- 0:04Speaker 1: The Joe Rogan Experience.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Train by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night, all day.
- 0:12Speaker 3: What's up?
- 0:13Speaker 4: What's going on? What's happening?
- 0:14Speaker 3: Chaos.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I love it.
- 0:15Speaker 4: Everything. Yeah.
- 0:17Speaker 1: The world's crazy.
- 0:18Speaker 4: Center of the storm. I think the world's back at
- 0:21war today again, like officially, right? I don't think that
- 0:27agreement with Iran lasted at all. I think there was
- 0:32bombings today in Lebanon and I think there's bombings today
- 0:37in American bases. I try to not pay attention, dude.
- 0:43I really do. I try to distract myself with science
- 0:47stuff and space. I was watching this documentary yesterday on
- 0:51how they make chips, like how they make like semiconductor chips. Dude.
- 0:58This fucking machine that they use. I'm going to send
- 1:00you this, Jamie, because it's bananas. It's like one of
- 1:02the most complex machines in the world. And this machine
- 1:08they use to make semiconductors, make chips. And they were
- 1:11explaining the process of making these chips, how fucking nuts
- 1:16it is, man. The amount of atoms that are stacked
- 1:20on and the way they do it to make these
- 1:22super complex high-end chips... There's people out there, Tony, that
- 1:28are doing things way different than us. Okay?
- 1:31Speaker 1: Sounds like it.
- 1:32Speaker 4: We're out there talking about sucking dicks and people shitting themselves.
- 1:39And what's going on in other parts of the world
- 1:42is people are doing science fiction. Like they're actually doing
- 1:46science fiction. Here it is. Give me a second. I
- 1:51like to save things. Here it is. The world's most
- 1:54important machine. The one that's an hour long? Yes. Did
- 1:59you find it? Yeah, it's an hour long. Yeah, but
- 2:02just go to the– there's some animation where they show
- 2:05how they make these things. Like it was right where
- 2:09you were at. This is right at the beginning. Okay. Oh, okay.
- 2:12So they're just showing some of the different aspects of
- 2:17how these things are made. Go back to where that
- 2:19guy had the laser beam. That's perfect actually where that
- 2:21guy had the laser beam. So this is him explaining this.
- 2:24So look at this. back it up a little bit
- 2:28and give me some volume. Can you back it up
- 2:31a little bit, please?
- 2:31Speaker 2: I want to introduce it to you with a thought experiment.
- 2:36Imagine you are shrunk down to the size of an end.
- 2:40And you're given a laser that's strong enough to melt
- 2:43through metal like butter. Next, a tiny droplet of molten tin,
- 2:47roughly the size of a white blood cell, is shot
- 2:49out in front of you around 250 kilometers per hour.
- 2:53And your task is to hit this not once, not twice,
- 2:56but three times in a row in 20 microseconds with
- 2:59your little laser. Well, that is exactly what this machine does.
- 3:03It hits one tiny tin droplet three times in a row,
- 3:06heating each one up to over 220,000 Kelvin. That's roughly
- 3:1140 times hotter than the surface of the sun. And
- 3:14it doesn't just hit one droplet. It hits 50,000 droplets
- 3:19every single second. How often do you miss a laser shot?
- 3:22Speaker 4: We don't miss them. What?
- 3:24Speaker 2: You do 150,000 laser shots a second and you don't
- 3:28miss one.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 3:31Speaker 2: The same machine also contains mirrors that might just be
- 3:34the smoothest objects in the universe. If you scale one
- 3:37up to the size of the Earth, then the largest
- 3:39bump would be no thicker than a playing card.
- 3:42Speaker 4: What the fuck?
- 3:43Speaker 1: On top of that, it is able to overlay.
- 3:44Speaker 2: One layer of a chip perfectly on top of another
- 3:46and never be off by more than five atoms. And
- 3:50this is all happening while parts of the machine whip
- 3:52around at accelerations of over 20 Gs. For 30 years,
- 3:57almost everyone thought that actually building this machine was impossible.
- 4:01Speaker 4: And yet, it exists.
- 4:03Speaker 2: There is only one company in the world that can
- 4:06make it. So, what is this company? And what is
- 4:09this impossible machine they've built? This video is.
- 4:13Speaker 4: That's it. Wow. Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 1: What are they doing with that?
- 4:17Speaker 4: All computers, like, Computer chips that are getting better and
- 4:21better and better. All these AI chips. This is how
- 4:23they make them.
- 4:24Speaker 3: One interesting thing I can just add. I know when
- 4:26they make those, they make like a big sheet of chips,
- 4:28you know? Like there'll be like 30 or 50 of them.
- 4:32They'll test each one. And the ones that are the best,
- 4:35like test out like one out of 100. The ones
- 4:38that are like closest to 100 become like the i9 chip.
- 4:41And if it's like 85 out of 100, it becomes
- 4:43like the i7 chip. So they all come off the
- 4:45same sheet. It's like the best ones become the best chips.
- 4:48They sell them for the most money. The next ones
- 4:50are just a little degraded.
- 4:52Speaker 4: No kidding. Interesting. So there was that issue with that
- 4:56Samsung chip factory. And it was about they weren't getting
- 5:00the results that they wanted. So it's probably they were
- 5:03getting more of the shitty chips and not enough of
- 5:06the perfect chips.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Yeah, they want really high-end chips.
- 5:08Speaker 4: You can smoke. We have a fan in here, dude. Yeah.
- 5:14I mean... Imagine if everybody died and it was just
- 5:19us in this room and there was like three late... Well,
- 5:22it'd be more than that. We'd have to have more people. Otherwise,
- 5:25we're going to fuck up the gene pool. We're all
- 5:26going to look like the English royals. We probably need
- 5:29a few thousand people. A few thousand people, like regular people,
- 5:33like you and I that don't know shit about how
- 5:35these things work. How much time would we need if
- 5:38we repopulated the earth with what we know? Basically, you're
- 5:42starting out like a fucking... Like a half-assed prepper, you know,
- 5:46like someone who's on an episode of Lost, you know,
- 5:49like one of those plane crash people trying to figure
- 5:51out how to survive out there. You're fucked. Oh, yeah.
- 5:53You're not inventing that. How long is it going to take?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Infinity.
- 5:58Speaker 4: And how many people have to pave the way? This
- 6:01is the thing. For every one of these people that
- 6:03makes an invention like this, you're making this on the
- 6:07back of thousands and thousands and thousands of fucking super geniuses.
- 6:12that have figured out each and every step of the
- 6:13way that can lead you to thinking, is this possible
- 6:16that we could do this next? You know, they all
- 6:18build on each other. So you need all these guys,
- 6:22and hopefully they don't get any pussy. Because otherwise they're
- 6:26going to get distracted. You know, I bet if one
- 6:29of them gets a hot wife, like one of their
- 6:31patents kicks, and they start making bank, and then all
- 6:34of a sudden he shows up for work in a Ferrari,
- 6:36and next thing you know he's got a hot wife,
- 6:38everybody's like, oh, my God. Yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Civilization just went back 200 years.
- 6:44Speaker 4: We're going to lose Tim.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Tim's taking Adderall, coding 18 hours a day, trying to
- 6:52figure out how to get us to Mars. Actually, that's
- 6:55a bad point because Elon clearly gets pussy and doesn't
- 6:58seem to be affecting him at all.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I think Elon's different.
- 7:01Speaker 4: He's definitely different.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 1: I mean, some people are different, different, different.
- 7:05Speaker 4: It's fascinating how many people want to find flaws in
- 7:09what he's doing.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Instead of just looking at this like, wow, this is
- 7:12an extraordinary time to be alive. But it's because of
- 7:15this narrative that people have. One of them, the big one,
- 7:18is this USAID is killing people narrative. That people have
- 7:22died because of USAID. And then a bunch of people
- 7:24have given examples of how them cutting the funding has
- 7:28led to the end of certain people's lives. Like when
- 7:31they were in hospitals that didn't have any funding. And
- 7:34there's a lot. That you could point to say, right,
- 7:38if they had the money, they would have had the
- 7:39funding and they would have had that equipment in place
- 7:41or maybe they wouldn't have. But here's the other thing.
- 7:44That's not discounting the fact that a lot of that
- 7:47money is fraud.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:49Speaker 4: A lot of it. Like it's not a little amount.
- 7:52And the idea that you should let it go on
- 7:55because it's going to save lives and there's a bunch
- 7:58of people that are stealing money. OK. I see that argument.
- 8:01But why? why are we sending them money in the
- 8:04first place? Did we do something to them? Do we
- 8:08owe them money? No? Okay, we're just being nice? Are
- 8:10you sure we're just being nice? Is there anybody profiting
- 8:13off of us being nice? Because usually just being nice
- 8:16for no reason and just giving tax money away for
- 8:19no reason, I don't think they do that. I don't
- 8:21think that's real. I used to think that was real.
- 8:23I used to think that charity was real. And now
- 8:25I look and I go, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 8:27This is a giant scam that's wrapped up in virtue.
- 8:30It's wrapped up in a nice cozy blanket of being
- 8:33kind and compassionate and virtuous and doing good things for
- 8:36people all around the world. I think a lot of
- 8:38people get involved in those things because that's what they think.
- 8:41We're going to do good things around the world. The
- 8:43good people, I really believe that. And then they find
- 8:46out how it really works. And then they get stuck
- 8:48in that system and then they're making their way up
- 8:50their air quotes, corporate ladder to the point where some
- 8:53of them are making a million dollars a year. And
- 8:55you're like, what is this? What is this? This is
- 8:58a business. This isn't really charity. Most of the money
- 9:01is going to your employees and your overhead. Why do
- 9:04you have such a big building? You're like, what are
- 9:06you doing? How come you're not just funneling the money
- 9:09to these people?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Like the LA fire aid. Great example. Spencer Pratt told me,
- 9:15how many, what number did he say of nonprofits got
- 9:18that money? So over $ 100 million gets raised. I don't
- 9:21know the exact total. All of it goes to these
- 9:25different nonprofits. I think he said 200 different nonprofits got
- 9:30the money. And then what happens to that? Well, they
- 9:33just pay their employees. They pay overhead. They pay their
- 9:37rent on fucking nice office on wherever they live. Fuck, man.
- 9:42It's so disheartening because you've– so that's what all that
- 9:46stuff is. And it's also– if you listen to when
- 9:49Mike Benz has been on my podcast a few times
- 9:51and explains USAID, people think of it as aid. You
- 9:55think of it as, oh, we're helping the world, which
- 9:58is great, right? But it's not that. It's the Agency
- 10:00for International Development and it involves funding rap bands overseas
- 10:07that are– the subversive rap bands that are supposed to
- 10:12excite people to take over the government. It's like a
- 10:14bunch of weird shit. It funds rebels. It funds newspapers.
- 10:20What was he talking about? There was a lot of
- 10:23it funding rap music. This is crazy. People have long
- 10:30said that rap music, even though, listen, you love hip hop.
- 10:34I know you just got back from Kanye West. I'm
- 10:36a huge hip hop fan.
- 10:37Speaker 1: We got to talk about that at some point.
- 10:38Speaker 4: We definitely do. I love hip hop. But there's some
- 10:42people that believe that gangsta rap in particular, when it
- 10:46came about in the 1980s, was a part of The
- 10:50push to popularize it and produce it was a part
- 10:54of the government, some faction of the government, some intelligence
- 10:58agencies wanting to create more crime, wanting to fill more
- 11:03private prisons, wanting to erode the fabric of society so
- 11:08they could push for more laws to keep you safer.
- 11:11This is like the– one of the most tinfoil-y of
- 11:14tinfoil hat conspiracies. But people are pointing out that right
- 11:18now it's like one of the rare times where no
- 11:20rap music is on the charts. And they're saying, well,
- 11:23how does this coincide with USAID? Was USAID like actively
- 11:28promoting rap music? Was that one of the reasons why
- 11:31rap music was so popular? Is that real? That can't
- 11:35be real.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Maybe back in the day. It seems like that would
- 11:40be more manipulative.
- 11:41Speaker 4: I believe that until I heard mumble rap. I'm like,
- 11:46this is not real. This is trying to make people stupid.
- 11:49There's something about this. And obviously some artists are better
- 11:53at it. Some of them are fun the way they
- 11:55do it. But I'm saying there's a giant chunk of
- 11:58them that are inaudible. Who's into this?
- 12:04Speaker 1: Almost all of them are inaudible.
- 12:06Speaker 4: What's going on there? Imagine if that was it. It
- 12:09was like, People heard Nas and like, this guy's too smart.
- 12:13We got to dumb it down a little. We got
- 12:15to promote some people that can barely talk. We got
- 12:18to promote some people that are on cough syrup, apparently.
- 12:21Have you ever done that cough syrup? No. They seem
- 12:24to love it. A lot of dudes who are into
- 12:26that cough syrup, man, they swear by it.
- 12:29Speaker 1: It's crazy. It's got to be fun. It's got to
- 12:32be enjoyable.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Is it codeine? Is that what they're doing?
- 12:35Speaker 1: I think so.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Have you done it, Jamie? Bro, we talked about this before,
- 12:40but I remember back in the 90s, I got a
- 12:45hold of some NyQuil. The real NyQuil. Like, I guess
- 12:49they changed the formula for NyQuil. And I had, you know, whatever,
- 12:53the flu or something. And I took some NyQuil and
- 12:55I was laying in bed and I was like, this
- 12:57is wonderful. Yeah. It was wonderful. Like, just the warmth,
- 13:02the softness of the pillows and the warmth of the
- 13:04bed with the covers over me. I'm like, oh, this
- 13:06is wonderful. And I remember thinking, ooh, this is dangerous. Oh, yeah.
- 13:12Like this is a dangerous feeling because if your life
- 13:15was shit and you found that, like that's better than
- 13:18anything else that's happening in your life. Yeah. And you
- 13:22can get it at CVS.
- 13:24Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 13:25Speaker 4: What was in the old NyQuil before they switched it?
- 13:29Speaker 1: I avoid that stuff like the plague. I'm afraid of medicine.
- 13:32Speaker 4: So this stuff probably was like sitting in my house
- 13:36if I took it. So it might have even been
- 13:38older than 97 or 98, whenever this was, and I
- 13:41was sick. But I'll never forget it because I never
- 13:44get like getting scared. Like I could love this. I
- 13:48could just drink this during the day and just like
- 13:51sit on my back porch if I have the day off.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Just get obliterated with NyQuil and just enjoy the universe.
- 13:57Speaker 1: I told you about that time I took a half
- 13:59of the pain pill that the dentist gave me for
- 14:01my wisdom tooth. I was like, oh, fuck, this is life-changing.
- 14:04Speaker 4: It says the earliest NyQuil formula include ephedrine, which is
- 14:09a decongestant, doxylamine, sucinate, which is an antihistamine, acetaminophen, dextromethylamine, methorphan,
- 14:23cough suppressant, and about 25% alcohol. Oh, I was getting
- 14:26drunk too. Wow. What changed in the mid-2000s after the
- 14:32combat methamphetamine? There it is. They removed pseudoephedrine. So was
- 14:38that the stuff? So it wasn't codeine. I think there
- 14:42is NyQuil with codeine though, right? What I had was
- 14:46pretty good. I don't think it was as simple.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you had the stuff they could make meth out
- 14:52of or whatever.
- 14:53Speaker 4: Yeah. Okay, we'll put it in perplexity. And perplexity says,
- 14:59in the mid-2000s, yeah, NyQuil brands sold in the U.S.
- 15:02do not contain codeine, and there's never been a standard
- 15:05Vicks NyQuil with codeine in its active ingredient lineup. Typical
- 15:11NyQuil form. So codeine, so does any cough syrup have
- 15:14codeine in it?
- 15:15Speaker 3: That's what lean is.
- 15:18Speaker 4: They add it? Or is it just prescription cough syrup?
- 15:21That was the whole thing about it. Maybe I am
- 15:24fucking up my memory and maybe it wasn't NyQuil. Because
- 15:27whatever it was, it seemed like.
- 15:28Speaker 3: People used to get fucked up off NyQuil. If you
- 15:30had to drink the whole bottle, you'd get NyQuil.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Just get fucked up.
- 15:33Speaker 4: I definitely didn't drink the whole bottle. I know I
- 15:35took a dose. Like a strong dose.
- 15:38Speaker 3: That means you're just getting fucked up off 25% alcohol
- 15:40and a little bit of.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 15:42Speaker 3: A little bit of side meth.
- 15:44Speaker 4: See, the thing is it's so long ago, I can't remember.
- 15:46I say NyQuil because it's like saying Q-tips. you know,
- 15:50or Kleenex just because it's tissues or ear swabs. I
- 15:53don't know if it was NyQuil, but it was cough syrup,
- 15:55whatever the fuck it was. And I felt wonderful. And
- 15:58I remember thinking like, this could be a real problem.
- 16:01Like that one day in bed, because I'm always scared
- 16:03of stuff like that. I'm always scared to get, I
- 16:05knew too many people when I was growing up that
- 16:07got hooked on stuff and it just derailed their life.
- 16:10So lying in bed, I was like, oh, you're going
- 16:11to do this again. No more of this. Right. I
- 16:15like it. Yeah. Yeah. I got a knee surgery once.
- 16:18They gave me morphine They make morphine in a drip.
- 16:22And they say that you can only hit that button
- 16:24so many times it stops giving to you.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:26Speaker 4: But every time you feel pain, you can just hit
- 16:28the button. Because I was on like a perpetual motion machine. Yeah.
- 16:31So my leg's going. And I'm just like bang, bang, bang, bang.

- 17:29Speaker 1: The closest I come to that, because I've never had
- 17:32like a serious surgery or anything, but I go to this,
- 17:34they have a dental office here in Austin called the
- 17:37Austin Dental Spa. So their whole thing is like a
- 17:41luxurious dental experience and they will hook you up to
- 17:46laughing gas and they let you like, if they're like,
- 17:49they're like, you want a little more? And I'm like, okay, yeah.
- 17:52And that's like the closest I get to it is
- 17:54once every six months or so I go there and dude,
- 17:57I'm always excited about this fucking experience.
- 18:01Speaker 4: It is so awesome. Do you ever come up with
- 18:03bits after doing laughing gas? Does it give you any ideas?
- 18:06Speaker 1: No, but during the thing, it makes me weirdly honest.
- 18:09You ever seen in Kill Bill when he shoots her
- 18:11in the knee with the honest gun? Because he was
- 18:13a chemist for like a living. It's like his secret job.
- 18:17So he comes up with this truth serum. And I've
- 18:18noticed that it makes me like weirdly very honest. So
- 18:22one time when I was in the dental office, the
- 18:24guy's doing whatever. And I'm like, And I'm jacked on
- 18:29laughing gas because you're not really like cracking up. You're
- 18:32just like in heaven and you're like kind of smiling
- 18:35ear to ear. And I remember going like, how long
- 18:38did you go to school for dental school? And he's like,
- 18:41whatever the answer is, like eight years. And I'm like,
- 18:43did you ever think about going longer and becoming a
- 18:45real doctor? And I realized like kind of in the moment,
- 18:49even though I was fucked up, like that sounds mean.
- 18:52But I think they're totally used to it. I think
- 18:54they know that laughing gas makes people fucking.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I bet they're not used to that, dude. That's so mean.
- 18:58Speaker 1: That's not supposed to... That's what I'm saying. It's like
- 19:02a dangerously... A real doctor. A dangerous truth serum.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Some people want to be dentists. Yeah. We need them, too. Yeah.
- 19:10You know?
- 19:11Speaker 1: Crazy gig.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 1: It's a weird one.
- 19:14Speaker 4: I know. You might show us bad breath they smell.
- 19:17Speaker 1: And just weird things lodged in teeth for God only
- 19:20knows how long.
- 19:21Speaker 4: When I got my root canal, one of the reasons
- 19:24why I had to get it is because I had
- 19:26a cap on my tooth or a filler, whatever it is.
- 19:30What's it called? No, when they just fill your tooth up.
- 19:35Why can't I remember? Fillings. Why did I say filler? Whatever. Yeah.
- 19:40It was an old school one. It was like white plastic.
- 19:43And when I was a kid, I used to have them.
- 19:44They were like fucking lead. They used to give you
- 19:46lead fillings, which is crazy. Like kids had lead in there. mouth.
- 19:52And it was hurting. It was bothering me. So what
- 19:54had happened was I had cracked the tooth and it
- 19:58had gotten infected underneath the filling. So he takes the
- 20:02filling out and drills into it. And the smell that
- 20:07came out of my mouth. It was pus. All this
- 20:11pus came out and this fucking horrific smell. I was like, oh,
- 20:16my God. Is that coming out of my mouth? Yeah.
- 20:19He's like, oh, that's normal. It's decay. Right. There's an
- 20:22infection under here. We're going to treat it. You're going
- 20:24to be fine. Yeah.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Piece of elk from seven years ago.
- 20:27Speaker 4: This is a long time ago. This is a long
- 20:29time ago. It was before I was hunting, I think.
- 20:31But it was, you know, people die from that stuff,
- 20:34which is really crazy. Like, if you don't take care
- 20:36of your teeth and you get that kind of infection.
- 20:39Those kind of infections can become septic.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Yeah, well, it's nuts. Sometimes I'll do a thing where
- 20:45I'll water floss after I brush my teeth just to
- 20:48see what would have been left in there if I
- 20:51just did what normal humans do.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Because I'm one of those.
- 20:54Speaker 1: High pressure water flossers that I fucking love. Complete game
- 20:57changer for life. And it's insane what will jet out
- 21:01of there. We get stuck deep in between the teeth
- 21:04and everything and For the most part, I do it
- 21:08before I brush, but every once in a while I'll
- 21:09be like, I wonder if there's anything left in there. Yeah,
- 21:13you have to floss. You're going to get a bunch
- 21:15of shit stuck in there. And even then, sometimes I'll
- 21:18regular floss and then brush my teeth and just out
- 21:20of curiosity go, I wonder if there's anything left in there.
- 21:23And I'll do a one silver with the water flosser
- 21:25and you see like, ding, ding, ding, three little things
- 21:27come out. And it's like, that would have marinated in
- 21:30between my teeth or in the back of my gum
- 21:32line or whatever.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not good. But according to my dentist, he
- 21:36thinks it's all sugar. He thinks if you go back
- 21:39and you look at like when people started developing serious cavities, it's,
- 21:43I mean, people have always had abscesses and broken teeth
- 21:47and there's always been like dental problems that haunted people
- 21:51because back in the day man they just pull the
- 21:53tooth out and then who knows what kind of infection
- 21:55you still have in there and they don't treat it
- 21:58in the 1700s if you broke your tooth and got
- 22:00an infection you could be fucking dead you know you
- 22:02could die from that shit but he was saying that
- 22:04the the amount of cavities like steeply increased when people
- 22:09started putting sugar in everything and then kids started drinking
- 22:12sugary sodas and eating sugary candy and And that stuff
- 22:15gets stuck in your teeth. It's like I think that's
- 22:17the cause of it. Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 1: And probably high fructose corn syrup is probably just as
- 22:21bad or if not worse than actual sugar.
- 22:23Speaker 4: That stuff is not good for your body. That's for sure.
- 22:26Your body doesn't like it. Someone explained to me what's
- 22:29the difference in the absorption of high fructose corn syrup
- 22:31versus natural cane sugar. I completely forget how they explained it.
- 22:35But they were basically saying that there's some issues with
- 22:38how the body breaks it down. When you drink a soda,
- 22:42just think about that. We're in nature. Do you get
- 22:4420 grams of sugar just in liquid form and you
- 22:48just pump it down? Glug, glug, glug, glug, glug, glug. Ah, refreshing.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Crazy. My buddy that I went to school with just
- 22:56flew in from Hawaii, which is where he's lived for
- 22:59like 20 years. He's like a wilderness guy. Climbs trees
- 23:03and cuts down his own pineapples and coconuts and stuff
- 23:06all the time. He's got a great life. And he
- 23:11checked a bag this trip just a few days ago.
- 23:14And he brought it to the mothership because that's where
- 23:16we met up. And he surprised me with this checked
- 23:18bag that had the moldings built in and everything. It
- 23:22had four coconuts and two white Hawaiian pineapples, I think
- 23:26they're called, which run like $ 65 each or something in
- 23:30the U.S. It's impossible to get. And according to him,
- 23:35I don't know. He's a real hippy dippy type.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Is that the dude that you brought to the mothership? Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Anthony.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Yeah. Your friend from high school.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Yep.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Which is crazy.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Yeah. He's the man. He's just a real dude.
- 23:45Speaker 4: It's crazy when you know people for that long. Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:48And so this dude is just living in Hawaii, living
- 23:50his best life.
- 23:51Speaker 1: And I mean, holy shit. These fucking pineapple. He's like, dude,
- 23:55you're going to love this pineapple, pineapple, pineapple. He just
- 23:58kept going on about it. I'm like, all right, okay.
- 24:00Sure enough, holy fucking shit, man. It's nature can deliver
- 24:04you a sugar dose. Because he was saying that white
- 24:08Hawaiian pineapples have higher sugar but much lower acidity than
- 24:12what we're used to. So it makes a whole different,
- 24:14and since obviously it's natural sugar and this and that,
- 24:17it just makes a whole different type of fucking fruit.
- 24:20Speaker 4: It's crazy. Sounds good.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Wild how we have to go other places to get
- 24:25unbelievable shit.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Well, of course, Hawaii. Yeah. Hawaii really should be its
- 24:29own country. Listen, I love Hawaii. I'm glad they're protected
- 24:33by the United States. People are cool as fuck. It
- 24:36should be its own country. It's five hours by plane.
- 24:38I mean, come on, man. White pineapples, primarily known as
- 24:43sugar loaf or white jade pineapples. Highly prized, rare variety
- 24:48grown in Hawaii. Unlike standard yellow, they feature creamy white flesh,
- 24:52practically no acidity, and a completely edible core.
- 24:57Speaker 1: It was great. And fucking he climbs a goddamn tree
- 25:01like a little fucking monkey boy. Normal little white dude.
- 25:05Speaker 4: How did he wind up in Hawaii?
- 25:08Speaker 1: He's a real free spirit. He always was. I think
- 25:11he just went out there, visited and stayed. He's the
- 25:14kind of guy that just gets a one way ticket
- 25:16places and figures it out as he goes. He's in
- 25:18Youngstown right now. That shows you how adventurous and crazy
- 25:21he is. He's like, I'm going to spend a week
- 25:23and a half there. I'm like a week and a
- 25:25half in Youngstown.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Why is he doing that?
- 25:28Speaker 1: Visit family and friends.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Is there a good hotel to stay at?
- 25:34Speaker 1: And I even had to look this up recently because
- 25:36I'm like, I'm not staying at the crazy hotel that
- 25:38I stayed at last time I was there. So I'm
- 25:41like best hotel in Youngstown. And the funniest thing is
- 25:44the actual closest option was in Pennsylvania, like 50 minutes away.
- 25:50I mean, there's one like double tree downtown, but it's
- 25:53in an area of Absolute chaos. I mean, just death wish.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Do you ever go back there and go, I can't
- 26:01believe I grew up here? Always.
- 26:02Speaker 1: 100% of the time. I got a feeling for it
- 26:05immediately when I went to L.A. and I didn't hear
- 26:08police sirens anymore. Like, as often, at least. You know
- 26:12what I mean?
- 26:13Speaker 4: Isn't that funny? Like, L.A. with L.A. 's crime.
- 26:16Speaker 1: That's what I always thought. I'm like, oh, this is
- 26:18going to be crazy. I've heard these Tupac songs. Like,
- 26:20this is going to be nuts.
- 26:22Speaker 4: That was USAID.
- 26:24Speaker 1: So peaceful.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 26:27Speaker 1: So peaceful. In Youngstown, at least when I was growing
- 26:30up there, you could hear a police siren or an
- 26:32ambulance siren almost at any point of the day.
- 26:35Speaker 5: God.
- 26:37Speaker 1: My buddy sent me a shirt recently, too. Another buddy
- 26:41that has the stats on it of us being the
- 26:44murder capital. I think it was 90, 91, and 96
- 26:48per capita. Not the biggest population. But per capita, it
- 26:54was the most dangerous place you could be. When I
- 26:57was in those most developmental years when a kid shouldn't
- 27:00be having his head next to the window. Yeah, there
- 27:03it is. I got that shirt.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Wow.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Four-time defending champion, murder capital of America.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Wow. Yep.
- 27:11Speaker 1: In 01, 02, that puts me as a sophomore and
- 27:14junior in high school.
- 27:15Speaker 4: 95, 97, I'm 11, 12.
- 27:16Speaker 1: And you're being raised by your mom.
- 27:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:20Speaker 1: On the north, on the craziest fucking area of the
- 27:25whole goddamn thing. The most dilapidated part of the north
- 27:28side of Youngstown.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Wow. Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I can't believe it. That's why, like, every part of
- 27:36my fucking story, I'm like, this is so goddamn weird.
- 27:40So weird.
- 27:41Speaker 4: It is when you think about it, right? When you
- 27:43really stop and think about it, it doesn't seem real.
- 27:4560 years ago, this Ohio city was named Crimetown, USA. Yeah.
- 27:49Crime Town. 75 bombings. Yep. Oh, this was the mob days.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:54Speaker 4: So it used to be a mob run town, right? Totally.
- 27:58They were called Bomb Town?
- 27:59Speaker 1: Yeah. A Youngstown tune-up is a car bomb.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Look at this. 75 bombings, 11 killings in a decade,
- 28:08and no one seems to care.
- 28:09Speaker 1: They were so nuts in Youngstown that somebody tried to
- 28:13kill the actual prosecutor, the actual D.A.
- 28:18Speaker 4: Isn't that normal? Do they always try to do that?
- 28:20Speaker 1: Well, it's kind of the stupidest, craziest thing you could
- 28:23do because then the entire FBI comes down on you.
- 28:27It's a little short-sighted to go, we're going to kill
- 28:30the main cop of this city and not think that
- 28:33anything's going to happen from that. Well, we beat the game.
- 28:36We beat the main cop.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Imagine trying to be an intelligent businessman and also a
- 28:41mob leader. Imagine playing things out in advance, but also
- 28:46you're a mob leader.
- 28:47Speaker 1: There was a lot of that going on and I
- 28:50got to see quite a bit of it. Like there were, uh,
- 28:54let's put it this way, mall developers in Youngstown and
- 28:57things like that. And I got to see firsthand, very
- 29:00young that they were communicating with politicians at lunchtime and stuff,
- 29:05because I was working at this little Italian restaurant at
- 29:08the time, right out of high school. And, um, and
- 29:13They were having these quiet meetups in a quiet, in
- 29:16the corner of a quiet Italian restaurant. And you would
- 29:19see these huge moguls, you know, I won't name any names,
- 29:23but big business people in Youngstown meeting with the local
- 29:26this and that and congressmen. I got to meet that
- 29:29congressman and that congressman because they're there meeting with these
- 29:31super duper rich people. And I'm like, I wonder what
- 29:33the correlation is there.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Bro, back then when there was no cell phones.
- 29:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Know they had to bug people they have to they
- 29:42had to literally bug businesses to get information like they
- 29:46were all doing something oh yeah you couldn't be involved
- 29:49in any big time business if you weren't down with
- 29:52the teamsters if you weren't down with the longshoremen you
- 29:55had a you had a We've got to work this out, Bobby.
- 29:59We're businessmen. That's how you do the business.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Give a little money to their campaign. Not a little,
- 30:06but a bit. And then you can get your stuff
- 30:09passed and make life easier down the road.
- 30:11Speaker 4: Dude, I had friends that had no-show jobs. Wow. Yeah.
- 30:16I had a friend of mine that had a no-show
- 30:17job in New York at the Javits Center. You know,
- 30:21the Javits Center is like a big convention center. He
- 30:24had a union no-show job. Wow. So he's a mob guy.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 4: And they just gave him money.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I only saw that on The Sopranos. They had those
- 30:33no-show construction jobs. They're sitting there with their portable fans.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Yeah. No, that's real, dude. That is a real thing. Yeah.
- 30:41They get a certain amount of jobs. They would make agreements.
- 30:45The union would make an agreement. We get a certain
- 30:47amount of these jobs. It's like, you know.
- 30:50Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 30:51Speaker 4: There's really 100 jobs, but we want 130.
- 30:55Speaker 5: 130.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Youngstown was a haven for organized crime. Related corruption was
- 31:02ingrained into the fabric of its society. A 2000 publication,
- 31:05New Republic, listed a chief of police, the outgoing prosecutor,
- 31:08the sheriff, the county engineer, members of the local police force,
- 31:12a city law director, several defense attorneys, politicians, judges, and
- 31:16a former assistant U.S. attorney as controlled by the mob.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So if they have that, if they found that for sure,
- 31:26imagine how many others there are.
- 31:28Speaker 4: Right. That's everybody. That's everybody. The prosecutor, the sheriff, the
- 31:32county engineer, the police force, city law director, defense attorney.
- 31:36Imagine not being down with the mob. Do you want
- 31:39to stay alive? Do you want to work in this business? Right.
- 31:42Speaker 1: And this is a city. I think we looked it
- 31:44up the other day, actually. I think it only has 25,000
- 31:46white people. So knowing that black people tend to not
- 31:51be in the Italian mob, just going off of 25,000,
- 31:56and that's current. I don't know what it was back
- 31:58in the day. But the point is, it's like, it's
- 32:01not a big city. It's not. I think 50,000, 60,000,
- 32:06half or less white. There's Tony.
- 32:10Speaker 4: Yeah. There's little Tony watching pro wrestling. Oh, yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Pro wrestling and even then i was obsessed with goodfellas
- 32:17and a bronx tale and a godfather because it's like
- 32:20it's just what you're taught is humanity like that's life
- 32:24yeah so getting out of that and going to la
- 32:28and thinking it was going to be all it's going
- 32:30to be crazy gangs and stuff and it's just quiet
- 32:33granted i started in burbank which is a fucking television
- 32:36studio essentially but When I moved.
- 32:38Speaker 4: To New Jersey and I didn't have any money, when
- 32:40I first moved to New York, I couldn't afford to
- 32:42live in New York City. Or I didn't even have
- 32:45an apartment. I stayed with my grandparents because my grandfather
- 32:48lived in New Jersey, in Newark. And he bought a
- 32:52house there in– I think it was like the 1940s.
- 32:56And they did a thing called blockbusting. Do you know
- 32:58what blockbusting is? They would go door to door and
- 33:01they would say black people are moving to the neighborhood.
- 33:02You got to sell now. And everybody sold. It used
- 33:04to be an entirely Italian neighborhood. And he was like,
- 33:08I like black people. Get the fuck out of here.
- 33:09And he kept his house. But it was like one
- 33:11of very few families that stayed. And then black people
- 33:15moved out. And then they started getting like different people,
- 33:19Spanish-speaking people, like Dominicans and a bunch of other. And
- 33:23that's how it was when I stayed with them. So
- 33:26this is like 91. Yeah. I was three years into comedy.
- 33:32So it's probably 91. And while I was living with him,
- 33:35the next door neighbor's house got broken into by the cops.
- 33:38The DEA smashed down his door. The dude had an
- 33:40Audi parked in the driveway. He was selling crack. Like
- 33:43right next door to my grandpa. Wow. The whole neighborhood
- 33:46was just nuts, dude. Like he would get really nervous
- 33:48when I would leave. Like I would leave to go
- 33:50play pool somewhere. And he'd be like, be careful. Like
- 33:52it was fucking sketchy. Yeah. But it didn't used to be.
- 33:58Like when he first moved there, it was just an
- 34:01all-Italian neighborhood.
- 34:03Speaker 5: Yep.
- 34:04Speaker 4: Real estate people, even back then, like what a dirty
- 34:06thing to do. Scare people into moving. That's probably the
- 34:10first project of USAID. That's probably. Yeah. They probably got
- 34:16real estate people to destroy neighborhoods.
- 34:19Speaker 1: There's something to it. I don't know the correlation of
- 34:21Italian neighborhoods being taken over, not taken over, but whatever,
- 34:27by black people. Like mob run cities like Youngstown, like Chicago,
- 34:32like Detroit. it's an interesting anomaly. I wonder if there's
- 34:38any correlation between the things.
- 34:40Speaker 4: Well, you know, most of the Italians that came in
- 34:43the early 20th century were very poor. You know, they
- 34:47were all coming over here for labor or jobs and
- 34:49things along those lines. And, you know, when they started
- 34:54doing better, they started moving out and moving into the
- 34:57suburbs and moving into more gentrified areas. It's always... What
- 35:03are the new immigrants that are going to come and
- 35:05take over this area that was like formerly a low-income
- 35:08Italian neighborhood or a low-income Irish neighborhood? It's the same thing.
- 35:12Like there's cycles. It's like there's cycles in fighting too.
- 35:17Like in the early 20th century, there's a lot of
- 35:20Jewish fighters like Slappy, Maxie Rosenblum. You never heard of him, right?
- 35:25Very good Jewish fighters because they were poor. And they
- 35:29were the new immigrants. And this is like before World
- 35:33War II. And then in– and even afterwards there was some.
- 35:38But then you get Italians. You get a lot of Italians.
- 35:40You get Rocky Marciano, Rocky Graziano. There's a lot of
- 35:44like Jake LaMotta. There's a lot of these like Italian
- 35:47bad motherfuckers because they were poor. And then what happened?
- 35:51Then you got a lot of Puerto Ricans, a lot
- 35:54of– it's always like who's the new immigrants.
- 35:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 35:57Speaker 4: And who are the most hungry, come from the most
- 36:00poverty-ridden areas. Like, Roberto Duran came from a terrible part
- 36:04of Panama. Like, not terrible, but, I mean, like, very poor,
- 36:07very violent. Yeah. And he was one of the baddest
- 36:10motherfuckers of all time.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Boom Boom Mancini was right down the street.
- 36:12Speaker 4: Yep. Yeah. I mean, Youngstown's known for boxing. Yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Kelly Pavlik.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Kelly Pavlik, who's been on the podcast. He's awesome.
- 36:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:22Speaker 4: He was a beast, dude.
- 36:24Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 36:25Speaker 1: That fight with him and Jermaine Taylor.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Holy shit.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Sometimes I still rewatch the end of that.
- 36:30Speaker 4: How did he survive?
- 36:31Speaker 1: Give me a burst of energy.
- 36:33Speaker 4: I mean, how did he make it through? That was
- 36:36a crazy. I mean, he got dropped. He looks like
- 36:39the fight was over. And then when he's got him
- 36:41in the corner and he rocks him. And you go,
- 36:44no way. He's coming back. This is crazy. Did you
- 36:48watch the fights this weekend? Jaron Boots Ennis. And I
- 36:51forget the dude who's fighting.
- 36:53Speaker 1: No, I was at that concert. I missed it.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Boots is very good, and for the most part, he
- 36:58beat his ass. But the third round, he got rocked.
- 37:01The third round was incredible because the kid he was fighting,
- 37:04who's the gentleman that he was fighting, Jamie? Xander Zayas. Zayas, yeah.
- 37:08Young kid. He got dropped in the second round, like
- 37:12pretty bad. Boots is very good. He's like one of
- 37:14the best boxers alive. And then the third round, the
- 37:17kid came back and rocked Boots, and it was just
- 37:19a war. Just the third round was incredible. Boots wound
- 37:22up stopping him. I think he stopped him in like.
- 37:25The seventh or the eighth round, he just dropped him
- 37:28one last time, and the corner called it. It was enough. Like,
- 37:32he was getting his ass kicked. But he was very,
- 37:34very valiant, you know. It was a really good fight. Like,
- 37:37Boots is better than him, like, clearly. He's on another level.
- 37:40But this kid showed just tremendous heart. But it's like
- 37:43that third round was just coming back from getting dropped
- 37:47in the second. Like, those kind of moments where a
- 37:49guy's getting fucked up, like the Gaethje-Deporia fight. Perfect example, right?
- 37:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:55Speaker 1: That's when it's really a fight.
- 37:57Speaker 4: A real fight.
- 37:58Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Because Toporia was on him in that second round. Oh, man.
- 38:04Speaker 1: We were so close. They were in. Oh, you could
- 38:06hear it. Oh, you could feel it. Where I was, man. And,
- 38:11you know, obviously we're always close to the cage on
- 38:14those things. But when Toporia was landing those body shots,
- 38:20it was right against our side of the fence. And
- 38:23I'm literally like, oh. I mean, holy fucking shit, man.
- 38:28And I've seen a lot of people get ripped to
- 38:29the body before, but there is something about his close
- 38:32range strength in near that clinch, that close up fucking
- 38:37range of Ilya that is scary.
- 38:40Speaker 4: He's so good, dude. He's so good. And he's so precise.
- 38:45He just tried to like Chael. I always repeat this
- 38:48because Chael Sonnen said it was perfect. If you try
- 38:50to win by knockout and fail, you won't win a decision.
- 38:55And sometimes you just run out of gas because, like,
- 38:58you're not supposed to fight like that if you think
- 39:00that the fight's going to go five rounds. Like, Ilya
- 39:02had him hurt, and he's like, I can take him out.
- 39:05But Justin's so durable, man. He's so durable. And that
- 39:10left hook to the body, the sound of it, man,
- 39:13is just whip. It's so perfect. He throws perfect punches.
- 39:17His punches are just, I mean, even Justin said it
- 39:21in the post-fight interview. Like, when he's fresh, his skills
- 39:24are unmatched. That's a crazy thing to say to a
- 39:26guy who just beat up and made stop. He stopped
- 39:29him in the fourth round. That's crazy to say. His
- 39:32skills are unmatched, but they really are.
- 39:36Speaker 1: At every point of that, anybody I think that knows
- 39:39anything about those two fighters is going, until this is stopped,
- 39:44anybody can win this. Even when his face was blown
- 39:49up and his eyes looked black and closed, until that
- 39:54air horn rings, I'm like, anything. One punch. And we've
- 39:58seen it. Even with Gaethje, you saw it with Holloway, right?
- 40:02Was it him? Who did he square up with in
- 40:03the middle?
- 40:04Speaker 4: Yes. Holloway, yeah. Max hit him with that final punch.
- 40:07Speaker 1: One chin, with one second left, it can all be over.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Yeah, that was a little different in that Holloway caught
- 40:16him with a jump spinning back kick to the face
- 40:19in the very last seconds of the first round and
- 40:21broke the bone of his nose. We talked about it
- 40:25on the podcast. And I was like, that changed that fight.
- 40:27Because before that, Gaethje was pressing him and it looked
- 40:31very competitive. And it looked like maybe Gaethje had a
- 40:34slight advantage. But that's because Max... Max is a very
- 40:39clever fighter. He's always switching stances and moving and really
- 40:43hadn't showed that spinning back kick a lot. That hadn't
- 40:45been a feature in a lot of his fights. He
- 40:47did it a few times, but for him to land
- 40:50it that way, backing up, jump to the face, I mean,
- 40:53it was perfect. It was perfect. And his nose was fucked.
- 40:57And if you're fighting with a broken bone on your face,
- 41:00every time you're getting hit, you're getting just blasted. The
- 41:04pain is insane. And then, you know, he had, you know,
- 41:09he was a step behind Max. Max was teeing off
- 41:11on him. He landed some good shots, though, even though
- 41:14it was a good fight. I mean, Max was definitely
- 41:16ahead in the fifth round, but it was a good fight.
- 41:20And then, you know, during that wild exchange, he should
- 41:23have never done that.
- 41:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 4: He was already fading, whereas Max was still very fresh.
- 41:29Fucking crazy fight, man. That was a crazy fight.
- 41:32Speaker 1: I think Topuria's nose was broken and Round two, I think.
- 41:37It was pretty early on. Hard to say.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Yeah. You know, but Justin did clip him with a
- 41:42bunch of those uppercuts. So Justin does this thing where
- 41:46he like collar ties you and then throws an uppercut
- 41:49in tight and he's really good at it. He's really
- 41:51good at like turning you a little and then throwing
- 41:53an uppercut in these exchanges. He collar ties and uppercuts.
- 41:57He caught him a few times, and you just get
- 41:59one of those on the fucking nose, on the old schnozzle.
- 42:02This thing's so brittle. Yeah. It's such a, if you
- 42:05feel your nose, just feel it. Have you ever seen
- 42:08Merab's nose? The x-ray of Merab's nose? You've never seen it?
- 42:13Speaker 1: Uh-uh.
- 42:13Speaker 4: I sent it to you, right, Jamie? Jamie will find it.
- 42:16Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Look at what it looks like. Oh, my God. Look
- 42:20at that. Oh, fuck. Bro. That thing is destroyed. I mean,
- 42:26it's destroyed. He's getting zero air out of that. He's
- 42:29got the best cardio on planet Earth, and he's getting
- 42:32zero air out of his nose.
- 42:33Speaker 5: Wow.
- 42:34Speaker 4: But he won't get it fixed. Because if he gets
- 42:36it fixed, he can't fight for like a year. And
- 42:39he just wants to keep on trucking.
- 42:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:44Speaker 1: That dude's a freak.
- 42:45Speaker 4: If I was his friend, I would say, dude, you
- 42:47got a lot of money. You're a world champion. Fix
- 42:50the nose. Let's fix it. Let's take a year off.
- 42:52Come back and fuck these motherfuckers up. Because if that
- 42:55guy's got a fixed nose, he's got 10% more cardio.
- 42:58Are you crazy? That guy with 10% more cardio, that's
- 43:01an extra weapon. I would get it fixed. But the
- 43:05problem is if he gets it fixed and then he
- 43:07fights a guy like Holloway and he gets jumped and
- 43:09spinning back kicked to the nose in the first round
- 43:11and shattered again, then he's kind of fucked. Because if
- 43:15they have to fix it again, then they might have
- 43:16to start taking pieces of your rib out and reconstructing
- 43:20your nose and grafting bone and doing weird shit. And
- 43:24then sometimes that shit doesn't take. And sometimes it gets infected.
- 43:28And then you have a bone infection on your face.
- 43:31And what do they do then? Do they have to
- 43:32remove your nose? Is that what they have to do? Fuck. God.
- 43:36Scary shit, man.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Very much so.
- 43:38Speaker 4: These fucking dudes, man. That is a crazy job to
- 43:42risk your life, risk your health, risk your bones. You're
- 43:46making a living by trying to damage another person who's
- 43:49trying to damage you. Nuts. But it's also why it's
- 43:53the most exciting shit in the world to watch. Exactly.
- 43:56So exciting. Yeah. Even boxing as, you know, tamed in
- 44:02comparison to MMA because there's less weapons and less options.
- 44:05Speaker 1: A lot more padding.
- 44:07Speaker 4: Yeah. You don't get the chokeouts, the crazy chokeouts. There
- 44:11was a crazy chokeout this weekend. His name is Ruzaboyev
- 44:15and he fought, God, how do I say his last name?
- 44:19He fought this Russian cat and got him, Russian or Ukrainian?
- 44:22Speaker 5: Russian.
- 44:23Speaker 4: I forget. But he got him in a rear naked
- 44:25choke and put him to sleep. And it was one
- 44:27of those ones where the guy looks dead. He's like
- 44:29lying there. I mean, it was a fucking nasty choke, man.
- 44:32And yeah. Oh, yeah. I saw that. It was dark, dude.
- 44:38Speaker 1: It's another meme out this week along with the WMB
- 44:40girl pointing.
- 44:41Speaker 4: That's his name. Bro, it was nuts.
- 44:45Speaker 1: The memes on these things are nuts nowadays.
- 44:48Speaker 4: The internet is undefeated.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Oh, it's crazy.
- 44:50Speaker 4: They're so good at memes.
- 44:50Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 44:51Speaker 4: There's so many people out there working jobs that they hate,
- 44:54that are smart and funny.
- 44:58Speaker 1: We were talking about it the other day, but have
- 45:00you caught up with any of those WNBA, what's her name,
- 45:03the girl that's pointing?
- 45:04Speaker 4: Sophie Cunningham.
- 45:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been paying attention very little, but one of
- 45:08the things that I did watch is all the fouls. Like,
- 45:17these bitches throw each other to the ground. And they
- 45:21poke each other in the eyes. Like, they do this.
- 45:24They literally jab each other in the eyes. It's crazy. Like,
- 45:28they foul. And also, they travel so much.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Oh, it's crazy.
- 45:32Speaker 4: They take, like, four or five steps, and then no
- 45:34one calls them on it. Oh, yeah.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Double dribble.
- 45:38Speaker 4: Is there a trend now to not call traveling?
- 45:42Speaker 1: Yes, without a doubt. In the actual NBA, it's a thing, too. Yeah.
- 45:47Speaker 3: It's hard to get into this without going way into
- 45:50the weeds, but the NBA has a technically different rule
- 45:53than college and high school and everyone else. They call
- 45:56it a gather step, and they definitely would call it
- 45:58in high school. But they work all day manipulating it
- 46:02with the referee, watching them, saying, like, you can do that,
- 46:04but you can't do that. You can do this, but
- 46:06you can't do that. And so they've got it to
- 46:08a place where everything they're doing looks like traveling and
- 46:11double dribbles, but guys will break it down in slow-mo,
- 46:13and you'll be like, well, technically it's not.
- 46:15Speaker 4: That's weird. I always thought if you took a step,
- 46:18you had to bounce the ball.
- 46:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:20Speaker 4: That's how it should be.
- 46:21Speaker 1: You're allowed to.
- 46:22Speaker 4: But doesn't it seem like that should be how it is? Totally.
- 46:25When you see guys taking four steps, you're like, what's
- 46:27going on? Do you want to see exciting basketball or not? Yeah.
- 46:31I do. All right.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Well, then let the referees call the game how they
- 46:34call it.
- 46:35Speaker 4: But I think there's something exciting about you having to
- 46:37bounce that ball because you won't be able to score
- 46:39as much.
- 46:40Speaker 5: Right?
- 46:40Speaker 4: Right.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Correct.
- 46:42Speaker 4: If you have to bounce it every two steps, whatever
- 46:45it is.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I wish I loved the NBA like I did when
- 46:47I was a kid and fucking Barkley and Jordan and
- 46:51Ewing and all these people were physical. It is just
- 46:54a whole different game now.
- 46:56Speaker 4: So back then, was it traveling like when the Larry
- 47:00Bird days?
- 47:01Speaker 1: Hell yeah. Unless Jordan talked to the ref and said, yo,
- 47:04you're wrong. Let me do what I want.
- 47:06Speaker 4: Jordan had the cheat code where he would leap from
- 47:08the fucking free throw line. That is so when I've
- 47:12watched videos that it doesn't even look real. He was
- 47:16such an amazing athlete. He was so good and so
- 47:19possessed by his desire to win. He would do things
- 47:23that you would just go, how does a person fly? Dude,
- 47:28imagine if he was like one of those jumpers, those
- 47:31long distance jumpers. He'd probably have an insane jump because
- 47:35he's going from the free throw line in the air.
- 47:38That's crazy.
- 47:39Speaker 1: Everything he did was crazy. The way he did things,
- 47:43the way he practiced everything.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and did he not make his college team? No.
- 47:49High school team?
- 47:50Speaker 7: No.
- 47:50Speaker 4: Wasn't there like one year?
- 47:52Speaker 3: When he was a freshman, he didn't make the varsity team.
- 47:54Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. Yeah, most freshmen don't.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Perfect. May have changed basketball history forever.
- 48:01Speaker 4: Most freshmen don't. That doesn't make sense because they're not
- 48:03even developed yet. Yeah, if you're playing varsity. I know
- 48:05kids in Texas that keep their kids back a year. Wow.
- 48:09They want their kid to be bigger. I want Billy
- 48:11to be the biggest freshman. I want him to be
- 48:14a 15-year-old freshman. We're pushing for right before his 15th birthday. Like, hey,
- 48:1815 is a sophomore. Billy's a fucking cheater. Why are
- 48:22you sandbagging Billy? That doesn't bother me nearly as much
- 48:27in a sport like football where I see what you're doing.
- 48:30Like you're preparing a kid for a professional future perhaps,
- 48:34especially in Texas. They're very into it down here. But
- 48:36if it's a wrestling, it's like, hey.
- 48:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 4: Hey, there's fucking no money in this. Right. And that
- 48:42kid's 16 and he's in the ninth grade. Yeah.
- 48:45Speaker 5: Yeah. It's nuts.
- 48:49Speaker 4: How old is the oldest that a kid can be
- 48:51and compete in high school sports? Jamie? Please put that
- 48:58into our sponsor, Perplexity. Let's find out. I wonder if
- 49:01it varies by sport.
- 49:03Speaker 3: Definitely by sport and by state.
- 49:06Speaker 5: Interesting.
- 49:06Speaker 4: Interesting. Do they all have a cap at 18? Or
- 49:11do they allow you to compete at 19? Yeah, there's
- 49:13going to be a.
- 49:13Speaker 3: But before I even hit enter, I know it's going
- 49:15to say something about, like, your graduating class can't be
- 49:19out maybe more than... like two years or something like
- 49:21that because you got held back or you had an
- 49:23injury or something like that.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Boy, I remember from my days of being like 17
- 49:28and 18, the difference between 17 and 19 was huge. Oh, yeah.
- 49:32It's a big difference. Fuck, yeah. By the time you're 19,
- 49:35you're basically man strength. You know, 17, I was like
- 49:39a boy still.
- 49:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:40Speaker 4: You know, like, I was flimsy. 17, I was like
- 49:44a flimsy kid. By the time I was 19, it's
- 49:46a different animal. You've got two more years of training
- 49:49and testosterone in you. Yeah. If you're a wrestler, that's
- 49:52got to be a huge advantage.
- 49:56Speaker 1: Everything in wrestling is a huge advantage. Starting one year
- 49:59earlier is huge.
- 50:00Speaker 3: Huge huge advantage yeah 19 based off of certain.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Oh bro that's so rude making 19 year olds wrestle
- 50:07against like possibly 15 year olds is crazy right so
- 50:11if you are like in a certain weight class that's
- 50:14not strong like i wasn't a good wrestler i was
- 50:17a pretty good wrestler but i started i was on
- 50:19the varsity team at my high school and uh Like
- 50:23one year I didn't even cut weight or one weight
- 50:26class I didn't cut. There was a guy that was
- 50:28below me at like 126 or 128, and he was
- 50:32better than me. And so the next available weight class
- 50:35was 134, which is– that's what I normally weighed when
- 50:38I was 15. So I just wrestled at 134. That's lovely. Yeah.
- 50:42But I could have been in there with a 19-year-old
- 50:45fucking animal who weighs $ 1. 60– And drives himself out briefly
- 50:50to hit 134. And there was guys like that, man.
- 50:53You would see them at like the States. And you go,
- 50:55what the fuck? Yeah. And they were going to camps.
- 50:58So they were wrestling 365 days a year. All year long.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 51:02Speaker 4: I just started. I didn't know anything.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Same. I started as a freshman in high school and
- 51:06got fucked up.
- 51:08Speaker 4: I didn't even start as a freshman. I started as
- 51:09a sophomore. I started as a sophomore because some kid
- 51:13kicked my ass in the locker room. Some kid grabbed
- 51:15me in a headlock and threw me to the ground
- 51:17and didn't punch me. He could have punched me, decided
- 51:19not to, but I was so humiliated. I was like, oh,
- 51:22my God, I need to learn how to wrestle. And
- 51:24then I also wrestled in the park, like in the
- 51:27grass with my friend Steven. And I thought I'd be
- 51:29able– I was a good athlete. I was doing karate.
- 51:31I was like, he can't take me down. He took
- 51:32me down instantly. I was like, oh, no, this is terrible.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a whole different beast.
- 51:38Speaker 4: It's also like how tired you get. I remember thinking,
- 51:42I used to think that I had worked out before
- 51:44that because I had taken karate classes and done some Taekwondo.
- 51:47I thought I'd worked out. You don't even know what
- 51:49working out is until you go through a wrestling practice.
- 51:52You're like, we're running stairs? What? What? We're carrying guys
- 51:56around the wrestling room? You pick up your partner, your
- 51:59training partner, you have the firemen carry them around the
- 52:02fucking room? Oh, Jesus Christ. Then you're doing push-ups and
- 52:05sit-ups until you puke. And then you're doing live drills. Fuck.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Non-stop.
- 52:10Speaker 4: Dude.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Animals yeah we would rotate uh you know there's all
- 52:15those different weight classes and just for shits and giggles
- 52:18you know one of the drills was you know escape
- 52:21from the next guy all right beep whistle blows escape
- 52:24you're on bottom you have to get out the next
- 52:26guy so sometimes i at a 103 weight class i
- 52:31would have hugh frost who was i think 235 245
- 52:33250 oh yeah just for one drill And it's a
- 52:39fucking joke. It's a pancake. And he would probably he
- 52:42was probably showing mercy at the time, obviously, but not really,
- 52:45because he doesn't want to. He doesn't want to let
- 52:47this little fucking shithead 103 out from under him. So he's,
- 52:51you know, putting enough pressure to keep everybody there. Not
- 52:55to mention the 165 freak of nature made of muscle
- 52:58and the 185, you know, it's just a drill. But whoo.
- 53:02Reality hits hard. That's how you see the difference between
- 53:0515 and 17 and all that.
- 53:08Speaker 4: And someone who actually really knows how to wrestle. Just
- 53:10wrestler strength. I always tell people, if you want to
- 53:14look at MMA, what is the most important skill? The
- 53:17foundation is wrestling. The foundation. If you wanted your kid
- 53:21to be a badass fighter, you're like, my kid really
- 53:24loves fighting. He thinks he wants to do it, but
- 53:25I want to prepare him right, which I do. Teach
- 53:27him how to wrestle. Get that kid into a really
- 53:30good wrestling program. Because if you have advanced wrestling, you
- 53:34look at how it shuts down so many fighters. Like,
- 53:36look at what Hamzat did to Drekus Duplicy. Hamzat, he
- 53:41just ragdolled him. His wrestling is at such a high level.
- 53:45And Drekus, who was a world champion, couldn't do shit
- 53:47to stop it. He just dragged him to the ground
- 53:49any time he wanted to. Got him in a crucifix
- 53:51like three times.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Marab against O'Malley.
- 53:56Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 53:56Speaker 1: We're watching a guy that does a no-look right-hand knockout
- 54:01punch into a salute, no look at his opponent, right?
- 54:07Speaker 4: Get.
- 54:08Speaker 1: I mean, it's just impossible. It appears impossible in every
- 54:12Khabib fight. The thing I always think about first when
- 54:15I think about Khabib fighting is him being on top
- 54:18and having his feet under the other dude's feet, which
- 54:21is just... That's it. It's the final level when you
- 54:25can't even begin... The process of posturing out in any way.
- 54:31You are nothing. You are a tissue in an octagon
- 54:34with a man.
- 54:34Speaker 4: And he's wailing on your face. He's wailing on your
- 54:37face and he has your legs triangled underneath his legs.
- 54:41Speaker 1: It's always funny when UFC or when casual UFC fans
- 54:47don't understand those little things like that. That aren't even
- 54:50part of the fight. They're looking up here waiting to
- 54:53see if the punches are going to rain down.
- 54:55Speaker 4: Yeah, here it is.
- 54:55Speaker 1: But the positioning... Of his feet is what I'm always
- 54:59looking at and how scary it can be here. He's
- 55:03not even doing.
- 55:03Speaker 5: It right now.
- 55:04Speaker 4: He's hell on top of people. He is right here.
- 55:05Speaker 1: But that leg being thrown is torture.
- 55:08Speaker 4: It's all the weight.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Nothing you can do. There's just nowhere to go. And
- 55:13all that weight on those hips, people don't realize. I
- 55:17notice immediately if I ever see somebody that's kind of
- 55:20on top and their knees are on the ground. Like,
- 55:22if you look, his right knee isn't on the ground.
- 55:25It looks like it might be.
- 55:26Speaker 4: And look how he keeps slamming those left hands into
- 55:29Johnson's head. I mean, he got hit with, like, 15,
- 55:3220 unanswered full-force left-hand blows.
- 55:35Speaker 3: He was holding his arms so he can't move.
- 55:36Speaker 4: Bro, he's horrible. He was horrible. So good. Khabib was
- 55:40so good. And he would do this to world-class fighters, man. And,
- 55:43by the way, Johnson clipped him in that fight, too.
- 55:45It was one of the few times in his career
- 55:47where he got clipped. Yeah, man.
- 55:50Speaker 3: One that looked really frustrated.
- 55:52Speaker 4: What's that?
- 55:52Speaker 3: Who's the one that looks super frustrated in that?
- 55:54Speaker 4: Barboza? I'm just asking. I don't remember who it was.
- 55:57Barboza was one of them. But, I mean, a lot
- 55:59of guys I fought Khabib look frustrated because there's not
- 56:01a damn thing they could do. Nope. Barboza was, like,
- 56:03early in the first round. He had that 1,000-yard stare.
- 56:06It was like, fuck. Like, I have to go through
- 56:08three rounds of this where they just give up on
- 56:10the idea that they could even win. Yeah. Like, all
- 56:12you're doing is trying to survive. Yeah. He was a monster, dude. Like, that.
- 56:18Speaker 1: His leg being trapped inside. Is nuts. And look how
- 56:21he's scooting with it.
- 56:23Speaker 4: And he's just slamming punches. And when you get up,
- 56:25he's just chasing you. But if you get up, he's
- 56:29going to fucking chase you and drag you to the
- 56:31ground again. So you blew all that energy to get up.
- 56:34The moment you try to punch or throw a kick,
- 56:36he's on you. You're on your back again. Punch to
- 56:39the face. Punch to the face. Wrestling's giant. It is
- 56:43the biggest skill. Yeah. You have to know how to
- 56:46do everything else too nowadays because all these kids that
- 56:49you see in the contender series, these young guys coming up, man,
- 56:52they're all so fucking talented. He tried to wheel kick them.
- 56:57Speaker 1: And really more than anything, I feel like being out
- 57:01wrestled and being just trapped on the ground is so
- 57:04psychologically demoralizing when you've been training for a UFC fight
- 57:08and the crowd is out there and the lights are
- 57:10on you and you see the logos on the mat
- 57:12because you're facing it.
- 57:13Speaker 4: Back that up a little bit. Let me show you
- 57:14something here, too. What's interesting here, before that, before the clinch,
- 57:18so after he throws the wheel kick, like Barbosa's trying
- 57:21to win, right? This is the third round. He's trying
- 57:24to win, and he throws this wide. But look, no,
- 57:26go before that. When he throws the kick, here it is.
- 57:30So he throws the kick and misses. He's so tired
- 57:32now that when Khabib moves for him, he clinches. Look,
- 57:36he instigated the clinch. Instead of pushing away, instead of
- 57:39circling to his left, he clenched because he's so tired, dude.
- 57:43He's so tired. And this dude just, look at that face.
- 57:46He just drags him down to the ground again. It's
- 57:49just hell.
- 57:49Speaker 1: Two on one on that arm underneath him. Legs being
- 57:53thrown in. He doesn't know what to do with his legs.
- 57:55He actually just put his foot above Khabib because it's
- 57:58so confusing. All that weight on you. You don't know
- 58:02where to even begin to start getting up.
- 58:05Speaker 4: Well, the first thing he's got to do is get
- 58:06that left leg free, and he's not going to.
- 58:08Speaker 3: That was the part before the crawling thing.
- 58:11Speaker 4: He was a monster. He was a monster. And retired undefeated.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Yeah. And there's something to being on that mat, not
- 58:18being able to move, knowing that the clock is ticking,
- 58:21and this is not how you picture this going.
- 58:24Speaker 4: Not only that, this is with the current rules, where
- 58:27I think— There should be no stand-ups. I think the
- 58:30only time there should be a stand-up is when there's
- 58:32a foul.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I completely agree with you. I hate it when
- 58:35they stand people up.
- 58:36Speaker 4: Even if it's boring. I get it's boring, but the
- 58:38guy can't get up, and this guy's holding him down.
- 58:40So he's winning. He's winning. See, I know he's not
- 58:43doing enough. What does that mean? He's biding his time.
- 58:47You've got to let a guy have strategy. Like when
- 58:50Muhammad Ali did rope-a-dope against George Foreman. Imagine if the
- 58:54referee's like, you've got to punch back. If you don't
- 58:56punch back, no, he's got a strategy. Strategy is let
- 58:59George Foreman burn himself out and then eventually tee off
- 59:02on him, and that's what he did. Yeah.
- 59:04Speaker 1: It stinks that referees can let the crowd get in
- 59:07their head.
- 59:08Speaker 4: Well, it's the organization. wants action too. The fans want action.
- 59:13A lot of people disagree with me. And I understand
- 59:15their point. I understand their point. Especially if you're a casual.
- 59:18A kid's gay. Get him up. Make him fight. You
- 59:21don't want to fight. You want to hug. Boo. Right.
- 59:25So what? So what? This is the sport. And if
- 59:27that guy who's on top, who's biding his time and recovering,
- 59:31then decides, okay, now's the time. Let me start dropping
- 59:34some bombs because I've recovered.
- 59:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 59:37Speaker 4: Good. Well, he held the position and he recovered his
- 59:41energy and now he's winning. Like, let him fucking fight.
- 59:44Let him fight. Get out of there. Get out of there. Yep.
- 59:48There shouldn't be stand-ups.
- 59:49Speaker 1: And I get it. The referee gets that cheer from
- 59:52the crowd.
- 59:53Speaker 4: You know, it feels rewarding. That said, sometimes when they
- 59:55stand fights up, I get excited.
- 59:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 59:57Speaker 4: I go, yeah. Hell yeah. Hell yeah.
- 59:59Speaker 1: That striker has a chance.
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: But my position is still the same. I don't think
- 1:00:03they should stand him up. I'm worse than that. I
- 1:00:05think they should start each round where they lost the
- 1:00:08last round.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Oh, I love that.
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: Yeah. That's great. So every round, why do you get
- 1:00:12to stand up? Why do you get that advantage? The
- 1:00:14striker gets of standing up when you didn't earn it.
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: Get back down there. Yeah. Get back down there. Crucifix.
- 1:00:20Why'd you have to start the round off in a crucifix? Yeah.
- 1:00:23That's how the round ended. They look at the big screen,
- 1:00:26get a freeze frame of the position. Referee sets you
- 1:00:29in the exact position and says, ready? Fight. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: I love that.
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Fuck off.
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: That's what the sport is supposed to be. And sometimes
- 1:00:39it's going to be boring. Yeah. But that's real, though.
- 1:00:42At least it's real. Because there's been a lot of
- 1:00:44fights where the guy got taken down in the first round,
- 1:00:47starts out the second round and blasts the guy and
- 1:00:48knocks him out. And it's like, okay, it's exciting to watch,
- 1:00:52but he didn't earn that position. He just got that
- 1:00:54position because the other guy survived the first round. And
- 1:00:57so it's like it's one fight. It's not five fights. Right.
- 1:01:01So I think it should be one continuous fight with
- 1:01:03a one-minute break in each round.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be like if the team losing automatically got
- 1:01:08the kickoff after halftime or something like that.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Yeah, and look, guaranteed, if I was running the UFC,
- 1:01:15I'd probably go bankrupt.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I'm not the right guy. I don't know.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: What the fuck I'm talking about. I'd be a terrible promoter.
- 1:01:23I'd be too honest about stuff, and I'd want to
- 1:01:24give people fights that maybe they weren't the most exciting fighters,
- 1:01:28but they were above the other person in the rankings.
- 1:01:31I think the rankings should be the whole reason why
- 1:01:34you make fights.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Sami Zayn won the Universal WWE Championship over this weekend
- 1:01:40at a big pay-per-view.
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: I have no idea who that is, but I'm happy
- 1:01:43for him.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Shocked Cody Rhodes. He was like a guaranteed win.
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: I wonder what happened.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Rolled him up real quick.
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: Do you think maybe that was fixed?
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Well, it was very entertaining. Very entertaining.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: I'm sure it was. I just don't understand how you
- 1:01:59go back and forth.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Oh, it's the best.
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: I know you love it.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: Well, sometimes. That's what I said about this White House card,
- 1:02:06by the way, is like there's nothing that could have
- 1:02:10happened that they could have written if it was written
- 1:02:15that would have made it more exciting.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: It felt real the whole time. And the fights that
- 1:02:20happened before made it feel like anything could happen in
- 1:02:23that main event. Like it just felt raw and real,
- 1:02:27but also storyline, which then when UFC is at its
- 1:02:31best like that, it's like the WWE. That's what's interesting.
- 1:02:36Of course, It's not as acrobatic.
- 1:02:40Speaker 4: Well, it's not scripted.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: But it was a special moment. Regardless of how you
- 1:02:47feel politically, and I understand it. If you hate the
- 1:02:51Republicans and you hate the whole idea, I get it.
- 1:02:54But just as a person who loves a sport, it
- 1:02:57was a very unusual experience. Very unusual. And just– I
- 1:03:02think people have to just look at some things that way.
- 1:03:05Some people have a really hard time separating themselves politically
- 1:03:07because they're going, oh, no, the White House puts on
- 1:03:10this thing. There's all this bad press because of the war.
- 1:03:13There's bad press because of this and that. They put
- 1:03:16on this thing at the White House and it sort
- 1:03:17of like MAGA washes everything. You know what I mean?
- 1:03:21Makes everybody like them again. Gives them positive press, which undeniable.
- 1:03:26Undeniable it gave them positive press. I mean the amount
- 1:03:30of people that have seen it is nuts. I think
- 1:03:33just on Paramount, it's something like 30-something million now. And
- 1:03:37they were telling me that they thought it was probably
- 1:03:39150 million people had watched it in some form, which
- 1:03:44was TikTok clips, Instagram, YouTube. That is a nutty number, man.
- 1:03:50And I think Dana and Hunter, they were thinking it
- 1:03:52could get to like a billion people see it, which
- 1:03:55is just nuts in some form. Highlight reels, clips. I mean,
- 1:04:00just the Gaethje fight alone, just the highlight reels, how
- 1:04:02many people watch those on Instagram and TikTok? Totally. The
- 1:04:06awareness of the event of the moment was so huge.
- 1:04:09It was like nothing else. It didn't feel like any
- 1:04:12other event we'd ever been. I was nervous before it started.
- 1:04:16I never get nervous for the UFC. I get excited,
- 1:04:18but I was legitimately nervous. I was feeling a little like,
- 1:04:22this is crazy. We're on the White House lawn? Nuts.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: The flyover is when it really hit.
- 1:04:28Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, when they had all those jets together and
- 1:04:30they were so close to each other. Yeah. Like imagine
- 1:04:32if one of those fucking clips into their wing and
- 1:04:34spirals right into the ellipse.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Crazy. What a spectacle.
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: Yeah. They would have definitely canceled the fights. Because they
- 1:04:44canceled the White House Correspondents Dinner because of that assassination attempt.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: God damn it.
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: Oh, you had a bunch of bangers on that I heard.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: So annoying. I was more excited for that than like
- 1:04:55anything else.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: How did they just cancel it? Why didn't they reschedule it?
- 1:04:59Maybe they're going to wait until the ballroom is finished.
- 1:05:02Because that's the argument for the ballroom, that they could
- 1:05:04have it at a place like that where it's completely secured. Yeah.
- 1:05:08Kurt Massacre thinks the whole thing is fake. Oh, another
- 1:05:12fake assassination attempt? Yeah. How'd that guy get in there?
- 1:05:16I think some people are just incompetent. There's incompetence. There's
- 1:05:20bad security. There's people that don't do their job. There's
- 1:05:24also people that you didn't expect to be a problem
- 1:05:26and were a problem. And you're in a hotel.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Also, the guy made it to the first level of
- 1:05:34the first scanning of security. It's not like he made
- 1:05:38it into the thing.
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: But he did shoot somebody, right? I think he shot
- 1:05:42one of the Secret Service agents in his bulletproof vest. Yeah.
- 1:05:46Is that true, Jamie?
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: There were so many stories online. It's so hard to know.
- 1:05:51What was true and what was not. But I think
- 1:05:53the guy was a teacher. Like a substitute teacher.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: Nuts.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: It's all nuts.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: And it's like, man, you didn't think this out?
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: I rescheduled it for July 24th.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: Oh, okay. Oh, okay.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: The Correspondence Dinner?
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: Wow. It's on.
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: It's on.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: You might want to polish up some of them bits. Yeah.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: It's going to be some new stuff.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: Go back and tag some of them with some current events.
- 1:06:16Where are they going to have it? Oh, sorry.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: I started a.
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: If they have it at the same spot, that's not smart.
- 1:06:25New event held July 24th.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: It's not saying where.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Is it the Pentagon?
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: They might wait. They might wait to release that.
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not saying.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: Oh, Waldorf Astoria.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: Oh, okay. Well, I guarantee you they'll tighten that bitch
- 1:06:47up a little bit.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: No, he was excited to do the jokes.
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Yeah. No, he was very pumped. Yeah.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: They were bangers. I ran them because the thing happened.
- 1:07:00I happened to be performing at the Kennedy Center the
- 1:07:04next weekend. So I ran the jokes and I realized
- 1:07:09that I had Adam Ray as a special guest that
- 1:07:12was on before me. He brought me on stage. So
- 1:07:16I go, you know what? I wrote jokes for the
- 1:07:19president of the united states to make fun of the
- 1:07:21press and everybody at the white house correspondence dinner but
- 1:07:23i just realized adam's here adam you want to come
- 1:07:25out and read these in trump's voice and so he
- 1:07:28was seeing the jokes for the first time and reading
- 1:07:32them and we had so much fun.
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: I didn't know he does a Trump, which doesn't surprise me.
- 1:07:36I mean, his impressions are insane.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: He can do anything.
- 1:07:39Speaker 4: He can do anything.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: He didn't even he did. He was dabbling in a
- 1:07:42Biden the week that I hit him up to do
- 1:07:45Trump Biden, which I think is a fucking guy. I
- 1:07:48think it's like 40 million or seven, some crazy amount.
- 1:07:52And again, just like the UFC, God only knows after clips.
- 1:07:56But it was a monumental comedy fucking moment having Shane.
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: Is Trump right before the election.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Adam is Biden right after. before the election right after
- 1:08:04their first debate where Biden was clearly fucking zonked and
- 1:08:08sleepy and just couldn't compete at all. And so I
- 1:08:13hit up Adam via text. I'm like, do you have
- 1:08:15a Biden? He's like, I cover it for five seconds
- 1:08:19in my standup. I'm like, are you free on Monday
- 1:08:24to fly to Austin and do Biden if I can
- 1:08:26get Shane as Trump? And I remember telling Shane, I
- 1:08:30was like, I'm like, this is going to be an
- 1:08:31interesting ask. Uh, but I, you know, I'm just like, Hey,
- 1:08:36Adam's got a Biden. And Shane's like, I have something
- 1:08:38to do on Monday. I'm canceling it. I'm doing Trump.
- 1:08:41He immediately saw the brilliance. It was just such a
- 1:08:44hot topic at the time. And my God, it was
- 1:08:47fucking crazy. There's clips that I see of that episode
- 1:08:51and I never rewatch kill Tony's or anything. I'll see
- 1:08:54clips sometimes. And I literally go, Oh my God, holy
- 1:08:58fucking shit. There's one part. where Trump goes, how many
- 1:09:01more retards are you going to bring out here? Because
- 1:09:04there've been like two handicapped people on this show.
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: How many more retards you have come as I'm pulling
- 1:09:10a name out of the bucket in real time? I go,
- 1:09:12anything can happen, Mr.
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: President.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Let's see what the next guy's like. And he comes
- 1:09:17out and he has like these weird deformed penguin arms.
- 1:09:20And you see Shane as Trump and the crowd's dying
- 1:09:24because they see him first. And you see Shane as
- 1:09:27Trump look and go, fuck. It's just one of his.
- 1:09:32His facial reactions to things are like his greatest secret
- 1:09:35fucking hilarious weapon. And when he's Trump, it's even amplified.
- 1:09:40It's like, in my opinion, 10 or 20 percent funnier
- 1:09:43than even Shane is. I mean, I'm sure he'd admit
- 1:09:45to this and know it because Trump is just such
- 1:09:47an interesting, polarizing character. And his take on him is
- 1:09:50so fucking funny. It's psychotic.
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: His impression is so good. It's the greatest Trump impression
- 1:09:55of all time because it's like the jokes are so good.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: Oh, by far.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: He's so good. What's funny, Jim? I found the part.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: It's so epic.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: Back it up a little bit.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Another fun appearance by True Nickens.
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: This is the best. All right. Tony, how many more
- 1:10:14retarded guys do you have back here?
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Anything can happen.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: This crowd is hungry for more retarded guys. Frankly, I
- 1:10:21don't think we've seen enough retarded guys. How about a
- 1:10:23retarded racist? Would you like to say that?
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: This next person could be one. I pulled it out
- 1:10:29of the bucket. It is the Kill Tony debut, I
- 1:10:32do believe, of Jacob Barr, everybody.
- 1:10:35Speaker 4: Jacob Barr. Oh, my God. Thank you. Well, well, well. Oh,
- 1:10:44my God. Careful what you win for. Okay, hold on.
- 1:10:49We're going to.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Reset this, Jacob. What's funny is Adam knows better than
- 1:10:55anybody that you're not supposed to say anything after the
- 1:10:58bucket bowl comes up. So me grabbing the mic out
- 1:11:01of his hand and putting it down is even another
- 1:11:04layer of hilarious to all of us. It's like Biden's misbehaving.
- 1:11:07I don't know. Did you see Shane's face when he
- 1:11:11notices his hands?
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: This is it.
- 1:11:12Speaker 7: Look.
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: And then.
- 1:11:21He's our Jackie Gleason.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, without a doubt.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: That's what it is.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Plus, plus, man.
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: He's the great one of our generation.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: What people don't realize, I mean, obviously, is that. He
- 1:11:33is that funny all the fucking time.
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: All the time. When we're hanging out in the green room.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Every bar, every restaurant, every green room, every stairway, fucking anywhere, everything. He,
- 1:11:48I always compare it to Mike Tyson in his prime.
- 1:11:50He just hits harder and different doing the smallest little things.
- 1:11:54Even if it's a face, if somebody says something and
- 1:11:56he just like reacts to it, it's crazy.
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: It's also always fun. He's a fun guy. Like he
- 1:12:01wants to have fun. Like, even when he's cracking jokes,
- 1:12:05it's fun. I know he was very reluctant to do
- 1:12:07the roast. You know, he was a little reluctant to
- 1:12:10even host that. Like, I don't want to do those things. Yeah.
- 1:12:14You know, but.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: Well, everything is, you know, everything could be something. He
- 1:12:19crushed so hard. It caused a real ruckus. Him and
- 1:12:23I end capping that thing. You know what I mean?
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: It was supposed to be a, you know, this roast
- 1:12:29of black excellence. And me and Shane are just fucking having.
- 1:12:33The time of our lives.
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: Who said it was a roast of black excellence? You're
- 1:12:36just saying that because it was Kevin Hart?
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Well, yeah. That's like.
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: It wasn't like explicitly stated or anything, right? I mean...
- 1:12:44Because imagine if you said we're going to have a
- 1:12:46roast of white excellence. Right.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Exactly. Oh, I know.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. It's weird. You can and can't say. Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:53That's weird.
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: You know? Yeah.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: That's a whole thing with that. I mean, you can't
- 1:12:59talk about this, but you can talk about that.
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: Well, it's just weird what we accept, which doesn't bother
- 1:13:05me at all. But like Cain Velasquez, when he fought
- 1:13:07in the UFC, he used to have brown pride tattooed
- 1:13:10on his chest. Cool. And his family came over from Mexico.
- 1:13:13They literally walked here. Yeah. White pride, not so popular. Right.
- 1:13:19White pride on your chest. Fucking Sean Strickland just decided
- 1:13:23to get white pride. And he posted a picture on
- 1:13:27Instagram of him as a world champion. With white pride
- 1:13:31on his chest next to Cain Velasquez as a world
- 1:13:33champion with brown pride on his chest. Yeah. And people
- 1:13:37would lose their fucking minds.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: And again, not saying that Sean would ever put white
- 1:13:44pride on his chest. He would. No, he would.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: I follow him. He doesn't have any tattoos. I follow
- 1:13:49him on Twitter.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: He would.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Trust me.
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: He's a wild boy. Did you see when he showed up?
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: He did a temporary tattoo.
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: He showed up at the UFC even though he was banned.
- 1:13:55He showed up and they arrested him. Yeah. He kicked
- 1:14:00him out. He's the world champion. There's a UFC event
- 1:14:05at the White House. At the time, before Justin won,
- 1:14:07he was the only American world champion. And they're like,
- 1:14:12you can't come.
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:13Speaker 4: Because you talk too much shit about Israel.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: He's a wild boy.
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: But that's wild that your criticism about Israel is what
- 1:14:22keeps you from going to the White House as a
- 1:14:25world champion in a world title fight at the White House.
- 1:14:30Like you would think you want to celebrate the American
- 1:14:33male world champion. I think he said some other stuff
- 1:14:36too though.
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: There's some Epstein stuff there. Yeah. He's a wild boy. Yeah.
- 1:14:41I think he's– I told him when he retires from fighting,
- 1:14:44he 100 percent should do a podcast. And he was like,
- 1:14:46I've seen these guys doing these streamers and like– I go,
- 1:14:51you don't have to do that. You don't have to
- 1:14:53do it that way. He's like, I couldn't do that.
- 1:14:55Just sit there every day and talk to people. I'd
- 1:14:58lose my fucking mind. I'm like, right, but you don't
- 1:15:00have to do that. Just your opinions on things. He's
- 1:15:02an awesome podcast guest. I'm like, he could totally, totally
- 1:15:07do that, just talk about stuff. And also, Sean, when
- 1:15:12he lets the whole shtick down and just gives you
- 1:15:15his opinions on things, very smart guy. He's not stupid
- 1:15:18at all. And he would get better at it as
- 1:15:22he did it more. He easily could do a podcast.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: Yeah, he's entertaining as fuck.
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: I just can't believe they kicked him out of the
- 1:15:30White House. They kicked him out of the Ellipse, that area.
- 1:15:33I think there's a video of it. See if you
- 1:15:35can find the video of it. Sorry, guys. They got
- 1:15:38like fucking six cops and bulletproof vests.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think there was like 85,000 people there. So
- 1:15:44it's funny that they're like, that one, the champion.
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: It's just he wasn't supposed to be there. He's banned.
- 1:15:50He was not invited or whatever. But even if you're
- 1:15:53not invited, shouldn't you be able to go to the
- 1:15:54fan area? If you're the world champion? If you want
- 1:15:57to be that wild with no security, and there's video
- 1:16:00of him from the first night, from the night of
- 1:16:02the weigh-ins, where they found out that he was there.
- 1:16:04It's amazing. Because he was wearing a hoodie the entire time.
- 1:16:08And someone told him he's got to take off the hoodie.
- 1:16:09And he's like, I can't. Listen, it's going to be
- 1:16:12a problem. And as soon as he takes off the hoodie,
- 1:16:14everybody goes, let's focus. And then he's just surrounded by bros.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Hilarious.
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: Just getting hugged to death. Some dude asked him to
- 1:16:25leg kick him. So Sean leg kicked some kid. We're
- 1:16:30a champion. Fucking kick in some kid. What is this
- 1:16:34world coming to?
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: There's him.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: Is there audio?
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: This is crazy.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: I like that we have some entertaining American people.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: Oh, he's the most entertaining.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: That Josh Hockett. Hockett?
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: Hockett. Hockett. Yeah.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: My God.
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: That was what was hilarious was people were so upset
- 1:17:08that he said Michelle Obama's a man at the White House.
- 1:17:12It's like that's what he's doing. He's doing that on purpose.
- 1:17:15He's literally wearing an American flag bandana. He comes out
- 1:17:18to a Hulk Hogan song. He's wearing sunglasses. Yeah, it's
- 1:17:22not appropriate. You're right.
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: But he said the exact same thing when I interviewed
- 1:17:27him somewhere else. Yeah. I'm pretty sure he said Michelle
- 1:17:32Obama's a man like last time I interviewed him.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: That's what I heard. It's not his first rodeo at
- 1:17:37the Michelle.
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: Obama's a man. That's how he ends his interviews.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: Hilarious.
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: He's trying to get people to talk about him. Yep.
- 1:17:45You know, the whole thing is so crazy. But all
- 1:17:49of it would be nothing if he couldn't fight.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Exactly. That's where it's real exciting is the pre-fight stuff.
- 1:17:57I mean, the post fight interview, pretty polarizing, obviously, because
- 1:18:00that was the news. But if you for the real
- 1:18:04fans paying attention, you didn't get to see him do that.
- 1:18:07Did I send it to you? The kill Tony minute
- 1:18:09that he did at the press conference. Oh, my God.
- 1:18:12So funny because he's like purposefully bombing. So he's literally
- 1:18:16doing a joke. He says, you guys know Tony Hinchcliffe?
- 1:18:19I'm going to do my Kill Tony Minute. And he's purposefully, like, bombing.
- 1:18:22It's corny, purposeful, bad jokes. And he's going, man, tough crowd.
- 1:18:26All right, let me try this one. And it's like
- 1:18:29literally being hilarious by strategically trying to be funny but
- 1:18:36not being funny. You could tell that he was planning
- 1:18:38on nobody laughing, but that it's set up punch.
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: And.
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: He's just fucking trying to entertain.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: He's trolling. He's trolling. He's getting attention. And then the
- 1:18:51most important thing, he can fight. Yeah. That dude's good.
- 1:18:54He's fucking good, man. He's fast as shit. For a heavyweight,
- 1:18:58he's very light on his feet. Fast as shit. Fast hands. Yeah.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: So fun to watch.
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: And, you know, what's interesting is he talked a lot
- 1:19:06of shit about Alex Pereira. And, you know, I want
- 1:19:10a Shama on your mama or all that crazy shit.
- 1:19:13Pereira losing to Cyril Gaunt. If Pereira decides to fight again,
- 1:19:17I don't know if he's going to fight again. He
- 1:19:19might be done. I think he said he might be done. But,
- 1:19:22I mean, a lot of fighters say that after a
- 1:19:24fight and especially after a loss. Yeah. Let him sit
- 1:19:26around for a while. Then they come up with.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: He's not done.
- 1:19:29Speaker 4: They back up the Brinks truck. Get him versus Josh Hoke. Oh,
- 1:19:33my God. As a co-main event on a fucking banging
- 1:19:37New Year's Eve card. Let's go.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Hokut will be making fun of his headdress and his
- 1:19:43face makeup.
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: Oh, it would be insane. It would be insane. But,
- 1:19:47you know, the thing is Hokut's got to deal with
- 1:19:48that guy. That's a different guy. That's not Derek Lewis.
- 1:19:52I mean, if he continues to fight heavyweight. It is
- 1:19:55interesting watching a guy who's been so dominant at 85
- 1:19:59and at 205 with all that extra weight on. I
- 1:20:03don't know if that necessarily was the right move. You know,
- 1:20:08I mean, I think like some weight is probably good,
- 1:20:10but maybe even 20 pounds lighter, like maybe 230 something.
- 1:20:14Maybe that would be a better weight if he really
- 1:20:15wants to fight at heavyweight because it seems like he
- 1:20:17was carrying. I mean, just, you ever work out with
- 1:20:20a weight vest on? Yeah. It's crazy. Yeah. Like a
- 1:20:2325 pound weight vest. It's nuts how much harder everything is.
- 1:20:27So you got to realize he had fought at 185
- 1:20:30and he fought at 205. That was what he weighed
- 1:20:32in at. But let's be real. Honest, at 185, I
- 1:20:38think he probably weighed 220-something. 226, I think it was,
- 1:20:41fight night, which is nuts. That's 40 pounds difference. And
- 1:20:44at 205, he probably got into the 230s, like 235, 236,
- 1:20:49something like that. But still didn't look like he looked
- 1:20:55at 251. 251, he looked like he was carrying unnecessary weight,
- 1:21:00a little bit of it at least. And if he
- 1:21:02was just like 20 pounds lighter... He would still have
- 1:21:04that speed and movement, but he's always had crazy knockout power.
- 1:21:09It might be a better weight for him. It just
- 1:21:12seemed like it was a lot of weight he had
- 1:21:13on him.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: And it all went to his ass.
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: His ass was giant.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Fat ass.
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: Big fat ass.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: You know me. You know that's all I'm looking at.
- 1:21:21That's why I watch UFC. And, yeah, it was all there.
- 1:21:25It was like a backpack.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: Well, that's where all the power comes from. When you're
- 1:21:29pushing off your feet and you're pushing off those fucking quads.
- 1:21:33And pushing into those glutes and then torquing that body
- 1:21:35the way he does. Ferocious power, dude. But damn, that
- 1:21:39Cyril Ghosn's good.
- 1:21:40Speaker 5: Woo!
- 1:21:40Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:21:42Speaker 6: Woo!
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Yeah, crazy.
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: He's so good, dude. And he's in his prime right now.
- 1:21:45Cyril Ghosn is like really coming into his own. There's
- 1:21:48no heavyweight like him. No one moves like him.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say extremely accurate for a heavyweight.
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: Not just accurate, agile. Because we were talking about this
- 1:21:57the other day, that basketball is a great place to
- 1:22:00start if you're a big athlete and you want to
- 1:22:02learn combat sports, especially striking. Because think about how many
- 1:22:07direction changes basketball players take, where they're always kind of
- 1:22:10doing that. They're always spinning and moving. It's a series
- 1:22:13of plyometrics. It's a series of hops and jumps. Like
- 1:22:16Jordan's jump. Imagine if Jordan had a flying knee. Right.
- 1:22:21He's hitting you with a flying knee from 14 feet away.
- 1:22:25What do you got? What's that?
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: It's interesting because.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: Oh, serial guns. Yeah. So he started out playing basketball.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: At least where I come from, basketball season and wrestling
- 1:22:39season are at the same time. So I wonder what
- 1:22:43he was doing back then.
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: Well, he's in France, right? So France does not have
- 1:22:46wrestling in their high school or in their college. And
- 1:22:50he learned wrestling after he had become a really elite
- 1:22:54world-class Muay Thai fighter. So he's got... The grappling has
- 1:22:59come up in big ways. His grappling is much better
- 1:23:02than it used to be. But really, primarily, he's a striker.
- 1:23:05And when John fought him, John just got him to
- 1:23:08the ground and submitted him quickly. I think that fight
- 1:23:12was kind of a big-ass wake-up call. And Francis beat him, too.
- 1:23:15So Francis beat him by just... Francis just got a
- 1:23:19hold of him, and most of the fight was on
- 1:23:21the ground, a giant chunk of it, because Francis fought
- 1:23:24that fight with a blown-out ACL.
- 1:23:26Speaker 6: Wow.
- 1:23:27Speaker 4: Defended his world title with a blown-out ACL. Crazy. Had
- 1:23:30big-ass knee pads on.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: Oof.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: I know, wobbly-ass knee, but that's how dangerous Francis is.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: He could just win it with grappling. It's a shame
- 1:23:40that he's not in the UFC. It's a real shame. Yeah. Because, like,
- 1:23:44that whole thing was what drove everyone crazy about boxing.
- 1:23:49that it was really hard to get these guys together.
- 1:23:51And this was the whole idea, why everybody was excited
- 1:23:54about what Riyadh season was doing. And Turkey Al-Sheikh and
- 1:23:59all those people that put together these big-ass fights, like
- 1:24:03Tyson Fury and Aleksandr Usyk. And the last one they
- 1:24:07just did, Rico Verhoeven and Usyk. They're putting together these big,
- 1:24:10crazy fights. That was the thing that drove everybody nuts
- 1:24:15about boxing. And that's what drives everybody nuts about MMA.
- 1:24:18The one thing is it's the heavyweight division. The fact
- 1:24:21that the best heavyweight, or at least the guy who
- 1:24:23was the lineal heavyweight champion in the world, isn't even
- 1:24:26fighting for the UFC. That's crazy. It's crazy. Yeah.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Who knows? Maybe one day, right?
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: Nope. Nope. I don't think so. I tried to make
- 1:24:34it happen. Damn. I think we need to get those
- 1:24:36dudes together. Look at that. Look at Cyril Gunn dunking.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: I know. See, that kind of ability to throw your
- 1:24:44body around like that is so huge as a striker.
- 1:24:47Because a lot of those guys are plotting. You know,
- 1:24:49they're plotters. They just kind of like wobble through. I
- 1:24:53think what they need to do is get Francis and
- 1:24:55the UFC together. They all do mushrooms. Yeah. Just like
- 1:24:58make friends. Yeah. Because he doesn't have much time left.
- 1:25:01I think Francis is 38. Is that how old he is?
- 1:25:06I think he's 38. Which is different as a heavyweight.
- 1:25:09Heavyweights have interns 40 in September. Whoa. Not much time left. Right. 40,
- 1:25:15you can do. But unless you're Bernard Hopkins fighting at
- 1:25:18a world-class level in your 40s, kind of unheard of.
- 1:25:21I remember when Bernard Hopkins fought Kelly Pavlik, a lot
- 1:25:27of people did not think that he had a chance.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I remember that very clearly.
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: And he outboxed the.
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: Fuck out of Kelly Pavlik.
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: He looked so good.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Truly the executioner.
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: I want to say he was in his 40s when
- 1:25:39that happened.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: I think so.
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: How old was Bernard Hopkins when he fought Kelly Pavlik?
- 1:25:46He fought at a world-class level until he's 50 years old. Yeah.
- 1:25:49It's nuts. Yeah. Nuts.
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: We were all watching that one. Everybody from Youngstown going,
- 1:25:54all right, this is it. We're going to get back
- 1:25:55on the right path because it was after his loss
- 1:25:58to Margarito. Is that right? It's the guy that got
- 1:26:03caught with the cement in his gloves against the one guy.
- 1:26:05Antonio Margarito.
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: I do believe.
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: 43. Wow.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: He was 43 years old.
- 1:26:07Speaker 4: Wow. Crazy. Against a 26-year-old.
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: Especially at 170 pounds. Nobody thinks at that weight that
- 1:26:23you can be competitive at a world-class level into your 40s.
- 1:26:28Most of the time. People just write you off on
- 1:26:30that number. They don't even care what you look like.
- 1:26:32He's not going to be able to do it.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: Was he the first one to beat Kelly? Is that
- 1:26:35what I just saw? Wow. Okay. So he lost to
- 1:26:39him and that's where shit started to get fucked up.
- 1:26:42Because then he went on a A bad run after that.
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: Well, when you got beat up like that, it's just
- 1:26:48tough on the brain, dude. There's only so many of
- 1:26:50them fights that you could take where you get really
- 1:26:54beat up like that. Bernard put it on him. You know,
- 1:26:57there's been a bunch of fights where a fighter got
- 1:27:00beat up really badly and then they were never the
- 1:27:02same again. Meldrick Taylor versus Julio Cesar Chavez. That's a
- 1:27:06great example. Chavez just put it on him and dropped
- 1:27:09him in the final moments of the round. And then
- 1:27:12Richard Steele stopped it. And it was like this crazy
- 1:27:15fucking controversy. Because he stopped the fight with like one
- 1:27:18second to go in a fight that Meldrick was ahead
- 1:27:20on the scorecards. But the real story of that fight
- 1:27:25was that the damage that Chavez had put on Meldrick,
- 1:27:29Meldrick was never the same again.
- 1:27:30Speaker 3: And Pavlik actually won his next two fights and then
- 1:27:34had a bad staph infection problem.
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: Oh, wow. So after he beat Sergio, so he was
- 1:27:41set to fight Paul Williams, but to major staph infection
- 1:27:45and allergic reaction, some antibiotics nearly killed him. Whoa. He
- 1:27:49eventually was able to fight again against light middleweight champion,
- 1:27:52Sergio Martinez.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: Oh, Sergio Martinez.
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: He beat him. Martinez beat, he beat him. He, Martinez
- 1:27:59beat him. Um, but yeah, uh, Unanimous 12-round decision. Sergio
- 1:28:06Martinez was a.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: Bad motherfucker too.
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: Yes, he was. Yeah. In the late rounds, Martinez came up.
- 1:28:15It's just a crazy sport, man. You only have so
- 1:28:16many wars in you. There's only so many times you
- 1:28:19could do that. And the really clever guys are the
- 1:28:22guys who just don't get hit much.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I went down a Maidana rabbit hole recently. Oh, my God.
- 1:28:28That fucking guy's a freak.
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: Oh, he was an animal.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: What a career.
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: He was an animal.
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: Unbelievable. He fought everybody. He was one of.
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: The few guys to really rock Floyd Mayweather.
- 1:28:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: Knocked his tooth out and wore his tooth around a chain. Oh,
- 1:28:42I love that. Yeah. He got Floyd's tooth and wore
- 1:28:46it as a piece. See if you can find the
- 1:28:48tooth that Maidana had of Floyd. Look at that.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: Oh, my God. That is so cool.
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: How hilarious is that? That's.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: So funny.
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: He had his tooth put on a fucking, he wears.
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: Floyd's tooth on a necklace.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: Wow. That's crazy.
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: Boy, what a square-jawed motherfucker that guy is, huh? Yeah.
- 1:29:09Look at that jaw. That guy looks like he could
- 1:29:11hit him with a baseball bat. He was a tough dude.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: Insane career. I think he fought everybody.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: The Broner fight, too. He dropped Broner. That was when
- 1:29:19Broner was in his prime. Yeah. He was a beast.
- 1:29:23It's a hard-ass fucking sport. Any combat sport is a
- 1:29:28hard way to make a living.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Profitable.
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: Do you see all the stuff that's going on with Floyd?
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Yeah. I can't wrap my head around it. I don't
- 1:29:36understand how someone makes that much money and doesn't pay
- 1:29:41taxes or whatever.
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, I could tell you how. You run out
- 1:29:44of money. Yeah. You spend so much money on things.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Do you think he has a business manager?
- 1:29:51Speaker 4: Maybe he wasn't looking out for his best interest. I mean, just.
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: You gotta put somebody in charge of that amount of money.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: You would think $ 750 million would last you a while.
- 1:30:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:30:06Speaker 4: I mean, it's not even 50.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: You give one guy 5%. How old is Floyd now?
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: I mean... Yeah, put some away. But the thing is,
- 1:30:15it's like that lifestyle, his lifestyle was all about showing
- 1:30:19you his wealth. His lifestyle... He's 49. Imagine... Making $ 750
- 1:30:26million and you're 49, you're broke. Oh, God. That's crazy.
- 1:30:31But Tyson talks openly about how he spent hundreds of
- 1:30:33millions of dollars. Just went through it. You know, if
- 1:30:37you're living that life where you're just wearing diamonds everywhere
- 1:30:40and you're buying crazy watches and, you know, Floyd does
- 1:30:43these things. You're seeing where he'll go into a hotel
- 1:30:46room when he's traveling and he talks about like the
- 1:30:49watches that he brought. And so he opens up suitcases
- 1:30:51with millions of dollars in watches. Just open suitcase. You
- 1:30:56ever seen these? No. Find them because they're kind of hilarious.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: He's just trying to figure out which one he wants
- 1:31:02to wear. He brings them all with him.
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: Yeah. He's just showing off. He's showing off that he's
- 1:31:06got two suitcases filled with diamond-encrusted Patek Philips and, you know,
- 1:31:14the most high-end of watches. Look at this. Do you
- 1:31:18have the clip? Here it is. Put some volume on this.
- 1:31:21Look at this.
- 1:31:22Speaker 7: I'm always in my fucking business worried about what I'm doing,
- 1:31:25what Floyd is doing, what Floyd ain't doing, what I
- 1:31:28do got, what I don't got. Just know, I'm going
- 1:31:31to stay in my lane, I ain't going to fuck
- 1:31:33with nobody, and I don't want nobody fucking with me.
- 1:31:35If I go on vacation, my fault, when I go
- 1:31:38on vacation for 30 days, I take 30.
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: Watches with me. Look at this, dude. But you know what?
- 1:31:47You know what? What's crazy is this. If we add
- 1:31:5010 more days.
- 1:31:52Speaker 7: I'd take 10 more watches.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: But then I say, fuck it.
- 1:31:58Speaker 7: If I want to bring out the one and only,
- 1:32:00then I bring out the watch that costs 18 million.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Oh, Jesus.
- 1:32:04Speaker 7: Matter of fact, you know what I'm going to do
- 1:32:06for you motherfucking haters today? I'm going to go fuck
- 1:32:09off $ 50, 000 because I ain't got shit else to do.
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: Money made. All motherfucking day. You know what's crazy? That's
- 1:32:16the problem. So that you can only do for so long. Yeah. So...
- 1:32:21If you have one $ 18 million watch, like, okay, let's
- 1:32:25not get crazy. Let's not get crazy. You wanted to
- 1:32:28get it. You got it. You have $ 750 million. You
- 1:32:30have one $ 18 million watch. You can't have 18 watches
- 1:32:37that cost millions of dollars because you're going to need more.
- 1:32:41You're going to keep wanting to buy more. You're going
- 1:32:43to run out of money. How many Rolls Royces do
- 1:32:46you have? Okay, each one of those is a half
- 1:32:47a million dollars. You have four or five of them? Hmm.
- 1:32:51How many Ferraris? You got 10 Ferraris. Okay, what? Some
- 1:32:55of those Ferraris are almost a million dollars. You have
- 1:32:5810 almost a million dollar cars. Okay, so just in
- 1:33:01watches and cars alone, we're looking at 50, 60 million. Okay?
- 1:33:07And then you have to make 120 plus to actually
- 1:33:09have 60. I don't know if he's leasing them. I
- 1:33:12don't know how he's financing things. I don't know.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: I'd love to know. He could make that money back by...
- 1:33:19He can make the money that he needs back by
- 1:33:21literally making a super documentary about how he spent it.
- 1:33:25You ever seen that 30 for 30 broke about how
- 1:33:27the NFL players all spent their money?
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: No.
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: Well, it's unbelievable. One of the easiest watches ever. And
- 1:33:35like it, it's, it's gotta be 30 for 30 is
- 1:33:39like biggest production ever. Like it's everywhere. It's, it's just huge.
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: And, um, yeah.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Who the hell doesn't want to know about that?
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: And I'm waiting on that Nicolas Cage doc that probably
- 1:33:51nobody's making either. Where it's like, because he's a different
- 1:33:54version of that.
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: He is? You know about this. He went broke? Oh, yeah.
- 1:33:58But then he made it back again. Well, yeah.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: He works his ass off. So he went on a,
- 1:34:02he's on a terror. He's just making movies left and right.
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: And, yeah.
- 1:34:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:34:10Speaker 4: He faced severe financial struggles in the late 2000s, going
- 1:34:13from $ 150 million fortune to being $ 6 million in debt. Whoa.
- 1:34:17He never officially filed for bankruptcy, but he cleared his
- 1:34:20debts by relentlessly taking on movie roles, including direct-to-video films
- 1:34:25and selling off extensive real estate and assets.
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: I guess he bought a lot of T-Rex skulls. He
- 1:34:30spent his money on crazy things. He didn't just go
- 1:34:33watches and cars. He would find crazy pieces of art
- 1:34:37and old... historical things, I think.
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: Well, he was a movie star from way back. You
- 1:34:45got to realize like, what was his first film? I
- 1:34:47think his first film was like 1980 or something.
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: I remember him being a movie star when I was
- 1:34:52in high school. Yeah. That's a lot of time of
- 1:34:55being in that bizarro Hollywood bubble, getting your brain cooked
- 1:35:00by fame. Yeah.
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: He's one of those, you can watch him do any
- 1:35:03things like one of those freaks where, Even though people
- 1:35:08will say, I don't like this Nicolas Cage thing. I
- 1:35:10don't like that.
- 1:35:12Speaker 4: From an article about what he spent his money on. $ 455, 000
- 1:35:13for two snakes. Okay, so it was $ 276, 000 in 2005,
- 1:35:14the equivalent of $ 455, 000 today. Thanks, inflation. How crazy is that?
- 1:35:19Think about that. $ 275, 000 in 2005 is $ 455, 000 today. How
- 1:35:38fun is inflation?
- 1:35:39Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: What was Nicolas Cage's first movie? Officially? Yeah.
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: He was in a few things, like, unofficially.
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: Did you see that crazy movie with him and.
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: Raising Arizona to be, like, the first big hit, right?
- 1:35:54Speaker 4: That was a big one. That was a big one.
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: His new ones are good, too. These wacky ones.
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: His filmography, if you go all the way back. 1982,
- 1:36:05Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: It was Nicholas Coppola.
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: Valley Girl is what I was thinking of. That was
- 1:36:09in 83. Yeah. Credit is Nicholas Coppola. That's before he
- 1:36:14changed his name because he didn't want to be connected.
- 1:36:18What is his uncle? Francis Ford Coppola? Is that what
- 1:36:20it is? Valley Girl. So Valley Girl was 83. So
- 1:36:24I was in high school, dude.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: Raising Arizona, Peggy Sue Got Married.
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: Those were big, too.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: Big.
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: Those were huge movies, dude. Raising Arizona is so fucking funny.
- 1:36:33I saw that like a year ago. I forgot how
- 1:36:36funny it was. Remember Tex Cobb was in there? The
- 1:36:40boxer with the flattened nose who fought Larry Holmes? He
- 1:36:43did a bunch of movies.
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: The big white guy?
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: Yeah, big fucking corn-fed white guy.
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: With the motorcycle?
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: Yeah. Oh, yeah. He's great. It's a Coen Brothers movie, right?
- 1:36:52Raising Arizona is. Those guys might be the GOATs. They
- 1:36:57might be the GOATs of comedy. They're in the Farrelly Brothers. Yep.
- 1:37:01No doubt. How many? hilarious fucking movies. And the Coen
- 1:37:04brothers was, they were always so out there. Everything's so
- 1:37:07out there. Some of their films are just like, what
- 1:37:10the fuck are you guys doing? It's like King. It
- 1:37:14was Kingpin Farrelly brothers. Yes. Those guys too. Without a doubt. Fuck.
- 1:37:17That was good.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: Unbelievable.
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: Fuck. That's a funny movie.
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: So fucking great.
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: So funny. The scene where he's throwing up in the
- 1:37:24toilet when she's talking about him eating her pussy to
- 1:37:28pay his rent.
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: Oh my God. Oh, Woody's range is incredible.
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: You know what I heard about that movie? That they
- 1:37:36had primed all the actors to get really excited when
- 1:37:40Bill Murray throws three strikes. Because he had to throw
- 1:37:43three strikes in a row. And so they said, this
- 1:37:45might take a while, so we're going to really need
- 1:37:46your enthusiasm. And then Bill Murray actually threw three strikes
- 1:37:51in a row, first attempt, and everybody went crazy. Like,
- 1:37:55for real. Because they were, you know, like, they said,
- 1:37:58this is not going to happen this way. So when
- 1:38:00he actually did it, Everybody went fucking bananas.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: Nuts.
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: Fuck, such a good movie. I love it.
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: Dude, Woody's a freak, bro. Since he's moved here and
- 1:38:10goes to kill Tony and we hang out and stuff,
- 1:38:14only after making friends with him, I knew he did
- 1:38:21a lot of great stuff, but he sneaks up in
- 1:38:24so many great things. It's insane. He's in fucking, what
- 1:38:29is it? is the Coen Brothers one with Not There
- 1:38:32Will Be Blood? It was made at the same time
- 1:38:33with Javier Bardem.
- 1:38:35Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: How am I blanking on this? It's No Country for
- 1:38:39Old Men.
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: Oh, that's right.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: He's in it. And he's not even, they don't even
- 1:38:43like promote him on that or anything. He just comes
- 1:38:46in the movie halfway through with all these other fucking
- 1:38:49greats and is crushing.
- 1:38:52Speaker 4: It's hard to think that that's the Coen Brothers movie.
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: The People versus Larry Flint. He's a freak of nature.
- 1:38:59Speaker 4: Well, that thing that you sent me the other day
- 1:39:00with him when he was playing LBJ.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Oh my God. It's so good. I randomly stumbled across
- 1:39:06that one. I'm like, oh, I'll fall asleep to this.
- 1:39:07Woody is LBJ. And it's one of those movies that
- 1:39:09fucking kept me awake because it was so goddamn good. Mesmerizing.
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: Super nice guy too. Like easy to hang out with.
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: Oh my God. The best.
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: Very chill with everybody. Just hangs out when he's in
- 1:39:22the green room. It's just like one of us. Yeah. Normal. Yeah.
- 1:39:25You know, it's just hard to do. And you've been
- 1:39:27famous that long. Just be cool.
- 1:39:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: But also he doesn't have a phone. You get a
- 1:39:31hold of him. You got to go through his wife
- 1:39:33to get a hold of him. He's smart. Just insulates
- 1:39:35himself from all the nonsense.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: Brilliant. That's the way to do it.
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: But I think when you get to like that level,
- 1:39:41you kind of have to or you'll go crazy.
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: You know? Yeah.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: He has this fun. He likes laughing, sipping his tequila,
- 1:39:50smoking his weed. He's got it all figured out. Grows
- 1:39:54his own weed, makes his own tequila, eats live food
- 1:39:58or whatever. And just laughs and enjoys life. It's perfect.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it's nice to know that people can make it
- 1:40:05through that crazy maze. And, you know, you could either
- 1:40:09go nuts and buy Tyrannosaurus Rex skulls. Or you could
- 1:40:13just completely disconnect from it all and just be yourself. Yeah.
- 1:40:17Just keep killing it. I know him and McConaughey have
- 1:40:21a TV show that's coming out where they play Brothers, right? Yeah.
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: I think it's on Apple TV coming out soon.
- 1:40:32Speaker 4: Yeah. So, um, what's it been like, like the, the weirdness,
- 1:40:37the post roast weirdness.
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: I'm always surprised by these things. I'm always surprised that
- 1:40:45they last so long that anybody's talking about it. It's
- 1:40:50so bizarre. I was surprised with the Pang Dang thing.
- 1:40:55I was surprised at the Trump thing and this one.
- 1:40:59is really surprising because with other ones are like, ah,
- 1:41:02there's a time and a place for jokes like that
- 1:41:04or this or that or whatever. And this is the
- 1:41:08time and the place for it is like the roast
- 1:41:10of Kevin Hart, you know, I'm going to go for it.
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: And we roasted Kevin, you know, I did a fucking
- 1:41:17George Floyd joke in the, uh, at the Tom Brady roast.
- 1:41:23And I did a, who's the white guy that shot people? Um,
- 1:41:29It's the same fan base as, God damn it, the
- 1:41:33kid that shot people up in wherever.
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: Be a little more specific.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: The white guy shot a couple people, had a gun
- 1:41:41at a thing that made it look like it was
- 1:41:44black people, but it was actually white people that he
- 1:41:46shot that were shooting at him or had guns. What?
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: I have no idea who you're talking about. God damn it.
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: David Lucas' friends with him brought him to the club.
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: Oh, Kyle Rittenhouse. That's it.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: That's it. I did a Kyle Rittenhouse joke. I did this.
- 1:41:59And then this one, people are offended or something.
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: And yeah, if you just watch that clip on my dismount,
- 1:42:06it's a crazy clip. But if you watch the entire
- 1:42:08flow of the roast set, it's just one last departing joke,
- 1:42:13which that's my thing, man. It's like I knew Earthquake
- 1:42:17would be standing up on his feet like he was
- 1:42:20halfway through my set, you know. you know there's standing
- 1:42:24o's that are happening during my actual roast and on
- 1:42:27this one because there were so many people on it
- 1:42:30it was such a long big roast you know they
- 1:42:33set you to an allotted time so I'm like okay
- 1:42:35I'm gonna do something I don't normally do and blast
- 1:42:38off more jokes per minute than I normally do instead
- 1:42:41of milking it and getting applause breaks and things like
- 1:42:44that I'm just gonna create a bang bang bang bang
- 1:42:47bang final stand of things you know what's funny is
- 1:42:51that I have something that's supposed to offend everybody. Like,
- 1:42:56I don't want you to like 100% of any of
- 1:42:59my jokes. I'm not that guy. I'm heel-ish. I'm a
- 1:43:03bad guy wrestling fan.
- 1:43:04Speaker 4: You're a pro wrestling heel. Exactly.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: So what's funny is people got offended about the George
- 1:43:09Floyd thing, and a lot of people said, yeah, well,
- 1:43:13Pete Davidson did a Charlie Kirk joke. And they're comparing
- 1:43:16these things from two different spectrums. But what they didn't
- 1:43:19mention is that I did a Charlie Kirk joke in
- 1:43:22my set. So fuck them, fuck them, fuck them, fuck them.
- 1:43:26You know what I mean?
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: Everybody gets them.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: Everybody gets it is always my whole point.
- 1:43:29Speaker 4: Everybody gets some jokes.
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: Everybody does. I said that Kevin has, uh, what, quite
- 1:43:36the fan base. He has more gunfire at his merch
- 1:43:39table than Charlie Kirk or whatever. And, um, so, you know,
- 1:43:45for them to, for people to nitpick that joke and
- 1:43:48be offended. And it's funny cause it was a lot of, uh,
- 1:43:51A lot of comedians, a lot of black comedians were like,
- 1:43:55I'm upset about this. They made their videos, which is
- 1:44:00just hilarious because they're not on the roast. They're not
- 1:44:02in attendance at the roast.
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: You saw Tiffany Haddish.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: That was the best one. Nobody handled it better than her.
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: Find Tiffany Haddish getting asked questions. Was it a TMZ thing? Yeah.
- 1:44:14About the roast because she handled it. So perfectly.
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: They were trying to bait everybody.
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: Of course they were.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Everybody. Even Cheryl Underwood, who handled it all like a champ.
- 1:44:25We made friends before at a Netflix brunch that week
- 1:44:30that was for that festival.
- 1:44:32Speaker 4: Well, dude, I told you about Cheryl. Yeah.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: She's the shit.
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: She's awesome. I worked with Cheryl in like the early 2000s,
- 1:44:39I think it was, in Montreal. I told you. She's
- 1:44:41a monster. Yeah. She'd go and stitch her purse on.
- 1:44:44Just clutching her purse on stage and murdered. Oh, yeah.
- 1:44:49Listen to Tiffany.
- 1:44:51Speaker 6: Oh, she ready.
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: You look so good.
- 1:44:54Speaker 6: Do we have like 30 seconds to chat really quick?
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: Yeah. So talking about Kevin Hart roast, right?
- 1:44:58Speaker 6: Yes, it was so much fun.
- 1:44:59Speaker 4: So Lonnie Love didn't think so.
- 1:45:01Speaker 6: Lonnie Love was like, you know what?
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: It's exhausting.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: It's edgy. Specifically about the George Floyd joke. What are
- 1:45:08you thinking? Is it just comedy? Should they have been
- 1:45:10a little less?
- 1:45:12Speaker 6: I think it should have been shorter. The show was
- 1:45:14too long. I mean, I was sitting there the whole time.
- 1:45:16Speaker 4: I had to pee.
- 1:45:17Speaker 6: I didn't hear the George Floyd joke because I had
- 1:45:19to pee so bad. So, yeah, I was a glorified
- 1:45:23seat filler.
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: And I was tired.
- 1:45:26Speaker 6: Well, also, I mean, Lonnie and other people were like, oh,
- 1:45:28maybe it was a little too racially motivated.
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: What do you think as far as, like, the jokes?
- 1:45:34Is this just comedy?
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: Or are people taking it too seriously?
- 1:45:38Speaker 6: Is this all comedians saying it that wasn't invited?
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: That's the fucking comedian Tiffany Haddish.
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: Bro, that was her version of the Sean O'Malley walk off.
- 1:45:52I love it.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: I love it, man. You never forget those people that
- 1:45:57actually are answering honestly and real.
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: Well, real comics.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: And again, it's the same thing for 100%. She's not
- 1:46:05only is it a fun walk off home run, but
- 1:46:07she's also 100% correct. There's nobody that was there that
- 1:46:12was offended. There was no ruckus there. It's just like
- 1:46:15everything else where you leave and you go, huh, this
- 1:46:19thing's kind of crazily taking off, it seems. A lot
- 1:46:22of people are talking about that one joke at the end.
- 1:46:25It's so weird.
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: We live in an outrage culture and an outrage. There's
- 1:46:32money in outrage. There's engagement in outrage. Outrage is the
- 1:46:36It's the commodity that everybody wants. They want to be outraged.
- 1:46:40And they want to be right. And if you're outraged
- 1:46:42and you've got a good point, you just ride that
- 1:46:44fucking thing for as much juice as you can get
- 1:46:46out of it. And then you move on to the
- 1:46:47next thing. What are you mad at now?
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: There's never in any of these things, there's never a
- 1:46:53moment where I'm like, okay, this could cause a problem.
- 1:46:58It's never been that way. It was high fives. High
- 1:47:02fives and laughter after my... 3 p.m. set in a
- 1:47:06half-filled Madison Square Garden waiting for the 8 p.m. arrival
- 1:47:10of Trump to speak. I'm, you know, on a 34-person lineup.
- 1:47:14Everyone was thrilled. Way to get the crowd going. I mean,
- 1:47:18we're just getting the party started. The lights were up. Like,
- 1:47:21it obviously wasn't the best position for me on that lineup,
- 1:47:25but the same exact thing. And then it's like a
- 1:47:28little bit later, you realize like, oh, they're making a
- 1:47:30news story about The Puerto Rico joke about things. So interesting.
- 1:47:34Speaker 4: I told you that joke was going to be a problem. Yeah.
- 1:47:37I would have never told you to do that joke
- 1:47:39during that, but I told you that was going to
- 1:47:41be a problem in your act.
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: It wasn't supposed to be in my original thing for that.
- 1:47:45It was a last second filler because they gave me
- 1:47:47more time than everybody. It was a very bizarre thing.
- 1:47:50They gave me more time for every bizarre thing.
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: First of all, the idea that you would go on
- 1:47:54after someone. Who went on before you? Stephen Miller?
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: No, not even.
- 1:47:57Speaker 4: Who was it?
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: It was the national anthem with a guy painting a
- 1:48:02painting of things. Actually, no, he went on after me.
- 1:48:05I went on right after the national anthem.
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: But someone had some kind of like rah-rah speech.
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: Make America great again. I wish there was. That all
- 1:48:13came like way after me, which is crazy. They just
- 1:48:16had me on the wrong position on the thing.
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: And. You should only do stand-up where people are doing stand-up.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: Totally. Totally.
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: It doesn't work. Totally. It's like. But you got to say.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: But then again, it did work in-house. The place isn't
- 1:48:31miked for stand-up comedy or lit for stand-up or anything
- 1:48:35like it.
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: No, they were laughing.
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: They were having a good old time.
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: Well, they were probably happy that something wasn't stiff and boring.
- 1:48:41Taxes and fucking tariffs.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: I mean, Rudy Giuliani went on like three hours after me.
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: That's crazy. Yeah.
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: It was a nuts all day. It was a super
- 1:48:52long thing. My point being is that it always surprises
- 1:48:55me that I'm the news, even though I'm, because if
- 1:49:00someone else said it, if it was a politician that
- 1:49:02did it or someone else, someone high up in the administration,
- 1:49:07that would make sense. Same thing with the roast. If
- 1:49:09it was a clean comedian, right? If Nate Bargatze or
- 1:49:13Jim Gaffigan were on it and they said that, that's crazy.
- 1:49:17Me saying it, that's normal.
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: They don't know that though. See, the thing is, it's like,
- 1:49:23you've achieved a level of fame that like really snuck
- 1:49:26up on people over the last couple of years. You know,
- 1:49:29it's because the rise of Kill Tony has been completely organic.
- 1:49:35Like there's been no promotion of Kill Tony that made
- 1:49:38it become what it is. It's all just people sharing
- 1:49:41it on YouTube, sharing it online. That's all it is.
- 1:49:43Clips and these moments, you know, and then You know,
- 1:49:48obviously the Shane moments and all the Kyle Dunnigan. It's
- 1:49:52been just so many amazing moments. It's such a good show.
- 1:49:55It came organically. And then you got to this point
- 1:49:58over the last couple of years where like, oh, we
- 1:49:59got to pay attention to this fucking guy. And then
- 1:50:02after they started attacking you from the White House thing
- 1:50:05or the Madison Square Garden thing rather, which is 2024,
- 1:50:07then it was on. Then it's on like Donkey Kong, right?
- 1:50:11So that's two years later. So now you're a guy
- 1:50:14that they go to like to get mad at. And
- 1:50:17there's a bunch of people like that online. That's their business.
- 1:50:20Their business is people are mad at them. They have
- 1:50:22hot takes. People are mad at them. I mean that's–
- 1:50:25so you've fallen into that category. And so there's going
- 1:50:30to be people that genuinely don't like what you did
- 1:50:32and don't like you. And then there's going to be
- 1:50:34people that are just using it as a commodity. They're
- 1:50:37just using it as outrage, which is part of what
- 1:50:39the game is. This is what they do in their
- 1:50:43engagement process. fucking game that they play. And it's kind
- 1:50:47of what we do in the joke game.
- 1:50:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: You know, you get engagement, you get people to laugh. They,
- 1:50:52you say outrageous things that you don't even really mean,
- 1:50:55but it's because it's a funny thing to say. It's
- 1:50:57just like, I always say, Bob Marley didn't really shoot
- 1:51:00the sheriff. You know that, right? Right. It's like, it's
- 1:51:03just jokes. Like when you say inappropriate shit on purpose,
- 1:51:07I mean, that is like, everybody used to know that.
- 1:51:10Like Louis CK was a very left wing progressive guy.
- 1:51:14When he was saying really fucked up things that he
- 1:51:17didn't mean on purpose because they were funny.
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: Like that was what he did. And everybody was fine
- 1:51:22with it until somewhere around. It seems like it was
- 1:51:27like 2016, 2000. Like it started to turn a corner
- 1:51:31where it became like people are starting to take these
- 1:51:33things as statements rather than as comedy material. And they
- 1:51:39started trying to pretend that the person really means this.
- 1:51:42Like that's where it got crazy. And that happened around
- 1:51:46the time where social media really came into prominence. Because
- 1:51:49before that, there was no real avenue to do that.
- 1:51:52There's no real avenue to pretend you were really deeply upset.
- 1:51:55I mean, I'm sure there's some people that were upset,
- 1:51:59but there's also a lot of like people that are
- 1:52:01just ill. They're online all the time on these social
- 1:52:04media apps, just arguing and spitting out venom and yelling
- 1:52:08at people and they yell at them. It's like, They're
- 1:52:10in hell all day long. And any time something comes
- 1:52:12along they could be upset at, they have to have
- 1:52:15their take. They have to have that hot take.
- 1:52:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: And if their hot take gets engagement, they're all looking
- 1:52:20at their likes and they just start reengaging with that
- 1:52:24subject and going back on it. And this is the
- 1:52:26real problem. Okay. Good luck with that. That's bad for
- 1:52:30your head, kid. Right. Exactly. Very bad for your head.
- 1:52:33All those people that I know that are like, especially
- 1:52:35comics that are doing it, the comics that are doing it,
- 1:52:38almost all of them don't have good careers. No, all
- 1:52:41of them. Right. None of them have like impressive career,
- 1:52:44especially compared to their contemporaries that are doing well. And
- 1:52:47then on top of it, they're all mentally ill. They're
- 1:52:49all people that are fucking filled up with pharmaceuticals and
- 1:52:53they're going to therapy. They're literally mentally ill and they're
- 1:52:56online talking about fascists. Right. Stop. Get your shit together.
- 1:53:02Your opinion is not that valuable to people because they
- 1:53:05know that you're fucked up. Do you not understand that?
- 1:53:08The way you view the world, it's not a healthy,
- 1:53:12balanced perspective. You're viewing the world in this mentally ill lens.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: Well, the whole online thing doesn't even convert to sold
- 1:53:22tickets or a bigger thing. It's such a temporary drug
- 1:53:26for them to get to fill this void of what
- 1:53:29they're not doing.
- 1:53:31Speaker 4: Right. It doesn't convert to them. People wanting to go
- 1:53:33see them.
- 1:53:34Speaker 5: No.
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: I mean, some people, maybe they get like a little
- 1:53:36juice out of it, but it's not enough because you're
- 1:53:39also opening the door. If you do become popular, you
- 1:53:41have to understand that if you've been spitting hate at
- 1:53:43people for a decade and then you become popular, boy,
- 1:53:47that hate's coming your way. Oh yeah. It's coming your way,
- 1:53:50you know? And I mean, this is one of the
- 1:53:52things that I said after the Mencia stuff, I said,
- 1:53:55even though I think it was the right thing to do,
- 1:53:57I wouldn't do it again. Because it's just too much.
- 1:53:59It's just too much. You just feel the darkness of
- 1:54:04it all. It's all negative. It's all negative. Even though
- 1:54:07it had to be done because you've got this guy
- 1:54:09with it. It showed me how completely absent of morals
- 1:54:16and ethics the business is. Completely absent. They knew what
- 1:54:20he was doing and they did not care. They didn't
- 1:54:23care because they were profiting from it. This is the
- 1:54:26conversation that I had with my agent when they were
- 1:54:27dumping me. I told them, I go, you're making a
- 1:54:30mistake right now that's going to affect the rest of
- 1:54:33your life. You have to understand the choice that you're making.
- 1:54:35You're choosing to align with someone who in any other industry,
- 1:54:40that person would be in jail.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:54:42Speaker 4: And also if this was in literature or if this
- 1:54:45was in music, they would be sued into high heaven.
- 1:54:48Like there's songs that like they don't even seem like
- 1:54:52they're that close to each other. And people had to
- 1:54:55give like songwriting credits to it. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Like songs,
- 1:55:00like people get inspired by certain songs and then they
- 1:55:04write a song that sounds close enough that there's a
- 1:55:09rhythm to it that people get upset.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: Well, there's only so many notes and so many chords
- 1:55:14and there's only so many beats and so much timing.
- 1:55:17And it's often the same thing with comedy. Like there's
- 1:55:21some comedy. crossovers in a writer's room, which I've been
- 1:55:24in so many of, so many people writing on the
- 1:55:27same subject will have the same joke. It's only when
- 1:55:31it's like what Mencia was doing, word for word, long form.
- 1:55:35Speaker 4: Well, that was a different thing. He was a buccaneer.
- 1:55:39That was a totally different thing. But there's songs like, okay,
- 1:55:43so I was listening to this video the other day,
- 1:55:45or watching this video the other day, rather, that was
- 1:55:47comparing Radiohead's Creep to an older song and they had
- 1:55:54to give creep, uh, Radiohead rather had to give this
- 1:55:57older song writing credits for this, which sounds so different.
- 1:56:02And then Radiohead accused Lana Del Rey or someone from
- 1:56:06their organization accused Lana Del Rey of having a song
- 1:56:10that ripped off creep or was sounded too much like creep.
- 1:56:14And it did sound a little like creep, but it
- 1:56:15was very different. Like it should be, obviously this is
- 1:56:18like inspired by it. Right. If that's like Elvis Presley's
- 1:56:23entire career was inspired by black musicians, like the way
- 1:56:28he danced and moved and the way he sang. So
- 1:56:31it's like, what are we doing? Like there's stealing and
- 1:56:34then there's inspired by. Inspired by is what we were
- 1:56:36all doing. It's like we were talking about that computer earlier,
- 1:56:39that chip manufacturing thing. That thing was built on the
- 1:56:42back of all the fucking super wizard geniuses that have
- 1:56:45been working on all the different technology that led to
- 1:56:48that being. You can't just invent that in a vacuum.
- 1:56:51You have to invent that on all these other inventions
- 1:56:55that have taken place for decades before you. This is
- 1:56:59like with music. It's interesting how litigious they are. Maybe
- 1:57:04it's because they're run by a certain group of people.
- 1:57:07But they're so good at suing people. Like Bittersweet Symphony.
- 1:57:13You remember that song? Yeah, totally. They had to give
- 1:57:15all their money to the Stones. Yep. Because it was,
- 1:57:18what song? It's... Let's ask perplexity. While Tony is.
- 1:57:27Or while Jamie, rather, is.
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: Oh, I can't do that. That's right.
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: Oh, we have to do it.
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: I know. Are you? If, if, I mean, we learned
- 1:57:36this the hard way because I have an actual band
- 1:57:39that can play anything and everything. And years ago they
- 1:57:42could play anything and everything. Our old episodes hold, um,
- 1:57:48Cause you know, I'd literally be to a, you know,
- 1:57:50a shy person. I'd be like, what do you, you know,
- 1:57:52you ever do karaoke?
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: They're like, yes.
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: I'd go, what song do you sing? And then they go,
- 1:57:56they go dah, dah, dah, dah. And I literally, they
- 1:57:58would go right into it. And now you can't hum
- 1:58:01a song for a few seconds.
- 1:58:03Speaker 4: So bittersweet symphony was a sample from, uh, the Verve
- 1:58:07developed bittersweet symphony from a sample from a 1965 version
- 1:58:11of Rolling Stone song. The last time, uh, adding vocal strings, guitar,
- 1:58:17and percussion after a lawsuit by the Rolling Stones, former manager,
- 1:58:21Alan Klein, the Verve relinquished all royalties to the Rolling
- 1:58:24Stones members, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who, uh, were
- 1:58:27also added to the songwriting credits. Wow. 2019, 10 years
- 1:58:32after Klein's death, Jagger, Richards, and Klein's son ceded the
- 1:58:35rights to the Verve songwriter Richard Ashcroft because he was
- 1:58:39probably broke.
- 1:58:40Speaker 3: There's similar things that have happened recently with, I think,
- 1:58:43Olivia Rodrigo and Paramore and then Puff Daddy.
- 1:58:47Speaker 4: Yeah. Can you please look up the other one that
- 1:58:50I set up, though, which was Radiohead, Creep, Lana Del
- 1:58:54Rey and Radiohead Creep had to give songwriting credits to
- 1:58:58another band.
- 1:58:59Speaker 5: The Hollies.
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: The Hollies, that's right. What was the original song? The
- 1:59:05Air That I Breathe. It's interesting. Let's listen to them.
- 1:59:10See if you can find that there's a comparison video
- 1:59:12that I watched on YouTube. See if you can find that.
- 1:59:17Because it's interesting how they say the first one and
- 1:59:22you're like, geez, I don't see it. We'll have to
- 1:59:24edit this out, ladies and gentlemen, but you can find
- 1:59:26it yourself. Radiohead's Creep versus Lana Del Rey's Get Free
- 1:59:29versus the Holly's The Air That I Breathe. Yeah, that
- 1:59:31was a live version of it, but if you hear
- 1:59:34the recorded version of it, it's even more. You could see.
- 1:59:39But people get inspired by things. I get it, though.
- 1:59:44I get it in those cases, especially at the beginning
- 1:59:46of the Holly's song and then the beginning of Radiohead.
- 1:59:48I'm sort of dead on. Yeah. they're set in a
- 1:59:53mood like a very specific mood.
- 1:59:55Speaker 1: Have you ever seen how the guy from here's a
- 1:59:57crazy one the guy from the gorillas the song clint
- 2:00:02eastwood i think it is he had a like one
- 2:00:04of those like little kids kind of keyboards and he
- 2:00:09hit the demo button because like oftentimes it'll just have
- 2:00:12a regular song or whatever and um it's the entire
- 2:00:18backbone of their biggest hit um You'd have to pull
- 2:00:23it up, I guess, to understand, but it's that. Yeah,
- 2:00:25there it is. So that's just on the thing.
- 2:00:32Speaker 4: Wow.
- 2:00:33Speaker 1: And somehow they got away with it.
- 2:00:37Speaker 5: Wow.
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: And then all they do from there is just, yeah.
- 2:00:42Speaker 4: That's the preset. It's the rock one preset. That's so crazy.
- 2:00:51They used that. They used a preset from one of
- 2:00:55them little machines, like a toy.
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: And much like the fucking crazy jokes that end up
- 2:01:01getting me in trouble, I bet they don't even think
- 2:01:02that's going to be the hit. You know what I mean?
- 2:01:05They're probably not like, this is the song that's going
- 2:01:08to fly off the shelves.
- 2:01:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but other people see it, Tony. I was the
- 2:01:10one who told you you were going to get stabbed
- 2:01:11for the Puerto Rican joke.
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: That was so many years later. It's crazy. I was
- 2:01:17doing that joke during the pandemic to the point to
- 2:01:20where it got extended to where you were part of it.
- 2:01:22And what's funny is I left those tags of the
- 2:01:25longer joke out of the Trump rally one, which probably
- 2:01:28would have protected me. It probably would have saved it going, ah,
- 2:01:32it's going to get me stabbed, whatever. You know what
- 2:01:34I mean?
- 2:01:34Speaker 4: Then you would have to do the Amy Schumer joke.
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there was a lot to it.
- 2:01:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:01:38Speaker 1: People don't realize that that's a small bit of a
- 2:01:42much bigger chunk at the time.
- 2:01:44Speaker 4: Well, that's why it should be in a set. Comedy
- 2:01:47is such a weird art form. Look, I love it
- 2:01:50to death, but real comedy should be seen in person.
- 2:01:55Stan Hope said this once. It was like everything we
- 2:01:57do on TV is just to try to get people
- 2:01:58to come see us in the clubs. That's really what
- 2:02:00it is. You just really want people to go there
- 2:02:03live because that's the real fun. The real fun is
- 2:02:06all us, a bunch of human beings, fucking around and
- 2:02:09having a good time. Right. As soon as you start
- 2:02:11taking it seriously and making it something that it's not
- 2:02:13like you're, I get why you're doing it because that
- 2:02:18has become a thing that people do today. But I'm
- 2:02:21just saying like for your own mental health, just not,
- 2:02:24it's not good for you to be engaging. Like I
- 2:02:26was saying about the Carl's thing, like just engaging in conflict.
- 2:02:29It's not good. It's not good for you. It's bad
- 2:02:31for you. It feels bad. It's not good. It's not–
- 2:02:36there's negative energy and positive energy. You should spend as
- 2:02:39much of your time possible on things that make positive energy.
- 2:02:44I know that sounds hippie because I'm a little bit
- 2:02:46of hippie. I got a lot of hippie in me.
- 2:02:48But that's what I believe. I believe you should spend
- 2:02:50as much of your time having fun, making people laugh,
- 2:02:54having a good time and less about dwelling on shit. Yeah.
- 2:02:58That's why I try to stay off Twitter. Because when
- 2:03:01I get on, I just start freaking out at all
- 2:03:03the different news stories that are just abomination after abomination.
- 2:03:08We're just so angry.
- 2:03:09Speaker 1: It's just impossible now. And, you know, it used to
- 2:03:12be Twitter was Twitter and this and that. But really,
- 2:03:15it's just the news. X is the news.
- 2:03:18Speaker 4: It is the news.
- 2:03:18Speaker 1: And it's so hard to... absorb that. It was fun
- 2:03:24and you know, it's cool and all. And my algorithm
- 2:03:26still shows me stuff that I love police chases gone
- 2:03:30wrong and, and UFC highlights and all of this stuff.
- 2:03:34But all the stuff around that is just crazy. I
- 2:03:38did a thing because I was staying at a hotel in, um, in, uh, D.C.
- 2:03:45right after the State of the Union or something. Anyway,
- 2:03:50I'm like, OK, it's a hotel TV. I never get
- 2:03:52to watch regular TV. I'm going to be asleep in
- 2:03:55a few minutes anyway. So I threw on I ended
- 2:03:59up going by CNN. I'm like, let's see what these
- 2:04:01wackos are saying over here. Let's see how fake the
- 2:04:04news can possibly be, because. from what I understand, the
- 2:04:08most recent state of the union was a solid state
- 2:04:10of the union and very positive and long and entertaining.
- 2:04:14Let's see what they say. Oh, racism. This, he caused
- 2:04:17the deaths of black people here. He's the reason why we,
- 2:04:21why America's failing. It's the reason why we're the laughing
- 2:04:24stock of the country. It made me so stressed out.
- 2:04:27And I'm like, okay, well, let's see what Fox news
- 2:04:30is saying. And it was crazy over there. And then
- 2:04:33you have, what do they say? Uh, Well, they had
- 2:04:36their counterpoint person on, unlike CNN, where they're just all
- 2:04:40in agreeance.
- 2:04:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:04:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: And going by six people literally going, yeah, he's the worst.
- 2:04:47And let's not forget that he doesn't think trans people
- 2:04:50deserve this and this. Like they're just going on and
- 2:04:52on about straight doom. And Fox News had a counterpoint
- 2:04:56person that was stressing me out. And, you know, I
- 2:05:00swear to God, I'm not kidding. This is not a joke.
- 2:05:03I was flipping through the different channels. I go by MSNBC.
- 2:05:06I'm like, oh my God, this is crazy. I put
- 2:05:09on Silence of the Lambs.
- 2:05:11Speaker 4: To calm yourself down?
- 2:05:12Speaker 1: I swear to God, I was asleep five minutes later.
- 2:05:17And I ended up, it just coincidentally was on the
- 2:05:19Buffalo Bill part where he's got a girl in a well.
- 2:05:23Speaker 4: Puts the lotion in the basket.
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: Pure darkness. And I'm like, finally some peace on the
- 2:05:30cable television. I never get to just watch normal TV.
- 2:05:33Speaker 4: So did Fox News have a positive spin on the
- 2:05:35State of the Union address? I did not watch it.
- 2:05:37Speaker 1: I remember for some reason it was stressing me out,
- 2:05:40whatever was going on. Because, like, at least Fox has,
- 2:05:44they'll argue still, like the news used to be. They'll
- 2:05:47have both sides on and kind of talk it out.
- 2:05:51And CNN has that poor guy, that poor one guy
- 2:05:54that just takes all the bullets for everybody. He's just going,
- 2:05:58you're lying. That stat doesn't exist.
- 2:06:00Speaker 4: Scott Jennings? Yes. Yeah.
- 2:06:03Speaker 1: That poor guy, he probably has months to live. He
- 2:06:06takes so many bullets every day. He's a fucking war
- 2:06:10hero out there.
- 2:06:12Speaker 4: It's a very turbulent world when it comes to discourse.
- 2:06:16Everybody's mad at everybody else. It's really weird to watch.
- 2:06:20It's really weird to watch these shows on CNN now
- 2:06:23that are basically like bad podcasts that get interrupted every
- 2:06:26five minutes for a commercial. It's really what it's like.
- 2:06:29I just don't– I don't remember it being that way
- 2:06:31where it's just so many panel opinion shows. I remember
- 2:06:35it was– like CNN used to have Bourdain's show on. Well,
- 2:06:40they would travel around the country and– check out or
- 2:06:43travel around the world and check out food. And it
- 2:06:46was interesting.
- 2:06:47Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:06:47Speaker 4: And he would, you know, give you his perspective on
- 2:06:49the cultures and all the problems and the things that
- 2:06:53these people are facing, their food and what the, what
- 2:06:56the community was like. Fucking great show. They did a
- 2:06:59bunch of different shows that were different, you know, and
- 2:07:02then somewhere along the line, man, they just went all outrage.
- 2:07:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:07:07Speaker 4: And I don't think that's going to get any different now.
- 2:07:10I mean now it looks like Barry Weiss is going
- 2:07:12to be running that as well. So she's running the
- 2:07:15CBS News and perhaps she's going to be running CNN.
- 2:07:18The same company is going to be running CNN. It's like, okay.
- 2:07:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:07:22Speaker 4: Good luck. Good luck because people already don't want to listen.
- 2:07:26They don't want to take it seriously.
- 2:07:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:07:28Speaker 4: And that's why X has become the news. The reason
- 2:07:31why it's become the news is because they can't trust
- 2:07:32the news. Right. Totally. Totally.
- 2:07:35Speaker 1: It's crazy over there.
- 2:07:36Speaker 4: Tim Dillon had these two New York Times reporters on
- 2:07:38his podcast, and I listened to him talking about it.
- 2:07:41I hadn't listened to them on the podcast, but I
- 2:07:43listened to him talking about it. And he was saying
- 2:07:46that they said there's no evidence that Jeffrey Epstein was intelligent.
- 2:07:50And I was like, what? What? There's no– watch one
- 2:07:55Mike Benz episode of my podcast where he breaks it down.
- 2:07:58It's almost embarrassing. that he's not. Like what the fuck
- 2:08:03are you– like no evidence? No, that's not true. There's
- 2:08:05just evidence that you're not considering. So it's like if
- 2:08:09the New York Times and the people that we're always
- 2:08:11supposed to trust to be the objective purveyors of all
- 2:08:13that's going on in the world, if they're compromised, so
- 2:08:16they're not allowed to say things. Or they have narratives
- 2:08:19that they're supposed to spin one way or another. Or
- 2:08:21they're very cautious about being honest about their opinion, very
- 2:08:25shielded about their actual opinions. Either one of those is
- 2:08:29not good. Or if they actually believe that, that's not
- 2:08:31good either because that means you're not really paying attention objectively.
- 2:08:36Like watch a Mike Benz episode where he breaks down
- 2:08:39Epstein's connections. It's nuts. The whole thing is nuts. It's
- 2:08:44crazy that anybody could say that he wasn't intelligent.
- 2:08:48Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no doubt about it. But they will do
- 2:08:50anything to push their own story.
- 2:08:53Speaker 4: They don't. Yeah, it's a propaganda network. Yeah. And whatever
- 2:08:57that propaganda is, I mean, that propaganda will shift depending
- 2:09:00upon who's in control of the realm of the reins, rather.
- 2:09:04The realm really is a realm, realm of nonsense. Well,
- 2:09:07whoever's in control, they're going to be the ones that
- 2:09:09dictate how the narrative goes. And it's always going to
- 2:09:12be whatever the sponsors are. That's why you never hear
- 2:09:15anything about. Any of these studies that they're showing about
- 2:09:19the vaccine safety signals that they found very early on,
- 2:09:22how they hit it, all this Fauci stuff, they're not
- 2:09:25showing any of that. The Tulsi Gabbard speech, we talked
- 2:09:28about that, where she gave this speech explaining how he
- 2:09:31lied to Congress and Fauci pressured these other scientists to
- 2:09:36change their perspective on whether or not it was gain-of-function research.
- 2:09:40Speaker 1: Yeah, the shit that we had a pretty big feeling
- 2:09:42about back in 2020.
- 2:09:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:09:44Speaker 4: You don't hear any of these people. They're not covering it.
- 2:09:47And they can't because they can't really tell you the
- 2:09:50whole news. They can only tell you the news they're
- 2:09:51approved to tell you. That's not good. And that's how
- 2:09:54X comes about. That's how X becomes the place where
- 2:09:57everybody trusts. But then you go to X and it's
- 2:09:59just filled with horseshit. There's so much lies. There's always
- 2:10:03video of something happening and they're saying, this is going
- 2:10:07on right now. And you're like, And then someone says, no,
- 2:10:09this is a video from 2022. Right. This is in,
- 2:10:12you know, this part of the world.
- 2:10:13Speaker 1: This is AI.
- 2:10:14Speaker 4: This is China. This is not Israel. This is, you know,
- 2:10:17it's like there's so much horseshit and there's so many bots. Yeah.
- 2:10:21It's like you just dip your toe into the water
- 2:10:24and you just feel poisoned. Like, I got to get
- 2:10:26out of here. Yeah. But then you feel irresponsible for
- 2:10:29not paying attention.
- 2:10:30Speaker 1: Exactly. You know, I feel like so many people feel
- 2:10:33like they're doing the right thing, watching the news and
- 2:10:36being informed. And they hear it. that the news is
- 2:10:39fake and they think that's just like a Trump talking point.
- 2:10:42I've always said that Trump calling it fake news was
- 2:10:44like one of the worst things that could happen because
- 2:10:47then it sounds like a Trump thing. And the Trump
- 2:10:50enemies go, Oh, fake news.
- 2:10:51Speaker 4: Sure.
- 2:10:52Speaker 1: It's fake. If he's saying it, then it can't be
- 2:10:54fake because we have to disagree with him. Meanwhile, it's
- 2:10:58a fucking, it's a goddamn production. I mean, it is
- 2:11:02fake and they're right.
- 2:11:04Speaker 4: It's fake. Yeah, it's fake. A lot of the news
- 2:11:07is fake. It's not true.
- 2:11:08Speaker 5: All that.
- 2:11:08Speaker 4: I mean, the fact that no one got in trouble
- 2:11:11for all that Russiagate stuff.
- 2:11:13Speaker 1: Crazy. Absolutely crazy.
- 2:11:15Speaker 4: And that there's still the same people that were pushing
- 2:11:18that Russiagate shit. They're still giving opinions on TV.
- 2:11:22Speaker 5: Right.
- 2:11:22Speaker 4: It's nuts. Yeah.
- 2:11:23Speaker 1: There's no repercussions to be found. They get to say
- 2:11:26whatever they want. It's crazy.
- 2:11:30Speaker 4: Well, the repercussion is no one takes them seriously. And
- 2:11:34that's real. They've suffered that. I mean, we've seen that
- 2:11:37in real time. And I think the pandemic was the big,
- 2:11:41that was the big wake-up call for a lot of people,
- 2:11:43especially people that were forced to take the vaccine because
- 2:11:46they had jobs or, you know, they had to fly
- 2:11:49or they had family members. And then they got some
- 2:11:53horrible side effect. And those people got what they call red-pilled,
- 2:11:57you know. I know a lot of people that got
- 2:11:59red-pilled from that. They just can't take it anymore.
- 2:12:03Speaker 1: It's crazy. And it's... You know what I mean? There's
- 2:12:07certain areas geographically in which that's the mentality and they
- 2:12:13stick to it. I mean, here in Austin, I'm known as,
- 2:12:19you know, a skinny little faggot. I went to L.A.
- 2:12:24and it turns out I'm a racist Nazi. Like, I'm like,
- 2:12:27they were doing jokes on me at that roast in
- 2:12:29which it's like, what are you guys talking about? There's
- 2:12:33parts where I'm literally like, what the fuck? I've never
- 2:12:35even heard this about myself. I'm on a comedy show
- 2:12:38every week where people take shots at me and I've,
- 2:12:41none of this is a thing.
- 2:12:43Speaker 4: Well, it's made up and it's all, they also made
- 2:12:45up a bunch of stuff about like you going to
- 2:12:47Saudi Arabia, which is crazy. Right.
- 2:12:51Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 2:12:52Speaker 4: They just made it up. Yeah.
- 2:12:53Speaker 1: Not only made it up, turned it down. Like didn't
- 2:12:56go when offered permission. Vast sums of money that the busboy,
- 2:13:00bagboy Tony would never imagine turning down.
- 2:13:04Speaker 4: And people don't even know that you turned it down. Right.
- 2:13:06Because you haven't been public about it. Right.
- 2:13:08Speaker 1: I mentioned it. I glazed over it for one moment
- 2:13:12on Kill Tony once.
- 2:13:13Speaker 4: But yes. The people that turned down that money are
- 2:13:16you and Shane Gillis. Yeah.
- 2:13:17Speaker 1: And meanwhile, Netflix clipped that. and pinned it on their Instagram,
- 2:13:23that joke. And with the caption long sip because I'm
- 2:13:26sipping my water because the joke isn't on me. So
- 2:13:28the camera shouldn't be on me. Meanwhile, they're getting my
- 2:13:31reaction shot to all you guys took that Saudi Arabian
- 2:13:35money and it makes it look like I'm offended or
- 2:13:38something or guilty of taking Saudi Arabian money.
- 2:13:41Speaker 4: But just a joke when you just lie about a
- 2:13:43fact and to make a joke. is crazy because you're
- 2:13:48just lying. Like that's, there's a difference between that and
- 2:13:51making a joke about something. Like you had to make
- 2:13:54something true and then criticize them for something. So you
- 2:13:57had to lie about something and then criticize them about
- 2:13:59that lie that you just invented. Yeah. Which takes three
- 2:14:03seconds to find out it wasn't true.
- 2:14:05Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 2:14:06Speaker 4: It takes a really quick search. Like, Oh, he didn't go. Right. Okay.
- 2:14:10Speaker 1: On the contrary, the guys that, Chelsea was complimenting during
- 2:14:15that set, basically. Kevin Hart and Pete Davidson did take
- 2:14:19the money and went to Saudi Arabia.
- 2:14:21Speaker 4: Also, you don't think Chelsea Handler would have taken that
- 2:14:23money if they offered her to go to Saudi Arabia?
- 2:14:25She went to dinner at Epstein's house.
- 2:14:27Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 2:14:27Speaker 4: What the fuck are we talking about?
- 2:14:28Speaker 1: But it's all right, because Woody Allen was there.
- 2:14:30Speaker 4: Yeah. And apparently she gave him the what have you.
- 2:14:34She told him. That's what they said. She told him.
- 2:14:37She was very upset with him.
- 2:14:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:14:40Speaker 4: Yeah, at the intelligence agent slash sexual predator's house. Yeah.
- 2:14:45Guys who are arrested for statutory rape. That's fine, though.
- 2:14:51Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 2:14:52Speaker 4: Just, yeah, don't be a white guy.
- 2:14:55Speaker 1: It's enough.
- 2:14:56Speaker 4: It's just the whole thing is so stupid. Like if
- 2:14:59you want to make fun of someone for anything, for,
- 2:15:02you know, you looking gay or you like you're down
- 2:15:04with that. But when you invent a fact that's not true,
- 2:15:08you say it's not true, and then you criticize someone
- 2:15:10for that. Like, that's stupid. That's a stupid way to
- 2:15:13do comedy. Yeah. You know?
- 2:15:15Speaker 1: And the way that it's covered and everything, it's like,
- 2:15:17what are you guys doing?
- 2:15:19Speaker 4: Well, if you didn't know, and people didn't know, obviously,
- 2:15:23because they laughed. They thought maybe you did go, or
- 2:15:26maybe Shane did go. They didn't know that you were
- 2:15:27the two people that did say no. You know, Jessica
- 2:15:31Curzon went, and she got criticized so much, she gave
- 2:15:34her money away. She gave the money away. I think
- 2:15:37she gave, what did she do with the money? Find
- 2:15:40out what she did. But I was like, oh man, listen,
- 2:15:42those people that went to see Jessica curse. First of all,
- 2:15:45I heard she murdered over there. She's very funny. She's
- 2:15:48a fucking dynamo. She's a killer on stage. Very, very entertaining.
- 2:15:52Lovely lady. I love her to death. She's fun to
- 2:15:54talk to. She fucking murdered over there. I heard. So
- 2:15:59a lesbian woman from New York went to Saudi Arabia.
- 2:16:03Look at, Donates Riyadh Comedy Festival fee to human rights campaign. Well,
- 2:16:11all that money is going to someone's payroll. Yeah.
- 2:16:13Speaker 1: It's going to a daycare center in Minneapolis.
- 2:16:16Speaker 4: Yeah, you feel better. But meanwhile, it's paying for someone's
- 2:16:19salary that's probably not fixing homelessness or whatever the fuck
- 2:16:22it is. That's what they do. Tom Segura went and
- 2:16:26put a photo of a Ferrari and said, thanks, Saudi Arabia. Yeah.
- 2:16:32But everybody was very upset. But my perspective is the
- 2:16:36people that are in that audience, if you're upset at
- 2:16:39the people that are paying and organizing, OK, the people
- 2:16:43that are in that audience, though, that they're performing to,
- 2:16:45they don't get a chance to see American stand-up comedy.
- 2:16:48And they're getting a chance to see it live. And
- 2:16:50stand-up comedy, like music, like literature, changes people's minds. It
- 2:16:55changes all art where you see someone, a different person
- 2:16:59than you with a totally different perspective. that lives on
- 2:17:02another side of the world that says something that you
- 2:17:03think is hilarious and you love, it changes people's perspectives.
- 2:17:09You win hearts and minds. I mean that's real. Like
- 2:17:11you can change the world a little bit by getting
- 2:17:14people to say, hey, we kind of are– we all
- 2:17:17have a lot of shared interests. We just want to
- 2:17:20have fun. We just want to be with our friends,
- 2:17:22be with our family and do what we want to do.
- 2:17:25Like everybody wants that, including those people in the audience.
- 2:17:28Like those people in the audience in Saudi Arabia were
- 2:17:30just Saudi Arabian citizens. There's just a bunch of people
- 2:17:32that live there that came out to see comedy, like
- 2:17:35performing in front of them. I mean, what is wrong
- 2:17:40with that? It's wrong. You're supposed to boycott it because
- 2:17:45the people that run it probably were involved with the
- 2:17:48killing of Jamal Khashoggi and some way, or the people
- 2:17:50that finance it. Okay. Maybe. I see how you didn't
- 2:17:57want to do it, and I see how Shane didn't
- 2:17:58want to do it, and I probably wouldn't want to
- 2:18:00do it either, but I don't have any problem with
- 2:18:02people doing it. I think at the end of the day,
- 2:18:05just like I don't have any problem with Saudi Arabia
- 2:18:06putting on these boxing matches that I talked about. I
- 2:18:08love That they put on these boxing matches. And oddly enough,
- 2:18:11that's not really criticized that much. Even by like heavy
- 2:18:15duty left wing MMA media, which is a real thing.
- 2:18:19There's a lot of like shit, shit libs that are
- 2:18:22MMA media because they're journalists and they just happen to
- 2:18:26be fans. But they have that like hardcore left wing perspective.
- 2:18:29They don't seem to have that much of a problem
- 2:18:31with it. Not like people had the problem with the
- 2:18:33comics over there where guys like Louie and Bill Burr,
- 2:18:36they just get destroyed for that. Yeah.
- 2:18:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's nuts.
- 2:18:41Speaker 4: But I think Segura had the right move. Just don't
- 2:18:44even pay attention. Fuck off. I'm going to perform wherever
- 2:18:47I want to perform. You know? Yeah.
- 2:18:50Speaker 1: No, it makes sense.
- 2:18:51Speaker 4: Totally.
- 2:18:52Speaker 1: I just can't go straight from a Trump rally to
- 2:18:55Saudi Arabia. A little bit of a hop, a skip,
- 2:18:58and a jump.
- 2:19:00Speaker 4: I know. It's also, it's like, you know, is that
- 2:19:04what you want to do? I don't want to go there.
- 2:19:05It's too long. Right. I want to be on a
- 2:19:07plane for 16 hours to go anywhere. Yeah, exactly.
- 2:19:09Speaker 3: Why?
- 2:19:10Speaker 1: I hate it. I hate flying.
- 2:19:11Speaker 4: Yeah, fuck off.
- 2:19:12Speaker 1: It's terrible.
- 2:19:14Speaker 4: Come to Texas. Yeah.
- 2:19:16Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:19:18Speaker 4: It's just we live in a very polarized society, and
- 2:19:21I think a large part of that is what we
- 2:19:23were talking about earlier with social media and mentally ill
- 2:19:25people just screaming into the fucking void every day. I
- 2:19:30just would like to suggest to people just try not
- 2:19:34to engage like that for a month and see how
- 2:19:37much better you feel. Yeah. Just try it.
- 2:19:39Speaker 1: Talk and make friends.
- 2:19:40Speaker 4: And hopefully that's not how you've set up your life
- 2:19:42where you have to do that for a living. Hopefully
- 2:19:44you're not one of those people because there are people
- 2:19:46that are paid posters and they make a pretty good
- 2:19:48living just posting and getting engagement. Well, you know, I
- 2:19:53don't know what to tell you. You're trapped. Right. You know,
- 2:19:56if your whole thing is like shitting on people all
- 2:19:58day long, you're kind of trapped. Yeah. But you can't
- 2:20:01feel good. There's no way. No. There's no way. It's
- 2:20:05like the amount of cortisol that must be pumping through
- 2:20:08your body all day where you're going over. And I
- 2:20:10see like people that do that. I see how they
- 2:20:13get destroyed in the replies. And I'm like– and I
- 2:20:16know they're reading that. Like good lord. Yeah. Like I
- 2:20:21don't know how Gavin Newsom is still alive. Every time
- 2:20:23he posts something, the way he gets destroyed in those
- 2:20:26comments is like fucking insane. Well, no one is happy.
- 2:20:32Speaker 1: It's just the funniest thing because it's– He reminds me
- 2:20:35of like one of the last actual politicians. Like he's
- 2:20:40a different just lying, ignoring of facts type of human
- 2:20:45being because we're witnessing it. Maybe it's easy for someone in,
- 2:20:52I don't know, New Hampshire to go, ah, that Gavin
- 2:20:55Newsom's the future. But we lived in California and I've
- 2:21:00been to San Francisco recently and we've seen it. Like
- 2:21:03when you travel, you know, comedians aren't the end-all be-all
- 2:21:08and these wise whatever sages perhaps. But we do travel
- 2:21:12a lot. And you spend a weekend in a city.
- 2:21:15And you're not just doing your shows. You're having lunch somewhere.
- 2:21:19You're having coffee somewhere. You're dealing with the people at
- 2:21:21the hotel lot. Whatever it may be. There's different communications
- 2:21:24and vibes and energies. And there's so many of these places,
- 2:21:27especially California. you know, San Diego is like a last stand.
- 2:21:32Huntington Beach is an area around there. There's like these
- 2:21:36little pockets in which there's still some common sense and happiness.
- 2:21:41Enjoy Newport, all these little pockets. But those major cities
- 2:21:47are fucked, man. Even the drive. And, you know, I
- 2:21:50go to L.A. basically maybe once a year now for
- 2:21:53a quick Always fun visit, always doing some arena and
- 2:21:57a couple nights at the store, which is different, unfortunately.
- 2:22:01But the drive from LAX to that area of West
- 2:22:06Hollywood slash Beverly Hills is gruesome. Everything is for lease.
- 2:22:11Everything is empty. There's nothing new except for the crazy
- 2:22:18looking weird ass Obama Museum Library, which is the craziest,
- 2:22:22weirdest library. eyesore humanly imagine where's that it's like on
- 2:22:27the way up there I can't remember if it's like
- 2:22:29off of La Cienega or fair that's not.
- 2:22:32Speaker 4: The new one because the new one is in Chicago
- 2:22:34isn't it.
- 2:22:35Speaker 1: Oh it is what's the fucking they built something that
- 2:22:38looks just like that monstrosity.
- 2:22:40Speaker 4: The one in Chicago people don't like it I think
- 2:22:42it looks dope it looks like it looks like something
- 2:22:46from Blade Runner yeah I like it a lot of
- 2:22:50people don't like but it cost a lot of money
- 2:22:53It costs like $ 850 million. See if you can find
- 2:22:55out what that building looks like. Show me a photo
- 2:22:58of the Trump building.
- 2:22:59Speaker 1: There's something that looks just like that building.
- 2:23:00Speaker 3: They have a sports complex in Los Angeles they made.
- 2:23:04Speaker 4: Who did the Obamas? Yeah. Oh, okay. That's it. What
- 2:23:08is the one in Chicago? A lot of people were
- 2:23:11criticizing it, and I saw it. I go, that thing
- 2:23:13looks dope. I love it. Like that thing? Where is it? Yeah,
- 2:23:17the one there where your cursor is. Click on that. Oh,
- 2:23:20that's a rendering?
- 2:23:21Speaker 3: I don't think it's done yet.
- 2:23:22Speaker 4: Oh, it's not done? I thought people were in it.
- 2:23:25I don't think so. What's it down there in the lower?
- 2:23:27Speaker 3: I think they just showed this online and everyone was
- 2:23:29going crazy.
- 2:23:30Speaker 4: I thought people were already going to it. I don't
- 2:23:32know that. I think that's it. That looks like a
- 2:23:38rendering to me. That looks fake as fuck. But that
- 2:23:40one down there, that one down there with the darkness
- 2:23:44in the corner, yeah, right there. Is that real?
- 2:23:49Speaker 3: Encyclopedia Britannica? I don't know.
- 2:23:52Speaker 4: I think that's a real photo. I think it's done.
- 2:23:56I might be wrong. Oh, you have Los Angeles, Chicago. Yeah,
- 2:24:06it's real. So it's up. But I think it looks cool.
- 2:24:10It's different. People are saying it's ugly. See if you
- 2:24:16can find photos of it. Go to images. Yeah, there
- 2:24:23we go. Like there. Dude, I think that looks dope.
- 2:24:29Speaker 1: Really? Yeah. That window list.
- 2:24:32Speaker 4: Look at how it has the writing on the top.
- 2:24:33What does it say? Go all the way up, please.
- 2:24:35I'm trying. Oh. Unconstrained convention by what is.
- 2:24:45Speaker 1: It's written on two sides, so... Oh, right.
- 2:24:49Speaker 4: Oh, it goes all the way around it. Oh, that's
- 2:24:51fucking cool. I think that looks cool. I mean, maybe
- 2:24:54I have no taste.
- 2:24:55Speaker 1: I mean, we can't even find an angle of what
- 2:24:58they're trying to say there.
- 2:25:00Speaker 4: Right. I don't know what it's saying, but I think
- 2:25:02it's cool that they did that, that they had words
- 2:25:04that go across like that. I just think it looks sick,
- 2:25:08but I like that kind of brutalist architecture. I think
- 2:25:11that's what they call it.
- 2:25:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:25:13Speaker 4: I like that kind of cool cement with big glass,
- 2:25:15like There's a lot of houses like that, especially like
- 2:25:18in the Hollywood Hills that I love. I looked at
- 2:25:22one of them back when I was starting to make
- 2:25:24that cheddar. And I was like, maybe I should live
- 2:25:27in Hollywood and then I could just do the store
- 2:25:30right there. But I was like, probably not that safe.
- 2:25:34I looked at the house above the store that Mitzi
- 2:25:39was selling. What was on Colfax? Was that what it was?
- 2:25:43Was that those street? It was the comic store, the
- 2:25:45comic house where like Kinison stayed there and Polly lived
- 2:25:49there for a while. But I had dogs and I
- 2:25:52was like, this is not enough backyard. It's too small.
- 2:25:54And also it's like, it's too close to the machine. Yeah.
- 2:25:57It's like right next to the beast. Like, I don't
- 2:25:59know if I want to be like right next to
- 2:26:01the beast. I think I'd rather be outside the beast
- 2:26:03and go visit like that for me, for my head.
- 2:26:06But I looked at a couple of houses up there
- 2:26:08and one of them was this house that was like
- 2:26:11really big. It was out of my budget really. I
- 2:26:13was just– I shouldn't have been looking at it. It
- 2:26:14was like $ 10 million. And it had crazy like concrete
- 2:26:20with massive windows. But it was right there on the street.
- 2:26:26Like you're walking on the street. There's a sidewalk. You
- 2:26:28could lean over and touch the front door of the house.
- 2:26:31I was like, this is kind of crazy to buy
- 2:26:33this house. And the guy was like, don't worry. We
- 2:26:35have a state-of-the-art security system. So I go, yeah, you
- 2:26:37know what that is? I go, your cameras are going
- 2:26:39to catch a guy with a ski mask robbing you. Yeah.
- 2:26:42And two weeks after I said that, the guy in
- 2:26:45the house got shot in it. Whoa. Two weeks. Got
- 2:26:48shot in the neck. Fuck. Yeah.
- 2:26:52Speaker 5: Damn.
- 2:26:53Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah. So. Hey.
- 2:26:56Speaker 1: That's these places, man.
- 2:26:58Speaker 4: But that kind of architecture I think is dope. I
- 2:27:01like like that crazy modern cement stuff. But for a house,
- 2:27:06like what you're going to live in, the reality is
- 2:27:08you'd probably be like, I'm sleeping in a museum. This
- 2:27:10is too weird. Yeah. I'd rather just have a regular house. Yeah.
- 2:27:15Speaker 1: Windows are a necessity.
- 2:27:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:27:17Speaker 4: I just want to see stuff. I just want to
- 2:27:19be able to have a cup of coffee and see
- 2:27:21some trees. You know, let me just sit down and
- 2:27:24fucking collect my thoughts for the day. You know, I
- 2:27:27don't necessarily need to be in a fucking museum. Concrete ass, big.
- 2:27:33It's there's something weird about it. It's like you're too weird.
- 2:27:36If you live like that, you're weird, man. You're living with.
- 2:27:39this giant... 20-foot-high glass wall in front of you that
- 2:27:46looks out at the Blade Runner scape that is Los
- 2:27:49Angeles from the hills. Have you seen that view at night?
- 2:27:52Have you ever been up to a house? Oh, yeah.
- 2:27:53Speaker 1: Have you seen this house?
- 2:27:55Speaker 4: Oh, that's sick. I love that house.
- 2:27:57Speaker 3: It's known as the Oakley Founders House. I don't know
- 2:27:59if he still owns it.
- 2:28:00Speaker 4: Yeah, that's up there. That house I love. See, if
- 2:28:04I was single and a baller, that's where I would live.
- 2:28:06$ 210 million. A bargain. Fucking love that shit. I see
- 2:28:14shit like that. I'm like, Oh my God, that's where
- 2:28:16I love it. But I don't want to live there
- 2:28:18for real. Yeah. I think after a while you would
- 2:28:20be like, I'd rather have a log house.
- 2:28:22Speaker 3: I was trying to find pictures of Kanye's concrete house,
- 2:28:25but this is not the one I was.
- 2:28:26Speaker 4: That's fucking dope. I just love those kinds of houses
- 2:28:29that look like that. Like, especially that one, that circular one,
- 2:28:33the way you pull into that driveway and the, the
- 2:28:36entire back house faces the lights and you see the
- 2:28:40lights and Like, it's hard to see from photos of how,
- 2:28:43look how sick that looks, man. That's sick. I love that.
- 2:28:48But the lights from that, like, if you're up in
- 2:28:51the hills, you want to be above looking down. And
- 2:28:54it's like a movie. It's like a sci-fi movie. It's
- 2:28:56one of the coolest fucking views I've ever seen.
- 2:28:58Speaker 1: Pauly has the fucking, as crazy as it sounds, that motherfucker,
- 2:29:02when he made it, he bought a house that's on top, top, top, top,
- 2:29:06top of the Hollywood Hills.
- 2:29:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:29:08Speaker 1: With that MTV money.
- 2:29:09Speaker 4: Yeah. Dude.
- 2:29:11Speaker 1: It's crazy he remodeled it recently when i was there
- 2:29:13for the festival he's like dude you gotta come see
- 2:29:15the house come see the house i'm like paulie i'm
- 2:29:18so busy that's very highly unlikely come see the house
- 2:29:22dude you gotta come to the house sure enough i
- 2:29:24went there one afternoon for a fucking coffee bro it
- 2:29:28is crazy he was right he's got the house he
- 2:29:32did it it's on top of everything so There's, if
- 2:29:36a robber does try to go up there, they're robbing
- 2:29:38someone else's house. They don't want to go to the
- 2:29:40tippy top of the fucking hill. That's a tough escape.
- 2:29:44Speaker 4: That's the problem is the escape. Yeah. You want to
- 2:29:46be close to the bottom. Right.
- 2:29:49Speaker 5: Right.
- 2:29:49Speaker 4: Speaking of which, I've been watching, I got, I went
- 2:29:52down a rabbit hole the other day on YouTube where
- 2:29:55street racers, and there's this one guy who is like
- 2:29:59a famous street racer because there's all these videos of him.
- 2:30:03He got his... His thing's set up where he can
- 2:30:07shut the lights off. He's got this black Corvette. I'm
- 2:30:10going to send this to you, Jamie. I think I've
- 2:30:12seen this guy. Yeah, his name is really slow. Like R-Y-L-S-L-O.
- 2:30:21And he's got videos of these cop encounters. So he
- 2:30:25baits cops and then goes on these mad runs. And
- 2:30:28you watch it and you go, holy shit, man. Oh,
- 2:30:31I love it. Car's on the screen. Yes, this is
- 2:30:34the dude. This is about him, not just one. Yeah,
- 2:30:38this is– well, he's like a legend online because he
- 2:30:41does interviews only with a voice changer. Where it takes
- 2:30:45his voice and it makes it like that. Where he
- 2:30:48describes all the modifications that he did to his car.
- 2:30:51But he puts a 3D camera on the back of
- 2:30:54his car. And they have those things where you stick
- 2:30:57it on the back of your car. And he gives
- 2:30:59you a 3D view of the automobile. And he has
- 2:31:02video of the cops like flashing their lights. And his
- 2:31:06car has got a thousand plus horsepower. So these poor
- 2:31:09cops and they're like 300 horsepower fucking crown Victoria. They
- 2:31:14try to chase this guy. He just disappears. And then
- 2:31:17once he gets out of the line, like go back
- 2:31:20to that video where it was before. Watch this. I mean, it's,
- 2:31:23this is, it's just edited. It's not his videos. It's
- 2:31:25just someone. I understand. But if you just, I know
- 2:31:27this video, but if you, what, what, what he does
- 2:31:29is they start pulling them over and they, In the
- 2:31:32beginning when they pull him over, he hits the gas
- 2:31:34and then shuts his lights off. Did you pass that spot?
- 2:31:37Here it is. So this is it. So they hit
- 2:31:40the lights and he's like, see ya. Are they going
- 2:31:44to show it? Yes, this is not the– Okay, so
- 2:31:46it's not the compilation. So when he does it and
- 2:31:49he hits the gas, he gets– here it is. He
- 2:31:52gets far enough away from them. They're not showing it.
- 2:31:55These motherfuckers. They have to edit their own shit. Leaving
- 2:31:58it alone is better. So he gets ahead of everybody
- 2:32:01and then just he has a button where it kills
- 2:32:03his headlights and he's using night vision. Oh, wow. Yeah,
- 2:32:08it's nuts. So is this it? Yeah. He enters ghost
- 2:32:11mode here. Yes, this is it. So this is this guy.
- 2:32:14So his license plate says will run. It's a fake
- 2:32:18license plate. The cops get up behind him. They hit
- 2:32:20the lights, and he goes, bye. And the cops realize
- 2:32:24there's no way to catch this guy. Look at that.
- 2:32:28Lights go out, and he's gone. And he's flashing lights
- 2:32:32on people to get them the fuck out of the way,
- 2:32:34and there's no way to catch him. And then he
- 2:32:36bangs U-turns. He knows where he's going. He plots it out.
- 2:32:40And the thing is he's filming this and uploading it.
- 2:32:44So he's got to hide his identity through how many
- 2:32:46different channels. How does Instagram not know who he is?
- 2:32:49How is he posting? I guess he's using a VPN.
- 2:32:52He's probably using a proxy and he's probably going through
- 2:32:55some other country or something. If he's smart, if he's
- 2:32:57smart enough to avoid detection, but he just has these
- 2:33:02fucking crazy car bills. Like he's got a Calvo Viper
- 2:33:06that has like, I mean, I don't know how many
- 2:33:09fucking horsepower that thing has. But they make some of
- 2:33:13these Calvo Vipers. It's a company here in Texas. They
- 2:33:16make Vipers that have 2,000 horsepower. Damn. What? Like, what
- 2:33:21the fuck are you talking about? Does anybody know where?
- 2:33:23Speaker 3: Does he always do it in the same city?
- 2:33:25Speaker 4: I think he's in the Dallas area. How fun. Well, yeah. Well,
- 2:33:29not good if you kill somebody. But it's very spooky. Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:33:36It's nuts, man. Because this fucking dude really knows how
- 2:33:40to drive, too. And you see these poor cops, and
- 2:33:43one of them, the cops wipe out. They slam into
- 2:33:44another car. Oh, shit. They're trying to pass by these cones,
- 2:33:48and the road cuts off, and the cop hits the cones,
- 2:33:51then loses control of his car and slams into another car.
- 2:33:53So people can fucking die, especially if he runs a
- 2:33:58red light, and he runs a lot of them, and
- 2:34:00someone's being an idiot. Maybe someone's doing exactly what he's
- 2:34:03doing while he's running the red light.
- 2:34:04Speaker 1: Dude, you have to see what Kanye's doing right now.
- 2:34:07It's a historical moment in all of art. Unbelievable.
- 2:34:10Speaker 4: Yeah. You said that he's standing on the globe, right?
- 2:34:13Speaker 1: Well, not only that, he thought entire everything is a
- 2:34:18super production and it's all him. Like you could tell
- 2:34:21he's made every decision and tweaked everything to the, to
- 2:34:26the color of everything, to when it happens, to how
- 2:34:28it happens, that it's not too much. He's not overwhelming
- 2:34:31the senses with lasers and lights and all of this.
- 2:34:34It's all so strategic, but most importantly, he, First of all,
- 2:34:39it's the fucking greatest production I've ever seen of anything.
- 2:34:43And I come from Pink Floyd land, where the live
- 2:34:45show has to be ahead of its time and state
- 2:34:47of the art and everything for my mind to be blown.
- 2:34:51And I was expecting this to be like every other
- 2:34:54rap concert that I've seen, which is going to be
- 2:34:56fun and good and maybe great. Of course, it'll be great.
- 2:35:00But this was like a thousand times my expectations. Because
- 2:35:04first of all, he's doing pop-up shows at stadiums, which
- 2:35:07is crazy. He announces it a week or two in advance.
- 2:35:10And the stadium's like, okay, we're sitting empty that night.
- 2:35:13We'd love to sell beer and water and get a
- 2:35:16percentage of merch, right? How these venues work. They don't
- 2:35:19give a fuck. And he's not promoting it. Everyone else
- 2:35:22that's been to one or seen one is promoting it.
- 2:35:25And then the mayor of whatever city or whatever leftist person,
- 2:35:31whether it be the governor of that state or whatever,
- 2:35:32is like, this shouldn't be happening. So they're promoting it
- 2:35:35for him. And it's filled to the top of the
- 2:35:38fucking stadium, whereas even Pink Floyd or the Rolling Stones
- 2:35:42or whoever announces a tour all at once and goes, hey,
- 2:35:45buy tickets. I'm on tour. Pretty please come.
- 2:35:47Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:35:48Speaker 1: He's just like San Antonio, July 4th.
- 2:35:52Speaker 4: Boom.
- 2:35:52Speaker 1: A week ago, literally. And what's crazy is that my
- 2:35:56buddy got me tickets to go see him in Tampa
- 2:36:00because as all we knew is that he was going
- 2:36:02to Tampa. And so there I was and I'm looking
- 2:36:06and it's filled to the top and the floor is
- 2:36:10filled and he doesn't stop. He doesn't take a break.
- 2:36:15Speaker 4: There it is.
- 2:36:15Speaker 1: I saw that on Instagram after his first one that
- 2:36:18he did. I think it was in LA. And I'm like, oh,
- 2:36:20that's crazy. I need to see this.
- 2:36:23Speaker 4: That is nuts. That stage is nuts.
- 2:36:25Speaker 1: But these pictures and videos do not do any justice
- 2:36:29to what is happening sound-wise, energy-wise.
- 2:36:33Speaker 4: Just that stage alone is fucking insane.
- 2:36:36Speaker 1: It's crazy. And he enters at the... He walks through
- 2:36:40the crowd because obviously it's in the round. He comes
- 2:36:43out and you hear a pop from one side because
- 2:36:46they can kind of see him. And then the globe
- 2:36:48turns on and he waits until it's dark. So he
- 2:36:52enters at one point And then inside is a lift
- 2:36:59that only takes him. So, like, there's no one that
- 2:37:01can storm that stage or anything because it's inflatable on
- 2:37:05the outside. So it's impossible to, you know, storm the
- 2:37:11stage or anything like that. And he's the only one
- 2:37:14that has access to the lift, obviously. And he has
- 2:37:16a tether that he's attached to so that he doesn't
- 2:37:19go off or anything.
- 2:37:21Speaker 4: So he doesn't fall into the balloon.
- 2:37:22Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 2:37:22Speaker 1: Exactly. And it is the most diabolical show I've ever
- 2:37:27seen in my entire life ever. And that includes all.
- 2:37:30the fucking everythings. And again, I come from the school
- 2:37:33of Pink Floyd, which is always 10, 20 years ahead
- 2:37:36of its time production wise. And this was fucking nuts
- 2:37:41because he does not stop. He does not take a break.
- 2:37:44He doesn't go, thank you guys for coming out until
- 2:37:46the very end in which he goes, it's all about love.
- 2:37:49I love you guys. Thanks for sticking with me all
- 2:37:51these years when all these people said this. And then
- 2:37:53by that point, two and a half hours in when
- 2:37:55he's saying that, you're just like, you got to be
- 2:37:57fucking kidding me.
- 2:37:58Speaker 4: Well, we realized the bulk of his work, how many
- 2:38:01bangers that guy has. It's nuts. Bangers.
- 2:38:06Speaker 1: And I, as an experiment, took my one buddy who
- 2:38:09said that, you know, part of the group was my
- 2:38:12one friend who said, He's always been like, I don't know,
- 2:38:14you fucking love Kanye. I mean, not really my thing.
- 2:38:18But he's just not really a rap fan is the reality.
- 2:38:22So I invited him on this trip and his mind
- 2:38:25was fucking... Now he's a diehard Kanye fan. Now he's
- 2:38:27going back and, you know, realizing that he's always been
- 2:38:32a Kanye fan. Like, it's such a crazy fucking thing
- 2:38:35because not only does he have hits on hits on hits,
- 2:38:38but he... does not stop in between songs because some
- 2:38:43of his beats kind of correlate or this and that
- 2:38:46he'll literally just keep going and going and going until
- 2:38:50his amazing on his new album. He has this keyboardist
- 2:38:55with one of those like crazy blow into tube instrument things.
- 2:38:59I don't know what it's called, but he has a solo,
- 2:39:02a big one on one of the songs, which is
- 2:39:05gives Kanye a, a minute and a half to catch
- 2:39:08his breath, an hour and a half into non-stop going.
- 2:39:13And also, on top of all that, you know, a
- 2:39:16rap concert's a rap concert, but Kanye's the greatest producer
- 2:39:19of all time in that industry. So every noise that's happening,
- 2:39:24even if he's not talking or singing or rapping into
- 2:39:28a microphone... is all him and him only. You know
- 2:39:32what I mean? Like, he might get an idea or
- 2:39:35an inspiration, as we talked about, or he's a master
- 2:39:38of sampling old hit songs and having them be in
- 2:39:42the backbone of the thing and everything. But this is...
- 2:39:45It's just a whole nother level of absolute insanity. Like,
- 2:39:49I thought I was going to go there and be like, yeah,
- 2:39:51and maybe... you know, move a little bit or sing
- 2:39:53along or whatever. And instead my jaw was dropped the
- 2:39:56entire time.
- 2:39:57Speaker 4: Is there anybody that ever bounced back from being canceled
- 2:40:00like him?
- 2:40:01Speaker 1: And that's really the underlying thing. There's this feeling of
- 2:40:05loyalty that's there and we're right. You know what I mean?
- 2:40:10There's a feeling that everybody there is like, they're correct.
- 2:40:15Does that make sense?
- 2:40:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:40:16Speaker 1: I saw a breakdown of it because my algorithms feeding
- 2:40:19me Kanye stuff nonstop since I went to it because
- 2:40:22somehow fucking Instagram knows and whatever. And I watched a
- 2:40:26breakdown of it talking about how like it's like this
- 2:40:30psychiatrist or energy specialist or something that's talking about how
- 2:40:34and why this is the craziest concert ever done before.
- 2:40:38And she breaks it down and goes, people that like
- 2:40:42Kanye know believe in themselves because if Kanye saying I'm
- 2:40:49the greatest, I'm the man, I'm a God, all of
- 2:40:52these things makes you not like him and you insecure,
- 2:40:57you're insecure. Does that make sense? Like, it's like he,
- 2:41:01if that turns you off to somebody, then you don't
- 2:41:04really like yourself that much.
- 2:41:06Speaker 4: Why do you think that?
- 2:41:08Speaker 1: Well, again, this was someone else's psychological breakdown of it,
- 2:41:11and I'm probably not explaining it correct because I was
- 2:41:13stoned on a couch.
- 2:41:14Speaker 4: I see what they were saying to try to defend him,
- 2:41:17but there's some people that just get turned off by
- 2:41:19that kind of braggadocious rap music. I don't. Right. I
- 2:41:25love that shit. I love 90s hip-hop, talking about how
- 2:41:30great they are. I love it. Yeah. I'm a giant
- 2:41:33fan of that shit.
- 2:41:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:41:34Speaker 4: You know, I think like some of my favorite rap lyrics,
- 2:41:38like some of Nas's lyrics, just him talking about how
- 2:41:40he's the shit.
- 2:41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 2:41:43Speaker 4: I don't mind it at all. But it's like it's
- 2:41:46when you're singing along to that stuff and you're listening
- 2:41:49to that stuff, like you're feeling what that guy's feeling
- 2:41:52when he's saying it. And if his raps or if
- 2:41:54his rhymes are really hitting, especially like Kanye or any
- 2:41:59of the greats, you know, Biggie, Tupac, Nas, like when
- 2:42:02they're nailed, it's like, whoo. Oh, my God. Oh, with
- 2:42:07good lyrics and good execution. It's a it's a fucking
- 2:42:10amazing art form, even if USA really did create it. Yeah,
- 2:42:15I don't I don't want to believe that. You know,
- 2:42:18I think they probably very they promoted it. What's really
- 2:42:21interesting is the lack of big rock and roll bands.
- 2:42:24I know Jamie's kind of defended this, but I think
- 2:42:27it's a fact. Oh, no, no doubt. There's less big
- 2:42:30rock and roll bands than when we were a kid.
- 2:42:32When we were a kid, rock and roll was everything.
- 2:42:35It was like rock and roll. And if you like
- 2:42:36rock and rap, like you are a weirdo, you know?
- 2:42:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:42:40Speaker 4: Like I really became a rap fan, like almost like silently,
- 2:42:45like secretly. Because you had to be a rock fan.
- 2:42:50If you loved rock music and you went to rock concerts,
- 2:42:53like that's all you liked. But I was like, yeah,
- 2:42:54but this is good too.
- 2:42:55Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 2:42:56Speaker 4: You know, I'd like listen to Ghetto Boys. I'd be like,
- 2:42:58you gotta listen to this. Come listen to this. Shit,
- 2:42:59it's awesome. Yeah.
- 2:43:01Speaker 1: Oh, my range is absolutely ridiculous.
- 2:43:04Speaker 4: Well, our green room.
- 2:43:05Speaker 1: I just got Roy Orbison on vinyl.
- 2:43:08Speaker 5: Oh.
- 2:43:09Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. Pretty woman.
- 2:43:11Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Walking down. And again, that's one.
- 2:43:13Speaker 4: Are we going to be in trouble for that? Probably.
- 2:43:15Speaker 3: Fuck.
- 2:43:17Speaker 4: Fuck.
- 2:43:19Speaker 1: And again, pretty woman, much like. Pink Floyd's wish you
- 2:43:22were here is like one of my, when you get
- 2:43:24into the radio stuff, it's kind of funny how some
- 2:43:26bands and musicians get like typecasted by their hit. Whereas
- 2:43:31like pretty woman's kind of repetitive and easy, even though
- 2:43:34it's a jam. Right. But his other songs that like,
- 2:43:38I hadn't even heard before. Cause I'm like, this guy
- 2:43:41seems like he has some fucking some hits and he does, man. And, uh,
- 2:43:47you know, I, what I mean by the Pink Floyd
- 2:43:49thing is it always fascinated me that People go, oh, yeah,
- 2:43:52I like Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here, Another Brick
- 2:43:54on the Wall. And it's like, damn it. It's because
- 2:43:56those are their radio songs because they can't play an
- 2:44:0011-minute long Shine On You Crazy Diamond or all their
- 2:44:04real hits, that they're real echoes, which is like 17
- 2:44:07minutes and goes slow and fast and bluesy and then
- 2:44:11jazzy and this and that.
- 2:44:14Speaker 4: Yeah, there were so many songs like that, especially from
- 2:44:16like the 70s, where they just took wild chances and
- 2:44:19had long-ass songs. Like famously Freebird, like record executives are
- 2:44:25telling them like the beginning of it is too slow.
- 2:44:27Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:44:27Speaker 4: And they're like, nope, this is the song.
- 2:44:30Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 2:44:31Speaker 4: This is what it is.
- 2:44:32Speaker 1: Bohemian Rhapsody.
- 2:44:33Speaker 4: Yep. There's another one. Yeah. Whole Lotta Love.
- 2:44:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:44:37Speaker 4: Whole Lotta Love is a minute and a half of
- 2:44:39fuck sounds. And cymbals and shit. It's weird.
- 2:44:44Speaker 1: I only recently got to see the Queen movie, whatever
- 2:44:48that is. Is that Bohemian Rhapsody?
- 2:44:50Speaker 4: I believe so.
- 2:44:51Speaker 1: Whatever they call it.
- 2:44:52Speaker 4: I haven't seen it. Yeah.
- 2:44:53Speaker 1: Well, I walked in on a part where they're at
- 2:44:57the record executive's office. And he's going, this can't be
- 2:45:01the main single off of this thing. And Freddie Mercury's like, dude,
- 2:45:07it fucking has to. And I'm obviously not quoting this.
- 2:45:12And the record exec's like, man, you're saying gibberish at points.
- 2:45:16It's slow with a piano. You're saying things that don't
- 2:45:20even make sense. And it's fucking eight minutes long. Like,
- 2:45:23what are you thinking? And they're arguing back and forth
- 2:45:26and back and forth. And his bass player, guitarist, or
- 2:45:29one of the guys that's in the meeting with this
- 2:45:31record exec sitting behind a big fancy desk points at
- 2:45:34the wall and goes, so you were the record exec
- 2:45:36that made this, huh? And he points at Dark Side
- 2:45:38of the Moon. And you see the record exec go, oh, fuck.
- 2:45:42Because what the fuck was that? It starts with a heartbeat,
- 2:45:47has no words for the first however long.
- 2:45:50Speaker 4: Also, what is the deal with it aligning with The
- 2:45:53Wizard of Oz?
- 2:45:54Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 2:45:55Speaker 4: Roger says it's just coincidental.
- 2:45:58Speaker 5: I know.
- 2:45:59Speaker 4: But it seems like the universe organized it. Yeah. It
- 2:46:02almost seems like evidence of the simulation. Yep. Because it's
- 2:46:05so good. The way it lines up, it's too good.
- 2:46:08Speaker 1: I've always said it's the craziest coincidence of all times.
- 2:46:12Speaker 4: I feel like it's evidence of the simulation. There's something
- 2:46:15about it. There's evidence of some weird, bizarre synchronicity between
- 2:46:19those two pieces of art.
- 2:46:20Speaker 3: Yeah, producing that would have been near impossible.
- 2:46:23Speaker 4: Impossible. Not that you couldn't, but just the amount of
- 2:46:26planning and figuring things out and the.
- 2:46:28Speaker 3: Technology then would have been so hard to do.
- 2:46:30Speaker 4: Yeah, so hard. Pink Floyd would have had to, they
- 2:46:33would have literally have to watch it and then go
- 2:46:36over each beat. And decide... How.
- 2:46:39Speaker 3: High was the person that figured it out, too?
- 2:46:42Speaker 4: Right. Right. How do you know? Hold on.
- 2:46:45Speaker 3: It's still going.
- 2:46:47Speaker 4: Right. 45 minutes.
- 2:46:48Speaker 7: Right.
- 2:46:48Speaker 4: But meanwhile, it's perfect. Like, we've watched it before. Yeah.
- 2:46:52It's perfect.
- 2:46:53Speaker 1: The lyrics are the scariest part.
- 2:46:55Speaker 5: God.
- 2:46:56Speaker 1: Which one is which?
- 2:46:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:46:57Speaker 1: At one point when... Only when... The only moment when
- 2:47:01both the good witch and the bad witch are there.
- 2:47:03Speaker 4: Yeah, it's nuts. And.
- 2:47:06Speaker 1: The wildest one to me is always when she's balancing
- 2:47:09on the thing, you know, in black and white and
- 2:47:11with the other farmers around and on the run, that
- 2:47:14crazy blub, blub, blub, blub, blub, blub, blub starts and
- 2:47:16she falls off at that exact moment Chaos is happening.
- 2:47:20It's crazy.
- 2:47:22Speaker 3: Is there a why in that conspiracy? You know, like
- 2:47:25why would they have done that just to do it?
- 2:47:27Speaker 4: Just for funsies. Yeah. Well, I mean, Roger water says
- 2:47:34it was an accident.
- 2:47:35Speaker 3: I know.
- 2:47:35Speaker 4: I'm just saying like, I know, I know. The conspiracy theorists.
- 2:47:38I don't know. I mean, I would imagine they think that...
- 2:47:42The people that believed that it was some sort of
- 2:47:44a coordinated conspiracy, it's like, why wouldn't they say that?
- 2:47:48Why wouldn't they just say, we lined it up with
- 2:47:51The Wizard of Oz? Yeah, if they said that, it
- 2:47:53would make more people watch it and more people listen.
- 2:47:56Speaker 1: Well, they did pretty good off of it.
- 2:47:58Speaker 4: Yeah, they did pretty good. Who are we to give
- 2:48:01them advice? Yeah. Speaking of doing pretty good, you're fucking
- 2:48:03killing it, dude. Congratulations.
- 2:48:05Speaker 1: Thank you, buddy.
- 2:48:05Speaker 4: It's awesome watching it all.
- 2:48:07Speaker 1: Thank you, man.
- 2:48:08Speaker 4: You're taking all the hits. Keep on moving. Keep on trucking.
- 2:48:10Just makes it stronger.
- 2:48:11Speaker 1: On to the next one.
- 2:48:12Speaker 4: Makes the jokes better. New jokes are killing it. Yeah. Yeah,
- 2:48:15it's fun. We're having a good time. Yeah.
- 2:48:17Speaker 1: Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best. Working them out at
- 2:48:19the mothership.
- 2:48:20Speaker 4: Yes, sir. All right. I appreciate you, brother.
- 2:48:22Speaker 1: Thank you, man.
- 2:48:23Speaker 5: Hell yeah.
- 2:48:23Speaker 4: Bye, everybody. Bye.
