Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Landy Wilson, congratulations once again. It's to the point now
- 0:04Speaker 1: where it's not a surprise to people that know you
- 0:09Speaker 1: and people that have seen you since day one.
- 0:12Speaker 2: It was a shock to me, I'll tell you that
- 0:14Speaker 2: again though, Yes, because I was so focused on hosting
- 0:17Speaker 2: these awards that, like, normally I kind of psyched myself
- 0:20Speaker 2: out about like, well, are we going to take home
- 0:22Speaker 2: any hardware? But I didn't even think about it because
- 0:25Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm hosting. That's probably not happening this year.
- 0:30Speaker 2: I was not prepared.
- 0:32Speaker 1: The hosting thing is so wild too, because when we
- 0:34Speaker 1: when we introduce, when we interact rather with country fans
- 0:38Speaker 1: and people that listen to the radio, they're always like,
- 0:40Speaker 1: who's your favorite or what's this person? Like? What's this
- 0:42Speaker 1: person like? And obviously I'm like, Laney is a pain
- 0:45Speaker 1: in the ass, but.
- 0:46Speaker 3: She's annoying her accident.
- 0:50Speaker 1: When you like the first time I met her, she
- 0:52Speaker 1: was like, Hey, what's going down, guys?
- 0:54Speaker 3: What's going down? Guys?
- 0:55Speaker 4: I was a hit him with a New York accent.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Hey, but it's you have worked so hard in such
- 1:02Speaker 1: a short amount of time. Yeah, probably harder than you
- 1:04Speaker 1: needed to. In certain moments, where you over sacrifice, but
- 1:07Speaker 1: like this is what happens.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, if the reward has been nice, it's
- 1:13Speaker 2: it's and it's crazy because literally, just a handful of
- 1:15Speaker 2: years ago, you were doing the radio tour thing, carrying
- 1:18Speaker 2: your own guitar.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Now your guitar doesn't even travel with you.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Now my guitar got legs.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I got guitar people in my team.
- 1:27Speaker 3: It feels good.
- 1:28Speaker 4: It was Entertainer of the Year ever a goal though,
- 1:31Speaker 4: of course.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Yeah, of course I didn't know it would happen this soon.
- 1:34Speaker 2: You know, like growing up watching the cmas and stuff,
- 1:38Speaker 2: it seemed very far fetch. It seemed like I had
- 1:43Speaker 2: lots of miles to cover before I ever even got there.
- 1:47Speaker 2: The truth is like looking up though, now it's like
- 1:51Speaker 2: you work hard, you know, I've been here fourteen years,
- 1:53Speaker 2: and you look up and you're like, well, maybe I
- 1:55Speaker 2: have traveled the same amount of miles or a similar
- 1:58Speaker 2: amount of miles. You know, I've been around the block
- 2:02Speaker 2: a couple of times, a couple of times, and back
- 2:04Speaker 2: and then home again.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Uh does it all matter more because of the Entertainer
- 2:11Speaker 1: of the Year or would it have been just as
- 2:13Speaker 1: just as sweet without it?
- 2:15Speaker 3: It was a sweet night.
- 2:18Speaker 2: But of course, I like, I'd be lying to you
- 2:20Speaker 2: if I told you it wasn't the cherry on top.
- 2:23Speaker 2: You know, that's a good failing. That's a good failing
- 2:25Speaker 2: when your when your community like really thinks that you've
- 2:29Speaker 2: represented country music in a lot of different aspects that year.
- 2:33Speaker 1: You know, it's Entertainer of the Year, and then like
- 2:36Speaker 1: artists of the Year for like male and female feel different,
- 2:39Speaker 1: right because it's here's a male and female and they
- 2:42Speaker 1: were dominant and you know they did this and they
- 2:44Speaker 1: sold records and whatever else. But entertainer to me isn't
- 2:48Speaker 1: just had a big tour and sold out. Yeah, I
- 2:50Speaker 1: feel like that's truly like entertainer entertaining, right. Yeah, So
- 2:54Speaker 1: when you hear when you hear it's like, oh, here's
- 2:57Speaker 1: your nominees, and then whoever wins, it's like, what, well
- 2:59Speaker 1: this person did this. Yeah, well this person did this.
- 3:02Speaker 1: And it always, to me, I think comes down to
- 3:07Speaker 1: it's not just doing the shows, it's what are you
- 3:09Speaker 1: doing between the shows that keeps you not only entertainer
- 3:13Speaker 1: of the Year and like massive superstar on the stage,
- 3:15Speaker 1: but real life human that you pass that Kroger, Yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 1: do you feel the same from where you sit.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I think so, I think so.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Like thinking about who got nominated alongside I'm like, man,
- 3:28Speaker 2: these folks have done some stuff talking about breaking records,
- 3:32Speaker 2: you know, and they continue to and they continue to
- 3:36Speaker 2: be like the pioneers of our genre.
- 3:39Speaker 3: It feels cool to think that, Like.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Little Laney, you know, they let the girl in the group.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I'm kind of alongside them, you know. Like we had
- 3:51Speaker 2: a huge arena tour this year and.
- 3:55Speaker 4: It was so good.
- 3:55Speaker 1: By the way, I had a little father daughter date night.
- 3:58Speaker 1: It ended up on Good Morning America. So I'm just
- 4:02Speaker 1: she's she's like someone is key because because they ran
- 4:06Speaker 1: Good Morning American, our picture with you ended up on there,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and so Haley's not like good Morning America.
- 4:13Speaker 4: I'm like, for two seconds, Yeah, serial killers were on
- 4:16Speaker 4: TV longer than you, Okay, So like I got to
- 4:18Speaker 4: figure better, you better, Koli.
- 4:21Speaker 3: You gotta keep her humble.
- 4:22Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying, because now she she's like, she
- 4:25Speaker 1: tells everybody that you're best friends, So well we are.
- 4:29Speaker 1: You gave basket a shout out yep uh as you're
- 4:33Speaker 1: on stage. Is it weird that you went from you know,
- 4:35Speaker 1: one of the people in the community to like you
- 4:38Speaker 1: could go to town and buy out the community at
- 4:41Speaker 1: this point.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's wild.
- 4:44Speaker 2: But the cool thing about my is when I go back,
- 4:49Speaker 2: it's not Laney Wilson is home. It's like Laney hitd
- 4:54Speaker 2: Knuckleheads home. You know what I'm saying, Like, that's who's home. Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 2: They have treated me this no matter what they do,
- 5:01Speaker 2: not think that. I think it's kind of hard for
- 5:03Speaker 2: them to wrap their head around, which I like, I
- 5:06Speaker 2: don't really want them to. Yeah, I don't want to,
- 5:08Speaker 2: you know, I'm scared to. I'm like, if I really
- 5:11Speaker 2: knew what was happening, if I really understood, I don't
- 5:14Speaker 2: think it would be healthy for anybody.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Valid you start, once you start buying your own T shirts,
- 5:19Speaker 1: that's the problem. Once you've liked your own Facebook fan pigs,
- 5:22Speaker 1: that's the problem.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Right, that's right. Uh.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Last time we talked, we got a little in the
- 5:27Speaker 1: weeds on like mental health stuff and how you learned
- 5:30Speaker 1: the hard way, like.
- 5:32Speaker 4: The I got it. So knowing that and you still.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Have the result of Entertainer of the Year and had
- 5:38Speaker 1: a massive tour, are you able to soak this in
- 5:41Speaker 1: more now?
- 5:42Speaker 3: Yes?
- 5:42Speaker 2: And maybe before I feel more present right now than
- 5:47Speaker 2: like I feel like this year in general, I've just
- 5:50Speaker 2: been more present, but I've had to fight for that.
- 5:54Speaker 2: It might seem like I don't say no to a
- 5:56Speaker 2: lot of things, but I really do, Like, well I
- 5:57Speaker 2: say no to far outweighs what I actually say yes to.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And I mean we played sixty six shows this year,
- 6:06Speaker 2: I mean compared to two hundred what we were doing.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Like that's given me more time to really focus on
- 6:13Speaker 2: my health and it is so important, like it is
- 6:18Speaker 2: just and I don't want to forget these days. I
- 6:20Speaker 2: want to like, these are the days that I want
- 6:21Speaker 2: to look back on and be like, man, remember when
- 6:25Speaker 2: I got to host the CMA's and we took home
- 6:27Speaker 2: three awards at night, And these are precious times I
- 6:33Speaker 2: want to remember.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And award show is damned successful when you can turn
- 6:36Speaker 1: to somebody at the end of the night and say, hey,
- 6:38Speaker 1: can you hold this because it means.
- 6:40Speaker 4: You got job?
- 6:41Speaker 2: And then Keith Urban's like, bro, you got to close
- 6:43Speaker 2: out the show, And I was.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Like, isn't that funny Keith Irban has to remind you?
- 6:48Speaker 2: Yeah, He's like, and I was like, oh, okay, but
- 6:52Speaker 2: what a gentleman.
- 6:53Speaker 4: He could have been like, get here time.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I know he could have. It's Keith. Iurban he can
- 6:58Speaker 3: do whatever he wants.
- 6:58Speaker 4: I asked him one time.
- 6:59Speaker 1: He always gets complimented on how he smells. I asked
- 7:01Speaker 1: him one time, like what it is, and he goes
- 7:04Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, asshole, No, I really want to know
- 7:06Speaker 1: how what it is? Somebody said it actually let me
- 7:12Speaker 1: look that up. Okay, but somebody said he had people
- 7:16Speaker 1: like make a mixture that's like only his. I'd believe that.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I believe it too, because he does smell good.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Actually, when I hugged his neck when we were doing
- 7:23Speaker 2: rehearsal for the opening monologue, I was like, dang, you
- 7:26Speaker 2: smell good.
- 7:27Speaker 3: You get how you smell better?
- 7:29Speaker 4: That's every single time. It's ridiculous.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Is it shower more, shower less? I've been working on
- 7:34Speaker 1: the equation.
- 7:35Speaker 3: He's doing it right.
- 7:38Speaker 1: You got the opportunity hosting the show to show personality,
- 7:42Speaker 1: which I mean you do in your show right, But
- 7:44Speaker 1: it's tough to do that in music video.
- 7:46Speaker 4: It's tough to do that if you're doing a TV appearance.
- 7:48Speaker 1: So really that's this is the first time that people
- 7:50Speaker 1: got to see more of Laney as a human than anything.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Was it scary to be that vulnerable because you're vulnerable
- 7:56Speaker 1: in your music, right, but like.
- 7:58Speaker 4: This is like yet more.
- 8:00Speaker 2: The truth is like I did not think about how
- 8:03Speaker 2: much weight hosting carried until like a week before, and
- 8:06Speaker 2: then I said, oh my gosh, I said, I do
- 8:07Speaker 2: this thing by myself. Here, I am like this could
- 8:11Speaker 2: go two ways, you know, and I just felt like, Okay,
- 8:16Speaker 2: it's my job as the host to like I'm creating
- 8:19Speaker 2: the vibe for the night. You know, whatever we come
- 8:22Speaker 2: out of the gate swinging with like that is the
- 8:24Speaker 2: vibe for the night. I'm supposed to be like the
- 8:26Speaker 2: cheerleader of country music.
- 8:28Speaker 4: And yet no pomp poms.
- 8:31Speaker 2: We're seeing no pomp, Thank the Lord. See oh you man, No.
- 8:37Speaker 4: I keep going.
- 8:38Speaker 1: I want to make sure you can smell it all
- 8:40Speaker 1: or wow. Last thing I wanted, by the way, that
- 8:45Speaker 1: just became a song idea by the way for you,
- 8:48Speaker 1: so you can run with it. We'll clip this out.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I know you're ton on time. The last thing I
- 8:52Speaker 1: want to ask you is when you got into this,
- 8:54Speaker 1: things things that would fulfill you in your career. You
- 8:59Speaker 1: chase things like I mean, I know I did on
- 9:02Speaker 1: my side of radio and all that, Like I chase things.
- 9:05Speaker 4: I'm like, this is going to fulfill me.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And then I held it in my hand, still feeling
- 9:09Speaker 1: like empties dramatic, but like feeling like, well, this didn't
- 9:13Speaker 1: do anything, So Laney chase those things, caught those things.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yep.
- 9:19Speaker 1: So what for twenty twenty six to be fulfilling for
- 9:23Speaker 1: you as a human?
- 9:24Speaker 4: And I'm not like marriage.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Is great all that, but like real life, like what
- 9:28Speaker 1: does Lane need to feel fulfilled and successful in twenty
- 9:31Speaker 1: twenty six?
- 9:32Speaker 2: Like no one who my real identity is, not the singer,
- 9:38Speaker 2: not the artist, like all of those things. Like really
- 9:42Speaker 2: it's like no one who the Lord called me to be,
- 9:44Speaker 2: and like no man can tell you that.
- 9:48Speaker 3: And that's really important because the truth is, you know, we're.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Winning, we're we're getting number ones, we're like doing the
- 9:54Speaker 2: dang thing. But at any point in time that could
- 9:58Speaker 2: not exist, you know, And I know like I'm trying
- 10:01Speaker 2: to ride that wave right now. I want to like
- 10:03Speaker 2: soak it for everything that it is, you know, like
- 10:05Speaker 2: hold it for everything that it is.
- 10:06Speaker 4: But like.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I can see how people get like addicted to to
- 10:15Speaker 2: like the wind and then all of a sudden. You
- 10:18Speaker 2: don't have it one day and then what does that
- 10:19Speaker 2: look like? I don't want to do that. They don't
- 10:23Speaker 2: tell you about to come down. We ain't coming down
- 10:25Speaker 2: anytime soon, but I'm not willing to like.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Take it hard.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Yep, don't because the comedown is a Bengal hall in Columbia,
- 10:35Speaker 1: Tennessee well Bango, Leanie Wilson Birthday Parties dot Com book
- 10:42Speaker 1: for US now
