- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 61, can you believe it? Lucas: I know, right? We've come a long way. Last time we tackled numbers thirty-one to forty. How are you feeling about those? Luna: Uhh... I've got thirty-one, thirty-two, but after that I get a little jumbled. I need more practice. Lucas: That's totally normal. We'll keep using them. Today though, let's learn something really practical: time words. Luna: Ooh, like 'today' and 'tomorrow'? I've been wanting to say what I did yesterday! Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with the most important one: 今日. That's 'today'. Luna: 今日. Lucas: Good. 今日. Say it again. Luna: 今日. Lucas: Perfect. So if you want to say 'today is', you say 今日係. Luna: 今日係. Lucas: Yes. So for example, 今日係星期一. That means 'today is Monday'. Luna: Right, 星期一 we learned before. So 今日係星期一. Lucas: Exactly! Now let's talk about 'tomorrow'. That's 聽日. Luna: 聽日. Lucas: 聽日. One more time. Luna: 聽日. Lucas: Great. And 'tomorrow is' is 聽日係. So 聽日係星期二. Luna: 聽日係星期二. So tomorrow is Tuesday. Lucas: You got it. And finally, 'yesterday' is 尋日. Luna: 尋日. That sounds different. 尋日. Lucas: Yep. 尋日係 means 'yesterday was'. So 尋日係星期日. Luna: 尋日係星期日. Yesterday was Sunday. Lucas: Perfect. So let's do a quick review. Repeat after me: 今日. Luna: 今日. Lucas: 聽日. Luna: 聽日. Lucas: 尋日. Luna: 尋日. Lucas: Now let me ask you some questions. 今日係星期幾? Luna: Uhh, today is... 今日係星期二? Wait, I think it's Tuesday. Lucas: That's right! 今日係星期二. Now, 聽日係星期幾? Luna: 聽日係星期三. Lucas: Awesome! And 尋日係星期幾? Luna: 尋日係星期一. Lucas: You're nailing it. So let's say we have a little scenario. Imagine you're talking to a friend and you want to say 'today is hot'. Luna: Oh, we learned 熱 from episode fifty-four. So 今日係好熱? Or just 今日好熱? Lucas: Good question. You can say 今日好熱. The 係 is optional when you're describing. So 今日好熱. Luna: 今日好熱. Lucas: And tomorrow will be cold? 聽日好凍. Luna: 聽日好凍. Lucas: Yesterday was rainy? 尋日落雨. Luna: 尋日落雨. We learned 落雨 in episode forty-eight. Lucas: Yes! So you can combine these time words with weather or other adjectives. Let's practice all three again. Repeat after me: 今日. Luna: 今日. Lucas: 聽日. Luna: 聽日. Lucas: 尋日. Luna: 尋日. Lucas: Now let's do a little call-back. Remember from episode fifty-five, the verb 'go' is 去. So 'I go tomorrow' is 我聽日去. Luna: 我聽日去. That's useful! Like 'I'm going tomorrow'. Lucas: Exactly. And 'I went yesterday' is 我尋日去咗. The 咗 marks past tense. Luna: Oh, we haven't learned that yet. So 我尋日去咗. Lucas: Right. But don't worry about that for now. Just remember 尋日 is yesterday. So let's wrap up with a quick conversation. I'll be you, and you be a friend. So I'll ask: 今日係星期幾? Luna: 今日係星期二. Lucas: 聽日呢? Luna: 聽日係星期三. Lucas: 尋日呢? Luna: 尋日係星期一. Lucas: Perfect! You did so well. So today we learned 今日, 聽日, and 尋日. Plus how to say 'today is', 'tomorrow is', and 'yesterday was'. Luna: 今日係, 聽日係, 尋日係. I feel like I can actually talk about my plans now. Lucas: That's the goal. And remember, you can practice by saying what you did yesterday, what you're doing today, and what you'll do tomorrow. It's a great way to build fluency. Luna: Yeah, I'm going to try that. Thanks, Lucas! Lucas: You're welcome. And thanks to all our listeners for joining us on Fexingo. Keep practicing these phrases, and we'll see you next time for another tiny lesson. Luna: Bye bye! 拜拜! Lucas: 拜拜!
