Eighteen lives were lost on Ohio roads over the Fourth of July weekend—eight of them in crashes where seat belts were available but ignored, and three motorcycle riders died because they weren’t wearing helmets. Troopers investigated nearly 600 crashes, issued over 1,700 distracted driving tickets and more than 2,000 for not wearing seat belts, and removed 387 impaired drivers from the road.
