The Woman in the Cellar: Belle Gunness and the La Porte Murder Farm
In April 1908, a farmhouse outside La Porte, Indiana, burned to the ground, and in the cellar searchers found three children beside the body of a woman with no head. Then the digging in the farmyard began, and at least thirteen sets of human remains came out of the ground. This is the story of Belle Gunness, the suitors who answered her letters, and the question no one has ever been able to settle: did she die in that fire?
