- 1:30Speaker 4: show Man We are loaded Up Today. Start with the
- 1:32Speaker 4: weather for Metro News mediorologist Brian Hughes parcels sunshine hot
- 1:35Speaker 4: today near ninety for a high clear and mile tonight
- 1:38Speaker 4: for live on the levee, although when it gets started
- 1:40Speaker 4: it's actually going to be quite hot and humans to
- 1:43Speaker 4: stay hydrated. Overnight lows should be somewhere in the sixties.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Clouds sun tomorrow, continued hot, slight chance of maybe some
- 1:50Speaker 4: late rain or overnight rain. The rain and thunderstorm is
- 1:53Speaker 4: probably more likely for Sunday, especially the late Sunday, as
- 1:56Speaker 4: we will be in the upper eighties to low nineties
- 1:59Speaker 4: by the time Monday rolls around. You can follow Metro
- 2:02Speaker 4: News media ologist Brian Hughes on air and online on
- 2:06Speaker 4: all your favorite social media platforms by downloading the Metro
- 2:08Speaker 4: News television apps. Speaking of Live on the Levee tonight
- 2:11Speaker 4: six thirty had D Riverfront Park in Charleston, the most
- 2:14Speaker 4: of Auto Group stage Jim Strawn will be there tonight,
- 2:17Speaker 4: but he's not with us this morning. He's doing a
- 2:20Speaker 4: little traveling. He will be back, he tells me, for
- 2:22Speaker 4: tonight in his place doing the Live on the Levee program.
- 2:25Speaker 4: And she's already rare and to go. She's already in
- 2:28Speaker 4: studio with me. It's Amy Rain, good morning, welcome to
- 2:30Speaker 4: the show.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Good morning, thank you for having me.
- 2:32Speaker 4: And also a little bit later on Delica jb Acres,
- 2:34Speaker 4: who is gonna stop by. We're gonna talk to Amda
- 2:36Speaker 4: McDonald from the West Virginia Symphony and we'll get to
- 2:39Speaker 4: your calls and text too.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Welcome in now.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Our good friend Angel gild and Water from the Canal
- 2:43Speaker 4: to Charleston remains association with this week's Adopt Me Please
- 2:46Speaker 4: put her the week sponsored by Almost Heaven Interiors of
- 2:49Speaker 4: South Charleston.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Good morning, and Ge, welcome to the show.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Good morning, I'm happy to be here.
- 2:55Speaker 4: And I've got with us again. She was with us
- 2:57Speaker 4: last week. She's gonna be doing the Live on the
- 2:59Speaker 4: Levee segment day for Jim Strawn. Amy Rain is with us,
- 3:01Speaker 4: So Amy, Angie, Angie, Amy yet.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Again, Hello again, Hello again. All right.
- 3:07Speaker 4: As always, we got our Adopt Me Please put of
- 3:09Speaker 4: the Week, which is sponsored by Almost Heaven Interiors. The
- 3:11Speaker 4: pictures posted Dave Allen Radio and Facebook at the WCCHS
- 3:15Speaker 4: Network Facebook page and also at Dave a seventy on X.
- 3:19Speaker 2: A beautiful beautiful dog. Angie tell us about Fozzy.
- 3:25Speaker 5: So Fozzy came to KHA after his owner had sadly
- 3:28Speaker 5: passed away and there was no other family members to
- 3:32Speaker 5: take care of Fozzy. He's a big guy. He's about
- 3:35Speaker 5: eighty five pounds. He might be a little bit overweight,
- 3:39Speaker 5: so if you adopt him, that's probably not his ideal weight.
- 3:43Speaker 5: But he's best with calm dogs. He doesn't really like
- 3:46Speaker 5: to play that much. He's excellent with kids. He's housebroken, neutered,
- 3:51Speaker 5: and his adoption fee is zero dollars.
- 3:53Speaker 4: So all he needs is for you to say, yes,
- 3:55Speaker 4: he's a great looking dog.
- 3:57Speaker 2: And what kind of dog is he? Do we know
- 3:58Speaker 2: because it's a little bit of fur, I mean, so
- 4:01Speaker 2: what kind of dog?
- 4:01Speaker 5: Is he, So he is interesting. So his two siblings
- 4:05Speaker 5: that came to ksey Ha with him, they were just
- 4:09Speaker 5: like your typical pity presenting dogs and they looked exactly
- 4:14Speaker 5: like him. Just short here. But this is something interesting
- 4:16Speaker 5: that I did not know. So pity and bully breeds
- 4:20Speaker 5: can have a recessive gene that makes their hair long.
- 4:23Speaker 5: So I did not know that. So I'm learning it
- 4:26Speaker 5: and I am sharing it.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Nor did I you learn something new with Angie Gillenwater
- 4:29Speaker 4: on the not me please pet over the week Sea.
- 4:32Speaker 4: We'll get back to talking about Filezi here and again.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Just a great, great looking dog, and you say he's
- 4:36Speaker 4: got a great personality, good with kids, prefers calmer dogs,
- 4:41Speaker 4: and at his age, you know, I'm not gonna say
- 4:43Speaker 4: he's not gonna play. But his pets, either dog's, cats
- 4:45Speaker 4: or whatever, get older, sometimes they're not as likely to
- 4:48Speaker 4: want to play.
- 4:48Speaker 2: They're kind of over it.
- 4:49Speaker 4: So if you do have other dogs, probably calmer dogs
- 4:53Speaker 4: would be better.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Do we know about cats?
- 4:56Speaker 5: So we don't know for sure about cats. The owner
- 4:59Speaker 5: of Fozzy had cats at one time, but I don't
- 5:02Speaker 5: know if she had them when she had him. I
- 5:05Speaker 5: will say his siblings didn't seem to mind cats, so
- 5:08Speaker 5: it's likely he won't either, But I don't know that perfect.
- 5:10Speaker 4: All right, well we'll do a test run to find
- 5:12Speaker 4: out for sure. You guys out and about anywhere this weekend, Angie?
- 5:17Speaker 5: Yes, So tonight we will be at the Rainbow Pride
- 5:19Speaker 5: drag race and block party from six pm to eight
- 5:22Speaker 5: pm with a doctorble pets.
- 5:24Speaker 2: All right, yeah, what about? So that's tonight?
- 5:26Speaker 4: Do you do anything tomorrow or into Sunday? Are you're
- 5:28Speaker 4: resting up a little bit?
- 5:30Speaker 5: So tomorrow and Sunday we will be taking today off.
- 5:33Speaker 5: We actually have five hundred and thirty one animals in
- 5:35Speaker 5: our care right now, so we need all hands on
- 5:38Speaker 5: deck for that.
- 5:39Speaker 4: That's a lot of animals, Angie. Really is how has
- 5:42Speaker 4: this week been as far as intakes go? I mean,
- 5:44Speaker 4: is that up from last week? Down from last week?
- 5:46Speaker 4: About the same?
- 5:48Speaker 5: It's definitely, I would say it's about the same. We're
- 5:51Speaker 5: in taking roughly and this is an average actually told
- 5:54Speaker 5: this last night about twenty one animals per day.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Wow, And are most of the those ones Angie that
- 6:02Speaker 4: people just drop off or the or the humane officers
- 6:06Speaker 4: pick up or I mean, how does that work?
- 6:09Speaker 6: So?
- 6:09Speaker 5: Here recently, this week especially, it's been a lot of
- 6:12Speaker 5: Humane officer drop offs, whether they have been abandoned or
- 6:16Speaker 5: part of cruelty cases or whatever the situation is. The
- 6:19Speaker 5: majority of the ones this week have been Humane officer
- 6:22Speaker 5: drop offs.
- 6:24Speaker 3: And my favorite, you can come and adopt a buddy
- 6:27Speaker 3: for the day, right.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Yes, absolutely, and Fozzy he has been adopted as you know,
- 6:34Speaker 5: a temporary foster so many times. You love day trips
- 6:38Speaker 5: and rides excellent in the car. But yeah, you can
- 6:41Speaker 5: show up to the shelter pick out a dog. We will,
- 6:44Speaker 5: you know, get you set up with supplies and you
- 6:46Speaker 5: can take them for just today. You guys can go
- 6:48Speaker 5: get pup cups. You can take them to your house
- 6:50Speaker 5: if you'd like. But yeah, if you just come in
- 6:53Speaker 5: and tell us you want to do that and we'll
- 6:55Speaker 5: guide you through the rest of it.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I love that, I mean yeah, and it's because Angie,
- 7:00Speaker 4: we talk about it every week. It's like people that
- 7:02Speaker 4: love animals and they want to be able to help out.
- 7:04Speaker 4: But sometimes people are in an apartment type setting, maybe
- 7:07Speaker 4: they've got an.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Animal already at home that doesn't like.
- 7:13Speaker 4: Fellow animals, you know, something like that, And there's so
- 7:16Speaker 4: many different ways that you can help out that don't
- 7:18Speaker 4: involve adoption. It could be fostering, it could be obviously
- 7:22Speaker 4: monetary donations and donations of materials. But also something else
- 7:27Speaker 4: that we don't talk enough about I think is actually
- 7:29Speaker 4: coming to the shelter and volunteering to do things there.
- 7:33Speaker 4: What are some of the volunteer activities at the shelter.
- 7:38Speaker 5: So at the shelter, when I tell you, if you
- 7:40Speaker 5: name something that you think can be done, we probably
- 7:43Speaker 5: need help doing that. So there's your obvious taking care
- 7:46Speaker 5: of the animals and getting down and dirty. If you
- 7:50Speaker 5: don't want to get you two hands on with the
- 7:52Speaker 5: animals or get too dirty for the day, there's always
- 7:55Speaker 5: you know, dog walking on the property. We also have
- 7:59Speaker 5: opportunities where you can make treats for the dogs if
- 8:01Speaker 5: you want to, you can pass them out we have.
- 8:05Speaker 5: You can volunteer with our adoption staff and greet people
- 8:08Speaker 5: as they come into the lobby. You know, get to
- 8:11Speaker 5: see the magical moment when someone says yes to an option.
- 8:14Speaker 5: You get to like prep them a little goodie back
- 8:16Speaker 5: to go home. So there are I mean endless opportunities. Also,
- 8:20Speaker 5: if you are somebody that loves to do laundry and
- 8:22Speaker 5: fold laundry. I promise you we need your help up there.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I do love that. There you go.
- 8:29Speaker 4: I think you just got to volunteer, ANGI through Amy Rain,
- 8:32Speaker 4: I think she's volunteering here.
- 8:34Speaker 5: We will gladly take your laundry help. I promise.
- 8:38Speaker 4: We got a text here says was the humane officer
- 8:41Speaker 4: able to locate both of the dogs as someone dump
- 8:43Speaker 4: behind Venture Lanes.
- 8:46Speaker 5: I think that was a situation that occurred last night
- 8:49Speaker 5: and from what I saw, I'll have to verify this,
- 8:53Speaker 5: but there were two dogs located and they are both
- 8:55Speaker 5: at the shelter right now waiting for our admissions team
- 8:58Speaker 5: to get them back to day to d work all
- 9:00Speaker 5: that good stuff into a kennel.
- 9:02Speaker 4: All right, Well, Angie, Oh, I was going to ask you,
- 9:05Speaker 4: are there any certain supplies that you're in need of
- 9:07Speaker 4: right now? Because sometimes there's always those constant things that
- 9:10Speaker 4: you ask for people to donate, but then there's sometimes Okay, Dave,
- 9:13Speaker 4: we're running low on this this week.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Is there anything in particular?
- 9:16Speaker 5: So the Purina chow, products of dry food, any brand
- 9:20Speaker 5: of wet food, and cat litter are big knees right now,
- 9:24Speaker 5: as well as gloves, just any type of you know,
- 9:28Speaker 5: latex cleaning type, gloves of any size, any brand.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Somebody asked me about this once before. I think it
- 9:35Speaker 4: was a previous text we had to the show. And
- 9:37Speaker 4: I know you guys usually on the weekends. You said
- 9:39Speaker 4: you're going to be at this event tonight, but you
- 9:40Speaker 4: guys are always out and about somewhere. We want to
- 9:44Speaker 4: encourage people to that when you are out at these
- 9:46Speaker 4: events that you know obviously you've got you hopefully you've
- 9:49Speaker 4: got some helpers with you.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 9:51Speaker 4: If people want to donate their items and they don't
- 9:53Speaker 4: have time to go to the shelter or maybe I
- 9:55Speaker 4: know frequently you guys come over to Puttenham County like
- 9:57Speaker 4: where I live. You know you could all ways if
- 10:01Speaker 4: if you hear about it, or if you put a
- 10:03Speaker 4: post on on on your social media pages, people could
- 10:06Speaker 4: always show up and donate items at those events. Just
- 10:10Speaker 4: pull in and say hey, here I've got I've got
- 10:11Speaker 4: some I got some towels, I got some blankets, I
- 10:13Speaker 4: got some uh don dish Washington Tergon or whatever. You
- 10:16Speaker 4: can always accept those at those events.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Yes, absolutely, if we will, like we will come to you.
- 10:22Speaker 5: If it's a problem of getting to ksey h. We
- 10:25Speaker 5: will always pick up items at our you know, events
- 10:28Speaker 5: that we have if you live a little further out
- 10:30Speaker 5: and don't have an event upcoming. We also have volunteers
- 10:33Speaker 5: that transport, which is something I forgot to mention, but
- 10:36Speaker 5: we have transport volunteers that love to drive places and
- 10:39Speaker 5: do things for us. That's a that's.
- 10:42Speaker 2: A really good that's something that you're right.
- 10:44Speaker 4: I'm glad you brought that up that we haven't talked
- 10:46Speaker 4: about in the past because there's a lot of people
- 10:48Speaker 4: that just like driving, especially maybe and I don't want
- 10:51Speaker 4: to stereotype, but I know that there's something like, uh,
- 10:53Speaker 4: maybe it'd be great for maybe some older folks that
- 10:55Speaker 4: are uh don't that don't have a lot to do,
- 10:58Speaker 4: and you know, would would like to volunteer to Hey,
- 11:02Speaker 4: when you take this dog or cat or these dogs
- 11:04Speaker 4: or cats to this shelter, I mean you could do
- 11:05Speaker 4: that as a volunteer, right, you could volunteer to drive
- 11:07Speaker 4: them to a shelter, or volunteer to drive them to anywhere.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Right, Yes, absolutely so. We partner with local correctional facilities.
- 11:16Speaker 5: I know a teacher for us. Give a shout out
- 11:20Speaker 5: to Heather. She drives for us during the summertime, because
- 11:24Speaker 5: you know, she's not too busy during summer as a teacher.
- 11:27Speaker 5: She drives to those correctional facilities to drop dogs or
- 11:30Speaker 5: supplies off. She'll drive to other shelters, She'll drive to events,
- 11:34Speaker 5: you know, to drive literally everywhere for us.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Well, now, how would that work as far as like
- 11:39Speaker 4: insurance or something. Do they have to be a certain
- 11:41Speaker 4: age if they're technically driving, because I guess they would
- 11:43Speaker 4: have to drive their own vehicles, right, So.
- 11:46Speaker 5: There is the driving of their own vehicle. They do
- 11:49Speaker 5: have to have a valid driver's license, et cetera. There's
- 11:52Speaker 5: also if there are multiple animals to be hauling you,
- 11:54Speaker 5: I have to be a trusted volunteer like Heather that
- 11:57Speaker 5: we've worked with a couple of times, and no is
- 11:59Speaker 5: not going to drive off with like one of the
- 12:01Speaker 5: KHA vehicles. But you do have to have a valid
- 12:05Speaker 5: driver's license for that. And that's that's pretty much where
- 12:09Speaker 5: we're at with that, all right.
- 12:10Speaker 4: And Gi Gillen Wakana Charlest new Man Association as always
- 12:13Speaker 4: appreciate you being here.
- 12:14Speaker 2: We'll talk to you next week.
- 12:15Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, have a good weekend, all right.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Our adopt me please. Pet of the week.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Amy is Fozzy, six years old, eighty five pounds, neutered,
- 12:24Speaker 4: does best with calmer dogs, great with kids and his housebroken.
- 12:28Speaker 4: He was brought in when his owner had passed away. U.
- 12:32Speaker 4: And the great thing about it, Amy, he is free
- 12:34Speaker 4: because his adoption has been sponsored.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Oh that's perfect.

- 16:50Speaker 4: Amy Rain is here live on the Levee, presented by
- 16:52Speaker 4: Moses Auto Groups night at Handad Riverfront Park in Charleston.
- 16:55Speaker 4: As I said, Jim Strawn will be there tonight, but
- 16:58Speaker 4: he's on assignment this morning. Other words, he's on a
- 17:01Speaker 4: plane coming back to Charleston, unable to join us in
- 17:03Speaker 4: the JERI Construction studios. But in his place is the
- 17:07Speaker 4: ever talented, the lovely, the talented Amy Rain.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Good morning, Amy, Well, good morning, how are you. I'm
- 17:13Speaker 2: doing fine, all right? So who we got tonight.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Well, it looks like some amazing bands. I check them
- 17:19Speaker 3: out on YouTube and really loving them both, especially loving
- 17:24Speaker 3: the the Jocelyn and the Sweet excuse me, the Sweet
- 17:28Speaker 3: Compression that will be the opening band at six point thirty,
- 17:33Speaker 3: and she kind of has like the whole band has
- 17:36Speaker 3: like this cake funk sound to it. If you're a
- 17:39Speaker 3: Cake fan.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Now, by the way, for older folks, that's Cake the group,
- 17:43Speaker 4: not Cake the food, right, just so people people know
- 17:46Speaker 4: that's and that's how I know I'm getting old because
- 17:48Speaker 4: Cake the Group has been around for like thirty years
- 17:50Speaker 4: or more now, and so, oh jeez, yeah, they've been
- 17:54Speaker 4: around a long time.
- 17:55Speaker 2: But there there.
- 17:56Speaker 4: I guess they're one of those bands Cake was. They're
- 17:58Speaker 4: one of those bands that had their fans are hardcore devoted.
- 18:02Speaker 4: I had a buddy of mine that was all about it.
- 18:04Speaker 4: But then some other people are like, I don't know
- 18:06Speaker 4: so much. But do you say I haven't had a
- 18:07Speaker 4: chance to listen to groupsnight you say that Jocelyn and
- 18:10Speaker 4: the Sweet Compression as the opening act for Fantastic, Oh?
- 18:13Speaker 3: Absolutely. So they hit the stage at six thirty, and
- 18:17Speaker 3: then Low Cut Connie hits the stage at eight o'clock excellent,
- 18:21Speaker 3: excellent rock. He is from Philly or the band I
- 18:26Speaker 3: guess is from Philly, and NPR described them as masterly
- 18:32Speaker 3: fluent in the foundational languages of Western pop.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Nice. That's a good that's a good description.
- 18:37Speaker 3: He's friends with Elton John. Elton John has him on
- 18:40Speaker 3: his playlist.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Okay, they can't get better than that, I know.
- 18:44Speaker 3: So cool. Yeah, So weather, it's going to be fantastic
- 18:49Speaker 3: once again, amazing weather for tonight. Like you said, hydrate
- 18:52Speaker 3: because it's going to be warm, so so be warm when.
- 18:54Speaker 4: It starts at six thirty. But by the time the
- 18:56Speaker 4: sun starts to set over the Kanal River, it's amy.
- 18:58Speaker 4: It's actually going to be pretty pretty according to what
- 19:00Speaker 4: meteorologies Brian Hughes tells us.
- 19:02Speaker 3: So, oh yeah, yeah, it might be a little chilly
- 19:04Speaker 3: for me.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Okay, it's going to be a great, great night.
- 19:08Speaker 4: And of course they do a fifty to fifty drawing
- 19:11Speaker 4: each week to help out local charities and they got
- 19:14Speaker 4: over the well we got time. Over the years they've
- 19:17Speaker 4: helped out and they've given hundreds of thousands of dollars
- 19:19Speaker 4: to organizations all throughout the Canal Valley. But they are
- 19:22Speaker 4: doing the fifty to fifty tonight, Amy.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Yes, there it is right there, fifty to fifty raffle
- 19:27Speaker 3: drawing nine thirty or about nine thirty. Previous twenty one
- 19:30Speaker 3: seasons plus this year have raised over one hundred and
- 19:33Speaker 3: thirty thousand dollars for these charities.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that is so awesome. The sponsors should I bring
- 19:37Speaker 3: those out? Okay, I'm having the Morning Voice this morning, which.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Is which is well, I guess it happens.
- 19:45Speaker 4: It's gonna say it's not good for somebody who was
- 19:48Speaker 4: a voiceover artist.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Do you have a lot of work on the schedule today?
- 19:50Speaker 11: I do.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Actually, you'll get through it.
- 19:52Speaker 12: I will.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Yes, this is my warm up.
- 19:54Speaker 2: So okay, sorry for the warm up.
- 19:55Speaker 3: A talk about spot Okay, So, first charities our CCRK
- 20:00Speaker 3: see Sojourners, Shelter in Manamil and Covenant House and the
- 20:03Speaker 3: major sponsors Brewer and Company, tear it On Corp, Kennel Stone,
- 20:07Speaker 3: Lou Wendel, Marine, the Health Plan, loved Ones, Poka, Bellley,
- 20:10Speaker 3: Optimum Cable Services, Jim Strawn and Company, and of course
- 20:14Speaker 3: w RVC Media and Talk Radio five eighty.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and that would be us.
- 20:18Speaker 4: And of course there's a you know, the thing about
- 20:21Speaker 4: the Live on the Levee series is it's gone back
- 20:23Speaker 4: and forth over the years as far as how they
- 20:25Speaker 4: do it. You know, they they and it's I want
- 20:27Speaker 4: to say, it's a work in progress. It's working in progress.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Has been going on for you know a number of years.
- 20:31Speaker 4: But sometimes they some summers they've done it every week
- 20:34Speaker 4: and some summers they you know, have done it just
- 20:36Speaker 4: you know, on certain fridays in the month and whatever.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I think, for my money, this seems to be the
- 20:41Speaker 4: most popular way to doing it because people can count
- 20:44Speaker 4: on now, they'll they'll tell you a break during regatta,
- 20:46Speaker 4: of course, but I'm but I mean, and that seems
- 20:47Speaker 4: to be the more popular way to do it.
- 20:50Speaker 3: To it every like, yes, it's Friday.
- 20:52Speaker 4: It's a it's a good way to put that exclamation
- 20:54Speaker 4: point on the week too, and especially when the weather
- 20:57Speaker 4: is as good as what it was last week. I
- 20:59Speaker 4: think it was picked sure perfect last week. And of
- 21:01Speaker 4: course last week we had festival going on too and
- 21:04Speaker 4: the Live on the Leavy was part of that, so
- 21:06Speaker 4: there were just a vibe in downtown Charleston. Man, there
- 21:08Speaker 4: were just so many people taking down Live on the
- 21:10Speaker 4: Levee and festival and so on and so forth, and
- 21:13Speaker 4: tonight it is going to be hot. We're gonna be
- 21:16Speaker 4: around ninety you know by the time, probably upper eighties
- 21:19Speaker 4: and so by the time the show starts. But that's
- 21:21Speaker 4: why you got plenty of vendors there. And if you
- 21:25Speaker 4: want if you want an alcoholic drink, if you want
- 21:27Speaker 4: non alcoholic drink, you've got all that there. And I
- 21:30Speaker 4: was looking at the list Amy of vendors. If you
- 21:33Speaker 4: want ice cream, you got it. You want hot dogs,
- 21:36Speaker 4: you got it. You want tacos, cattle, corn, ice treats.
- 21:39Speaker 4: It is all there. And if you want to see
- 21:40Speaker 4: a complete list of all of the vendors, you can
- 21:43Speaker 4: go to the Live on the Levee facebook page.
- 21:46Speaker 3: That's perfect. And he has season twenty two on here.
- 21:49Speaker 3: So it's been going for me too. Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Yeah, So Jocelyn and the Sweet Compression, Low Cut Connie,
- 21:58Speaker 3: some funk and then some rock.
- 22:00Speaker 4: And you know, yesterday Amy, we had on the show
- 22:02Speaker 4: Tim Brady from the Charleston Convention Visitors Bureau, And I
- 22:05Speaker 4: mean we are I don't know in Charleston that there's
- 22:08Speaker 4: never a non busy season, okay, but we're really getting
- 22:11Speaker 4: into it right now. You know, we didn't foone with
- 22:13Speaker 4: the dome a couple of weeks ago with Charleston Urban Works,
- 22:15Speaker 4: which was absolutely fantastic. So we got that taken care of,
- 22:19Speaker 4: and then we've got the USA Pro Road National Championship
- 22:22Speaker 4: Bikes events.
- 22:23Speaker 3: So excited to see that this year.
- 22:25Speaker 4: It's coming back here in a couple of weeks. Brady
- 22:27Speaker 4: was on the show yesterday. They're still looking for volunteers
- 22:30Speaker 4: for that. That's going to be a major, major deal
- 22:33Speaker 4: which is going to then lead us into Regatta. And
- 22:36Speaker 4: there's some killer acts there. Melissa Etheridge playing this year, Winona,
- 22:40Speaker 4: Bobby Brown, you know, just so Brett Michaels. There's just
- 22:44Speaker 4: so many people that are going to be a part
- 22:46Speaker 4: of that. And so this city is about to burst
- 22:48Speaker 4: at the seams here over the next couple of weeks.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Always something going on, Always so excited.
- 22:56Speaker 4: So Live on the Levee is happening tonight, starts of
- 22:58Speaker 4: six thirty. Well else you got it to from mister
- 23:00Speaker 4: Seawan and your notes over there.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Oh let's see. Well, there's a whole bunch of bunch
- 23:04Speaker 3: of stuff I could tell you about all the band members.
- 23:07Speaker 3: I do like mentioning all of the band members being
- 23:10Speaker 3: a band nerd myself, because you know, the lead singer
- 23:14Speaker 3: is awesome, but you know the band brings it all together.
- 23:17Speaker 3: So we've got Carter Schofield on guitar, and I'm not
- 23:20Speaker 3: going to pronounce his name, right, I know, I'm not
- 23:22Speaker 3: Tyler Poppier Neck.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Okay, Poppier Neac Okay Tyler. If you're listening and that's incorrect,
- 23:28Speaker 4: we'll correct it next week.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Yes, sorry, Rashaun Fleming on drums and Jacob O'Donnell on
- 23:34Speaker 3: saxophone and keyboard. Now, he didn't put the band members
- 23:39Speaker 3: for Low Cut Connie on here.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Just maybe it's just Low Cut Connie.
- 23:42Speaker 3: It could be it could be Adam Wiener or Adam Weiner.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Okay, we were talking about that off the air. Now.
- 23:50Speaker 4: At one time that was a pretty popular surname where
- 23:52Speaker 4: I'm from in Logan County and it was winder down there.
- 23:55Speaker 4: So we can go with either one. But again, if
- 23:56Speaker 4: it's wrong, we'll correct it the next time. They come
- 23:58Speaker 4: back to town. All right, Live on the Levee again.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Moses Auto Group Live on the Levee and they had
- 24:04Speaker 4: at Riverfront Park. Starts at six thirties night with those
- 24:07Speaker 4: fantastic bands that Amy Raine just mentioned, and also all
- 24:11Speaker 4: the vendors are going to be there. There's food of
- 24:13Speaker 4: all kinds. It's not just food. They got like if
- 24:15Speaker 4: you bring the kids out there doing face painting and
- 24:17Speaker 4: things of that nature.
- 24:17Speaker 3: So ke shirt toss.
- 24:19Speaker 4: All kinds of cool stuff happening down there, and it
- 24:21Speaker 4: all starts at six thirty to night. Weather looks like
- 24:23Speaker 4: it's gonna be a little bit warm, So plan on
- 24:25Speaker 4: grabbing you a beverage adult or non adult, whatever it
- 24:28Speaker 4: is that you want, and enjoy some great music tonight,
- 24:31Speaker 4: Amy Rain, I appreciate you subbing for Jim Strawm.
- 24:33Speaker 3: This morning, honor to fill in. Thank you so much.

- 28:51Speaker 11: Good morning man. You had some awesome news I saw recently.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I did, I did.
- 28:56Speaker 11: You've probably talked about in here. All right, by just
- 28:58Speaker 11: congratulations again, that's great, Well.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 29:00Speaker 4: I've had I've had two bits of good news here.
- 29:02Speaker 4: You know, lately, I got the the I don't I
- 29:05Speaker 4: don't want. I don't like to use the term cancer
- 29:07Speaker 4: free because that's kind of a jinx to me, but
- 29:11Speaker 4: it's it's been stopped, so let's all.
- 29:13Speaker 2: I'll put it that way. So yeah, I got that
- 29:15Speaker 2: the other day.
- 29:16Speaker 4: And I've got the news a couple of weeks ago
- 29:18Speaker 4: that I'm going to be inducted into the West Virginian
- 29:20Speaker 4: Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
- 29:21Speaker 2: I saw that as well.
- 29:22Speaker 11: But both of those are great, and none of you,
- 29:24Speaker 11: You're immortalized.
- 29:25Speaker 4: None of that would be possible without if I did
- 29:27Speaker 4: not have the support of Deligate jb Acres.
- 29:29Speaker 11: That's right, man, I'm here for you.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Nothing else, my security guard. Okay, all right.
- 29:33Speaker 4: You wanted to talk about data centers a little bit,
- 29:37Speaker 4: and we've done a lot of that this week on
- 29:39Speaker 4: the show, and we've presented both sides. As a gentleman
- 29:41Speaker 4: on a couple of days ago from a group called
- 29:43Speaker 4: Putnam United.
- 29:44Speaker 2: They are strongly against data centers.
- 29:46Speaker 4: I had Morgan Tending from the Putnam County Development Authority
- 29:49Speaker 4: on the show yesterday. She was also on the Midday
- 29:51Speaker 4: show as well, just where are you on data centers?
- 29:57Speaker 4: And because it seems to me that, just like with
- 30:00Speaker 4: anything else, whether you're for it or again, it it
- 30:03Speaker 4: seems like there's always a lot of misinformation out there.
- 30:05Speaker 11: Yeah, this is one we've talked about a little bit before,
- 30:08Speaker 11: and you really need a long form podcast to really
- 30:10Speaker 11: dive into this when it's hard to get this in
- 30:12Speaker 11: ten fifteen minutes because it's a you know, it can
- 30:14Speaker 11: be a complicated issue. And also just quickly say like
- 30:17Speaker 11: this is not the only thing that we're focusing on
- 30:19Speaker 11: the legislature obviously. A couple of days ago, I was
- 30:22Speaker 11: at a home in Cable County that provides residential services
- 30:26Speaker 11: in home services or residential care for kids who are
- 30:29Speaker 11: an abuse and neglect system. Just going to spend off
- 30:33Speaker 11: just for thirty seconds on that and just say there
- 30:35Speaker 11: are lots of important things we got to deal with
- 30:37Speaker 11: and this abuse and neglect challenge we have with these
- 30:39Speaker 11: these kids who just want to be loved and taken
- 30:42Speaker 11: care of and have someone who like you know, they
- 30:45Speaker 11: know that they're there for them. That is that home
- 30:48Speaker 11: we went to a couple of days ago. Was a
- 30:49Speaker 11: really good experience, very sad, but also there's a lot
- 30:51Speaker 11: of positive it came out of it because the environment
- 30:53Speaker 11: was just a really nice, really nice environment for those kids. So,
- 30:57Speaker 11: you know, we could talk about lots of different issues
- 30:59Speaker 11: and there's lots of things that are priority. So it's
- 31:00Speaker 11: not just data centers, but data centers are important.
- 31:03Speaker 12: Uh.
- 31:03Speaker 11: And I'll say that when it comes to data center discussion,
- 31:06Speaker 11: I think you may have some people on the fringes
- 31:08Speaker 11: on each side of that issue. Like you do almost
- 31:10Speaker 11: any issue, whether you're talking about you know, guns or
- 31:14Speaker 11: roads or whatever the political issue may be, there can
- 31:16Speaker 11: be you know, people on the on the end of
- 31:18Speaker 11: this of the spectrumer line. You will have some people
- 31:20Speaker 11: who are saying they're completely against them, some other folks
- 31:24Speaker 11: who may you be like kind of like, well, let's
- 31:26Speaker 11: just let them, you know, do whatever they want. We
- 31:28Speaker 11: trust them to, you know, you know, follow their own path.
- 31:31Speaker 11: Most of us are going to be somewhere in the
- 31:32Speaker 11: middle and say hey, we're for them. We may have questions,
- 31:36Speaker 11: but may be skeptical even, but we got to make
- 31:38Speaker 11: sure that they're built the right way. So I fall
- 31:41Speaker 11: in that group, which is I think where most people are,
- 31:43Speaker 11: and that is if they provide a benefit to our
- 31:46Speaker 11: local communities and to the state, that I'm absolutely for them.
- 31:49Speaker 11: But they've got to be built responsibly, uh, And we
- 31:52Speaker 11: have to know that they are going to come in
- 31:53Speaker 11: here and be good partners and good neighbors. So as
- 31:55Speaker 11: long as that's the case, and as long as they
- 31:57Speaker 11: provide benefits and they're they're u and it's responsibly, then yes,
- 32:01Speaker 11: I am for them totally.
- 32:03Speaker 15: And the thing that I think people need to realize
- 32:07Speaker 15: too is that when you throw out that blanket term
- 32:10Speaker 15: data center, there are how many different types of data centers.
- 32:13Speaker 4: And by the way, they're not new. First one was built,
- 32:16Speaker 4: I believe one of my listeners text me and said,
- 32:19Speaker 4: nineteen forty five when the first data center was built.
- 32:21Speaker 11: Yeah, obviously that you know the ones in the forties
- 32:23Speaker 11: or can be difference in some of the words now,
- 32:25Speaker 11: but yes, they are not new. And this is something
- 32:27Speaker 11: I heard again. I don't like the empty chair people,
- 32:30Speaker 11: but you did have a guy in here, a couple
- 32:31Speaker 11: of days ago you mentioned and one of the comments
- 32:34Speaker 11: he made. I was a little bothered by Frankly a
- 32:37Speaker 11: lot of what he said, and some of it was
- 32:39Speaker 11: just objectively wrong in information. But one of the things
- 32:41Speaker 11: he said was, you know, the legislature just came in
- 32:44Speaker 11: and voted on a bill without understand what it was.
- 32:46Speaker 11: That's just not true. I mean, I can speak for
- 32:49Speaker 11: myself personally, I can't speak for everyone else. I knew
- 32:52Speaker 11: what I was voting on. I did a lot of
- 32:53Speaker 11: work on it. You know, there's no perfect bill, but
- 32:56Speaker 11: I thought it was a good bill once we got
- 32:58Speaker 11: it through and it was passed both chambers and signed
- 33:01Speaker 11: by the governor. And doesn't mean that maybe we can't
- 33:03Speaker 11: go back and make it better. But I knew what
- 33:06Speaker 11: I was voting for. And one of the things I
- 33:07Speaker 11: looked at was what you said as data centers are
- 33:09Speaker 11: not new. They've been around now for eighty plus years.
- 33:12Speaker 11: And you know there there's a handful in West Virginia.
- 33:15Speaker 11: I've probably said this in your show before. There's one
- 33:18Speaker 11: in South Charleston that's been there for around twenty years.
- 33:20Speaker 2: And if you drive, I say, many people driven. I
- 33:22Speaker 2: don't even know what we.
- 33:23Speaker 11: Don't know what it is. It makes It makes no
- 33:25Speaker 11: more noise than any other commercial building that's out there.
- 33:28Speaker 11: You would not know it's a data center unless I
- 33:30Speaker 11: pointed to it and told you that's what it was.
- 33:32Speaker 11: Now again, some of the hyperscaler plans we're seeing now,
- 33:35Speaker 11: these really large ones, you know, those are are different,
- 33:38Speaker 11: and you know, we do have to, I think, be
- 33:39Speaker 11: careful and say, look, if we're going to build something
- 33:41Speaker 11: of that size and scope, you know, we do have
- 33:44Speaker 11: to make sure that all the rules and regulations get followed.
- 33:46Speaker 11: But that's another piece of misinformation. Is and the guy
- 33:49Speaker 11: you had on here to today, among others, said that
- 33:52Speaker 11: this house built twenty fourteen, which has become maybe you
- 33:54Speaker 11: would call it infamous to some extent with people have
- 33:57Speaker 11: said that that bill makes it so that these data
- 33:59Speaker 11: centers aren't regular. That's one hundred percent not true. As
- 34:02Speaker 11: a matter of fact, without twenty fourteen, there are no
- 34:06Speaker 11: and would have been no regulations specific to data centers.
- 34:09Speaker 11: They would have been treated like any other commercial or manufacturing,
- 34:12Speaker 11: you know, facility in the state. So twenty fourteen actually
- 34:15Speaker 11: does have rules and regulations that wouldn't have existed otherwise.
- 34:17Speaker 11: And one of the most important ones is that any
- 34:20Speaker 11: cost for utitally align upgrades, you know, transmissioner and distribution
- 34:24Speaker 11: network upgrades for electrical use, they may have those, by
- 34:28Speaker 11: law under twenty fourteen cannot be passed on to rate
- 34:32Speaker 11: payers in the state of West Virginia. That has to
- 34:33Speaker 11: be paid for only by the end user who builds
- 34:36Speaker 11: up facility. That's a protection that wouldn't otherwise exist in law.
- 34:39Speaker 11: So that's something I think some people have come out
- 34:42Speaker 11: and said that, you know, twenty fourteen is going to
- 34:44Speaker 11: create some of these risks that frankly it protects against.
- 34:47Speaker 11: So you know those protections are built.
- 34:49Speaker 2: In delgod jb Acres is here.

- 35:05Speaker 4: Corp dot net helping you understand your environment because what
- 35:07Speaker 4: you don't know can't hurt you. Tech says, I understand
- 35:10Speaker 4: the need for data centers if we keep using and
- 35:12Speaker 4: advancing computer technology. However, the government needs to protect resources,
- 35:16Speaker 4: especially water, and prioritize the availability and quality of water
- 35:20Speaker 4: for people citizens over corporate citizens.
- 35:23Speaker 11: I couldn't agree more. I mean, that's one of the
- 35:24Speaker 11: things we have to make sure is that if a
- 35:27Speaker 11: data center is going to come in and use water resources,
- 35:29Speaker 11: you know, you don't want to put one where the
- 35:31Speaker 11: water resources are sparse. And if you have you know,
- 35:33Speaker 11: farmers or just other residential folks and you're you're going
- 35:36Speaker 11: to draw a bunch of water from their water table,
- 35:38Speaker 11: you've got to protect against that. Now, if you're going
- 35:40Speaker 11: to have one, let meet before I move on. But
- 35:44Speaker 11: what we see also though, is with the progression of
- 35:47Speaker 11: these data centers. You probably have talked about how a
- 35:49Speaker 11: lot of them now are moving to a closed loop system,
- 35:51Speaker 11: which means they're recycling their water. So a lot of
- 35:54Speaker 11: the data centers now and I think most, if not all,
- 35:56Speaker 11: the ones going forward, are going to use these closed
- 35:58Speaker 11: loop systems, which means they're not drawn in large amounts
- 36:01Speaker 11: of water, potentially on a daily basis. And these companies
- 36:04Speaker 11: know they can't keep doing that and the water resources
- 36:06Speaker 11: may not be out there. So that's one thing I
- 36:08Speaker 11: think that will provide protection. But also when you look
- 36:11Speaker 11: at one like the that's going to potentially be in
- 36:13Speaker 11: Putnam County. We saw the news or released on that
- 36:15Speaker 11: one the other day, the Google's plans that'll be next
- 36:18Speaker 11: to the Kanaal River. I'm highly confident that that is
- 36:22Speaker 11: going to wind up being a closed loop system that
- 36:23Speaker 11: will probably recycle water. But if it draws water from
- 36:26Speaker 11: the Kanal River, there will not be any noticeable impact
- 36:30Speaker 11: on local water at all. And this is an example
- 36:32Speaker 11: I've given folks. Even if it was one of the
- 36:34Speaker 11: older traditional data centers that we've heard some of them
- 36:37Speaker 11: may use up to five million gallons of water a day,
- 36:40Speaker 11: you don't want that to be out somewhere where there's
- 36:42Speaker 11: not you know, adequate water supplies. But the Kannal River
- 36:45Speaker 11: has ten billion gallons of water flow per day, I
- 36:48Speaker 11: believe is the number. So even if you had, you know,
- 36:52Speaker 11: a data center that used you know, five million gallons
- 36:54Speaker 11: a day, that's not going to be an impact on
- 36:56Speaker 11: the community that the one, the one in Putnam. I
- 36:57Speaker 11: don't think we'll do that anyway, but those are things
- 37:00Speaker 11: we have to look at so your texture is correct.
- 37:02Speaker 11: We got to make sure if they are going to
- 37:03Speaker 11: use water resources, it has to be in a place
- 37:05Speaker 11: where the water resources won't be negatively impacted for the
- 37:07Speaker 11: rest of the community.
- 37:08Speaker 4: I completely agree, and I think one of the issues
- 37:11Speaker 4: that we've had, and I've talked to of people on
- 37:13Speaker 4: Delegate Acres on both sides of the isle on this
- 37:16Speaker 4: not the aisle, but both sides of the argument, I
- 37:18Speaker 4: guess I should say, is that this particular area in
- 37:20Speaker 4: Putnam County, Buffalo, there are people that have property around
- 37:24Speaker 4: it that are very concerned about it. Simply and as
- 37:26Speaker 4: you can completely understand that they would have or that
- 37:28Speaker 4: they would have concerns, especially when you talk about property
- 37:30Speaker 4: that's been in your family for a number of years.
- 37:34Speaker 4: It seems to me as a total novice. It is
- 37:37Speaker 4: in reading and looking at the site that and doing
- 37:41Speaker 4: some independent research, but also looking at the information that
- 37:44Speaker 4: they put. One of the arguments against this particular project
- 37:46Speaker 4: Delegate was that it wasn't transparent.
- 37:49Speaker 2: There wasn't enough.
- 37:50Speaker 4: If you go back and look at that website that
- 37:52Speaker 4: they launched, I don't know how you can get any
- 37:54Speaker 4: more transparent than what that is.
- 37:56Speaker 11: Yeah, I wasn't personally involved at all in the in
- 37:59Speaker 11: the acquisition of that project. I mean I learned about
- 38:01Speaker 11: it sort of when the rest of the public did,
- 38:03Speaker 11: but I think Putnham County officials probably knew earlier than the.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Rest of us did.
- 38:07Speaker 11: But transparency is important, though. People have to know what's
- 38:11Speaker 11: coming in. And I will say there is definitely a
- 38:13Speaker 11: tension here with regard to whoever sold that property in
- 38:17Speaker 11: Putnam County, whoever owned it. I mean, it's private property.
- 38:19Speaker 11: They have a right as long as they check all
- 38:21Speaker 11: the other boxes, to do with it what they wish.
- 38:23Speaker 11: They're definitely I can understand if there's folks who live
- 38:25Speaker 11: around it who like the rural nature of their community.
- 38:28Speaker 11: I understand some of them saying, hey, look, we may
- 38:30Speaker 11: not want a big, commercial looking building out here close
- 38:33Speaker 11: to our home. We like it the way it is.
- 38:35Speaker 11: I would also say, though, part of that tension is
- 38:38Speaker 11: we have increasing costs across the board for fire and
- 38:40Speaker 11: ems services. We all know that local schools are facing
- 38:44Speaker 11: intense pressures to stay open. We know that our roads
- 38:47Speaker 11: need to be fixed. I mean I hear about roads
- 38:49Speaker 11: as much as I do anything else. And there have
- 38:51Speaker 11: to be the use and neglect system I talked about
- 38:53Speaker 11: day There just was a significant court ruling in a
- 38:55Speaker 11: day or two ago where the state potentially faces liability
- 38:58Speaker 11: in that as well, so more liability than we have.
- 39:01Speaker 11: We have to have ways to pay for that. And
- 39:03Speaker 11: that doesn't mean it all cost. I mean, again, this
- 39:04Speaker 11: has to be done responsibly. But these data centers, and
- 39:07Speaker 11: I've heard some people criticize and say, well, the counties
- 39:09Speaker 11: won't get that much money. That's not true. If you
- 39:12Speaker 11: have a one gigawatt data center, which I think the
- 39:15Speaker 11: one of Putnam is probably going to be at least
- 39:16Speaker 11: that big from what I've heard, then you're probably talking
- 39:19Speaker 11: about the estimates are at least thirty million dollars in
- 39:22Speaker 11: direct personal property tax revenue for the county. That doesn't
- 39:26Speaker 11: include all the direct wages. If you have one hundred plus,
- 39:29Speaker 11: I think they'll probably be closer to two hundred people
- 39:31Speaker 11: permanent jobs probably working at that. When you're talking about
- 39:34Speaker 11: millions and millions of dollars of wages for the community.
- 39:36Speaker 11: You know, Putnham County's annual budget, I don't know what
- 39:38Speaker 11: it is, but it's probably not thirty million dollars a
- 39:40Speaker 11: year in all counties as close to sixty million. Putnams
- 39:43Speaker 11: might be thirty million, but you're talking about, you know,
- 39:46Speaker 11: in some counties, multiples of what their annual budget is.
- 39:49Speaker 11: So again, it's got to be done the right way.
- 39:51Speaker 11: It's got to protect people's interests. But these are things,
- 39:53Speaker 11: you know, we need economic development of any of whatever
- 39:56Speaker 11: we can get if it's responsible, and this will do things,
- 40:00Speaker 11: help fund our emergency services, help pay for our roads,
- 40:02Speaker 11: help help our schools, and also help keep our younger
- 40:06Speaker 11: people here because these are these are generational jobs. So
- 40:09Speaker 11: again I would just say, got to be done right.
- 40:12Speaker 11: But if they are, they will be beneficial to our community.
- 40:14Speaker 4: What a couple of weeks ago on Metro News Midday,
- 40:16Speaker 4: we had an opportunity to speak with someone from the
- 40:18Speaker 4: Putnam Career and Technical Center and actually he helps out
- 40:22Speaker 4: with things well beyond the Putnam Career and Technical Center,
- 40:24Speaker 4: and he's just kind of, you know, talking about we
- 40:27Speaker 4: have such a struggle to try to keep our younger
- 40:29Speaker 4: people here all the time. And he talked about the
- 40:32Speaker 4: programs that they are already looking at, some they already
- 40:35Speaker 4: have in place that could help with these jobs. Because basically,
- 40:38Speaker 4: in constructing this thing, it's going to be it's gonna
- 40:40Speaker 4: be construction, you know, so there's gonna be, you know,
- 40:43Speaker 4: some things that are basic, but trying to get those
- 40:45Speaker 4: people to get in on the ground floor and to
- 40:47Speaker 4: stay in West Virginia.
- 40:48Speaker 11: That has been one of the most frustrating things I've
- 40:50Speaker 11: heard is again, there will probably be that will not
- 40:52Speaker 11: probably there'll be thousands of temporary construction jobs. And some
- 40:55Speaker 11: people say, well, those will go away and there won't
- 40:56Speaker 11: be that many jobs when it's over, and I'm I
- 40:59Speaker 11: would say to them, if you have one hundred to
- 41:01Speaker 11: two hundred permanent, good paying jobs, and these are good pain,
- 41:05Speaker 11: they're going to wind up with wages and benefits being
- 41:07Speaker 11: six figure jobs. Okay, one hundred to two hundred jobs
- 41:10Speaker 11: is a big deal anywhere in West Virginia. I will
- 41:12Speaker 11: take that any day of the week. So for folks
- 41:14Speaker 11: who are like, well, these don't provide that many jobs,
- 41:16Speaker 11: I think, well, dag one, that is a lot of
- 41:17Speaker 11: good paying jobs. On top of the fact that it
- 41:20Speaker 11: also you have this tension to give them the folks
- 41:21Speaker 11: who may like the more rural aspect of their community.
- 41:24Speaker 11: If you had a thousand jobs that came in, which
- 41:26Speaker 11: would obviously be great, but that puts a lot more
- 41:28Speaker 11: stress on your infrastructure creates a lot more road traffic.
- 41:31Speaker 11: So there's also a balance here where data centers produce
- 41:34Speaker 11: a huge amount of personal property tax revenue, they produce
- 41:37Speaker 11: what I consider it be a very good amount of jobs,
- 41:40Speaker 11: but also at the same time, maybe not so many
- 41:42Speaker 11: that they would overwhelm the rural nature of some of
- 41:44Speaker 11: these community. So I think it's a very good balance here.
- 41:47Speaker 11: We need these young people to stay here. And I
- 41:48Speaker 11: know there's a YouTube video I saw a few days
- 41:51Speaker 11: ago where there was a guy who has a company
- 41:53Speaker 11: near Washington, d C. Where it's called Data Center Alley.
- 41:57Speaker 11: You've probably talked about that before, where there are literally
- 42:00Speaker 11: hundreds of data centers in that part of Virginia and
- 42:03Speaker 11: they produce huge amounts of revenue. He owns a company
- 42:05Speaker 11: that's an electrical contractor and they make components for data centers.
- 42:09Speaker 11: He employs thirty six hundred people at his facility, which
- 42:12Speaker 11: it's not a data center, it's an electrical contracting company.
- 42:16Speaker 11: Those are also spin off jobs and companies that are
- 42:18Speaker 11: produced as a result of these projects, so it's not
- 42:20Speaker 11: just the data center. You know, that guy in close
- 42:23Speaker 11: to DC is a blue collar company owner and he
- 42:27Speaker 11: employs almost four thousand people just making the parts that
- 42:31Speaker 11: have to go into the data centers. We can use
- 42:33Speaker 11: as much of that as possible in West Virginia.
- 42:35Speaker 4: All right, I'm going to close with this as nothing
- 42:37Speaker 4: to do specifically what you're talking about. But this is
- 42:40Speaker 4: a text of the show, and I know you didn't
- 42:41Speaker 4: send it because because I'm watching your hands here the
- 42:45Speaker 4: sheer common sense being spoken here. Have you ever thought
- 42:47Speaker 4: about possibly running for governor one day? Please consider it?
- 42:51Speaker 11: For now, I can't even be the governor of my
- 42:54Speaker 11: house state so anyway, but we have a good person
- 42:57Speaker 11: in charge of the house. I appreciate that texts is
- 42:59Speaker 11: very complimentary. Thank you whoever sent it. I just I'll
- 43:02Speaker 11: tell you this. I love to have conversations with people,
- 43:04Speaker 11: I think, and when you sit down face to face
- 43:05Speaker 11: like this, it is the best way to talk about
- 43:07Speaker 11: these ideas, and we need to do more of it.
- 43:09Speaker 4: All right now, look at Jvacre's always a pleasure. Dave
- 43:11Speaker 4: on the show Man, thanks a lot.
- 43:12Speaker 11: It's great seeing you. Congratulations again, Dave, really happy for you.

- 47:41Speaker 4: What I mean, I know that you had some of
- 47:44Speaker 4: the vendors you mentioned a couple, but that's one of
- 47:46Speaker 4: the cool things about this is that it's you know
- 47:49Speaker 4: that it's an opportunity. You're outdoors for people to get
- 47:51Speaker 4: them walk around, visit some of the some of the
- 47:53Speaker 4: vent people can even bring stuff in.
- 47:55Speaker 18: Oh yeah, well, so we really encourage everyone to bring
- 47:58Speaker 18: your chair, bring up blanket, you bring a cooler. But again,

- 48:31Speaker 18: for them to do too throughout the day, and then
- 48:33Speaker 18: really highlight.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Of the evening that orchestra concert that starts at eight o'clock.
- 48:37Speaker 18: The theme this weekend is SUSA, an American Celebration, so
- 48:40Speaker 18: we're going to be really kicking into all of the
- 48:43Speaker 18: festivities that are about to happen over the next couple
- 48:45Speaker 18: of months. And just enjoy some American music on Sunday
- 48:50Speaker 18: Fantastic and.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Tell the people where they can learn more about you
- 48:53Speaker 4: about the event, this or anything going on with the Symphony.
- 48:55Speaker 18: Always visit Wbsymphony dot org and we have the full

- 49:03Speaker 18: you can always tune into our website and all of
- 49:05Speaker 18: our social medias for everything we've got coming up to
- 49:07Speaker 18: We've had an amazing twenty six to twenty seven schedule
- 49:09Speaker 18: coming out, including Home Alone and concert which we'll be here,
- 49:13Speaker 18: a big, big, big, big screen movie Orchestra playing in December.
- 49:18Speaker 4: So we got a lot of hold on now and
- 49:21Speaker 4: then we'll have you on plenty of times because now
- 49:22Speaker 4: and talk about so you're going to have the motion picture.
- 49:25Speaker 18: Yeah, So this is that we've been I've been on
- 49:27Speaker 18: a couple of times this season. We've been teasing a
- 49:29Speaker 18: few things that we've been really looking forward to, and
- 49:32Speaker 18: this is one of the things that we've been having
- 49:34Speaker 18: people ask for a while. The orchestra has done several
- 49:36Speaker 18: movie concerts where we play the full feature film in
- 49:39Speaker 18: the orchestra plays the score below it the share We're
- 49:42Speaker 18: doing Home Alone in December, right before Christmas. So it's
- 49:45Speaker 18: something that's been asked for forever, forever, forever. We are
- 49:49Speaker 18: finally doing it this year, and that is just one
- 49:52Speaker 18: of the highlights of our many for our twenty six
- 49:54Speaker 18: twenty seven I have.
- 49:55Speaker 2: A suggestion for you.
- 49:56Speaker 4: Could you have the orchestra play while you have the
- 49:59Speaker 4: three Stooges playing in the background.
- 50:00Speaker 3: That's a possibility. We've also talked to day Bugs Bunny oh.
- 50:04Speaker 4: Well before in the show and if I know anything
- 50:06Speaker 4: in all about classical music or operates, because I've learned
- 50:09Speaker 4: about watching Bugs Bunny as a kid exactly well.
- 50:11Speaker 18: And these are such of the amazing ways for us
- 50:15Speaker 18: to take a very high quality quality orchestra excuse me,
- 50:19Speaker 18: and mesh them in with the community and really bring
- 50:21Speaker 18: everybody together.
- 50:22Speaker 3: Sunday is a great way to do that too.
- 50:24Speaker 18: We're gonna have a fantastic orchestra concert as well as
- 50:26Speaker 18: community bands throughout the Kanaw Valley being featured. And look,
- 50:32Speaker 18: it's what we love to do with the orchestra is
- 50:34Speaker 18: to make great music for everybody in the state, whether
- 50:38Speaker 18: that be classical music, some pops music, or music from
- 50:41Speaker 18: the score of Home alone.
- 50:42Speaker 4: I had a text and said, our large umbrellas like
- 50:45Speaker 4: patio size allowed if you bring kids, they.
- 50:48Speaker 18: Are we encourage a shade you can set up your umbrella,
- 50:51Speaker 18: start to get two o'clock throughout the day and really
- 50:54Speaker 18: stay there and enjoy throughout the evening. We encourage people
- 50:56Speaker 18: to pop in and out. So if you had no
- 50:58Speaker 18: community member that's gonna be playing early in the morning
- 51:00Speaker 18: and you want to come back and take a break
- 51:02Speaker 18: from the sun and then come back with the orchestra
- 51:03Speaker 18: event in the evening, we encourage you to do that too. Again,
- 51:06Speaker 18: it's a completely free event. It's a very open event
- 51:09Speaker 18: and we want the community feel welcome. I've at the
- 51:12Speaker 18: a lot of uc. University of Charleston is such an
- 51:14Speaker 18: amazing partner. They've been helping us do this year after
- 51:17Speaker 18: year after year, and we are really excited to host this.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Yeares again too, Marandon McDonald, westt GI Symphony appreciate you
- 51:22Speaker 2: being here.
