- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome, Mom's Welcome to Inside the Mom's Club. I'm your host,
- 0:03Speaker 1: Monica Samuels, and I'm here with my lovely co host,
- 0:06Speaker 1: Julie organd missed you. I've missed you too.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I mean, you're my roommate, you're my friend.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I give you a hard time. I mean, all of
- 0:17Speaker 3: those things you do.
- 0:18Speaker 1: You do, but we know we're good roommates. We're good roommates.
- 0:21Speaker 4: I know.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I mean last night you asked me to hit you
- 0:24Speaker 1: if you snored.
- 0:25Speaker 3: I knew it was coming, and I woke up at two.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Thirty am and I've been up ever since because that's
- 0:29Speaker 1: the life of a you know, middle aged mom.
- 0:32Speaker 3: So sure, I mean, insomnia is no joke right now,
- 0:36Speaker 3: it is no joke.
- 0:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I tried everything that I could think of to go
- 0:39Speaker 1: back to sleep, but every thought I could think of
- 0:42Speaker 1: was running through my mind, and I.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Just, yeah, how often do you wake up with not
- 0:46Speaker 3: being able to you know, insomnia?
- 0:48Speaker 1: Pretty much every night? But you know what, now, I
- 0:51Speaker 1: do have a product we'll talk about later that has
- 0:53Speaker 1: helped me to sleep. Oay, get back, So we'll get
- 0:55Speaker 1: to that.
- 0:55Speaker 2: We'll get to that.
- 0:56Speaker 1: But lately I think I've been suffering from a few things. Okay,
- 1:00Speaker 1: so this is my most concerning thing. And you're a
- 1:01Speaker 1: really good friend, so you can tell me what you
- 1:03Speaker 1: think about this.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Okay, I'm listening.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Is this dementia or is it? I meant more menopause.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Now I'll tell you. I'll tell you what happened or
- 1:11Speaker 1: what's been happening. So my son's friend was helping me
- 1:15Speaker 1: with something, and I said, Danny, I needed to go
- 1:18Speaker 1: into my office and go in there. And you know
- 1:21Speaker 1: that thing next to the door that has wheels on
- 1:25Speaker 1: it that you put stuff on. He said, oh, the cart.
- 1:29Speaker 2: The cart.
- 1:30Speaker 3: It has a word, the cart. Yes, So that is
- 1:33Speaker 3: the biggest thing for me. The brain fog, I am
- 1:37Speaker 3: why am I in this room? Why did I come here?
- 1:40Speaker 3: What's happening? And finding the words? So that's the biggest thing.
- 1:43Speaker 3: And so yesterday I was smart enough. I was with
- 1:46Speaker 3: all my Texas longhorned football friends this weekend. So I
- 1:50Speaker 3: fired up that text group and I said, girls, give
- 1:53Speaker 3: me your one thing. And of course my friend you know, responded,
- 1:57Speaker 3: I can only give one, and I was like, yes,
- 1:58Speaker 3: I don't have all day. Give me the one thing
- 2:00Speaker 3: that bugged you the most about this new stage of life,
- 2:04Speaker 3: and do you want to know what they are? Yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 3: what's the least Maybe probably one was like this spare
- 2:10Speaker 3: tire around my waist and I work out five six
- 2:12Speaker 3: days a week, and I say, well, don't work out
- 2:15Speaker 3: five six days a week if you're still gonna have Yeah, but.
- 2:19Speaker 2: That's only because I don't really exercise as much as
- 2:22Speaker 2: she does.
- 2:23Speaker 3: The other one was insomnia, and then, I mean the
- 2:26Speaker 3: other one was.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Obviously sweating through the sheets.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Not only the sheets, but what you're wearing and you
- 2:33Speaker 3: have to change in the middle of the night.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It's a whole thing.
- 2:36Speaker 3: And the last one I was surprised about adult acne.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Oh so I've been stealing my daughter's pimple patches after
- 2:44Speaker 3: I complained about how expensive they were and do you
- 2:47Speaker 3: really need that? And I've decided now that it's happening
- 2:49Speaker 3: to me that the whole family gets a patch.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Oh good, we're a house full of girls.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I think that's part of the list. But that probably
- 2:56Speaker 1: doesn't even cover everything.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's what I got.
- 2:59Speaker 1: But here's the good news. I believe menopause is having
- 3:03Speaker 1: its moment. I mean, think about it. Leanne Morgan's show
- 3:07Speaker 1: is big. I mean that's you know, just Melanie. Yeah,
- 3:13Speaker 1: the TikTok Instagram because she started the started the we
- 3:17Speaker 1: Just Do Not Care Club and it's for it was
- 3:20Speaker 1: originally for perimenopause and menopausal women. But then I got
- 3:24Speaker 1: in her TikTok Live and I asked the question, so
- 3:27Speaker 1: do you start caring again in postmenopause? And they said, no,
- 3:31Speaker 1: you still don't care.
- 3:33Speaker 3: So you actually like that, you know, if you're not
- 3:37Speaker 3: gonna like the rest of your life, well, you know,
- 3:40Speaker 3: care about the little things.
- 3:42Speaker 2: You just really don't you realize.
- 3:45Speaker 1: So anyway, it's just it's just nice to know that
- 3:48Speaker 1: we have something that that we the world canal discuss
- 3:52Speaker 1: and share and learn about and take the stigma off
- 3:55Speaker 1: of it. Because, you know what, I raising two sons,
- 4:00Speaker 1: the era of erectile dysfunction ADS. That's has been rough.
- 4:04Speaker 1: They have to hear about me. Now they can listen
- 4:07Speaker 1: about they can learn about hot flashes.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Listen.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I'm not a man hater, but if this was happening
- 4:11Speaker 3: to men, no sleep, sweating, you know, word finding, brain fog,
- 4:17Speaker 3: everything that I've listed, yeah, I mean, the world would
- 4:20Speaker 3: fall apart.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It really would.
- 4:22Speaker 2: That's just an opinion.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Well, I'm excited today that we have two ladies who
- 4:26Speaker 1: can share.
- 4:26Speaker 3: More about this is hortantnt God for them.
- 4:29Speaker 1: They are lifelong friends who are both successful producers, actors,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and writers, each in their own right, and they've joined
- 4:36Speaker 1: together to create, produce, and start a YouTube comedy series
- 4:39Speaker 1: that followed two friends in the throes of menopause called
- 4:43Speaker 1: The Third Act. Please welcome Jane Hijak and Sherrie Duran.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Welcome to Love ladies.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Ay here, it's so nice for you to be able
- 4:57Speaker 3: to talk to you.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Thank you for coming, and I love what you're doing.
- 5:01Speaker 1: So you have a the twelve episode comedy series on
- 5:06Speaker 1: YouTube and each episode is like two or three minutes.
- 5:09Speaker 1: It's fun to watch and you can that's one thing
- 5:12Speaker 1: you can binge watch in like an hour. I guess, yeah,
- 5:14Speaker 1: it's really great. How did you two decide to do
- 5:18Speaker 1: this together? And when I said to you were lifelong friends,
- 5:19Speaker 1: you were college roommates. I understand, so you've been doing
- 5:24Speaker 1: working together for a long time. How did this come about?
- 5:27Speaker 1: This new project?
- 5:29Speaker 6: So it's interesting. I'm shary by the way. I'm not
- 5:32Speaker 6: sure my name's up there, but I'm sharing Jean's over there.
- 5:35Speaker 6: We were college roommates. We worked together in California in production.
- 5:39Speaker 6: We had two different producing companies. We did small projects
- 5:43Speaker 6: together and COVID hit like the rest of us, what's
- 5:46Speaker 6: going to happen during COVID? And so we were wanted
- 5:50Speaker 6: to write something or do something, and I said, Jane,
- 5:53Speaker 6: why don't we write about what we're going through.
- 5:55Speaker 7: We're both going.
- 5:56Speaker 6: Through it and She's like no, And Jane had never
- 5:58Speaker 6: written before. It became a It kind of became a
- 6:01Speaker 6: camaraderie with us. I wasn't working as an actor anymore.
- 6:04Speaker 6: I just work in production. And she said, well, I'll
- 6:07Speaker 6: write for the first time if you act again. And
- 6:10Speaker 6: so we challenged each other and I don't know, like
- 6:12Speaker 6: twenty zooms later, we had the first season written and
- 6:15Speaker 6: we were ready to take off. And Jane, you can
- 6:18Speaker 6: take it from there and talk a little bit more
- 6:20Speaker 6: about what happened.
- 6:21Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Well, I've happened to watch Inside the Mom's Club as
- 6:25Speaker 4: well as my partner Sherry, and I know your motto
- 6:29Speaker 4: if you don't.
- 6:29Speaker 7: Laugh, you are going to cross exactly.
- 6:32Speaker 4: That sums this show up. If you want to learn anything,
- 6:37Speaker 4: don't ask us.
- 6:38Speaker 9: But if you want to open up the conversation and
- 6:41Speaker 9: laugh and maybe get a little more comfortable saying to
- 6:44Speaker 9: your doctor, I am really dry, and I don't mean
- 6:47Speaker 9: driving cracking down there.
- 6:50Speaker 7: What can I do? Because we will go through that.
- 6:53Speaker 7: You will see an episode of that.
- 6:54Speaker 4: You will see me looking right there at her and
- 6:58Speaker 4: telling her, yeah, you're really dry.
- 7:00Speaker 7: So it really does open up the conversation.
- 7:02Speaker 4: As I said, when I saw the motto of your show,
- 7:05Speaker 4: I go, oh, my.
- 7:05Speaker 7: Gosh, this is the third act.
- 7:07Speaker 4: And it is and the mom's ladies they'll say, I mean,
- 7:11Speaker 4: it is one of those things.
- 7:12Speaker 7: Misery loves company.
- 7:14Speaker 4: So if I can sit there and talk to Sherry
- 7:17Speaker 4: about my acne, which is so screwed up that at
- 7:21Speaker 4: age fifty three to fifty seven, I've had acne, and
- 7:26Speaker 4: then we can hot flash together and that and all
- 7:28Speaker 4: of a sudden, it's almost kind of enjoyable.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Oh I did that too, And so, oh, you guys
- 7:35Speaker 3: are so funny. How did you come up with the
- 7:38Speaker 3: short timing of your shows? I mean, because it's hilarious
- 7:41Speaker 3: and a short amount of time and you can relate
- 7:44Speaker 3: really fast.
- 7:44Speaker 2: So how did you guys think of that?
- 7:46Speaker 7: I'm going to take this. I'm going to take this
- 7:48Speaker 7: share because I know she's brilliant, and she'll say it's
- 7:51Speaker 7: it is a real.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Exercise to write a beginning, middle, and end in that
- 7:59Speaker 4: short of time.
- 8:00Speaker 7: Yeah, but I'm going to just tell you the real truth. Money.
- 8:03Speaker 4: You know, we knew we can't write thirty minute episodes
- 8:07Speaker 4: and because we literally thought we'd be holding our cell
- 8:10Speaker 4: phone and shooting these and then my husband started saying, wait,
- 8:13Speaker 4: I think one can move with you. So we had
- 8:15Speaker 4: all these ideas and story short somebody came.
- 8:18Speaker 7: On and said, we want to produce this.
- 8:20Speaker 4: This is great, and we are just so happy. It's
- 8:24Speaker 4: not a lot of money, but still it's not ours.
- 8:26Speaker 4: And then they pull out and it's ours, and so
- 8:29Speaker 4: we get our great friends in the business that are
- 8:32Speaker 4: working for a little I won't say to nothing because
- 8:35Speaker 4: they're working for little money. And this is what we created. Sarah,
- 8:40Speaker 4: do you want to go anywhere?
- 8:41Speaker 6: I mean no, no, that's really it. But I think
- 8:43Speaker 6: there was something interesting about can you arc a story
- 8:46Speaker 6: in that short of time and get an audience to
- 8:50Speaker 6: care about those characters? And that was kind of the
- 8:52Speaker 6: for me. That was kind of the fun is that
- 8:53Speaker 6: as a writer and the challenge Jane too, I was like, Okay,
- 8:57Speaker 6: we have to you know, the audience has to want
- 8:58Speaker 6: to care about these two women, and I think they do.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You want to cheer them on well, and I appreciate
- 9:04Speaker 1: you noting that our motto is if you don't laugh,
- 9:05Speaker 1: sometimes you're going to cry. We might have added misery
- 9:08Speaker 1: loves company too.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Because yeah, that's great.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I also noticed in your episodes a lot of them
- 9:16Speaker 1: occur in the bathroom, and so, I mean, I've Julie
- 9:21Speaker 1: and I have shared a lot of menopause issues together,
- 9:24Speaker 1: but never there well.
- 9:25Speaker 2: A bathroom, a king size bed. I mean, there's a
- 9:29Speaker 2: lot of sharing.
- 9:30Speaker 1: So is the is there a thought behind that or well?
- 9:35Speaker 6: So the characters in the show are Josephine and Lauren.
- 9:38Speaker 6: I play Lauren, she plays Josephine, based loosely on our personalities.
- 9:43Speaker 6: I don't think we strayed too far, A little far
- 9:45Speaker 6: and some I don't drink as much as Lauren.
- 9:47Speaker 7: I don't think.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I did notice that one that made me laugh.
- 9:53Speaker 6: Have them video And there's really no rhyme or reason
- 9:56Speaker 6: to it other than we thought the sound was better
- 9:58Speaker 6: in the bathroom, which did.
- 10:00Speaker 4: And the light I mean, because we thought two women,
- 10:03Speaker 4: where would it be and we have windows there. I
- 10:06Speaker 4: know everybody doesn't have windows in their bathroom, but I do,
- 10:09Speaker 4: and I am sitting in front of a huge window.
- 10:11Speaker 7: That's why I love so good.
- 10:14Speaker 10: I mean our show, Yeah, we could show it, so
- 10:17Speaker 10: there's really I mean, it was just a silliness of like,
- 10:19Speaker 10: where would these two women do this? And they're not
- 10:23Speaker 10: you know, they're not producers that they don't work in
- 10:25Speaker 10: how they're are two women that want to make a video.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Back, and Josephine is the lawyer. Is that right? Yes?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Well I can appreciate that because being an I'm an
- 10:35Speaker 1: recovering attorney here, so watching you go through it as
- 10:39Speaker 1: a lawyer, that's that that adds an extra layer of
- 10:42Speaker 1: comedy to it because lawyers are pretty buttoned up people,
- 10:46Speaker 1: so to be going through all this is pretty hilarious
- 10:49Speaker 1: and that's a lot of fun to it.
- 10:51Speaker 6: I home to that.
- 10:52Speaker 11: That.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Also, it's based on a friend of mine who is
- 10:55Speaker 6: a district attorney and she had that experience. So a
- 10:57Speaker 6: lot of our stories have come from different places. But
- 10:59Speaker 6: she is really really struggling in her job. And I
- 11:04Speaker 6: was talking to her one night over a glass of
- 11:05Speaker 6: wine and I was like, what what what do you do?
- 11:07Speaker 10: What?
- 11:07Speaker 6: She was Sherry, I'm you know, And so that's kind
- 11:10Speaker 6: of how that story. Of course, you know, we took
- 11:11Speaker 6: some liberties. Yeah, that's how it came to be.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah, brain fog is an attorney is not a good thing.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I'll tell you. That's a rough one. Yeah, not what
- 11:21Speaker 1: your clients want to see. Then you don't even you know,
- 11:23Speaker 1: you can't pull now.
- 11:24Speaker 3: So I was reading a little bit about the National
- 11:26Speaker 3: Menopause Show.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Which you guys are going to be at. Is that correct?
- 11:31Speaker 7: Yes?
- 11:32Speaker 2: Ya?
- 11:33Speaker 3: And so I feel like this is i mean, something
- 11:36Speaker 3: that every woman should know about, like because it's something
- 11:40Speaker 3: I mean tell us like it's open to anybody and everybody,
- 11:43Speaker 3: is it not?
- 11:46Speaker 5: Yes?
- 11:46Speaker 6: So so it's the National Menopause Show in Anaheim. They
- 11:51Speaker 6: had their first one in Toronto and it was made
- 11:55Speaker 6: by women for women, and I kind of reached out
- 11:59Speaker 6: to them and they reached back to me and they're like,
- 12:01Speaker 6: oh my gosh, we need comedy. You know, you just
- 12:03Speaker 6: want to see a bunch of doctors and kind of
- 12:05Speaker 6: go what's going on right, you know? And I said, well,
- 12:09Speaker 6: we can break the ice if you want that.
- 12:12Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 12:13Speaker 6: So it's going to be on October fourth and fifth
- 12:16Speaker 6: in Anaheim at the Anaheim Convention Center.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yes, and did read that.
- 12:19Speaker 6: Actually, we have a code for our show. It's called
- 12:22Speaker 6: the thhe the twenty. If you put the twenty, they'll
- 12:26Speaker 6: give you a twenty percent discount till October third on it.
- 12:29Speaker 6: But I also received a letter today. This is how
- 12:31Speaker 6: great this organization is. They're like, hey, if you have
- 12:34Speaker 6: women friends that can't even afford and it is very
- 12:36Speaker 6: many at the cost. I think it's like thirty five
- 12:38Speaker 6: dollars to get in. Plus we got a twenty percent
- 12:40Speaker 6: of discount. But she said, if you have friends that
- 12:42Speaker 6: can't go, tell me and I'll get your pass. Oh
- 12:45Speaker 6: these ladies care.
- 12:47Speaker 1: That is great.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I mean that.
- 12:49Speaker 3: I love that because like some people don't feel like
- 12:51Speaker 3: they can talk about it, they can ask about it,
- 12:53Speaker 3: and if you go there, you're like, oh, me too,
- 12:56Speaker 3: me too, me too, that's happening, and so you get
- 12:59Speaker 3: all your inform and you actually feel better when you
- 13:02Speaker 3: leave there, like something like that.
- 13:03Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. So I'm super excited.
- 13:06Speaker 1: No, I absolutely love the whole thing because there's so
- 13:09Speaker 1: many things as women that we don't talk about and
- 13:12Speaker 1: share with each other. For example, when I had my children,
- 13:16Speaker 1: no one told me about sleep deprivation. I mean, you know,
- 13:19Speaker 1: when you have a baby, you're you didn't realize you're
- 13:21Speaker 1: gonna be up for a year, right, he tells you.
- 13:23Speaker 2: No one says a.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Practice law with no sleep, kind of like when you're
- 13:26Speaker 1: in menopause, same sort.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Of thing exactly.
- 13:28Speaker 1: But so it's nice that they're sharing, you know, that
- 13:32Speaker 1: they have something like that where we can share it.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And I love that they're doing with comedy too, because
- 13:35Speaker 1: some of this you just have to laugh for your Yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you will cry for sure.
- 13:39Speaker 3: And do you guys think you've hit the mark? Like right,
- 13:42Speaker 3: the timing is really really good. You've got Okay, you've
- 13:47Speaker 3: got halle Berry. Let's just talk about that. Yeah, you've
- 13:51Speaker 3: got you guys. And then we also have I mean, Midi.
- 13:54Speaker 3: You can't forget them. They're just out there promoting like
- 13:58Speaker 3: you know, all of that stuff. So and you know,
- 14:01Speaker 3: I was very sad they took away some of my
- 14:03Speaker 3: hormone drugs this year, but eventually we'll get those back.
- 14:07Speaker 2: So I mean when you know, when.
- 14:09Speaker 3: You get diagnosed with breast cancer, that's right, Oh, that's right.
- 14:13Speaker 3: They take away some of that stuff. So, I mean
- 14:15Speaker 3: that is something that you know, I look forward to.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Hopefully one day, fingers crossed.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I can get back on track.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Yeah, welllet's couldn't get everybody together too and explore what's
- 14:26Speaker 1: I think different options are for, like supplements. I mean
- 14:30Speaker 1: you literally try everything.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 1: And my poor husband has to sleep in fifty eight
- 14:35Speaker 1: degree whether or you know now the temperature.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Mean in your house?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yeah, our house is like super cold.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Is that a fight in y'all's house?
- 14:43Speaker 7: Thank god, it's not in mine. It's kind of strange.
- 14:45Speaker 7: I that's sorry. I'm not gonna but I am ready
- 14:48Speaker 7: to rip this off.
- 14:49Speaker 2: They're fine with that, We're good with that.
- 14:52Speaker 4: My big thing, I'm not like hot all the time.
- 14:55Speaker 4: I've always been cold and that kind of stayed with me.
- 14:58Speaker 4: But trust me, I have the brain fat fog, I
- 15:00Speaker 4: have the crazy moods where my husband's probably like what
- 15:04Speaker 4: the heck all the time with me I had, you know,
- 15:08Speaker 4: it's just it's so much more the acne. I know
- 15:11Speaker 4: some of you are looking the hair loss word. There's
- 15:15Speaker 4: so many things, so that's not mine. So yeah, thank god,
- 15:20Speaker 4: he's not never been a hot hot hot you know,
- 15:22Speaker 4: so our temperature is pretty good.
- 15:25Speaker 7: What about you?
- 15:26Speaker 6: No, no, no, My husband he loves that. He could
- 15:29Speaker 6: cook a steak on the bed at night. That's what
- 15:31Speaker 6: he's tells me. I could cook a steak right now
- 15:36Speaker 6: because I'm just sweating. And then I have the belly.
- 15:39Speaker 6: I have the belly thing. I've never had a belly
- 15:40Speaker 6: in my life. And I work out. I don't work out.
- 15:44Speaker 6: I tried yoga, you know, diets, and and so I
- 15:47Speaker 6: just named her. I call her Betty, Betty the bitch,
- 15:49Speaker 6: Betty the bitch. Yeah, well, at least you carry on.
- 15:53Speaker 2: And I have to find a name.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I have been dealing with that. And my husband thinks
- 16:00Speaker 1: he's being kind about the whole. He said, you know,
- 16:03Speaker 1: you could just go get liposuction. Get that sucked right up.
- 16:07Speaker 1: And who wants to hear that you need LiPo suction?
- 16:09Speaker 1: I mean, that's not what you want to hear from
- 16:10Speaker 1: your husband.
- 16:11Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, husband, he has a little a little extra
- 16:15Speaker 6: girl in the in the bed with him, and just
- 16:17Speaker 6: keep that way.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that'll excite him.
- 16:20Speaker 2: That'll be like, oh, okay, okay.
- 16:22Speaker 1: So you all are going to have a season two heay,
- 16:25Speaker 1: and what's that going to look?
- 16:27Speaker 4: Like, okay, well we have had a season two, so
- 16:30Speaker 4: we're on one and two and season two we just
- 16:33Speaker 4: kind of meet the family and we see how we
- 16:35Speaker 4: spread the love with menopause, right, Cherry.
- 16:39Speaker 6: Yes, well it's so we really bring in husbands in
- 16:42Speaker 6: season two. It's out right now. We bring in our children.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Jane has a daughter in it and a son, and
- 16:48Speaker 6: how it affects all of the family family, and how
- 16:53Speaker 6: it's affecting men. And they are pretty funny. I will say.
- 16:56Speaker 6: We have Tom Lennon, who is from Reno ninety one one.
- 17:01Speaker 6: I don't know if you've seen that, very very funny actor.
- 17:04Speaker 6: I'm very fortunate. We have Michael Dorn from Star Trek.
- 17:10Speaker 6: We have Jen Ray from In the Middle who played
- 17:14Speaker 6: the neighbor. She's on it. We were so lucky people
- 17:17Speaker 6: who have watched it and said, this is funny.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I'm in yeah, I love it.
- 17:21Speaker 3: How do the men describe it for the listeners who
- 17:23Speaker 3: haven't seen it yet, Like, what do they say, I'm
- 17:25Speaker 3: dying to know the men?
- 17:27Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think they're I mean anybody, I'm not
- 17:31Speaker 4: even just Tom and Michael. But people who have watched
- 17:35Speaker 4: it said everybody, should you know that I opened themselves.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Everybody should be watching this because then you don't call
- 17:41Speaker 4: your wife or your partner whatever crazy you kind of go.
- 17:45Speaker 4: I have no idea, which trust me, we didn't either
- 17:48Speaker 4: a few years ago, did we. I mean, nobody talked
- 17:51Speaker 4: about menopause. And when Shary and I started this, we
- 17:56Speaker 4: got done shooting it at the end of September three
- 17:58Speaker 4: years ago. And I'm watching football and I saw a
- 18:01Speaker 4: hot Flash commercial and I said.
- 18:03Speaker 7: No way.
- 18:05Speaker 4: I mean, we are so on the pulse they are
- 18:07Speaker 4: talking and so, yeah, it's just and I think they
- 18:11Speaker 4: can appreciate, I said, And I think we talked about
- 18:14Speaker 4: this before the show, but you you see how quick
- 18:17Speaker 4: those commercials come with erectile dysfunction.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah quick.
- 18:21Speaker 4: We got that blue pill. We don't have any blue
- 18:23Speaker 4: pill or pink anything. It's about time it's being talked about.
- 18:29Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Absolutely, when you will were pioneers too, because you started
- 18:32Speaker 1: this a few years ago. And yeah, now we've got
- 18:34Speaker 1: Now we have Leanne Morgan and wet and this woman
- 18:37Speaker 1: Melanie here's really you know, she's just a million followers.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I think she literally said she got in her left
- 18:44Speaker 1: the grocery store, sat in her car and did this
- 18:46Speaker 1: one video crying about menopause, and it got home and
- 18:49Speaker 1: she had a million followers and there are women. They
- 18:52Speaker 1: they started chapters We Do Not Care Club. Well that
- 18:56Speaker 1: you are, by the way, welcome to join us in
- 18:58Speaker 1: our mom to Rage and the chapter you all are
- 19:01Speaker 1: welcome to join the Mom's Club too, because we need.
- 19:03Speaker 3: But I think it's key, like what you were saying,
- 19:06Speaker 3: Like they I mean, people say like all saying, oh god,
- 19:09Speaker 3: she's you know I like I said, we I have
- 19:11Speaker 3: two daughters, so they're going to go through it.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Girls.
- 19:15Speaker 3: So what I'm saying is that they're like, oh my god,
- 19:18Speaker 3: she's on the crazy train again, and they snapchat each
- 19:21Speaker 3: other and talk about me all the time. But they
- 19:23Speaker 3: also when I lived in Europe in eighty seven, I
- 19:26Speaker 3: am not allowed to give blood because that's when mad
- 19:30Speaker 3: cow disease was. So now they go back and forth
- 19:33Speaker 3: from oh, she's on the menopause crazy train and she
- 19:36Speaker 3: has had cow disease. So it's like it's important that
- 19:40Speaker 3: we don't you know, get you know, blamed about like
- 19:44Speaker 3: being crazy all the time.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Yeah, well the whole crazy thing is really yeah yeah, anyway,
- 19:50Speaker 1: well it is.
- 19:51Speaker 7: It's not alone.
- 19:52Speaker 2: We have not alone. We have women, yeah that are
- 19:54Speaker 2: with us.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Some zuber moms who have a lot of questions for
- 19:58Speaker 1: our guests. So welcome zoomer moms. Welcome to the Mom's Club. Whoo,
- 20:06Speaker 1: hello ladies, thank you for joining us. And let's start
- 20:10Speaker 1: with Mary Ann. Mary Anne, can you tell us your name,
- 20:13Speaker 1: where you're from, a little bit about yourself and do
- 20:15Speaker 1: you have a question for our guests?
- 20:17Speaker 12: I do, Sherry, I believe it was you. You did
- 20:20Speaker 12: some World War two documentary and something about Anne more Lindbergh.
- 20:25Speaker 12: So I'm wondering if if the comic part is relief
- 20:30Speaker 12: for your sit side of things that you like to do,
- 20:33Speaker 12: or do you just like both of them.
- 20:35Speaker 6: Oh, that's an interesting question.
- 20:36Speaker 7: You know.
- 20:36Speaker 6: It's funny because that was another reason Jane and I
- 20:39Speaker 6: did this project because we've always been cast as the
- 20:42Speaker 6: serious dramatic and I love comedy and people say you're
- 20:47Speaker 6: kind of funny, showy, like you should be doing comedy.
- 20:50Speaker 6: So I think it was a good release. And I
- 20:54Speaker 6: also think that in any show. I think even in
- 20:56Speaker 6: a dramatic, there should be comedy because that's like, I mean,
- 21:00Speaker 6: that is how we deal with it. But that's interesting
- 21:02Speaker 6: for seeing that so history Speaks, which I loved. I
- 21:04Speaker 6: did make a World War Two documentary and a huge
- 21:07Speaker 6: amount of ammar Linberg, who's actually way ahead of all
- 21:09Speaker 6: of us having these shows. She was writing books, you know,
- 21:11Speaker 6: back when women didn't write books.
- 21:13Speaker 7: Oh yeah, crazy and too.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Hey, Marian, tell us a little bit about yourself. Where
- 21:18Speaker 1: are you from?
- 21:19Speaker 12: And George Freeport, Louisiana, Northwest Louisiana.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Okay, great, well, thank you so much for joining us.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Lay yeah, Laura Lee, welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell
- 21:31Speaker 1: us your name, where you're from, and a little bit
- 21:33Speaker 1: about yourself, and do you have a question for the guests.
- 21:36Speaker 11: As Charley, thanks, it's good to be here today. It's
- 21:40Speaker 11: so nice to meet you all. I'm in East Tennessee,
- 21:44Speaker 11: just southside of Knoxville. I have two hounddogs that I
- 21:50Speaker 11: love and they smell bad. They're right here that the
- 21:57Speaker 11: I'm a University Tennessee fan. If you want me to
- 22:00Speaker 11: stay Rocky talk, I don't know if you're familiar.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Oh okay, now you love it, love it anyway.
- 22:09Speaker 11: Cars football is a big thing.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Here, that's right.
- 22:12Speaker 3: We've got our longhorns. You've got you know ut Knoxville.
- 22:15Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah, all right, then go for garde my question,
- 22:24Speaker 11: and you sort of touched on it a little bit
- 22:26Speaker 11: a while ago, some of the bathroom things that come
- 22:33Speaker 11: along with you know, it really started for me a
- 22:39Speaker 11: few years ago. But the incontinent, I mean, what the heck?
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a fun one, right, Oh yeah, I love it.
- 22:48Speaker 11: I mean, have you guys worked that into your it's
- 22:52Speaker 11: to talk about, right, So, I don't know, if you've
- 22:55Speaker 11: done an episode, maybe I need to go watch it.
- 22:59Speaker 7: I'd love you to see these because we do.
- 23:01Speaker 4: I remember one time Shary and I have social media too,
- 23:04Speaker 4: so sometimes i'd just be at the drug store and
- 23:06Speaker 4: It'll be the incontinence. There's you you've see now signs
- 23:09Speaker 4: for at the drug store and I'm just in that
- 23:12Speaker 4: in that area.
- 23:14Speaker 7: So yeah, sure, you do you have anything to add
- 23:16Speaker 7: with that?
- 23:17Speaker 6: We do if actually the end of season one, if
- 23:19Speaker 6: you watch, we do bring it up where I I
- 23:22Speaker 6: don't want to give it away, but I do have
- 23:24Speaker 6: to be somewhere, so you might want to check that out.
- 23:27Speaker 6: It's not a pleasant place, but it does happen, and
- 23:30Speaker 6: it is It's just it is a part of it.
- 23:32Speaker 6: It's part of estrogen. Again, we're not doctors. I can't,
- 23:35Speaker 6: but from all of our research and research for myself,
- 23:38Speaker 6: that's an issue that I deal with, you know. And
- 23:41Speaker 6: you know the kegels can you do?
- 23:42Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 23:43Speaker 6: And estrogen and putting that back in or or gestrian
- 23:46Speaker 6: or whatever it is that you find. You know, again,
- 23:49Speaker 6: you know, the biggest thing is finding that advocate doctor
- 23:52Speaker 6: that's going to help you. You know, who's gonna who's
- 23:54Speaker 6: going to help you. I went to FOURD by the
- 23:56Speaker 6: way before I found the doctor.
- 23:57Speaker 3: So yeah, that's a really good question. We really wanted
- 23:59Speaker 3: to know how people can like what you're like. We
- 24:02Speaker 3: know these are characters and everything, but how people can
- 24:04Speaker 3: prepare better or what you think? I mean, people really,
- 24:08Speaker 3: I think need to be with a menopause specialist. I
- 24:11Speaker 3: mean you can get so lost on what you.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Need to do. Agreed or what would you say to that?
- 24:17Speaker 7: Absolutely?
- 24:18Speaker 4: I mean I don't want to say anything against our doctors,
- 24:21Speaker 4: but most of our doctors that we've gone to have
- 24:24Speaker 4: studied so little about menopause. Now, for the past one
- 24:27Speaker 4: and a half two years, it's been like menopause heaven,
- 24:32Speaker 4: if that's what you want to call it. But now
- 24:33Speaker 4: it's a business, and now we are at the point
- 24:36Speaker 4: where we have to I think we through all the
- 24:39Speaker 4: crap because there's going to be a lot of quick this, this, this,
- 24:43Speaker 4: and you've got to find the doctor that has studied menopause,
- 24:46Speaker 4: which I have one.
- 24:47Speaker 7: I really think.
- 24:48Speaker 4: That's why my menopause has been much better than it
- 24:52Speaker 4: could have been, because I found her early and I
- 24:55Speaker 4: thought I was so ahead of the game.
- 24:56Speaker 7: I said, you know, I'm I'm just still ahead of
- 24:59Speaker 7: the game.
- 24:59Speaker 4: I want to get my testing done and I'm sure
- 25:02Speaker 4: I'm not going through it, and blah blah blah. I
- 25:04Speaker 4: take my test and she literally goes, I don't know
- 25:06Speaker 4: how you're functioning. You have like no estrogen, so I
- 25:11Speaker 4: don't even know. I mean, I think the next day
- 25:13Speaker 4: I've been hop flashed at it.
- 25:14Speaker 7: Whatever would have happened.
- 25:15Speaker 4: But again not We're all different and we all believe
- 25:19Speaker 4: different things.
- 25:20Speaker 7: I am taking.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Hormones and I know at one point it was the
- 25:25Speaker 4: worst thing ever.
- 25:26Speaker 7: And I know with you Julie, yeah, is because she's you.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Know, don't worry, I'm going to get them back.
- 25:31Speaker 1: I'm going to get them back.
- 25:32Speaker 4: But you know, I really do believe because I was
- 25:37Speaker 4: so early, well it doesn't sound like I was but
- 25:39Speaker 4: I was young when I kind of said, let's just
- 25:41Speaker 4: see what the levels are.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you really got in on that kind
- 25:46Speaker 3: of early. And this is the thing. People don't even
- 25:48Speaker 3: ask to check your levels. A lot of times people
- 25:50Speaker 3: are just throwing this, Like you said, you got to
- 25:53Speaker 3: weed out all the stuff, because people are throwing this
- 25:55Speaker 3: at you and that at you, and you're like, really,
- 25:57Speaker 3: what is.
- 25:58Speaker 2: It that I need?
- 26:00Speaker 3: That's true, like if you don't have blood work and
- 26:02Speaker 3: you don't do all that. I'm also a nurse, so
- 26:04Speaker 3: I mean I talk about this stuff all the time,
- 26:08Speaker 3: and it's important to find what is going to work
- 26:11Speaker 3: for you because none of us need to be miserable
- 26:13Speaker 3: or misery loves company.
- 26:15Speaker 1: But well it's tricky too because I had a hysterectomy. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:21Speaker 1: I'm a total total And they don't really follow up
- 26:24Speaker 1: with you very well.
- 26:25Speaker 2: And yeah, you should be just fine. You had a
- 26:27Speaker 2: hysterect to me, what's wrong with you?
- 26:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 6: And I think too, if you if you think about it,
- 26:33Speaker 6: you know, the third act of our lives, which we're
- 26:35Speaker 6: all in our approaching. You know, you're going to live
- 26:40Speaker 6: thirty years, forty years in that that third act perhaps
- 26:44Speaker 6: what is the quality of your life exactly? That's that's
- 26:48Speaker 6: the I think the primary question that I've learned all
- 26:51Speaker 6: this time. And then you can go and try and
- 26:52Speaker 6: find your people to make that happen.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's the third act? Is there the final act?
- 27:02Speaker 1: What's the next thing?
- 27:03Speaker 6: Is we twist it to something else?
- 27:05Speaker 1: Friendship that I was just curious.
- 27:08Speaker 4: I think it's death Monica's I mean, this is really
- 27:12Speaker 4: and it is such a lively, great thing. I mean
- 27:14Speaker 4: what people would ask us, well, what are you going
- 27:17Speaker 4: to do after menopause?
- 27:18Speaker 7: Well, first thing, it lasts a long time time. My
- 27:22Speaker 7: doctor says, it lasts forever. I mean, postmenopause is menopause.
- 27:26Speaker 4: And I know some of you women may have not
- 27:28Speaker 4: been having as you know, the symptoms, or maybe you
- 27:31Speaker 4: did and now they're easier, but I promise you they
- 27:34Speaker 4: can come back, and you are in menopause throughout your life.
- 27:39Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 4: So when they did ask us that, I go, well,
- 27:42Speaker 4: we're going to take this to that many years and
- 27:45Speaker 4: there's a lot of things. We just don't have to
- 27:47Speaker 4: talk about symptoms, but we can talk about kids, sleep,
- 27:49Speaker 4: and we can talk about divorce. We can talk about
- 27:51Speaker 4: changing of careers. There's so much that we women that
- 27:55Speaker 4: have been pushed under the rug. It's like we can't
- 27:58Speaker 4: produce children anymore, so.
- 28:00Speaker 7: Do away with them. And now it's like, uh, oh,
- 28:02Speaker 7: watch out here we come.
- 28:04Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Nancy, welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us
- 28:09Speaker 1: a little bit about yourself, and do you have a
- 28:10Speaker 1: question for our guests.
- 28:12Speaker 5: Yes, Hey, I'm Nancy Barger.
- 28:14Speaker 8: Hi, Laurlie. I'm in Knoxville, so go Big Orange. We're
- 28:19Speaker 8: right down the street. My best friend is actually an
- 28:23Speaker 8: obg y N so she can help you.
- 28:25Speaker 5: She's a great menopause specialist.
- 28:27Speaker 2: She took my.
- 28:28Speaker 5: Uterus out a couple of years ago.
- 28:31Speaker 8: It's been fabulous and she says I'll go through menopause
- 28:34Speaker 8: in a couple of years and I trust her. But
- 28:37Speaker 8: I'm having the hot flashes and the incontinence and all
- 28:40Speaker 8: of that stuff. I'm a mama for I'm about to
- 28:42Speaker 8: be a grandmother for the first time. I actually host
- 28:47Speaker 8: a radio show here, so I make fun of people
- 28:50Speaker 8: all the time. And I made fun of my hysterectomy
- 28:54Speaker 8: for a good month, which was on the air two
- 28:57Speaker 8: one hundred thousand people that all know that I've had
- 28:59Speaker 8: a hyreck to me, so trying to bring awareness of
- 29:02Speaker 8: that situation. And Leanne Morgan is a friend of mine,
- 29:05Speaker 8: so I love the fact that she's there. But one
- 29:07Speaker 8: thing I've not quite figured out yet is how do
- 29:12Speaker 8: you apologize to your husband and your kids after a
- 29:19Speaker 8: menopause mood swing because it happens a lot and there
- 29:23Speaker 8: is only so often that you can blame it on
- 29:26Speaker 8: your zoloft or whatever else you're taking when you're like, oh,
- 29:29Speaker 8: I'm so sorry.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I mean, do you have to apologize?
- 29:33Speaker 3: I mean, let's think about if college football, like the
- 29:36Speaker 3: cable went out and something the meltdown was from him.
- 29:41Speaker 3: But no, I don't know that's a good question. I
- 29:43Speaker 3: mean it depends, Sherry.
- 29:48Speaker 6: I don't apologize to my husband or son and they
- 29:52Speaker 6: know I'm going around crazy. Uh you know, I think
- 29:56Speaker 6: I think it's still just talking about it. I'll tell
- 29:58Speaker 6: you I finish talk about it quite a bit because
- 30:01Speaker 6: we have a show about it, and my husband's not
- 30:03Speaker 6: that kind of person. He's like, oh please, you know
- 30:06Speaker 6: I well I shouldn't. I'm going to share it. I
- 30:09Speaker 6: won't say his name. So I had somebody going on
- 30:11Speaker 6: with my lady parts and I was like, honey, I
- 30:14Speaker 6: need you to look. I need to do something to me.
- 30:16Speaker 6: He's like, get away from me, and I'm chasing him
- 30:18Speaker 6: through the house. I didn't realize I was actually doing that,
- 30:21Speaker 6: and he's like, what is wrong with you? And I
- 30:24Speaker 6: need you to look because I think somebody's really and
- 30:26Speaker 6: he's like, wow, this is not no, no, this is
- 30:29Speaker 6: and I realized, Wow, I'm really asking more of him.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Than he can handle.
- 30:34Speaker 6: Yeah, he's willing to give in this. He's trying to
- 30:36Speaker 6: be understanding and I think just communicating, especially you said
- 30:40Speaker 6: you have four kids. Do you have boys?
- 30:42Speaker 5: I have foy.
- 30:43Speaker 8: Girls and two boys, and my girls get it. My
- 30:46Speaker 8: husband's like your husband. If you say the word tampon
- 30:49Speaker 8: in front of him, he will have he'll melt an
- 30:51Speaker 8: emotional and physical meltdown.
- 30:53Speaker 5: He's never bought one.
- 30:54Speaker 8: He doesn't want to see it, he doesn't want to
- 30:56Speaker 8: talk about it. He doesn't want to acknowledge that that's
- 30:59Speaker 8: how women have children. In the delivery room, he stayed
- 31:03Speaker 8: at the north pole the entire time. And so I think,
- 31:08Speaker 8: like when the mood swings kind of come around, he
- 31:11Speaker 8: is a man will never understand what we're going through.
- 31:15Speaker 5: And I think it's frustrating for him because.
- 31:18Speaker 8: He doesn't get it, and so then you know, sometimes
- 31:21Speaker 8: him and the boys just kind of snap and I'm like,
- 31:23Speaker 8: m yeah, I.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Think you can sign him up for a class.
- 31:28Speaker 3: I think, like what, yeah, an educational.
- 31:32Speaker 6: I think to you said you had a best friend
- 31:34Speaker 6: that you cut your uterus, Well, that's that's there's a
- 31:35Speaker 6: statement right there.
- 31:37Speaker 10: Uh.
- 31:38Speaker 6: You know, I think for Jane and I having that
- 31:40Speaker 6: best friend sometimes that's going to be that's the best medicine,
- 31:44Speaker 6: is that they're going to understand, even past your your
- 31:47Speaker 6: family and everyone, what you're going through. You just call
- 31:49Speaker 6: him and say, hey, my husband's like really winky right now,
- 31:53Speaker 6: he is not getting what's going on.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Yeah, it's funny.
- 31:56Speaker 8: I've actually had her call him, Yeah, what's.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Can I meet her number?
- 32:02Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 32:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 32:04Speaker 5: Let me tell you.
- 32:05Speaker 8: She's ther whole hand in her who who and starts
- 32:08Speaker 8: asking you questions.
- 32:09Speaker 5: About that's a little weird, but you know, you.
- 32:13Speaker 7: Know, I'd all jokes aside too.
- 32:16Speaker 4: I just think open communication is the best, and it
- 32:19Speaker 4: is so humbling. It is so humbling to be like
- 32:24Speaker 4: that and treat somebody who loves me like he does,
- 32:28Speaker 4: and my daughter entreat him like that, So I really
- 32:30Speaker 4: know what you.
- 32:31Speaker 7: Mean and then you have to apologize, but I think
- 32:33Speaker 7: you do. And just open communication, you know, because.
- 32:38Speaker 4: It's it's just we are we're laughing and we're funny
- 32:41Speaker 4: and we're laughing.
- 32:42Speaker 7: But you know what, it's so vulnerable.
- 32:44Speaker 4: We are losing so much of what we worked hard
- 32:47Speaker 4: to get, whether that was as we worked out or
- 32:50Speaker 4: did that or had beautiful hair, and it's it's just
- 32:53Speaker 4: and even people paying attention to us.
- 32:56Speaker 7: Remember when you go on the street, you'd always get.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Hellos, and then all of a sudden you don't get
- 33:01Speaker 4: even the door open.
- 33:02Speaker 7: Wow, I don't go to the bank anymore. But it's different.
- 33:05Speaker 4: It's different, and until maybe you get really old and
- 33:08Speaker 4: then may be somebody else. But yeah, just that open
- 33:12Speaker 4: communication and if you have those people there that are
- 33:14Speaker 4: there to and you can.
- 33:16Speaker 7: Let your guard down.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's really key to being very vulnerable.
- 33:21Speaker 3: And you said something in the beginning, Jane about the
- 33:25Speaker 3: clumps of hair. Okay, so we've had this huge argument
- 33:29Speaker 3: in my house. I used to be married. I'm not
- 33:31Speaker 3: in ler, but that was a huge thing and I
- 33:33Speaker 3: was like, do you think this is great for me
- 33:36Speaker 3: that I am losing by them, and then of course
- 33:39Speaker 3: we all stick it on the wall to get it
- 33:41Speaker 3: at the end of the shower. I mean, this is
- 33:43Speaker 3: a thing, you know what I mean, maybe I forgot
- 33:45Speaker 3: a few times and so you have a couple clumps
- 33:47Speaker 3: of hair there. But this is really not easy for
- 33:50Speaker 3: us to do either. So you're right about the communication.
- 33:54Speaker 3: If you're just like open about it, it kind of
- 33:57Speaker 3: takes the elephant out of the room, doesn't it.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I would think so, Jane. You also mentioned something
- 34:05Speaker 1: about how you how you looked at differently, and I
- 34:08Speaker 1: did I read quicktly. Were you the homecoming queen at
- 34:11Speaker 1: Oil City High School?
- 34:13Speaker 7: Though I'm a lawyer by train.
- 34:18Speaker 2: We're going to show a picture in a minute, don't worry.
- 34:20Speaker 1: But I mean, how does it feel like that the
- 34:23Speaker 1: homecoming queen also goes through menopause? You know, everybody goes
- 34:26Speaker 1: through menopause eventually, you know, if you're live long enough,
- 34:29Speaker 1: you're lucky enough, that's what happens. Right, So it is
- 34:32Speaker 1: a different you know, we all we all experience it.
- 34:36Speaker 2: And yeah, aging is an honor, as I tell the girl.
- 34:38Speaker 1: But I also love to something that Nancy talked about
- 34:43Speaker 1: that's why we have the Mom's Club. That's why we're friends,
- 34:46Speaker 1: you know what. We can talk to our husbands and
- 34:48Speaker 1: there and try to help them understand what we're going through.
- 34:51Speaker 1: But that's why we have these close friendships with other women.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Women are great about having friendships and being tight. And
- 35:00Speaker 1: like when when you're feeling like crying or you're you
- 35:03Speaker 1: got acne and what are you going to do? And
- 35:05Speaker 1: I called Julie. Yeah, she'll make me feel so much better.
- 35:09Speaker 3: You call me anyway, because you're a hypochondriac and I'm
- 35:12Speaker 3: a nurse, so you're.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Like, yeah, I didn't even need menopause to have a
- 35:16Speaker 1: lot of Yeah.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I just it was. It was already there.
- 35:19Speaker 3: No anyway, So how did you guys handle like the
- 35:22Speaker 3: casting for this show? I'm dying to know, Like, you know,
- 35:26Speaker 3: did you have a ton of people or tell me
- 35:28Speaker 3: a little bit about that.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Sounds like you had some good volunteers who liked you,
- 35:31Speaker 1: But did you have to castro cast a wider net
- 35:35Speaker 1: or how did you.
- 35:36Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it was so wonderful to be able to
- 35:39Speaker 4: cast people of our age.
- 35:40Speaker 7: Because of our age, you're not getting cast as much, right,
- 35:44Speaker 7: So that was a wonderful thing.
- 35:45Speaker 4: And we used, of course, all our friends, and then
- 35:48Speaker 4: when we didn't have to, we just went into casting
- 35:50Speaker 4: and it was great, and you know, of course we
- 35:53Speaker 4: wanted to get some names. And you know, it's funny
- 35:57Speaker 4: if you have enough connections out here. We do live
- 36:00Speaker 4: in La yes, so you just come across these actors.
- 36:03Speaker 4: Michael Doran happens to be one of my best friends.
- 36:06Speaker 4: And Tom Lennon. Actually our children.
- 36:09Speaker 7: Went to preschool together. So let me tell you a
- 36:12Speaker 7: great story about Tom Lennon. I don't know.
- 36:15Speaker 4: I didn't talk to him for years. And Sherry and
- 36:17Speaker 4: I are going through I think Tom Cruise will do it.
- 36:20Speaker 4: How about wrapping it? So we're going through this and
- 36:22Speaker 4: I said, you know what I know Tom Lennon.
- 36:25Speaker 7: She goes, what you know? Tom Lennon.
- 36:27Speaker 4: If you ladies don't know me, was on something called
- 36:30Speaker 4: Reno nine to one one and he was a cop
- 36:32Speaker 4: that wore way.
- 36:33Speaker 7: Too short shorts.
- 36:34Speaker 4: He's just a funny guy. So anyway, I give him
- 36:37Speaker 4: a text. I said, Hey, this is Jane, and I said,
- 36:41Speaker 4: we have this. I you know I'm thinking about I'd
- 36:43Speaker 4: love you to play that my best friend's husband, And
- 36:47Speaker 4: I knew this dude did not watch this and within
- 36:50Speaker 4: three minutes, right Erry, he wrote me back and said,
- 36:53Speaker 4: I'm in.
- 36:55Speaker 7: So it's just amazing friends and people.
- 37:00Speaker 6: In season two. One of the extraordinary things when you
- 37:03Speaker 6: watch that season and we are writing season three right now,
- 37:06Speaker 6: yes we're in pre production. It was amazing to how
- 37:09Speaker 6: we had women the age of fourteen to ninety telling
- 37:13Speaker 6: the story. And there's something magical about that that we
- 37:17Speaker 6: didn't realize. We didn't. I don't know that we did
- 37:19Speaker 6: that on purpose. It would just happened to be the
- 37:21Speaker 6: episodes we wrote. And I went, oh, my goodness, like,
- 37:23Speaker 6: look at all these different generations of women telling the
- 37:26Speaker 6: story and being funny and sincere and vulnerable all those things,
- 37:32Speaker 6: and that was an amazing part of the casting too.
- 37:35Speaker 2: I think I'm glad you explained that.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I read that the fourteen to ninety I was like,
- 37:40Speaker 3: where are we with the fourteen year old part? But
- 37:42Speaker 3: I get what you're saying now, So I'm glad we
- 37:45Speaker 3: touched base on that.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Do you each have a favorite episode?
- 37:48Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 37:50Speaker 4: I do, and it's so funny because it's not a
- 37:52Speaker 4: funny one. But I'm going to probably break a little something.
- 37:56Speaker 4: But because if I would love you to see it
- 37:59Speaker 4: and how it progresses. But there's this one where I
- 38:01Speaker 4: get so angry her and she stands me up and
- 38:03Speaker 4: I'm waiting for her to go to another another wonderful
- 38:06Speaker 4: guru session or something. And then the next episode we
- 38:10Speaker 4: see what we were angry. We're in a fight, definitely,
- 38:13Speaker 4: we see each other. We run into each other in
- 38:15Speaker 4: a drug store and we find out I guess I
- 38:19Speaker 4: don't have to tell you. We find out what is wrong,
- 38:22Speaker 4: but it is. It is uh something that happens sometimes
- 38:25Speaker 4: because of menopause, whatever, a result, whatever. And she opens
- 38:31Speaker 4: up in a drug store and it's it's very touching
- 38:35Speaker 4: and I absolutely adore that episode, but it's probably nothing.
- 38:38Speaker 7: Not like if we started watching three together.
- 38:40Speaker 4: That's not an episode I'd show you until you know
- 38:42Speaker 4: the characters and you care about them.
- 38:44Speaker 7: And you go, whoa, yeah that's mine. And it's called surprise.
- 38:48Speaker 6: Okay, gosh, there's so many I mean, I love I
- 38:54Speaker 6: want to give away things too, you know, just to
- 38:57Speaker 6: be fun and be silly. It was really I guess
- 39:00Speaker 6: it was the research of it too. It was really
- 39:01Speaker 6: fun to do the episode about smoking pot, so we
- 39:05Speaker 6: thought we'd try it that'll cure it. Good, because that's
- 39:07Speaker 6: the thing to women, am I right? You are you
- 39:10Speaker 6: just don't know what to do. You will try anything
- 39:12Speaker 6: at some point. Right. So somebody had said, oh, you
- 39:15Speaker 6: know if you use you know, herb, little herb, And
- 39:17Speaker 6: I said, well, I haven't done that since I don't
- 39:19Speaker 6: even know when. Let's okay, let's do it. Let's try it.
- 39:22Speaker 6: And so that whole kind of that experiment. And you know,
- 39:24Speaker 6: I have a son who's twenty three, and so I
- 39:26Speaker 6: had to get this vape thing and I'm asking him,
- 39:28Speaker 6: I don't even know how this thing works. I mean,
- 39:30Speaker 6: I thought you, I thought you lit it. I thought
- 39:32Speaker 6: you lit the vape thing. I didn't know, you know,
- 39:34Speaker 6: I just hit a ball with my son. It was
- 39:36Speaker 6: actually a bonding moment for my son because he was like,
- 39:38Speaker 6: what are you doing?
- 39:39Speaker 4: Mom?
- 39:39Speaker 6: I said, I need you to show me just enough
- 39:41Speaker 6: of this, but I don't know how to use it.
- 39:43Speaker 6: And uh. And so that one was a lot of fun.
- 39:45Speaker 6: And that one actually the first day I had forty
- 39:46Speaker 6: thousand views.
- 39:47Speaker 7: Oh oh my gosh, that was our biggest.
- 39:50Speaker 6: It was so weird. I was like, why why? And
- 39:53Speaker 6: I think because we were so women, our age trying
- 39:56Speaker 6: to you know, I was trying to score some pot,
- 39:58Speaker 6: you know, the car, and I was talking about all
- 40:01Speaker 6: the Navy. I don't know if you guys have been
- 40:03Speaker 6: to one of those stores. It is fascinating. I did
- 40:05Speaker 6: research it and I went. I was like, oh my god,
- 40:07Speaker 6: it's like a candy store here there.
- 40:09Speaker 3: Highly educated, highly educational by far, I mean the first
- 40:14Speaker 3: definitely it doesn't work.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Now, Okay, well this is so much fun. So where
- 40:21Speaker 1: can our our audience find your show? And where do
- 40:24Speaker 1: we find you? On social media?
- 40:27Speaker 6: Okay, so we're always at the third act and the
- 40:31Speaker 6: is t HPE the third Act, which I love. On YouTube,
- 40:34Speaker 6: you can go there also on fire TV. Our first
- 40:37Speaker 6: two seasons are streaming and then season three will be
- 40:41Speaker 6: coming out. So on YouTube it's at the third act.
- 40:43Speaker 6: Social media is the same, so you can see us
- 40:45Speaker 6: on Instagram. Big One coming up fourth and fifth of October.
- 40:49Speaker 6: We'll be at the Anaheim Convention Center for the National
- 40:52Speaker 6: Metopause Show, which will be fun and we're hoping to
- 40:56Speaker 6: parlay that. I hope put this out there, ladies. I
- 40:58Speaker 6: have a theory, Jane, you want to where I think
- 41:00Speaker 6: this show is going to live.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Next I hope you say Austin, Texas.
- 41:06Speaker 6: You know when you go to the doctor's office and
- 41:07Speaker 6: you have to sit and wait, well, you know because
- 41:09Speaker 6: your nurse and you're watching those TVs and they're showing
- 41:12Speaker 6: you how to make like beat juice because you're bm
- 41:14Speaker 6: I and measured. Wouldn't it be great if you're going
- 41:17Speaker 6: to really talk about women if you're in watching our
- 41:20Speaker 6: show before you.
- 41:22Speaker 1: I mean, that would be great.
- 41:24Speaker 7: That would be just relaxes you.
- 41:26Speaker 4: You're opened up and you go, I can talk about
- 41:28Speaker 4: cracks wherever they're happening because those women did it, because.
- 41:33Speaker 3: They did it out on the lobby. So and now
- 41:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna Yeah. I don't know if doctors would love
- 41:37Speaker 3: that because you're like in there an hour and a half,
- 41:39Speaker 3: like you're like, hey, I's.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Out here and they mentioned it and so you know
- 41:45Speaker 2: that's great. I think that's brilliant.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that really is. Well, thank you so much for
- 41:50Speaker 1: joining us. This has been so.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Much being open and talking about it all blood.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Yeah, like I said, this is the menopause moment.
- 41:56Speaker 2: So now I'm in Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Absolutely, well and.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Benji watching on the way home.

- 42:05Speaker 1: want to thank Newcolm, which is a great app that

- 42:34Speaker 2: To It's one of my favorite.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Well, it's made us, It's made us.
- 42:37Speaker 2: We're still friends.
- 42:38Speaker 1: So we're still friends because we have to share a
- 42:40Speaker 1: room when we're here in Los Angeles because some people
- 42:44Speaker 1: are cheap. That would be me actually, so I'm talking
- 42:49Speaker 1: about myself.
- 42:51Speaker 3: I apologize anyway, lunch today, I know, yeah, I will
- 42:56Speaker 3: do that.

- 43:28Speaker 1: Mom's Club website for local event dates. This is gonna
- 43:31Speaker 1: be fun free and I think that we should have

- 43:43Speaker 1: secure your ticket to at Inside the Moms Club dot com.
- 43:46Speaker 1: So definitely please join us for that. Well, Julie, this
- 43:50Speaker 1: always goes by way too fast.
- 43:52Speaker 3: It did, and I'm really glad I didn't mention as
- 43:55Speaker 3: a nurse, I didn't really go down the road of
- 43:57Speaker 3: everything about menopause.
- 43:59Speaker 2: I behave I on my best.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Beha. I'm glad, but I'm sure we'll talk about it
- 44:03Speaker 1: later because I have some questions. Oh great, Yeah, No,
- 44:07Speaker 1: it's always it just goes by so fast.
- 44:09Speaker 3: It goes by fast. This is an incredibly important topic.
- 44:12Speaker 3: And I can tell you that, ladies, you're in the
- 44:15Speaker 3: hot spot. And I mean I don't mean that you know,
- 44:18Speaker 3: no pun intended, but what I'm saying is like, yeah,
- 44:21Speaker 3: take it, take those jackets off.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Whatever. Yeah.
- 44:24Speaker 3: So anyway, I think that this is key and that
- 44:27Speaker 3: women like you said it lasts a really long time,
- 44:29Speaker 3: and we should not be miserable and suffering and bounce
- 44:33Speaker 3: ideas off each other. Open up, take the elephant out
- 44:36Speaker 3: of the room, and it's all good.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Mom's unite. Yeah, we are together on this. Well, we
- 44:42Speaker 1: will be back next time with celebrities and extraordinary women.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Just thank you.
- 44:47Speaker 1: We know all your me time is precious and valuable.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Thanks mom for sharing it with us. Remember our Mom's
- 44:54Speaker 1: club model. If you don't laugh, sometimes.
- 44:56Speaker 2: You are going to cry.
- 44:58Speaker 1: So keep laughing. Moms. We'll see you next time inside
- 45:01Speaker 1: the Mom's Club.
- 45:02Speaker 7: Yesh Hi
