- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Vegas Reveal, presented by Level Up Law, starts now.
- 1:20Dayna Roselli: Welcome to episode 236 of Vegas Reveal.
- 1:24Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister here from Las Vegas.
- 1:28Dayna Roselli: And you know what?
- 1:29Dayna Roselli: We have tons of stuff to talk about as usual.
- 1:31Dayna Roselli: Every week as we start to put together the podcast, we always go, Oh, I forgot about that.
- 1:35Dayna Roselli: Oh, we got to talk about that.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: And so we've got a long list in front of us.
- 1:38Sean McAllister: Yeah, and there were definitely some late additions.
- 1:40Sean McAllister: Yes, for sure.
- 1:43Sean McAllister: But I think uh first of all, Dana, I welcome back to Las Vegas again.
- 1:48Sean McAllister: I think we're kind of nearing the end of the summer travel season, and you hopped out of town and were up in the Pacific Northwest.
- 1:57Dayna Roselli: I was.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: So not really for like a vacation for myself, but I went to a wedding reception.
- 2:02Dayna Roselli: My friends got married earlier in the year with just close family, their parents, and then they wanted to have like a party for friends.
- 2:10Dayna Roselli: So we did that in Seattle.
- 2:12Dayna Roselli: Um, and uh I literally went on like a Saturday morning to a Sunday night.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: So it was a quick trip.
- 2:17Dayna Roselli: So it was a quickie, quick trip.
- 2:18Dayna Roselli: But um, I was telling you that I had a couple takeaways because I always feel like when I go away, and this is a great thing, I have a new appreciation, not that I don't already appreciate, but like a renewed and rejuvenated appreciation of Las Vegas.
- 2:36Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 2:36Sean McAllister: Why?
- 2:37Dayna Roselli: Because I do feel like it's just, you know, bigger cities, uh, and you know, Seattle isn't like a huge city, but it's a big city, bigger city, you know, big city.
- 2:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 2:46Dayna Roselli: Um, so um, you know, bigger I it's funny how everything just takes a little longer to do, and how expensive it is to get around from place to place, and how unconvenient things can be as well compared to how we have it down here in Vegas.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: Example Airport Uber,$64.
- 3:10Dayna Roselli: However, when I looked, that was a$10 break at the time.
- 3:12Dayna Roselli: It's normally like$75.
- 3:14Dayna Roselli: So from the airport to the hotel,$75 for an Uber.
- 3:18Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 3:18Dayna Roselli: Not used to that.
- 3:19Dayna Roselli: Our airport's so close, right in the center of town.
- 3:22Dayna Roselli: Um, I obviously live that that way.
- 3:24Dayna Roselli: I don't think even if you came from Centennial Hills, that you would pay$75.
- 3:28Dayna Roselli: I don't think so.
- 3:30Dayna Roselli: Um, so that was expensive.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: Um, then to like hop to the reception seven minutes up the road, I guess.
- 3:37Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, that's a$20,$28 Uber ride.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: Ubers don't have like a spot where they really like you can just pull up.
- 3:47Dayna Roselli: It's you know, city streets.
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: So they're like when you the pickup spots like around the corner, down the road, you're trying to find the guy or girl, this, and then they cancel because it takes too long because you're trying to find them.
- 3:58Dayna Roselli: Happened to me like three times.
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: Um, so the Ubers were expensive.
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: Um, also, you know, I felt like just like everything was a project, and so I just felt like it is easy living in Vegas.
- 4:15Sean McAllister: Well, everything is so centralized here.
- 4:17Sean McAllister: Yes, it's like you are you're just here.
- 4:20Sean McAllister: It's not like other cities where there's sprawling suburbs and other areas to go.
- 4:28Sean McAllister: You know, there's the strip and downtown, right?
- 4:31Sean McAllister: Or you might go to Green Valley or Summerlin, right, or the southwest.
- 4:36Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 4:36Sean McAllister: And but everything's still right here.
- 4:39Dayna Roselli: It's just kind of right here, right?
- 4:40Dayna Roselli: It just seems that way.
- 4:42Dayna Roselli: Um another thing, I stayed at, first of all, an adorable hotel.
- 4:47Dayna Roselli: I loved this hotel.
- 4:48Dayna Roselli: It was a moxie.
- 4:49Dayna Roselli: There's other ones in other cities, loved it.
- 4:52Dayna Roselli: Um, we had a wedding discount because she um got a block of rooms um if you chose this hotel, um, but still was over$300 for one night.
- 5:03Dayna Roselli: And you know, I was thinking like, okay, I mean, you could stay at Bellagio for that midweek some weeks.
- 5:11Dayna Roselli: You know what I mean?
- 5:11Dayna Roselli: Like it's not like, and we have rooms in the 200s and 100s, and obviously it depends on weekend, weekday, and I get all that, but I'm thinking I was at a super cute hotel, loved it, but like you think about all the amenities that our hotel casinos have, right?
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: All the things like the pool and the shopping and the number of restaurants and all that kind of thing right there.
- 5:32Dayna Roselli: But so I was like, okay, I mean, you know, that's pricey for a hotel that's small and cute and boutique in the middle of Seattle, but um for one night.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: So I thought, okay, you know, usually it feels like Vegas is so expensive.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: Obviously, if you're staying at the win or something during a convention, it's it could cost you up into the 700.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: So I get all that.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: But so then I felt like that.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: Then also, um, here's a perk though.
- 5:58Dayna Roselli: You know, I took spirit, I talked about this on Twitter, and I think we talked about it in person, um, and maybe even on the podcast, but I got a flight one way nonstop, though, for$28.90.
- 6:10Sean McAllister: Wait, one way to go to the street.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: One way nonstop,$28.90.
- 6:14Sean McAllister: Under$30?
- 6:16Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 6:16Sean McAllister: Jesus.
- 6:17Dayna Roselli: I put it on Twitter, and some people were like, good for you, this and that.
- 6:21Dayna Roselli: That's cheaper than an Uber ride, which it was.
- 6:22Dayna Roselli: So it was cheaper for me to fly from Vegas to Seattle.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: Oh, sorry, well, home, because I took it home.
- 6:28Dayna Roselli: Seattle to Las Vegas, and it was for the Uber ride to the hotel.
- 6:32Dayna Roselli: Was like true.
- 6:33Dayna Roselli: So anyway, um, you can bring a personal item which fits a pretty decent size backpack.
- 6:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:39Dayna Roselli: You know, so there's room and it's great for a quickie.
- 6:42Dayna Roselli: Anyway, um, but I expected, you know, I've taken spirit before and it's been fine.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: People were on Twitter like, oh, I never take spirit, this and that.
- 6:48Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I mean, I think it really just depends on what situation you get in, what flight you're on, the people, the the what the situation, what kind of you know, crew you have.
- 6:58Dayna Roselli: I think that could be on any airline.
- 7:00Dayna Roselli: Because how many times do you see never fly Delta or don't fly southwest, or uh, spirit's the worst?
- 7:07Sean McAllister: Well, there's always disgruntled, disgruntled passengers for every single airline.
- 7:12Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 7:13Dayna Roselli: I don't think we can pinpoint it on one airline.
- 7:16Sean McAllister: No.
- 7:17Dayna Roselli: Spirit, brand new plane, great black, like leatherish seats.
- 7:23Dayna Roselli: I had no problem with it.
- 7:24Dayna Roselli: It was fine.
- 7:25Dayna Roselli: They even I didn't even pick my seat.
- 7:27Dayna Roselli: I didn't pay for that extra.
- 7:29Dayna Roselli: Because I was like, I don't care, it's a two hour two-hour flight.
- 7:32Dayna Roselli: Um they give me an N seat.
- 7:34Dayna Roselli: I was like 35D.
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 7:36Dayna Roselli: So I mean, like, I and every time I don't pick my seat, I always get a window or an N seat.
- 7:41Dayna Roselli: So I don't have a problem with it at all.
- 7:43Dayna Roselli: Anyway, and you know what?
- 7:45Dayna Roselli: They had uh like a security or assuming a cyber attack at that Seattle airport that day.
- 7:50Sean McAllister: Oh, that's right, when you were coming home.
- 7:52Dayna Roselli: And we were a little delayed at Spirit.
- 7:53Dayna Roselli: They moved our gate, but you know what?
- 7:55Dayna Roselli: They worked hard to get us all on the plane, get everything in order.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: We took off late, but oh well, they still got us out.
- 8:02Dayna Roselli: It wasn't like Spirit, just like because it's some budget airline that they're gonna be.
- 8:06Sean McAllister: All flights are grounded, we're not going anywhere.
- 8:09Sean McAllister: You guys are stuck here.
- 8:10Sean McAllister: Yes, they still made it happen.
- 8:12Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 8:13Dayna Roselli: So buy your ticket in advance.
- 8:14Dayna Roselli: I bought that ticket about a month and a half, two months ago, just because I knew it was coming up, and you know what?
- 8:21Dayna Roselli: It was$29, so totally worth it.
- 8:25Dayna Roselli: That's my Seattle takeaways.
- 8:27Dayna Roselli: End of story.
- 8:28Sean McAllister: I like the Seattle takeaways, and I like how uh it puts Vegas into perspective when uh our city is compared to to others around the world and the different hospitality levels and offerings that are available.
- 8:44Dayna Roselli: You know, and the weather was rainy one day and then beautiful and 72 and sunny the next.
- 8:47Dayna Roselli: You never know what you're gonna get.
- 8:48Sean McAllister: Sounds like Seattle.
- 8:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and if some people like that thing, that might be more their style.
- 8:52Dayna Roselli: That's fine.
- 8:52Dayna Roselli: I had a great time though, and the wedding reception was lovely, my friends were happy I was there.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: All that was worth it.
- 8:58Dayna Roselli: It just I just does make you think, hmm, you know, we really do have easy living in Vegas.
- 9:03Dayna Roselli: You wake up, the sun's shining.
- 9:05Sean McAllister: It is.
- 9:05Sean McAllister: I I had woke up and had my coffee out on the back patio this morning.
- 9:10Sean McAllister: Beautiful because it was gorgeous out.
- 9:11Dayna Roselli: I know, and like it's not rare besides like two months where it's like super hot, yeah.
- 9:17Dayna Roselli: For it not to be gorgeous out.
- 9:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and even in super hot, you can still sit in the patio in the morning.
- 9:22Sean McAllister: Oh, for sure.
- 9:23Dayna Roselli: It doesn't matter, it's nice and warm.
- 9:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, just put the misters on.
- 9:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 9:26Dayna Roselli: Yesterday it was warm, and you know, we were in a restaurant eating and it was freezing.
- 9:31Dayna Roselli: And my friend was complaining that, oh, it's hot out today.
- 9:33Dayna Roselli: And I think the only reason is because we were in the 90s the day before, so it felt so different to be at 101.
- 9:39Dayna Roselli: And then she was freezing.
- 9:40Dayna Roselli: And I and I we walked out and I went, ah, I'm like, now is it hot out?
- 9:45Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, Aren't you happy it's hot out?
- 9:47Dayna Roselli: She's like, I know, thank goodness.
- 9:49Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I see, you gotta step back and appreciate.
- 9:54Dayna Roselli: Anyway.
- 9:55Sean McAllister: Well, something else that we're appreciating right now is one of our iconic hotel casino resorts here on the Las Vegas strip, Paris, Las Vegas, is turning 25.
- 10:08Sean McAllister: And they've got a a bunch of celebrations going on, but I had a hard time believing that it's been 25 years that that Paris has I I guess the thing that got me when I got started thinking about it, like I've been here in Las Vegas for 20 years, and I didn't realize that that Paris was so new.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: I know, I agree.
- 10:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 10:33Dayna Roselli: Like, wait, it was only open for five years before we got here?
- 10:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 10:37Dayna Roselli: Interesting, right?
- 10:38Sean McAllister: It is.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: Uh so at any rate, silver anniversary for Paris, Las Vegas.
- 10:43Sean McAllister: We stopped over there to hear all about what they've got going on for this milestone.
- 10:49Sean McAllister: This is the 25th anniversary of Paris, Las Vegas.
- 10:53Sean McAllister: It's kind of hard to believe that the resort has been around for only 25 years because it's so iconic.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: That's absolutely right.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: For 25 years, the property has been transporting our guests from Las Vegas right to Paris with all of our iconic replicas.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: The Eiffel Tower is uh 541 feet.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: That's 5,000 tons of steel that went into building it.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: And at the time, 25 years ago, it cost 28 million dollars.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: We also have the Eiffel Tower viewing deck, 55 floors up with unbelievable views of the Las Vegas trip.
- 11:28Sean McAllister: I think there is a misconception with people that you can only go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower if you're going up for dinner or you have a reservation, but that's not the case.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: That's not no, we're actually doing specials uh for$25 tickets uh over the first weekend of the month to help celebrate our 25-year anniversary.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: There is a beautiful viewing deck up there, just absolutely breathtaking views of Las Vegas.
- 11:49Sean McAllister: For the the 25th anniversary, the silver anniversary, uh, you have a lot of new things for your guests to experience.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: We do, we are super excited with all the additions that we've made over the last recent years, coming up to our big anniversary here.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: We've got special team menus in all of our restaurants that are curated specifically by our celebrity chefs.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: So if you were to sit down with Martha Stewart, Need of the Bedford, this is the exact menu that she would serve you.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Um we also have those available at Nobu, at Vanderpop Paris, and uh we also have our brand new cigar bar, Monte Cristo, at Paris.
- 12:23Sean McAllister: And you have a new addition uh coming this fall, too, from Dominique.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: We do, we do, with world-famous French chef uh Dominique, bringing us the Cronut over here to Paris, Las Vegas.
- 12:34Sean McAllister: I mean, what's what's more fitting than the Cronut at Paris, right?
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: Uh it it's perfect.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be called Dominique Cancel Marche.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: It's a beautiful market-themed restaurant that's gonna have guests envisioning there, walking through the streets in Paris in the Parisian market.
- 12:48Sean McAllister: And in addition to the uh culinary offerings that you have here, you've got some new places for guests to stay.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: We just uh opened up our a hundred million dollar renovated Versailles Tower.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: It has 38 rooms that have a 55 square foot balcony, some of the most breathtaking views on the Las Vegas strip.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be the rooms to stay in for New Year's Eve, F1, 4th of July, and many, many more opportunities for customers.
- 13:13Dayna Roselli: And those rooms look spectacular and refreshed, and that balcony view is incredible.
- 13:20Dayna Roselli: There aren't a lot of balconies on the Las Vegas Strip.
- 13:22Sean McAllister: No, there aren't.
- 13:23Sean McAllister: You see some over at Cosmopolitan, uh, but really, other than that, they're few and far between.
- 13:31Sean McAllister: So it was a really smart idea for Paris to have these balcony rooms added over at that uh new Versailles Tower.
- 13:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 13:40Dayna Roselli: And they're gonna be in high demand.
- 13:42Sean McAllister: Oh, very high demand, without a doubt.
- 13:44Dayna Roselli: Like he was saying, too, you know, like the you know, the occasions too.
- 13:47Dayna Roselli: Fourth of July, F1, that kind of thing.
- 13:50Dayna Roselli: Where you hang on your balcony.
- 13:52Dayna Roselli: And but yeah, um, congratulations to Paris and and happy anniversary.
- 13:56Sean McAllister: Now over to the Tropicana.
- 13:58Sean McAllister: That site is continuing to be cleared away and uh demolished ahead of stadium construction over there for the relocation of the A's baseball team.
- 14:11Sean McAllister: Uh, but before that happens, those giant hotel towers over at the site need to come down.
- 14:18Sean McAllister: And we now know that an implosion is going to happen uh October 8th in the overnight hours from October 8th into October 9th.
- 14:29Sean McAllister: The actual implosion is going to be at like 2 30 in the morning on October 9th.
- 14:35Sean McAllister: Um but that date has just been set.
- 14:38Sean McAllister: We knew it would be uh uh like in the first week of October.
- 14:43Sean McAllister: So this you know falls in line with that that timeline.
- 14:47Sean McAllister: Uh this is an event that's going to be hosted by Bally's Corporation, which owns the Tropicana uh site, and also the A's.
- 14:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 14:58Dayna Roselli: And we could get a lot of messages and and text messages because you can text us, it's in our show notes.
- 15:03Dayna Roselli: There's a link asking about when is the drop going to be imploded.
- 15:06Dayna Roselli: So it's good to finally have a date, right?
- 15:09Dayna Roselli: But yeah, the um October 8th date is uh is a Tuesday, and then you know, October 9th, the 2 30 a.m.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: is a Wednesday morning.
- 15:17Dayna Roselli: So it's kind of a midweek late thing.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: And I did see some people online going, why is it so late?
- 15:23Dayna Roselli: This and that.
- 15:23Dayna Roselli: It's like, well, there hasn't been an implosion in a while, and if you don't know how it works, but when you know the building does implode, um, they try and minimize the dust as much as possible, but it's pretty dusty.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: It is, and so they try and do it at a time where that area is not gonna be really busy, you know, with with people touring the strip or or traffic and that kind of thing.
- 15:45Dayna Roselli: And so, you know, 2 30 of them in the morning is is when they're choosing to do it, but it's a thing and people come out for it.
- 15:51Sean McAllister: Oh, it's absolutely a thing.
- 15:52Sean McAllister: I think the last implosion that I attended in person was the Debbie the old Debbie Reynolds uh hotel and casino, uh right there, I think it's right on convention center.
- 16:06Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 16:06Sean McAllister: I remember going to that, and that also was a super late night thing.
- 16:12Sean McAllister: But um, even before that, when you know the the strip was being cleared away for the new mega resorts, I remember producing the news overnight back on the East Coast, and we would be all on the air in order to take uh the overnight implosion live from Las Vegas.
- 16:31Sean McAllister: So it would be early in the newscast, we'd have a big live event from Las Vegas and show the the implosion, and it was always it was always fun.
- 16:41Sean McAllister: People love seeing this stuff.
- 16:42Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they do, and they they make events out of it, you know, and and just like they're doing this firework and drone show on October 8th, so that Tuesday night leading up to it, um, this party is gonna happen, and I think that's really cool.
- 16:55Dayna Roselli: It's a celebration of you know, saying goodbye to something that was a you know huge integral part in making Las Vegas what it is today.
- 17:04Dayna Roselli: The Tropicana has so much history, so um, I think it's gonna be exciting, and and like you had mentioned, you know, I've covered many implosions because I used to be a helicopter reporter here in Las Vegas.
- 17:15Dayna Roselli: So I watched the stardust go down.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: We had a whole, you know, plan and coverage plan.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: We were live overnight, and um I think the Desert Inn, I think the Frontier, I've seen a lot of them, and it and I think you and I Frontier for sure.
- 17:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think you and I have talked about this before.
- 17:31Dayna Roselli: It was like before phones were a thing.
- 17:32Dayna Roselli: So I never like I think about all the phone video I would have had from the helicopter, you know?
- 17:37Dayna Roselli: I don't have nothing.
- 17:38Dayna Roselli: It's so weird.
- 17:39Sean McAllister: There are so many.
- 17:40Sean McAllister: Remember when the boardwalk came down right next to New York, New York?
- 17:44Sean McAllister: That was to clear away the space to build City Center.
- 17:47Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 17:48Sean McAllister: Um, yeah.
- 17:49Dayna Roselli: We I don't have anything on my phone.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: It's so weird.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: It was such like there is.
- 17:53Sean McAllister: There is like a blackout period of time where if you didn't have your like disposable Kodak camera or an actual little digital camera with you.
- 18:03Dayna Roselli: I mean, that's like a portion of time that's just you know phones are so good now how you can zoom in and everything.
- 18:10Sean McAllister: Portion of time that's not on the cloud.
- 18:12Dayna Roselli: Yes, it's not on the cloud, it's not on the cloud.
- 18:14Dayna Roselli: But I was up there, I did to get to visualize it, and the station has great video and the whole thing was live.
- 18:19Dayna Roselli: And um, but seeing it go down and then the dust would come up, it was it incredible to see.
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: And watching everyone fill the streets, it was blocked off.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: So, you know, you can go way back and watch it.
- 18:30Dayna Roselli: So you don't have to be really close, but to hear the kind of the dynamite and it it's it's a it's a fun thing, it happens in the blink of an eye.
- 18:38Sean McAllister: It sure does.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: You don't realize how quick, you know, and it's so neat the way that it comes down, and that's why they do the implosions, it's just so neat and efficient, literally goes like down in one, you know, in one take, but it's like pieces aren't flying all over the place.
- 18:52Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 18:53Sean McAllister: So and they uh at some point, usually what they do is they'll drape the building with some sort of a a cloth that kind of keeps the debris from you know shooting out and and becoming projectiles.
- 19:08Sean McAllister: But uh yeah, we're gonna be out there overnight watching the the building fall.
- 19:13Sean McAllister: I know we have uh some friends, and there have been people on social media already looking at uh rooms to book that have uh a great view of that site.
- 19:25Sean McAllister: So um it's happening.
- 19:27Dayna Roselli: Yeah, October 8th.
- 19:28Dayna Roselli: That's uh the night that you'll want to celebrate.
- 19:30Dayna Roselli: And if you want to actually watch the implosion, you'll either stick around or take a nap, get up, and go down to Las Vegas Boulevard at 2:30 in the morning on October 9th.
- 19:40Sean McAllister: And if you do want to watch this, uh you should probably plan ahead and think about taking October 9th off of work.
- 19:49Dayna Roselli: For sure.
- 19:50Sean McAllister: Because you'll be sleepy.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 19:51Dayna Roselli: If you work nine to five.
- 19:52Sean McAllister: If you work nine to five.
- 19:53Dayna Roselli: So many people work different shifts, right?
- 19:55Sean McAllister: Very true.
- 19:56Dayna Roselli: All right, let's talk Janet Jackson.
- 19:58Dayna Roselli: We talked about this on the television show, so I thought we did it on the audio podcast, but it came out right as we were about to post the last one.
- 20:05Dayna Roselli: So Janet Jackson getting a 10-show residency over at Resorts World.
- 20:09Dayna Roselli: We expect maybe that she'll, you know, announce more shows.
- 20:12Dayna Roselli: We aren't sure yet, but it all kicks off right around New Year's Eve, the night before New Year's Eve, and then New Year's Eve.
- 20:19Dayna Roselli: She's doing shows at Resorts World Theater.
- 20:21Sean McAllister: And then she's got shows that stretch through uh like Valentine's Day of 2025.
- 20:28Sean McAllister: So those 10 shows go from December through mid-February.
- 20:33Sean McAllister: Um, I have a feeling we're gonna be seeing a lot of Miss Jackson here on the on the strip.
- 20:40Dayna Roselli: Although she does do kind of her own pace.
- 20:42Dayna Roselli: So I mean, maybe she just wants to do 10, or maybe she'll announce more for, you know, like it could be a while, maybe next fall.
- 20:48Dayna Roselli: I mean, I don't know.
- 20:49Dayna Roselli: We'll see with Janet.
- 20:50Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: She's finicky, those Jacksons.
- 20:54Sean McAllister: But one thing she's finicky for a reason because her shows are so good.
- 21:01Dayna Roselli: They are.
- 21:01Dayna Roselli: We loved her show at Park MGM.
- 21:04Dayna Roselli: And if you want to see some video, we I found it on my phone and we have it in our television show.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: And it'll get you excited to go to the show.
- 21:12Sean McAllister: It will.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: Because it's hit after hit, big dance number, so cool.
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: And I say this all the time.
- 21:18Dayna Roselli: I do love her hair blowing in the wind, but she does it right.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: It's like such a thing.
- 21:23Dayna Roselli: It's such a it's such a Jacksony thing, you know?
- 21:27Dayna Roselli: It's just everything is dramatic, and I I love that kind of thing, and it's it's a great and and we don't know that it's gonna even be similar to that, but I'm assuming it'll be similar to that.
- 21:37Dayna Roselli: She's been on tour and people have been posting videos from that.
- 21:40Sean McAllister: Well, you know she's gonna have dancers.
- 21:41Sean McAllister: Yes, you know that the fans are gonna be blowing, right?
- 21:45Sean McAllister: Which is great.
- 21:46Sean McAllister: She you know that she's gonna bring like her most popular songs, which she has a ton of, by the way.
- 21:54Sean McAllister: A ton.
- 21:55Sean McAllister: As you sit and listen to sit and listen and watch and take part in one of her.
- 22:00Sean McAllister: Her shows, you're like, oh my gosh, she really has music that spans decades.
- 22:06Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:07Dayna Roselli: Sean, my phone is blowing up with everyone trying to be my plus one.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, I haven't even been invited, first of all.
- 22:16Dayna Roselli: But you know, if we are invited to cover it and see it, you know, a lot of times they're so kind to give us a plus one or a guest.
- 22:24Dayna Roselli: And so my phone phone is blowing up.
- 22:26Dayna Roselli: You're bringing me, right?
- 22:27Dayna Roselli: You're bringing me right.
- 22:27Dayna Roselli: I'm like, I don't know.
- 22:29Dayna Roselli: You guys better be really nice for the entire fall.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: And whoever wins gets to be the plus one.
- 22:34Sean McAllister: You should turn it into like a silent auction.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 22:37Sean McAllister: Everyone should individually submit a bid to be your plus one.
- 22:42Sean McAllister: And whoever has the highest bid gets to go.
- 22:45Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I just have to make sure that I want them there with me.
- 22:47Dayna Roselli: When I'm going to something that I love, I don't want to have to mingle and chit-chat and fill them in.
- 22:53Dayna Roselli: And I got we gotta be, you gotta be one of my close besties so that we can rock it out and stand up and sing the words and all of it.
- 23:05Dayna Roselli: But anyway, we don't know.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: We hopefully, and if not, we'll get tickets because I think I think we'll want to go to this one.
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: And um, I I think it's gonna be wonderful.
- 23:12Dayna Roselli: It's a great theater, and I also think you know her show will be perfect for this theater.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: It's really not a bad seat in the house.
- 23:18Dayna Roselli: And with Janet filling up that stage usually with the dancers and with the sets, I think even if you're set back, you'll be fine.
- 23:25Sean McAllister: Well, and that's the beautiful thing about that theater is that even the furthest seat from the stage is not far.
- 23:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 23:34Sean McAllister: It's like 150 feet or something to that effect.
- 23:37Sean McAllister: It's not uh it's not like other theaters that we have here in Las Vegas where the theater goes back a long way.
- 23:47Sean McAllister: And it's like a a low sloping floor all the way down to the stage.
- 23:51Dayna Roselli: The one at Planet Hollywood.
- 23:52Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 23:53Sean McAllister: That one's not the best theater, huh?
- 23:55Sean McAllister: No.
- 23:56Sean McAllister: That one could get a zhuzh.
- 23:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it could get like a big zhuz.
- 24:01Dayna Roselli: Save that conversation for another day.
- 24:03Dayna Roselli: Yeah, put a pin in that one.
- 24:05Dayna Roselli: But it does fit a lot of people, and it's good for that.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: Hey, uh, Scott McCreary is coming to Red Rock Resort, and this is going to be November 2nd, but you might want to get your tickets now.
- 24:18Dayna Roselli: They're very affordable.
- 24:19Dayna Roselli: 37 bucks plus taxes and fees, so that's good.
- 24:23Sean McAllister: This is I'm I have a soft spot in my heart for Scotty McCreary because I was covering American Idol when he won.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: So I was out there in LA.
- 24:32Sean McAllister: I was talking to him after all the shows, you know, like leading up to the finale.
- 24:37Sean McAllister: You have all these, you know, interactions with the contestants.
- 24:42Sean McAllister: And at that point, they're still just like these kids who are hoping to win a show.
- 24:47Dayna Roselli: And look at him now.
- 24:48Sean McAllister: And look at him now.
- 24:49Sean McAllister: Scotty has done very well.
- 24:51Dayna Roselli: And he's country music.
- 24:52Sean McAllister: He's country music.
- 24:53Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 24:54Sean McAllister: Him and uh Lauren Elena, who I believe was on that same season with him.
- 25:00Sean McAllister: Uh, she's done great in the country world too, and has been on tour with Carrie Underwood, another resident headliner over at Resorts World.
- 25:09Sean McAllister: Um, but love seeing Scotty doing great things.
- 25:11Sean McAllister: I actually just saw uh there was a headline that just came out recently that Scotty stopped his show.
- 25:18Sean McAllister: He's out on tour right now, and uh he saw a like a guy hit a girl out in the audience, and he like stopped the show and he was like, police, you need to get over here.
- 25:29Sean McAllister: And he was like, Come on, dude.
- 25:32Sean McAllister: Like at a Scotty McCreary show, really, yeah, like it's totally not that vibe.
- 25:38Sean McAllister: And so the headlines were coming out, like, oh, Scotty's a hero for breaking this thing up and getting the police involved.
- 25:46Sean McAllister: So I was glad to see that that he s saw something and said something, and I think that that's the best.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: When you love someone's music, you want to make sure that they're a good person too.
- 25:59Dayna Roselli: And I think that that just brings on more fans.
- 26:02Dayna Roselli: Yes, you know what I mean?
- 26:03Dayna Roselli: And so good for Scotty.
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you can see him at the Sandbar Stage at Red Rock Resort Saturday, November 2nd.
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: Let's get out and support Scotty.
- 26:12Sean McAllister: Hey, Wild and Out.
- 26:14Sean McAllister: I mean, I am sure that you guys have seen Wild and Out, at least as you've been flipping around the channel.
- 26:21Sean McAllister: You may have stopped and watched and been a regular viewer too.
- 26:26Sean McAllister: But this is Nick Cannon's show that's been on TV for a long, long time.
- 26:31Sean McAllister: And a live version of Wild and Out is now coming here to the Las Vegas Strip.
- 26:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, they're calling it the Final Lap.
- 26:38Dayna Roselli: And apparently it's one of the longest-running urban comedy shows in television.
- 26:44Dayna Roselli: And so they're bringing this on the road, which is what they do.
- 26:47Dayna Roselli: And this is going to be at MGM Grand Garden Arena this weekend.
- 26:51Dayna Roselli: So podcast drops on a Thursday.
- 26:53Dayna Roselli: It's actually Sunday, September 1st, Labor Day weekend.
- 26:56Dayna Roselli: If you want to go check it out, there are tickets available still, and it's an all-ages tour.
- 27:02Sean McAllister: So Wild and Out, man, what a run that show has had.
- 27:06Sean McAllister: Congrats to Nick Cannon.
- 27:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah, really.
- 27:09Dayna Roselli: The show is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
- 27:11Dayna Roselli: I've never seen it, so I can't give any thoughts on it at all, but I know that people definitely are fans and it's a whole thing.
- 27:18Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 27:18Sean McAllister: Hey, it wouldn't be around if it wasn't a thing with a ton of people following it.
- 27:22Sean McAllister: So uh so that's yeah, coming up this weekend.
- 27:26Dayna Roselli: All right, let's do some tips.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: Okay, we've got two tips this week.
- 27:32Dayna Roselli: One of them has to do with the price of drinks, so you'll want to stick around for that one.
- 27:36Dayna Roselli: But first, I want to talk about uh circa late nights at Legacy Club.
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: This is a new thing called bottles and beats.
- 27:42Dayna Roselli: Legacy Club is at the top of Circa, beautiful spot, gorgeous view of Las Vegas, super cool.
- 27:50Dayna Roselli: And they have started this new like weekend nightlife experience where they're gonna have DJs and they've added bottle service.
- 27:58Dayna Roselli: If you want a bottle service package, like you, you know, you had reserved the area, you know, you can get a bottle and mixers and all that kind of thing.
- 28:06Dayna Roselli: Apparently, um, if you order it, there's things like, you know, celebrations like the confetti and the sparklers and all that.
- 28:12Dayna Roselli: And this is gonna be at 9 p.m.
- 28:14Dayna Roselli: until close every Friday and Saturday.
- 28:18Dayna Roselli: It's brand new up there at Legacy Club.
- 28:20Sean McAllister: Yeah, so Derek Stevens bringing that party vibe that you normally find at nightclubs down on the Las Vegas Strip and bringing that to Legacy Club, uh, which by the way, if you've not been up there yet, uh Legacy Club has an indoor it's an indoor venue, but they have a huge patio that overlooks the downtown area.
- 28:40Sean McAllister: And it's a prime spot for the final fireworks show of the summer over at the plaza, which is this weekend as well.
- 28:48Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 28:48Dayna Roselli: If you want to see that, it's August 30th.
- 28:51Dayna Roselli: If you're in town and listening and you catch this podcast before Labor Day weekend begins, it's the last one at 9.15.
- 28:59Dayna Roselli: Uh, Murray Sawchuk gonna hit the start button for that one.
- 29:02Dayna Roselli: And, you know, when we talked to Jonathan Jocelyn in the past, he said they might make it a regular thing.
- 29:07Dayna Roselli: So we'll see.
- 29:08Dayna Roselli: Maybe they'll bring it back for the winter or we don't know.
- 29:10Dayna Roselli: But um, it's really cool to see.
- 29:12Dayna Roselli: I know where I live, I can sometimes see them going off and it's like, oh yeah, it's Friday night.
- 29:17Dayna Roselli: I'm always like, okay, that means it's 9:15 on Friday.
- 29:21Dayna Roselli: I better get a life and go do something, right?
- 29:23Dayna Roselli: It's the weekend.
- 29:24Sean McAllister: So, fireworks or not, uh, Legacy Club is going to be bringing their own fireworks to the top of Circa for their new bottles and beats weekend nightlife experience.
- 29:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and they have a whole schedule.
- 29:38Dayna Roselli: We don't have the September one yet, but so they have a different DJ.
- 29:42Dayna Roselli: It looks like a whole lineup every, you know, weekend.
- 29:45Dayna Roselli: So that's kind of cool too.
- 29:46Dayna Roselli: It's changing so you can return over and over.
- 29:48Dayna Roselli: And like you said, that patio is unbeatable, especially at night.
- 29:52Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 29:52Dayna Roselli: I think that, you know, I mean, with all the lights, it's just it's a great patio.
- 29:57Dayna Roselli: Um, the whole resort is 21 and over, so keep that in mind.
- 30:00Sean McAllister: Well, and Legacy Club is is just a really classy place.
- 30:04Sean McAllister: It is too.
- 30:05Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 30:05Sean McAllister: All right, now let's get to the rising price of drinks down on the Las Vegas strip.
- 30:12Sean McAllister: We were recently uh down on the strip for some work stuff, and we're like, you know what?
- 30:19Sean McAllister: Let's stop, let's chill out for a minute, because we've been going, going, going.
- 30:24Sean McAllister: Let's get an espresso martini to recharge so that we can keep going, going, going.
- 30:29Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 30:30Sean McAllister: But we were kind of shocked when we got the bill.
- 30:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 30:35Dayna Roselli: I mean, we had to sit down and do some work, so we were like, all right, and you know, it's hard because a lot of the like center bars and things like that in a lot of these resorts, you know, you don't really have like a nice coffee.
- 30:46Dayna Roselli: So we're like, okay, well, we'll get an espresso martini, right?
- 30:51Dayna Roselli: But um we were shocked at the price.
- 30:55Dayna Roselli: I used to think$18 was like the high end.
- 30:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, no more.
- 30:59Dayna Roselli: We got two espresso martinis, okay?
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: Get this, everyone, with absolute vanilla vodka.
- 31:07Sean McAllister: Uh-huh.
- 31:08Dayna Roselli: Kahloua coffee liqueur, vanilla syrup, cold brew coffee.
- 31:12Dayna Roselli: That is what was in the description.
- 31:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:16Dayna Roselli: It was$24.99 each, plus a$4 fee.
- 31:23Dayna Roselli: Tax and fee.
- 31:24Sean McAllister: Tax, yeah.
- 31:26Dayna Roselli: And so I opened up and I saw over$50.
- 31:31Dayna Roselli: And um, they weren't the best espresso martinis.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: They were kind of weak.
- 31:35Dayna Roselli: There was nothing really fancy with them.
- 31:37Dayna Roselli: They didn't look like perfectly stirred, evened out, like kind of pretty to look at or anything.
- 31:42Sean McAllister: Well, and listen, nothing against absolute, but that's not like a top shelf vodka either.
- 31:48Dayna Roselli: So we had to start, you know, we we just had to talk about this a little bit more because I think it does vary on where you go.
- 31:57Dayna Roselli: And I do feel like nobody ever wants that sticker shock.
- 32:00Dayna Roselli: And listen, you're in Vegas, you expect it to be expensive, pricier than probably where you live in if you're gonna go to your local bar at home.
- 32:08Sean McAllister: Right.
- 32:09Dayna Roselli: But that was a lot.
- 32:12Dayna Roselli: So I guess the tip that I would have would be ask how much it is.
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: There's nothing wrong with that.
- 32:17Dayna Roselli: Don't feel embarrassed to ask the waitress.
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: I was thinking about blah, blah, blah.
- 32:21Dayna Roselli: What's the price on that?
- 32:22Sean McAllister: Well, and when you go to some lounges, uh, the price isn't always listed.
- 32:29Sean McAllister: No, a lot next to the next to the drink.
- 32:31Dayna Roselli: It wasn't on here.
- 32:32Dayna Roselli: I don't even I don't know, is the price ever listed on these?
- 32:35Dayna Roselli: Well, maybe, maybe on the like a wine list where it'll be like buy the glass, buy the bottle.
- 32:39Sean McAllister: Right.
- 32:39Sean McAllister: Or there might be just like a general true like price of a cocktail at the top, and then you know, the individual varieties are just listed down below.
- 32:50Sean McAllister: Um, but we missed that before ordering.
- 32:53Dayna Roselli: We just thought okay, we're getting espresso martini with absolute, it can't be that expensive.
- 33:00Sean McAllister: Well, it was surprise, surprise.
- 33:03Dayna Roselli: Surprise, surprise.
- 33:04Sean McAllister: Um, so we use the company card for that one.
- 33:06Sean McAllister: Yeah, so just this is a a buyer beware kind of thing.
- 33:11Sean McAllister: Prices have been slowly creeping up, slowly and steadily creeping up on uh the price of cocktails.
- 33:22Sean McAllister: And I know we've talked in the past about rising prices here in Las Vegas, really across the board.
- 33:28Sean McAllister: Um, so that's something to keep in mind, something else to kind of stick in the back of your mind.
- 33:35Sean McAllister: If you go to a a show, if you go to a show that's at a one of the big theaters or residency show, something like that, um, and you go and get a drink beforehand, those are gonna be expensive too.
- 33:48SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 33:49Sean McAllister: Especially if you get a double that'll last you for the whole show.
- 33:52Sean McAllister: Uh if you get two of those, it is not unusual for your bill to be.
- 33:58Dayna Roselli: Are you Tom Jones?
- 34:00Sean McAllister: It's not unusual for your bill to be at least 80 freaking bucks.
- 34:12Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, that's funny.
- 34:13Dayna Roselli: No, it's true.
- 34:14Dayna Roselli: It's not unusual, it's normal, but it never used to be that way.
- 34:19Dayna Roselli: No, maybe at theaters it was always more a little bit more expensive, and that's fine.
- 34:23Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 34:23Dayna Roselli: That's the thing.
- 34:24Dayna Roselli: It's like we were just at the center bar.
- 34:27Dayna Roselli: I don't know why.
- 34:27Dayna Roselli: It felt like a crime.
- 34:29Sean McAllister: It did.
- 34:30Dayna Roselli: But we're not, you know, bashing Vegas prices all over the place because it really does kind of depend.
- 34:35Dayna Roselli: Just be aware that prices are fluctuating more.
- 34:38Dayna Roselli: Some places it's gonna be more expensive, some places it's gonna be exactly what you expect.
- 34:43Dayna Roselli: You know what?
- 34:44Dayna Roselli: Money's no object for you.
- 34:45Dayna Roselli: You know, delete this conversation.
- 34:48Sean McAllister: Well, I was just thinking, like, I could uh go down the street to the liquor store and like probably get all the ingredients I need to make one to make an espresso martini.
- 34:59Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 35:00Sean McAllister: And I could do that for less than 25 bucks.
- 35:02Dayna Roselli: Well, listen, after we left the tip on our$54 bill, I could have flown to Seattle and back nonstop on spirits.
- 35:10Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: A round trip airline ticket was the same amount as if I just wanted to like wait at the weather was nice in Seattle, right?
- 35:23Dayna Roselli: If I heard the weather was nice in Seattle, I wanted to land, take the ferry, see in the sights, and come back at night.
- 35:29Dayna Roselli: I could have done that.
- 35:30Sean McAllister: Man, listen, and listen, I think for premium, for premium cocktails that are specialty things, yeah, maybe.
- 35:40Sean McAllister: But it wasn't like a it wasn't like downtown cocktail room, like in downtown Las Vegas, where you have a mixologist there doing a special creation.
- 35:54Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 35:54Sean McAllister: Or, you know, like over at Wynn where uh Marina Mercer Barini, the property mixologist, where they have these super creative.
- 36:05Sean McAllister: I mean, this was a basic espresso martini.
- 36:08Sean McAllister: Are you freaking kidding me?
- 36:11Sean McAllister: $12 max is what it should have cost.
- 36:15Dayna Roselli: Yes, it's so true.
- 36:18Dayna Roselli: It really, it was tragic.
- 36:20Dayna Roselli: So anyway, we need to do a whole pricing round table with some of our friends in town that have lived here a long time.
- 36:28Sean McAllister: And for people who send us messages and tell us that we're always just sunshine, rainbows, and flowers.
- 36:36Sean McAllister: No, no, we call things out when we we sure do when we see the need to.
- 36:42Sean McAllister: And we saw the need.
- 36:43Dayna Roselli: We saw the need.
- 36:44Dayna Roselli: That's ridiculous.
- 36:44Dayna Roselli: It's ridiculous.
- 36:45Dayna Roselli: So chime in.
- 36:46Dayna Roselli: You can always text us, it's in our show notes.
- 36:48Dayna Roselli: There's a link.
- 36:49Dayna Roselli: Let us know your thoughts.
- 36:50Dayna Roselli: Uh, your phone number does not come.
- 36:52Dayna Roselli: The last like two digits do.
- 36:53Dayna Roselli: We don't know your name and all that kind of thing, so it's private.
- 36:56Dayna Roselli: We also can't text you back.
