- 2:11Speaker 1: Thank you that, Beatrice. After watching this episode of Sister Wives,
- 2:18Speaker 1: did you have any takeaways, any primary thoughts you'd like
- 2:21Speaker 1: to share with the class.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Look, I'm gonna try and not be negative in this recap.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Okay, we'll see how that comes on.
- 2:27Speaker 2: I'm gonna try really hard because I know we watched
- 2:30Speaker 2: the show. We enjoy it. This is our job. We're professional,
- 2:35Speaker 2: so we're here, okay, But why do we have to
- 2:37Speaker 2: have the apology tour? And why is TLC posting an
- 2:41Speaker 2: infographic of the apology tour on their Instagram, like playing
- 2:46Speaker 2: into it. It just it's so fake.
- 2:49Speaker 1: None of it is genuine and so insincere.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I hate it so much.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And you really get a sense of that when you
- 2:55Speaker 1: watch Robin and him out to dinner and he's kind
- 2:57Speaker 1: of explaining why he wants to do it. I'm just like, oh,
- 3:00Speaker 1: so you're just eking out the season so you can
- 3:04Speaker 1: get more money. That was That was my takeaway. Yep,
- 3:08Speaker 1: And that's it. That's that's all I got.
- 3:10Speaker 2: That's all it is.
- 3:11Speaker 1: All right, So, without further ado, let's get into Sister
- 3:13Speaker 1: Wife season twenty, episode ten, Episode.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Ten entitle extending in Olive Branch a rotten all of branch.
- 3:25Speaker 2: But we start off with Janelle, who is still in
- 3:27Speaker 2: New Orleans on her girls trip, and she goes to
- 3:31Speaker 2: dinner with all of her friends and they have some
- 3:34Speaker 2: more like fake producer driven conversations about dating, which Janella
- 3:40Speaker 2: is not ready to date. We've already talked about this
- 3:43Speaker 2: ad nauseum. I'm just stop pressuring our girl. She's fine
- 3:50Speaker 2: living her best life on her farm. She don't need
- 3:52Speaker 2: no man. I know we would all love to see
- 3:54Speaker 2: her with a man, but she don't want it right now,
- 3:57Speaker 2: but we're going to keep pressuring her. And then we
- 3:59Speaker 2: get into a conversation about polygamy, and they ask Janelle
- 4:04Speaker 2: something about like how it was when she told her
- 4:06Speaker 2: mom that she was going to be a polygamist, and
- 4:08Speaker 2: then we go back into the archives and about her
- 4:12Speaker 2: mom again and then talk about like how Janelle's family
- 4:17Speaker 2: didn't approve of polygamy, which is interesting a little because
- 4:21Speaker 2: Janelle's mom entered into polygamy. So I'm just like, oh, yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 1: The way Janelle has always told it is that her mom, Cheryl, right, yeah,
- 4:30Speaker 1: Cheryl came and needed to check Cody out because she
- 4:34Speaker 1: was very worried about Janelle and she was disapproving of
- 4:38Speaker 1: this polygamous lifestyle. And when she got there, she saw
- 4:43Speaker 1: that Honka Honka burn in love Win and fell in
- 4:47Speaker 1: love with him and in fact ended up marrying when
- 4:50Speaker 1: three months before Janelle and Cody got married, which is wild.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's like we've already heard this.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And I think we read it in a couple of
- 4:59Speaker 1: weeks a couple of those books.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yes, But then it goes into conversations about her marriage,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and I think one of the other friends I don't
- 5:07Speaker 2: remember all of their names, really, so I apologize. But
- 5:10Speaker 2: one of the other friends asks Janelle or says to Janelle, well,
- 5:13Speaker 2: your marriage to Cody was good in the beginning, And
- 5:16Speaker 2: then she asks if there was women before Robin, and
- 5:19Speaker 2: Janelle says there was one, but they didn't approve of her,
- 5:23Speaker 2: so it didn't work out. And then Janelle talks a
- 5:27Speaker 2: little bit of shit about Cody and says again like
- 5:29Speaker 2: when he turned fifty, he just stopped wanting to do
- 5:33Speaker 2: polygamy and stop wanting to be like the patriarch of
- 5:37Speaker 2: the family and have all of the responsibility on his shoulders.
- 5:41Speaker 2: But she says, she's putting words in his mouth, so
- 5:44Speaker 2: she is speculating.
- 5:45Speaker 1: This is her interpretation of events as they happened, and
- 5:48Speaker 1: of course they happened around the time of COVID, making
- 5:51Speaker 1: it very convenient for Cody to lock himself away in
- 5:55Speaker 1: that McMansion with Robin and the Haunted dolls and the
- 6:00Speaker 1: Etsy dolls.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and the dolls and the statue right yes. And
- 6:08Speaker 2: then another friend asks Janelle jokingly like would you ever
- 6:11Speaker 2: go to counseling with codium Robin? And Janelle's like, fuck no, yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 2: why why would I ever do that? I basically hate them.
- 6:18Speaker 2: She talks about the spiritual release again, she is going
- 6:21Speaker 2: to move forward with it, which is great, let's get
- 6:23Speaker 2: to it. I'd love to see it.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yeah, well we're talking a lot about it, and I
- 6:28Speaker 1: would prefer to actually see the process of it versus
- 6:31Speaker 1: you going to New Orleans and throwing beads at guys
- 6:35Speaker 1: who are showing their dad bots on Bourbon Street. But like,
- 6:38Speaker 1: what Ever's I mean?
- 6:39Speaker 2: That's great. I'm glad that you're living like a fun
- 6:42Speaker 2: life now because you grew up conservative and stuff. That's awesome.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But well, it feels to me like she's in a
- 6:48Speaker 1: hostage situation. I don't think Janelle, under any circumstances would
- 6:52Speaker 1: actually want to go to Bourbon Street and like dance
- 6:56Speaker 1: in the street.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Like she hates that.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But she's only doing it because, again, as we discussed
- 7:02Speaker 1: last week, like this is her livelihood. She realizes, well, shit,
- 7:06Speaker 1: if I want to build my house, yeah, if I
- 7:08Speaker 1: want to have a life, I need to develop some
- 7:10Speaker 1: streams of income and this is one. This is my
- 7:12Speaker 1: biggest one. TLC.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Definitely, I was talking to Ethel about this earlier today
- 7:17Speaker 2: and she thinks there's going to be like at least
- 7:19Speaker 2: five more seasons of Sister Wives, because they're gonna milk it,
- 7:24Speaker 2: my god, until the milk runs dry, and we're gonna
- 7:27Speaker 2: have a lot of content like this, I'm sure if
- 7:30Speaker 2: she's right. Can't you see it though? Can't you see
- 7:33Speaker 2: them going five more seasons until the ratings just absolutely
- 7:36Speaker 2: fucking plummet because nobody wants to watch this anymore?
- 7:39Speaker 1: How many seasons did the Duggers get again?
- 7:41Speaker 2: I don't know. They canceled because of all the eldest
- 7:45Speaker 2: son being a girate.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, but not as many as like twenty seasons
- 7:51Speaker 1: like we've got with the broad Like this, Is this
- 7:53Speaker 1: the longest running show that TLC has ever done?
- 7:57Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Maybe I think it's or ninety days to say, I
- 8:01Speaker 1: don't really, I don't really know. I think it predates
- 8:03Speaker 1: ninety Day Fiance.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I think so too.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know, but yeah, I can see it
- 8:07Speaker 1: going for another five years. I just don't know what
- 8:09Speaker 1: we're going to be talking about unless we start incorporating
- 8:12Speaker 1: some of the older kids and their families and their
- 8:15Speaker 1: actual feelings about things. I just don't know. Are we
- 8:19Speaker 1: just supposed to go to restaurants? With Cordy and Robin
- 8:22Speaker 1: constantly like oh no.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I mean we did get a little bit with Maddie
- 8:26Speaker 2: later in the episode, which I did appreciate it, and
- 8:28Speaker 2: I'm like, give me more of this from the older kids.
- 8:31Speaker 2: That would be very entertaining. But I don't want to
- 8:33Speaker 2: see Cody and Robin or in this next sub segment,
- 8:37Speaker 2: Mary and Amber planning their Vegas trip and talking about
- 8:41Speaker 2: all of the dating stuff they're going to be doing
- 8:43Speaker 2: and egg plants and they want to go to strip
- 8:45Speaker 2: clubs and they're going to party.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I'm bored. I'm bored too. I'm also cringing, yeah a
- 8:53Speaker 1: little bit. I just feel like this is awkward for
- 8:55Speaker 1: me to watch. But I mean, I know you want
- 8:57Speaker 1: your hot girl summer, which is great and I love
- 9:00Speaker 1: that for you in Amber, you too, But I just
- 9:03Speaker 1: is this all you got?
- 9:04Speaker 2: I know?
- 9:05Speaker 1: Is this the only thing that you can provide in
- 9:06Speaker 1: terms of content?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Like can we stop giggling like little schoolgirls about eggplants
- 9:11Speaker 2: and stuff? Like you're grown women. Yeah you've seen peepies
- 9:15Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Whoa one one?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah? Well for Mary, yeah, so it's like we.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Know the thing that just took me out though, I
- 9:24Speaker 1: mean guess guess what took me out when I was
- 9:27Speaker 1: watching Mary and Amber.
- 9:28Speaker 2: If you guess her straightening her hair. Yeah, yeah, her straightening.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Did you notice how it stuck up? It stuff up
- 9:36Speaker 2: like this after she's straightened it.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I'm just like, Marry girl, Oh, you gotta stop doing
- 9:41Speaker 1: that to your hair. I just wanted her to shake
- 9:43Speaker 1: it out a little bit, or like just a little
- 9:45Speaker 1: bit of softness around your face, but it stick straight
- 9:50Speaker 1: and damage. God, I really need her to stop doing that.
- 9:54Speaker 1: She thinks she does look good in her little black
- 9:58Speaker 1: denim jackets. I think she's looking great. Yeah, but the hair, bitch,
- 10:03Speaker 1: the hair is too much for Mammadelia.
- 10:07Speaker 2: It's giving realtor chic.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'm just like, it's giving twilight. Yeah, it's literally just
- 10:13Speaker 1: giving twilight.
- 10:14Speaker 2: But you know, somebody commented on our YouTube channel, I
- 10:17Speaker 2: think it was last week or the week before when
- 10:19Speaker 2: we were talking about Cody's hair, and they were like,
- 10:21Speaker 2: your guys's hair is terrible too, And I'm like, these
- 10:24Speaker 2: are wigs?
- 10:25Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 10:27Speaker 2: They're like you're one to comment. I'm like, Cody's literally bald.
- 10:31Speaker 1: And who out here on God's green planet is defending
- 10:35Speaker 1: Cody comments? What kind of life are you living if
- 10:38Speaker 1: you're defending Cody in the comments, I know, give me
- 10:41Speaker 1: a break.
- 10:42Speaker 2: But I'm sure people will comment the same thing with
- 10:44Speaker 2: us talking about Mary's hair, but I'm like, they literally
- 10:47Speaker 2: showed her straightening it so bad. It's so damage that
- 10:51Speaker 2: it's sticking up like it was ridiculous.
- 10:56Speaker 1: And also, I'm literally trying to help. Sure, I'm just
- 10:59Speaker 1: trying to do her if you could just let it
- 11:01Speaker 1: grow out a little bit, because we get these flashbacks
- 11:04Speaker 1: incessantly with the same photos of the wedding and her youth,
- 11:08Speaker 1: but like her hair used to be long and there
- 11:11Speaker 1: was waves in her hair. I'm just like, maybe could
- 11:13Speaker 1: we compromise just a little bit of length and some
- 11:16Speaker 1: softness around your face. I think it would do wondrous
- 11:19Speaker 1: for her.
- 11:19Speaker 2: It would be great.
- 11:20Speaker 1: That's just my raccoon opinion.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I agree. But nevertheless, Mary's feeling herself. She says she's
- 11:27Speaker 2: never been this confident in her life, which I love,
- 11:29Speaker 2: which is great, And she does say something to the
- 11:31Speaker 2: effect of like she's been dealing with imposter syndrome ever
- 11:35Speaker 2: since the divorce with Cody, and you know, totally fair
- 11:39Speaker 2: and valid because she even talks about her relationship with
- 11:42Speaker 2: Cody and how the most frustrating thing for her was
- 11:44Speaker 2: that he never communicated to her his separation and she
- 11:49Speaker 2: felt like their whole marriage was a lie, that it
- 11:52Speaker 2: was founded on lies. And now she's hashtag worthying up
- 11:57Speaker 2: and she's trying to live her hot girl summer, which
- 11:59Speaker 2: is great. Yeah, it's just a wee bit cringey.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah it's cringey to watch. But also I do want
- 12:07Speaker 1: the best for her, and I want her to be
- 12:08Speaker 1: feeling herself. And I do think that she's just been
- 12:13Speaker 1: through a colossal mind fuck that lasted thirty three years
- 12:17Speaker 1: of her whole life married to this guy dedicated to
- 12:20Speaker 1: her faith. In the entire time, he didn't love her,
- 12:24Speaker 1: he didn't want her. Like how that must make her feel.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And the kind of excavation she's got to do psychologically
- 12:31Speaker 1: to like pull that up and look at it and
- 12:33Speaker 1: then work it out and then come to a place
- 12:36Speaker 1: where she's accepting herself that's pretty impressive, actually, definitely, And
- 12:41Speaker 1: so she deserves to find somebody who can meet her
- 12:43Speaker 1: at her level and like she said, who will consider
- 12:46Speaker 1: it to be a privilege in her presence. I do
- 12:49Speaker 1: want that for her.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I do I do too.
- 12:51Speaker 1: What's wrong?
- 12:52Speaker 2: Then, I said, I wasn't going to be negative.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Well, we've already been negative. You can say what you
- 12:57Speaker 1: have to say, Okay, don't.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Then it's all right. We'll just leave it at that.
- 13:01Speaker 2: She does deserve a man who will bow down to
- 13:04Speaker 2: her and be like, oh my god, what.
- 13:05Speaker 1: A privilege it is to be in your honor and
- 13:08Speaker 1: bear it down, and that you can nail yourself.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I mean, but it's a little crazy.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I'm just like, well, calm out, but I mean when
- 13:14Speaker 1: you compare and contrast with what she's just come out of,
- 13:17Speaker 1: when she was so underappreciated and literally invisible. Absolutely, she's
- 13:23Speaker 1: looking for somebody who values her and honors her and
- 13:25Speaker 1: wants her to be and wants to be with her.
- 13:27Speaker 2: And that is totally fair.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I was talking to Ethel about this too, and she
- 13:30Speaker 2: says Mary needs to just come out as a lesbian
- 13:34Speaker 2: and date Amber or something, and I agree.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I wouldn't be mad at it.
- 13:39Speaker 2: I mean, I would love that for her. Then we
- 13:42Speaker 2: shift gears and we have Christine Isabelle truly and David
- 13:47Speaker 2: going bowling and a Mesonnor. I literally said out loud
- 13:53Speaker 2: while watching it to my TV. I'm like, are we
- 13:56Speaker 2: really going bowling? Right now?
- 13:57Speaker 1: We are?
- 13:58Speaker 2: All right, We're going bowling. There's not much that came
- 14:00Speaker 2: out of this section really besides the fact that David's
- 14:03Speaker 2: a jokester. And we hear from Isabelle a little bit,
- 14:07Speaker 2: and she talks about how she was nervous about David
- 14:11Speaker 2: coming into the family. She was worried he was going
- 14:13Speaker 2: to replace her dad, because there really is just one
- 14:15Speaker 2: and only dad. But David's really great. He's really great
- 14:18Speaker 2: with all of the kids, not just her, and he's
- 14:21Speaker 2: very respectful and doesn't overstep his place, says Christine's husband.
- 14:27Speaker 2: And Isabelle says, you know, even though I don't have
- 14:30Speaker 2: much of a relationship with my dad, like, it's still
- 14:33Speaker 2: my dad and I don't want anybody trying to replace him.
- 14:36Speaker 2: That's all fair and valid. And she also says that
- 14:39Speaker 2: she doesn't hear from Cody at all and they're not close,
- 14:43Speaker 2: but she still loves him.
- 14:45Speaker 1: We didn't even mention that we were going to have
- 14:46Speaker 1: an after party after this, No, it did have, and
- 14:49Speaker 1: so let me just mention that now. And the reason
- 14:52Speaker 1: we're going to primarily have and after party is because
- 14:55Speaker 1: Cody's been doing the rounds in various interviews talking about
- 14:59Speaker 1: how he's reconnecting with his children and he's making up
- 15:03Speaker 1: all this shit and we all know it's a lie.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And of course Leon came out on Instagram and made
- 15:09Speaker 1: a bold statement, and so we're going to talk about
- 15:11Speaker 1: that statement in the after show and we're gonna give
- 15:14Speaker 1: our opinions about that because it was it was it
- 15:17Speaker 1: was a great statement. It was great love that statement.
- 15:20Speaker 1: It was very And also you've probably heard, if you're
- 15:23Speaker 1: following Seeking Sister Wives in our coverage there that Garrick
- 15:26Speaker 1: Merryfield was arrested for domestic violence a bitch, So we're
- 15:29Speaker 1: going to talk about that in the after show as well.
- 15:32Speaker 1: So if you are a part of our Patreon, you
- 15:34Speaker 1: will just continue after the recap, we'll go right into
- 15:36Speaker 1: the after show. If you're not on Patreon, then come
- 15:40Speaker 1: on over because you have access to all of that
- 15:41Speaker 1: and we continue the fun and we really get into
- 15:44Speaker 1: the grittiness of it all. Yes, but this made me
- 15:47Speaker 1: hurt my heartball watching Isabelle because she's such a tender spirit.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Do we know her sign. She's giving cancer, she's giving piping,
- 15:56Speaker 1: she's giving water, She's just a lovely baby, and she
- 16:00Speaker 1: wants her daddy, and he refused to sing to her
- 16:04Speaker 1: when she came out of surgery, he refused to be there.
- 16:08Speaker 1: He has been the most despicable dad, But like, it
- 16:10Speaker 1: doesn't matter when you're a child and you just want
- 16:13Speaker 1: your father exactly. It breaks my heart, but at least
- 16:16Speaker 1: she has David. And I do want to make a
- 16:19Speaker 1: comment there when they go into the bowling alley, you know,
- 16:23Speaker 1: he gets one of those disgusting bowling shoes and he
- 16:26Speaker 1: puts it right in her face to smell the shoe.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't and I don't.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I don't like that at all. It's like when my
- 16:31Speaker 1: brother came over for Thanksgiving, this this like three days
- 16:36Speaker 1: ago or whatever. He came over. The first thing he
- 16:38Speaker 1: did as I'm in the kitchen preparing food, is he farted,
- 16:42Speaker 1: like this huge fart, terrible and he just laughed at it.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I'm just like, oh, so, yeah, this is how we're starting.
- 16:48Speaker 1: How you're gonna fart while I'm kind of David gives
- 16:51Speaker 1: some of that same energy and after a while that
- 16:54Speaker 1: would probably be very exhausting.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's like, why can't you just not all
- 17:00Speaker 2: always joke or not always play pranks or whatever, Like,
- 17:03Speaker 2: why can't it just be neutral and normal, just chill
- 17:06Speaker 2: like we're just vibing, you know, like we're just girls. Right,
- 17:09Speaker 2: go into the bowling alley. You don't need a stuff
- 17:11Speaker 2: a bowling shoe in my face.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I mean, and if somebody put a disgusting bowling shoe
- 17:16Speaker 1: which has seen the likes of a bazillion grody, fungal feet,
- 17:21Speaker 1: into my face, yeah, it is proximate and potentially touching
- 17:25Speaker 1: my skin. Honey, we are throwing he yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 2: For sure.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I thought it was interesting that they were referencing the
- 17:33Speaker 2: fact that he's a jokester. But I'm like, I'm wondering
- 17:36Speaker 2: if y'all are getting annoyed with that.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Yeah, a little bit, it would be exhausting. Yeah, I
- 17:40Speaker 1: just calm down a little bit.
- 17:41Speaker 2: If it's all the time, Yeah, you know, like maybe just.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Chill out a little well. And he even talks about
- 17:45Speaker 1: like when truly is in a personicity mood, he just
- 17:49Speaker 1: gives her some sarcastic remark and snaps her out of it.
- 17:52Speaker 1: And I'm just like, I'm just getting a tone, Yeah,
- 17:55Speaker 1: just a little vibracion that I'm picking up from David
- 17:58Speaker 1: I'm not necessarily aligned with it.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Yeah, me neither. And I'll just leave it at that. Okay,
- 18:05Speaker 2: I'm not gonna be negative, Okay. And then we get
- 18:07Speaker 2: into Cody and Robin going to dinner some booty ass
- 18:11Speaker 2: place and flag Staff, and this is where Cody announces
- 18:17Speaker 2: that he's going to be going on his apology tour.
- 18:21Speaker 2: But first we have to have a discussion about it,
- 18:23Speaker 2: like this is the first idea that he's had, and
- 18:27Speaker 2: he wants to get Robin's genuine opinions about it. And
- 18:31Speaker 2: we have to pretend like this is a real conversation
- 18:33Speaker 2: and that they didn't just talk about this with their
- 18:35Speaker 2: producers or their management before the season aired. They're talking
- 18:39Speaker 2: about it organically right now in front of the cameras. Yeah,
- 18:42Speaker 2: so what did you think about this whole?
- 18:45Speaker 1: I don't know, honey. Every time I see the word
- 18:48Speaker 1: flagstaff on the television, I just like clench. Yeah. I
- 18:52Speaker 1: just can't stand them. And it's a marvel to me.
- 18:57Speaker 1: The shape of Robin's mouth, just this these two lines,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I know, I don't even think they're marionettelines. It's just
- 19:04Speaker 1: her mouth and the way it's constantly frowning so deeply
- 19:09Speaker 1: she's just an unhappy person. And now we have to
- 19:12Speaker 1: have another scene where they're performing for the cameras, and
- 19:16Speaker 1: Cody can't even get out his plan without equivocating. He
- 19:21Speaker 1: has to say, well, I know there's some things that
- 19:24Speaker 1: I did wrong, and like I shouldn't have said them,
- 19:27Speaker 1: but I was. I was led to do that because
- 19:29Speaker 1: of the betrayal in my family, and of course I'm
- 19:32Speaker 1: just reacting to their terrible behavior. Well, like for the
- 19:36Speaker 1: part that I did, I should say I am sorry,
- 19:40Speaker 1: Like I'm just like, that's not how this works. Your
- 19:44Speaker 1: apology should be unconditional. Your acceptance of responsibility should be unequivocal.
- 19:51Speaker 1: It should not. It shouldn't hinge upon whether they take
- 19:54Speaker 1: responsibility for the shit that they did wrong. It shouldn't
- 19:57Speaker 1: hinge upon their acknowledgment that you didn't do everything. Like
- 20:01Speaker 1: it should just be a blanket. I was wrong, and
- 20:05Speaker 1: I am sorry, and I conducted myself in an inappropriate
- 20:08Speaker 1: and even an abusive manner, and I want to make
- 20:10Speaker 1: up for that, and you don't owe me an opportunity
- 20:13Speaker 1: to do that, but I just want to share with
- 20:15Speaker 1: you my intention, Like that's what it is supposed to give.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yep and he's so dumb, unintelligent emotionally and in his
- 20:25Speaker 1: brain ball like he doesn't he thinks he's doing something
- 20:29Speaker 1: in front of the cameras. He thinks he's being benevolent.
- 20:31Speaker 1: He uses the word benevolent. I seek to be benevolent
- 20:34Speaker 1: to my underlings. But he's just coming across as even
- 20:38Speaker 1: more of a malignant narcissist, which gives me rage. And
- 20:42Speaker 1: then he, like you know, sends that ball over to Robin,
- 20:45Speaker 1: and she's like, well, like, you know, despite these kids
- 20:49Speaker 1: being influenced and misunderstanding some of what happened, like I
- 20:54Speaker 1: think the impulse is a good one.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, And she also throws him a bone and is like, well,
- 20:59Speaker 2: it's okay to be hurt, though, and you shouldn't have
- 21:02Speaker 2: to apologize for your hurt feelings. And it's like, oh
- 21:05Speaker 2: my god, you two are two piece and a pod.
- 21:08Speaker 2: You're perfect for each other. But Cody introduces this whole
- 21:11Speaker 2: thing by saying it was a traumatic experience. He was
- 21:15Speaker 2: manipulated and unsafe with the OG three and that's why,
- 21:20Speaker 2: like you had said, that's why he's saying I was
- 21:23Speaker 2: so mean and I'm not an asshole, but I have
- 21:26Speaker 2: the potential to be one sometimes or something like that.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Doesn't he reference being surprised that other people actually find
- 21:35Speaker 1: him to be an asshole? Yes, I believe him, and
- 21:38Speaker 1: I think this is further compounded by what happened after
- 21:41Speaker 1: Special Forces. Ye, when he learns how everybody else actually
- 21:45Speaker 1: thinks he's an absolute ahole and how that must have
- 21:48Speaker 1: been so shocking to him. I'm wondering when this is filmed, Like,
- 21:51Speaker 1: is this filmed after we've after he's seen what they
- 21:55Speaker 1: said on Special Forces or is it before. I'm like
- 21:58Speaker 1: wondering about the timeline.
- 22:00Speaker 2: He kind of looks more toned in this scene, so
- 22:03Speaker 2: I'm thinking it's after Special Forces, because I mean, Special
- 22:05Speaker 2: Forces is only like a week. It's not like he's
- 22:08Speaker 2: gone for that long.
- 22:09Speaker 1: And it's like in June. Yeah, And I'm not sure
- 22:11Speaker 1: when he would have received the copies of the episodes
- 22:14Speaker 1: to watch.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I'm not sure either, but maybe he heard about it before.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So it's not just your wives who think your assholes,
- 22:21Speaker 1: it's not just your kids who think you're an asshole,
- 22:24Speaker 1: but like the people on Special Forces. So he's coming
- 22:26Speaker 1: to the realization that he's not well liked, and so
- 22:29Speaker 1: I think that's probably why he wants to do this
- 22:32Speaker 1: apology tour and attempt to rehab his image and convince
- 22:36Speaker 1: us that it's genuine. But it's not because you can't
- 22:39Speaker 1: even say it without laying blame on other people.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, he literally says, I will not apologize for what
- 22:45Speaker 2: I'm being accused of. I'll only apologize for what I
- 22:48Speaker 2: know I did wrong, And then he says the thing
- 22:50Speaker 2: that he did wrong was saying I didn't love them,
- 22:53Speaker 2: and that's it. I'm like, okay, not calling your kids'
- 22:55Speaker 2: assholes and talking shit about their moms on national TV
- 22:58Speaker 2: for multiple seasons, screaming at their mom, screaming at them,
- 23:01Speaker 2: saying that you were unattracted to Christine and that Janelle's
- 23:04Speaker 2: a bitch and Mary's a bit. Like it's just so
- 23:07Speaker 2: frustrating and I can't believe we're even giving them airtime.
- 23:11Speaker 2: And I know we're talking about them because this is
- 23:13Speaker 2: our job and we have a professional prodcast, so we
- 23:16Speaker 2: have to talk about them, but like so professional, professional,
- 23:20Speaker 2: but it's just it's so frustrating that TLC is even
- 23:23Speaker 2: giving them this and putting them on an apology tour
- 23:27Speaker 2: when we all know, like all the viewers and even
- 23:30Speaker 2: the OG wives are skeptical of Cody's intensions with this
- 23:33Speaker 2: whole apology tour, So I don't know why we're doing it.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Everyone seems to know that it's for content and that
- 23:39Speaker 2: it's all a bunch of bs, but we're gonna pretend
- 23:42Speaker 2: like it's not.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I guess, I guess we're along for the ride.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Oh and one thing I did want to highlight in
- 23:48Speaker 2: this whole conversation with him and Robin was that he
- 23:50Speaker 2: kept calling it a pilgrimage. Yeah, and he has used
- 23:53Speaker 2: that verbiage multiple times throughout this series on various things,
- 23:58Speaker 2: like it was a pilgrimage to go to AA, Is
- 24:00Speaker 2: it was a pilgrimage to go to Navu?
- 24:02Speaker 1: Was it a pilgrimage to go to Garrison's funeral?
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yes, it was because he had to bring his ashes
- 24:07Speaker 2: and everything. And so now it's I'm going on a
- 24:09Speaker 2: pilgrimage and it's a I've got a sense of purpose now,
- 24:12Speaker 2: And it's like, no, you don't, though, It's it's just
- 24:15Speaker 2: for you to feel better about your shitty behavior and
- 24:18Speaker 2: be like, well but I apologize though, so I'm a
- 24:21Speaker 2: good person.
- 24:22Speaker 1: And also to frame what it is that you're doing
- 24:24Speaker 1: is something sacred yes, which it is not.
- 24:27Speaker 2: And then we have to hear from Robin saying that
- 24:29Speaker 2: it was a really big deal for her to hear
- 24:31Speaker 2: that Cody was not in love with the exes. She
- 24:33Speaker 2: calls them the exes and because that's what made me
- 24:37Speaker 2: fall in love with Cody. And so I'm just he's
- 24:40Speaker 2: got to own it, and I've just got to keep
- 24:42Speaker 2: my opinions out of it so I don't influence him further.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Sure, lady, I just can't. But then I thought it
- 24:48Speaker 1: was very rich how she made it about herself. She
- 24:50Speaker 1: did what he needs to do in order to reconcile.
- 24:53Speaker 1: These relationships must always blow back and come back to her,
- 24:57Speaker 1: her experience, how she grew up in polygamy, and what
- 25:00Speaker 1: she thinks about it exactly. It's just frustrating.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Then we go back to North Carolina. Janelle's back home
- 25:07Speaker 2: from New Orleans and she has a little conversation with
- 25:09Speaker 2: Maddie Yes, which was a little interesting. She does tell
- 25:13Speaker 2: Maddie that after she got back from New Orleans, she
- 25:15Speaker 2: got a text from Cody wanting to come out to
- 25:19Speaker 2: North Carolina and have dinner with her and extend an
- 25:22Speaker 2: olive branch and of course Janelle is already dubious, and
- 25:26Speaker 2: so is Maddie. Maddie's like, do you think it's actually
- 25:29Speaker 2: because he wants to extend olive branch? Or is there
- 25:33Speaker 2: something else going on? And Janelle is kind of I
- 25:37Speaker 2: don't even know what the word is. She's not really
- 25:40Speaker 2: giving into what Maddie's saying. Mattie says something like maybe
- 25:45Speaker 2: it's just because he's no longer in your life, and
- 25:48Speaker 2: so he senses that and he now he wants to
- 25:50Speaker 2: emotionally insert himself into your life again to exert some control.
- 25:54Speaker 2: And Janelle kind of blows that off and is like, no,
- 25:57Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Yeah, she seemed a little ambivalent, and she seemed, I guess,
- 26:02Speaker 1: somewhat open to it. But the entire time I'm watching
- 26:05Speaker 1: this scene, I'm thinking to myself, well, did he ask
- 26:09Speaker 1: about Maddie and her kids? Did he ask about Micheltie
- 26:12Speaker 1: and their kids? Did he ask about Savannah?
- 26:15Speaker 2: Like?
- 26:16Speaker 1: Is he going to see any of his children? Here's
- 26:19Speaker 1: a lot of his children and grandchildren are there in
- 26:22Speaker 1: North Carolina? Has he mentioned any of them? And are
- 26:25Speaker 1: we going to get a scene where he actually gets
- 26:27Speaker 1: to see any of them? Because my sense of it
- 26:30Speaker 1: is that he's not going to see any of his
- 26:32Speaker 1: children or his grandchildren. My sense is that he does
- 26:34Speaker 1: not even care about it, And that's probably why Maddie
- 26:39Speaker 1: is looking the way she is in the scene, because, yeah,
- 26:41Speaker 1: we're talking. I'm talking to my mom about what's happening
- 26:44Speaker 1: in the relationship that she has with my dad, But
- 26:46Speaker 1: what about me exactly? What about me exactly?
- 26:49Speaker 2: And Janelle tries to speak to it a little bit
- 26:51Speaker 2: and says that it would take a lot of work
- 26:54Speaker 2: for Cody to actually repair his relationships with his kids,
- 26:58Speaker 2: And she asks Maddie some stupid question like, well, would
- 27:01Speaker 2: you accept it if your dad extended in all of
- 27:04Speaker 2: Branch And Matty's like, well, I would accept like forgiveness,
- 27:08Speaker 2: but I wouldn't accept him just extending in all of
- 27:11Speaker 2: Branch because I would have to see a pattern of
- 27:14Speaker 2: consistency for me to know that it's real and he's changed.
- 27:19Speaker 2: And seems like that sentiment is echoed across a lot
- 27:23Speaker 2: of the older kids and even some of the ones
- 27:25Speaker 2: that aren't talking about it publicly yet, But it seems
- 27:29Speaker 2: like that's the general vibe.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Because I think Mattie is suspicious that he's doing this
- 27:35Speaker 1: for the television show. I wonder if maybe Cody's a
- 27:40Speaker 1: little worried that some of these women might not want
- 27:44Speaker 1: to continue with the show, Like if the relationships are
- 27:47Speaker 1: so acrimonious between the og wives and Cody and Robin, like,
- 27:51Speaker 1: and if they're setting themselves up for financial success on
- 27:54Speaker 1: their own, like, well, maybe why would they need to
- 27:56Speaker 1: continue to do the show. And if they start dropping
- 27:59Speaker 1: out of the show, like Janelle or Mary or Christine,
- 28:02Speaker 1: where does that leave Cody and Robin? Where does that
- 28:05Speaker 1: leave the show? Maybe he's doing this to cover his
- 28:08Speaker 1: own ass and make sure the show can continue on
- 28:10Speaker 1: because again, they don't got jobs. No, this is their
- 28:13Speaker 1: whole entire livelihood. Yeah, and so it behooves him to
- 28:18Speaker 1: try and make amends to some degree with these people
- 28:20Speaker 1: so that they can continue to film content.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I just hate it so much.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Yeah, like manipulative.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Yes, it's so manipulative. And I wish TLC would be like, yeah,
- 28:28Speaker 2: we're firing you, Like that would be so great. It
- 28:30Speaker 2: would just be so it would be wonderful.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And the thing I think about sometimes is just to
- 28:35Speaker 1: compare and contrast between TLC and Bravo, And I know
- 28:38Speaker 1: I talk about it from time to time. But like
- 28:40Speaker 1: on Bravo, you've got this cast of characters on something
- 28:44Speaker 1: like a Real Housewives franchise. You've got some of these ladies,
- 28:48Speaker 1: they're cool, they're great. Some of these ladies they're stirring
- 28:51Speaker 1: the pot. And some of these ladies are straight up villains.
- 28:55Speaker 1: And the producers know this, and so we have a
- 28:57Speaker 1: certain season, but then season two, the producers are setting
- 29:02Speaker 1: up the exposing of the villain. Or there's like always
- 29:06Speaker 1: a takedown. Yeah, every season, somebody's getting taken down, and
- 29:09Speaker 1: usually for good reason, but you just don't see that
- 29:12Speaker 1: on TLC, Like Cody and Robin deserve a big takedown. Yeah,
- 29:18Speaker 1: but we don't see production making that happen. There's so
- 29:22Speaker 1: many clips, like we've said a million times, that they
- 29:25Speaker 1: could play right after we've got a scene of them
- 29:28Speaker 1: lying about something, but production doesn't seem to be interested
- 29:32Speaker 1: in doing anything like that. The show would be infinitely
- 29:35Speaker 1: better if they did. Infinitely you would get so many
- 29:38Speaker 1: more people watching if we knew that there would be
- 29:41Speaker 1: some kind of a reckoning for these people.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yes, because I'm sure that's why most of us are
- 29:45Speaker 2: even watching, is just to maybe see one day Yep,
- 29:49Speaker 2: Cody and Robin completely get decimated. It would be really great,
- 29:53Speaker 2: or like just.
- 29:54Speaker 1: To hear the facts about the lawsuit from Christine for childsport.
- 29:59Speaker 1: She hasn't mentioned word one about that. And we're all
- 30:02Speaker 1: interested the most thing, the most we're interested about. The
- 30:05Speaker 1: thing we're most interested about isy the coins, yep, the money,
- 30:09Speaker 1: and you just dance around it and you allude to
- 30:12Speaker 1: things and it's completely frustrating.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Well, and it's like we're gonna get instead of that,
- 30:16Speaker 2: we're going to get a scene of Cody and David
- 30:19Speaker 2: going go car racing, acting like Christine isn't suing his ass.
- 30:23Speaker 1: You don't have to be medicated for that. Like, I
- 30:25Speaker 1: don't think I can. I don't think I can make it.
- 30:27Speaker 1: I mean, I'm gonna have to go astroll. I have
- 30:29Speaker 1: to watch from a higher place, disattached, disconnected.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Higher place, I mean, honestly, because it's just going to
- 30:35Speaker 2: be so frustrating. But anyway, the only other thing that
- 30:38Speaker 2: came out of this scene with Janelle Maddie was that
- 30:41Speaker 2: apparently Cody did check on Janelle on the anniversary year
- 30:44Speaker 2: since death and on his birthday, which I was surprised
- 30:48Speaker 2: to hear about honestly that he thought to call her
- 30:51Speaker 2: about that. It's weird because it shows like there might
- 30:57Speaker 2: be like a tiny little atom of kindness in Cody,
- 31:01Speaker 2: or like a little bit of his heart left after
- 31:03Speaker 2: the rest of it is just decayed with fame and greed.
- 31:06Speaker 2: But it's just I don't know, Maybe it's another manipulation
- 31:10Speaker 2: tactic with him and her.
- 31:12Speaker 1: It's so hard to tell.
- 31:13Speaker 2: And then the last scene of the episode is Cody
- 31:16Speaker 2: traveling to North Carolina to go and apologize to Janelle,
- 31:20Speaker 2: And of course this is where we leave off. It's
- 31:22Speaker 2: the cliffhanger of the episode because we're going to get
- 31:24Speaker 2: to the actual apology next week, but which.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Is gonna be a nothing burger because Janelle is not
- 31:29Speaker 1: going to hold his feet to the fire and we're
- 31:32Speaker 1: not going to get what we want. But I did
- 31:34Speaker 1: have to ask you, did we know, like collectively that
- 31:38Speaker 1: Cody was that bow legged, Like when he's walking into
- 31:41Speaker 1: the restaurant. I don't know, he's completely bow legged. He's
- 31:44Speaker 1: got such a funny little Elvin.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Maybe he tries to walk like that because his
- 31:49Speaker 2: panties are too tight.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Probably that's probably why it is. His thong is all
- 31:52Speaker 1: the way up in the back.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, the butt plug that Robin put in and
- 31:58Speaker 2: it's a little too tight in there. But Cody goes
- 32:01Speaker 2: on some bs about how he wanted to apologize to
- 32:04Speaker 2: Janelle first because there's so much less toxicity with her.
- 32:07Speaker 1: And he's not ready. He's not ready to seek Christine exactly,
- 32:11Speaker 1: and Mary. He's not ready.
- 32:13Speaker 2: He says his heart isn't soft enough to talk to
- 32:16Speaker 2: Christine or Mary because there's so much animosity. It's like, okay,
- 32:20Speaker 2: well then then why are you doing this. I thought
- 32:22Speaker 2: this was a pilgrimage. I thought this was a sense
- 32:24Speaker 2: of purpose and you wanted to right your wrongs. But
- 32:27Speaker 2: now it's not soft enough and I'm still pissed at
- 32:30Speaker 2: I'm unsafe, i still fucking hate them. And it also
- 32:34Speaker 2: points to like how Cody has been able to get
- 32:38Speaker 2: into Janelle's head a lot more than the other wives.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Like he says something to the effect of, like, you know,
- 32:45Speaker 2: with Janelle, I know how to talk to her and
- 32:47Speaker 2: I know how to get through to her and we
- 32:49Speaker 2: can have a good conversation and it's much less toxic.
- 32:52Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah, because you know how to manipulate
- 32:55Speaker 2: her better than the other ones, or maybe she's a
- 32:57Speaker 2: little bit more docile than the other two.
- 33:00Speaker 1: I think that they were working together on Coyote Pass,
- 33:04Speaker 1: so they developed a bit of a rapport. And also
- 33:08Speaker 1: Cody knows that Janelle knows all the financial stuff for
- 33:13Speaker 1: the past however many years, and so maybe he's just
- 33:16Speaker 1: a little bit more careful generally in how he addresses Janelle.
- 33:20Speaker 1: And also I think there's a lot of Janelle not
- 33:22Speaker 1: giving a fuck. Yeah, like she doesn't want to fight,
- 33:24Speaker 1: She does not want to extend the energy to be
- 33:26Speaker 1: in some drama with little Cody Brown. So she's less
- 33:29Speaker 1: likely to be a Mary who we saw in the
- 33:32Speaker 1: mid season trailer who's sitting down at a picnic table
- 33:35Speaker 1: with him and she's like, well, are you going to
- 33:36Speaker 1: admit that you're toxic? Oh bitch, Like I can't wait
- 33:39Speaker 1: for that.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm living for that.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Janelle's not going to give any of that.
- 33:42Speaker 2: No, Janelle's gonna be very whatever about it. She'd be like,
- 33:46Speaker 2: I'm done, I'm gonna get the spiritual releef. Fine, okay, whatever,
- 33:49Speaker 2: I accept your apology by thanks for the free food, though,
- 33:52Speaker 2: Like that'll be Janelle. And then we have the previews,
- 33:55Speaker 2: so we have Mary and Amber going to that Vegas
- 33:59Speaker 2: dating event and was it a speed dating thing?
- 34:02Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't care.
- 34:05Speaker 2: And then we have Robin saying right after this scene
- 34:09Speaker 2: that she feels bad for people having to date in
- 34:12Speaker 2: this climate because things have changed so much.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's got to be so hard for those poor
- 34:17Speaker 1: ladies out there. This poor single bitch is single, dumb.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Oh my god, I can't relate. And then we have
- 34:23Speaker 2: Christine saying she doesn't trust Cody at all, doesn't want
- 34:26Speaker 2: to have to talk to him whatsoever, because I think
- 34:28Speaker 2: she got the invitation to his apology dinner with her
- 34:32Speaker 2: and she's just like, why don't trust you? Don't want
- 34:36Speaker 2: to talk to you. Cody says he's still in his
- 34:38Speaker 2: pilgrimage to apologize to all three of them, and then
- 34:42Speaker 2: Janelle at her apologies like why now is this for real?
- 34:46Speaker 1: Right?
- 34:47Speaker 2: And that's it?
- 34:49Speaker 1: That was it. Not a whole lot going on. Not
- 34:54Speaker 1: very much entered into the record. That was interesting in
- 34:58Speaker 1: the least.
- 35:00Speaker 2: And it's just if this really continues after this season,
- 35:04Speaker 2: I mean, what is there? And Mary should have a
- 35:08Speaker 2: boyfriend at that point, Yes, Janelle should either have a
- 35:11Speaker 2: boyfriend or be doing something interesting with the farm.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I'd love to see the documentation of her building her house,
- 35:19Speaker 1: like how she picked the plans and the appointments, and
- 35:23Speaker 1: like how she's going to decorate it. Like I'm totally
- 35:25Speaker 1: into that. I would you know, I'm mildly interested in
- 35:29Speaker 1: the development of Tita Farms and if that's going to happen,
- 35:32Speaker 1: And you know, I would really love to know more
- 35:34Speaker 1: about Maddie's life and Caleb. I know he's got some
- 35:37Speaker 1: health issues and there's just probably so much that she's
- 35:40Speaker 1: dealing with emotionally, Like I'd love to get into some
- 35:43Speaker 1: of that stuff. Like there's a lot there that they
- 35:46Speaker 1: could mine for really great content. You just have a
- 35:49Speaker 1: vote of no confidence with this particular production team because
- 35:53Speaker 1: why should they change. It's been working for them. The
- 35:56Speaker 1: people aren't going away. We're still watching, yeah, every but
- 35:59Speaker 1: they don't understand like you could have twice as many
- 36:00Speaker 1: people watching if there was a reckoning. As I said previously,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I agree, Well, is there anything else that we should
- 36:10Speaker 1: say to these beautiful raccoons before we get up on
- 36:13Speaker 1: out of here into the after party? Bitches?
- 36:16Speaker 2: Well, if you love our podcast, please go to your
- 36:18Speaker 2: favorite podcast potform and leave us a glowing five star review.
- 36:22Speaker 2: It's free and it really helps us grow the pod,
- 36:24Speaker 2: so we really appreciate it. Thank you very much.
- 36:26Speaker 1: We will be back later this week to talk the finale.
- 36:30Speaker 1: See some finale of Seeking Sister Wives, so make sure
- 36:34Speaker 1: to come back for that. And also we do want
- 36:36Speaker 1: to acknowledge that some of you have called in on
- 36:39Speaker 1: our speak Pipe and left some messages about Cody Brown
- 36:44Speaker 1: at all, and we haven't played them, but we're going
- 36:46Speaker 1: to start playing them next week, So get your calls in,
- 36:50Speaker 1: get your messages in. What are your hot takes? What
- 36:53Speaker 1: do you guys think of this apology tour? What do
- 36:55Speaker 1: you think about Jane. I actually really want to hear
- 36:57Speaker 1: from you guys, Yes, what you think about and now
- 37:00Speaker 1: colluding potentially with Cody Brown to maybe steal coyote pass
- 37:05Speaker 1: out from under Mary? Do you think that was a thing?
- 37:08Speaker 1: What do we think about Mary? What do you think
- 37:09Speaker 1: about Christine? We want to hear it. All you have
- 37:11Speaker 1: to do is go to Speakpipe dot com slash Reality
- 37:15Speaker 1: TV Cringe. You have up to ninety seconds to sound
- 37:19Speaker 1: off and we're going to start playing some of those
- 37:22Speaker 1: and just having little raccoon conversations about sister wives, we'd
- 37:26Speaker 1: love to hear from you. Okay, so until we're back
- 37:29Speaker 1: later this week, please do not forget that we have
- 37:31Speaker 1: nothing but love for.
- 37:32Speaker 2: You and peace. O night
