- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food. Freshly
- 0:05Speaker 1: made with Reburger. Welcome to the Hauraki Big Show with
- 0:14Speaker 1: Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Oh, g'day you mad bastards. Great to have your company
- 0:20Speaker 2: on this blustery Thursday afternoon. It is the 29th of October, 2026.
- 0:26Speaker 2: And you, my friends who are listening to the Big Show,
- 0:28Speaker 2: brought to you by Reburger.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 0:32Speaker 3: away Reburger today.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Reburger. Yeah, great stuff. Speaking of which, Mogi dressed in
- 0:41Speaker 2: what I would describe as smart casual today with his
- 0:45Speaker 2: very nicely fitting denim shirt there. He's got a tidy
- 0:48Speaker 2: whitey on underneath and I'm loving it. Mogi, how's life, mate?
- 0:53Speaker 4: I'm pretty grousey, you nerd dog. You sick son of a.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Life's good, isn't it? Yeah. The weather's taken a little
- 1:01Speaker 4: bit of a turn. I'll be honest with you. I
- 1:02Speaker 4: had four G & Ts last night and a thousand cigarettes.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Got to sleep at around about 1.30 in the morning. Weirdly,
- 1:11Speaker 4: I was just nodding off, just getting to sleep because
- 1:13Speaker 4: I was in bed at 11.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:14Speaker 4: I thought if I stay up later, I'll sleep later, Keezy.
- 1:17Speaker 4: I'll sleep later. But what happened was I was so
- 1:20Speaker 4: out of whack that I couldn't get to sleep. And
- 1:22Speaker 4: then just as I was nodding off, I was having
- 1:25Speaker 4: a dream that Wilson Dixon, friend of the show, comedian,
- 1:28Speaker 4: and singer-songwriter, was on a horse, and the horse kicked
- 1:32Speaker 4: me in the head, and it woke me up. And
- 1:34Speaker 4: then I had a bit of an adrenaline rush. 1.30
- 1:37Speaker 4: in the morning, I got to sleep.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:39Speaker 4: So when you ask me how I am, just remember, man,
- 1:42Speaker 4: there could be something going on at home.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I'll take that on board, man. I'll take that on board.
- 1:46Speaker 2: How are you going, Keezy? Looking very... Odd.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 2: What do you mean, odd? I'm not sure about the shirt,
- 1:53Speaker 2: that's all.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Why is that?
- 1:55Speaker 2: It's just odd.
- 1:58Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 1:59Speaker 2: What's odd about it? No, I mean it's cool. Is it? But, yeah, no.
- 2:04Speaker 3: It's just a rugby jersey. I mean, I don't know
- 2:06Speaker 3: what the big deal is.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Oh, right. No, it's all good. Yeah, go for it.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Go pretty grouse, fellas. It's a beautiful day.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Wow. It's all G. It's a bit blustery and shitty. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:18Speaker 3: And I'm in a shit mood, right? But outside of that,
- 2:22Speaker 3: it's all good.
- 2:22Speaker 4: What about you, Jase?
- 2:23Speaker 3: How are you going?
- 2:23Speaker 2: Well, it's interesting that Mogi mentioned the durries there because
- 2:26Speaker 2: for the first time in ages today, I was like.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Don't do it.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Don't do it.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I might as well just smoke durries. I agree. You
- 2:32Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 2:33Speaker 3: I'm so sick of this shit.
- 2:34Speaker 2: But also... But also... You know, I haven't been feeling
- 2:38Speaker 2: great lately, and I'm just thinking to myself, this vape crap,
- 2:42Speaker 2: it's got to end.
- 2:43Speaker 4: It's got to go.
- 2:43Speaker 2: It's got to end.
- 2:44Speaker 4: You know, I really envied you when you were a smoker, Jase,
- 2:47Speaker 4: because me, when I smoke, as you'll notice, I get
- 2:50Speaker 4: that cough.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 4: I get that little tickle in the back of my throat.
- 2:53Speaker 4: It's almost enough to put a man off smoking. Almost?
- 2:55Speaker 4: It's almost like it's not good for you. But you
- 2:58Speaker 4: never had that.
- 2:58Speaker 2: No.
- 2:58Speaker 4: You've always smoked considerably more than me, and yet your
- 3:01Speaker 4: body seems to be so resilient against it. Extraordinary, isn't it?
- 3:04Speaker 2: No. Hey, speaking of which, boy, we've got an extraordinary
- 3:08Speaker 2: show coming up.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Whoa.
- 3:10Speaker 2: On the Big Show.
- 3:15Speaker 4: God, when you say extraordinary show, Jay, you're 100% right.
- 3:19Speaker 4: After 5 o'clock today, we're going to be talking to
- 3:20Speaker 4: the director of and star of Black Sheeps.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:24Speaker 4: The sequel to the huge hit Black Sheep that came
- 3:27Speaker 4: out in 2006, I believe. Director's name is Jonathan King.
- 3:29Speaker 4: The star is Nathan Meister. Also, we've got the ITM
- 3:33Speaker 4: tool trade-off. Listen out for the queue to call. Ring
- 3:35Speaker 4: us on 0800 Hauraki and you could be able to
- 3:37Speaker 4: trade in one of your shitty trolls for one that's
- 3:40Speaker 4: worth up to a million dollars. I don't know how
- 3:42Speaker 4: we do it.
- 3:43Speaker 2: That's incredible.
- 3:43Speaker 4: I really don't. Next up, Jase wants to talk about
- 3:46Speaker 4: the filth double standard in a relationship.
- 3:49Speaker 5: Yes.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Does this got anything to do with hand shandies?
- 3:51Speaker 2: Wow. Could do. Could do. Depends on whoever's doing the chatting.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Hey.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I hope not. Here's a bit of incubus. Tune.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yes, indeed. Smashing pumpkins there on the Radio Hodaki Big
- 4:09Speaker 2: Show this Thursday afternoon. And the time is 4.13. And fellas,
- 4:13Speaker 2: I wonder if you might indulge me in a little
- 4:15Speaker 2: bit of relationship chat.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Sure.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Thanks, man. And it's something that I've noticed over the
- 4:23Speaker 2: last sort of, I don't know, couple of years, I guess.
- 4:26Speaker 2: You'll be aware of the fact that I've been in
- 4:28Speaker 2: a pretty long-term relationship.
- 4:30Speaker 4: You're married.
- 4:31Speaker 2: With the love of my life. Yeah. Lovely lady.
- 4:34Speaker 4: She's all right.
- 4:35Speaker 5: And every now and then, every now and then, she's
- 4:41Speaker 5: prone to coming out with some absolutely shocking filth.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:46Speaker 3: All right, like what?
- 4:47Speaker 4: Like what?
- 4:48Speaker 2: What does she say? Well, this is the issue that
- 4:50Speaker 2: I have in discussing this, Keezy, and I knew you
- 4:52Speaker 2: were going to go in this direction. I can't really,
- 4:56Speaker 2: because it is filth. It is such filth that even
- 5:00Speaker 2: Hoity J goes, whoa! Hello! But you're loving it, though.
- 5:06Speaker 2: But I love it.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I love it. And she'll just sort of laugh and
- 5:11Speaker 2: sort of laugh it off, and it'll all be all G,
- 5:14Speaker 2: and I'll have a little chuckle to myself. And then
- 5:17Speaker 2: maybe a little bit further down the line, you know,
- 5:18Speaker 2: we'll be walking along an old hoody J remembering, you know,
- 5:22Speaker 2: what my wife may have said a day or two before.
- 5:25Speaker 2: We'll come out with a bit of filth of his own. Yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 2: And she'll be like, and this is true, she'll go, oh, oh, no,
- 5:36Speaker 2: that's not cool. And I'll be like, oh.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I was just kind of, you know, just sort of,
- 5:44Speaker 2: playing along with what you said the other day, sort of, da-da-doosh-doosh. Yeah,
- 5:48Speaker 2: it's creepy.
- 5:49Speaker 3: It's creepy.
- 5:49Speaker 4: You took it too far.
- 5:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 2: And she's genuinely, like, sort of offended by it. And
- 5:54Speaker 2: I go, well, hang on. I mean, how come you
- 5:57Speaker 2: get to say that stuff and old hoity Jay? And
- 6:01Speaker 2: I mean, I've got to say, mine's probably, if anything,
- 6:04Speaker 2: a touch milder than what she would say.
- 6:06Speaker 3: It's giving me creepy vibes.
- 6:07Speaker 2: You know what I mean? It'll be just like, da-doosh-doosh-doosh-doosh-doosh-doosh.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Right.
- 6:12Speaker 2: And literally her reaction is, Oh, no.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Well, you know, there's some people, Jason, you would have
- 6:17Speaker 4: come across this in your life. You might be at
- 6:19Speaker 4: the local bar. There'll be a guy there, and this
- 6:21Speaker 4: guy can say whatever he wants. And the woman laughs, and, oh,
- 6:25Speaker 4: isn't this guy charming?
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah, funny.
- 6:28Speaker 4: It's funny.
- 6:29Speaker 3: It's endearing.
- 6:31Speaker 4: And then there's somebody, you know, like you that comes along,
- 6:33Speaker 4: and straightaway nobody feels safe. Nobody.
- 6:40Speaker 2: So.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Well, so hang on, Jase. Maybe this will help. So
- 6:43Speaker 3: just to get back to your wife, when she's talking filth.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Yes.
- 6:49Speaker 3: She's not like swearing or being too graphic.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Oh, there can be some swearing in it.
- 6:53Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Don't you worry. I mean, this is my point. It's shocking.
- 6:57Speaker 4: Yeah, right.
- 6:58Speaker 2: You know, and I'm not a man easily shocked. Right.
- 7:01Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? It's like, whoa, I'm loving it.
- 7:04Speaker 2: But whoa!
- 7:06Speaker 3: And then you take it too far. And then you
- 7:08Speaker 3: have a crack at it.
- 7:08Speaker 2: And then I go, hey! You know, deuce, deuce, deuce, deuce, deuce, deuce.
- 7:12Speaker 2: And she goes, oh, no, no.
- 7:15Speaker 4: The thing I think probably what it is, is that
- 7:19Speaker 4: you like what she's saying. Is that right?
- 7:22Speaker 2: Well, yes, I do.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Yeah, see, that's why I think this is the key here.
- 7:25Speaker 4: We're getting to the crux of it, Keezy. Is coming
- 7:28Speaker 4: from anybody else, she'd like what you're saying as well.
- 7:32Speaker 4: From anybody else.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Literally anyone.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Well, the question I wanted to ask you guys, is
- 7:38Speaker 2: that something that you have in your relationships or is
- 7:41Speaker 2: it just because I'm beginning to get the vibe. I'm
- 7:43Speaker 2: really happily married. I'm beginning to get the vibe that
- 7:48Speaker 2: it's just me.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Well, I mean.
- 7:50Speaker 2: My filth is creepy.
- 7:52Speaker 4: As you know, I am a never knew. Yeah, I
- 7:55Speaker 4: was just thinking about you walking across. From the ensuite
- 7:58Speaker 4: over to the other side of the bedroom, covering yourself
- 8:01Speaker 4: up with a pillow.
- 8:01Speaker 3: With a throw pillow, yeah. So when it comes to
- 8:04Speaker 3: dirty talk, like I'm a bit of a never nude
- 8:06Speaker 3: when it comes to dirty talk as well.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Right, okay, yeah. You're a bit of a straight missionary
- 8:10Speaker 4: sort of.
- 8:10Speaker 3: Yeah, sort of vanilla.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah, your light's off. I'll just pull my jammies down
- 8:15Speaker 2: a bit.
- 8:15Speaker 4: Do you like that? Shh, I'm concentrating.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Have you guys bugged my house or something? I'm concentrating.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Well, okay, well, that's fine. I mean, I was just
- 8:32Speaker 2: curious if anyone else is, you know.
- 8:34Speaker 3: All right, well, how about this? We put it to
- 8:35Speaker 3: the audience. 3483, do you think Jase is creepy? Every
- 8:40Speaker 3: text in the drawer for $ 50 worth of rebates.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 8:43Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:50Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki. Let's see who's
- 8:57Speaker 1: winning an ITM Toolbox trade-off from the big show on
- 9:00Speaker 1: Radio Hauraki.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yes, indeed, the ITM Toolbox trade-off. I tell you what,
- 9:05Speaker 2: the fellas at ITM have really come to the party, fellas.
- 9:08Speaker 2: There's been some amazing tool trades.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Certainly has, Jase. Of course, it's to celebrate ITM's Toolbox
- 9:13Speaker 3: top-up sale. It's on now right through November. Heaps of
- 9:16Speaker 3: deals on the biggest brands and more. Go to your
- 9:19Speaker 3: local ITM, suss yourself out, or listen to Hauraki... Hear
- 9:23Speaker 3: the key to call. Dial 0800 HODUCKY.
- 9:25Speaker 2: You can always tell, fellas, when something is.
- 9:27Speaker 3: And trade us a tool.
- 9:28Speaker 2: When something is resonating, because as soon as the phone
- 9:32Speaker 2: lines open, boom, it's a full panel. Douche, douche, douche. Douche, douche, douche, douche, douche.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Dave, you mad bastard.
- 9:39Speaker 2: How's life? I'm good, fellas, and yourself? Yeah! Yeah, man.
- 9:45Speaker 4: You living the dream?
- 9:46Speaker 2: Living the dream, Dave. Living the dream. What do you
- 9:49Speaker 2: do for a crust, mate? I'm a chippy. Oh, yeah. Backbone.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Massive backbone. How's business in Whangarei?
- 9:56Speaker 4: Oh, it's pretty good, mate.
- 9:58Speaker 1: The summer rush is coming on.
- 9:59Speaker 4: So the phone's been ringing.
- 10:00Speaker 2: That's what I like to hear, Dave. Good on you, Dave.
- 10:05Speaker 3: Hey, Dave.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Hammering away down there.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Old Dave hammering away.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Hammer Dash, dash, dash, dash.
- 10:12Speaker 3: What's that noise? Oh, it's just old Dave.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Hammering away.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Just going hammering dogs.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Every site has a Dave.
- 10:17Speaker 2: That's right.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Hey, Dave, what tool would you like to trade with us, man?
- 10:21Speaker 1: I have a beautiful Tesla nail gun that you can have.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 10:25Speaker 3: How long have you had it?
- 10:27Speaker 2: Oh, about 15 years.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Holy.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Far out.
- 10:30Speaker 4: That's a long time.
- 10:31Speaker 5: It's more of a hammer now than it is a
- 10:33Speaker 5: nail gun.
- 10:33Speaker 2: They always scared me, the old nail guns, when I
- 10:36Speaker 2: was on site. Yeah.
- 10:37Speaker 3: You've never been on site, Jason.
- 10:39Speaker 4: No, no, you'll be fine.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Hey, Dave, is it pretty secondhand, that nail gun you got?
- 10:45Speaker 4: Oh, she definitely is.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:46Speaker 3: All right, let me just look here what we've got.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Did you say it was a Paz load?
- 10:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I did, yes.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Okay, what I'm going to do is I'm going to
- 10:53Speaker 3: take that Pazlode nail gun that's 15 years off you
- 10:56Speaker 3: and I'm going to give you a brand new Pazlode
- 10:58Speaker 3: Framemaster Nightwolf worth $ 1, 169 plus GST. It includes a Framemaster
- 11:05Speaker 3: Nightwolf framing nailer and a bonus bush buck hoodie.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Oh, the hoodie, you legend.
- 11:11Speaker 4: Oh, thank you very much.
- 11:12Speaker 2: No worries.
- 11:13Speaker 4: You guys rock, and thank you, ITM.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 11:16Speaker 4: Because it's rolling into summer there, Dave, you might have
- 11:18Speaker 4: to rip the sleeves off that hoodie, brother. Oh, nobody
- 11:22Speaker 4: wants to see me with sleeves off. Let's be honest.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Good on you, Dave.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Good.
- 11:27Speaker 3: You hold the loan, brother, and old Pugs will sort
- 11:29Speaker 3: you out. And don't forget.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Oh, legend. Thanks, guys. No worries, mate.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Make sure you've got your phone on you tomorrow as well, Dave,
- 11:34Speaker 3: because everyone that's in the draw is also in the
- 11:36Speaker 3: draw for $ 500, all right?
- 11:37Speaker 4: Yeah. Oh, that sounds brilliant.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I'll keep my phone with me.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Good on you, Dave.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Good on you. Oh, what a backbone, eh? He loved that.
- 11:44Speaker 2: He loved that.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Well, it's not often you get like for like, so
- 11:47Speaker 4: he's done bloody well there.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he's done bloody well. Pure chance. Don't forget,
- 11:52Speaker 3: ITM's Toolbox top-up sale is on now. And also, head
- 11:54Speaker 3: to Hodaki Socials for your chance to score yourself an
- 11:56Speaker 3: ITM merch pack. Yeah. We just tried on the merch pack, actually.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Pretty cool stuff, eh, fellas?
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a beautiful hoodie in there, actually. I wouldn't
- 12:04Speaker 2: mind scoring one of those for around the house. You
- 12:07Speaker 2: know what I'm saying when I'm doing this? Bits and pieces.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Playing with your bits and pieces.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Here's Jane's addiction.
- 12:16Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 12:19Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Queens of the Stone Age there on the Radio Hodaki
- 12:25Speaker 2: Big Show this Thursday afternoon. The time is 4.49. Fellas,
- 12:28Speaker 2: let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah!
- 12:38Speaker 2: That's right.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Fellas, once again, I don't think I watched anything. Well,
- 12:41Speaker 4: I didn't. I didn't watch anything last night, but what
- 12:44Speaker 4: I have been doing is I've been reading The Little
- 12:46Speaker 4: Prince to my daughter.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Yes.
- 12:48Speaker 4: You're aware of The Little Prince, Jase?
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yes, I am. I am.
- 12:51Speaker 4: God, it's a bloody beautiful story.
- 12:52Speaker 2: It's lovely.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Little fella he is there. And it's about, so it
- 12:57Speaker 4: starts off with a fella there who crashes in the desert.
- 13:02Speaker 4: and while he's fixing his plane, he's in the Sahara Desert,
- 13:05Speaker 4: 100 miles away from anywhere, Jase. Can I say that?
- 13:07Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:07Speaker 4: A very long way. And while he's there, a little
- 13:10Speaker 4: fella comes up to him and starts having a yarn,
- 13:12Speaker 4: and it turns out that this little prince is a
- 13:14Speaker 4: young boy who leaves his tiny planet and the rose
- 13:17Speaker 4: he loves, a flower, to explore the universe. He visits
- 13:21Speaker 4: several planets, meeting adults obsessed with power, money, and status.
- 13:26Speaker 4: I remember reading it when I was a kid, and
- 13:34Speaker 4: I think I might have read it when I was
- 13:35Speaker 4: a bit older, but it's really brilliant reading it as
- 13:37Speaker 4: an adult and seeing it through adult eyes. My daughter's
- 13:40Speaker 4: getting nothing out of it whatsoever.
- 13:42Speaker 2: That's not important.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Every now and again, I'll ask her a question. It's
- 13:46Speaker 4: like we're reading different books. In all seriousness. But it's
- 13:52Speaker 4: nice to spend the time with her. Yes, that's right.
- 13:55Speaker 4: And that's the thing. She'll remember reading this and we'll
- 13:57Speaker 4: read it again. It's a five out of five buzzies book.
- 14:01Speaker 4: It's a lot of pictures in it, but some great
- 14:03Speaker 4: insights into what we treat as being important as humans.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Really good. Bloody great stuff.
- 14:10Speaker 2: What's it called?
- 14:11Speaker 4: The Little Prince. Actually, you can probably watch it somewhere.
- 14:14Speaker 4: There is a movie of it, but not the same.
- 14:15Speaker 4: You have to read it.
- 14:17Speaker 2: I watched a doco last night on Netflix called The
- 14:21Speaker 2: One About Matthew Perry.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 14:24Speaker 2: And it's about Matthew Perry, obviously, the Friends star, and
- 14:27Speaker 2: about his early career.
- 14:28Speaker 4: Chandler.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Chandler. He was one of the most popular characters.
- 14:32Speaker 4: He was my favourite character because he was sarcastic.
- 14:35Speaker 2: He was for a lot of the fans out there.
- 14:38Speaker 2: How he sort of struggled early on in his career,
- 14:41Speaker 2: then Friends came along, ba-boom, just superstardom. All of a sudden,
- 14:45Speaker 2: just a massive star into a sort of movie career.
- 14:49Speaker 2: But he also, of course, struggled with addiction.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Alcoholism and sort of other drugs, prescription drugs. He was
- 14:58Speaker 2: actually the first film he did which I can't remember
- 15:01Speaker 2: what it was called, but it was with Bruce Willis.
- 15:03Speaker 4: The whole nine yards.
- 15:04Speaker 2: The whole nine yards, thank you. And actually, it was
- 15:08Speaker 2: the one day that the director was away, and he
- 15:11Speaker 2: got on a jet ski, and he actually ended up
- 15:13Speaker 2: hurting himself on this jet ski, and they put him
- 15:16Speaker 2: on painkillers, which he went, oh, jeez, these are pretty nice.
- 15:19Speaker 4: The Oxys.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Quite liking this. And basically, it's the story of his life, really.
- 15:26Speaker 2: He was in and out of rehab all the time.
- 15:28Speaker 2: It was a real struggle for him. It's a very
- 15:31Speaker 2: sad story.
- 15:31Speaker 4: It is sad.
- 15:32Speaker 2: And it's one of those stories where so many people
- 15:35Speaker 2: that suffer from addiction just... You know, despite the fame,
- 15:39Speaker 2: despite the glamour, the money, all of that, it doesn't
- 15:42Speaker 2: give them what they need. You know what I mean?
- 15:45Speaker 2: And they don't feel a part of the world. And
- 15:47Speaker 2: he just isolated and got more and more out of it,
- 15:50Speaker 2: as you do as an addict, I guess. But it's
- 15:53Speaker 2: a very sad story. I've got to say, it's not
- 15:55Speaker 2: particularly compelling. No. I wasn't going, whoa, jeez. But it's
- 16:00Speaker 2: an interesting watch. I'll give it three buzzies out of
- 16:04Speaker 2: five on Netflix there.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Last night, my wife and I just wanted to watch
- 16:08Speaker 3: something chill, just to switch off, fellas. And we put
- 16:12Speaker 3: on TVNZ Plus and we watched Chateau DIY. Chateau DIY,
- 16:18Speaker 3: which is about people, English people, that buy a run-down
- 16:22Speaker 3: chateau or church or castle or something in France and
- 16:25Speaker 3: then try and reno it.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah, my wife loves that show.
- 16:27Speaker 3: It's a great show, and it's just like... Oh, this
- 16:30Speaker 3: chateau's got 16 rooms. We're trying to get one ready
- 16:33Speaker 3: in time for the flower show to host someone. And
- 16:36Speaker 3: then they show the room, and it is, like, completely effed.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Like, it is. It's crumbly.
- 16:42Speaker 3: It's not just a reno. The whole thing is just
- 16:44Speaker 3: absolutely stuffed. And then one guy's missus is just about
- 16:48Speaker 3: to have a baby, so they're quickly trying to do
- 16:50Speaker 3: up a spot for them to live, and they're running
- 16:52Speaker 3: out of time, and it's really stressful. I'm just like,
- 16:53Speaker 3: why would you do it?
- 16:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:54Speaker 3: But someone's got to do it to preserve these old buildings.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Very good. Is that the one with the little moat
- 16:59Speaker 2: around it?
- 16:59Speaker 3: Not this particular one.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Oh, right. The one we watch has got a little
- 17:03Speaker 2: lake around it. And the guy's a genius.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Well, that's the thing, though. You're either a genius or, like,
- 17:09Speaker 3: the people describe themselves as eternal optimists who think that
- 17:13Speaker 3: everything's going to be fine.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 17:14Speaker 3: And then they find out that it's actually.
- 17:16Speaker 4: It's going to be a disaster. It's good, though.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yeah. The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Welcome back, you massive bag bones. Hope you're surviving your
- 17:29Speaker 2: Thursday afternoon. You're listening to The Big Show brought to
- 17:32Speaker 2: you by Reburger.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Ah, that's really quite yummy. I was actually just chatting
- 17:41Speaker 2: to my wife regarding the dinner tonight, fellas. Funnily enough,
- 17:46Speaker 2: pork mince. Hoity J makes a very nice spicy pork mince,
- 17:51Speaker 2: which you then wrap in a lettuce leaf.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Nah.
- 17:54Speaker 3: That sounds shit.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Already it sounds like shit.
- 17:57Speaker 2: That sounds terrible. Stop it! It's really yum. It's really yum, right? No.
- 18:04Speaker 2: And I got all my little secret ingredients that I have.
- 18:07Speaker 4: Oh, paprika.
- 18:08Speaker 2: And my wife was like, oh, no, that's all right, babe.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I can do it. And I was like, oh.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Any idiot can do that.
- 18:15Speaker 2: You know, so I'm just sort of poised over my
- 18:18Speaker 2: phone now going, oh, should I, how do I put this?
- 18:22Speaker 2: Do I say, no, look, babe, because I've got a
- 18:24Speaker 2: secret recipe. My daughter loves it. It's one of her
- 18:27Speaker 2: favourite meals.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Is it just a jar of, like, chicken tonight or
- 18:30Speaker 3: whatever it's called?
- 18:31Speaker 4: Exactly, pork tonight.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Pork tonight.
- 18:34Speaker 3: A jar of pork tonight.
- 18:37Speaker 2: No, it's not, Daisy. Thanks very much. I expected more
- 18:42Speaker 2: support from you, given that I'm talking about pork mints.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Well, you know I love pork mints, but it's just
- 18:46Speaker 3: when I hear someone absolutely butchering it, it's like, oh.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I feel like porking tonight.
- 18:51Speaker 2: But anyway, I'm going to let it do it. We'll
- 18:52Speaker 2: see how we go.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Good on you, man.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Because I'm a backbone.
- 18:55Speaker 3: You're a legend, and you make delicious pork. Reburger tonight, fellas,
- 19:00Speaker 3: but more on that later.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, sounds good, man. In the meantime, how do
- 19:04Speaker 2: you feel like starting off with a bit of Foo Fighters?
- 19:07Speaker 3: I've never heard of them. Are they any good?
- 19:09Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Black Keys there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 19:16Speaker 2: Thursday afternoon, the time 5.13.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Fellas, I'm going away for the weekend to celebrate my
- 19:21Speaker 4: 50th birthday.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, how good?
- 19:22Speaker 4: It's pretty good. I've been getting hassled by some of
- 19:25Speaker 4: my old mates that I should be throwing a party.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Some kind of a big party. Some do. Yeah, and
- 19:31Speaker 4: they're like, oh, yeah, you're too cool now, eh, with
- 19:33Speaker 4: your famous mates. It's like... Who? I don't want a famous...
- 19:36Speaker 4: I don't want to party with famous people or any
- 19:39Speaker 4: other people, to be honest. Because it costs too much
- 19:41Speaker 4: money and then you just hang over for days. You
- 19:43Speaker 4: know what I mean?
- 19:43Speaker 3: Well, yeah, if you focus on the negative, sure.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's just like you're hung over for days
- 19:47Speaker 4: and you've spent all this money. What's the point, Keezy?
- 19:49Speaker 4: So I'm going away for four days with some mates.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Yep.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Have a few drinks, et cetera, et cetera. A few beers, et.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Cetera, et cetera. Hang on, it sounds like that's going
- 19:58Speaker 3: to cost a lot and you're going to be hung
- 19:59Speaker 3: over for days.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it's different. Anyway, I'm all excited about going away
- 20:04Speaker 4: on this trip and I run into the former partner
- 20:07Speaker 4: of a friend of mine who's going to be there.
- 20:10Speaker 4: And we're having some drinks and et cetera, et cetera.
- 20:13Speaker 4: And it comes up in the chat. She says, you know,
- 20:15Speaker 4: your mate there, my ex, he hates your taste in music. Right.
- 20:21Speaker 4: He hates it. And this is a turn up for
- 20:23Speaker 4: the books. This is a very, very good mate, you know,
- 20:26Speaker 4: top three mate sort of dude. And in my opinion,
- 20:31Speaker 4: I thought that we had exactly the same taste in music,
- 20:34Speaker 4: pretty much, give or take.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Aren't me, Pugs, and Jason the top three?
- 20:38Speaker 4: Not even close. Yeah, man.
- 20:40Speaker 2: I knew that, Keezy. Come on, man.
- 20:42Speaker 3: All right, number seven.
- 20:45Speaker 4: So anyway, what I thought would happen over there is
- 20:47Speaker 4: because it's my birthday.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:49Speaker 4: That I get to play the music.
- 20:51Speaker 3: All weekend.
- 20:52Speaker 4: All weekend. Wow. On the stereo there. So you have
- 20:56Speaker 4: a playlist for when you wake up, a playlist for
- 20:59Speaker 4: your lunchtime, et cetera, et cetera, afternoon, chilling, all that
- 21:02Speaker 4: sort of thing. So you wake up, you're going to
- 21:03Speaker 4: have some– Oh, you might have some fruits and bacon
- 21:08Speaker 4: and eggs and that sort of thing be outside on
- 21:10Speaker 4: the table there, Keezy.
- 21:11Speaker 3: It's beachfront, eh?
- 21:12Speaker 4: Yeah, and you're listening to Seek and Destroy by Metallica.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, how good.
- 21:17Speaker 3: So this is what it sounds like. They've got the
- 21:18Speaker 3: beach going there. You know.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. I'm into it.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Mogi puts his playlist on.
- 21:23Speaker 2: See your fire back up, Mogi. That's what you see,
- 21:25Speaker 2: your fire back up.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Doesn't that sound amazing?
- 21:31Speaker 2: That'd be so good.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Yeah, just to get the day started. Yeah. You know
- 21:36Speaker 4: what I mean? But now I'm going to know that
- 21:41Speaker 4: this mate of mine, this so-called mate of mine, is
- 21:44Speaker 4: actually sort of talking shit about me behind my back
- 21:47Speaker 4: and saying that Metallica's not cool.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Well, I don't think he said Metallica's not cool. I
- 21:53Speaker 3: think what he says is, oh, I'm not a huge
- 21:55Speaker 3: fan of Mogi's taste in music.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, well, he doesn't like it at all.
- 21:58Speaker 2: He hates it.
- 21:59Speaker 4: So I'm thinking about how do I uninvite him?
- 22:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:02Speaker 4: Because he's already paid the money. And I like his partner.
- 22:05Speaker 4: She can come.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 4: That's a tough one, isn't it? Have you ever had
- 22:09Speaker 4: to do that before?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Uninvite someone? Hmm.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Because, Jase, you would have gone away to an Airbnb
- 22:17Speaker 3: with all your mates heaps of times, eh?
- 22:20Speaker 2: Well, funnily enough, for one of my birthday celebrations, I
- 22:24Speaker 2: went to Waiheke as well.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Oh, yes, I remember.
- 22:27Speaker 2: In fact, it was.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Relatively recently because I remember telling you that you should
- 22:30Speaker 4: stop in with your wife and kids and come and
- 22:33Speaker 4: see us. And I remember standing at the window doing
- 22:36Speaker 4: the dishes and watching Jason and his family walk past
- 22:39Speaker 4: my house, not call me, not text me, nothing at all.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not really into your music, man. Having said that,
- 22:51Speaker 2: I don't mind a bit of Radiohead. Cheers.
- 22:54Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 22:57Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki. You guys ready
- 22:58Speaker 1: to rock? Let's rock, let's rock. Giga Little on Radio Hauraki.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Let's see who wants to hear the roar of the encore.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Cheers to Super Liquor.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I'm ready to rock, fellas.
- 23:12Speaker 4: It's funny you say that. It's probably the first time
- 23:14Speaker 4: I've noticed her saying that. Are you guys ready to rock?
- 23:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:19Speaker 4: What a great question that is. Are you ready to rock?
- 23:22Speaker 4: Are you ready to rock, Keezy?
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess so.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Well, you can't just say that flippantly offhand like that.
- 23:27Speaker 4: You have to really think about it because being ready
- 23:29Speaker 4: to rock is a serious business.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, man. You can't be half-assed about it, Keezy.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Well, in that case, I don't think I am ready
- 23:35Speaker 3: to rock.
- 23:35Speaker 4: No, it doesn't sound like you are.
- 23:36Speaker 2: You're looking a bit droopy-eyed.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Those are just my eyes.
- 23:39Speaker 5: Oh, right.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Hey, let's give away some cash, eh, fellas? G'day, Hamish,
- 23:47Speaker 2: you mad bastard. How's life?
- 23:49Speaker 4: Yeah, good, boys.
- 23:50Speaker 3: I'm ready to rock.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you're ready to rock. That's what I like to hear, Hamish.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Tell me, Hamish, what do you like to rock to?
- 23:59Speaker 3: Usually heavy metal.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 4: That's right.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I'm with you, man.
- 24:04Speaker 4: If you and I woke up together on a romantic island,
- 24:07Speaker 4: let's say Waiheke, Would you be offended if when I
- 24:11Speaker 4: put the croissants on, we played a little bit of
- 24:13Speaker 4: Master of Puppets, brother?
- 24:15Speaker 2: Nah, that sounds bloody good.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Yeah, good on you.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Yeah, sounds like shit.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Hey, Hamish, what do you do for a crust, mate?
- 24:25Speaker 1: I'm a truck driver.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, backbone.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Backbone.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Massive backbone.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Is there a rule at your company that you're not
- 24:31Speaker 4: allowed to pick up hitchhikers?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that is a rule.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's bullshit, man. What the hell, man?
- 24:37Speaker 2: God, that's how I got around the country back in
- 24:39Speaker 2: the day.
- 24:39Speaker 4: You'd never get a ride with a truck anymore.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Hey, Hamish, now is there any particular gig that you're
- 24:44Speaker 2: thinking you'd like to go to?
- 24:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm thinking Queens of the Stone Age or Kings
- 24:51Speaker 3: of Leon, one of the two.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Yeah. Have you seen either of them before?
- 24:57Speaker 2: No, I haven't.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Go to Queens of the Stone Age.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and I want to see Primus too.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Yeah, there you go. Two dudes, mate.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Well, I tell you what, Hamish, how about we chuck
- 25:07Speaker 2: $ 250 your way? How does that sound? Oh, shit, yeah, boys.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 2: No worries, mate.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Good on you, Hamish. Thanks for listening, mate. You hold
- 25:14Speaker 3: the line, all right?
- 25:15Speaker 2: Cheers, guys. Good on you, mate.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Backbone.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I mean, it's kind of a standard phrase for any
- 25:21Speaker 2: band member. You know, you get on the stage and
- 25:23Speaker 2: you're like... Are you ready to rock? Really? Dish, dish, dish, dish.
- 25:27Speaker 4: And when you think about it, it's kind of an
- 25:29Speaker 4: empty sort of.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, what does it even mean?
- 25:32Speaker 3: Well, I feel like it's quite old-fashioned. Like, I don't think...
- 25:34Speaker 3: Are you ready to rock? I haven't seen that on
- 25:36Speaker 3: stage for 40 years.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Yeah, but what's the last gig you went to?
- 25:40Speaker 3: Engelbert Humperdinck.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Literally.
- 25:43Speaker 3: And he was not rude.
- 25:45Speaker 4: He was not rude.
- 25:45Speaker 5: No.
- 25:46Speaker 2: He was past his prime, I think it's fair to say.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Past his prime. Hey, $ 250 to put towards the gig.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Thanks to Super Liquor. Keep an ear out. When you
- 25:57Speaker 3: hear the roar of the crowd, you give us a call.
- 25:59Speaker 3: 0800 HODAKI and you could win. That's cheers to Super
- 26:01Speaker 3: Liquor and cheers to gigs, eh, fellas?
- 26:02Speaker 2: Yeah, mate.
- 26:03Speaker 3: Hey, coming up next, the director and actor from the
- 26:07Speaker 3: classic Kiwi dark horror comedy.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Yes. Black Sheep. Black comedy.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Black comedy.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Black comedy, Black Sheep, they have 20 years later, it
- 26:15Speaker 3: came out in 2006, 20 years later this year, they
- 26:18Speaker 3: are releasing a sequel called Black Sheep.
- 26:20Speaker 4: Funnily enough, Nathan Meister, I worked with him on The Hobbit.
- 26:25Speaker 4: many years ago and I haven't seen him for years
- 26:27Speaker 4: and years he's been living in Denmark for the last
- 26:29Speaker 4: 13 years wow yeah with his missus there and three
- 26:32Speaker 4: children fellas so that was yeah I'm looking forward to
- 26:34Speaker 4: seeing him and he's the lead actor right he's the
- 26:37Speaker 4: lead actor yeah.
- 26:38Speaker 3: So we'll be chatting to them next and we've got
- 26:39Speaker 3: some double passes to give away to go and see
- 26:40Speaker 3: that film too so make sure you stick around.
- 26:45Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 26:48Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Thursday night's going
- 26:53Speaker 2: along very pleasantly indeed. You're currently listening to The Big
- 26:57Speaker 2: Show brought to you by Reburger.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. Reburger are redefining the norm.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Reburger.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Yeah, great stuff. Now, just an update on my pork
- 27:08Speaker 2: mince situation at home. There, fellas. I've agreed to allow
- 27:12Speaker 2: my wife to cook the pork mince tonight. and it'll
- 27:15Speaker 2: be interesting to see how it turns out.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Now, can we make a note of this? I want
- 27:18Speaker 4: to hear how it goes tomorrow.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:20Speaker 4: I insist.
- 27:21Speaker 2: You're not here tomorrow. I'll try not to be too critical.
- 27:24Speaker 4: Damn it.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Oh, no, you aren't.
- 27:26Speaker 4: I won't be here. I'm away tomorrow, fellas.
- 27:28Speaker 2: We could do it Monday.
- 27:29Speaker 4: Look, I'll tune in. I'll tune in to the show special.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yeah, good.
- 27:32Speaker 4: Specially.
- 27:33Speaker 3: I don't think we do it Monday. I don't think
- 27:34Speaker 3: we hold on four days.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Save it for Monday.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Oh, Tuesday. Tuesday, yeah, yeah. Of course, what's on the
- 27:39Speaker 2: dinner with me, Keith?
- 27:40Speaker 3: So we're going to wait five days so that Mogi
- 27:42Speaker 3: can find out how your pork mince was.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Well, I think it's going to lead to a five-day
- 27:47Speaker 4: spell of silent treatment from old Horty J. I've got
- 27:49Speaker 4: a vibe.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Yeah, well, who knows?
- 27:51Speaker 3: Can I guess some of the ingredients in your pork mince?
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Fish sauce?
- 27:54Speaker 2: No.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Paprika?
- 27:56Speaker 2: No.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Oyster sauce?
- 27:57Speaker 4: Oregano?
- 27:58Speaker 2: A little bit of oyster sauce, yes.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Lime juice?
- 28:01Speaker 2: No.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Salt, a little bit of pepper?
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Chili flakes?
- 28:05Speaker 2: Yes. Parsley?
- 28:08Speaker 3: Oh, what's that?
- 28:09Speaker 2: Coriander.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Oh, nice.
- 28:11Speaker 3: What's that sweet sauce?
- 28:12Speaker 2: Sweet Thai chili sauce? No.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Oh, do you put that in it?
- 28:14Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 28:16Speaker 3: No, the other stuff, the Japanese stuff.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Oh, the gyozu or something.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Oh, what's it called? Where's Pugs when you need them?
- 28:24Speaker 3: Where is Pugs when you need them?
- 28:26Speaker 2: But look, I'm not going to give away all the
- 28:28Speaker 2: ingredients because it's delicious and I don't want anyone copying me.
- 28:31Speaker 3: I don't think anyone's going to steal your pork mince recipe.
- 28:34Speaker 2: You'd be surprised, Keezy.
- 28:36Speaker 3: I'd be very surprised. Hey, do you guys like Audio Slave?
- 28:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I do, actually.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Because this is a tune.
- 28:42Speaker 4: Yeah, this is a tune. Turn it up. Turn it up, man.
- 28:44Speaker 4: It's louder.
- 28:45Speaker 3: It's as loud as it goes.
- 28:47Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 28:50Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Sublime there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this Thursday evening. Now,
- 28:58Speaker 2: it's a very special night for old Keezy, as mentioned
- 29:00Speaker 2: earlier in the show. It's his last night and his...
- 29:03Speaker 2: His old house, fellas.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:05Speaker 2: And rather graciously, I thought, he decided that he wanted
- 29:10Speaker 2: the fellas to come over and have a bit of
- 29:11Speaker 2: a potluck with our partners. No, I didn't. To celebrate
- 29:14Speaker 2: the last night of his house, which I thought, Mogi,
- 29:17Speaker 2: was actually, you know, quite a bold move. I would
- 29:20Speaker 2: have personally preferred in that situation to just spend that
- 29:23Speaker 2: time with my wife and remembering the memories. But he said, no, no.
- 29:26Speaker 3: All packing up the house.
- 29:27Speaker 2: I want the fellas to come over, and he's even
- 29:29Speaker 2: kept out some cutlery and bowls, et cetera, et cetera, especially. Now,
- 29:35Speaker 2: whilst I was happy to do this, I also, there
- 29:37Speaker 2: was a certain amount of trepidation of going, back to
- 29:40Speaker 2: the scene of the crime, I guess you could say.
- 29:42Speaker 3: What crime are you talking about, Jase? Are you talking
- 29:44Speaker 3: about me cooking a delicious meal for everyone?
- 29:47Speaker 2: And so I reluctantly agreed, but no, I've got to
- 29:52Speaker 2: be honest with you, Kesey, very much looking forward to it.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Pugs is here, by the way.
- 29:58Speaker 4: Hi, Pugs. Oh, evening, fellas. Thanks for having me.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all good.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Sorry, so just confirming that this is complete bullshit. My
- 30:09Speaker 3: house is completely packed up. I don't even have a
- 30:12Speaker 3: dinner table or chairs, anything in the kitchen. It's completely empty.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Can we get takeaways?
- 30:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Well, I'm getting re-buried tonight.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Oh, great.
- 30:19Speaker 2: You did say it was going to be rustic, so
- 30:21Speaker 2: that's all right. We don't mind a bit of food
- 30:23Speaker 2: on the old lap, do we, fellas?
- 30:25Speaker 3: Excuse me.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Especially if it's re-buried, you. I prefer it.
- 30:28Speaker 5: Yes.
- 30:29Speaker 3: No, no. Unfortunately, I'm never hosting a potluck ever again.
- 30:34Speaker 2: You haven't at all anyway.
- 30:35Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 30:37Speaker 2: Your meal was not a potluck. A potluck is when
- 30:39Speaker 2: everyone brings something over. You cooked everything yourself, sadly.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Hey, fellas. Just quickly, what are we doing here?
- 30:50Speaker 4: Is this... I'm just sitting here.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Is this get the whole crew together and then that
- 30:55Speaker 3: seems like a real shit on Keezy's meal that he
- 30:57Speaker 3: made three weeks ago. Jase is really leading the charge here.
- 31:01Speaker 5: No.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Hey. Just jokes.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Hey, we have fun.
- 31:06Speaker 2: We have fun. Just jokes. But, you know, in terms of... Hey, folks,
- 31:12Speaker 2: can you come in?
- 31:13Speaker 3: I'm just going to wail on Keezy.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Is there.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I mean, do you need us to bring some stuff, Keezy?
- 31:23Speaker 2: Some drinks or something like that?
- 31:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's a potluck, obviously, Jase, so you'll
- 31:27Speaker 3: be bringing one of the... What meal have you made?
- 31:29Speaker 2: Oh, I made a bean salad. LAUGHTER That's good.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Bean salad, okay. Hey, Moggy, what are you making?
- 31:43Speaker 2: Oh, nothing.
- 31:43Speaker 4: I don't like bean salad. I'll stay at home, actually.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Okay, that's good, actually.
- 31:49Speaker 3: My score should be slightly better, folks. Okay. Pugs, what
- 32:02Speaker 3: are you bringing?
- 32:05Speaker 2: Sticky beef or something like that? Pugs, what are you
- 32:07Speaker 2: bringing along?
- 32:08Speaker 4: Has anybody got an out here?
- 32:09Speaker 3: All right, stuff you. Here's the ads.
- 32:14Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 32:20Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Guns. Roses there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 32:27Speaker 2: Thursday evening.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Oh, fellas, fellas, fellas. It's good stuff. It sure is, man.
- 32:33Speaker 3: A funny text has just come in here.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Well, it hasn't just come in. It came in ages ago.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Mogi's just drawn my attention to it. A true New
- 32:40Speaker 3: Zealand horror film, Jason Hoyt's performance in Young Hercules. LAUGHTER
- 32:48Speaker 3: Have you ever watched it back?
- 32:51Speaker 2: Where I played Hephaestus.
- 32:52Speaker 3: What was that, like 25 years ago?
- 32:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be something like that. No, I think
- 32:58Speaker 2: I might have seen snippets of it, but no, I've
- 32:59Speaker 2: never watched the whole thing. Yeah, right.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Hey, fellas, tomorrow we are going to be broadcasting live
- 33:05Speaker 3: from Eden Park, and that is to celebrate the Black Caps–
- 33:11Speaker 3: Going down 4-0 to India.
- 33:14Speaker 4: I'm gutted I won't be able to be there, fellas.
- 33:15Speaker 4: I'll be over on Waiheke.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a shame.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Jeez. Gutted.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it sucks.
- 33:20Speaker 2: I can see you're really upset, bud. Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Well, it's going to be bloody awesome because obviously Eden
- 33:25Speaker 3: Park has sold out. We are taking on India in
- 33:27Speaker 3: a T20 and we are live from the brand new
- 33:30Speaker 3: Coca-Cola Field Club, which is a brand new part. Of
- 33:33Speaker 3: the Lower West Stand. They've spent millions on the sucker
- 33:37Speaker 3: getting it all ready.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Yes. I saw it. We saw it, didn't we? Because
- 33:40Speaker 4: old Pug's son sent us a video. It looks bloody good.
- 33:42Speaker 4: It does.
- 33:42Speaker 2: It's right at ground level. And I remember once I
- 33:46Speaker 2: got into a corporate box at Eden Park to watch
- 33:48Speaker 2: a cricket match. One of the best watching experiences of
- 33:51Speaker 2: my life.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Yes.
- 33:52Speaker 5: Really?
- 33:53Speaker 2: I mean, it helped that there was free piss and
- 33:54Speaker 2: food as well. But it was amazing. Who won? West
- 33:59Speaker 2: Indies on that occasion.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:01Speaker 4: Or something?
- 34:02Speaker 2: Something. It's got a bit of acid in the old
- 34:04Speaker 2: chest there.
- 34:04Speaker 3: That's all good. Look, this new spot, the Coca-Cola Field Club,
- 34:08Speaker 3: is right on the grass with the ultimate view as
- 34:10Speaker 3: you get your ground level perspective right at the edge
- 34:12Speaker 3: of the pitch. So it's good watching. If you are
- 34:15Speaker 3: planning on heading to the cricket, the best part is
- 34:17Speaker 3: if you've got a GA ticket, you can enter the
- 34:21Speaker 3: Coca-Cola Field Club.
- 34:22Speaker 4: That's it.
- 34:22Speaker 3: It's not a corporate area. It's going to be rammed.
- 34:25Speaker 3: A GA ticket, 100%.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:26Speaker 3: So we'll be there.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Is GA like general admission?
- 34:29Speaker 4: It's like that, but slightly different, yeah.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Okay.
- 34:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. So we're going to be there broadcasting from
- 34:35Speaker 3: 4 until 7, and then the game obviously gets underway
- 34:39Speaker 3: at 8 p.m. Eden Park tomorrow. If you'd like a
- 34:41Speaker 3: double pass to head along, it's 100% sold out. Text
- 34:44Speaker 3: us now on 3483. And let us know who you'd
- 34:48Speaker 3: like to take with you.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, man.
- 34:50Speaker 3: That easy.
- 34:51Speaker 2: God, I'm fizzing about this.
- 34:52Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 34:56Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Blink 182 there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this
- 35:02Speaker 2: Thursday evening.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Fellas, when we first came into the office today, there
- 35:08Speaker 4: was a couple of massive deliveries of food. One was
- 35:11Speaker 4: a whole bunch of cheese balls that, Jase, you received.
- 35:13Speaker 2: From old Bodie, yes.
- 35:14Speaker 4: From Bodie Barrett. Very generous. And then on the table,
- 35:17Speaker 4: there was just a huge amount of fast food from
- 35:20Speaker 4: a supplier whose name we won't mention. But one of
- 35:22Speaker 4: the bags was rammed with pottles of sweet and sour sauce. Now,
- 35:29Speaker 4: I went through the bags and there was bags of
- 35:32Speaker 4: fries and there was bags, there was like a couple
- 35:34Speaker 4: of other things in there and not a hell of
- 35:36Speaker 4: a lot. But the main thing by the time we
- 35:38Speaker 4: got here, because of course this was delivered God knows
- 35:40Speaker 4: how many hours ago, Was these sweet and sour, pottles
- 35:43Speaker 4: of sweet and sour sauce. Now, we're out there, and
- 35:47Speaker 4: old Keezy rolls in, and his eyes absolutely light up.
- 35:51Speaker 2: They lit up, yeah.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Double fisting into the bag, scooping out armfuls of these
- 35:56Speaker 4: little pottles of sweet and sour sauce. And from what
- 36:00Speaker 4: I can understand, Keezy, you're taking them home. You've always
- 36:03Speaker 4: wanted your own supply of sweet and sour sauce. It
- 36:05Speaker 4: was the behavior of someone living in a flat.
- 36:07Speaker 2: 100%.
- 36:09Speaker 3: And the thing is, right, I've got fries in my
- 36:12Speaker 3: deep freeze.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Right.
- 36:14Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 36:15Speaker 3: Like, I've got oven fries in my deep freeze.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Yeah, right. Shoestring. Oh, okay.
- 36:20Speaker 2: I like a shoestring.
- 36:21Speaker 3: And so what I'm trying to do is recreate having
- 36:23Speaker 3: fast food fries at my house. And so when I saw,
- 36:27Speaker 3: because we actually got dropped off those bags.
- 36:29Speaker 4: I've never seen you so happy.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Wow.
- 36:33Speaker 3: It's because I'm here at work. You're never really going
- 36:36Speaker 3: to see me that stoked. But we actually got given
- 36:38Speaker 3: all that food by another radio station.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Yeah, it was their leftovers, wasn't it?
- 36:42Speaker 3: Zedium's leftovers.
- 36:42Speaker 2: We always get the leftovers, you know, the remnants of
- 36:46Speaker 2: a half-chewed-on burger and a few soggy chickies.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Bags of pottles of sweet and sour sauce. Now, they
- 36:52Speaker 4: didn't realise that this was Keezy's dream come true.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Well, it wasn't my dream come true, but I certainly
- 36:56Speaker 3: was stoked to have, like, imagine that. Like, oh, let's
- 36:59Speaker 3: have chips. Oh, I'll get some sweet and sour sauce out.
- 37:01Speaker 3: From the old, from the big shipment.
- 37:06Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Imagine that.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Are you going to hide them? I mean, what about
- 37:10Speaker 2: your lovely wife?
- 37:11Speaker 3: Oh, no, she won't find out.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Fellas, and if word gets out. If I find out
- 37:17Speaker 3: my wife is having any of my 20 bottles of sauce,
- 37:20Speaker 3: I'll be fuming.
- 37:21Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Because you're actually, you like to make a kind of
- 37:26Speaker 2: replica of this fast food chain's, a certain burger of theirs. Oh, yes.
- 37:32Speaker 2: So imagine that you can make that, Keezy.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Right? Then have your own little shoestring fries. Yeah. And
- 37:40Speaker 2: your own little bottles of sweet and sour sauce. It'll
- 37:43Speaker 2: be like the real deal, man.
- 37:45Speaker 3: It'll be just like the real deal. It'll be about
- 37:46Speaker 3: 50 times more work and it won't taste as good probably,
- 37:50Speaker 3: but good fun.
- 37:51Speaker 4: You'll be happy as, man.
- 37:52Speaker 3: But don't you, I think life is about enjoying the
- 37:55Speaker 3: little things like my face lighting up at some free sauce.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Well, my face lit up when I saw your face
- 38:00Speaker 4: lit up.
- 38:01Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 38:02Speaker 4: You know, that's what gave me great joy, seeing you
- 38:05Speaker 4: fizzing about puddles of sweet and sour sauce.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Yeah, man, it's the little things in life.
- 38:09Speaker 2: It is, Keezy. I mean, my face lit up when
- 38:13Speaker 2: old Bodie sent me a pallet of cheese balls.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Well, you should probably address that. When did that happen?
- 38:18Speaker 2: Well, we'll talk about it in tomorrow's show.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Oh, you're going to save it.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to sample them tonight.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Right, so he just randomly sent you, okay, we'll talk
- 38:26Speaker 3: about it tomorrow.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he did send me a message and said, Jase,
- 38:28Speaker 2: have you ever tried these cheese balls?
- 38:31Speaker 3: Yeah, all those ones you were saying were shit.
- 38:33Speaker 4: It sounds like he's trying to get into your pants.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Yeah, probably.
- 38:36Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 38:40Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 38:49Speaker 2: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 38:54Speaker 5: <HAL> <HAL>.
- 39:00Speaker 2: There you go, you mad bastards. That's a big show
- 39:02Speaker 2: done and dusted for your Thursday night. And the disclaimer today,
- 39:06Speaker 2: I don't know, it's bonus material. We've lost the plot.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Bonus material we do before the show. What's the clip today, Keezy?
- 39:16Speaker 3: Today's clip, it is bonus. Mogi has lost it.
- 39:20Speaker 2: He's gone mad.
- 39:21Speaker 3: It is bonus material. It comes out at 7.30 tonight
- 39:23Speaker 3: wherever you get your podcasts from. Today's clip is helping
- 39:27Speaker 3: with the move.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Do-do, do-do. I may not be a fan of the
- 39:33Speaker 2: area you're living in, and it may have brought back
- 39:36Speaker 2: some nightmares for me going back there, but I would
- 39:40Speaker 2: have helped, man.
- 39:41Speaker 4: What if?
- 39:41Speaker 2: In terms of directing you as to where to put
- 39:43Speaker 2: it and how to stack it.
- 39:45Speaker 3: To make you feel more at home, what if I
- 39:47Speaker 3: just stood in public... with that.
- 39:49Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Yeah, because that makes me feel really at home.
- 39:57Speaker 4: In reference to me spotting someone on the street having
- 39:59Speaker 4: a go at himself.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Yes, yes. It's been a while since I've seen that.
- 40:03Speaker 2: Since from my apartment.
- 40:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:05Speaker 2: So there was a bit of that chat as well
- 40:07Speaker 2: going on.
- 40:07Speaker 4: It's good stuff.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Did that ever happen to you when you lived out west?
- 40:11Speaker 4: No.
- 40:11Speaker 3: There you go.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Yeah. No, no. Hey, Mogi, your plans for the night?
- 40:17Speaker 2: You're off now, of course, mate. I'm off, mate. You're
- 40:19Speaker 2: not going to be in the show tomorrow.
- 40:21Speaker 4: A few days off, yes, and you've got a mate
- 40:23Speaker 4: coming over for dinner tonight, so I've got to go home.
- 40:25Speaker 2: I've got to pack.
- 40:25Speaker 4: I've got too much stuff to take. I'm taking my
- 40:28Speaker 4: golf clubs, man, over the lake. I'm playing two rounds
- 40:30Speaker 4: of golf.
- 40:30Speaker 2: How good.
- 40:31Speaker 4: How good.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 40:32Speaker 4: Well, probably horrendous, but that'll be fun, and yeah, just
- 40:36Speaker 4: generally packing up, fellas, and God, I'll gut it. I'm
- 40:38Speaker 4: not going to be able to do the live show
- 40:40Speaker 4: with you tomorrow, but... Obviously, I don't like missing those.
- 40:43Speaker 4: The main thing I'm gutted about is not being with
- 40:44Speaker 4: you for the cricket, but I know you'll fly the
- 40:47Speaker 4: flag for us and cheer the boys home. Good on you.
- 40:49Speaker 2: Thanks, mate.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Good on you, fellas. Late one, too. I think it
- 40:51Speaker 4: finishes after midnight, so good on you. Hopefully.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. It's going to be a hell of a tussle. Keezy,
- 40:57Speaker 2: your answer tonight, man.
- 41:00Speaker 3: Well, my house is completely empty.
- 41:01Speaker 5: Oh, of course.
- 41:01Speaker 4: We'll see you soon.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, for the potluck. But my wife and I
- 41:05Speaker 3: are having re-burger and then probably watching something on my
- 41:08Speaker 3: laptop and then sleeping on our mattress, which is on
- 41:11Speaker 3: the floor. It's weird, isn't it? It is weird. Then
- 41:14Speaker 3: tomorrow morning we'll pack all the last of it up
- 41:16Speaker 3: and vacuum and wipe down the house because it'll need it.
- 41:20Speaker 4: Hey, here he is.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Come on, man.
- 41:21Speaker 4: Because he'll be, you know.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Mattresses are such a bastard of a thing, I find.
- 41:27Speaker 2: I hate mattresses. Why? Well, they're just so awkward and annoying.
- 41:31Speaker 4: Do you mean to move? Yeah. Yeah.
- 41:33Speaker 2: To cart around the place.
- 41:35Speaker 4: When was the last time you picked up a mattress?
- 41:37Speaker 2: Or to get rid of. You know, they're a pain
- 41:39Speaker 2: to get rid of as well.
- 41:40Speaker 4: I quite like them.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Because a lot of places won't take a mattress.
- 41:44Speaker 4: You know, the percentage of your time you spend trying
- 41:46Speaker 4: to move them or get rid of them is probably about... 0.001%
- 41:51Speaker 4: of the time that you have a mattress and the
- 41:53Speaker 4: rest of the time it's either just in there on
- 41:54Speaker 4: its own doing nothing. Or you're lying on it sleeping
- 41:57Speaker 4: like shit. No, you're right, Jase. I hate them too.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks, man.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Wow, that was weird. You guys hate mattresses. Okay, Jase,
- 42:04Speaker 3: you've got 15 seconds. What are you up to tonight?
- 42:06Speaker 2: Why only 15 seconds, man?
- 42:08Speaker 3: It's because the music's about to finish.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Oh, it doesn't matter.
- 42:10Speaker 4: Guys, I've got to catch my ferry.
- 42:11Speaker 2: The movies. I've got to go, fellas. Neither here nor there.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Got my ferry there in debt.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Okay.
- 42:16Speaker 2: So, what am I doing? That is a good question.
- 42:19Speaker 4: No, it's not.
