- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. You're about to listen to a
- 0:42hypnosis session about quite a specific fear or insecurity.
- 0:48And I was working with a client that had recently been married
- 0:52and was planning a family. And one of the things that they
- 0:55were considering is having a family that was combined of
- 0:59biological children and adopted children.
- 1:03And initially when they thought about the idea, they had lots of
- 1:07very visceral feelings that were negative against the idea.
- 1:11And logically they had got to a point where they thought
- 1:14actually it could be a really good thing that they would want
- 1:16to do. This is the hypnosis session to
- 1:19help them fully accept that there would be challenges
- 1:22connected with that path, but they have the capabilities and
- 1:26resources to more than meet that particular challenge.
- 1:30So if you have any kind of fears about being a parent, for
- 1:36example, or fears as to whether or not you could be a good
- 1:39enough parent or. Dealing with.
- 1:41Difficulty with your children. These are the kind of themes
- 1:45that are included in this hypnosis session.
- 1:48And it does connect to this idea of being a parent to a child
- 1:54that may not be biologically yours but is still part of your
- 1:57family. And that might be a stepparent
- 2:00having this kind of mixed or hybrid family, or it might be a
- 2:04foster child or an adopted child.
- 2:07These are the kind of things that get connected to this
- 2:11session now. In the past, I would have talked
- 2:14about offering a free consultation call to anyone
- 2:17interested in working with me. I no longer offer free
- 2:20consultation calls. All consultation calls are paid,
- 2:23but if you like the idea of working with me and aren't ready
- 2:26to buy a consultation call, I've actually created a webinar that
- 2:30does a lot of the things that the free consultation call was
- 2:34covering before. And that webinar is 100% free.
- 2:38And I cover a lot of how I work and how hypnosis works, what it
- 2:42does, what it doesn't do. And there's suggestibility tests
- 2:45in that webinar and some very special bonuses at the end of
- 2:48that webinar as well. So if you're interested in
- 2:53hearing me talk for about an hour on that webinar, there will
- 2:56be a link in the description. For now, though, I'd like you to
- 2:59find a quiet, comfortable place where you won't be distracted or
- 3:02disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:30Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 3:38resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 3:43And as you exhale, that's it. Just allow your eyelids to feel
- 3:50heavy and with your eyes closed, notice how much easier it
- 3:56becomes to focus on the sound of my voice.
- 4:05That's it. Position your body in a way
- 4:07where relaxation is inevitable, that you can breathe in
- 4:13relaxation and exhale tension. Each breath feels like a release
- 4:21valve, just letting go of any unsettled emotions.
- 4:33And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you feel.
- 4:40And the more relaxed you feel, the deeper you breathe.
- 4:45As your body relaxes, your imagination awakens and I wonder
- 4:51if you could imagine a pathway on Cliff tops by the ocean in
- 5:00San Diego. Imagine blue skies, the sound of
- 5:07waves there in the distance. And I wonder if you could
- 5:13imagine a staircase, maybe wooden stairs or maybe stairs
- 5:22built into the cliffs that take you down from the Cliff top to
- 5:29the shore. And very soon as I count down
- 5:33from 12:50, I want you to imagine what it would feel like
- 5:39to walk from the Cliff tops down to the beach, closer to the
- 5:45ocean. Your unconscious already knows
- 5:54this Trip down the staircase is a metaphor representing moving
- 6:00from the conscious to the unconscious, from the logic to
- 6:05the emotion. And as you imagine going down
- 6:09the stairs, you start to appreciate how much of the
- 6:13logical work you've already done.
- 6:17The research, the analysis, the facts, and the stats.
- 6:23But this is a journey into the emotion.
- 6:28Counting from 12:50. Just imagine walking down the
- 6:30staircase. Each descending number takes you
- 6:33deeper and deeper. Relaxed. 10 that first step.
- 6:41Maybe there's a breeze, maybe there's sunshine.
- 6:44Nine, another step down that staircase.
- 6:51And I want you to imagine that each number gets you 10% closer
- 6:55to the beach. Maybe that's a few steps, eight,
- 7:00another step down. Just feeling a wave of
- 7:03relaxation going from your facial muscles down your neck
- 7:10down down into your arms as eight becomes 7.
- 7:15Even feel your internal organs starting to relax.
- 7:20Your heart relaxes, your stomach relaxes, even your lungs as
- 7:28seven becomes 6, now very close to getting halfway.
- 7:32As five you hit the halfway mark, halfway down from the
- 7:36Cliff tops to the beach as five becomes 4.
- 7:41Just feel your arms and legs feeling limp, loose and heavy. 3
- 7:46continuing down. Maybe there is the smell of the
- 7:51salt air, maybe there is a texture of sand that you can
- 7:59feel underneath your feet. 5 becomes 4 becomes 3.
- 8:05Now 2/3 of the way down toward the beach there, and maybe it's
- 8:12close to sunset, or maybe it's in the middle of the day.
- 8:16A connect without feeling of peace, tranquility.
- 8:23And here in your imagination you have the whole beach and the
- 8:25whole Cliff top just for you, no one else around.
- 8:29This is a journey of solitude, of connection, allowing
- 8:36emotional breakthroughs that enhance, empower and perhaps
- 8:44open more awareness as three becomes 2.
- 8:47Getting close now to the beach, two becomes one for the ripple
- 8:51of relaxation from your toes to the top of your head, down to
- 8:54the fingertips and one becomes zero.
- 8:58And imagine feeling grounded as your barefoot there on the sand,
- 9:06looking up at the Cliff top, seeing how far you've come down.
- 9:11And I want you to imagine finding the most comfortable
- 9:14chair there on the beach, the kind of care chair that should
- 9:20not be on the beach. Maybe a luxurious recliner, soft
- 9:28and comfortable. And just imagine climbing into
- 9:30that chair there where the sand meets the ocean, each breath
- 9:39taking you deeper and deeper, relaxed, opening the full power
- 9:48of neural plasticity to enable wonderful positive changes.
- 9:57And you know, there's the vibrancy in the yellow, the
- 10:00oranges of the cliffs, the shades and hues of blue in the
- 10:06sea, in the sky. But I want you to connect
- 10:10inwards, deep within. Let's call this deep within your
- 10:18quiet centre, the place where the most important understanding
- 10:24settle. The thoughts become ideas, ideas
- 10:29become beliefs, and beliefs become natural ways of thinking.
- 10:37And you've wondered many times about what Love Actually is,
- 10:48because there's a version of love that arrives automatically,
- 10:53without effort. And there is another love that
- 10:57is built deliberately, day by day, through presence and
- 11:05attention, that accumulation of shared experiences.
- 11:17And you know what is true about both versions of love, but
- 11:23neither is deeper than the other.
- 11:26By nature, the what determines the depth of love is not the
- 11:32mechanisms by which it began, but the quality of attention
- 11:38that has been given to it across time.
- 11:44And you already know this from direct experience, because the
- 11:49love you feel for those, maybe a nephew, a dog, a pet, those who
- 12:00did not come from you, who came into your life and lodged
- 12:05themselves there regardless, help make you understand without
- 12:12preparation. But your heart and your capacity
- 12:17for love, perhaps, was larger than you had estimated it to be.
- 12:25That was not a smaller love, because it was not biological.
- 12:31It was simply love, full and real and entirely yours.
- 12:42And every father who has ever held a child in their arms for
- 12:45the first time, regardless of how that child came to be in his
- 12:51arms, has connected with a very special shift.
- 12:59The particular shift that happens when responsibility
- 13:07fuses with devotion, When the abstract idea of a child becomes
- 13:15this specific, irreplaceable person who needs you and who you
- 13:23discover, you are willing to reorganize yourself entirely to
- 13:28serve. And I want you to get a sense
- 13:35that anyone I can father a child, anyone that produces
- 13:45sperm has that capacity, but very few have the capacity
- 13:57through choice, decisions, intentions to truly be the
- 14:04father. I wonder if there's a part
- 14:11within that already. Know that you have the capacity
- 14:15to love, and that love will exist for every child in your
- 14:20family, and it won't require manufacture, affirmations or
- 14:27effort. It will grow naturally from the
- 14:31same source that genuine love has always grown from, presence,
- 14:41commitment, and the simple daily practice of showing up and doing
- 14:50what needs to be done. Because love is what you do, not
- 14:57only what you feel and the bonds you build through presence and
- 15:04commitment, they can grow to full depth every time, with
- 15:11every child who becomes yours. A.
- 15:19Parent does not love all their children identically because no
- 15:25two children are identical. A great parent loves each child
- 15:33completely, specifically for exactly who that child is, and
- 15:42that completeness is the same for each one, regardless of how
- 15:51they arrived. And you could think of it the
- 15:55way a Craftsman thinks about their work.
- 16:00That every piece they produce receives their full attention,
- 16:08complete skill, entire care. And the fact that one piece was
- 16:14made with different materials or began in different circumstances
- 16:20doesn't mean it receives a fraction of what another
- 16:23received. It receives everything because
- 16:29everything is what this Craftsman brings to every piece
- 16:33that they work on. And the children in your family
- 16:40will be different in the ways all children are different from
- 16:46each other. Personality, temperament,
- 16:51interests in the specific ways they need to be loved and
- 16:57challenged and supported, and that ability.
- 17:05To be. Flexible.
- 17:07Intuitive not to treat them identically, but to treat each
- 17:12of them completely, and your unconscious already understands
- 17:18how to do this. Because it.
- 17:22Understands that complete love. Is not a.
- 17:25Finite resource. There is no. 0 sum game here.
- 17:32Complete love multiplies and does not divide.
- 17:37Every child. You love adds to the total
- 17:42rather than reducing anyone else's share.
- 17:48It's one of the. Genuinely counter intuitive
- 17:51facts of parenthood. The more you.
- 17:55Love, the more love you have to give.
- 18:03And there is. Something worth understanding.
- 18:06About those? Challenges that not may come
- 18:10with parenting, but will come. They.
- 18:15Come with every child in every family, the challenges are not
- 18:20evident that something has gone wrong and.
- 18:24They're not. Mechanisms from which the most
- 18:27important things happen. I want you to.
- 18:32Get a feeling that. The very.
- 18:35Things through which children develop character, resilience,
- 18:40and the particular kind of wisdom that only comes from
- 18:44having been gone through something difficult, in fact.
- 18:52The bigger the. Challenge is.
- 18:55The more. Opportunity for growth.
- 18:58That is true for your children and equally true for you.
- 19:06Because you are. Someone who has intentionally
- 19:09sought out difficulty. You've.
- 19:14Understood intuitively that the version of yourself forged
- 19:18through genuine challenge is more capable and more real than
- 19:26the version that took the easy Rd. that never encountered
- 19:29resistance. People don't get stronger by
- 19:35lifting light weights. They get.
- 19:39Stronger by lifting weights beyond their capability and the
- 19:44body adapts. And I wonder just how many
- 19:50skills and enhancement to your character, your thinking, your
- 19:57capabilities will come. In this.
- 20:01Journey of parenthood and the children that have known
- 20:06difficulty before they arrive carry something with them
- 20:11because of it. Not only.
- 20:14Wounds, but also resources. A resilience built early and
- 20:20tested already, a knowledge of their own capacity to survive.
- 20:26Things that were hard. You won't.
- 20:34Be asked to fix what they carry. You.
- 20:38Will be asked to accept, to understand, to help them manage
- 20:44their own path through their journey, to help them become
- 20:50strong, capable, perhaps even formidable.
- 20:56And. The moments of greatest
- 20:57difficulty in your family's life together.
- 21:01Those. Misunderstandings.
- 21:03The friction. The.
- 21:05Conversations that are hard to begin and even harder to finish.
- 21:11These are not. Failures of the family.
- 21:14They are the. Family becoming stronger, bonds
- 21:19and boundaries being tested and discovered.
- 21:24And. There is no bond quite as
- 21:25durable. As the.
- 21:30One that has been tested. And has been.
- 21:33Held consider a great tree. Not a young.
- 21:43One but an established 1. The.
- 21:48Kind of tree that has been in place long enough to a developed
- 21:51roots that go deep and wide below the surface.
- 21:57Roots that. Hold through weather that would
- 22:00overturn something shallower. The tree does not ask how each
- 22:08branch came to exist before it decides how much water to send
- 22:14to it. It sends everything it has to
- 22:19every branch through the same root system.
- 22:24The same. Resources.
- 22:27The same. Stability.
- 22:30The same capacity to hold, even in the kind of weather that
- 22:35tests what the roots are made of.
- 22:41And. You can't control the branches.
- 22:44They will grow differently from each other in different
- 22:48directions, at different rates, with different shapes and
- 22:51different responses to the seasons.
- 22:56But the tree. Is beautiful not by being
- 23:00perfectly symmetrical. But by having.
- 23:05Balance with all of its differences, the tree provides
- 23:12the conditions in which every branch can become fully what it
- 23:18is and. What it's meant?
- 23:21To be. And you are?
- 23:25Building this tree, the roots are the values and the
- 23:31commitment and the daily presence that will go deeper
- 23:35with every year. And those large branches are the
- 23:43children. Who will grow?
- 23:47In the directions that are genuinely theirs, different from
- 23:51each other. Completely.
- 23:53Supported by the same root system.
- 23:57And casting. Between them, a shade that will
- 24:00eventually extend further than you can currently see, and the
- 24:07branches beyond their branches. I want.
- 24:11You to think of grandchildren influenced.
- 24:18By the tree. Itself, values that ripple
- 24:22across generations, that influence you are building roots
- 24:30deep, strong and shared, shared equally by every branch.
- 24:38And. The tree you are planting will
- 24:40cast shade that you will live to sit in, surrounded by everyone
- 24:46that had sheltered. And before we leave this beach,
- 24:52let's think. Think forward into a future.
- 24:58Allow yourself to travel forward in time, not months, but years
- 25:05perhaps to a virgin of your life that has had time to become
- 25:09fully itself. Perhaps you could?
- 25:14Imagine yourself in a room or a garden, somewhere that has
- 25:18become the gathering place for your family, and around you are
- 25:24the people who are yours. Not because of.
- 25:27Blood alone, but because of years of presence, of meals
- 25:31shared, of difficulties navigated, of laughter that is
- 25:37built a specific texture between people who know and care for
- 25:43each other deeply. But in this?
- 25:47Future The children who joined your family are not children
- 25:53anymore. Imagine them as adults.
- 25:58And you? Don't have to see their faces,
- 25:59but you can feel their presence and perceive particular
- 26:04qualities. Qualities that.
- 26:07Grew in the specific conditions of your family.
- 26:12Things like. Resilience, intelligence,
- 26:16humour, ambition, mental strength, tenacity, kindness.
- 26:29See those? Qualities and know that.
- 26:32You. Influenced it.
- 26:35You can't force anyone to be anyone other than who they
- 26:40choose to be, but you can provide.
- 26:46All of the. Resources.
- 26:49To. Influence to enhance, to assist.
- 26:57So imagine this. Family.
- 26:59This family of good people. Not perfect, because no one is,
- 27:05and perfection was never what you were building toward, but
- 27:09genuinely good people. The.
- 27:13Kind of people who are honest about difficulty and generous in
- 27:18the ways that matter. Who have taken?
- 27:22What was given to them and made something worthy of it.
- 27:29Maybe you notice smiles, affection, consideration.
- 27:34Not from fear. But from.
- 27:37Thoughtfulness. Perhaps you could?
- 27:42Imagine your partner beside you, older, still beautiful.
- 27:51See the connection, shed smiles, eye contact.
- 27:57And. Maybe you can get a sense of
- 27:59pride. From just the.
- 28:02Idea of this future that you're building and just allow any
- 28:12insights, any thoughts to ripple back from that idea of the
- 28:17future? All the way.
- 28:20Back to the present and feel that you're unconscious is
- 28:27unlocking any resources required to move toward that future.
- 28:35And melting. Away any fears.
- 28:39Not because. Fears aren't valid, but because
- 28:42fears are manageable, you can mitigate them.
- 28:48You can. Prepare, and you can reduce the
- 28:51probability of those fears by controlling what's in your
- 28:57sphere of influence. And.
- 29:00Influencing and accepting that which is not.
- 29:07Allow all of. This inside and wisdom to ripple
- 29:10back back into your present. And then imagine leaving that
- 29:17comfy recline chair there on the beach.
- 29:27And I want. You to imagine you're now
- 29:28wearing clothing suitable to swim.
- 29:34But I want you to. See some marks like dirt or mud
- 29:38or grime? They're on your skin.
- 29:42These are the. Remnants of old beliefs, old
- 29:45ideas that you don't hold anymore.
- 29:49But there's just. Some residue still on you.
- 29:52So imagine swimming in the ocean and washing all of those old
- 29:57beliefs, old narratives, old stories away that just don't
- 30:02serve you anymore. And.
- 30:05When? You leave the ocean.
- 30:06Notice how clean you are. Those old.
- 30:10Stories, beliefs and narratives just aren't on you anymore.
- 30:15They're diluted to nothingness there in the ocean.
- 30:19And then imagine. Start to leave.
- 30:22The beach climb up towards the cliffs.
- 30:27As you start to prepare to. Return to the present.
- 30:34With a new. Sense of clarity, open
- 30:36mindedness, perhaps even excitement as to the future that
- 30:41you're building. The tree.
- 30:43That you're planting. And all.
- 30:46The wonderful things that will come from that future.
- 30:51As you imagine. Climbing up that cliffside
- 30:57staircase, take a deep breath in through your nose.
- 31:02And out. Through your nose, just wiggle
- 31:05your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 31:06Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 31:11from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 31:16Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 31:24Open your eyes. Open your eyes. 910.
- 31:28Wide awake. Wide awake.
- 31:31Wide awake. Thank you.
