- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: All right, guys, Almost Famous and the og all creations
- 0:09Speaker 2: of the Sugarman brain Trust Here tonight. This is the
- 0:13Speaker 2: post mortem. Guys. We're coming off of a great night
- 0:17Speaker 2: multiple interviews, Ben Higgins, Bob Guiney talking to everyone in
- 0:22Speaker 2: the room. We talked about parenthood, we talked about having children,
- 0:26Speaker 2: We talked about the baby shower, we talked about the baby.
- 0:29Speaker 2: What's about your gorgeous wife? We talked about colts, we
- 0:31Speaker 2: talked about sandwiches. We had so many conversations. I don't
- 0:34Speaker 2: even know what the hell was going on. My head
- 0:35Speaker 2: is spinning right now.
- 0:36Speaker 3: And you know what, Bob, some things that stood out
- 0:38Speaker 3: to me tonight Jonan Chalk outside of the baby stuff,
- 0:43Speaker 3: as solid as of a couple as I've ever seen
- 0:45Speaker 3: from The Bachelor.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Yes, me too.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I mean, they can joke with each other, they can
- 0:50Speaker 3: kind of like jab each other a little bit, and
- 0:52Speaker 3: they love each other. That's a standout, you.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Know what I loved. Also, first of all, they do
- 0:59Speaker 2: speak for each other a little bit, like in a
- 1:01Speaker 2: kind way, but they give each other that space to
- 1:04Speaker 2: speak for themselves, which I think is a very respectful thing.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And older couples do that, and couples who've been together
- 1:10Speaker 2: for a long time with that, but couples in the beginning,
- 1:12Speaker 2: it's like one of them is almost always trying to
- 1:14Speaker 2: dominate the conversation. It would stand a reason that Joan
- 1:18Speaker 2: would almost talk for Chok, right, she doesn't, she doesn't,
- 1:22Speaker 2: she lets him go, and Chalk doesn't need to be
- 1:25Speaker 2: let go. He's a he's a man dud. He has
- 1:27Speaker 2: his own moment. I love them. I love that dude.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Chalk made a comment at the very end of the
- 1:33Speaker 3: podcast that said, it feels like been married for five years.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I remember saying that, and I would say that makes sense,
- 1:40Speaker 3: like it does. Another stand out to me was Jonathan
- 1:44Speaker 3: going on Paradise, his excitement towards that, his you know,
- 1:50Speaker 3: the one thing we didn't dive into with him, but
- 1:52Speaker 3: I think is something to know is his intentionality about
- 1:58Speaker 3: preparing well for that show, meaning he wasn't going to
- 2:01Speaker 3: reach out to bachelor people, he wasn't going to date around,
- 2:05Speaker 3: he was going to keep his slate clean. Really, if
- 2:08Speaker 3: I would have, uh, what do you think about that? Like?
- 2:11Speaker 2: So I have two thoughts on that, Like one of
- 2:14Speaker 2: the thoughts is I I question someone who has such
- 2:19Speaker 2: a plan now that I question jigginy Jay because I
- 2:23Speaker 2: actually did enjoy him, But it is interesting to me
- 2:26Speaker 2: that someone has such a plan, like I didn't have
- 2:28Speaker 2: a plan.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I wonder if a little no, I'm with you, I
- 2:31Speaker 3: think a plan is a is an odd way to
- 2:33Speaker 3: lay it out. I wonder though, for him getting to
- 2:37Speaker 3: spend some time with him, if he has a plan
- 2:39Speaker 3: because of past seasons and how many people have had
- 2:43Speaker 3: a lack of a plan right and just kind of
- 2:46Speaker 3: dated around and gone to these shows. He's watching the
- 2:48Speaker 3: carnage and yeah, and he's like, I need to set
- 2:52Speaker 3: my boundaries up. I need to make sure I think
- 2:58Speaker 3: this through so that I don't show up to the
- 3:00Speaker 3: beach and get absolutely destroyed.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I do. I do say this. I like him. I
- 3:05Speaker 2: think he's a very nice personality. I think he seemed
- 3:07Speaker 2: like a really cool guy, and I did like these
- 3:09Speaker 2: They're supporting Jen that whole time through out the season.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I mean that, you know, everyone's like speculating up their
- 3:14Speaker 2: dating and he knows they're not, but he's still there
- 3:17Speaker 2: every week. You know, part of me.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Is supporting her as a friend and we see this
- 3:20Speaker 3: now with her and Sasha, where like they Jonathan and
- 3:23Speaker 3: Jen definitely didn't have anything, and we guess we don't
- 3:27Speaker 3: really know Sasha and Jen do because it's kind of
- 3:30Speaker 3: the same thing that's happening with Jonathan. But the Sasha
- 3:33Speaker 3: thing seems a little more legit because she's like staying
- 3:36Speaker 3: at his house, which feels like, how did's too attractive people?
- 3:40Speaker 2: To me?
- 3:41Speaker 3: I go, how did too attractive single people sleep in
- 3:43Speaker 3: the same bad.
- 3:45Speaker 2: No, we're just gonna say she's gonna stay here at
- 3:47Speaker 2: my couge. She's a closer in the dirty laundry. Come on, bro, respect. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 2: it's not a thing. I watched gen dance on that show.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Come Courtney and Umberta were together. Uh, just I love
- 4:01Speaker 3: that you love them and you love Umberto and you
- 4:04Speaker 3: love coordinating I do. And you've been a fan of
- 4:06Speaker 3: hers forever and you could I could tell just through
- 4:08Speaker 3: that interview how like excited you were that they are together.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I like them, but like, again, go back to my
- 4:16Speaker 3: first point, Mberto Preciado shows up.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Like you both the greatest name I've ever heard in
- 4:23Speaker 2: my Like, there's no chance they don't get married, and
- 4:25Speaker 2: I get named Bob Guinea yea, and I want to
- 4:27Speaker 2: fight my parents. Why am I not Robert? No, it's
- 4:33Speaker 2: Bob Ginny And you really like saur Kraut. It's like
- 4:37Speaker 2: all these weird tonalities in the Midwest. Just abfuse me.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Beautiful couple.
- 4:45Speaker 3: We had Susie who's just crushing it in her podcast,
- 4:50Speaker 3: hosting an incredible show about so many unique, creative and
- 4:55Speaker 3: difficult topics, and she's doing it in a humorous, yet
- 4:59Speaker 3: de She's adorable. She is, she really is adoring. Do
- 5:03Speaker 3: you think her and Justin are back together?
- 5:04Speaker 2: I do.
- 5:05Speaker 3: I do too.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I got a feeling I think that. First of all,
- 5:09Speaker 2: it bothered me at our last time with Justin. It
- 5:14Speaker 2: bothered me that I felt like there was some it wasn't.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It didn't seem settled to me. There's something going on.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I love that right now, even though you know we
- 5:24Speaker 2: weren't able to pry it out of her in our
- 5:26Speaker 2: gripping interviews and you and I just hitting with the
- 5:28Speaker 2: hard stuff we weren't able to get out of her. That,
- 5:31Speaker 2: I do think they are together, and maybe that's something
- 5:33Speaker 2: for Bachelor Nation look forward to.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I think they're back together. We have the Golden ladies.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Can we call them the Golden Girls, Yeah, of course
- 5:41Speaker 2: we can. I feel like the three of them are
- 5:43Speaker 2: like the three amigos who are just fucking awesome. And
- 5:47Speaker 2: I could listen to them read a phone book and
- 5:49Speaker 2: I would be laughing my ass off.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Can you imagine if we just stuck the three of
- 5:53Speaker 3: them in the house and said, there's no rules to this,
- 5:54Speaker 3: just live life, no, see what happens, because it would
- 5:58Speaker 3: be no bills would get paid, but it's asolutely crazy.
- 6:00Speaker 3: And if you have boys over, the show will pay
- 6:03Speaker 3: for everything. So like that's encouraged, love it and just
- 6:06Speaker 3: see what happens, and we just follow along.
- 6:09Speaker 2: King the pool boy would be there and none of
- 6:11Speaker 2: them have a pool.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Can I tell you something, Yes, I would bet money
- 6:17Speaker 4: that by early twenty twenty five a lot of those
- 6:21Speaker 4: Golden ladies are dating a lot of the Golden dudes.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I hope, Oh I guarantee you I see them. They're
- 6:26Speaker 4: all So Chalk's facetiming his buddies from the show and
- 6:30Speaker 4: getting the ladies on. They're all it's going to be
- 6:33Speaker 4: like the young ones inter dating, you know, as they
- 6:36Speaker 4: do with the Goldens. Nancy thousands dude and I think
- 6:42Speaker 4: I know who it's going to be. Do you want
- 6:43Speaker 4: me to tell you now? I think it's going to
- 6:46Speaker 4: be Guy.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Wait a minute, I like, Guy, You're.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Gonna meet Guy when Ben's having a baby. Guy's going
- 6:52Speaker 4: to be with us. Oh my, So I think I
- 6:54Speaker 4: think there might be some sparks between maybe Nancy and Guy.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And Nancy back on that one. I think so should
- 7:00Speaker 2: be reserved.
- 7:02Speaker 4: That one's going to be. Okay, tune in for like
- 7:05Speaker 4: February for like Golden hookups, because what we're trying to
- 7:10Speaker 4: do Ben, when you have the baby is we're going
- 7:12Speaker 4: to take.
- 7:15Speaker 3: That seems like something I would not be down. I'm
- 7:19Speaker 3: going to come back.
- 7:20Speaker 4: We're just gonna get a baby all the goldens. It's
- 7:22Speaker 4: going to be fifty and over only, and it's going
- 7:25Speaker 4: to be all the goldens and Susie and your face.
- 7:29Speaker 4: Why are you so let the old Let the old folks.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I want them to have a lift so bad.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I just have this image in my mind right now
- 7:37Speaker 3: that I can get out. That's mostly what I'm thinking. Uh,
- 7:42Speaker 3: but I'm just thinking about how having a baby and
- 7:44Speaker 3: then like coming back in March and starting to record
- 7:46Speaker 3: again and all of a sudden. Now She's like, we're not.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Letting you have like two weeks off, like two months off,
- 7:54Speaker 4: said Ben's getting time off.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I thought I get like five days vacation.
- 7:57Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 7:58Speaker 4: No, you don't know about that. We set up all
- 8:00Speaker 4: the cameras and the microphones and the delivery.
- 8:02Speaker 2: You know, we already cleared it. I'm gonna be right there,
- 8:06Speaker 2: ladies and gentlemen, this is actually happening in real time.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I just can't imagine like the stories that have come out,
- 8:11Speaker 3: and I'm gonna listen to a podcast and be like, yeah, well,
- 8:13Speaker 3: it's not like Kathy and this guy they like snuck off.
- 8:17Speaker 3: It's gonna be like stage Coach to the bedroom and
- 8:19Speaker 3: we walked in there making out.
- 8:22Speaker 2: It's gonna be like stage Coach with I.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Was gonna say, who was the one that got in
- 8:25Speaker 4: trouble at stage Coach Blake? What was the nickname?
- 8:29Speaker 3: Uh? I don't know.
- 8:30Speaker 4: What was the name they gave stage Coach when Blake
- 8:33Speaker 4: had like too many hookups. What if we make a
- 8:36Speaker 4: Golden just like a Golden.
- 8:40Speaker 2: He is an island.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't actually like feel like this is something
- 8:45Speaker 3: i'd morally be against, because if we brought all them
- 8:49Speaker 3: together for an I heeard event, and like the idea
- 8:52Speaker 3: was like let's speed date and then like let's say
- 8:54Speaker 3: we get four really successful makeouts from it. I'd actually
- 8:58Speaker 3: be like, that's kind of cool. I know what if
- 9:00Speaker 3: please really good at like they know what they're doing.
- 9:04Speaker 3: They're all like into.
- 9:05Speaker 2: No one's even remotely young enough to make a mistake.
- 9:08Speaker 2: We just holds bar. Yeah, nobody. It's like a candy
- 9:16Speaker 2: bowl of Viagara and condoms.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Like when Daddy's away.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Goodness, this sounds.
- 9:24Speaker 2: You put Firestone and I in a room. Bro, it's
- 9:26Speaker 2: gonna be bringing spin the bottle Truth or Dare.
- 9:29Speaker 4: We're gonna bring out all the teenage games and have
- 9:31Speaker 4: just hook up Island for the Golden I can't wait.
- 9:34Speaker 3: That's such good content.
- 9:35Speaker 4: It's really good.
- 9:36Speaker 2: It's good.
- 9:37Speaker 3: I just can't be a part of it.
- 9:39Speaker 2: We'll call you, We'll call you, we'll send you a video.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Who else was here tonight? Nobody? I think that was
- 9:43Speaker 3: all the interviews we did.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Well. I wanted to say, like, let's talk about this.
- 9:47Speaker 2: So you did mention Courtney Bug Robertson and Umberto and yes,
- 9:52Speaker 2: I I actually really so I did an interview with
- 9:54Speaker 2: Courtney earlier this year, and I always saw she was
- 9:58Speaker 2: a villain too, and I thought it was really interesting
- 10:00Speaker 2: to hear Alberto's experience with her being the villain. It
- 10:05Speaker 2: hurt his feelings in the jump, and it was like
- 10:07Speaker 2: it was hard for him to get over it at first.
- 10:09Speaker 2: And I guess I never really thought about it because
- 10:12Speaker 2: I was edited very nicely when I was on the show.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I didn't realize that it could be hard to be
- 10:18Speaker 2: with someone who was coming off of that experience and
- 10:21Speaker 2: they have their first berth of their child and he's
- 10:24Speaker 2: like It kind of bothered me that all the headlines
- 10:26Speaker 2: were about her being the villain and showing pictures of
- 10:29Speaker 2: her and then she's not. I mean, I think she's not,
- 10:32Speaker 2: and I think she was on that season, but she.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Was just so sassy that was just like not not
- 10:40Speaker 4: there to be like everyone's best friend.
- 10:43Speaker 2: She said, like her whole thing was I'm not going
- 10:45Speaker 2: to make friends. She flashed, she did some things in
- 10:48Speaker 2: the water, but it was like nothing that she did
- 10:50Speaker 2: was villainous. No, but they made it, like like Sugarman said,
- 10:54Speaker 2: they made it and she and she won, so clearly,
- 10:58Speaker 2: you know she was the villain.
- 10:59Speaker 3: You sit down with Courtney and you realize that she
- 11:02Speaker 3: is one of the most caring, put together, loving moms
- 11:06Speaker 3: and people. Yeah, and she loves Umberto man, Yeah, and
- 11:10Speaker 3: she loves and he loves.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I mean that dude is a stud. I'm sorry, say
- 11:16Speaker 2: there meet him. I'm like, holy shit, I love for you.
- 11:19Speaker 3: And I just sit in a room with like guys
- 11:20Speaker 3: like Chalk and Jonathan and Umberto in one night and
- 11:23Speaker 3: we're just like love these guys. Yeah, and like I could,
- 11:27Speaker 3: I could see it, like those guys.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I date this guy.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't want to hang out the more like Chalk,
- 11:33Speaker 3: you want to talk a little bit after this.
- 11:34Speaker 2: First of all, Chock, I was trying so hard to
- 11:36Speaker 2: talk to Chalk before he left the night, and he's like,
- 11:39Speaker 2: it was great me and you guys were out of here.
- 11:40Speaker 2: I'm like, Chuck, I love you.
- 11:42Speaker 4: I had a time with Chalk and I love Chalk.
- 11:46Speaker 4: I love Joan.
- 11:48Speaker 2: I do too. Oh my god, I think that you
- 11:50Speaker 2: know what. I love you guys. Here's I'm gonna say something.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I think this is kind of this is kind of fun.
- 11:54Speaker 2: It's kind of a far fetch thing to say. But
- 11:56Speaker 2: first of all, lies just one thirty four to thirty one.
- 11:58Speaker 2: You're welcome, America.
- 12:00Speaker 4: For some of We Aren't Live Bob.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Uh Trista Sutter goes on Trista Wren. Trista Sutter Nay
- 12:08Speaker 2: Wren goes on this show twenty some years ago, Bombshell
- 12:12Speaker 2: Blonde chooses kind of a quiet, unassuming guy and they
- 12:16Speaker 2: have this lifelong relationship. Right Joan comes along, It's almost
- 12:21Speaker 2: like the reincarnation of this whole thing I have.
- 12:24Speaker 4: I had a weird So first of all, I will
- 12:27Speaker 4: give a secret that I did see Susie and Justin
- 12:31Speaker 4: together at Disneyland sidebar. I had to tell you that
- 12:35Speaker 4: makes me have I had a weird moment with Joan
- 12:38Speaker 4: where I flashed back to your season, not your Bachelor season,
- 12:42Speaker 4: but your Bachelorette season, because one of the things was
- 12:46Speaker 4: Joan wasn't you know when she went on She was
- 12:48Speaker 4: telling me when she went on Golden Bachelor, you know,
- 12:51Speaker 4: she hemmed in hat a little bit like should I
- 12:53Speaker 4: do this? Am I ready? And she had this like
- 12:58Speaker 4: knowledge that I need to go on because this is
- 13:01Speaker 4: the first one and you can never recreate the first one.
- 13:04Speaker 4: And I immediately thought of Trista's season like that will
- 13:09Speaker 4: never be recreated because it was so iconic and for
- 13:13Speaker 4: young people. You gotta go back and watch it because
- 13:16Speaker 4: it was the first time ever we chalk said the.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Night, which we we covered in our interview, which I
- 13:20Speaker 2: thought was great. It was the one thing that resonated
- 13:22Speaker 2: for me from this season. The guys all got along.
- 13:25Speaker 4: That's what I Bob see. Ben's too young. He Bob
- 13:31Speaker 4: and I were around at this time that.
- 13:33Speaker 2: All were around. We were making news, but.
- 13:34Speaker 4: We were all together because we're all old sugarman. They
- 13:37Speaker 4: were all They all became best friends. And the reason
- 13:41Speaker 4: the viewers, like myself loved watching it was because we
- 13:44Speaker 4: enjoyed watching you all exactly the same reason I loved
- 13:50Speaker 4: Jones season. Like, if you did not watch Jones season,
- 13:53Speaker 4: go watch it. It was I cried every episode. It
- 13:56Speaker 4: was so good. I don't know why I'm talking so much.
- 13:58Speaker 4: I think it's just because I haven't had any time
- 13:59Speaker 4: with you it.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I love it.
- 14:10Speaker 4: But here's what I want to know from Ben, what
- 14:12Speaker 4: are you two? So? So, just so everyone knows gets
- 14:15Speaker 4: a little visual, all of us are. Danielle's here, Kendall's
- 14:18Speaker 4: guitars here, the whole team, Joel's here, taking photos. We're
- 14:20Speaker 4: all still working, but soon, in about half an hour,
- 14:24Speaker 4: we're all leaving, and Bob and Ben are.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Going to be in the home camera.
- 14:30Speaker 4: You're just going to be here, the two of us,
- 14:31Speaker 4: and we created we got.
- 14:33Speaker 2: He always the camera, jillays.
- 14:37Speaker 4: I want to know what you two are going to
- 14:38Speaker 4: do when we all leave, Like I was, I just
- 14:41Speaker 4: told the boys, like go in the hot time. But
- 14:43Speaker 4: do you think you're going to like stay up late
- 14:45Speaker 4: and like so, do you think you too will bond
- 14:48Speaker 4: like fatherly bond?
- 14:49Speaker 2: Well, we've always bonded.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we've always bonded. I love Bob so much. And
- 14:55Speaker 3: uh but Bob and I both have early fights tomorrow.
- 14:58Speaker 2: We're in a five thirties like, uh, well, Bob, only
- 15:02Speaker 2: eight thirty right now?
- 15:03Speaker 3: Like no, no, a time out, Amy, Uh well, you don't
- 15:05Speaker 3: know about me. Maybe is like when you say it's
- 15:08Speaker 3: only eight thirty, like ninety nine percent of my life
- 15:11Speaker 3: means I'm already in bed, so like I'm already pushing.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Well, we we gotta adjust that, by the way, with
- 15:18Speaker 2: you having children. By the way, yeah, well right now.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Do you think he'll go to bed earlier?
- 15:22Speaker 2: Oh my god, dude, I'm I'm the late night guy,
- 15:25Speaker 2: Like that's my kind of my thing. I'm in bed
- 15:27Speaker 2: by eight thirty eight. Yeah, kids, so you're gonna be a.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Danielle over there. You know our boss Danielle. She goes
- 15:32Speaker 4: to bed at what eight fifteen?
- 15:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there there isn't There isn't a night that
- 15:39Speaker 3: Jessica and I have been home together in the last
- 15:42Speaker 3: year that I've seen ten forty five. You know, if
- 15:48Speaker 3: I saw ten forty five, it means I'm not like
- 15:50Speaker 3: falling asleep and I've like need to get up and
- 15:52Speaker 3: walk around the house for a little bit before I
- 15:53Speaker 3: go back to bed, like I bet last night. I
- 15:57Speaker 3: know for a fact, I set our sleep timer at
- 16:01Speaker 3: nine o'clock for thirty minutes, and neither of us saw
- 16:04Speaker 3: it go off at night. Can I tell you?
- 16:05Speaker 2: Can I tell you a secret about five sleep time
- 16:08Speaker 2: on your TV?
- 16:09Speaker 3: You can set the timer for when the TV turns
- 16:11Speaker 3: itself off, and I said it for thirty minutes starting
- 16:13Speaker 3: at nine o'clock time. Yeah, and I'm.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Really old, so I'm gonna I'm gonna tell you this.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Here's one thing I want you to used to so
- 16:22Speaker 2: having children, Yeah, there's there's a lot of things that
- 16:24Speaker 2: come with it. One of the things is that you
- 16:27Speaker 2: guys probably enjoy watching television shows together. Yeah, like you know,
- 16:31Speaker 2: maybe Yellowstone or Man the New One, Kelly Larder's Leopard.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Yes, and Cassie Randolph's sisters.
- 16:41Speaker 2: And Michelle Ellie Larder who was originally the famous person
- 16:46Speaker 2: for the whipped Cream bikini and Varsity Blues twenty some
- 16:51Speaker 2: years ago. All still smokeshaw. You're gonna watch a lot
- 16:56Speaker 2: of TV by yourself, So Canyon had when we had
- 17:01Speaker 2: our baby. I would be like, Hey, we're in the
- 17:04Speaker 2: middle of Sopranos or whatever it was. I mean, this
- 17:06Speaker 2: is circa nineteen sixty four, and I go, I'll meet
- 17:09Speaker 2: you downstairs once Grayson's asleep and you've milked him and
- 17:15Speaker 2: or whatever we breastfed him. Sorry, sorry breastfed mister.
- 17:19Speaker 3: I heard it, and I was like, I get it.
- 17:20Speaker 2: No, yeah, yeah, And I'm like, I'll see it downstairs,
- 17:24Speaker 2: and i'd be downstairs. It'd be six forty five. I'd
- 17:27Speaker 2: be like, oh, she'll be down here. I'm gonna make
- 17:28Speaker 2: her a cocktail and maybe some popcorn. I'm gonna set
- 17:31Speaker 2: up nice for eleven. Still by myself, Episode forty nine,
- 17:36Speaker 2: and this went on Monday through.
- 17:38Speaker 4: She's to sleep upstairs.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Oh god yeah, and it's insane. And it was like
- 17:42Speaker 2: and it's still extensive today, like the other night. Like
- 17:45Speaker 2: last night, I literally said to I go, hey, listen,
- 17:48Speaker 2: you might want to put Grayson to sleep. It's Grace's
- 17:50Speaker 2: sixth birthday. It was a chuck e cheese, very raucous event.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Twenty five people. Yeah, it's it's back. It's back. It's
- 17:56Speaker 2: not the big red mechanical thing they got like trampolines,
- 17:59Speaker 2: and and I go, I'm gonna lay down with Grayson
- 18:02Speaker 2: to put him asleep, but I'm gonna sneak out because
- 18:04Speaker 2: I got a pack. She's like, oh yeah, of course.
- 18:06Speaker 2: And I'm like, I gotta leave because my flight's gonna
- 18:08Speaker 2: leave it ye seven thirty. It didn't leave till four
- 18:12Speaker 2: that later. Travel And that's how much I love this show.
- 18:15Speaker 2: But I go, uh so if you can come in,
- 18:17Speaker 2: oh yeah, of course. So I go and I lay
- 18:19Speaker 2: down with him, and I might pretending to be asleep,
- 18:20Speaker 2: you know, And I wake up, and I'm like, I
- 18:22Speaker 2: should probably sneak out as I do. She's snoring and
- 18:26Speaker 2: has been for four hours, and that's going to be
- 18:29Speaker 2: your life and that's you know, relatively seven to forty
- 18:32Speaker 2: seven years.
- 18:33Speaker 4: I have an important question for all of you, But
- 18:35Speaker 4: before we get to my question for Bob, we should
- 18:37Speaker 4: give Ashley a shout out that the reason we are
- 18:39Speaker 4: not making Ashley travel right now is because she has
- 18:41Speaker 4: so many babies. So we will extend you that Ben
- 18:46Speaker 4: for like a month after.
- 18:47Speaker 3: The baby from you said I get two days off, I'll.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Feel it for you for three on the zooms within
- 18:52Speaker 2: two days, for thirty six.
- 18:56Speaker 4: For like a month traveling to Bob, I want to
- 18:58Speaker 4: ask you a question because I think might be curious
- 19:00Speaker 4: about this. Did having the baby help your marriage, like
- 19:05Speaker 4: like deep in your love, deep in your marriage, improve
- 19:09Speaker 4: your marriage? Or were there some tough times tough times
- 19:14Speaker 4: talked about?
- 19:14Speaker 2: However, I will say this, I think both, honestly. I
- 19:19Speaker 2: really do think both tough times. But I've never loved
- 19:22Speaker 2: my wife more like honestly, and I don't think she's
- 19:24Speaker 2: ever loved me more like. It's but you go through
- 19:26Speaker 2: these times where you're so tired, you're so physically depleted.
- 19:31Speaker 2: You don't mean to take it out on each other,
- 19:32Speaker 2: You just do, you know, and it's like you're gonna
- 19:35Speaker 2: still be working, and you're gonna still be trying to
- 19:37Speaker 2: provide for your family and doing the things that you do.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And but you're also You're you, and I are like
- 19:42Speaker 2: this way, like I the only reason I'm going a
- 19:45Speaker 2: five thirty eight flight tomorrow is because I want to
- 19:46Speaker 2: go home and help my kids. Right, I'm not going home.
- 19:49Speaker 2: There's yeah, I have a party to go to tomorrow
- 19:51Speaker 2: night with my wife, but I would make it if
- 19:53Speaker 2: I was on the nine getting home at four or thirty.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I want to go home early to help her with
- 19:57Speaker 2: the kids because she had them all day today by herself.
- 19:59Speaker 2: And that's going to be you, because that's who you are,
- 20:01Speaker 2: and I love that about you, and that's what everyone
- 20:03Speaker 2: loves about you. So the exhaustion is real, the fatigue
- 20:08Speaker 2: is real, and the sad part is the person you
- 20:11Speaker 2: love the most, your wife. You're gonna take it out
- 20:13Speaker 2: on her occasionally. She's gonna take it on you, probably
- 20:16Speaker 2: a lot more. I mean, Kenyon's a little different, but
- 20:20Speaker 2: and I say different being special and very wonderful and
- 20:23Speaker 2: incredibly love love, yes, But I mean my wife is
- 20:27Speaker 2: my wife's tough man, and I love her for it.
- 20:29Speaker 2: But I'll say this like, I think the thing that
- 20:31Speaker 2: you'll experience the most is that you what you think
- 20:35Speaker 2: is love now you don't have a clue. And I
- 20:39Speaker 2: say that because I love Kanyon more than life itself,
- 20:42Speaker 2: Like I would have never gotten married again if I
- 20:43Speaker 2: hadn't met a Kanyon. But then having our children, I'm
- 20:47Speaker 2: just like, holy shit, my head's gonna explode, Like I've
- 20:50Speaker 2: never felt this way. Someone says something kind of sideways
- 20:54Speaker 2: about my child and I'm ready to go bonkers and
- 20:57Speaker 2: I'm not that guy, and it's like this is so
- 21:00Speaker 2: deep and so different. But then when you look at
- 21:03Speaker 2: your wife and you realize that she did this, dude,
- 21:08Speaker 2: mind blowing.
- 21:08Speaker 4: What do you think?
- 21:10Speaker 3: I I'm gonna cry again. Yeah, I mean I trust
- 21:14Speaker 3: Bob for every word he ever says. I just I
- 21:17Speaker 3: get it and I get and it's cool because I
- 21:20Speaker 3: also have this funny image. Right when I told Bob
- 21:23Speaker 3: that Jessica is pregnant. Bob and I were on the
- 21:25Speaker 3: golf course and we're playing golf together and riding in
- 21:28Speaker 3: the car. We have a great time, and then Bob
- 21:30Speaker 3: shows me a text that Kenyon has sent him and
- 21:33Speaker 3: it's like so and so just pooped in the bucket.
- 21:36Speaker 3: The other one tried to throw it at him, and.
- 21:40Speaker 2: My kids are fairal yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 3: And I'm sitting in a lawn chair with a cocktail
- 21:45Speaker 3: like it was like it was the funniest text I've
- 21:47Speaker 3: ever read in my life.
- 21:48Speaker 2: And I was just like, funny, funny is that? Kapa
- 21:51Speaker 2: Kapa Gamma?
- 21:54Speaker 3: And I just and then like it's what I love.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Is what I've always loved about life is as I
- 22:00Speaker 3: get older, I care more, but I also care less
- 22:03Speaker 3: on certain things. And I'm excited to enter into a
- 22:06Speaker 3: stage again where I'll care less about probably so many
- 22:11Speaker 3: things I care so much about. Right now, I don't
- 22:14Speaker 3: care less about yourself, and I'm gonna care so much
- 22:16Speaker 3: more for something outside of me, which has always been
- 22:20Speaker 3: a healthy step in my life. It's always been healthier
- 22:22Speaker 3: for me to extend externally and not so much focus
- 22:27Speaker 3: internally and try to build up whatever I'm doing. And
- 22:32Speaker 3: I'm excited. I am because I know it's gonna make
- 22:34Speaker 3: me a better man. And I see all these dads
- 22:36Speaker 3: around me who are incredible men. Now they might not
- 22:43Speaker 3: function as you'd picture this incredible man, but they love well,
- 22:46Speaker 3: they care well, they support well, and they're flying on
- 22:50Speaker 3: five thirty fights to get home to their kids tomorrow
- 22:53Speaker 3: morning when you know.
- 22:55Speaker 2: The way guys, Yeah, it's not easy for anybody, but.
- 22:57Speaker 3: It's it's something that, like, for me, that excites me
- 23:01Speaker 3: that I'll be entering into something where I'm willing and
- 23:03Speaker 3: able and excited about. Hey, I'm gonna wake up at
- 23:06Speaker 3: the crack of dawn tomorrow just to get back home.
- 23:09Speaker 2: They'll tell you this, So Canyon, I land, and Canyon goes,
- 23:13Speaker 2: this is ridiculous, Just come home later, don't worry about it,
- 23:17Speaker 2: and she's like, get on the go back to the
- 23:19Speaker 2: nine ten. I go. No, I switched to the five
- 23:21Speaker 2: point thirty for a reason. She's like why. I'm like,
- 23:23Speaker 2: cause I want three and a half hours of my
- 23:24Speaker 2: kid before I go to this stupid party that we're hosting,
- 23:27Speaker 2: you know. And she's like, okay, well whatever, And all
- 23:31Speaker 2: I can think of was, first of all, it was
- 23:33Speaker 2: really cool that And I mean, I know justics like
- 23:36Speaker 2: this too. Like Canyon doesn't see everything. She makes fun
- 23:39Speaker 2: of me, that everything I do is a party and fun,
- 23:42Speaker 2: but she knows that, you know, a lot of it
- 23:44Speaker 2: isn't right. But she's always like she's like, no, just
- 23:47Speaker 2: enjoy yourself, Like stay there. That's the most beautiful place.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Because we've had dinner here before. In this place, Terry
- 23:51Speaker 2: Outa is so gorgeous. She's like, enjoy it. You won't
- 23:54Speaker 2: even get to see it. And I'm like, oh, it's
- 23:55Speaker 2: gonna be great. It's gonna be great. The point is
- 23:59Speaker 2: it doesn't matter when you're here without them. It's yes,
- 24:03Speaker 2: it's a it's a reprieve and it's a moment, but
- 24:06Speaker 2: all you can think about is, oh, man, I wish
- 24:07Speaker 2: my kids could see this, you know. Or it's like
- 24:09Speaker 2: when you have these kids, it's like, especially where the
- 24:12Speaker 2: age of that Grayson's at now, which is he's six,
- 24:15Speaker 2: he's become like my little best friend. Like I'll put
- 24:18Speaker 2: him in the car and we'll drive around and we
- 24:19Speaker 2: have real conversations, like and I'm blown away by how
- 24:22Speaker 2: smart he is. And that doesn't happen without Canyon putting
- 24:25Speaker 2: in that time. Like, you know, public schools are great,
- 24:29Speaker 2: and I love it, but Kanyon is the one teaching
- 24:31Speaker 2: them how to spell and how to add and how
- 24:34Speaker 2: to have a conversation. And it's it's just this beauty
- 24:37Speaker 2: that you see that you recognize in your spouse that
- 24:40Speaker 2: is is is otherworldly. It really is, and it really
- 24:44Speaker 2: makes to me to answer Amy's question long, long, long form. Yeah,
- 24:50Speaker 2: it's been really challenging at times, and I won't lie
- 24:52Speaker 2: it's been There's been times where I'm like, why does
- 24:55Speaker 2: everything have to be so hard? You know? And there's
- 24:57Speaker 2: other times like, oh my god, this is the most
- 24:59Speaker 2: magic thing I could ever imagine, and why do I
- 25:02Speaker 2: wait so long to do this. I'm forty eight when
- 25:03Speaker 2: I had my first kid, and it's like, thank God
- 25:05Speaker 2: I waited that long though, because it was with Kanyon.
- 25:08Speaker 2: When it's with the right person, that's why you do
- 25:10Speaker 2: it right, or that's and maybe it isn't having kids,
- 25:13Speaker 2: Maybe that isn't what a couple needs for us. It
- 25:16Speaker 2: was like the only reason I even thought about getting
- 25:18Speaker 2: married again was to have a family. But it wasn't
- 25:21Speaker 2: a time I met Canyon that I was willing to
- 25:23Speaker 2: do it. And I'm so thankful that I did because
- 25:25Speaker 2: she was the right person for me. And Jess is
- 25:28Speaker 2: such the right person for you. Like you guys are
- 25:30Speaker 2: like two kindness bombs just exploding together all the time.
- 25:34Speaker 2: It's like I've never met two people that are so
- 25:36Speaker 2: meant for each other in my life and the two
- 25:38Speaker 2: of you, and it's like so wonderful when you love
- 25:40Speaker 2: someone like I do. You to see Jess come along
- 25:44Speaker 2: and just make you even more lovable, It's fucking mind blowing.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it blows my mind too. I touched on this earlier, Bob,
- 25:53Speaker 3: and I want to hear from you. So you were
- 25:54Speaker 3: forty eight when you had your first kid. I mentioned that,
- 25:57Speaker 3: you know, I'm thirty five and I'm having my first kid,
- 25:59Speaker 3: and there is this I'll be one month, I guess
- 26:03Speaker 3: when our baby is born, I'll be one month away
- 26:05Speaker 3: from turning thirty six, with thirty five years of my
- 26:10Speaker 3: life what I would call being selfish, because that's really
- 26:14Speaker 3: just who I've been, right, I'm living my life. I'm
- 26:18Speaker 3: doing the things I want to do. I'm investing into
- 26:20Speaker 3: the time and the people that I want to invest into,
- 26:23Speaker 3: you know, And so there is this unique fear, I
- 26:29Speaker 3: guess of how in the world do I kind of
- 26:32Speaker 3: rip that selfishness out of me? And we talked about
- 26:34Speaker 3: it with the Golden Ladies and it was great. But
- 26:36Speaker 3: I would love for you to dive into what it
- 26:38Speaker 3: felt like at forty eight to have your first kid,
- 26:40Speaker 3: living forty eight years of your life without a child,
- 26:44Speaker 3: and still finding the space to not be resentful towards
- 26:49Speaker 3: this fact that this kid walked into your world and
- 26:52Speaker 3: ripped it all up and said, Nope, my time is yours. Now,
- 26:55Speaker 3: how did you make that transitions?
- 26:57Speaker 2: Well, first of all, I would say I I would
- 27:01Speaker 2: be more definitive of the word selfish than you. You
- 27:04Speaker 2: are very kind and giving person. I didn't go anywhere
- 27:10Speaker 2: and dig wells, and I didn't go anywhere and provide
- 27:13Speaker 2: water and all the things that you've done. I was
- 27:15Speaker 2: somebody who was at every party in Hollywood, you know,
- 27:18Speaker 2: So my my version of selfish is probably a lot
- 27:20Speaker 2: different than yours. And I mean that necessarily. I think
- 27:23Speaker 2: we're both very kind and very giving people. And I've
- 27:26Speaker 2: known any forever and I love her so much. She
- 27:29Speaker 2: could probably speak to that, like, you're just a different
- 27:31Speaker 2: person than me. I mean, I didn't do the things
- 27:33Speaker 2: that you do, So you saying your selfish, you saying
- 27:37Speaker 2: your selfish is a different version of me saying I'm selfish.
- 27:40Speaker 3: The same idea exists, though, like me doing what I
- 27:42Speaker 3: love to do and you do what you love to
- 27:44Speaker 3: do are the same thing. We both said we love
- 27:47Speaker 3: to do these things.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Right, And I did, and I didn't even I didn't
- 27:50Speaker 2: think I want kidd I didn't think I wanted kids
- 27:52Speaker 2: at a certain point. But I will say this, like,
- 27:57Speaker 2: you know, hosting the Playboy Jazz and Playboy Radio and
- 28:01Speaker 2: all that dumb shit I did for so many years,
- 28:03Speaker 2: and I just thought, oh, I guess that's what I'm
- 28:04Speaker 2: supposed to be doing, and my sister being like you
- 28:08Speaker 2: shallow piece of s you know. I mean, there was
- 28:11Speaker 2: a point where I'm like, my sister, I'll never forget it.
- 28:14Speaker 2: She calls me, She's like, you are not bringing Jennifer
- 28:16Speaker 2: Love Hewitt to the cottage from a Royal day weekend.
- 28:18Speaker 2: I'm like, I didn't even say I was. She's like,
- 28:20Speaker 2: I know you're dating or doda dumb stuff like that.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Like that's to me, is selfish.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Can we just possible?
- 28:25Speaker 5: No?
- 28:25Speaker 2: No, no, We're not going back on there. Point is
- 28:28Speaker 2: what I'm trying to say, is I think that my
- 28:33Speaker 2: I don't know what path of self destruction I might
- 28:36Speaker 2: have been on without my children, but I do know
- 28:39Speaker 2: that I was always pretty mindful in Midwestern about the
- 28:42Speaker 2: way I approach things, which I think is a huge
- 28:44Speaker 2: Badge of Honor with I love Midwestern values and I
- 28:47Speaker 2: love that I love in stewing that in my children.
- 28:50Speaker 2: But I was still kind of like, you know, what's next.
- 28:52Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm just every next thing that comes,
- 28:55Speaker 2: I'm just taking it and running with it. And I'm
- 28:57Speaker 2: still surviving. I guess there came a point where I
- 29:00Speaker 2: was like, there's got to be something more than this. Yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 2: And like for me, like I think about like my
- 29:05Speaker 2: relationship with with Canyon, Like I love her and she's
- 29:08Speaker 2: incredibly smart and insightful and intelligent. I don't know what
- 29:13Speaker 2: we'd be talking about ten years later if we didn't
- 29:15Speaker 2: have a kid, you know, And I'm so thankful that
- 29:17Speaker 2: I got something else to focus on besides me. Like,
- 29:21Speaker 2: you know, one of the funniest things that happens in
- 29:23Speaker 2: our life, and this happens literally on a daily basis,
- 29:26Speaker 2: is my six year old Grayson. I'll be like, I'll
- 29:28Speaker 2: take in the McDonald's playland and I'll be like, hey, buddy, day,
- 29:31Speaker 2: can we get French fries? No? Not today. We'll have
- 29:34Speaker 2: a bottle of water. And you know, I'm just like
- 29:37Speaker 2: be complaining the playlin like this right in her house
- 29:40Speaker 2: and He'll go in and literally the woman who's like
- 29:42Speaker 2: a twelve year old McDonald's waitress will walk over with
- 29:45Speaker 2: a tray with a bottle of water on it, and
- 29:46Speaker 2: he'll yell from the playland, Yeah, it's him, he's the bachelor.
- 29:50Speaker 2: You can get a picture with him. I'm like, what,
- 29:53Speaker 2: And it's become so funny, like it's no longer I don't.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I think I was trying to say it earlier tonight
- 29:58Speaker 2: to somebody of it. I was like, I was like,
- 30:00Speaker 2: trust me, it goes from being like a cool thing
- 30:02Speaker 2: to being this like semi famous guy to actually being
- 30:05Speaker 2: really laughable. If you can look at this and laugh
- 30:07Speaker 2: at yourself, then you've actually kind of made it to
- 30:09Speaker 2: the point where I'm actually going to really be your friend.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Because I think I used to always say it to
- 30:14Speaker 2: when they would ask me for advice for the new bachelors,
- 30:15Speaker 2: and I would always go, you're not Ben Affleck, And
- 30:18Speaker 2: if a monkey hands out of flower and doesn't give
- 30:20Speaker 2: one of those girls a flower, she's gonna cry. Think
- 30:23Speaker 2: about it that way and get over yourself, you know.
- 30:25Speaker 2: And I clearly wasn't around for much of the advice sessions,
- 30:28Speaker 2: but that was my mindset of the show was I
- 30:31Speaker 2: was like, get over you, like it isn't about you.
- 30:33Speaker 2: And I got over it really fast with my kids.
- 30:36Speaker 2: If I hadn't been over it previously. I realized really
- 30:39Speaker 2: quickly that the one thing I learned from my children
- 30:41Speaker 2: was it's no longer about me. And I love that,
- 30:44Speaker 2: Like I really love investing in them, and I love
- 30:47Speaker 2: watching them even when they're watching me, because it gives
- 30:51Speaker 2: you a different view of even how to see yourself.
- 30:56Speaker 2: But I've also I want to say this too, like
- 30:59Speaker 2: love your wife more than you've ever loved her in
- 31:01Speaker 2: these times because Kraigan. But I think that it's important
- 31:08Speaker 2: because my dad loved my mom so much and my
- 31:11Speaker 2: dad is no longer with us, and I want my
- 31:14Speaker 2: kids to feel that way about love, like the way
- 31:16Speaker 2: I feel about my dad and my mom's love. Like,
- 31:18Speaker 2: you know, I didn't know their problems. I never saw them.
- 31:22Speaker 2: All I saw was these two people who, no matter what,
- 31:24Speaker 2: they get through it. And so I want my kids
- 31:27Speaker 2: to see that. And so you know, if and we
- 31:30Speaker 2: probably bicker in front of them too much and all
- 31:33Speaker 2: that kind of stuff, which is maybe a good thing,
- 31:34Speaker 2: maybe bad thing. I'm sure there's a doctor's pock book
- 31:36Speaker 2: about all that shit. The point is like, you'll never
- 31:40Speaker 2: love your wife more than when you see her dealing
- 31:42Speaker 2: with your children. And I think you should never let
- 31:44Speaker 2: your children see it more how much you love your wife,
- 31:47Speaker 2: because that's going to be what they see in relationships.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Your daughter needs to know that a man should respect her.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Your daughter needs to know that a man should put
- 31:57Speaker 2: her first. Right, It's just like my son need to
- 32:00Speaker 2: know that they should put a woman first, in a
- 32:02Speaker 2: woman that they love first. It's important to.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Me, Bob, as I h any other advice. I didn't
- 32:20Speaker 3: ask you for advice, and I would love to have
- 32:22Speaker 3: any advice. You just shared some great stuff about loving
- 32:24Speaker 3: my wife well, and that will sit with me. She
- 32:29Speaker 3: deserves it one and she's great, so that's easy.
- 32:32Speaker 2: You're not gonna always want to though, yeah, because she's
- 32:34Speaker 2: not always going to be super nice, you know, I mean,
- 32:37Speaker 2: at least you know my experience. But yeah, no, I
- 32:41Speaker 2: think it's I think it's pretty amazing, like when you
- 32:43Speaker 2: go through these moments, especially as your as your daughter
- 32:45Speaker 2: gets older, and I'm assuming you guys will probably have
- 32:48Speaker 2: another kid and stuff, you know, but you know who knows.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know. You don't need any advice
- 32:53Speaker 2: from me. Dude, I'm a disasker.
- 32:55Speaker 4: What are you most worried about?
- 32:56Speaker 2: Yeah, what are you most worried about?
- 32:57Speaker 3: Is a day? I said it, like the selfishness. Like personally,
- 33:01Speaker 3: what I'm most worried about is this, like this idea
- 33:03Speaker 3: that I've just gotten. You know, when I get you
- 33:07Speaker 3: get married, there's there's things that you kind of not
- 33:12Speaker 3: rip away, but there's different rhythms, different things that you
- 33:16Speaker 3: implement in your life to be a good husband. My
- 33:20Speaker 3: passions and my desires and all those things that haven't
- 33:23Speaker 3: had to change since marriage. Because Jessica, it's like that's
- 33:26Speaker 3: not where I married you. I didn't marry you so
- 33:28Speaker 3: you become some like version of yourself. I married you
- 33:30Speaker 3: to be the best version of yourself, which is increasing
- 33:34Speaker 3: those things.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Which speak her confidence.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's awesome. But with a kid, you know, there's
- 33:41Speaker 3: a whole different like mindset where it's like, no, some
- 33:43Speaker 3: of those things have to be changed, Like a new
- 33:45Speaker 3: version of myself has to exist because my handicap can't
- 33:49Speaker 3: get below a five.
- 33:50Speaker 5: Now every you're playing that, let's go fun and because
- 33:56Speaker 5: like you know, there's just things that have to change
- 33:59Speaker 5: and have to be tweaked.
- 34:00Speaker 3: And I think that's what I'm most fearful of. Is
- 34:02Speaker 3: am I going to be able to do that without resentment?
- 34:06Speaker 3: And am I going to be able to do that
- 34:07Speaker 3: with excitement and joy? That's what I'm fearful of, because
- 34:12Speaker 3: I don't do things well out of resentment. Even if
- 34:15Speaker 3: it's out of even if it's the right thing, there
- 34:18Speaker 3: has to be a better reason. And I know the
- 34:21Speaker 3: reason is because I want to be a dad that's present.
- 34:24Speaker 3: As Umberto was saying the night, I want to be
- 34:26Speaker 3: a dad that's available. I want to be a dad
- 34:28Speaker 3: that's that's there, not a dad that's like, yeah, I
- 34:30Speaker 3: remember dad playing golf five days a week. Right. What
- 34:35Speaker 3: I'm also, I mean, I think I'm fearful about I
- 34:37Speaker 3: was saying. I was talking to Courtney about tonight, and
- 34:39Speaker 3: I don't think she'll mind me sharing it. We have
- 34:41Speaker 3: the same thing where we have worst case scenario thinking
- 34:44Speaker 3: at night. So when I lay my head on the
- 34:46Speaker 3: pillar tonight, no matter what I know it, I'll have
- 34:49Speaker 3: some type of negative thoughts flow into my head. It
- 34:53Speaker 3: will be something about I'm assuming tonight of who I
- 34:56Speaker 3: didn't talk to or what I said to somebody, or
- 34:58Speaker 3: maybe I didn't talk to somebody too, like a recap
- 35:01Speaker 3: a recap, and my recaps are always pretty harsh. So
- 35:04Speaker 3: I'm working with somebody right now, harsh on yourself, on myself.
- 35:09Speaker 3: The other side of this is my worst case scenario
- 35:11Speaker 3: thinking when I first got married, was Jessica's going to
- 35:14Speaker 3: work tomorrow morning and night. I start to have these
- 35:16Speaker 3: thoughts and these fears about her driving to work, or
- 35:18Speaker 3: even as silly as like when I got a puppy,
- 35:21Speaker 3: is our puppy in the crate gonna be okay tonight?
- 35:23Speaker 3: Is he thirsty?
- 35:24Speaker 2: You have some anxiety issues.
- 35:25Speaker 3: I have some anxiety issues. And I'm just starting to
- 35:28Speaker 3: figure this out for the first time in my life,
- 35:30Speaker 3: mostly because I started talking to my some my mentor
- 35:34Speaker 3: and my growth coach whatever, gonna call him about this,
- 35:36Speaker 3: and he's like, you have some anxiety issues, and when
- 35:39Speaker 3: you have a baby, this is going to only increase
- 35:41Speaker 3: because you're gonna have a little human that you're like literally.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Responsible for every single thing.
- 35:47Speaker 3: So that's a fear of mine, is how does that
- 35:49Speaker 3: play out? What does that look like?
- 35:51Speaker 4: I think that's the hardest part.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Yeah too, I mean do you know what it is.
- 35:55Speaker 2: It's one of those things that I think I'm the
- 35:59Speaker 2: opposite of you in that regard. Like I I hate
- 36:03Speaker 2: to say it, I don't think about anything. I don't know.
- 36:06Speaker 2: I mean maybe I do and I just don't realize it.
- 36:08Speaker 2: But I think that Kanyon thinks. Kanyon is probably more
- 36:11Speaker 2: like you in that regard, Like she really thinks about everything, you.
- 36:14Speaker 3: See, Jessica doesn't like.
- 36:15Speaker 2: So I think I think jess and I are probably
- 36:17Speaker 2: justin and I like you and Kanyon like in that regard.
- 36:20Speaker 2: But I think that's what makes a good parenting team.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Like you know, if you're both obsessing over every little detail,
- 36:27Speaker 2: what a disaster for that child, right, you got one
- 36:31Speaker 2: of us going back off, you know, I mean Kenyon
- 36:34Speaker 2: and I. I will say this, like Kanyon and I
- 36:38Speaker 2: have the most honest relationship I've ever had in my life.
- 36:40Speaker 2: And I've been married a lot. No. No, but you
- 36:44Speaker 2: know I say that joking, but you know, the first
- 36:47Speaker 2: one kind of counted, no, But it's true. Like I
- 36:52Speaker 2: think about it, like I never fought with my access,
- 36:55Speaker 2: I never argue with him because I love them and
- 36:58Speaker 2: I cared about them, and we got along and I'm
- 37:03Speaker 2: not saying I didn't care enough, but I the stakes
- 37:08Speaker 2: were what the stakes were, and it was like, does
- 37:10Speaker 2: it matter if I win this argument?
- 37:12Speaker 3: A f f it?
- 37:13Speaker 2: You know. Now we and it's been like this since
- 37:16Speaker 2: our at the beginning of a relationship, though before we
- 37:18Speaker 2: had children, i'd be like, so honest, that was painful
- 37:24Speaker 2: for me because I hate confrontation. So i'd be like,
- 37:26Speaker 2: you know, uh yeah, I call you Canyon because I
- 37:30Speaker 2: dated a girl named Jessica. In fact, i'm still dating her.
- 37:33Speaker 2: She used on an Oscan and my co host is
- 37:35Speaker 2: Jessica and she introduced us, and I just can't keep
- 37:37Speaker 2: it straight in my head sometimes because I, you know,
- 37:39Speaker 2: I think you're all kind of cute. So I'm just
- 37:41Speaker 2: gonna call you Kenyan, and Kenya is like, okay, I'm like,
- 37:45Speaker 2: what the hell? Why is she actually not fighting with me?
- 37:47Speaker 2: And but it was like we like she was so
- 37:50Speaker 2: comfortable and confident in her own skin that I couldn't
- 37:53Speaker 2: I didn't want to not just give her all the
- 37:57Speaker 2: chips on the table. Like so when I think about
- 38:00Speaker 2: like relationships and I think about things like like she's
- 38:02Speaker 2: the one person who I can honestly say, like you
- 38:05Speaker 2: could bring up anything for my past and I'd go, oh, yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 2: she knows that one. That's a funny one. Remember this one?
- 38:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, I know that one. Like it was
- 38:11Speaker 2: like one of these things. But what I love about
- 38:13Speaker 2: it is that for our future, it also kind of
- 38:17Speaker 2: sets the stakes in a certain way as well, like
- 38:19Speaker 2: I can trust her with anything. And we kind of
- 38:23Speaker 2: touched on it tonight when I said, when we were
- 38:25Speaker 2: having our second child, my my biggest fear, which was
- 38:29Speaker 2: do I have enough love in me to give to
- 38:31Speaker 2: another kid? You know, like I've never loved anyone the
- 38:35Speaker 2: way I love Grayson are firstborn, and now here's coming
- 38:39Speaker 2: this second child. Holy shit, it's a boy. Do I
- 38:42Speaker 2: have enough love for another little boy? I don't know
- 38:45Speaker 2: if I can do it. And I was really doubting
- 38:47Speaker 2: myself and I didn't because I was, you know, I'm old,
- 38:49Speaker 2: and I'm like, what the hell, I don't even know
- 38:51Speaker 2: if I have this capability, And trust me, you do.
- 38:55Speaker 2: It's amazing how much I love Blake as well. But
- 38:58Speaker 2: it's like, you know, I think having that self out
- 39:00Speaker 2: and having having the ability to kind of like look
- 39:03Speaker 2: within and challenge yourself a little bit, you already beat
- 39:07Speaker 2: the system. The guys they have to worry about that
- 39:10Speaker 2: stuff for the guys who don't think about it. The
- 39:12Speaker 2: fact that you're thinking about it, God bless you, dude,
- 39:14Speaker 2: and your your family and your wife and your children
- 39:17Speaker 2: are going to be so much better for it because
- 39:20Speaker 2: you're thinking about it. Like, at the end of the day,
- 39:23Speaker 2: I don't know what the right answer is, because clearly
- 39:25Speaker 2: I don't know anything.
- 39:25Speaker 4: In the world that you worry less about being an Higgins.
- 39:29Speaker 2: No, Ben Higgins is the most sincere and thoughtful and
- 39:32Speaker 2: kind person.
- 39:33Speaker 4: For a long time, and I have not one ounce
- 39:37Speaker 4: of concern about you being the ultimate dad.
- 39:42Speaker 3: Not even I wore my dad's sweater and I hoping you.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Say that he's also wearing loafers, and.
- 39:50Speaker 2: So I want to say this, I so agree with you, sugar.
- 39:54Speaker 2: So one of the nicest compliments I ever got in
- 39:57Speaker 2: my life was when I would say we're having a baby,
- 39:59Speaker 2: and there, oh, you're going to be the greatest dad.
- 40:02Speaker 2: I I feel like it's almost an embarrassment that people
- 40:04Speaker 2: would say that to me now that you're having a kid,
- 40:07Speaker 2: because I and I do feel like I'm a really
- 40:10Speaker 2: good dad and I'm super hands on and I care,
- 40:12Speaker 2: and I'm I'm but Ben, You're just You're just You've
- 40:15Speaker 2: been built to be a dad dad, and you're.
- 40:17Speaker 4: An old soul. You're also about that tonight with all
- 40:20Speaker 4: the golden ladies.
- 40:21Speaker 2: But I said that to you when you wrote your book,
- 40:23Speaker 2: and I remember calling you and I were on the phone.
- 40:25Speaker 2: It was it was kind of during the whole Harrison
- 40:27Speaker 2: thing and you and I were talking, and I remember
- 40:29Speaker 2: saying to you, I was like, dude, you're just such
- 40:31Speaker 2: an old soul, like I feel like he's an og
- 40:35Speaker 2: even though you're ten years.
- 40:36Speaker 4: After me, you are the oldest thirty.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Yeah, you're I And that's the nicest compliment that I
- 40:42Speaker 2: do so I can give you.
- 40:44Speaker 3: I take it as a complement. Yeah, I mean credit
- 40:47Speaker 3: to my family too, Like credit to my friends and
- 40:49Speaker 3: my family who always, no matter what was happening, pulled
- 40:53Speaker 3: me back to reality, give me perspective. And I think
- 40:58Speaker 3: that's a gift, just always having the best of people
- 41:03Speaker 3: around you, two to speak into you, to hold you accountable,
- 41:09Speaker 3: to celebrate you. And that's the best thing. And it's
- 41:12Speaker 3: been the best part of this show too, is you know,
- 41:15Speaker 3: coming off the show, not everybody's awesome, A lot of
- 41:17Speaker 3: people are. I'd say most are, but to find the
- 41:21Speaker 3: few that are like just good rocks to surround yourself with.
- 41:27Speaker 4: And Ben, what about when we started this podcast, Like
- 41:30Speaker 4: we started this podcast on like this a very sad
- 41:34Speaker 4: day for you, And how many years has it been?
- 41:36Speaker 4: Eight nine?
- 41:39Speaker 3: Can we started this podcast in the day that not
- 41:42Speaker 3: strategically that the relationship was I remember, yeah, Amy was
- 41:47Speaker 3: seeing dollar signs, I.
- 41:49Speaker 4: Was, but I knew your heart was so broken the
- 41:54Speaker 4: day we started. And thank God for Ashley who really
- 41:56Speaker 4: like she's been such a best dye to you, you
- 42:00Speaker 4: know what I mean, But like your heart was broken
- 42:03Speaker 4: when we started this podcast, and to be with you
- 42:05Speaker 4: over this many years to see your heart mend. It
- 42:11Speaker 4: healed in front of my eyes, It grew in front
- 42:16Speaker 4: of my eyes, it filled up, just filled it up
- 42:22Speaker 4: like to such a bigger than it was before. And
- 42:27Speaker 4: now like this is your dream.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it's cool.
- 42:32Speaker 4: It's just like and I'm excited for the next eight
- 42:35Speaker 4: years to see you and what happens. And I hope
- 42:41Speaker 4: everyone comes on that ride with you because they are
- 42:45Speaker 4: in it with you.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Like it's wild. It's wild to think that we started
- 42:49Speaker 3: this as two single humans and soon we'll have three
- 42:54Speaker 3: kids a part of.
- 42:55Speaker 4: This show, and I eat my words every day. When
- 42:59Speaker 4: Ashley would call me or call me asking me to
- 43:02Speaker 4: do something for Jared. This is way before they were together.
- 43:05Speaker 4: She'd be like, let's get Jared tickets of this, and
- 43:07Speaker 4: I'm like, Ashley, this guy's not treating you, and she's
- 43:12Speaker 4: she just knew. I have such respect for Ashley because
- 43:15Speaker 4: she loved him, and she was like, I am going
- 43:17Speaker 4: to be patient.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I remember feeling that way them to look at her.
- 43:21Speaker 4: I mean, if I couldn't eat my words more, she
- 43:24Speaker 4: you know, sugarman.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I remember because I didn't know either one of them,
- 43:27Speaker 2: but I knew him from the show. I knew you,
- 43:30Speaker 2: and I knew others. But I remember thinking, why is
- 43:33Speaker 2: she keep lining herself up for this? She was now
- 43:36Speaker 2: he is so committed and devoted.
- 43:38Speaker 4: So obsessed in love with her, and it's just like wow,
- 43:43Speaker 4: she knew she was getting down her guy.
- 43:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's wild. Well, it's an exciting time for the
- 43:49Speaker 3: Almost Famis podcast. I appreciate you both. I love you both.
- 43:52Speaker 4: Thanks for letting me jump in because I love this show.
- 43:55Speaker 2: We had to do a producer sash Yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 4: Sometimes and then I'll get a lot of hate mash.
- 43:59Speaker 2: How would you ever get hat.
- 44:00Speaker 3: She has her own podcast?
- 44:01Speaker 4: Now I have too.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Can I tell quick Sugarman story before we bring up please?
- 44:06Speaker 2: So I want to say this, and I know you
- 44:08Speaker 2: know this story, but here's why I love Sugarman so much,
- 44:10Speaker 2: and I would follow her into fire, I swear to
- 44:12Speaker 2: God so uh many many years ago. Do you mind
- 44:15Speaker 2: me telling this story? Do you want to say?
- 44:16Speaker 4: I have to remember it. I known Bob for so long.
- 44:18Speaker 2: It's so when I had just come off The Bachelor,
- 44:21Speaker 2: and Amy Sugarman was the booking coordinator and all the
- 44:26Speaker 2: other things you did for the seacrest stuff, and I
- 44:30Speaker 2: was getting sued by the Bachelor franchise. Can I talk
- 44:32Speaker 2: about this?
- 44:33Speaker 4: Of course?
- 44:33Speaker 2: Of course, this is why I love Amy Sugarman so much.
- 44:36Speaker 2: This is one of the many reasons. But and Amy
- 44:39Speaker 2: was always my friend, and she would book me for
- 44:41Speaker 2: many years after this with band from TV and all
- 44:43Speaker 2: the other things we would do. But at that time,
- 44:46Speaker 2: I was being sued by the Bachelor franchise and I
- 44:48Speaker 2: wasn't allowed to talk about the reason why they had
- 44:50Speaker 2: me on the show in the first place, which was
- 44:52Speaker 2: my music career and The only way I could talk
- 44:55Speaker 2: about it is if the host brought it up. It
- 44:58Speaker 2: was in it was in us, like Lee Order and
- 45:02Speaker 2: I and I just I have to talk about this
- 45:04Speaker 2: because you're on the show with me right now. So
- 45:07Speaker 2: I would go on all these shows and they all knew,
- 45:10Speaker 2: they were all my friends, the hosts and stuff, and
- 45:12Speaker 2: no one would ever bring it up. So we would
- 45:13Speaker 2: talk about the Bachelor, you know, never talk about anything else.
- 45:17Speaker 2: I'd go on Seacrest and he would go and first
- 45:19Speaker 2: of all, to have Ryan Seacrest bring up your music
- 45:21Speaker 2: career was a big deal, right, and Seacrest would go, well,
- 45:23Speaker 2: hold on, hold on, let's talk about your music career. So,
- 45:27Speaker 2: I mean, you've been doing this for a really long time,
- 45:29Speaker 2: and you know, and I'm like Amy Sugarman, and I
- 45:35Speaker 2: knew it was always Amy Sugarman, and I loved you
- 45:38Speaker 2: so much for it. You could have called me to
- 45:40Speaker 2: do anything and I would do it. But I was
- 45:42Speaker 2: always like man and I and I've said it to
- 45:44Speaker 2: anyone who will listen for many years. I'm like, you know,
- 45:46Speaker 2: when you make friends in Hollywood, it's very rare, but
- 45:49Speaker 2: when you make friends in Hollywood, it will actually stick
- 45:51Speaker 2: up for you, when you're getting your ass kicked, it's
- 45:53Speaker 2: like it's it's an unbelievable feeling, because when you feel
- 45:56Speaker 2: like you're getting attacked, it's a really lonely place, you know,
- 46:00Speaker 2: especially when you're from the Midwest and all of a
- 46:02Speaker 2: sudden you're in LA and you know, and and I
- 46:05Speaker 2: just appreciate you and thank you for you know, creating
- 46:08Speaker 2: this for all of us, and thanks for giving us
- 46:10Speaker 2: a space, but thanks for always having our back because
- 46:13Speaker 2: a lot of people didn't and you did, and so
- 46:15Speaker 2: I love you for that. So thank you.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Do you remember that?
- 46:20Speaker 4: Yeah, of course, Ben, I ever remember the same moments
- 46:23Speaker 4: with you in tears and you having the same thing
- 46:25Speaker 4: that happened to Bob, and y'all just.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Stick together, we sure do.
- 46:30Speaker 4: You just stick it out.
- 46:31Speaker 3: You know. I didn't even know Ben until next time.
