- Daniel: Clint, what if I was to tell you that ahead Clint: Yep. Okay. Daniel: of this Old Miss Georgia matchup, but one of many fantastic matchups this weekend at college football, Clint: Stacked. Daniel: two teams currently in the field of the college football playoff. I'm gonna ask Clint: Sure. Daniel: you in a minute if both these teams are gonna be in the field after the season is over. See what you think about that. what if I told you that there was a decided quarterback advantage? For one of these teams, would that seem re like a reasonable take? Or would you say these quarterbacks are are neck and neck? Clint: Well, i if you said there's a decided advantage, a lot of people may assume they know what quarterback you're talking about instantaneously. Daniel: so they would make an ass out of you and me, is what you're saying. I see. Yeah. Clint: That's what they would do, Daniel. They would be completely buffoonery. it would be better to say this quarterback this quarterback comparison is more neck and neck. Daniel: It is more neck and neck. and by neck and neck I mean Trinidad Chambliss has thrown for more yards. Clint: Cool. Daniel: Then Gunner's time. Clint: Great. Daniel: Do you want to what else do you want to talk about? Because anything else we talk about, these two quarterbacks are either even or gunner is clearly ahead. So if that's your Clint: Do you see Daniel: if that's your criteria, what about yards per attempt? Gunner way ahead. What about yards per completion? Gunner way Clint: Gunner. Gunner. Daniel: ahead. What about efficiency? Completion percentage, gunner way ahead. Touchdowns, right about even. What about rushing yards? Clint: here we go. Daniel: they're right about even and Gunner is slightly ahead. What about yards per carry rushing the football? Clint: Interesting. Interesting. Daniel: Gunner's ahead in that as well. So he's a better passer, he's a better runner, he's more efficient. Clint: Yep. Yep. Yep. Daniel: He did we get to turnovers yet? Clint: not yet, but go ahead, tell the people. Daniel: No, we didn't get to turnovers yet. What if I told you that Gunnar has less than half of the turnovers that Trinidad Chambliss has on the season and so much better at protecting the football. The one thing Trinidad Chambliss does that Gunnar Stockton doesn't do is throw the ball a lot. Clint: That's the only difference, people. Daniel: Because his team can't run it. Clint: That's hu and what if I was to tell you that the best opportunity to run the football is sidelined for many weeks with his shoulder not lodged. Daniel: Yep. Yeah. This is a big reason why his team can't run it because tr Kewan Lacey, whose face was earlier broadcast on a dome in Las Vegas, think about the money wasted. Think can you can we st can we let's just land here for a minute. By the way, so glad that you're here. If you're listening to this, Clint and I put out a free newsletter every week. It's called Between the Clint: Yes, every week. Daniel: Banter. It's you sh make sure you subscribe. It's in the description of this episode. We would love to have you. Old Miss spent their actual dollars to hype up. Clint: On retaining their coach? Daniel: No. No, they let the best coach to coach there ever walk. They let him Clint: Okay. Interesting. Wild. Daniel: walk. To be clear, the best coach to ever coach at Old Miss has never competed in a college football playoff game, has never won anything at any level. in his career. He's the best coach to ever coach there. They let him walk. They didn't spend their money on that. They spent their money advertising for a Heisman campaign in Las Vegas for a guy that's played three games so far this year. Clint: What about return on investment? Daniel: It's low. The return the ROI is very low on this particular venture that Ole Miss has gone on. So yeah, Georgia knows a thing or two about their number one running back being sidelined. they played Alabama without Nate Frazier. they couldn't run the ball in that game, as I recall, Clinton. Is that correct? Wait. Clint: No. No, wait, hold on a second, Daniel. What if I was to tell you that they had more people and explosiveness still and the leader in just here again, talk about explosiveness in yards per carry in the SEC, just like yards per attempt in the SEC resides Daniel: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Clint: in Georgia. Daniel: so the second best running back on Georgia's team leads the SEC in yards per carry. That's what you're saying? Clint: That's what I'm trying to say to you. Daniel: Okay, but Kewan Lacey's out, and we feel really sad for you, Ole Miss. Sorry you don't have any other players. Ole Miss can't run the ball, so Trinidad throws it all the time. They just Clint: No. Yeah. Daniel: nickel and d they just dink and dunk. They throw these little nonsense, little screen passes. That's all they've been able to do all year. Clint: Sit. Daniel: And Trinidad has rewarded them by throwing for a bunch of yards and turning it over a bunch of times. And in some cases, like the Texas game, single handedly costing his team the game. Like Clint: Literally. Daniel: single handedly costing his team the game. He played great in the second half of that game and Clint: You did? Daniel: almost led them to a comeback out of the grave he had already previously dug. So I know Gunnar's Clint: Mm. Not like that, Pete. Daniel: coming off his worst two games as a George Bull. Clint: Yes. Daniel: You and I have said this this week. Gunner was concussed in the first one of those games and I will hear I will not I we we won't even be talking about any other options. Clint: Hundred per cent. Kirby said I looked him in the eye. I I know you did, Kirby. Daniel: Pidge. Clint: What else did you see when you looked into his eyes? Cause you didn't tell me what you saw. Daniel: What did you see? He was concussed in one of those games and he was scared out of his mind. He was tentative, he was nervous. Georgia needs Gunnar Stockton to get back some swagger, to get back some Clint: Rip it. Daniel: some gunslinger mindset. Because unlike Trent Ed Chambliss, when cur when Gunnar Stockton plays that let it let it rip type of role, he does not turn the ball over. He completes big explosive plays down the field. That's what this Georgia offense needs. Trinidad Channelist, meanwhile, has not been able to hit big explosive plays because Old Mess lost all their skill players. Except Kewan Lacey, who they campaigned to win the Heisman. And when he does throw the ball a lot, which he does, he turns it over a bunch. George got a better quarterback than Ole Miss. Period. Clint: And again, you can tell me. Well, based on talent and and a if that's the case, Oklahoma State probably has a better viable option as best quarterback in college football than anybody else. He's projected to go top five. Okay? Like I Daniel: I by the way, if you are an NFL team and you draft Drew Mestamaker with a top five pick, I will Clint: Ts and peace. Daniel: not apologize for mercilessly mocking you for the rest of my life. It's it should be an immediately firable offense. Clint: There are three. I'm not we that's a whole nother episode. Daniel: It's a whole nother episode, sorry. And t sorry to derail us. Go on. Clint: it's okay. That's what we're here for. We're here for the banter. Look, I this Georgia team, it if you think Trinidad Chambliss is light years ahead of Gunnar Stockton, it it's like Daniel: Uh-huh, okay. You're basing that off of his like last year, but go on. Clint: O okay, but but even that, even that, you you can't say definitively. You might be able to say you like him better because he's on your team, and that's fine if you want to say that. But if you're going you should. Daniel: We are all fans here. You should be a fan. If you're an Ole Miss fan and you're here, you should like your team more than our team. That's what college football's about. Clint: But if you aren't willing to exercise actual rationality and say that this offense for Ole Miss is worse than last year because they lost a creative play caller, two of them, they lost skill positions, and Trinidad Chambliss has been lifting everything in the world for them. Which is all very true. Can he be the the the one piece on the board and chest that takes out all the other pieces? He could be. I I'm not saying he doesn't have that in his arsenal. He does. He's very gifted. But if you think that that poor old Georgia doesn't have the offense of firepower to go toe to toe with him, you didn't watch last Daniel: Oops. Clint: year in Athens, and you don't know this year's team that is the most explosive offense in the SEC. And I I will hear no other. I slipped up this week and I started talking to Bobo haters, and that's on me. I apologize. It's on it's my mistake. It is. Daniel: That's on you. That's on you. Hey, own your mistakes and move on from them. That's that's what we ask you. Yeah. Clint: I'm moving on because I will no longer make apologies. I will no longer engage with you if you like the most explosive offense in the SEC. And this game is going to is just show it. Daniel, you said you were gonna ask me the question of playoff. Daniel: Yeah. Yeah. It's 'cause right now listen, I'll tell you this. You and I went on record and we said Ole Miss was gonna go eight and four this regular season. And Clint: We didn't. Daniel: they are not. Ole Miss is not gonna lose after this game. They play Oklahoma next week, and then it's Belmont and Mississippi State with no Camario Taylor. The worst case scenario for Ole Miss is nine and three. And that would be nine Clint: Just Daniel: and three. Clint: just really quick. Just I our buckle's gone. Daniel: He's go it's not. It's not happening. Stop. Moving on. They're going nine and three. We were wrong about that. Clint: We were. Daniel: A nine and three old missed team with a win over LSU. Okay? Yes? Let me paint you a picture. LSU smokes Alabama this weekend. Clint: Okay. Daniel: Ole Miss loses to Georgia. Close game, Clint: Yep. Daniel: not fifty to nothing. Right? They don't get embarrassed. They don't have another Florida type performance where they give up a fifty spot to Georgia. Is there a scenario where this Ole Miss team still makes it into the playoff at nine and three? Or is the season over for Ole Miss when they lose to Georgia on Saturday? Clint: When they lose to Georgia on Saturday, the season's over. Here's why. Okay. Look at how the rankings have already come out. The committee has said for the first time ever. Okay. Well, they don't know what we're doing. But they did Daniel: Maybe he said, We don't know what the heck we're doing. We're making stuff up. We're making stuff up. Clint: they did say we have favorites and quality wins matter to us. Daniel: Yeah. And there's a pod system of some kind. Clint: And Old Miss is outside their favorites and Daniel: Yeah. Clint: outside of quality wins. They could have done that against Texas. They lost. Okay? They could have done that against us. They're going to lose. They could have done that against Florida, which is now looking worse and worse of a loss. Daniel: Yeah. You want sorry, were we listing teams that might lose to Oklahoma this year? Sorry, I thought we were Tremel Clint: guys, it Daniel: Jones is not an answer to any question Clint: No. Daniel: that you want to be asking. Do you Clint: Mm. Daniel: understand if your question is answered Tremel Jones, you're asking the wrong questions. That's that's all. Clint: Old Miss having no other games after Georgia is the reason they're going to be outside the playoff. You needed Camario Daniel: Is a bad thing for them. Yeah, it's a bad thing for them. I Clint: Taylor to still be there and make an exciting game. Daniel: A nine and three SEC team is getting in the playoffs, maybe two. Clint: Texas and Alabama. Daniel: Yeah, but but they might be called Texas and Alabama, both one of which beat you, and one of which there's no way the committee is gonna drop below you. No chance at this point. So yeah, I do think this is well, do you get to play two Super Bowls? It's hard because I was gonna Clint: just the one. Daniel: say this is the Super Bowl for Ole Miss, but they already played the Clint: They've already done that. Daniel: Super Bowl. So I guess they'll just lose and then they'll be done and watch LSU make the playoff. Clint: Unless you just make it the playoff. Daniel: That'll probably feel good. That'll probably feel good, won't it? When Lane Kivin coaches in a playoff game, that'll probably Clint: What? Daniel: feel good. For the first time in his career. Clint: I'm sorry. It's Daniel: That'll probably be good. Clint: PeePa. Daniel: I l to be totally honest with you, Ole Miss fans, if you're still here, if Georgia gets the SEC championship game against LSU, I will obviously be cheering for Georgia to win. I you're my Georgia van, I'm a Georgia homer, I cheer for them to win all the time. But if they happen to lose that game, Lane Kiffin winning the first thing he's ever won in his career the year after you shoot him out of town for Pete Golding would be a little consolation for me. It would be a little bit nice. Clint: Well Miss if if Daniel: You understand? Clint: it hasn't been abundantly clear to you, you're the worst fan base in the SEC and it's not even close anymore. Daniel: It's only because you're completely and totally delusional. Clint: That's why. That's why. Daniel: It has nothing to do with your hygiene, for example. It has nothing to do with that. There are other fan bases. Yeah. Clint: Florida and Tennessee fan is obnoxious. No, nope, that's I Tennessee, Florida. Worse hygiene, more obnoxious, not as delusional as you are, which is crazy. Daniel: You don't understand reality. That's your problem. He's Clint. I am Daniel. We'll be back on Saturday night after the game. Make sure that you're here. It's favorite time for us to record each and every week. We'll be right Clint: Yes, it is. Daniel: back here on Saturday night after the game. Make sure you tune in. Make sure you're subscribed. Make sure you're getting the newsletter, all of those things. Enjoy having you guys along for the ride. We'll see you guys next time. Clint: See ya.
