Transcript
- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome back to this week's Off the Bench podcast from
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Premier League. I'm Janny Batici.
- 0:20Speaker 2: And here your journey this express.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Hey Praz, good to see you and look. In Game
- 0:24Speaker 1: MEE twenty two, we had most of the captains the
- 0:26Speaker 1: options blanking, so it was nice this game week is
- 0:29Speaker 1: in Game me twenty three. They all returned with big scores,
- 0:31Speaker 1: especially for Esak and Salah. Did you captain Salah and
- 0:36Speaker 1: how is your game week in general?
- 0:37Speaker 3: I did captain Salad getting it wrong every week between
- 0:41Speaker 3: Salah and Esak, but no, I had a good week generally.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I had sixty seven points. I'm on the cusp of
- 0:46Speaker 3: top ten k. I'm at ten point five K, so
- 0:49Speaker 3: it's been good. But you know, there were a few disappointments,
- 0:53Speaker 3: lots to talk about today, so we'll get into it.
- 0:54Speaker 2: But how was your week as well?
- 0:56Speaker 1: Yeah, not too bad, sixty four so just a small
- 1:00Speaker 1: narrow for me. But yeah, it was nice to have
- 1:02Speaker 1: the big return from Cody Gakpom. We'll speak about him
- 1:05Speaker 1: later and Liverpool in general because Liverpool of course have
- 1:09Speaker 1: that double game week coming up. As de Everton and
- 1:12Speaker 1: gakpo I think he's going to be very popular this week.
- 1:14Speaker 1: But yeah, sixteen point haul from him. The week I
- 1:17Speaker 1: brought him in, selling Nico Jackson felt like a big
- 1:20Speaker 1: weight off my shoulders. So I was very happy with
- 1:22Speaker 1: that transfer this week. But should we kick off with
- 1:24Speaker 1: that Newcastle game because Esak is performing to I think
- 1:28Speaker 1: new heights. I don't think we've ever seen Esak with
- 1:31Speaker 1: this level of consistency. He's the best player in the
- 1:34Speaker 1: game at the minute alongside Salah, isn't he.
- 1:36Speaker 3: I mean from a value from money perspective, he's probably
- 1:39Speaker 3: the best player in the game.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Just keeps getting returns.
- 1:41Speaker 3: He was so close to this Vardi thing as well,
- 1:44Speaker 3: the number of goals consecutive consecutive games missed out obviously
- 1:47Speaker 3: in the last game week, but this one again, I
- 1:50Speaker 3: mean I was thinking, you know, Salah's home to Ipswich,
- 1:52Speaker 3: why not captain him? But this guy comes up with
- 1:54Speaker 3: a triple return and he's just involved in everything. And
- 1:57Speaker 3: he's just a complete striker, right, not just involved in
- 2:00Speaker 3: the goals, but in the overall build up and the
- 2:03Speaker 3: trance creation as well.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Do you know Newcastle not playing any European football I
- 2:07Speaker 1: think really helps Esak in general because we know he's
- 2:09Speaker 1: had his problems with fitness, but Newcastle has a team
- 2:12Speaker 1: and every weekend Newcastle just look completely fresh. And I
- 2:15Speaker 1: think back to a couple of years ago when they
- 2:17Speaker 1: did play in the Champions League and had that really
- 2:19Speaker 1: tough group with teams like PSG and ac Malan, and
- 2:22Speaker 1: I remember Newcastle really suffered off the back of that
- 2:24Speaker 1: their Premier League form. So yeah, we're seeing a fresh
- 2:26Speaker 1: at Esac and I think he could even get the
- 2:28Speaker 1: Golden Golden Boot this season. I think he's two behind
- 2:31Speaker 1: Salar as things stand, but we know European involvement, Esak
- 2:35Speaker 1: maybe has the edge. What do you make of Gordon
- 2:37Speaker 1: Praz because both Gordon and Murphy that is some front
- 2:39Speaker 1: three that is delivering. I feel like Gordon should have
- 2:42Speaker 1: produced more points than he has in recent weeks, but
- 2:46Speaker 1: both Gordon and Murphy are passing the eye test and
- 2:48Speaker 1: the underlying numbers don't look bad either.
- 2:50Speaker 2: They haven't. And I've on Gordon for five weeks now.
- 2:53Speaker 3: He's pretty much got to return every single week and
- 2:56Speaker 3: every game I watch with him, one return just doesn't
- 2:59Speaker 3: feel enough every single game. But you know, at some
- 3:02Speaker 3: point you have to be happy he's still trickling you know,
- 3:05Speaker 3: six to seven points a game week on average over
- 3:07Speaker 3: the recent past, so I've been happy with the doublop.
- 3:11Speaker 3: I guess the question is, and this is you know
- 3:13Speaker 3: people with double ups or even triple ups, people have
- 3:15Speaker 3: Lewis Hale in addition, or even a Murphy. I guess
- 3:18Speaker 3: the question is what happens next? Because they have a
- 3:20Speaker 3: nice fixture this week, which is Fulham at home or
- 3:22Speaker 3: the Fulham have been good defensively, we'll talk about them,
- 3:25Speaker 3: but then they go away to man City, they play Forest,
- 3:27Speaker 3: they go away to Liverpool, then they have west Ham
- 3:30Speaker 3: which is nice, but then they could blanket game Wick
- 3:32Speaker 3: twenty nine.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So what are you thinking? I mean, do you have
- 3:35Speaker 2: Gordon or Whole?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got loose Hole and I mean he's been
- 3:40Speaker 1: brilliant and he steps up with the cysts. I think
- 3:42Speaker 1: I paid four point four for Lewis Hall, so I
- 3:44Speaker 1: had a really nice entry point and he's gone up
- 3:46Speaker 1: in price since the fact he takes half the set
- 3:49Speaker 1: pieces is really appealing. So even in fixes when Newcastle
- 3:51Speaker 1: don't know that they'll keep a clean sheet, you always
- 3:54Speaker 1: back Hole for an attacking return and if he gets one,
- 3:56Speaker 1: he does so well in the bonus point system Lewis Hall,
- 3:59Speaker 1: and especially if they do keep a clean sheet, he's
- 4:00Speaker 1: almost guaranteed bonus. So I'm happy holding Haul. I don't
- 4:04Speaker 1: quite know if i'd be as happy holding Gordon because
- 4:06Speaker 1: of his price point. I also look at Jacob Murphy
- 4:09Speaker 1: and think Gordon and Murphy are performing to similar levels.
- 4:13Speaker 1: And with Harvey Barnes injured, I think Murphy's first choice anyway,
- 4:16Speaker 1: but Harvey Barnes injured even more so we know he's
- 4:18Speaker 1: going to be on the team sheet every week Murphy,
- 4:19Speaker 1: and you save a couple of million. And with players
- 4:22Speaker 1: like in Burmo performing so well, Gordon, owners will be
- 4:25Speaker 1: looking at and Burmo thinking is that an easy switch?
- 4:28Speaker 1: Maybe it is, But yeah, I'm still relatively hot on newcast.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I think they're functioning so so well as a team.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm with you, I'm with you.
- 4:34Speaker 3: And it is that in Boomo temptation for people like
- 4:37Speaker 3: myself who don't have him. He's playing home to Spurs
- 4:40Speaker 3: and vs. What Spurs did this weekend, and we'll talk
- 4:42Speaker 3: about them in more detail. But yeah, I think it's
- 4:45Speaker 3: a move where if you have him, it's okay to hold,
- 4:47Speaker 3: but it's okay okay, also to look at options because
- 4:49Speaker 3: I think there are new other picks emerging, the Bournemouth midfielders,
- 4:53Speaker 3: the Boomos, and so we will talk about those, but
- 4:57Speaker 3: let's talk about Arsenal. My double defense from Arsenal finally
- 5:01Speaker 3: comes through Raya Deliverers with their nin pointer and Gabrielle
- 5:04Speaker 3: with a seven pointer.
- 5:05Speaker 2: What did you make of them?
- 5:06Speaker 3: Oh?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Mate, I knew it was coming. I was gutted. I'm
- 5:09Speaker 1: one of the few out there that don't own an
- 5:11Speaker 1: Arsenal defender. I mean I was on Gabrielle like the
- 5:14Speaker 1: world and their dog until probably three four game weeks ago.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I needed funds. He was my make weight and I've
- 5:20Speaker 1: been getting quite lucky until this game against against Wolves.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Arsenal hadn't kept a clean sheet in four weeks and
- 5:26Speaker 1: I was thinking, how am I getting away with these
- 5:28Speaker 1: Gabrielle one and two pointers. So it was about time
- 5:31Speaker 1: they kept a clean and they always looked like they
- 5:33Speaker 1: were going to do against Wolves, even when they go
- 5:35Speaker 1: down to ten men. You look at Arsenal when they
- 5:36Speaker 1: actually were ten men, they feel equally as likely to
- 5:39Speaker 1: be able to part the bus and Wolves had very
- 5:42Speaker 1: few chances and fair play if You've kept the faith
- 5:44Speaker 1: with double Arsenal defense, and it was nice to see
- 5:47Speaker 1: for all those that have had raya clean sheet wipeouts
- 5:49Speaker 1: him getting the nine points. I feel like it was deserved.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And Ryan does feel like one of the go to
- 5:53Speaker 1: keepers in the game. We know that, and he's someone
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'm actually quite keen to buy Ryer. I think I'll
- 5:58Speaker 1: end up finishing this season with Ryan, and we know
- 6:01Speaker 1: Arsenal will end up being probably the best defensive team
- 6:03Speaker 1: in the league come the end of the season. We've
- 6:05Speaker 1: seen Forest so so good. But I think history tells
- 6:08Speaker 1: us under Arteta, Arsenal just keep clean sheets and arsden
- 6:11Speaker 1: were very good at winning one nil and this was
- 6:13Speaker 1: a proper boring, boring one nil victory, wasn't it. They
- 6:16Speaker 1: remind me a little bit of Jose Mourinho's Chelsea. This
- 6:20Speaker 1: Arsenal team. They grind out results, they keep clean sheets,
- 6:23Speaker 1: they don't score many and when sackers out the team,
- 6:25Speaker 1: the output at the top of the pitch just isn't
- 6:27Speaker 1: the same as it.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Absolutely, I think I am a big sucker fan from
- 6:32Speaker 3: an FBL perspective. I just think he's a brilliant Like
- 6:34Speaker 3: if you had to manufacture an FBL pick, it would
- 6:37Speaker 3: be Sucko on pens, the talisman on corners, which is
- 6:40Speaker 3: very important for Arsenal, and so you know I have
- 6:43Speaker 3: in all my drafts and so I really miss him.
- 6:46Speaker 3: But yeah, I completely agree with you. It's a team
- 6:48Speaker 3: that is very functional. And I had the same feeling
- 6:50Speaker 3: when they got the red card. My feeling was, Okay,
- 6:53Speaker 3: that's actually the clean sheet locked because we've seen them
- 6:55Speaker 3: now a few times and they are now experienced playing
- 6:58Speaker 3: with ten men this season. This wasn't first red card
- 7:00Speaker 3: of the season either. A little bit unlucky Louis Kelly
- 7:03Speaker 3: to get that red card.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. It was a really it was
- 7:06Speaker 1: a really close call, wasn't it. I Mean you don't
- 7:08Speaker 1: see that given often as a red. I think most
- 7:11Speaker 1: fans in the stadium would have thought, oh, here comes
- 7:13Speaker 1: a yellow. So yeah, a little bit of a shock
- 7:15Speaker 1: factor there. But then Califiory comes off the bench at
- 7:17Speaker 1: halftime and he's the one that gets the winner.
- 7:19Speaker 2: So you know his goal threat is actually legitimate.
- 7:22Speaker 3: I mean he has been popping up with golds quite
- 7:24Speaker 3: a bit, so one to monitor maybe maybe at the
- 7:26Speaker 3: back end of the season or even next season.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Mate Kalifiory has the technique of a midfielder and he
- 7:32Speaker 1: hits the ball so so clean. He's he didn't score
- 7:35Speaker 1: like loads of goals in Seriah, but if you if
- 7:37Speaker 1: you search Califiori's like early days in Saraa, you'll find
- 7:41Speaker 1: a couple of worldly efforts. There was one I remember
- 7:43Speaker 1: at Bologna a lot, but also I think it was
- 7:45Speaker 1: a half folly from the edge of the box in
- 7:47Speaker 1: the Europa League for roma worth searching them on YouTube,
- 7:50Speaker 1: like it's so so good he does. He does have
- 7:52Speaker 1: gold throat. We saw it against man City earlier in
- 7:54Speaker 1: the season and obviously we saw it again against Wolves.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Just hits the ball really clean, poetry in motion. Calafiori
- 8:00Speaker 1: hits the ball. I'm a bit of a fan boy there.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I knew bringing up an Italian player would take us
- 8:04Speaker 3: into it into a different part. Let's come back to attackers.
- 8:08Speaker 3: Haverts disappointed again. He has had so many good chances
- 8:12Speaker 3: and you know, I know they're not many owners of
- 8:15Speaker 3: Havert's left, but whoever they are, I mean, they were
- 8:18Speaker 3: very unlucky not to get multiple returns over the.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Last few weeks. Because he keeps getting these headed chances
- 8:23Speaker 2: and he keeps missing.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Them, I know, and he's getting in the positions, and
- 8:28Speaker 1: with Saker out the team, it feels like they're going
- 8:30Speaker 1: quite direct, and Hartz is one of the beneficiaries of that.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I guess.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I do think his numbers will be all right and
- 8:35Speaker 1: it will tickle on quite nicely. I don't think Harts
- 8:37Speaker 1: is a bad owner at all, but of course you'll
- 8:39Speaker 1: be you'll feel really unlucky because you're seeing the chances,
- 8:42Speaker 1: but the output's just not been there. And again, when
- 8:44Speaker 1: you look at that price point up front, you're seeing
- 8:46Speaker 1: other players that are slightly cheaper picking up way more points,
- 8:49Speaker 1: the likes of Chris Wood or more recently Cody Gakpo.
- 8:52Speaker 1: So it's probably quite hard and probably quite frustrating to
- 8:55Speaker 1: be keeping a Kai habits at the minute.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Yeah, and lastly, on this game, I do want to
- 8:59Speaker 3: shout our Kunya. He had four goal attempts, the highest
- 9:03Speaker 3: in the match, more than anyone else, and it's one
- 9:06Speaker 3: of those things where you know, people who had Kunya
- 9:09Speaker 3: know what he can deliver. Of course, there's some transfer
- 9:11Speaker 3: speculation going on, so you know, I wouldn't jump on
- 9:14Speaker 3: him now, but I really like him from game Bik
- 9:16Speaker 3: twenty six Wolves fixtures turn he has a confirmed game
- 9:19Speaker 3: in game week twenty nine, which is the which is
- 9:21Speaker 3: the weekend of the Karraba Cup Final where the team's
- 9:23Speaker 3: in the Karba Cup final will blank. And so he
- 9:26Speaker 3: could beak someone who's coming back into the four. Maybe
- 9:31Speaker 3: by gimme twenty six twenty seven.
- 9:32Speaker 1: He was unbelievable for so many managers a month or
- 9:35Speaker 1: two ago. Kunya. And when we talk about Soakka being
- 9:37Speaker 1: the sort of perfect FPL pick, like the set piece threat,
- 9:40Speaker 1: the pens, the ninety minutes, the talisman of the team,
- 9:44Speaker 1: Cunya is very similar at Wolves. Right when Wolves score
- 9:47Speaker 1: goals or Wolves get points, it's Kunya. And I remember
- 9:49Speaker 1: when I bought Kunya. I remember thinking there's a huge
- 9:52Speaker 1: price difference between the strand laston and a Kunya. Yeah,
- 9:54Speaker 1: they're both playing in a similar position for a fairly
- 9:58Speaker 1: sort of mediocre team. You look at the difference in
- 10:01Speaker 1: output and it's absolutely worth spending six point nine million
- 10:04Speaker 1: on Akunya because he does still provide brilliant value for money.
- 10:07Speaker 1: So yeah, I think coun you will be really popular
- 10:09Speaker 1: in a few weeks time.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Same as you.
- 10:12Speaker 3: There's a few strikers emerging in the sixth and a
- 10:14Speaker 3: half to seven and a half price recket. There's obviously Cornea.
- 10:17Speaker 3: We talked to Brad Chris Wood. There is also Cordy Gagpos.
- 10:20Speaker 3: So I've got you a whole this weekend tell us
- 10:22Speaker 3: about it.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I was so happy with that. I just felt like
- 10:25Speaker 1: we knew Liverpool were going to have this good looking
- 10:27Speaker 1: double game week after the double its Wolves, but before
- 10:30Speaker 1: the double they were presented with an Ipswich fixture which
- 10:33Speaker 1: just looks so good on paper. Knowing that Ipswich had
- 10:36Speaker 1: just lost six mil to man City and Liverpool. Aumfield
- 10:39Speaker 1: are a different beast, so I always fancied a high
- 10:41Speaker 1: ceiling and I was very likely to make that move
- 10:44Speaker 1: for Ipswich. And then we saw in the Champions League
- 10:46Speaker 1: against Lil Gakpo get arrest. I think Gakpo's now ten
- 10:50Speaker 1: or eleven consecutive starts in the Premier League on the
- 10:52Speaker 1: left hand side, make no doubt about it. He's been
- 10:55Speaker 1: first choice for a very long time and eight goals,
- 10:58Speaker 1: three assists in fourteen starts. He's looking good and lots
- 11:02Speaker 1: of those returns do come at at Amfield. But the
- 11:05Speaker 1: gold right is there and the way they play with
- 11:07Speaker 1: Diaz is the number nine. The as is pretty much
- 11:09Speaker 1: a false nine, and therefore that central space Gackpo often
- 11:13Speaker 1: occupies and him and Da sort of rotate on the left.
- 11:16Speaker 1: One is always in the nine and one is always
- 11:17Speaker 1: on the left. So it looks great for Gakpo moving forward,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and he's proper cheap entry to the Liverpool attack at
- 11:23Speaker 1: his price point. Yeah, he's going to be very popular
- 11:25Speaker 1: this week.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I was on the fence, which is why I didn't
- 11:28Speaker 2: do this.
- 11:29Speaker 3: So I obviously was thinking about Chris Wood to Gakpo
- 11:31Speaker 3: last weekend, but I was also debating shall I just
- 11:34Speaker 3: go for Allison or a Konnate as a double defense?
- 11:36Speaker 3: But it does feel very appealing. I am, though, concerned
- 11:40Speaker 3: that the double is both away games. Like you mentioned,
- 11:43Speaker 3: nine of his eleven returns more recently have come at anfield.
- 11:48Speaker 3: But then you think that after the double, so let's say, okay,
- 11:50Speaker 3: the double is hard. It's a way Everton who are
- 11:52Speaker 3: doing really well. It's away Bonnemouth who are absolutely doing
- 11:55Speaker 3: really well, and then you have home to Wolves, which
- 11:58Speaker 3: is basically nice. If you look at it as a
- 11:59Speaker 3: block of three, it's not too bad. Rad Yeah, I
- 12:01Speaker 3: think so block of three extra fixture. You're right, Bournemouth
- 12:04Speaker 3: and Everton away fixtures are much much trickier. But you
- 12:07Speaker 3: still fancy Liverpool to score goals. And if gap Poe's
- 12:10Speaker 3: getting seventy five minutes in both those games, and I
- 12:12Speaker 3: think he probably does minimum, then I'm very happy. It
- 12:15Speaker 3: is worth noting that double game week. There's there's two
- 12:18Speaker 3: fixtures for Liverpool between the first and second game. They've
- 12:22Speaker 3: got an AFL game against semi final against Spurs, then
- 12:25Speaker 3: they've got the FA Cup versus Plymouth and then they've
- 12:27Speaker 3: got the second part of the double game week. So
- 12:29Speaker 3: gap Post should be rested versus Plymouth, which bodes well
- 12:32Speaker 3: for Premier League minutes. But we should also talk about
- 12:34Speaker 3: subots Lie because his numbers were incredible at the weekend,
- 12:37Speaker 3: weren't they. He has been actually quietly, you know, racking
- 12:42Speaker 3: up the shots. He was the leading shot taker for
- 12:44Speaker 3: a second game running so you know. Ernest Slot after
- 12:47Speaker 3: the game was asked you know, what do you think
- 12:48Speaker 3: of sir boss Le's gold threat and he actually singled
- 12:51Speaker 3: him out and he said, look, he used to always
- 12:53Speaker 3: be shy to take a shot. He does it for Hungary,
- 12:55Speaker 3: but not for Liverpool in even in this game in
- 12:58Speaker 3: which he scored, I would have expected him only season
- 13:00Speaker 3: two passes to Salah because he just did that. But
- 13:03Speaker 3: now he started to be more confident and take more shots. Look,
- 13:07Speaker 3: is he a long term option. No, But if your
- 13:09Speaker 3: structure is such that you don't want to lose a striker,
- 13:11Speaker 3: you don't want to get a double Liverpool, you want
- 13:13Speaker 3: somebody for just a double and maybe the rules game.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Maybe he's not a bad shout at six point four million.
- 13:19Speaker 3: It's just a structure thing. I mean, clearly Gakpoo is
- 13:21Speaker 3: a better choice. But I think people could look at
- 13:24Speaker 3: him and just say, look, this is this is a
- 13:25Speaker 3: fine option for the double.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Yeah, even that Salad goal, the Gakpo cross, it was
- 13:30Speaker 1: very nearly a spot slight header. And he's had a
- 13:32Speaker 1: complete different change of position under slot like under Jurgen
- 13:36Speaker 1: Klop he was very much a number eight and we
- 13:38Speaker 1: had all seen him play for Hungary and think, oh
- 13:40Speaker 1: this is exciting in the Premier League is getting a
- 13:42Speaker 1: proper good number ten with goal threat And we never
- 13:44Speaker 1: really saw it on the Clop under on a slot.
- 13:46Speaker 1: We see it. He's that little bit higher up the pitch.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And when Diaz is playing as the number nine, because
- 13:51Speaker 1: Diaz drifts left. When you look at the average position map,
- 13:54Speaker 1: spots Lie is level pegging with Diaz. That's sort of
- 13:57Speaker 1: both playing as nine and a half. They're sort of
- 13:59Speaker 1: both playing folks nine spots on the right, the has
- 14:02Speaker 1: on the left. He's really really advanced. And when you've
- 14:04Speaker 1: got McAllister Gravinbirch and Trent Alexander Arnold all behind you,
- 14:08Speaker 1: because Trent is inverting quite often, he's got complete license
- 14:12Speaker 1: and with no number nine he can occupy those spaces
- 14:14Speaker 1: alongside the as from that right hand side. So the
- 14:17Speaker 1: average position map is brilliant for the Hungarian.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Yep, he's a decent shout. I mean I wouldn't for
- 14:22Speaker 3: people who own Lewis Diaz. I mean my suggestion would be,
- 14:26Speaker 3: now you've got to hold him. It's fine. I mean,
- 14:28Speaker 3: he's still a decent pick. He does have the goal,
- 14:30Speaker 3: the odd goal in now in this particular game, he
- 14:33Speaker 3: didn't have a single shot, but he did have six
- 14:34Speaker 3: shots last week, so it's not like it's completely the
- 14:37Speaker 3: bad pick. And I saw people debating whether they should
- 14:40Speaker 3: sell Diaz to buy a Gatbo. I think the more
- 14:43Speaker 3: you go closer to the double game, Wick, and now
- 14:45Speaker 3: we're here, I think you have to sort of just
- 14:47Speaker 3: lie in the bed that you've made because it is
- 14:49Speaker 3: essentially using transfers to move around your Liverpool picks. Isn't ideal.
- 14:54Speaker 3: And those on double defense, what do you think, Journey.
- 14:56Speaker 1: I prefer double attack. If you're on double defense, your
- 15:00Speaker 1: fingers and you hope you get two clean sheets out
- 15:02Speaker 1: the next three games, and I think you've got a
- 15:04Speaker 1: slim chance there. I expect Liverpool to get one cleaner
- 15:06Speaker 1: the next three. I don't know. Two is maybe wishful thinking,
- 15:09Speaker 1: but very possible, of course. But the ceiling is definitely
- 15:12Speaker 1: there for the attacking players. Is the ceiling there for
- 15:15Speaker 1: double defense, probably not. Is the ceiling there for double
- 15:18Speaker 1: attack absolutely, And I think if you've still got that
- 15:21Speaker 1: decision to making you own to Liverpool already, double attack
- 15:24Speaker 1: is considerably better than double defense. For me, it's probably
- 15:27Speaker 1: a little bit riskier, but it definitely will come with
- 15:30Speaker 1: bigger rewards.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I agree with you, Although to the
- 15:35Speaker 3: guys who do have double defense, I think, look, there
- 15:37Speaker 3: is a positive there. It is a long term pick.
- 15:40Speaker 3: So whoever you've got even kunat looks like long term,
- 15:42Speaker 3: so you don't have to worry about them till your
- 15:44Speaker 3: next wild card, So you can get to an Allison,
- 15:46Speaker 3: get a Vander get a Kunate. They're there set in
- 15:49Speaker 3: forget for a very long time. It's just not the double.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Whereas the people who are getting the attackers for the double,
- 15:55Speaker 3: they may have to look at another transfer in three
- 15:57Speaker 3: or four weeks, which is also fine. But I wouldn't
- 15:59Speaker 3: panic if you and double defense.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a really good point about the longevity of
- 16:03Speaker 1: it on the defenders. I think you're absolutely right there.
- 16:05Speaker 1: And how do you feel about triple caps in this week?
- 16:07Speaker 1: Pras if you've still got the chip, this is surely
- 16:10Speaker 1: the week to pull the trigger, isn't it Salah?
- 16:13Speaker 3: I think so. Look, I think it's not an obvious double.
- 16:16Speaker 3: You know it is Mosalah who's on in the form
- 16:19Speaker 3: of his life. Liverpool are scoring goals for fun, so
- 16:22Speaker 3: why wouldn't you triple captain Salah in a double game week?
- 16:25Speaker 3: So it feels very sensible to do so. But when
- 16:28Speaker 3: you start to overthink it a little bit and say
- 16:30Speaker 3: bone with her playing in an amazing way at home,
- 16:33Speaker 3: especially Everton under Moyes are looking solid. It's the last
- 16:37Speaker 3: Merseyside Davy at Goodison Park and so it feels like
- 16:40Speaker 3: not a huge upside triple captaincy.
- 16:43Speaker 2: But it's the sensible choice.
- 16:44Speaker 3: There's obviously the conflicting argument that you could maybe play
- 16:48Speaker 3: the assistant manager chip. So have you given that a
- 16:50Speaker 3: thought in terms of playing it on Moyes or even Ernestlot.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I definitely have. I've definitely given it a thought for
- 16:56Speaker 1: Moyes because I'm chasing this season. I'm all in it
- 16:59Speaker 1: for those bonus points to ten bonus for a win
- 17:01Speaker 1: with the assistant manager chip for beating a team that
- 17:04Speaker 1: five places are more above you in the Premier League table,
- 17:06Speaker 1: and the five bonus for a draw if you draw
- 17:09Speaker 1: against a team that are five or more places above
- 17:11Speaker 1: you in the Premier League table. And therefore going for
- 17:12Speaker 1: a manager like Moy's probably makes sense for me. I
- 17:16Speaker 1: don't know if I'll be going in twenty four or not,
- 17:18Speaker 1: but when I use it, almost certainly or beyond managers
- 17:21Speaker 1: that are kind of mid to lower end in the
- 17:23Speaker 1: table that can activate that bonus with the right fixture matchups.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Moys presents us with a good opportunity in twenty four.
- 17:29Speaker 1: I went into twenty three saying, if Moys beats Brighton,
- 17:33Speaker 1: I'll consider him for the assistant manager chip in twenty four.
- 17:37Speaker 1: But I also need to see a performance versus Brighton.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I'm not sure if I saw it. I saw the
- 17:42Speaker 1: result and it was brilliant and they relied. Obviously the
- 17:44Speaker 1: penalty gets in the win. Outside of that penalty there
- 17:48Speaker 1: was very little shot volume, there was very little XG.
- 17:51Speaker 1: They were very good defensively, but I don't know if
- 17:53Speaker 1: I can see enough from Everton in attack to go
- 17:57Speaker 1: and score goals even against Leicester, Like, yeah, I expect
- 18:00Speaker 1: them to probably win, but that's no banker lesser of
- 18:02Speaker 1: course beating Spurs over the weekend. So I'm less confident
- 18:06Speaker 1: on the assistant manager chip now than I was perhaps
- 18:09Speaker 1: on Saturday afternoon when I just saw the result. I
- 18:11Speaker 1: hadn't seen the performance for the bright and Everting game.
- 18:14Speaker 1: But yeah, it's definitely front of mind. And if you
- 18:17Speaker 1: go twenty four or Moy's the switch to twenty five
- 18:19Speaker 1: to go on silver who plays Nottingham Forest at home? Again?
- 18:23Speaker 1: The active they activating the bonus very possible there for
- 18:26Speaker 1: Fulham to beat Forest at home. I quite fancy so
- 18:28Speaker 1: it's definitely on my mind.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and actually just moving that forward. I like the
- 18:33Speaker 3: Moyers to Marcos silver switch because you get the table
- 18:37Speaker 3: bonus for first home to Nottingham first and the week
- 18:40Speaker 3: after IP switch at home to Spurs. Now this is
- 18:43Speaker 3: really sad to say, but there is no table bonus
- 18:45Speaker 3: yet because Spurs are not five places above its switch.
- 18:48Speaker 3: They could be because Everton actually played twice and can
- 18:51Speaker 3: overtake them. So it's something that you have to take
- 18:54Speaker 3: a leap of faith on and if you don't get there,
- 18:55Speaker 3: then just put it in an arsenal, you know on Arteta.
- 18:59Speaker 3: So there are options there, but you need to keep
- 19:01Speaker 3: in mind if you're playing the assistant manager Chip that
- 19:03Speaker 3: a you need to have the budget to move around.
- 19:05Speaker 3: So let's say if you want to go to GAB
- 19:06Speaker 3: twenty six and get Arteta, you need to have more
- 19:09Speaker 3: funds to actually buy him. You need to use up transfers,
- 19:12Speaker 3: which I would advise people to do because I think
- 19:14Speaker 3: it's worth chasing that table bonus through different managers. So
- 19:18Speaker 3: I think it's an option and people need to give
- 19:20Speaker 3: it a little bit of thought. Now I don't have
- 19:22Speaker 3: my triple captain Chip, so I'm just going to not
- 19:24Speaker 3: play a chip this week, which is going to be
- 19:25Speaker 3: painful from a rank perspective, but it is what it is.
- 19:28Speaker 3: I think there'll be a couple of doubles coming up,
- 19:30Speaker 3: but I think people who have both the assistant manager
- 19:33Speaker 3: and the Triple Captain they really have a decision to
- 19:35Speaker 3: make whether to which one to play this week. Because
- 19:38Speaker 3: in game week thirty three, which is far away, I
- 19:40Speaker 3: know Salah will play Lester.
- 19:42Speaker 2: That is another double game week. If Liverpool make.
- 19:45Speaker 3: It to the Carbo Cup final, it is another week
- 19:47Speaker 3: where you can play the triple Captains. We won't go
- 19:49Speaker 3: into much more detail about the chip strategies, but it's
- 19:52Speaker 3: just fascinating and there's a choice to be made for
- 19:55Speaker 3: people with both the chips.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm like you. I've used the Triple Capsincy already.
- 20:00Speaker 1: The assistant manager is an option for me. I've left
- 20:02Speaker 1: one point eight million in the bank going into this
- 20:04Speaker 1: game week, so i can go down that route of
- 20:07Speaker 1: assistant manager if I want to, and I've got a
- 20:09Speaker 1: couple of free transfers. But the big thing for me
- 20:11Speaker 1: is do I want to be using transfers on managers
- 20:12Speaker 1: in the next few weeks? Or do I want to be
- 20:14Speaker 1: accumulating them knowing twenty nine is going to be a
- 20:16Speaker 1: big blank game week and I might not want to
- 20:18Speaker 1: use a free hit in twenty nine. But yeah, do
- 20:21Speaker 1: follow the Thursday pod guys for more on chip strategy
- 20:24Speaker 1: throughout the season. But of course this podcast, every single
- 20:27Speaker 1: episode now will allude to chip strategy moving forward, which
- 20:30Speaker 1: is going to be so exciting. It really is the
- 20:32Speaker 1: time of the season. Refpl managers have a lot of
- 20:34Speaker 1: fun around the chips. If you're looking for rank gains,
- 20:36Speaker 1: you can absolutely get them around the chips. We should
- 20:39Speaker 1: just touch on that dcl injury shouldn't be pros because
- 20:41Speaker 1: he was being eyed up by a few managers in
- 20:44Speaker 1: terms of Everton players for the double At the moment,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I'm going into the double game week with Mikkelenko. I'm
- 20:48Speaker 1: probably only Mikalenko, but were you looking at other Everton players?
- 20:52Speaker 3: So I was curious about dcl as well. Now we've
- 20:55Speaker 3: all been at least I have been burnt by dcl
- 20:58Speaker 3: in the past, got him for like six weeks, didn't
- 21:00Speaker 3: and then when he scored, I was curious, And then
- 21:02Speaker 3: of course when he's injured, then there's a question do
- 21:05Speaker 3: you want to go for someone else? So I don't
- 21:07Speaker 3: like better the replacement because Everton are in the transfer
- 21:10Speaker 3: market for another striker and you just never know. He
- 21:12Speaker 3: may not even play the second game. He definitely may
- 21:14Speaker 3: not be playing the game we twenty nine blank when
- 21:16Speaker 3: you want him to play, and then you're thinking, then
- 21:19Speaker 3: you have in die do you want him? He took
- 21:21Speaker 3: a pen which was nice, but he had zero pen
- 21:23Speaker 3: box touches apart from that, so literally the penalty was
- 21:26Speaker 3: the only touch in the box that he had.
- 21:28Speaker 2: That's not very inspiring.
- 21:30Speaker 3: And so yes, they have Lester at home, which has
- 21:32Speaker 3: the upside, but I'm not feeling it in terms of
- 21:36Speaker 3: Everton attackers.
- 21:37Speaker 1: No, I'm not. I feel like there are transfer outweit's
- 21:39Speaker 1: happened as well. I think if you're buying Everton players,
- 21:41Speaker 1: you need to be able to hide them on your
- 21:43Speaker 1: bench moving forward or sell them, and to sell them
- 21:46Speaker 1: you're going to need lots of free transfers. So it's
- 21:48Speaker 1: not just bringing in an Everton player. Are you using
- 21:50Speaker 1: a transfer there? But you're also using probably a transfer
- 21:52Speaker 1: to sell them. Is it worth it just to have
- 21:54Speaker 1: a double game week of Leicester in Liverpool for a
- 21:56Speaker 1: team doesn't score many goals, I'm not so sure it is.
- 21:59Speaker 1: But sheets, I mean, very possible. They get a clean
- 22:02Speaker 1: sheet against Leicester sheet against Liverpool is obviously very unlikely.
- 22:06Speaker 1: But you could back a Pickford for save points in
- 22:08Speaker 1: there too, can't you.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Yeah, And something very interesting that Moyes said at the
- 22:12Speaker 3: end of the game. He actually gave a shout out
- 22:14Speaker 3: to Seandich and he said, look, I've taken over this
- 22:16Speaker 3: team that had some work to be done, but this,
- 22:20Speaker 3: you know, the discipline, the defensive shape was already coached
- 22:24Speaker 3: in really really well. Of course you'd expect that with
- 22:26Speaker 3: Shon Dish, so Moyes was already saying that, Look, I'm
- 22:28Speaker 3: very happy with how this team is setting up defensively,
- 22:31Speaker 3: which you know, we know Moyes for.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Over the years.
- 22:33Speaker 3: He's also a little bit of defense first manager. So
- 22:35Speaker 3: actually getting one of their defenders, two of their defenders,
- 22:39Speaker 3: getting a Pickford, all of that makes a lot more
- 22:41Speaker 3: sense than going for the attacker, at least to me.
- 22:42Speaker 3: But it's all structure dependent, team dependent.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Yeah, when you have a manager following another manager that
- 22:47Speaker 1: have similar principles, it makes complete sense. It was smart
- 22:50Speaker 1: from Everton by going moys because they knew this was
- 22:52Speaker 1: a team that had been coached and was set up
- 22:54Speaker 1: to be defense first, which is what Moyes's main philosophy
- 22:57Speaker 1: is aligned to as well. So yeah, good match up
- 22:59Speaker 1: there and not surprised to see Everton doing well. I
- 23:01Speaker 1: think they'll continue to. I don't think I can see
- 23:03Speaker 1: an upset though against Liverpool. If they'd score a or
- 23:06Speaker 1: if they manage to get a drawer against Liverpool in
- 23:08Speaker 1: the last Merseyside derby at Goodison, no, that would be huge.
- 23:11Speaker 1: And again if you're on the assistant manager Chip, it's
- 23:13Speaker 1: not three for a draw, it's eight for a draw
- 23:15Speaker 1: for Moise against Liverpool because of the table bonus.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Do you know how much Moyer's got this this week
- 23:21Speaker 3: as if you had played the assistant manager Chip this
- 23:23Speaker 3: week on.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Him o'h go on it with nineteen point clean sheet,
- 23:28Speaker 1: the goal and then the sixteenth for the win and.
- 23:30Speaker 2: The table bonus.
- 23:31Speaker 3: I mean absolutely huge and that's the power of the
- 23:33Speaker 3: assistant manager ship. Now those are difficult to con like
- 23:36Speaker 3: before the game, would you have said that Everton will
- 23:38Speaker 3: be brighton one nill You wouldn't have. But that's basically
- 23:40Speaker 3: where assistant manager Chip has the ability to transform your
- 23:44Speaker 3: season if you get it right or if you get
- 23:45Speaker 3: a little bit lucky.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I do think there'll be a fairview that
- 23:49Speaker 1: the punt on Moisey this game week I might be
- 23:51Speaker 1: one of them. I'm genuinely fifty to fifty on it.
- 23:54Speaker 1: The other time to maybe use that chip for me
- 23:56Speaker 1: will be towards the end of the season, the thirty
- 23:58Speaker 1: six double, which we know we'll get. Should we talk
- 24:00Speaker 1: Patison Brentford?
- 24:01Speaker 2: I just went to touch on jau Pedro as well.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Do you want Jean Pedro? How with you?
- 24:07Speaker 1: It's been frustrating, but you have to manage expectations when
- 24:11Speaker 1: you're looking at a five point six million forward. He's
- 24:13Speaker 1: not going to be a one in He shouldn't be
- 24:14Speaker 1: a one in two man, but at the moment he's
- 24:17Speaker 1: not even a one in three man, so it's a
- 24:18Speaker 1: little bit of a problem. All the ingredients are there.
- 24:21Speaker 1: We spoke about Kunya and Soaka jau Pedro club's best player,
- 24:26Speaker 1: ninety minute man, penalties, some of the set pieces like,
- 24:30Speaker 1: he has all the ingredients and the shot volume's kind
- 24:33Speaker 1: of there too, and it's a well functioning attack. A
- 24:36Speaker 1: lot of the time I think I'm keeping the faith.
- 24:38Speaker 1: I'm just backing the fact that he aligns to all
- 24:41Speaker 1: of those things I've just mentioned and he'll come good.
- 24:43Speaker 1: But it's been really frustrating.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm in a similar broad to where I think
- 24:47Speaker 3: he did have three shots in this game, actually more
- 24:49Speaker 3: than anybody else. So it's there, pens minutes. All of
- 24:53Speaker 3: this is fine. It's just Brighton just don't know how
- 24:56Speaker 3: to basically attack low blocks, so everything really able to
- 24:59Speaker 3: keep them out. So I'm not very bullish against Nottingham Forest.
- 25:02Speaker 3: But actually after Nottingham Forest home to Chelsea, I love
- 25:04Speaker 3: that fixture away to Southampton, really like that fixture home
- 25:07Speaker 3: to Bournemouth.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Like it.
- 25:09Speaker 3: So I think the fixtures coming up, he's not a
- 25:12Speaker 3: bad choice. I get people are getting frustrated, but I
- 25:14Speaker 3: see people doing jau Pedro to Inde. It's fine, like
- 25:17Speaker 3: he's okay this week, but after this week I wont
- 25:19Speaker 3: Jaro Pedro instead of Inde. So it's just something to
- 25:22Speaker 3: talk about it, and I thought it was worth touching
- 25:24Speaker 3: on for this game.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right to highlight some of those low block
- 25:27Speaker 1: fixtures as well, like jau Pedro has scored eight points
- 25:30Speaker 1: versus Man United this season eight points versus Arsenal eleven
- 25:33Speaker 1: versus man City twelve versus Bournemouth. He likes playing good
- 25:37Speaker 1: teams that play possession football, front for football, and he's
- 25:40Speaker 1: got a couple of those fixtures coming up as you say,
- 25:42Speaker 1: Chelsea and Southampton, and two good fixtures for him. So yeah,
- 25:45Speaker 1: I'm keeping the faith and we do have to manage
- 25:47Speaker 1: expectations because of that price point. I know there's a
- 25:50Speaker 1: player out there we don't have praz and both you
- 25:52Speaker 1: and I love him and probably want to buy him
- 25:54Speaker 1: at the nearest opportunity, and that is in Burmo. And
- 25:57Speaker 1: do you own him Burmo?
- 25:58Speaker 2: I do not own him.
- 26:00Speaker 3: And okay, it's a very very good chance that I
- 26:03Speaker 3: will be owning in Boomo by the deadline.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Oh okay, So you're looking at entry. See, most transfers
- 26:08Speaker 1: this week are going to be on Liverpool and Everton
- 26:10Speaker 1: players only. But for you, you're like, no, this fixture
- 26:13Speaker 1: is brilliant, it's good enough. The entry point is great
- 26:15Speaker 1: for twenty four to be buying in Burmo now exactly.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Look, I think it's a little bit of a difficult one.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Like people who can get to him without sacrificing somebody.
- 26:25Speaker 2: But the midfield's midfield is.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Such prime real estate as usual that you know, if
- 26:29Speaker 3: you have a Salah, you have a Palmer, you want
- 26:31Speaker 3: to get a bone with midfielder. Given the form that
- 26:33Speaker 3: they're in, you want to get in Boomo. You know
- 26:36Speaker 3: a crystal palace midfielder is doing well. If you're talking
- 26:38Speaker 3: about an Essa, you know you have a Gordon. There's
- 26:41Speaker 3: just so many good picks that I might be tempted
- 26:44Speaker 3: to sell at Gordon this week and get in Boomo
- 26:46Speaker 3: because look, he showed in this game perfectly why he's
- 26:49Speaker 3: the he's the great FBO pick and why everybody raves
- 26:53Speaker 3: about him. Gets a couple of chances even though he
- 26:55Speaker 3: misses them, gets a penalty, walks away with a seven pointer.
- 26:58Speaker 3: He was just very close to who are two bonus
- 27:01Speaker 3: as well? Yeah, I just feel with their fixture run
- 27:04Speaker 3: with a confirmed fiction in Game Big twenty nine, I
- 27:07Speaker 3: think it's a great entry point for Boom.
- 27:08Speaker 1: At times this season he's felt like the best player,
- 27:10Speaker 1: best value player in the game, isn't he? He ranks
- 27:13Speaker 1: so highly in terms of total points. He started the
- 27:16Speaker 1: season at seven million, like he's seven point eight now.
- 27:19Speaker 1: But that's phenomenal value, isn't it Like and Brentford that again,
- 27:22Speaker 1: they're a team that always produced big, high quality chances.
- 27:26Speaker 1: That's so good at that, and unlike say Brighton that
- 27:29Speaker 1: might produce a lot of chances, but a lot of
- 27:30Speaker 1: small chances. You know, you come away from every Brentford
- 27:33Speaker 1: game to say and Burmo's had a big chance and
- 27:35Speaker 1: it just happens. They find ways of creating big chances
- 27:38Speaker 1: and he's the best beneficiary.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:39Speaker 3: And I don't know if you saw the end of
- 27:42Speaker 3: those game. End of the game as a non honer
- 27:44Speaker 3: watching in Boomore playing the ninety third minute, and they're
- 27:47Speaker 3: basically you know, they they loft the ball upfield and
- 27:51Speaker 3: in Bomo is running. He's really fast and he gets
- 27:54Speaker 3: at the end of those chances. His second return usually
- 27:56Speaker 3: comes in those games in the ninety fifth minute where
- 27:59Speaker 3: he's throw on good because he gets the minute. So, look,
- 28:01Speaker 3: I think is the essential this week? Maybe not, you
- 28:04Speaker 3: don't have to get you know, but it depends what
- 28:07Speaker 3: to believe about Spurs and how open that game will be.
- 28:09Speaker 3: I think it'll be very open, and I think it's
- 28:11Speaker 3: a great entry point to get them Borre.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Yeah, and after Spurs it's west Ham, but then Leicester
- 28:16Speaker 1: like that, and he's certainly a player that can bully
- 28:18Speaker 1: weaker opposition in Burmo, so yeah, all eyes on him,
- 28:22Speaker 1: I'm sure, and that even outside of a Burmo, I
- 28:24Speaker 1: think this is still a legit option as well if
- 28:26Speaker 1: it's suitsure team structure and Burmo is the better pick.
- 28:28Speaker 1: But this has still been very good this season. Or
- 28:30Speaker 1: do we make a palace praz because I don't think
- 28:32Speaker 1: many expected Brentford to win it. Sell us part, that's
- 28:34Speaker 1: a tough place to go and win, and many of
- 28:37Speaker 1: us have had palace players. Matteta has been popular, Esa
- 28:40Speaker 1: has been popular, Sara has been popular, and I own
- 28:43Speaker 1: Mina's who got the assist at the end but then
- 28:45Speaker 1: conceded two goals. Not ideal, but he's been brilliant too.
- 28:48Speaker 3: I think Muna's is for me a Greade third choice
- 28:52Speaker 3: as a defender. He's got a couple of clean sheets,
- 28:54Speaker 3: so I did expect a You know, it was not
- 28:57Speaker 3: the most exciting game, to be honest watching it. Yes,
- 29:00Speaker 3: Brentford were efficient, like you mentioned they always are with
- 29:03Speaker 3: their goals, but it was just, you know, I think
- 29:05Speaker 3: Pallas is still a decent defense even though they've lost Challoba.
- 29:09Speaker 3: I think they've They've been quite decent. Richards has come
- 29:11Speaker 3: in and done well. So Muna's with his goal threat,
- 29:14Speaker 3: with his assist threat, I think he's a fantastic pick.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I do worry about the midfielders. Now I have Sar
- 29:20Speaker 3: and he's got me one assist but not much else.
- 29:23Speaker 3: When I watch the games, I feel like Esa has
- 29:25Speaker 3: just taken over the chrans creation and Mateta has just
- 29:28Speaker 3: taken over the goal scoring. So it feels like Sara
- 29:31Speaker 3: is the third wheel where you know he's there. He
- 29:34Speaker 3: gets a couple of shots, and what he's also lost
- 29:37Speaker 3: is the fact that he was playing ninety minutes. Now
- 29:39Speaker 3: he's getting taken off for in Ktya. So I don't
- 29:42Speaker 3: like all those things. But from my perspective, I think
- 29:44Speaker 3: it's an easy move to a Bonnemouth midfielder. I may
- 29:47Speaker 3: not have the transfer this week because Bournemouth played Liverpool,
- 29:50Speaker 3: but next week when Boonnemouth played Lester, I'm there.
- 29:53Speaker 2: That's what I'll do.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so many are looking at Bonne with
- 29:57Speaker 1: midfielder in twenty five and Sara's a perfectly good sell.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I think you're right about the ninety minutes he had
- 30:01Speaker 1: six on the bounce before the last two where he's
- 30:04Speaker 1: had a sixty seven and a seventy one, and it
- 30:06Speaker 1: does feel like if he keeps performing badly, he could
- 30:08Speaker 1: even be out the eleven. He's far from from guaranteed
- 30:10Speaker 1: a start. And then you look at Bournemouth midfielders and
- 30:13Speaker 1: there are three legit good options. I think we've got
- 30:16Speaker 1: to try and rank them praz I mean Cliver at
- 30:18Speaker 1: five point seven, so Menu at five point six, and
- 30:21Speaker 1: then Atara at five point zero playing up front and
- 30:24Speaker 1: again playing ninety minutes because of their injuries and making
- 30:26Speaker 1: the most of it, like twenty one points Atara had
- 30:29Speaker 1: against Forest. How do we rate these midfielders Because the
- 30:32Speaker 1: fixtures are there to buy. Maybe not this week, but
- 30:34Speaker 1: in game week twenty five it's actually Southampton they play,
- 30:37Speaker 1: so the entry point is perfect. So Southampton, then Wolves,
- 30:40Speaker 1: then Brighton, then Spurs, Brentford, Ipswich west Ham. The run continues.
- 30:44Speaker 1: It is a brilliant run for Bournemouth from game week
- 30:47Speaker 1: twenty five. We're all going to want a Bournemouth mid
- 30:49Speaker 1: but which one.
- 30:50Speaker 3: It's a little bit of a I'm I'm going to
- 30:53Speaker 3: sit on the fence thread now and say I think
- 30:55Speaker 3: we should let them finish the transfer window because they
- 30:58Speaker 3: are in the market for a striker. It could be
- 31:01Speaker 3: a loan deal, could be anyone, or could be no one.
- 31:04Speaker 3: If it is no one, then I like Otara the most.
- 31:07Speaker 3: He's playing out of position. He's the cheapest. If they
- 31:09Speaker 3: sign someone and it's a striker, then I like Semineu
- 31:16Speaker 3: again because he was still getting the minutes. Because so
- 31:18Speaker 3: then Otara gets out of the team because Taviniir is
- 31:21Speaker 3: also coming back from an injury. So I feel like
- 31:23Speaker 3: if Otara loses his place, who does he come on for.
- 31:26Speaker 3: He comes on for cliver So then Otara's out of
- 31:28Speaker 3: the picture. Clivet's minutes are reduced, so it's back to Semineu.
- 31:32Speaker 3: If they sign somebody who's not going to be first choice,
- 31:34Speaker 3: who's going to rotate with Otara, then cliver It becomes
- 31:36Speaker 3: the best choice because clive It will still get eighteen
- 31:38Speaker 3: ninety minutes. He's on penalties, he's starting to become more
- 31:41Speaker 3: talismanic in the team. So I'm going to sit on
- 31:44Speaker 3: the fence and say, just wait to see who they sign.
- 31:46Speaker 3: If they sign anybody, and then decide you're so right.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Too, and if they don't sign anyone then Cliver is
- 31:51Speaker 1: really high on my list of the three. And if
- 31:53Speaker 1: they do, he's he's down the pecking order because we
- 31:55Speaker 1: know from earlier in the season when everyone is fit
- 31:58Speaker 1: at Bournemouth, Cliver wasn't didn't start the season as absolutely
- 32:01Speaker 1: first choice, and when he was starting games, which was
- 32:03Speaker 1: more often than not, it was a lot of early subs.
- 32:06Speaker 1: But what I've seen from Clive in the last couple
- 32:08Speaker 1: of weeks, boy is just a player now with confidence,
- 32:10Speaker 1: playing with a real swagger. Like he had a goal
- 32:13Speaker 1: disallowed over the weekend but would have been goal of
- 32:15Speaker 1: the month. It was twinkle toes in the box neat
- 32:17Speaker 1: one to an amazing finish. He's playing with real consistency.
- 32:20Speaker 1: And Semeno, again we know from earlier in the season
- 32:22Speaker 1: he's the shot monster, he's the main man. He gets
- 32:25Speaker 1: ninety minutes. He's always a fun pick. Saw an interview
- 32:28Speaker 1: with Semeno recently. Re said, I've just been told by
- 32:30Speaker 1: my mates just to play like I was when I
- 32:31Speaker 1: was playing like cage football as a kid, and that's
- 32:34Speaker 1: what's changed the season. They were like, what's changed the season?
- 32:37Speaker 1: He said, Well, I'm playing like I am in the
- 32:38Speaker 1: cages and he really is just aggressive front foot, taking
- 32:42Speaker 1: players on, not afraid to dribble and use a trick.
- 32:46Speaker 1: So so fun to watch Bournemouth and Sameno and then
- 32:49Speaker 1: Atara up front like yeah, you love him out of position.
- 32:52Speaker 1: So Bournemouth are fun and five nil versus Forrest. No
- 32:56Speaker 1: one saw that coming.
- 32:57Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I'm actually a little bit gudged
- 33:00Speaker 3: that they're getting these great results against good teams because
- 33:03Speaker 3: they're shooting up to table because Iriola is the perfect
- 33:07Speaker 3: assistant manager because he does so well against big teams.
- 33:10Speaker 3: He's beaten Arsenal, he's beaten Man City's beaten Newcastle, he's
- 33:12Speaker 3: beaten Nottingham Forest. If he has only seventh or eighth
- 33:15Speaker 3: in the table, you just put your assistant manager chip
- 33:18Speaker 3: on him because you back him to beat pretty much
- 33:20Speaker 3: any team. Which also makes the game against Liverpool a
- 33:23Speaker 3: little bit exciting. But we already talked about that it's
- 33:26Speaker 3: going to be it's going to be a good game
- 33:28Speaker 3: and really looking forward to that as a neutral.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I know that loads of fun and what
- 33:32Speaker 1: a coach Ariola clearly is. The job he's done at
- 33:35Speaker 1: Bournemouth has been fantastic, with spending has been relatively low
- 33:38Speaker 1: as well. Man City Chelsea needs touching on. It was
- 33:42Speaker 1: the return again of Cayle Palmer, his boyhood club. There
- 33:46Speaker 1: was another Palmer blank and I'm seeing a lot of
- 33:47Speaker 1: managers getting a bit twitchy on Cole Palmer because he's
- 33:49Speaker 1: had two two pointers. Now we shouldn't forget before that
- 33:52Speaker 1: he had two ten pointers and I'm surprised there's talk
- 33:55Speaker 1: of selling Palmer. Chelsea have some great fixtures around the
- 33:57Speaker 1: corner and I think he's still an unbelievable le fpl set.
- 34:00Speaker 1: We should mention he plays Southampton in twenty seven and
- 34:03Speaker 1: Leicester in twenty eight, both at Stamford Bridge. But what
- 34:06Speaker 1: do you make of anyone looking to maybe offload Cole
- 34:09Speaker 1: Palmer and use him as a cash cow to maybe
- 34:12Speaker 1: accommodate Harland or someone else.
- 34:15Speaker 2: No chance, you know my answer.
- 34:16Speaker 3: I mean, come on, Palmer is the talisman in a
- 34:20Speaker 3: team that pretty much has no other viable pick. I
- 34:23Speaker 3: mean you could say maybe Jackson, but it's a team
- 34:26Speaker 3: that is about to play Southampton and Leicester at home
- 34:30Speaker 3: in gambe twenty seven and twenty eight. I just don't
- 34:32Speaker 3: think you have to do anything with Palmer, you just
- 34:34Speaker 3: leave him in until he's fit and he'll get you
- 34:37Speaker 3: the points. I think after Salah, he's probably the best
- 34:40Speaker 3: pick in the game, and I don't think there's any
- 34:41Speaker 3: doubt about it.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and he loves a ten point, as I mentioned
- 34:44Speaker 1: he got two in twenty and twenty one. He also
- 34:46Speaker 1: got a ten pointer in game with eighteen. Like he's
- 34:47Speaker 1: been sensational this season and in goals. In games where
- 34:51Speaker 1: he scores a goal, he almost guarantees the three bonus
- 34:53Speaker 1: points because all his underlying numbers around creativity are so
- 34:56Speaker 1: so good, and we know with bonus points you're competing
- 34:59Speaker 1: with your team. As you mentioned, teammates at Chelsea in
- 35:02Speaker 1: terms of FPL picks and underlying numbers haven't been brilliant
- 35:05Speaker 1: this season, so Palmer is a standalone there. What did
- 35:08Speaker 1: you make of mar Mooch, Because I really enjoyed his performance,
- 35:11Speaker 1: even as a Chelsea fan. I just thought mar Mooch, like,
- 35:14Speaker 1: you're definitely now one to watch at seven million.
- 35:16Speaker 3: You know what's appealing about him. He can't play in Europe,
- 35:20Speaker 3: so you might from an FPL point of view looking
- 35:22Speaker 3: at that and saying, okay, interesting, I can actually predict
- 35:24Speaker 3: some minutes here. If he does continue to do what
- 35:27Speaker 3: he was doing now, I also worry as a skeptical
- 35:31Speaker 3: FPL manager that some of the things that he was
- 35:33Speaker 3: doing were a little bit more flamboyant, a little bit
- 35:36Speaker 3: more on the flare side. How much will Pep actually
- 35:39Speaker 3: try to manage that and say, look, you know, we
- 35:41Speaker 3: have a system, we have to play in a certain way.
- 35:44Speaker 3: I'm very curious to see how he sets up. It's
- 35:47Speaker 3: not a team you need to jump on right now,
- 35:49Speaker 3: not that many people are on a city anyway, because
- 35:52Speaker 3: they're a way to Arsenal. Then they play Newcastle, then
- 35:54Speaker 3: they play Liverpool, okay, then they play Spurs, which is nice.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Then they play Forest. So I think you want them
- 36:00Speaker 3: for the next five weeks until game week twenty eight,
- 36:03Speaker 3: and then that's the time when they play bright In
- 36:05Speaker 3: at home in game week twenty nine. You decide who
- 36:08Speaker 3: you want, whether that's forwarded, whether that's Harland, whether that's Mamosh.
- 36:11Speaker 3: Because you know other players will blank. Palmer could blank,
- 36:14Speaker 3: Salah could blank that week, Esach could blank. So money
- 36:17Speaker 3: could be available if you were looking to dead end
- 36:19Speaker 3: your team. Dead End basically means you're looking to just
- 36:22Speaker 3: get your team to this blank and then you wildcoud
- 36:25Speaker 3: a little bit after that. So I am excited, but
- 36:28Speaker 3: I'm also just on wait and watch Moore.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Same with those fixtures. I think you have to
- 36:32Speaker 1: be the biggest thing for me was the fact he
- 36:34Speaker 1: started the game like Pep Guardiola eases in attacking players
- 36:38Speaker 1: to that team because it's such a unique style of
- 36:41Speaker 1: play for him to sign. And a couple of days
- 36:43Speaker 1: later off a couple of trading sessions be in the
- 36:45Speaker 1: eleven for a fixture against Chelsea just shows one how
- 36:49Speaker 1: much Pep Guardiola clearly wanted him and the assurances he
- 36:51Speaker 1: had given Marmous but two how desperate times were at
- 36:55Speaker 1: Man City. So yeah, really positive signs for his minutes
- 36:58Speaker 1: moving forward, but we need to see more. As you say,
- 37:00Speaker 1: shame that Man City aren't around a tenth in the
- 37:03Speaker 1: league because if they were again the assistant manager Chip
- 37:05Speaker 1: for those fixtures would be loads of fun to back
- 37:07Speaker 1: Pep for mid table. For the table bonus you wouldn't
- 37:10Speaker 1: think was possible, but it nearly was.
- 37:12Speaker 2: It nearly was.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Should we touch on Harland and Foden Praz Like I
- 37:17Speaker 1: think for me with these fixtures, you're just happy watching
- 37:20Speaker 1: them and not owning them for a little bit.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it feels like, especially with Forden, a misst train.
- 37:27Speaker 3: You know that the train has passed. I know you
- 37:30Speaker 3: had him for a couple of weeks, but I think
- 37:31Speaker 3: it was completely fine to sell at some point. There
- 37:34Speaker 3: were many midfield picks. We've talked about how midfield is crowded.
- 37:37Speaker 3: He is very expensive, the most expensive after you know,
- 37:40Speaker 3: compared to the others. When Saker's injured, de Brune is
- 37:43Speaker 3: not really an option, Son is less of an option,
- 37:45Speaker 3: so he does become like the third most expensive midfielder.
- 37:48Speaker 3: So I think it was fine not to go there.
- 37:51Speaker 3: But now you can see that the you know, Pep
- 37:53Speaker 3: has found a way to play a right back that
- 37:55Speaker 3: overlaps on the on the on the on the right
- 37:58Speaker 3: hand side and therefore house Ford him to come inside,
- 38:01Speaker 3: cut inside, and basically that's when you see the best
- 38:03Speaker 3: out of Fordham. So Pep, as usual as you'd expect,
- 38:06Speaker 3: has found a way to get ford And back into
- 38:07Speaker 3: the fold playing with de Bruyne armamuch, and I think
- 38:10Speaker 3: that's how it'll stick.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Good stuff. I'm glad you spoke about Poden. I'm trying
- 38:14Speaker 1: to avoid him. It still hurts me when I see
- 38:16Speaker 1: is fifteen, his nineteen and his seven and three back
- 38:19Speaker 1: to back game weeks of all of which I lost
- 38:21Speaker 1: out on by selling him. But I don't regret the decision.
- 38:23Speaker 1: To be fair, I hadn't seen enough from City or
- 38:25Speaker 1: Field Foden, But there we go. Let's talk about Magunited, Pras.
- 38:30Speaker 1: You must have watched that game that your team. It
- 38:31Speaker 1: felt like a Neil Neil board raw and actually I
- 38:34Speaker 1: look back and remember that Magunited did score late on
- 38:36Speaker 1: and it was a one Neil victory. I think it
- 38:38Speaker 1: was the lowest x G game in the Premier League
- 38:40Speaker 1: in a couple of years. But they ground grinding out
- 38:43Speaker 1: a win, clean sheet. You know United fair play.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, look, it was not a great game
- 38:48Speaker 3: for the neutral It was not a great game for
- 38:50Speaker 3: the fans either. Nothing much happened so you didn't miss anything.
- 38:54Speaker 3: But from a man United perspective, it was a more
- 38:56Speaker 3: solid performance. So Bruno played in the central midfield role
- 38:59Speaker 3: because you know we Manunited needed to create play. The
- 39:03Speaker 3: team has struggled to create out of the back and
- 39:06Speaker 3: you know we had runners Gernacho and Ahmad playing in
- 39:09Speaker 3: the tens. I don't think that's a long term thing.
- 39:11Speaker 3: It's more a case of if it was an away
- 39:12Speaker 3: game against Fulham and so you know, Bruno should be
- 39:16Speaker 3: back in the ten in the next game, I think.
- 39:18Speaker 3: And it was a good efficient performance. I don't think
- 39:21Speaker 3: there's much else to say there.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're right there. Shame for those Robinson
- 39:26Speaker 1: owners who are looking like they were going to get
- 39:28Speaker 1: a clean sheet late on and Robinson again had a
- 39:30Speaker 1: really good game. But I don't know if i'd be
- 39:32Speaker 1: selling him. The fixtures aren't great, but the attacking output
- 39:34Speaker 1: for Robinson is there, and I think he's honestly on
- 39:36Speaker 1: nine assists this season, like he's absolutely flying. You own
- 39:39Speaker 1: Robinson day.
- 39:40Speaker 3: I do not anymore, though, I've sold him for Mikolenko
- 39:43Speaker 3: because I just think, look, at some point you need
- 39:45Speaker 3: to think who do you want in your defense? So
- 39:47Speaker 3: Robinson is great, Hall is great, Muno's is great, Trent
- 39:50Speaker 3: is great, Gabrielle is great. You have to pick. Kircase
- 39:53Speaker 3: is great. So I just thought that I'm not going
- 39:55Speaker 3: to be playing Robinson much. He's now five point one million.
- 39:59Speaker 3: I just thought I can use that money somewhere else.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Yeah, fair play. We I always have to remember that like,
- 40:03Speaker 1: there's always more than five defenders you like, or three
- 40:07Speaker 1: forwards you like. It's just the game. You sometimes just
- 40:09Speaker 1: got to rank them and make those tough choices as
- 40:11Speaker 1: I made with Foden. Spurs were flat again. I think
- 40:14Speaker 1: there are a non event. But are they a team
- 40:16Speaker 1: we can targets? I mean, and Burmo entry point against
- 40:19Speaker 1: Spurs in twenty four is there for the taken, isn't it.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we talked about that.
- 40:23Speaker 3: I think with the defensive injuries, look, and has been
- 40:26Speaker 3: very unlucky with injuries, like losing Slanky who's been such
- 40:28Speaker 3: a big presser for him and the team. Look, ri
- 40:31Speaker 3: Chaalison has done all right, but from a defensive point
- 40:34Speaker 3: of view, he's lost a lot, you know, pretty much
- 40:36Speaker 3: his whole black back line, his keeper, and so I
- 40:40Speaker 3: just think, yeah, it's going to be an open game.
- 40:42Speaker 3: It could be anything. It could be three two to
- 40:43Speaker 3: either team. But we don't care if you're picking an attacker.
- 40:46Speaker 3: I don't care if Brentford win or Spurs win. I
- 40:48Speaker 3: just want two goals in and Boom to be involved.
- 40:50Speaker 3: So I do think it's a good entry point for
- 40:52Speaker 3: Boomo and a Wissa or a Wissa I mean, whichever
- 40:55Speaker 3: one you like. So I just think, yeah, if you
- 40:58Speaker 3: get that Spurs fixture and the run that we've talked
- 41:00Speaker 3: about for Brentford the grid, if you have Spurs Pigs,
- 41:04Speaker 3: I think there's a there at cell as you know.
- 41:06Speaker 3: It was nice to have them for Leicester, but I
- 41:09Speaker 3: think that time has gone.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and we spoke about Bournemouth midfielders earlier, all around
- 41:13Speaker 1: that sort of five five and a half million price point.
- 41:16Speaker 1: We haven't spoken about Aston Villa West Ham game. But
- 41:18Speaker 1: Morgan Rodgers is the popular fifth midfielder in the game
- 41:23Speaker 1: this season. He's often He's in a lot of teams.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I think his ownership's around twenty three percent. The fixtures
- 41:29Speaker 1: aren't brilliant, but the next two are good. It's Wolves
- 41:31Speaker 1: in Ipswich and then it's a little bit of a
- 41:32Speaker 1: tough run. Do we think Rogers might become a cell
- 41:35Speaker 1: soon for many? I mean, he's been so good this
- 41:36Speaker 1: season and we have to manage our expectations with such
- 41:40Speaker 1: an enabler. But he's on seven yellow cards. Villa don't
- 41:43Speaker 1: score that many seventy one minutes against west Ham sho
- 41:46Speaker 1: we sometimes season early sub although he has played a
- 41:48Speaker 1: lot of nineteen minutes. But it's more just the case
- 41:50Speaker 1: of other five million four midfielders put in their hand
- 41:53Speaker 1: up those Bournemouth lads in particular. Do we think Rogers
- 41:56Speaker 1: will be a long term hold or are we happy offloading?
- 41:59Speaker 3: I think a very happy to offload him. So there's
- 42:00Speaker 3: a couple of factors here. Fact to number one is
- 42:03Speaker 3: obviously watch how they get on in the Champions League.
- 42:06Speaker 3: If they don't make the top eight, then they all
- 42:08Speaker 3: have playoff games as well. If they have playoff games,
- 42:11Speaker 3: those will basically sandwich the ipswitch game. So you know
- 42:14Speaker 3: that could mean reduce minutes for Watkins even Rogers, because
- 42:17Speaker 3: that's important, the playoff games, and so you know where
- 42:20Speaker 3: do you expect rotation bape switch. So that's something to
- 42:23Speaker 3: think about. And then basically long term fixtures after ipswitch
- 42:27Speaker 3: are not great. So I can see a lot of
- 42:29Speaker 3: people basically selling Rogers even before ipswitch if we are
- 42:33Speaker 3: not in the top eight of the Champions League group
- 42:35Speaker 3: and just saying, look, you know Bonemouth entry point is great,
- 42:38Speaker 3: they're playing Southampton, just go there. But I do agree
- 42:41Speaker 3: with you, people are impatient with these picks. We've talked
- 42:43Speaker 3: about Jean Pedro've talked about Rogers. These are five and
- 42:46Speaker 3: a half million picks that are priced for there for
- 42:49Speaker 3: a reason. If you get one return in three you
- 42:51Speaker 3: should be happy. If they form part of a rotation
- 42:53Speaker 3: where you can play them in the easier games bench
- 42:55Speaker 3: them in the other games, absolutely fine. So that's just
- 42:58Speaker 3: the way it is that people need to sort of
- 43:00Speaker 3: be a lot more patient with these Brice bckets.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're right there. And west Ham under
- 43:06Speaker 1: Potter a just one to monitor for me. Like we
- 43:09Speaker 1: spoke about managers going into a club with similar philosophies
- 43:12Speaker 1: off the previous manager, and we definitely got that with
- 43:14Speaker 1: Everton and Dyschen and Moys are probably quite similar. Lopotage
- 43:18Speaker 1: and Potter are not similar at all. And I think
- 43:20Speaker 1: we're seeing a west Ham team in transition. It's going
- 43:23Speaker 1: to take them a well, it's going to take them
- 43:24Speaker 1: a lot of training sessions because Potter's going to need time,
- 43:27Speaker 1: and maybe towards the end of the season we start
- 43:29Speaker 1: see huge improvements from west Ham, and I think we
- 43:31Speaker 1: probably do at some point. And there's always fpl interest
- 43:33Speaker 1: at west Ham because players like Jared Bowen when he's
- 43:36Speaker 1: fit going to really be popular. But for now, I
- 43:38Speaker 1: think we just wait and see with them.
- 43:41Speaker 2: We do.
- 43:41Speaker 3: We will wait and see, and this is why I
- 43:44Speaker 3: think it's important to be patient if you can with
- 43:47Speaker 3: your transfers. It is the big one. Up next, it's
- 43:49Speaker 3: the Double Game Week twenty four. But before that, like
- 43:52Speaker 3: we've mentioned, there is another week of European action. City, Liverpool,
- 43:56Speaker 3: Arsenal Villa all play their Champions League games. Everyone's playing
- 43:59Speaker 3: on Aday. It's going to be an exciting Wednesday night
- 44:01Speaker 3: when everyone plays at the same time. Then you have
- 44:04Speaker 3: on Thursday the Europa League games and the Conference League
- 44:07Speaker 3: games all happening at the same time, so that's going
- 44:09Speaker 3: to be exciting as well. So do wait for that
- 44:12Speaker 3: new information may merge. But it is the big one,
- 44:14Speaker 3: the Double Game week twenty four.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Yeah, and that Thursday POD is going to be awesome.
- 44:18Speaker 1: Make sure you don't miss it. With Jules, Kelly and
- 44:20Speaker 1: Sam because going into that double game, I'll be talking
- 44:23Speaker 1: about their chip strategies and what chip should be played,
- 44:26Speaker 1: and triple captaincy will be high on the agenda, as
- 44:28Speaker 1: will that system manager ship.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Yes, looking forward to that.
- 44:31Speaker 3: And if you haven't already joined the FPL POD Mini League,
- 44:34Speaker 3: the code is Q seven y C or zero.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Good to talk to you, Johanny.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff. Well we'll look forward to chatting again
- 44:43Speaker 1: and see you all guys. Good luck for those green
- 44:44Speaker 1: arrows in the double.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Good luck,
