- 1:49Speaker 5: good enough to put on the radio. I'm just saying
- 1:51Speaker 5: we might actually put this one on the show on
- 1:53Speaker 5: the air. Amelia Nicely from West Virginia Watch is going
- 1:56Speaker 5: to join us some breaking news late yesterday and it's
- 1:59Speaker 5: really not in this part of the state, but it's
- 2:01Speaker 5: going to impact all of West Virginia and it has
- 2:04Speaker 5: to do with the folks up in the plant layoff.
- 2:09Speaker 5: I'll get to it here in a minute up in
- 2:11Speaker 5: weird and so she's been following that story. Plus we
- 2:13Speaker 5: had the Niosh court hearing yesterday and Judge iren Berger's
- 2:18Speaker 5: courtroom here in Charleston. Chris Lawnce of course covered that
- 2:21Speaker 5: extensively for us. Amelia is also on that story, so
- 2:25Speaker 5: she's going to join us in the studio. Real ID
- 2:27Speaker 5: is now a day old, and we're gonna check in
- 2:30Speaker 5: with DOMINIQE. Grenaria from West Virginia International Yeager Airport to
- 2:32Speaker 5: see how things are going there. You know, one of
- 2:36Speaker 5: the sponsors of the show your Hometown baseball team, the
- 2:38Speaker 5: Charleston Dirty Birds. Well, the Birds have a game tonight.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Actually have to check the Scots. Do they have a
- 2:43Speaker 5: game that night or not? I'm not sure, but anyway,
- 2:44Speaker 5: Jill Garin from the Dirty Birds is going to join
- 2:47Speaker 5: us because they're getting ready for the NEC tournament. It's
- 2:49Speaker 5: actually already going on, so we'll talk to Jail about that.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Plus is always your calls and text are welcome to
- 2:55Speaker 5: I want to talk some virtual schools in West Virginia.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Doug Cchipelletti from the West Virginia Virtual Academy is in
- 3:00Speaker 5: studio with us this morning. National Charter School Week is
- 3:03Speaker 5: next week. Doug here to talk about a Doug, welcome
- 3:05Speaker 5: to the show.
- 3:06Speaker 2: They've good to see you.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Thanks for having me changed a little bit since you
- 3:09Speaker 5: were here last time.
- 3:10Speaker 6: You know.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks really nice though.
- 3:12Speaker 5: Yeah, it's uh, we're happy with it. Yeah, it looks good.
- 3:16Speaker 5: So this is done with the National Alliance for Public
- 3:20Speaker 5: Charter Schools. Talk about that alliance and just I'll just
- 3:23Speaker 5: you're an old pro at this. I'll just let you
- 3:25Speaker 5: take it from it.
- 3:25Speaker 7: Well, so I think first I just want to point
- 3:29Speaker 7: out that it is National Teacher Appreciation Week, which teachers
- 3:33Speaker 7: should be appreciated and cherished and loved on every day
- 3:37Speaker 7: of the year. The things that they do in the
- 3:39Speaker 7: classroom for students is magical, and they're the true magicians
- 3:43Speaker 7: and they're what make the system work. And so the
- 3:46Speaker 7: National Alliance also sort of piggybacks off of the week
- 3:50Speaker 7: where we celebrate teachers, and they focus in on school choice,
- 3:56Speaker 7: where we recognize across the country, especially here in West Virginia,
- 4:01Speaker 7: students and families are interested in pursuing alternative education options,
- 4:08Speaker 7: and we have a very robust and active legislature in
- 4:12Speaker 7: the past few years that has passed laws to allow
- 4:16Speaker 7: students a voice and a choice. And we're just really
- 4:19Speaker 7: grateful and we're thankful to be a part of this
- 4:21Speaker 7: big movement.
- 4:23Speaker 5: And let's talk about the rise in this movement. Let's
- 4:26Speaker 5: talk about some numbers. Off the top of your head,
- 4:27Speaker 5: I'm going to put you on the spot, but I
- 4:29Speaker 5: mean more. The bottom line is more and more parents
- 4:32Speaker 5: are choosing this for their kids.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:34Speaker 7: So when I took over this position in June of
- 4:39Speaker 7: twenty two, there were sixteen students enrolled. We're just under
- 4:44Speaker 7: twenty two hundred in less than three years. I'm no mathematician,
- 4:48Speaker 7: but that's a pretty big jump. It's a very big jump.
- 4:51Speaker 7: And part of it is because the first year we
- 4:54Speaker 7: served grades K through ten. Then we added juniors, then
- 4:57Speaker 7: we added seniors this year, which super excited. Coming up
- 5:01Speaker 7: on May twentieth, we have our first graduating class the
- 5:04Speaker 7: ceremonies over at the University of Charleston. We're expecting about
- 5:08Speaker 7: one hundred graduates to walk across the stage and their
- 5:11Speaker 7: families are very excited. I think we'll have five or
- 5:14Speaker 7: six hundred people in attendance. It's going to be a
- 5:16Speaker 7: really big game.
- 5:16Speaker 5: Did you think when this thing got started in twenty
- 5:18Speaker 5: twenty two? Is that what you said?
- 5:20Speaker 2: Yes?
- 5:20Speaker 5: I mean I know you had you had an image
- 5:25Speaker 5: of your head of how successful that you wanted to be.
- 5:27Speaker 5: But are you even surprised by it?
- 5:31Speaker 7: Yes, to some extent, although I think more and more
- 5:36Speaker 7: as we hire amazing staff members, which I do say
- 5:41Speaker 7: that in the most sincere way. Our teachers are phenomenal
- 5:45Speaker 7: and our families feel that love and there are best advocates.
- 5:49Speaker 7: They're the ones that are telling their friends, hey, you
- 5:51Speaker 7: should check out this school. The teachers are really caring,
- 5:53Speaker 7: they actually listen to us. But to be at twenty
- 5:57Speaker 7: two hundred or just under, sometimes do have to pinch
- 6:00Speaker 7: myself and say, wow. But here we are with our
- 6:03Speaker 7: first graduating class. I knew that was coming. And right now,
- 6:08Speaker 7: my administration, the teachers, the counselors, they are working so
- 6:12Speaker 7: hard to one put the finishing touches on graduation and
- 6:15Speaker 7: two making sure kids get across the finish line. So
- 6:18Speaker 7: we're just very thankful to be here and super excited.
- 6:22Speaker 5: And the graduation ceremony just like any other graduation ceremony, right.
- 6:26Speaker 7: So this is fun because we're a virtual school. We
- 6:28Speaker 7: do it two ways. Okay, so we do have an
- 6:31Speaker 7: in person especially for our inauguration. You know, if there's
- 6:34Speaker 7: a first class this, this is gonna be big.
- 6:36Speaker 5: Well, this will go down in history, as they say,
- 6:38Speaker 5: the first ever graduating class.
- 6:40Speaker 7: Yes, this is the first ever. But our families have
- 6:43Speaker 7: historically told us they like being in person. So yes,
- 6:46Speaker 7: we're a virtual school, but we provide lots of I
- 6:49Speaker 7: think we've had almost thirty field trips this year where
- 6:52Speaker 7: we provide opportunities for families to get together in person.
- 6:56Speaker 7: But this first class, so regular ceremony, four o'clock, University
- 7:01Speaker 7: of Charleston. We've got the whole order, We've got the
- 7:04Speaker 7: band coming in, we've got a sign language interpreter. I mean,
- 7:08Speaker 7: we've got police coming you know, for security, the whole.
- 7:13Speaker 7: I mean, just what you would expect. But we also
- 7:16Speaker 7: pre record a slide show so that families who can't drive,
- 7:21Speaker 7: say from Martinsburg, we're going to air a virtual program
- 7:25Speaker 7: on the twenty third, So we we're going to do
- 7:27Speaker 7: it two ways.
- 7:28Speaker 5: For family feeling there'd be some virtual in there somewhere, well, well,
- 7:31Speaker 5: you guys do things well.
- 7:32Speaker 7: But we're also going to live stream the event for
- 7:35Speaker 7: the actual event on the twentieth, So I guess we're
- 7:39Speaker 7: kind of offering it three ways in person, the live stream,
- 7:42Speaker 7: and then we'll also have just just a virtual on
- 7:45Speaker 7: the twenty third. Lots of stuff. Yeah, it's a lot
- 7:48Speaker 7: to keep up with, it is, it is. I'm very,
- 7:51Speaker 7: very grateful for my team. They just work tirelessly to
- 7:54Speaker 7: serve kids.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think, and you're always good about doing this,
- 7:58Speaker 5: but maybe give a shout out to your team, you
- 8:00Speaker 5: know a little bit more.
- 8:03Speaker 7: Everybody from uh. I mean, I could sit here and
- 8:07Speaker 7: I was gonna say, if I name named it, we're
- 8:08Speaker 7: going to be here for.
- 8:09Speaker 5: A while, and you'll leave somebody often and you'll get
- 8:11Speaker 5: in trouble.
- 8:11Speaker 7: So yes, I just if you listen to this, everybody
- 8:16Speaker 7: from the office staff to the administration to the teachers, truly,
- 8:20Speaker 7: from the bottom of my heart, thank you. They They
- 8:23Speaker 7: often ask me what what are we doing at the school?
- 8:29Speaker 7: And and I always point back to my north star
- 8:32Speaker 7: is real simple. We answer two questions. Who does this
- 8:36Speaker 7: impact and who does this benefit? And it's the second
- 8:40Speaker 7: part right there that is really critical because a lot
- 8:43Speaker 7: of times in education, decisions are made and it doesn't
- 8:47Speaker 7: always have the best benefit for kids, and so students
- 8:51Speaker 7: and kids are obviously the answer that I'm looking for
- 8:53Speaker 7: on the first two. But teachers by default are also
- 8:58Speaker 7: in that mix because we can't impact kids without good staff.
- 9:01Speaker 7: So they know that's my north star. So I appreciate
- 9:04Speaker 7: you all so much. You guys are the true rock
- 9:06Speaker 7: stars and the magicians.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Doctor Doug Chipeletti from the Western UNI Virtual Academy, but
- 9:10Speaker 5: Dave Island Show on five Eddy Live brought to you
- 9:12Speaker 5: in part by Jute Jot Security Systems. Visit protected by
- 9:16Speaker 5: Jute dot Com or follow them on Facebook. Now you're
- 9:20Speaker 5: in c DOAA certified. Yes, what does that mean?
- 9:23Speaker 7: Well, it's an accreditation process. It's very rigorous where the schools.
- 9:30Speaker 7: It's not just an automatic thing, especially for a new
- 9:32Speaker 7: virtual charter school. So we've been working with the NC
- 9:36Speaker 7: double A and we have to submit all kinds of paperwork.
- 9:39Speaker 7: And I will name Cheryl Staley. She's our academic administrator.
- 9:43Speaker 7: She's been on the show before. She has been the
- 9:46Speaker 7: champion getting us across the finish line. And so what
- 9:49Speaker 7: this means is our students who choose to go on
- 9:52Speaker 7: to college, which we do have three kids that are
- 9:55Speaker 7: joining the Marines that are graduating. We have three kids
- 9:58Speaker 7: that got the promised scholarship, and so if one of
- 10:01Speaker 7: those kids was also a student athlete and they wanted
- 10:05Speaker 7: to go play sports, that's really where the NCAA approval
- 10:11Speaker 7: process comes into play.
- 10:13Speaker 5: I had a feeling, I mean, I didn't realize it
- 10:15Speaker 5: was that in encompassing, but I had a feeling that
- 10:16Speaker 5: it would be something like that. So the kids this
- 10:19Speaker 5: graduating class, of one of them did decide that they
- 10:22Speaker 5: wanted to play ball at University of Charles in West
- 10:25Speaker 5: Virginia State Marshall WU, they ideally could do.
- 10:28Speaker 7: That, Yes, and the credits and things that they get
- 10:31Speaker 7: from high school would be acknowledged.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Okay, all right, what's the And again, I've had you
- 10:36Speaker 5: on several times, probably going back to since you started
- 10:40Speaker 5: the Virtual Academy back in twenty twenty two. Dispel misconceptions,
- 10:45Speaker 5: because I know this is what you get all the time.
- 10:47Speaker 5: You're at church or grocery store and you strike up
- 10:50Speaker 5: a conversation with somebody and they say, well, there's no
- 10:52Speaker 5: socialization for these kids. They sit in front of a
- 10:55Speaker 5: computer all day or some sort of a device. Dispel
- 10:58Speaker 5: all of the stuff as I to guests about another
- 11:00Speaker 5: subject the other day. Tell us what you're not.
- 11:04Speaker 7: We are not simply a program that is never engaged
- 11:10Speaker 7: with kids. We have West Virginia certified teachers who teach.
- 11:16Speaker 7: They do provide live instruction, they provide office hours. We
- 11:21Speaker 7: have counselors who make phone calls, who do video calls.
- 11:26Speaker 7: We connect with kids. So we're not just some behind
- 11:30Speaker 7: the screen you never see our faces. We're very real people.
- 11:35Speaker 7: We also have, like I said earlier in the show,
- 11:39Speaker 7: we have lots of field trips. We have clubs, so
- 11:43Speaker 7: one of our we have clubs baked into our schedule.
- 11:46Speaker 7: We have a cooking club, we have a Minecraft club,
- 11:49Speaker 7: We have dungeons and dragons where we provide all kinds
- 11:52Speaker 7: of opportunities for kids to co mingle and get that socialization,
- 11:58Speaker 7: whether it's in person at the ex coal mine in
- 12:01Speaker 7: Beckley or there's a petting zoo over in Putnam County.
- 12:04Speaker 7: So I guess what the dis the belief is we
- 12:09Speaker 7: don't do anything normal, but we do. I've made a
- 12:13Speaker 7: plug the other day. We had prom last Saturday. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 7: you know, so we're doing normal things. We're providing those
- 12:19Speaker 7: things for kids to make it a good blend of
- 12:23Speaker 7: being schooled at home in the safety of their own environment,
- 12:27Speaker 7: while still being provided what they could expect with the
- 12:30Speaker 7: socialization and in person events. And where can people learn

- 15:34Speaker 5: was last week. Jill Garon from the Dirty Birds joined
- 15:37Speaker 5: us right now. Jill, good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Good morning, thanks for having me, Thank you.
- 15:41Speaker 5: For being here. I know you're on a tight schedule,
- 15:43Speaker 5: so we'll kind of get you off here as quickly
- 15:44Speaker 5: as possible. This is what we've got you on to
- 15:47Speaker 5: talk about. Is not necessarily related to the Dirty Birds,
- 15:50Speaker 5: but it is kind of related to the Dirty Birds
- 15:51Speaker 5: with this NEC tournament. Talk about it.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, So the MEC tournaments going on. It started
- 15:56Speaker 4: off yesterday. It kicked off at three point thirty after
- 15:59Speaker 4: the Dirty Birds Day game. We have a game starting
- 16:02Speaker 4: at ten am this morning, another one at one thirty,
- 16:04Speaker 4: and then Friday there's three games, Saturday three games, and
- 16:08Speaker 4: Sunday at least one, maybe two depending on the if necessary,
- 16:11Speaker 4: championship game.
- 16:12Speaker 5: And you're told me yesterday that you get some kind
- 16:14Speaker 5: of a deal going with the MEC tournament and the
- 16:18Speaker 5: Dirty Birds, right, some kind.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Of those Yeah, yeah, so right, Like I said, the
- 16:22Speaker 4: gates are literally about to open in about seven minutes now.
- 16:25Speaker 4: If you have a ticket to tonight's Dirty Birds game,
- 16:27Speaker 4: you can enter for the MEC games today for free,
- 16:30Speaker 4: or if you have an MEC ticket, then you can
- 16:32Speaker 4: go to the Dirty Birds game for free later tonight.
- 16:35Speaker 4: So it's really nice to deal that we have going
- 16:37Speaker 4: with MEC. It's always a really fun tournament. I think
- 16:40Speaker 4: we have a five year contract with them, so it's
- 16:41Speaker 4: a really good partnership.
- 16:43Speaker 5: And that's a lot of baseball going on in one
- 16:44Speaker 5: day in one place, right, or a couple of days,
- 16:46Speaker 5: I guess, right.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yep.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I we have twenty home games in May plus the
- 16:51Speaker 4: MEC tournament, so it's a lot of baseball going on.
- 16:53Speaker 4: But that's that's what we're here for. That. We love
- 16:55Speaker 4: that we can have this kind of tournament for the community.
- 16:58Speaker 4: And that's the beauty of turf where we don't have
- 17:00Speaker 4: to redrag the field all day.
- 17:03Speaker 5: I thought about that because when I used to schedule you,
- 17:05Speaker 5: and even people that were there before you, and Jay
- 17:08Speaker 5: Silverman and all these people on the show, they would
- 17:10Speaker 5: set to say, well, we got to keep an eye
- 17:11Speaker 5: because we may have to do a tart poll as
- 17:14Speaker 5: you called it. Right. I guess those days are gone though,
- 17:16Speaker 5: right all right, he.
- 17:17Speaker 12: Exactly, Joe.
- 17:18Speaker 5: I appreciate you being here No, As I said, you
- 17:19Speaker 5: got things to do, so I appreciate you being here
- 17:21Speaker 5: and good luck with everything. We'll talk again soon, absolutely,
- 17:25Speaker 5: Steve I, Jill Gearin from the Dirty Birdge, your hometown

- 17:42Speaker 5: West Virginia watches here. How you doing, I'm good?
- 17:44Speaker 7: How are you so sure?
- 17:46Speaker 5: First appearance with me here, But you were on the
- 17:49Speaker 5: show in the studio a couple days.
- 17:50Speaker 13: Ago, right, yes, with TJ and David. It looks great
- 17:52Speaker 13: in here. I'm really happy for y'all.
- 17:54Speaker 5: Well, we're great. We're happy as well. And enjoy it
- 17:56Speaker 5: because this is way it's going to look seventy years
- 17:58Speaker 5: from now.
- 17:59Speaker 13: But them on Monday or Tuesday whatever did it was
- 18:02Speaker 13: like I was in here when it was a construction zone. Yes,
- 18:04Speaker 13: so it is really cool to see how far it's got.
- 18:06Speaker 5: One of the cool things was when they were doing
- 18:08Speaker 5: this was I walked in. We were already in the basement.
- 18:10Speaker 5: I call it the basement. We were down downstairs and
- 18:14Speaker 5: I walk in, and if you've ever seen Big Bang Theory,
- 18:16Speaker 5: how the how the elevator always says a police tape
- 18:19Speaker 5: on it. Not only did this room have police tape
- 18:22Speaker 5: on it, but it also was sealed. And I was saying,
- 18:25Speaker 5: I probably don't want to know. But in a couple
- 18:28Speaker 5: of days we got the all clear. So it's all good.
- 18:30Speaker 13: I've worked in a few newsrooms that probably needed that
- 18:33Speaker 13: crime tape over it.
- 18:35Speaker 5: What are you writing about these days? Let's start with
- 18:38Speaker 5: let's start with vaccines. So, uh, that's been a I
- 18:41Speaker 5: mean that's been It's been very much in the news,
- 18:44Speaker 5: and I know you've been covering a lot with that,
- 18:45Speaker 5: so just generic topic.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Sure.
- 18:48Speaker 13: So something I'm efforting this week is looking at how
- 18:52Speaker 13: private schools are going to respond to the governor's executive
- 18:56Speaker 13: order of mandating religious exemptions to vaccines. So I believe
- 19:01Speaker 13: you've talked on the show about what happened last week
- 19:03Speaker 13: with the governor kind of coming in with the public
- 19:05Speaker 13: schools and mandating that they comply. I talked to the
- 19:10Speaker 13: Catholic school system, the Diocese out of Charleston, Wheeling earlier
- 19:13Speaker 13: this week, they are saying we are not going to comply.
- 19:16Speaker 13: They operate twenty four schools around the state. I've left
- 19:19Speaker 13: messages with a number of religious Christian schools. We have
- 19:22Speaker 13: several here in the Canau Valley. Haven't heard back. Hearing
- 19:26Speaker 13: mixed messages behind the scenes. Some may comply, some may not.
- 19:30Speaker 13: But I think ultimately we're going to see this issue
- 19:33Speaker 13: end up in court because I agree, yeah, the executive
- 19:36Speaker 13: order does not allow a carve out for these religious
- 19:39Speaker 13: or private schools to set their own vaccine policies.
- 19:41Speaker 14: We had seen that.
- 19:42Speaker 13: In some versions of the bill that didn't pass to
- 19:44Speaker 13: allow religious exemptions. So, you know, I think at this
- 19:48Speaker 13: point it's just a question of where and when the
- 19:50Speaker 13: lawsuit comes from. Is it going to be the Catholic
- 19:53Speaker 13: school system or private schools. Will it be a public
- 19:55Speaker 13: school system suing, or will it be a parent who's
- 19:58Speaker 13: trying to use religious exemption and it isn't being given
- 20:02Speaker 13: that ability. And we've also talked to my coworkers, and
- 20:05Speaker 13: I have talked to private daycares who are saying we
- 20:08Speaker 13: also won't comply. I mean, daycares really haven't been a
- 20:11Speaker 13: part of this conversation, but they are a part of
- 20:12Speaker 13: that executive order, and so they're being forced to also
- 20:16Speaker 13: make decisions about how they will respond. And daycares are
- 20:20Speaker 13: serving children who can't be fully vaccinated under the CDC schedule, right,
- 20:24Speaker 13: and so yeah, I think it's just a matter of
- 20:26Speaker 13: when and where this lawsuit comes from.
- 20:29Speaker 5: It's it's interesting.
- 20:30Speaker 2: It was.
- 20:31Speaker 5: It was an interesting forty eight twelve let's say, twenty
- 20:33Speaker 5: four to forty eight hours on Friday. Yeah, because you know,
- 20:36Speaker 5: the state school superintendent Michelle Blatt, issued a statement and
- 20:41Speaker 5: it was rescinded, and it was kind of a back
- 20:44Speaker 5: and forth between the two I had on the On
- 20:47Speaker 5: the Network show earlier this week. Delegate Kathy Hess Krause,
- 20:51Speaker 5: who is a staunch opponent I don't let me, let
- 20:54Speaker 5: me be fair to delicate Krause, I don't want to
- 20:56Speaker 5: say she's a staunch opponent of vaccines. I think she's
- 20:58Speaker 5: more of a opponent of parental choice. Yes, and that's
- 21:04Speaker 5: a better way to put it. I mean, she's not
- 21:05Speaker 5: anti vaccine. Well, maybe she is a little bit.
- 21:08Speaker 14: Well her at least.
- 21:10Speaker 13: Her statement that she put out to the media was
- 21:13Speaker 13: supporting the executive order and really saying that. She called
- 21:17Speaker 13: Superintendent Blatt a bureaucrat. It said she doesn't have power.
- 21:20Speaker 2: To supers to.
- 21:20Speaker 5: It is bullying. Yeah, that the Yeah, the supert was bullying.
- 21:24Speaker 13: She's in the minority in her thinking. Though most lawmakers
- 21:28Speaker 13: I've talked to, Republican and Democrat, feel that the executive
- 21:32Speaker 13: order does not have the legal standing that the governor
- 21:35Speaker 13: thinks it has, and that you know, the law's the law.
- 21:38Speaker 13: Lawmakers did not pass this vaccine exemption law was voted
- 21:41Speaker 13: down in the House of Delegates, and right now the
- 21:44Speaker 13: law's law, so doesn't it.
- 21:46Speaker 5: And I brought this up on the Network show and again,
- 21:48Speaker 5: and we're talking with Amelia Nicley from West Virginia. Watch
- 21:51Speaker 5: is it just me or does it seem like we're
- 21:53Speaker 5: seeing more and more of this where the voters say
- 21:57Speaker 5: one thing on one particular topic, and then maybe the
- 22:01Speaker 5: legislature says something, but then one of these groups, like
- 22:05Speaker 5: you know, or one of these individuals, be it the
- 22:07Speaker 5: governor being the legislature, come in and they say, well,
- 22:10Speaker 5: we're going to do this anyway. And we saw that
- 22:13Speaker 5: not related to vaccines, but we saw it with with
- 22:16Speaker 5: things in the legislature this year. I mean, is it
- 22:19Speaker 5: my imagination, Amelia, or are we seeing more of that?
- 22:21Speaker 13: I think we are seeing more of that. We're certainly
- 22:23Speaker 13: seeing more executive orders, both in Washington, DC and under
- 22:27Speaker 13: this governor, right, so that that is part of it. Yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 13: I think I would say that's a pretty fair characterization
- 22:33Speaker 13: of the legislature. You know, you you see bills where
- 22:36Speaker 13: people people come and speak and you get emails from
- 22:38Speaker 13: constituents who say, we do not want this, we do
- 22:40Speaker 13: not want this, this will harm people, and they're like, well,
- 22:43Speaker 13: we're gonna do it anyway. And that's always happened, but
- 22:46Speaker 13: it does seem to be But I do think what
- 22:50Speaker 13: you raise a good point that is relevant to this
- 22:52Speaker 13: vaccine bill.
- 22:53Speaker 14: I would say, of all the bills in.
- 22:55Speaker 13: Session, the one that seemed to have the most I'm
- 22:58Speaker 13: gonna call it democratic flow, the democratic process was this
- 23:02Speaker 13: vaccine bill. Because we saw Republicans in the House who
- 23:05Speaker 13: had supported it come back for the vote and stand
- 23:08Speaker 13: up and say, I listen to my constituents. While I
- 23:11Speaker 13: may support this, I have to err on what my
- 23:14Speaker 13: constituents are telling me to do it.
- 23:15Speaker 14: I'm going to vote no.
- 23:16Speaker 5: And on that concept, and that's really.
- 23:18Speaker 14: How that bill failed.
- 23:20Speaker 13: It wasn't pressure from medical professionals, in my opinion, it
- 23:23Speaker 13: was pressure from constituents.
- 23:24Speaker 5: And again West Virginia, and I could pick on my
- 23:28Speaker 5: home state a little bit. I know you're a native
- 23:29Speaker 5: West Virginia as well, but you know, sometimes we don't
- 23:32Speaker 5: do everything right in the state, and we don't have
- 23:34Speaker 5: a I think we have a lot to be proud of,
- 23:36Speaker 5: but maybe we have some things that, like most states,
- 23:38Speaker 5: that we're not so proud of. One of the things
- 23:40Speaker 5: that I feel personally this is me talking that we
- 23:44Speaker 5: do an exemplary job of is vaccinations for kids. I
- 23:49Speaker 5: mean we're in the top depending on what metric you
- 23:50Speaker 5: look at, what study, we're in the top three or four.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:53Speaker 5: But now a Delegate Cross, who I had on the
- 23:55Speaker 5: show the other day would respond to that by saying,
- 23:57Speaker 5: but we're also one of the least healthiest state.
- 24:02Speaker 14: Yes, that's true.
- 24:03Speaker 13: I also think an interesting point to bring up is
- 24:05Speaker 13: that we're actually one of the worst for childhood vaccinations
- 24:08Speaker 13: until kids get to school. Yeah, because we have Yeah,
- 24:11Speaker 13: we have a lot of We have a rural health
- 24:14Speaker 13: care system, a very fragmented healthcare system, a high rate
- 24:16Speaker 13: of poverty.
- 24:18Speaker 14: Lots of kids.
- 24:19Speaker 13: Don't see pediatrician for a well visit, work or get
- 24:23Speaker 13: their their required amusations until they show up for kindergarten.
- 24:27Speaker 14: And you know, that's something to think about too.
- 24:30Speaker 5: And I wonder we taught we we toeut this high
- 24:33Speaker 5: level of vaccination among kids. I wonder if it were
- 24:37Speaker 5: not required in schools, how many of the parents would
- 24:42Speaker 5: would do it? And I'm going to say the number
- 24:44Speaker 5: would be pretty low. I mean, that's just I have
- 24:46Speaker 5: no nothing to but to base that on other than
- 24:49Speaker 5: just my my thought. I think I think it probably
- 24:51Speaker 5: would be pretty low.
- 24:51Speaker 14: You would say, yeah, I don't that's a good question.
- 24:54Speaker 13: I'm not sure to be honest, because we've just been
- 24:57Speaker 13: in such a situation where it's been so strict, right,
- 25:00Speaker 13: But yeah, I mean, as far, I think it is
- 25:01Speaker 13: safe to say lots of some parents would not access
- 25:05Speaker 13: health care for other child if it weren't for these
- 25:07Speaker 13: mandated vaccines. And those vaccines are given in well visits
- 25:10Speaker 13: that can catch other issues with children. So I think
- 25:13Speaker 13: that's safe to say, is that things would slipped through
- 25:14Speaker 13: the cracks if we didn't have children going to these
- 25:16Speaker 13: mand aid appointments.
- 25:18Speaker 5: One thing I did not realize in Delegate cross Brough,
- 25:21Speaker 5: I'm talking an awful lot about somebody who's not in
- 25:23Speaker 5: studio to defend her something. I'm just saying what she
- 25:25Speaker 5: said on the show. She talked about the number of
- 25:30Speaker 5: vaccines that kids get now as opposed to what they
- 25:32Speaker 5: did twenty thirty years ago, and the numbers have gone up.
- 25:37Speaker 5: That's troubling to some people. Yeah, you would.
- 25:40Speaker 13: Say, yeah, I understand that. I mean, I'm a parent
- 25:42Speaker 13: of three kids. I have one child who is still
- 25:45Speaker 13: in the middle of getting her vaccinations. You have to
- 25:48Speaker 13: make the best decision for your child. I have talked
- 25:51Speaker 13: to multiple doctors, talked to health perhaps, so I get it.
- 25:54Speaker 13: I am working through all these things just like any
- 25:56Speaker 13: other parent, right. And I had very small babies during
- 25:59Speaker 13: the endemic and had to think through with my family
- 26:02Speaker 13: about vaccinating my own children for COVID RTE a new vaccine,
- 26:05Speaker 13: and having a baby. So and I made the decision
- 26:09Speaker 13: to get vaccinateing for COVID when I was pregnant. So
- 26:12Speaker 13: I think like I've had to think through all these
- 26:14Speaker 13: things just like any other parent. And I always appreciate
- 26:18Speaker 13: the opportunity to speak to Delegate Krause, and she was
- 26:20Speaker 13: really kind to me on Monday and connected me with
- 26:24Speaker 13: the West Virginia Health Freedom Group, and I was able
- 26:26Speaker 13: to get that perspective. And so I really try to
- 26:29Speaker 13: take in all sides of any issue.
- 26:30Speaker 14: And one thing I will say, you.
- 26:32Speaker 13: Know, a lot of parents are concerned about their children
- 26:35Speaker 13: going to school with children who maybe.
- 26:38Speaker 14: Are not vaccinated.
- 26:39Speaker 13: We also have parents on the other side of the
- 26:40Speaker 13: issue who now have already used the religious exemption close
- 26:43Speaker 13: to two hundred roughly, who are concerned that come fall,
- 26:47Speaker 13: their child's going to be kicked out of school if
- 26:49Speaker 13: this is overturned. So that's why I think it is
- 26:52Speaker 13: and needs to probably go in the court system sooner
- 26:54Speaker 13: rather than later, because you've got parents on both sides
- 26:56Speaker 13: that are like, what's happening?
- 26:58Speaker 5: Talking to Amelia nicely from West Virginia. Watch a Dave
- 27:00Speaker 5: Allan Hill in five eighty Live brought to you in
- 27:02Speaker 5: part by Bridge Valley offering custom tailored training supply skilled

- 27:08Speaker 5: While we're talking about the young'uns, let's talk about headstart. Yeah,
- 27:12Speaker 5: we spent We've spent a lot of time on the
- 27:15Speaker 5: various shows, there were a lot of people a little
- 27:18Speaker 5: nervous about the funding cuts to Headstart. It doesn't look
- 27:23Speaker 5: like that's going to happen now, at least like we thought, Yeah,
- 27:27Speaker 5: what do you think?
- 27:28Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 27:28Speaker 13: Absolutely, So I was able to confirm with Senator Capito
- 27:32Speaker 13: Capitol's office earlier this week that the proposed budget under
- 27:37Speaker 13: President Trump does include funding for Headstart.
- 27:39Speaker 14: As you said, this was a concern.
- 27:41Speaker 13: It was reported by multiple national outlets, and Headstart directors
- 27:46Speaker 13: were telling me, we're very concerned about our future of
- 27:48Speaker 13: our program under this budget, and so that was great news.
- 27:51Speaker 13: I am pretty sure I was the first reporter in
- 27:54Speaker 13: the country to be able to confirm it with their senator,
- 27:58Speaker 13: which was great.
- 27:58Speaker 14: And I like, I don't mean is like Applaus to me.
- 28:00Speaker 14: I just I'm thankful that.
- 28:01Speaker 5: I'll applaud you.
- 28:02Speaker 13: No, No, I just I'm thankful that Senator Capita was
- 28:04Speaker 13: willing to say that, because this has been something I've
- 28:07Speaker 13: received more emails about than anything in a long time.
- 28:10Speaker 13: People are very concerned about the future of this program.
- 28:12Speaker 13: Now that being said, while it does include funding, they
- 28:16Speaker 13: have already taken a budget cut. President Trump has laid
- 28:20Speaker 13: off I think two hundred head Start employees and cut
- 28:24Speaker 13: some regional offices, and that is already affecting West Virginia.
- 28:28Speaker 13: We've had delays in grants, We've had communication issues, and
- 28:31Speaker 13: so I don't want to paint the picture that everything
- 28:34Speaker 13: is good to go. But having this funding secured in
- 28:37Speaker 13: the upcoming budget, should Congress approve, it was really welcome news.
- 28:41Speaker 13: And the director of head Start told me she was
- 28:42Speaker 13: really relieved to see that.
- 28:44Speaker 5: It just seems I don't know, can I editorialize with you?
- 28:49Speaker 14: You don't you We did just talk about vaccines, So absolutely.
- 28:51Speaker 5: You don't have to jump in on this if you
- 28:53Speaker 5: don't want to. But I was having a conversation with
- 28:54Speaker 5: somebody earlier and when you see all of these concerns,
- 29:00Speaker 5: and I'm saying this not as Dave Allen media host
- 29:03Speaker 5: or whatever. I'm just saying this is Dave Allen, tax
- 29:05Speaker 5: pay citizen. When you see all of these cuts, and
- 29:09Speaker 5: Niosh is a good example of that. I would like
- 29:13Speaker 5: to see a little bit more from our elected representatives.
- 29:18Speaker 5: And I know Senator Capito, I know Senator Justice, I
- 29:20Speaker 5: know Governor Morrissey, I know Congressman Riley Moore was out
- 29:23Speaker 5: with the statement I think sometime during the overnight hours
- 29:26Speaker 5: about what's going on with with cliffs and and we'll
- 29:30Speaker 5: talk about that a little bit later on. I just
- 29:34Speaker 5: would like, if they're that concerned about it, Imagine if
- 29:38Speaker 5: you will, a world where Governor Morrissey, Senator Capitol, Senator Justice, Uh,
- 29:45Speaker 5: the congressional folks Miller and Riley Moore, they they do
- 29:49Speaker 5: a joint statement and they say, President Trump, we are
- 29:53Speaker 5: very concerned about what's going on in West Virginia with
- 29:56Speaker 5: these cuts, Niosh being an example, Let's pump the brakes
- 30:01Speaker 5: here a little bit.
- 30:01Speaker 6: Now.
- 30:01Speaker 5: They've all said something, you know, to an extent here
- 30:04Speaker 5: and there in different interviews and different statements saying, you
- 30:07Speaker 5: know that. When we had Jim Justice, Senator Justice on
- 30:10Speaker 5: the show, he talked about mowing too close to the
- 30:12Speaker 5: fence and things of that nature. And I get that.
- 30:15Speaker 5: I I think though it would be in my opinion,
- 30:19Speaker 5: just my opinion, it would behoove them to put out
- 30:23Speaker 5: some sort of a group statement. However, in West Virginia,
- 30:28Speaker 5: that ain't happening. And I think you probably would agree
- 30:30Speaker 5: with that. They're not going to do that because of
- 30:33Speaker 5: the allegiance and the almost almost cult like following that
- 30:39Speaker 5: Donald Trump has in West Regia, it would be political
- 30:41Speaker 5: suicide editorial by me just throwing it out.
- 30:44Speaker 13: Do you think can I pose a question back to
- 30:46Speaker 13: you though? Do you think it is political suicide? Though
- 30:48Speaker 13: at this point when hundreds of jobs have been cut,
- 30:51Speaker 13: there's a great story out in CBS News this morning
- 30:54Speaker 13: about coal miners in West Virginia not being able to access.
- 30:57Speaker 14: Black lung screamings.
- 30:58Speaker 13: Right, if the head start fund and cuts do end
- 31:00Speaker 13: up going through, I agree with what you satisfy as
- 31:03Speaker 13: the allegiance, and we're probably not going to see that.
- 31:05Speaker 13: But I keep wondering, and I think my fellow reporters
- 31:07Speaker 13: and I are wondering what might tip over. And I've
- 31:10Speaker 13: had conversations with people about does this affect the ballots
- 31:15Speaker 13: in two years in West Virginia? No? Maybe not, but
- 31:20Speaker 13: but will it may be in like a Morgantown or
- 31:22Speaker 13: a Wheeling where there severe job loss.
- 31:24Speaker 14: No, you don't think so. No, it's just interesting, and I.
- 31:27Speaker 5: Don't I have pose this question to a lot of
- 31:30Speaker 5: hardcore Trump supporters, and I said, and I've said it,
- 31:34Speaker 5: and I've never gotten an answer yet. What would it take?
- 31:37Speaker 13: Now?
- 31:37Speaker 5: I've had one person that, and I appreciate the texture
- 31:39Speaker 5: that said, well, that'd have to start acting like Joe Biden.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Interesting answer. I don't think it matters. I honestly don't.
- 31:47Speaker 5: I had a text of the Network show yesterday where

- 37:43Speaker 5: will be calm after the storm. Lots of folks with questions, comments,
- 37:48Speaker 5: concerns about real I d it's now a thing. DOMINIQ Grenari,
- 37:52Speaker 5: the airport Director and CEO of West Virginia International Yeager
- 37:55Speaker 5: Airport here in the capital city joins US now Dominique.
- 37:58Speaker 5: How was day one?
- 38:00Speaker 18: Good morning, Dave, thanks for having me back. Day one
- 38:03Speaker 18: was actually pretty smooth. So at our checkpoint here at CRW,
- 38:08Speaker 18: we only had about nine or ten folks show up
- 38:10Speaker 18: with non compliant IDs. They were able to go through
- 38:14Speaker 18: that extra screening and make it to their flights on time.
- 38:18Speaker 18: But today's a different story. We're expecting yesterday we had
- 38:21Speaker 18: about five hundred and forty passengers through the checkpoint. Today
- 38:24Speaker 18: we're expecting eight hundred and fifty passengers boarding flights today.
- 38:30Speaker 18: So I still encourage everyone coming to the airport to
- 38:33Speaker 18: show up early and bring their patients.
- 38:36Speaker 5: And you know, there was We've been talking about this,
- 38:41Speaker 5: you know for what decades? What year was it that
- 38:44Speaker 5: this was We knew this was going to be a
- 38:46Speaker 5: thing two thousand and five. This has been out there
- 38:49Speaker 5: since two thousand and five. And I was just talking
- 38:52Speaker 5: to somebody in the hall earlier who said that their
- 38:55Speaker 5: mother was told in church that if they did not
- 38:58Speaker 5: have a uh, the real idea, that they would not
- 39:02Speaker 5: be allowed to drive. So wow, that's kind of where
- 39:05Speaker 5: we are. You're not taking away the right to drive, right,
- 39:08Speaker 5: you don't do that, Dominate Grant.
- 39:10Speaker 18: So the demon, the State of West Virginia and the
- 39:15Speaker 18: federal government is not taking away your drives, your right
- 39:18Speaker 18: to drive. You don't have to have a real ID
- 39:20Speaker 18: to drive. The real ID is required for flying domestically
- 39:24Speaker 18: in the United States and for getting into federal buildings
- 39:28Speaker 18: as well as nuclear power plants. If you haven't planned
- 39:31Speaker 18: nuclear power plants anytimeszoo.
- 39:33Speaker 5: It's like you saw my calendar about what I was
- 39:35Speaker 5: going to do this afternoon. I was I'm gonna, I
- 39:37Speaker 5: was just gonna, I'm just gonna get the boys in
- 39:39Speaker 5: the office and the girls and say let's go to
- 39:40Speaker 5: a nuclear power plant because you never know, you never
- 39:44Speaker 5: know when you're gonna need one. So so everything everything
- 39:47Speaker 5: ran smoothly as you said no, no, major issues. But uh,
- 39:52Speaker 5: do you anticipate any with with more with more flight
- 39:55Speaker 5: volume as we go into the weekends.
- 39:57Speaker 18: That's right, With more passengers needing to get through that checkpoint,
- 40:01Speaker 18: the likelihood of someone not having a real ID increases.
- 40:05Speaker 18: The odds just increase. Those people have to go through
- 40:08Speaker 18: extra screening to get to their flights, so it could
- 40:11Speaker 18: slow down that checkpoint flow. So that's why we're just
- 40:14Speaker 18: cautioning passengers. You know, here at or West Virginia International
- 40:18Speaker 18: Yeager Airport, we have the luxury of having a very
- 40:21Speaker 18: very quick ticketing and TSA process, but we can't take
- 40:27Speaker 18: that for granted during this transition to real ID. We
- 40:30Speaker 18: have to show up a little bit early just in case.
- 40:34Speaker 18: Like I said, the TSA checkpoint has stacked up so
- 40:37Speaker 18: that they have extra people to help with that extra screening,
- 40:40Speaker 18: and we are trying to create two different lines so
- 40:43Speaker 18: that those that have their real ID can perceive about
- 40:46Speaker 18: being slowed down. But like I said, this is eight
- 40:50Speaker 18: hundred and fifty passengers today and even more on Saturday
- 40:53Speaker 18: and Sunday, So I still encourage people to come early.
- 40:57Speaker 5: And what if they do have the real ID, I mean,
- 40:59Speaker 5: they're just there are hopping a a flight. My wife's
- 41:01Speaker 5: line from from Chicago into Charleston, and she's you know,
- 41:05Speaker 5: she's got her she's she's had hers year. She's taken
- 41:07Speaker 5: care of, okay. But anybody else that's taking care of
- 41:12Speaker 5: they're good to go. Should they plan on arriving at
- 41:14Speaker 5: the airport just a little bit early if they're flying
- 41:15Speaker 5: off the you know, Charlotte or wherever they're going today,
- 41:18Speaker 5: should they Should they plan on being there just a
- 41:19Speaker 5: little bit earlier if they're if they already have the
- 41:21Speaker 5: real ID.
- 41:22Speaker 18: We do encourage it just because, like I said, our
- 41:25Speaker 18: checkpoint has two lanes or trying to keep those two
- 41:29Speaker 18: lanes designated, but if it gets really backed up, they're
- 41:32Speaker 18: just going to try and screen as quickly as they
- 41:34Speaker 18: can real ID or non real ID. So we're encouraging
- 41:38Speaker 18: everyone to show up a little bit earlier than usual,
- 41:40Speaker 18: and hopefully in the next couple of weeks that won't
- 41:43Speaker 18: be as necessary because everyone will have gotten their real
- 41:47Speaker 18: ID and be ready to go.
- 41:48Speaker 5: DOMINICQ. Grnaria, the airport director and CEO of West Virginia
- 41:51Speaker 5: International Yeager Airport, appreciate you being here. You be patient
- 41:55Speaker 5: to your staff, and you folks be patient too. We'll
- 41:57Speaker 5: get through this, Okay, that's right.
- 42:00Speaker 18: No, thanks so much for having me, Dave. I really
- 42:01Speaker 18: appreciate it, all right, thank you.

- 47:35Speaker 5: and it's happening today at two o'clock. It's located sixteen
- 47:38Speaker 5: oh one Second Avenue, Suite A in Charleston, which is
- 47:41Speaker 5: across from their lot. If you get a chance, stop
- 47:43Speaker 5: by and check it out. The ribbon cutting again happening
- 47:45Speaker 5: at two o'clock today for this new thrift store in
- 47:48Speaker 5: Charleston benefiting hospice Care. It's their heart to Home charity
- 47:53Speaker 5: shop sixteen o one Second Avenue, Suite A in Charleston.
- 47:59Speaker 5: All right, let me get do some text here. Tex says,
- 48:02Speaker 5: where was the calm and patience from the Magas when
- 48:05Speaker 5: Biden was pulling the economy out of the first Trump
- 48:07Speaker 5: and Douce slump? Trump gets as much patience and calm
- 48:10Speaker 5: as Maga gave Biden. Texaid, I like how people complain
- 48:16Speaker 5: about having to beate taxes for things that benefit the community,
- 48:18Speaker 5: then go on to complain about how there's a lack
- 48:20Speaker 5: of a community. Seems like a lot of West Virginians
- 48:23Speaker 5: want hungry, unhealthy kids running around in lieu of keeping
- 48:27Speaker 5: a few hundred bucks. I thought the majority of people
- 48:29Speaker 5: in the state followed the teachings of Jesus. Jesus would
- 48:32Speaker 5: be ashamed, says a Texter. Tex says, I'm waiting for
- 48:36Speaker 5: someone called to federal jury duty and not having a
- 48:39Speaker 5: real id what an excuse to get out of jury duty. Well,
- 48:43Speaker 5: that's a that's a kind of a far stretch there
- 48:46Speaker 5: to get out of jury duty just for that Texas
- 48:50Speaker 5: Day for sellers from both the v one hundred and
- 48:51Speaker 5: Easton yard sales who may have left over blanket's tous
- 48:54Speaker 5: wash clubs, et cetera, please consider donating those items to
- 48:56Speaker 5: the animal shelter. I mentioned that to the program director
- 48:59Speaker 5: of V one hundred, mister Logan Scott, yesterday, and he's
- 49:02Speaker 5: aware of it. Good ideas, So those folks up to
- 49:04Speaker 5: the animal shelter can always, always, always use things like that.
- 49:10Speaker 5: And there's a lot of folks that love animals but
- 49:12Speaker 5: either can't take on anymore or living an opportunity or
- 49:15Speaker 5: live in an area for one reason another where they
- 49:17Speaker 5: can't adopt or foster. So yeah, there's other ways you
- 49:21Speaker 5: can help, and that would be a good way. Coming
- 49:25Speaker 5: up on tomorrow show, as I said, we're gonna spend
- 49:26Speaker 5: some time talking about the V one hundred yard sales.
- 49:28Speaker 5: Stephen Jenny will join us. Also, we're gonna have someone
- 49:31Speaker 5: on to talk about the East End yard sale. There's
- 49:34Speaker 5: gonna be a lot of yard sales going on throughout
- 49:36Speaker 5: the Canal Valley this weekend. For sure. It's graduation upcoming
- 49:39Speaker 5: for West Virginia States. President of WVS you, Eric Cage,
- 49:43Speaker 5: will join us on the show tomorrow, plus and g
- 49:46Speaker 5: Gillenwater from the Gannal Charleton Human Association with this week's
- 49:48Speaker 5: Adopt Me Please pat of the Week. That is all
- 49:51Speaker 5: coming up on tomorrow's show, TJ. Meadows is here.
- 49:55Speaker 20: The wider question is how will tariffs and their effect
- 49:58Speaker 20: on consumer comf and it's affect all of the art
- 50:01Speaker 20: sales that are going on. That is the bigger question
- 50:05Speaker 20: that we have to understand.
- 50:06Speaker 5: Are you going to be showing up at the v
- 50:08Speaker 5: one hundred yard sale giving a lecture on tariffs to
- 50:10Speaker 5: people because I think you should. Well, I don't know
- 50:13Speaker 5: if we're going to show up or I have a
- 50:14Speaker 5: video series.
- 50:15Speaker 20: We think about just putting it on a DVD and
- 50:16Speaker 20: letting it play so people can come and go as
- 50:18Speaker 20: they want.
- 50:18Speaker 5: Well, it being like a yard sale and you know
- 50:22Speaker 5: kind type setting it, maybe me want to put them
- 50:23Speaker 5: on VHS. Yeah, Well we're hoping people would buy the
- 50:26Speaker 5: beta too. Yeah you remember Beta. I was going to
- 50:30Speaker 5: say a lot of people are probably wondering, Well, No,
- 50:33Speaker 5: people that listen to the show probably know what I'm
- 50:34Speaker 5: talking about. It was a big deal when you got
- 50:36Speaker 5: your first VCR in then eighteen eighties, whether you got
- 50:39Speaker 5: VHS or Beta, because VCRs were well over one thousand dollars. Yeah,
- 50:43Speaker 5: I mean the first the first VCR that I didn't
- 50:45Speaker 5: have one. My family didn't have one for a while,
- 50:47Speaker 5: but the first one in our neighborhood was two thousand dollars.
- 50:50Speaker 5: That was a nineteen eighty eighty one. It was two
- 50:54Speaker 5: thousand dollars. And so you better make that decision wisely
- 50:58Speaker 5: whether you want to get a VHS or Beta. Now,
- 51:00Speaker 5: after a while, the price continued to go down, down
- 51:02Speaker 5: and down.
- 51:02Speaker 20: So if I think I was nine, maybe ten before
- 51:05Speaker 20: cable TV was even available where we lived, you got
- 51:10Speaker 20: the three big networks and a couple other channels like
- 51:12Speaker 20: PBS and stuff.
- 51:13Speaker 4: That was it.
- 51:14Speaker 5: That's all you got. I had a texture. So could
- 51:17Speaker 5: you have Brian Hughes on the mar to talk about
- 51:18Speaker 5: the weather forecast on Saturday for the v one hundred
- 51:21Speaker 5: east En Yards. It looks absolutely perfect, I can tell
- 51:23Speaker 5: I don't need Brian Hughes for that. I'm looking forward
- 51:25Speaker 5: to absolutely perfect because it'd be nice to have a weekend.
- 51:28Speaker 5: Last weekend was brainy.
- 51:29Speaker 2: I think the weekend before that was in we.
- 51:31Speaker 5: Got storms on the prowl on the Kanawh Valley here
- 51:33Speaker 5: today too, and you got caught in a big wood
- 51:35Speaker 5: in South Charleston.
- 51:36Speaker 20: I'm gonna tell you, man, I don't mind telling you.
- 51:38Speaker 20: I was a little uncomfortable with that, just the sound
- 51:42Speaker 20: and it's beating. My big thing was because I had
- 51:44Speaker 20: nowhere to go. I actually thought might crack the glass
- 51:48Speaker 20: of mess up that pretty face what you got on
- 51:51Speaker 20: the show today. So Chris Lawrence joins us at ten
- 51:53Speaker 20: oh six. Latest on that lawsuit for injunction yesterday with
- 51:56Speaker 20: Niosh ten thirty three, Ryan weld Brook cownt Senator on
- 52:00Speaker 20: Cleveland Cliffs and not moving forward with that transformer plants.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Hoppy's in at eleven oh six. He's fired up.
- 52:06Speaker 20: He's got a commentary today at wv okay Metronews dot com.
- 52:09Speaker 5: We'll get into all that plus more. All right, what's
- 52:11Speaker 5: Hoppy opining about? I haven't read it this morning.
- 52:14Speaker 20: So he's not down with the Governor's executive order on vaccines.
- 52:18Speaker 20: He lays out a six point case six point not
- 52:21Speaker 20: six point not three, not two, not six point six
- 52:24Speaker 20: point case.
- 52:24Speaker 5: All right, he'll be on the show today. I'll be

- 52:30Speaker 5: will be with you coming up noon to three on
- 52:33Speaker 5: this and other Metro news stations. Back on this show
- 52:35Speaker 5: tomorrow till then, have fun. I Love Somebody.
