- 0:08There are rules to surviving a horror movie.
- 0:11Don't split up, don't investigate the noise, and never say, "I'll be right
- 0:17back." Here, three friends break down the scares, the kills, the monsters,
- 0:24and the terrible decisions that got everyone there in the first place.
- 0:28We rate the scares, we roast the victims, and we ask the important
- 0:33question, would we survive?
- 0:37So dim the lights, pour the drinks, and prepare for spoilers.
- 0:43This is The Scarier Things Club.
- 0:48Hi.
- 0:48Welcome back.
- 0:49This is The Scarier Things Club.
- 0:51We're really excited that you're here with us.
- 0:52Um, happy spooky season.
- 0:54I think this is, like, gonna come out, like, mid-September, which is crazy- Yeah
- 0:56… that it's, like, already September.
- 0:58Today we are talking about Session 9, which I really enjoyed.
- 1:04So, before we go too off the rails, so you're like, "What is this movie
- 1:08about?" This movie is about an asbestos removal company that takes
- 1:15on this massive job at this insanely spooky… It's, like, the Danvers
- 1:20Mental Health Hospital in Massachusetts.
- 1:24It's a job that at first they, quote, "Should take, like, three weeks,"
- 1:27and then they whittle it down to getting it done in one week, and
- 1:31they just slowly kinda go crazy.
- 1:36And it kinda goes into some mental illness and dissociative personality disorder.
- 1:42And so what I, watching this, was like, "What can I bring to the club today?"
- 1:47And then I thought, "Ah," it hit me.
- 1:50What is, or who is, if you have one, your alternate personality?
- 1:55What's their name?
- 1:56What's their shtick?
- 1:57When do they come out?
- 1:59Um, I'll start.
- 2:00Okay.
- 2:02Mine is Sharon.
- 2:06Sharon comes out when I'm driving, and she takes over, and she has bad road rage as
- 2:15to where, like, she will flip people off.
- 2:18Like, she uses very obvious hand gestures.
- 2:21She screams.
- 2:22She points.
- 2:24She tailgates.
- 2:25And she's gonna get Shannon in trouble someday.
- 2:30I would not have pictured there to be a Sharon inside- Oh, yeah … of your head.
- 2:36I've been followed before.
- 2:38What?
- 2:39After my road rage, yeah.
- 2:41And so after that, you'd think I would learn.
- 2:43But, uh, she just… I don't even have to think about it.
- 2:45She just takes over.
- 2:46And then I'm not responsible for what she does.
- 2:48So does Sharon do the dancing?
- 2:51What?
- 2:52The one time.
- 2:54The one time I saw was, I was driving through- Do you remember this?
- 2:57I was driving through Rogers.
- 3:00I look in my rear view mirror, and there is Shannon just dancing away-
- 3:05in her car behind me.
- 3:07That's hilarious.
- 3:08I feel like I… That must have been, I think that's when Fine Line, the album
- 3:13by Harry Styles, had, like, recently come out, and I… Well, actually, maybe
- 3:17it hadn't been out, or it had been out for a while, but I had discovered it
- 3:21because you had said something and, like, someone else, like within that same
- 3:25week, had said something about seeing me-
- 3:28dancing in the car.
- 3:29No, that's definitely me.
- 3:32Sharon is only, she's not a happy person.
- 3:35Okay.
- 3:35She's not pleasant.
- 3:38So do you know what I'm about to say?
- 3:40I have an idea.
- 3:42This is not the same thing at all.
- 3:45So, like, I see what you're saying, like an alternate
- 3:48personality or something like that.
- 3:49Mm-hmm.
- 3:50Like, 'cause I had a choir director all growing up that she, her name
- 3:53was Retha, and when it was, like, time for a program or if it was all
- 3:58region time and she'd be stressed out, and she would get snippy- Okay
- 4:01and that was her evil twin, Reesa.
- 4:03Reesa.
- 4:06And that was, and I so you have Shannon and Sharon-
- 4:11Mine is not The same.
- 4:15So- Okay … I we've talked kinda today just on our side notes about
- 4:20that I am somewhat of an introvert.
- 4:23Yeah.
- 4:23But, like, deep in my soul, there's still that, like, mascot waiting to get out.
- 4:31That, because that was such a freeing thing for me in high
- 4:33school, to be completely disguised.
- 4:37Everybody knew who I was, but I was, like, free.
- 4:40I could do whatever I wanted.
- 4:41I didn't care.
- 4:42I had no inhibitions.
- 4:45So then in adulthood, I no longer have, like, a big leopard suit to hide behind.
- 4:50And so I created this this personality for when I was helping with students or
- 4:58maybe a couple things at school sometimes.
- 5:00Uh-huh.
- 5:01And her name is Beverly Susan Sassafras.
- 5:04And she has a lisp and she talks real pretentiously.
- 5:09Her name is Beverly Susan Sassafras.
- 5:12And, and she has an album that came out called Shake That Sassafras, Volume One.
- 5:18I would just sing stuff real stupidly.
- 5:21And I would put on this big, like, over the top, I had, like, a big
- 5:26afro wig, and I would put, like…
- 5:29This one time I put Christmas tree ornaments in it.
- 5:32So wait, it's like- And then, like, Nicki Minaj pink lipstick.
- 5:35Gaudy jewelry.
- 5:37Everything, over the top.
- 5:38Where are these pictures?
- 5:39I'll find some.
- 5:40Oh, good.
- 5:40No, there's video.
- 5:41For you.
- 5:41Oh.
- 5:41There's video.
- 5:42Some- Oh my gosh.
- 5:42Yeah, there is a video.
- 5:43And so, like, sometimes, and that was just for the purpose of, like,
- 5:48being silly for the students- Yes
- 5:51usually.
- 5:52Or there was a performative aspect of it.
- 5:55But sometimes the voice just comes out.
- 6:01And, like, I've had to stop myself.
- 6:04It's almost like a, with intrusive thoughts.
- 6:06Yeah.
- 6:07Like, we'll be doing worship singers practice at church, and I've been on
- 6:11the mic at, on like a Sunday morning at practice- Oh, okay … and had to just
- 6:16be like, "Oh, you can't do that here."
- 6:18Yeah.
- 6:18No.
- 6:18We can't.
- 6:19Because it's real- Switch back down.
- 6:21I… Should I?
- 6:23Yes.
- 6:24Okay.
- 6:25Yes.
- 6:25So the, probably the, the thing that gets me most, I'll do, like, God
- 6:31Bless America, a little bit of it.
- 6:33Okay.
- 6:34So she goes something like, um, okay.
- 6:36God bless America, land that I love.
- 6:42Standing beside her and the guide, through the night with the light from above.
- 6:52Something, a little something like that.
- 6:57I had no idea that was gonna come out of you.
- 6:59Yeah.
- 6:59It's so- My goodness gracious … I will just, like, wanna do, like,
- 7:04weird noises like that, like ahh.
- 7:06It, like- Almost like Shakira a little bit.
- 7:08Yes.
- 7:08And- It'll just, like I wanna do it, but nobody gets it.
- 7:13Right.
- 7:13And I did it one time at choir.
- 7:15Oh, boy.
- 7:15In the whole choir, and I don't think… Like, Cassie was next to me.
- 7:18I don't think she heard it.
- 7:19Oh, sad.
- 7:20But the lady in front of me- Uh-huh … did hear it.
- 7:22Yep.
- 7:23And she turned around, looked at me all funny like, "How dare you be goofing
- 7:27around in choir?" This is serious.
- 7:29And I'm like, "Listen, Jessica, turn around."
- 7:32Yeah.
- 7:32"This is not your business." Yeah.
- 7:33I don't know what that lady's name is, but she need to, she need to chill out.
- 7:36But- Jessica's kidding … so that's what, and there's no purpose to it.
- 7:40It's not like she accomplishes anything for me.
- 7:43Like, like Sharon- Wow … is, you know, is like almost a
- 7:47protective thing for you, right?
- 7:49Oh, she gets me in trouble.
- 7:50So it's just like a she gets the, the darkest part of you gets to
- 7:52come out I guess for a minute.
- 7:55There's really no purpose to this thing, but sometimes it just, I think
- 7:58'cause I did it for some years, it just- So you just- … sometimes
- 8:03happens … created her?
- 8:05Yeah.
- 8:05You just, you said, "We're gonna do a little bit of this, a little bit of that"?
- 8:08Just like what's the most over the top thing I can think of?
- 8:11Oh, what was her name again?
- 8:13Beverly Susan Sassfrass.
- 8:14Beverly Susan- And 'cause she had a lisp, nas- naturally I had to
- 8:17put a bunch of S's in her name.
- 8:18Absolutely.
- 8:19You're so creative.
- 8:21What do your siblings think about this?
- 8:23Do they know?
- 8:23I'm sure they know.
- 8:24Uh, I don't know that I've ever, my, I don't know that I've ever
- 8:27done this in front of my brother.
- 8:28Oh.
- 8:29But my sister knows about it.
- 8:30Yeah.
- 8:31And- Does Ben listen to this?
- 8:33I doubt it.
- 8:34But- Lame … yeah.
- 8:35Loser.
- 8:35Loser.
- 8:36I can say whatever I want and he'll never hear it.
- 8:38Mm-mm.
- 8:38Yeah.
- 8:39So I mean, he probably would like laugh at it, but- I really am
- 8:44so thankful for the performance.
- 8:46That was wonderful.
- 8:47Well, I, I was like I have to demonstrate.
- 8:49There's gotta be a demo.
- 8:50I can't just say she sings badly 'cause you have to show, uh, I don't know.
- 8:55Okay, but like you sing so well.
- 8:59Like, you could be a singer, like professional, you know, if you wanted
- 9:03to, and still that wasn't terrible.
- 9:07Shannon.
- 9:07It wasn't bad.
- 9:09Okay.
- 9:09Don't play little games, Liz.
- 9:12That was really bad.
- 9:13Listen, I hear Alek sing all the time.
- 9:16Oh, it can't be that bad.
- 9:20He sings really loudly and he's really tone deaf.
- 9:24You'll, well, you'll have to skip choir someday- And- … and sit next
- 9:28to me- And sit in worship … worship.
- 9:29Okay.
- 9:29Yeah.
- 9:29Yeah, that was- That was incredible
- 9:30incredible.
- 9:31No, I just, really quick, so like I said, I, I have been followed once or
- 9:36a couple times because of my road rage.
- 9:38Yeah.
- 9:40And so I was here.
- 9:42I was just trying to go to Harps to get milk- … heaven forbid.
- 9:46And the exit to get off of 71, it looks like there's no
- 9:51paint to make it two lanes.
- 9:53The road itself probably is wide enough, but like as it goes up
- 9:58the hill, that's when it becomes like defined it's two lanes.
- 10:01Well, so I'm driving.
- 10:03This car behinds me, behind me like revs up and I'm thinking they're
- 10:08like gonna hit me, but they go to my side, which that made me mad
- 10:12because I'm thinking it's a one lane.
- 10:13Like- Mm-hmm … the heck are you doing?
- 10:14So I… This is all I did.
- 10:17Yeah.
- 10:18And I could see him in my rear view mirror starting to throw his hands
- 10:21up, and I'm yelling and I'm pointing-
- 10:25At him.
- 10:26Yeah.
- 10:26And he pulls up beside me and I could hear him yelling at me as he's pulling
- 10:30up, and he's got his window down.
- 10:32So what did I do?
- 10:33Yeah, girl.
- 10:34I rolled my window down.
- 10:36And I was like, "It's one lane, bro." And he was like, "F" bomb this, "F" bomb that.
- 10:43Yeah.
- 10:43And, um, he's like, "Do you want a problem?
- 10:45I'll give you a problem." And I said, "Have a nice day." And I sped.
- 10:50I, you know- What?
- 10:52… turned right and he was trying to turn left, and I'm thinking, "All right, I'm
- 10:57o-" Then Shannon took back over and I was like- Okay … "Whoa, that was a little
- 11:01crazy." And I, behind me I can see him.
- 11:04He was at the light turning left, but then he turns right and follows me.
- 11:09And I'm trying to turn into Harps, and he- You did not stop, did you?
- 11:14The car in front of me- But I mean like at the store.
- 11:17You wouldn't have stopped at the parking lot and- He drove off.
- 11:20Okay.
- 11:21He did drive off.
- 11:22Okay.
- 11:22But he stopped his car like in the lane next to me- Mm-hmm … that w- should be
- 11:26going to continue yelling at me, and- Oof
- 11:29I thought he was gonna follow me into the Harps, and I was like, "I
- 11:32don't know what I… I'm just gonna go." He wouldn't have gotten out.
- 11:34I don't think so.
- 11:36Hmm.
- 11:36No, I would've drove away.
- 11:37Yeah.
- 11:38But that moment made me realize- Yeah.
- 11:42We might have a problem here.
- 11:43Have you ever seen that movie, It's got Russell Crowe in it and he, like, it,
- 11:48the whole thing starts off this lady, he's at a red light and he doesn't go
- 11:53when it turns green or whatever, and she starts, like, honking hardcore.
- 11:56And she then, like, just zooms around him, and then they get
- 12:00stuck at the next red light.
- 12:02Oh.
- 12:03And he pulls up next to her and he's like, "Hey, hey," and
- 12:05he's trying to talk to her.
- 12:06And then she's, like, not being super nice to him or whatever.
- 12:10Mm-hmm.
- 12:10And he's like, "Well, if you'll just apologize, we can go about our day."
- 12:14And she's like, "No, I'm not gonna apologize," and her kid's in the
- 12:17backseat like, "Mom, just apologize.
- 12:19Just get it over with." And she's like, "No, I don't have anything to
- 12:21apologize," and he's like, "You don't know what a bad day is, but you're
- 12:25gonna find out." And then, like, he goes off the rails crazy man.
- 12:29Unhinged.
- 12:30So, like… Is that what it's called?
- 12:31Unhinged, yeah.
- 12:32Okay.
- 12:32That movie was pretty good.
- 12:33Does he kill her?
- 12:35You'll have to watch to find out.
- 12:37Oh.
- 12:39Maybe I should watch it as, like, a lesson.
- 12:41Maybe.
- 12:42No, and then do you remember, like, when that, there was, like, that
- 12:44shooting in front of Kennedy Coffee?
- 12:46Yes.
- 12:47Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 12:47Because remember the rage incident?
- 12:48I'm like, but the thing is is that it, I mean, it takes a split second.
- 12:53And then afterward I'm like, was that really that big of a deal?
- 12:57But in the moment, I just, I don't even know what comes over me.
- 13:03And one day it's gonna get me in trouble.
- 13:04I'm just really surprised that, like, you have the follow through
- 13:08to holler at somebody from the car.
- 13:11Like, I would not.
- 13:12Like, in, when the, when the windows are up, I could talk a big game, and
- 13:17we, I can act big and bad, but if it comes down to I gotta face to face with
- 13:21you, I don't think I could do that.
- 13:24Like, I got flipped off the other day on the way to work.
- 13:27Who would flip you off?
- 13:28Hardcore.
- 13:28This lady was big mad.
- 13:28Well, I did cut her off.
- 13:30Uh-oh.
- 13:30But I didn't see her.
- 13:31Okay.
- 13:32Like, I blame the technology because the light on my
- 13:34mirror- For sure … wasn't on.
- 13:35Exactly.
- 13:37And so for me, Mich- And she probably just sped up.
- 13:40No.
- 13:40She was there.
- 13:41She was probably going too fast.
- 13:42And I didn't see her- Yeah … until I got in behind the car that
- 13:45I could see in front of me.
- 13:46Mm-hmm.
- 13:46I just booped right over 'cause I needed to take the exit.
- 13:49You don't look over your shoulder, do you?
- 13:51I did not.
- 13:51Yeah.
- 13:52And so, and then I saw her in my rear view mirror real close, and I was
- 13:56like, "Whoopsie." And then I see her, like, bo, bo, bo, bo, like, shaking.
- 14:00And I was like, "Oh, okay, okay, okay." Oh, yeah.
- 14:02And then so I just kinda, like, went over into the next lane and, like, hit the gas.
- 14:07Oh, yeah.
- 14:07And then she went over to the other lane, so there was a lane between
- 14:11me and the lane that she was in.
- 14:12Yeah.
- 14:12But I could tell her car was speeding up a lot to try and get even with me.
- 14:16Oh.
- 14:16And then I pulled the whole, like, I'm not even looking- You don't even know that-
- 14:20… I don't even know that you're there.
- 14:21I'm just- Right … I'm so content.
- 14:22You can, I can't be bothered by you.
- 14:24Yes.
- 14:24But she was big mad.
- 14:26And I can see.
- 14:27I would've been mad at that too.
- 14:28We're going a high rate of speed- Yeah … and I just clock in right in front of you.
- 14:32That was- Yeah.
- 14:33That was my bad.
- 14:34That was my bad, but- I know.
- 14:36I do, I was thinking, well, I do sometimes make questionable driving choices.
- 14:41Oh, I, a lot of the time.
- 14:42I'm distracted driving a lot.
- 14:44Just the music.
- 14:45It's a concert featuring me.
- 14:47Ah, I bet it's fantastic.
- 14:48All the time.
- 14:49Yeah.
- 14:50I flipped somebody off today- … actually, driving home.
- 14:50But it's like
- 14:55I always… Okay, whenever I was like, "I'm gonna be better," I I used
- 14:59to, I would wave at them and I would say, "Have a nice day." Or, … you
- 15:04know, I would thumbs up them.
- 15:06Uh-huh.
- 15:06But then I was like, "No, screw that." So then like sometimes I'll-
- 15:11Oh … do this as they drive by.
- 15:13You know, a thumbs down.
- 15:14Does that make you feel good?
- 15:15Yeah, it does.
- 15:16I, I need them to know that I don't approve of their- Yeah … actions.
- 15:21You're displeased and you want them to know.
- 15:22I'm very… Yeah.
- 15:23Yeah.
- 15:24I mean, how would you feel, like if you saw somebody go to you as you drove by?
- 15:29Would you… I feel like you would laugh.
- 15:31You- No, you'd get, you'd either laugh- Well, no
- 15:33or you would get so mad … I would either… It would
- 15:34depend on the situation.
- 15:35Yeah, I'd either laugh or get mad, one of the two, yeah.
- 15:37You I could see that just like you, that would eat at
- 15:41you- Mm-hmm … for like ever.
- 15:44Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 15:45A, a month at least.
- 15:45For ever?
- 15:46Yeah.
- 15:47Really.
- 15:47Oh, yeah.
- 15:47And he would probably then look back on it, and as soon as you re- like
- 15:50a year later probably, you could remind him, "Hey, remember that
- 15:52time somebody thumbs downed you?"
- 15:54"Yeah. Ugh," and he would just like- Kind of spiral all over again … re-
- 15:58replay the whole event in my head, yeah.
- 16:00Yeah.
- 16:00Yeah.
- 16:00Yeah.
- 16:00Well, today it was the issue of, so the left lane, I mean, I'll go 80.
- 16:06Yeah.
- 16:06I feel like that is fast enough, and I've had this conversation at work before.
- 16:09Mm-hmm.
- 16:10And I will admit, sometimes I do get carried away and like I'll be
- 16:14in that left lane for far too long.
- 16:16I'm obviously not passing.
- 16:17I'm obviously just using that lane to cruise fast, that I could be doing, that
- 16:21I should be doing that in the middle lane.
- 16:23But if I'm going 80 and the car and if, so this truck, 'cause it's always
- 16:28a stupid truck- was like on my tail.
- 16:31But obviously in your jacked up truck, you can see over my Subaru that it's not me.
- 16:38I'm not the problem.
- 16:39Right.
- 16:39I'm not causing this congestion here.
- 16:43But so there's no reason for you to be on my, on my butt like that.
- 16:46And so, like, I got over, let him speed on, and he probably was, like, a car away.
- 16:51And then I gave him my thoughts.
- 16:54So he probably didn't know.
- 16:57I, like, mean- Yeah … but I've
- 16:59Yeah.
- 17:00I don't necessarily, I don't drive aggressively, but I do
- 17:02drive passive aggressively.
- 17:04Like- I could see that … um, if people … I can see, like, when a
- 17:10group is merging on- Yep … in the evenings when I'm trying to get home,
- 17:13and I'm already on the interstate.
- 17:15I've been here.
- 17:16Okay?
- 17:17And we're trying to zipper in.
- 17:18That's how it works.
- 17:19The one in front goes, then you let the person who's here, then
- 17:22you go, and that's how we do this.
- 17:24We all work together to get home efficiently.
- 17:26No, people don't do that.
- 17:27But you wanna just boom.
- 17:29And, you know, sometimes that on-ramp lane will go pretty far,
- 17:33like- Yeah … and so they'll just zoom way up and then try to cut in.
- 17:38Yeah.
- 17:39And let me tell you, you go sit there.
- 17:40You, you will sit there on the side 'cause I will be pa- you could put a receipt
- 17:45paper between me and the person in front.
- 17:47You are not getting in here.
- 17:49I will do that.
- 17:50Or if somebody has pissed me off before, I will make sure … And I can
- 17:53see them, like, trying to get through, and they're coming through the back.
- 17:56I'll be like, okay." So I'll, like, get where they wanna go, and then
- 18:00I'll close the gap just enough where they can't do it- Yeah … and
- 18:03just really … And I can see that they're trying to, like, move over.
- 18:06And I'm like, "Oh, but I'm here." Yeah.
- 18:08That's, how sad for you.
- 18:10What really makes me irrationally angry is, like, especially here at Bella
- 18:15Vista, 'cause, like, in the morning, I mean, it's a two-lane to get onto the
- 18:19interstate and onto two lane- Mm-hmm
- 18:22of, like, already busy interstate.
- 18:24And especially at 7:00 in the morning, there's, like, 50 or 60 cars, I'm
- 18:29sure, trying to get on, and it's, it needs to be three lanes right there.
- 18:33I get it.
- 18:34The mountains are there.
- 18:34Whatever.
- 18:35We can't do anything about it.
- 18:37However, it pisses me off when I am, like, trying to get on, I also
- 18:43have to merge, and an idiot is behind me, and they just do that.
- 18:48Yes.
- 18:49That's so rude.
- 18:49I'm like, you, I, I also have to get over.
- 18:52I also have to get over.
- 18:53I also have to get over.
- 18:54Yep.
- 18:54Oh my God.
- 18:55Like, you have to let me merge, and if you hit me, that's your fault, Jack.
- 18:59Okay?
- 19:01Ugh!
- 19:02It makes me so mad.
- 19:04So that's where I invented Sharon, and she takes over.
- 19:09I would never have clocked that about you, ever.
- 19:12Oh, it's bad.
- 19:13I- But now that I know it, I feel like I have just a glimpse
- 19:16into your soul a little bit more.
- 19:18It makes me feel good- That's beautiful … that, like, I, I guess I have a good
- 19:21facade of, like, being a calm person.
- 19:26It's not true.
- 19:28I really like to flip people off.
- 19:31It's gonna get me one day.
- 19:32Anyway, so today we're covering session nine-
- 19:36and dissociative personality disorder.
- 19:40All right.
- 19:41You had mentioned - I guess we can just hop on in.
- 19:44You had mentioned that they originally quoted the the job to be, like, three
- 19:51weeks when they first did the walkthrough with the guy who owned the property.
- 19:55And then, but step back, when they were in the car at the very beginning, the, um,
- 20:03CSI Miami guy was talking to the main, the owner, Gordon, and he was like, "Oh, but
- 20:10you know this guy likes jobs done fast."
- 20:12And the guy driving, the owner, was like, "Yeah, but I like them done
- 20:16safe," indicating, like, he was the one that would be like, "Okay, we're
- 20:20gonna temper the expectations here." He quoted the job at three weeks, and
- 20:25the, uh, redheaded guy was like, Phil, he was like, "That's quick, but okay."
- 20:32And then he cut it down to two weeks.
- 20:34And I was like, "But you said you like… This is out of character
- 20:36for you." And then he goes outside with the guy and he's like, "Sike,
- 20:40we can do it in one week." Yeah.
- 20:41Jack.
- 20:41And then it's like, why did you do that?
- 20:43You probably, you could've gotten the job anyway.
- 20:46And then you're like, "We can do this in one week," this whole huge building.
- 20:50Yeah.
- 20:50We can clear out the asbestos.
- 20:53No, you cannot.
- 20:54That's so silly.
- 20:55But I guess, like, knowing what you know at the end, maybe
- 20:59that wasn't him in control?
- 21:01Yeah, 'cause it, like, already starts, like- Yeah … when
- 21:03they're just doing the tour.
- 21:04So maybe that was the th- the thing.
- 21:10Taking over him.
- 21:10Making sure they got the job.
- 21:12I don't know.
- 21:12It was just weird.
- 21:13Yeah.
- 21:13That or making sure that he is putting himself into a situation that
- 21:17would make him easier to control.
- 21:20Because if its whole- Yeah … thing is, "Okay, I, I impact the weak-"
- 21:25Yeah … then, putting in, putting him into a situation where he
- 21:28gets even more stressed, maybe he loses more control- Yeah
- 21:31of himself.
- 21:32But then again, I mean, we find out at the end what, how much or how much
- 21:38lack c- lack of control that he had when he went home- Mm-hmm … to his
- 21:41wife, so that may not be a thing.
- 21:43But- Yeah … just a thought maybe Yeah.
- 21:48This crew,
- 21:52if you know the people you got working for you- … you would never have said
- 21:56they w- they wouldn't have gotten this done, this job done in three weeks.
- 21:59No, I said for someone who's, like, trying to get this job and done
- 22:03in a week, they took more breaks.
- 22:05They did.
- 22:05They do a lot of sitting.
- 22:05They would pass a movie, they were breaking.
- 22:08They did not want that bonus badly enough.
- 22:10And it was like $10,000.
- 22:12Yeah.
- 22:12Red flag.
- 22:13For real, especially the, uh, gambler guy.
- 22:16I'm like- you have, you don't have the motivation To really get the job done.
- 22:19A crackhead would hustle more than he did.
- 22:21Well, yeah, the little stoner boy the nephew.
- 22:25Oh, yeah.
- 22:25I'm like, hold up.
- 22:26You have a fear of the dark, and you took this job in an abandoned
- 22:31building- Yep … with no electricity.
- 22:33I mean, not just an abandoned building, like, you know, a, a
- 22:37mental or a psychiatric hospital.
- 22:38Yeah.
- 22:39Which is creepy enough when it's not run down.
- 22:42Which, fun fact, is now luxury apartments.
- 22:47People live- That's a real place?
- 22:49Uh-huh.
- 22:49Mm-hmm.
- 22:50Oh, Danvers is real.
- 22:51Oh, Danvers is real.
- 22:52Yeah.
- 22:52And, um, like, 'cause we had watched a… Like, it was a man and a woman, I think.
- 22:58They were investigating it or whatever and talking about- Yeah
- 23:00a bunch of old story.
- 23:01We'd, we'd seen a documentary or something on it a long time ago,
- 23:04and then we watched a video after we'd finished the movie of this guy.
- 23:08He had broken into it or snuck in, um, in like 2004 maybe.
- 23:15Yeah, a few years after- Or something like that … after the movie was filmed-
- 23:17Um … or after this movie was filmed.
- 23:19Mm-hmm.
- 23:19Yeah.
- 23:19Oh, my gosh.
- 23:19Because they filmed it actually there.
- 23:21So- Oh … 'cause he walked through, and all his footage at night, like, you
- 23:25could see the, like the same graffiti on the walls and stuff like that.
- 23:28Oh.
- 23:28Some of the pictures that are on the walls in the, um, like the memory
- 23:32type rooms- Yeah … are still there.
- 23:35Oh, spooky.
- 23:36The old, like, pictures of dolls and stuff like that are- I would
- 23:38like that … still… they were still on the walls at that time.
- 23:41Yeah.
- 23:41And so then 20-plus years later after that, the, it's like the
- 23:47middle of it now is still standing, and it's luxury apartments.
- 23:52So people are living in like remodeled psychiatric rooms.
- 23:57Do you think they know?
- 23:58Like, do you think that place, like, do you think the tenants are- Oh, I think
- 24:00they're, yeah … like really haunted?
- 24:01That's, that's, that's like- It's a well-known place.
- 24:02Yeah, very well-known.
- 24:03I mean, it, it's- Mm-hmm … it's… And just to kinda add to that that was one
- 24:08of the things that I thought was really cool was all, like all of the scenery
- 24:13from, all the shots and everything almost virtually untouched by the crew.
- 24:20Oh.
- 24:21It was, it was that creepy just on its own.
- 24:24Yeah.
- 24:25And they, they had got permission to film in a few locations in that building.
- 24:29There were some places they couldn't go- Yeah … uh, just because it
- 24:32was dangerous, and there, there was asbestos in, in that building as well.
- 24:36And some of the cast and crew had talked about it.
- 24:38They said like, yeah, you never felt comfortable in there at all.
- 24:41But yeah, all of those rooms, everything you saw, that, that is
- 24:44exactly how it was in that building.
- 24:47Oh.
- 24:47They, they did very little to actually- You know, like you said, they,
- 24:53they had a little bit of graffiti here and there for whatever reason.
- 24:56I don't know, because it re- in my opinion, it really didn't need it.
- 24:59Yeah.
- 24:59Mm-hmm.
- 25:00But yeah, a lot of that stuff was there.
- 25:02Like, one of my favorite scenes in this is the long hall- hallway with the suits.
- 25:06Oh, yeah.
- 25:07Oh, yeah.
- 25:07Like, that was so creepy.
- 25:08Yeah.
- 25:08That was still there.
- 25:10When that guy broke in and was wandering around, he found that, that location,
- 25:15and all those suits are still in- Oh
- 25:17that hallway is exactly as you see it in the movie.
- 25:20Mm-hmm.
- 25:20So that was, that was a really cool thing, I thought, that this, you
- 25:24know… A- again, this w- this was a well-known, I mean, was, h- was this
- 25:30where they, they developed the lobotomy?
- 25:33I don't know if that's where they developed it.
- 25:35But so the guy who went there, in that video, he was talking about kinda
- 25:40the history of the person who ran it, and his philosophy was that you
- 25:46should treat the people humanely- Yeah
- 25:49and that it would be a positive place for the… So, you know, it's like
- 25:52normally with an asylum or a mental hospital, you think of, like, the terrible
- 25:56things that happened and, like, the experiments that were done on the people.
- 25:59He made it sound like this wasn't really that kind of place- Mm … in
- 26:04reality, but I don't really know.
- 26:07I'd have to do more research into the, the history of the actual, the place.
- 26:11But yeah, the location itself, they kinda just went in and- Wow … filmed.
- 26:17Yeah, that's crazy.
- 26:18So no, they did not develop the lobotomy there, but they did say
- 26:21that the overcrowded facility became heavily associated with
- 26:25the, with the use of the lobotomy.
- 26:28That's spooky.
- 26:30So, yeah Did, have you broken into a, have you gone into a, a
- 26:34mental, like a asylum like this?
- 26:38I feel like there's someone that I know that, like, has actually, like, broken in.
- 26:42No?
- 26:42I don't do abandoned places, mostly because there can be people there.
- 26:48Yeah Like squatters and critters.
- 26:50Oh.
- 26:51I don't, I don't play games with that, yeah.
- 26:52Anyway, okay.
- 26:53I did think, I was like, I thought the guy who was giving the tour, I was like, he's
- 26:59giving, he's, like, selling the place.
- 27:00He's giving, like, a grand tour of this place- … and, like,
- 27:03going way into the history, and I thought, they don't need that.
- 27:07They really don't.
- 27:07Like, they're just here- They just need to see the location.
- 27:09Yeah.
- 27:10I wonder, like, what it looks like to remove asbestos.
- 27:13I didn't even know that was… I mean, I guess, it has to be a job.
- 27:19I thought you had to, like, completely shut stuff off, like-
- 27:24Yeah … because you can't have the stuff flying around Like they had to…
- 27:31When they tore down our old junior high back home, the ceiling
- 27:36tiles had asbestos in them.
- 27:37And so, like they told our teacher, "You gotta stop sticking, um, bugs from
- 27:42the bug collections up there with the things, because you're putting that
- 27:46in - Oh my gosh … and potentially releasing like little micro specks of it."
- 27:50Little, yeah.
- 27:51"So please don't do that anymore." But when they tore that building down, they
- 27:54had to do a lot of like safety work, because you can't just be like, "Okay,
- 27:58bulldoze the building," and then have it like fly out everywhere into the world.
- 28:02Oh, I'm sorry.
- 28:03But then these jokers were just like walking around, 'cause they
- 28:08talked a lot about- Yeah, literally
- 28:09"Hey, you're not wearing your mask," or whatever.
- 28:10Right.
- 28:10Like, nobody wore a mask hardly at all in that- In that movie … or
- 28:14a respirator or anything, yeah.
- 28:15I know, yeah.
- 28:16Very little PPE.
- 28:17I, I felt bad for the nephew at at the very end there, like when he
- 28:20was in that… and you could tell he was just breathing all that in.
- 28:24Oh, yeah.
- 28:25Like, after he's, like, run down this dark hallway and stuff-
- 28:27Mm-hmm … I felt so bad for him.
- 28:29I would've lost my mind.
- 28:30Turns out he didn't have to suffer long.
- 28:33He did not have to suffer long.
- 28:34I thought, dang.
- 28:36Um, yeah, whenever you first hear that creepy voice and the static
- 28:41when like he says like, "Hello, Gordon," I was like, ooh, this is
- 28:44like giving The Shining a little bit.
- 28:45Which I'm excited to watch that movie with you guys.
- 28:49Yeah, that, that is kind of, I mean, a similar concept I guess.
- 28:54Somebody goes nuts and loses control.
- 28:58Yeah.
- 29:00Oh, Mark, I was gonna ask you so like at the very beginning, the
- 29:04g- I guess his name was Hank.
- 29:06I'm always bad, like, with the names, but the, the gambler.
- 29:08Oh, yeah, Hank.
- 29:09He was like telling the nephew about not playing music- … because the
- 29:14sound vibrations would like knock off little particles- … into the air.
- 29:20Does, is that like sound, like rationale?
- 29:23Maybe.
- 29:24Yeah?
- 29:24I mean, 'cause, I mean, I could see that being a possible thing.
- 29:28I mean, I, I don't know about I don't know a thing about asbestos removal, but- Yeah
- 29:32… I mean, I could see a possible maybe sound waves or vibrations or something
- 29:37maybe causing some of it to shake loose.
- 29:38But- Mm … I mean, kind of on the point you, you guys just made about they
- 29:42really weren't wearing- consistently wearing the PPE, so it's kinda like
- 29:47how worried are you about it really or you're just annoyed by the music?
- 29:51Yeah.
- 29:51You know, that kinda thing.
- 29:52But yeah.
- 29:54I mean, I don't know, I didn't, I didn't really question it, but
- 29:56just because I don't, I don't know.
- 29:57Oh, okay.
- 29:58I- And then he came back around later and he turned it up.
- 30:01Yeah.
- 30:01Oh, did he?
- 30:02I didn't even catch that.
- 30:02He had.
- 30:02Yeah.
- 30:02And then started dancing around the room.
- 30:04I just thought, like, Mark would have, like, a thought about that.
- 30:07I mean, it turns out, wouldn't have mattered anyway, so.
- 30:11Right.
- 30:11No.
- 30:12I thought it was creepy, like very foreshadowing, 'cause I think it's
- 30:16Hank that says, "Keep up this pace and we'll all be dead by Monday."
- 30:19And like, so it starts off like- Oh, yeah … and like each day it's
- 30:23like- … longer through the week, so I thought, dang, like it's gonna go down.
- 30:28It started, well, I say I feel like at the beginning was kinda slow.
- 30:32Like it was interesting- … because there was a lot of set up and you're like, okay.
- 30:36And then Mike finds the tapes- Yeah
- 30:38down in the basement or whatever, and so you start trying to piece together that
- 30:43story and all of her what's her name?
- 30:45Mary Hobbes?
- 30:46Yeah.
- 30:46Mary Hobbes, yeah.
- 30:47Her alternate personalities and what happened at her house.
- 30:52Yeah.
- 30:53And you get that piece by piece.
- 30:54But that contrasting with w- what's happening above and all of their
- 31:01work problems and disagreements, like aside from when Hank gets
- 31:08attacked and you don't really know what happens to him for a while.
- 31:11That was spooky.
- 31:11Yeah.
- 31:12It was r- kinda slow.
- 31:14Yeah.
- 31:14And nothing really hit me until, like, when I figured it out.
- 31:18Yeah.
- 31:19And then there was, like, a probably- I don't know, 20, 30 minutes
- 31:25left of, like, me just going back and forth of like, "Wait, is it
- 31:30Phil? Wait, is it Gordon?" Yeah.
- 31:33And then, like, going back and forth of who's the bad one.
- 31:36And then at some point I was blaming Mike.
- 31:38'Cause I was like, "Well, Mike's the one who knew how
- 31:40to do the lobotomy," you know?
- 31:41And so I was like, "Well, maybe it was him the whole time and he's
- 31:43been listening to the tapes." Yeah.
- 31:45So I had plenty of time to let my mind spin.
- 31:49Although I was kinda disappointed that I clocked it that- Yeah
- 31:53at the point that I did, like, with the peanut butter.
- 31:56Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 31:56Yeah.
- 31:57That early?
- 31:58You clocked it that early?
- 31:59Yeah, so like, he… 'Cause, you know, it went back and forth between Gordon in
- 32:04the car- Yeah … and then, like, Hank.
- 32:07I was like, that's weird.
- 32:08'Cause when he was walking at the bottom, he picked up that peanut butter
- 32:10jar like, "Oh, it's weird, there's a thing of peanut butter down here."
- 32:12Yeah.
- 32:13And then the next time they showed Gordon in his car, he picked up his groceries and
- 32:18there was a big, a thing of peanut butter.
- 32:20Oh.
- 32:20And I was like, oh, he's been down there.
- 32:22Oh, okay.
- 32:23And so I was like, so that was probably him.
- 32:26Yeah.
- 32:26But then I was trying to put the pieces together of like w- why?
- 32:30Why is he down there?
- 32:30Yeah.
- 32:31Yeah.
- 32:32So that was him, like, that was him, that figure that you see-
- 32:35Mm-hmm … like, step into the- Mm-hmm.
- 32:37'Cause he wasn't going home.
- 32:38Yeah.
- 32:38'Cause that day, we n- you know later he hasn't been home since that day,
- 32:43because- Like, the first day on the job … that's when he attacked.
- 32:45Yeah.
- 32:45Yeah.
- 32:45Yeah, he killed his wife and kid and then- Mm-hmm
- 32:47he's just been staying on the job.
- 32:48Yeah.
- 32:48Yeah.
- 32:49But so interesting- Which is also no wonder he kept saying multiple
- 32:52times, "I don't want people wandering around here at night." Yeah.
- 32:55He's the one that kept saying that.
- 32:56Oh.
- 32:56And saying stuff like, "I wanna go home." Yeah.
- 32:59But, now interesting fact about that scene or the sequence where Hank is being
- 33:03chased in that lower corridor, where he's going to the patient area or whatever
- 33:08and he finds that jar of peanut butter.
- 33:09Yeah.
- 33:10So during, when they were filming that, the camera operator, and I'm
- 33:14not even gonna try to pronounce her name, um, because I can't.
- 33:19But, uh, she was injured after running into a medical cart that
- 33:24had been abandoned in the tunnel.
- 33:25Oh.
- 33:26As she was, you know, I think it was, yeah, it was a hand, operating a handheld
- 33:30camera, and she ran into it, and it had, like, this metal prong on it.
- 33:35And it pierced the eye cup- Oh … of the camera.
- 33:37Oh.
- 33:37And then it punctured the corner of her eye socket.
- 33:40Oh.
- 33:41Nearly piercing her eye Oh, gross So like where they were, like where you would,
- 33:47where they said you'd do a lobotomy?
- 33:48Yeah, I mean, they the thing where I read this said, uh, the injury
- 33:51paralleled the Hank character's eventual demise by a transorbital
- 33:55lobotomy, uh, in which a lobotomy pick is forced into his eye socket.
- 33:58Whoa.
- 33:59That's creepy.
- 34:01That is so creepy.
- 34:03Yeah.
- 34:03So, I mean- I think I would not- I'd be done … be going back to that job.
- 34:06Yeah.
- 34:06No.
- 34:06'Cause I imagine, like you're, you're filming in this creepy- Mm-hmm
- 34:11… psychiatric hospital that's all run down.
- 34:12It's, yeah.
- 34:13It's not just a movie set.
- 34:14Yeah.
- 34:15And then that happens.
- 34:16Yeah.
- 34:17'Cause you n- it, you, horrible things can't not have happened there, right?
- 34:21Yeah.
- 34:21I mean, at any place where people have been held, whether they were
- 34:29intended to be treated poorly or not, like- Yeah … stuff happened.
- 34:34You know they did.
- 34:35So you believe in ghosts?
- 34:36I believe in demons, and I believe that what people see as what they think is
- 34:42a ghost, like, that's not Granny Susan.
- 34:44That's not so-and-so.
- 34:45Like, that's a demon, I think, taking the form of that thing.
- 34:48Ah, okay.
- 34:49I don't believe that the soul is actually left here.
- 34:52Yeah.
- 34:53Yeah.
- 34:54But I, I do believe in the supernatural.
- 34:57Okay.
- 34:58Definitely.
- 34:58Yeah.
- 35:00Ooh, yeah, I would not be going back.
- 35:03And so also Hank, which maybe this is like he's just that type of guy who
- 35:11talks big, but so, you know, he was giving that little lecture to Jeff.
- 35:17Was it Jeff, the kid?
- 35:18Yeah.
- 35:18I think so.
- 35:19And I think Mike was in the room.
- 35:21No, it was just Jeff, and they were talking about the you gotta wear your
- 35:27equipment, this kind of… You gotta have a backup plan, all that kind of stuff.
- 35:30Yeah.
- 35:31And he was saying, like, "Gordon is, like, the calmest guy that I know."
- 35:34And he said, "Well, what about you?
- 35:35You're not wearing, you're not wearing your mask." And he said, "I've learned to
- 35:40sublimate my fear." And then, like, that night he comes back to get that stuff and,
- 35:44like, drops his bowels at the first sign- … of something, like, bump in the night.
- 35:49Yeah.
- 35:49And I'm like, "Okay, brother." Like- You're talking a big game.
- 35:51Yeah.
- 35:53I thought it was, he's, like, going through all of that, like the coins a- and
- 35:58stuff, and then he's going through teeth.
- 36:00Yeah.
- 36:00That really made me… Was that… He was going through, like, the
- 36:04crematour, like l- it was the morgue.
- 36:07Yeah, on the other side.
- 36:08But is that also where they would cremate people?
- 36:10That's where- Yeah, 'cause it said, like- … that's what that
- 36:10was from … caution hot- Yeah.
- 36:12Hot … on the other side.
- 36:13So that's what they were trying to- Oh, my gosh … insinuate.
- 36:15But, like, okay, if you put a body in there, like, 'cause what they, the way
- 36:23they had it set up, he was reaching through and straight on the other side
- 36:27was the, like the crematory place, right?
- 36:33Yeah.
- 36:34Mm-hmm.
- 36:34'Cause it said caution hot.
- 36:35Correct.
- 36:36The toe tags would not have survived.
- 36:40You're right.
- 36:40Right.
- 36:40Yeah.
- 36:40The, you know, and a lot of that metal stuff would've been melted, not s-
- 36:44you know, like your glasses and stuff.
- 36:47Mm-hmm.
- 36:47That wouldn't survive that temperature.
- 36:49So that was weird to me that they set it up.
- 36:51I mean, that's not how it is in the actual place.
- 36:53So when he went back, they ha- the little chute that they had made- Yeah … they
- 36:58made a little, um, almost a little slide where they could push the coins through
- 37:02and it would come out and, like, look like it was just, like, billowing out.
- 37:05Yeah.
- 37:05On the other side of that is not really a morgue.
- 37:09Oh, okay.
- 37:09So they built that sh- scene for just the movie to show you that that
- 37:15was there, so that wasn't, that's not the reality of the setting.
- 37:19But I, that didn't make sense to me.
- 37:22Yeah.
- 37:22'Cause it it's literal paper, the toe tags.
- 37:26Yeah.
- 37:26That would've burnt up to a crisp.
- 37:28Yeah.
- 37:28Yeah.
- 37:28And I don't know why you'd have, you would find a lobotomy pick- No
- 37:34there either.
- 37:34And they would've- That's, yeah … taken all that stuff off the people.
- 37:37Yeah.
- 37:37Mm-hmm.
- 37:38Unless the… But I don't know how because-
- 37:44the kiln or whatever you, whatever you call it where you put the body in was
- 37:48on the other side, so it's not really like it could've been a staff member
- 37:51stashing that stuff away and stealing it, 'cause it would've not been right there.
- 37:56No, I think, I think they were insinuating that this was
- 37:59basically- Like the leftovers?
- 38:01The leftovers, and that, which to me, again, that doesn't really make sense.
- 38:06Mm-mm.
- 38:06I don't think that coins would survive.
- 38:10I mean- Not in mint condition … not, yeah, not like they came.
- 38:12They were, they were like perfect condition.
- 38:14Yeah.
- 38:14Not, not burned at all.
- 38:16I mean, there'd- Yeah … at least be some soot on there or something.
- 38:18I mean, I don't know.
- 38:19I mean, I, again, I don't know how hot those things get, but- They
- 38:23get real- … I know it takes, like according to science, it does take a lot.
- 38:28But even when it's all done in real life, when the, when they
- 38:34sweep it up to give it to you, like there are still big pieces- Yeah.
- 38:38Mm-hmm … of bone and, and things like that.
- 38:40Yeah.
- 38:40Yeah.
- 38:41So it doesn't like just turn everything to dust, but, uh, metal would melt.
- 38:47I would, I would think.
- 38:47All that has a, it has, there's a, there's a melting point.
- 38:50Yeah.
- 38:51I think it would probably reach it.
- 38:53I would think.
- 38:53I don't know how hot a crematorium gets, but I would imagine- At least they
- 38:58should be deformed … those… Yeah.
- 38:59A- at the very least, those coins would not look like you just got f-
- 39:02got out of the bank with them, so.
- 39:04Yeah.
- 39:06Whoa.
- 39:07Yeah.
- 39:08Cremation.
- 39:09Cremation?
- 39:09Cremation.
- 39:10Cremation.
- 39:12Yeah.
- 39:12Cremation chambers operate it says at a high heat level, obviously,
- 39:18typically ranging between 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit and 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 39:23Ooh.
- 39:24Okay.
- 39:24Wow.
- 39:25How hot is the sun?
- 39:30What is the melting point?
- 39:33Of, we'll just say gold 'cause there were gold teeth in there
- 39:40Okay, the surface of the sun is only about three and a half to five and a half
- 39:44times hotter than a cremation furnace.
- 39:47Huh.
- 39:48Okay, the melting point for pure gold is 1,947 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 39:52So it would not melt?
- 39:55What about- What about like silver?
- 39:57Silver.
- 39:58Pure silver.
- 40:00Well, but it wouldn't be pure if it's in a coring.
- 40:02A c- a coring.
- 40:02A coring?
- 40:03Yes.
- 40:036, 16- Get that coring out of my face … 1600 to 1700, somewhere in there.
- 40:10Yeah.
- 40:10So that would melt.
- 40:10So that, that would melt.
- 40:11Yeah.
- 40:13Yeah, there's no way all that stuff I mean, again, at the very least, it
- 40:16would not look Like pristine like that?
- 40:19Yeah.
- 40:19And glass has no fixed melting point.
- 40:24What does that even mean?
- 40:26What?
- 40:26It has no melting point.
- 40:28No fixed melting point, meaning it's not like once it hits this temperature-
- 40:32Oh, okay … it's definitely gonna melt.
- 40:33It'll melt.
- 40:34Can become fully liquid and ready for shaping between four… oh,
- 40:392500 and 2900 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 40:42So the glasses, the, like the lenses, I was like- Sure, yeah … surely those
- 40:46would have melted, but they wouldn't.
- 40:48Dang.
- 40:48But the metal around them, like the frames.
- 40:50Yeah, those were… And they were so thin and flimsy.
- 40:52Yeah.
- 40:53What I need to know is so after Hank finds this stuff and then
- 40:59gets, like, attacked- Mm-hmm
- 41:00in the tunnels, who is it that goes home to his girlfriend and
- 41:06packs all of his stuff and leaves?
- 41:09Oh.
- 41:09Oh.
- 41:09But that didn't happen.
- 41:10That didn't happen.
- 41:10So I don't think- Because remember- He lied … he was like y- we didn't-
- 41:15Oh, 'cause Gordon … 'cause the whole thing with like, "I wanna call…"
- 41:18Gordon was like, "I wanna talk to Amy.
- 41:21Let me talk to Amy," because we only heard your end of the conversation, Phil.
- 41:27'Cause Phil was on the phone with Amy, and then he was like, "Oh," told them
- 41:31what she said, and so then he basically said, "I don't believe you anymore.
- 41:37Let me call her and see if she really said," he packed a bag and went to Miami.
- 41:42Oh, because what did Phil say?
- 41:44He said that, what's his name, came home, said he, like, found his meal
- 41:48ticket or something- Yeah … and said he was going to Miami for-
- 41:54Gambling school … something.
- 41:54Yeah.
- 41:55Which didn't make any sense.
- 41:56So I was like, that's so weird.
- 41:57Casino school?
- 41:57That's what they said.
- 41:57Casino school.
- 41:58Casino school.
- 41:58Yeah, like, what the heck is even- Which, what is casino school?
- 42:00But Phil was the red-headed one.
- 42:02Yeah.
- 42:02Yeah.
- 42:02And Phil hated Hank anyway- Yeah … and was trying to get rid of him from day one.
- 42:06Right.
- 42:07Oh, but you know what?
- 42:08So even if that was, even if that really happened- Hmm … that Phil
- 42:12said that, and Phil was a good piece of crap anyway, so, like, he, he may
- 42:16have- So you think Phil was also lying?
- 42:17But was Phil already dead?
- 42:19That's all… Yeah, I don't know.
- 42:21Like when- Because- … did he really die?
- 42:23Because how long have any of these people been alive?
- 42:25Yeah.
- 42:26I was like, at one point I was like, is there a weird time loop here?
- 42:29'Cause we know that, okay, so Mike, the blood- Whoa … on the, the blood
- 42:34on the gym floor is Mike, and that happened after the end of, like,
- 42:40all the cl- the climactic stuff.
- 42:42So after he killed Jeff But I don't know when he got… No, he got Phil-
- 42:47No, they were still alive at that point … he got Phil when they were…
- 42:53Phil went upstairs and saw him in the room looking at all his own photos.
- 42:59Yeah.
- 43:00Yeah, because whenever he killed Jeff, I mean, he killed him in the parking
- 43:05lot- Yeah … next to the truck.
- 43:06Yeah.
- 43:07Sam, but whenever they were sitting there talking about that phone call,
- 43:09they w- they were all in that stairwell.
- 43:11Yes.
- 43:11So I think they were all still alive at that point.
- 43:13So that, so we could assume that Phil really did lie because he hated
- 43:20that guy and he wanted Craig on the job anyway- … from the first day.
- 43:23Yeah.
- 43:26Very, very possible, I think, that he didn't actually call that guy's wife.
- 43:29He just lied about it 'cause he wanted Craig there.
- 43:31Gotcha.
- 43:31And poor Craig.
- 43:33He just showed up just ready to work, and then- Poor Craig … boom,
- 43:36gets stabbed in the face.
- 43:37Yeah.
- 43:38Mm-hmm
- 43:40Mm. I am so impressed that you caught on to the twist, like, so early on.
- 43:47For me, it took me, I guess, a minute.
- 43:51It was, like, whenever, um… What was the guy's name that, like, found the files?
- 43:56Jack?
- 43:56Mike.
- 43:57Mike?
- 43:58Mike was, like, going through the files, and you see that Mary
- 44:00was, like, patient or case 444.
- 44:03Yeah.
- 44:04And then Gordon was, like, at the grave- Yeah … 444.
- 44:08Like, he was at her grave.
- 44:10And so then I was like… I was watching it with my niece, 'cause
- 44:14she came out to hang out with me, and I was like, I was like, "Simon
- 44:18is gonna get Gordon, and then, yeah, he's gonna call these people." Mm-hmm.
- 44:23Okay.
- 44:23So I feel like I was pretty- Yeah … far into it before I, I caught on.
- 44:26Yes.
- 44:26And then I was a little sad that, like, I caught on, you know?
- 44:28Yeah.
- 44:29I was expecting it to- To give a twi… I thought it would be a red herring
- 44:34kind of thing, where like you, oh, that's what you think it should be,
- 44:37and you think you have it figured out.
- 44:39Yeah.
- 44:39But it's really this.
- 44:40Tombstones were real, by the way.
- 44:42That's insane.
- 44:43I mean, those were not the real ones.
- 44:45Those were fabricated, but they look exactly like that.
- 44:48The r- Oh.
- 44:49There is a real cemetery.
- 44:50Yeah.
- 44:51It's just further away from the building.
- 44:53And they have now, I guess they did research and found out who the people
- 44:59were that correlated to the numbers.
- 45:01Yeah.
- 45:01And so they have, like, names on actual, like, grave, like
- 45:05headstone type things in the floor.
- 45:07But then there's a big pile.
- 45:09That guy, when he went to go, on YouTube, he went… There's a big
- 45:13pile of them, and they are huge stone with big poles up the middle.
- 45:17Well, it's like when you saw in the movie where the kind of hexagonal- Yeah.
- 45:20Yeah … shape.
- 45:21They look just like that.
- 45:22They look just like that.
- 45:22And- And they're just, like, stacked up.
- 45:24And like I know they fabricated- Oh, gosh … some for the movie,
- 45:26especially the broken one.
- 45:27They had to all of them 'cause it's not in the same place.
- 45:29Oh, okay.
- 45:30They moved it- Okay … close so you could see the the building in the
- 45:33background- Yeah, that's right … from when Gordon is sitting there.
- 45:34'Cause it's actually- The real ones
- 45:35further down.
- 45:36Yeah.
- 45:36But yeah, they actually, they did make them after… Like, they look just…
- 45:40Like, 'cause that guy showed- Oh, wow … you know, he had footage of
- 45:43the, the cemetery before they changed it, and those headstones look exactly
- 45:47the same as they were in the movie.
- 45:48Yeah.
- 45:48I've gotta watch this YouTube video.
- 45:50Yeah, we need to- We'll send, yeah … find it and send it to you.
- 45:51We'll send it to you.
- 45:52Yeah.
- 45:52It was interesting.
- 45:53The guy's kinda over the top, but he's a character a little bit.
- 45:57We can, like, link it in our special or two.
- 45:59Oh, yeah, we should.
- 46:01Um, let's see here.
- 46:05Um.
- 46:05I thought the different personalities were really creepy.
- 46:10I really did not like listening to Princess talk.
- 46:12No.
- 46:13Did not like that one bit.
- 46:15And it became really difficult, not with those, but to figure out in the movie,
- 46:23like, what was real and what wasn't.
- 46:25Like, especially when they were talking over the walkies, when they
- 46:28would get a message, I was like, "Was that really the other person?"
- 46:32Yeah.
- 46:32"Or was that this thing talking through that?" Um, and then to find out at the
- 46:38end, like, his phone was busted, and the whole time when he was, like, calling
- 46:41his wife, there was no… the phone was, like, just a piece of a phone anyway.
- 46:47Yeah.
- 46:47That was creepy.
- 46:49I, it made me sad- Mm … that, like, he killed his child.
- 46:53Yeah.
- 46:54That I didn't like that at all.
- 46:56I just, I don't know.
- 46:57I'm like, maybe, like I can get behind killing your wife, but- I mean, not
- 47:00that like… Okay, that came out wrong.
- 47:03Not that like I'm saying like, "Okay, yeah, it's justified,"
- 47:04but like- Another adult.
- 47:07Yeah.
- 47:07Yeah.
- 47:07Another adult, like not your child.
- 47:10Yeah.
- 47:11Well, and then he, I wonder how much of it he was aware of, because Mary didn't
- 47:18know what she did to, was it her brother?
- 47:21Like, she didn't know, and so then the doctor was trying to get
- 47:24Billy to explain what happened.
- 47:27"You need to tell Mary," and he, they were like protecting her- … from
- 47:30the truth of what really happened.
- 47:32Yeah.
- 47:33But then when he was sitting out on the stump and, um, Jeff came out to
- 47:38talk to him about, oh was that Aunt whatever her name, Amy or whatever.
- 47:44Yeah.
- 47:44And, uh, he kinda started getting teary-eyed.
- 47:48So I wonder like how much of what he did he was aware of when he was in control.
- 47:54Yeah, that's a good point.
- 47:55Well, and like at the end he was like on the phone with her
- 47:57and he was like, "I'm so sorry," like, "Can you forgive me?" Yeah.
- 48:00Like, "I didn't mean to do it," kinda thing.
- 48:02So yeah, I don't know if that was him or like another personality almost.
- 48:10Yeah.
- 48:10Yeah.
- 48:10'Cause of how many took up in his head.
- 48:14We don't know.
- 48:14We just know that like for sure that Simon was there.
- 48:16And I don't understand why it took Phil's voice.
- 48:22Like when it was saying like, "Wake up, you need to wake up," but it
- 48:24was like Phil was talking to him.
- 48:26Oh, I don't know.
- 48:26Not like Simon.
- 48:27I don't understand why it took his form- Well, maybe- … in
- 48:31his head … maybe Phil, after being murdered, took up residence.
- 48:35Yeah, like- Maybe … maybe with another personality.
- 48:37Yeah, here's another personality that took up residence in there.
- 48:39Golly.
- 48:40'Cause I feel like, so with Mary, she had Princess, Billy, and Simon.
- 48:45Yes.
- 48:45But I feel like Billy was the one that might have like gotten Simon to wake up
- 48:51Oh, you think?
- 48:52Did it say what triggered Simon to finally come out on the tapes?
- 48:57I don't think so.
- 48:57I think he just- He can't let go I don't remember.
- 48:59The voice just changed.
- 49:00Yeah, it was like say he finally showed up.
- 49:02Yeah.
- 49:02That's all I remember is that when he was listening to the tapes,
- 49:04you know, well, under session, um- 'cause he never got to hear that.
- 49:08Yeah.
- 49:08All that work and he never got to hear it.
- 49:10Yeah, which I was like, when is this man finding time to work if
- 49:14he's also playing detective- Exactly
- 49:16listening to these tapes?
- 49:18They waited a long time to call Craig, right?
- 49:21'Cause, like, Hank went missing- Yeah … on Wednesday morning.
- 49:26He didn't show up for work.
- 49:27And then, like, at lunchtime, I guess they took until lunch to be like,
- 49:31"Oh, well, Hank's a piece of crap. Let's figure out what's going on."
- 49:35And then they figured out he dipped.
- 49:38And wouldn't you call Craig right then?
- 49:42But they didn't.
- 49:43It was, like, the end of the day, and, uh, was it, was it Gordon or
- 49:48Phil that was like I guess you better call Craig." Yeah, I guess you better.
- 49:50Y'all not gonna make it.
- 49:51Yeah, y'all have like two days left.
- 49:53And then Thursday was when it all hit the fan, right?
- 49:55Thursday morning- Seems like it … 'cause he showed up that morning.
- 49:58Yeah, I think that's when he showed up.
- 49:58Yeah.
- 49:59That or Friday.
- 49:59I can't remember.
- 50:00I think it was Thursday.
- 50:01It did not- I don't think they even noticed the
- 50:02weekend … honestly take that long.
- 50:04Yeah.
- 50:05Dang.
- 50:07Oh, excuse me.
- 50:08All right.
- 50:09So dumb decisions.
- 50:11Yeah
- 50:12I'm gonna say never steal coins from the dead.
- 50:14Yeah.
- 50:15And-
- 50:18Just, accepting the job in the first place- Yeah … I
- 50:21think was a dumb decision.
- 50:22Yeah.
- 50:22You know, you know- Rushing it down … trying to get a three-week,
- 50:26three-week job done in one week.
- 50:27That was just really dumb.
- 50:29Yeah.
- 50:30They split up about 50-11 times.
- 50:32Uh-huh.
- 50:33I had that.
- 50:34Investigating noises.
- 50:36Yep.
- 50:36We don't do that.
- 50:37Yep, yep.
- 50:38Exploring paces, places you have no business.
- 50:42Right.
- 50:42Just do your job.
- 50:43Yeah.
- 50:44Just stick to the plan.
- 50:45Just clear the asbestos.
- 50:48And that- Mind your business.
- 50:49Oh, and also, like, just accepting a job at, clearing out asbestos in a
- 50:55old rundown- psychiatric hospital when you have a healthy fear of the dark.
- 51:02Yeah.
- 51:03He actually had a name for it.
- 51:04They've got a name.
- 51:04He had a, he had a honest to goodness phobia he said.
- 51:07Yeah, he said, "I have a phobia." He gave a name.
- 51:09I can't remember the name of it.
- 51:11I think it was nyctophobia.
- 51:12So yeah, I think it was nyctophobia.
- 51:12Yeah.
- 51:12But he s- he said it, and then, like, why would you go into this place
- 51:17that, that you're having to power, pulling a generator to actually-
- 51:21Mm … put, keep the lights on.
- 51:22Yeah.
- 51:23And you have a legit fear of the dark.
- 51:26Money talks.
- 51:27That is a dumb decision.
- 51:28I guess so.
- 51:29Yeah.
- 51:30Gosh, going back in the middle of the night to get the coins.
- 51:34I don't know why he had to do that 'cause he probably could've sn- obviously, these
- 51:38people are not working all the time.
- 51:40Mike- like, he can sneak away.
- 51:41Yeah.
- 51:42Like, Mike's, like, disappearing for, like, oodles of time to
- 51:45look into- Yeah … his tapes.
- 51:46Mike's going through a whole police- Yeah
- 51:49investigation in there.
- 51:50Yeah.
- 51:51Um, that was kind of all I had on the dumb.
- 51:55Did you have any other dumb decisions?
- 51:56I don't think so.
- 51:57Just checking.
- 51:58Oh, actually, yes.
- 51:59Don't let the person who is in severe financial stress make all the decisions.
- 52:03Because it will not be a rational decision- Mm-hmm … at that time.
- 52:07Well, and then, I guess he was the weakest one because- Yeah … it latched onto him,
- 52:12but like you said, it did it at the very beginning, so that would've influenced
- 52:17his urge to keep cutting the price down.
- 52:22But I guess if he owns the company, could anybody really tell him no?
- 52:27I don't know.
- 52:27Yeah.
- 52:29So bad decisions, they kind of go hand-in-hand, mine
- 52:33do, with the club rules.
- 52:34Like how do you survive this situation?
- 52:38Yeah.
- 52:39Don't take Oreos out of, uh, Gordon's truck.
- 52:41Yeah.
- 52:41He's very particular about his Oreos.
- 52:43Very particular.
- 52:44That was- That was the last thing that Jeff, uh, he, like, found the Oreo.
- 52:46Oh, I forgot that.
- 52:46He was like, "Hey, man. I hope it's okay. I got, found these Oreos in the door."
- 52:50And it's like boom, boom.
- 52:50Yeah, and then whack.
- 52:51Got got.
- 52:51Oh, that's the last thing.
- 52:53Whacked him.
- 52:53He got poked.
- 52:54Poor guy.
- 52:55He was just trying to be, like, genuine and be like,
- 52:57"Hey." I mean, I like an Oreo.
- 52:59I don't know if it's the last thing I wanna have.
- 53:01Ooh, what would be your last thing?
- 53:03Ooh, my last treat.
- 53:07Mine would be Andy's.
- 53:08I was about to say, um, I'm partial to ice cream.
- 53:12Do you eat a lot of ice cream now?
- 53:14No.
- 53:14Like sugar-free?
- 53:15I mean, I can.
- 53:16Or sugar?
- 53:16It's not as good, but, like, I can make a pretty good Ninja
- 53:19creamy low sugar type thing.
- 53:23Oh, yeah.
- 53:23But honestly, like, when the mood hits, I just have the real deal.
- 53:27Yeah, and then just deal with the consequences.
- 53:30Yeah, I can handle it.
- 53:31If I'm smart, I can manage it pretty well.
- 53:36Yeah.
- 53:36Um, but yeah.
- 53:38It's worth it sometimes.
- 53:39Sometimes it is.
- 53:40Yeah.
- 53:41Also put a hard pass on, uh, Mary Hobbes book on tape.
- 53:48Yeah.
- 53:49I mean, that's not what got him, though.
- 53:51And the thing, like even before he found the box, the thing was active.
- 53:56So I don't know if that even would've made a difference or not.
- 53:58He didn't stand a chance.
- 54:00May not have.
- 54:00May not have.
- 54:01I'm just saying, pass on it 'cause it's creepy stuff.
- 54:05It's creepy.
- 54:06Oh, no.
- 54:06If I had found that, I would've been digging through it, though.
- 54:09Absolutely.
- 54:10Have you read the book Verity?
- 54:12Yes.
- 54:13Okay.
- 54:13I'm excited for that movie.
- 54:14Me too.
- 54:15That's the only book that I like by that author- Same
- 54:19because the rest is not, it's not my cup of tea.
- 54:21It's not my style of reading.
- 54:23But that, I feel like the story on that one was actually really good.
- 54:25Yeah.
- 54:26So you would be nosy enough to continue to- Oh, yeah … listen to the tapes?
- 54:31For sure.
- 54:31Well, okay, yeah, 'cause, like, I would say you're like, you're
- 54:34an, an investigator anyway with, like, the Court Connect and stuff.
- 54:37I love an investigation.
- 54:39Now that I know about Court Connect- … I look up a lot of stuff on it.
- 54:42Yep.
- 54:43And, like, when stuff happens even at work, people will be like can you figure
- 54:47out why, like, this student's being charged the wrong amount?" And I'm like,
- 54:51are they really being charged the wrong amount, or did they not give us all the
- 54:54stuff they were supposed to give us?
- 54:55So, like, I'll look at dates.
- 54:57I'll look at everything, all of the history on the account, and
- 55:00I'll be like, "Actually." Yes.
- 55:03Are you, like, the guy with, like, the pinboard and he's like- Yeah, with all
- 55:06the- Like, all the… Yeah … thread.
- 55:09Yeah.
- 55:09Connecting it all.
- 55:10Pretty much.
- 55:10That's amazing.
- 55:11Don't split up.
- 55:13It's wrong.
- 55:13Don't investigate the noises.
- 55:14Don't forget to fill, you know, put gas in generator.
- 55:17For real.
- 55:17Mm. Mike would've probably… I don't know.
- 55:19He probably would've found Mike eventually
- 55:23'Cause Mike, he got Mike when Mike was coming back from
- 55:26turning the generator back on.
- 55:28But he probably would've found him.
- 55:30Yeah.
- 55:31'Cause you're not suspecting him to be somebody that's just gonna … That
- 55:35little blade thing was weird.
- 55:36Yeah, I don't know what that was.
- 55:39It almost kind of looked like a, um, like a tongue blade.
- 55:42A what?
- 55:43It's like a tongue blade to like intubate.
- 55:45Oh.
- 55:46So it's like this little like- The thing that curves?
- 55:48Yeah.
- 55:49Those, woo.
- 55:50Sometimes those give me a little… If I'm watching The Pitt and they're doing
- 55:53an intubation- Oh, yeah … although I wasn't conscious when that happened to me.
- 55:57Just gives you some PTSD.
- 55:58Um, yeah.
- 55:59It gives me a little bit of a don't like that." Yeah.
- 56:01Um- Was your throat sore after that?
- 56:03Oh, I couldn't speak.
- 56:04Yeah.
- 56:05Yeah.
- 56:06And I had like congestion for a while.
- 56:08Mm, mm-hmm.
- 56:09But yeah, I couldn't talk hardly for almost that whole week we were there.
- 56:14I barely got my voice back by the time that they let me go.
- 56:17Yeah.
- 56:18Um, I'm realizing that people who don't know me- Don't know what
- 56:24we're talking about … listening to this are gonna be like…
- 56:24Yeah.
- 56:25I had a medical emergency and, um- Oh, gosh Had to go to the ER
- 56:33and ICU in Salem, Massachusetts.
- 56:36On her 10-year anniversary trip.
- 56:39Indeed, and life has not been the same since.
- 56:42And will never be, but that's okay.
- 56:44Yes.
- 56:44I survived.
- 56:45Speaking of
- 56:48would we survive this movie?
- 56:51So I put no.
- 56:54Because, I mean, if it's somebody you trust, you're not gonna see it coming.
- 56:58That's true.
- 56:59Mm-hmm.
- 56:59You know?
- 57:00So it's like how do you even prepare for that?
- 57:02Yeah.
- 57:02That, I put that down too.
- 57:03Like, I said, eh, when we talked about It Follows I don't think
- 57:07I would be in that situation.
- 57:08I'm not taking a job- No … in a, a situ- a, a job on a site like that.
- 57:12Yeah.
- 57:13Never.
- 57:14Oh, yeah.
- 57:14Just crew.
- 57:14Um, but if I did and ended up, in this scenario, I said I would
- 57:20probably die like Jeff, Jake.
- 57:23What was his name?
- 57:24Jeff?
- 57:24The kid.
- 57:25Oh, yeah.
- 57:25Just like caught off guard.
- 57:26'Cause, yeah.
- 57:27I was like- That would be- … hey, man.
- 57:27He was like opening his arms for a hug.
- 57:29It was- Yeah … so sad.
- 57:30I know.
- 57:31That is 100% how I would end up going in that situation, with my hand in the Oreo-
- 57:36bag, digging out the Oreos and someone coming at me with a knife
- 57:40and be like, "Ah, man." Yeah.
- 57:41Well, not that, I mean, I'm not much of a hugger, but like, I probably
- 57:44would just be like, "Hey, how you doing?" Like- Yeah … and not- And
- 57:48then they- Yep … they get you.
- 57:50They sh- Oh, yeah.
- 57:51No … shank you.
- 57:52I am too soft to remove asbestos.
- 57:55I am just a girl.
- 57:56Mm-hmm.
- 57:56I would probably have, like, already, like, developed lung cancer by the
- 57:59end of the week, and, like, that probably would've got me faster, but
- 58:03I would not be surviving this movie.
- 58:05No.
- 58:06I mean- I also am so afraid of the dark.
- 58:10Me too, big time.
- 58:12Going to the bathroom down here in the hallway.
- 58:14Oh, yeah.
- 58:15When it's, uh, it gets dark.
- 58:16I have to, I close my eyes 'cause I knew, th- because last time- Oh … I
- 58:21opened the door, and you know there's a little bit of light behind you,
- 58:23so I could see my figure in your window, your mirror is right there.
- 58:26Oh.
- 58:26And so I scared myself, so I knew- Oh, no … that was gonna happen.
- 58:29So I closed my eyes when I pulled it, and I felt in there for the
- 58:32light, and I waited 'til I could click the light on to actually go in.
- 58:34Oh, I'm so sorry you had that experience.
- 58:36No, that's okay.
- 58:37Yeah.
- 58:37I've prepared for it now.
- 58:38I can- You know what, though?
- 58:39Like, sitting here, I can't tell you how many times I've looked over.
- 58:42Mm-hmm.
- 58:42Just, like, looked over down that hall to make sure, like, no one's standing there.
- 58:46Yep.
- 58:46It is kind of creepy.
- 58:47Which would be normal 'cause there is another human who's here.
- 58:49Yeah.
- 58:50And I could see him standing in the shadow.
- 58:52You think he would do that?
- 58:54I think- To scare you?
- 58:55… maybe.
- 58:56Maybe.
- 58:57We have had to declare our house a safe zone from purposefully scaring each other.
- 59:02Yes.
- 59:02And that's not because of me.
- 59:05Oh, you would get him too good?
- 59:08Yeah.
- 59:10That's hilarious.
- 59:11Well, it, the way that she would do it.
- 59:14How would she do it?
- 59:15It's so mean.
- 59:16What would she do?
- 59:17She'd wait till I fall asleep.
- 59:21So like in the comfort of his own safe, warm bed.
- 59:23He would be… not usually.
- 59:25Like it would be, the time that I remember that he was like, "This is the last
- 59:28straw," was we were sitting on the couch.
- 59:30He had fallen asleep- … watching TV.
- 59:33It was, we had just gotten married.
- 59:34We're s- in our first house together and, um, he was like, we were
- 59:40at opposite ends of the couch.
- 59:42So his head was at one end, mine was at the other, and we
- 59:44were like feet in the middle.
- 59:45Yeah.
- 59:46And I saw him sleeping so peacefully and I had the idea, and I was
- 59:52like, "I'm about to do this."
- 59:53And I, you don't know, 'cause you were asleep, you don't know how long I sat
- 59:58there laughing and had to stop myself laughing before I could actually do it.
- 1:00:04But I just screamed bloody murder- … and waited for him to like flail around, and
- 1:00:10then he was like, "You're gonna give me a heart attack." And then we couldn't.
- 1:00:15And then our, our, our first house went in like a circle.
- 1:00:18Yeah.
- 1:00:18So I think I like maybe used that one time.
- 1:00:21Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:21And he was like, "We can't do this anymore." He's like, "No.
- 1:00:23Absolutely not." 'Cause I didn't want him doing that to me either.
- 1:00:25So then I was like, "Fine, I get it." That's so funny.
- 1:00:29Yeah.
- 1:00:30Sorry.
- 1:00:30But you'll scare him.
- 1:00:31So if your house is a safe place- Yeah … but you can scare him in other places?
- 1:00:35Well, I don't really have the, I don't wanna draw the attention to myself to
- 1:00:39do it in other places- yeah … really.
- 1:00:41So I wouldn't just, like, scream crazy, like, in a, a public place.
- 1:00:48But I did it one time before we got married.
- 1:00:51We went to see, was it The Conjuring?
- 1:00:54Yes, it was The Conjuring.
- 1:00:57And which i- still to this day is one of my all-time favorite-
- 1:01:01Yeah, it's great … scary movies.
- 1:01:02That movie, I thought was so creepy.
- 1:01:06And then of course- I- Go ahead.
- 1:01:09He fell asleep at we had come back, he took, took me back to my mom's house.
- 1:01:13There was, like, a recliner there, and we'd been talking
- 1:01:16about the movie or whatever.
- 1:01:16He fell asleep in the recliner, like, leaned back, and I was like, "Mm.
- 1:01:22Fresh meat." So he was like just like a little angel laying there face up.
- 1:01:29And I leaned right over him and was like, "Ugh." Like The Grudge.
- 1:01:35Did the whole Grudge sound, and he woke up.
- 1:01:37I'm surprised he didn't punch me in the face- Yeah … 'cause I was,
- 1:01:40like, inches away from his face.
- 1:01:41Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:42And he woke up super startled.
- 1:01:45That was a good time.
- 1:01:46Aw.
- 1:01:47You remember that?
- 1:01:48Yeah, I remember that.
- 1:01:49Man, yeah.
- 1:01:50You're lucky that you didn't get, like, your teeth punched in.
- 1:01:53Yeah, he could've knocked my block off easily.
- 1:01:54I have punched somebody in the face once and knocked their teeth out.
- 1:01:57You did?
- 1:01:58W- please tell me the situation.
- 1:02:00As a kid.
- 1:02:00We were little.
- 1:02:01This was, like, my, so my mom's best friend she has three kids, and her middle,
- 1:02:06her middle son, Aaron, um, I think is, yeah, he's two months older than I am,
- 1:02:10and so we grew up together basically.
- 1:02:12And we were at a, like, some of their friend's house.
- 1:02:15Like, my mom is, like, a card player, so, like, many late nights
- 1:02:19with other church ladies playing cards, like, us kids would play.
- 1:02:23So Aaron and I were playing hide-and-go-seek, and I was counting.
- 1:02:28And he was standing right behind me, and I'm easily scared, too.
- 1:02:31So, like, I finished, counting, turned around, he's right behind
- 1:02:36me, and so I- … punched him.
- 1:02:39And he does this.
- 1:02:42And, like, teeth come out of his mouth.
- 1:02:45Whole teeth?
- 1:02:45Whole teeth.
- 1:02:47I punched- Good for you … his teeth out.
- 1:02:48Yeah.
- 1:02:49You're a strong girl.
- 1:02:50I was so afraid I was gonna get in trouble, so I remember,
- 1:02:53like, crying under- Mm
- 1:02:54the table.
- 1:02:54And I think he was gonna have to go get those teeth, like, pulled out anyway.
- 1:02:59But yeah, my nickname growing up, have I told you this?
- 1:03:02I don't think so.
- 1:03:03Was Mad Dog Brown.
- 1:03:07Because I- That's so cool … I was a biter, and I… Listen, I think
- 1:03:13I've got anger issues, I guess is what I'm learning about myself.
- 1:03:16So why, why do you go with Sharon instead of Mad Dog Brown?
- 1:03:22That's a good question.
- 1:03:23Absolutely.
- 1:03:24Mad Dog is in there.
- 1:03:25Mad Dog is better than Sharon.
- 1:03:27Yeah.
- 1:03:28I'll have to, she'll have to file some paperwork- There you
- 1:03:31go … get her name changed.
- 1:03:32Yeah.
- 1:03:33I put you so on a pedestal right now.
- 1:03:35That's so fun.
- 1:03:38Yeah.
- 1:03:39I will, 'cause I would like I think poor Aaron.
- 1:03:41I bit him multiple times too, and punched some of his teeth out.
- 1:03:46Okay, but if he knew you were a biter, he knew you're a fighter,
- 1:03:49he shouldn't have done that.
- 1:03:50He should have known better.
- 1:03:51Hang on a second.
- 1:03:51Hold on a sec. So you said your, your nickname was Mad Dog Brown.
- 1:03:55Yes.
- 1:03:56Like on the playground?
- 1:03:58Like at home.
- 1:03:59Oh, okay.
- 1:03:59Like in the house.
- 1:04:00Mm-hmm.
- 1:04:00Okay.
- 1:04:01Okay.
- 1:04:02Where I could be myself.
- 1:04:03I was like, how, how far spread is this, this reputation that, Uh-
- 1:04:07Okay … I think at school I was too shy and too anxious to do anything.
- 1:04:11But really just with Aaron, my mom's like best, my mom's best friend's son, 'cause
- 1:04:17I also like remember like pushing him off the slide, but like the ladder side.
- 1:04:24Oh.
- 1:04:25Like not pushing him down the slide, just shoving him off.
- 1:04:28Have you seen that movie The Good Son?
- 1:04:32I don't think so.
- 1:04:32No.
- 1:04:34Do I sound like him?
- 1:04:35You will see Macaulay Culkin in a whole different light- Yeah,
- 1:04:38you will … in this movie.
- 1:04:38Oh, okay.
- 1:04:38Yeah, you would.
- 1:04:40That, that movie might be responsible for so much, uh,
- 1:04:43like anxiety and I don't know.
- 1:04:46That was so disturbing.
- 1:04:47I watched that movie as a kid after watching Home Alone- Mm-hmm … and we,
- 1:04:50we rented it thinking, "Oh, it's Macaulay Culkin. It's another- … another Macaulay
- 1:04:54Culkin movie," and- What's it about?
- 1:04:56It's- He's basically like this, this- Was he adopted?
- 1:05:02I think s- I think he was adopted, and he's, like, evil.
- 1:05:04Oh.
- 1:05:05And when I say evil, I mean- evil.
- 1:05:07Yeah … it's, it's pretty demented, so.
- 1:05:09Oh.
- 1:05:10Like, did you ever watch that movie, I was like- … it's, like, The Orphan?
- 1:05:12Yeah, I was gonna say, something like The Orphan.
- 1:05:13Where she ended up being, like, an adult- 30 years old.
- 1:05:15Yeah, so kinda like that, where they bring this kid into their home.
- 1:05:19I mean, it, it was a, he's a real k- Bless you.
- 1:05:21That's not what you do when someone's coughing.
- 1:05:25Sorry, just choking.
- 1:05:26Thoughts and prayers.
- 1:05:27Choking on my water.
- 1:05:27I don't know what you say when somebody's choking.
- 1:05:30You're supposed to say, "Did it go down the wrong way?" Yeah.
- 1:05:33It went down the wrong pipe.
- 1:05:34Yeah, it did.
- 1:05:34It sure did.
- 1:05:36So, like, you bring this person into your home, supposed to be taking
- 1:05:40care of them, and then they're trying to tear your family apart or
- 1:05:42do dangerous things to your family.
- 1:05:43Right.
- 1:05:44And, uh, they're, like, the, the scene at the end is kinda
- 1:05:46what I'm thinking of, I guess.
- 1:05:48Yeah.
- 1:05:48I mean, it's, like I said, if you go into it expecting Home Alone-
- 1:05:52Yeah … you're gonna be- The Good Son?
- 1:05:55You're gonna be upset.
- 1:05:55Yeah.
- 1:05:57Especially if you're a- You're gonna be upset.
- 1:05:58Yeah, especially if you're a kid, you know?
- 1:06:00It was definitely not- It was not- Did y'all all, like, sit
- 1:06:03down for a family movie night?
- 1:06:04Oh, yeah.
- 1:06:05Oh, no.
- 1:06:06Well, yeah, because you see, like, this face, right?
- 1:06:10You're like, how can he do evil?
- 1:06:12What, is this even gonna show?
- 1:06:14Aw.
- 1:06:16Eh.
- 1:06:16Yeah, 'cause you know, back then- Okay, that's not working.
- 1:06:20Why is it … Oh, there it goes.
- 1:06:21There it is.
- 1:06:22It just froze up.
- 1:06:22Yeah.
- 1:06:22So look at that.
- 1:06:23Yeah, it looks creepy.
- 1:06:24He looks like it's just gonna be like Home Alone 2 1/2 or something.
- 1:06:27Yeah.
- 1:06:27I don't know, but- Is it gory?
- 1:06:30Even when I was just- Not really gory … disturbing … just disturbing.
- 1:06:32And it's- What happens?
- 1:06:34Should we add it to the list?
- 1:06:36I don't know if it's a horror movie.
- 1:06:38Is it?
- 1:06:38I don't … Maybe.
- 1:06:39I don't know.
- 1:06:39It, it's … Like I said, it's definitely disturbing and it
- 1:06:42was, it was, it just- Not maybe like a psychological … this was
- 1:06:45not … Yeah, psychological kinda thing.
- 1:06:47But it was, it was def- definitely not what we was expecting.
- 1:06:52'Cause back then you could not, or we didn't have the internet.
- 1:06:55We didn't have YouTube.
- 1:06:56You couldn't just pull up a trailer.
- 1:06:59But you could read- Yeah … the back of the VHS box.
- 1:07:03You can, but sometimes that doesn't really fully- But they woulda
- 1:07:07told you something goes wrong.
- 1:07:09No, I think what the problem was with this one is that we … That may have been
- 1:07:14where we started taking a closer look at-
- 1:07:16the R rating.
- 1:07:17Oh.
- 1:07:18Um, yeah.
- 1:07:19'Cause I'm pretty sure this was rated R. On IMDb?
- 1:07:22Right.
- 1:07:22And so yeah, this was not … Like I said, I don't know if … 'Cause
- 1:07:27I mean, I didn't rent it, right?
- 1:07:29Right.
- 1:07:29'Cause I was too young to rent movies.
- 1:07:31No, it's just, I mean, I was just a kid.
- 1:07:33So somebody rented it.
- 1:07:34I don't know if somebody read the back of the box and thought, "Eh,
- 1:07:37you know, it's Macaulay Culkin.
- 1:07:40Surely it's, there's something entertaining here." Maybe
- 1:07:42they thought it was a comedy.
- 1:07:43'Cause like, okay, the, the little blip on IMDb, "A young boy stays with
- 1:07:48his aunt and uncle and becomes friends with his cousin, a boy of the same
- 1:07:51age, who shows increasing signs of violent and psychopathic behavior."
- 1:07:58Which can be said about Home Alone.
- 1:08:01True.
- 1:08:01So, you know.
- 1:08:03Oh, it's Elijah Wood is the other kid.
- 1:08:07Oh.
- 1:08:08Are they like the same age?
- 1:08:10I wouldn't have… I mean, I guess that makes sense.
- 1:08:13Yeah.
- 1:08:14But yeah, at one point he like… Did he push him off like a cliff or something?
- 1:08:17Or he- Oh, snap … pushed him down a well or- Yeah … I don't know.
- 1:08:20Yeah, he s- Pushed him off something high, so that's what made me think of okay.
- 1:08:23Okay.
- 1:08:23Yeah, there, there's- Oh, oh … there are some disturbing things that happen
- 1:08:26that's- Mm I mean, I would never kill somebody, but- Yeah … oh, Luna
- 1:08:29decided she wanted to come and see you.
- 1:08:32I love Luna.
- 1:08:34Okay.
- 1:08:36Would… Smash or pass.
- 1:08:38This one's a little bit difficult, 'cause there's not
- 1:08:40really, um- Like a set villain?
- 1:08:43There's not a thing.
- 1:08:44Right, so- I mean, I guess it's Gordon, right?
- 1:08:45I mean, I would- That's true … rather not have Simon in my head.
- 1:08:48Yeah.
- 1:08:48If we're talking about Gordon, like maybe.
- 1:08:51He seemed like a solid dude, until Simon got to him.
- 1:08:54Nah, he looks like George W. Bush to me.
- 1:08:57That is what he looked like.
- 1:08:58Thank you.
- 1:08:59I was like, "This guy looks familiar to me," and then I hadn't seen-
- 1:09:02George W. Bush … I had not seen anything else he had been in.
- 1:09:06Yeah.
- 1:09:06So I was like, "Where, why does this guy look familiar to me?"
- 1:09:08But that, that makes sense.
- 1:09:09Our former president.
- 1:09:11I was thinking about Simon.
- 1:09:14Yeah?
- 1:09:15And I thought to myself, he does kinda have like a sexy voice.
- 1:09:19Yeah.
- 1:09:20And I saw someone else say the same thing, and so I felt not as bad about that.
- 1:09:25I can see that.
- 1:09:27Ultimately- Luna is loving you … ultimately, I would pass.
- 1:09:34Yeah.
- 1:09:35I would pass on being possessed or having- Yeah … an alternate personality.
- 1:09:40And killing my family.
- 1:09:41Yeah.
- 1:09:41I would pass on killing you.
- 1:09:43Good.
- 1:09:44Thank you.
- 1:09:44I appreciate that.
- 1:09:45Good.
- 1:09:46Yeah.
- 1:09:46Thank you for saying that.
- 1:09:48Just for anybody who was worried about it.
- 1:09:50Just want to make it really clear.
- 1:09:50I, I w- Aw … I was actually, yeah, I really needed the clarification.
- 1:09:53Yeah.
- 1:09:54So.
- 1:09:55Well, you know, after you told me I couldn't scare you
- 1:09:57anymore, she's been bubbling.
- 1:09:58Yeah.
- 1:09:59Yeah.
- 1:09:59Got to let, it's gotta release somehow.
- 1:10:02I have, um, is that the end of our…?
- 1:10:05I have some bad news.
- 1:10:07Uh, my laptop died.
- 1:10:08Mine did too.
- 1:10:09Did it really?
- 1:10:09Or it is, it is on its last leg.
- 1:10:11But I have access to the wheel anyway.
- 1:10:13Well, we're, we're actually- So I don't have access to the spinny wheel.
- 1:10:15Oh.
- 1:10:17So- Okay … here's what I'm thinking.
- 1:10:19Okay.
- 1:10:20This is a unique situation.
- 1:10:21Okay.
- 1:10:22And I don't know off the top of my head when this episode drops.
- 1:10:25I can tell you.
- 1:10:26Okay.
- 1:10:27Please hold.
- 1:10:30The next episode would be October 8th.
- 1:10:34Should we do- Like a classic?
- 1:10:38A classic?
- 1:10:38Maybe as in, like, your favorite classic?
- 1:10:42Is it too early?
- 1:10:44We have one on the 22nd.
- 1:10:46Ah, okay.
- 1:10:47So maybe we could do that one on the 22nd.
- 1:10:49Okay.
- 1:10:50So we could just plan out our next two here.
- 1:10:52All right, what should we do?
- 1:10:53What are we in the mood for?
- 1:10:54Let's- We could do Trick r Treat and- Can we do a slasher?
- 1:10:57Is Trick r Treat a slasher?
- 1:10:59Yeah, I would say that and Halloween are both.
- 1:11:00Can we do two slashers?
- 1:11:01So, so, yeah, let's do it.
- 1:11:02So let's do Trick r Treat and Halloween, the original.
- 1:11:05Perfect.
- 1:11:06Oh, I love it.
- 1:11:07All right.
- 1:11:07All right.
- 1:11:07Yeah, 'cause I haven't really seen Trick r Treat, and, uh, it's been a long time
- 1:11:11since I've seen Halloween, and I know you have some thoughts with Smash or Pass.
- 1:11:15You've said that before.
- 1:11:17Absolutely.
- 1:11:18Oh, I cannot wait.
- 1:11:20Cannot wait.
- 1:11:21All right.
- 1:11:22Oh.
- 1:11:22Well, you guys… does it join the club?
- 1:11:24Oh.
- 1:11:24Oh, that's right.
- 1:11:26We were left off track 'cause my laptop died… I would say yes.
- 1:11:30I really liked this movie.
- 1:11:31I agree.
- 1:11:32I liked it.
- 1:11:33Yeah, I'm gonna say yes.
- 1:11:34I, I really love how, like I said, how it was shot on site- Yeah
- 1:11:39and how it's the actual- … Danvers- I'm glad I moved my wine glass … Danvers
- 1:11:44hospital, so yeah, I think this is definitely one that joins the club.
- 1:11:48Yeah, I agree.
- 1:11:49Awesome.
- 1:11:50Well, great.
- 1:11:51This was a fun episode.
- 1:11:52Okay, so, um, next episode will be Trick r Treat, and then
- 1:11:57after that we will do Halloween.
- 1:11:58So we've got some strong ones.
- 1:11:59So you guys stick around.
- 1:12:01Make sure you watch the movies, and we will talk to you later.
- 1:12:04Bye.
- 1:12:05Bye.
- 1:12:06Inviting strangers to join the club is probably a terrible idea, which
- 1:12:12means we're definitely doing it.
