- 0:21Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome to Bless This Mess and the Drue
- 0:22Speaker 1: Ground Podcast. I'm care here with Stu. Say hey, Stu, Hey,
- 0:25Speaker 1: all right, we're back. So we were off for a
- 0:28Speaker 1: week or two due to the We went on vacation,
- 0:31Speaker 1: We went on to Disney Cruise. We had a good time.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I'm not gonna go on long about this Stuart and Xip. Yeah,
- 0:41Speaker 1: we got a review that said, and Stu made the
- 0:44Speaker 1: mistake of bringing this up right before we were about
- 0:47Speaker 1: to record, and then I got mad at him.
- 0:48Speaker 2: But saying, we're thirty minutes to lay what could already
- 0:52Speaker 2: be halfway through.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yes, I've already quit the podcast three times recording this
- 0:57Speaker 1: because anyways, no, we got a review in this part.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I was like, why don't we care what one person thinks,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you know, if they can't, they can't. Apparently you do
- 1:08Speaker 1: because you brought it up right before we were about
- 1:10Speaker 1: to record.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I'm just saying, we can't have a thirty minute And in.
- 1:14Speaker 1: My defense, the time that we did have, we did
- 1:16Speaker 1: go on a really long time about the dog I
- 1:19Speaker 1: said in the call. I said in the description skipped
- 1:21Speaker 1: the first twelve minutes, So it's on them if they
- 1:23Speaker 1: didn't skip it.
- 1:24Speaker 2: That's that's on them.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Okay, well that's on them though, that's what I'm saying anyways, yees.
- 1:30Speaker 1: So it's in the fine print. Read the fine print. Anyway.
- 1:32Speaker 1: So we went on our cruise. We did have a
- 1:34Speaker 1: good time. I think we all agreed we did prefer
- 1:38Speaker 1: the Royal Caribbean cruise ship more than the Disney controversial,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I know, but I mean the room was much nicer.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I did like that. But other than that, honestly, for
- 1:48Speaker 1: the price you could just get two Royal Caribbean room stuff.
- 1:51Speaker 1: But besides the fact that like Minnie and Mickey Mouse were.
- 1:54Speaker 2: There for Halloween.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, for our children, although there were quite a few
- 1:59Speaker 1: Disney dog but we're not gonna get into it because
- 2:01Speaker 1: maybe we have some Disney adults listening to us, and
- 2:04Speaker 1: we'll just say there was some extreme behavior observed. I
- 2:09Speaker 1: mean like there was a bunch of there was. I
- 2:11Speaker 1: think they said about two thirds of the cruise is
- 2:13Speaker 1: just adults with no children, which is fine, but there
- 2:15Speaker 1: was just like a handful of extremely Fanny fan like
- 2:20Speaker 1: fangirl fan crazy behavior that was a little bit odd.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We'll say.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Yes, the one person that kept getting in line to
- 2:29Speaker 2: take pictures with the character. Yeah. I wanted to be
- 2:31Speaker 2: like immediately get in the.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Line, yes, and then immediately get back in the line.
- 2:34Speaker 1: It was and we started noticing these this group, these
- 2:38Speaker 1: two every single time until we start pointing out, We're like,
- 2:41Speaker 1: oh my god, this They're like really obsessed. And then
- 2:43Speaker 1: I started wondering, do they even know that that's just
- 2:45Speaker 1: like a person that they paid to put on a
- 2:47Speaker 1: mouse out and we don't know.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Why are you ruining this for all the people that
- 2:51Speaker 2: listen to this podcast.
- 2:52Speaker 1: But they had Our children had a good time and
- 2:56Speaker 1: we had a good time. We did come down with
- 2:58Speaker 1: the COVID, so that's why we had not having an
- 3:00Speaker 1: episode out this past week, but it didn't work out
- 3:03Speaker 1: for us because we both me and stew got sick.
- 3:05Speaker 1: The children ended up I think maybe one of them
- 3:08Speaker 1: caught it, but they don't. I like last time we
- 3:10Speaker 1: had COVID, they didn't really get sick. But it took
- 3:12Speaker 1: me in Stew out, so I did. The plane rides
- 3:15Speaker 1: were my biggest stresser. They ended up going really well.
- 3:18Speaker 1: There was just like a few minor times that they cried.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I did cry on the first plane ride because I
- 3:24Speaker 1: was so stressed out. When we got on there, our
- 3:25Speaker 1: two year old he decided to start crying right when
- 3:29Speaker 1: we got on and before we even took off, And
- 3:32Speaker 1: let us just say, it probably lasted maybe five minutes
- 3:34Speaker 1: that he was upset, but it felt like it lasted.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Seventy two hours.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And so then I start there's no children on this
- 3:42Speaker 1: plane too. That's what threw me off too. I was like,
- 3:44Speaker 1: oh my god, there's no other kids on this plane,
- 3:46Speaker 1: like what are we doing? It was the small flight
- 3:48Speaker 1: from Midland to Dallas. And so then the flight attendant
- 3:52Speaker 1: saw how stressed I was, and he was still crying.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So when she gets up to the front, she says,
- 3:56Speaker 1: now there's a baby on this plane, and it wasn't
- 3:58Speaker 1: and the baby's probably looking at me like why am
- 3:59Speaker 1: I getting for this? I'm not crying. It was actually
- 4:02Speaker 1: the two year old that cried. And so for people
- 4:04Speaker 1: that don't know, we have three children, a three year old,
- 4:06Speaker 1: a two year old, and then she just turned seven
- 4:08Speaker 1: months old, but she was six months old on the plane.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And the flight attendant, she was real nice. She's like,
- 4:14Speaker 1: this is only a fifty one minute flight. If he cries,
- 4:17Speaker 1: if the baby cries the whole time, you're gonna be okay,
- 4:19Speaker 1: like telling everybody. Well. Then when she ever she did that,
- 4:21Speaker 1: I started crying because I was already so stressed out.
- 4:24Speaker 1: So then she walks by, She's like, are you okay
- 4:25Speaker 1: and everything, and then there's a lady behind me with
- 4:27Speaker 1: this She's like, I'm a mom, dude, it's fine. And
- 4:31Speaker 1: then he stopped crying and he was fine, and then
- 4:33Speaker 1: I stopped crying and everything was fine.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I didn't even know what's happening. Yes, I was trying
- 4:38Speaker 2: to keep the two year off on cry.
- 4:39Speaker 1: He's like, you cried on the plane. I was like, yes,
- 4:41Speaker 1: because Stu was sitting with him and I was sitting
- 4:43Speaker 1: with our daughter and I had the baby and the
- 4:45Speaker 1: baby carrier. But anyways, I think it went well. We
- 4:48Speaker 1: had a good time, except for it's just like you
- 4:50Speaker 1: go on a cruise ship, you're going to get something,
- 4:52Speaker 1: and a ton of people got COVID and so whenever
- 4:56Speaker 1: I got home that I'm having to call into work
- 4:58Speaker 1: and ask to work from home and stuff like that.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And then they wanted me to test because they didn't
- 5:02Speaker 1: want me to come to the office and spread it
- 5:04Speaker 1: because it's so contagious. So yeah, so we're our throats
- 5:08Speaker 1: are still a little scratchy, but we're getting through. But
- 5:11Speaker 1: we got to get this done because we are going
- 5:13Speaker 1: on another trip. I have a work trip that the
- 5:16Speaker 1: whole FAM's coming with me, and then we're going to
- 5:19Speaker 1: Fredericksburg for October Fest.
- 5:21Speaker 2: We'll see you there.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see kind of see them there. We might
- 5:25Speaker 1: see them there anyways. But this will be coming out
- 5:28Speaker 1: when we're headed that way. But anything else do I
- 5:31Speaker 1: don't want to upset you an ex camper in the
- 5:34Speaker 1: in the comment section ex.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Camper, Oh, I know, I mean she she can bring
- 5:40Speaker 2: down a podcast.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Yes, she almost brought down a marriage.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Oh, that was probably the last straw.
- 5:50Speaker 1: No, it's just that you don't say that to someone
- 5:52Speaker 1: when they're about to record. And then he sits there
- 5:54Speaker 1: and tells me that, and then and then Stu has
- 5:57Speaker 1: a real mac for like annoying me and just continuing on.
- 6:01Speaker 1: So but we're back. We're going to pretend to be
- 6:02Speaker 1: happy here when we go to North Carolina and talk
- 6:04Speaker 1: about this murder. Sorry, anything else, Patreon. We do have
- 6:08Speaker 1: that bonus episode out now if anybody wants to check
- 6:11Speaker 1: it out. It's the second part of the Scott Peterson
- 6:13Speaker 1: and we'll we'll try to record some more the rest
- 6:16Speaker 1: of that series as well to put out on Patreon
- 6:18Speaker 1: in between our regular episodes and then Instagram, Facebook, anything
- 6:26Speaker 1: else do?
- 6:26Speaker 2: Nope?
- 6:27Speaker 1: All right? Oh, five stars only on the reviews. Okay,
- 6:30Speaker 1: ex Camper didn't apparently didn't listen to that and all that.
- 6:32Speaker 1: It was five stars only. All right, let's get into
- 6:35Speaker 1: our case out of North Carolina. We haven't been there
- 6:38Speaker 1: in a while, so too, we've never been there. I've
- 6:41Speaker 1: never been to North Carolina, have you?
- 6:43Speaker 2: I have not.
- 6:44Speaker 1: I'd like to go.
- 6:45Speaker 2: It looks really we right now.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I've seen that. Yeah, it looks really pretty though. Okay.
- 6:51Speaker 1: So Shannon Rippy Van Newkirk was born April sixth, nineteen sixty. Now,
- 6:56Speaker 1: not a lot is known about Shannon. She was living
- 6:58Speaker 1: in Wilmington, North Carolina, working at mott Landscaping.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Now.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Shannon had friends and family whom she spoke with frequently. Frequently.
- 7:07Speaker 1: This included her mom, who she was very close to.
- 7:10Speaker 1: She would speak to her multiple times a day. She did, however,
- 7:13Speaker 1: struggle with a drinking problem. She seemed to have received
- 7:17Speaker 1: several dwi's and then she finally got her license revoked.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Leaving her only source of transportation as a moped because
- 7:26Speaker 1: she couldn't no more. I guess you don't need a
- 7:28Speaker 1: license to drive a moped.
- 7:30Speaker 2: That didn't make any sense. But what maybe they didn't.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I thought you had to any motorized bigle. I thought
- 7:35Speaker 2: you had to have a license.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I don't think a moped is.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Like a it's like a bicycle because it's got ye.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I don't know if it was a moped or if
- 7:41Speaker 1: it was like an electric bike. Maybe in the image
- 7:44Speaker 1: in the pictures and stuff like that, but the court
- 7:47Speaker 1: document said she had a moped and that was the
- 7:48Speaker 1: only thing she was allowed to drive. Maybe she wasn't
- 7:50Speaker 1: even supposed to be driving that. I don't know. Maybe
- 7:53Speaker 1: she thought I could get away with it if they
- 7:55Speaker 1: come in a if they stopped.
- 7:56Speaker 2: George Jones got one for riding his lawnmower. So visit that.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Oh that was the one where I I said, we
- 8:04Speaker 1: have to stop this. Yes, okay, So you go on
- 8:07Speaker 1: about me going on about other things, and then you
- 8:09Speaker 1: go on about George Jones too long, and I had
- 8:11Speaker 1: to put them all.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Need Jesus, that's the end of the episode.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Stu said I could talk about the cruise as
- 8:17Speaker 1: much as I want at the end of the episode,
- 8:19Speaker 1: which fine, I'm not going to though, because we don't
- 8:21Speaker 1: have time today.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Sorry guys next time.
- 8:24Speaker 1: We're in a bit of a tight schedule right now.
- 8:28Speaker 2: On April sixth, twenty fourteen, Shannon's mom, Roberta Lewis, went
- 8:32Speaker 2: to visit her daughter. It was her fifty fourth birthday
- 8:35Speaker 2: and she was planning on spending time with her. She
- 8:38Speaker 2: knocked on her.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Apartment aportment door.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Apartment door.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Still thinks we're on the cruise aport. Maybe maybe that
- 8:45Speaker 1: was our apartment on the cruise.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Maybe I'm still drunk from the cruise.
- 8:50Speaker 1: No, you're not. You didn't even get drunk on the cruise.
- 8:52Speaker 2: No, I can't. You got three children.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I have three children. You really can't do that.
- 8:56Speaker 2: No, you're not supposed to. I mean, I'm sure people do.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Like maybe, uh Shannon.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Shannon might had a problem.
- 9:03Speaker 2: With the cruise. Now. Her mom knocked on her apartment
- 9:06Speaker 2: door in Wilmington. However, no one answered, and this seemed
- 9:09Speaker 2: odd to her, but she thought that perhaps she had
- 9:12Speaker 2: went somewhere with a friend.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I mean, Shannon is have a drinking issue, so you know,
- 9:17Speaker 1: it's maybe She's like, oh, you know, maybe she she
- 9:21Speaker 1: got into something last night, or you know, still asleep
- 9:23Speaker 1: or something like that.
- 9:25Speaker 2: So, after waiting a while, she decided to leave. She
- 9:27Speaker 2: left the balloons and a present on the doorstep.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Very trusting.
- 9:31Speaker 2: She proceeded to call her daughter throughout the day, with
- 9:34Speaker 2: no luck in contact in her The next morning, she
- 9:37Speaker 2: still had not heard from a daughter. So she's concerned
- 9:40Speaker 2: now since this is unlike Shannon to go.
- 9:43Speaker 1: This long without like said, she would talk to her
- 9:45Speaker 1: mom multiple times a day.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and here we are going on forty eight hours.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Well over a birthday as well.
- 9:50Speaker 2: S exactly. So, she stopped by the house and she
- 9:53Speaker 2: found the balloons and the present were still there. She
- 9:56Speaker 2: contacted the Wilmington Police Department to report her as a
- 9:59Speaker 2: miss person. Officers went to Shannon's apartment with no answer.
- 10:03Speaker 2: After knocking, they forcibly entered the apartment to see if
- 10:06Speaker 2: Shannon was in sign possibly having a medical issue. Police
- 10:11Speaker 2: assess the scene and find nothing seems out of sorts,
- 10:14Speaker 2: no signs of robbery, and nothing missing except for Shannon's purse.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Shannon's moped was still parked outside in her parking space,
- 10:23Speaker 2: and it just seemed that she had vanished. They file
- 10:25Speaker 2: a missing report.
- 10:27Speaker 1: On Missing Person.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Persons report on Shannon on April seventh, twenty fourteen, and
- 10:34Speaker 2: she was assigned to a detective.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Detectives begin by interviewing family and friends. They find that
- 10:40Speaker 1: Shannon had spent time at a bar in downtown Wilmington
- 10:44Speaker 1: the night before her disappearance. Here's a little self reflection,
- 10:49Speaker 1: not to just for anyone in general. If you get
- 10:51Speaker 1: multiple dw as, you probably should take a step back.
- 10:53Speaker 1: This also refers to Shannon from from Real Housewives of
- 11:00Speaker 1: Orange County. She got the DWI, but she's still like
- 11:02Speaker 1: drinking on the show. Maybe she should take a step
- 11:04Speaker 1: back from the alcohol, you.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Know, just why if you're having a good time as
- 11:09Speaker 2: long as you're not driving.
- 11:10Speaker 1: No, if you you obviously have a problem. If you're
- 11:12Speaker 1: getting a DWI means you're you're not making good decisions
- 11:15Speaker 1: with alcohol, So you need to probably take a step
- 11:17Speaker 1: back from alcohol for a little bit. That goes for
- 11:20Speaker 1: this Shannon as well as Shannon on Real Housewives of
- 11:22Speaker 1: Orange County. Anyway, so she's she's at the bar celebrating
- 11:26Speaker 1: with a friend because the friend had actually purchased her
- 11:30Speaker 1: a full like makeover package, one of those things where
- 11:32Speaker 1: you go to the spa, you get your hair done,
- 11:34Speaker 1: you get your nails done, you get your makeup done.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Like super nice present from her her friend. So her
- 11:40Speaker 1: friend wanted to meet up with her just so she
- 11:42Speaker 1: could like see you know how it had gone, Like
- 11:45Speaker 1: what do you look like after this makeover I bought
- 11:47Speaker 1: for you? So Shannon was in a great mood, but
- 11:51Speaker 1: as the evening went on, she became upset and just
- 11:54Speaker 1: kind of off. So she's talking to her friend. She
- 11:57Speaker 1: the friend finds out that she was supposed to go
- 11:59Speaker 1: on a date that night, but she was being stood up. Now,
- 12:03Speaker 1: this date was supposed to be with the landscaping. She
- 12:07Speaker 1: worked with the Mott Landscaping. So this was the owner
- 12:10Speaker 1: of the of the Mott's Landscaping and she had had
- 12:14Speaker 1: a Yes, there's a potty watch paint background.
- 12:18Speaker 2: I'm no, I'm just saying that, mister Mott of Mott's Landscaping,
- 12:21Speaker 2: I mean, you don't date employees a story.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I don't think it's like I don't think it's like
- 12:26Speaker 1: he's the owner of Walmart, Like it's it's probably a
- 12:29Speaker 1: local landscaping, Like he probably has a few lawnmowers in
- 12:32Speaker 1: a well.
- 12:33Speaker 2: You still don't date within the the area that you.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Work, Okay, Well I'm just a bad idea. Well he
- 12:38Speaker 1: was doing that, but he was. He was kind of
- 12:40Speaker 1: Everyone felt that Shannon was much more in love with
- 12:44Speaker 1: with I forgot his name if Mott, No, I gotta
- 12:48Speaker 1: go look for his name real quick. It's somewhere else
- 12:50Speaker 1: in the episode. But the Mott guy like he was,
- 12:54Speaker 1: he was She was very much in seemed very much
- 12:57Speaker 1: more into him and wanting this relationship to go further.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Bradley No, No, not James Bradley still.
- 13:05Speaker 2: His last Mott, James Bradley moke.
- 13:12Speaker 1: No, his last name is Mott. Stephen Stephen Mott. So
- 13:19Speaker 1: he's She's really into Stephen, but Stephen's kind of the
- 13:22Speaker 1: friends and family as they're talking to him about this
- 13:23Speaker 1: Stephen guy, like he kind of leads her on. He
- 13:27Speaker 1: you know, will see her for a little bit and
- 13:28Speaker 1: then he pulls back and everything, and she definitely wanted
- 13:32Speaker 1: it to go be more serious than he wanted it
- 13:35Speaker 1: to be. So while interviewing friends and family, they requested
- 13:39Speaker 1: the cell phone records to try to better track her movements. Now,
- 13:43Speaker 1: when they receive those records, it confirmed that she was
- 13:45Speaker 1: at the bar downtown that night. So all that's like
- 13:50Speaker 1: on track for the times that the friend said. The
- 13:53Speaker 1: phone records also showed that she was in frequent contact
- 13:56Speaker 1: with a man that night and his name was James Bradley.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Not James Bradley, just Dreames Bradley. He does not own
- 14:02Speaker 1: mott Landscaping. Now, when looking into James, they find he
- 14:05Speaker 1: is a coworker of Shannon's at the mott Landscaping. On
- 14:09Speaker 1: April ninth, twenty fourteen, they visited James at his home
- 14:13Speaker 1: to interview him about Shannon's disappearance. Now, when they told
- 14:16Speaker 1: him she was missing, he seemed, you know, very surprised,
- 14:19Speaker 1: very shocked. I couldn't believe that Shannon was gone. He
- 14:24Speaker 1: told police that she was severely depressed and had spoken
- 14:27Speaker 1: of committing committing suicide recently. And he was interviewed a
- 14:32Speaker 1: few days later and told police that the last time
- 14:34Speaker 1: he had seen Shannon was on April third, So this
- 14:36Speaker 1: was two or three days prior to her going missing.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So now they're a concerned based on what James said. Okay,
- 14:43Speaker 1: was she depressed? Was she you know her friend had said,
- 14:46Speaker 1: you know, she was in a good mood and then
- 14:48Speaker 1: the guy stood her up, this guy that she's been
- 14:50Speaker 1: on and off in love with for a while. Did
- 14:52Speaker 1: she get to drinking, get depressed and then something happened
- 14:56Speaker 1: to her? And now they're trying to find you know
- 14:58Speaker 1: her some that she did to herself based on what
- 15:02Speaker 1: James said, Yes.
- 15:04Speaker 2: While tracing the cell phone towers looking for Shannon's phone,
- 15:07Speaker 2: they found that she had left the bar that night
- 15:10Speaker 2: and traveled south from downtown Wilmington. They pulled the traffic
- 15:14Speaker 2: cameras that were on the path of the cell phone records.
- 15:18Speaker 2: There they find a truck at around the time that
- 15:20Speaker 2: they believe Shannon was traveling. They are also able to
- 15:23Speaker 2: find footage of that same truck from a gas station.
- 15:27Speaker 2: The gas station footage show Shannon sitting in a truck
- 15:31Speaker 2: and a man going into purchase items from the gas station.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Taking a closer look, the man is familiar to detectives. Kara,
- 15:38Speaker 2: mm hmm, you know who it might be.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It might be it was someone with the last name Mott.
- 15:45Speaker 2: No, you wrote this story, you should know it's Shame's Bradley.
- 15:48Speaker 1: James Bradley or James Bradley Mott.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Because of the Mott's Apple Sauce fortune mogul. Wow, So
- 15:56Speaker 2: they got James Bradley line. They pull his vehicle records
- 16:00Speaker 2: and find out that he drives the same vehicle as
- 16:02Speaker 2: seen in all the traffic camera footage and they're like, dude,
- 16:05Speaker 2: you're lying, so we need to question you some more.
- 16:08Speaker 2: So they bring him back in and they also get
- 16:11Speaker 2: a search warrant for his home and his vehicle. Explain yourself,
- 16:15Speaker 2: mister Bradley, Yes.
- 16:16Speaker 1: You've lied quite a bit to us. You were actually
- 16:20Speaker 1: seen with Shannon the night that she disappeared. So this
- 16:23Speaker 1: is looking suspicious. So James tells police that he did
- 16:26Speaker 1: lie that night. He's like, you know what, I'm not
- 16:28Speaker 1: gonna lie right now. I did lie. I did lie it,
- 16:31Speaker 1: but that he had nothing to do with Shannon's disappearance.
- 16:33Speaker 1: He told police that he had taken Shannon into a
- 16:36Speaker 1: local business and dropped her off. So this is his
- 16:39Speaker 1: new story. So police run down his story. He's not
- 16:43Speaker 1: gonna lie again, but video evidence proves he is lying again. Oh, James,
- 16:48Speaker 1: no one was dropped off at that business the night
- 16:49Speaker 1: of Shannon's disappearance. I mean he should have done some
- 16:51Speaker 1: research or picked a place without the cameras. They bring
- 16:54Speaker 1: him back in and he tells them that he was
- 16:56Speaker 1: driving with Shannon when she began speaking to Stephen Mott,
- 17:00Speaker 1: which is the owner of Mott's Landscaping, the guy that
- 17:02Speaker 1: she had been stood up, was supposed to go on
- 17:05Speaker 1: a date with everything, and then she just jumped out
- 17:07Speaker 1: of his vehicle near Greenfield Lake and that is the
- 17:10Speaker 1: last he had seen her. And police are kind of questioning, like, okay,
- 17:14Speaker 1: so this woman that you're friends with, your coworker jumps
- 17:17Speaker 1: out of the vehicle and you don't go after her.
- 17:20Speaker 1: She's just out there in the middle of nowhere. You
- 17:22Speaker 1: just leave, like this is.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Why she jumped like a frog officer right out on
- 17:24Speaker 2: my way. Now, I couldn't find her in the dark one.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Yeah, So he just he said, he said he didn't
- 17:29Speaker 1: want to look like he was a he e didn't
- 17:33Speaker 1: want to look suspicious, as if he was chasing her
- 17:36Speaker 1: down and make people think that something was that he
- 17:39Speaker 1: was doing something.
- 17:39Speaker 2: He could be chasing her. Someone drive by and they
- 17:42Speaker 2: shoot him, thinking he's.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Again trying to get a woman.
- 17:44Speaker 2: That's what he said. It sounds plausible.
- 17:46Speaker 1: If he wasn't already a pathological liar, we might be
- 17:49Speaker 1: able to believe him. He tells them that he was
- 17:52Speaker 1: hesitant to tell them the truth because of his past. Now,
- 17:55Speaker 1: when looking into James's past, they find that he had
- 17:57Speaker 1: been convicted in nineteen ninety of first degree murderer for
- 18:01Speaker 1: the death of his eight year old stepdaughter, Ivy gets
- 18:04Speaker 1: Gibson in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Now in June of nineteen
- 18:08Speaker 1: this is the story from that why he was in prison,
- 18:11Speaker 1: which my question is why is he not in prison
- 18:13Speaker 1: right now?
- 18:14Speaker 2: I don't know it's first degree murder.
- 18:16Speaker 1: So in June of nineteen eighty eight, James reported Ivy
- 18:18Speaker 1: as being kidnapped from a bus stop in Fayetteville. Now,
- 18:22Speaker 1: please investigate the disappearance and find there's holes in this
- 18:25Speaker 1: story the where he said she was abducted. There it
- 18:28Speaker 1: was like staged. I guess maybe some of her stuff
- 18:31Speaker 1: was like stage to have been dropped or something. So
- 18:35Speaker 1: James finally confessed after two days that he was actually
- 18:40Speaker 1: at home sick when Ivy woke him up by turning
- 18:43Speaker 1: the TV up too loud. So he's laying in bed sick.
- 18:45Speaker 1: She turns the TV up and it just he just snapped.
- 18:49Speaker 1: He picked up a. He started choking the girl, and
- 18:51Speaker 1: then he picked up a sock by and wrapped it
- 18:52Speaker 1: around her neck. He then attempted to cover up his
- 18:56Speaker 1: crime by placing the girl's body in a trash bag
- 18:58Speaker 1: and taking it to the He ended up pleading guilty
- 19:02Speaker 1: to first degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison.
- 19:05Speaker 1: So why is he out? Like this is a horrific crime.
- 19:07Speaker 1: He killed an innocent eight year old. I don't care
- 19:09Speaker 1: if she did turn up the TV. Whatever it is.
- 19:11Speaker 1: It all sounds like bullshit to me though, but whatever. However,
- 19:15Speaker 1: the crime occurred prior to the North Carolina Structured Sentencing Act,
- 19:19Speaker 1: so he was eligible for parole, like you get so
- 19:22Speaker 1: I guess prior to that you were you could get
- 19:25Speaker 1: life in prison, but you were allowed. You had to
- 19:27Speaker 1: be given the option for parole eventually. So unfortunately, after
- 19:32Speaker 1: twenty five years, on February eleventh, twenty thirteen, the pro
- 19:36Speaker 1: boar decided to release him.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Well, so now we have people to hate yes and blame.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Yesinger point, yes, he's apparently too. They let him out,
- 19:47Speaker 1: and but there was records of him having written two
- 19:51Speaker 1: short stories where he like violently murders and rapes women
- 19:54Speaker 1: and stuff like that, like talking about murder, and they
- 19:56Speaker 1: still let this guy out, Like this is insane to
- 19:58Speaker 1: me that after twenty five years, they're like, let's let
- 20:02Speaker 1: a strong, healthy mail that killed an eight year old,
- 20:05Speaker 1: Let's let let's write in stories about raping and murdering women.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Let's just let him out into the.
- 20:09Speaker 2: He seems like a nice guy. Yeah, what's say you
- 20:11Speaker 2: rest a pearl board.
- 20:12Speaker 1: I'd like to know what the thinking was or And
- 20:16Speaker 1: apparently he never he pleaded guilty to that crime, but
- 20:19Speaker 1: he never really took accountability for it, because I'm pretty
- 20:23Speaker 1: sure he was lying about he just snapped because she
- 20:25Speaker 1: turned the TV up, like something else is going on there.
- 20:29Speaker 1: But they said he never really took accountability for killing
- 20:33Speaker 1: the little girl. He just said that she made him
- 20:36Speaker 1: like she was basically blaming the victim, like she made
- 20:38Speaker 1: him angry. That's why he did what he did. And
- 20:41Speaker 1: yet somehow he got let out on pearl out into
- 20:44Speaker 1: the world. And now here we are a year later,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and this is where we're That was in twenty thirteen,
- 20:49Speaker 1: and this is all happening in twenty fourteen.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Now with this information, police pressed James for more answers.
- 20:56Speaker 2: He denied harmon Shannon, but he did admit to taking
- 20:59Speaker 2: at least one woman to a vacant lot owned by
- 21:02Speaker 2: Mott Landscaping to have consensual sex with her.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Yeah. After finding out all this stuff too about James,
- 21:08Speaker 1: the suspicions on Stephen Mott kind of went out the
- 21:13Speaker 1: door quickly, like they've got an actual convicted murder that
- 21:17Speaker 1: was last seen with Shannon.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a weirdo for sure too. So police started
- 21:21Speaker 2: their searches for Shannon at all the properties owned by
- 21:24Speaker 2: Mott Landscaping. This included the wooded areas around these lots,
- 21:29Speaker 2: the area around James's homes, and Greenfield Lake, Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Where he said that Shannon had jumped out of his vehicle,
- 21:37Speaker 1: which sounds suspicious, does it.
- 21:42Speaker 2: They were unsuccessful in finding her body or any signs
- 21:45Speaker 2: of struggle or Shannon's things. On April twenty ninth, twenty fourteen,
- 21:49Speaker 2: as they were searching for Shannon on a farm owned
- 21:52Speaker 2: by mott Landscaping, and this property was one that James,
- 21:56Speaker 2: who would mow and clear on a regular basis, across
- 22:00Speaker 2: the naked body of a woman inside three trash bags.
- 22:04Speaker 2: These bags were buried in a shallow grave and the
- 22:07Speaker 2: woman was in the fetal position with her legs bound
- 22:10Speaker 2: with duct tape. They set in the body in for
- 22:13Speaker 2: forensic testing, and they initially think this must be Shannon.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, what are the odds They're looking for
- 22:19Speaker 1: Shannon who's been missing and was last seen with a
- 22:22Speaker 1: convicted murderer, and then they find a body of a woman,
- 22:25Speaker 1: So immediately they go. Now that they have the body,
- 22:28Speaker 1: they go and arrest James for the murder of Shannon. Now,
- 22:32Speaker 1: once brought in, he immediately asked for a lawyer and
- 22:35Speaker 1: just stops talking to police As they speak to the
- 22:38Speaker 1: people in James's life, he apparently had created a cover
- 22:42Speaker 1: story for why he had been in prison for that long,
- 22:44Speaker 1: Because you know, if someone's been in prison for twenty
- 22:46Speaker 1: five years for murdering an eight year old, you're not
- 22:48Speaker 1: going to have a lot of friends or people wanting
- 22:51Speaker 1: to hang out with you. I would think like you'd
- 22:53Speaker 1: be kind of an outcast. Nobody probably, yeah, nobody'd really
- 22:57Speaker 1: want to hire you. Things like that. Well, because apparently
- 23:00Speaker 1: and he told people that he killed his ex wife's
- 23:02Speaker 1: lover in a fit of rage and it spent twenty
- 23:05Speaker 1: five years in prison for that crime. So that's a
- 23:07Speaker 1: much more palatable crime. I would say, you're just.
- 23:11Speaker 2: You show up, you find him in bed, you lose
- 23:14Speaker 2: your shit.
- 23:15Speaker 1: He didn't even say I killed my ex wife. He's
- 23:17Speaker 1: killed his ex wife's lover. So then people might be
- 23:20Speaker 1: able to understand that type of murder and rage, but
- 23:25Speaker 1: never would understand why you killed an eight year old
- 23:28Speaker 1: little girl. Now, with James not talking, and also whenever
- 23:33Speaker 1: they heard this, they kind of understood why maybe Shannon
- 23:35Speaker 1: was in the car with him, because she didn't know
- 23:37Speaker 1: the full story either. So with James not talking, they
- 23:40Speaker 1: turned to the crime scene evidence. Now they weren't for
- 23:43Speaker 1: a big surprise because forensics testing would show that it
- 23:47Speaker 1: was not Shannon's.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Do it was not no, it was not Wow.
- 23:50Speaker 1: The body was of a woman by the name of
- 23:52Speaker 1: Elijah Tucker and she was thirty three years old. Now
- 23:56Speaker 1: I thought it was kind of rude on the I read.
- 24:00Speaker 1: So I wrote most this based off the court documents,
- 24:03Speaker 1: but there was a Forensic Files episode and so I
- 24:06Speaker 1: was watching that and the medical examiner came on and
- 24:09Speaker 1: she immediately so Shannon's fifty four and Elijah's thirty three.
- 24:15Speaker 1: So she gets on there and she said, I knew
- 24:17Speaker 1: immediately she said this, this was not the body of
- 24:20Speaker 1: a fifty four year old woman. This was the body
- 24:23Speaker 1: of a young woman. I was like, wow, really, some shade,
- 24:26Speaker 1: just some shade, come on. And then I was expecting
- 24:28Speaker 1: them to say, like, something's twenty and she was like
- 24:30Speaker 1: thirty thirty three, thirty four. So I felt like, you know,
- 24:34Speaker 1: fifty four's young STU right, yeah, I would, thanks, so okay, yeah,
- 24:39Speaker 1: So anyway, so this is this is the shock of
- 24:42Speaker 1: the lifetime that this is not Shannon to them. I mean,
- 24:45Speaker 1: because anytime you hear it's like when we were covering
- 24:47Speaker 1: the Lacy Peterson thing. You find a body, everybody knows
- 24:50Speaker 1: this is the person they've been looking for, a body
- 24:52Speaker 1: of a woman, and nine times, I mean ninety nine
- 24:55Speaker 1: percent of the time, that's who you're gonna find. If
- 24:57Speaker 1: there's a body randomly found, you don't ever think it's
- 25:00Speaker 1: going to be somebody else. So Elijah, she had four
- 25:04Speaker 1: broken ribs and had been bludgeoned or slammed into something
- 25:07Speaker 1: four times. That's what the autopsy revealed. She had been
- 25:10Speaker 1: missing since August twenty thirteen, and one of the detectives
- 25:14Speaker 1: that was working on the Shannon case. Immediately whenever they
- 25:19Speaker 1: described the woman and everything, he started thinking could this
- 25:23Speaker 1: be Elijah, And then it turned out it was because
- 25:24Speaker 1: that was a case that he had been working on
- 25:27Speaker 1: the year before. With this new murder victim, police are
- 25:30Speaker 1: immediately suspicious of James. They find that he would have
- 25:33Speaker 1: been the only person with the means and opportunity and
- 25:36Speaker 1: that knew that location. Remember this is the Mott landscaping.
- 25:40Speaker 1: He's cutting the grass there, He's clearing the land like
- 25:43Speaker 1: he's out there frequently. He's also one of the few
- 25:46Speaker 1: people that would know the code to the gate to
- 25:48Speaker 1: be able to access access it to dispose of the body.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I guess the only other person would probably be the
- 25:53Speaker 1: Stephen Mott guy. Now, in addition, looking at the forensics
- 25:57Speaker 1: from the scene, one of the items that can be
- 25:59Speaker 1: tested is the duct tape that was wrapped around the woman,
- 26:03Speaker 1: So they find that it matches duct tape that was
- 26:05Speaker 1: found at James's home, and then they also find bleach
- 26:08Speaker 1: and trash bags used in a nearby building where James
- 26:10Speaker 1: would frequent on the property where he probably got the
- 26:13Speaker 1: trash bags. So he brought the duct tape with him
- 26:16Speaker 1: and got the trash bags from the actual farm.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Site where he was working. Yeah, Now they did not
- 26:23Speaker 2: have Shannon's body, and they decided that if they should
- 26:27Speaker 2: drop the case against Jans for Shannon's murder. They ultimately
- 26:31Speaker 2: decided to go forward without a body.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Yeah, because at this point they're like, should we It's
- 26:37Speaker 1: hard to try a case without a body, Like, that's
- 26:38Speaker 1: what they'll tell you. And now they don't have a body.
- 26:41Speaker 1: They have somebody's body, but just not Shannon's body.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Now, this is going to make things a whole lot
- 26:46Speaker 2: more difficult for the prosecution. So they start by offering
- 26:50Speaker 2: him a plea deal to take the death penalty off
- 26:53Speaker 2: the table. He declines that. They then proceed with the trial,
- 26:57Speaker 2: hoping that they could convince the jury by showing them
- 27:01Speaker 2: who James was, that he was a serial killer. They
- 27:04Speaker 2: presented to the jury the cell phone evidence James lyon
- 27:07Speaker 2: multiple times and his pattern of murder.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe it was, you know, because sometimes they
- 27:12Speaker 1: won't let your past into a trial. But I believe
- 27:16Speaker 1: that was one of his things that he was trying
- 27:18Speaker 1: to appeal on, was that they allowed them to talk
- 27:20Speaker 1: about the.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Fact that he past crimes. They believed that he had
- 27:25Speaker 2: killed Shannon through strangulation or some other means that would
- 27:28Speaker 2: not produce any blood or forensic evidence, and then disposed
- 27:32Speaker 2: of the body because his vehicle did not show any
- 27:35Speaker 2: signs of violence towards Shannon in it there was blood or.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Hair well, I mean even if they found a hair, they.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Had hair roots or anything like that.
- 27:46Speaker 1: But yeah, it's something that he wouldn't have to similar
- 27:49Speaker 1: to like he they already have it on record that
- 27:52Speaker 1: he did murder someone, that the child that way was
- 27:54Speaker 1: through strangulation. In the end, James Bradley was convicted of
- 27:59Speaker 1: second degree murder in the case of Shannon Rippy van
- 28:02Speaker 1: Newkirk and was sentenced to thirty three years in prison. Now,
- 28:06Speaker 1: the family of Shannon was pretty disappointed that he did
- 28:10Speaker 1: not receive the death penalty for all the lives he
- 28:12Speaker 1: had taken. I mean, he's now murdered a child, He's
- 28:16Speaker 1: murdered Shannon, and then I mean we all know he
- 28:18Speaker 1: murdered Yeah, So and then they still didn't know where
- 28:22Speaker 1: Shannon's body was. James, he wouldn't confess, he wouldn't take
- 28:26Speaker 1: any responsibility. He wouldn't tell him where he disposed of Shannon.
- 28:29Speaker 1: He wouldn't tell him anything. So they're still searching to
- 28:32Speaker 1: this day to bring some closure to the family now.
- 28:36Speaker 1: And two, the only good thing is that he's not
- 28:38Speaker 1: going to get out of prison again. But they did
- 28:41Speaker 1: for that he get the death penalty. Well, because see
- 28:44Speaker 1: what happened the one he didn't get the death penaltry anything,
- 28:46Speaker 1: and then he got out again and he killed two people.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Yeah, and then they didn't have a body for the
- 28:50Speaker 2: second one, so they can't get him really on first
- 28:52Speaker 2: grade murder with the death penalty, so they had to
- 28:53Speaker 2: go second to gred murder.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Yeah, they had to do what they could without him
- 28:57Speaker 1: speaking or actually even having a body. So in twenty nineteen,
- 29:02Speaker 1: James Bradley was tried and convicted of the murder of
- 29:05Speaker 1: Elijah Tucker and he was sentenced to life in prison
- 29:08Speaker 1: for that one. And they could they believe that he
- 29:11Speaker 1: could be involved in other murders in the area. They
- 29:14Speaker 1: just don't know. So he's on their radar because obviously
- 29:17Speaker 1: in just the short amount of time he was in
- 29:18Speaker 1: prison until February twenty thirteen, and by April of twenty fourteen,
- 29:22Speaker 1: he'd already murdered two women. So this could he could
- 29:25Speaker 1: definitely be responsible for other plenty more. Yeah, and apparently
- 29:29Speaker 1: with his work and working for the landscaping company everything,
- 29:32Speaker 1: he apparently knew quite a few places to dispose of
- 29:35Speaker 1: bodies where no one's going to find it. I guess
- 29:38Speaker 1: the Mott Landscaping was more than just a lawnmower werre.
- 29:40Speaker 1: He apparently owned.
- 29:41Speaker 2: A lot of real estate.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yes, so yeah, So that's our case out of North Carolina.
- 29:47Speaker 1: It's a short one this week because.
- 29:48Speaker 2: We are time short on time.
- 29:51Speaker 1: We're short on time. We're going to try to get
- 29:53Speaker 1: one out for next week, but it's going to be difficult,
- 29:56Speaker 1: but we're going to try really hard because.
- 29:59Speaker 2: We're going to go, come home, turn around and leave
- 30:01Speaker 2: right again.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just how things worked out. Was So, what
- 30:05Speaker 1: happened was the Fredericksburg Am I allowed to talk? Nails
- 30:08Speaker 1: to you an ex camper? Am I allowed to talk?
- 30:10Speaker 1: Now we're at the end.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Can I leave the room?
- 30:11Speaker 1: If no, you're not allowed to leave the room. You're
- 30:14Speaker 1: not allowed to leave ever, you're.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Oh God spelled death to us part.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Yes. So what happened was we booked the Octoberfest in Fredericksburg.
- 30:25Speaker 1: You have to book like an Airbnb if you want
- 30:27Speaker 1: to be close to it pretty fear in advance. So
- 30:29Speaker 1: this was when we lived in Louisiana. We went to
- 30:32Speaker 1: the Louisiana Octoberfest, which.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Hey, hey, okay, Robert's Cove. Is that the one in
- 30:38Speaker 2: Robert's Cove?
- 30:39Speaker 1: It's not a bad October.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Well, what it is is there's families there that a
- 30:44Speaker 2: priest came over back in the eighteen hundreds. So all
- 30:47Speaker 2: these families were having a family reunion and then one
- 30:51Speaker 2: day they're like, hey, why won't we just turn this
- 30:52Speaker 2: into German Fest into another louis That was twenty five
- 30:57Speaker 2: years ago, and that was twenty five years more now.
- 30:59Speaker 2: That was so basically, yeah, basically this festival to started
- 31:02Speaker 2: out as a family reunion. Then they started selling tickets
- 31:04Speaker 2: for people to come. So and evidently the first one
- 31:07Speaker 2: was not very well organized or managed.
- 31:10Speaker 1: No, because that was the one your mom went to
- 31:12Speaker 1: and she was like, this thing sucks, and so we
- 31:15Speaker 1: decided to give it a try.
- 31:17Speaker 2: That was there or three years in a row.
- 31:18Speaker 1: But your mom's one of those ones that like if
- 31:20Speaker 1: it sucked the first time, she's like.
- 31:21Speaker 2: That's wow. And I went there a quarter century ago,
- 31:24Speaker 2: was terrible, So I'm not going.
- 31:25Speaker 1: But they have improved and it, but I mean she
- 31:28Speaker 1: was correct, it is not when we go to this
- 31:32Speaker 1: not a German it's a family reunion where they with
- 31:36Speaker 1: some German music and they have leader hose in and
- 31:38Speaker 1: they do the chicken dance, and they do serve some
- 31:41Speaker 1: German type food, but it's not like anything. I mean,
- 31:44Speaker 1: I think they're a.
- 31:45Speaker 2: German Cajun mixed fusion basic.
- 31:48Speaker 1: They did have some German family come and shows how
- 31:51Speaker 1: to make sauerkraft one year, so that was something. But
- 31:53Speaker 1: the Octoberfest in Fredericksburg, that's like a German town and
- 31:57Speaker 1: they have a whole list of like offen take German food,
- 32:01Speaker 1: I mean as I think as you can get without
- 32:03Speaker 1: being in Germany. But it's so you have to book
- 32:06Speaker 1: an area if you want an Airbnb, especially with us
- 32:08Speaker 1: being with all these children, we have to be close by.
- 32:11Speaker 1: We can't be trying to load up a car every
- 32:13Speaker 1: time we want to go down and find parkking and stuff.
- 32:16Speaker 1: So we got us airbnb right across the road from
- 32:20Speaker 1: the street from the or like where it's held in
- 32:24Speaker 1: the main part. But we've never been in Fredericksburg either,
- 32:27Speaker 1: So I had to book this like almost a year ago.
- 32:29Speaker 1: To get this airbnb. Right after we moved here, I
- 32:31Speaker 1: booked it, and then after that I decided to book
- 32:35Speaker 1: a cruise. And then if you go in September on
- 32:39Speaker 1: Disney the Halloween ones, it's cheaper during September because of
- 32:42Speaker 1: hurricane season.
- 32:44Speaker 2: And now we somehow got right in between two we missed.
- 32:47Speaker 1: There was two hurricanes, one sandwiching us like one the
- 32:51Speaker 1: week before and then one this past week that Heleen
- 32:55Speaker 1: or whatever it's gone.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Well that really messed everybody up.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so we missed. So so if anyways, it was cheaper.
- 33:01Speaker 1: So then the Disney cruise came about and then we
- 33:05Speaker 1: have a over there in New Mexico. My work was
- 33:08Speaker 1: giving out tickets to the Hot Air Balloon Festival, and
- 33:12Speaker 1: so we don't know how long we're going to be
- 33:14Speaker 1: in this area. Hopefully not more than another year or two.
- 33:17Speaker 2: That's pously. This balloon festival is the one to see
- 33:20Speaker 2: in being.
- 33:21Speaker 1: It's an international one. There's like they do these like
- 33:23Speaker 1: Grand Descent or ascents or whatever, and it's four five
- 33:28Speaker 1: hundred hot air balloons and things like that. So we're
- 33:31Speaker 1: gonna So then that happened the next weekend. It's going
- 33:34Speaker 1: on this weekend and next weekend. So we're going to
- 33:37Speaker 1: or not this weekend, two weeks, next weekend and the
- 33:40Speaker 1: next weekend. So that's back to back and then we'll
- 33:42Speaker 1: be home for like five weeks and then.
- 33:45Speaker 2: We're we're going to do something else.
- 33:46Speaker 1: We're going to do something crazy. Guys, we'll tell you
- 33:48Speaker 1: all about it. We're doing something crazy.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Well, I might have to do a whole podcast just
- 33:52Speaker 2: dedicated to that. Mini podcasts.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll make sure and let x Camper know not
- 33:57Speaker 1: to listen. She's not listening again anyway. She said she can't.
- 34:00Speaker 2: She can't even well, I mean she could come back
- 34:03Speaker 2: and just leave the review as it is. Just bump
- 34:05Speaker 2: it up to five stars.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Yeah, just say five stars and then say I can't. Okay,
- 34:08Speaker 1: that's fine.
- 34:09Speaker 2: You people suck, I can't five stars.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'll do what you ask.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I mean, that girl that said that we were misusing
- 34:15Speaker 2: our talent, she gave us five stars, well it was
- 34:18Speaker 2: like three. And then she must have gone back and
- 34:19Speaker 2: up at the fire.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Because we said five stars. Only you say what you
- 34:23Speaker 1: want in the comments, so I know she's still listening.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and she thinks we have talent.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, So that's our episode. Stude, do you
- 34:32Speaker 1: have a our child threw up on us on the
- 34:36Speaker 1: way home?
- 34:37Speaker 2: Well, that was in the trans that was in the
- 34:38Speaker 2: transport from the Yeah ship to there.
- 34:41Speaker 1: We only had one incident where there was throw up,
- 34:43Speaker 1: and that was like a I think a. Our children
- 34:46Speaker 1: are sleepers. Let me tell you, Like they sleep eight
- 34:48Speaker 1: nine o'clock in the morning. The baby slept till ten
- 34:51Speaker 1: o'clock this morning. Like, they are sleepers, and when we
- 34:53Speaker 1: have to wake them up early, it's not fun for anybody.
- 34:58Speaker 1: So she got up, she drank it's on the ship.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Normally at home they get milk in the morning, but
- 35:03Speaker 1: on the ship there was chocolate milk, obviously because it's crazy,
- 35:06Speaker 1: and so she was having chocolate milk every morning like
- 35:09Speaker 1: special treat. So she had her chocolate milk and her
- 35:11Speaker 1: little We usually give them a little gram cracker or
- 35:13Speaker 1: something because they're not big eaters in the morning either.
- 35:16Speaker 1: You gotta wait until like ten eleven o'clock to feed
- 35:18Speaker 1: them their breakfast, and they're like brunch. These are high
- 35:22Speaker 1: matenance children. They are you know what, I don't care.
- 35:25Speaker 1: They sleep through the night in their own beds. They
- 35:27Speaker 1: can do whatever they want during the day. So she
- 35:29Speaker 1: so we're driving the car and I'll we got one
- 35:32Speaker 1: of them big ass mini sprinter vans because we have
- 35:36Speaker 1: so much stuff and all these people and all these
- 35:38Speaker 1: car seats and everything. So we get in and I
- 35:40Speaker 1: get car seats sick pretty easily. So we're all in
- 35:42Speaker 1: the back and I was thinking, oh my god, I'm
- 35:45Speaker 1: gonna have to find me a bag. I'm gonna throw
- 35:47Speaker 1: up in this car. And then it kind of passed
- 35:49Speaker 1: or whatever, and then my daughter starts going. She's sitting
- 35:51Speaker 1: next to me, She's going, my tummy's red. And I
- 35:54Speaker 1: was like, I've never heard this one before. This is
- 35:57Speaker 1: a new one. My tummy's red. Like what do you
- 35:59Speaker 1: mean your tummies read? It's red? And I'm like, okay.
- 36:02Speaker 1: I thought maybe she needed to go to the bathroom
- 36:04Speaker 1: or something. And I was like, okay, well, we're almost
- 36:07Speaker 1: to the airport and everything. It was about a forty
- 36:09Speaker 1: five minute drive. And so then she said it again,
- 36:13Speaker 1: and I should have known. I should have got a
- 36:15Speaker 1: bag and everything, but I didn't. I just didn't think
- 36:18Speaker 1: any of it. I thought maybe she was thirsty or something.
- 36:20Speaker 1: So I gave her a little sip of my water
- 36:22Speaker 1: and the minute I gave her the water, it came
- 36:25Speaker 1: right back out all over me, like the side of
- 36:28Speaker 1: my pants. They were in a car, she was in
- 36:30Speaker 1: a car seat, so most of it landed on there,
- 36:33Speaker 1: and then the seats were like a leather pleathor type thing,
- 36:35Speaker 1: so it didn't really affect the vehicle, and not much
- 36:38Speaker 1: got on the vehicle actually, but it was like gram
- 36:41Speaker 1: crackers and chocol milk. It was disgusting.
- 36:42Speaker 2: It cost me a twenty dollars tap to the driver.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Yes, so we were. Uh so we were twenty dollars.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Just saw you gave him. I would have given him more.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I thought you.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I might have gave him forty. I don't know.
- 36:55Speaker 1: You probably gave him forty because we would have given
- 36:57Speaker 1: him twenty dollars probably normal.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 37:01Speaker 1: It wasn't expensive sprinter though. It wasn't his van though.
- 37:04Speaker 1: He worked for a company, so it's not like he
- 37:06Speaker 1: was out. But it didn't matter. I cleaned everything up
- 37:09Speaker 1: and you couldn't even see it. He didn't even know
- 37:10Speaker 1: what was going on. So, oh you did? You told him?
- 37:14Speaker 2: I think you're sorry. The girl got sick, and I like, huh.
- 37:18Speaker 1: It's like whatever, I got to go pick other people.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I'm surprised he didn't hear the commotion going on. You
- 37:22Speaker 2: are sitting right behind him.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I know.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Well, I think he was in his own little world.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, he was starting to talk to us like
- 37:29Speaker 1: chit chat at the beginning, but he quickly saw that
- 37:31Speaker 1: that's not my h that's definitely not your strong No,
- 37:34Speaker 1: I'm not I can't do.
- 37:35Speaker 2: I thought you were chatty on the cruise.
- 37:37Speaker 1: I don't even start with me. No, Stuart says that
- 37:40Speaker 1: I start chatting with people. Stuart's a chatty Kathy, but
- 37:44Speaker 1: you know.
- 37:44Speaker 2: What's a chatty Cathy.
- 37:46Speaker 1: But I also realized something. Stuart's a chatty Kathy, but
- 37:49Speaker 1: he's really bad at it. He's so terrible with small talk.
- 37:51Speaker 1: I think he even told you, I'm like, you're the
- 37:53Speaker 1: worst one small talk like it's it's I think we're
- 37:58Speaker 1: both terrible at it because we're not. That's just not
- 38:01Speaker 1: our forte.
- 38:02Speaker 2: I don't even That's probably how we got together. Yeah,
- 38:05Speaker 2: I'm not sure how we got together. I don't know.
- 38:07Speaker 1: So anyway, so we got to the airport, we changed,
- 38:09Speaker 1: had to change clothes, every we had to change. We
- 38:11Speaker 1: were there way ahead of time, and then we had
- 38:12Speaker 1: passes from our uh that we could use the United
- 38:16Speaker 1: Club and that was awesome. That was the best thing ever.
- 38:19Speaker 1: If you're ever in the Orlando airport and you have children,
- 38:22Speaker 1: it's worth the money to pay for the one day
- 38:25Speaker 1: pass because you're going to spend that money on food
- 38:28Speaker 1: anyways in the airport, but we had a long time
- 38:31Speaker 1: to wait. We had like two hours before our plane ride.
- 38:34Speaker 2: So I think we had almost three. We had four
- 38:37Speaker 2: by the time I got to the airport. But after
- 38:39Speaker 2: getting checked in and all the other boats, yeah, we
- 38:41Speaker 2: had a lot. I screwed up our bag check in.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Yeah, they screwed up our bag check in.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Then we had to stand in another line. Then I
- 38:48Speaker 2: had to wait on y'all to change.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Yeah, but everyone did really well. The baby did well.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Oh.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I did run out of food on the first flat
- 38:55Speaker 1: because I am pumping still, So I pump and I
- 38:58Speaker 1: thought I had enough food for her, and I thought
- 39:00Speaker 1: I could pump on the plane, but that just didn't
- 39:02Speaker 1: work out. I had to give the baby, Like, don't
- 39:04Speaker 1: judge me, it wasn't gonna hurt her, but I had
- 39:07Speaker 1: to give her some apple juice because I like, she
- 39:09Speaker 1: was starting to cry and she wanted food, but I
- 39:11Speaker 1: didn't have any, and we were It was at the
- 39:13Speaker 1: point where I couldn't like go and decide to come.
- 39:15Speaker 1: We were descending, Yes, we were descending, and I think
- 39:17Speaker 1: our ears were popping and I didn't. We ran out
- 39:19Speaker 1: of milk and I had to give her apple juice.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I felt so bad about it, but I don't normally
- 39:22Speaker 1: give her that, and she's not going to kill her
- 39:25Speaker 1: the one night, the entire world, how terrible mother I am.
- 39:29Speaker 2: All seven billion people that listen to this podcast.
- 39:31Speaker 1: She might have had like maybe an ounce or two
- 39:34Speaker 1: of the juice, like that was that was it. I
- 39:36Speaker 1: felt really bad about that. So why are you looking
- 39:40Speaker 1: at she didn't have any more than two ounces of
- 39:42Speaker 1: the juice. She had two ounces of apple juice because
- 39:46Speaker 1: she was She liked it, though she was like, what
- 39:48Speaker 1: was this new? But then we did deal with it
- 39:51Speaker 1: the next day because she did. She did. Uh. They
- 39:54Speaker 1: come out have quite the blowout from it, but she
- 39:56Speaker 1: was fine. Everybody, don't don't this third child.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Okay, everything's fine, thine apple sauce at the age. Why
- 40:01Speaker 2: are you worried about people?
- 40:02Speaker 1: I know, because people are gonna be like, oh my god,
- 40:04Speaker 1: you fed your baby juice. That's not terrible, no, no, but
- 40:07Speaker 1: it was either that or let her scream on a
- 40:08Speaker 1: plane without a right mountains and so yes, so yeah,
- 40:14Speaker 1: there's people giving their babies mountain dew right now.
- 40:16Speaker 2: People.
- 40:16Speaker 1: What I did was not that bad. So but yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 1: overall I think it was good.
- 40:22Speaker 2: You think, yeah, well we didn't kill each other. We
- 40:25Speaker 2: came backstill marrion, three kids, still yeah, and.
- 40:28Speaker 1: The I think maybe we might do it again if
- 40:30Speaker 1: the little littlest one, like my daughter really and our
- 40:34Speaker 1: daughter really enjoyed it, because she's three and a half
- 40:36Speaker 1: almost four, and she loves Minnie Mouse like loves her,
- 40:40Speaker 1: and so our son he's two, and he he liked
- 40:45Speaker 1: it like he When I say he liked it, I
- 40:47Speaker 1: mean he he liked the characters when he got up
- 40:50Speaker 1: to him and stuff like that, but he didn't understand
- 40:52Speaker 1: like the waiting in line and everything at that, Like
- 40:55Speaker 1: he wasn't excited like she wanted to go see the characters.
- 40:57Speaker 1: And the baby obviously doesn't care at all. She was
- 41:00Speaker 1: just like what the fuck is this? Like every time
- 41:02Speaker 1: she had her face on, like what the fuck? What
- 41:04Speaker 1: kind of furry shit are you guys into? Anyways, but
- 41:08Speaker 1: so she so she didn't really care. So if in
- 41:12Speaker 1: a couple of years, if the baby is into it
- 41:15Speaker 1: and the middle ones into it, then we might do
- 41:18Speaker 1: it again. But it is expensive. I will say that. Like, so, man,
- 41:22Speaker 1: these people are already booking next Round'm like, Jesus, we
- 41:24Speaker 1: need to I'm like the Tiger King. We need to. Financially,
- 41:27Speaker 1: I will never financially recover from that, financially recover from
- 41:31Speaker 1: the this Disney cruise before we put book another one.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Hell yeah, yeah, I mean it wasn't bad.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Do you mean it wasn't bad?
- 41:40Speaker 2: Disney Cruise wasn't terrible.
- 41:42Speaker 1: The price or what it was.
- 41:43Speaker 2: I don't know what the price was, you know, I'm saying.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I'm saying on the I'm saying on the the financial
- 41:49Speaker 1: aspect for already be booking another one. To me, it
- 41:51Speaker 1: just seems like but they probably have more money than us,
- 41:54Speaker 1: so it's fine.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Oh, Maymber, they buck their other one two years ago
- 41:56Speaker 2: and it was paid for and they just keep paying
- 41:58Speaker 2: an advance. I don't know.
- 42:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 42:01Speaker 2: But they also got to do is put that deposit
- 42:03Speaker 2: money down.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you just gotta get this, I guess.
- 42:08Speaker 2: So.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Yeah, So that was our cruise. We had a good
- 42:10Speaker 1: time in Florida. Yeah, and then we'll tell you all
- 42:13Speaker 1: about October fift not you, ex camper, You're not allowed
- 42:16Speaker 1: to listen to this. So you're to band band from
- 42:19Speaker 1: the your band from the chit chat, your band from
- 42:22Speaker 1: the podcast, your band from the podcast. Now what unless
- 42:25Speaker 1: you're listening right now, go back and change it to
- 42:27Speaker 1: five stars and then your band? All right?
- 42:30Speaker 2: Or are you going to become a patron?
- 42:31Speaker 1: Yes?
- 42:34Speaker 2: All right?
- 42:34Speaker 1: Well stude, do you have a yelling Jesus?
- 42:36Speaker 2: Of course I have a yell need Jesus. I always
- 42:37Speaker 2: have a yell need Jesus. Okay, in honor of our trip,
- 42:41Speaker 2: Oh God, coming to us from the main stage, the
- 42:46Speaker 2: main stage. Put your hands together for Savannah. The New
- 42:50Speaker 2: York Post per Uge my go to by Jorge Fitzgibbon,
- 42:56Speaker 2: October seventeenth, twenty twenty three. Wanted man tried to throw
- 43:00Speaker 2: cops off with I don't live here signed Florida, not Florida,
- 43:09Speaker 2: not Florida. A Florida man wanted by the cops tried
- 43:13Speaker 2: to throw him off his trail by placing a big
- 43:15Speaker 2: sign outside his house reading Johnny Yates does not live here.
- 43:20Speaker 2: It did not work. Yates, forty one, who was wanted
- 43:23Speaker 2: by the Polk County Sheriff's Office on aggravated battery, false
- 43:28Speaker 2: imprisonment and tampering chargers, was eventually locked up. Deputy showed
- 43:33Speaker 2: up at Yates's Lakeland home at around two forty five
- 43:36Speaker 2: pm on Saturday after getting a tip that he was
- 43:38Speaker 2: holed up inside. When the deputies arrived, they noticed a
- 43:42Speaker 2: note written on a dry erase board in front of
- 43:45Speaker 2: a window that said Johnny Yates does not live here.
- 43:50Speaker 2: The post said, Gee, a dry erase board never lied
- 43:54Speaker 2: to us before, shouldn't Should we believe it? Deputies questioned
- 43:58Speaker 2: someone leave in the house who confirmed that Yates was inside,
- 44:03Speaker 2: but after surrounding. But after surrounding the house for an
- 44:09Speaker 2: hour and calling the fugitive to come out, Cobs had
- 44:12Speaker 2: to take it to the next level of the office.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Did they have to write it on a dry erase
- 44:16Speaker 1: board to come out?
- 44:18Speaker 2: Well? They wrote on the dry erase board. Enough was
- 44:20Speaker 2: enough and the surrender. Smoke was dispensed inside the house
- 44:25Speaker 2: and four people exited the home, but no Johnny. Deputies
- 44:29Speaker 2: called out some more, but still no response from Johnny,
- 44:32Speaker 2: so a second helping of surrender. Smoke was put inside
- 44:35Speaker 2: the home to waft around a bit.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Who were these other four idiots that didn't come out
- 44:40Speaker 1: the first time? The police were like I would been like, sorry, Johnny,
- 44:43Speaker 1: your sign didn't work. I'm leaving.
- 44:45Speaker 2: I'm out of here. You're in here by yourself. So
- 44:47Speaker 2: Johnny still didn't come out. Finally, deputies and canine unit
- 44:53Speaker 2: Dexter entered the house and located Johnny, who was hiding
- 44:57Speaker 2: in a modified chest of drawers. Johnny was arrested and
- 45:02Speaker 2: taken to jail. The office said that the four people
- 45:05Speaker 2: who were initially holding in the house with Yates were
- 45:08Speaker 2: also dealt with. In regards the four people who weren't
- 45:12Speaker 2: cooperating with deputies, each one received a parting gift, a
- 45:16Speaker 2: charge of resisting, and an all expense paid trip to
- 45:19Speaker 2: Grady Judge's bed and breakfast, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judge.
- 45:26Speaker 2: That is oh get it?
- 45:29Speaker 1: Well, you never know about Florida. It could be some sort.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Of new restaurant for criminals.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Yeah you think maybe?
- 45:38Speaker 2: Anyway, that is our yall name Jesus for the week
- 45:41Speaker 2: for this episode.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Good jobs. Do you actually had it?
- 45:44Speaker 2: I always have it?
- 45:44Speaker 1: You don't always have.
- 45:45Speaker 2: I got a girl.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, no, trust me, I'm still mad at you.
- 45:50Speaker 1: I'm just making it through for the for the for
- 45:52Speaker 1: the listeners.
- 45:53Speaker 2: You know what, they don't care. I don't care what
- 45:57Speaker 2: you gonna do, what you gonna do.
- 46:00Speaker 1: I know we got saddle myself with this man with
- 46:03Speaker 1: three children, so you know here we are. I need
- 46:05Speaker 1: someone to help me.
- 46:06Speaker 2: And you're gonna get mad because I bugged you.
- 46:08Speaker 1: Before a pip you did bug me Stewart.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Okay, is that all you got?
- 46:14Speaker 1: All right? Well, we gotta go pack again. We have
- 46:16Speaker 1: any like everything's a mess because we also had the
- 46:18Speaker 1: COVID afterwards, so that really threw everything off. We couldn't
- 46:21Speaker 1: like we like literally didn't do anything for a week.
- 46:23Speaker 1: We haven't cleaned nothing, so we got to go.
- 46:26Speaker 2: You haven't even showered.
- 46:27Speaker 1: No, I haven't. I have showers. It's I've been homes.
- 46:31Speaker 1: We we have to go pack and we gotta go
- 46:36Speaker 1: clean and then we'll be You.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Gotta wake these children up there, Charlotte too.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Yep, we got their napping right now. Well, not the
- 46:42Speaker 1: oldest one. She's watching her.
- 46:44Speaker 2: She gets hurt, she does, she does.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Yeah, we try not to give them, not because I'm
- 46:51Speaker 1: like all high and mighty on screen time, but we
- 46:52Speaker 1: like to let save screens for when we really really
- 46:55Speaker 1: need them, so they don't get their pads, their iPads
- 46:58Speaker 1: or whatever except for recording time. She gets it because
- 47:02Speaker 1: that's the only way we can get her to go
- 47:03Speaker 1: in there and like leave us alone. She also needs
- 47:06Speaker 1: some downtime, she needs to she won't take it. She
- 47:08Speaker 1: stopped taking naps. It like right when she turned two.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Who does I know our son.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Takes two and now taking a nap?
- 47:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, why can't I be any one
- 47:18Speaker 1: of these children or the cat cats they're all taking
- 47:22Speaker 1: You took a nap yesterday, Steward, and the day before.
- 47:25Speaker 2: You took a nap after I got it.
- 47:27Speaker 1: But it doesn't matter, don't Yeah, I slept in this
- 47:30Speaker 1: morning and I knew I was gonna hear about that one.
- 47:32Speaker 2: You wouldn't heard about it, and you complain about me
- 47:34Speaker 2: taking it out.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I'm saying I'm not complaining about taking the nap. I'm
- 47:37Speaker 1: not saying that you do get to take naps take it? Well, no,
- 47:40Speaker 1: not every day, but our son he's a nap. He
- 47:44Speaker 1: likes his naps.
- 47:44Speaker 2: He'll go and leave us and.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Be like go lay down and he bring me my milk,
- 47:50Speaker 1: you know. So uh, but yeah, she likes it because
- 47:53Speaker 1: on these recording days she does. It's when she gets
- 47:55Speaker 1: her pet and then other times we use it is
- 47:58Speaker 1: travel and I was surprised though we didn't have We
- 48:02Speaker 1: brought so much like Melissa and Doug, like mess free stuff.
- 48:06Speaker 1: We didn't even have to use the pads on the
- 48:09Speaker 1: flight home on the long flight. We gave them to
- 48:11Speaker 1: them on the second flight because we're like, f it,
- 48:13Speaker 1: we're almost we don't need to save these. So yeah,
- 48:17Speaker 1: it worked out perfect. But all right, well, I think
- 48:20Speaker 1: that's it. Patreon check us out if you want that
- 48:22Speaker 1: other episode of Scott Peterson.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Or that will follow it.

- 48:31Speaker 1: or just it's more for general support. We really appreciate everybody.
