- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle maybe. And I'm running really late,
- 0:05Speaker 1: not with this podcast, just with my life. Like I
- 0:09Speaker 1: think I have like an hour between when I start
- 0:12Speaker 1: this and when it ends before like my dad gets here,
- 0:14Speaker 1: because he's just gonna be here for like a day.
- 0:17Speaker 1: And it's just been like the craziest week. I mean,
- 0:20Speaker 1: not like because it's Monday, so not today and yesterday week,
- 0:24Speaker 1: but like week since I last recorded week. So many
- 0:28Speaker 1: bad things, so many bad things, not terrible. Everything's going
- 0:32Speaker 1: to be okay. Gigs's leg is fine, even though she
- 0:36Speaker 1: got stuck in a plastic bag and freaked herself out
- 0:39Speaker 1: and then was limping and crying at me. My washing
- 0:42Speaker 1: machine doesn't smell like burning anymore. And the tree that
- 0:45Speaker 1: fell in the backyard is gonna be cleaned up and
- 0:48Speaker 1: I get to split the costs with my neighbor. Yay, awesome.
- 0:52Speaker 1: So everything's gonna be okay, I guess. But man, I
- 0:58Speaker 1: haven't had a lot of time to do things, so
- 1:01Speaker 1: I'm wondering if I'm gonna have to split this recording
- 1:04Speaker 1: into two parts, because I have a little bit of
- 1:06Speaker 1: time tomorrow that I could probably finish this if I
- 1:08Speaker 1: have to, So I'm gonna try to get through all
- 1:11Speaker 1: of it and make it coherent, but if it's not,
- 1:14Speaker 1: I am eternally sorry and thank you for listening, even
- 1:18Speaker 1: though I am a mess. And this is gonna be
- 1:20Speaker 1: a hard episode anyway because it's the last episode of Lane,
- 1:24Speaker 1: and I don't know how I feel about it. So
- 1:27Speaker 1: we'll discuss that but first, and not more importantly, but
- 1:31Speaker 1: more importantly to me for some reason. I don't know
- 1:34Speaker 1: if you've heard about all the stuff that's been going
- 1:36Speaker 1: on with Banana Fish. Yeah, I know that thing again.
- 1:41Speaker 1: So a couple of weeks ago, or maybe a week ago,
- 1:44Speaker 1: it feels like forever now, it was taken off of
- 1:47Speaker 1: Amazon Prime in the US, and I and other people
- 1:52Speaker 1: who really like Banana Fish knew about this for a
- 1:54Speaker 1: while because it was saying like being taken off Amazon
- 1:58Speaker 1: in like twelve days, like on it Amazon and stuff,
- 2:01Speaker 1: and basically it like really really hurt me because that
- 2:05Speaker 1: meant that there was no legal streaming in the US,
- 2:08Speaker 1: which is terrible for something you like. You know, So
- 2:12Speaker 1: I was really really upset about it, and I didn't
- 2:15Speaker 1: say anything about it on the podcast because I have
- 2:18Speaker 1: no idea why not, But I didn't oh, and before
- 2:21Speaker 1: I go on, I guess they had like an eight
- 2:23Speaker 1: year contract because it was taken off like the exact
- 2:26Speaker 1: day that it premiered eight years ago, So I get that,
- 2:30Speaker 1: you know, it happens, But anyway, maybe about a week ago,
- 2:34Speaker 1: or a week and a half ago, or two weeks ago,
- 2:36Speaker 1: who knows. At this point, there started being rumbles that
- 2:39Speaker 1: like Netflix was gonna take Banana Fish, and by rumbles,
- 2:42Speaker 1: I mean that literally Netflix and like an email or
- 2:46Speaker 1: I don't know what it was from, had put like, hey,
- 2:49Speaker 1: Banana Fish is gonna come to certain regions in the world,
- 2:53Speaker 1: but they didn't say what regions. So it's like it
- 2:56Speaker 1: would just be everyone's luck if it was like it's
- 2:58Speaker 1: coming to Japan. I actually don't know what Bananafish is
- 3:02Speaker 1: on in Japan, but that would be funny because I
- 3:06Speaker 1: know that you can stream Bananafish legally in Japan anyway,
- 3:09Speaker 1: So it was just like that. So then like a
- 3:13Speaker 1: week ago, there started being rumblings that there was going
- 3:15Speaker 1: to be a dub, which I assume you remember, but
- 3:19Speaker 1: in case you do not, because I did talk about
- 3:21Speaker 1: it on the podcast. Bananafish has never had an English dub,
- 3:26Speaker 1: which is weird, except for like two weeks or a
- 3:30Speaker 1: week and a half last year where it had an
- 3:33Speaker 1: AI dub that Amazon made because I guess they thought
- 3:38Speaker 1: that they could get away with it with Banana Fish
- 3:40Speaker 1: because maybe nobody cared enough and would actually say anything.
- 3:43Speaker 1: But everybody said something and they ended up having to
- 3:46Speaker 1: take it down. I actually wonder if that's one of
- 3:48Speaker 1: the reasons that they decided not to keep it, but
- 3:51Speaker 1: I don't know. But anyway, so it's never had a dub,
- 3:54Speaker 1: so the idea that it would suddenly have a dub
- 3:56Speaker 1: is a little weird. But it was like reported on
- 4:00Speaker 1: by like a kind of dub news source on Twitter,
- 4:04Speaker 1: and I don't know how reliable that shit is, but
- 4:05Speaker 1: people started getting really excited and I was like, I
- 4:08Speaker 1: guess it's possible, but like it'd be weird. And then
- 4:12Speaker 1: as of I guess yesterday or the day before. No,
- 4:16Speaker 1: it was yesterday, because it's exactly a month ahead of it,
- 4:19Speaker 1: Netflix like officially announced that they are taking Banana Fish.
- 4:24Speaker 1: It's gonna be coming to the US, Canada, I think,
- 4:26Speaker 1: like England, France, and I don't know, somewhere else, and
- 4:30Speaker 1: it's getting an English dub and a French dub, and
- 4:34Speaker 1: they even announced like who the some of the cast is.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Ash is gonna be played by Brandon mckinnis and Ag
- 4:42Speaker 1: is gonna be played by Jonathan Kanagaki. I don't really
- 4:46Speaker 1: know that much about current voice actors. I really haven't
- 4:49Speaker 1: watched dubs since I was like fourteen, and that's all
- 4:55Speaker 1: I could find. And it's definitely not my preferred way
- 4:59Speaker 1: to watch any sort of media that's not English. I
- 5:03Speaker 1: like to hear what the original audio is like. But
- 5:07Speaker 1: having a dub for any show does open it to
- 5:11Speaker 1: a wider audience because there are definitely folks who watch anime,
- 5:15Speaker 1: and maybe you are one of them. I don't know,
- 5:17Speaker 1: because I have no idea who you are that prefer
- 5:20Speaker 1: to watch it in their main language and not read subtitles.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And I will pretend to get that for you. So
- 5:29Speaker 1: the idea that this thing, after eight years is actually
- 5:33Speaker 1: gonna have a dub is kind of fucking amazing and awesome,
- 5:37Speaker 1: not that that doesn't mean the same thing as amazing.
- 5:40Speaker 1: So I'm actually really excited. And I originally said right
- 5:45Speaker 1: over here that I didn't know if I was gonna
- 5:46Speaker 1: watch it, but I'm popping back in a couple days later,
- 5:51Speaker 1: because I recorded this early enough for me to do
- 5:53Speaker 1: that to say, I'm probably going to watch it at
- 5:57Speaker 1: least for a bid to get the feel of it.
- 6:00Speaker 1: It Basically yesterday, Brandon mckinnis, who I told you was
- 6:05Speaker 1: gonna be the voice of Ash just a couple of
- 6:07Speaker 1: minutes ago, posted a little video on Twitter about his role,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and it made me think, oh, maybe this will be
- 6:15Speaker 1: okay because it sounds like he's really fucking into it.
- 6:19Speaker 1: It was only like a minute long, but he said
- 6:21Speaker 1: stuff like this is the first time ever that he's
- 6:23Speaker 1: used every acting technique that he knows of because it's
- 6:26Speaker 1: just that important to him, and also like he's been
- 6:28Speaker 1: journaling as Ash, and then he thanks yuma Uchiitah for
- 6:32Speaker 1: doing such a good job with the you know, original
- 6:35Speaker 1: Japanese version of Ash. So like, okay, let's see what
- 6:40Speaker 1: you can do, dude. It would be you know, pretty
- 6:43Speaker 1: awesome if this was good, So we'll see. I would
- 6:46Speaker 1: also just like love it so much if we could
- 6:51Speaker 1: do like actual accurate voices here. And I mean most
- 6:55Speaker 1: of the casts should have New York accents. They just
- 6:58Speaker 1: should probably shouldn't. He should probably sound like he's from Massachusetts,
- 7:03Speaker 1: but a little bit in New York. I don't think
- 7:05Speaker 1: that's really gonna happen, but if that happened, I would
- 7:09Speaker 1: be so excited. You don't even know how excited I
- 7:13Speaker 1: would be. But anyway, regardless of how much I care
- 7:18Speaker 1: and the quality of the dub, I think it's a
- 7:20Speaker 1: good thing. So I'm really excited. And the one thing
- 7:23Speaker 1: that I didn't mention is this all happens coming to
- 7:27Speaker 1: Netflix on August twelfth. Now, either that means something to
- 7:31Speaker 1: you or it doesn't. Right, if it does, I'm sorry
- 7:35Speaker 1: that we both were like yay, But August twelfth is
- 7:40Speaker 1: Ash's birthday. Like, I don't know if it's just a
- 7:42Speaker 1: really weird coincidence or someone in Netflix really cares, But
- 7:47Speaker 1: either way, it's gonna be an exciting It's gonna be
- 7:51Speaker 1: an exciting Ash birthday. This year. I won't be on
- 7:56Speaker 1: the air because I am gonna take the rest of
- 7:58Speaker 1: the summer season off because I'm so overwhelmed with everything
- 8:04Speaker 1: and I'm not even sure what I'm doing next. So
- 8:07Speaker 1: I will see you back in the fall after this episode.
- 8:10Speaker 1: But yeah, I just wanted to put that out there
- 8:11Speaker 1: and explain what's going on with banana fos in case
- 8:13Speaker 1: you ge or if you don't care, good for you.
- 8:17Speaker 1: But I talked way way too much about this. Oh.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Also with new shows this season summer season, I told
- 8:25Speaker 1: you that I watched the first two episodes of Ja Dugar.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think last week I watched the third episode and
- 8:31Speaker 1: it was also really good. I'm really excited about it. Also,
- 8:36Speaker 1: I'm trying to catch up on things that are actually
- 8:37Speaker 1: coming out that i'd forgotten about. The Ghost and the
- 8:41Speaker 1: Shell anime has started, which you might be like, Oh,
- 8:45Speaker 1: they're doing an anime like a series of the movie
- 8:49Speaker 1: anime sort of, this one is actually gonna be like
- 8:55Speaker 1: the manga because the movie was not I mean in
- 8:59Speaker 1: the sense that the movie was very serious and the
- 9:01Speaker 1: manga is not serious all the time. And also it
- 9:05Speaker 1: seems to be holding closer to the manga character designs.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So seeing the first episode of that, I really liked
- 9:12Speaker 1: it and I'm really hoping I will continue to like it. Yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and then, because everybody was like, really really excited about
- 9:20Speaker 1: it for some reason, I watched the first episode of
- 9:23Speaker 1: Chainsmoker Cat And if you like that, more power to you.
- 9:27Speaker 1: But fuck, yeah, I don't need to watch someone just
- 9:31Speaker 1: destroy their life and be totally unlikable. But if you
- 9:35Speaker 1: like comedy about people smoking and throwing up and shitting
- 9:40Speaker 1: and like, I don't know, other things and just like
- 9:45Speaker 1: being no good pieces of shit and not holding down
- 9:48Speaker 1: a job and living in a really shitty apartment that's
- 9:51Speaker 1: like covered in ash because they don't clean, this is
- 9:54Speaker 1: your show. I guess. Like the art and the animation
- 9:59Speaker 1: quality was pretty good, but I know that's okay, but
- 10:04Speaker 1: there's nothing wrong with it. It's just not my taste. Okay, Now,
- 10:09Speaker 1: God damn it, let's just talk about serial experiments Lane. Anyway,
- 10:14Speaker 1: Episode thirteen is called Ego, which I guess is fine
- 10:18Speaker 1: as a title. If you remember from last week, everything
- 10:23Speaker 1: was a disaster. God got squished by lots and lots
- 10:26Speaker 1: of computer things, and Lane and Alice were there, and
- 10:32Speaker 1: Alice was freaking out because yeah, I mean, this is
- 10:35Speaker 1: a big deal. So we kind of start there, but
- 10:37Speaker 1: we got to do other things first. Now, the new
- 10:42Speaker 1: version that I was watching that I found had this
- 10:45Speaker 1: beginning in a different order than the original version that
- 10:48Speaker 1: I was watching, so I don't actually know which way
- 10:50Speaker 1: it's supposed to be, So I'm just gonna give you
- 10:52Speaker 1: the order from the original version that I was watching,
- 10:55Speaker 1: so it's consistent, but I don't really know. This was weird. Anyway.
- 11:01Speaker 1: We start with you know, normal stuff and present day,
- 11:06Speaker 1: present time. There you go. That's probably as good as
- 11:10Speaker 1: I can do, I hope so at least, And then
- 11:13Speaker 1: I go to the opening theme. Yeah, anyway, from there,
- 11:17Speaker 1: we don't do the normal stuff. We go to a
- 11:19Speaker 1: blue staticky screen and Lane's face like really close up
- 11:24Speaker 1: kind of tunes in and she closes her eyes and
- 11:27Speaker 1: then looks away and says something that we can't hear,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and then maybe size and then we hear her say,
- 11:35Speaker 1: I'm confused again? Am I here or am I there
- 11:40Speaker 1: over there? I'm everywhere? I know that I'm connected there
- 11:44Speaker 1: after all right, but where's the real me? Oh right,
- 11:49Speaker 1: she looks down. There is no real me. I only
- 11:54Speaker 1: exist inside of those people who are aware of my existence.
- 11:57Speaker 1: But this meat that's talking right now, it's me, isn't it?
- 12:01Speaker 1: This myth? It's talking this me. We're like pulling in
- 12:06Speaker 1: really tight on Lane's face, and the background static starts
- 12:09Speaker 1: to get like really really loud. Whuiz it. The screen
- 12:14Speaker 1: blips out. Let me go to black. Now we go
- 12:17Speaker 1: to the title card and as it's like coming in
- 12:19Speaker 1: the way it always does. All the other episode titles
- 12:21Speaker 1: are kind of coming on the screen and like fading
- 12:23Speaker 1: out Ego Layer thirteen, but the guy says ego, which
- 12:29Speaker 1: I thought was funny. Now we kind of go back
- 12:32Speaker 1: a little bit to like a recap with some different animation,
- 12:35Speaker 1: and we see God's hand like materializing out of like
- 12:38Speaker 1: meat chunks as he screams. I would scream too, And
- 12:42Speaker 1: when we see him like coming together again and like
- 12:45Speaker 1: lifting them. But like the animation now doesn't look like
- 12:49Speaker 1: it's its tongue. Maybe it looks like an arm or something.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I really don't know. Kind of bothers me that it's inconsistent,
- 12:54Speaker 1: but hey, I'm gonna go with that it was the
- 12:56Speaker 1: tongue because that's what I saw last episode. And then
- 13:00Speaker 1: we see like all that stuff like crushing him and
- 13:02Speaker 1: Lane saying a body doesn't mean anything to you. Right
- 13:05Speaker 1: this time, there's significantly more focus on Alice screaming, but
- 13:10Speaker 1: like without actually animating it, just like with her mouth
- 13:12Speaker 1: open and she's like, uhh, you know how people scream,
- 13:15Speaker 1: And Laane is like sweating and she's like Alice. We
- 13:18Speaker 1: get a close up of Alice's eyes and they're like
- 13:21Speaker 1: really wide and bloodshot because this is not a fun day.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And then that like silence after God's been crushed. Laine
- 13:28Speaker 1: is holding Alice by her wrists as Alice just stares
- 13:33Speaker 1: and for like a minute there, Alice is just kind
- 13:35Speaker 1: of silent, and then she starts like thrashing around, like
- 13:38Speaker 1: trying to get Lane off of her and like screaming.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Lane obviously lets her go, and Alice like smacks her
- 13:45Speaker 1: across the face and I guess cuts her cheek with
- 13:48Speaker 1: her nail accidentally, and she's like no. She kind of
- 13:53Speaker 1: like cowers, and Laane looks like she's gonna cry, and
- 13:57Speaker 1: her cheek starts to bleed, and we get it close
- 14:00Speaker 1: up of Alice's really horrified expression as she screams some
- 14:04Speaker 1: more and breathes like really hard and this is like
- 14:07Speaker 1: too much. This goes on for too long. We see
- 14:11Speaker 1: Lane like really close up, just her eyes looking really worried,
- 14:14Speaker 1: and she says, I mess up everything I try to
- 14:17Speaker 1: do for you, huh, Alice, Honestly, I she just kind
- 14:21Speaker 1: of like hugs Alice, and Alice just kind of goes limp.
- 14:25Speaker 1: She's just staring up at the ceiling. Looking horrified, Lane
- 14:29Speaker 1: just cries into Alice's chest and she's like, Alice, Alice.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Alice just stands there taking really shaky breaths, and it's
- 14:40Speaker 1: quiet for a little while. Lane says, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Alice,
- 14:46Speaker 1: I'm sorry. We fade to white. We get a blue
- 14:50Speaker 1: screen now and words kind of type out onto it
- 14:53Speaker 1: in English, let's say all resets, and then below it
- 14:58Speaker 1: the word return appear. No no, no no no return
- 15:03Speaker 1: looks like it's being pressed. I mean, we don't see
- 15:06Speaker 1: like a curse or anything, but it changes color slightly.
- 15:08Speaker 1: This is probably not good. And we see like a
- 15:12Speaker 1: bunch of images like still images from the show, and
- 15:15Speaker 1: they all kind of like turn to static, and then
- 15:17Speaker 1: it goes white. We cut to black wires humming on
- 15:20Speaker 1: a white sky, and we fade to white, and then
- 15:24Speaker 1: we see red blotchy shadows of telephone poles and wires
- 15:28Speaker 1: and like a tree on white like a super overexposed ground,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I guess, And then we cut to lanes overexposed neighborhood
- 15:35Speaker 1: street wires on a white sky. Again. Panning down, we
- 15:39Speaker 1: see lanes overexposed front porch like we did in episode one,
- 15:45Speaker 1: and the door opens, we cut to food on a table.
- 15:49Speaker 1: There's like a setting with like apples, lettuce, two croissants,
- 15:55Speaker 1: and a sunny set of egg and then we pan
- 15:57Speaker 1: to a different place setting with tea like a legg
- 16:01Speaker 1: and a bowl thing cucumbers or pickles, I don't know,
- 16:04Speaker 1: and rice. We see a glass of milk get set
- 16:07Speaker 1: onto the table and we see who I'm pretty sure
- 16:10Speaker 1: is Mika stand. We're like only seeing her hands like
- 16:12Speaker 1: push off against the table and she says, I'm done.
- 16:16Speaker 1: She didn't eat anything, by the way, and she's the
- 16:18Speaker 1: one who had like the croissants and shit, so that sucks.
- 16:22Speaker 1: We go to a strip of seaweed that's like on
- 16:25Speaker 1: a bowl of rice, and we hear the dad say, hey,
- 16:29Speaker 1: you didn't clean your plate. I mean she didn't need anything, dude.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Chopsticks come into the scene and pick up the seaweed
- 16:36Speaker 1: and some rice, and then we go to a bowl
- 16:38Speaker 1: of what I assume is miso soup. It's some sort
- 16:40Speaker 1: of soup. It like gets set down on the table
- 16:44Speaker 1: and we hear the mom say she says she's on
- 16:46Speaker 1: a diet. So just to clarify, we're not seeing any
- 16:50Speaker 1: of them, we're just seeing food because I think, you
- 16:53Speaker 1: know why we go to a bottle of soy sauce.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I think that's what this is, but I could be wrong, honestly.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And then we cut to the mom's mouth as she's
- 17:02Speaker 1: eating some rice. Let me go to a bowl of
- 17:04Speaker 1: Nato yay being set down on the table, and the
- 17:08Speaker 1: dad says, oh, I might get a package today. It's
- 17:11Speaker 1: cash on delivery if it comes, pay for it. Okay,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I don't really understand cash on delivery, but I guess
- 17:17Speaker 1: it was a different time. The mom says computer parts. Again.
- 17:21Speaker 1: It's interesting how they're having a conversation, which is not
- 17:23Speaker 1: something we normally see. We finally get an actual shot
- 17:26Speaker 1: of the table. You know, it's their normal table. The
- 17:29Speaker 1: mom and dad are seated there alone. I mean, of
- 17:33Speaker 1: course next to them is Mika's plates, but Lane isn't there,
- 17:37Speaker 1: and there's no place setting for Lane, which is what
- 17:40Speaker 1: I was afraid of when we were focusing on the
- 17:42Speaker 1: food so hard. Anyway, they eat quietly for a bit
- 17:45Speaker 1: and then Dad kind of I think, looks at the
- 17:48Speaker 1: empty chair and he says, hey. The mom looks up. Yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Now we can see the dad is like clearly staring
- 17:56Speaker 1: at the empty chair, and he's quiet for a second
- 17:59Speaker 1: and then he's like, no, it's nothing. We go back
- 18:02Speaker 1: to the front porch with the door still hanging open.
- 18:05Speaker 1: We see the street again with the humming power lines,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and we're like panning up, and then we cut to
- 18:11Speaker 1: the train interior, like looking at the doors as it
- 18:16Speaker 1: all kind of like vibrates as the train moves. We
- 18:19Speaker 1: see the power cables passing by the window. We cut
- 18:22Speaker 1: to like an actual better shot of the interior of
- 18:24Speaker 1: the train. It's like the same one that we had
- 18:28Speaker 1: from episode one where Lane was standing at the doors
- 18:31Speaker 1: and then she told everyone to be quiet, except there's
- 18:34Speaker 1: no Lane. We see the exterior of the train like
- 18:37Speaker 1: going by some power lines, and then the music comes in.
- 18:41Speaker 1: And this is when I noticed that there actually hadn't
- 18:43Speaker 1: been any music until right now, which I thought was
- 18:46Speaker 1: like a really good decision. Anyway, things are going on
- 18:49Speaker 1: as normal. Kids are walking to school and walking through
- 18:51Speaker 1: the school gate. We see legs of someone as they
- 18:54Speaker 1: stop walking, and it's Alice. She looks up and we
- 18:58Speaker 1: hear Judy say Alice. Alice looks behind her and Judy
- 19:02Speaker 1: and Raka walk up and Judy like puts her arms
- 19:05Speaker 1: around Alice's arm, and Raka says, Alice, we're going out tonight, right.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Judy like pulls on Alice's arm and she's like, Siberia, Siberia.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You guys are in middle school. Stop going to clubs.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Alice is like, oh sure, why not. She takes out
- 19:20Speaker 1: her phone and she's like, I better mail her. Then
- 19:23Speaker 1: Judy looks back at Raka and they both look kind
- 19:25Speaker 1: of confused, and Judy says, Alice mail who. Alice looks
- 19:31Speaker 1: up and she's like hmm. She looks back down in
- 19:33Speaker 1: her phone. She's on like the mail service screen that
- 19:35Speaker 1: says like MAILMANU receive send and it says to Alice
- 19:39Speaker 1: at the bottom, So, yes, her name is Alice Alice,
- 19:43Speaker 1: not adi Su Alice. Anyway, she just stares at the
- 19:46Speaker 1: screen and Judy says, oh, don't tell me you want
- 19:50Speaker 1: her to come again? Layne Right, She's okay. Judy looks
- 19:55Speaker 1: over at Raka concerned. Alice is like what her Jeddy points.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Alice looks over and she sees a girl walking further ahead.
- 20:04Speaker 1: It's not lame, It'schsa. What why aren't you dead, Chisa?
- 20:09Speaker 1: Alice says Chisa. Rake is like yeah, yourmota Chisa. Jerdy says,
- 20:16Speaker 1: you talked us into taking her to Siberia once. She
- 20:18Speaker 1: puts her hand on Alice's shoulder, but it's like she
- 20:20Speaker 1: didn't even care, Raca says, inviting hers pointless. Alice looks
- 20:25Speaker 1: at her phone. Oh, I get it. Judy and Rake
- 20:28Speaker 1: are both together side huh, Alice smiles, It's nothing. I
- 20:33Speaker 1: just thought of something weird. Rake is like something weird.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Alice continues, If you don't remember something, it never happened. No,
- 20:41Speaker 1: actually that's not how things work. But sure, Jerdy's like,
- 20:44Speaker 1: don't remember. Alice says, if you aren't remembered, you never existed.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I don't think so, Alice. But okay. Judy and Raka
- 20:53Speaker 1: look at each other like concerned again mm hmm, and
- 20:55Speaker 1: Raka says, who are you talking about? Alice is like,
- 21:00Speaker 1: like I said, no one. She starts to walk off
- 21:03Speaker 1: with like a little bit of a bounce in her stuff,
- 21:05Speaker 1: like she's kinna happy, and then says, come on, we
- 21:08Speaker 1: better get to it. Juddy's like, hey, Alice. She and
- 21:11Speaker 1: Raka start to walk off to catch up with her.
- 21:13Speaker 1: We cut two wires in front of an out of
- 21:15Speaker 1: focused background. The focus shifts and we see buildings and
- 21:19Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure like the school, and then we see
- 21:23Speaker 1: three hands doing rock paper scissors, and everybody goes go
- 21:28Speaker 1: and there are two paper hands and one rock and
- 21:31Speaker 1: we see that it as Toto and friends. They're outside somewhere,
- 21:34Speaker 1: which is not where we've seen them before. We usually
- 21:36Speaker 1: see them in the club, and Masayuki's like, man, I
- 21:40Speaker 1: gotta do it again. Mew mute waves and Tato starts
- 21:44Speaker 1: to walk away, and Masayuki's like, come on one more time.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Miumu's like, hurry up. They are crossing a street at
- 21:51Speaker 1: a crosswalk in like an area that has like a
- 21:53Speaker 1: lot of graffiti. Like normally we've seen either Lane's neighborhood,
- 21:58Speaker 1: which is just kind of stark and suburban, or we've
- 22:01Speaker 1: seen like downtown Tokyo. I don't know where this is.
- 22:04Speaker 1: This is a different area, so like it's a city,
- 22:07Speaker 1: but there's not a lot of people around or cars,
- 22:10Speaker 1: so they're like really casually walking across the street in
- 22:12Speaker 1: the crosswalk. Mumu's like, you're such a sucker. Tato's phone
- 22:17Speaker 1: starts to ring or make notification sound or something, and
- 22:20Speaker 1: he stops in the crosswalk and he gets it out
- 22:23Speaker 1: of his pockets, and Numu was kind of looking back
- 22:25Speaker 1: at Masayuki, so she just kind of bumps into him. Anyway,
- 22:29Speaker 1: Tato pulls out that thing that's like kind of looks
- 22:32Speaker 1: like a gun, but it's like a little screen computery
- 22:36Speaker 1: phone thing and super cool and kind of a shame
- 22:39Speaker 1: that it wasn't in the show before, but anyway, it's
- 22:41Speaker 1: got like a gun handle, and he pulls the trigger
- 22:44Speaker 1: and the screen pops out, which is really fucking cool.
- 22:47Speaker 1: And anyway, we see the screen, it says kids technology
- 22:50Speaker 1: on it and also like mail. Tato says, mail. Mumu's like,
- 22:56Speaker 1: what is it? She looks over his shoulder and on
- 23:00Speaker 1: the screen a staticy lane appears and then fades out
- 23:04Speaker 1: really quickly. Hmmm, and was like, who's that girl? Toto says,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I don't know. Masuki finally catches up. He's like carrying
- 23:13Speaker 1: a backpack that I guess is heavy, and I guess
- 23:15Speaker 1: that's what they rock paper scissored for. I'm not sure. Anyway,
- 23:19Speaker 1: Crossing their path going in the other direction is a
- 23:22Speaker 1: man being pulled by a very small girl. The man
- 23:25Speaker 1: stops and is like, hey, nice machine, looking at Tato's computer,
- 23:28Speaker 1: and Toto says, huh. He looks up. It is the
- 23:31Speaker 1: guy who killed himself at Siberia. Okay, he says, mine's
- 23:37Speaker 1: pretty tricked out too. The little girl is like, ohnee John,
- 23:40Speaker 1: hurry and like tugs on his arm. Come on, come on.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Mom's waiting. The guy's like okay, okay, bye, and they
- 23:48Speaker 1: walk away. Mimo starts to run and is like, let's go.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Masuki starts to follow and is like, wait, let's shoot
- 23:56Speaker 1: for it again. Toto looks down at his phone or
- 23:59Speaker 1: whatever it is, and then slowly starts to follow them.
- 24:02Speaker 1: A guy wearing like a purplesh suit with a briefcase
- 24:05Speaker 1: passes him. They're kind of like walking up an incline
- 24:09Speaker 1: and the guy we get a close upon him and
- 24:11Speaker 1: it's totally ady. Masami, Oh what he looks like a
- 24:16Speaker 1: normal person, but I know what his eyes look like.
- 24:18Speaker 1: That's gotta be him. He's looking down and his fist
- 24:21Speaker 1: is clenched and he's like mumbling to himself, and he's like,
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'll quit, I'll quit that dump the shit they make
- 24:27Speaker 1: me do, they all under reestimate me. He's a piece
- 24:30Speaker 1: of shit. But hey, Tata watches him pass and then
- 24:33Speaker 1: closes his phone and is like, oh well, he puts
- 24:36Speaker 1: it in his pocket and he runs to catch up
- 24:37Speaker 1: with his friends. Back to eighty, he continues, I'm gonna quit.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna quit. He stops and looks up at a
- 24:45Speaker 1: cherry picker, you know those things that help you get
- 24:47Speaker 1: up to utility polls and do work on them. And
- 24:50Speaker 1: there's two guys in it, and they're working on some
- 24:52Speaker 1: power lines, and one guy is a lot smaller than
- 24:55Speaker 1: the other guy. And then I was like, oh my god,
- 24:58Speaker 1: I think I know who this is, but I'm not
- 24:59Speaker 1: sure because they have hats, like hard hats and sunglasses on.
- 25:03Speaker 1: But it's gotta be them. Eighty stares at them, and yeah,
- 25:08Speaker 1: we get a closer shot, and I definitely see Carl
- 25:11Speaker 1: and the short guy that I still don't have a
- 25:13Speaker 1: name for. I'm happy they're alive, but that doesn't make
- 25:16Speaker 1: any sense. Eighty starts to walk again and continues, I'm
- 25:20Speaker 1: gonna quit. I'm gonna quit today for sure. We now
- 25:23Speaker 1: see lots of shots of power lines, and eventually we
- 25:27Speaker 1: fade out on the power lines to black, but the
- 25:30Speaker 1: hum continues. Characters type in on the black screen. They
- 25:35Speaker 1: say what isn't remembered, never happened. Memory is merely a record.
- 25:41Speaker 1: You just have to rewrite the record. I don't think
- 25:43Speaker 1: that's how that works. We hear Lane say, is that true? Yeah? Question?
- 25:49Speaker 1: Things cuts a blue static present day, present time what
- 25:57Speaker 1: we start to get the normal beginning shit, like the
- 26:00Speaker 1: blue screen with Lane, and then like the normal opening
- 26:04Speaker 1: stuff where there's like the green crosswalk and the red
- 26:06Speaker 1: crossing light. What's happening and like the lights of cars
- 26:09Speaker 1: and Lake City and people walking and the taxi and everything.
- 26:12Speaker 1: This is kind of concerning. And then we cut to
- 26:15Speaker 1: two street lights an empty city street that's kind of
- 26:19Speaker 1: like dull colors, like mostly black and gray, and there's
- 26:22Speaker 1: just a person all alone, kind of far up the street,
- 26:25Speaker 1: so we can't exactly tell who they are, but it's Lane.
- 26:29Speaker 1: We get a close up on her face and she
- 26:30Speaker 1: looks like she's gonna cry. She looks up and we
- 26:33Speaker 1: can see that she is just wearing her nightgown and
- 26:36Speaker 1: not any shoes. She suddenly falls to the ground, hugs
- 26:40Speaker 1: her knees and cries. We hear a voice say, why
- 26:43Speaker 1: are you crying because you deleted yourself from everyone's memory.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Isn't that what you wanted. We see the lower half
- 26:50Speaker 1: of a person wearing a teal dress, kind of like
- 26:53Speaker 1: fade into the scene. Lane's like yeah, but we pan
- 26:57Speaker 1: up and see that the other person is also Laye
- 26:59Speaker 1: who I'll call I guess Other Lane. Sure. Other Lane says,
- 27:04Speaker 1: no one is dying, no one's being hurt, and no
- 27:07Speaker 1: one hates you. Fuck. Lane looks up, still crying. Yeah,
- 27:12Speaker 1: but other Lane says, dead people's information isn't leaking out
- 27:16Speaker 1: of the wired anymore. Lane stares at her, kind of distraught.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Other Lane continues, so Lane doesn't need to be anywhere anymore. Fuck.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Her face glitches slightly. This is what you want it right?
- 27:30Speaker 1: Lane's like, you sound just like him. Other Lane says
- 27:34Speaker 1: him that man never existed. Now even if he does,
- 27:37Speaker 1: he's not gonna get any ideas about being a god.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Lane's like, I'm nowhere now. If I'm nowhere, who am I?
- 27:45Speaker 1: We're seeing like buildings around and stuff, and Lane continues,
- 27:49Speaker 1: where am I? We get a really kind of far
- 27:52Speaker 1: shot and we can see that there are a bunch
- 27:54Speaker 1: of buildings, but they're kind of under a dome, and
- 27:56Speaker 1: then there's just black around them, like the world doesn't exist.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Except for this one chunk of buildings. Other lane says,
- 28:04Speaker 1: you said it yourself. Lane's like, huh. Other lane continues,
- 28:09Speaker 1: the wired is in the upper layer of the real world.
- 28:11Speaker 1: That's what that man was mistaken about. A network is
- 28:14Speaker 1: a fuel to pass along information. Information doesn't stand still there.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Information functions by always being in motion. Lane's like, really,
- 28:22Speaker 1: he's kind of looking up. The place kind of has
- 28:25Speaker 1: more color. Now, another lane says, people's memories aren't just
- 28:29Speaker 1: personal or just one part of the history of humanity.
- 28:32Speaker 1: We see the connection of a train car to some
- 28:34Speaker 1: power cables. Other lane is standing in the train now,
- 28:37Speaker 1: and she continues, no, not even the shared unconscious Lane
- 28:41Speaker 1: is also there, standing across from the other lane. The
- 28:43Speaker 1: car is full with people. Other lane continues, do you
- 28:47Speaker 1: think that humans could create something that could store memory
- 28:49Speaker 1: that fast? I don't know. Lane looks out of the
- 28:53Speaker 1: window in the door and says, the wired was just
- 28:56Speaker 1: connected to something else. But where was it connected to?
- 29:00Speaker 1: Other lane smiles. We see her walking down the stairwell
- 29:02Speaker 1: in Siberia. Now she stops and looks up. I assume
- 29:05Speaker 1: a lane, but we don't see Lane and says, do
- 29:08Speaker 1: people really need to know that Uh yeah, Lane is
- 29:14Speaker 1: standing I'm like the landing above, looking over the railing.
- 29:18Speaker 1: She says. What. Other Lane continues, Look how far they've
- 29:22Speaker 1: come without knowing. They're now standing by the wall in Siberia.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Another Lane says, the human world creates in praise to
- 29:30Speaker 1: various gods, and humans just convinced themselves that this is
- 29:33Speaker 1: how the world is. We see JJ briefly, and then
- 29:37Speaker 1: that woman who is probably like a server from episode two,
- 29:40Speaker 1: putting money in her bra. Lane is just kind of
- 29:42Speaker 1: looking at the ground. She says, I don't like how
- 29:45Speaker 1: you're saying this. I mean me too. They're now in
- 29:48Speaker 1: Lane's classroom. I suppose it's filled with kids at desks,
- 29:51Speaker 1: all doing their work. Another Lane says, either way, it's
- 29:55Speaker 1: Lane that's saying it me. You get that, right? Wayne
- 29:59Speaker 1: is just st out the window. Other Lane continues, Oh right,
- 30:04Speaker 1: Lane was never a person, was she? She chuckles. What.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Lane continues to just stare out the window. Oh my god.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Other Lane is standing like at the front of the classroom.
- 30:16Speaker 1: The teacher's behind her writing on the board, and she
- 30:18Speaker 1: says Lane is omnipresent, existing everywhere. Lane watches quietly. Right,
- 30:24Speaker 1: Lane is God, Lane closes her eyes. No. She turns
- 30:29Speaker 1: to look at Other Lane. They're now in a crowded
- 30:31Speaker 1: alley at night. You're wrong. Other Lane's like, it'd be
- 30:36Speaker 1: so much easier if you became a god. I think
- 30:39Speaker 1: it'd be a lot easier than becoming a human. We
- 30:44Speaker 1: focus in on some woman in the alley laughing, and
- 30:47Speaker 1: now we're on the street in front of Lane's house.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Other Lane says, you wouldn't have to do anything, just
- 30:55Speaker 1: stand there and watch. No one would look down on Lane.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Lane looks terribly sad. Other Lane continues, no one would
- 31:06Speaker 1: hate Lane. Lane's like that's it's quiet for a second.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Other Lanes like, hey, Lane, let's start everything over again
- 31:15Speaker 1: from the beginning. I mean, you did go and reset
- 31:18Speaker 1: everything after all. Lane whips her head around and is
- 31:21Speaker 1: like stop it. There's silence. Other Lane looks shocked, and
- 31:26Speaker 1: then she starts to like stutter and vibrates. We cut
- 31:31Speaker 1: to Lane's concerned face as the sky starts to get dark,
- 31:34Speaker 1: I think, And then we hear water drop and we
- 31:37Speaker 1: see like ripples on a dark, purplish screen. Lane and
- 31:41Speaker 1: Other Lane are in just like a dark place now,
- 31:44Speaker 1: and Lane too just stutters and vibrates, just kind of frozen,
- 31:49Speaker 1: and then she fades out, but we still hear this
- 31:52Speaker 1: like weird glitchy computer sound that she was making. Lane
- 31:55Speaker 1: is just standing in I guess some water like alone.
- 31:59Speaker 1: You have a really big wide shot, and we hear
- 32:01Speaker 1: someone who I think of the other Lane, say then
- 32:04Speaker 1: what are you Lane? Lane falls to her knees and
- 32:07Speaker 1: puts her head in her hands and she says, I
- 32:11Speaker 1: I we fade to black? Where am I? Someone says,
- 32:18Speaker 1: come Lane. Laine looks up and there's a patch of
- 32:22Speaker 1: light on her face and it starts to get like
- 32:25Speaker 1: very bright. There's like this beam of light and we
- 32:28Speaker 1: pan up it and at the top is her dad
- 32:32Speaker 1: like looking down on her from like I guess a
- 32:34Speaker 1: hole in this world that's been created, and he's like giant,
- 32:38Speaker 1: it looks like, and he's smiling down at her. This
- 32:41Speaker 1: is very odd, and she says, Dad, you go to black.
- 32:46Speaker 1: We see something being lifted up and Lane pulls down
- 32:52Speaker 1: the hood from her bear onesie that was on her head.
- 32:56Speaker 1: She's sitting at a table like a sunset sky background.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Her dad is sitting across from her, and he says,
- 33:04Speaker 1: you don't need to wear that anymore? Lane, I really
- 33:06Speaker 1: like it. Why not? Lane gasps and sort of smiles,
- 33:11Speaker 1: and we see that they're just sitting at this table
- 33:14Speaker 1: that's like hovering in the sunset sky. And she says, dad,
- 33:19Speaker 1: do you know? Her dad's like what. Lane says, I
- 33:24Speaker 1: everyone I Her dad says, you love them? Oh, Lane gasps.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Her dad smiles kindly. Isn't that right? Oh okay, Now
- 33:38Speaker 1: I'm upset. Lane shakes her head and like just starts
- 33:41Speaker 1: to sub like and a massive amount of tears are
- 33:45Speaker 1: just running down her face and she's like trying to
- 33:47Speaker 1: wipe them away. Her dad's like, I'll make us some
- 33:51Speaker 1: tea next time. We're kind of pulling back now, he continues,
- 33:55Speaker 1: Hey with some adelines. Definitely, they're great. We start to
- 34:00Speaker 1: normal beginning shit again, what except the colors are different.
- 34:05Speaker 1: So we have that crosswalk with the people that's green usually,
- 34:08Speaker 1: but now it's like blurry and blue. And then the
- 34:11Speaker 1: crosswalk red light is now a green light. And then
- 34:14Speaker 1: we see like car lights, but they're yellowish green instead
- 34:17Speaker 1: of white city shots but instead of purple, they're in blue.
- 34:21Speaker 1: And we hear Lane say, so, memories aren't only of
- 34:24Speaker 1: the past, are they? They can be of right now
- 34:27Speaker 1: or even of Tomorrow feel like that's a suicidal tendency song.
- 34:31Speaker 1: We now see people walking down a street past like
- 34:34Speaker 1: a clothing store window, and there's a couple like we
- 34:38Speaker 1: can just kind of see like their bodies but not
- 34:41Speaker 1: their heads, and the guys like unbelievable. The girl's like, right,
- 34:47Speaker 1: but hold on a second. The guys like what we
- 34:51Speaker 1: see that? The girl is Alice. She has long hair now,
- 34:54Speaker 1: and she's like, fucking she's an adult. Oh great, awesome,
- 35:00Speaker 1: she says. I listened to what you had to say
- 35:03Speaker 1: very patiently, I might add, she smiles. I get to
- 35:06Speaker 1: pick the curtains for the bedroom, right, The guy smiles. Sure.
- 35:10Speaker 1: Before we go any further, I should probably say that
- 35:13Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure this guy is the teacher that Alice
- 35:15Speaker 1: had that crush on. Yeah, I was pretty sure when
- 35:19Speaker 1: I watched the episode, and then I just tried to
- 35:21Speaker 1: research it to make sure that I was right before
- 35:23Speaker 1: I said this, And yeah, I'm pretty sure it's him.
- 35:26Speaker 1: That's weird. I don't like that at all. I really
- 35:30Speaker 1: don't like that, guys, But okay, fine, she's with that
- 35:34Speaker 1: teacher now. Fine. Anyway, we see hands on a railing
- 35:42Speaker 1: and we kind of are looking down at Alice and
- 35:44Speaker 1: the teacher guy like walking from above, and the teacher
- 35:49Speaker 1: guy says, anything you say, Alice is like, okay, then
- 35:54Speaker 1: that's a good student. They both laughed because no, no, oh,
- 36:00Speaker 1: I don't like that at all. Getting back to it,
- 36:03Speaker 1: Alice suddenly stops and looks up at the pedestrian overpass
- 36:08Speaker 1: and someone is standing there at the railing, but it's
- 36:11Speaker 1: like really far away, so we don't really know who
- 36:13Speaker 1: it is exactly. I mean, I have an idea, but
- 36:15Speaker 1: still the guy is like, something wrong. Alice says no,
- 36:20Speaker 1: and we now see, of course that it's Lane staring
- 36:23Speaker 1: down at her. Looks like normal Lane, and Alice stares
- 36:27Speaker 1: at her for a bit and she says, sorry, can
- 36:30Speaker 1: you wait here for a second, and she just like
- 36:32Speaker 1: bolts off. The guy's like, hey, what are you. Alice
- 36:36Speaker 1: runs up the stairs and then stops at the top
- 36:38Speaker 1: and looks at Lane. Lane stares back at her. I
- 36:41Speaker 1: don't know what the expression is. It's like kind of
- 36:44Speaker 1: content a little. Alice smiles and walks over to her
- 36:48Speaker 1: and kind of leans down because Lane is much shorter
- 36:51Speaker 1: because she's a child, and says hello means like hello.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Alice says have we met before? We have? Right? Oh,
- 37:01Speaker 1: Laine just smiles. Alice is like, oh, did you go
- 37:05Speaker 1: to the school. I was a student teacher at Oh
- 37:08Speaker 1: she's a teacher now too. No, that can't be it.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Let me think. Blaine's like, please to meet you. Alice
- 37:17Speaker 1: says huh. Laane again says please to meet you. We
- 37:21Speaker 1: haven't met before. Alice is like, oh, well, please to
- 37:25Speaker 1: meet you then too. I'm Alice strange name. Huh. I'm
- 37:29Speaker 1: kind of embarrassed about it. What's yours? Lene is silent
- 37:33Speaker 1: for a second, and then she says Laane. Alice stands
- 37:36Speaker 1: up Lane. She looks up and then kind of over
- 37:39Speaker 1: and says, hmmm. Now her boyfriend, teacher guy is behind her,
- 37:43Speaker 1: and he's like a friend of yours. Alice turns to him. No,
- 37:47Speaker 1: I thought she was someone else. She turns back to
- 37:50Speaker 1: Lane and bends down again. Well, goodbye, Lane, Maybe we'll
- 37:53Speaker 1: run into each other again someday. Laine smiles. Alice waves bye,
- 37:59Speaker 1: teach your boyfriend guys like by Lane. They walk away.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Lane waves as well, and then looks over the railing
- 38:06Speaker 1: again at them and says, you're right. We can see
- 38:10Speaker 1: each other anytime. We pull back on the overpass for
- 38:14Speaker 1: like a long time, and then we go to blue
- 38:16Speaker 1: static and Lane fades in. She says, I'm here, so
- 38:21Speaker 1: I'll be with you forever. The screen cuts out like
- 38:24Speaker 1: an old TVA and I don't know why it didn't
- 38:26Speaker 1: end here, but it doesn't. We go to a shot
- 38:29Speaker 1: from kind of the normal beginning shit, kind of looking
- 38:31Speaker 1: up at that building with the dark clouds in the background.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I'm kind of pin in on it. We fade black,
- 38:38Speaker 1: and then we go to the ending theme and that's it. Yay.
- 38:44Speaker 1: So closing thoughts, I think this is one of those
- 38:48Speaker 1: times where I have to just go like, I'm not
- 38:49Speaker 1: smart enough to understand what this is trying to convey. Sorry, guys,
- 38:53Speaker 1: that's it wrapped up. Have a good life, like give up. No,
- 38:58Speaker 1: but really a super weird of Alice end up with
- 39:03Speaker 1: the teacher B I fucking hate this for Lane, you know.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Fuck So. I have a lot of things to say
- 39:10Speaker 1: about this actually. First of all, like I was just
- 39:13Speaker 1: about to say before I cut myself off, she never
- 39:16Speaker 1: asked to be born like this. She never asked to
- 39:19Speaker 1: have consciousness. She was just the Internet or the wired
- 39:22Speaker 1: or whatever. And it sucks that it was given to her,
- 39:25Speaker 1: and then she has to spend the rest of eternity
- 39:28Speaker 1: not interacting with people and only watching them as the Internet.
- 39:32Speaker 1: It sucks, I mean, super like righteous of her to
- 39:37Speaker 1: realize that she can't be in the world and she's
- 39:41Speaker 1: kind of fucking things up if she is interacting outside
- 39:44Speaker 1: of the Internet. It's too much. It's going to destroy
- 39:47Speaker 1: the world, I suppose. But it fucking sucks. It like sucks,
- 39:54Speaker 1: And it sucks that Alice forgot her because I assume
- 39:58Speaker 1: this was a time skip from the life fast time
- 40:00Speaker 1: we saw Alice when she was at school. I'm sure
- 40:03Speaker 1: Alice only kind of remembered her after the reset anyway,
- 40:06Speaker 1: so after a while she just kind of forgot her.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I mean, there was a little bit left in there,
- 40:11Speaker 1: but it would never be the same, you know, especially
- 40:15Speaker 1: since Laine doesn't grow like humans grow because she's the Internet.
- 40:20Speaker 1: But it sucks. It really sucks. Also, Like I'm sure
- 40:25Speaker 1: there's been a lot of really interesting takes on the
- 40:28Speaker 1: message of Lane and all that bullshit, but honestly, I
- 40:31Speaker 1: have not read them. I decided not to, and I'm
- 40:34Speaker 1: just gonna tell you what I think and it will
- 40:36Speaker 1: absolutely be wrong, But that's the benefit of saying that
- 40:41Speaker 1: my show is me explaining anime poorly. I guess I'm
- 40:45Speaker 1: really really supposed to be wrong. But anyway, I was
- 40:48Speaker 1: just thinking after I finished watching this the day before,
- 40:51Speaker 1: yesterday or whenever, that was like, does this mean that
- 40:55Speaker 1: we should be kind to the Internet? Because the Internet
- 40:58Speaker 1: is like our friend, always watching us, but can't ever
- 41:01Speaker 1: really interact, Like we can interact with information on the
- 41:04Speaker 1: Internet and people on the Internet, but actual Internet. How
- 41:07Speaker 1: you ever asked how are you doing today? Internet? Because
- 41:10Speaker 1: I don't. I mean, I'll talk to my computer and
- 41:13Speaker 1: be like, hey, you know, good job starting up because
- 41:16Speaker 1: it looked scary for a second. But I never say, hey, Internet,
- 41:19Speaker 1: how are you feeling today? Thanks for loading so quickly.
- 41:23Speaker 1: So maybe we need to treat the Internet with more respect.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I guess that's a weird No, I mean, that can't
- 41:30Speaker 1: be the takeaway. I don't know. I mean, I think
- 41:33Speaker 1: part of what I'm getting from from this is, yeah,
- 41:37Speaker 1: the Internet is an extension of the real world. It's
- 41:39Speaker 1: not something greater than the real world. It's just a
- 41:42Speaker 1: part of it. It's not supposed to be on the
- 41:45Speaker 1: same level, really, and it's definitely not better than it.
- 41:49Speaker 1: And it's definitely not our god, and I'm pretty sure
- 41:53Speaker 1: there isn't a god according to this, which is fine
- 41:57Speaker 1: because Lane's not a god, but also if we want
- 42:01Speaker 1: to get more into it, one of my least favorite
- 42:04Speaker 1: tropes is resetting the timeline. I hate it terribly, especially
- 42:10Speaker 1: if it hasn't been established in earlier episodes that that's possible.
- 42:14Speaker 1: And while this kind of has sort of except that
- 42:17Speaker 1: it doesn't make any sense because there was at one
- 42:20Speaker 1: time where she made everybody forget things, but then they
- 42:22Speaker 1: remembered her, but then it wasn't really her, but then
- 42:26Speaker 1: in later episodes it was like that really hadn't happened,
- 42:30Speaker 1: but maybe it wasn't in order, but I'm confused, but
- 42:33Speaker 1: at least we mentioned it. I think my problem here
- 42:36Speaker 1: is with that first reset, like all that happened is
- 42:39Speaker 1: like everybody just forgot you know, that there were rumors
- 42:42Speaker 1: about Alice, which makes perfect sense, I mean as much
- 42:45Speaker 1: sense as this could make because since the wired was
- 42:49Speaker 1: so connected with the real world because of the Worth
- 42:51Speaker 1: residence frequency and like whatever, Lane was able to manipulate
- 42:55Speaker 1: memories to make everybody just forget that happened, which to
- 42:59Speaker 1: me seems within the realm of possibility. The next reset
- 43:03Speaker 1: where she just flipped herself out of existence makes a
- 43:08Speaker 1: lot lessense because yeah, everybody forgot her and sure, but okay,
- 43:14Speaker 1: but then what about everything else that happened, Like how
- 43:17Speaker 1: did Aidie Masami just come back to life? What about Sheisa?
- 43:22Speaker 1: How did she come back to life? Like I didn't
- 43:24Speaker 1: get the impression that she could like rewind time and
- 43:29Speaker 1: save people, but apparently she could, Like it doesn't quite
- 43:34Speaker 1: make sense. I would have totally bought it if it
- 43:37Speaker 1: was just like everything's the same, except like no one
- 43:39Speaker 1: remembers laying except that I guess that would be hard
- 43:42Speaker 1: because a bunch of people had died, like Carl died
- 43:46Speaker 1: and stuff, and that was sad and the world was
- 43:48Speaker 1: like destroyed. So maybe it wouldn't have been possible to
- 43:52Speaker 1: do a reset like that. But I just don't. I
- 43:55Speaker 1: don't think you can just kind of go back and
- 43:58Speaker 1: fix things and be like, cause it's like it was
- 44:00Speaker 1: all different points. It's like if Ady Musmy was like
- 44:05Speaker 1: still alive, had he even created Lane yet, Like how
- 44:09Speaker 1: would she exist? Like, I just don't. I don't think
- 44:12Speaker 1: this makes sense honestly, And maybe it's not supposed to
- 44:16Speaker 1: make full sense. But I like when things make sense
- 44:19Speaker 1: and I can go like, Okay, I understand how that
- 44:22Speaker 1: was set up and why that would work within the
- 44:24Speaker 1: parameters of this show in this world. And unfortunately, in
- 44:28Speaker 1: this case, this whole episode didn't make sense to me
- 44:32Speaker 1: because it was like the entire timeline was just totally
- 44:38Speaker 1: altered instead of just people's memories being changed. So that's
- 44:43Speaker 1: a little unfortunate. I thought the ending was good. I
- 44:46Speaker 1: really liked the part with her dad and just kind
- 44:49Speaker 1: of her coming to terms with the fact that she's
- 44:51Speaker 1: not a person and that she can't live like a person,
- 44:55Speaker 1: but also that she's not God and she doesn't want
- 44:58Speaker 1: to be God and she isn't gonna just constantly toy
- 45:02Speaker 1: with this timeline. I think she really managed to grow
- 45:06Speaker 1: up and become a really good wired that really wants
- 45:11Speaker 1: to protect people and just watch them and not try
- 45:13Speaker 1: to integrate with them and fuck everything up. Yeah, I
- 45:16Speaker 1: don't know. So after finishing watching this again, to be fair,
- 45:21Speaker 1: like it didn't really make me feel the things that
- 45:23Speaker 1: made me feel last time I watched it. The last
- 45:26Speaker 1: time I watched and the other time before this I
- 45:28Speaker 1: watched the last episode, I cried when she saw Alice
- 45:33Speaker 1: and then Alice left and she's like, you know, yeah,
- 45:35Speaker 1: we can see each other anytime. I didn't cry this time.
- 45:38Speaker 1: I didn't even get close to crying. Just feel bad overall,
- 45:41Speaker 1: but not in a way that I could cry about it.
- 45:43Speaker 1: It's just it sucks to be lame. But I guess
- 45:47Speaker 1: at least the world isn't like destroyed, and that's good.
- 45:53Speaker 1: But yeah, I have a big issue where it's like
- 45:55Speaker 1: things got really bad, so why don't we just make
- 45:57Speaker 1: it so it wasn't bad. That's how I feel about
- 46:00Speaker 1: Chainsaw Man. And I'm not as upset about this as
- 46:02Speaker 1: I am about Chainsawman by any means, because some of
- 46:05Speaker 1: this stuff was established. Sorry, I'm like really upset about
- 46:09Speaker 1: chainsaw Man still anyway. Yeah, I like when problems can
- 46:13Speaker 1: be solved when we go like, okay, these things happen,
- 46:16Speaker 1: like how do we fix them in a real way
- 46:20Speaker 1: that is appropriate for this world. So I don't like
- 46:23Speaker 1: when things are just kind of like we just fixed
- 46:26Speaker 1: it from magic that wasn't established that we could do
- 46:29Speaker 1: that before. And I mean, I'm sure you're listening to
- 46:32Speaker 1: this and you're going, Michelle, there are so many deep
- 46:34Speaker 1: ideas and thoughts from Lane, and you're not even touching
- 46:37Speaker 1: on all of these things. But the truth is, I
- 46:40Speaker 1: don't know what those things are actually, you know what,
- 46:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna cut back in because I do have some
- 46:44Speaker 1: other thoughts, because I've been thinking about this for a
- 46:47Speaker 1: couple of days now, and there are a lot of
- 46:50Speaker 1: like plot threads that didn't get resolved or really go anywhere,
- 46:54Speaker 1: and I just kind of wanted to mention them, Like
- 46:56Speaker 1: we never learned who the hell brought Lane to live
- 47:00Speaker 1: with the iwakaas, we never did anything more with a
- 47:04Speaker 1: sella that drug that I still don't know how that
- 47:06Speaker 1: would work, the whole Kid's experiment thing, and sky Lane
- 47:11Speaker 1: was only one episode and that could have been cool
- 47:13Speaker 1: if Lane was just in the sky a lot sometimes.
- 47:17Speaker 1: And like we still don't know who actually wanted to
- 47:20Speaker 1: hurt Lane and why, because I mean, Carl and other
- 47:24Speaker 1: guy blamed it on the Knights, but weren't the Knights
- 47:27Speaker 1: like God's like devoted followers. And I don't think God
- 47:31Speaker 1: wanted to destroy Lane. But we don't really know that
- 47:35Speaker 1: much about the Knights. All we know is that they
- 47:37Speaker 1: got killed and they were doing stuff, but we don't
- 47:40Speaker 1: really know what stuff, and also are there aliens or
- 47:46Speaker 1: are they not aliens? I was also wondering if some
- 47:49Speaker 1: of this was metaphors for like growing up, which doesn't
- 47:52Speaker 1: seem like that works to me. But at the same time,
- 47:54Speaker 1: when she was like with her dad in the sky
- 47:57Speaker 1: and he was like, you don't have to wear that anymore,
- 48:00Speaker 1: I was like, what are we what are we talking
- 48:02Speaker 1: about here? I also thought that Laine as a character
- 48:06Speaker 1: was like pretty cool. I like that she pretty much
- 48:10Speaker 1: questioned everything that she was told, you know, by God
- 48:14Speaker 1: and you know, just in general. It was like anything
- 48:17Speaker 1: that was presented that sounded like it was supposed to
- 48:19Speaker 1: be a fact wasn't really a fact. And I really
- 48:23Speaker 1: liked that. I remember I said in the beginning, I
- 48:25Speaker 1: wasn't sure if what we were being told was like real,
- 48:29Speaker 1: like supposed to be like the reality of things, or
- 48:33Speaker 1: just someone's take on the reality. And it would be
- 48:36Speaker 1: resolved later in the show. And I really do think
- 48:39Speaker 1: most of the things that she was told that we heard,
- 48:41Speaker 1: you know, from God and throughout the episode from people,
- 48:44Speaker 1: are more just subjective opinions than anything. And I actually
- 48:48Speaker 1: really like that about this. However, I really think this
- 48:53Speaker 1: show wants to be deep. It does, and I think
- 48:56Speaker 1: that there's probably a lot that you can glean from it.
- 48:58Speaker 1: I don't know how much is really accurate to what
- 49:01Speaker 1: the creator wanted that you can glean from it, that is,
- 49:04Speaker 1: But this kind of falls to me in a category
- 49:07Speaker 1: of this was really trying very hard to be something,
- 49:09Speaker 1: and I'm not sure it delivered totally. But it's still good.
- 49:14Speaker 1: It's just I think I'm a little disappointed, and I
- 49:18Speaker 1: don't know if I was expecting that. So I don't know, man,
- 49:22Speaker 1: I don't know what's wrong with you listening to me
- 49:24Speaker 1: suck like this, But thanks for sticking in there, and
- 49:29Speaker 1: I hope that you got a lot out of this
- 49:31Speaker 1: and that you feel like you learn something about this
- 49:35Speaker 1: world that is helpful and mean something to you, because
- 49:39Speaker 1: I wish that I had, I think. But I think
- 49:44Speaker 1: that's really all I have to say. At least this
- 49:47Speaker 1: ended in a place. Sure, it's a place where Lane
- 49:50Speaker 1: will just always watch the real world from the Internet
- 49:55Speaker 1: or wired or whatever, and that is as close as
- 49:58Speaker 1: she can be. But it's good for everybody else, right, Yay, awesome? Great?
- 50:08Speaker 1: So yeah, that's really all I have to say. So,
- 50:13Speaker 1: like I said earlier, I'm gonna take the rest of
- 50:16Speaker 1: the summer season off so I can kind of collect
- 50:19Speaker 1: myself and figure out what I'm even going to cover
- 50:23Speaker 1: next season. There are a couple of ideas I have.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I'll just throw them at you right now, and I'll
- 50:28Speaker 1: decide during this break and i'll let you guys know.
- 50:31Speaker 1: But any way, I could do the new Vegiant Ray
- 50:33Speaker 1: Earth because I'm insane. I could do number six because
- 50:39Speaker 1: I've been thinking about it a lot. But if I did,
- 50:41Speaker 1: it would be like the first series that I'm going into,
- 50:44Speaker 1: going like, I have serious problems with it, but I
- 50:46Speaker 1: need to talk through my serious problems, So I could
- 50:50Speaker 1: do that. I could do Go and Login. I could
- 50:53Speaker 1: do I don't know. Those are probably the top three
- 50:57Speaker 1: right now. If you have an idea, or if you
- 50:59Speaker 1: were like, please do this one and don't do those
- 51:01Speaker 1: other two, please let me know. But that's really gonna
- 51:04Speaker 1: be it for me. I managed to finish this before
- 51:07Speaker 1: my dad got here. I'm so happy, so this will
- 51:11Speaker 1: be on time and I don't have to be super
- 51:13Speaker 1: stressed anymore sort of or whatever. And the trees getting
- 51:17Speaker 1: cut down tomorrow so I don't have to record this
- 51:19Speaker 1: with the chainsaws in the background. So yeah, anyway, I'm
- 51:23Speaker 1: gonna go finish cleaning up. And I hope you have
- 51:27Speaker 1: like a really good whatever and that includes summer and shit,
- 51:34Speaker 1: and I will see it soon. I will pop in
- 51:37Speaker 1: at least to tell you when I am starting, like
- 51:41Speaker 1: what week I'm starting the next anime and what it's
- 51:43Speaker 1: gonna be. But I also might just have a couple
- 51:46Speaker 1: of shows on random Thursdays during the next like two
- 51:49Speaker 1: months or so, because I might want to talk about
- 51:53Speaker 1: the Banana Fish Dub and I might also want to
- 51:56Speaker 1: talk about something else too, so be on the lookout
- 51:58Speaker 1: for that or don't whatever you want. Yeah, I hope
- 52:04Speaker 1: you don't hate me and you don't really hate this,
- 52:06Speaker 1: but if you do, I get it. You know, sometimes
- 52:12Speaker 1: I just suck, you know. Anyway, I am going to
- 52:16Speaker 1: go later. Weeps.
