- 6:59[SPEAKER_18]: You know, I was trying to do some things.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_18]: Well, we saw the weather forecast calls for kind of a mix bag.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_18]: It's after you're doing in some warmer temperatures as a week goes on.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_18]: Maybe a little bit of a January thought.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_18]: But hopefully, by the weekend, we can get rid of some of these.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_18]: So I'm kind of call it the white stuff.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_18]: Okay.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_18]: Um, a couple of things going on.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_18]: One is we talked a bit about that fountain.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_18]: Now what I did is I decided if they don't because I asked a councilman yesterday if he wanted to bring it up and he didn't.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_18]: So I said, well, maybe I'll just make an offer to buy it, just so it doesn't get sent to some junkyard or something.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_18]: I'm going to offer him $500.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_18]: I typed up the letter today to Mayor Compo Pierce and I asked the welder, my QWIT to go over and take a peek at it to make sure it's still in serviceable condition.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_18]: Um, so, uh, we're gonna, you know, check that out for, do our, I do diligence, as they say.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_18]: But once that's done, I'll submit the letter to the city all.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_18]: Think I'll put the check in right there, just wave it in front of them and see, they need the money.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, they don't want it.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_18]: They want their weekstream $2500 in Hasel.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_18]: Instead, but, um, maybe we can make it work somehow and do something with it.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_18]: So that's in the works, letter typed, ready to go in the envelope, just waiting for the go-add from the welder.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_18]: Well, let's see, Council meeting last night.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_18]: I watched it on Steve Wee Productions, and kind of quiet.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_18]: No, well, it just wasn't the same without Cliff Olney.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_18]: Let's just put it that way.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_18]: However, you want to take that.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_18]: But no, it was Council members weighed in.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_18]: On a couple of things, it was concerns expressed about budgets and taxes, but everybody was a little timid there, but I guess there was going to be some kind of preliminary budget session in early February, so that's a little bit of an improvement, and man, what else did they do?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_18]: I didn't see a lot.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_18]: They did approve that bonding for the city hall project kind of had to do that.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_18]: They were forced into that But not much else but a quiet congenial meeting Kumbaya good time was had by all Now when the rubber meets the road, I don't know how it's going to go We'll find out We'll find out But obviously it was an easier night on the mayor
- 9:40[SPEAKER_18]: And I noticed Councilman Kimble, he was sounding very mayoral last night, taking off all these things he'd been doing at community and everything.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_18]: That guy's running in 28, 20 seven for mayor trust me.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_18]: I can sniff out a candidate from a mile.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_18]: No, I'm not saying that's bad.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_18]: I don't blame him.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_18]: So we'll see.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_18]: We'll see what happens there.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_18]: Well, let's see what else is going on.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_18]: Oh, Sheriff Corp and Ellie down at Rusk, you know the media kind of dropped the ball on that there was a New Year's Eve incident where the sheriff had to squeeze off three rounds out of the Oceola hotel, way out in the middle of nowhere, bad weather and distance made police backup an hour away and these people from one night, a county apparently came in, disconnected the security cameras and then started a big fight.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_18]: sounded to me like it was a planned event and it was kind of scary in the share of happened to be there as a civilian and all i get all these things i might comments on my blog will well what was his b.a.c.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_18]: what was it who cares he he interceded and stopped trouble because i was headed nowhere good i'll tell you right now what i saw
- 10:55[SPEAKER_18]: and it could have been bad for the owner of the hotel, it could have been bad for everybody involved.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know why they came out.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_18]: Why would you come to a place and disconnect the security camera?
- 11:05[SPEAKER_18]: Hey, you'd definitely know how to do it.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_18]: But secondly, that means you got something on your mind.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_18]: It didn't ain't good.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_18]: So when you're trying to get a hold of the sheriff, see if you can get them on the air, I'd love to talk to them.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_18]: And to me, did the right thing.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_18]: I would want somebody like that if they happen to be there when something bad happened to get involved and he was a risk to him too and I mean these people were bad and he was not in uniform so that you know you know I can sit there and say I'm a sheriff but that doesn't need anything bunch of drunken people from one night of county you know how they are down there you're bad bad people
- 11:48[SPEAKER_18]: So anyway, hopefully we can get a hold of the sheriff this week or today or something and maybe he can call out if he wants you three one five seven five five twelve forty We'd love to hear what he has to say and whether it has been any arrests someone should be arrested for this Yeah Just hope the owner of the place doesn't get in trouble Yeah Oh, let's see
- 12:15[SPEAKER_18]: something's going on up at Ogden'sburg and said on channel 7 a person in crisis.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_18]: A New York Avenue.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_18]: Oh my goodness.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_18]: That is a crisis that Ogden'sburg.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_18]: The Maple City.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_18]: Yep.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_18]: Um, you know, you got to taver it up there.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_18]: I can't say the name of on the air.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_18]: I've get in trouble if I did.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_18]: 755, 1240 the phone number if you'd like to give us a call.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_18]: uh... let's see to go to a wagons the uh... facial scans on you buy a metric data to eighty customers and that's not and do that the grand union of the pigly wiggly but uh... still that's kind of interesting kind of interesting let's see somebody text it in what they text it
- 13:15[SPEAKER_18]: you remember the big brawl happened that rood 11 north of the city no at a bar no city hall parking a lot was packed to the gills this morning yeah well that's good I don't know what this person's writing in
- 13:45[SPEAKER_18]: uh... legally that sign needs to go out to bid to the public not just be sold to the individual well no one's expressed interest you want you want i mean as soon as the world of you see okay checks it out i'm gonna send my letter and it's got to check right in and take it they haven't shown any interest in selling it or putting it back in you i'd rather see it back in use to tell you the truth yep
- 14:16[SPEAKER_18]: Well, I can't even, I don't want to den a great east hardware.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_18]: I mean, this thing they bought for 2,500 bucks doesn't do anything.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_18]: We had a perfectly good fountain.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, putting in a new base and a new island, it was great.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_18]: It looks nice.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_18]: But the planners didn't like the fountain.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_18]: That's the problem.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_18]: And we have a strong planner form of government here.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_18]: If a planning commission that answers to nobody,
- 14:43[SPEAKER_18]: and a city council does pretty much whatever the planners say so the planners apparently said these are the ones who were responsible really although you can blame regiro and old name it was the planners who were responsible for the whole golf course thing because they wanted to zoning changed and that's what precipitated the whole let's try to sell up so anyway make a long story short somebody writes in and says
- 15:13[SPEAKER_17]: They can't sell it to you.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_17]: Well, they can't.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_17]: That kind of stuff goes on all the time.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_17]: Good afternoon, Ryan here.
- 15:21[UNKNOWN]: Good afternoon, Jeff.
- 15:22[UNKNOWN]: That thought we were talking about that was put in after urban renewal, wasn't it?
- 15:27[UNKNOWN]: That's been there for quite a while.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, it's been there 60 years.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_18]: It was part of urban renewal, yeah.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_18]: that's made of the metal parts that form the lower section.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_14]: It's got to be made of something that's rust proof.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_14]: It's got all that water spraying over.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, and then there's the thing on the top.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_18]: That's aluminum.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_18]: But if it's not bad shape, I'm going to put in the offer.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_14]: How long has it been setting up there?
- 16:04[SPEAKER_18]: Well, goodness.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_18]: When did they start that court street project that was uh... Oh, ten years ago?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, not that far.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_18]: Three, four years, maybe.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know.
- 16:12[UNKNOWN]: Four.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_18]: Hmm.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_14]: No, it was a quiet council meeting last night.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_14]: It got done pretty early.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_14]: Uh, Mr. Council Garber and brought up, uh, stay had any idea of what went on with the water department.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_14]: And, uh, city manager said he was still looking into it.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_18]: Well, he said it's the same.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_18]: It's what I think he said.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_18]: It's what they said from the beginning that it was a windy day.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_14]: Well, a lot of windy days just.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_14]: And Council of Sean made a good point there, too.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_14]: He said seven, eight months ago, we talked about, you know, I think there was a part-time engine here in position that we're talking about.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_14]: They wanted to fill up.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_14]: They were talking about somebody retiring, but they didn't mention who some of somebody might be returning down the line.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_14]: They got a lot of projects going on in the city, and they're in the department.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_14]: What do you want to take the money from the... Coates department, coates a set on close to $200,000 in a slash money or a rainy day, find whatever you want to call it.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_14]: And they want to use some of that money.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_14]: What are you taking it out of the general fund?
- 17:33[SPEAKER_18]: Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_18]: I'm sorry, I've been around this stuff.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_18]: It's all government money.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_18]: Like you can say, you can go buy a hunting license from the state.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_18]: They can say, well, that funds the Duck Program.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_18]: No, the state funds the Duck Program.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_18]: The license fee is a revenue to the state and a legislature appropriates the money.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_18]: The code's department's not sitting on a pile of money.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_18]: uh... whether they underspend on their budget or something that might accrued a fund balance but the fact is you're allocating public funds to hire the and engineer i'm not saying that's bad but why do we always have to come up with some i can't say it on the air uh... reason reasoning that the simpletons will adopt it oh well it's not like we're really paying for it it's coming from you know a pile of money that's in somebody's desk the only department that ever had a pile of money in their desk was a rectifier and years ago when i don't think they do
- 18:29[SPEAKER_14]: it's a permanent close to $200,000 on hand for it.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_18]: Well, well, they don't, I don't know.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_14]: Is that the book of demolition debris that you want the taxpayers to put the bill for, is that it?
- 18:43[SPEAKER_18]: Well, I don't know.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know what they're saying, but I mean, the fact of the matter is, if you're higher in engineer, it's public money being spent to higher in engineer.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_18]: Again, not saying that's bad, but let's call it what it is.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_18]: And you can't say that they've got a pile of money sitting there that they're not going to use and we're just going to take that moving over here.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_18]: No, that isn't really how the world works.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_18]: You know, for instance, if I've got an unusually high national grid bill this month, which probably will be, do I say I move some money over from my grocery account to pay for it?
- 19:19[SPEAKER_18]: No, I just pay it out of the funds available.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_18]: I have a certain revenues of streams of revenue, and certain things that go well.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_18]: That's the way I look at it, so I don't like it when, oh, it's like when they say, oh, the lottery funds education, no, it does, and it generates billions of dollars for state government, and then a state legislature appropriates money for education as they see fit.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_18]: But it's all money, it's all fungible.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_18]: So, you know, it's a lot of these things we hear,
- 19:53[SPEAKER_18]: that are just meant for simple people to try to justify it to simple people.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_14]: You drive by that side up back to the north side.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_14]: Is that the dust construction people to be piles that we get picked up for they still sit in there?
- 20:06[SPEAKER_18]: Which ones?
- 20:07[SPEAKER_15]: No, I want you to talk about last summer at West Main Street or... Oh, the ones across from home, Dally.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_18]: I think they're still there last time I looked.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_14]: Yeah, and then uh... i assume the one on rottland street is still there although those people are happy because they got rid of all the raga muffins who were living there well you know that's probably going to be picked up because they see the there is uh... on one of the propositions last night there was a contractor construction firm there i don't know if they were going to be picking up the piles of stuff yeah i don't know either and of course there why can't we pick that up and you used to pick that up in house all the time
- 20:49[SPEAKER_18]: Well, the problem you came up at the council meeting, as you know, is these properties are not owned by the city.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_18]: Now, if it had gone through a tax sale in all the two year redemption period in the city ended up taking title, but otherwise you're clearing debris for a private landowner.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, that's just like you've got a pile of rubble back in the barn, you want the taxpayers to pick it up.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_18]: Well, right, but on the other hand, you've got, you know, a neighborhood to consider and you get blight and all of that.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_18]: Well, there's a pile of stuff there, and there's no, like they're taking the one on Rutland Street.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_18]: Now, the one on Temple Street, I guess there was homeowners insurance, and that kind of clear it out.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_18]: But the one on Rutland Street, that was a dump, just like the one over, now the one over on Crawfine, not too far from us, a dump.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_14]: Well, yeah, it has been, but we can argue about that all year and at the point they're going to say well I don't know why they paid property taxes for years, but they did Thought coffee and street was going to be moving in a big direction.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_14]: I guess I don't know.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_14]: I never did commercial Or it's Limited business a commercial.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_14]: I'm not sure what it's all down there.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_14]: Mm-hmm Why should the bottom line is why should the taxpayers put the bill?
- 22:08[SPEAKER_14]: Well, we're faced with double digit tax increase
- 22:10[SPEAKER_18]: Well, I agree.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_18]: I think the council was right in taking a powder on that.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_14]: But no, but the part that killed me is they don't share the information.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_14]: Nobody even knew that the city didn't even own that property.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_18]: Okay.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, that should be brought up and discussed and bandied about, I think, a bit.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_18]: But you know, it's not information is power and if you're the more you keep
- 22:42[SPEAKER_14]: I really just said that neighbors around you try to fix up their property and you have to look at something like that.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_14]: No, I got it.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_14]: I get it, but you got to look at the, at the cost of taxpayers' point of view.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_14]: We're going to be facing with, like I said, a big budget deficit.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_18]: I remember years ago there was that house on the corner of Pearl and East Maine.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_18]: Burned a couple of times, but yeah, that thing burned.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_18]: That thing was out of there in no time.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, and I think it should have been gotten out of there, but I think I was married at that time that probably moved it along.
- 23:26[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_14]: But that construction to be rubble there that's brick and that's fill you can dump anywhere.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_14]: There's nothing hazardous in that pile.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_18]: Well, they got it so regulated.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_18]: You have to hire firms to analyze it and firms to inspect the debris and firms to tell you where to take it.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_14]: up and put it in the back of the stone quarry and covered it up with a lease itself.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_18]: I know when the house next to me this now parking lot back in the early 1986 we bought that Marty and I bought that for $19,000 and I don't know it's hired a contractor and he took it down a whole little way I didn't you know you don't know what you're supposed to do but back and put a parking lot in but nowadays holy cow you'd have to have
- 24:13[SPEAKER_18]: Studies on lighty mission and sound studies, you don't have to have everything.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_14]: Well, it's just too bad they want to, you know, as far as clean soap, bricks and concrete.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_14]: I mean, that should be able to use to be able to use to be able to use to be able to use that anywhere.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_14]: That's good, Phil.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_18]: Well, you just got to do it like on a Friday night, and hope get it all done before Monday morning.

- 28:55[SPEAKER_18]: We are here on the show of shows.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_18]: It's not an interesting, not celebration store out there.

- 29:19[SPEAKER_18]: And we'll let you talk about whatever you want.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_18]: Again, we're trying to get the, oh, you're drooling and having a lot of different things.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_18]: It's like a good place.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_18]: Good people.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_18]: Seven, five, five, 12, 40 is the phone number.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_18]: Uh, let's see, um, Hmm.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_18]: Not a lot else going on, really.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_18]: You know, the member of Congress has passed.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_18]: He's a Republican.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_18]: That's too bad.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_18]: Because then they're going to lose an 80 year old.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_18]: And then they're going to lose, uh, Marjorie Taylor Greener.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_18]: I'll tell you there.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_18]: You could have Hawking Jeffries in there.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_18]: that's what was theorized of the for a couple of vacancies occur because there are a couple of members who even there's been talk as we told you again i'm not saying it's true and there's talk obviously in the bunchpole dot com if they're keeping an eye on stifonic sea see if she gets out early and there was a couple of the republicans who were thinking about it quarry mills and there's another one somewhere else so uh...
- 30:39[SPEAKER_18]: We don't know.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_18]: Somebody checks and get a petition together for the phone, but the loan read petitions.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_18]: Uh, somebody says, good luck with your fountain idea.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_18]: Once my plan, don't have one yet.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_18]: Um, somebody wants to know, is your- Oh, this is the six-old guy, yeah.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_18]: Once you know if I'm open, I'm Martin Luther King.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_18]: The answer is yes.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_18]: Is your bar safe for visitors when it's the last time you weren't specter?
- 31:12[SPEAKER_18]: Well, it's a matter of fact They don't inspect them However In the last if I was to choose it that new doors install with the new crash powers and everything That substantial expense Fire extinguisher in there the basements clean and not cluttered
- 31:36[SPEAKER_18]: The 6-O guys, welcome to come over and inspect it himself, but no, the government does not inspect public assembly places anymore.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_18]: I remember back in 85 and we opened, we got a certificate of occupancy with a number of maximum number you could have in there.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_18]: I think the number was kind of high, but I don't care.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_18]: We haven't had that many in there anyway.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_18]: But yeah, it's safe.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_18]: And you're going to fire alarm and all that stuff.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_18]: So yeah.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_18]: Let's say for that place in Switzerland, I'll tell you that much.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_18]: But I will tell you something about human behavior, whether they're Swiss or Americans.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_18]: Especially if they're in a kind of setting, there can be an imminent danger and they just sort of stand there like cattle or something, frozen, they don't do anything.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_18]: There's some might stampede at the door and if you can't get people out in a hurry, that's
- 32:34[SPEAKER_18]: easy to get out of.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_18]: But, you know, a lot of times you could set a fire alarm off and people sit there.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_18]: But you would do run by tickets.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_18]: You know, that kind of stuff.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_18]: Because they rather than look around and say, hey, there's something wrong to take it out of here.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_18]: So I mean, people don't necessarily, what I'm saying is you have to be responsible for people in the building.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_18]: Not everybody.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_18]: Some people are sure and smart and all of that.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_18]: 755, 1240, the phone number, if you'd like to give us a call to be on the show of shows.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_18]: And, um...
- 33:16[SPEAKER_18]: Okay.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_18]: You think you want to talk about it's okay?
- 33:21[SPEAKER_18]: I thought we'd get more comment on the sheriff out down there.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_18]: Down in Asio, but I guess... Well, I didn't make the mainstream media that's why.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_18]: It was just tangentially mentioned, I think.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_18]: That's a big thing, you know?
- 33:34[SPEAKER_18]: that's the community consciousness where everybody can talk about things at the water cooler but if there's no centralized database of information when you live in a news desert like we do and people don't know thing you could walk up to a lot of people today and say hey what do you think of that maduro that you know it's just not part of the collective consciousness like it used to be remember the back page was a big deal people
- 34:01[SPEAKER_18]: You know, they look at the editorial and that you're, you know, scared or something if they were mentioned, um, you'd go to the back page to see what you would do it on Friday night, because we're all the ads for, for bands and chicken barbecue and all that stuff, you box your ads and column inches and like 35 bucks a column inch or whatever they were at the time.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_18]: So, um, you just don't see that anymore, times have changed.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_18]: And I'm not sure necessarily for the better.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_18]: You know what I mean?
- 34:36[SPEAKER_18]: 755, 1240 is the phone number if it'd like to give us a call to be on the show of shows.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_18]: Record numbers of new car buyers agree to 1,000 on month payments.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_18]: Oh, payments are up there, aren't they?
- 34:53[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_18]: And it's easy.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_18]: You talk about 50, 60,000, 60,000 dollars finance.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_13]: whether it's five years or six years that's that was in a more a month nice car but still a lot of money good afternoon here on the air after noon Jeff hey lots of discussion over the years on your show another place is about the condition of sidewalks in water town especially in the winter time with the unsheveled on cloud sidewalks is no thanks so on it's all we all know about it
- 35:30[SPEAKER_13]: But you know, as we also know that it forces people to have to walk in the roads of the streets.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_13]: And I cannot figure out for the life of me why, you know, it's unfortunate that you have to walk in the street at any time.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_13]: But if you do, you're supposed to walk facing the traffic, not with your back to the traffic.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_13]: And I see so many pedestrians who are fortunate only are forced to walk in the street because of conditions of the sidewalks.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_13]: that are walking with their back to the traffic and then they can't see you coming and they can't hear you coming because they've got digital devices around there for years and then they can't see you because not only does they have their back to the traffic but they got the big hoodies up so the peripheral vision is limited so they can't see they can't hear
- 36:20[SPEAKER_13]: It's not a good situation, but it's incumbent upon pedestrians to walk and say fashion whether they have to walk.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_18]: I agree.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, safety is a team effort on the highway.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_18]: There's no doubt about it.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_13]: Absolutely.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_13]: We have to have their back and they have to have our back.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_13]: But I don't see that so much.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_13]: I see so many pedestrians walking with their back to the traffic.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_13]: I could never do that, I would be too scared of what the hell's got to do.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_18]: But down look at the, look at all the people you see who just step off the curb and never look.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_13]: All the time, they, well, you know what I think they do, I think they have an app on their phone that protects them from being struck by a vehicle.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_18]: Well, baby, I don't know.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_13]: I don't know.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_13]: That's the only thing, that's the only thing because the way they step off into the multi-lanes of traffic
- 37:08[SPEAKER_18]: without looking in a non-designated across there because we have a society where people have been told you know if you get hit you can sue and use got your rights and all that stuff and really what you should be concerned about is you're long-term safety and not you know whether some Syracuse law firm can get your three million dollars over getting hit or something.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_13]: Yeah I hear you Jeff okay keep up the good work there in that dead end street.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_18]: Well, it's a dead end, but not just as metaphorically, or in reality, I don't know, who knows, who knows.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_18]: All right, um, oh, getting there.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_18]: What happened to our?
- 37:59[SPEAKER_18]: There it is, yeah, there it is.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_22]: Okay, listen, we'll take some messages here and be right back.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_22]: get into it, and you'll be amazed what you get out of it.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_25]: What's next for the Buffalo Bill?
- 38:15[SPEAKER_25]: So, Biscuit rolling right, complete to tie Johnson and he shakes the tackle.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_25]: He's in for the touchdown.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_25]: The same play that they scored out in the first half works like a charm here in the fourth quarter.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_31]: The wild card matchup is set.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_31]: The bills are heading to Jacksonville Square and off with the third seated Jacksonville Jaguar.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_31]: And there's another six on the board, per Buffalo.

- 41:21[SPEAKER_22]: The news and talk authority.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_18]: There's no talking about the point things are getting you know they talk about affordability But see at Amazon you can get a 65 inch smart TV for like 400 bucks Who would have thought that who would have thought that you can get an 85 for only 1149 or if you want something smaller you get a 50 inch one
- 41:48[SPEAKER_18]: But wait 248.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, I imagine there's some shipping there or something like that, but really when you think about it I mean when you used to a family used to buy the zenith Yeah, or big RCA I remember I hate to say this again.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_18]: I'll be sounding crumudgingly But I remember when our family got the first color TV.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_18]: I remember black and white TVs
- 42:13[SPEAKER_18]: But it was around 64 or five.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_18]: We got our first color when it was in our C.A.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_18]: when we were living in Rochester.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_18]: I remember it had the color, two adjustments, color and tint.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_18]: And it was no remotes or anything like that.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_18]: That was no.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_18]: And, you know, a lot of shows were, you know, I've showers with a advertised, it was going to be in color networks and a logo at the beginning of the show, like NBC and a peacock, the scrap.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_18]: And it would be like Batman, in color, or rap patrol, in color.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_18]: It was a big deal.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_18]: And some shows were still a black and white and some were making a transition to color.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_18]: And finally, I think it was 1969, our local news here,
- 42:54[SPEAKER_18]: went to color when they moved from a champion held down to a arcade street.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_18]: That there was big GE color cameras for years.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_18]: Not used to know as any more.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_18]: They should have kept on put it in the museum.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know if they did.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_18]: But then the cameras up on champion hill, public TV moved into there.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_18]: I remember working with those guys in high school and they exiled him a Dorothy Con cameras from the 50s.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_18]: And that was something.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_18]: But yeah, when color TV's came out, that was a big deal.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_18]: And before that, they had these things that could put over the screen that was posted and simulate color, I don't think they really did.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_18]: But maybe you remember the first color TV, and that, you know, it was a big deal out in public, if a bar had a TV, yeah, for the world series or something, but once they got color, who?
- 43:51[SPEAKER_18]: Now we've got like 10 TVs or something.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_18]: Can't keep track of them all.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_18]: But it's the times we live in, right?
- 44:00[SPEAKER_18]: The times we live in.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_18]: 755, 1240, the phone number, if you'd like to give us a call to be on the show of show is today.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_18]: Well, let's see.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_18]: Somebody says, well, they got to say here.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_18]: Some shows like the monsters works better in black and white, that's true, the monsters were in black and white.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_18]: I certainly remember that as to many of you.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_18]: There's someone who says, Mayor, we never had a color TV until they had gone with the wind on television.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_18]: My saint had mother wanted to watch it in color.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_18]: Well, that was always very exciting every year on the Wizard of Oz, because they play that every year.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_18]: You had a part of it shot in black and white the part in Kansas and Kansas is still in black and white and then the once they got to eyes it was in color So that was a big deal back then it probably wouldn't be now.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_18]: Oh, what's wrong with the TV?
- 45:02[SPEAKER_18]: It's fine Good afternoon around the air.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_11]: Hello, Mr. Graham.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_11]: Yes, you were talking about people walking in the street I live on the outside of the city quite a way about four miles outside
- 45:15[SPEAKER_11]: and every known that in the evening we'll see a omnish buggy go up the road when the road is dark hmmm that is a scary i know it is yeah i went by one more excuse me one one by the other day it was dark you could just barely see him and he was calling uh buggy behind hmmm his buggy hmmm and then you can hear the horse off there clapping up through
- 45:45[SPEAKER_18]: Can you imagine that they're they're they're in buggy's and we're talking about if any of us can remember the first time the family got a color TV Do you remember that?
- 45:54[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, my grandfather got one mm-hmm.
- 45:58[SPEAKER_11]: We all used to go over the house and watch TV What was your favorite show in color?
- 46:06[SPEAKER_11]: My favorite show.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah back then.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, back then.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_18]: in Ed Sullivan or Hollywood Palace there could be any number of things oh I don't remember TV back then there's all black and white for me yeah I think Hogan's heroes is one of those ones where some episodes are black and white and some in color so it's gunsmoak pretty sure a lot of them were in black and white and they changed the color yeah and Benanne said that's another one Benanne said was color color
- 46:42[SPEAKER_18]: Well, of course Disney's wonderful world of color, you know.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_11]: That was odd.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_18]: Well, those were the days.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_11]: Yeah, we back in the day is right.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_18]: Okay.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_11]: Do you have a good one?
- 46:57[SPEAKER_18]: All right, bye now.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_18]: Goodbye.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_18]: Bye.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, it's... You know, it's fun to be a crewmogen.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_18]: All these things that went on and...
- 47:09[SPEAKER_18]: You talk about them, and all the appliances you had in the house, remember a butter dish, and had a little dome thing on it, and you pick it up, and there's no butter dish anymore?
- 47:23[SPEAKER_18]: What else was it?
- 47:25[SPEAKER_18]: The good China, and the good silverware and a wooden box, expensive wooden box, and you're open, and all the forks, and they said, and then these little holders and felt, and everything, and
- 47:38[SPEAKER_18]: God knows what you were eating when you after you put the silver polish on it there again who knows what was on there but anyway uh... and the family china all of that stuff yeah was with the days good afternoon on the air uh... mayor banana yeah that was the first colored western on tv nineteen fifty nine believe it not really
- 48:05[SPEAKER_08]: I think it ran for two years, but you won a text message, he's right, a lot of shows played better in black and white than colored like the Pujudib, David Johnson, the combat with big moral.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_08]: They played better in black and white.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_08]: The first one I saw in color was our brother, from the Colors TV, here's Lucy, remember that show with Lucy?
- 48:28[SPEAKER_08]: Oh yeah.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_08]: All mayor?
- 48:30[SPEAKER_08]: Probably 1968.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_08]: Funny, I remember that that's the first show I ever shooting color.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, I remember that there was that there was green acres There was a whole bunch of them.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, and yeah, well, I had three or four shows after she left your house when she went on her own and I always had a top 10 show But we got the TV pictures robot when it used to be on our film series mm-hmm.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_08]: My kind of TV was it silver tone is anybody silver tone.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I don't remember that I do not Yeah Silver tone my brother got it and
- 49:03[SPEAKER_08]: appearance, let us stay up to take a look at the person is funny how you can remember stuff like that and I can't remember what happened yesterday a lot of times.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, I know, terrible.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, TV was, uh, I don't know, you knew who the stars were.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_08]: I couldn't name the people on TV today if you lined a month for a man.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_08]: No, I know.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_08]: No idea who these people are.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_08]: You knew who Grandi Griffith was.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_08]: You knew who Bandai was.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_08]: You knew what?
- 49:31[SPEAKER_08]: You know, he had been in Arthur Gottry, he had a couple of shows on the TV at one time, you know.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_18]: They say he was a real H.O.B.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_18]: to deal with.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_08]: He could be, but he was very popular until, see, prior to one of my real lines with a singer on a show and he fired a guy right on the air, I believe.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_08]: Never got over that, he took a lot of heat to that, you're absolutely ready could be an S.O.B.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_08]: But he had a top-rated show on the radio on the top-rated show on TV at one time.
- 50:03[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, if you don't read it, they call them.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_18]: Let's go.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_18]: And then there was red.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_18]: Okay, thank you.
- 50:09[UNKNOWN]: You bet.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_18]: I know.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_18]: Not good to hear from all of that stuff.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_18]: Arthur Godfrey.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_18]: Hey, there you go.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_18]: Um.

- 54:13[SPEAKER_18]: Okay.
- 54:13[SPEAKER_18]: Good afternoon, Ronnier.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_18]: Hello.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_10]: Back in 1990, I bought my first
- 54:20[SPEAKER_10]: color TV at hell in electric it was uh uh twenty seven inch wow it was one of those four miles that way to like three hundred thousand i think you got like eight hundred and forty five dollars wow it's a lot of money back then yep well it's interesting uh yeah nineteen ninety is kind of like to get into the most people got color TV's in the mid to late sixties but uh
- 54:49[SPEAKER_18]: Well, it's okay.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_10]: That was my first for a new tire for our first for a new TV.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_18]: Very good.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_18]: Nothing wrong with that.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_18]: Okay.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_18]: Well, thank you for the reminiscing.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_18]: Thank you.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_18]: That's interesting.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_18]: Somebody asked me do we have Fox News or sports on at the bar?
- 55:09[SPEAKER_18]: There's six TVs that are tuned to cable channels and all of that stuff.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_18]: and four TVs carry the lottery signal up to four one one of them can switch between one of the other three to four TVs depending on what you want to do uh... so that's kind of with that so yeah i try to keep like in the morning is up with it today show on see what they're cooking they used to like it more when hold it was on but i still watch it um...
- 55:43[SPEAKER_18]: And then, usually, you have to do, and leave NBC on, watch Kelly Clarkson on that TV.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_18]: I mean, not, he was, he had music going, but Kelly Clarkson, all of that stuff.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_18]: And try to keep, certainly, keep Fox on one, CNN on a small one, spectrum news on a small TV.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_18]: But again, any of them can be switched to anything, so it depends.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_18]: But certainly when there is sports on, we put the sport in it.
- 56:12[SPEAKER_18]: I'll take Super Bowl Sunday, we'll have it on every TV.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_18]: Right.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_18]: When whoever plays in the Super Bowl, I don't know who's going to play.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_18]: It looks like a lot of people are saying, then, virgins Seattle, I don't know, I don't really know.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_18]: It'll all be clearer to me in this time next week.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_18]: Got to get that first round of bombs out of there, right?
- 56:41[SPEAKER_18]: So, 755, well, 40 of the phone number, if you'd like to add a give us a call to be on the air and we've gotten all of our commercials in, that's right, we're all caught up on that, and there you go.
- 56:55[SPEAKER_18]: Any nice Venezuelan people out there, we got to get a Venezuelan, it must be one living in water town, tell us what they think of all of this.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_18]: But actually, dude, you're on the air.
- 57:10[SPEAKER_09]: Hey Jeff, a couple of things, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,
- 57:38[SPEAKER_09]: If the chargers go into New England, beat New England, and the bill is going to beat Jack from Bill, then the chargers have to go play the Denver if they won, while the Denver's already got to buy it, so the chargers have to play the Denver, the bill has to play the other one or so, the chargers beat the Broncos, the chargers could end up back at the
- 58:04[SPEAKER_09]: There could be one more game if it worked out, play that way, anyhow.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_09]: The other thing about the TV is my father bought one, and I think it was someplace down there on the corner of high in the factory, I believe someplace down there, and it was an old
- 58:35[SPEAKER_18]: I thank you.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_18]: Yeah, and they built those TVs that were like, they had radios and record players in them and taped acts and I mean, they were like, a whole crannies of stuff there.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_18]: And all of that's gone now, TVs as furniture are gone.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_18]: It's a whole different world.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know if it's, but are we better off because of it?
- 58:58[SPEAKER_18]: Are we better off because I'm not so sure.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_18]: But I do know.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_18]: that our North Country weather is improving slowly.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_18]: It's 28 right now.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_18]: There is a winter weather advisory for leaders.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_18]: It could get some snow sleep.
- 59:14[SPEAKER_18]: It could be any number of things.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_18]: And then it gradually warms up into Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and we peek out and get her 40s on Friday.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_18]: So that's the good news, but the bad news is there might be some stuff in between.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_18]: So, you know, be careful.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_18]: Payment gets slippery when you get old.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_18]: You know, some snow and ice and a patina, I'll say, of water on it, and all of that, there's a word we don't use often on the hotline, patina, is that, is that properly used in that context?
- 59:44[SPEAKER_18]: I don't know, somebody will call in tomorrow and tell me I'm an idiot.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_18]: Alrighty that's our show for today it's been a pleasure Glenn Curry of course will be in a five o'clock today with a live at five show you don't want to miss it right here on this community broadcast station we are a i'm twelve forty wht on water town New York time on a clock CBS News next
