- 1:36SPEAKER_02: They did the song, it was like hashtag hashtag, hashtag.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: I forgot all about that.
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: Uh so the off the bat, uh you brought something up.
- 1:46SPEAKER_04: Actually, you mentioned this to me a little while ago.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: And yeah, I've been stewing about this for a while.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: I thought you were joking, but uh actually, can can I I want to look it up because you said it was guitar guitar or no, it's just guitar.com.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: I who I've never heard of.
- 2:02SPEAKER_04: Um so you know, we've we've talked about um you know these lists.
- 2:07SPEAKER_04: Rolling Stone had a list of the greatest guitar players.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I saw that posted again today.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Matilla had it had commented on her or something like that, and I'm like and it was it's just so stupid.
- 2:17SPEAKER_04: Um well there's another list.
- 2:22SPEAKER_04: Uh I wonder if I can search this site, yeah.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: Probably.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: Let's see.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: Um Best Best Guitar Players of the Last 20 Years.
- 2:32SPEAKER_04: Um right there.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: There it is.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: This is the article right here.
- 2:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:37SPEAKER_04: Uh this just blows my mind.
- 2:39SPEAKER_04: Okay, so the headline uh for guitar.com, Taylor Swift.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: And first of all, let's you know, I always I always preface anytime I'm talking about Taylor Swift by saying that she's supremely talented.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, I'm I'm not I'm I don't question the fact that she is, because she she obviously is.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: She can sing, she can play instruments, she can write songs, yeah, she can do it.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: I I'm not I'm not disparaging her talent.
- 3:06SPEAKER_04: I'm not by any means a Swifty.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, I'm yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_04: I I'm an anti-Swifty.
- 3:11SPEAKER_04: I like I liked her music earlier, and and I some of her music, I guess, is is fine.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: Um I am tired of her.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she is it's like you cannot get away from her.
- 3:23SPEAKER_04: But here's the headline Taylor Swift voted the eighth best guitarist of the last two decades.
- 3:32SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 3:34SPEAKER_04: I don't I don't get it.
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: Uh Red Hot Chili Peppers John Fruciani cla claims the top spot in a new poll that I'm not by guitar guitar.
- 3:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: Uh not saying he's not good because he is great.
- 3:51SPEAKER_04: Uh so should we uh we have got the it's the top twenty.
- 3:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:54SPEAKER_04: Okay, it's the top twenty.
- 3:55SPEAKER_04: So if you are even if you aren't a guitar player, you know guitar players.
- 4:03SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: You know you know who Eric Clapton is because they'll talk about Eric Clapton a lot.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: You know Eddie Van Halen, you know Jimi Hendrix, right?
- 4:13SPEAKER_04: Um you know, and I don't know if this was purposely done this way, but let's just start with number two.
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: I don't think it has any basis in you know in real technique or I think it's just a popularity thing.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Well I you know, who's your favorite guitarist of the last 20 years?
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: You know, that kind of thing.
- 4:32SPEAKER_04: And they must have done it, well, you know, we should read the article.
- 4:36SPEAKER_04: Um oh no, it's a poll.
- 4:38SPEAKER_04: So it's whoever whoever reads guitar.com.
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: Uh and so people that read guitar.com apparently uh aren't guitar players.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: I think they just stumbled upon it because they saw Taylor Swift.
- 4:53SPEAKER_04: Number 20, Julian Baker.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: I don't know who Julian Baker is.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: No idea.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: Uh Julian Baker may be a fantastic, probably is a fantastic guitar.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: Well, if they're on the list, they must be decent.
- 5:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, at least anything away from it.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: No.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: Ed Sheeran is number 19.
- 5:08SPEAKER_04: Ed Sheeran is a great guitar.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: He's a great guitar player, yeah.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Adam Hahn from the 1975.
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: Again, don't know.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: Don't know.
- 5:16SPEAKER_02: I have no idea.
- 5:17SPEAKER_04: Um her, H E R.
- 5:20SPEAKER_04: I have heard of her.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: Well, she was on the Super Bowl half-life.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: She was on the Super Bowl.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: She's a great guitar player.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: She is a great guitar player.
- 5:26SPEAKER_04: I don't know if I'd put her in the top 20 in the past two decades.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: Well, that's the thing.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: Is it is it like people that have emerged in the last 20 days or still going in the last 20 years?
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: It's gotta be.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: It's gotta be it.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: It came out in the last but I don't know.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: Well, let me just list the uh so Albert Hammer Jr.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: of the Strokes, number sixteen.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: Uh Troy Van Leeuwen of the Queens of the Stone Age at number 15.
- 5:52SPEAKER_04: Brad Paisley, number 14.
- 5:55SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 5:56SPEAKER_04: John Five of Motley Crew Now is is number 13.
- 6:01SPEAKER_04: Keith Urban, number twelve.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: Jim Root from Slipknot is number eleven.
- 6:06SPEAKER_04: Simon Neal from Biffy Clyro is number 10.
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: Tom DeLong of Blink 182 is number nine.
- 6:16SPEAKER_04: Taylor Swift is number eight.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: Let me just go down these real quick because that is the biggest uh issue that we have.
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:23SPEAKER_04: Uh Ed O'Brien from Radiohead, Chris Schifflet of the Foo Fighters, Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead, Sam Fender, John Mayer's number three, Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys is number two, and John Fruciani of the Red Hot Chili Peppers number one.
- 6:35SPEAKER_04: Okay, let's let's go back.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: Well, the what hap makes me happy about the list is that John Mayer is number three.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: He dumped her or she dumped him.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: So it's like Dear John.
- 6:44SPEAKER_04: She has a song called Dear John, isn't it?
- 6:46SPEAKER_04: Supposedly about it.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: I think it's about him.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: So I don't know.
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: So so right off the bat, this is the eye of our existence at this point.
- 6:55SPEAKER_04: Um Taylor Swift is number eight.
- 6:56SPEAKER_04: So Taylor Swift, effectively, according to this list, is a better guitar player than Keith Urban, John Five, and Brad Paisley.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: I just can't believe that j Brad Paisley is number fourteen.
- 7:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Has anybody ever seen or heard Brad Paisley play guitar?
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: No, Brad Paisley is below and I'm not taking anything away from um from uh Tom DeLong of Blink 182.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: I'm actually surprised he made that list because, you know, he's into UFOs now.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: So Yeah.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: I'm being dead serious.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: He's actually he's actually started a you know a program about studying UFOs.
- 7:44SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean it's becoming more and more of a it's becoming more of a thing.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: I understand that.
- 7:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm I'm just kind of surprised that he still has time to play guitar.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: When was the last time Blink 182 came out with a new song?
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: True.
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: Well, no, they had a new album out.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: Oh, did they?
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I have it.
- 8:01SPEAKER_04: I totally missed it.
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: I have it, and it's not yeah, it's not bad.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, I like Blink 182, that's the thing.
- 8:07SPEAKER_04: But a better guitar player um than Brad Paisley?
- 8:11SPEAKER_04: I think Tom DeLong would take issue with that.
- 8:13SPEAKER_02: I think he would too.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:15SPEAKER_02: I mean, I think all these guys would take issue that Brad Paisley is listed so low.
- 8:20SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Because he's an amazing guitar player.
- 8:22SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: I'd like to see John Five and Tom DeLong chicken pick like uh Brad Paisley.
- 8:28SPEAKER_04: It's not only that, I mean Brad Paisley plays the way he does, but he can play But he can also play rock hot for teacher in Van Halen.
- 8:34SPEAKER_04: He's done it in concert.
- 8:35SPEAKER_04: I mean, there's video of it on YouTube.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: So um it's yeah.
- 8:39SPEAKER_04: But all of these guys are below Taylor Swift.
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: Number eight.
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: She's at number eight.
- 8:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: I don't I just I just don't get it.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, I've never heard Taylor Swift shred anything.
- 8:52SPEAKER_04: Uh she barely plays guitar on stage.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: Well, that's what I'm saying.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: It's more it seems like you remember when Elvis used to play guitar on stage?
- 8:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: That's what I equated to.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: George Strait.
- 9:02SPEAKER_04: You just Yeah, George Strait, same thing.
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: You brought this in my head because George Strait broke a record recently.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you saw that.
- 9:08SPEAKER_04: 110,000.
- 9:09SPEAKER_04: 110,000 paying, you know, bought tickets for uh a stadium in where was it?
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: Texas?
- 9:17SPEAKER_04: Was it Texas?
- 9:18SPEAKER_04: Somewhere.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: It was it was in the South anyway.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: But uh, this is a guy that's not played on the radio anymore.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: And uh but the reason I bring him up and bring that that up is because oftentimes he's just wearing the guitar.
- 9:31SPEAKER_04: He's not playing guitar.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: He doesn't I I I honestly have never seen George Strait play the guitar.
- 9:35SPEAKER_04: I have seen it, but it's rare.
- 9:37SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah.
- 9:38SPEAKER_04: It's like more it's a I think it's uh like um like a um I think it's more of a security ball.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: That's what I was looking for.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: Security, yeah.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: It's like it's like a prop.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: Well, not really a prop, because he can actually play.
- 9:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but he just doesn't.
- 9:50SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 9:50SPEAKER_04: Taylor Swift can play guitar.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: I I'm not saying that Taylor Swift can't play guitar.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: I mean she does play guitar.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: She does, she plays very well.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: But I don't think she's the eighth greatest player ever to come out in the last 20 years.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: I don't think so either.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: Especially when Brad Paisley is on the same list.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: And Keith Urban.
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: And Keith Urban and John Five.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: John Five and Tom Dillon.
- 10:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: How do you beat these?
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: How are you higher than these guys?
- 10:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:12SPEAKER_04: It's it's uh I don't get it, man.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_04: But again, I think it is I gotta know how the poll was taken.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: Like, were they given a list of people, or did you just submit people?
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: Like like I mean I mean Did they just list a bunch of people and you just click, click, you know, your top five or ten or twenty or whatever?
- 10:33SPEAKER_04: Or did they, or was it like submit who you think w is the greatest guitar player in the last twenty years, and just all these people in the basement of the science building that listen to Radiohead um put in two their two guitar players from Radiohead, and they're like they're even higher on the list.
- 10:51SPEAKER_04: Uh number number five and number six from guys from Radiohead are the best guitar players of the last twenty years.
- 10:56SPEAKER_04: You know, it's gotta be it's just personal taste, and it's just who who answered the poll.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: It's gotta be I think that's what it is.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: It's just it's just not yeah.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: But how do you put out a poll like that knowing that you're gonna get ridiculed by actual like exactly what I mean?
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, exactly.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: I mean, I would love to talk to Brad Paisley about this.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: I mean, he would be pol, you know, he would be very you know, very political about it.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, she's great.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: And uh this is a terrible Brad Paisley that was great.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: I liked it.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: I don't I really don't know.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: I can't do a Brad Paisley impression.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: Who do you want to do?
- 11:36SPEAKER_05: Well, cowboy hat?
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'll put the cowboy hat man on his like okay.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: Uh but I you know you know, if somebody asked him about it, he's gonna be very, you know, oh yeah, she's great, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: He's not gonna be like, well, she sucks, but uh, I'm way better than she is.
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: You know, you know, he's not gonna do that.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: He's a he's a he's a good guy.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, and he he's you know, he's a musician, she's a musician, he gets it.
- 11:58SPEAKER_04: So you think, I mean, all the uh all the video and all the interviews that you've seen of Brad Paisley, were they really Brad Paisley?
- 12:04SPEAKER_04: Or was it artificial intelligence?
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: Who knows now?
- 12:08unknown: I know.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: You can't tell.
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: It's that's the next thing that we want to talk about because uh AI is all over the place.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: Give you an example.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: Um last night we had Syndicate Rehearsal, You Were Not There.
- 12:21SPEAKER_04: One of the uh one of the members of the band, actually two of the members of the band, were laughing over in the corner.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: This was at the end of rehearsal, and I said, What are you what are you laughing at?
- 12:30SPEAKER_04: I brought their phone over, and they have um one of their husband's faces on Prince Prince's body in the Purple Rain video.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: So, so uh no, it wasn't Purple Rain or was it When Doves Cry?
- 12:48SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 12:49SPEAKER_04: But their husband's face, and I mean it was comical.
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm sure it was comical, and then they had their husband's face.
- 12:56SPEAKER_04: They're using an app, right?
- 12:58SPEAKER_04: Like face, whatever it is.
- 13:01SPEAKER_04: And I was laughing because it was funny, but that's I isn't that dangerous.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: Well, i I mean, you because you can't you can tell, but you can't tell.
- 13:11unknown: Right.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: I mean, if you're really paying attention, like people post AI pictures all the time.
- 13:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: And you can tell.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, you know, you see a picture of I d I don't know, Cindy Crawford.
- 13:24SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: They post a picture of Cindy Crawford, and I'm like, that's not how Cindy Crawford looks now.
- 13:29SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: I mean, she's in her fifties.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: She still looks great, but she does not look like that.
- 13:33SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 13:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:35SPEAKER_04: Well AI.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: Well, they uh I mean if you look at Instagram and you see, you know, a pretty woman and you click on her profile, and she said it says she's an AI model.
- 13:47SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 13:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:48SPEAKER_04: I was like, what does that mean?
- 13:49SPEAKER_04: So they they've basically taken her face and put it on it could it might be her body, I don't think it is.
- 13:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:59SPEAKER_04: But they've they've you know the they've defined what beauty is, and they've say, like, make me uh on a on a gondola in Italy, you know.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 14:11SPEAKER_04: And her yeah, and so all of a sudden she's on a gondola in Italy looking sexy.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: It looks like her, but it's you can tell it's not you can tell.
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: It's you can tell.
- 14:20SPEAKER_04: I don't know what it is, but it's a picture.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: It's got a it's got a I want to say a cartoony feel to it.
- 14:26SPEAKER_02: A little bit.
- 14:26SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: It's got that it's like that doesn't look right.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: You know, you you can tell a real picture from an AI picture.
- 14:34SPEAKER_02: Now.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: Now because it's still it's still in its I wouldn't I don't want to say AI is in its infancy, but it's definitely in its terrible twos.
- 14:43SPEAKER_02: It's yeah.
- 14:44SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: I will tell you what, it's not gonna be long uh before they perfect it.
- 14:51SPEAKER_04: And in and on some areas they have perfected.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: Well I saw I saw an interview with a guy.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: He was talking about, yeah, he said he said at this point AI is nothing to worry about because it's still it's still it's not self-aware, it's not Skynet yet.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: It hasn't reached that level because you still have to put in parameters into AI for it to for it to work.
- 15:12SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: But we're quickly, but I mean, look how fast technology advances.
- 15:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:18SPEAKER_02: I mean, you look in the last 10 years, your phone.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: Look at your phone, what your phone is capable of now as compared to 10, 15 years ago.
- 15:26SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: You know what I'm saying?
- 15:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: I mean, even Amazon has AI now.
- 15:29SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: You click you click on it and you you you can search it.
- 15:35SPEAKER_04: Well, Facebook does.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, meta AI.
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and it's the same, it's you know, they took out the search bar and just called it meta AI.
- 15:42SPEAKER_04: We're just gonna get dumber and dumber, basically.
- 15:44SPEAKER_02: Well, uh well, we deserve it.
- 15:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we do.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: You know, as a species, we deserve it.
- 15:49SPEAKER_04: Uh Ultimate Classic Rock has a couple of articles, and I thought it was interesting that within the span of either a day or hours, you know, because they they post articles, you know, oh yeah.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: Every few hours or whatever.
- 16:00SPEAKER_04: But within the span of hours, there were two articles on on different sides of AI.
- 16:07SPEAKER_04: For example, so this one is about that lawsuit.
- 16:10SPEAKER_04: Uh the Recording Industry Association of America, uh better known as RIAA.
- 16:15SPEAKER_04: They're demanding compensation of$150,000 for each song allegedly copied by AI startups Suno and Udio.
- 16:26SPEAKER_04: Um corporations are accused of breaching copyright laws to create clones of hit singles by the RIAA, which says it represents about 85% of all legal music sales in the US, including the major labels.
- 16:41SPEAKER_04: The use of AI use here of AI is far from transformative, they argued in the suit.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: Uh there is no functional purpose for the A model AI model to ingest copyrighted recordings other than to spit out new competing music files.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: This is, again, you can find this on ultimate classicrock.com.
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: Um the motive is brazenly commercial and threatens to displace the genuine human artistry that is at the heart of copyright protection.
- 17:09SPEAKER_04: Um AI corporations uh adding that if AI corporations were exempted from playing by the rules, it could lead to the collapse of the entire music ecosystem.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: I got news for you.
- 17:21SPEAKER_04: That started happening a long time ago.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: Well, it's already collapsing.
- 17:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:24SPEAKER_04: Suno, which recently attracted a hundred and twenty-five million dollar investment as it launched its one-click songwriting service, which just pisses me off, sorry.
- 17:35SPEAKER_04: And UDIO had not commented at the time of writing.
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: AI firms have previously argued that using artists' work to train models is legal fair use of the work in line with creating parody pieces and delivering news reports.
- 17:48SPEAKER_04: So, an ex for an example, so weird Al Yankovic, if he were going to create this there is a difference here.
- 17:56SPEAKER_04: If he was going to create a parody song of Beat It by Michael Jackson, did he use the song Beat It by Michael Jackson?
- 18:05SPEAKER_04: No, he re-recorded the song, Beat It.
- 18:09SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: You if you play Beat It and Weird Owl's version, Eat It, yeah, it's two complete it sounds the same, I mean but the instrumentation is different.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 18:20SPEAKER_04: And you can tell.
- 18:21SPEAKER_04: It's the same song, they're playing the same notes, but they're playing it's total it's totally different.
- 18:26SPEAKER_04: He re-recorded it.
- 18:27SPEAKER_04: It's completely different.
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: Musicians, uh, you know, recording process.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: What these guys are doing is taking the actual recording, which is copyrighted.
- 18:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:37SPEAKER_04: Uh it's a sound recording, an SR copyright, uh, and they're putting it through AI to make a parody.
- 18:45SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Or to make something else.
- 18:47SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 18:48SPEAKER_04: Which should be illegal.
- 18:50SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 18:52SPEAKER_04: So, you know, um was it the Recording Industry Association of America demanding$150,000 for each song.
- 19:00SPEAKER_04: I think that's low.
- 19:02SPEAKER_02: That is a little low.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: I should be at least half mil.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: So, so in that same breath, Ultimate Classic Rock had this one.
- 19:10SPEAKER_04: The world's biggest record label, Universal Music Group, announced plans to offer its artists AI models of their own voices.
- 19:18unknown: Oh my word.
- 19:20unknown: Yeah.
- 19:21SPEAKER_04: What is wrong with these people?
- 19:23SPEAKER_04: The corporations deal with digital startup firm Sound Labs will create software called Mic Drop designed to replicate an individual voice via machine learning techniques.
- 19:33SPEAKER_04: The artist will retain full control of the model.
- 19:37SPEAKER_04: Wrong.
- 19:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: We are right.
- 19:39SPEAKER_04: It won't be used in any way without permission, won't be available to the public, and the voice owner will profit from its use.
- 19:47SPEAKER_02: Is Bill Clinton involved in this unwell?
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: Uh uh did not have sexual relationships.
- 19:53SPEAKER_04: Mic drop is the latest iteration of technology that's been under development for years and has already begun.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: So Obama, if you like your doctor, you can keep it.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: If you like your doctor, you can keep it.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: Practical uses include being able to sing in foreign languages without having to learn them, being able to create music after health issues prevent one's vocal cords from working, and even allowing music to be made after one's death.
- 20:21SPEAKER_04: So let's see.
- 20:22SPEAKER_04: So Well, Randy Travis has already done this.
- 20:25SPEAKER_04: Yes, he has.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: He's already done this.
- 20:27SPEAKER_04: And it's we've talked about this before.
- 20:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:30SPEAKER_04: I uh as great as it is to hear Randy Travis's voice again.
- 20:34SPEAKER_04: It's not Randy Travis.
- 20:36SPEAKER_04: But I it it kind of is creeping me out.
- 20:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:39SPEAKER_04: A little bit.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: A little bit, mm-hmm.
- 20:41SPEAKER_04: Um let's see.
- 20:43SPEAKER_04: In addition, the voice model can be used like like the voices on a synthesizer, offering additional creative opportunities.
- 20:49SPEAKER_04: While its use as an onstage tool remains to be revealed, it could theoretically be used by a singer like John Bon Jovi, who fears he may never tour again as a result of health issues, to stay on the road.
- 21:03SPEAKER_04: I wonder if this is because you know, Bon Jovi's new album.
- 21:07SPEAKER_04: I wonder if they actually used AI.
- 21:10SPEAKER_04: And this is just a way of getting ahead of that.
- 21:13SPEAKER_04: We're never gonna know.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: We're not gonna know for a while.
- 21:16SPEAKER_04: We're not.
- 21:16SPEAKER_04: We're not.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: That's the thing.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: But but I mean, short of turning the dude into a cyborg, he's gonna stop touring eventually.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 21:27SPEAKER_04: But this is saying that you don't have to.
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: Well, you have to, man.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: Your body cannot keep up with that.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: Your body's gonna wear out.
- 21:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're still you still have to be up there and do performance.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: You know, maybe did where's it?
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: You were telling me there's auto-tune mics?
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: Okay, so now there's gonna be AI mics?
- 21:48SPEAKER_04: It was auto those auto-tune mics were used by hip hop artists in the mid 2000s, and it was mainly for an effect.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: They was, you know, it was like a um you were.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: putting reverb on a you know right but you would sing into the microphone and it and it corrects your pitch right but it sounds like an effect.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: So now we're gonna have AI mics.
- 22:12SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: So basically you just talk into it and it comes out you're singing.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:17SPEAKER_02: Is that is that is that where we're going with this?
- 22:20SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 22:20SPEAKER_04: But think about we we talked about uh Kiss.
- 22:24SPEAKER_04: You know once Kiss is gone they could have a hologram concert.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: They could have a concert of them holograms.
- 22:32SPEAKER_04: Would you pay money to see that?
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: No I'm not gonna pay money but I respect that more than because you you go into it knowing that's not KISS.
- 22:43SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: That's just a show.
- 22:45SPEAKER_06: Right.
- 22:45SPEAKER_02: Now if you want to pay two three hundred bucks to go watch a computer program play Kiss songs that's on you.
- 22:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:54unknown: Yeah.
- 22:55SPEAKER_04: I'm out.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: But if John Bon Jovi gets up there pretending he's singing and they're using AI, that's cheating.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: It is cheating.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: It is you know I want to hear John but yeah maybe you suck now.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: Okay, fine.
- 23:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah do it in do it in your new voice man.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: Bring everything down.
- 23:11SPEAKER_04: I think he has I think he has.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: I mean I mean come on man.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: We're not stupid.
- 23:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:18SPEAKER_02: Well you and I are not stupid.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: Well yeah we are well you know well let me let me backtrack on that.
- 23:26SPEAKER_04: Okay so let's move on because I want to I do want to get to a couple other things here.
- 23:30SPEAKER_04: Uh one of them is my gift from Oh yes you got that on the camera.
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: By the way we are recording video of this podcast so we're gonna we're gonna try and get back to Video killed the podcast guys.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: We're we're trying to get back to our uh we used to post a look it's Neil Peart video promo of the podcast um a couple days before before the actual this is this is a very cool gift thank you Morton it's very awesome it is I will thank you I will thank you in person or not everybody's gonna see the video so what is it?
- 24:05SPEAKER_02: So it's it's Modern Drummers Legends and it's Neil Peart and it's all of the stories they ever did about him in it in one collection.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah that's pretty cool.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: All the way from the uh I think the earliest one here I have is 1980 all the way up to 2016 which is about when they stopped touring nice so I'm very excited thank you very very very much it's a kingly gift.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: We did uh we did have rehearsal last night uh which I I mentioned that you didn't make it I did not make it you said to put that in your hands so I appreciate it it's really not uh I wanted to answer some um listener mail who's here uh hey Rock Ollie So we mentioned our friend uh bouncing bobby fluff pillow we mentioned our friend bouncing bob I don't know if it was on the last podcast or the podcast before that but we hadn't uh the last week was the first time we'd heard from him in a long time yeah so so was it last week that we talked about him because his his email was Brian's wife has a good idea uh that was that was a couple weeks ago about reaction videos yeah um so he sent us this and I'm just gonna read it um hey O'Brien and Doug thanks for the great 200th episode and mentioning my affirmations of your wife's great idea you're welcome I love Bob the big role in life now is as a grandparent my granddaughter is twelve going on twenty two and her last Halloween dressed up as Ozzy Osbourne what she has his accent down perfect.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: Oh my freaking word check this out so she is big into uh or big time into rock music and loves all the bands I kind of like during the 80s and 90s.
- 25:57SPEAKER_04: Now Bounce and Bob picture Bounce and Bob for a second.
- 26:01SPEAKER_04: I know I am who what bands do you think Bounce and Bob was into?
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: Barry Manilow.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: That's what I I wouldn't say Barry Manilow but I mean he would have been into like air supply right you know just looking at it.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: Okay let me let me read on uh oh kind of liked uh all the bands I kind of liked during the 80s and 90s parentheses Black Sabbath Motley Crue Joan Jet a phase hopefully I don't why why why would you be worried why would you want to be a phase manner now my request of you she is enamored of a local rock band called the Pines she even was on stage with him at a local concert she played the cowbell awesome that is awesome the Pines have two songs on Spotify and Apple Music would you be able to one react to their songs two give them advice on how to get better probably not two well probably not two I mean we're we're in no position to give anybody advice we have he says they are a great group of uh recent high school grads and are just starting out oh they're just youngins yeah okay thanks for your podcast and your time bouncing Bob there's this picture of his granddaughter that's actually pretty spot on as Ozzy Osbourne that's awesome uh let's see the Pines songs on Apple Music are shoot to kill and that's all right uh there is more than one band called the Pines so uh he wanted was just making sure that we got the right one.
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 27:35SPEAKER_04: So uh I thought we could look them up I don't I'm not gonna look them up I don't have Spotify on the computer and Apple Music I I don't subscribe to Apple Music so but I did find them on YouTube.
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: Oh okay great so I thought we would listen to um both songs even if it's just a snippet uh and and watch the video uh so these guys like he said are recent high school grads um is this them this is them so this song is called shoot to kill uh I think I have this all hooked up right let's see it or leave it because of my old mindset on your knees coming down as well so automatically I get a uh I get a Zeppelin zeppelin or Black Sabbath or you know what it's it's um um OL can't answer what I think of you I might not give the answer that you want me to you know it's like it's like they play this riff and then he sings.
- 28:59SPEAKER_04: Right then they play this riff and then he sings.
- 29:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:01SPEAKER_04: Uh not it's not bad.
- 29:02SPEAKER_04: I just it's just something to point out.
- 29:37SPEAKER_04: You know I I was comparing them to the sound of an already established band.
- 29:43SPEAKER_04: But I mean what do you do when you start a band?
- 29:45SPEAKER_04: You emulate your hero.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah exactly you're gonna you're gonna you're gonna unconsciously you know bring forth who you've been listening to.
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: Exactly every great artist brings forth who they listen to I mean it it just it's just natural.
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah I love this kid with the SG and the Marshall stack.
- 30:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 30:04SPEAKER_02: I thought the other kid was playing a Rickenbacher but I don't think uh I think it was a Rickenbacher bass.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah it is it doesn't look the head doesn't look like a Rickenbacher it is though.
- 30:14SPEAKER_04: It is okay yep of course the drummer's playing stabian so I automatically like him okay that was a here's the thing the video and if I mean you go to youtube and look up the pines shoot to kill the video is them in like a room that is just uh drywall and dude they're having a blast they're having a great time hitting the wall yeah I have no advice for these guys now they're doing great I think I they are they're they're pretty great to keep doing what they're doing.
- 31:28SPEAKER_08: Yeah they're killing it this is what music is supposed to be it's supposed to be fun it's supposed to be fun look at me it's very Greta Van Vliet ish you think so yeah you know not not vocally but no greta van fleet is very Led Zeppelin yeah which is and and you can tell this is very Led Zeppelin Yeah I I like it this is good they're really good I thought it was cool um so they have another one uh what did he say the name of it was here of course no let's see so shoot to kill and because I want to look up the other song oh that's alright let's look up the other song now kudos to these guys yeah I mean they're great I think they're pretty great man obviously looks like a first video yeah I mean yeah I mean I I mean we've never made a video well look at look at Van Halen's jump that's what they did they recorded in their basement yeah basically yeah so I mean come on you know uh everybody's gotta start somewhere so this is a song called That's Alright uh hopefully no let's see if you're now they're not hockey work that's all right that's all right I get a seventies box.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah they're very seventies very easy one thing I would say about the production uh the video production obviously the the production value has gone up a little bit from the one other video but I mean the the music production I might turn him up his vocals a little bit yeah a little quiet sky I mean what would you say to these guys?
- 34:57SPEAKER_04: I mean I can't say anything to these guys they're doing great they're killing it I think if you you keep playing live right you you play you open for as many known bands as possible um and you keep writing like this I mean it's not this these songs aren't gonna change the world but rock and roll you know rock and roll is rock and roll rock and roll is just about fun yeah and these these guys are having fun.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah I mean you could tell these guys have grown up together.
- 35:25SPEAKER_02: Yep because they just you could tell you they got a they got a chemistry.
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: They're tight and they're tight it's a tight band yeah and they sound great.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: Yep I would buy this album heck yeah man I'm a fan now um let me just finish it video yeah finish the video that drummer's playing a four piece like I do so I'm already digging on this guy yeah I think I think um now these guys are on the right track I think they are on the right track absolutely I think they're obviously green I mean you could tell yeah I mean they're just they're kids but yeah that's what I'm saying but they're killing it I think you just keep playing just keep playing just keep writing and keep doing what you're doing because you know you know in this day and age I would say that somebody's gonna notice you know and but it does it matter if anybody notices we don't do we depend on major labels anymore?
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: No.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: I mean you're doing it yourself right they're on YouTube they're they're obviously doing right I mean they're doing it themselves they've got their songs on Spotify and Apple Music just get yourself I know get yourself on playlists on Spotify.
- 37:00SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 37:01SPEAKER_04: You know lobby to get people to put you put you on their playlists because it's it's it's about clicks these days and it's all about you that's what it's all about.
- 37:09SPEAKER_04: But don't change what you're doing.
- 37:11SPEAKER_04: No absolutely get better at what you're doing because uh I mean as far as your your performance like um like I said you you're very green and I think you probably know that but the more you play the better it's gonna be the the the better you're gonna get absolutely you're you're more than halfway there.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: I mean it's oh yeah absolutely they're they're they're heads and I would say they're heads and tails above a lot of established artists right now.
- 37:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah yeah you know yep I think uh so but uh what I like about their music is it's it's rock and roll but it's like back to the innocence of rock and rock seventies and eighties rock influenced.
- 38:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah yeah it's not there's no I don't know they're playing their instruments and there's no gimmicks.
- 38:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah that's what it is there's no gimmicks.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah it's just them it's just raw four regular guys yeah the lead singer looks like I don't know he looks like a football player or you know like a I mean maybe you know right I mean good clean cut guy yeah you know the the guitar player has a slash thing going on yep which I think is pretty great.
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: Yep I mean he's obviously he's obviously a slash fan.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: Because doesn't slash play SGs?
- 38:32SPEAKER_04: No.
- 38:32SPEAKER_04: Oh he doesn't play list balls okay oh that's true yeah that's true Angus Young plays SGs yeah I knew that yeah but no I mean it's it's uh straightforward rock and roll yeah it's just that's good stuff yeah it's very good I I got yeah so those two songs I mean I'd like to hear more I guess is my my I wonder what happens if I'm just curious if I Google the Pines on a Facebook page or Facebook they are they are on Facebook hold on he didn't tell me he did tell me to look them up on Facebook because I just want to see if they have any other songs because I kinda dig what I heard here.
- 39:18SPEAKER_04: Let's do uh of course everything comes up pines Wilderness Pines Pines Hell Services no Pines the Pines What happens if I do the pines Why are there waffles on the screen?
- 39:32SPEAKER_04: The Pines Grill They look good the Pines band let's see if that gets gets me anything because you know yeah Bounce and Bob did tell me oh here we go.
- 39:48SPEAKER_04: We're getting somewhere this is a there's three bands called the Pines.
- 39:55SPEAKER_04: Oh that might be the first thing uh think about a name change uh or or do something about your name um I don't think that's them maybe maybe change the pine the the S in Pines to a Z.
- 40:09SPEAKER_04: I don't know that's kind of oh there's more holy cow the Pines band this is from these guys are uh indie rock band from Birmingham I don't know if that's Alabama or England but there's only three of them so that's not a fine uh the Pines Indie Rock band from Scotland that's not them a band located in St.
- 40:28SPEAKER_04: Johnsbury Vermont I don't think it's them um because they have zero followers so I don't think it's them.
- 40:36SPEAKER_04: Ouch uh three piece band that's not them uh let's see in the Pines band Naughty Pines band the Crystal Pines uh yeah I I would have a hard time finding these guys bounce and Bob uh I'm gonna look at this one uh from St.
- 40:53SPEAKER_04: Johnsbury Vermont because Bob is what in Pennsylvania yeah I think so yeah I think he's in Pennsylvania uh well that looks like them isn't that the lead singer I don't think so I'm I'm a little far away too I can't yeah I don't think so um but they have zero followers and I can't imagine he's gonna have zero followers let me let me look at this one here this is Pines official music yeah no that's not them that's not them that's not them uh well I mean uh let's see this band right here oh no this is a UK band no not them not them oh anyway yeah anyway um that might be the first thing I I look into is yeah is the name of the band which is unfortunate but uh uh everything else uh I think you're on the off to a good start absolutely man great yeah great great band yep I'm uh I'm impressed so that being said thank you bouncing Bob for the uh for the listener email we welcome that by the way if you go on our Facebook page and you want to send us a message and and give us something to react to um but this is not necessarily a um one of our quote unquote reaction videos this was just our first attempt at reacting at something so so maybe we'll do that well I think it was a success.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: I think so too we we saw it we reacted we commented that's all you can ask that's what more do you want you that's all you did ask we did what you said leave us alone you're not my real dad you know what I forgot I forgot the question for um mixtape favorite favorite the all your favorite live concert you've been to oh was that the question yes that's why there's no we we don't play the music that's right that's right okay so what was the question last week because we did we get a winner yes we did from that okay yes we did uh so last week's question that was the uh crap what was the oh the song that your your friend would your best friend would say but yeah yeah and I picked John Hyatt through your hands correct you picked Resignation Superman right Big Heads on the monsters and Cousin Larry picked uh what do you guys appear Oh black and black back in black back and black A C D C by the way we got a a nice letter from from uh cousin Larry yesterday like a written letter or an email uh written letter and and uh sponsorship Wow thank you cousin Larry yes thank you cousin you are the man uh let's see but in the in the letter it was very short he just said he loves the mixtape thing okay me too I'm really enjoying this okay so this is what the judge said she writes quote this week was difficult because I only know one of the three songs and these were all songs picked by a friend Bob Yu.
- 43:55SPEAKER_02: However I decided to view it as if these were like movie previews for friends Applications, if that makes any sense.
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: She's smart.
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: I told that's why I chose her, man.
- 44:05SPEAKER_02: She's super smart.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: And while I would accept all applicants based on all the songs, they all sound like really epic people.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: I would love to befriend.
- 44:13SPEAKER_02: I had to pick one, and that was hard.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: I would have to go with through your hands.
- 44:17SPEAKER_04: Whoa!
- 44:18SPEAKER_02: It was just a very moving message behind the words.
- 44:21SPEAKER_04: Very cool.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: So you are you are the champion, my friend.
- 44:29SPEAKER_04: Not that we're counting, but uh I've won two now.
- 44:32SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: Well, we've all won one, so nobody's gotten scarred.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:35SPEAKER_04: So that's true.
- 44:36SPEAKER_04: Okay, so so this week the question is what is it again?
- 44:41SPEAKER_02: Your favorite favorite concert.
- 44:44SPEAKER_02: Favorite, uh let's see, I don't know what we're gonna get.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: Favorite live concert you've been to.
- 44:49SPEAKER_04: Alright, so but and that's also subjective, and and I could pick um there are several that I would pick.
- 44:59SPEAKER_04: Um I know which one.
- 45:05SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna talk about one, but I'm gonna pick a different one.
- 45:07SPEAKER_04: Do you want me to go first?
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you you always go first.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: No, I don't.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: No, Cousin Larry goes first.
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: Well, let's do Cousin Larry then.
- 45:13SPEAKER_02: Let's do Cousin Larry.
- 45:14SPEAKER_04: What did he say?
- 45:15SPEAKER_04: What is it?
- 45:15SPEAKER_04: The favorite concert that he's doing.
- 45:17SPEAKER_02: Cousin Larry.
- 45:19SPEAKER_02: Okay, here we are.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: Okay, I've been to some epic shows over the years.
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: A C D C disturb tool, Merle Haggard, Ringo star in his all-star band.
- 45:30SPEAKER_02: But I I would have to say favorite was when I saw Paul McCartney in Phoenix with my oldest son.
- 45:35unknown: Oh wow.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:37SPEAKER_02: Uh he did a couple Beatles tunes, never previously performed live.
- 45:41SPEAKER_02: It was such a great show and a fun road trip with my son.
- 45:43SPEAKER_04: So you know, the I used to have a I bought a borrowed a uh DVD from um guy I was in the band with years ago.
- 45:51SPEAKER_04: And it was uh Paul McCartney back in the USA.
- 45:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's a great that's a great I have that somewhere to be in that audience.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: Well, that was right after 9-11, too.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: True.
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: So it was very picture.
- 46:05SPEAKER_04: Everybody was like, ah, but I mean it was electric.
- 46:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, it was it was unreal.
- 46:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was a great.
- 46:10SPEAKER_04: I do have one, I have um a Paul McCartney concert on DVD.
- 46:16SPEAKER_04: Uh The Space Uh Between Us?
- 46:20SPEAKER_04: Is that right?
- 46:21SPEAKER_04: Sounds right.
- 46:23SPEAKER_04: Well, that I mean that's a The Space Between, I think.
- 46:25SPEAKER_02: That was a Beatles um not a song, but it was a lyric.
- 46:29SPEAKER_02: I think it was, I think that's what it's called.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: Anyway, um so Cousin Larry says Paul McCartney, which I probably would have said too if I had gone to see Paul McCartney.
- 46:38SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 46:39SPEAKER_04: I have a few that I could choose from, so I'm gonna mention them, but I'm gonna give you my.
- 46:46SPEAKER_04: So these are like honorable mentions?
- 46:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, honorable mentions.
- 46:48SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 46:49SPEAKER_04: Um, so I I gotta say Alan Jackson.
- 46:53SPEAKER_04: Um simply because he was very classy.
- 46:58SPEAKER_04: Meaning I saw Tim McGraw in concert one time and the spotlight was on him the whole time.
- 47:04SPEAKER_04: And like when there was a guitar solo, Spotlight still followed Tim McGraw.
- 47:08SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 47:08SPEAKER_04: You know, but Alan Jackson he A sounded fantastic, the band sounded fantastic, but every time there was a solo or something like that, he backed off into the shadows and spotlighted the soloist.
- 47:25SPEAKER_04: I just thought the whole thing was classy.
- 47:27SPEAKER_04: Um second honorable mention um BB King.
- 47:32SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, uh I saw that with you uh and a couple other people, and uh BB King is just I mean, I don't know what else to say.
- 47:42SPEAKER_04: Legend legend.
- 47:43SPEAKER_04: Legend.
- 47:43SPEAKER_04: Uh and also classy.
- 47:45SPEAKER_04: Yes, very classy.
- 47:46SPEAKER_04: Um and just just the push and the pull and the just the soul that came out of that show was unbelievable.
- 47:55SPEAKER_04: But my pick for um the best concert I've ever seen is and it's for a couple different reasons, um is um Bernaked Ladies, Big Head Todd, The Monsters, Cracker, and I don't remember who else was on that.
- 48:14SPEAKER_04: Blues Traveler.
- 48:15SPEAKER_04: Blues Traveler.
- 48:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:16SPEAKER_04: Um A because um you know, a couple of my favorite bands.
- 48:22SPEAKER_04: But it was the last time we saw a show with Maddie.
- 48:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:26SPEAKER_04: Um, so I would say probably that's my greatest concert memory.
- 48:30SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 48:31SPEAKER_04: Um and you know, seeing Ed Robertson's ass.
- 48:36SPEAKER_10: That was great.
- 48:39SPEAKER_02: I don't know how Todd Barkmore put kept his composure either.
- 48:44SPEAKER_02: It was hysterical.
- 48:46SPEAKER_04: What was the song?
- 48:47SPEAKER_04: What was the song they were playing?
- 48:48SPEAKER_02: They were playing at um Do you think I'm uh No, it was uh Oh, it was popular.
- 48:55SPEAKER_04: Uh I can't remember what it was, but but Big Head Todd was playing it.
- 49:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 49:01SPEAKER_04: It was a cover song.
- 49:02SPEAKER_04: Ed Robertson from The Bare Naked Ladies came out in a thong.
- 49:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 49:06SPEAKER_02: Well, no, he came out fully clothed and then he shut down stripped down to his thong, right?
- 49:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:10SPEAKER_04: Not that that that was my favorite part, but it was funny.
- 49:12SPEAKER_02: It was hilarious.
- 49:13SPEAKER_02: It was funny.
- 49:13SPEAKER_02: We were all dialogue.
- 49:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:15SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 49:16SPEAKER_04: No, I guess.
- 49:16SPEAKER_04: So I'm I'm gonna go with that.
- 49:17SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna go with Bare Naked Ladies, Big Head Todd, Cracker, and Blues Traveler.
- 49:20SPEAKER_04: Yep, that was a great show.
- 49:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 49:22SPEAKER_02: Uh mine is I I picked it for a similar reason, is when we said we saw Big Head Todd Monsters and Big Head Todd, I cannot talk to Name.
- 49:31SPEAKER_02: Big Head Todd and the Monsters down at Sugarloaf.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: Sugarloaf, yeah.
- 49:34SPEAKER_02: It was you and me and Bob and Dan and Tim.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: Yes, and your wife.
- 49:39SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 49:40SPEAKER_02: And it was just we had a blast.
- 49:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah, we did.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: I mean, we'd rented a cabin by the by the slopes, yep, and we all just had a great time.
- 49:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 49:49SPEAKER_02: You know, it was just and it was the first time we'd ever met Dan.
- 49:52SPEAKER_04: And the funny thing is, is uh actually, wasn't it the first time we met Tim too?
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: No, no.
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: We knew we we while Bob and I knew Tim.
- 49:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, see, it was the first time I'd met him.
- 50:00SPEAKER_04: So I'd met Tim and Danny that one night.
- 50:04SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 50:04SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 50:05SPEAKER_04: And we had such a good time that, you know, obviously we become friends on Facebook and whatnot, but we can we can pick it up where we left off.
- 50:14SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 50:14SPEAKER_04: You know, every once in a while, one of those memories will come up with a photo of us at that concert, and so I'll share the photo, and Danny will go on and say, We've got to do that again.
- 50:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:25SPEAKER_04: You know, I think I think if we all got in the same room, it would be like we've known each other forever.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: And we only met that night.
- 50:32SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 50:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: And that was the end.
- 50:34SPEAKER_02: We had a blast.
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: We had so much, and it was a great show.
- 50:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 50:38SPEAKER_02: And I remember my favorite part was, well, yeah, we were we got her, we got our they recorded the show live.
- 50:45SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 50:46SPEAKER_02: And you could pick up your CD after the show, yep.
- 50:48SPEAKER_02: And I had I got mine signed by everybody, and Hazel Miller was there.
- 50:53SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 50:53SPEAKER_02: And she was like, How you how far'd you guys all drive here?
- 50:56SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Ah, I drove about six hours.
- 50:57SPEAKER_02: She's like, Oh, good Lord! And Brian Devins was just like, What?
- 51:04SPEAKER_02: Who drives six hours?
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: Six hours to see us.
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: But I was like, Man, it was but I mean Hazel and Brian were just so awesome.
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: You know, Brian, of course, all you know, I could go on and on about Brian.
- 51:15SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 51:15SPEAKER_04: Well, that whole band, really.
- 51:16SPEAKER_04: The whole band is just great.
- 51:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, just great people.
- 51:19SPEAKER_02: And it's just great music, and it was a fun, it was a great weekend, and it was a fun night.
- 51:23SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 51:24SPEAKER_02: So that that's my pick.
- 51:26SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 51:26SPEAKER_04: So that's a good pick.
- 51:27SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 51:28SPEAKER_04: So how's she gonna pick between Big Hit Todd the Monsters and Big Hit Todd the Monsters?
- 51:32SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 51:33SPEAKER_04: I don't either.
- 51:34SPEAKER_04: I guess she's gonna be she'll she'll she'll figure it out.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: If anybody can do it, she can.
- 51:39SPEAKER_04: So those are our mixtape choices for this week.
- 51:42SPEAKER_04: Uh, do we have a new question?
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, I guess that's a that's a yes.
- 51:48SPEAKER_02: This is a twist.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 51:50SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 51:51SPEAKER_02: This card is bold-faced.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: Choose your own adventure.
- 51:56SPEAKER_02: The player that pulls this card creates their own scenario for the group to mix tape.
- 52:02SPEAKER_02: Best song wins.
- 52:04SPEAKER_04: Oh, so you pick you pick the card.
- 52:07SPEAKER_02: So that means So I mean I pick the scenario.
- 52:09SPEAKER_04: You pick the scenario.
- 52:11SPEAKER_02: I'm terrible at picking scenarios.
- 52:13SPEAKER_04: Do you want to think about it?
- 52:14SPEAKER_04: And we'll take a break and we'll come back and have to I can't do it off the top of my head.
- 52:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, let's do that.
- 52:19SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 52:20SPEAKER_04: So, uh, are we gonna do the uh bonus beatles?

- 55:21SPEAKER_04: Oh my goodness.
- 55:22SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 55:23SPEAKER_04: Uh what are we doing?
- 55:24SPEAKER_02: Well, I have to I have I have to choose my own scenario.
- 55:27SPEAKER_04: You choose your own scenario where back to the city.
- 55:28SPEAKER_04: So here's my scenario.
- 55:30SPEAKER_02: If you could have a concert with one artist and they only play one song, who's the artist and what's the song?
- 55:40SPEAKER_04: Let's see.
- 55:40SPEAKER_02: It's just you and this artist.
- 55:42SPEAKER_02: It could be a solo art, it could be a band.
- 55:44SPEAKER_04: So you're alone with them in a room.
- 55:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's just you and them.
- 55:46SPEAKER_02: Like, say it's sound check.
- 55:48SPEAKER_02: And you're the only one in the stadium.
- 55:50SPEAKER_02: And they can and they're like, hey, what song do you want to hear?
- 55:54SPEAKER_04: And who is it and what song is it?
- 55:56SPEAKER_02: Who who's the band or artist and what song do you want them to play?
- 55:59SPEAKER_04: That's a great, that's a great one.
- 56:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 56:01SPEAKER_04: Good job.
- 56:01SPEAKER_02: Well, I try once in a while.
- 56:03SPEAKER_02: Once in a while, I have a good one.
- 56:04SPEAKER_02: It's like it's like the uh, you know, a broken clock is right twice a day.
- 56:09SPEAKER_02: I am a broken clock.
- 56:11SPEAKER_04: I am going to uh AI, baby.
- 56:13SPEAKER_04: Aye.
- 56:17SPEAKER_04: I'm going to climb the wall of tunes.
- 56:18SPEAKER_04: Shut up, video Doug! So I'm going to start that music now.
- 56:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, yes.
- 56:22SPEAKER_04: Sounds good, doesn't it?
- 56:24SPEAKER_04: It does, man.
- 56:24SPEAKER_02: Uh and brings back memories of uh of being uh you know staying home from school and watching uh The price is right.
- 56:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 56:32SPEAKER_04: Uh while I take my headphones off and climb the wall of tunes, Doug is gonna read from A Hard Days Right.
- 56:38SPEAKER_02: Yes! Let me let me adjust my bifocals.
- 56:41SPEAKER_04: What song are we doing?
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: Uh song we're doing is I'm Down.
- 56:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, wow.
- 56:46SPEAKER_02: Which I think we we we uh we touched on last week.
- 56:49SPEAKER_04: I don't think I have that one on because that's that's like a um what album is that on?
- 56:54SPEAKER_02: Uh it was in the help era.
- 56:55SPEAKER_02: It wasn't on help, but it was the help era.
- 56:58SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:58SPEAKER_02: It was the B side.
- 56:59SPEAKER_02: Okay, well I'm gonna tell you right now.
- 57:01SPEAKER_02: The B side of the single Help, I'm Down, is an unashamed attempt by Paul to write a little Richard song, which with which to replace Long Tall Sally in the Beatles set.
- 57:13SPEAKER_02: We spent a lot of quote, we spent a lot of time trying to write a real corker, something like Long Tall Sally.
- 57:19SPEAKER_02: What?
- 57:20SPEAKER_02: Oh What are you doing?
- 57:22SPEAKER_02: I think it's okay, that's fine.
- 57:26SPEAKER_02: Uh Paul said in October 1964, it's very difficult.
- 57:32SPEAKER_02: I saw her standing there, was the nearest we got to it.
- 57:35SPEAKER_02: We're still trying to compose a little Richard song of sorts.
- 57:38SPEAKER_02: Sort of song.
- 57:39SPEAKER_02: I'd likened it to abstract painting.
- 57:41SPEAKER_02: People think of long tall Sally and say it sounds so easy to write, but it's the most difficult thing we've ever attempted.
- 57:48SPEAKER_02: Writing a three-chord song that's clever is not easy.
- 57:51SPEAKER_02: Little Richard, who had who had his first British hit with Rip It Up in 1956, first met the Beatles when they shared a bill at the Tower Ballroom, New Brighton, on October 12th, 1962, one week after the release of Love Me Do.
- 58:07SPEAKER_02: It was a great moment for the group who featured Rip It Up, Good Golly Miss Molly, Tootie Fruity, Lucille among other among several little Richards too Richards numbers in their show.
- 58:18SPEAKER_02: I met them in Liverpool before the world ever knew about them, said Little Richard.
- 58:23SPEAKER_02: Paul especially was into my music and had been playing it since he was in high school.
- 58:27SPEAKER_02: He was impressed with my hollering, and when I was on stage in Liverpool, and later in Hamburg at the Star Club the following month, he used to stay in the wings and watch me sing.
- 58:38SPEAKER_02: I felt honored that they liked my music.
- 58:40SPEAKER_02: My style's very dynamic.
- 58:42SPEAKER_02: It's full of joy, it's full of fun, and it's alive.
- 58:45SPEAKER_02: There's nothing dead about it.
- 58:47SPEAKER_02: There's never a dull moment.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: It keeps you on your toes, it keeps you moving, and I think that's what everybody gets from my music.
- 58:53SPEAKER_02: People know that if they sing one of my songs on stage, they're gonna light up the house.
- 58:58SPEAKER_02: Fittingly, the Beatles used I'm Down to close the show during their 1965 and 1966 tours.
- 59:05SPEAKER_02: The last song they ever played in concert, played live in concert though, at San Francisco's Candlestick Park on August 29th, 1966, was Little Richard's Long Tall Sound.
- 59:16SPEAKER_04: You can hear the you can hear the influence.
- 59:18SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 59:19SPEAKER_02: Well, his screams are Little Richard inspired, yeah.
- 59:28SPEAKER_04: Uh I just was I wanna I want to play this for a second.
- 59:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, maybe.
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: What happened?
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: Maybe I can't I see the triangle with an exclamation point.
- 59:36SPEAKER_02: That's bad.
- 59:37SPEAKER_04: What happened there?
- 59:39SPEAKER_04: What you're trying to do.
- 59:40SPEAKER_04: Uh well there was a video there that I wanted to watch.
- 59:42SPEAKER_02: Well, apparently uh AI sucked it back up into the AI universe.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_03: There was a video of David Gilmore and his daughter doing that song.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_04: Oh no, it's never mind, it's between two points.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_04: I thought they were I thought they were because I typed in I'm Down and that came up, so I thought they were singing I'm down, but they're not.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_13: What a bummer.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_13: What a bummer.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_04: Okay, um so I have an album.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_04: So let the guessing begin.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_02: So we're not recording anymore, is that the thing?
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_04: Well, your apparently yours is not recording anymore.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_04: That's fine.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_04: I think I had it on SP slow play instead of like long play or extended play or something like that.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_04: So maybe it just I don't know.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_04: You suck video, Doug.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_04: Well, it was me.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_04: It was that it was my fault.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_02: You suck video, Brian.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_04: Let the guessing begin.
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_02: Is it a band?
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_02: Beatles, no.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_02: Bachman turn her over again.
- 1:01:00unknown: No.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_02: Candle box.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_02: No.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_05: Are you going alphabetically?
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_05: Yes, I am.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_05: Danzig.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_05: No.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_05: The Xies.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_05: No, you have to go back though.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_05: Huh?
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_05: You have to go back.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_05: So it wasn't Danzig and it wasn't the Xies.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_05: It was Candlebox.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_05: No, no, you have to go back to the D's.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_05: Oh, the D's?
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_05: No, it's Dawking.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_05: No.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_05: I don't know if we've done it this way before.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_05: Just name it bands.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_05: Just name it bands.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_02: He doesn't want hints anymore.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_02: He's just gonna name every band that begins with D.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_02: Dead Kennedys.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_02: I can't imagine you have a dead Kennedy C D.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_02: I wish I did, actually.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_02: Uh okay.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_02: Uh so it's a band.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_02: Begins with D.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_02: Height of popularity.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_02: 80s.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_02: Ah, okay.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_02: It's not David Gilmore.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_05: No.
- 1:01:58unknown: D.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_05: Are they still around?
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_05: Talked about them last week, actually.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_05: We did?
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_04: We didn't like their new song.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, Def Leopard.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_04: It is Def Leopard.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_04: Okay, so what I did pick though is this album.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_04: Do you even know this album?
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_02: I know of it.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_02: I don't have it.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_04: You don't have it?
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_04: This album is uh not as bad as Slang was.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_04: Um slang was bad.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_04: Well it wasn't not that slang was a bad album, but slang was universally panned by both critics and fans.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I didn't like it.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_04: Um there were a few good songs on it, but it was just it was not Def Leopard.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_04: Didn't sound like that.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_04: This sounds like Def Leopard if Def Leopard were a boy band.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_04: So a lot of people didn't like this album.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_04: I love this album.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_04: Uh the album that we're talking about is called X.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_04: And I believe it's called that because it is their tenth.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_04: I'm assuming it's their tenth album.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_04: Does that make sense?
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_04: It makes sense to me.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_04: Um Roman numerically.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_04: Have we already done this album?
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_04: I don't think so.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_04: I don't think so either.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_02: Do you even have it?
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you didn't have it.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_04: Well, I have it, and it's in my hand.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_04: Well, no, I mean, I have it, I have it.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_04: Now there it is.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_04: I see it.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_04: Um, all right, so let me go back to this because this is the first cut.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_04: So uh I love this album.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_04: And for many for many reasons.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_04: You probably know this song.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_04: So it's it's very pop.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, it's still it's very nickel backing.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's still rocking.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_04: Um but see this kind of sound right here is why it's compared to a boy band like a battery.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_09: But it's got that deaf leopard, like I'm gonna suck up for big pop choruses, you know.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm gonna always have this.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_02: And nobody does better than that one.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_04: This is a far cry from hysteria in Pyromania.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_04: I think the songs are strong.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_04: Uh they're pop songs.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_04: There's no question.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_02: Oh, sure.
- 1:06:00unknown: Unbelievable.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_04: I think they did it as well as anybody.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_02: Big horse.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_09: All I do is think about you.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_09: That's right.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_04: Granted, it doesn't sound like anything they've done.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_04: No before.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_04: I recognize that.
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_04: But for a lot of fans, it was too much of a departure.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_02: From it is what it isn't.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_04: Well, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_04: They've always had big pop choruses.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_04: This just it's more productive.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_04: Berkeley pop.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_04: I will tell you there is a couple of songs on here uh that I don't like.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_04: Uh this was a single, four-letter four-letter word.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_09: And just your kids, K I S that I miss.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_09: And just the way that you squeeze my time.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_09: If there's a wish at the top of my list.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_09: Sweet as sound.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_04: Catchy as hell.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_04: Uh so I'm gonna play you the song that I don't like on this album, and then I'm gonna play you the song that I think sounds the most like Def Leopard.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:08:38SPEAKER_04: And those will be the last two that I uh that I do.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_04: So here's the one I don't like.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_04: It's called Gravity.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, I already don't like it.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_09: The darkness and sleeves.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_09: Turn out the light.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_09: No one can sleep.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_09: Take out the drift to the bowl.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_09: Instead of tea, instead of me, it's like a wide a week.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't like that one.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_02: Well, the course is better than the verses.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_04: Alright, so here's the one that I think sounds the most like Def Leopard.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_04: It's called Scar.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, I know this song.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_12: Do you?
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_02: How do you know this song?
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_02: It's been on a bunch of uh like old collections.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_02: It's like the Deaf Leopard that you know and love.
- 1:10:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_04: Just those chords right there.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_04: That whole album that is the most Def Leopard song on.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_13: I believe that.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_04: Uh but I it's uh when when did that come out?
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_04: That was 2002.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_04: So that was my gosh.
- 1:11:06SPEAKER_04: That was twenty-two years ago?
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_04: Anyway, that's uh that's Def Leopard's now.
- 1:11:15SPEAKER_04: Is it so yeah, I'm doing it?
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_02: Let's see if I can do it.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_04: So on to the nine drive, Romania, hysteria, adrenalized and euphoria.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_04: X.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_04: X was not their tenth album.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_02: So I was just ironically so just X for whatever reason.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:17SPEAKER_04: Uh I wonder if there's if there's if there's a reason given.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's pronounced 10.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_04: X pronounced 10.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_04: It's the eighth studio album by English Rockband Death Leopard.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_02: Okay, that may be the stupidest entry ever on Wikipedia.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_13: Hey little Johnny, do the album band for us.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_13: And a B Q R S T U V W ten Twitch C.
- 1:12:46SPEAKER_04: But the fact that it's pronounced 10, but it's their eighth.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_13: Anyway.
- 1:12:51SPEAKER_13: Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum Dum.
- 1:12:55SPEAKER_04: That is the album of the week.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_04: And that is episode uh 201.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_02: 201.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_02: 201.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_02: Pronounced 2001.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_04: It identifies as 2001.
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_04: Oh! Alright, so until next week.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_04: Um hope you enjoy the uh video promos.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_04: Or video.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_04: Video promo.
- 1:13:17SPEAKER_04: Hopefully we have some.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_04: Uh and uh we'll try and keep those up as much as possible.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_04: Until next week, I'm O'Brien! I'm still Doug.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_02: Bye everybody.
