- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL ticks.
- 0:05Welcome to three guys 6 Balls NFL Podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to the episode 28 of Three guys 6 Balls NFL Podcast.
- 0:12Today we are joined by a special guest, our first two time guest
- 0:16on the show, Lincoln Cook. He is one of our childhood
- 0:19friends and he was supposed to be on a few weeks ago, but he
- 0:22ditched us for his children and so he had to, he had to rain
- 0:27check that one. So he's joining us today.
- 0:30Well, we might have a couple extra guests on this episode,
- 0:32you never know, but thank you. For having me back any time.
- 0:36So as you guys may know that recently Will and I have
- 0:40announced that we are leaving the Dallas Cowboys to find a new
- 0:44NFL team. And Avery has left.
- 0:46We have left the Cowboys. It's not.
- 0:49Yes. Correction.
- 0:51Yeah. Correction.
- 0:53Will and I have left the Dallas Cowboys to find a new NFL team,
- 0:56and Avery is in pursuit of a favorite NFL team for the first
- 1:01time ever. And there is nobody more
- 1:05qualified to help us find a new team than one of our childhood
- 1:08friends who grew up with us. We played football together in
- 1:11the church gym. We watched football together,
- 1:14fantasy football. So there is no one more
- 1:17qualified to help us find a new team than our friend Lincoln
- 1:20Cook. And so he's going to start us
- 1:21off today by giving us some notes and thoughts on who he
- 1:25thinks we should we should pick as our new NFL team.
- 1:29He has been very excited to tell us.
- 1:31He's been texting me and letting me know that he has been eager
- 1:36to let us know his thoughts. So Lincoln, take it away.
- 1:39Let that Beaver loose. Yeah, Oh.
- 1:42Careful now 'cause you're eager. You're eager, Beaver.
- 1:43She didn't let the Beaver loose. And as a resident Oregon State
- 1:46fan, I stand by that. OK.
- 1:50So when I heard. Go Ducks.
- 1:51Oh, it's a it's a tough year every year, but we play baseball
- 1:54and that's what's true. Yeah.
- 1:57OK so when I heard this task I got really excited for multiple
- 2:01reasons. One because I got made fun of my
- 2:04entire childhood for being a Chiefs fan living in Salem, OR
- 2:07which didn't make sense, Still doesn't make sense.
- 2:12But I stuck through it and guess what I found Jesus in the form
- 2:18of football Jesus, which is Patrick Mahomes, which has been
- 2:22amazing. I was like all.
- 2:23Right. Where are you going with?
- 2:24This, I mean, I did find Jesus elsewhere, it just took some
- 2:27time there too. That said, knowing you 2 both as
- 2:31Cowboy fans for my entire life and like the first people I
- 2:35think want to think of Cowboy fans are you 2.
- 2:38Avery, you're a nomad. You do whatever you want.
- 2:40This divorce, I'm glad it's happening and I'm scared of you
- 2:45guys returning. So what my goal in this is, hey,
- 2:50you never know, hey? Lincoln, I want to, I want to
- 2:53cut in here and say I told them I'm only doing this if this is a
- 2:58search for a wife, not a side piece.
- 3:01If they win the Super Bowl, if they become a new dynasty, must
- 3:05be great for that fan base, not for you guys.
- 3:07You guys are not coming back. And they said.
- 3:09That is, that is the goal. I'm like, all right.
- 3:11And as someone who has experience in this field, let me
- 3:14tell you when you can make the full cut off, it's a lot better.
- 3:19So this is comparable to Danny we are looking for.
- 3:22Divorced. I get it.
- 3:23Yeah, yeah, very good. Thank you, Will.
- 3:25Thank you. Oh my God, so we're looking for
- 3:31a spouse here. We're not looking for a
- 3:33girlfriend. We're not looking for a long
- 3:36time girlfriend or a short term fling.
- 3:38We're looking for a spouse. So that is not just a couple of
- 3:42qualities that we want in in that new person.
- 3:46It's not just, you know, pretty but no substance.
- 3:49We're looking for multiple factors leading into this.
- 3:52You follow me. So 1st, and I think this is one
- 3:56of the most important factors, maybe not necessarily the
- 3:59sexiest, but we're looking for a good organization.
- 4:03Coming from Jerry Jones. You don't want crappy
- 4:06leadership, you don't want crappy management.
- 4:07You want to have faith and confidence in the direction of
- 4:10the organization. Allah, the Chiefs and Clark
- 4:15Hunt, albeit their families, a little bit janky.
- 4:19He's stood by the Chiefs and will make the best decisions for
- 4:23the Chiefs not to line his personal pockets like Jerry
- 4:26Jones. Second, we're looking for solid
- 4:29coaching leadership. So you want to, you know, top
- 4:32down, right coat or organization GM, all those factors.
- 4:37Head coach and coaching history is also important.
- 4:40You don't want an organization that has moved on from coach to
- 4:43coach to coach to coach. That's very frustrating.
- 4:46It is hard to find long term qualities that you like in the
- 4:49partner when you're changing every two to three years.
- 4:53Next, we're looking for a younger quarterback to root for
- 4:56or get behind, whether that is a current franchise quarterback or
- 4:59just someone that you can at least root for and be excited
- 5:02about when you watch the games. It's enjoyable to watch and 4th
- 5:05and I think this is a big factor for me because I'm typically not
- 5:08a front runner bandwagoner. I'm trying to look for a team
- 5:12that's like semi under the radar.
- 5:14So we're not looking for hype teams.
- 5:16We're not looking for teams that are already, you know, knocking
- 5:19on the door to the Super Bowl. We're kind of looking for that
- 5:21next year where they could make the jump.
- 5:23They have the structure. So we're we're kind of factoring
- 5:27in multiple pieces here. And the fifth piece is easy on
- 5:30the eyes. Are they nice to look at?
- 5:33Is it just going to be like, are you going to be excited to to
- 5:35look at them and and to watch them play every week?
- 5:37So we're we're making comparisons between dating and
- 5:41football here, but we're having a good time.
- 5:43OK, so I listed out each division and all the teams in
- 5:48the division and started to cross them out one by one,
- 5:51taking away some of these factors.
- 5:52So the first factor, easy nose, we took off the NFC East.
- 5:56You guys were just there. You don't need to root for a
- 5:59team that you just actively rooted against for the last
- 6:01what, 20 years? Right.
- 6:03So that that takes off the eagles, giants and commanders or
- 6:08red birds or red fared people, whatever you want to call them.
- 6:13Say it for us, Avery. Redskins.
- 6:16Well, that's Avery can say that because his skin is red.
- 6:19Often it is. Currently.
- 6:21Still, currently she can. Tell a little bit better.
- 6:24Jeez, you are hail under there. No wonder you wear long seeds
- 6:28all the time. I'm the Washington Redskins now.
- 6:34Next, we are looking for or we're going to eliminate the
- 6:37teams that are just as miserable as the Cowboys have been
- 6:41historically. That's going to eliminate a
- 6:44couple of teams that you could potentially throw into the hey,
- 6:47if I really like them, you can date with them.
- 6:49However, this is, to me, a couple of red flags.
- 6:51We're going with the Bears, the Saints, the Browns, the Raiders,
- 6:57and The Jets. All those teams are historically
- 7:00as cursed in our lifetime. Why would you change from the
- 7:04Cowboys to one of those teams? It doesn't make sense to me.
- 7:07I also have the Steelers and Dolphins as question marks on
- 7:11this list because they're both, you know.
- 7:14Steelers are my secondary team. They're forever my secondary
- 7:16team because of my wife. So they're.
- 7:20Very good. And then I have a the Panthers
- 7:23as a question mark. We'll swing back to them in just
- 7:25a second. We're also going to eliminate
- 7:26the hyped or two good teams right now, which eliminates the
- 7:29Chiefs, the Bills, the Ravens, the Bengals and the Eagles,
- 7:33which we already eliminated. So that's that's a big chunk
- 7:39right there. And then I have a a list of kind
- 7:41of just like I can't really recommend them for you guys,
- 7:45mostly just because like I can't.
- 7:47And that's also the Steelers, the Patriots.
- 7:50They were too good for our childhood.
- 7:51I'm not going to recommend them. Sorry.
- 7:53Jaguars kind of curse maybe on the list with but I I can't be
- 7:59on. I can't get behind the head
- 8:01coach that goes Duval. It just it haunts me every time
- 8:05I see him. And then also the Colts.
- 8:08Don't know why, just can't recommend them.
- 8:10Danny Dimes. You know, if you like Danny
- 8:14Dimes then go for it. Anthony Richardson.
- 8:16I don't know. So that leaves us with a cut
- 8:19down list We have now the Texans, Titans, Chargers,
- 8:23Broncos, Vikings, Packers, Panthers with a question mark,
- 8:27Falcons, 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks, and Rams.
- 8:30Fact. I wrote all this before your
- 8:32last week's episode so I've factored in what you guys have
- 8:35said with that as well. Which is going to eliminate the
- 8:37Seahawks, the Packers, the Rams, and the 49ers.
- 8:42Rams are quarterbacks too old, plus they won a Super Bowl semi
- 8:45recently. 49ers and Seahawks are both too close to home.
- 8:49I'm not recommending those for you and Packers too painful.
- 8:52However, I'm kind of into the Packers this year low key.
- 8:56They're looking good. And then there's two other teams
- 8:59that I had to eliminate that I just don't believe in enough.
- 9:02And I don't think that they'll get to get over the hump.
- 9:06And I want you guys to be happy as as your long term friend.
- 9:09I want you guys to be happy. So that also eliminates the
- 9:12Titans and the Panthers for me. I don't believe in Bryce Young
- 9:17and the Titans. I don't know if I believe in
- 9:18their organizational leadership. So that leaves us down to six
- 9:24teams remaining. There's two that I can't
- 9:29recommend for Joel and Will because I'm a Chiefs fan.
- 9:32However, for some reason, I feel like it's right up Avery's
- 9:35alley, and that's the Broncos and the Chargers.
- 9:39They fit the bill. They are both Oregon Ducks
- 9:43quarterbacks, pun intended, on fitting the bill, but they're
- 9:47AFC West, so I can't recommend them.
- 9:49Avery, you're welcome to do that.
- 9:50You're your own, you know, loose cannon over here.
- 9:54So that leaves us down to four teams remaining.
- 9:58Those are the Texans, the Vikings, the Buccaneers and the
- 10:05Falcons. OK.
- 10:08Part of me wants to eliminate the Buccaneers because they won
- 10:11a Super Bowl semi recently. They're a completely different
- 10:14regime. That's a different order.
- 10:16It's not a dynastic kind of Super Bowl.
- 10:18That's. Yeah, they wanted a diamond.
- 10:19Brady for the Yeah. Exactly it was it was a one off.
- 10:22So I I the the. Plus, the bucks were out there.
- 10:25I watched the game last night. They were a lot of fun to watch.
- 10:28It's fun to see Baker Mayfield almost break his leg and then
- 10:32get up to just talk crap to Will Anderson.
- 10:34You know, I, I, I respect. That CJ Gardner Johnson CJ
- 10:39Gardner Johnson. Absolutely.
- 10:41So we got the Texans with CJ Stroud, a young quarterback,
- 10:44D'amico Ryan's a solid head coach and an organization that
- 10:48shipped away, albeit kind of on nasty terms, they shipped away
- 10:52Deshawn massage Watson to get off of that kind of, you know,
- 10:59Yeah, thank. You love it, love it.
- 11:04Love it. And then we have the Vikings
- 11:06with JJ McCarthy, if you believe in him.
- 11:08Yeah, OK. That's a no.
- 11:12That's a no from Will. Kevin O'Connell, who I love as a
- 11:15head coach, I think he's one of the best head coaches in the NFL
- 11:18currently. They're kind of under the radar.
- 11:21Their fanbase is super strong and across all of America, but
- 11:24they're not like a hype organization, if that makes
- 11:27sense. And then my number one
- 11:30suggestion, albeit unpopular, but again, I'm just presenting
- 11:35my information in my opinion on the matter, is the Falcons with
- 11:39Michael Pennix junior and Raheem Morris, who I love.
- 11:42Raheem Morris. I loved him when he was with the
- 11:43Bucks. I thought he got a bad rap
- 11:45there. But they're very under the radar
- 11:47team right now. And if you can get behind and
- 11:49under under the radar team, I don't know.
- 11:52I think it's pretty sick. Plus, it's kind of fun that
- 11:54there's two lefty quarterbacks that have played for the
- 11:57organization that both have one character letter away from a
- 12:01phallic name. So that's cool.
- 12:05And I think they have cool, like team history.
- 12:08It's kind of, you know, they're kind of a grubby team, a little
- 12:12bit under the radar. Real, real scrappy dog.
- 12:15Faggy team. You know, they, they fight
- 12:19dirty. They, they, they, they got that
- 12:22dog in them, if you know what I mean.
- 12:24So that's my information. That's my soliloquy.
- 12:28What are your guys's thoughts? I don't know if you can see the
- 12:31the vein of my neck that was popping because I was rolling.
- 12:36The only thing that gives me any sort of hesitation with the
- 12:38Falcons is being associated with 28 to 3.
- 12:42That's, you know, you weren't the only thing.
- 12:45You weren't part of that, so I don't I.
- 12:46Don't think that's a, that's not even a bad thing.
- 12:48There's way worse. I feel like that's like, yeah,
- 12:51they screwed that up, but it wasn't like like some Manti Te'o
- 12:55stuff where it's like, dude, this is just embarrassing for
- 12:58you. You know.
- 13:00Some Jerry Jones stuff where it's like, dude, don't make me
- 13:03try to defend this at work. Like don't make me do that.
- 13:07Yeah. So those are the teams that I've
- 13:09presented. I have obviously have your
- 13:11followers. Here but but yes, let's hear it
- 13:14will. So you recommended AFC West
- 13:17teams for Avery. Why specifically not for Joel
- 13:20and I? I'm better than you.
- 13:22Well, one, I don't want to look at you guys as enemies, Avery.
- 13:27He'll probably drop his team in five years anyways, so we'll see
- 13:33how long he sticks with it, but I.
- 13:35Can't take I can't take any of Lincoln's advice because it's
- 13:38not real, genuine advice. It's just that you could play
- 13:41around with this toy here for a bit.
- 13:43Only though, I can see Avery opposing me and being an AFC
- 13:47West foe to me. However, I don't want all three
- 13:51of you as AFC West foes to me. I don't think about any of you
- 13:56guys nearly enough to care enough to pick a team that you
- 13:59guys oppose. Like just.
- 14:01That's fair. That's fair.
- 14:02Again, Avery is the nomad. That's fair.
- 14:06I'll stick with a team. That's why I haven't chosen
- 14:08A-Team. And the big thing for me, as you
- 14:10mentioned, current players, I don't give a rats about current
- 14:13players. This is the team that my
- 14:14children will root for, like Danny Dimes, Like he'll be gone
- 14:18in two years, Max. Like all of these guys even, I
- 14:21mean, like with the Broncos, I mean, I like, I love Bonex, like
- 14:24Sean Payton. I'm like, yeah, I don't expect
- 14:27them to be there for the next 10 years.
- 14:29So for a lot of this, it's more about like, I mean, the visuals
- 14:33for me. I'm like, hey, what kind of gear
- 14:34do I want to wear? You know, I don't want to wear
- 14:36something dumb, but also. Like you got to look.
- 14:39Pretty a little bit is is proximity.
- 14:41The other thing is like, whatever team is like doing well
- 14:43right now, I'm like, I mean, I would say that right now, being
- 14:47honest, I have no intention of joining the Chiefs.
- 14:49So I'm just using this as an example.
- 14:51But like, if I wanted to join the Chiefs fandom right now, I
- 14:56mean, I guess that's technically a bandwagon.
- 14:59I mean, if I was a new football fan and I joined the Chiefs,
- 15:03that's like, OK, just because, you know, they're good.
- 15:05But if if you've been watching, it's like, dude, you're entering
- 15:08at the tail end of this dynasty unless it, you know, keeps
- 15:12going. But historically, you know, 3 or
- 15:154, you know, championships is kind of like, yeah, and then now
- 15:17contracts get in the way and ego's getting there.
- 15:20So I'm like, if I join the Chiefs, I mean, I'm basically
- 15:23Buck, I'm joining it Sunday afternoon and then Monday's
- 15:27tomorrow. Like that's kind of the way I
- 15:29see it. Potentially, yeah.
- 15:31I mean, and that's the thing I, I wish all the best and like, I
- 15:33don't want, you know, the teams to, you know, fall apart and
- 15:36stuff. But that's usually professional
- 15:37sports. That's what happens.
- 15:39So like, if I choose a team, that's why I haven't because I'm
- 15:42like, I don't want to root for someone.
- 15:43I I love these players. They trade them to the far of
- 15:46you trade them to Minnesota. I'm like, what?
- 15:48I would hate this if I was really into this, if I was
- 15:52really into this football team, if I love Brett Favre, if I see
- 15:54him go to the Vikings, I'm like, dude, don't put me through that.
- 15:59And I. Believe it's, I believe it's
- 16:00Favre, but yes, point. Taken Favre, yeah, but that I
- 16:04just want to say that the current players has very little
- 16:08bearing. It's more about location, like
- 16:10just design, colors, logo and then general organization.
- 16:14So I can see kind of where they're going.
- 16:17I mean, like the Chiefs organization looks fantastic.
- 16:19Did it look fantastic before they got Mahomes or hired Andy
- 16:22Reid? Like, not necessarily.
- 16:24I mean, maybe they weren't troublesome, but no one would go
- 16:26out and say the Chiefs organization is superb.
- 16:29It's like what they had success and now you can tell, oh, there
- 16:33there's no infighting, there's no ridiculous decisions.
- 16:35They're keeping the drama low. I'm like, that is genuinely
- 16:38impressive. I mean, it's like more like, I
- 16:40don't know how you've always been, but during this era you've
- 16:43been very good at like keeping everything intact.
- 16:47I mean, I I've all always said Patrick Mahomes greatest
- 16:51strength is the fact that he's kept his wife and his brother
- 16:54relatively quiet for like. I get your house in order.
- 17:00There was a part of me that wondered if this whole Taylor
- 17:03Swift thing was set up just to get Brittany and Jackson to shut
- 17:07the hell up. Like can we get?
- 17:09Them. If so, the sacrifice was worth
- 17:12it. Yeah, can can we get them off
- 17:14the field? Can we get them not doing TikTok
- 17:17dances on a memorial? Can we get her to stop pouring
- 17:20champagne over all of the fans? Can we get her and him out of
- 17:25the news? Taylor, you're up to Travis.
- 17:27Sorry, you're up. And so then.
- 17:30It's all good. Yeah, I I know.
- 17:34What are your Avery? Joel, you've been awfully quiet.
- 17:37What do you think? Well, I will, I'm not going to
- 17:40say which team, but I will say this and then we'll move on to
- 17:43the next segment. One of the four teams that you
- 17:45said I am strongly, strongly considering.
- 17:49I will not say which one, but before you told me that it was
- 17:54already a team that I am very strongly considering.
- 17:57So I appreciate you you giving us your feedback and I will take
- 18:02that into consideration. Very good.
- 18:04So who's? Not going to give us anything,
- 18:05Joel. Give us, give us a chat, some
- 18:08little bites to eat, give us some crumbs at least.
- 18:10You have a 25% change, he just said.
- 18:12One of the four teams, and we all know it's not JJ McCarthy or
- 18:16any team that ever would support that.
- 18:18Guy, I don't know that. I know that that's not the case
- 18:20for you. I don't know about Joel.
- 18:23Wait, actually a clarifying question.
- 18:25Are all three of you agreeing on one team?
- 18:27No. Or are you you not?
- 18:29Necessarily. Could it could land that way, it
- 18:31could land. That we don't we don't.
- 18:32Choose your own adventure route here.
- 18:34Not not on purpose. We're not going to land on the
- 18:36same team on purpose. Anyway, there's pros and cons to
- 18:38both. We also don't want to become a
- 18:40podcast that's now like a fan podcast of a team.
- 18:44So it's a little A. Little different and before we
- 18:48before we switch off sorry before we switch off that real
- 18:51quick I like what you said every this is what my kids are in a
- 18:54room for but I I sat down with my wife and we went over all 32
- 18:59NFL teams and we looked at the logo and we looked at their
- 19:02color schemes and we looked at all of these things like what do
- 19:05you think about this Do you like this logo?
- 19:08Do you like these colors? And there were some she's like
- 19:11this looks dumb. Dolphins, I'm looking at you.
- 19:15That meant bluey thing and that orange.
- 19:19That's child's play. Stop doing that garbage.
- 19:22And so like that. We I it is a family affair in
- 19:26this house. And I think it's going to come
- 19:28down to I have three or four teams here and I asked my son,
- 19:33which one of these do you like best?
- 19:35And that's just kind of what we go with.
- 19:37And he keeps pointing to that orange helmet and you're like,
- 19:40stop son, stop the. Browns will not be up there.
- 19:44Quit it. Yeah, I actually, I actually did
- 19:47the same thing. I.
- 19:47Love them Dad, don't take them away from me.
- 19:50I actually did the same thing with my son.
- 19:53I, I showed him a picture of all the NFL logos and I said, which
- 19:56of these three do you like the best?
- 19:58And he, I mean, he picked like 12 of them, but he.
- 20:02Yeah. Do you think some bad ones?
- 20:042 two years a point of picking A-Team now that your kids will
- 20:09root for you almost need a little bit of an origin story to
- 20:14defend your fan base or defend your switch over right?
- 20:18Mine is mine is Tanner Morgan's Madden 2000 that I played on the
- 20:22N64. That was what got me to be a
- 20:25chiefs fan because I did a random team and it was the
- 20:28Chiefs and they had Priest Holmes and Tony Gonzalez and
- 20:31Dante Hall and an all pro offensive line and I destroyed
- 20:36my buddy with them, Eli Bond. And then I was like, oh cool,
- 20:39this team must be really good. I know nothing about football,
- 20:42but that was like what got me to like them, right?
- 20:45You have to have a grab, you have to have a hook.
- 20:46You have to have you have to be attracted to the team, as we
- 20:50said. Well, as part of my I'm actually
- 20:52kind of taking back the Vikings because that yellow and purple,
- 20:55I just. That purple is terrible.
- 20:58I do love their their iced white jerseys though, those are sweet.
- 21:02But the Bengals have the same Snow Tiger jerseys, and those
- 21:05are sick. Yeah, but I'm not going to
- 21:08recommend True bro. Nobody recommend and he's out.
- 21:12And I'm not going to recommend the Raiders because Mark Davis's
- 21:15haircut still size. Is terrible.
- 21:19It's the biggest drive back for the Raiders is the ownership.
- 21:22I look forward to it at the end of every episode.
- 21:24Well. It's like, dude, if you can't
- 21:26get the right haircut, how can we trust you to get the right
- 21:29team, dude? You're not wrong.
- 21:32Dude if if Brock Bowers can grow a better haircut than Mark Davis
- 21:38then. All right.
- 21:43All right. So let's move on to our next
- 21:45segment here. So we're going to do the panic
- 21:49meter for O and two teams. And so the there are currently
- 21:53ten NFL teams that are O and two.
- 21:55We've got the Chiefs, Texans, Saints, Jets, Dolphins,
- 21:59Panthers, Bears, Browns, Titans, and Giants.
- 22:02We are going to rank their panic meters on a scale of zero to 10,
- 22:07with 0 being no panic at all and 10 being extreme panic.
- 22:11And we're not going to rank all of their panic meters because
- 22:15for the Saints, we don't need to rank the panic meter because
- 22:18everybody thought they were going to suck anyway.
- 22:20So there's no panic. No one's panicking over the
- 22:23suckiness. Exactly.
- 22:25But there are three teams that we're going to rank the panic
- 22:28meters for. And what I would like to do is,
- 22:31since there is 3 of you, I would like to have each of you take
- 22:35the lead on one of these teams. Obviously, I'm going to start
- 22:39with Lincoln and give him the lead with the Chiefs because
- 22:42he's a Chiefs fan. So, Lincoln, on a scale of zero
- 22:46to 10, what is the panic meter for the Chiefs right now?
- 22:49Like zero to 10 is a three as in there's there's concern.
- 22:53This is the first time the chiefs have been O and two, we
- 22:56play the the giants this week. So that instills a little more
- 23:00confidence, if at least to the giants panic meters a a A9 like
- 23:04we're we're stressing out here. However, compared to some of the
- 23:08other O and two teams that are considered potential playoff
- 23:12bound teams and looking at our division, like, you know,
- 23:16obviously we got the chargers who look really good right now.
- 23:19The Raiders and Broncos are both one-on-one, but they're you're
- 23:21not overly scared like they're still going to be tough games
- 23:25there. There's a long rest of the
- 23:26season. The Chiefs can build themselves
- 23:28back up, win some divisional games, whatever it is, blah,
- 23:30blah, blah, But with missing our two top wide receivers and in,
- 23:35everybody can say it's about injuries and about, you know,
- 23:37blah, blah, blah, whatever fill in the blank excuse you want to
- 23:40use. I'm not concerned in totality of
- 23:44where the Chiefs are heading, but I am frustrated, if that
- 23:48makes sense. It does one thing I don't
- 23:52understand, and maybe you can shed some light on this a little
- 23:54bit. Lincoln is, I feel like the
- 23:57Chiefs are trying to force the ball down the field too much.
- 24:00Like like I see Patrick Mahomes doing overthrows and just his
- 24:04passes don't look as good as they were before.
- 24:07And maybe it's because they're guys are hurt.
- 24:09I don't know. But I feel like, like I said
- 24:11this on a a TikTok live that Will and I did when somebody
- 24:15asked us about Travis Kelsey, like why don't they just do
- 24:18short, quick passes to Travis Kelsey because the Eagles
- 24:21wrecked them in the Super Bowl. Everybody knows that and like
- 24:25it. It's the same thing.
- 24:26Like it wasn't as bad this time around, but they still lost.
- 24:30But why don't they just do short, quick passes?
- 24:32Like I feel like that's like what Tom Brady did when he was
- 24:34going against a tough defense. It was just short, quick passes.
- 24:38And then he ended up winning the game because he's not sitting
- 24:40back there waiting to be sacked, like, and he's not making the
- 24:44overthrows of his receivers downfield because he's not
- 24:46trying to force it downfield. To me, it feels like the Chiefs
- 24:49are trying to force the ball down the field.
- 24:52And maybe it's because they think Xavier where he's still
- 24:54there and he's not. But I don't, I don't know the
- 24:56exact reason, but it feels like they're forcing the ball down
- 24:59the field when I feel like they should be just doing shorter,
- 25:02quicker passes and it would be more efficient.
- 25:05You're correct. They are forcing the ball down
- 25:06the field. And that's because if you watch
- 25:09all 22, the Chiefs have the the distance that the safeties are
- 25:15back compared to the Chiefs and compared to the rest of the NFL.
- 25:19It's like almost a standard deviation closer to the line of
- 25:22scrimmage. And so the safeties are just
- 25:25creeping up because they know they're just trying to hit Juju
- 25:27across the middle. Kelsey on short, little, you
- 25:30know, crossers on the inside, running back screens, blah,
- 25:33blah, blah. They're trying to push the ball
- 25:35in the field to get those safeties to back up a little
- 25:37bit. Granted, they don't have Xavier
- 25:39Worthy and Hollywood Brown is not as much of A field stretcher
- 25:42as I thought he was going to be. But they're throwing the ball to
- 25:45Taekwond Thornton, who's made a few plays, even though Patrick
- 25:48Mullins has missed him a few times.
- 25:50But I mean, you have to push the ball.
- 25:53You have to show that you're willing to push the ball to just
- 25:56get teams to watch that and then adjust their game plan
- 25:59accordingly, right? Because if you just throw dink
- 26:02and dunks, which is what the Chiefs did the last two seasons,
- 26:04the Eagles in the Super Bowl, they didn't have anybody deep.
- 26:07They just played everything super short.
- 26:09And guess what they rushed for? They played a shallow drop
- 26:14coverage and the Chiefs had nothing to do with it.
- 26:17There's no openings. They didn't hardly play any man.
- 26:20You couldn't run any man meters off of it.
- 26:22They dropped seven in coverage, every single down, like just
- 26:26directly 7 yards from the line of scrimmage, she said nowhere
- 26:29to go with the ball. And with a good tackling team
- 26:31like the Eagles, they rallied and got on every single pass,
- 26:35every single ball carrier. There's nothing.
- 26:38Granted, I also think part of it is that our running game sucks
- 26:42with Kareem Hunt and Pacheco just does not look like he's got
- 26:47it. He looks like he's not as angry
- 26:48as the ground at the ground as he used to be, which is
- 26:51unfortunate. But honestly, and I hate to say
- 26:54this because I know how homerish this sounds when we get Rasheed
- 26:58Rice back after his suspension, which why do we have these guys
- 27:04that just like, why do we take these problem characters and we
- 27:07we smooth them over and we make it work mostly.
- 27:10And then he drives Lamborghini into the back of somebody car,
- 27:12somebody's car, 120 miles an hour.
- 27:14I don't know. But when we get Rasheed Rice
- 27:16back, I think that's going to add a huge dynamic on top of
- 27:20Kelsey. It's going to take Juju off the
- 27:22field. It'll be a better compliment to
- 27:24Hollywood Brown. And I believe Xavier Worthy is
- 27:26supposed to come back this week, if not next week for sure.
- 27:29Adding, you know, those two dynamics and just here a few
- 27:33weeks, I think that'll open up the middle of the field because
- 27:36you're going to have different levels of the field opened up
- 27:39there. Because right now, Kelsey can't
- 27:40go more than 5 seven yards down the field, and Juju can't do the
- 27:44same either. You think Kelsey retires up this
- 27:47year? 100%.
- 27:50He's getting married, he's got to focus on that.
- 27:54And conspiracy. I think that they're planning on
- 27:57having a child soon. Dude who's that's?
- 28:00Not like conspiracy, that's just natural like.
- 28:02Maybe, yeah, maybe not conspiracy, but that's just like
- 28:05a. Man loves a woman.
- 28:07Like before they get married or after they get married?
- 28:10Sometime after. I probably a questionable
- 28:14timeline. To mess with butt, we rush a
- 28:19quick. Way to be like take that butt,
- 28:21Kerr. No, I think, I think they want
- 28:23to start having kids, but I think they want to get married
- 28:241st. And so I know that he's
- 28:26concerned about not concerned about that.
- 28:28I know that that's taking up a huge focus of his life.
- 28:29I don't know why we're talking about this anymore.
- 28:31Next O and two team. I love talking about Travis.
- 28:34Shows he's crouched. What are you talking about?
- 28:35He's sick of wearing a rubber man.
- 28:39Who's not, though? Come on.
- 28:41Come on. Can we hurry up and get this
- 28:44ceremony over? I would.
- 28:46I'd rather have it than not, let's just say.
- 28:48That just just do what I did and go get snipped.
- 28:50Snip snap, snap, snap snap snap right Shout out Michael Scott.
- 28:56We all it's still 6 balls. It's still 6 balls.
- 28:58It is. Are there both still there but
- 29:00they just don't function? If they wanted, if they needed
- 29:03to, if we chose. I don't know about.
- 29:05The episodes that I'm on, we just go off the rails.
- 29:08I don't know, I smelt the burning.
- 29:10I don't think they work anymore. Oh.
- 29:12No. Every man who's had a vasectomy
- 29:17knows exactly what I'm talking about.
- 29:20It's my time, Sir. We've had a lot of three guys on
- 29:22this show. We have not had a lot of balls
- 29:24talk. I'm glad we're finally doing it.
- 29:27You know. There's, there's some fans that
- 29:28are like. To the balls.
- 29:30The testicular discussions have been lacking for sure.
- 29:33You guys keep talking about football, which is fine, but at
- 29:36some point, let's circle. Back.
- 29:39I mean, they're the unsung hero. They are the undercarriage that
- 29:44keeps us going. OK, I'm going to reel us back in
- 29:47here. OK, the seat.
- 29:48Of life. OK, so since 2020 when the NFL
- 29:53started having seven playoff teams, there has been 42 teams
- 29:56that have started O and two and only five of those teams have
- 29:59made the playoffs, which is 11.11%.
- 30:03Yep, 11.9%. Three of those five teams that
- 30:07started O and two made the playoffs last season, which is
- 30:11the Broncos, the Rams, and the Ravens.
- 30:14So just because the Chiefs are O and two, it does not mean that
- 30:17they are not going to make the playoffs.
- 30:20I mean, it doesn't mean they're going to make the playoffs
- 30:22either, but it doesn't mean they're not going to make the
- 30:23playoffs. I think like you said, Lincoln,
- 30:25if they lose to the Giants, then there's some extreme panic
- 30:28there. But I personally ranked it their
- 30:30panic meter as a 5 just because it's right in the middle.
- 30:34I feel like people have thought about the possibility of the
- 30:37Chiefs not making the playoffs, but also they're still confident
- 30:40that the team will make the playoffs.
- 30:42So that's why I ranked them as a 5.
- 30:43It's just. So unusual.
- 30:45However, there's also What is it 37% of teams that have started 2
- 30:51and O have missed the playoffs as well so.
- 30:54So question for you, Lincoln. You guys have the Giants next.
- 30:58And let's just say you win that one in New York, then you're
- 31:02home against the Ravens. Let's say you lose that one.
- 31:04Now you're one and three. Does your panic meter move at
- 31:07all? Panic meter definitely.
- 31:09I mean, losing to the Ravens is almost like expected.
- 31:13And then we have the Jags and then the Lions.
- 31:15So it's like we're not. You go.
- 31:17We're not. Easy hard, easy hard, easy hard
- 31:20throughout the entire. Season, which by the way, that
- 31:22by the way, that's followed by the Lions are followed by the
- 31:26Raiders, Commanders, Bills and Broncos.
- 31:29And then the Colts, who are currently undefeated.
- 31:32Correct, who have not punted yet this season.
- 31:35Who have not punted yet this season at all.
- 31:37First team to ever do it's. Wild it's.
- 31:40Crazy. So yeah, I mean, we knew this
- 31:43was going to be a tough schedule.
- 31:44I think if the Chiefs end up as a wild card team, I'm not going
- 31:49to be mad about it. I would obviously rather win the
- 31:52division to keep our street going.
- 31:54But panic Reno right now is out of three.
- 31:56If we lose to the Giants, that's Trump jumping up to a nine.
- 32:00And if we lose to the Ravens were you'll see Chiefs Kingdom
- 32:04at like Defcon do. You What would the chances be of
- 32:07making the playoffs if they. Lose OH and four, I think OH
- 32:11drops on like 2%. It's like 2%.
- 32:14Only to OK, I thought it would have been more for some.
- 32:16Reason it's only happened like 4 times in history.
- 32:19We have an extra game this year or this, you know, era of the
- 32:23NFL to there's also. From more teams in the playoffs
- 32:26at 14 now rather than 12. Correct.
- 32:30Now let's just say worse comes to worse, you guys go oh, and
- 32:32four, do the shoes have a fire sale?
- 32:35Are you starting to trade people?
- 32:38I mean, you don't really, I don't really sound mean about
- 32:40it, but you don't really have other resources to trade.
- 32:42You guys are kind of home grown or like nearing the the end of
- 32:47their NFL life. Like like Juju's probably not
- 32:51going to be on another team or a valuable player on another team.
- 32:54Hollywood Brown could be a peace on another team, but probably
- 32:57not going anywhere. These guys.
- 32:59Are expiring. Yeah, even Xavier Worthy.
- 33:03You're not going to. There's only so much you're
- 33:05going to put up with on another team that because you guys
- 33:08drafted to see if you're worthy. Yeah, correct.
- 33:11Yeah. And so, so there's there's not
- 33:13he'll go to another team, but what kind of level is he going
- 33:15to play at there? And so.
- 33:17Even take Mahomes at this point. That's your one piece that
- 33:21you're probably not going to trade.
- 33:23I mean, you got Chris Jones. He'll probably be somewhere
- 33:25else. Yeah, well, no, Jerry wouldn't
- 33:28do it, although he would get. He wouldn't trade.
- 33:30Patrick, he would get Mahomes and then still start back.
- 33:35Because he's buying it more. Because 2 is better than one.
- 33:39Yeah. No, I don't think that there is.
- 33:43Better than what? You have all 4/4.
- 33:48Olympics. That's just mad, baby.
- 33:50No, I don't think, And that's part of my recommendation in
- 33:53teams for you is the organizational structure, right?
- 33:57The Chiefs have a confident organization that they're not
- 33:59going to panic, at least not as much as the fan base is.
- 34:03If they do start owing for right, they're going to, you
- 34:05know, ready the ship. They're going to turn to Patrick
- 34:07Mahomes and Travis Kelsey and Andy Reid as their leadership
- 34:10and, you know, do what they need to do.
- 34:13Is it going to be easy? No.
- 34:15Or am I, am I confident right now?
- 34:16A little nervous, but you know you roll with it.
- 34:21There's no way that the Chiefs are starting owing for it If if
- 34:24the Cowboys can beat the Giants, the Chiefs are beating the
- 34:27Giants. That we should not have beat the
- 34:28Giants. If the Cowboys can do it, the
- 34:31Chiefs are going to do. Hey, Cowboys put up a fight in
- 34:34the last two weeks. Yep, let's hope every team at
- 34:38least put up a fight. I think the hey, I didn't have
- 34:42the Chiefs in my playoffs. Did you see the Ravens game?
- 34:44Truly, you didn't. I mean, it was told you you'd be
- 34:46the most, right? But it was rushed.
- 34:48But it was. That's just the way the cookie
- 34:50crumbled there. Yeah, and that was the thing.
- 34:52I mean you can, you can take 1 moment out of every single game,
- 34:56but if Travis Kelsey makes that catch and scores a touchdown,
- 34:58the Chiefs go from down 7 on that pick 6 or almost pick six
- 35:03and then a touchdown scored right afterwards to up 7 changes
- 35:06the complete next outcome of the game.
- 35:08Then you don't have the whole tush push BS that I'm so sick
- 35:12of. I wasn't sick of it until this
- 35:13last week and now I'm sick of it because you can't officiate it.
- 35:17I didn't care. I didn't care about the play.
- 35:18Before I was like, yeah, if you're tougher than us, then
- 35:20great, you deserve to get the extra yard.
- 35:22However, when you're cheating doing it and you can't actually
- 35:25officiate it, that's where I start having problems.
- 35:27Even like the head, even like the head guy was like on, on TV,
- 35:31he said. I'm sick of this play.
- 35:33That was my story yesterday, literally.
- 35:35I have no dog in this fight because I didn't care about
- 35:38either team, but I remember watching that and be like this.
- 35:40I don't want to see another Tosh push but they get like third and
- 35:43one. I'm like.
- 35:45OK, I'm so like. Skip ahead.
- 35:46Like, yeah, I'm like, can we just like give them the free
- 35:49first down? Because I don't.
- 35:50I don't want. The first down give them a yard
- 35:52to 1st down. Let's keep going.
- 35:53I don't want. If you if you're about to tackle
- 35:56Saquon at like a yard short, just pull him an extra yard and
- 35:59give him the first down. I don't care.
- 36:00Like it's so annoying. It's not a football play.
- 36:04I wonder what Eagles fans think of that, because I can see
- 36:07obviously most of them will be like, we love it, we love it.
- 36:10And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. But like, but have you ever
- 36:12talked? To a a rational Eagles fan.
- 36:15It's like, how would you feel if that kept happening to you?
- 36:17Like, do you enjoy that? Just this like, well, everyone
- 36:20can do it. It's like, yeah, you guys are.
- 36:23Yeah, that's why. That's why I was a Chief fan.
- 36:25I was like able to brag because I was like, nobody can do what
- 36:27Mahomes is doing. And now quarterbacks can do.
- 36:29But like, at that point when Mahomes is doing it, I was like,
- 36:32yeah, nobody can do it. So it's like super fun to have
- 36:34that advantage. Tosh Bush is like, OK, this is
- 36:36just like ridiculous, but. All right, let's move on to our
- 36:40next team and I'm going to have Will take the lead on this one
- 36:44because it is Will's favorite team, the Chicago Bears.
- 36:48The bears, dear. Will what is the?
- 36:50What is the panic meter for the? Chicago Bears right now, I don't
- 36:54know. I don't know if it's that high
- 36:56unless you're in Chicago. If you're a Bears fan that
- 37:00doesn't live in Chicago, you're like, this is where we expected
- 37:04to be at. Yeah, we had Ben Johnson, but we
- 37:06played the Lions and the Packers.
- 37:10Do we really expect to beat either of those teams?
- 37:14And then I guess they were home versus Lions, but even home
- 37:17versus Lions, you can't even bear them live.
- 37:19When we had him on, he said they were going to lose that Lions
- 37:22and he thought they were going to beat the Packers, He also
- 37:24said. That I remember him saying they
- 37:25were going undefeated though actually.
- 37:26Well, that when we did. The actually until we made him
- 37:29do it by. Game we did the week by week
- 37:31thing. Then they came out to 13 and 4.
- 37:34Yeah, which was bonkers. But hey, you can win 13, your
- 37:39next 15. That's not going to happen.
- 37:42I mean, it's got to be high, right?
- 37:43You expected Ben Johnson to come in and be the guy.
- 37:46We've got Ben Johnson now. We can do the same.
- 37:49And then you realize that Ben Johnson doesn't coach defense,
- 37:53which is why the the Lions are hanging 52 on you and throwing
- 37:56the ball like they are down by 52 in the third quarter and
- 38:00fourth quarter. And then you get some real pop
- 38:02order bull crap when Dan Campbell's apologizing in his
- 38:06post game press conference. And so I, I think it's got to be
- 38:10high because you they think you got you.
- 38:13You got your guy Caleb Williams, you got your coach Dan here, Ben
- 38:19Johnson, you've got your pieces in place.
- 38:21You've got you've got the running back you thought you
- 38:23had. You've got your receivers.
- 38:26They don't. They're not that.
- 38:28I don't think they're that injured right now.
- 38:30They're a pretty healthy team and they still are not putting
- 38:32it together. And Caleb Williams looks worse
- 38:35than last year. I don't know if that's possible.
- 38:38If he looked bad last year. Is it 4000 yards?
- 38:40The Bears have never had a passer or is it 3000?
- 38:43Yeah. So 4000.
- 38:44So a lot of people were saying would be, will be, will be what
- 38:48they had. They did have Jake Cutler.
- 38:51Yeah. Everyone thought, oh, this is
- 38:53the year that we're that Kelly Williams should be a 4000 yard
- 38:56passer. He shouldn't be just like he was
- 38:57at Ohio State, Oklahoma. He'd be USC wasn't as good.
- 39:02Oklahoma, he was pretty good. We've got our guy, Heisman
- 39:05Trophy winner, number one overall pick and he's been
- 39:07straight trash. He's been bad.
- 39:09That team is bad. And if you unfortunately, most
- 39:14irrational fans go into the every single year thinking this
- 39:17is our year, we're going to do good this year, and then you
- 39:20started off getting bodied twice in a row by divisional rivals
- 39:25and I don't know. If they were, they were in the
- 39:26Vikings game. They just pissed the pants and
- 39:29let the Vikings win it. But.
- 39:31Oh, yeah, They put the Vikings on the Packers.
- 39:33That's right. Thank you.
- 39:35Yeah, yeah, that's a good point. You get them in the fourth
- 39:38quarter, you were beating the Vikings and all of a sudden you
- 39:40let old broke leg JJ McCarthy went, he came back and win.
- 39:46This guy who sat out an entire year and then now it's not just
- 39:52crap by JJ McCarthy, although I will never miss an opportunity.
- 39:55He's played eight quarters of football, won't play for the
- 39:57next two to four weeks, probably before for being honest.
- 40:00He's had one good 7:45 quarters. He's played eight quarters of
- 40:05football. One of them has been good and it
- 40:06was a fourth quarter against the Bears.
- 40:09So you had, you stopped them for 3/4 and then you just stopped
- 40:12playing defense and you stopped playing offense because you
- 40:14couldn't do anything here either.
- 40:15Although they they could play offense, they had to.
- 40:18It was a back and forth fourth quarter.
- 40:20This better team is bad and they're going to keep being bad.
- 40:23I would say the paint reader should be high if you're
- 40:26irrational, but this is where you should expect to be if
- 40:29you're a Bears fan. So it should be in the middle.
- 40:32This is what we expected. Yeah, I mean, to that point,
- 40:36everybody in the non Bears fandom expected the Vikings to
- 40:40be sold this year, expected the Lions to be an NFC contender
- 40:43this year, right. So starting out losing those
- 40:46games is not unrealistic or not like out of it's not like, Oh my
- 40:51gosh, they they lost to the Saints and the Panthers.
- 40:54Like, no, you, like, it's not unrealistic to say that you
- 40:58expected those losses. I think it's the way that they
- 41:01lost them that is probably frustrating Bears fans the most.
- 41:04Yeah. And it's the fact that, I mean,
- 41:06there, there's two pieces of it. Ben Johnson was thought to be
- 41:10like this mastermind, right? He needed a cerebral quarterback
- 41:15like Jared Goff to actually execute his offense.
- 41:18Whereas we've we're now learning very quickly that Caleb Williams
- 41:21is not a cerebral quarterback. He's very talented physically.
- 41:25He's a freak, but he's not cerebral.
- 41:27He doesn't know how to watch film.
- 41:29Like that's that was a storyline that came out this offseason.
- 41:31It's like he doesn't know how to watch film.
- 41:33He's making excuses. Some guys writing a book about
- 41:35him and then it was like 31 anonymous coaches came out and
- 41:40talked about how terrible of a off the field quarterback he is.
- 41:44There's 32. Well, no, it's like like
- 41:47quarterback coaches and oh, OK, yeah.
- 41:49They all came out. We're anonymous like that's.
- 41:51All right, like former, like college coaches and and like
- 41:59ancillary coach coaches for the Bears last year because they
- 42:02cleaned house pretty much. And also it's the defense.
- 42:05They thought that the defense was going to be kind of the like
- 42:08steady ship for them because their defense was actually
- 42:10really solid the last two seasons.
- 42:12I want to say they finished in like the top five in like most
- 42:16major statistics last year, especially DVOA over the back
- 42:20half of the season. So they expected the defense to
- 42:22pick that up. And then you blow 52 to the
- 42:25Lions, like, what are we doing? So I talked to one of my friends
- 42:31from Cheesehead and the Bear Podcast and his name is Brendan.
- 42:34So shout out Brendan. I texted him and I asked him
- 42:37what the panic meter was for the Chicago Bears.
- 42:39And I asked him to give me a panic meter for this season and
- 42:42long term. And so this season he said 8
- 42:45long term, he said 5. And I agree.
- 42:48And I want to give a comparison to give Bears fans kind of a
- 42:52long term outlook for their team.
- 42:55So what I'm going to do is I'm going to compare Jared Goff to
- 42:58Caleb Williams and then I'm going to compare the Lions to
- 43:02the Bears. So Jared Goff was drafted in
- 43:052016, number one overall to the Rams.
- 43:08His first season he was not very good at all.
- 43:12He was not very good. Then his next season, Sean McVay
- 43:15comes in, he's a little bit better, but he still wasn't on
- 43:18the level of what you want from a franchise quarterback who was
- 43:22drafted number one overall. It wasn't until 2018, his second
- 43:26year with Sean McVeigh, that he took the Rams to the Super Bowl.
- 43:31That was the year that Jared Goff really started to take off
- 43:34in his career. Now to compare the Lions to the
- 43:38Bears. The first season that Ben
- 43:41Johnson was with the Lions as offensive coordinator, they went
- 43:449:00 and 8:00 and they did not make the playoffs.
- 43:47It was not until the second season that Ben Johnson was the
- 43:50offensive coordinator that the Lions were really, really good.
- 43:54And so I've said this before and I'll say it again, it's going to
- 43:58take time for Ben Johnson to find all the right pieces for
- 44:01the Bears to replicate what he had with the Lions.
- 44:06It's. They did make a lot of nice
- 44:08moves in the offseason. They had a nice draft.
- 44:10They made a lot of good moves in free agency.
- 44:12Bringing in Ben Johnson as the head coach was huge, but it's
- 44:16going to take time for Ben Johnson to put in place what he
- 44:20wants to put in place. It's not going to happen right
- 44:23away. So it's with Jared Goff compared
- 44:25to Caleb Williams. It's going to take time for
- 44:29Caleb Williams to understand what Ben Johnson wants him to
- 44:32do, just like it took time for Jared Goff to understand what
- 44:36Sean McVay wanted him to do. And when he understood that, he
- 44:39was really good. And then same thing with the of
- 44:43Lions and Bears. It's going, it took time for Ben
- 44:45Johnson to get the Lions to where they wanted to be and it's
- 44:49going to take time for him to get the Bears to where they want
- 44:52to be. So long term outlook, I think
- 44:54the panic meter is A5. But I do think this season that
- 44:57Bears fans are probably panicking because of all the
- 45:01hype that was surrounding this team.
- 45:03I mean, also, would you rather have a first year coach of the
- 45:07year and Matt Nagy and then have it tank from there?
- 45:10Or would you rather build and have a kind of rough first year
- 45:14and then, you know, Ben Johnson establishes himself more and
- 45:17more in the organization, quarterback, offense, scheme,
- 45:20everything and have a rough first year and then build from
- 45:23there? You know, I think I'd take that
- 45:25side, but. Yeah.
- 45:28All right, so let's move that. Nagy sucks.
- 45:32All right, so let's move on to our third team here, which is
- 45:35the Houston Texans. And so Avery will have you take
- 45:37the lead on this one. What's the panic meter for the
- 45:40Houston Texans right now? I would say probably.
- 45:45I mean, I'd say probably 5. I mean they were ten and seven.
- 45:49The past, I think like two seasons.
- 45:51Yeah. Then again though, I kind of see
- 45:54this like I would have thought Lincoln would have given a
- 45:57higher grade. I understand he's a fan, but I
- 45:59guess I kind of see it compared to like what success they
- 46:03expect. And I feel like because the
- 46:06Chiefs are the Chiefs, because I agree that like a three is like
- 46:09it's probably accurate because I wouldn't be super concerned.
- 46:12It's like, hey, we just started. There's plenty of time to
- 46:15correct the ship. But also it's like, hey, like we
- 46:18should be like better than this. Like we've been an established
- 46:23team. I feel like the Texans have just
- 46:26perpetually just been right on the cusp.
- 46:29Just like good enough to to get a playoff berth, but not bad
- 46:36enough to get a good draft pick. And they just sit in that zone.
- 46:39I don't think they look very good at all.
- 46:42So I would kind of panic a bit. They can't get a first down to
- 46:45save their life. Maybe that will change, I don't
- 46:49know, but it doesn't look great. I've not been a fan of CJ
- 46:53Stroud. Like I, I, I feel like he's been
- 46:56over hyped for a while. I think he had some of that kind
- 46:59of rookie success, kind of that Deke Deke Jack and Zeke just
- 47:04called him Deke now that kind of that rookie year, kind of like,
- 47:08Oh yeah, we're we're off to a hot start until everyone, you
- 47:11know, figures this out. I just don't think he looks
- 47:13like, I mean I, I he looks like a starter but not any anyone I
- 47:20would trade for or anything. After his rookie season he
- 47:23looked like an All Pro quarterback and now he looks
- 47:25like an average quarterback. Yeah, and, and I'm also I'm, I'm
- 47:29a, I'm a quarterback apologist to a degree.
- 47:31Like I can tell like K, like if your line isn't good, if your
- 47:36receivers aren't catching the ball, they hit them in both of
- 47:39their hands and it drops. I'm like, OK.
- 47:42Or if they tip it, they they're they're running their route,
- 47:44they put their hand up and just, and just just set the ball up
- 47:47like a volleyball player to ADB and it's a pick.
- 47:51And I'm like, OK, that's what are you doing.
- 47:54That being said, that is not CJ Stroud.
- 47:56I don't. I just don't think he's that
- 47:57good. I think other quarterbacks have
- 47:58those issues where it's not really their fault.
- 48:01Burrough comes to mind. Cam Ward recently.
- 48:05Yeah, I just, I'm like, OK, if this give the man a chance here,
- 48:09I just see him running for his life on every highlight play.
- 48:12Just Burrough, Just constantly. Yeah, there was offensive line
- 48:17and it didn't like. No, no they did not.
- 48:21And they they scored nine points against the Rams and 19 points
- 48:24against the Bucks. Their defense, I mean, held the
- 48:27Rams to 14 points, held the Bucks to 20 with the kind of a
- 48:30game-winning drive there. So either defense is still
- 48:33solid. And I love D'amico Ryan's.
- 48:35I think he's such a solid head coach.
- 48:36Like Jamaica rhymes with the Chiefs head coach.
- 48:38I'd be stoked because I know my defense is going to be solid
- 48:41regardless. And they've got key defender or
- 48:44they've got a great secondary. They've got Daniel Hunter and
- 48:47Will Anderson rushing off the edge.
- 48:48Like they've got good pieces in place.
- 48:51It's all on CJ Stroud right now. And I think CJ Stroud is feeling
- 48:55a lot of that pressure and trying to maybe over perform.
- 48:57So it's kind of pushing things. Yeah, with the Colts being two
- 49:01and oh, I'd be like, wait, what's going on?
- 49:03Like am I did I did I have a bad dream about this or something
- 49:06like that. But with a soft division, I
- 49:09don't know if they should be panicking too much because they
- 49:12do get to play the Colts twice, the Jaguars twice and the Titans
- 49:15twice. Those are pretty soft wins.
- 49:18I mean, no win is easy in the NFL, but those are pretty soft
- 49:21wins in comparison to the Broncos and the Chargers, right?
- 49:25Like so the odds of them winning their division are high.
- 49:29However, I don't think that if somebody else wins the division
- 49:32that they are going to take a wild card spot.
- 49:34I think there are too many good teams in the NFC North and or
- 49:37sorry, the AFC North and the AFC West that I don't think there's
- 49:41extra space for two teams in the AFC South.
- 49:44The other thing is the Texans have the Jags and then the
- 49:48Titans coming up next, and I feel like that is a after those
- 49:53two games, I think we'll kind of know.
- 49:55You better get right. Yeah, exactly.
- 49:57You can't lose these games. These are the games you're
- 49:59supposed to win to pad your record after you lose to the
- 50:02real teams. Yeah.
- 50:05All right, well, we'll, we'll skip to our last segment here
- 50:09and just for the sake of time. So what we were going to do is
- 50:12we're going, we're each going to do 1 Fantasy football Week 3
- 50:16start and sit. But I think for the sake of
- 50:19time, we'll kind of cut it in half.
- 50:21So will do, two of us will give a week 3 start and two of us
- 50:26will give a Week 3 sit. So is there anyone who would
- 50:29like to do the starts? Avery?
- 50:32OK. And.
- 50:34And I get to choose the other. *.
- 50:38That's why it's you. Because I chose you, that's why.
- 50:43Wait, who did you choose? Me.
- 50:47Who did you choose? Yeah, I just.
- 50:48Told the start in your fantasy? No, just for you to be the other
- 50:51starter. OK, so Avery and I will do the
- 50:53Week 3 starts and then Will and Lincoln will do the Week 3 sits.
- 50:57All right, so Avery, take it away.
- 51:00Give us your Week 3 fantasy football start.
- 51:05I was going to say Jake Browning, but because I think I
- 51:08think I think after all those picks he threw, I think he comes
- 51:11in right. But I'm going to go with Danny
- 51:13Dimes. I think at this point, I mean,
- 51:17and I'm looking at this from our unique perspective as fantasy
- 51:22owners of Dak Prescott and Michael Pennix.
- 51:27It's one of those things you're like, look, Dak could go off,
- 51:30but if we start him, he's not going to do well.
- 51:32And if we play Pennix, he's not going to do well.
- 51:35And I feel like Danny Dimes might be one of those guys where
- 51:38as soon as you pick him up, as soon as you start him, he's
- 51:41every defense is going to figure him out.
- 51:43And I'm hoping, I'm hoping that New York was the issue here and
- 51:47that he's actually a really good quarterback and we just haven't
- 51:50seen it. But I'd still pick him up.
- 51:52I think that that guy's, their offense is clearly rolling
- 51:55fantasy wise. I think he's he's looking like a
- 51:58good pick. I'll just say this about Daniel
- 52:02Jones. I I told myself that if he could
- 52:06repeat his success from week one against the Broncos defense that
- 52:10I would start to believe because we have seen Daniel Jones have
- 52:14good fantasy games in the past. You would start to think about
- 52:18potentially believing in him. Yes, yes.
- 52:21Preliminarily, yes. Yeah, because we have seen him
- 52:25have really good fantasy games in the past, but then it just
- 52:28fades away into nothing. And so we've seen this before,
- 52:32but I feel like this is a much better situation that he's in
- 52:36now. He's only been sacked one time
- 52:38in each game. And I think, I don't remember
- 52:42exactly what year was, but I believe in 2023, the Giants
- 52:47allowed 85 sacks, which is insane.
- 52:53And so he was just getting absolutely wrecked when he was
- 52:56with the Giants. And you can kind of see that a
- 52:58little bit now with Russell Wilson.
- 53:00Like he's running for his life out there.
- 53:02That offensive line is not good. And so with an actual JIT
- 53:07offensive line, he is doing very well.
- 53:10And so that's one of the biggest reasons why I think he can
- 53:13continue to have a success at least a little bit longer than
- 53:16he's had in the past. I credit the Ursay woman.
- 53:20Who's over? There looking the whip on the
- 53:21sideline, making sure them those those boys know what they're
- 53:25doing. She sit there taking her on that
- 53:27notepad. Dude, she's been doing that for
- 53:29years. I don't know if you had her
- 53:30husband. She's been doing that for a long
- 53:32time. But now that Jim, everybody.
- 53:33Here, they're bringing attention to it now, yeah.
- 53:36And has she, has she realized that they know what they're
- 53:37doing yet? Or is she still trying?
- 53:38To figure it out. So Jim Mersay passed away.
- 53:41Rest in peace, Jim Mersay. So now the three or say
- 53:45daughters, Carly, I don't know who, all their names.
- 53:48Yeah, it doesn't. They are now running the team,
- 53:51all three of them. And she has been the one part
- 53:55and she's been on the field for years now.
- 53:57It's been, it's been multiple years that she has had a headset
- 54:01on and is on the field because she has to know that her coaches
- 54:05are making the right call. She allegedly, she's not
- 54:08stepping in Jerry Jones style and saying no, run right here or
- 54:12pass right here. But she is listening in to make
- 54:15sure her coaches know what they're talking about.
- 54:19OK, I have two questions. The the 1st is does she have any
- 54:23say before the play actually happens or is she simply
- 54:27monitoring it? No, she's simply she's.
- 54:29Simply monitoring it. Why doesn't she just watch the
- 54:32game? We can all see what the coach
- 54:34called. Why do you need to hear it
- 54:36beforehand? Is it like?
- 54:38Because if you're right there and the coach called makes a bad
- 54:41play or a bad call or does something else, you have to walk
- 54:44your ass up to him and ream ream him right then.
- 54:48Why does Tom Brady, wearing a headset in the coach's booth
- 54:51when he's a minor, a partial owner of the.
- 54:54There's. A lot of reasons that.
- 54:57That's, I mean, I think he could give some some.
- 55:01I just feel like with this moment, it's like, Kate, you're
- 55:03listening to the calls. Like is it just like I know I
- 55:07can see the call on the field. I just want to know who so the
- 55:11call, was it the coordinator, was it the coach?
- 55:12And how did you recall? It's also about the
- 55:15communication. She wants to hear the
- 55:16communication happening. She doesn't want to see the
- 55:18play. She's not just seeing the play
- 55:20happening. It's hearing the communication,
- 55:22which you could do from anywhere.
- 55:24But I'm sure being down on the field, it's just a different
- 55:28aspect to it. The same reason why Jerry Jones
- 55:30used to be on the field. He doesn't do as much anymore,
- 55:32but like the last five minutes of every game.
- 55:34Jerry used to stand there on the sideline right next to the head
- 55:37coaches. He used to piss me off every
- 55:38single week. Like get your behind back in
- 55:42your box. It is.
- 55:44It's not who it is. I think it's different from
- 55:47Carly Orsay, though. I I don't know why.
- 55:50I just view it as different from her.
- 55:52Someone described her as striking and when I when I heard
- 55:56that term, I was like, oh, is she like pretty?
- 55:59No, she is striking. She's striking, dude.
- 56:02Yeah, she's very striking. That's a.
- 56:04Great way to describe her, that's how.
- 56:06We are brows. Striking, dude.
- 56:10All right, anyways, Lincoln, give us your Week 3 fantasy
- 56:13football sit of the week. You know I'm going to bring my
- 56:17Chiefs insight. Isaiah Pacheco is an easy sit
- 56:20this week sadly against the Giants D line which low key is
- 56:25like one of the best D lines in the NFL and with the Chiefs
- 56:29running back room being as convoluted as it is, this is an
- 56:31easy sit sadly. I've got him in both my leagues
- 56:34which is lame and unfortunately until we can actually see it I
- 56:40got to say to bench my guy Bill Croskey.
- 56:43He's the running back for the commanders.
- 56:46The dude can speak Braille and I heard he once killed 2 stones
- 56:51with 1 bird like he is a menace. I love Bill Croskey, but until
- 56:57we actually see some legitimate stats build up from him, he's
- 57:00got to be a bench for now all. Right, well for my week 3 fan I
- 57:07guess. Football start, can I guess?
- 57:09Yes, go ahead. It's Cam scataboo.
- 57:12It is not. It's not.
- 57:13Wow, that legitimately surprises me.
- 57:15I was. Out against the.
- 57:16Chiefs, I was Jackson Dart. He's putting out a hit on
- 57:20Wilson. I wish it was Jackson Dart.
- 57:23OK, so for my week 3 fantasy football start I have Bears wide
- 57:26receiver Rome Adunze. Love it.
- 57:29And the reason why is because he leads the team in not only
- 57:33targets, but receptions and touchdowns.
- 57:36He's actually the only Bears receiver who has a receiving
- 57:40touchdown in both games. He's the only one who has caught
- 57:44a receiving touchdown for the Bears, and he is playing a
- 57:48Dallas Cowboys defense that just let Russell Wilson throw for 450
- 57:54yards, 450. Let Russ cook, bro.
- 57:59Dallas has allowed the third most passing yards through two
- 58:01weeks. And it doesn't matter how you
- 58:05feel about Caleb Williams, if you have Roma Dunze on your
- 58:08fantasy team, start him this week because not only has he
- 58:11been the best receiver for that team, he is playing an
- 58:15absolutely awful defense. Absolutely terrible.
- 58:21Love it. I'm I'm on board.
- 58:23I wish I had him. I I got a Mecca booklet though.
- 58:25So you starting to Mecca all day?
- 58:29We have him, we have him on both of our teams and we have started
- 58:32in both weeks. Love a Mecca?
- 58:35All right, will give us your fantasy football Week 3 sit.
- 58:39I don't like to do this. I don't like to say this out
- 58:42loud. I actually like this player a
- 58:43lot. But he missed all the training
- 58:45camp with the holdout and he until I, like Lincoln said with,
- 58:51with Bill Croxy, until I start seeing production and I don't
- 58:54think it's going to happen till like Week 5 when he finally gets
- 58:56his feet under him with Jayden Daniels.
- 58:59It's got to be Terry Mclaurin. He went, he had 9 targets last
- 59:03week, brought in five balls for 48 yards, which is not horrible,
- 59:08no touchdowns. He had 27 receiving yards a week
- 59:11before. So it is improving week to week
- 59:13in our two week sample size, but he's not the main focus in that
- 59:17team right now. All balls run through Debo, and
- 59:20that's truly is a shock to me because before the season, Debo
- 59:25was out there looking like Grimace from, you know, Grimace.
- 59:32He's on the right team. If he was on the Vikings, boy
- 59:35howdy, I'm shocked he was getting the production he is.
- 59:38But at the same time, Deebo was there all offseason.
- 59:41Deebo was there during training camp.
- 59:43He was there to put in the work with Jayden Daniels and Dee and
- 59:46Terry Mcorn wasn't. And so I think it should be
- 59:48another couple weeks before Terry and and Jayden Daniels get
- 59:51their feet back under them. Today, all three of them,
- 59:54Jayden, Deebo and Terry, get their synergy together, to use a
- 1:00:00corporate word. They synergize together and and
- 1:00:03start meshing well. So I I think.
- 1:00:05That's a big word for. You I know it's a four syllable
- 1:00:07word synergy. Appreciate that.
- 1:00:13I I just don't think he's worth worth to start right now and I
- 1:00:16get there playing the Raiders. Wait, it's only three?
- 1:00:23I was trying not to lose us. Oh.
- 1:00:33Shoot, I don't wait until you started saying the next thing to
- 1:00:38say it anyways. I would like to give this, I
- 1:00:43would like to give just one more sit for Week 3 of fantasy
- 1:00:46football because it's related to what Will was saying about
- 1:00:49Mclaurin and it's related because of who this this person
- 1:00:53is playing. So Will was just just mentioned
- 1:00:57Terry Mclaurin, who just played the Green Bay Packers.
- 1:01:00I would sit in Week 3 of fantasy football, I would sit Jerry Judy
- 1:01:03versus the Green Bay Packers. The Packers have played the
- 1:01:05Lions and they had played the Commanders and they made the
- 1:01:08Lions look like the Browns and they made the Commanders look
- 1:01:11very average. Now, the Packers have been not
- 1:01:14kind to almost every single position for fantasy football
- 1:01:18except for tight ends. The only position that they've
- 1:01:22been kind to is tight ends. So other than that, the running
- 1:01:26backs have not done well. The wide receivers have not
- 1:01:28really done very well at all. They have not allowed a running
- 1:01:32back to rush for or any player to rush for more than 25 yards
- 1:01:35in two games. And the they have not allowed a
- 1:01:39receiver to get more than 48 yards in two games.
- 1:01:43So if you have any player who's on the Browns except for a tight
- 1:01:48end, do not start them against the Packers.
- 1:01:51All right, so that's going to wrap it up for this episode.
- 1:01:55Thank you again to Lincoln for coming on and for sharing your
- 1:01:57thoughts about who we should choose as our new favorite NFL
- 1:02:01team. We will take that into
- 1:02:03consideration and we look forward to any more advice that
- 1:02:06you have for us in the future as.
- 1:02:08We When's this decision being made?
- 1:02:11We have a a deadline of before the start of next season.
- 1:02:16I think it's going to, I think it's going to be well before
- 1:02:19then, well before then, but that is at least a week.
- 1:02:22That is the that is the deadline.
- 1:02:24Like you have to have a new team before next season starts.
- 1:02:30I I imagine, I don't want to speak for all of this, but I
- 1:02:32imagine we all pick during this season, probably before
- 1:02:35playoffs, but yeah. I would think so, but just so
- 1:02:39with that, we have a, a, some sort of timeline in there.
- 1:02:42That's what the timeline is. I'm not patient enough to wait
- 1:02:44until then, that's my reason. True.
- 1:02:46Not really. Yeah, if I if this.
- 1:02:48Was like, I thought this was like a mid season acquisition
- 1:02:51sort. Of thing, if I I think we're
- 1:02:52trying to draw it out for content.
- 1:02:54Not many people are watching this part of the podcast, but
- 1:02:56let's let's be honest, we're trying.
- 1:02:58To. I'm going back to the Cowboys.
- 1:03:01That's just going to happen. I got to go before.
- 1:03:03Trying to mill. And just deny that this thing
- 1:03:05ever happened, just like I don't know what.
- 1:03:07You're talking about, talking about.
- 1:03:10Not the digital footprint that this is left.
- 1:03:12I love Jerry Jones. What do you mean?
- 1:03:16And that's what I'm afraid of. Well, we can't go back.
- 1:03:19This is a full sign the line separation.
- 1:03:23Agree. We were on a break.
- 1:03:30Well, I was to another school. Well, I have two things to tell
- 1:03:34you. One is that that that Google doc
- 1:03:38that you have I I looked, I saw how would you put in there?
- 1:03:43So just look at that. Just look at the note I left
- 1:03:45you. On.
- 1:03:47And and the second thing is, if you ever think about going back
- 1:03:50to the Dallas Cowboys, just remember that he said.
- 1:03:52Derrick Henry would not have done well on the Dallas Cowboys.
- 1:03:56I'll just leave it at that. I don't.
- 1:03:59Know I I don't. List.
- 1:04:00Are you doubting Jerry's ability to make that team suck?
- 1:04:06You know such little faith in Jerry that you don't think they
- 1:04:09could bring on Derrick Henry and still miss the playoffs.
- 1:04:12That is on the list of reasons why I'm no longer a fan.
- 1:04:15If Will goes back to the Cowboys, you guys will have to
- 1:04:18rename your team to three guys 5 balls podcast because that's
- 1:04:21what will happen one of. Us.
- 1:04:23I can spare both of us. They're both cut.
- 1:04:25It's fine so I need him for balance or anything.
- 1:04:33That's going to wrap it up for episode 28 of Three Guys, 6
- 1:04:35Balls NFL Podcast. Once again, thank you to Lincoln
- 1:04:38for coming on. And as always, don't forget to
- 1:04:41keep your balls played with. We'll see you next time.
- 1:04:44I know y'all and so Mark Davis's haircut still sucks.
