• 0:16
  Speaker 1: You ready?
• 0:17
  Speaker 3: Mars, you ready?
• 0:18
Speaker 3: It ain't there yet.
• 0:19
Speaker 3: I'm ready, but it ain't there yet.
• 0:20
Speaker 3: Well, I don't care, here we go.
• 1:04
  Speaker 1: Come on down.
• 1:04
  Speaker 1: Well, I don't care.
• 1:05
Speaker 2: Here we go no-transcript.
• 1:07
Speaker 1: After we got well, it will probably, but we got whipped pretty good around Houston Texas parts on Thursday.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: Yep 100 mile an hour winds in downtown Houston.
• 1:18
Speaker 1: Downtown Houston is a shambles, but we're doing good out here in the southwest side of town at Gulf Coast Auto Shield.
• 1:25
Speaker 1: It's good to see you, my friend.
• 1:27
Speaker 4: Thanks for coming out, guys.
• 1:28
  Speaker 4: I appreciate it a lot.
• 1:29
Speaker 1: Well, it's our pleasure always to be here and you know, actually you know, just to put it all into perspective, you and I have known each other since before all of this.
• 1:41
  Speaker 4: Yeah, 15, 2015,.
• 1:42
  Speaker 4: Maybe yeah.
• 1:44
Speaker 1: Oh, more than that.
• 1:45
Speaker 1: When did you start over there at?
• 1:47
Speaker 1: Uh, maybe it was 14.
• 1:49
Speaker 1: It's 14 because I got a phone call from steve kingsley guy that owned a custom car stereo and says I got a guy over here, yeah I got a guy.
• 1:57
Speaker 1: I got a guy, got a guy and we had him on the show when we were at the radio station yeah and we were talking about washing cars and detailing cars and that sort of thing, and that's when we started dating and we haven't stopped been going steady ever since yeah we have been, and it's been a real pleasure and a real joy.
• 2:16
Speaker 1: So looks like things are as busy as always here at gulf coast.
• 2:20
Speaker 4: Auto shield things are good we're doing a got a couple different things going on this last couple weeks.
• 2:26
Speaker 4: We're doing a couple of color changes on cars, which is not always our favorite thing to do, but have some special clients that want to get.
• 2:35
  Speaker 4: What a pain.
• 2:36
Speaker 1: I can only imagine, because you do the door jams and everything On some cars.
• 2:40
Speaker 4: yes, on that McLaren.
• 2:41
Speaker 1: yes, we're taking doors off and you know, you just pray to God, you don't get a code on the car when you put it all back together and turn the ignition on.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: You've been down that road a time or two.
• 2:54
  Speaker 4: I take it.
• 2:54
Speaker 4: It happens, you know, even on some of these Porsches you take a headlight out, you turn the ignition on and it's going back to the dealership to get codes cleared.
• 3:01
  Speaker 2: Really, oh yeah.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Oh, my God Wow.
• 3:04
  Speaker 4: That's nuts.
• 3:05
Speaker 4: You got to unplug batteries on cars now.
• 3:08
Speaker 1: So let's do a little review of what we have in here.
• 3:11
Speaker 1: I see we got a Cybertruck back there that you've wrapped.
• 3:14
  Speaker 1: We got a.
• 3:15
Speaker 3: Cybertruck back there Is it black.
• 3:18
Speaker 4: No, they're all the stainless steel, brushed stainless steel.
• 3:21
  Speaker 4: Look to them.
• 3:22
Speaker 4: The color on that car is a is going to be, it's going to be a color shifting paint protection film and it will shift from dark blue to like a dark red, depending on which way you look at it, but the thing that's different about this thing is it's actually paint protection film.
• 3:39
  Speaker 4: It's not.
• 3:40
Speaker 4: It's not just a wrap, not just a wrap, so it's thicker.
• 3:42
Speaker 4: You got a 10-year warranty on it.
• 3:44
Speaker 4: It's's a much better product than any kind of color change.
• 3:49
  Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a wet apply.
• 3:50
Speaker 4: It's a wet apply where wrap is typically dry apply.
• 3:53
Speaker 2: Now, is that specific to the Cybertruck or just that product on any?
• 3:57
  Speaker 4: vehicle, the product.
• 3:58
Speaker 4: So yeah, paint protection film is always wet apply Color change wraps are dry with, with the adhesive being activated by heat.
• 4:06
Speaker 4: So yeah, the the real.
• 4:09
Speaker 4: You know the truck is pretty easy to to work on well, it's square, yeah, flat panel the only problem with it is wrapping those edges, because the edge on it is so, so tiny and um can you imagine the stamping plant?
• 4:25
Speaker 1: that's got to be extra, super precise.
• 4:28
Speaker 1: I went to a stamping plant one time.
• 4:30
Speaker 2: The corolla were you there with with me?
• 4:32
  Speaker 2: No, I didn't go.
• 4:33
Speaker 2: Went to the corolla stamping plant.
• 4:34
Speaker 1: I think it was in, uh, mississippi or tennessee, somewhere up there, and it was truly amazing to see how sheet metal of any kind is stamped and that truly those tight edges like that they're sharp too.
• 4:48
Speaker 4: Yeah, you've seen the video where the guy's cutting carrots and cucumbers with the trunk.
• 4:53
  Speaker 1: No really.
• 4:55
Speaker 4: So he's hitting the trunk, the front close button, and it doesn't have any kind of sensor on it to detect when something's in the way.
• 5:01
Speaker 4: So it's literally he's chopping carrots with it, and then some other guy decided well'm gonna put my finger.
• 5:09
Speaker 1: I saw the finger one that's on video.
• 5:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I saw that, are you?
• 5:11
  Speaker 1: kidding me?
• 5:11
  Speaker 1: No, I'm not.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: It almost got him.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, I almost took his finger.
• 5:12
Speaker 1: Well, it hurt him.
• 5:13
Speaker 1: I know it, I know it hurt yeah had to so it's stop, it's um, so it's interesting, for sure, and and and an opposite of that would be the car that's in front of it.
• 5:27
  Speaker 4: That R34.
• 5:28
Speaker 4: And I'm not the Fast and Furious guy, but that's a Fast and Furious car, that's a.
• 5:33
Speaker 2: Fast and Furious car.
• 5:34
Speaker 4: It's right-hand drive and one of my regular clients bought that and I think he imported it and I think he's probably going to sell it, david, and it is.
• 5:42
Speaker 4: I know that car is very, very valuable about 19 000 miles on it from a 1999 car and it's in incredible condition and, um, uh, we did a, we actually made a paint protection film kit for the front of it and um, oh, just getting it cleaned up for him and I think he's going to come by today and and pick it up.
• 6:03
Speaker 4: Uh, not my thing, but I do respect the, I do respect the car and the kind of condition that it's in.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: Well, that, that apparently I've never been in one or driven one, but from everything that I've read and seen, that is one bad to the bone car on the road.
• 6:18
Speaker 1: Well, I don't know for what it is, I won't get in it do you fit in it?
• 6:24
Speaker 4: yeah, I won, I'll fit in it, but I just Nope.
• 6:27
Speaker 4: No, you're good, I got a guy that has a right-hand drive, sylvia, that works here.
• 6:31
Speaker 4: I let him move it.
• 6:32
Speaker 4: Gotcha, I let him.
• 6:34
Speaker 4: He's all over that car.
• 6:36
Speaker 1: He used to be a postman, right Nope.
• 6:39
Speaker 4: A postal delivery guy.
• 6:40
Speaker 4: He every guy it could be now is that a 911 next?
• 6:48
Speaker 1: to the uh cyber truck on the right.
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's a.
• 6:50
  Speaker 1: That's a gt2 rs.
• 6:50
Speaker 1: That's a oh my gosh, really bad, bad boy.
• 6:51
Speaker 1: That's bad to the bone.
• 6:52
Speaker 4: Yeah, yes sir, that's a 2018 2019 gt2 rs and, uh, we did a full paint protection film on that car and um, so it's brand new.
• 7:01
  Speaker 4: No, it's not.
• 7:03
Speaker 4: Well, it's six years old.
• 7:04
Speaker 4: Oh, it is, and that car has got.
• 7:06
Speaker 4: You want to talk about power?
• 7:07
Speaker 4: That car's about 700 something horsepower seriously straight up from the factory.
• 7:11
  Speaker 4: Wow and uh.
• 7:12
Speaker 4: The red one is what's is the really special car that's in here with the whale tail?
• 7:16
Speaker 4: Yes, that is a.
• 7:17
Speaker 4: That is a, I believe, a 2004 gt2, 94 gt2 and, and Porsche made 57 of those, 13 of which were right-hand drive, and the reason why they made that car was so they could make enough to race it.
• 7:33
  Speaker 4: Le Mans.
• 7:34
Speaker 3: Got to hit the minimum yeah.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: Homologation, I think, is what they call that.
• 7:38
Speaker 2: Does it have a European plate on it?
• 7:39
  Speaker 4: It does.
• 7:40
Speaker 4: Yeah, the guy just picked that car up.
• 7:42
Speaker 4: It's got a couple signatures on the license plate and the owner of the car will be coming today to the event.
• 7:48
Speaker 1: Well, he ain't getting it out from that parking spot.
• 7:51
Speaker 4: Well, he's not going to drive it.
• 7:52
Speaker 4: We're working on that car.
• 7:53
  Speaker 1: Oh, I see, I see.
• 7:55
Speaker 2: He's going to take a look.
• 7:56
Speaker 2: That's what we should do.
• 7:56
Speaker 2: We should find a car and all of us at In Wheel Time sign.
• 8:09
  Speaker 3: I know that it's not.
• 8:12
Speaker 1: Just a quick glance Tell me it doesn't look like that A little bit.
• 8:16
Speaker 2: Yeah Well, the shadowing and the deck, whatever.
• 8:21
Speaker 1: Don't talk me out of it.
• 8:22
Speaker 1: That's what I'm going to believe.
• 8:23
  Speaker 1: So it's a McLaren.
• 8:24
  Speaker 1: What?
• 8:26
  Speaker 4: That's a 720S.
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 8:29
  Speaker 4: Is that?
• 8:30
  Speaker 1: anything like a 730S, it's fast.
• 8:33
  Speaker 3: Is it?
• 8:33
Speaker 4: It's fast, is it?
• 8:33
Speaker 4: It's fast and it handles good, and it's one of those cars that I can't afford, so I don't really learn a lot about it.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: And the Mercedes-Benz next to that, the black one, it's a nice little GLE.
• 8:46
  Speaker 4: It's a nice little GLE.
• 8:47
Speaker 4: We're going to do a Stealth Expel wrap on that.
• 8:51
Speaker 4: Make it a satin black for the guy.
• 8:53
Speaker 4: He wants it to be a little bit more masculine looking.
• 8:57
  Speaker 2: It's a brand new car.
• 8:58
Speaker 4: I'm all about masculine.
• 8:59
Speaker 4: It's brand new, brand new.
• 9:01
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, so is that Aston Martin there?
• 9:02
Speaker 1: I was going to say the Aston Martin sitting next to it is very nice.
• 9:05
Speaker 4: How much is that About?
• 9:06
  Speaker 4: $300,000?
• 9:07
  Speaker 4: $350,000, $360,000?
• 9:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, a couple from New.
• 9:10
  Speaker 1: Orleans.
• 9:10
  Speaker 1: Huh, Imagine that.
• 9:11
Speaker 1: Oh look who's just shown up.
• 9:13
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there she is it's the zookeeper.
• 9:16
Speaker 1: Yep, and then we have the Expedition.
• 9:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's my buddy's car from Victoria that he had delivered up here so we could work on.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: And it says on there, get you one.
• 9:29
Speaker 4: Sillsby Ford, sillsby, texas.
• 9:31
Speaker 4: But you may not get the color you want because he ordered a black one and they got him a white one.
• 9:37
Speaker 4: So, but you get you one.
• 9:39
  Speaker 3: Hi, Ms Gray.
• 9:41
  Speaker 1: How are you?
• 9:42
Speaker 1: You look a lot better than John Always I just want you to know, that Always.
• 9:47
Speaker 1: Are you assistant principal or principal Assistant?
• 9:52
Speaker 1: She's the assistant principal at Clements.
• 9:54
Speaker 4: Yes, at Clements, high School man, we could tell some stories about Clements High School.
• 9:57
Speaker 1: Listen, I used to live down the street from Clements High School and I actually moved into that house right after Clements was built Back in the early days.
• 10:08
Speaker 1: Yeah Well, I moved into that house in 93.
• 10:11
Speaker 1: And I love that neighborhood Boy that has beautiful neighborhood trees in it now.
• 10:21
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, anyway, it's good to see you, man, good to see you.
• 10:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, and then we see these cars in here, but you've got just as many out there in the parking lot.
• 10:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, we moved things around this morning so people have room to come inside and just kind of mill about, but not if they get hot.
• 10:40
Speaker 4: So what's going on today is we got to?
• 10:42
Speaker 4: Oh, we invited the Houston chapter of the Lone Star region of the Porsche Club of America to come over.
• 10:47
Speaker 4: This is an appreciation event for these guys.
• 10:50
Speaker 4: They send us a lot of business anytime somebody asks a question on the their forums about you know where to go for something and they just get flooded with with our shop and uh.
• 11:03
Speaker 1: So well, you know, this is all a testament to you, really, because of the work that you do and I'm not trying to blow smoke, well I guess I'm a little bit.
• 11:09
  Speaker 4: It's a people, it's the guys I got working here.
• 11:12
Speaker 4: Well, yeah, talented, yeah, talented guys.
• 11:14
  Speaker 1: And friends.
• 11:15
Speaker 1: You know we like to support your friends and John's a dear friend of mine.
• 11:22
Speaker 1: That called him up.
• 11:24
Speaker 1: I guess it was two months ago, three months ago I said, john, I want a dash cam.
• 11:30
Speaker 1: Do you guys install those?
• 11:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, he says I got one, you want it.
• 11:34
Speaker 1: I said, well, I mean I'll buy it from you.
• 11:37
Speaker 3: No, no, no no, it's okay.
• 11:40
Speaker 1: He takes it out of his car and puts it in mine.
• 11:42
  Speaker 1: Works great.
• 11:44
  Speaker 4: They're good.
• 11:45
  Speaker 4: They are.
• 11:46
Speaker 4: I did one not too long ago for a guy.
• 11:47
Speaker 4: He has a new Raptor R and he wanted one that faced forward, back and then toward the cab inside the cab, yeah, yeah, so you can see himself.
• 11:56
Speaker 4: Well, so I think the job that he does.
• 11:57
Speaker 4: He moves boats around in the port and so somebody has to move his truck around, uh, to meet him.
• 12:02
Speaker 4: So he wanted to make sure that whoever was driving it, uh, wasn't messing around yeah, at least if they were, he'd know who did it got you um, yeah, those are.
• 12:13
Speaker 4: Those are definitely pretty cool.
• 12:14
Speaker 1: Well, dash cams, you've got to have one.
• 12:16
Speaker 1: I'm just going to say these days, you've got to have one.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: Do you have one, jeff?
• 12:19
Speaker 1: No, you have one.
• 12:21
Speaker 1: Mars, nope, not yet.
• 12:22
Speaker 1: You need one in the in-wheel time truck, because I've seen you drive.
• 12:28
Speaker 2: We've all seen you back up.
• 12:29
  Speaker 3: We've all seen, but then there's a record, there's a record.
• 12:34
Speaker 2: You already have a record in three counties.
• 12:38
Speaker 1: Well, but then you have another one, so just to kind of cheat On that dash cam thing.
• 12:42
Speaker 4: Yes, they're now making them with LTE cards, so you can get a SIM card, put it in there and, as long as your battery is at a certain level while the car is parked anywhere, you can dial in on your phone and see what's going on around your car.
• 12:55
  Speaker 4: Oh wow.
• 12:57
Speaker 3: Kind of like a door cam.
• 12:58
Speaker 3: You can remote access the door cam, that is correct.
• 13:03
  Speaker 4: It's pretty interesting.
• 13:04
  Speaker 3: Pretty interesting stuff.
• 13:06
Speaker 1: Have you installed any of those yet?
• 13:07
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh, a bunch of them yeah.
• 13:09
  Speaker 1: Really.
• 13:11
Speaker 4: Yeah, you're paying for it, though You've got to go get a SIM card from whoever your carrier is oh yeah, you've got to have a provider like a cell phone.
• 13:17
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's exactly what it ends up being.
• 13:18
  Speaker 4: That's right.
• 13:23
Speaker 1: Have you installed any CB radios?
• 13:26
Speaker 4: No we have not installed any CB radios, but I saw one in a car not too long ago.
• 13:32
Speaker 1: Was it Grandpa that owned?
• 13:34
  Speaker 4: it.
• 13:34
Speaker 4: It was a guy that was younger than you would think he would have been.
• 13:38
  Speaker 1: Really.
• 13:39
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 13:40
Speaker 4: And he just gets.
• 13:40
Speaker 4: He says I drive a lot of highway and I just get lonely.
• 13:44
Speaker 4: I like to talk to people on the CB.
• 13:47
Speaker 1: Well, it's so funny because you know all the truckers still have CB.
• 13:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, of course.
• 13:51
Speaker 1: And have you ever listened to any of those conversations?
• 13:53
Speaker 1: Of course that's an education, my friend.
• 13:55
  Speaker 1: Yes, it is.
• 14:00
Speaker 3: Well, the thing is, you can talk on those places.
• 14:01
Speaker 3: You can't talk on a cell phone, because the cell tower thing.
• 14:03
Speaker 1: It works on a completely different setup, yeah, and of course you'd bring it to John and you'd put John, I want a 75-watt CB A, a 75-watt CB A booster, yes, sir, which is totally illegal.
• 14:14
Speaker 1: But I will say this have you ever heard one come blasting through?
• 14:18
Speaker 1: Oh my God, it's worse than your radio station transmission.
• 14:23
Speaker 1: It's all distorted and all that sort of thing, all right.
• 14:28
Speaker 1: So what are we going to do today?
• 14:31
Speaker 1: So we're inviting everybody out to join us.
• 14:32
Speaker 1: What are they going to get today?
• 14:33
Speaker 1: So we're inviting everybody out to join us.
• 14:34
Speaker 1: What are they going to get when they get here?
• 14:36
Speaker 4: oh other than your hospitality and your warm personality yep, we get you boys doing your show you got a tent out there yeah, we're going to do.
• 14:45
Speaker 4: Uh, we got some crawfish coming, got a guy that's going to come and cook crawfish from, you know 10, 30 to 12, 30 or one o'clock something like that.
• 14:55
Speaker 1: So you know we're going to do it.
• 14:57
Speaker 1: Bring your game, Bring it on, Come on out.
• 14:58
Speaker 1: So, okay, tell everybody the easiest way to get here.
• 15:02
Speaker 1: When somebody says where are you, what do you tell them?
• 15:05
Speaker 4: I'm on the loop just south of 59.
• 15:06
Speaker 1: You're on the Beltway, not the loop On the Beltway.
• 15:09
Speaker 4: Whatever, it's the loop loop, it is a loop it is a loop, but we it's between west airport and belfort and uh 11 275 south sam houston parkway west okay, you can't miss us.
• 15:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you're on the.
• 15:21
Speaker 1: Uh, you're on the way from 59, like you're gonna go to 288 south of 59 yeah, yep.
• 15:28
Speaker 1: So 59 and the west sam houston parkway, because it doesn't become the tollway until you get on past us, that is true.
• 15:36
Speaker 1: So 59 and the West Sam Houston Parkway.
• 15:38
Speaker 4: Because it doesn't become the tollway until you get on past us.
• 15:40
Speaker 4: That is true Until you hit the toll.
• 15:41
Speaker 4: And you've got to get that address just right when you put it in your map, in your Google map, or it will take you to the wrong part of town If you put the West Sam Houston Parkway south, that's a whole different part of town.
• 15:54
Speaker 1: You know it's so funny because, speaking of that, you know I clearly work out of Hobby Airport and there are people out there that want to get to signature flight support.
• 16:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, and they'll punch in signature flight support and nine times out of ten it'll take them off of Telephone Road back there in the back where the fire department has their stuff out there, their training area.
• 16:18
Speaker 1: It has nothing to do with where the actual signature is.
• 16:22
  Speaker 3: It's so bizarre.
• 16:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, so at any rate.
• 16:25
Speaker 1: So, any questions, anybody, anybody, no, no, just take it a poll.

• 21:48
Speaker 2: They're out of Chicago, chicago, chi-town.
• 21:52
  Speaker 1: Yep.
• 21:53
Speaker 2: City of big shoulders, and also we've got NASCAR going on.
• 21:56
Speaker 2: Nascar is at Wilkesboro Speedway, it is going to be on tomorrow and they've got actually two races.
• 22:04
  Speaker 2: There's an all-star race.
• 22:05
Speaker 2: The first one starts at 6 pm, the second one starts at 8 pm, and then we move on over to the On Sunday night.
• 22:13
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 22:13
  Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all-star.
• 22:14
Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, it's the prelim to the next week, which is Indy and the big shootout and all that stuff, but nevertheless, we've got the F1 guys.
• 22:25
Speaker 2: They are in and I'm going to the Cruzes Emilia, romagana, romagna, romagna.
• 22:33
Speaker 2: I'm reminding you to read it Romagna.
• 22:35
Speaker 2: Okay, well, that's where they're going to be at.
• 22:37
Speaker 2: We're going to save Indy, because Indy's going to be in my Motor Minute and we've got some good stuff in Indy.
• 22:43
Speaker 1: Okay, well, indy's getting ready to happen.
• 22:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was already happening.
• 22:46
Speaker 1: That's what we're going to talk about Okay, all right, very good, all right.
• 22:53
Speaker 1: The the Mike Mars review of the 2024 Ford Maverick Hybrid.
• 23:01
Speaker 1: Now, we're not talking about a four-door sedan from the 1970s here.
• 23:05
  Speaker 3: No, no, no.
• 23:06
Speaker 3: In fact, what they've done is they've repurposed the name Maverick into a small compact truck.
• 23:12
Speaker 3: It's basically a unibody truck, much like some of the others.
• 23:15
Speaker 3: When they get down that small, they're just not putting the frame on.
• 23:18
Speaker 3: This vehicle was actually introduced in 2022.
• 23:22
Speaker 3: The hybrid this is the lariat trim level of the hybrid um, and it is front wheel drive is not a four by four and um.
• 23:30
Speaker 3: It only comes in a four-door crew cab with a 4.5 foot bed bed on it.
• 23:37
Speaker 3: That's the only way you're going to buy this vehicle and it's got.
• 23:41
Speaker 3: The great thing about it is because of the way the windows are.
• 23:44
Speaker 3: You set up kind of high.
• 23:45
Speaker 3: You've got great visibility in it.
• 23:47
Speaker 3: You're going to find LED lighting all the way around with some automatic high beams up front.
• 23:51
Speaker 3: You've got the acoustic windshield.
• 23:53
Speaker 3: It really helps with the road noise.
• 23:55
Speaker 3: Cut down on a lot of that.
• 23:56
Speaker 3: Got heated power side mirrors.
• 24:05
Speaker 3: Got a rear power sliding glass, got cargo box tie downs inside the bed, got a tow package and includes the receiver 7-pin plug.
• 24:08
Speaker 3: So it's a standard receiver with a 7-pin plug on it, so you can basically put anything in.
• 24:13
Speaker 3: We'll get to the tow ratings in a few minutes, but we were rolling on the optional 18-inch aluminum wheels.
• 24:19
Speaker 3: Now inside we had the synthetic leather upholstery.
• 24:23
Speaker 3: Front seats are heated, the rear is a fold-up with storage underneath it.
• 24:26
Speaker 3: Wait a minute, did you say synthetic leather?
• 24:28
Speaker 3: Yes, sir, synthetic leather, upholstery.
• 24:31
Speaker 1: Just wanted to make sure I didn't hear something funky there.
• 24:35
Speaker 3: The rear seat folds up in one piece.
• 24:37
Speaker 3: So if you've got a car seat or groceries or something in there and you want to get underneath, you're going to have to take everything out, that's.
• 24:43
Speaker 3: I thought that was kind of weird that they didn't split that base.
• 24:46
Speaker 3: On that seat you're going to find an eight inch touchscreen up front.
• 24:49
Speaker 3: That's where you're going to get your nav, your rear view camera, all your convenience controls.
• 24:52
Speaker 3: Uh does have a wireless charger.
• 24:55
Speaker 3: It's got got USB ports up front and in the back You're going to have your Ford Sync 3, apple CarPlay, android Auto, so you've got all this technology in there and to go along with a B&O audio system.
• 25:06
Speaker 3: Now, this is eight speakers.
• 25:08
Speaker 3: So this is a pretty simple design.
• 25:10
Speaker 3: Interior, the door panels and all are pretty simple.
• 25:12
  Speaker 1: B&O used to be a railroad, didn't?
• 25:14
  Speaker 3: it.
• 25:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, bno railroad, I always land on it.
• 25:17
Speaker 3: Monopoly no you didn't think it was.
• 25:19
Speaker 1: I think it was 200 or something like that bno railroad yeah, this was a little bit more than that or, um, it could be the uh, the bachman turner overdrive orchestra, that they've shortened the name.
• 25:31
Speaker 1: Anyway, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt one and we get to the drive train.
• 25:35
Speaker 3: Up underneath the hood we had the 2.5 liter inline four.
• 25:38
Speaker 3: That's part of the hybrid connection.
• 25:40
Speaker 3: Now, interesting thing, they did this is the standard engine in the Maverick this year.
• 25:45
Speaker 3: Last year the 2.0 liter turbo was the standard engine with the hybrid optional, but they swapped it.
• 25:52
Speaker 3: Now the hybrid is the standard and the 2.0 liter turbo is standard.
• 25:58
  Speaker 3: I mean it's the option.
• 25:58
Speaker 3: I don't understand why they did the swap and the 2.0 liter turbo is standard.
• 26:00
  Speaker 3: I mean it's the option, I don't.
• 26:00
Speaker 3: I don't understand why they did the swap, but anyway they did.
• 26:03
Speaker 3: It's 191 horsepower equivalent 155 pound feet of torque, backed with a cvt, and we had the front wheel drive.
• 26:09
Speaker 3: Tow rating is 1500 pounds on this vehicle, which doesn't seem like a whole lot.
• 26:14
Speaker 3: But you take a small trailer that's eight or nine hundred pounds, put a 500 pound golf cart it and you can tow it.
• 26:20
Speaker 3: Epa says you should get 43 in the city and 33 out on the highway and I will tell you I averaged 31 across the week that I had it and that included a little bit of towing.
• 26:32
Speaker 2: Oh, we had the option, the opportunity to do that.
• 26:34
Speaker 2: Did you say towing or towing Towing, did you?
• 26:35
Speaker 1: say towing or towing Towing.
• 26:37
Speaker 3: Actually put a trailer behind it.
• 26:38
Speaker 1: You did, I did.
• 26:39
  Speaker 1: Shame on you.
• 26:41
Speaker 3: I've been waiting for an opportunity to do that and I finally had it Was it one of those little lawnmower trailers A little bit bigger than that golf cart trailer.
• 26:49
  Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
• 26:49
Speaker 3: It'll tow a little bit Most people are going to do.
• 26:55
  Speaker 3: Now I will say that it's a very truck-like ride.
• 26:57
Speaker 3: The steering on it's very responsive.
• 27:00
Speaker 3: The base model now Wayford's doing their Monrones here.
• 27:04
Speaker 3: It didn't get a price on that exact vehicle, but the base model for the Maverick XL is $25,410.
• 27:12
Speaker 3: The Lariat base that we were driving is $36,450, and since the hybrid's standard on that now that includes the hybrid the closest things I could find to it would be something like the Hyundai Sonata I mean Santa Cruz that starts at $26,900,.
• 27:24
Speaker 3: Another unibody vehicle, the Honda Ridgeline's a little bit bigger at $39,000.
• 27:29
Speaker 3: But if you're looking for a compact truck, this is definitely one to look at.
• 27:33
Speaker 3: It worked quite well.
• 27:34
Speaker 1: It'd also be a good competitor for the 67 Chevrolet El Camino.
• 27:39
  Speaker 1: That's a unibody.
• 27:41
  Speaker 1: No, it's got a frame.
• 27:42
  Speaker 1: It's got a frame.
• 27:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know they cut the back end off of a Malibu and put a bed back there and there you go.
• 27:49
Speaker 3: There you have it, there you have it Just saying I understand it comes with a V8, too Cool Done, yes, sir.
• 27:59
Speaker 3: All right, that's my review of the 2024 Ford Maverick Lariat front-wheel drive hybrid.
