- 0:06Speaker 1: doing brother i'm hanging out hanging out chilling okay we
- 0:09Speaker 1: got a beer today what are we drinking.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Sierra nevada october fest fest beer germany or german brewery
- 0:15Speaker 2: collaboration 12 fluid ounces the lager and it's a 6.0
- 0:18Speaker 2: percent alcohol volume 32 ibus brewed in uh chico california
- 0:25Speaker 2: mills river north carolina.
- 0:28Speaker 1: This year, they collabed with Hopper Hour Brewery that was
- 0:33Speaker 1: founded in 2010. So there's a fun fact for you.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. In Bavaria. So a new brewery in Bavaria. Yeah.
- 0:42Speaker 3: In 2010. That's wild. Yeah. Yeah.
- 0:45Speaker 1: So here we go. When Sierra Nevada makes this every year,
- 0:48Speaker 1: they partner with a different German brewery every year.
- 0:50Speaker 3: That's cool. Yeah. Yeah. I like that.
- 0:52Speaker 1: It's like, you know, hey, let's just we're not ready
- 0:54Speaker 1: to commit yet. We're going to try some things out,
- 0:57Speaker 1: you know.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Each year we partner with a German brewery to create
- 0:59Speaker 2: a traditional Oktoberfest, but this modern fest beer breaks the mold,
- 1:04Speaker 2: it says.
- 1:04Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Our 2026 is light, lightly dry hopped for a hint
- 1:10Speaker 2: of floral character balanced by a biscuity flavor thanks to
- 1:14Speaker 2: Munich malt, but it won't last long.
- 1:17Speaker 3: This seasonal beer will be gone. You can say prost.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Prost.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Prost. Cheers.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Miles and Miles of good things. It smells delicious.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I love fast beers. I like it's a lager.
- 1:34Speaker 2: You know, people have the, they always think like October
- 1:36Speaker 2: fast beers.
- 1:37Speaker 3: They're like the Mars or something like that. It's either or.
- 1:39Speaker 3: It's either or.
- 1:40Speaker 2: I'm kind of a, more of a lager guy, especially
- 1:42Speaker 2: in the quantity that I'm a.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Knocking these things back. I always get a little too
- 1:46Speaker 3: sweet on me.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So I got a little breakdown of just kind of
- 1:49Speaker 1: like how the styles differ here for you, if you're interested.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I'm listening.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Your Fest beer is going to be more of a
- 1:54Speaker 1: golden color, whereas your Marzen is going to be more
- 1:56Speaker 1: of an amber to copper color. Correct. Fest is going
- 1:59Speaker 1: to be lighter, crispier, whereas the Marzen is going to
- 2:02Speaker 1: be richer and toastier.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Quite hoppy, isn't it? Isn't this one hoppy? It's hoppier
- 2:07Speaker 3: than normal.
- 2:07Speaker 1: That's about 35, what did I say?
- 2:08Speaker 3: 32 IBUs. I'm just saying hoppy. You can taste it
- 2:11Speaker 3: and it's... It's.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Got a balanced malt and hops versus the Marzen's more
- 2:17Speaker 1: of a malt forward flavor. And this is going to
- 2:19Speaker 1: be highly refreshing versus the fuller body of the Marzen.
- 2:24Speaker 1: So there's a little.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Cool.
- 2:28Speaker 1: This versus that for you.
- 2:29Speaker 2: You know, I'm just like I said, I like having
- 2:31Speaker 2: a couple of Marzen's, you know, late September, early October.
- 2:34Speaker 3: But I prefer the Fespier. you know for the lager
- 2:38Speaker 3: and whatnot we got some hellos you're about to go.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Through you're a lighter beer type guy yeah sure you
- 2:42Speaker 1: know you enjoy the lighter beers it's like more crisp
- 2:46Speaker 1: refreshing yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 2: You know december january roll around yeah february we've got
- 2:51Speaker 2: i guess i'll do dry january this year i don't
- 2:53Speaker 2: know it sounds ridiculous it does but we'll see how
- 2:57Speaker 2: the it's usually if december is that tough i've had
- 3:00Speaker 2: to do it before just like you know what i
- 3:01Speaker 2: just can't take this anymore But then Liz is like, hey,
- 3:04Speaker 2: let's go get in the hot tub.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Grab some beers. I go, all right.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I'm doing it.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Drunk January. Let's go.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I mean, I could go that route.
- 3:11Speaker 3: You know? Hey. Yeah, why not? It is good.
- 3:20Speaker 2: It's got a little bit of a hoppiness on the end.
- 3:23Speaker 2: A little aftertaste for you. Usually the lagers, they're going
- 3:26Speaker 2: to be pretty crisp, pretty clean.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Yeah. That's got that floral notes just hanging around towards
- 3:30Speaker 3: the end. Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 1: This is using American and German hops. The Cascade adds
- 3:37Speaker 1: citrus and floral notes, while the Hirschbroeckler contributes traditional German
- 3:42Speaker 1: herbal character.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Quite herbal, quite floral, I would say, more than any citrus.
- 3:47Speaker 3: I'm not getting any citrus in this one. I should
- 3:51Speaker 3: have ate a bunch of candy before I started. The
- 3:54Speaker 3: aftertaste makes me think I'm drinking an IPA. Does it not?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Like a light IPA. It's a 6%er? I'm telling you.
- 4:02Speaker 3: It's quite hoppy for a lager.
- 4:04Speaker 1: I don't know that it's... It's just kind of got
- 4:07Speaker 1: a little lingering. Just a little lingering, but it's not
- 4:11Speaker 1: like a... I'm not taking points off for it. I'm
- 4:13Speaker 1: just saying it tastes like it's.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Some hops on the ass end of it. A little bit.
- 4:17Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying. Just a little bit. I'm not
- 4:19Speaker 3: dogging it.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:21Speaker 3: You make it sound like I'm dogging it. I mean.
- 4:24Speaker 2: What's the average score on this real quick, and then
- 4:25Speaker 2: we'll slam on the word done, and we'll give them
- 4:27Speaker 2: our scores.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Do you have it on tap? You didn't have it ready?
- 4:30Speaker 1: Normally it pulls it, but it didn't pull it that
- 4:31Speaker 1: time for me. So here in 3, 2, 1, I
- 4:35Speaker 1: can tell you it's a 3.8 out of 5 out
- 4:39Speaker 1: of 9,852 ratings.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Wow. Oh, I guess it just came out of that. Cheers.
- 4:44Speaker 3: All right.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Well, they got to create a new one for it
- 4:47Speaker 1: every year.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. It's going to be, for this one, I
- 4:53Speaker 3: like it. You know what I'll do? I was going
- 4:55Speaker 3: to say 3.7. It's a 3.50 for me. It's I
- 4:59Speaker 3: enjoy it.
- 4:59Speaker 2: But at that, that hoppiness towards the end, it's kind
- 5:01Speaker 2: of just, and so, as I said, I wouldn't deduct points.
- 5:05Speaker 1: You literally just deducted points.
- 5:07Speaker 3: I am deducting points.
- 5:08Speaker 1: You lying bastard. I'm a three, seven, five on this one.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I enjoy it. It's good.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I'd like to have some more. I might run by
- 5:17Speaker 1: my local. I could simply get this in my local target,
- 5:19Speaker 1: not target Kroger.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I mean, you probably get a target to see package.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I got seven, 17. I think that's a 26. Yeah. Yeah. So,
- 5:29Speaker 3: I mean, it's from this year, obviously.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and they typically release this late summer is when
- 5:34Speaker 1: this beer comes out.
- 5:35Speaker 3: You see it in August. You know, late August, all
- 5:37Speaker 3: of a sudden, you see it.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I saw this thing floating around in the 12-pack, and
- 5:40Speaker 2: I was like, too early, too early. But then I
- 5:42Speaker 2: went to Total Wine, went to Louisville Total Wine this time,
- 5:45Speaker 2: and loved the selection. I had to stop going there
- 5:48Speaker 2: for a little while because it was just kind of
- 5:49Speaker 2: pissing me off every time I go in there. But
- 5:51Speaker 2: this time, went on like a Monday or Tuesday. When
- 5:53Speaker 2: I told you I went, it was chill as hell.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Nobody was there. It was Monday.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I was at the kids lesson when I got the text.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Good beer. Good and good for you. How about that?
- 6:05Speaker 1: Put that in your gullet and enjoy it.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Taste it and drink it up.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Have you had this year's Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest Fest beer?
- 6:15Speaker 1: Let us know. As always, I'm Alan.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Talk to you later. Deuces.
