- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on. Do your thing, Big Daddy. Uh-huh. I sure will.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good morning, everybody. You are listening to The Voice. Come on.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Dig me now. One and only. Steve Harvey. Got a
- 0:13Speaker 1: radio show. Okay. I got something for you today.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm going to have a conversation this morning about my
- 0:24Speaker 2: understanding of grace. Now that I've gotten older and I've
- 0:28Speaker 2: come into a better understanding of a lot of things
- 0:31Speaker 2: I didn't know about when I was younger. This is
- 0:34Speaker 2: just my interpretation of grace. Now, once again, y'all listen
- 0:40Speaker 2: to me. I ain't nobody's pastor. I ain't nobody's minister. So,
- 0:45Speaker 2: you know, I'm pretty sure you can go to church
- 0:48Speaker 2: and get a far more extensive definition of what I'm
- 0:51Speaker 2: giving you. I'm just talking to people. You know, grace
- 0:55Speaker 2: is this thing that God provides for us. And grace
- 1:03Speaker 2: is just things that you get that's really undeserving. You know,
- 1:07Speaker 2: I mean, I look at my life as it is today.
- 1:10Speaker 2: You know, look, I work hard and I have faith
- 1:13Speaker 2: in God.
- 1:13Speaker 1: That I do.
- 1:15Speaker 2: So things are going to happen in my life. But
- 1:17Speaker 2: the way my life is now, I don't. I don't
- 1:21Speaker 2: deserve all of this. I don't look at it that way.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I have been the beneficiary of God's grace. I have
- 1:30Speaker 2: aligned myself in a position to accept whatever grace God
- 1:35Speaker 2: has for me. And it will be far abundant and
- 1:39Speaker 2: exceedingly in anything you could think of. His grace supersedes
- 1:45Speaker 2: anything you could possibly imagine. You know, the goals that
- 1:49Speaker 2: I set and the aspirations that I shoot for and
- 1:51Speaker 2: the things that I have on my dream board, I
- 1:54Speaker 2: have the faith that God will.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Give it to me.
- 1:56Speaker 2: But what he does with grace, he gives you far
- 1:59Speaker 2: more than that. He gives you what he has for you,
- 2:02Speaker 2: not what you can see. You can't see all he
- 2:05Speaker 2: has for you.
- 2:06Speaker 1: It's impossible. Who are you?
- 2:08Speaker 2: How can you possibly imagine what he can imagine? How
- 2:11Speaker 2: can you possibly think how he can think? How can
- 2:14Speaker 2: you possibly do what he can do?
- 2:16Speaker 1: How can it be?
- 2:17Speaker 2: There isn't a single mind living or a collection of
- 2:20Speaker 2: minds that could have thought of Earth. What in your
- 2:24Speaker 2: wildest imagination could have made you think of Earth, the stars,
- 2:29Speaker 2: the heavens, the oceans, the galaxy, the constellations? What in
- 2:35Speaker 2: your mind? What in any man's mind? We can point
- 2:39Speaker 2: at it and analyze it, but we sure couldn't have
- 2:41Speaker 2: thought of it. So come on now. I'm talking about
- 2:45Speaker 2: lining yourself up. with God's grace, which he will give
- 2:50Speaker 2: to you if you want some of it now. But
- 2:53Speaker 2: now here's the thing about grace. It can't be bought.
- 2:56Speaker 2: If it could be bought, I'm telling you, I would
- 3:00Speaker 2: pour all the money I have and dump it into grace.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Because after discovering.
- 3:06Speaker 2: What it is, it's this goodness that God shines on
- 3:12Speaker 2: you simply as a reward of some type for his
- 3:16Speaker 2: love for you and for you attempting, for you attempting
- 3:22Speaker 2: to do right. Not because you get it right, because
- 3:24Speaker 2: if he judged us purely on how we are, the
- 3:27Speaker 2: right and wrong of it, we.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Would all be doomed. All of us.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Every last one of us would be doomed. Because we
- 3:37Speaker 2: all fall short. We all make mistakes. We all sin.
- 3:41Speaker 2: We all get it wrong from time to time. Nobody's perfect, man.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Now I understand what my mother was saying about cleaning
- 3:49Speaker 2: the house. All I want is a little more grace.
- 3:53Speaker 2: All I need is a little more grace. When's the
- 3:55Speaker 2: last time you asked God for some grace? I'm not
- 3:58Speaker 2: talking to you like I know everything. If you just
- 4:02Speaker 2: benefit from his grace, which you already have, But if
- 4:06Speaker 2: you're not aware of it, you don't know what's going on.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Become aware of grace.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Get aware of the fact that God does things for
- 4:14Speaker 2: you simply because he loves you. He does things for
- 4:17Speaker 2: you that you don't even deserve. Somehow you just wonder
- 4:20Speaker 2: how you just got over when you didn't even do
- 4:23Speaker 2: the things to get over. Sometimes you don't even know
- 4:27Speaker 2: how you got that job you got when you ain't
- 4:29Speaker 2: even really do the things to get the job. How
- 4:32Speaker 2: you end up where you are? All this education you
- 4:34Speaker 2: thought you went and got and had. How you end
- 4:37Speaker 2: up where you are today? In a much better position
- 4:39Speaker 2: than your education could have ever gotten you. That's grace.
- 4:44Speaker 2: How I get every place I am today. I didn't
- 4:48Speaker 2: plan this, man. If I could have planned my life
- 4:50Speaker 2: the way it is, don't you know I'd have done
- 4:51Speaker 2: it when I was living in that car? If I
- 4:53Speaker 2: knew how to do it, no, I benefited from his grace.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I'm just a beneficiary of his grace, of his goodness
- 5:03Speaker 2: and his mercy. God's goodness is better than your goodness.
- 5:07Speaker 2: God's goodness is better than your mother's goodness. It's better
- 5:10Speaker 2: than your wife's or your husband or your boo's goodness.
- 5:14Speaker 2: God's goodness is different. His goodness, man, covers some stuff
- 5:19Speaker 2: you can't even imagine. So why are you trying to
- 5:23Speaker 2: put your life together when the last time you asked
- 5:25Speaker 2: him for just a little bit of grace? When have
- 5:29Speaker 2: you thought of your life in terms of the grace
- 5:32Speaker 2: that it has already benefited from? Have you ever done that? Man,
- 5:37Speaker 2: just thought about, you know, you hear songs like my
- 5:40Speaker 2: soul look back and wonder how I got over.
- 5:42Speaker 1: That was grace.
- 5:43Speaker 2: That's all I can call it. Now, like I said,
- 5:45Speaker 2: you can go to church or somewhere if you want to.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And ministers that went to school to teach this thing
- 5:51Speaker 2: way better than me. I'm just giving you from a
- 5:53Speaker 2: layman standpoint, man. Have you thought about his grace? Would
- 5:57Speaker 2: you not be well to be a beneficiary of his grace?
- 6:01Speaker 1: Would it not?
- 6:01Speaker 2: So now check this out. The better you try to do.
- 6:06Speaker 2: The more grace he'll give to you. And that grace
- 6:08Speaker 2: can't be bought. Like I said, it's free. You can't
- 6:12Speaker 2: purchase grace. But the better you try to become, the
- 6:16Speaker 2: more grace he gets to put your way. So, man,
- 6:20Speaker 2: just try. Why don't you just try to do better? Look, man,
- 6:24Speaker 2: quit talking about it. I'm going to start next week.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I'm going to start at the new year. No, you're not.
- 6:28Speaker 2: You do that every year. At the new year, I'm
- 6:30Speaker 2: going to eat better. At the new year, I'm going
- 6:33Speaker 2: to go on and get in here. In the new year,
- 6:36Speaker 2: if you're going to do it, you're going to do
- 6:37Speaker 2: it now, man. You're going to do it now.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Stop trying. Do something. Do it. Stop talking about it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Do it now.
- 6:46Speaker 2: The best way to benefit from his grace is start
- 6:48Speaker 2: an action now.
- 6:51Speaker 1: N-O-W. Now. Right now. Today.
- 6:55Speaker 2: What you waiting on? All you doing is delaying his
- 6:58Speaker 2: opportunity to bless you. You know, do you know how
- 7:03Speaker 2: many times we do that? We delay his opportunity to
- 7:06Speaker 2: bless us by not starting now.
- 7:09Speaker 1: If you're going to get healthy, why don't you start now?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Now you're going to trip a little bit because the
- 7:13Speaker 2: holiday is coming, but you ain't got to eat bad
- 7:16Speaker 2: all the time.
- 7:17Speaker 1: You could start eating correct today. You could. You could.
- 7:21Speaker 2: And then guess what? There could be some grace on
- 7:23Speaker 2: the end of that. I'm just giving you a little
- 7:25Speaker 2: cheap analogy. But do you feel what I'm saying to you?
- 7:29Speaker 2: Start thinking in terms of grace. what he has done
- 7:32Speaker 2: for you and provided for you that you didn't even
- 7:34Speaker 2: see coming that, you know, you keep calling them blessings.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And I got that a lot of it. Now it's
- 7:39Speaker 2: all it is. But man, have you thought about the
- 7:41Speaker 2: stuff that didn't.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Happen to you?
- 7:42Speaker 2: You can't account for you. I, for me, that's been
- 7:46Speaker 2: grace and I'm beneficiary of it. And that's available to
- 7:50Speaker 2: everybody that wants some. So next time you're talking to him,
- 7:53Speaker 2: just check in with grace.
- 7:55Speaker 1: See what that is. That's, that's better than money. You're
- 7:58Speaker 1: listening to the Steve Harvey morning show.
