- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Italian with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, Luna is here with me. Luna: Hi, everyone. Lucas, I am so ready for a cozy episode. After all that hot chocolate talk last time, I'm thinking about curling up with a good book. Lucas: Oh, I love that. And that's actually perfect because today we're going to learn some phrases about reading in winter. Before we dive in, a quick note: if Fexingo has been helping you make progress with Italian, and you want to keep this show free, you can support us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It really helps, and we appreciate it. Luna: Yeah, we do. Every little bit keeps the mic on and the episodes coming. And now, let's get to those books. Lucas: Okay, so when you're reading a book, you say 'leggo un libro'. That means 'I read a book' or 'I'm reading a book'. Let's break it down: leggo, un libro. Luna: Leggo un libro. Sounds nice. Leggo un libro. Lucas: Now, if the book is interesting, you say 'il libro è interessante'. The book is interesting. Luna: Il libro è interessante. Il libro è interessante. I hope my book is interesting. Lucas: It will be. Let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're at home, it's snowing outside, and you say, 'leggo un libro ogni sera'. That's 'I read a book every evening'. Luna: Oh, leggo un libro ogni sera. That's cozy. But wait, what about when you see a beautiful book? I always want to say something nice. Lucas: That's easy: 'che bel libro'. What a beautiful book. Che bel libro. Luna: Che bel libro. Che bel libro. I'd say that at the bookstore all the time. Lucas: And if you want to express that you'd like to read, you can say 'vorrei leggere'. That means 'I would like to read'. Luna: Vorrei leggere. Vorrei leggere. Right after this, I might say that. Lucas: So let's put it all together. Listen and repeat. Leggo un libro. Luna: Leggo un libro. Lucas: Il libro è interessante. Luna: Il libro è interessante. Lucas: Leggo ogni sera. Luna: Leggo ogni sera. Lucas: Che bel libro. Luna: Che bel libro. Lucas: Vorrei leggere. Luna: Vorrei leggere. Lucas: Perfect. Now, a tiny tip. Remember that 'leggo' is the I form of the verb 'leggere', which means to read. And 'libro' is a masculine noun, so we use 'il'. Luna: So if I say 'leggo il libro', that's also fine, right? Lucas: Exactly. You can say 'leggo il libro' to mean I read the specific book. And 'leggo un libro' is just a book. Both work. Luna: Got it. So, let's imagine I'm at a cozy café, it's cold outside, and I want to read. I'd say, 'vorrei leggere un libro'. That sounds nice. Lucas: It does. And if someone hands you a book that's really boring, you could say 'il libro è noioso'. But we won't get into that today. Luna: Oh, that's a word for another time. For now, I'm going to enjoy a good book and say 'che bel libro'. Lucas: That's the spirit. So today's phrases: 'leggo un libro', 'il libro è interessante', 'leggo ogni sera', 'che bel libro', and 'vorrei leggere'. Practice them, and you'll be ready for any cozy reading moment. Luna: I'm already feeling warmer. Thanks, Lucas. And thanks to all our listeners for joining us. Lucas: See you next time on Learn Italian with Fexingo. Ciao for now.
