- 0:07SPEAKER_05: Hello! Welcome we welcome to the Flyer Live stream, live for ages, the first time live for bloody ages, so we can't remember what we're doing.
- 0:15SPEAKER_05: Hopefully you can see us.
- 0:17SPEAKER_05: Um anyway, my name's Ian Seager.
- 0:18SPEAKER_05: I'm Dave Corderwood.
- 0:19SPEAKER_04: My name's Ed Hicks.
- 0:20SPEAKER_07: I'm Annabelle Kirk, Karina Swinhouse Standen.
- 0:23SPEAKER_04: What?
- 0:26SPEAKER_07: Well, my marriage surenames easier to use than my polar surenames.
- 0:29SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, it's complicated.
- 0:31SPEAKER_05: Anyway, we are coming live from the town of Hagnau on Lake Constance, which is we're looking straight out the window there, just above the camera.
- 0:39SPEAKER_05: The views really good.
- 0:40SPEAKER_05: The lake is amazing, there's mountains, there's snow on the mountains.
- 0:43SPEAKER_05: We're in Ed's palatial suite, frankly, which is like bigger than it is bigger than my house.
- 0:48SPEAKER_05: It's a big place.
- 0:49SPEAKER_05: Um yeah, it's huge.
- 0:50SPEAKER_05: Anyway, we are we're live from Aero Ish.
- 0:53SPEAKER_05: Live from Eeroish.
- 0:54SPEAKER_05: We've had two days.
- 0:55SPEAKER_05: We've had two days.
- 0:56SPEAKER_05: Well, we got here on Monday.
- 0:57SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 0:58SPEAKER_05: And we got one half a day and a bit tomorrow.
- 1:00SPEAKER_05: So if you see us tomorrow, come and come and grab us.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: And bring off me.
- 1:04SPEAKER_05: Just come and grab us or whatever.
- 1:06SPEAKER_04: Uh and then anyway, let's get on with the show because there are do we have to thank Sky Demon and is there a top tip?
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: Has that not been loaded?
- 1:16SPEAKER_04: There might be a problem here.
- 1:18SPEAKER_04: Um where's the weather?
- 1:20SPEAKER_06: Well, it's nice and though.
- 1:21SPEAKER_06: Normal service.
- 1:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Henry's Henry has the same weather tip and the and the weather, but he's in a different room.
- 1:28SPEAKER_06: Well, I can tell you the weather's lovely.
- 1:30SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:30SPEAKER_06: There we go.
- 1:31SPEAKER_06: That's that bit done.
- 1:33SPEAKER_05: Okay, so someone messages I'll tell you what.
- 1:35SPEAKER_05: Ed, you talk.
- 1:37SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 1:38SPEAKER_05: Dave.
- 1:39SPEAKER_05: I'll kick off on the news.
- 1:41SPEAKER_05: You message Henry.
- 1:42SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 1:42SPEAKER_05: No, it's not the news.
- 1:43SPEAKER_05: You kick off on the news.
- 1:45SPEAKER_05: No, no, just ask him where that the weather is.
- 1:48SPEAKER_05: And I'll see if I can find have we got time for the weather?
- 1:51SPEAKER_05: We've got a lot of content to get from.
- 1:53SPEAKER_04: We have got a lot of content, but Michael Pear says it's good weather here.
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: That's good for good enough for us, Michael.
- 1:59SPEAKER_05: Let's take that as a oh my word.
- 2:01SPEAKER_04: Oh, and and Martin Loosby says maybe this is more reliable.
- 2:05SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 2:05SPEAKER_06: Is that what you're calling me these days, Martin?
- 2:09SPEAKER_05: Oh my word.
- 2:11SPEAKER_05: Right, carry on.
- 2:12SPEAKER_05: As you were, Dave, hit the news.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of news as you might expect coming out of Aero.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: So I'm going to run through it quite quickly.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: Anyone wants to say anything?
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: Just to just jump in.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: The first top top of the news just came out tonight is that uh Aura Aero, the French uh startup company in Toulouse, they've had their very first order for their first production aircraft.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: It's for an integral S that's the nose wheel version of a two-seat aerobatic aircraft, is going to go to a Czech company called OK OV Aviation for upset recovery training and uh general aerobatic training.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: The good news is I found a photo.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: Oh put that photo on.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's on, it's gone.
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: Next news.
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: Next story.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: It's very, very busy day for uh continental aerospace technologies.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: One of our supporters for the uh uh for our coverage of the weekend, yeah.
- 3:03SPEAKER_04: We should definitely say that we wouldn't be covering Aero if it wasn't for Continental Aerospace Technologies, uh Cirrus aircraft and Lone Mountain.
- 3:12SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 3:12SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: Well, for Continental, they've launched something called the Fast Track Engines Program.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: So uh basically Oders can replace existing engines with a new, rebuilt or overhauled engine direct from the factory.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: The advantage is that they're able to ship certain engines within one to 75 days.
- 3:31SPEAKER_04: So they're not is that like a mail order engine?
- 3:33SPEAKER_05: Well, I guess it is made.
- 3:34SPEAKER_05: So they've basically got a whole bunch of engines in stock and a whole bunch of parts to build up other ones in stock, which is which is brilliant.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: Uh other news from Continental because it has been busy for them.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: The uh the helicopter version of the C D 170, this is their uh jet A-fueled, basically a diesel engine.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh they've had it certified by ERSA.
- 3:57SPEAKER_04: They just need to find a customer now.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: I well, I don't I think they've probably pursued certification with a customer in mind.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: But there's something else to it is who it is, yeah.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: One small thing, they've also adopted uh a new magneto service kit as well.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: Which um it's a big deal for the people who have to service magnetos.
- 4:16SPEAKER_04: When did you last service your magnetos?
- 4:18SPEAKER_06: That's a very personal question, Ed.
- 4:20SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 4:21SPEAKER_05: When did you last experience of Spark?
- 4:25SPEAKER_06: Well Yeah, five minutes ago with the stuffing electricity of these drugs.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: That's what I thought.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's true.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: That's what I was talking about.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Shall we push on with the news?
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, Cesar, sensible Dave.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: I'm just conscious we got lots of things.
- 4:39SPEAKER_05: I can't wait for this story.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: Come on, Dave.
- 4:42SPEAKER_05: Cester, they've had upgrades for the piston fleet.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Excellent.
- 4:46SPEAKER_05: What were the upgrades for the piston fleet?
- 4:48SPEAKER_05: No, it doesn't, so I'm interested in what were they?
- 4:50SPEAKER_05: Well, first of all, the Were they significant Well, I won't make those judgments, but I'll just tell you what they are.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Lycoming dual ignition system, which has been on the 172 for a while, is now extended to the other piston aircraft, the 182 and 206.
- 5:06SPEAKER_05: So this must be in some kind of because they're all good dual ignition anyway.
- 5:10SPEAKER_04: But it's a it's a must be electronic dual.
- 5:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think it's like homing's new electronic dual ignition.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: So the the other updates are thankful are because of Garmin has released what's called release seven, uh software upgrade, and it uh must be really hard work in the naming department.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: What should we call the seventh release?
- 5:29SPEAKER_05: Oh, I don't know.
- 5:30SPEAKER_05: Release seven.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: Well, I I don't mean a pay rise.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: Yes, it unleashes uh smart glide, which uh is for those engine out situations, tells you how far you could expect to uh get to glide, presumably to glide, yeah.
- 5:44SPEAKER_06: And something else called remote wake, which that could be really helpful when you don't get out of bed in the mornings.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Yes, well, that's exactly what you do to your aeroplane with remote wake.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: It's an act basically on a phone, obviously on a smartphone, talks to the aircraft, wakes it up, uh, so the pilot can check for your have a look at any maintenance updates, and if there's a database needed update and flatten the battery and flatten the battery, yeah, brilliant.
- 6:07SPEAKER_06: Does it heat your seats as well on a cold morning?
- 6:09SPEAKER_04: Heat your what?
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: Seats.
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: No, because text run have never got as far as heating seats, I don't think.
- 6:14SPEAKER_05: Well, it's a quite a lot of stuff, isn't it?
- 6:16SPEAKER_05: There's a lot of the slightly more expensive aircraft, yeah.
- 6:18SPEAKER_05: And Silicon got their own system.
- 6:20SPEAKER_05: You basically get the app, it tells you how much how much TKS fluid it's got, how much fuel it's got, how much oxygen it's got, and it'll update the database automatically as and went, which is you know, quite nice if you're one of those actors in the ads that has a busy lifestyle.
- 6:34SPEAKER_06: Yes, and rollerblades.
- 6:36SPEAKER_06: I've never is that a different advert?
- 6:38SPEAKER_05: That's a different ad okay.
- 6:39SPEAKER_05: That's a different advantage.
- 6:41SPEAKER_05: Have you got another story or have you got time for an interruption to break it up a bit?
- 6:44SPEAKER_05: Let's break it up a bit.
- 6:45SPEAKER_05: Let's break it up.
- 6:46SPEAKER_05: Anyway, I would, in addition to thanking Sirius Aircraft, Continental Aerospace Technologies, and Alone Mountain, I would also like to thank Sky Demon.
- 6:52SPEAKER_05: Sky Demon, thank you so much for sporting this.
- 6:55SPEAKER_05: It's very much appreciated.
- 6:56SPEAKER_05: And here is your top tip.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Hi, I'm Tim from Sky Demon.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Welcome to this week's top tip.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: When you're flying over water, you may have noticed a blue ring around your aircraft.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: As it says here, this is how far you can glide without an engine based on the best glide-indicated airspeed and glide ratio that you've set up for your aircraft.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Sky Demon takes wind and terrain into account when working out how far you could glide.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: You can turn on the glide range feature when you're over land too.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: In navigation options, scroll to the bottom and change show glide range to always.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Now that we're over land, SkyDemon is showing us how far we could glide before we're at a thousand feet above ground level.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: The idea is that if an airfield is inside the ring, getting to its overhead with a thousand feet to spare gives you a good chance of landing there.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: You can change it to a different height again in the planning options.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: For our full user manual, go to skydemon.aro and choose help and support.
- 8:10SPEAKER_05: We're nailing this, just superb production values.
- 8:14SPEAKER_05: Back on with the news when I go look for the weather.
- 8:16SPEAKER_05: Okay, thank you.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: Okay, a diamond aircraft.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: They've got a raft of what they call enhancements across the range.
- 8:22SPEAKER_02: No new aircraft.
- 8:23SPEAKER_05: What they call enhancements.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, such as colour schemes, interiors, lighting, various LED lighting systems, upgrades to the Garmin Avionics, um, including weather radar and ADSB in and out.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Most importantly, they're gonna have USB C under what ports throughout.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: That's handy.
- 8:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's really handy.
- 8:43SPEAKER_06: Everyone needs to change the tablet.
- 8:46SPEAKER_05: Shall I carry on with the news?
- 8:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, we're having a bit of a technical issue with the weather.
- 8:50SPEAKER_06: It's all right, I'm sorting it.
- 8:51SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay.
- 8:51SPEAKER_04: Annabelle's on it.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: TechNAM.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: Now I need a really deep breath for TechNAM because they don't because it's it's a TechNAM, it's a TechNam year at um Oshkosh, uh Aero this year.
- 9:01SPEAKER_05: They come every two years, don't they?
- 9:03SPEAKER_04: They come every two years, and yeah, they really came in everything this year, don't they?
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: They've just come in yeah.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: So starting from the top, the P2010, that's the four COVID Dave.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: That's not the top.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: Well, I've got the top here.
- 9:15SPEAKER_05: Well, what about the P2012?
- 9:17SPEAKER_05: Well, I I put that above the down.
- 9:19SPEAKER_05: That appears further on down.
- 9:20SPEAKER_05: Oh, the top of your list.
- 9:22SPEAKER_05: Sorry, right.
- 9:23SPEAKER_04: I've sort of back at it.
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:25SPEAKER_06: Carry on, Dave, as you were.
- 9:26SPEAKER_04: And I and I apologize.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: I mean, we don't have photos for all of Dave's news because to be fair, Dave made the world's biggest list of news.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: He's got more news than we've ever had before.
- 9:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah, look, look, all of this goes on for hours.
- 9:38SPEAKER_06: Carry on, Dave.
- 9:38SPEAKER_06: Okay, speed up.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: The P2010, the four-seater, this is the Mark 3, the third version.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: It's got air conditioning now, uh, new interior, extra Garmin functions like so many others.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: Um, the P this is really interesting.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: The P92.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Which is from 1992.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 9:56SPEAKER_06: When you say this is really interesting, is this like an edge?
- 9:59SPEAKER_06: Really interesting.
- 10:00SPEAKER_06: No, this is actually interesting.
- 10:02SPEAKER_05: How do you know it's from 1992?
- 10:04SPEAKER_05: Because P92.
- 10:07SPEAKER_02: So it's it's actually one of their oldest aircraft.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: It is the oldest aircraft in their current fleet.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 10:13SPEAKER_02: Anyway, they this has been a sort of a little forgotten aircraft in some ways, uh, but it's absolutely a superb little high-wing aircraft.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: Because it had a facelift, and now it's getting a Rotenx 915 Is, isn't it?
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: That's right, 141 horsepower.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: They're really aiming it at uh hot and high operations.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: Um so now we come to the P2012, the one you were talking about.
- 10:33SPEAKER_02: They've got a VIP version.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: So basically, this is uh the piston twin usual aircraft with a bisjet type interior.
- 10:41SPEAKER_05: I absolutely glanced in through it all, it was quite cool.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: It's incredible.
- 10:47SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I've sat inside it all over.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: Apparently, the first customer is this American chap who owns his own island.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: So it's he's it's his island commuter.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: It's an island commuter.
- 10:58SPEAKER_05: My mouth wanted to say, what's his name?
- 11:00SPEAKER_05: Is he is he in the news in America?
- 11:02SPEAKER_05: But it stopped.
- 11:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah, stopped.
- 11:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, let's not go there.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's only one lock.
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: Because it's not one last quick check down bit.
- 11:09SPEAKER_02: The aircraft they know it has the P2008 JC NG, not quite sure what JC stands for.
- 11:15SPEAKER_06: I could tell you what JC stands for.
- 11:17SPEAKER_02: What?
- 11:18SPEAKER_06: Well, it stands for many things.
- 11:19SPEAKER_06: Well, I will not say them live.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Okay, anyway.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: So the P 2008 JC NG, which is very popular with flight schools, is now certified by ERSA to what's known as CS23, that's the standard sort of uh certification, but something called Amendment 6, which is a step up from the previous category that aircraft is in higher safety standard.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: And the first one of these new aircraft is going to go to TacNan's own flight school.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: Okay, and their flight school is for training staff and locals around the Kapoor area.
- 11:51SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's good, that's pretty nice.
- 11:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's great.
- 11:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we still have our own flight school, no.
- 11:57SPEAKER_05: Yes, yes, let's do it.
- 11:58SPEAKER_05: Do you want another break or should we dive in?
- 12:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, let's have another break.
- 12:01SPEAKER_05: Anyway, after the Sky Demon tip, yeah.
- 12:04SPEAKER_05: We're looking at glide range.
- 12:06SPEAKER_05: What do we think Simon's got for the weather?
- 12:08SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 12:08SPEAKER_05: Let's find out.
- 12:09SPEAKER_05: Simon, what's the weather like?
- 12:11SPEAKER_08: Even all, hope all is good with you this evening, and you've been managing to enjoy some of the sunshine that virtually all of us have been having over the last few days.
- 12:20SPEAKER_08: But wow, what about that easterly wind?
- 12:22SPEAKER_08: It suddenly ripped through you, didn't it?
- 12:24SPEAKER_08: And it was pretty chilly.
- 12:25SPEAKER_08: Now, um, this weekend the main question is gonna be the wind, but I think that's probably not gonna be such an issue as it was during this week, and also cloud and where most of the cloud is.
- 12:36SPEAKER_08: So I'm gonna use the um high resolution icon EU chart again from the German Weather Service, and here we've got the day and time uh marked on for you.
- 12:48SPEAKER_08: So this is uh Friday morning at 8am, high pressure, centered off the eastern coast of the country.
- 12:53SPEAKER_08: You can see that we've got cloud in the east, most of it well broken, and best of uh the sunshine out towards the west, and actually it looks as if it is gonna be a fair morning.
- 13:03SPEAKER_08: That cloud burns back to the east coast, which is typical at this time of year, of course, under high pressure.
- 13:08SPEAKER_08: And actually, despite it being quite breezy across southern England, southern Wales, and southwest England at first, I think the wind should ease as we get into the afternoon.
- 13:17SPEAKER_08: So that's a position at four o'clock, just in broken cloud around north and east.
- 13:21SPEAKER_08: Based on that, three to five thousand feet, tops about eight thousand feet, a little bit more cloud across uh southwest Ireland and getting into south west England, but again that's fairly well broken.
- 13:31SPEAKER_08: Based on that, about 3,000 feet, tops about 10,000 feet.
- 13:35SPEAKER_08: Now, as we get in towards Saturday, notice the cloud uh across Wales, southwest England, parts of southern England increasing, and across Ireland too.
- 13:43SPEAKER_08: One or two spots of drizzle in the ciliards, reducing visibility there and across western parts of Ireland, but otherwise, it's a fair start to the day.
- 13:52SPEAKER_08: Um, best sunshine, probably southern Scotland, northern England, eastern parts of England, and parts of the Midlands.
- 13:58SPEAKER_08: Just want you to notice one or two shadows just cropping up here.
- 14:01SPEAKER_08: Look, around the channel.
- 14:03SPEAKER_08: And that's probably indicative of um a little bit of drizzle, reduced visibility, possibly central and western parts of the channel.
- 14:10SPEAKER_08: Wind's generally light though, and then through the course of Saturday afternoon, a general increase of cloud across Ireland, across Wales, across central and southern England bases, probably at around about a three to four thousand foot mark, and the tops at about eight to ten thousand feet across many other areas though, Scotland, northern England, eastern England, and eventually southwestern parts of England, the cloud lifts, it breaks more, and with four to four thousand foot bases, eight thousand foot tops, really nothing to be concerned about.
- 14:39SPEAKER_08: And then into Sunday, generally more cloud around on Sunday, still under high pressure.
- 14:45SPEAKER_08: But the cloud again tends to break as we get into the afternoon.
- 14:48SPEAKER_08: Exception to the rule is going to be across central parts of Ireland, perhaps the far southwest of England, but generally it looks as if it is going to be another fair day.
- 14:58SPEAKER_08: Best sunshine, least clouds, central and eastern areas, base is 4,000 feet, tops about 7,000 feet, and then a general increase of cloud taking place across parts of southern England, Wales, into the Irish Sea as well, and a few spots drizzled in the southwest.
- 15:12SPEAKER_08: Some showers just getting into western parts of Scotland later on.
- 15:16SPEAKER_08: There are really nothing, I think, to be too concerned about.
- 15:19SPEAKER_08: Just keep your eye on the forecast for Sunday.
- 15:21SPEAKER_08: Make sure that that cloud in the channel doesn't drop and we don't see a reduction in visibility.
- 15:26SPEAKER_08: Just something to be watching out for.
- 15:28SPEAKER_08: Otherwise, though, it's looking a pretty darn good weekend.
- 15:32SPEAKER_08: So enjoy it if you can.
- 15:33SPEAKER_08: Um, just a reminder about my next Aviation Weather School online course presented entirely live by me.
- 15:38SPEAKER_08: You can't have everything, can you?
- 15:40SPEAKER_08: Uh it's going to be held on the Tuesday evenings of the 12th and 19th of May between 6 30pm and 9pm.
- 15:46SPEAKER_08: If you want to take part, get to weatherschool.co.uk, book your play start or use the QR code that you see there.
- 15:51SPEAKER_08: I'll get you flying more, I'll get you flying more safely.
- 15:54SPEAKER_08: Simple as that.
- 15:54SPEAKER_08: I will build your weather confidence.
- 15:57SPEAKER_08: Okay, have a great weekend and uh I'll catch you next week.
- 16:00SPEAKER_08: Bye for now, guys.
- 16:01SPEAKER_08: See ya.
- 16:10SPEAKER_05: We would just have a little thing here.
- 16:11SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 16:12SPEAKER_05: Looks like the weather's gonna be nice.
- 16:14SPEAKER_06: It is, it's lovely here.
- 16:15SPEAKER_06: I haven't seen a single.
- 16:16SPEAKER_04: I know, it's getting dark, it's lovely.
- 16:18SPEAKER_04: No, that's right.
- 16:18SPEAKER_04: Could you have a message on screen, Ed?
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: Oh yes, there's a message.
- 16:21SPEAKER_04: Sorry, there's many things going on here.
- 16:24SPEAKER_04: Um Michael Roberts says, Who's the lady on the left?
- 16:29SPEAKER_05: Not in the other place.
- 16:31SPEAKER_05: Oh, not our left, yeah.
- 16:32SPEAKER_05: Your left.
- 16:33SPEAKER_05: Okay, this is Karina.
- 16:34SPEAKER_05: Karina works for Flyer, started back in January.
- 16:37SPEAKER_05: Uh, and Karina's in our sales department, so she's over here at the moment, spreading the good word of Flyer.
- 16:42SPEAKER_05: And Karina flies from White Waltham.
- 16:45SPEAKER_05: She does.
- 16:45SPEAKER_05: And if you're watching White Waltham, hello White Waltham.
- 16:47SPEAKER_02: Hello, White Waltham.
- 16:48SPEAKER_05: So there you go.
- 16:49SPEAKER_05: That's who it is.
- 16:50SPEAKER_05: It's Karina.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 16:52SPEAKER_05: There's more news from Dave.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: Oh yes.
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna speed it up.
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna speed it up very quickly.
- 16:57SPEAKER_02: Two times Dave's speed.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: So there are two stories from Dea, a French company.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: Um, the uh there's a new TBM980, uh, it's a replacement for the TBM960.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: The real difference is the fact that the avionics in the new one are the Garmin G3000 Prime avionics.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: There's no extra functions, but I'm told that the real difference is in the way the pilot works with it.
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: It's completely different from Prime is awesome.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Prime is awesome.
- 17:23SPEAKER_02: Instead of going through menus, you just touch something on the screen and it comes up.
- 17:27SPEAKER_04: Does it impress?
- 17:28SPEAKER_04: Does it also deliver your packages like next day?
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: It's not like it's it's not like kind of price.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: What's the next news story, Dave?
- 17:37SPEAKER_02: Well, also from Dai, there are other things which is called Kodiak.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: They brought the the very first uh Kodiak 900 to Europe.
- 17:44SPEAKER_02: 900 is the bigger, faster version of the original Kodiak 100.
- 17:49SPEAKER_04: Not necessarily the prettiest one, is it?
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: Because it's got a really big is like it's like a big catch chunk.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: It is very big, it's very big.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: Um this one is um a very different beast from the 100.
- 17:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh, it's on a it's on a multi it's on a tour of Europe for showing off to as it's multi-mission capabilities, so it's being shown to police horses and other sort of government agencies.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: Being shown to police horses, horses, horses actually it's big enough people put for it.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: Last news story, completely different uh type of story.
- 18:20SPEAKER_02: Um, there are two new sets of wheels and brakes available from Behringer, they've been specially developed for stall operations.
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: There's been a boom in stall competitions and a lot of interesting.
- 18:31SPEAKER_04: That's that's so much news.
- 18:32SPEAKER_04: Even I didn't know that was news.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: Well, I only heard I only heard it this afternoon.
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: Ah, okay, right.
- 18:36SPEAKER_02: It is fresh.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: Um Beringer started as a supplier to permit and experimental aircraft.
- 18:41SPEAKER_02: Now it sells 70% of its sales are to certified aircraft, but it likes to try out its new ideas on permit aircraft, you know, and then later on certify it.
- 18:52SPEAKER_05: Okay, so there's this wheel.
- 18:53SPEAKER_05: We thought we'd make it rounder.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Yep, there are the two sets.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: One is for smaller aircraft, such as the Denis Zenith Range and Carbon Cups, etc.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: The other one is for bigger Bush aircraft, such as the Cessna 185 and the Helio.
- 19:05SPEAKER_05: And the Helio.
- 19:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, something like that.
- 19:07SPEAKER_05: Which there can't be that many.
- 19:08SPEAKER_02: Well, Helio, I I did hear today from the guys at Beringer that some chaps have bought helio and are going to restart, they tend to restart production.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: Is correct.
- 19:16SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 19:17SPEAKER_02: I did know about that.
- 19:18SPEAKER_05: Hands up who thinks that the Helio is going to be an aeroplane that we could all buy at some point in the future.
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: Um, I I suspect it it will be special market.
- 19:28SPEAKER_04: Special order.
- 19:29SPEAKER_06: Special.
- 19:30SPEAKER_04: Well, not that kind of special.
- 19:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, special.
- 19:33SPEAKER_06: Okay, okay, definitely special.
- 19:35SPEAKER_04: Next, we're up.
- 19:37SPEAKER_06: Yeah, Dave, would you like to take a breather and have a little drink?
- 19:39SPEAKER_03: I would it would be a good thing.
- 19:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, okay, love James.
- 19:42SPEAKER_06: Um in a minute.
- 19:45SPEAKER_06: Club news.
- 19:46SPEAKER_06: For landing fees, you've still got a week left to use them.
- 19:48SPEAKER_06: We have Sky Broadford, Ballado, because one of the team knows how to pronounce it.
- 19:53SPEAKER_05: Um Are you sure it's not Balladu?
- 19:55SPEAKER_06: Oh, I'm sorry, is it Paul Adu?
- 19:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:58SPEAKER_05: I saw Sarah today.
- 20:00SPEAKER_06: Did you know?
- 20:02SPEAKER_05: She was the original Ballardoo.
- 20:04SPEAKER_05: She was the original Ballado.
- 20:07SPEAKER_06: Um we also have Manchester Barton and Audley End.
- 20:13SPEAKER_06: Um May landing fees include Causeway in Northern Ireland, uh, which if you're into your motorbiking, like some people at the end, um you can fly into, go to the uh Northwest 200 road race event, which is also in May.
- 20:27SPEAKER_06: Um and we have another fly club webinar coming up.
- 20:31SPEAKER_06: Uh this is a web in R because next week.
- 20:34SPEAKER_06: Yeah, this is on next Wednesday uh with Nigel Webb, uh, which is about flying in and around the Channel Islands.
- 20:40SPEAKER_06: So there is still time.
- 20:41SPEAKER_06: I am trying to get at least one free landing fee for May in the Channel Islands, working on it in I.
- 20:48SPEAKER_05: Are they not replying to you?
- 20:50SPEAKER_06: They are.
- 20:51SPEAKER_05: Well, just say no.
- 20:52SPEAKER_06: They're just saying I will come back to you, Annabelle.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: When Channel Islands get a wiggle on.
- 20:59SPEAKER_04: Come on.
- 21:00SPEAKER_04: We love your landing veins.
- 21:01SPEAKER_04: We love your landing fees.
- 21:03SPEAKER_06: Yes, we love your land channel islands.
- 21:04SPEAKER_06: Um, and don't forget if you've missed any of our webinars, they're all available for catch-up.
- 21:09SPEAKER_06: Um, so some recent highlights, uh being confident on the radio with our good friend Darren Lewington.
- 21:15SPEAKER_06: And we had a fantastic uh licensing update with Ed Bellamy quite recently as well.
- 21:21SPEAKER_05: Can I just say that you only get all of those things if you're a member?
- 21:24SPEAKER_05: And you really need to be a member in order to get a huge library of stuff like that, plus everything else we do.
- 21:29SPEAKER_05: Full access to all of the content we produce, full access to the forums, go to flyer.co forward slash membership, cost you six quid a month.
- 21:36SPEAKER_05: Bit of a bargain.
- 21:37SPEAKER_05: It is incredible.
- 21:39SPEAKER_06: One more one more thing.
- 21:40SPEAKER_06: What?
- 21:40SPEAKER_06: Flyer Club members who are at Aero.
- 21:43SPEAKER_06: We had a quick sausage and beer lunch today.
- 21:45SPEAKER_06: If you're coming tomorrow and you want to meet sausage and beer, there's more than one place for sausage and beer.
- 21:50SPEAKER_06: Unfortunately, we're outside hall A3.
- 21:55SPEAKER_04: And it's such nice weather, that would probably be really nice.
- 21:58SPEAKER_06: It was really nice.
- 21:58SPEAKER_06: Good sausages, good beer.
- 22:00SPEAKER_06: Good weather and us, yeah.
- 22:02SPEAKER_06: But there's what could you want?
- 22:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 22:04SPEAKER_05: What more could you want indeed?
- 22:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 22:08SPEAKER_04: And when you're at Aero, all you want is good aeroplanes.
- 22:12SPEAKER_04: And I believe we have seen a lot of good airplanes.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: Some stunning airplanes, yeah.
- 22:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:17SPEAKER_05: Um, oh Ian's doing something.
- 22:19SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 22:20SPEAKER_05: Ian's doing as you were.
- 22:21SPEAKER_05: I'll I'll interrupt the flow with you in a minute.
- 22:24SPEAKER_05: Oh, in fact, I'll do it now.
- 22:25SPEAKER_04: He's got his thing.
- 22:25SPEAKER_05: I don't know what this is.
- 22:27SPEAKER_05: Apologies for the lack of sizing, but there you go.
- 22:29SPEAKER_06: Hey, look at that.
- 22:31SPEAKER_05: Sausage and beer at lunchtime.
- 22:33SPEAKER_05: I think that's a good one.
- 22:33SPEAKER_05: That's a lot of people.
- 22:37SPEAKER_06: They're all flyer club members.
- 22:38SPEAKER_06: Wow, there you go.
- 22:40SPEAKER_06: I think I had the sausage and most of the beer by that point.
- 22:42SPEAKER_06: Why was I at the point?
- 22:44SPEAKER_06: You weren't without Karen.
- 22:46SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 22:47SPEAKER_06: I was working.
- 22:48SPEAKER_04: Excellent.
- 22:49SPEAKER_04: Um, so aeroplanes-wise, at the show, there are a lot.
- 22:53SPEAKER_04: Um, I would say the show, the show is busy, um, but there's there's there's maybe a few little changes over the last year.
- 23:02SPEAKER_06: Um well, I was last here two years ago, and it's very similar.
- 23:07SPEAKER_04: Some of the things might be the same.
- 23:09SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 23:10SPEAKER_04: There are some airplanes of which I have nothing substantial to say.
- 23:13SPEAKER_04: I know, and so we we'll take your silence as silence as as nothing to say.
- 23:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:19SPEAKER_06: Um is a good thing.
- 23:23unknown: Sorry.
- 23:23SPEAKER_04: Not if you're an airplane.
- 23:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:25SPEAKER_04: If you've got nothing to say, yeah.
- 23:26SPEAKER_04: Uh so right, so we got a whole collection of photos of things that we've seen at the show.
- 23:31SPEAKER_04: Um, so starting with um uh what about oh yeah, so this was cool.
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: Um, so it's the first microlight stomp for the UK.
- 23:42SPEAKER_06: Hey!
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: Um so this is uh from JMB Aircraft.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: Uh so literally the aeroplane's been delivered.
- 23:48SPEAKER_04: Um uh it's come from the factory to here.
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: Uh the guys um who runs uh Stomp UK, uh chap called Chris Kirk.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: Um he was I saw him today, and uh that's the first time he's seen the aeroplane.
- 24:00SPEAKER_04: Uh sadly, it won't make it to the UK quite in time from proper microlite trade fair.
- 24:05SPEAKER_05: Hang on a second, hang on a second.
- 24:07SPEAKER_05: What's the date then?
- 24:07SPEAKER_05: My computer says it's 23rd of April.
- 24:09SPEAKER_07: April.
- 24:10SPEAKER_05: And when's Popper Microlight Fair?
- 24:11SPEAKER_05: First, first of May.
- 24:13SPEAKER_05: Beginning of May.
- 24:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I there's that's a week.
- 24:17SPEAKER_04: It is.
- 24:17SPEAKER_04: Um does it go?
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: I don't know, but they've got to take it all apart and pack it and do all anyway.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: It's no, no, it's not.
- 24:24SPEAKER_04: It's it needs to be packed and shipped and also sadly, sadly not.
- 24:28SPEAKER_04: Um so that's uh that's very cool.
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: And um, yeah, so you're there's there'll be a bit bit of video on that in an upcoming flyer video.
- 24:36SPEAKER_04: Um there's the Piper M700 viewer of time with with the seven bladed propeller.
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:45SPEAKER_06: Very sexy blades, actually.
- 24:46SPEAKER_04: It is very sexy blades.
- 24:48SPEAKER_04: It is, but do you it's seven blades seems like a lot to have.
- 24:51SPEAKER_07: I've sat inside it earlier on today.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: Oh, get you.
- 24:54SPEAKER_07: I did met Diana.
- 24:56SPEAKER_05: Oh, very nice.
- 24:58SPEAKER_05: Okay, it's quite it looks pretty cool though, if you've got seven blades.
- 25:01SPEAKER_05: I mean, can you imagine pitching up at the front when you shot it down?
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: It's a funny mould.
- 25:05SPEAKER_04: It's a yes.
- 25:09SPEAKER_04: Oh, there was um an expensive one.
- 25:11SPEAKER_04: Let's not forget.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: So, um, probably uh one of one of the bit more significant bits of aeroplane news at the show.
- 25:19SPEAKER_05: Well, we got the next version of the Elixir because the first version of the Elixir is out, they got something like 80 of them throughout Europe, with various clubs.
- 25:27SPEAKER_05: This is the Elixir Plus, and it's kind of to help them move into the US market as well.
- 25:31SPEAKER_05: So you get an extra 70 kilos max all-up weight that went from 630 to 700.
- 25:36SPEAKER_05: They've changed the undercarriage to make it a bit stronger, they've changed the exhaust, they've changed, they've they've stuck the um bigger, bigger wingtips on and a little bit more span.
- 25:46SPEAKER_05: They've got some of it.
- 25:47SPEAKER_05: Uh slightly droopy leading engine.
- 25:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you can sort of see it at the wing tip there.
- 25:51SPEAKER_05: A little bit a la a la Series have got a slightly different angle of attack there.
- 25:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah, um, and inside they've replaced the G5 with a GI 275, which may sound to you like it's a bit boring because it's a bit boring.
- 26:01SPEAKER_04: That was crazy, but the reason they're doing it, really all technicality, wasn't it?
- 26:05SPEAKER_05: To get the IFR certification in the US, which is something about the GI275 battery that you've got.
- 26:11SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the the battery is certified, isn't it?
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: Amazingly.
- 26:14SPEAKER_04: Uh what else?
- 26:15SPEAKER_04: Oh, this was cool.
- 26:16SPEAKER_04: Um, so Robin turned up uh with a DR400, but you're looking at that going, that's an odd-looking nose, and that's because uh Robin have taken the Rotax 916, that's the 160 horsepower engine from RoTax, and put it on the 400.
- 26:32SPEAKER_04: And this is going to be an airplane you can buy brand new from Robin.
- 26:36SPEAKER_04: Um, or if you're a DR400 owner, so pretty much any DR400, you can send your Robin back to the factory and uh for a chunk of change, they will retrofit the that onto and deliver you back a flying airplane.
- 26:50SPEAKER_06: And it is carved out of a single piece of oak.
- 26:53SPEAKER_05: And if you if you're looking at that picture, 97% of that picture is a DR400 that looks that's quite a good looking airplane.
- 27:02SPEAKER_05: Unfortunately, the remaining 3%, which is the air intake at the bottom of the uh 916i, they had a visit from the ugly stick that day.
- 27:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and this is beat the cowl up.
- 27:12SPEAKER_06: This is the bit this is a bit sticking its tongue out, isn't it?
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and this is a bit more at the flattering angle on the cowl because the cowl is a bit flat at the front.
- 27:18SPEAKER_04: But yeah, I I think it's a fairly it's got to be one of the most significant things Robin had done.
- 27:24SPEAKER_04: And I think what the ugly cow?
- 27:26SPEAKER_04: No, no, combining the 916 with the um I think it'd be a great aeroplane.
- 27:31SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 27:31SPEAKER_04: Wish it looked a little bit better at the front.
- 27:33SPEAKER_04: Well, we yes, yeah.
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: Um, uh what else have I got?
- 27:39SPEAKER_04: Uh I don't know.
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: And then the pictures are all so tiny.
- 27:43SPEAKER_04: Um the oh yes, Dave will know this.
- 27:48SPEAKER_04: Is this the this is the the volume?
- 27:51SPEAKER_06: Go on, Dave.
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: Is this the velocity?
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: No, this is the Volo X Pro.
- 27:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is the one that is uh going to be sold first of all.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be solved.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: This should go on sale later this year.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be sold first as an experimental permit type aircraft, and then what while what you have to build?
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: So you if you it's like a 600 kilogram micro light, so it's factory built and it may refer to it.
- 28:15SPEAKER_05: But it can't be a 600 kilogram microite because the store speed is gonna be a bit weird.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: Well, I don't know how to do that, but you could have you could have 600 kilogram mic uh helicopters, so why not this?
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: And and I I'm not sure you chat.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: Anyway, if you if anyone wishes to disagree with Dave's news, here he's doing it, but it's okay.
- 28:33SPEAKER_04: Um I heard it from the horse's mouth.
- 28:36SPEAKER_04: Heard it from the horse's mouth.
- 28:37SPEAKER_04: Um oh, how about this?
- 28:40SPEAKER_04: I this is oh yeah.
- 28:44SPEAKER_04: Oh, look at that! I'm trying to remember I'm trying to remember who makes this.
- 28:48SPEAKER_04: Is it Ferrari?
- 28:49SPEAKER_04: No, it's not Ferrari.
- 28:50SPEAKER_04: Is it Ducati?
- 28:51SPEAKER_04: But no, it's not that.
- 28:52SPEAKER_04: Uh it's a it's an obscure Italian manufacturer.
- 28:55SPEAKER_04: Um, but I do definitely know the name of the aeroplane because this is called the Turine.
- 29:00SPEAKER_06: Turin.
- 29:01SPEAKER_06: Like like pork terrine.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: Like pork terrine.
- 29:04SPEAKER_04: I presume I presume it comes from Turin.
- 29:07SPEAKER_06: Turin.
- 29:07SPEAKER_04: I no, I don't well, I don't know.
- 29:09SPEAKER_06: So it's a Turin Turine.
- 29:10SPEAKER_04: A turinterine.
- 29:13SPEAKER_04: No one says Turin and Turin, do they?
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Turino.
- 29:16SPEAKER_06: Oh, Turino Turin.
- 29:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:18SPEAKER_06: Okay, that makes it much better.
- 29:19SPEAKER_04: Any anyway, so this is a this is a 600 kg microlite, or is gonna be, uh hasn't flown yet, is due to start flight testing when it uh uh when aero is over.
- 29:29SPEAKER_04: Uh powered by Rotex 916IS.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: Uh, apparently 200-knot crews.
- 29:34SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 29:35SPEAKER_04: 44 knot stall.
- 29:37SPEAKER_04: Although it hasn't hasn't flown yet, so that could be who knows.
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, those those numbers.
- 29:41SPEAKER_06: And the best thing it's red.
- 29:43SPEAKER_04: I there were a lot of people really taken with this.
- 29:46SPEAKER_05: You know, up close, it looks much better than it does in the picture.
- 29:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 29:51SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 29:51SPEAKER_07: Even better.
- 29:52SPEAKER_07: That looks good in the picture.
- 29:53SPEAKER_07: I suppose also when you're flying is quite visible as opposed to white aircraft.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: Uh oh, there was this.
- 29:59SPEAKER_04: Um, so black shape, who I'm I'm never sure, I'm never sure how many aeroplanes they sell because it's we haven't seen a lot of black shapes around, but they quite often turn up with new stuff.
- 30:10SPEAKER_04: And this was the so they've got an airplane called the Gabriel, which is Lycoming powered.
- 30:15SPEAKER_04: But this Angel.
- 30:16SPEAKER_04: I think like the Angel, yeah.
- 30:18SPEAKER_04: But this is the Gabriel Evo, and that's powered by a Rotex 916.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: So they get around these Rotex 916.
- 30:25SPEAKER_04: They do.
- 30:26SPEAKER_04: It's fair to say that Rotex the 916 now is is pretty much becoming the the popular engine of choice.
- 30:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so um what else you got then Ed?
- 30:36SPEAKER_04: And what else have I got?
- 30:37SPEAKER_04: Um uh oh, also from Black Shape.
- 30:40SPEAKER_04: Uh they're like, oh, we're going to make a um a hybrid a hybrid version of the Prime.
- 30:46SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm less sure about this, yeah, because anything that appears as a fuselage with some tech in, you go, is this really happening, or has someone gone there's a grant we would like bit by bit throughout the whole show over the years, there's more and more weird things that appear that never quite seem to make it to market or anything else.
- 31:04SPEAKER_05: Do you remember that extra that had like the Oh, but that was actually a thing, wasn't it?
- 31:09SPEAKER_05: Well, you remember, yeah.
- 31:10SPEAKER_05: You can't go and buy one though, can you?
- 31:11SPEAKER_05: No, no one ever came up with an actual electric extra.
- 31:14SPEAKER_05: That was a shame.
- 31:14SPEAKER_05: The Pippi Strail is the only one that's currently certified and out there.
- 31:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:17SPEAKER_05: And and they sold one last year.
- 31:19SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 31:20SPEAKER_05: According to the gamma numbers.
- 31:22SPEAKER_04: Uh oh, wingtip news?
- 31:24SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 31:25SPEAKER_05: You knew it.
- 31:26SPEAKER_05: You knew.
- 31:26SPEAKER_05: I see, yeah.
- 31:27SPEAKER_05: It's a company called Skyhawk that went and 3D scanned the wingtips of Cessna 172, 182, and 206.
- 31:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 31:34SPEAKER_05: And then put the the you talk to these people on the stand, they're like it's like talking to mad professors because they're like seriously talk about all sorts of complicated maths and stuff like that.
- 31:45SPEAKER_06: Very specialist interest.
- 31:46SPEAKER_05: Big, big, big brains.
- 31:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 31:48SPEAKER_05: Um big brains and massive tips.
- 31:56SPEAKER_05: Um just have to be careful there.
- 32:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:00SPEAKER_05: Um these massive tips add I don't know, six or eight inches perhaps to the wingspan.
- 32:08SPEAKER_05: Well, okay.
- 32:09SPEAKER_05: But the idea is they're swept up.
- 32:11SPEAKER_05: Or are they inches?
- 32:12SPEAKER_05: No, they're actually they're actually larger.
- 32:14SPEAKER_05: They are actually larger.
- 32:15SPEAKER_05: And this one, because it is swept up, um, this one's optimised for climb.
- 32:18SPEAKER_05: So they're kind of hoping to sell that to parachute aircraft, clubs, stuff like that to get a better, better climb rate.
- 32:24SPEAKER_05: But they will have some that are optimised for other bits and pieces.
- 32:26SPEAKER_05: They're they've done a whole whole sort, whole sort of other whole bunch of other stuff as well.
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's that's a structural mod, isn't it, really?
- 32:33SPEAKER_02: So it's gonna have to go through it.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, no, it's okay.
- 32:35SPEAKER_05: It's go through, you'll be they'll be getting STC for it.
- 32:38SPEAKER_05: Right, yeah.
- 32:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 32:39SPEAKER_05: That's the plan.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Um, you know how sometimes people take nose wheel airplanes and turn them into tailwheel airplanes.
- 32:45SPEAKER_04: And they most always look better for it.
- 32:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they almost always look better for it.
- 32:48SPEAKER_04: This happened.
- 32:49SPEAKER_06: But that didn't look yeah, even the aircraft looks a bit horrified at the end.
- 32:56SPEAKER_04: I think the aeroplane is surprised at itself.
- 32:59SPEAKER_06: What happened?
- 33:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:01SPEAKER_06: Oh jeez.
- 33:02SPEAKER_04: So this is this is the Savannah SR in tail dragger form.
- 33:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:06SPEAKER_04: Uh, and the Savannah Savannah microlight is um we know it because there's a 600k excuse me, 600 kg version that's going to be a really popular trainer.
- 33:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:17SPEAKER_04: Um, but I have to say, this for me is a bit of a miss.
- 33:20SPEAKER_04: You you could have to look out, you could have to stick your head out the window when you're gonna be able to do it.
- 33:23SPEAKER_04: Does it have does it have a periscope, do you think, so you can see forwards?
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: That comes out at the bottom.
- 33:28SPEAKER_05: I just it's I'm not sure what the point is.
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: Personally, there you go.
- 33:33SPEAKER_04: There we go.
- 33:33SPEAKER_04: Um, other oddity news was this.
- 33:37SPEAKER_04: Oh, this is the this is um this is the B100T from Caladus Aerospace.
- 33:44SPEAKER_04: But um they subcontracted the naming to Garmin.
- 33:48SPEAKER_05: Sorry, Garmin.
- 33:50SPEAKER_04: But the um so the the story behind this is uh there's a company called Kalen Aero, and Kalen Aero were the people who kind of brought the Junkers brand to life.
- 33:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the German engineering company, yeah, for Junkers aircraft.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: Uh and they bring they've they've clearly taken their skills and branched out, and they've um uh so Caladas have a bunch of turbine trainers, but clearly went, you know what we need is a tiny Rotex version of our trainers.
- 34:15SPEAKER_04: But there's a you've got the story on this, haven't you?
- 34:18SPEAKER_04: Or you know more.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: I know a little bit more.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:20SPEAKER_02: The boss of Kalen, yeah, who's Mr.
- 34:22SPEAKER_02: Kalen, a couple of his first names.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: Yes, but he said he wanted to make a Porsche, a flying Porsche, and this is I his idea of it of a flying Porsche.
- 34:30SPEAKER_04: Is it Rotex Nine Tex?
- 34:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I don't know.
- 34:34SPEAKER_04: I there was a Rotex of some description in there.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but um, yeah.
- 34:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think you'd have to have got uh stories of right about that.
- 34:41SPEAKER_04: Um other other cool things uh on display.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: So this um uh from a company called Direct Fly.
- 34:49SPEAKER_04: Uh they've uh they were they make the Alto NG, which uh came to the UK for proper micro light trading last year and will be there this year and is being brought to the UK as a side as another project.
- 35:01SPEAKER_04: They're working on this this airplane called the Stoll Cruiser, which is pretty cool.
- 35:05SPEAKER_04: It's a big spacious cabin, yeah, um nice looking.
- 35:09SPEAKER_04: Um it's got a nice cantilever wing, um, so no struts to interfere with the view from those doors, massive flaps, um uh and slats, automatic slats, the inboard ones pop out when the flaps pop out, um, and uh then outboard ones which are just kind of free floating.
- 35:28SPEAKER_04: So um, but they are this has been a real slow burn project for them.
- 35:32SPEAKER_04: Just huge inside, it's massive, massive, yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_05: Absolutely massive.
- 35:36SPEAKER_05: You know what though, yeah.
- 35:37SPEAKER_05: I think you've picked the best angle for it because there is an angle like when you look straight down at the windscreen, it looks a little bit that that interface between the wing, the cantilever wing and the windscreen.
- 35:47SPEAKER_05: Not perfect, it's like it just looks like it's just I don't know.
- 35:50SPEAKER_05: Okay, it's like they've had a bad eyebrow tattoo.
- 35:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, anyway, that aeroplane is still in development.
- 35:56SPEAKER_04: Um, by their own admission, they've they've had to they they are refining it because it's it wasn't perfect when they first came out with it.
- 36:03SPEAKER_02: But I bumped into Paul Dewhurst, who's one of the guys who's going to be importing the Alt NG.
- 36:09SPEAKER_02: And asked him, what do you think of this?
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: And yeah, he said, Yeah, you like it, but you know, it's a little bit overweight at the moment.
- 36:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they know they've got to do a bit of work to get it get into shape.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, I feel much better about it if Paul's involved because he is like yeah, yeah.
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: And and the I chat ultimately um DirectFly are looking at making that a 600 kg micro light, yeah, first for Czech uh for the Czech market and Germany, but they said they will come to the UK if there's interest.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a little bit of news actually from Paul.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he said he hasn't had any new aircraft to sell, Sky Rangers, because the factory in Ukraine was was uh destroyed by the Russians last year, but they've now restarted production, they've spread the they've spread the factory out into various different places, and so he's getting new aircraft very soon.
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: He'll have a new one.
- 36:52SPEAKER_02: Excellent.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: That's good news.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, oh uh Dave, you probably know something about this, the H-55.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: I do know something about this.
- 37:01SPEAKER_02: This will be in our best of uh aero video.
- 37:05SPEAKER_02: Uh this this is the aircraft, this not this particular one, but uh one's exactly the same as it flew across the States, and uh that is going to go on sale next year.
- 37:14SPEAKER_02: They're in the final stages of getting uh EASA certification for it.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: All the parts, the airframe, the uh battery system, and the motor, they're already certified.
- 37:24SPEAKER_02: All they've got to finish is certifying the thing as a whole.
- 37:27SPEAKER_04: And this is, I think this is I know we've got the Vellus Electro, but I think this is the next exciting stage in having a this will be the second aircraft to be certified for world sales.
- 37:37SPEAKER_02: Amazing thing is, despite it going out at a price of$450,000, yeah.
- 37:42SPEAKER_02: Um, they've sold a hundred already 50 in the UK, in the in Europe, yeah, and 50 in the US on the back of that US tour.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: That's cool.
- 37:51SPEAKER_04: That's cool.
- 37:51SPEAKER_04: Um excuse me staring at the tiny screen.
- 37:54SPEAKER_04: Um, flying wing news.
- 37:56SPEAKER_04: Yes, this is cool.
- 37:58SPEAKER_04: And you may remember if you watched the flyer the flyer show a couple of weeks ago, you'll remember in Ian's what caught his eye was this the get wing.
- 38:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, does it still catch your eye?
- 38:10SPEAKER_04: A little bit less.
- 38:11SPEAKER_04: A bit less.
- 38:12SPEAKER_05: I think it's really cute.
- 38:13SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 38:14SPEAKER_05: I'm I'm I'm I'm troubled by this pile of books.
- 38:17SPEAKER_06: Isn't that Trevor Thomps?
- 38:19SPEAKER_05: No, they there are they've been chosen specifically, but it's kind of like it's one of those things that someone thought was a great idea, but no one had the courage to say, you know what, not swear really well.
- 38:28SPEAKER_04: There's a lot that they got inspired by each book, which is actually if you look at all this all the titles, yeah.
- 38:35SPEAKER_04: They're all things that have inspired the designers of this.
- 38:37SPEAKER_04: But like Ian says, I think sometimes you just kind of you kind of put it on the ground.
- 38:42SPEAKER_04: Anyway, it's electric, flying wing, and it is it's beautiful, beautifully made.
- 38:45SPEAKER_04: Um I thought it was gonna be yes, yeah, yeah, it is a lot smaller, but uh but no less lovely.
- 38:52SPEAKER_04: Um uh also around oh there's um I'll throw that up just because Bristelle here.
- 38:58SPEAKER_04: Oh yes, yeah.
- 38:59SPEAKER_04: Um Bristelle have got their certified 916 power B23 and uh nine and their 912.
- 39:07SPEAKER_02: That's right, yeah.
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: So we should say that Bristol, up till now they've only been available in UK as a kit plane.
- 39:15SPEAKER_02: But now they are now they're being going to be available as fully certified airplane, and that's ready built.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: We were saying that Bristol have come on an amazing journey question for you from some chap called Steer with my rear.
- 39:26SPEAKER_04: Which is, as we know I know the artist formerly known as Johnny Salmon.
- 39:31SPEAKER_04: Um, Ed, what happened to that Italian made?
- 39:34SPEAKER_04: We haven't I that's a good question, Johnny.
- 39:36SPEAKER_04: I mean that three-quarter scale T68, T66 and A, that was your fancy hanger choice four or five years ago, maybe five years ago, I think.
- 39:47SPEAKER_04: Um that's that well that vanished, never to be seen again, which sometimes happens at Aero.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, it can be a bit sad.
- 39:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, yeah, the Bristol thing, just amazing to think a home-built company is now like a pretty big certified aircraft Titan in the.
- 40:01SPEAKER_02: Well, let's not forget Cyro started off as a home-built company.
- 40:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's BK30.
- 40:06SPEAKER_04: That's very true.
- 40:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, uh Flying Professor, there you go.
- 40:10SPEAKER_05: Not convinced I'd like to be cruising in turbulence anywhere near 200 knots in a microphone.
- 40:15SPEAKER_06: I did see, I don't know if you guys saw this.
- 40:17SPEAKER_06: There's a active turbulence cancelling aircraft at the show, which is fascinating.
- 40:23SPEAKER_05: It's on a it's on a shark, yeah.
- 40:25SPEAKER_05: So it's it's an option.
- 40:27SPEAKER_05: No, it's not not on a turbo shark.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: T turbulence.
- 40:31SPEAKER_03: T turbulence turbulence.
- 40:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but it's it's all so so the anti-turbulence thing is is all about tiny flaps, isn't it?
- 40:39SPEAKER_04: It's just tiny flaps.
- 40:40SPEAKER_04: Tiny flaps on your flaps.
- 40:41SPEAKER_06: A tiny flap or a bastid flaps, yeah.
- 40:44SPEAKER_06: Um keep a straight face look.
- 40:46SPEAKER_06: I know you can.
- 40:47SPEAKER_06: No, too.
- 40:49SPEAKER_05: I didn't say£56 a month.
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: He definitely didn't say£56 a month.
- 40:53SPEAKER_04: Um in the odd things of Aero, there was this amazing ducted fan.
- 41:00SPEAKER_04: You go, uh, someone thinks that making a ducted fan autogyro is a good idea.
- 41:04SPEAKER_06: You could put googly eyes on those and then it would look really cute.
- 41:06SPEAKER_04: It would it doesn't googly eyes.
- 41:08SPEAKER_04: Actually, this is a technology demonstrator for a much bigger um little kind uh much kinder, uh much kinder, much bigger type of auto gyro that will be used for like um mass transit.
- 41:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so a mass transit auto gyro.
- 41:24SPEAKER_04: Yes, I know.
- 41:25SPEAKER_06: Interesting interesting.
- 41:27SPEAKER_04: Um the world will never see a mass transit autogyro.
- 41:30SPEAKER_04: So um in the UK, the first Ellipse uh Ellipse Microlight has been certified for the 600 kg category.
- 41:39SPEAKER_04: Um meanwhile, ellipse uh from the factory sent their new um new demo model with the 916, another 916.
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: What you can't see there is the ellipse wing is very they are very elliptical, aren't they?
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: It's a beautiful shocking, it's a beautiful wing.
- 41:55SPEAKER_04: It is a beautiful wing.
- 41:56SPEAKER_04: The fuselage they they used all the beauty box, they used the delivery of beauty on the wing.
- 42:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, the the the the fuselage is nice, but not the beautiful as a wing.
- 42:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so uh what else?
- 42:08SPEAKER_04: Oh uh Alpi, uh the Pioneer 400, again, yes, uh RoTex 916.
- 42:15SPEAKER_06: It is whistling.
- 42:18SPEAKER_04: Do you think it is whistling, isn't it?
- 42:20SPEAKER_06: No, it's not lip fillers, just really bad job.
- 42:23SPEAKER_04: It's what anyway, I was gonna say so.
- 42:27SPEAKER_04: Alpi had the had their pioneer 400 with a 916, but Dave, you've been looking at this, which is the Pioneer 800 with two 916s, yeah.
- 42:37SPEAKER_04: That's twice as good.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's this is actually a very, very beautiful aircraft.
- 42:42SPEAKER_02: This is slightly not really nicely made.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: Really nicely made.
- 42:45SPEAKER_04: And that's a wide shot, that doesn't do it.
- 42:47SPEAKER_04: It's it's classically Italianly good looking.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: It's it's absolutely it's said to be a low drag, very aerodynamic efficient shape.
- 42:55SPEAKER_02: Uh it's just it's just so well made, looks great.
- 42:58SPEAKER_02: And the cabin on it is fantastic.
- 43:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's a great brilliant colour.
- 43:01SPEAKER_02: Where are you standing?
- 43:04SPEAKER_04: I was being held by my toes.
- 43:06SPEAKER_04: Good chart, uh, but yeah, uh fabulous aeroplane.
- 43:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:10SPEAKER_04: Uh and again, but covered in the best what will be the best of aero video, which Henry is working on over there somewhere.
- 43:16SPEAKER_04: As we speak.
- 43:17SPEAKER_04: Um, what else was there?
- 43:20SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm I'm trying to not because we're gonna have a segment of our favourite things from aero.
- 43:28SPEAKER_04: That uh that we can't really we're not gonna talk about that because that's in the our favorite things.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: So we're kind of is that out there?
- 43:34SPEAKER_04: Um I don't know.
- 43:35SPEAKER_05: Uh maybe.
- 43:36SPEAKER_05: I'll tell you what, while Ed's looking at that, I went and had a poke around some of the EC solutions that are out there.
- 43:41SPEAKER_05: There's some really good, funky stuff that are started starting to combine up to 30 different types of EC that you get all over the place for depending on conspicucity.
- 43:50SPEAKER_05: Electronic conspicuous, yeah.
- 43:52SPEAKER_05: Um not European community, and then and then bringing that together and displaying it on things like Sky Demon or your app of choice, which is probably.
- 44:00SPEAKER_05: Going to be sky didn't.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: It's going to be sky didn't.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:02SPEAKER_05: Um, and then there's a there's a guy who's kind of said, Well, you know, it's okay looking at your phone, but sometimes you want to take a picture, and you get he said, So he's created this little box with a really nice colour screen, it's 390 quid or something, and it just takes the the signal from it'll take it from an SE2, it'll take it from all of these kind of things, and it is it's a little portable thing, it's really really quite nice actually.
- 44:23SPEAKER_05: Where?
- 44:24SPEAKER_05: So, who was this?
- 44:25SPEAKER_05: Uh, it's probably I can't remember the name of, but I'm in contact with them.
- 44:28SPEAKER_05: I've got one on its way to me.
- 44:30SPEAKER_05: You should have a yeah.
- 44:31SPEAKER_04: You'll have to show me where it is in the show because I would like to see that.
- 44:34SPEAKER_04: I had I've missed I've missed that.
- 44:35SPEAKER_04: And that's the trouble.
- 44:36SPEAKER_04: Sometimes there's lots of tiny lots of things, lots of small stuff on display that you kind of miss.
- 44:41SPEAKER_05: Well, and interestingly, uh, in that if you go to the sort of sky demon in A6 and go a little bit deeper in there, it's it's a little bit on the right.
- 44:49SPEAKER_05: There's all sorts of funny stuff.
- 44:50SPEAKER_05: There's there's a company there doing heated, heated leading edge wings, and they're talking about um won't be certified for flight into known icing, right?
- 44:59SPEAKER_05: But it'll shadow icing.
- 45:00SPEAKER_05: Um and it will it'll use uh that they're trying to persuade Iasa to include it in a CS stand thing.
- 45:07SPEAKER_05: So it'll be able to get you done with a really big that could have it could it could, yeah.
- 45:12SPEAKER_04: Um I'm going to um going back to the photos, uh so the uh I'm just looking for it.
- 45:19SPEAKER_04: This is great fun, isn't it?
- 45:21SPEAKER_04: Is it a great store watch ed looking for pictures?
- 45:24SPEAKER_06: Is it the maligator?
- 45:25SPEAKER_04: No, it's not the maligator.
- 45:27SPEAKER_04: There was a four report.
- 45:28SPEAKER_04: It's this um I like so I just I need to I know I know I need to flash this up, but I need to flash it up because uh in the comments uh Eretiq says, is that a T mu DA42?
- 45:40SPEAKER_04: No, that's that's very cruel, Darren.
- 45:43SPEAKER_04: That's not a TMU DA42.
- 45:45SPEAKER_05: Did you want to hear T mu who said this?
- 45:49SPEAKER_05: Which one which one looks like a flying coffin?
- 45:51SPEAKER_07: Yes, there was one, yes.
- 45:53SPEAKER_07: Um what was it?
- 45:56SPEAKER_07: The white the gyro.
- 45:57SPEAKER_04: Oh, the the auto gyro.
- 45:59SPEAKER_07: Maybe, yes.
- 45:59SPEAKER_04: That yeah, actually, that did look a bit like a flying coffin.
- 46:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's that is a good observation.
- 46:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, which kind of leads us on to did we have favourite aeroplanes from Aero?
- 46:09SPEAKER_07: Yes, we did, absolutely.
- 46:11SPEAKER_04: Okay, Dave, what was your favourite aeroplane?
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: Well, my favourite was the LP Pioneer 800 twin, just simply because it was so beautifully designed and so beautifully finished.
- 46:20SPEAKER_02: Considering it's a kit plane, essentially, uh if you buy one, you build it with the factory, so you're not being left on your own, but it is absolutely astonishing, super finished, a real sort of made in Italy type property.
- 46:33SPEAKER_04: Is it gonna be uh are you gonna is there any ready-to-fly option for this?
- 46:36SPEAKER_04: No, no, it's just kit painting.
- 46:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's just kit painting.
- 46:39SPEAKER_05: That's a bit tedious, isn't it?
- 46:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the only thing that I wondered about, because the you can't really see it on that picture, but the engines seem to sit quite high.
- 46:46SPEAKER_05: They're quite high.
- 46:46SPEAKER_05: There's gonna be quite a lot of pitch change with some does make you win acceleration there, does, doesn't it?
- 46:51SPEAKER_04: But we'll see.
- 46:51SPEAKER_04: Um, Annabelle, what what because you arrived today?
- 46:55SPEAKER_06: I did arrive today, but you had a good look round.
- 46:58SPEAKER_06: Uh yes, and I have to say, it's still I I eyes cannot be turned from the Juncker's A50 heritage.
- 47:04SPEAKER_04: Uh that for me is still beautiful.
- 47:06SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 47:07SPEAKER_04: I'm glad you didn't say A60 because I I I I heard someone else talking about the A60 today, and they were like, the A50 is so fabulous.
- 47:17SPEAKER_04: How did they think the A60 was a good idea?
- 47:20SPEAKER_06: It's just beautiful though.
- 47:21SPEAKER_06: Everything about this, like the corrugated metal, the analog kit, the the radial engine, the wooden prop.
- 47:28SPEAKER_06: I know it's just yeah, beautiful.
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: I really like that.
- 47:32SPEAKER_05: Um, Ian.
- 47:34SPEAKER_05: Well, I went for something a little bit strange because outside.
- 47:36SPEAKER_05: Did you?
- 47:37SPEAKER_05: That's not like you.
- 47:38SPEAKER_05: Well, outside, there's like a business aviation show with a lot of really, really boring jets and people with no souls.
- 47:45SPEAKER_04: Um sorry, people with no souls.
- 47:49SPEAKER_04: Oh, I flashed up a photo and I don't know how I did that.
- 47:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I don't.
- 47:52SPEAKER_05: Can we have my one?
- 47:53SPEAKER_05: My one's the Cessna Sky Courier.
- 47:56SPEAKER_05: So this thing's like a massive non-pressurized um twin turboprop thing that they they launched with 50 servs to FedEx.
- 48:04SPEAKER_05: I know it's not a typical GA, but the interesting thing is they I think they came in came with this in 2016 and it's now certified delivering and everything else.
- 48:12SPEAKER_05: So Cessna, Stroke Textron, can, when they get a wiggle on, produce something really good.
- 48:16SPEAKER_05: Um that's a big project.
- 48:18SPEAKER_05: I think that's going to be the new twin autos like 19 seats if you want it inside, or three of those specific cargo containers.
- 48:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and it has a pretty personal.
- 48:26SPEAKER_05: It's got the biggest door I've seen outside of a natural airline.
- 48:29SPEAKER_05: It's got a big, big, big, big, big door.
- 48:31SPEAKER_05: Um, and if you look at other stuff that Textron have been doing, you've got the Pantera, which okay, Pippestral started back in 2012.
- 48:37SPEAKER_05: And they're still talking about, oh yes, we're working on certification.
- 48:40SPEAKER_05: I mean, come on, either do it or drop it.
- 48:42SPEAKER_05: You mind that.
- 48:43SPEAKER_05: And then the Denali, which started in which is the which is Beechcraft's PC-12 competitor, isn't it?
- 48:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 48:50SPEAKER_05: Brushed lightly with an ugly stick.
- 48:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah, some bits of that not the best.
- 48:55SPEAKER_05: And that's still that's become a bit of a mystery.
- 48:58SPEAKER_05: A bit of a what did they say to you, Dave, when you said, How's the denali?
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: Well, obviously, I asked the guy who's in charge of piston sales rather than uh the uh turbo property.
- 49:07SPEAKER_04: He said he went the dun dun dun what he said they're working on it.
- 49:12SPEAKER_04: They I know I think they are hoping the d denali's going to be certified this year.
- 49:17SPEAKER_04: For Oscos or something.
- 49:18SPEAKER_04: I would guess.
- 49:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but that's been it's taken a while, hasn't it?
- 49:21SPEAKER_05: For one, it's interesting, one yeah, single engine.
- 49:24SPEAKER_04: But the Denali is the classic new airframe, new engine.
- 49:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I think that might be a case of probably and at least at least with the your um sky career, that's good old reliable PT6 on an aluminium box.
- 49:37SPEAKER_05: Ed, someone's taking too much of an interest is Ed not wearing shoes.
- 49:41SPEAKER_04: How do you know that?
- 49:43SPEAKER_04: You weirdo.
- 49:45SPEAKER_04: Well, the answer is no, he's not.
- 49:47SPEAKER_04: I'm not wearing shoes.
- 49:49SPEAKER_04: Socks.
- 49:51SPEAKER_04: We all take our shoes off.
- 49:52SPEAKER_04: I'm home for the night.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: And to be fair, after all the walking we've done, our feet are on fire.
- 49:57SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 49:57SPEAKER_04: I'll tell you what, that's hard work, isn't it?
- 49:59SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 49:59SPEAKER_04: Karina, what did you think?
- 50:01SPEAKER_07: Ah, well, I found Aura Aero Integral R, which is aerobatic training aircraft, side by side.
- 50:07SPEAKER_07: And if I was to do aerobatics, learn aerobatics, this is the aircraft I would choose.
- 50:12SPEAKER_04: That is, I I reckon that is one of the most attractive aircraft at the show.
- 50:17SPEAKER_07: Oh, I really loved it.
- 50:18SPEAKER_07: It it is wood structure carbon reinforced.
- 50:21SPEAKER_07: Uh it has light combing engine of 210 horsepower.
- 50:24SPEAKER_04: Is that the IO390?
- 50:26SPEAKER_07: Is it yes, it is.
- 50:29SPEAKER_07: Um, it is um, of course, yes approved.
- 50:31SPEAKER_07: It's getting FAA approval this month.
- 50:34SPEAKER_07: And drum rolls, it is.
- 50:36SPEAKER_04: I think is it FAA approved already?
- 50:38SPEAKER_07: But this month is being approved this month for FAA.
- 50:42SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and RAM rolls, it is being approved by UK later on this year.
- 50:48SPEAKER_07: That is that is what I have to do.
- 50:50SPEAKER_04: You've snuck out some really good news there.
- 50:52SPEAKER_07: I know, I've worked really hard on this one.
- 50:53SPEAKER_07: Uh the loading factor well, loading factories now distress.
- 50:58SPEAKER_07: Minus 7.5 to plus 7.5, which I think is uh great great.
- 51:03SPEAKER_07: It is equipped with parachute.
- 51:06SPEAKER_04: But like a whole airframe parachute.
- 51:07SPEAKER_07: Like a whole airframe.
- 51:08SPEAKER_07: So I don't know if any of you know an aerobatic aircraft that is equipped with a I don't think I know of an aerobatic airplane.
- 51:17SPEAKER_05: I don't see aerobatic pilots who equip themselves of parachute.
- 51:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but I've never heard of a whole air whole airplane, whole airframe parachute in an aerobatic airplane.
- 51:24SPEAKER_07: And I don't know if you ever have had or come across an aerobatic aircraft that has adjustable angle seat.
- 51:29SPEAKER_07: I have never known an aerobatic and you can put a 30 kilogram luggage on that aircraft if you wanted to.
- 51:36SPEAKER_05: But you not not when you're going aerobatting, I imagine.
- 51:39SPEAKER_05: Why not?
- 51:40SPEAKER_06: But it's a reasonable sized dog, isn't it?
- 51:43SPEAKER_04: Normally an aerobatic airplane, you go go touring with that and you can take a toothbrush and that's it.
- 51:48SPEAKER_04: So 30 kilos.
- 51:51SPEAKER_06: It's several bottles of wine, isn't it?
- 51:53SPEAKER_06: It is.
- 51:53SPEAKER_06: Not I know wine, but a lot of peck is a kit cat, so yeah, a lot of kick cat.
- 51:58SPEAKER_04: But for me for me, that is it's a pretty cool airplane.
- 52:02SPEAKER_04: It's a pretty cool airplane.
- 52:04SPEAKER_05: I mean, uh, don't want to can you flash the picture back up again.
- 52:06SPEAKER_05: I can flash the picture back up when I there we go.
- 52:09SPEAKER_05: I just want to say yeah that that picture, as great as it is, doesn't do it justice because when you stand up close, it sits really high.
- 52:20SPEAKER_05: Yes, and it's it's it's a beautiful looking airplane.
- 52:23SPEAKER_04: I think anything that stands tall has a real regal look.
- 52:26SPEAKER_04: And this is a tall.
- 52:27SPEAKER_04: I was holding the holding the camera up kind of high above it.
- 52:30SPEAKER_06: And you're about seven foot tall, and I'm quite speech.
- 52:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but this is yeah, you you're kind of the tip of the spinners on your forehead, isn't it?
- 52:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's a really lovely.
- 52:38SPEAKER_07: You have a very generous cockpit size on the inside, so you're not really crammed in with your instructors as well.
- 52:44SPEAKER_05: Did you sit in it?
- 52:45SPEAKER_07: I did sit in it.
- 52:46SPEAKER_05: Oh wow, you spent all of your time going around sitting in aircraft.
- 52:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 52:50SPEAKER_06: No, no, I just took the assignment very seriously.
- 52:53SPEAKER_06: When you did sit in it, did you go in?
- 52:57SPEAKER_06: I really wanted to.
- 52:58SPEAKER_06: You should have done.
- 52:59SPEAKER_06: No, I didn't.
- 53:00SPEAKER_06: Go back tomorrow and do that.
- 53:01SPEAKER_04: I think if you were yeah, I because we were talking about this earlier, and you were saying that actually if you wanted to learn to fly aerobatics, you'd want someone sat next to you behind you or in front of you.
- 53:10SPEAKER_06: I would, yes.
- 53:10SPEAKER_06: You want them to hold your hand, really, don't you?
- 53:12SPEAKER_06: And it gets scary.
- 53:14SPEAKER_07: Don't you?
- 53:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:19SPEAKER_06: Moving on.
- 53:20SPEAKER_04: Moving on, um, which just leaves me.
- 53:23SPEAKER_04: And um and it's been a it's been a visitor to Aero for on and off over the years for quite a long time.
- 53:30SPEAKER_04: Um, but I have to say, I really f this this year I really fell in love with the Scale Wings SW51, partly because I had a chance to to uh to have a really good chat with Christian von Kessel, great name there, almost should be a bomb villa then.
- 53:46SPEAKER_04: He should be he should be at Juncker's, really.
- 53:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he should be at Juncker's.
- 53:50SPEAKER_04: But anyway, um Did you sit in it?
- 53:52SPEAKER_04: I did sit in it and I haven't got a photo.
- 53:54SPEAKER_04: New trend for sitting in things.
- 53:56SPEAKER_04: Sitting in things that's to do with aeroplanes.
- 54:00SPEAKER_04: But um, yeah, so uh this so Christian von Kessel, he's the guy who basically he he put on he put a bunch of the money behind um getting this going, and they have spent an absolute fortune on this.
- 54:11SPEAKER_04: But it's it was it's a perfect, and I mean perfect replica.
- 54:17SPEAKER_04: It cut every screw, rivet, uh, and airframe detail is perfectly reproduced in carbon fiber, uh, at like seven, I think it's something like 70, 76% scale or something.
- 54:28SPEAKER_04: Um, but this airplane has really come of age because they started it when it began, it had a Rotex 912, and 100 horsepower isn't really going to do anything for a scale.
- 54:37SPEAKER_04: But the nine the Rotex 916, because this has got it, um, has been the perfect fit that for this aeroplane.
- 54:44SPEAKER_04: And he was saying that um for them, they took an airplane to Oshkosh uh a few years back, uh a couple of years back, and this really kick-started American sales, and American sales have gone crazy, and that's helped with the the with European sales as well.
- 54:59SPEAKER_04: And um, it's just I sat in it and it felt like a proper little warbird.
- 55:04SPEAKER_04: It was very, very cool.
- 55:05SPEAKER_06: I think I should go and see it in it.
- 55:06SPEAKER_06: As the resident Mustang pilot, I feel that I'm equipped to comment on the you've got the full size, yeah, you've got the full-size Mustang experience.
- 55:13SPEAKER_04: I've got the 70 set the 70% scale.
- 55:16SPEAKER_05: As beautiful as that is, yeah.
- 55:17SPEAKER_05: It's not a real one, is it?
- 55:18SPEAKER_05: It's not real one.
- 55:19SPEAKER_05: Isn't it slightly the right word?
- 55:22SPEAKER_05: That we're in 2026 and two of our favourite aircraft, you know.
- 55:26SPEAKER_05: One of those is is a replica of a is a style one before.
- 55:30SPEAKER_05: Yours is a replica.
- 55:31SPEAKER_04: Well, it's a bit like it's a bit like modern feature films, isn't it?
- 55:34SPEAKER_04: It's like people have run out of good ideas, yeah.
- 55:37SPEAKER_03: Celebration.
- 55:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and you and you have to go back to the uh it's like the the things that people feel good about.
- 55:43SPEAKER_04: It's like old style designs.
- 55:45SPEAKER_04: But that's why when you get something like the Aura Aura Aero Integral R, you go, wow, there we go.
- 55:50SPEAKER_04: There's still some new, there's some still some cool new stuff out there.
- 55:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:54SPEAKER_05: What are people saying in the do dogs like doing arrows?
- 55:58SPEAKER_05: Who knows?
- 55:58SPEAKER_05: Um ask Tom Cruise to fly it, that must be a Mustang thing.
- 56:08SPEAKER_05: Uh he would he be the right scale to fly that mustang.
- 56:10SPEAKER_03: He might actually be, yeah.
- 56:14SPEAKER_05: And of course, of course they like it.
- 56:16SPEAKER_05: They like that flight.
- 56:17SPEAKER_05: Oh, very good.
- 56:18SPEAKER_05: Oops, where am I?
- 56:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they oh you happen there.
- 56:21SPEAKER_05: Are you all through?
- 56:22SPEAKER_06: I mean, Teaspoon spends half her time upside down, so maybe it should be alright.
- 56:25SPEAKER_05: No, we but but otherwise they're back into shoes.
- 56:28SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 56:28SPEAKER_05: Good same.
- 56:29SPEAKER_05: How much for the LP?
- 56:30SPEAKER_05: Do you know?
- 56:30SPEAKER_05: I'm not sure price is going to be LP.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: Well, it's 600,000 uh euros, 600,000 euros.
- 56:36SPEAKER_02: You went for all the currencies that have done it.
- 56:38SPEAKER_02: All those euros there is a deal on from the show.
- 56:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:42SPEAKER_02: First year that they'll sell it for 500,000.
- 56:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but includes two Rotex 916s.
- 56:49SPEAKER_04: So that's a hundred thousand, that's a hundred thousand pounds worth of engines.
- 56:52SPEAKER_04: Exactly, yeah.
- 56:53SPEAKER_04: Um Jane asks a very important question.
- 56:55SPEAKER_04: Were there no Luscombs for Dave?
- 56:57SPEAKER_02: No.
- 56:57SPEAKER_04: I haven't seen a single Luscomb.
- 56:59SPEAKER_04: Uh I know we do, you know, we we do think that the answer for any question that we throw at Dave is Luscomb, but sometimes he does pick other stuff.
- 57:07SPEAKER_00: Do you know what?
- 57:08SPEAKER_04: Sorry, carry on.
- 57:10SPEAKER_05: In his defence.
- 57:10SPEAKER_05: No, no, that that was that's in his defense.
- 57:12SPEAKER_05: That was his defence.
- 57:13SPEAKER_05: Um we're over an hour at the moment, so we should move on to events.
- 57:17SPEAKER_00: Events, events.
- 57:19SPEAKER_05: So it's perfect.
- 57:20SPEAKER_02: Yep, yep.
- 57:21SPEAKER_02: So events this weekend, there's a flying at Priory Farm flying in Norfolk on Saturday.
- 57:26SPEAKER_02: On the weekend, Saturday and Sunday, there's a spring vintage flying at Contonavas.
- 57:31SPEAKER_02: Uh Sunday the 26th.
- 57:33SPEAKER_02: Did you know it's World Pilot Day?
- 57:35SPEAKER_06: I did, yes.
- 57:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:37SPEAKER_02: Uh it's World Pilot Day.
- 57:39SPEAKER_04: Is that?
- 57:39SPEAKER_04: I've got to say, World Pilot Day.
- 57:40SPEAKER_04: Is that when pilots going round uh walk round going, I'm a pilot?
- 57:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, did you know I'm a pilot looking at the side of my watch?
- 57:48SPEAKER_07: Every day.
- 57:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, every day.
- 57:50SPEAKER_02: Looking ahead to next week, there's the micro light trade fair at popham.
- 57:53SPEAKER_02: And somebody's added this in here.
- 57:54SPEAKER_02: I can't think of who it is, Annabelle.
- 57:57SPEAKER_02: 23rd of May, there's an engine run at Gatwick Aviation Museum.
- 58:01SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 58:01SPEAKER_02: Something called a Growler.
- 58:03SPEAKER_04: That's a that's the nickname for Shackleton.
- 58:06SPEAKER_04: Oh, is it?
- 58:07SPEAKER_04: Lightning.
- 58:08SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 58:09SPEAKER_06: I crossed out, I did write Shackleton and then I deleted it and wrote Growler instead.
- 58:13SPEAKER_04: I can't imagine why you wrote Growler.
- 58:14SPEAKER_05: Do you know if you can still fly in there or not?
- 58:16SPEAKER_06: You can't.
- 58:16SPEAKER_06: No, this trip's gone.
- 58:18SPEAKER_06: Yeah, this trip went about um eight years ago.
- 58:21SPEAKER_06: That's really sad.
- 58:22SPEAKER_06: And there's a big ditch now across the middle of Willows, but you can still walk down to the spotters area.
- 58:26SPEAKER_06: Oh, that's nice.
- 58:27SPEAKER_04: Oh, uh Michael Pear says there's an Oster fly in at Middlesoy on Saturday.
- 58:31SPEAKER_06: There's a what Ed.
- 58:33SPEAKER_04: Got it right.
- 58:34SPEAKER_04: I know, yeah.
- 58:35SPEAKER_04: Um Dan Smith says, I'm looking forward to Ed's trousered undercarriage highlights video.
- 58:40SPEAKER_04: There's no there were no trout, there were no good trousers there this year.
- 58:44SPEAKER_04: No, no, not even the leader hosting trousers.
- 58:46SPEAKER_04: Not even that bombshell.
- 58:48SPEAKER_05: And on that bombshell.
- 58:50SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 58:51SPEAKER_05: So before we go, I'd just like to say thank you very much for watching.
- 58:54SPEAKER_05: But just a favor, leave a comment.
- 58:56SPEAKER_05: Um, better still subscribe to our YouTube channel, and even better than that, subscribe to be a member of the Flyer Club, flyer.co.uk forward slash membership.
- 59:03SPEAKER_05: Just six pounds per month.
- 59:04SPEAKER_05: Do it the bargain.
- 59:05SPEAKER_05: Do it.
- 59:06SPEAKER_04: We've got so coming up soon, there's going to be the Flyer best of arrow video.
- 59:10SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 59:11SPEAKER_04: Uh, and there'll be a whole bunch of other standalone content that will come out from this show.
- 59:15SPEAKER_04: More content than you can shake a stick at.
- 59:17SPEAKER_04: And we can only do it with the help of our sponsors for our Timer Aero.
- 59:21SPEAKER_04: Very good.
- 59:22SPEAKER_04: And that is Serrus Aircraft.
- 59:24SPEAKER_04: Continental Aerospace Technologies.
- 59:26SPEAKER_04: Lone Mountain Aviation.
- 59:28SPEAKER_04: Thank you very much, all of you.
- 59:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:29SPEAKER_05: Much very much appreciated.
- 59:31SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 59:32SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 59:33SPEAKER_05: I think it's probably time for bed because we've got an early start in the morning.
- 59:36SPEAKER_05: We'll be back home tomorrow night.
- 59:37SPEAKER_04: Another early start.
- 59:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 59:38SPEAKER_04: If you're at the show tomorrow, please come and find us.
- 59:41SPEAKER_04: Don't forget 12 o'clock sausage meet with Annabelle.
- 59:45SPEAKER_05: I hope you I hope you enjoyed the amount of work that went into making the start of the show just look so amateurish, but was actually timed and planned for the second.
- 59:53SPEAKER_04: When it was I mean, it was an amount of work, but you know, when you do a lot of work and you just kind of sweep it off the worktop into a massive pile.
- 59:59SPEAKER_04: That was that was today.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_04: Anyway, that's it.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_04: Thank you very much, everyone.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_04: Have a good one.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_04: Cheers.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_04: Bye.
- 1:00:06unknown: Bye.
