- Rachel K: This is why you're not getting rich as a travel advisor. I am Rachel Kay, the host of Travel Agency in a Year, and it's day 94. We're going to talk about maybe why you don't have the right mindset, and today and tomorrow are going to be some tools you can use, really easy practices that you can implement that may or may not completely change your life. It will change your life if you follow it, trust me. All right, do you have even a solid definition of what quote unquote rich means to you? Even if you pray about it or you're like into manifestation, whatever type of thing, meditation, whatever, like have the mindset and you're just like, I'm gonna be rich, I'm gonna be rich, I'm gonna be rich. God, the universe, whatever it is that you're speaking to, to like bring this into your energetic field, they don't know what you mean by rich because, or he, she, whatever, it doesn't know what you mean, because you don't know what you mean. And there's, everyone has a different definition of wealth and being rich. It doesn't mean, it doesn't have to just mean, ⁓ I have all this money and I have all these designer things and ridiculously expensive vehicles. Trust me, I've been there before. I don't even know why it was like a brief, like three year period in my life where I think it's people I was surrounded by. They're all very like image obsessed and money obsessed. So was like, yeah, this is normal. It's not. I. have a completely different definition of what being rich is. And we all have a slightly different definition. If you're parent with young children or children in general, your definition might include having more time with your children before they grow up. and leave the home. might be you have a parent that you need to care for. It could be other family members like that is a big part of being rich in a lot of people's lives is like friends and family, good friends and good family. It could be like I want to have this much money in the bank. I want to drive this vehicle that's like $70,000. I want to have these luxury clothes. I want to go on all these trips. I must fly first class air on every single flight because I'm that special and important. That could be your definition of rich. I know I sound a little sarcastic with it, but because I was there once and I'm like, that is not my speed. It could be I have access to nutrition. foods or I have the ability to hire someone to cook nutritious foods for me. Like so many different things can be your definition of rich. It doesn't have to boil down to the number in your bank account. I mean that's part of it but that's not all of it. So moving on from my crazy rant. which if you aren't used to this podcast by now, I do this like every episode. Rumble on. I'd like for you to set a timer sometime today. for fifteen minutes and everyone has a timer on their phone there are no excuses find a pen and a notebook pad of paper back of envelopes I don't care you're probably not going to want the back of envelopes maybe the back of junk mail if you're trying to say well I don't have a notebook do not type this out do not write it with a little stylus on an iPad write it pen to paper I want you to take that 15 minutes and write down what. I'll call I'll call this person rich Rachel because I don't know your name. My name is Rachel so rich Rachel. Write down what rich Rachel that sounds weird looks and feels like. Because you don't know where you're going. If you don't know how to get there. So what you're doing is you're setting up. The day to day life. We're not just like, she or he wears this clothing size and drives this car. Like, that is part of it, but that's not all of it. What does Rich Rachel do day to day? What time does she wake up? Typically, does she sleep in or does she get up early? Also he, if you're guy listening, sorry. I'm doing this. I'm pretending that you're just me, OK? How does Rich Rachel present herself or himself? Like how do you present yourself when you are your rich self? What's your style? What do you do throughout the day? Do you work out? And if you do work out, what kind of workouts are you into? Is it just strength training? Is it a mix of strength and cardio? Is it like Pilates or is it like dance classes? Is it hiking? What does that look like? What are your hobbies? And you're probably like, hobbies? I don't have time for hobbies. Well, Rich U does and should. What is their spiritual or faith life look like? What type of shoes? What do they eat for breakfast? Or what do you eat for breakfast when you're rich? Lunch and dinner. Do you go to the movies? Do you go to the movies once a week? Do you go out to eat once a week? ⁓ Where do you like to shop? ⁓ everything everything how would you handle stress any kind of stress coming at you if you knew you had X amount of money in your bank account because that's like the first part is like ⁓ I'm rich I have all this money you got to start from there So you have to just think of like who you are without this worry of generating revenue because you're already doing it. How often do you work? What hours do you typically work? How do you work? Do you have people working under you? What does that look like? This isn't going to be like totally accurate, but I want you to just like 15 minutes. Really not not dream and make up stuff and be like I fly my private jet to Walmart. And then I take the environmental tax credit for reasons. I'm just making jokes about all the billionaires that are like, save the world. I'm going to take my private jet everywhere. I'm not talking like that. I'm talking like really sit down realistically. Get in touch with yourself like connect and think about how your day would go if you had unlimited money and or zero worries about any finances like take that out of the equation. How would you live your life if everything was just free or you had unlimited funds? OK. once you have that all written down. I want you to compare the daily activities to your real day-to-day life. What's the gap? ⁓ I can almost guarantee you in your dream wealthy life you didn't write down doom scroll on social media for four hours a day. That's what I would do. That's like probably the last thing on your mind. But I bet you if you really think about your day to day, there's a chance that you are doing that. I think that it is, you know how they were like, smoking's number one killer and then being sedentary and sitting's the new smoking. I think social media is going to be the new sitting probably in the next 10 years. It's fun. It's not that fun to sit. But it's fun, but too much of it can be bad. I can guarantee you that RichU isn't cutting people off in traffic and getting road rage because you're not worried about getting there specifically exactly on time. If you're late, you're late. If you're early, great. I bet you that the Rich version of you isn't like constantly going through and getting fast food or thinking about junk food is like just getting food in your belly. I almost guarantee you that the rich version of you spends more time outdoors than you do right now. And has far more responsibilities too. Think about that. Weird. Tomorrow's gonna be a much deeper exercise into this. I want to preface that before we move on. But as you look at like current you, which will be past you, and future you, which will become current you. and you see the gap, you're gonna probably get super overwhelmed and the limiting beliefs are gonna pop up and be like, you can never have that. What makes you think you deserve this? You're never gonna get here. Maybe not, but why not try? Don't let any massive changes intimidate you out of becoming the person that you want to be, the person you are meant to be. This is never going to be a quick fix. This is why this travel agency in your podcast is 365 episodes. I'm not going to tell you over the course of an hour or 45 minutes or whatever, this is solution to all your problems. Give me all your money. No. And this is why the Success Circle is a 12-month program, because no one can teach you to be a millionaire in six or eight weeks. You have to continue working constantly. not a quick fix. is baby steps. And I know everyone hates it. I know everyone hates it because people don't like change and they like the dopamine hit of something new. And they're like, okay, this quick fix will change everything. that you don't like change so you don't actually do anything. This is why I'm just like the little everyday, if you're in the success circle every week, if you come to the live Q &A's as a student of mine every week, keep going. It sucks. It's just like diet and exercise. Like if you want to hit the ideal body physically, you've got to take baby steps. Well I guess you could go get lipo or a bunch of GLP ones now. But that... We'll see how that turns out for everybody. ⁓ Anyway. Next step, want you to think about how much does conflict terrify you? Not with just the changes because future you is a lot different than current you and that is a conflict. So how much does conflict terrify you? not just with the changes, but you do need to realize that this is all the same thing. The changes that you need to take, baby steps, conflicts with clients, conflicts with colleagues, BDMs, suppliers, your host agency, just seeing social media comments and be like, that person's an idiot, and then getting angry for no reason. Does this type of thing cause emotional spiraling for you? Like suddenly getting angry, like what an idiot. I'm going to write the meanest thing. First of all, that's a time suck. Secondly, it's an energy suck. Thirdly, it's putting you at a lower vibration to get angry or annoyed or frustrated. Are you over explaining yourself when there's conflict? Do you change your standards to avoid drama with any of these people in your business specifically? Like do you bend over backwards for clients? Do you silently disagree with colleagues but agree with them to their face because you don't want to hurt their feelings? We're adults here. Feelings will get hurt. They can choose to be grownups about it or they cannot. Most BDMs are probably going to be adults about it. You know what I mean? Your host agency, so on and so forth. Think about all of that because you're going to have to be able to manage conflict. Think how you manage it now and kind of do an assessment of that because as you grow you're going to need to be able to manage conflict. probably better than how you are doing it now. And if you're like, well, everything's fine now, I really want you to get deep. Because there may be times where you're like, not assertive enough. And that's also detrimental, just as bad as someone like raging over pointless stuff on social media. Why? Why did I ask you to consider how you handle conflict? Because it points to not liking discomfort. And discomfort is where you need to be to grow. And I know you're thinking, who likes being uncomfortable? Again, like diet and exercise. You can be like, ⁓ it's impossible for me to exercise because I'm uncomfortable doing squats. No, it's because you can't manage discomfort. Like, that's the problem. Do one extra rep and build that strength and come back and be able to do two more the next time. Same thing with your business. Oh gosh, these notes I have, I'm not gonna go into it, it's a conspiracy theory about how much comfort and convenience there is in modern society. Just imagine, and I actually had a conversation with a friend today and she was like, oh man, wages need to go up, da da da da da, I'm like, well, and how much do they need to go up? Because I know everything is expensive right now. And also, much money are we spending on comfort and convenience? If you really wanted to go crazy homestead, living off the grid, I wonder how much that would cost. Anyway, I'm not homesteading. It's just like, do we need our cell phones financed? Do we need to have Wi-Fi? Well, we do, because most of us work from home. Do we have to have 17 streaming services? Do we have to order on DoorDash? There's a lot of things like that. Do we have to buy fast fashion? There's things to think about. Anyway, by avoiding conflict and discomfort, you're allowing anything that is producing conflict or discomfort, you're allowing that to control you because you're just running and hiding from it. You need to be disliked. You need to be misunderstood. And you need to not waver in the values of your business and where you want to go. People are going to get mad. It's OK. You're going to get mad. It's OK. You cannot let any of that throw off your balance on the tightrope that you're walking towards your dream life to future you. If one negative comment or an email even being ignored by other people upsets you now, imagine scaling that. Because future you is going to have to deal with a lot more if they have all this free time, but a lot of their work is going to be all the negativity scaled up. How well can you manage that now? Imagine if you had one bad email because you only have like maybe 12 bad trip or 12 total clients. Imagine if you had 1200 clients, that's 100 bad emails. If you cannot handle it emotionally now, then you are in an energetic mismatch for future you. So I would say just give yourself five seconds to kind of feel the feelings. And if you need to take a break from an email or something like that that's negative, ⁓ you can always just walk away. Go outside. Take a walk. Being outside and moving your body are like the best things for your mental health and they're free. ⁓ And then come back after 15 minutes and see if you're still reacting or if you're able to respond. And if not, then just give it some more time. ⁓ And learn to increase your capacity to be uncomfortable. Because you're gonna run into more problems and issues like as you grow in your leadership Even if it's just you but as you grow in your leadership as a travel advisor You're gonna have more discomfort and more conflict and how are you going to manage that and if you are not capable of managing that? Even if you're making a lot of money at that point or you are right now But you run into some like conflicts that you are having a hard time managing ⁓ It's going to take a dip energetically and money and energy are very closely related. So be careful. Remember, my crappy notes, remember there is no failure, only feedback. Keep that in mind. The next time someone's like, you're the worst and ruined my life, you're like, what do mean nobody says that to me? I don't know. I had. somebody saying that to me. think I mentioned this in yesterday's episode. A wedding guest who tried to blame me for an email where it's like, no, we can't do that three months prior. And then it's like ruin my trip. And I'm like, you knew this three months ago and you tried to con everyone. So it'll happen anyway. Tomorrow is going to be a much more in depth. Annual plan. ⁓ one last thing when you write that out if you really want it to become real quick If you I want you to read it out loud every single day keep it like by your nightstand Or somewhere first thing in the morning and read it all out loud and I'll explain why in tomorrow's episode Have a good day
