Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Mitch McCann is stateside. Mitch, a very tricky task on
- 0:04Speaker 1: Capital Hell. Jd Vance is there. They're trying to get
- 0:06Speaker 1: Sir Trump's cabinet confirmed.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right, Good morning, Ryan. It's no secret Donald
- 0:11Speaker 2: Trump has chosen some controversial choices. I think is fair
- 0:14Speaker 2: to say for his cabinet, people like Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
- 0:18Speaker 2: He's accused of being an anti vaxer, Pete Higseth, he's
- 0:21Speaker 2: a TV host on Fox News. He's been accused in
- 0:23Speaker 2: the past of sexual assault. But perhaps the most controversial
- 0:27Speaker 2: here is the now former Florida Congressman Matt Gates, who
- 0:31Speaker 2: Donald Trump has lined up to be his attorney general now.
- 0:34Speaker 2: He was investigated by the FBI over six trafficking allegations,
- 0:37Speaker 2: including that he had six with a seventeen year old girl.
- 0:41Speaker 2: He denies this and wasn't charged, but a new report
- 0:44Speaker 2: from lawmakers investigator conduct is being kept under wraps for now.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Gates is on Capitol Hill today with JD Vance as
- 0:52Speaker 2: they try and convince lawmakers or senators that are going
- 0:54Speaker 2: to have to confirm his appointment that he is good
- 0:58Speaker 2: enough or he's credible enough for that job. It's going
- 1:00Speaker 2: to be a tall order because people have already spoken
- 1:02Speaker 2: out against him, but it would be quite the defeat
- 1:05Speaker 2: for Donald Trump if he does get rejected.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yeah, how's the cyclone? The bomb cyclone that's cutting power
- 1:10Speaker 1: to thousands going?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so woman is did Hundreds of thousands of people
- 1:15Speaker 2: are without power this morning in the northwest of the
- 1:17Speaker 2: US because of this bomb cyclone. This morning, more than
- 1:21Speaker 2: six hundred thousand homes in Washington we're without power and
- 1:24Speaker 2: around fifteen thousand customers were experiencing outages in California. Most
- 1:29Speaker 2: of the storm is going to pass later today, but
- 1:31Speaker 2: there is going to be extreme rainfall four parts of California.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Do you see many gang patches where you are in
- 1:37Speaker 1: New York?
- 1:39Speaker 2: No? Actually, And I was explaining to an American friend
- 1:41Speaker 2: the other day or a British friend that I work with,
- 1:43Speaker 2: about gang patches and they didn't even know what they were.
- 1:46Speaker 2: And when I Google game patches, New Zealand was the
- 1:49Speaker 2: first thing that came up. So I'm not sure it's
- 1:50Speaker 2: something we want to be known for overseas.
- 1:52Speaker 1: No, it's not, but it is something that's sort of
- 1:54Speaker 1: quite It is quite uniquely US and the Aussies as well,
- 1:57Speaker 1: have a big problem with it. Mitch. Thank you way
- 1:59Speaker 1: out of your per now, aren't we. I'm Mitch McCann,
- 2:01Speaker 1: who's our US correspondent with US from New York City.
