Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: This is controversial, this is important. This is the perfect
- 0:06Speaker 1: time of year to bring this up. Top five baseball
- 0:09Speaker 1: movies of all time, Codfather Go.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I had a hard time at this, but they're all
- 0:15Speaker 2: really really good movies. There's probably twenty of them that
- 0:18Speaker 2: are pretty good. But my list, I will start from
- 0:21Speaker 2: top to bottom.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Major League.
- 0:23Speaker 2: They got some of the best quotes ever in a
- 0:25Speaker 2: baseball movie. I still say to it till this day.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Even when I'm coaching the kids, I'll say some stuff
- 0:34Speaker 2: you know about will the nice Hayes run nice Hayes
- 0:36Speaker 2: h like? And then say some other stuff. The next one, Sandlot,
- 0:40Speaker 2: absolutely incredible. One of my coaches called me Smalls back
- 0:44Speaker 2: in the day because I wore my hat up like
- 0:46Speaker 2: Smalls did. Great story for kids or a great movie
- 0:49Speaker 2: for kids. I wish more kids would get outside and
- 0:52Speaker 2: do this. It doesn't happen too often anymore.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Brewsters, millions. That's in my backyard. Man.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I've been hacking Sack new Jersey, Richard pryor absolutely hysterical,
- 1:02Speaker 2: hysterical movie. He's got to spend all this money so
- 1:05Speaker 2: he can get more. Absolutely phenomenal bull dorm. I thought
- 1:10Speaker 2: that had to be up there. Anything with Kevin Costner
- 1:12Speaker 2: is truly amazing, funny, goofy movie talks about Cratzy in
- 1:17Speaker 2: the minor leagues pretty much and how it went.
- 1:19Speaker 3: And I don't think anybody's gonna talk about this one, but.
- 1:22Speaker 2: The babe, I mean, John Goodman, what a great actor
- 1:25Speaker 2: he did all he mimicked the baby, he did, all
- 1:27Speaker 2: his aneurysms, everything, And I thought, truly that was a
- 1:31Speaker 2: really old school, funny, great movie that depicts how Babe
- 1:35Speaker 2: Ruth was Glizzies, beer and baseball.
- 1:39Speaker 3: He said, did I say any Wait? What did I say?
- 1:43Speaker 4: He said, all his aneurysms.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Thank you, No, that's why you're here.
- 1:52Speaker 4: I'm usually the wordman.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, well brown you too long?
- 1:57Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, so I got I'm trying to pull up
- 2:01Speaker 4: my list so I don't make anybody mad. For the
- 2:04Speaker 4: love of the game, a lot of these picks, a
- 2:06Speaker 4: lot of these picks for me is really how the
- 2:10Speaker 4: movie made me feel. I think maybe that's how anybody is.
- 2:12Speaker 4: So it's not necessarily the movie how it like how
- 2:17Speaker 4: it went, or like how was produced or is it
- 2:19Speaker 4: a classic or whatever. For the love of the game.
- 2:22Speaker 4: For some reason, I even had my license plate on
- 2:25Speaker 4: the first vehicle that I ever purchased was for the Love.
- 2:29Speaker 4: So that's one of my top five. The Sandlot is
- 2:33Speaker 4: a classic that is just brings you back. I can
- 2:37Speaker 4: sit down and I can watch that movie every single
- 2:41Speaker 4: time from start to finish. And that's why I kind
- 2:43Speaker 4: of left some of the movies I left off of
- 2:45Speaker 4: this because I can't watch them some of them start
- 2:49Speaker 4: to finish. Some people are gonna laugh at my Summer
- 2:51Speaker 4: Catch with Freddy Prince and Freddy Prince and Jessica Biel,
- 2:57Speaker 4: But Summer Catch was made in two thousand and one.
- 3:00Speaker 4: I was in college and my dream was to what
- 3:03Speaker 4: get drafted, to watch Freddy Prince go to the Cape,
- 3:07Speaker 4: be the underdog story, the guy who probably shouldn't have
- 3:12Speaker 4: even been on the Cape. It was exactly what how
- 3:15Speaker 4: I got my summer ball job. Now, granted I didn't
- 3:17Speaker 4: get in trouble like Freddy's character did in the movie,
- 3:20Speaker 4: but the fact that I was in love with my
- 3:24Speaker 4: now wife, current girlfriend, and I was trying my hardest
- 3:28Speaker 4: to make it to the big leagues, just like Freddy's
- 3:30Speaker 4: character was, he was he was, And so that's why
- 3:33Speaker 4: Summer Catch really hits home with me. The natural while
- 3:39Speaker 4: maybe not like the best movie. For some reason, I
- 3:41Speaker 4: sit down and I watch that thing start to finish.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Whenever it comes on, I will not turn it off.
- 3:48Speaker 4: I think it's because it was the first baseball book
- 3:50Speaker 4: that I ever read, and the movie for me didn't disappoint,
- 3:54Speaker 4: and I gotta see the lights blow up at the
- 3:57Speaker 4: end of it. And Major League is the first movie,
- 4:00Speaker 4: first rated R movie that my dad and I ever watched,
- 4:04Speaker 4: and we watched it over and over and over and
- 4:08Speaker 4: over again, and we still laugh to this day about
- 4:12Speaker 4: that movie.
- 4:15Speaker 1: That was really nice. I loved both of your lists
- 4:18Speaker 1: and for Krats Todd father, it's in all the Fields
- 4:22Speaker 1: type of lists.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Yeah, right, oh, that all the fields. I'm surprised in
- 4:25Speaker 3: that field of dreams on.
- 4:26Speaker 4: There something about it, something about it.
- 4:30Speaker 3: It's the top ten for sure for me.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Top ten. Sorry it's it's out of the top five,
- 4:35Speaker 4: but you know it's mystical, it's mythical, it's you know,
- 4:39Speaker 4: it's all those things. Good job, great movie, movie, not
- 4:43Speaker 4: my top five and I and I definitely if I
- 4:45Speaker 4: sit down, I'm not sitting down and watching the entire thing.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Understood.
- 4:51Speaker 1: This creates a perfect path for me to show some
- 4:54Speaker 1: other lists. I AMDB put out a list and you
- 4:57Speaker 1: just mentioned their number one Field of Dreams. They have
- 5:02Speaker 1: a league of their own at number two. That's good
- 5:04Speaker 1: one Moneyball at three. Treasure League is in there. At four,
- 5:10Speaker 1: Moneyball is AJ's favorite. Eight Men out at five, that's
- 5:14Speaker 1: about the nineteen nineteen Black Socks scandal. It's pretty old movie.
- 5:18Speaker 1: The Natural at six. They have Old Durham at seven,
- 5:21Speaker 1: mister Baseball a man.
- 5:23Speaker 3: That's the top ten pay for sure.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Okay, the Sandlot at nine, and the Rookie at ten.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Ones the Rookie, the Rookie guy. I teer. I tear
- 5:37Speaker 4: it up in the Rookie again. It's the fields for
- 5:39Speaker 4: me because it was that time period where my fat
- 5:45Speaker 4: face was not making it to the big leagues and
- 5:47Speaker 4: it was like, are you are you taking care of
- 5:49Speaker 4: your family? Do you have to do the right thing?
- 5:52Speaker 4: And then he comes back and he makes it to
- 5:54Speaker 4: the big league. Sorry to ruin it for everybody who hasn't.
- 5:59Speaker 4: It's a real story. So it's a great story. Maybe
- 6:02Speaker 4: the listen cheesy Disney part of it wasn't you know,
- 6:07Speaker 4: maybe maybe didn't click with me. It's definitely a top
- 6:09Speaker 4: ten though I got the same feels I got my dad.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Even my dad even teared up when he watched it.
- 6:14Speaker 4: He's like, I was just watching it. He's like, this
- 6:18Speaker 4: is your story. I'm like, Dad, I'm not thirty seven,
- 6:21Speaker 4: like I made it to the big LEAs at thirty
- 6:23Speaker 4: like I was way ahead of it.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I was way ahead of this guy, Scotty. There's four
- 6:26Speaker 2: of those that are going to be in my top ten.
- 6:29Speaker 2: That list is pretty is pretty good except.
- 6:31Speaker 3: For a couple. Man. I mean you look at Mister Baseball.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I love that movie. Ccpedro was in that movie as well.
- 6:39Speaker 2: The Natural I didn't have on her lega their own.
- 6:41Speaker 2: I could watch that from start to finish. Marla Hooch,
- 6:45Speaker 2: God bless Marla Hooch Moneyball.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I will not watch from start to finish now. I
- 6:49Speaker 4: did watch it one time.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, the old Marla Hooch Hey, and the two teammates
- 6:54Speaker 2: Dottie Hensont and Kit said, we're not leaving until Marla
- 6:58Speaker 2: Hooch is on this team.
- 7:00Speaker 3: And guess what Marla could mash. She'd be my number
- 7:03Speaker 3: one break.
- 7:06Speaker 4: And Dotty did did Dotty drop the ball at the
- 7:10Speaker 4: end of did she do it on purpose? She had
- 7:12Speaker 4: money on the game I mean, did she drop it
- 7:15Speaker 4: on purpose?
- 7:16Speaker 3: I think she did. I think she did. It was
- 7:18Speaker 3: Kit's turn. Dotty was good, it was Kit's time.
- 7:22Speaker 4: That was.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Okay, getting there, we go over Christmas break Epey, getting straight.
- 7:32Speaker 1: That's yeah, there's going to be any movie there is.
- 7:35Speaker 1: But anyway, the part from the Rookie that hit. I
- 7:38Speaker 1: remember seeing the commercial and then I was like, we
- 7:40Speaker 1: immediately need to go. I like the realistic stuff, but
- 7:43Speaker 1: just for a little bit of an unrealistic disney Ish
- 7:47Speaker 1: part of the movie where he throws the baseball and
- 7:50Speaker 1: then the miles per hour on the road like picks
- 7:52Speaker 1: it up, but then it's wrong and it clicks back
- 7:54Speaker 1: into the right number. That just I don't know, for
- 7:57Speaker 1: some reason, that just hit for me. I'm with two
- 7:59Speaker 1: on I'MDB did and half of the Love of the Game.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I don't know if I have it won, but I
- 8:04Speaker 1: just think it's very underrated and maybe you're just a
- 8:07Speaker 1: sucker for the emotional story. Just I liked the cinematography,
- 8:11Speaker 1: the way they took us in and out of what
- 8:14Speaker 1: was going through his mind during that perfect game. So
- 8:18Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think he was going through his
- 8:19Speaker 1: whole life story, but I just thought the way that
- 8:21Speaker 1: they drew it up was really cool. We have one
- 8:23Speaker 1: more list for you, Rotten Tomatoes number one. Many of
- 8:29Speaker 1: you heard don't know it because it just came out
- 8:32Speaker 1: and it's called EFIS. I don't want to like trash
- 8:35Speaker 1: all over Rotten Tomatoes, but I have heard that they're
- 8:39Speaker 1: kind of in their steroid era right now, so numbers
- 8:41Speaker 1: get juiced so ephis I have not seen it. It
- 8:44Speaker 1: might be incredible. It came out in twenty twenty four.
- 8:48Speaker 1: They have Bull Durham number two, The Life and Times
- 8:51Speaker 1: of Hank Greenberg at number three. I've never seen that one.
- 8:55Speaker 1: The League at four, Moneyball at five, Up for Grabs
- 8:59Speaker 1: at six?
- 9:00Speaker 3: Do you guys know what that is?
- 9:01Speaker 1: I do not know what that movie is, do you.
- 9:03Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know six, and I don't
- 9:06Speaker 4: know one but the White.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you're gonna like this one. Sugar is good. Sugar
- 9:13Speaker 1: would go on my top ten. Sugar is underrated. Many
- 9:16Speaker 1: people haven't seen it. That's kind of more of an
- 9:17Speaker 1: indie film vibe. But it talks about how a player
- 9:20Speaker 1: comes from Latin America and goes.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I didn't Yeah, you didn't like it?
- 9:27Speaker 4: It was okay, I thought they hit it. I thought
- 9:29Speaker 4: they hit it perfectly.
- 9:31Speaker 3: See I didn't watch all.
- 9:33Speaker 4: They nailed it.
- 9:36Speaker 1: The end is by the best part. The end is
- 9:40Speaker 1: that's it. I'm not going to give that one away
- 9:41Speaker 1: because I actually do think you should watch it.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Movie, by the way, a group of middle aged men
- 9:48Speaker 2: plays their last recreational baseball and for the field gets
- 9:50Speaker 2: torn down to build a school.
- 9:53Speaker 3: No thanks the fact that.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Dubbed up there in our faces. Number one, that it's
- 10:04Speaker 1: that's really pushing it.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Okay, I gotta watch it in that's the list here.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Yeah, number eight, bang the drums slowly, Number nine, Field
- 10:12Speaker 1: of Dreams, and number ten everybody wants some I don't
- 10:16Speaker 1: know half the movies on here. So Rotten Tomatoes we
- 10:18Speaker 1: got to talk, and I think this is the part
- 10:20Speaker 1: where people kind of lose it and they're like, we
- 10:23Speaker 1: need to reassess the way that they're looking at movies.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Am I wrong here? I mean, this is not what
- 10:29Speaker 1: a top ten should look like.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I feel I don't know enough
- 10:34Speaker 4: about Rotten Tomatoes, don't I don't get I don't get
- 10:37Speaker 4: some of that stuff. So I can't comment other than
- 10:40Speaker 4: the fact that there shouldn't be three movies in the
- 10:42Speaker 4: top ten that I haven't heard of, And I mean,
- 10:47Speaker 4: everybody Wants Some was made in twoenty sixteen, and I'm
- 10:52Speaker 4: looking at I'm looking at the people on the the
- 10:54Speaker 4: cast Glenn pat nineteen eighties and six is a comedy.
- 11:01Speaker 4: I love comedies. Yeah, my career was a comedy. But
- 11:05Speaker 4: if there was a movie, there was a movie that
- 11:07Speaker 4: signified my career, trouble with the curve kind of a
- 11:15Speaker 4: slow mood for me.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 1: It doesn't belong on any list, or not at least
- 11:20Speaker 1: on a top ten list.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Not not their finest work, Clint Eastwood, not his finest movie.
- 11:26Speaker 1: He's been in a few others that are a little
- 11:28Speaker 1: bit better. But good job, guys, well done. Anything you
- 11:31Speaker 1: want to pick at with your.
- 11:33Speaker 4: Own, what's your what's your most overrated Baseball movie?
- 11:39Speaker 1: You're just gonna throw something at me that I have
- 11:40Speaker 1: to come up with on the fly. What's yours? And
- 11:42Speaker 1: then I'll think about mine. You have an overrated one
- 11:45Speaker 1: off the top of your.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Tongue, Moneyball? Clearly, clearly Moneyball is up there with a
- 11:50Speaker 4: lot of film people, and I think they probably did
- 11:53Speaker 4: a good job. I just it is. It just feels
- 11:58Speaker 4: like for me, it's an irritat movie. I'm not as
- 12:02Speaker 4: irritated as as AJ about it. And now he just
- 12:05Speaker 4: kind of that's like his like platform that he stands on,
- 12:08Speaker 4: like that's his political running, his running platform that he's
- 12:12Speaker 4: just you know, he's never going to watch Moneyball, but
- 12:15Speaker 4: he also is never going to watch Sandlot the Sandlot,
- 12:17Speaker 4: So it he doesn't have he doesn't have credibility in
- 12:21Speaker 4: in movies for me. But I think there's always I
- 12:23Speaker 4: think there's always one Brewsters Millions. He that was on
- 12:27Speaker 4: his list. The the owners the Owner's network always played
- 12:33Speaker 4: that during the time of the year, during the time
- 12:36Speaker 4: of year when I was like, I want to see
- 12:38Speaker 4: some baseball highlights, show me some old games, don't show me.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Don't let me turn on your your owner's network and
- 12:45Speaker 4: see Brewsters Millions again, Like I don't. I don't need
- 12:49Speaker 4: to see him. He the Owner's Network. That's what it is.
- 12:54Speaker 1: It's not it's not I mean I worked there for
- 12:57Speaker 1: a long time.
- 12:58Speaker 4: I know that.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I didn't know what the hell you're.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Yeah, they said the movie, the movie does well, and
- 13:04Speaker 1: I actually, you know, it grew on me because it
- 13:06Speaker 1: was on nine thousand times during my tenure there, so
- 13:09Speaker 1: I liked it. I agree Richard Pryor is funny. I'll
- 13:11Speaker 1: give you my overrated.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Because I think, oh, sorry, Ken Griffy Senior got me
- 13:16Speaker 2: on that movie. He said, heck and sack, heck and stack.
- 13:20Speaker 4: That's why. It's because because Secucus is where their network's at.
- 13:24Speaker 4: So they're like, oh, we're we're local, We're playing a
- 13:27Speaker 4: local movie.
- 13:28Speaker 2: It's not like it just came out. Go ahead, Scooter,
- 13:30Speaker 2: what was your bed? I'll tell you mine after.
- 13:33Speaker 1: This overrated for me because I want to pick something
- 13:36Speaker 1: that's in the cream of the crop, top ten for
- 13:39Speaker 1: most for some reason, Like I respected and was fine
- 13:43Speaker 1: with Bull Durham, but after I watched it, I was
- 13:45Speaker 1: just like, that was fine. I don't need to see
- 13:47Speaker 1: that again. A lot of the jokes just didn't hit
- 13:50Speaker 1: for me. I don't know, it's just it didn't connect
- 13:52Speaker 1: with me like so many other ones we're going through
- 13:54Speaker 1: right now did. I'm not saying it was a bad movie.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I'm just saying I didn't watch that and be like
- 13:58Speaker 1: absolute classic, Oh my god, that was incredible. That was hilarious.
- 14:01Speaker 1: It just didn't hit for me like I thought it
- 14:04Speaker 1: would because that was one that I didn't see until
- 14:07Speaker 1: a little later in life. It was one that I
- 14:09Speaker 1: was looking forward to seeing. A lot of people are like, oh,
- 14:11Speaker 1: bull Deram, that's the best movie ever for baseball. You
- 14:13Speaker 1: got to see it. And then I'm like, you know,
- 14:15Speaker 1: you know how you like really get ready for one
- 14:16Speaker 1: that gets typed up. You sit down, You're like, this
- 14:18Speaker 1: is going to be an all timer. I was like, oh,
- 14:20Speaker 1: that was good. I was like, that's not an all
- 14:22Speaker 1: timer for me. Controversial.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I'll be quick here my bust one, three, six, seven, eight,
- 14:34Speaker 2: and ten on the all time movie list, those are mine?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Wait which list?
- 14:39Speaker 3: There's two? We went over there with the rotten tomatoes.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Those you're overrated.
- 14:46Speaker 1: You don't like feel your dreams?
- 14:48Speaker 3: No on the rotten tomato field of dreams is enphous.
- 14:55Speaker 3: You're just taking the hand greener up for grab sugar.
- 14:58Speaker 4: You're just taking the ones you haven't seen overrated.
- 15:01Speaker 3: You're you just say.
- 15:05Speaker 4: I have. Obviously we didn't. We didn't think about this.
- 15:08Speaker 4: I'm throwing another curve bought you guys. If I say
- 15:14Speaker 4: throw your hands in the a, you're wave them like
- 15:17Speaker 4: you just don't care. You're what movie is that.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Do you guys remember, Oh my god, it's with Keanu
- 15:24Speaker 5: Reeves too.
- 15:25Speaker 3: I forget what's the name of it.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Oh, that's a good one with the kids, the team
- 15:31Speaker 1: that he coaches. I don't remember the name of the movie,
- 15:33Speaker 1: but I liked that one.
- 15:35Speaker 4: I liked it too, because no, I forget what it's called.
- 15:40Speaker 4: That's why I'm asking, But I just remember that they're like,
- 15:44Speaker 4: he puts his headphones on, he's like, he always listens
- 15:46Speaker 4: to the same song over and over again.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Dang, somebody's gotta tell us on our way out what
- 15:52Speaker 1: that movie is.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Hardball? Well done, jare Bear.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the top tenor but he didn't.
- 16:00Speaker 4: I enjoyed it.
- 16:00Speaker 1: It was a nice click one. Yes, Hey, so we'll
- 16:04Speaker 1: finish like this. If you got through this whole thing
- 16:08Speaker 1: like the video, subscribe to foul Territory if you don't
- 16:11Speaker 1: already do, But most importantly, please comment, and you can
- 16:14Speaker 1: absolutely trash us. We do not care tis this season.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Just let us know. I love this list. I hate
- 16:20Speaker 1: this list. I loved You're Overrated. I hated You're Overrated.
- 16:23Speaker 1: We're here for all of it. I will read every
- 16:25Speaker 1: comment on this video. When it comes out, so see
- 16:29Speaker 1: you for the next one.
