- 0:04Speaker 1: La baby, I neighver thought father, feeling good, feeling good.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I'm excited to reveal a hat later to don't do
- 0:12Speaker 1: it yet, but I'm excited pretty much.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Tell who it is from.
- 0:15Speaker 1: The well, I'm saying the front though, but yeah, yes,
- 0:18Speaker 1: we know who it is the logo. But it's fresh.
- 0:21Speaker 3: I was trying to have crafts hats, but can't hide.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Can't hide greatness, can't hide greatness.
- 0:30Speaker 1: So a couple of things. First off, this postseason is
- 0:33Speaker 1: the most watched since twenty ten so far.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Wow, that's good.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Baseball is in a good spot.
- 0:39Speaker 2: That's really good spot.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Good time for good time for a lockout, good time
- 0:44Speaker 4: for owners. They're making a lot of money. Good time.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Hold up, we're doing well.
- 0:49Speaker 2: We need to this up. That is true.
- 0:52Speaker 1: How about this one? I got one more trivia question
- 0:54Speaker 1: before we start. The last team to win a best
- 0:57Speaker 1: of seven series after losing the first two at home.
- 1:03Speaker 1: The last team to take a best of seven series
- 1:06Speaker 1: that could be in today's world in LS yes or
- 1:10Speaker 1: a world series DODG that they lost the first two
- 1:13Speaker 1: at home.
- 1:14Speaker 2: That's got to be a while back.
- 1:16Speaker 1: It's not in the twenty first century.
- 1:22Speaker 2: That's all. How about nineteen oh nine, kid, that's way back.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Let's go nineties.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Nineties break, go ahead and say ninety four some kidding? Yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 3: I'm not sure.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Nineteen ninety six, Braves, I mean nineties, right? World Series?
- 1:49Speaker 1: You got the thanks, you got it?
- 1:51Speaker 4: I thought. I thought the Astros lost. I mean the
- 1:54Speaker 4: Dodgers lost the first two games at home in that
- 1:58Speaker 4: in that World Series, we went to Houston, won all
- 2:01Speaker 4: three games in Houston, then came back home and lost
- 2:04Speaker 4: the next two. Did I not get that right? I
- 2:06Speaker 4: thought nobody that World Series won a game at home.
- 2:11Speaker 1: That does sound right? Did I get that info?
- 2:14Speaker 4: I don't know. Let's check it out. Let's have our
- 2:19Speaker 4: crack reporters.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Well either pretty far back.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I'm gonna look throughout the show again. I'll
- 2:28Speaker 1: look at who tweeted it out.
- 2:30Speaker 2: We got two chances at it, Yeah we do.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I'll look at who tweeted it out making me look
- 2:35Speaker 1: stupid or maybe not, maybe not anyway, Let's charge charge.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Let's charge the man presented by LIDS. Where we're at
- 2:50Speaker 1: with the NLCS. Kratz and I did a long postgame
- 2:53Speaker 1: show last night. But your thoughts, Lucky, I'm a moto.
- 3:00Speaker 3: You know, it's so funny. I'm listening to the broadcast
- 3:03Speaker 3: and I forget who was broadcasting. He's like, well, could
- 3:06Speaker 3: be like a gift and a curse.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:08Speaker 3: It could be when you know, you go golf and
- 3:10Speaker 3: you get that first birdie on the first hole and
- 3:12Speaker 3: then everything else goes to you know what, Well, guess what.
- 3:16Speaker 3: Milwaukee got that first birdie and that was it. They
- 3:19Speaker 3: double bogie triple bogied after that. I mean, ya, Mamoto,
- 3:23Speaker 3: my goodness, what an outing. I'm glad they let him
- 3:26Speaker 3: keep going. He deserved it. His splitter, it felt like
- 3:29Speaker 3: it got nastier and nasty as the game went on.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Giving up a first inning home run, Yeah it stinks,
- 3:34Speaker 3: but at the same time, for him, it's like Wow.
- 3:37Speaker 3: To come back and only give up two more hits
- 3:39Speaker 3: after that was absolutely incredible. And he didn't get fifteen strikeouts.
- 3:43Speaker 3: You know, it wasn't like he was super overpowering. He
- 3:46Speaker 3: got the outs when he needed to, and he threw really,
- 3:49Speaker 3: really well.
- 3:49Speaker 1: And Pat Murphy, the manager for the Brewers, thinks that
- 3:53Speaker 1: the team is chasing more than ever this season. So
- 3:58Speaker 1: he said, quote, we chased more than we've chased all year.
- 4:02Speaker 1: We've been the best team in baseball at not chasing,
- 4:05Speaker 1: these pitchers brought out the worst in US. Starting pitchers
- 4:09Speaker 1: for the Dodgers in these first two games have allowed
- 4:12Speaker 1: four hits. Milwaukee's got a total of five hits in
- 4:16Speaker 1: two games, two runs scored, four played appearances with runners
- 4:19Speaker 1: in scoring position, which all game in that ninth inning
- 4:21Speaker 1: of Game one, which they had a chance to steal
- 4:24Speaker 1: could have Now it looks like they really needed that
- 4:27Speaker 1: first games. So that's where they're at. Do you think
- 4:30Speaker 1: that this is just stupid good pitching? I like to
- 4:34Speaker 1: ask this question each time to Kratz.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Well, for me, yeah, I think it's a little bit
- 4:39Speaker 3: of all. I think it's a little bit of both.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I think you're right they're swinging outside the zone. I
- 4:44Speaker 3: think they're not getting the hits when they need them.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I think the Dodgers are also playing a little bit better, truthfully,
- 4:51Speaker 3: maybe a lot better. They're playing hard. I think the
- 4:54Speaker 3: focus on what the Brewers need to do is just
- 4:57Speaker 3: build off each other. Like you make a play home
- 5:00Speaker 3: run in the first inning, that's great, but you got
- 5:02Speaker 3: to keep tacking on. You got to keep moving forward.
- 5:04Speaker 3: And the biggest problem is.
- 5:06Speaker 2: They're not and when Yamamoto got going. It was pretty
- 5:09Speaker 2: much it.
- 5:10Speaker 3: I mean, I remember I stopped watching the game for
- 5:12Speaker 3: if I come back it's the ninth inning, I'm like,
- 5:14Speaker 3: holy cow, what that coppen here? So I think the
- 5:18Speaker 3: focus on the Brewers is forget about what just happened.
- 5:21Speaker 3: You know, things can happen in a hurry. It's a
- 5:23Speaker 3: big tidal wave of things that compiled for them to lose. Dude,
- 5:28Speaker 3: what's his name? Show Tony not even hitting. He finally got,
- 5:30Speaker 3: you know, an RBI single yesterday. That's awesome. That's a plus.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Reddy Freeman hit the home run. That's about it. Like,
- 5:37Speaker 3: you got two of their top dogs not doing pretty
- 5:39Speaker 3: much and you're still losing. That's the bigger problem I
- 5:42Speaker 3: have in this whole situation.
- 5:44Speaker 4: We got to sit here and say this pitching has
- 5:47Speaker 4: been elite. Yamamoto's probably going to be top three, if not,
- 5:51Speaker 4: I would say maybe top five in the Say Young
- 5:53Speaker 4: voting this year. And Blake Snell has two two Sy Young's,
- 5:59Speaker 4: he's won them and they're hitting on all cylinders right now.
- 6:03Speaker 4: So to me, we definitely need in the playoffs, we
- 6:07Speaker 4: need to give credit where credit is due, and both
- 6:09Speaker 4: of these guys have been dominant. Now people can say, oh,
- 6:13Speaker 4: you know, the Brewers are twenty ninth in barrel percentage
- 6:16Speaker 4: and they you know, but they scored the third most runs.
- 6:19Speaker 4: But they're in the National League Central. Let's make sure
- 6:22Speaker 4: we keep the same narrative for all things, because we
- 6:26Speaker 4: just saw the Blue Jays beat a Yankees team. And
- 6:29Speaker 4: every time the Yankees lose, whether it's to the Dodgers
- 6:32Speaker 4: in the World Series or in the Alds, oh, they
- 6:35Speaker 4: just too much swing and miss, not enough. You know,
- 6:38Speaker 4: they got to make contact. Well, the Brewers have made
- 6:41Speaker 4: some contact, I get it. They struck out seventeen times
- 6:45Speaker 4: against the starters in the last two days. But like
- 6:49Speaker 4: this is a team built for contact, it's not working.
- 6:51Speaker 4: So what's the common denominator? When a really big slug
- 6:55Speaker 4: team gets knocked out and a really good contact team
- 6:59Speaker 4: like Jays and the Brewers lose the common denominators they've
- 7:03Speaker 4: run off against some good pitching and no more of
- 7:07Speaker 4: A example of that was young Mooto last night. He
- 7:10Speaker 4: didn't shy away from the zone after that first first
- 7:13Speaker 4: at bat Homer the opposite field. He said, you know what,
- 7:17Speaker 4: I'm going to continue to throw my game and he did,
- 7:19Speaker 4: and look what happened.
- 7:23Speaker 1: This is for everyone listening right now. What are you
- 7:26Speaker 1: wearing right now? And why isn't it me on Deese Kratz.
- 7:31Speaker 1: It is time for everyone to upgrade and get that
- 7:33Speaker 1: super Soft micro Modal glory so good that you don't
- 7:39Speaker 1: want to take it off.
- 7:40Speaker 4: The reason I'm stonefacing you is because that's how soft
- 7:44Speaker 4: they are. It's ridiculous, Like I don't even understand what
- 7:48Speaker 4: kind of material it is. It's got to be something
- 7:50Speaker 4: space age.
- 7:52Speaker 1: For your butt signature super Soft micro Modal fabric, breathable, stretchy, unbelievable, cozy,
- 8:00Speaker 1: and now you can even get glow in the Dark
- 8:03Speaker 1: part of the Halloween line. Right now, as a listener
- 8:06Speaker 1: of FT, you can get cozy and spooky for less
- 8:08Speaker 1: with deals up to fifty percent off at me undies
- 8:11Speaker 1: dot com slash foul enter promo code foul. That's me
- 8:14Speaker 1: undies dot com slash foul promo code foul for up
- 8:18Speaker 1: to fifty percent off me Undie's Comfort that's made for fall.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Did you see him after the game? He went wow,
- 8:28Speaker 3: Like after they get the last strikeout, he turned. He's like,
- 8:30Speaker 3: didn't know what to do and he's like.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Wow, I've never been out there for the ninth thing.
- 8:36Speaker 3: I thought that was pretty unique. I wonder how many
- 8:38Speaker 3: times he's done it in Japan.
- 8:41Speaker 4: I'll look it up.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just curious because I don't think he has one.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah for him to say wow, like it was it wow?
- 8:48Speaker 3: Like holy cow, they let me go nine innings?
- 8:50Speaker 2: Or was it wow? This is my first ever nine innings?
- 8:53Speaker 2: You know, masterpiece?
- 8:55Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying Like that, That's where I'm
- 8:57Speaker 3: I'm confused. But to hear it in English, it was
- 9:00Speaker 3: and you could see his mouth go wow and like
- 9:02Speaker 3: clap his hand into his glove. I'm like, you know what,
- 9:05Speaker 3: that's pretty cool. He's you know, he's being human at
- 9:07Speaker 3: that same moment.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Over fifty starts in the big leagues, including postseason, and
- 9:11Speaker 1: he hadn't done it. I'm currently searching to see if
- 9:15Speaker 1: I can have.
- 9:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I have his MPOs and NPB stats. I'll look
- 9:20Speaker 4: it up. But I know Roki Roki had that no
- 9:23Speaker 4: hitter and then he almost threw it back to back
- 9:26Speaker 4: or back to back like perfect games or something like that.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I'll look it up.
- 9:30Speaker 1: He's got he's got I've got at least Game six
- 9:32Speaker 1: of the twenty twenty three Japan Series, which is like
- 9:36Speaker 1: the World Series out there, nine innings, fourteen ks. So
- 9:39Speaker 1: he's done it at least, let's see, he's had, he's had,
- 9:44Speaker 1: He's had quite a few out there. But here they
- 9:48Speaker 1: don't do that here. Not often we have it, but
- 9:51Speaker 1: not often postseason almost never. Last time do you know
- 9:54Speaker 1: the last time? Do you guys know this? I'm confident
- 9:56Speaker 1: on this one because I saw this from multiple reporters.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Sometimes I grabbed something from one or two that are
- 10:01Speaker 1: a little shy. But Jose the Dodgers at the last
- 10:05Speaker 1: Dodger okay, but the last pitcher in the playoffs to
- 10:10Speaker 1: go CG mhm. Twenty seventeen, Oh, Charlie more than.
- 10:19Speaker 2: ALC.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yes, it was actually twenty seventeen on the day of
- 10:23Speaker 1: Oh or no, not to knocker because that was that
- 10:28Speaker 1: would be on your side, Britlander.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Yeah, oh yeah, JB. Yeah, Visile, he crosses that.
- 10:34Speaker 1: You guys do that in seven ALCS Game two in
- 10:39Speaker 1: twenty seventeen. Yeah, they we faced them in the ALCS.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we lost them. We lost game one and two. One.
- 10:45Speaker 3: We would have been the ones that came back at
- 10:48Speaker 3: home or beat him whatever. Then we won three, four, five,
- 10:51Speaker 3: and then they won six seven. But yes, he threw
- 10:53Speaker 3: twice against us. I don't remember how went.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Was that when you hit the double that's stuck in
- 10:58Speaker 4: the top of the fest Yeah. Yeah, there was a
- 11:01Speaker 4: collector that told me.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I reached out to Yeah there was.
- 11:06Speaker 4: There was a collector that told me if I could
- 11:08Speaker 4: get that ball. Obviously it was after the game, if
- 11:11Speaker 4: I could get that ball out of the fence, he
- 11:13Speaker 4: would give me two hundred and fifty dollars for it.
- 11:15Speaker 4: I was like, what, now what he should who does that?
- 11:19Speaker 3: I would have said, twenty five hundred, easy money, let's
- 11:22Speaker 3: go famous baseball?
- 11:25Speaker 4: Was that was that Game two?
- 11:26Speaker 5: Though?
- 11:27Speaker 2: It's weird. Yeah, yeah, I think that was Game two.
- 11:30Speaker 2: We tied at one one, like in a six I
- 11:32Speaker 2: don't remember.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Yeah, so now what now? What for Milwaukee?
- 11:39Speaker 2: Good luck? I mean.
- 11:42Speaker 3: Serious, I mean I sit here and say that with
- 11:44Speaker 3: being all funny and stuff.
- 11:45Speaker 2: But yeah, they still have a chance.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Yeah, of course anything can happen, but it's it's going
- 11:53Speaker 3: to be a climb, it's going to become they have
- 11:56Speaker 3: game this Game three is the most important game in
- 11:58Speaker 3: their lives, and they have to find a way to
- 12:00Speaker 3: win it.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I think that's the biggest problem they have.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Game Game three is so big because Game four Dodgers
- 12:07Speaker 3: can pretty much do what they want. You know, they
- 12:09Speaker 3: can nitpick, you know, put whoever they want out there.
- 12:11Speaker 3: So Connie, Yeah, that's what I mean. Or do you
- 12:14Speaker 3: save them for another day? That's what I mean. Like
- 12:16Speaker 3: they could I'm not saying to do that, but they
- 12:18Speaker 3: can decide on really what they want to do.
- 12:21Speaker 4: So I got kind of eviscerated on Twitter for saying
- 12:26Speaker 4: saying what I said about how the Dodgers, well would
- 12:28Speaker 4: be that will be the Brewer's game plan. How do
- 12:30Speaker 4: they be glass now, you know, make them throw strikes
- 12:32Speaker 4: and all this stuff, and I said some other things
- 12:34Speaker 4: and fans are like, no way, not a chance. Like
- 12:37Speaker 4: this show gives you the player's point of view, and
- 12:41Speaker 4: if you were to ask the Brewers players to be
- 12:44Speaker 4: one hundred percent honest, they would tell you, yeah, we're
- 12:48Speaker 4: not out of this, like we one hundred percent got this.
- 12:50Speaker 4: We swept this team in the regular season. Is it
- 12:53Speaker 4: going to be tough? Yeah, you can't win four games
- 12:56Speaker 4: in one night, but you can win one each night
- 12:59Speaker 4: and play view when they're down. Is I'm not going away.
- 13:05Speaker 4: I'm not going away without a fight. So you're gonna
- 13:08Speaker 4: see some fight from the Brewers. And if you want
- 13:11Speaker 4: somebody on it, if you want to watch another show
- 13:13Speaker 4: where people are like, yeah, analytically, they just don't have
- 13:16Speaker 4: any chance here, And I just don't see how it's like,
- 13:20Speaker 4: don't don't come on a show. Don't watch a show
- 13:22Speaker 4: where players will give you the real view of what
- 13:25Speaker 4: they're thinking in this moment, like they're not quitting and
- 13:28Speaker 4: they're gonna give Tyler glassan now all he can handle.
- 13:33Speaker 2: For sure?
- 13:37Speaker 1: What would you tell the boys, Like, if you're Pat
- 13:40Speaker 1: Murphy right now, who is a wordsmith, he's really fine.
- 13:43Speaker 1: He is well covered as a manager, both for the
- 13:46Speaker 1: success that he's out on the field the last couple
- 13:48Speaker 1: of seasons, and he's immedia darling. But what do you
- 13:52Speaker 1: tell them?
- 13:53Speaker 3: I think I'll bring it back to when we were
- 13:55Speaker 3: down two o to Cleveland in seventeen. I think, you
- 13:59Speaker 3: know where, we probably should have won game too, if
- 14:01Speaker 3: we found a way to get you know, a review
- 14:04Speaker 3: in in time, which didn't happen. Whatever, we ended up
- 14:06Speaker 3: winning a series. Win the day, Just win the day,
- 14:10Speaker 3: go out and win the inning. Every inning, every day.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Don't worry about anything that's going on outside. Win today
- 14:17Speaker 3: and then we'll worry about tomorrow. Find a way to
- 14:19Speaker 3: win today. It doesn't mean you have to win by
- 14:22Speaker 3: the home run. Win scrappy, beat out a ball, make
- 14:25Speaker 3: the play, you know, get on base from the air,
- 14:28Speaker 3: steal a base something, find a way to win the game.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Cratzy.
- 14:32Speaker 4: If you have the If you have music on in
- 14:34Speaker 4: the clubhouse after a big win and you come in
- 14:37Speaker 4: and you're too you're down too, I'd say turn the
- 14:40Speaker 4: music on, turning music on. We're flying to LA. It's
- 14:43Speaker 4: time to get going. Just like just like Biggie said
- 14:47Speaker 4: going back to Cali.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Could have said it, I'm going going back back to CALLI. Yes,
- 14:56Speaker 2: all that good stuff.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Hey, we do this a lot in the offseason, but
- 15:01Speaker 1: we'll let it go into this current postseason as well
- 15:06Speaker 1: because it's becoming a big story. The Dodgers spend a lot,
- 15:09Speaker 1: the Brewers don't, the payroll disparity, the league and the
- 15:15Speaker 1: owners just love this conversation. What are your thoughts on
- 15:19Speaker 1: these two teams matching up? And I'm going to kick
- 15:23Speaker 1: it off, okay, because the top two teams in the
- 15:26Speaker 1: National League this year. Are the Brewers and the Dodgers, right,
- 15:29Speaker 1: they're the last two teams standing. The Dodgers spend a lot,
- 15:33Speaker 1: the Brewers don't. There are a lot of teams in
- 15:37Speaker 1: between the Dodgers and the Brewers that aren't there. So
- 15:40Speaker 1: there are a bunch of really really dumb teams that
- 15:43Speaker 1: spend a lot of money. And I have no idea
- 15:45Speaker 1: what they're doing because the way that people speak, you
- 15:48Speaker 1: would think that you just look at the sheet, look
- 15:50Speaker 1: at the payroll sheet, the top ten, and I think
- 15:52Speaker 1: half the teams didn't make it, and you just be like, Okay,
- 15:55Speaker 1: National League side easy, Dodgers, Mets, NLCS every single year.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Last year, actually the Mets look like crap. At the
- 16:02Speaker 1: beginning of the year, Yeah, got hot, made it to
- 16:04Speaker 1: the NLCS. But this year really really dropped the wallet
- 16:09Speaker 1: down and said let's go. They didn't make the playoffs.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we can have a whole hour session about that.
- 16:16Speaker 3: But I got to ask the question today about whether
- 16:21Speaker 3: it's good or bad for baseball that the Dodgers are winning,
- 16:23Speaker 3: and I said, I thought it was just fine. I
- 16:25Speaker 3: gotta be honest with you, I seeing what they have.
- 16:29Speaker 3: They still have guys that are injured that aren't even playing.
- 16:31Speaker 3: And that's the crazy part about the Dodgers. How good
- 16:34Speaker 3: this team really is. It goes to show you, Hey,
- 16:37Speaker 3: if I'm a baseball fan, I gotta respect what the
- 16:39Speaker 3: Dodgers are doing here. They're spending money on quality guys
- 16:42Speaker 3: and guess what happens. They're winning games. Will they win
- 16:46Speaker 3: the World Series? They might, they have the best chance.
- 16:49Speaker 3: But again, I think this is great. You want to
- 16:51Speaker 3: say the Dodgers do win Scotty next thing. You know, Like,
- 16:54Speaker 3: if I'm on the team, I'm like, that's the team
- 16:56Speaker 3: I want to beat. Now you get a little hungrier,
- 16:58Speaker 3: maybe you pick up a.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Guy here too.
- 17:00Speaker 3: But you know, everybody in this business has money when
- 17:03Speaker 3: it comes to being a president and all this kind
- 17:05Speaker 3: of stuff. They just don't want to spend. So I
- 17:07Speaker 3: don't feel bad for those teams. They have the money.
- 17:10Speaker 3: It's what their businessmen want to do about, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 3: when they want to get the better players.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Well, how about instead of looking at the actual dollars
- 17:19Speaker 4: that are spent, because yeah, they're never going to match up,
- 17:21Speaker 4: how about we look at the percentage of revenue brought
- 17:24Speaker 4: in compared to the salaries, and then we see see,
- 17:28Speaker 4: oh well, maybe this team could have spent a little
- 17:30Speaker 4: bit more like teams may not be able to spend
- 17:33Speaker 4: the same number, but percentage wise, maybe we got to
- 17:37Speaker 4: get a little bit closer to this. So if you
- 17:39Speaker 4: want to talk about salary caps, how about this. Let's
- 17:43Speaker 4: bring in the salary floor and that'll enhance a lot
- 17:46Speaker 4: of competition. If it's because of money, then make sure
- 17:50Speaker 4: your team is spending the same percentage as the Dodgers
- 17:53Speaker 4: are spending of the revenue that they bring in. Just
- 17:55Speaker 4: a percentage, that's it.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Also, you could just improve revenue sharing. You could say, hey,
- 18:01Speaker 1: here's another fifty mil to Milwaukee that we're all splitting
- 18:05Speaker 1: on TV money. There's plenty that already exists. The problem
- 18:09Speaker 1: is that process is broken because you don't have to
- 18:12Speaker 1: spend it on players. You can spend it on quote,
- 18:16Speaker 1: improving your team. There are ways as yeah, improve your
- 18:21Speaker 1: real estate. So we can talk more about that than
- 18:23Speaker 1: the off season. We have all off season long. I
- 18:25Speaker 1: don't like to get into that too much, but it
- 18:28Speaker 1: is standing out right now, being that you have the
- 18:30Speaker 1: Dodgers and the Brewers matched up like this. Anyway, thoughts,
- 18:35Speaker 1: obviously you know where to go let us know if
- 18:37Speaker 1: you're watching us live or later on, drop a comment

- 20:06Speaker 1: there's quotes coming out here from Scott Ayers, who runs
- 20:09Speaker 1: the front office for the Tigers, and the one that
- 20:12Speaker 1: stood out to many quote, how does a top eight
- 20:16Speaker 1: offense for five months become a bottom eight offense in September?
- 20:20Speaker 1: That's the question that really keeps me up at night.
- 20:24Speaker 1: They're indicating that they're going to make some changes this offseason.
- 20:27Speaker 1: That to me sounds like some potential changes to personnel
- 20:30Speaker 1: because they're frustrated about the finish line after a season
- 20:35Speaker 1: that started with so much promise and krats. They made
- 20:37Speaker 1: it to the DS, but still you can sense how
- 20:39Speaker 1: frustrated they are about the offense. And I feel that
- 20:42Speaker 1: frustration when I watched the Tigers. Aside from what like
- 20:45Speaker 1: two or three good innings in the playoffs, I.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Hope the organization looks at it like, well, why were
- 20:52Speaker 4: they successful? The first five months might be generous, but
- 20:57Speaker 4: first four months of season was it actual success or
- 21:00Speaker 4: were they kind of being held up on a thin
- 21:04Speaker 4: pedestal of not controlling the strike zone. There's general things
- 21:09Speaker 4: that work and don't work, and were you doing those
- 21:12Speaker 4: things in those first four months. If they were and
- 21:15Speaker 4: then they switched, then what happened? You got a pinpoint
- 21:18Speaker 4: exactly before you just go and say hitting coaches gone,
- 21:22Speaker 4: this guy gone, game planning gone, like whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 21:25Speaker 4: There was some success there and they were the best
- 21:27Speaker 4: team in the Central for a long time.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Tyler Kepner joining us right now. You can catch so
- 21:34Speaker 1: many great articles of his in the Athletic Tyler, great
- 21:37Speaker 1: to see you. First off, How is the postseason going
- 21:40Speaker 1: for you?
- 21:41Speaker 5: It's great, guys, good to be here. I've been following
- 21:44Speaker 5: the Mariners the whole way through. So let's do a
- 21:48Speaker 5: lot worse than hang out in Seattle for the month.
- 21:51Speaker 5: It's been fun.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I'm with you, okay, So give us the goods. You've
- 21:55Speaker 1: been with one team the entire postseason. Tell us what
- 21:59Speaker 1: you've seen from Seattle. What's something that maybe most of
- 22:02Speaker 1: the world doesn't know obviously, I'm sure you've covered it
- 22:04Speaker 1: in articles, but give us something good to kick this off.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Wow, well, something that most of the world doesn't know.
- 22:14Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 22:14Speaker 5: I mean I I go a lot of ways with that,
- 22:17Speaker 5: but it is it is just really impressive how much
- 22:21Speaker 5: they outpitch people. I mean, everybody kind of knows that,
- 22:23Speaker 5: and now we're seeing it. They just have more good pitchers.
- 22:26Speaker 5: And for them to go to Toronto and get half
- 22:29Speaker 5: their innings from starters who were on short rest is
- 22:33Speaker 5: just and win both games is amazing. I mean, you
- 22:36Speaker 5: would go out there and hope to get a split,
- 22:38Speaker 5: you know, you could. You could even envision that they're
- 22:41Speaker 5: tired and you come back and you're down oh two,
- 22:43Speaker 5: but you reset, they're up to to oh and they
- 22:45Speaker 5: got half their innings from starters on short rest. It's
- 22:48Speaker 5: pretty amazing. But it shows the depth they have. And
- 22:50Speaker 5: now they're getting Brian Wuback. So it kind of goes
- 22:53Speaker 5: to the philosophy they've been building here and sticking with
- 22:57Speaker 5: through a lot of you know, ups and down. They've
- 23:01Speaker 5: believed in it. Strike throwing is gonna work most of
- 23:04Speaker 5: the time, and here they are.
- 23:09Speaker 3: You talk about good hitting and you know, well actually
- 23:11Speaker 3: talk about good pitching. He brought up hitting a little
- 23:13Speaker 3: bit too as well. One of those hitters, Jhe Polanco
- 23:16Speaker 3: man just coming on so strong. You give him my
- 23:18Speaker 3: nickname here, I'll let you talk about that. Just give
- 23:21Speaker 3: a little insight of how good he's been in these playoffs.
- 23:24Speaker 3: And it seems like, you know, over the years, he's
- 23:27Speaker 3: been doing this for a long time now and doing
- 23:29Speaker 3: pretty well out it.
- 23:31Speaker 5: Yeah, Todd, it's kind of nice to see a player
- 23:33Speaker 5: who's been around a while, been just a solid, sort
- 23:35Speaker 5: of everyday guy for about eight or ten years, have
- 23:40Speaker 5: this kind of moment. I mean, three games in a row,
- 23:42Speaker 5: this guy is driven in the go ahead run. Plus
- 23:44Speaker 5: he hit two home runs off Schoogle in Game two.
- 23:47Speaker 5: You know, it's not like he's hitting four hundred, but
- 23:49Speaker 5: his his hits have all been monumental. So whenever they
- 23:53Speaker 5: have a clutch situation they need to take the lead.
- 23:55Speaker 5: You know, he's the guy, his switch hitter, so you
- 23:58Speaker 5: know he's hard to pitch too. He'd he's a great
- 24:01Speaker 5: pull hitter. He's just the kind of guy who you know,
- 24:05Speaker 5: sort of a glue guy on the team and Honestly,
- 24:07Speaker 5: he was their big move last offseason. They were very
- 24:09Speaker 5: quiet after a season where you know, they came a
- 24:12Speaker 5: little bit short of a playoffs, but it was a
- 24:14Speaker 5: real disappointment. He was their big move to bring him
- 24:17Speaker 5: back for one year in seven point seventy five after
- 24:19Speaker 5: him two thirteen last year. But they knew that he
- 24:23Speaker 5: was just really really physically compromised last year with that knee.
- 24:26Speaker 5: He tried to grind his way through it. He had
- 24:29Speaker 5: the potel attendon fixed up this this week last year,
- 24:33Speaker 5: and you know, he's been he's been terrific. He's been
- 24:36Speaker 5: the player they thought they were getting last year.
- 24:39Speaker 4: All right, let's reverse back to Game four. The end
- 24:42Speaker 4: of Game four of the Alds. The Tigers just beat
- 24:46Speaker 4: them pretty handily in a bullpen. That's from the bullpen
- 24:50Speaker 4: that's kind of tired. How looking forward likely was it
- 24:56Speaker 4: going to be that they were two to zero in
- 24:58Speaker 4: the Alcs going back home, considering they had to beat
- 25:01Speaker 4: the best pitcher on the planet for the fourth time
- 25:04Speaker 4: in one season and they couldn't out hit a team
- 25:09Speaker 4: In my opinion, that in the Tigers that just lost
- 25:12Speaker 4: their bats in the second half, like they like. These
- 25:14Speaker 4: two teams were gonna beat each other up in a
- 25:16Speaker 4: pillow fight, and then they were gonna get boat raced
- 25:19Speaker 4: by the Blue Jays. And now we're looking at a
- 25:21Speaker 4: team that's well rested, they're at home, and they have
- 25:24Speaker 4: a two to zero league.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Yeah, it's really and there were so many moments in
- 25:29Speaker 5: that fifteen inning game where it could have gone either way, right,
- 25:31Speaker 5: I mean, it was that close to having the Tigers
- 25:34Speaker 5: be the team and knocking out the Mariners, and the
- 25:36Speaker 5: whole narratives different. Seattle just wins a lot of those
- 25:40Speaker 5: three to one, three two games. It feels like they
- 25:42Speaker 5: played three two games almost every day. You know, there
- 25:45Speaker 5: was three to two in the last game of the LDS,
- 25:47Speaker 5: three to one in the first game, and then they
- 25:49Speaker 5: kind of boat race the Blue Jays at the end
- 25:51Speaker 5: of that second game. But you're right, it could have
- 25:54Speaker 5: gone either way. They looked at the Tigers and found
- 25:57Speaker 5: a team that was very much like them in the
- 26:00Speaker 5: sense that, you know, they do strike out some, but
- 26:03Speaker 5: they walk some. They pitch really well from the starting standpoint.
- 26:08Speaker 5: But yeah, they just were able to outlast him. And
- 26:11Speaker 5: maybe it's one of those fluky things of baseball, but
- 26:14Speaker 5: they were able to get that win in fifteen innings,
- 26:17Speaker 5: and then, like I said, go to Toronto and get
- 26:20Speaker 5: that kind of performance from Bryce Miller, right Like, I
- 26:22Speaker 5: think we forget sometimes how good Bryce Miller is because
- 26:25Speaker 5: his year was really choppy. I mean, he was injured twice,
- 26:28Speaker 5: you know, and when he was out there, he you know,
- 26:30Speaker 5: he had a five mid five Zra. But this is
- 26:34Speaker 5: a guy who was a budding superstar just last year
- 26:37Speaker 5: and now he looks like that pitcher again. Last game
- 26:40Speaker 5: against Toronto was his best outing of the year. He
- 26:42Speaker 5: was a little upset because, you know, in Game four
- 26:44Speaker 5: they pulled him at fifty five pitches. He felt he
- 26:46Speaker 5: was rolling. But as it turned out, they got a
- 26:49Speaker 5: little lucky because having only thrown fifty five pitches, he
- 26:52Speaker 5: was in a good spot to go six innings and
- 26:55Speaker 5: give them a really strong representative start. And not just
- 26:57Speaker 5: the six innings, but that kept the bullpen to where
- 27:00Speaker 5: they didn't have to use that extra guy in the
- 27:03Speaker 5: in that sixth And I feel like it's so important
- 27:05Speaker 5: right now. If you've get a manager who's willing to
- 27:08Speaker 5: let his starter go six seven innings, if he's if
- 27:11Speaker 5: he's feeling good, then you don't expose the bullpen as much,
- 27:14Speaker 5: guys get a little more rest. And so I cred
- 27:16Speaker 5: Dan Wilson for going with his eyes on what he
- 27:18Speaker 5: saw with Miller in game six, Game one and let
- 27:21Speaker 5: him go six in it.
- 27:23Speaker 4: All right, Obviously, there's only two series going on right now,
- 27:27Speaker 4: so America is locked into two series. Tell us something
- 27:30Speaker 4: about Josh Naylor that we don't see in day to
- 27:34Speaker 4: day games watching this series, watching this team play because
- 27:38Speaker 4: you're there every day. Tell us something that he brings
- 27:40Speaker 4: obviously offensively, stealing bases, all that stuff to this team.
- 27:45Speaker 4: But tell us something we don't know about Josh Nayler.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a great that's a great question, Eric, and
- 27:51Speaker 5: I was just texting with my college Jason Stark about that.
- 27:54Speaker 5: Josh Nailer is the kind of player the more you
- 27:56Speaker 5: watch him, the more impressed you are. He he just
- 28:01Speaker 5: he's always thinking, you know, like he makes a lot
- 28:04Speaker 5: of really smart plays in the field, and on the
- 28:07Speaker 5: basis he's had a couple of errors this postseason, but
- 28:09Speaker 5: he's also had to play. He had like a three
- 28:11Speaker 5: he had like a double play where you know, the
- 28:13Speaker 5: guy was on first and he had to tag the
- 28:14Speaker 5: right guy first, and he just execut he's always thinking.
- 28:18Speaker 5: You see that on the basis too, as you mentioned
- 28:20Speaker 5: the big stolen base against Google to you know, to
- 28:25Speaker 5: scratch out the one run they they were really going
- 28:27Speaker 5: to get off off him. So he's you know, he's
- 28:31Speaker 5: a he's a good hitter, not just a good power hitter,
- 28:34Speaker 5: right like I mean, he's he's got power. But he
- 28:36Speaker 5: hit two ninety five this year. It's really hard to
- 28:38Speaker 5: hit three hunderd now, and he came really close. I
- 28:42Speaker 5: just think he's a winner. I think he's a winning
- 28:43Speaker 5: player who really brings so much to that, to that
- 28:49Speaker 5: lineup to make it more legit, you know. And as
- 28:52Speaker 5: far as something that you don't know, I happen to
- 28:54Speaker 5: be sitting next to his family yesterday on the plane
- 28:57Speaker 5: and his dad was wearing a really sweet Gary Payton jersey.
- 29:02Speaker 5: So you know, they're really in the full Seattle Seattle
- 29:05Speaker 5: mode right now, the family. So it's cool to see
- 29:08Speaker 5: them along for the ride too.

- 30:15Speaker 4: Was that because there was no Shawn Kemp jerseys available.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 30:20Speaker 5: Maybe he's the They gotta love the Glove, I think.
- 30:24Speaker 5: I think the Glove is a little more like the
- 30:27Speaker 5: soul of those old Sonics teams. I like Camp too, though,
- 30:29Speaker 5: I mean.
- 30:32Speaker 4: McDaniel.
- 30:32Speaker 5: If you want to go back a little farther, I would. Okay,
- 30:36Speaker 5: you know, the X Man, Okay, I'm a little older, probably.
- 30:38Speaker 4: So the Super the SuperSonics. I like that. But the
- 30:42Speaker 4: other guy that they picked up at the trade deadline.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Is there any signs that Henneo Suarez is going to
- 30:49Speaker 4: break out of what the slump that he's in. I
- 30:52Speaker 4: don't want to say slump, or has he because it's
- 30:55Speaker 4: a he's a very flyball hitter. He didn't have a
- 30:58Speaker 4: great year when he came over to Seattle. It's forty
- 31:01Speaker 4: nine home runs, so I could really care less what
- 31:03Speaker 4: his what his short sample size, you know, but he's
- 31:08Speaker 4: a very flyball hitter coming home to a very unfriendly
- 31:13Speaker 4: flyball park. Is there any signs of him possibly breaking
- 31:16Speaker 4: out or where it's or is it just like, man,
- 31:19Speaker 4: I hope he runs into one.
- 31:22Speaker 5: That's kind of how I see it now, Like I don't.
- 31:24Speaker 5: I can't obviously see it with the eyes of a
- 31:27Speaker 5: of a hitter, but to me, it just looks like
- 31:31Speaker 5: it's a lot of big swings, and you hope he
- 31:33Speaker 5: runs into one. And the good thing about Seattle, I guess,
- 31:37Speaker 5: you know from what the numbers say is that you
- 31:39Speaker 5: can hit home runs here. I mean cal Raley, this
- 31:41Speaker 5: is his home ballpark, right It's there's no doubles and
- 31:44Speaker 5: triples though, It's like a lot of fly balls will
- 31:46Speaker 5: just hang up there and be caught on the warning
- 31:48Speaker 5: track or you know those fly balls, Like you said,
- 31:51Speaker 5: for a flyball hitter, if you really hit it, it's
- 31:53Speaker 5: going to go, but it's it's it'll get caught in
- 31:56Speaker 5: the air a lot if it's not really really well struck,
- 31:59Speaker 5: and then just become a harmless flyout. So you're seeing that,
- 32:03Speaker 5: you know, the flats a lot of strikeouts. There's a
- 32:04Speaker 5: lot of swinging myths there. But he's a He is
- 32:08Speaker 5: a guy though, right that, Like if you're a manager,
- 32:09Speaker 5: you always know where he is because he can do
- 32:11Speaker 5: so much damage. And he's had a good season, a
- 32:14Speaker 5: good series, good couple's series in the field too. You know,
- 32:17Speaker 5: he's a solid guy there, so you know he's he's
- 32:21Speaker 5: a big leaguer. I just felt like that there were
- 32:23Speaker 5: for so long that the Mariners just had a lot
- 32:26Speaker 5: of guys who weren't really legit everyday big leaguers in
- 32:29Speaker 5: that lineup. And over the course of last year when
- 32:32Speaker 5: they got a Rose Arena and Rojas and this year
- 32:35Speaker 5: with Nailor and Suarez, they just got a solid big
- 32:38Speaker 5: league lineup one through nine. And when you got Suarez,
- 32:41Speaker 5: Batton Low and then JP Crawcher about a ninth. That's
- 32:45Speaker 5: the lineup you have to respect all the way through.
- 32:48Speaker 3: I want to talk not only about the players there,
- 32:50Speaker 3: but I want to talk about the stadium. We're talk
- 32:52Speaker 3: a little bit about playing in Seattle. The atmosphere there
- 32:55Speaker 3: is that like a tenth man for this team, and
- 32:59Speaker 3: how excited there and say right now to see this
- 33:01Speaker 3: team get after.
- 33:02Speaker 5: Yeah, Todd, I I think it definitely can be. I mean,
- 33:06Speaker 5: you know, a lot of great atmosphere is in October
- 33:09Speaker 5: pretty much everywhere, but I think it is it is
- 33:12Speaker 5: special here. They have a really good they're engineer to
- 33:15Speaker 5: play well at home. You know, it's based on their personnel.
- 33:18Speaker 5: But this is a tremendous sports city and this venue
- 33:21Speaker 5: is it's my favorite stadium. Maybe I'm a little biased
- 33:24Speaker 5: because I was covering the team back in the nineties
- 33:25Speaker 5: of the year they moved here into the from the
- 33:28Speaker 5: Kingdome to Safecoast, so I saw the whole thing. But
- 33:31Speaker 5: it's the it's the only ballpark where the roof is
- 33:35Speaker 5: really just an umbrella.
- 33:36Speaker 2: You know.
- 33:37Speaker 5: It's it's so it always feels like Seattle. You can't
- 33:39Speaker 5: enclose it, so it's gonna be you know, it could
- 33:42Speaker 5: be cold, it could be you know a little that
- 33:45Speaker 5: that that heavy air, but it's gonna feel like seattle.
- 33:48Speaker 5: But you're always gonna get a game because because you
- 33:50Speaker 5: got the roof, and the roof helps that sound, you know, reverberate.
- 33:53Speaker 5: And you've got three you've really got like upper decks
- 33:57Speaker 5: in left field, center and right. You know that at
- 34:00Speaker 5: lefield upper deck is right over the it pretty much
- 34:02Speaker 5: overhangs the field just about centerfield the same thing, so
- 34:05Speaker 5: you've got that kind of surround sound effect with the roof,
- 34:09Speaker 5: and that's pretty cool. And they've you know, they've since
- 34:14Speaker 5: ninety five. Really, I mean their attendance that's going up
- 34:17Speaker 5: and down, but that ninety five team really cemented baseball
- 34:20Speaker 5: in this city. And when they're good like they are now,
- 34:24Speaker 5: I mean, these fans really really show out. So it
- 34:26Speaker 5: was the stating was shaking. I could feel a shake
- 34:30Speaker 5: in Game five. And they bring out the legends here,
- 34:33Speaker 5: and they've got a good amount of legends. You know
- 34:35Speaker 5: that Game five, see Griffy. We've seen Alvin Davis, mister Mariner.
- 34:40Speaker 5: You know, I'm sure each year will be back. I mean,
- 34:42Speaker 5: he's there all the time anyway, he's in uniform half
- 34:44Speaker 5: the time. He played in the He played in the
- 34:46Speaker 5: scrimmage games they had earlier this month, so you know, Felix,
- 34:50Speaker 5: I'm sure it'll be by maybe Randy. So they've got
- 34:52Speaker 5: a lot of a lot of cool alumni to to
- 34:55Speaker 5: blow the roof off it.
- 34:57Speaker 4: All right, I need your case for MVP or not MVP.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Well, I have a I do have a vote, so
- 35:06Speaker 5: I can't really say exactly, but I you know, I've
- 35:11Speaker 5: written books about baseball history. I feel like I have
- 35:14Speaker 5: an appreciation for historical feats and it certainly really catches
- 35:21Speaker 5: your eye when you evaluate a performance that we've never
- 35:25Speaker 5: seen before. Sixty home runs for a catcher, a switch hitter,
- 35:29Speaker 5: We've never seen anything like that. I mean, he took
- 35:31Speaker 5: down Ken Griffey Junior's Mariners record, Mickey Mantles switch hitting record,
- 35:36Speaker 5: and the record for catchers from every catcher who's ever
- 35:39Speaker 5: played baseball. So that's pretty significant. While doing it for
- 35:43Speaker 5: a playoff team and coming to the plate seven hundred times,
- 35:49Speaker 5: that's a lot. So it's it's it really makes you think.
- 35:53Speaker 5: So I Judge was incredible too. I go on on
- 35:56Speaker 5: about Iron Judge. It sawhim a lot in New York.
- 35:59Speaker 5: But cal Raley when you think about all that seven
- 36:02Speaker 5: hundred times the plate, more games caught than just about
- 36:06Speaker 5: anybody else, for a really good staff, excellent defense, and
- 36:10Speaker 5: all the home runs and production that gets your attention.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you. For me, they're both incredible seasons.
- 36:18Speaker 1: I don't think it's close because you do ultimately have
- 36:20Speaker 1: to make one choice. But whatever, it's not about me.
- 36:22Speaker 1: A great, great explanation, Tyler.
- 36:25Speaker 2: There so tell us without telling us, you chose cal
- 36:27Speaker 2: Me for sure.
- 36:29Speaker 1: But I don't have a vote, Tyler does.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Tyler tell us you basically told us who you picked for.
- 36:34Speaker 3: But that's okay, we we love you.
- 36:36Speaker 4: That's not true.
- 36:37Speaker 5: Hey, I mean, you know, I gotta dance a little bit,
- 36:40Speaker 5: but I'm not a good chancer, dude. So but yeah,
- 36:45Speaker 5: so no, it's uh, it's it's all good. It's it's
- 36:48Speaker 5: gonna be all of a race. It'd be cool if
- 36:49Speaker 5: it was a tie, but I agree. I mean, one
- 36:53Speaker 5: thing I will say about baseball writers is that if
- 36:57Speaker 5: historically we kind of do I think understand maybe it
- 37:01Speaker 5: because we've all read Eric's book, but we do sort
- 37:04Speaker 5: of understand the importance of catching and how rigorous that is,
- 37:11Speaker 5: and the toll that it takes in your body and
- 37:12Speaker 5: you're hitting and all that. So, I mean, I think
- 37:16Speaker 5: that's why you'll see Yati Molina be a Hall of
- 37:18Speaker 5: Famer and you'll probably Sea Buster Posey be a Hall
- 37:19Speaker 5: of Famer. I think there's a lot of respect for
- 37:22Speaker 5: what you catchers have to go through, and when you
- 37:25Speaker 5: do it on a high level like cal, it's it's
- 37:28Speaker 5: super impressive. And he's been great in the postseason too.
- 37:31Speaker 5: I mean, he's getting a lot of singles, which is
- 37:32Speaker 5: a little unusual for him, but he does have a
- 37:34Speaker 5: couple of big home runs and helping the pitching staff
- 37:36Speaker 5: at key moments.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Hey, last one for you, Tyler, because you are a
- 37:40Speaker 1: legendary historian. We've been debating this now for like thirty minutes,
- 37:44Speaker 1: and actually you can help me settle this. So the
- 37:48Speaker 1: most recent team to lose the first two games at
- 37:50Speaker 1: home and come back to win a best of seven series. Okay,
- 37:53Speaker 1: and I know your thing is world series where you
- 37:55Speaker 1: just basically know everything right and LCS. That starts to
- 37:58Speaker 1: get a little bit crazy, but I've Kratz came back
- 38:01Speaker 1: to me. Kratz twenty seventeen. They split the first two
- 38:03Speaker 1: at home, So that's off. Someone else came back at
- 38:06Speaker 1: me online about a couple of things that I went
- 38:08Speaker 1: back on, So you do you know what it is?
- 38:11Speaker 5: I mean, the six ninety six World Series was you know,
- 38:15Speaker 5: the Yankees lost two at home. Atlanta had just stormed
- 38:19Speaker 5: through the Cardinals the end of that series. They blew
- 38:21Speaker 5: out the Yankees twice. They never looked any better, and
- 38:24Speaker 5: then they go to Atlanta and lose three, and really
- 38:27Speaker 5: that shifted the whole balance of power in the nineties
- 38:30Speaker 5: from the Braves to the Yankees in those last four games.
- 38:33Speaker 5: So I think that was the last time. It also
- 38:35Speaker 5: happened in eighty five and eighty six, also we had
- 38:38Speaker 5: the Mets lost two at home, they won in seven.
- 38:40Speaker 5: The Royals lost two at home in eighty five and
- 38:42Speaker 5: they won in seven. So it did happen three times
- 38:45Speaker 5: in eleven years eighty five, eighty six, and ninety six.
- 38:48Speaker 5: But I think that's the only three times it's happened
- 38:50Speaker 5: in the World Series.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Bingo, that is correct. Those are the only three in
- 38:54Speaker 1: the World Series. And the last time that happened, even
- 38:56Speaker 1: extending it to LCS was still the ninety six Atlanta Braves.
- 39:00Speaker 1: So good stuff. I knew this was perfect timing that
- 39:03Speaker 1: he's the best at this. Tyler, you're the man. Thank
- 39:05Speaker 1: you so much for joining us.
- 39:06Speaker 5: Great to see you, all right, fell It's good to
- 39:08Speaker 5: see you too, and it's always always good to talk
- 39:10Speaker 5: to a Monco guy.
- 39:11Speaker 4: Eric. Yes, yes, sir, appreciate you. Although I don't I
- 39:15Speaker 4: miss having all your hats in the background, so yeah, maybe.
- 39:19Speaker 2: I have a few.
- 39:19Speaker 5: And they had a great store in in uh Toronto.
- 39:22Speaker 5: I got a call like a vintage Angels and the
- 39:24Speaker 5: vintage Oakland A's, the Swinging A's, you know, so that
- 39:28Speaker 5: was pretty cool. But they're they're over there, all right.
- 39:31Speaker 1: We'll get when he's back at home. Appreciate you, Tyler.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Thank you all right, let's slap and a quick shout
- 39:49Speaker 1: out to the hotel out in Milwaukee that scares everyone away.
- 39:54Speaker 1: To ask her. Hernandez added fuel to the fire that
- 39:56Speaker 1: he's not staying there. His wife was spooked by the ghosts.
- 40:00Speaker 1: That's the fists are out in Milwaukee. It gets a
- 40:02Speaker 1: ton of attention. I don't know if it's good or
- 40:03Speaker 1: bad attention. It's a little bit of both. Some people
- 40:05Speaker 1: that are into that stuff like to go there. For me,
- 40:08Speaker 1: the place is dated, so it's not for me. I
- 40:10Speaker 1: know there's some cool parts to it, but I'd rather
- 40:12Speaker 1: just stay in a nice, clean, fresh spot. That's me
- 40:15Speaker 1: and that's Mookie Bets too. He doesn't stay there, and
- 40:17Speaker 1: some others don't either. Sorry about it.
- 40:20Speaker 3: I've had I've had a weird problem there that you know,
- 40:23Speaker 3: TV just went on for no reason in the middle
- 40:25Speaker 3: of the night, and I wasn't happy about it.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Cried, that was nervous.
- 40:31Speaker 4: It's not a big deal.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Yeah, it is a big deal.
- 40:35Speaker 4: If you don't get your sleep, that's a big deal.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Now we're gonna do it. Hey, the boost that Perhap
- 40:47Speaker 1: was talking about is available. If you got a bet
