- 0:13Lord, we are here today to learn more about you.
- 0:18Hide me and hide my words. Hide my thoughts.
- 0:22Holy Spirit, You say whatever it is that you want to say today.
- 0:28Lord, I get out of the way. And Lord, I just pray right now,
- 0:33God, that this will go out to the ends of the earth.
- 0:37Lord, I pray for every nationality.
- 0:41God, I pray for every people group.
- 0:44God, I pray for every language and every tongue.
- 0:47God, I pray for all men and women across this entire globe,
- 0:53Father, to come to know you as their Lord, to come to know the
- 1:00Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
- 1:05God, I pray for a supernatural outpouring of the Holy Spirit
- 1:10all throughout every single continent.
- 1:15Lord, I pray for a global revival.
- 1:18Lord, I pray that we come in to the saving knowledge that Jesus
- 1:24Christ has come and that Jesus Christ will come and that Jesus
- 1:32Christ is coming. So Lord, we cry out.
- 1:37Maranatha, Lord, we just want more of you.
- 1:43Lord, we want to dine and to Sup with you.
- 1:47Lord, we want to feel your presence and to know that You're
- 1:51near, to know that You are for us and not against us.
- 1:55God, we want to know that you're fighting our battles.
- 1:59Lord, we do the natural, but we're asking for the Super.
- 2:05God and I know together we will do supernatural things together.
- 2:10Lord, let us see miracles and visions.
- 2:14God, let us see visitations, God, upon those who do not have
- 2:21the gospel available to him. Father, I pray for the men in
- 2:25white to be revealed to them, Lord Yeshua ha Messiah, Lord, we
- 2:32pray that He will reveal His messianic title to those all
- 2:39over this world. Father, just continue to outpour
- 2:44into all nations. God, we specifically pray for
- 2:49Israel. Lord, we pray for Jerusalem.
- 2:52Father, we pray for protection and deliverance from their
- 2:56enemies. Father, I pray in the name of
- 2:59Jesus, Lord, that you will bring about all of your plans and
- 3:06purposes and prophecies that are contained in this infallible and
- 3:11errant word that we hold in our hands.
- 3:15God, we get out of the way. We give you center stage, we
- 3:19give you the whole space. We give you our everything.
- 3:23We give you all of ourselves. Nothing held back.
- 3:28Fill us today in the mighty name of Jesus.
- 3:32God, fill us with the Holy Ghost.
- 3:34Give us the mind of Christ. God, give us a sound mind.
- 3:38God, we pray against confusion, in the name of Jesus.
- 3:43Lord, we pray against mental illness.
- 3:46In the name of Jesus. God, we pray against cancer and
- 3:50diabetes, In the name of Jesus, we pray against hypertension,
- 3:54heart disease, in the name of Jesus.
- 3:56God, we pray against Alzheimer's and dementia in the name of
- 4:00Jesus. God, we pray against tumors.
- 4:03Lord, we pray against childhood illnesses.
- 4:07God, we pray, Father, for sound bodies, Lord, that are able to
- 4:12do the work that you have called us into.
- 4:15Lord, let us look up and see that the harvest is plenty, but
- 4:19the workers are few. And Father, restore our bodies
- 4:24so that we can do whatever it is that you've called us into for
- 4:27today. Not to live selfishly, not to
- 4:31live for pleasure and pleasantries, God, but we want
- 4:36to be found putting our hand to the plow and locking eyes with
- 4:39you. Help us not to be distracted,
- 4:41God. We just want Christ and Christ
- 4:47crucified. We want to know you and all your
- 4:51sufferings, God, we want to know you intimately and deeply, Lord,
- 4:57we want to see you high and lift it up over our houses.
- 5:02The banner over our families, God, we wave that banner of
- 5:08Yeshua over every single emotion and circumstance, every single
- 5:14feeling. God, we make them subject to the
- 5:18reality that Jesus is Lord. Open up our hearts and our minds
- 5:25today as we open up Your word. Let us hide it, God, so that we
- 5:29might not sin against you. Come Lord, come the Spirit and
- 5:36the bride says come and it's in Jesus Christ.
- 5:41Holy precious, powerful name that I pray, Amen.
- 5:52Well, let's start in verse one. And it came to pass that after
- 5:59we were gotten from them and had launched, we came with a
- 6:05straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes,
- 6:12and from there unto Patara. So here we go.
- 6:17We know that Paul has set his face like a Flint towards
- 6:23Jerusalem. It should be a place of peace.
- 6:27But all we find here in this passage, and even when Christ
- 6:32was heading into that place, and all you're going to find is a
- 6:35bunch of controversy and strife because it has not been made the
- 6:40place of peace that it will become in the thousand year
- 6:44reign of Christ. Friends, it will be a peaceful
- 6:48place, and all the nations will flow into there to learn about
- 6:53the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
- 6:56And you're going to see here that Paul has launched out, even
- 7:01though he knows that he's going into the frying pan, he knows
- 7:06that he's going into the lion's den.
- 7:09Let's see how it turns out for him.
- 7:11Verse 2 And finding a ship sailing over unto Phoenicia, we
- 7:18went aboard and set forth. 3 Now when we had discovered Cyprus,
- 7:25we left it on the left hand and sailed into Syria and landed at
- 7:32Tyre, for there the ship was to unload her burden.
- 7:39So we can see that Paul is traveling along and he was a
- 7:46traveling minister, taking the whole word to the whole world.
- 7:50And that is our call. That is what we are called to
- 7:53do. Friends, we cannot just sit on
- 7:56our blessed assurance. We must take the word out to
- 8:02Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria, out to the ends of the earth.
- 8:08And we know that that is the Lord's heart.
- 8:12It's for all people. Yes, the Jews are His chosen
- 8:16people, but His heart is for all people.
- 8:19For we know that God so loved the world that He gave His only
- 8:22Son. Whosoever will believe in him
- 8:26shall not perish, but have eternal life.
- 8:28You see that his heart is not just for the Jews, but it's for
- 8:34the Gentiles. And we know that the Jews are
- 8:37blessed because of the Messiah and the lineage, and they were
- 8:41trusted with God's Word to preserve it.
- 8:44And look how we're still talking about Him today for and finding
- 8:51disciples. We tarried their seven days who
- 8:55said to Paul through the Spirit that he should not go up to
- 8:59Jerusalem. So it's amazing how we're not
- 9:03told in prior passages about there being disciples entire,
- 9:09but he found some, which proves that this early Christian
- 9:13movement has affected all of the lands around it.
- 9:19This story of the carpenter's son going to the cross and
- 9:24claiming to be the Son of God and then being resurrected on
- 9:28the third day and appearing to many and ascending to the right
- 9:32hand of God. And all of the stories connected
- 9:36and talking about John the Baptist.
- 9:38This is all rocked the world, friends, and it has reverberated
- 9:46all the way to this day and this hour that you and I find
- 9:51ourselves in. There's been many campaigns to
- 9:54dispute, to discredit the Word of God, but it is always
- 10:00resulted in the demise of anyone who has set themselves against
- 10:08Yeshua and against Yahweh. What you need to know is that
- 10:16anytime you try to push down the seed, it only springs up and
- 10:22becomes more fruitful. Any any time you try to kill the
- 10:29life source, it only multiplies. And you've seen many people who
- 10:35are hostile towards God and towards His church and towards
- 10:41His Holy Word. And you see those same people
- 10:44become believers. Because as you peel back all the
- 10:47layers, it proves itself. Archaeology proves it.
- 10:52History proves it. You cannot shut it up.
- 10:56You cannot shut it out. It will breakthrough because it
- 11:00is life and life everlasting. The Word of God became flesh,
- 11:07and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
- 11:10And you need to know that it is only by Jesus Christ that we're
- 11:15going to make it unto the Father.
- 11:20So here these disciples that were in Tyre said to Paul
- 11:31through the Spirit that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
- 11:35So these disciples were hijacked by the Holy Spirit and they were
- 11:39given visions of what Paul was to suffer, and then through
- 11:45their carnal thinking, after receiving this vision, through
- 11:51their carnal thinking, their warning him not to go.
- 11:55But Paul knows that it he must suffer.
- 11:58He was told about it all the way back on the road to Damascus,
- 12:03whenever he was on Straight St. and Jesus was showing him all
- 12:07the things that he must suffer for his name's sake. 5 And when
- 12:14we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way,
- 12:20and they all brought us on our way with wives and children
- 12:24until we were out of the city, and we knelt down on the shore
- 12:29and prayed. So here you can see Luke is with
- 12:32him, this physician, the writer of the book of Acts, he's with
- 12:36Paul at this moment. He's saying.
- 12:38We knelt down and prayed. They all followed him out to the
- 12:43boat, and there they were hugging him and wishing him well
- 12:49and trying to get him not to go to Jerusalem because they knew
- 12:53it was going to result in the loss of his life.
- 12:56And they all knelt down and prayed.
- 12:59How amazing is this scene? I pray that you can see it in
- 13:02the theater of your mind. 6 And when we had taken our leave, one
- 13:08of another, we took ship, and they returned home again. 7 And
- 13:13when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Pilatimus
- 13:20and saluted the brothers, and stayed with them one day. 8 And
- 13:26the next day we that were of Paul's company departed and came
- 13:31unto Caesarea, and we entered into the House of Philip the
- 13:36Evangelist, which was one of the seven, and abode with him.
- 13:43So here we know that this was Philip who was chosen to help
- 13:48administer to the Hellenists and the new converts and the
- 13:56apostles decided that it was better for them to preach the
- 14:00Word and to set their faces to prayer.
- 14:03And we know that Philip was chosen in that.
- 14:06And then he was also the one who helped the Ethiopian eunuch come
- 14:12to salvation, and he baptized them, and then he disappeared.
- 14:16And look, we find him here again in Caesarea.
- 14:21How amazing is the Word of God, how it supports itself and it's
- 14:25all congruent and it's all beautiful.
- 14:29It is the tapestry, layers upon layers.
- 14:33Friends, you can never touch the bottom.
- 14:36And here we find. And he has a wonderful title
- 14:39attached to his name. He was Philip the evangelist.
- 14:46Can that be said of you, friends?
- 14:48Are you an evangelist for the Lord Jesus Christ?
- 14:51Do you go to your workplace and do you count the cost and not
- 14:57care if you are ridiculed and made fun of and held back from
- 15:02promotions because of your faith?
- 15:04I pray that your witness is so strong, like Daniel, when they
- 15:09tried to bring up and drudge up some kind of dirt on them, they
- 15:12couldn't find any. I pray that that is your
- 15:17calling. I pray that that is your story
- 15:21is that you have integrity, and because of that integrity, your
- 15:28workplace finds you invaluable. And because they find you
- 15:32invaluable, they turn the other way whenever you evangelize.
- 15:40That is what we're called to. Too many times you see people
- 15:44who are legalistic in their approach to God, but they do not
- 15:50have the love of Jesus and their workplace finds it very easy to
- 15:55let them go. They're looking for a reason to
- 15:58let them go. And whenever you cross the line
- 16:01and try to witness to others because of your dogmatic
- 16:05approach and you're unwilling to love like Christ, it's a whole
- 16:11lot easier for them to call you into HR and to let you go.
- 16:16We need to be so incredibly good at what we do because we work
- 16:23unto the Lord and not to man, that when we evangelize, they
- 16:29have to wrestle with it. Friends, praise God.
- 16:33Hallelujah for workplace evangelists.
- 16:36I pray that you're 1, 9 and the same man had four daughters,
- 16:52virgins, which did prophecy. We're not necessarily told here
- 16:58any of the prophetic revelations of these four daughters.
- 17:03We just know that Philip was blessed to have these daughters
- 17:08who were known for their prophetic office and prophetic
- 17:13gifts. 10 And as we stayed there many days, there came down from
- 17:19Judea a certain prophet named Agabus. 11 And when he was come
- 17:27unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and
- 17:32feet, and said, This is what the Holy Ghost says.
- 17:37So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owns this
- 17:42belt, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
- 17:47So this old Agabus had a corner on this prophetic vision of what
- 17:52was to happen to Paul, and he's already been warned by the
- 17:59disciples entire not to go, that the Holy Spirit revealed to them
- 18:04what is going to happen to him. And then it is confirmed here by
- 18:08Agabus and that is the way of the Lord.
- 18:10I want you to know friends, God will confirm and reconfirm His
- 18:16will for your life. He knows that we are daft.
- 18:21He knows that we need repetition.
- 18:27He knows it. That is why he re tells the same
- 18:32stories over and over and over again in the Word of God.
- 18:38If so, that it'll stick. And when He calls you into
- 18:41something, we cannot be led by emotions.
- 18:45If somebody can talk you into something, somebody else can
- 18:49talk you out of it. We need to be resolute in our
- 18:53convictions because we know that they're from God.
- 18:57And if you have a calling placed on your life, God is faithful to
- 19:01reveal it and re reveal it to you again to confirm it in your
- 19:07lives. And that is what is happening
- 19:09here. Paul had already been told about
- 19:11it, about the things that he must suffer, and then he told
- 19:16them whenever he was preaching that they would not see him
- 19:19again. And then the disciples of Tyre
- 19:22tells him not to go because of what he's to suffer.
- 19:26And then here comes Agabus, and he does a whole display here of
- 19:34taking Paul's belt and tying his hands with it, and saying that
- 19:39Paul would be bound like this. 12 And when we heard these
- 19:47things, both we and they of that place begged him not to go up to
- 19:55Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, What do you mean,
- 20:00weeping? And to break my heart, for I am
- 20:05ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem.
- 20:11For the name of the Lord Jesus. Paul goes on to say that to live
- 20:17is Christ and to die is gain. And that's what you need to
- 20:22understand here, friends, is that Paul is not afraid of death
- 20:28and we should not be afraid of the chariot that God chooses to
- 20:32come and to carry us home. We cannot let fear be our
- 20:37motivator throughout this life. Fear is a liar.
- 20:41Fear is of the devil. Fear and faith cannot
- 20:45cohabitate. And even when you still have
- 20:48that stage 4 cancer report, even when you still have that prison
- 20:54sentence hanging over you, it does not mean that God is not
- 20:59all powerful. God can do anything.
- 21:02He can dissolve those cancer cells in a moment and restore
- 21:07you. God can remove and give you a
- 21:09good judgment and 'cause you your whole case to be
- 21:15exonerated. But what you need to know is
- 21:17just like John the Baptist when you're left in prison, and just
- 21:21like Stephen, whenever you are stoned to death, God is right
- 21:26there with you. We cannot be afraid of death.
- 21:30We must put that to bed, put that to rest.
- 21:36Take it outside in the streets. It cannot cohabitate with faith.
- 21:41No matter what circumstance you find yourself in.
- 21:44Increase your faith today. Increase your prayer life today
- 21:49and watch how God is closer than the skin on your body and watch
- 21:54how He's there with you and He gracefully walks you through
- 21:58that process. 14 And when he would not be persuaded, we
- 22:07ceased saying the will of the Lord be done.
- 22:11And that's where we've got to get to.
- 22:13In all circumstances and all emotions and all feelings, when
- 22:18everything tries to creep in and tries to drag us away into
- 22:22compromise, we must get to the place that whenever we are still
- 22:27stuck in the dungeon of despair that we say the will of God be
- 22:33done thy will and not my own. You see it modeled for us in the
- 22:37Garden of Gethsemane. Whenever Jesus is sweating like
- 22:42drops of blood, whenever he's asking the Father to let the cup
- 22:47pass from him, when he's asking him if there's any other way.
- 22:51And then you see him say, but not my will, Father, but yours.
- 22:55And we've got to get to that place, friends.
- 22:58We've got to get to the place where God's will is above our
- 23:04own emotions and feelings. And that's when you're going to
- 23:08find that God is so incredibly full and rich in your life, and
- 23:17you can be like Christ and set your face like a Flint.
- 23:20You can be like Paul, who refuses to be topped off the
- 23:25ledge. We need to know that to live is
- 23:28Christ and to die is gain. 15 And after those days, we took up
- 23:40our carriages and went up to Jerusalem.
- 23:44So here he is, he's been talking about it for a while, and now
- 23:48he's come into Jerusalem. 16 There went with us also certain
- 23:55of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Nasan
- 24:01of Cyprus, an old disciple with whom we should lodge.
- 24:06So perhaps this Nasan was one who was around when Christ was
- 24:11still living on the earth before he ascended to the right hand of
- 24:16the Father. And you can see here that a lot
- 24:20of this story models and mirrors the ministry, the last week of
- 24:27Jesus's life. How the disciples were trying to
- 24:30get Jesus not to go to Jerusalem, how it was prophesied
- 24:36that he was going to be handed over to the rulers.
- 24:39There's a lot of semblances here in Christ's walk and now with
- 24:47Paul's walk. And do not be surprised whenever
- 24:52you are walking in the Spirit if your life does not mirror that
- 24:58of our Lords. That is the whole point of the
- 25:01whole fact of the whole matter. Is sanctification becoming more
- 25:05like Christ every day? And we've got to take up our
- 25:10cross and follow him. And when you take up your cross,
- 25:13you count the cost, and you know that death is on the table,
- 25:17friends. 17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brothers
- 25:28received us gladly. 18 And the day following, Paul went in with
- 25:37us unto James, and all the elders were present.
- 25:43So here we go. We see that Jesus's brother,
- 25:48half brother James is presiding over the church there in
- 25:56Jerusalem. We've heard his name mentioned
- 25:59prior in connection. We see that he is the leader
- 26:03there, and we're about to find out what they all think about
- 26:11this super apostle Paul 19 And when he had saluted them, he
- 26:21declared particularly what things God had done among the
- 26:26Gentiles by his ministry. So here Paul gives a whole
- 26:33dialogue about all the beautiful miracles, and all the beautiful
- 26:38workings and wonders that God has been doing of saving to the
- 26:42utmost. 20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and
- 26:50said unto him, You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there
- 26:58are which believe, and they are all zealous of the law. 21 And
- 27:05they are informed of you that you teach all the Jews which are
- 27:12among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought
- 27:19not circumcise their children, neither to walk after the
- 27:24customs. These were false allegations,
- 27:28friends. You cannot find these in the
- 27:31writings of Paul. You cannot find these in the
- 27:34previous chapters. These were envious Jews who were
- 27:39not very happy that Paul had left them to go and to preach
- 27:47among the Gentiles, as he had said in previous chapters that
- 27:52he would go into the synagogues and then once it became hostile,
- 27:56he would turn to the Gentiles. And you see here that these men
- 28:00had misconstrued Paul's heart, and God's heart for that matter.
- 28:0822 What is it there for? The multitude must needs come
- 28:15together, for they will hear that you are come.
- 28:19So they're saying everybody's going to know that you're here
- 28:21and they're going to want to get together and try to figure out
- 28:25these false allegations. 23 Do therefore this that we say to
- 28:31you, we have 4 men which have a vow on them. 24 Them take purify
- 28:41yourself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may
- 28:49shave their heads, And all may know that those things whereof
- 28:54they were informed concerning you are nothing, but that you
- 28:59yourself also walk orderly and keep the law.
- 29:04So here we can see that these early Christians who were
- 29:14previous Jews still wanted to hold on to a lot of their
- 29:21traditions and a lot of the laws.
- 29:24And we know that Christ said that he did not come to abolish
- 29:28the law, but to fulfill it. And Paul had found freedom.
- 29:33Paul is going to write many times as we go through the New
- 29:38Testament here, you're going to find Paul talking about this
- 29:42liberty. But then he says, should, should
- 29:45sin abound so that grace can abound all the more.
- 29:49And he says, surely not. So we know that he did not abuse
- 29:53the grace, but he was well acquainted with the grace of the
- 29:58Lord Jesus Christ. And we need to continue in
- 30:01grace, not just beginning grace, but continue in that grace,
- 30:06friends. But these legalistic Jews who
- 30:10were wanting to hold on to all of the laws and wanting to hold
- 30:14on to all of their traditions, they were not as acquainted.
- 30:19And Paul talks about not being a stumbling block and not using
- 30:24our freedom to offend our brothers.
- 30:27And we're going to find it all out as we read through the New
- 30:31Testament. But I want you to know, friends,
- 30:35that because Paul has told us that everything is permissible,
- 30:45but not everything is profitable, we need to know that
- 30:50here. He doesn't want to be a
- 30:52stumbling block to his Jewish brothers, so he concedes to this
- 30:58plan of this Nazarite vow. And we saw in previous chapters
- 31:04that he had already told them that he had to do this and had
- 31:09to be in Jerusalem to make an offering.
- 31:14And this was not the offering for sin, which we know that
- 31:18Jesus Christ fulfilled as the atonement, as the all sufficient
- 31:23sacrifice. This would have been a thanks
- 31:26giving sacrifice of the sort, and you need to know that this
- 31:32was not in rebellion against the grace of God for Paul to concede
- 31:38to this vow. 25 As touching the Gentiles, which believe, we've
- 31:48written and concluded that they observe no such thing, except
- 31:53only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols,
- 31:57from blood and strangled animals, and from fornications.
- 32:0326 Then Paul took the man in the next day, purifying himself with
- 32:08them, entered into the temple to signify the accomplishment of
- 32:13the days of purification, until that an offering should be
- 32:17offered for every one of them. So here we see that Paul goes
- 32:21along with their plan, but let's see how it all turns out. 27 And
- 32:36when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of
- 32:42Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the
- 32:47people, and laid hands on him. Here comes that envy creeping
- 32:52in. You can see here that these men
- 32:55were hostile towards the love of God and they were still holding
- 33:01on to all of their legalism. And we see it today and our day
- 33:05and our our friends, we try to play God and we try to put God
- 33:13in a box and we try to figure God out.
- 33:16And he is the great I am, and God is in heaven and does
- 33:20whatever he pleases. And we would do well to get in
- 33:23tune with the heart of God, to get in tune with the mind of
- 33:27Christ, and to know that sometimes God will do things
- 33:31that are counterintuitive to all the things that we've been
- 33:35brought up in traditional thinking.
- 33:39And God will break your box. Friends 28 crying out men of
- 33:49Israel help. This is the man that teaches all
- 33:55men everywhere against the people and the law and this
- 34:00place, and further brought Greeks also into the temple and
- 34:06has polluted this holy place. So these are the charges that
- 34:11are brought against Paul and they're false.
- 34:15He had not brought the Gentiles into the inner part of the
- 34:21temple, and here they are holding on to their temple
- 34:24again. Here they are holding on to the
- 34:27law again, and they're like dogs that have returned to their
- 34:30vomit and their murderous ways in this way of cane that they
- 34:35have taken up to murder their brother. 29 For they had seen
- 34:43before with him in the city Trophimus, who was an Ephesian,
- 34:49whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.
- 34:55This is just a bunch of farce, friends.
- 34:59It is all envy, and they are trying to slap on him a bunch of
- 35:09false accusations. 30 And all the city was moved, and the
- 35:15people ran together, and they took Paul and drew him out of
- 35:19the temple, and forthwith the doors were shut.
- 35:22We're going to see in a short time from this passage, the
- 35:25history of mankind proves that in AD 70, which was just a short
- 35:32time after all of this, that God shut the doors of the temple.
- 35:37The God saw them returning back to all of their sacrifices after
- 35:43he sent Jesus Christ as the all sufficient sacrifice, the
- 35:49atonement for our sins. We're going to see that the Jews
- 35:52just kept on going and they did not acknowledge Jesus as the
- 35:57long-awaited Messiah. And God shut the doors of that
- 36:01temple, friends, and burned it to the ground.
- 36:04And that's what he thought about all this and you see that the
- 36:07Spirit of God, the Holy Ghost is full in Paul and he's not
- 36:12afraid, friends. He knew that all this was going
- 36:16to happen and it's going to actually be beneficial for the
- 36:23early church. This is not a negative.
- 36:28Men would not die for a lie, friends, but whenever we are
- 36:31resolute were unstoppable for Christ. 31 And as they went
- 36:45about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the
- 36:51band that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
- 36:55So we know here that the Jews had very privileged autonomy
- 37:04within the Roman Empire, and we have seen God take care of that
- 37:11land and take care of those people from their inception.
- 37:16Father Abraham, the father of faith, who was called and how
- 37:20out of his genealogy we see Isaac and Jacob and birthed
- 37:25Israel and the 12 tribes. And you see there that through
- 37:30it all, God has been with them. And this autonomy that the Jews
- 37:36were so privileged to have gave them the right to kill anybody
- 37:44who was not a Jew, who came into the inner part of the temple.
- 37:49And you see how they abused a lot of these privileges.
- 37:55But God saw it the whole time, friends, and He's going to use
- 38:00it. And here it has come to the ears
- 38:05of the captain that there is an uproar.
- 38:09And we know that this was what the Romans tried to avoid with
- 38:14all cost, any kind of insurrection that the Jews would
- 38:19try to revolt. And we know from the hammer and
- 38:23from the Maccabees, we know that history tells us that they were
- 38:29a formidable foe because they had God on their side.
- 38:34But whenever they turn their backs on God, God still loves
- 38:38them, but he will give them over.
- 38:42And we're going to find that out as we go into the book of
- 38:45Romans, given over to the reprobate mind.
- 38:49We're going to find that in the book of Thessalonians whenever
- 38:54we are given over to a delusion. And you see that being done here
- 39:02in this uproar, in this murderous attitude.
- 39:08You can see it, friends, in this mob rule.
- 39:13And God is not in all of the violence that these people are
- 39:20trying to exact upon Paul 32 who immediately took soldiers and
- 39:30centurions and ran down unto them.
- 39:34And when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they
- 39:38left beating Paul. So they hear they were beating
- 39:42Paul to death. And then here comes the captain
- 39:47and all the guards and they stopped.
- 39:51It's like being caught red handed. 33 and the chief captain
- 39:57came near and took him and commanded him to be bound with
- 40:01two chains and demanded who he was and what he had done.
- 40:06So here they're trying to pick up the pieces.
- 40:08They take him for his own security, mind you, but they
- 40:11take him and they bind him, just like Agabus had prophesied.
- 40:16Look at how it's all coming to fruition.
- 40:18You can't outpace God. You can't outmaneuver God,
- 40:21friends. You can't outwit and outsmart
- 40:24God. You've got the mind the size of
- 40:27a soda can, and his mind is larger than all the oceans,
- 40:32friends and beyond. Far be it from us to shake our
- 40:38fist, and to be hostile at God and try to explain him away.
- 40:43And we worship creation, and we refuse to worship the Creator.
- 40:50So here they want to know, who are you and what have you done?
- 40:53Why are they beating you like this?
- 40:5634 And some cried one thing and some another among the
- 41:01multitude. And when he could not know the
- 41:04certainty of the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into
- 41:09the castle. So imagine that this is very
- 41:13similar to Christ and all of the hoopla that happened there on
- 41:20the day that he was taken and arrested, and all of the people,
- 41:27the multitudes, could not come into agreement of what Christ
- 41:31had done. And here again you see it
- 41:33happening. This is the same satanic
- 41:37opposition of the moving of God. 35 And when he came upon the
- 41:45stairs, so it was that he was born of the soldiers for the
- 41:49violence of the people. So here Paul is going to be very
- 41:56meticulous in all of his actions and words as we move through
- 42:02this next little section. 36 for the multitude of the people
- 42:08followed after crying away with him.
- 42:11Basically they're saying off with his head.
- 42:15They're saying kill him, get him out of here. 37 And as Paul was
- 42:23to be LED into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May
- 42:28I speak unto you, Who said, Can you speak Greek?
- 42:33So this captain was taken off guard.
- 42:38He was puzzled and perplexed that Paul was as polite and as
- 42:47put together as he was, that he could speak Greek, and that he
- 42:53wasn't just a ruffian, but he was actually a learned man from
- 42:59the school of Gamaliel. And we see here that Paul uses
- 43:05his education to insert the will of God.
- 43:10And that can be so Friends, God has disciples from all walks of
- 43:17life, from the most brilliant minds to the most base level
- 43:23characters. And you see God's infinite plan.
- 43:28The first shall be last and the last shall be first.
- 43:35And he's saying you can speak Greek 38-R not you that Egyptian
- 43:41which before these days made an uproar and LED out into the
- 43:45wilderness 4000 men that were murderers.
- 43:50So this captain has mistakenly taken Paul as an insurrectionist
- 43:58who has leading some kind of uproar, and that had fled away
- 44:03and now had come back, and he's thinking that that is him.
- 44:07And let's see what Paul answers. 39 But Paul said, I am a man
- 44:14which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean
- 44:21city, and I beg you, suffer me to speak unto these people.
- 44:26So here he's saying, listen, I'm a Roman citizen, be careful what
- 44:30you do here. I'm not just a Jew, but I'm also
- 44:35in the protected class, and may I have a word with my people?
- 44:40So this captain now is even more puzzled and perplexed at all of
- 44:46these things. Let's see what happens.
- 44:48We'll end on 40. And when he had given him
- 44:52license, Paul stood on the stairs and beckoned with the
- 44:59hand unto the people. And then when there was made a
- 45:04great silence, he spoke unto them in the Hebrew tongue sang.
- 45:17Stay tuned till next time we'll find out what he said.
- 45:24I hope you've been blessed by this study here through the book
- 45:27of Acts where winding it up. How amazing is the Spirit of God
- 45:33moving mightily. This book is alive and active
- 45:40and it's reading you. You're not reading it.
- 45:42It's reading you friends. It's hiding itself in your heart

- 46:20God bless you. We'll see you back here
- 46:22tomorrow.
