- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Let's go, baby, let's go. From a championship backfield to
- 0:06Speaker 2: your morning drive.
- 0:07Speaker 3: Hands to Hester, and Hester.
- 0:09Speaker 4: Yep, got it, five out of five. You're locked in
- 0:12Speaker 4: to Off the Bench.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Flynn is back to throw for the end zone.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Ball.
- 0:18Speaker 5: Live from the Raising Cane Studio, here's Jacob Hester and
- 0:22Speaker 5: Matt Flynn.
- 0:23Speaker 6: Off the Bench.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Welcome in OTV here on this Checks to Watch Tuesday morning.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 0:59Speaker 7: Love a Tuesday around here.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Oh, that's true.
- 1:05Speaker 8: Best day of the week. Golden panels behind us. Some
- 1:09Speaker 8: call them yellow. We call them gold.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you know why we call them gold?
- 1:12Speaker 6: Because we got some gold in our pockets because the
- 1:14Speaker 6: pontoon parlay hit, baby.
- 1:19Speaker 9: Let's go.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Week two. Week two.
- 1:21Speaker 7: Actually, week one.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Week one. Wasn't even week two. Week one.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Zero don't count.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Zero is preseason. No.
- 1:28Speaker 7: Yeah, y'all act like we were even trying in week zero.
- 1:31Speaker 9: No, didn't try at all. I didn't put any effort
- 1:33Speaker 9: into it at all.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Kidding me?
- 1:35Speaker 7: Kidding me? So we're going to pass this thing around
- 1:37Speaker 7: this morning, hour number one.
- 1:38Speaker 9: Let's go.
- 1:39Speaker 7: Every seg.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Hopefully you made some money. Shout out to Carly. I
- 1:43Speaker 1: know she held strong. She was stressing. She was stressing. Yep.
- 1:48Speaker 6: Was keeping her up at night because she had to
- 1:50Speaker 6: go three different days.
- 1:51Speaker 9: I woke up, had three notifications from her.
- 1:53Speaker 1: She had to go Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and stress
- 1:57Speaker 1: it out. Yep. Don't hit cash out.
- 1:59Speaker 7: Nope, don't do it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: It was $ 60 before the game yesterday.
- 2:02Speaker 6: $ 60 on Alondra's bet.
- 2:04Speaker 1: 10, right? You put 10 on it?
- 2:06Speaker 9: I put 10.
- 2:07Speaker 1: But if you held, you made what? 150?
- 2:09Speaker 9: Actually, on DraftKings, the line was three. So it voided
- 2:15Speaker 9: the last leg for me on DraftKings. But I still
- 2:19Speaker 9: made like $ 72.
- 2:19Speaker 6: DraftKings might have literally been the only place.
- 2:23Speaker 9: I think so, yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 8: I actually took him straight up last night. It was
- 2:26Speaker 8: like three last night. And I didn't buy the hook.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I got it at two and a half. And I
- 2:32Speaker 1: said that on Friday. Yeah.
- 2:34Speaker 8: Oh, for sure, because we looked at it. It was
- 2:36Speaker 8: at that time when we picked, it was two and
- 2:38Speaker 8: a half.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 8: You got to follow us right when we say it,
- 2:40Speaker 8: when the words come out of our mouth. But either way,
- 2:43Speaker 8: you won how much?
- 2:44Speaker 9: $ 70- something?
- 2:46Speaker 2: $ 72.
- 2:46Speaker 1: That's seven times your money.
- 2:48Speaker 9: Let's go.
- 2:49Speaker 7: I got to tell you, SMU should have won by 14.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Oh, my God. They tried to lose.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Everything they could to lose that game.
- 2:57Speaker 7: Bad interceptions.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Muff punts. Muff punts.
- 3:02Speaker 8: Penalties on defense on third down, on fourth down, jumping
- 3:05Speaker 8: off sides on a field. They tried everything. I was
- 3:07Speaker 8: so frustrated watching that game. Almost punching air. Mike Norvell
- 3:13Speaker 8: is just a terrible, like a dumb-looking face, like punchable.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Face on the sideline.
- 3:19Speaker 8: And I've always kind of respected him a little bit,
- 3:21Speaker 8: but his facial expressions, body language on the sideline, Body
- 3:25Speaker 8: language was J. Cutler level bad. And I think he
- 3:28Speaker 8: was trying to, like, be kind of hard or something.
- 3:31Speaker 8: I think he was, too. But it was not reading well.
- 3:34Speaker 4: He's trying to act like he's, like, still in it,
- 3:36Speaker 4: you know?
- 3:37Speaker 7: Yeah. Kind of walking around like, look at me.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Mike Nordele.
- 3:42Speaker 7: Really, he's kind of, like, counting.
- 3:43Speaker 4: He's like, where's that bottle of money, bro?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah. See, my fans are doing dress-up exercises. Have we
- 3:51Speaker 1: ever seen.
- 3:53Speaker 6: A program like a Florida State crumbles so fast.
- 3:59Speaker 7: There's the face. And my God, I get it. You're
- 4:02Speaker 7: going to sell patches.
- 4:05Speaker 8: But it looks like they added on a plastic portion
- 4:10Speaker 8: of two or three inches to their sleeve on their polos.
- 4:13Speaker 8: And the shirt looked terrible, too, for Florida State. They
- 4:17Speaker 8: did everything they could. They deserved to lose with those sleeves.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Look at that thing.
- 4:21Speaker 7: It looks like they added these little... Kevlar extensions.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Look at these. You see them? Oh, I saw them.
- 4:29Speaker 7: Look at them.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 4:30Speaker 4: To your point, Jake, 2022, he takes Florida State 10-3.
- 4:34Speaker 4: You're like, all right, cool.
- 4:36Speaker 7: Then 13-1.
- 4:37Speaker 4: And honestly, a lot of people thought they should have
- 4:40Speaker 4: made the playoffs. Then 2-10, 5-7.
- 4:43Speaker 6: I mean, look, they beat LSU back-to-back years, so it's
- 4:46Speaker 6: not like I'm like, I'm not laughing at you.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm crying for you because you're that bad now.
- 4:53Speaker 9: And.
- 4:54Speaker 6: You're kind of a poverty program. Jimbo left you because
- 4:58Speaker 6: you wouldn't spend money. You can't even pay the electric bill.
- 5:01Speaker 4: You damn sure can't pay his buyout if you can't
- 5:03Speaker 4: pay the electric bill.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Our guys, Danny Cannell and E.J.
- 5:06Speaker 6: Manuel had to go pass the hat around to pay
- 5:08Speaker 6: the bill last night.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Like, what are we doing?
- 5:11Speaker 6: Like, Florida State, when Matt and I were growing up,
- 5:15Speaker 6: they were top five for like 13 straight years.
- 5:19Speaker 1: They were like the cool kids.
- 5:21Speaker 6: They had Peter Warrick and they had Warwick Dunn, and
- 5:24Speaker 6: they had all these. The uniforms were bad. They were
- 5:27Speaker 6: top five starter jackets out there. Almost cursed at 706.
- 5:30Speaker 6: We don't do that here. Yeah, starter jackets.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Elite. The helmet's still elite. They've messed up the jersey
- 5:35Speaker 1: kind of.
- 5:36Speaker 7: Dude, I remember.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Charlie Ward.
- 5:38Speaker 4: We'd be on vacation for Thanksgiving. It was like the
- 5:41Speaker 4: last game of the year. Florida versus Florida State used
- 5:44Speaker 4: to be awesome.
- 5:45Speaker 1: That was an.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Incredible rivalry because they were both good. Now nobody cares
- 5:49Speaker 4: about that.
- 5:52Speaker 7: Kind of stinks, right?
- 5:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't really care.
- 5:58Speaker 8: I think college football is cooler if they're good.
- 6:06Speaker 7: I liked when Jameis was there.
- 6:08Speaker 8: I think the atmosphere can get really good with the
- 6:11Speaker 8: Seminole Chop.
- 6:12Speaker 7: Is that what they call it? What do they call it?
- 6:14Speaker 4: Tomahawk Chop.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Tomahawk Chop. I like the Seminole Chop.
- 6:20Speaker 9: Aren't they the Seminoles?
- 6:21Speaker 7: I would have thought the same thing.
- 6:22Speaker 8: It's the Seminole Tomahawk is what they're doing. Uh, SMU
- 6:28Speaker 8: and I, your quarterback was so like rollercoaster yesterday. Like
- 6:34Speaker 8: who makes some good plays, but my God, they either
- 6:38Speaker 8: have the worst offensive line or he just scrambles way
- 6:40Speaker 8: too much.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 6:41Speaker 4: See how many yards you finish with?
- 6:43Speaker 8: Like probably 500, 430, 430.
- 6:47Speaker 7: But you watch that game.
- 6:48Speaker 1: He's a good player.
- 6:49Speaker 7: Like you watch that game and you're like, he's not
- 6:51Speaker 7: that good, but He's.
- 6:53Speaker 6: A good player individually, but I see what you're saying.
- 6:57Speaker 6: It doesn't really work in a team setting, but he's
- 7:00Speaker 6: super athletic.
- 7:01Speaker 1: He's got a lively arm. He's fast. He's big. He's
- 7:04Speaker 1: frustrating to watch.
- 7:05Speaker 6: I can get how a quarterback that's played as many
- 7:08Speaker 6: games as you can feel that.
- 7:11Speaker 8: It's frustrating to watch people that you see very talented
- 7:14Speaker 8: play very undisciplined. That's kind of what he does. Now,
- 7:19Speaker 8: it's effective for a lot of the game. But he'll
- 7:23Speaker 8: make some really dumb things. But Florida State, how many
- 7:25Speaker 8: bubble screens does SMU throw where they made in New
- 7:30Speaker 8: York between 8 and 25 yards on bubble screens? What
- 7:33Speaker 8: in the Jimbo Fisher are they doing?
- 7:36Speaker 1: I know. You think Coach Jimbo was there? Yeah, they
- 7:39Speaker 1: were doing it in honor of Jimbo. Love a bubble screen.
- 7:42Speaker 1: My God.
- 7:44Speaker 6: There are some teams across the country. Clemson, you're one
- 7:47Speaker 6: of them. You've got to tear up your 2012 playbook.
- 7:51Speaker 6: But that stuff doesn't work anymore. Teams are too fast.
- 7:56Speaker 6: So if you want to do something that isn't 2012.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Go bigger.
- 8:02Speaker 6: Play between the tackle boxes. Teams aren't built for that, maybe.
- 8:07Speaker 6: But you thinking that you can just throw a jailbreak
- 8:10Speaker 6: screen now and it's a good play?
- 8:12Speaker 1: Teams are too fast.
- 8:15Speaker 7: I see a lot of College team's still doing it.
- 8:20Speaker 8: And a lot of times it's effective because not every
- 8:22Speaker 8: college team is that good on defense or fast on defense. But, man,
- 8:26Speaker 8: I just watched one where Clinton tried to do a
- 8:28Speaker 8: third nine.
- 8:29Speaker 7: Exactly.
- 8:30Speaker 1: It can't be your third down.
- 8:31Speaker 8: Granted, I think they just put their true freshman quarterback
- 8:34Speaker 8: in into that atmosphere.
- 8:36Speaker 1: That's also on them.
- 8:37Speaker 8: Probably don't want a three-step drop in third and nine
- 8:41Speaker 8: with these double-A-get-muggers and them feasting right now.
- 8:44Speaker 9: We were talking about it on Saturday because– I was
- 8:48Speaker 9: looking at the coaches that do all the hand signs,
- 8:51Speaker 9: and I was like, I love that. Like, I wish
- 8:52Speaker 9: I could do that. I want that to be my job.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 9: It's just really funny to me. They're like just throwing
- 8:59Speaker 9: arrows like three times in a row. But we were laughing,
- 9:02Speaker 9: and I was like, I miss the cards where they
- 9:06Speaker 9: had the different symbols on them. And then we looked
- 9:09Speaker 9: across the sideline, and they had the cards. And Chris
- 9:13Speaker 9: was like, that is so.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Clemson. Yeah, Clemson had him. That's because they're still running
- 9:17Speaker 1: that offense.
- 9:17Speaker 9: Yeah, he was like, that is so indicative of the
- 9:20Speaker 9: fact that they have Chad Morris.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Look, oh, Andrew.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a thing in like 2014.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 7: I'm going to tell you something.
- 9:27Speaker 1: That's what their offense is. Tell me.
- 9:28Speaker 7: I don't want you to treat me any differently. You
- 9:31Speaker 7: used to do that. I'm the same guy.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Okay. Because I walked in this morning. I know exactly. Stop.
- 9:36Speaker 7: I'm getting excited.
- 9:37Speaker 1: 2003, LSU won the national championship.
- 9:39Speaker 6: Yes.
- 9:40Speaker 8: Some people say. That it was because the second decoy
- 9:44Speaker 8: signaler on the sideline for offense really threw the other
- 9:48Speaker 8: teams off.
- 9:49Speaker 1: And we won because of that.
- 9:50Speaker 9: And it was you?
- 9:51Speaker 1: It was me.
- 9:51Speaker 9: I can't believe it.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I was the fake signaler.
- 9:54Speaker 9: You're my hero.
- 9:56Speaker 1: He had a headset tucked into his belt.
- 9:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Yep.
- 9:59Speaker 8: Not into an actual device. Nope, it was tucked in
- 10:01Speaker 8: behind here. And you were.
- 10:03Speaker 9: Just doing random stuff?
- 10:06Speaker 7: Oh yeah.
- 10:10Speaker 9: Oh my gosh, I love that.
- 10:11Speaker 1: You're so good at it. Did anybody dabbo when they
- 10:14Speaker 1: made a play?
- 10:15Speaker 7: Probably.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I did. You did at home?
- 10:18Speaker 7: I did at home.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Dabbo.
- 10:20Speaker 4: You said second decoy signal caller?
- 10:24Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 10:24Speaker 7: There was another one. It was first to Marcus.
- 10:27Speaker 1: No, no. I was better. Jay Russ was at the game,
- 10:31Speaker 1: by the way.
- 10:32Speaker 9: I saw that.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I did see that. Yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 7: Picked up lane.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Looked good.
- 10:34Speaker 7: I saw a.
- 10:35Speaker 9: Video of him throwing a ball.
- 10:38Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Heck, yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 9: Still got a cannon.
- 10:39Speaker 7: He threw it to some YouTuber.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I saw him throw one in the indoor. Yeah.
- 10:44Speaker 6: And I was like, he didn't ever lose that. He
- 10:46Speaker 6: still got that. He flicked his wrist and was like, hey.
- 10:49Speaker 6: Let me ask you a question.
- 10:50Speaker 8: How do these YouTubers that are, you know, they got
- 10:56Speaker 8: some strange hair. They're 115 soaking wet.
- 11:00Speaker 1: They're always 5'6, 115. Always.
- 11:03Speaker 8: Why do they seem like they have 24-7 access to
- 11:08Speaker 8: LSU's facilities?
- 11:12Speaker 9: That's a great question.
- 11:14Speaker 1: It's fair. And I hadn't been over there since Lane's there.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But they got these YouTubers. Well, you could. I could.
- 11:22Speaker 1: You could. Like, they would definitely let you do whatever
- 11:24Speaker 1: you wanted.
- 11:25Speaker 7: Hey, can I get in the indoor? I want to
- 11:26Speaker 7: run some routes. Can you get a former QB to
- 11:28Speaker 7: throw to me?
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Put your Marcus on campus.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Get him.
- 11:33Speaker 7: Yeah, get your Marcus.
- 11:34Speaker 9: Ring the bell.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I think that's probably set up by a lot of,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I mean, maybe different people. Like, I don't know. I think,
- 11:39Speaker 1: and LSU's always been like this. Is that good for recruiting?
- 11:41Speaker 1: I was just about to say, it's.
- 11:43Speaker 7: For, like, some little.
- 11:45Speaker 6: It's not just a little wiring thing. To your point,
- 11:48Speaker 6: that's been happening forever.
- 11:49Speaker 7: I know.
- 11:50Speaker 1: It has. It can't be that good for recruiting. I
- 11:53Speaker 1: think all these things are for recruiting.
- 11:55Speaker 6: I think the laser show at halftime, which I didn't
- 11:59Speaker 6: mind at all.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I know a lot of people were like, why are
- 12:00Speaker 1: we doing this? Why does it matter? I actually thought
- 12:03Speaker 1: it looked kind of cool. Yeah, it didn't bother me
- 12:06Speaker 1: at all. Me neither.
- 12:06Speaker 9: You know what is annoying is the people being like, oh,
- 12:09Speaker 9: this– They spent money on this, but the roads are
- 12:13Speaker 9: messed up. I'm like, do you know how things work
- 12:15Speaker 9: at all in the real world?
- 12:17Speaker 6: Because I posted from the radio booth, and all the
- 12:19Speaker 6: comments that were negative were, yeah, but we got potholes.
- 12:23Speaker 9: Okay.
- 12:24Speaker 6: Okay.
- 12:25Speaker 9: You want Todd Graves to fix every.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Pothole in Louisiana? Yeah, Todd Graves made for it. So
- 12:30Speaker 1: what are we talking about?
- 12:31Speaker 4: He don't work for the state.
- 12:32Speaker 1: So sorry, bud.
- 12:33Speaker 7: Take it up with them.
- 12:34Speaker 8: Bro, it's too hot for a snowflake right here.
- 12:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 1: It's so hot. No snowflakes allowed. Like, go fly a kite, nerd. God. Oh,
- 12:44Speaker 1: but the library.
- 12:45Speaker 9: Don't let Bob Mann see that.
- 12:48Speaker 7: Yeah. Go touch grass, nerds.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah, one time. Put a toe on a blade. My God.
- 12:54Speaker 9: A toe on a blade?
- 12:55Speaker 1: That's good. I'm writing that one.
- 13:00Speaker 7: Down.
- 13:01Speaker 6: Let's forget about the 102,000 people that are spending money
- 13:04Speaker 6: in our state.
- 13:05Speaker 1: We got Elon now. Jeez and Pete's. Some people just
- 13:10Speaker 1: can't have fun, though. No fun had. Can't do it.
- 13:13Speaker 7: Not if there's a pothole.
- 13:14Speaker 6: Golly, like Saturday night was utopic. We're worried about potholes.
- 13:20Speaker 6: You know what? Go get some asphalt at Home Depot
- 13:22Speaker 6: and fill them in.
- 13:24Speaker 8: We still got this 5% rated bridge in Lake Charles.
- 13:30Speaker 7: We're doing drone shows and laser beams.
- 13:34Speaker 9: Yeah, that bridge was like that before the drone shows.
- 13:37Speaker 7: We're putting smile on people's faces.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Oh.
- 13:43Speaker 9: It's good for morale.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I got a public service announcement.
- 13:46Speaker 2: So good for morale.
- 13:48Speaker 7: PSA. This is a sports show, right?
- 13:51Speaker 1: For the cards?
- 13:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 1: No, not a card grading service.
- 13:55Speaker 8: Public service announcement for all LSU fans out there.
- 13:59Speaker 7: Okay. TJ Daughtery is a hell of a football player.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Don't tell Ole Miss fans that, Matt. They think he sucks.
- 14:09Speaker 8: Do not sleep on that man. He is one hell
- 14:12Speaker 8: of a football player. And I just watched. I came in,
- 14:17Speaker 8: opened my computer up. Because I didn't really do a
- 14:19Speaker 8: lot yesterday as far as film review in the afternoon.
- 14:23Speaker 8: Had some things going on. Playing outside a little bit.
- 14:25Speaker 8: You're a father and also a businessman.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And a businessman. Yeah. Yesterday I had to play a
- 14:29Speaker 1: little golf. Oh, how'd that? Sorry. I don't want. Nope. Squirrels.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Go ahead. Finish. We got rained out.
- 14:36Speaker 6: Dang.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I was about to say, did y'all play underwater?
- 14:38Speaker 8: I came in here, and I turned it on, and
- 14:40Speaker 8: it was into the second quarter, and I watched five
- 14:43Speaker 8: plays of LSU's defense in the last couple minutes leading
- 14:46Speaker 8: up to the show. Three very good plays from TJ,
- 14:50Speaker 8: and I was like, wow, that's a small sample size
- 14:52Speaker 8: I just looked at, and he had three outstanding plays.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yes.
- 14:56Speaker 7: And I was like, man, he's a guy that continues
- 14:59Speaker 7: to show.
- 14:59Speaker 8: So get excited. Yeah, Whit Weeks, badass. But the guy
- 15:04Speaker 8: sitting next to him, Mr. TJ Daugherty, one heck of
- 15:08Speaker 8: a football player.
- 15:09Speaker 6: Yeah, and hopefully you know by this point, we are
- 15:13Speaker 6: one of the few, we are going to tell you,
- 15:15Speaker 6: my God, were we wrong on that. In fact, we
- 15:17Speaker 6: used to do right, wrong, and indifferent to tell you
- 15:19Speaker 6: we were wrong because I do feel like it's very
- 15:21Speaker 6: important in this profession when people only champion when they
- 15:24Speaker 6: were right very often, you need to tell people when
- 15:27Speaker 6: you're wrong. But if we're going to champion when we
- 15:30Speaker 6: were right, when he committed, signed, I was like, I
- 15:35Speaker 6: just covered Ole Miss for the Sugar Bowl and for
- 15:37Speaker 6: the Fiesta Bowl for serious. And so I had pretty
- 15:40Speaker 6: good knowledge of him as a player. I was like,
- 15:43Speaker 6: that guy's a dog. And he's sideline to sideline. And
- 15:47Speaker 6: if you pair him next to Whit Weeks, it upgrades
- 15:50Speaker 6: your defense threefold.
- 15:52Speaker 1: I got thought that and Taylor can back me up.
- 15:55Speaker 6: I was like, this guy is going to help you,
- 15:58Speaker 6: even though it's not going to be talked about like
- 15:59Speaker 6: some of the other transfers, because, you know, it's a,
- 16:02Speaker 6: Middle linebacker is a little bit like running back. It's
- 16:05Speaker 6: a little bit like center. You really need one. You
- 16:08Speaker 6: got to have one, but we're not going to talk
- 16:10Speaker 6: about it a lot.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Sure. That guy.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Yep.
- 16:13Speaker 8: He made some plays that were worth talking about, and
- 16:16Speaker 8: I was watching, and I felt so strongly about it.
- 16:18Speaker 8: I decided to interrupt what y'all were talking about and
- 16:22Speaker 8: give that PSA announcement because the defense.
- 16:26Speaker 1: He was the second highest graded player on your team. Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 8: The defense continues to impress looking back at the game.
- 16:33Speaker 8: Of course, it was extremely impressive. It's the first game
- 16:37Speaker 8: of the season. Normally, you see a lot of missed assignments.
- 16:40Speaker 8: You see a lot of things that were like, man,
- 16:43Speaker 8: that was a dumb mistake. I saw some of that,
- 16:47Speaker 8: but not nearly as much as you normally would in
- 16:50Speaker 8: a game one. I promise you, SMU and Florida State,
- 16:53Speaker 8: they're both of them watching that tape back today, and
- 16:56Speaker 8: they're like, oh, God, that was terrible. Oh, we missed this.
- 16:58Speaker 8: We missed that. We missed that. a bad read here, man,
- 17:01Speaker 8: you dropped in the box here. You're supposed to have,
- 17:03Speaker 8: you're supposed to have a three to the flat or whatever. Um,
- 17:07Speaker 8: there's a lot of corrections and of course there's going
- 17:09Speaker 8: to be corrections from, from the entire table. Even the
- 17:12Speaker 8: best game anybody's ever played. There was still 10 or
- 17:15Speaker 8: 15 corrections for that one guy, right? There's always corrections,
- 17:18Speaker 8: but there wasn't any like big bad blown assignments. I
- 17:22Speaker 8: think I saw, I saw Benefield. I think he missed
- 17:25Speaker 8: an assignment one time, uh, He should have had the
- 17:27Speaker 8: wheel route, and they could.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Have hit him. The running back? Yeah, the running back.
- 17:30Speaker 8: I think that was probably Benefield's. I don't think the
- 17:33Speaker 8: end was supposed to appeal on that. I think it
- 17:34Speaker 8: was probably supposed to be Ty's. But that was the
- 17:37Speaker 8: one gaffe that I saw. So can I just tell
- 17:41Speaker 8: you how impressive that is? In college football, with an
- 17:44Speaker 8: all-new roster, that your LSU Tigers were so locked into
- 17:49Speaker 8: their game plan, so well-coached, And that speaks volumes to
- 17:53Speaker 8: their offseason. That speaks volumes to their coaching and volumes
- 17:56Speaker 8: to the attention to detail paid in training camp and
- 17:59Speaker 8: the amount of care that the kids have. So watching
- 18:03Speaker 8: this film, it makes me even more and more excited
- 18:08Speaker 8: about where they can go. But I can tell you
- 18:10Speaker 8: they were 20 times more prepared than the Tigers they faced.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Cook.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Turnovers. Yay. Pontoon parlay.
- 18:22Speaker 7: We're passing this around.
- 18:23Speaker 1: All right. We'll take a break. We'll continue on. A
- 18:26Speaker 1: little LSU talk. Kind of look at some of the grades.
- 18:29Speaker 6: What position group Lane Kiffin still thinks needs to go
- 18:33Speaker 6: up a notch or two because, well, you're going to
- 18:36Speaker 6: face better defensive fronts.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Hint, hint. Wink, wink. We'll tell you all about that
- 18:40Speaker 1: when we come back here on OTV.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Off the bench all right go to gcop.com gcop.com gulf

- 19:45Speaker 7: Gcopnet.com. Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 19:41Speaker 7: Presented by Community Steel.
- 20:12Speaker 1: All right.
- 20:19Speaker 6: Welcome back in OTB here on this Tuesday morning. If
- 20:23Speaker 6: you're wondering why we're passing around the OTB turnover chain,
- 20:26Speaker 6: it's because we made you some money. Pontoon parlay hit
- 20:30Speaker 6: this week.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Four for four. We love Dev, but Dev was holding
- 20:35Speaker 1: us back a little bit. The little. Jinx on the parlay.
- 20:39Speaker 1: It's okay, though.
- 20:40Speaker 7: He made us make bad picks.
- 20:41Speaker 1: He did.
- 20:42Speaker 7: It's because he was giving us beer.
- 20:45Speaker 1: That's what it was.
- 20:46Speaker 6: He was giving us respect your body, and maybe we
- 20:50Speaker 6: were thinking a little different.
- 20:52Speaker 1: It was good, though. But we did win, so listen
- 20:55Speaker 1: to it. Mine are gone. They ran out. There's a
- 21:00Speaker 1: hole in them.
- 21:03Speaker 6: All right, so LSU football obviously had a Pretty decent
- 21:07Speaker 6: game on Saturday. So much so that they did set
- 21:10Speaker 6: the record for, you know, first downs in program history.
- 21:15Speaker 6: And I got to read this before we get to
- 21:16Speaker 6: something that Lane Kiffin wants to improve. This is from
- 21:20Speaker 6: Clemson Addict on X.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 21:25Speaker 6: He puts the stats of the game, right? Kind of
- 21:27Speaker 6: like the box score, the team stats. He said, that's
- 21:29Speaker 6: the most first downs LSU has ever had in a game, ever.
- 21:33Speaker 6: LSU has an official game on the books against New
- 21:36Speaker 6: Orleans YMCA. Do with that information what you will. This
- 21:43Speaker 6: poor Clemson fan is having to quote tweet the stats
- 21:47Speaker 6: and saying they get their most first downs ever when
- 21:50Speaker 6: they've played against New Orleans YMCA in.
- 21:53Speaker 1: An official game. Okay, so wait, what? Yes. Yes. Like,
- 22:00Speaker 1: I'm sure, like, in the 1800s, 1900s. They played the
- 22:03Speaker 1: YMCA team.
- 22:04Speaker 6: They played New Orleans YMCA and didn't have as many
- 22:08Speaker 6: first downs.
- 22:09Speaker 7: That's what I'm saying.
- 22:09Speaker 4: In his defense, like, did some athletes back then. YMCA
- 22:12Speaker 4: was badass.
- 22:13Speaker 1: They were just different. Poor guy. And then he ends
- 22:18Speaker 1: it with, do with that information.
- 22:20Speaker 7: What you will.
- 22:22Speaker 8: So I saw that tweet, and I didn't really– I
- 22:26Speaker 8: didn't really dive into it and spend too much mental
- 22:29Speaker 8: time on it, and I didn't understand it, so I
- 22:31Speaker 8: just moved on.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I'm like, what is he talking about?
- 22:33Speaker 6: I'm not really sure where the disconnect was, if I'm
- 22:37Speaker 6: being honest with you.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I think he's just sad.
- 22:40Speaker 9: It feels pretty straightforward.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Pretty straightforward.
- 22:42Speaker 6: LSU has played a game against a team called New
- 22:44Speaker 6: Orleans YMCA. They put together a team and played LSU,
- 22:48Speaker 6: and it's an official game, and they didn't have as
- 22:50Speaker 6: many first downs in that game as they did against
- 22:52Speaker 6: Clemson on Saturday.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Anybody else confused? Nope.
- 22:57Speaker 7: I got it now.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Look, like you said, I'm a father. Oh, God.
- 23:04Speaker 6: The guy can watch film and tell you exactly what's
- 23:08Speaker 6: going on. Coverage, front, stunt. But sometimes, can't read a tweet.
- 23:15Speaker 6: Can't read a tweet.
- 23:17Speaker 9: Is this real?
- 23:18Speaker 1: It's real.
- 23:20Speaker 6: One thing that Lane Kiffin did mention that he wants
- 23:23Speaker 6: to see improve was the offensive line.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Says that it needs to improve.
- 23:27Speaker 6: Sam Levitt did bail them out a couple of different times.
- 23:29Speaker 1: And we all saw that live.
- 23:31Speaker 6: And Sam Levitt obviously is going to be somebody that
- 23:34Speaker 6: can make you right when you don't have maybe the
- 23:36Speaker 6: best date up front. Now, we've been doing pro football
- 23:39Speaker 6: focus grades here for a long time. And typically how
- 23:44Speaker 6: we do it, before everybody started to grab and kind
- 23:47Speaker 6: of just post them and not explain it. We used
- 23:49Speaker 6: to say, okay, well, here's what our eyes told us,
- 23:52Speaker 6: good or bad, let's see if they match up. And
- 23:55Speaker 6: so for the pro football focus grades, so to Lane's
- 23:58Speaker 6: point about they need to play better, Jordan Seaton, 62.
- 24:01Speaker 6: I'll just go left tackle to right tackle.
- 24:08Speaker 1: 62, 64, 62, 59, 58. That was the pro football
- 24:10Speaker 1: focus grades.
- 24:12Speaker 6: Now, you know, sometimes like in the run game, especially
- 24:15Speaker 6: like they don't really know exactly maybe where you're trying
- 24:17Speaker 6: to get done or they don't know exactly what the
- 24:20Speaker 6: combo block is supposed to be like we knew all
- 24:22Speaker 6: of that but it tells the story of a head
- 24:24Speaker 6: coach that did see things that he wants to uh
- 24:27Speaker 6: you know them to improve on because like the players
- 24:30Speaker 6: that played well it's like okay sam levitt grades out
- 24:32Speaker 6: at 88 we talked about tj dottery and how well
- 24:36Speaker 6: we thought he played he graded out at a 90
- 24:38Speaker 6: jordan ross 94 umami ellen 83 so i mean the
- 24:43Speaker 6: guys that we thought played well graded high and The
- 24:46Speaker 6: offensive line at times I thought actually did play well,
- 24:49Speaker 6: certainly in passing stunts off in different games.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I thought compared to what it's been. Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 7: And I'm a, I hadn't watched the whole game.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:58Speaker 8: I hadn't seen like really a bad, a bad series
- 25:01Speaker 8: that they played. Not everyone, not every, but he's going
- 25:05Speaker 8: to have a good play, good play every single time.
- 25:08Speaker 7: But I hadn't, I was, this is just me.
- 25:13Speaker 8: I'm just, I've been impressed with the line myself.
- 25:16Speaker 7: But you got to know where I'm coming from.
- 25:19Speaker 1: That's what I was about to say. I think it's probably. Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 1: We're coming from watching a tape that was so horrendous. Yeah.
- 25:25Speaker 1: At the offensive line position.
- 25:27Speaker 8: And again, I am not singling the young men out
- 25:31Speaker 8: from that offensive line.
- 25:33Speaker 7: I'm singling out the grownups in the room.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Because of how bad it was.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:37Speaker 7: So where we are coming from.
- 25:41Speaker 8: Pretty sexy to me. The way they passed those stunts
- 25:47Speaker 8: off was really nice. You have to understand where we've been.
- 25:50Speaker 8: It doesn't take much to impress us right now.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Not up front. But it is good.
- 25:59Speaker 6: I think the entire messaging for LSU all day yesterday
- 26:04Speaker 6: was get it out.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Clear it. It happened. It's in the past. Move on.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I mean, there were signs around the building.
- 26:14Speaker 6: Yesterday saying, that said, can't say verbatim what it said,
- 26:20Speaker 6: but like, you ain't done-ish. And that's what it said
- 26:24Speaker 6: on the sign. Like, you haven't done blank. Like, focus
- 26:30Speaker 6: on this game. Cool, you're 1-0.
- 26:32Speaker 1: What have you done?
- 26:33Speaker 6: And then even in the halftime speech that apparently leaked.
- 26:39Speaker 1: What did you put? Can't do that.
- 26:41Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 26:42Speaker 6: God, do I wish we could. Alondra would be working
- 26:44Speaker 6: all show long to put the beeps in. But even
- 26:47Speaker 6: in the halftime speech, it was like, you.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Haven't done anything. You're supposed to do stuff like this.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Impose your will on them. What are we doing?
- 26:58Speaker 6: That mentality to me is what Coach Saban had. He
- 27:01Speaker 6: had it every time we ever played. You got him
- 27:03Speaker 6: longer than I did. But it was never good enough.
- 27:06Speaker 6: He was never satisfied. And some people were like, man,
- 27:08Speaker 6: enjoy the moment.
- 27:09Speaker 1: He didn't.
- 27:10Speaker 6: He didn't want to. He wanted to worry about the
- 27:12Speaker 6: next moment. And that's how he become the GOAT.
- 27:15Speaker 7: All the great ones do.
- 27:16Speaker 6: And I do think Lane's got a portion of that.
- 27:19Speaker 6: And look, we don't know him like we knew Coach
- 27:21Speaker 6: Saban because we're not in the locker room. He's only
- 27:23Speaker 6: been here for one game. But you can't, like, last year,
- 27:28Speaker 6: and look, raise our hands. I mean, we did it too.
- 27:31Speaker 6: Last year, I think everybody anointed LSU after beating a
- 27:34Speaker 6: bad Clemson team. And then LSU just took that for
- 27:38Speaker 6: the next game. well, really the entire rest of the season,
- 27:41Speaker 6: you never saw them raise their level of play to
- 27:45Speaker 6: match what they were capable of doing.
- 27:49Speaker 8: And look, I hated that the video got leaked, but
- 27:55Speaker 8: also I loved that the video got leaked.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I hate that there's kind of a route, but.
- 28:03Speaker 7: They're looking for.
- 28:03Speaker 9: That guy's shoes. Knowing Lane Kiffin, though, don't you... I
- 28:07Speaker 9: feel like he kind of He was approved.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 28:10Speaker 6: Either way, I mean, a lot of people did say
- 28:13Speaker 6: the same thing, Alondra. Either way, I'm with you. Like,
- 28:18Speaker 6: locker room's supposed to be sacred.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:20Speaker 6: But also, like, when he said, everybody hates you already,
- 28:24Speaker 6: so go tell them, go blank. I can't tell you. Like,
- 28:28Speaker 6: I was levitating around the house the rest of the night.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I was. I was very excited. My feet didn't touch
- 28:32Speaker 1: the ground.
- 28:32Speaker 7: I was like, ooh, ooh. I was like, Lacey, Lacey, Lacey, Lacey, Lacey,
- 28:35Speaker 7: come on.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I went and showed everybody.
- 28:37Speaker 7: Lacey, go listen to this.
- 28:38Speaker 6: I went and showed Jackson. I went and showed my father-in-law.
- 28:41Speaker 6: I went and showed Katie. I was like, yo, listen
- 28:43Speaker 6: to this.
- 28:44Speaker 4: I sent it to my dad. Didn't get a response
- 28:46Speaker 4: in 30 minutes, so I called him. I was like, hey,
- 28:49Speaker 4: did you watch the tweet I sent you? Go watch
- 28:50Speaker 4: it right now.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Making sure.
- 28:53Speaker 7: Everybody saw it.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Got a little pulse check on you.
- 28:57Speaker 7: I don't think anybody really realized he had that in him.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Didn't come off that way. Hand up.
- 29:04Speaker 7: I mean, I didn't think he had it in him.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I thought I was listening to Bo Pelini.
- 29:08Speaker 8: I mean, there's no one way to coach. There's no
- 29:11Speaker 8: one way to be great from a personality, demeanor, how
- 29:14Speaker 8: you talk to your team.
- 29:16Speaker 7: I hadn't seen that in what we get to see.
- 29:21Speaker 7: Of course, I haven't. I've never been in the locker
- 29:22Speaker 7: room with him. But that was awesome.
- 29:25Speaker 1: It was. And if you haven't heard it, don't watch
- 29:28Speaker 1: it at work today. Not suitable. Don't watch it in
- 29:30Speaker 1: front of your children.
- 29:32Speaker 6: But when you get some alone time, pop that bad
- 29:35Speaker 6: boy on.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Listen to it.
- 29:37Speaker 7: On the way to work.
- 29:37Speaker 6: And if you don't get fired up after listening to that, well,
- 29:41Speaker 6: your wood's wet. Can't light a fire with wet wood.
- 29:44Speaker 6: Can't do it.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Gosh, 733.
- 29:51Speaker 7: Yep.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Really wanted to. Yeah, you did. That's what she said
- 29:55Speaker 1: to you. Yep.
- 29:57Speaker 6: The sign in LSU's football operations, the full totality of
- 30:02Speaker 6: the message. La Tech has beaten LSU before. Get your
- 30:06Speaker 6: mind right. 1-0 is all that matters. Get over yourself.
- 30:11Speaker 1: You ain't done-ish. Get over yourself. I like that.
- 30:17Speaker 8: Hey, Wander, could you take his halftime speech and change
- 30:22Speaker 8: out the word that.
- 30:23Speaker 7: Starts with an F and just put, like, hug? Can
- 30:26Speaker 7: you do that for the next segment?
- 30:28Speaker 9: I can probably get a beach for the next segment.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I don't know. Hug. That'd be funny. All right. We'll
- 30:37Speaker 1: take a break.
- 30:37Speaker 6: But yeah, the offensive line is a place that Lane
- 30:39Speaker 6: given yesterday, kind of going back to the beginning of
- 30:42Speaker 6: this conversation, he felt like they can play better. Even
- 30:45Speaker 6: though I, I feel Matt feels laundry feels Taylor feels
- 30:48Speaker 6: you feel listening that it was much better because it
- 30:50Speaker 6: was than what you saw before. But he thinks this group,
- 30:53Speaker 6: obviously last year was last year, this year is this year,
- 30:55Speaker 6: and this group can play better than they showed on
- 30:58Speaker 6: Saturday against Clemson. And that is a scary thought for
- 31:01Speaker 6: people having to play against LSU in the future.
- 31:04Speaker 1: All right, we will step away.
- 31:05Speaker 6: More OTB when we come back here live from the
- 31:07Speaker 6: Raising Cane Studio.
- 31:09Speaker 7: Off the bench.
- 31:24Speaker 9: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Presented by Community Steel.
- 31:41Speaker 2: And nothing gets me down.
- 31:45Speaker 1: You got it tough.

- 31:57Speaker 2: how you feel. You got to roll with the punches
- 32:04Speaker 2: and get to what's real.
- 32:14Speaker 1: All right, welcome back in OTV. Tuesday morning. Tuesday. Tuesday. Here,
- 32:22Speaker 1: Raising Cane Studio.
- 32:28Speaker 6: When it comes to your health there, Matthew, you've got
- 32:31Speaker 6: to have a team that you can trust, right?
- 32:32Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Pretty important.

- 32:54Speaker 6: an Ochsner location near you at Ochsner.org. Of course, we
- 32:57Speaker 6: talk about the one that's next to Elite Training Academy
- 33:00Speaker 6: all the time right there on Burbank. That is walk-ins welcome,
- 33:04Speaker 6: full orthopedic clinic as well. Incredible rehab center all right
- 33:08Speaker 6: there on the training site. campus of Elite Training Academy.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Ochsner.org. All right, Matthew, you were talking about linebacker T.J. Dottery. Yeah.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Last segment. Yeah. You talked about some plays that he made.
- 33:23Speaker 1: He is new to LSU.
- 33:24Speaker 6: Now, LSU fans certainly, I would think and hope that
- 33:27Speaker 6: they remember him from Ole Miss.
- 33:29Speaker 7: Maybe a little familiar.
- 33:29Speaker 6: He made a couple of plays, a play or two,
- 33:32Speaker 6: on that playoff run they had a year ago. But
- 33:34Speaker 6: you were pretty excited what he did his first time
- 33:38Speaker 6: in an LSU uniform.
- 33:39Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm excited about, you know, the entire defense, how
- 33:43Speaker 8: they were flying around, playing like their hair was on fire,
- 33:47Speaker 8: seemingly not making too many mistakes that stood out. And
- 33:50Speaker 8: for a week one, extremely impressive, but no surprise. I mean,
- 33:55Speaker 8: you know, LSU does have the best assistant coach in
- 33:57Speaker 8: all of college football, Mr. Blake Baker over there, just
- 34:00Speaker 8: absolutely crushing it. But a lot of great additions to
- 34:03Speaker 8: this defense. And alongside the staples, a lot of team leaders,
- 34:08Speaker 8: people that have been here a long time, Mr.
- 34:09Speaker 7: Whit Weeks.
- 34:10Speaker 8: And who is going to be playing next to Whit
- 34:12Speaker 8: Weeks all season long?
- 34:14Speaker 7: Mr.
- 34:14Speaker 1: T.J. Jottery.
- 34:16Speaker 8: Somebody that I didn't know a ton about, but made
- 34:19Speaker 8: one hell of an introduction for himself to LSU fans
- 34:22Speaker 8: this past weekend.
- 34:23Speaker 3: And.
- 34:24Speaker 7: You know, I think watching the game, I was like, okay.
- 34:26Speaker 8: This guy's– this kid's good. He's making plays. He's flying around.
- 34:30Speaker 8: But I was really kind of had my eyes on Witt,
- 34:32Speaker 8: had my eyes on Benefield, had my eyes on DJ Pickett,
- 34:35Speaker 8: kind of watching around. But this guy just kept flashing. Well,
- 34:38Speaker 8: I turned on the film today, and I'm in the
- 34:40Speaker 8: second quarter for my game watching because so much happened
- 34:43Speaker 8: in the first quarter. It took me like an hour
- 34:45Speaker 8: and a half to get through the first quarter because
- 34:47Speaker 8: I was just like, whoa, look at this, look at that, blah, blah, blah. Well,
- 34:49Speaker 8: in the second quarter, I got through like five defensive plays.
- 34:53Speaker 8: And he flashed, stood out to me in three of
- 34:56Speaker 8: these five plays. And so I was like, well, you
- 34:59Speaker 8: know what? We might as well show him. We love
- 35:00Speaker 8: a little film around here. So, Taylor, you want to
- 35:02Speaker 8: throw that up? We've been known to dabble in the film.
- 35:06Speaker 7: Okay, second quarter, seven minutes left. Wow, what is that score?
- 35:09Speaker 1: LSU 24-3.
- 35:09Speaker 7: Okay, this is a third-in-nine.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Situation.
- 35:16Speaker 8: And you can see they're lined up in a double
- 35:17Speaker 8: a gap mug because normally, you know, double a gap mug.
- 35:20Speaker 7: It's very hard to protect, especially at the college.
- 35:23Speaker 8: Level, because there's so many different things you can do,
- 35:25Speaker 8: especially when you have a nickel flashing off the edge
- 35:27Speaker 8: out here. There's you got, you're blocking four down plus
- 35:32Speaker 8: somebody else plus a backer.
- 35:34Speaker 7: And so you always have one extra guy. You don't know.
- 35:36Speaker 8: You have to sort things out. It makes it really challenging.
- 35:38Speaker 8: We've talked about it on the show. The double a
- 35:40Speaker 8: gap mugs is a great look, especially in third and
- 35:42Speaker 8: six plus very hard to, Very hard to do, especially, oh, yeah,
- 35:47Speaker 8: throw up.
- 35:48Speaker 7: You know, is this a true freshman? Is this one
- 35:52Speaker 7: they put him in?
- 35:52Speaker 1: I can't tell. I think that still might be.
- 35:55Speaker 6: Well, still, it's the veteran quarterback, but, Matt, it was.
- 35:57Speaker 1: His second start. Okay.
- 35:58Speaker 8: So, basically, it doesn't matter. Played like a true freshman. So,
- 36:03Speaker 8: third and nine, of course, they don't trust anybody. So,
- 36:05Speaker 8: we're going to throw a wide receiver screen out to
- 36:07Speaker 8: the right.
- 36:08Speaker 7: They have this.
- 36:09Speaker 8: Gary Croton used to run this. We used to run
- 36:10Speaker 8: this at LSU in 2007. Maybe changed a little bit.
- 36:12Speaker 8: You got a little swing screen here.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Yep.
- 36:14Speaker 7: And if you don't like the look, you throw the
- 36:16Speaker 7: tunnel screen to the backside. They're still doing it.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Cool.
- 36:21Speaker 8: He probably should have just done the swing, but whatever.
- 36:24Speaker 8: He's going to throw this. So you have two AGAP muggers.
- 36:26Speaker 8: You have TJ Daughtery and Whit Weeks at the line
- 36:29Speaker 8: of scrimmage at the snap. And see who makes this
- 36:33Speaker 8: play right here. Okay, does TJ Drottery make the tackle?
- 36:36Speaker 8: He does make the tackle. No, his brother, number seven, does.
- 36:40Speaker 8: But he makes the play. I want you to watch him.
- 36:43Speaker 8: And he's just got quick hips. He understands football. He swims,
- 36:47Speaker 8: and he takes two offensive linemen. He's not going to
- 36:50Speaker 8: get credit for this play. He gets no stat for
- 36:52Speaker 8: this play. But he makes the play, allows width. Because
- 36:55Speaker 8: if he doesn't do that, make that subtle move, and
- 36:58Speaker 8: you know he's got a corner outside. He sets the
- 37:01Speaker 8: blocker up outside. He swims underneath him. and forces the
- 37:05Speaker 8: other lineman to block him.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Okay?
- 37:09Speaker 8: If he doesn't do that, that lineman's up on Witt.
- 37:12Speaker 8: And he's got a potential to score for the first down. Yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 8: that lineman's up on Witt. 52's up on Tamarcus Cooley.
- 37:17Speaker 6: And then you're counting on DJ Pig at the backside
- 37:19Speaker 6: corner to have to come all the way over and
- 37:21Speaker 6: make the play.
- 37:22Speaker 7: So this is your linebacker crew.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Six.
- 37:25Speaker 8: Number seven. They are both in the line of scrimmage.
- 37:28Speaker 8: Witt's going away from the play. Those two guys make
- 37:30Speaker 8: the play from being at the line of scrimmage at
- 37:32Speaker 8: the beginning. Flying around, you want to talk about team speed?
- 37:36Speaker 8: That's why you can't run these types of plays against
- 37:38Speaker 8: a defense like LSU, because they are so fast, they
- 37:41Speaker 8: are so swarming, and they play good team ball.
- 37:44Speaker 7: All right.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Let's move on. What do we got here?
- 37:47Speaker 8: Okay, this is one pass coverage. Okay, well, he's good
- 37:50Speaker 8: at tackling. He's good at run fits. He's good at
- 37:52Speaker 8: tagging the screen. He probably doesn't have good hips, right?
- 37:55Speaker 8: He probably doesn't have a quick first step.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Right.
- 37:57Speaker 7: Okay, well, let's check it out.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Okay, so.
- 38:01Speaker 8: LSU pressuring from the right side. So he's got to
- 38:04Speaker 8: move right to fill that void. So there's not a
- 38:07Speaker 8: huge hole for them to throw it. So he goes
- 38:09Speaker 8: right tight end comes at him like he's blocking. Oh,
- 38:12Speaker 8: he bluffs him and he's going to go around him.
- 38:14Speaker 8: He's got to change directions on a dime, flip his
- 38:18Speaker 8: hips and get back in the passing lane right there.
- 38:21Speaker 8: Usually as a quarterback. And I'm going to go to the,
- 38:23Speaker 8: I'm going to go to the reverse end of this.
- 38:25Speaker 8: Usually as a quarterback, when I see that right there,
- 38:29Speaker 8: right here, and my guy's running full speed this way,
- 38:33Speaker 8: and momentum for the defender is going that way, that
- 38:36Speaker 8: almost is a read that my guy's going to be open. Right.
- 38:40Speaker 8: But he has such good hips, a good first step,
- 38:44Speaker 8: that he switches directions, almost picks it off.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Yeah. I guess I didn't even notice that one in
- 38:51Speaker 1: real time.
- 38:51Speaker 7: Look at that.
- 38:51Speaker 8: I mean, you watch this in real time. Look how
- 38:53Speaker 8: he's got a quick step. So he moves right. It's
- 38:55Speaker 8: like running a pro agility drill. Up, feeding the ground,
- 38:57Speaker 8: almost a pick. That looks like a defensive back play
- 38:59Speaker 8: right there. That flashed to me. And again, this is
- 39:02Speaker 8: all within five plays.
- 39:04Speaker 7: And then one more.
- 39:06Speaker 1: One more for those. Okay, so earlier in the game,
- 39:08Speaker 1: we saw the cross dog, right? We saw the cross
- 39:11Speaker 1: dog where.
- 39:11Speaker 7: They dropped both ends.
- 39:12Speaker 8: We had one end go with the back and man-to-man.
- 39:14Speaker 7: The other end.
- 39:15Speaker 8: Drop into the shallow coverage and pick it off, pick six.
- 39:20Speaker 8: This play here, they're going to run another version of
- 39:22Speaker 8: a cross dog, but it almost becomes like an E-T-E
- 39:28Speaker 8: pressure where he's going to go all the way He's
- 39:30Speaker 8: going to make the entire curve. And I want you
- 39:32Speaker 8: to watch him make a curve. You can tell they
- 39:33Speaker 8: work on these things. You have those big hula hoops.
- 39:35Speaker 8: They run around in a circle. They try to make
- 39:37Speaker 8: that curve. I want you to watch what happens here.
- 39:41Speaker 8: So this is the play that Benefield kind of busts too.
- 39:43Speaker 8: But he makes the curve so fast, he makes the
- 39:46Speaker 8: quarterback throw it quick.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Right there.
- 39:49Speaker 8: Right there when he makes that curve, you can see
- 39:52Speaker 8: him just like explode out of a cannon.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Right there. Pop.
- 39:55Speaker 8: Makes him throw quick. Guess what happens if he doesn't
- 39:58Speaker 8: do that? Yeah, you got a rail route for a touchdown.
- 40:03Speaker 8: And so this is the one play on defense that
- 40:04Speaker 8: I saw a mental error. This guy, this is, you
- 40:07Speaker 8: can tell this defensive end, both defensive ends are rushing.
- 40:09Speaker 8: This isn't like a drop situation like they had earlier
- 40:12Speaker 8: in the game. They're rushing these two backers. So Benefield
- 40:16Speaker 8: has to be, Benefield's the one. Benefield's got to drop.
- 40:18Speaker 8: So you can see he's, kick him back in a
- 40:20Speaker 8: single high. He's got to have the back. Yeah, because
- 40:24Speaker 8: everybody else, I mean, you can tell. Yeah, we'll run
- 40:26Speaker 8: it from this place. So here's the defense, the defensive tackle.
- 40:29Speaker 8: They're all going to go. He should have gone this way.
- 40:30Speaker 8: Witt's going to come take this guy, and he's going
- 40:32Speaker 8: to try to loop all the way around him.
- 40:34Speaker 1: And it worked. But look at that. You see that
- 40:36Speaker 1: little burst? Watch that little burst when he hits the turn.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Right there.
- 40:40Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Good player, boys. And again, I'm excited. under-the-radar kind of
- 40:50Speaker 1: guy when you add him.
- 40:51Speaker 6: Not a lot of fanfare, but having six next to
- 40:55Speaker 6: seven feels like.
- 40:57Speaker 1: A hell of a recipe there for LSU's success.
- 41:00Speaker 6: All right, we will step away more OTB when we
- 41:02Speaker 6: come back here live from the Raising Cane Studio.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Off the bench.

- 43:08Speaker 6: over at Community Steel, communitysteelco.com, right there in Gonzales, Louisiana,
- 43:13Speaker 6: building sheeting components, communitysteelco.com. Louisiana Tech did score 80 points,
- 43:25Speaker 6: by the way, as a reminder. They beat Northwestern State 80-6.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Now, Northwestern State, woof. Woof? Woof. No, they don't even
- 43:34Speaker 1: deserve a woof. Sounds too much. That's disrespectful to dogs? Yeah, exactly.
- 43:39Speaker 1: I need to add at least one or two O's
- 43:44Speaker 1: to it. Woof. But, look, you didn't play well against
- 43:50Speaker 1: that team.
- 43:51Speaker 6: A year ago, so we'll see what you can do
- 43:54Speaker 6: here and this year. And, again, we talked about it,
- 43:56Speaker 6: all the different messaging, all the different signs around the building.
- 44:00Speaker 6: Certainly a point of focus there coming up. We're going
- 44:04Speaker 6: to have in the next hour Stanford Steve join us
- 44:07Speaker 6: at 830, obviously.
- 44:08Speaker 1: A part of College Game Day. He was boosting the
- 44:11Speaker 1: ground here at the game.
- 44:12Speaker 6: Can't wait to have that conversation, kind of get an
- 44:14Speaker 6: outsider perspective on what he saw on campus, on game day,
- 44:19Speaker 6: leading into the game, and then obviously the game itself. And,
- 44:22Speaker 6: of course, Nick Underhill, new on Stop Football, will join
- 44:24Speaker 6: us to talk Saints. The Pells made a trade.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Yeah? Huh?
- 44:29Speaker 7: Who?
- 44:31Speaker 1: Wow. Not one person looked up. It may trade with
- 44:37Speaker 1: the Grizzlies. Yeah, but we got TJ Donnery. That's fair.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Who cares? All right. Clock management is going to be
- 44:45Speaker 1: much better in the second hour. Maybe. More. Hour two.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Off the bench. All right. Go see our friends over
- 44:52Speaker 1: at Bayou Automotive.
