- Sean Graver: Welcome back to Prayer Before Work. My name is Sean, and I'm glad you're here today. So you're six months into a new job that you really love and you posted something on LinkedIn you'd never posted before. You were excited, proud even. You mentioned a project name, but it turns out that it wasn't supposed to be public yet. Within hours, an email came from the public affairs team, copied five levels up the management chain, then a phone call and on your personal cell phone number. Someone you've never talked to before telling you to delete it. You complied, you apologized, and you've been feeling terrible ever since. Even though the mistake was honestly a small one. But the apostle Paul writes something in Colossians three twenty-three that's probably worth returning to in a situation like this. Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men. Now that verse is not about the mistake itself, right? It's about where you locate your worth after it. If your sense of being good at your job depends entirely on how five levels of management responded to one LinkedIn post, you'll never feel steady again. But if your work is ultimately for God first, then one overcorrected response from people who don't know you yet. Doesn't get the final word on who you are or how you're doing. I mean, you made an honest mistake out of genuine enthusiasm. And that's not the same thing as a carelessness or a bad character. You know, the people who responded to you probably weren't thinking about how it would land on someone six months into their new job. And that's on them, not entirely on you. But learn the lesson. Quietly double check what's public before you post the next time, and let the rest of it go. Don't let one rough week convince you to stop caring about your work. So let's pray. God, we made a mistake this week that came from excitement, not from carelessness, and it still stings. But help us learn what we need to learn from it without carrying shame that isn't ours to carry it. Remind us that our worth isn't decided by how people several levels above us or removed from us reacted to one moment. Restore our confidence and help us to keep bringing our whole hearts to our work, even after a hard week like this one. In Jesus name, amen. Now go make today count.
