- 0:02Speaker 1: podcast Snoop Dogg's bio pic is on the way thirty eight.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Spash has a response to Jadakiss dropping tonight and albums
- 0:16Speaker 1: from the past few years that are still in my
- 0:20Speaker 1: heavy rotation. Some surprises and probably no surprises here, Let's
- 0:28Speaker 1: do it. Welcome to jimp Hop Now Podcast. To you
- 0:36Speaker 1: from the future. You know what you do your ass
- 0:39Speaker 1: out about bade so disrespect the legg hip hop is
- 0:46Speaker 1: here to stay. Let's get right into the fisiness and whatever. Y'all.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I am your host Vegas. This is hip Hop Now
- 0:53Speaker 1: podcast and podcast specifically designed to keep you caught up
- 0:58Speaker 1: on all things hip hop, music and culture that happened
- 1:01Speaker 1: throughout the week. Big shout out to those who have
- 1:03Speaker 1: been listening to the podcast for ten plus years. Celebrating
- 1:08Speaker 1: only way we know how. If you see if it's
- 1:10Speaker 1: on YouTube or you look at the thumb nail, you
- 1:12Speaker 1: see the background a little golden, a little bit you know,
- 1:15Speaker 1: kind of rang but also golden. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:18Speaker 1: To commemorate, we have merch exclusive merch for twenty twenty six.
- 1:26Speaker 1: This particular logo will go away at the end of
- 1:30Speaker 1: the year. So if you're interested, check out the link
- 1:33Speaker 1: in the description. If you're on YouTube, shout out to
- 1:35Speaker 1: you should be right there right should be right there
- 1:39Speaker 1: at the bottom of this video, if not on my
- 1:42Speaker 1: channel's homepage. We had a lot to do today, so
- 1:48Speaker 1: big shout out to Hot New hip Hop, Instagram and
- 1:53Speaker 1: a couple of places where I'm getting some of these
- 1:55Speaker 1: stories from. Let's get right to the business stuff. Snoop
- 2:00Speaker 1: Dogg has a biopic that's supposed to drop, I believe
- 2:07Speaker 1: next year. Let's see this is coming from hotnewhip Hop
- 2:11Speaker 1: dot com. Snoop Dogg's biopick has a release date. It
- 2:15Speaker 1: says this Snoop Dogg is getting his very own biopick,
- 2:18Speaker 1: and a new report suggests that the project will be
- 2:22Speaker 1: released in summer of twenty twenty seven. If you don't know,
- 2:27Speaker 1: that's next year. And that's kind of crazy that it's
- 2:31Speaker 1: that soon. Now, I'm not gonna lie for some reason,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I'm not that excited for this, and it's it doesn't have,
- 2:40Speaker 1: you know, like Snoop Dogg controversial stuff aside, there's a
- 2:46Speaker 1: part of me that should be excited because of the story. Right,
- 2:51Speaker 1: if you've been listening to Snoop since his debut, you
- 2:57Speaker 1: know there's a there should be a part of you
- 2:59Speaker 1: that wants to see that story. But the difference is
- 3:04Speaker 1: compared to Straight out of Compton and compared to Michael
- 3:09Speaker 1: Michael Jackson's documentary is when I found out who was directing,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I was like, this is gonna be good. And I
- 3:18Speaker 1: wasn't wrong, right f Gary Gray did Sloop should get him,
- 3:24Speaker 1: but he did Straight out of Compton. I mean again,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I always talk about it. I've talked about it on
- 3:30Speaker 1: this channel. When when I was in the theater and
- 3:34Speaker 1: not you know, the trailers was crazy. But when I
- 3:36Speaker 1: was in the theater to watch Straight out of Compton
- 3:39Speaker 1: and that joint opened with easy walking up to a
- 3:43Speaker 1: drug house and then it was a drug raid, and
- 3:46Speaker 1: I was like, we locked We locked in, Like this
- 3:51Speaker 1: is this is how you start. And the same thing
- 3:55Speaker 1: with Michael, you know, knowing, I think it's an korn
- 3:58Speaker 1: fu con Like you know, a notable director who's done
- 4:03Speaker 1: a bunch of dope films. You just know that the
- 4:07Speaker 1: story and the visuals and the authenticity is in good hands.
- 4:15Speaker 1: So I don't know what to expect. I'm interested, I
- 4:20Speaker 1: am not interested in Snoop Dogg's lies because Snoopy lying
- 4:26Speaker 1: or he forgets one of the other. A couple of
- 4:30Speaker 1: times he lied about the whole Tupac and NAS meeting
- 4:33Speaker 1: and how it went down. And I say that only
- 4:36Speaker 1: because he told two different stories at two different times.
- 4:40Speaker 1: One minute NAS was surrounded, next minute they were surrounded,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and then there were people you know, in parks. I
- 4:48Speaker 1: was like, Snoop wasn't even standing there with us, like so,
- 4:51Speaker 1: you know, you know what I mean. It's kind of
- 4:53Speaker 1: like I don't want him to embellish his story in
- 4:58Speaker 1: any way or miss represent something in hip hop history
- 5:02Speaker 1: that can be you know, you know how that go
- 5:05Speaker 1: movie drop. And then there's a ton of interviews with
- 5:08Speaker 1: guys who are around not saying they're telling the truth,
- 5:12Speaker 1: but sometimes it seems true, guys who are around saying, yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 1: it didn't really go down like that, blah blah blah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So we'll see, but there's not a lot of buzz
- 5:23Speaker 1: around it right now, especially for something that's supposed to
- 5:27Speaker 1: release next year, like Who's Who's Let me hold on,
- 5:32Speaker 1: let me go back man, and just read let's see.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I don't Yeah, I'm not seeing any information about this
- 5:45Speaker 1: according to Variety, and exact release date has been confirmed
- 5:48Speaker 1: for the movie what You can expect this to drop
- 5:52Speaker 1: on August sixth, twenty twenty seven. This will be a
- 5:56Speaker 1: partnership between Universal and death Row Pictures. If you don't know,
- 6:01Speaker 1: Snoop owns death Row Records now, so I guess he
- 6:05Speaker 1: started deaf Rol Pictures. I can tell you one person
- 6:09Speaker 1: who's definitely going to say what didn't happen? And as
- 6:13Speaker 1: dads just go to his ig and you'll see you'll
- 6:17Speaker 1: see what I mean. But I'm looking forward to a trailer,
- 6:22Speaker 1: you know. I like the fact that it'll come out
- 6:25Speaker 1: that soon, but I need to know, like who's playing Snoop,
- 6:30Speaker 1: you know, is it a good actor and will they
- 6:35Speaker 1: really really cover like a lot of it because Snoop
- 6:41Speaker 1: has a really crazy career when you look at it
- 6:43Speaker 1: in hindsight, given his celebrity now versus who he was
- 6:48Speaker 1: during his debut. I just want to see something faithful,
- 6:53Speaker 1: you know, to Snoop's life. So we'll see next thirty
- 7:00Speaker 1: eight Special has a response to Jadakiss, and I guess
- 7:06Speaker 1: the fans and bloggers and nerves or whatever he chooses
- 7:10Speaker 1: to call some of us call Fool's mate. The cover
- 7:16Speaker 1: is a chessboard and he's showing a move, and I
- 7:23Speaker 1: don't know what to think. I like thirty eight Special
- 7:26Speaker 1: as a rapper and MC and I think he's extra nice.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I kind of didn't like how he was going at
- 7:35Speaker 1: Jadakiss though, Like I said on my last episode, I
- 7:38Speaker 1: thought he should have gave Jadakiss some grace considering you know,
- 7:45Speaker 1: Jada just wasn't as hungry. So but then Jada responded
- 7:51Speaker 1: and it was one of the best Jadakiss verses I've
- 7:53Speaker 1: ever heard in years. And now, finally after saying everything
- 7:59Speaker 1: but right down, bars, we're going to get some bars. Now,
- 8:02Speaker 1: here's the thing. As of the recording of this video,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I haven't heard it yet. It is Friday, July twenty fourth,
- 8:12Speaker 1: eleven am when I'm recording this. Don't judge me when
- 8:15Speaker 1: you're dry. But on his ig it says, in quotes,
- 8:22Speaker 1: fools made my response midnight tonight. Now I feel like,
- 8:31Speaker 1: why wait, let's get Friday popping. Let's not spend the
- 8:35Speaker 1: whole day speculating. But you know, maybe that's what Saturdays
- 8:38Speaker 1: for now. I think the timing is kind of dope too,
- 8:43Speaker 1: because the response that Jadakidds had which is on a
- 8:47Speaker 1: crazy song featuring you know, Stove God Cooks on the hook.
- 8:51Speaker 1: In fact, Joe, it's called Aroma. They shot a video
- 8:55Speaker 1: for it, so I think specials trying to, you know,
- 8:59Speaker 1: so he don't get stomped out, like with people watching
- 9:03Speaker 1: that video and being like, that's it. We don't care
- 9:05Speaker 1: what that guy say. Some people don't. I think he's
- 9:08Speaker 1: trying to get ahead of it by having a response.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So I don't know when the video drops. So whether
- 9:15Speaker 1: the video drops today or I don't think it's dropped
- 9:18Speaker 1: already or tomorrow, the many people see those visuals and
- 9:23Speaker 1: the conversation sparks up again about Jada versus thirty eight Special.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Thirty eight Special will have a response. Now here's the
- 9:34Speaker 1: crazy thing. You don't think Kiss has a response. I
- 9:39Speaker 1: know what Bleek was trying to tell Jadakiss. You saw
- 9:42Speaker 1: Jadakis's face like, I think you're kind of talking crazy, right,
- 9:48Speaker 1: And Bleak was right, you know what I'm saying, like, Yo,
- 9:53Speaker 1: they gotta go at you because you like one of
- 9:56Speaker 1: the kings in this thing. But it depends on what
- 10:00Speaker 1: thirty eight Special says. I think Jim Jones is probably
- 10:04Speaker 1: going to get that work. I don't think it's just
- 10:06Speaker 1: going to be about Kiss. I think he's probably gonna
- 10:12Speaker 1: say less about Jada Kiss directly and more about the
- 10:19Speaker 1: guys who drop records dissing him and bo. It just
- 10:24Speaker 1: depends on what he says exactly, you know. So I
- 10:29Speaker 1: don't know. Will we'll see, We'll see how far it goes.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I wouldn't mind a little sparring. But this is the thing,
- 10:38Speaker 1: right It's not gonna make Jadakiss fans become thirty eight
- 10:44Speaker 1: special fans. You either like him already or you don't,
- 10:47Speaker 1: right special. The best he can do is stand his
- 10:54Speaker 1: ground and have people respect his bars against Kiss because
- 10:59Speaker 1: he'll never win. He's not gonna even if he wins,
- 11:03Speaker 1: He's not going to win. This is Jadakiss. This is
- 11:07Speaker 1: why you don't do stuff like this. But if Jadakis
- 11:10Speaker 1: has a response that's anywhere near better than his or
- 11:14Speaker 1: crazy or completely direct or whatever you want to say,
- 11:19Speaker 1: that's not going to be a good look. It won't
- 11:21Speaker 1: matter what spec says after that. There are people who
- 11:25Speaker 1: are already looking at him like he has the audacity
- 11:29Speaker 1: to speak on Jadakiss. So we'll see what I'll do.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Right here, on this channel is I'll probably like once
- 11:37Speaker 1: I get to listen to it, probably on Saturday, I'll
- 11:41Speaker 1: post like a real of my response. So subscribe to
- 11:45Speaker 1: the channel. Hit the notification bell so you're notified anytime
- 11:49Speaker 1: a new video is up. Because I don't really have
- 11:54Speaker 1: a dog in this fight, I'm I'm a Jadakiss fan.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I've become a thirty eight specih fan. I really wasn't
- 12:00Speaker 1: because I really didn't like like its voice. I'm just
- 12:04Speaker 1: saying that's how I felt. But I can't deny the
- 12:08Speaker 1: dude is dumb nice and I've gotten over that voice thing.
- 12:12Speaker 1: It's not the biggest thing in the world to me,
- 12:16Speaker 1: but I'm curious. I like it. I like that specially
- 12:21Speaker 1: stop going on podcasts and talking and moving the gold
- 12:24Speaker 1: post and he's just like, bars, here I go. Y'all
- 12:29Speaker 1: wanted this. Here I go, so we'll see and last listen. So,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I mean, y'all noticed, it's been a slow week this
- 12:44Speaker 1: week in hip hop. A number of releases that came
- 12:48Speaker 1: out that I'm you know, checking out, none of which
- 12:51Speaker 1: I feel like I want to review here. But during
- 12:54Speaker 1: the week, you know, when I was just doing my
- 12:57Speaker 1: usual you know, whether i'm driving somewhere or I'm in
- 12:59Speaker 1: the gym and I'm listening to music. I've realized that
- 13:03Speaker 1: they're just albums that have released in the past couple
- 13:07Speaker 1: of years that I just go to, you know what
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'm saying, quite often like they're new. Now. Granted, there's
- 13:16Speaker 1: some albums that have dropped as recent as last year
- 13:21Speaker 1: that are still in my rotation. And the only reason
- 13:24Speaker 1: why that's significant today in hip hop is because we
- 13:29Speaker 1: get so much hip hop music that people can love
- 13:32Speaker 1: an album that dropped last year, but they don't always
- 13:37Speaker 1: go back, or they don't talk about it and stuff
- 13:39Speaker 1: like that. So I just want to let you know
- 13:41Speaker 1: the albums that are kind of in heavy rotation, and
- 13:45Speaker 1: they're not brand new for me. So let's just start
- 13:47Speaker 1: from the top. It's five, all right, starting with and
- 13:51Speaker 1: again some of these, some of these, if not most
- 13:54Speaker 1: of these, are pretty predictable if you've been following me,
- 13:58Speaker 1: But clips like I sought them out. I don't listen
- 14:03Speaker 1: as much as I listened in twenty twenty five, but
- 14:05Speaker 1: I listened a lot still, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It's just something about how this album starts all the
- 14:13Speaker 1: way to the ended It's just a great album, bars
- 14:18Speaker 1: and moments and features, and you know, I never get
- 14:23Speaker 1: tired of it, to be honest. So next another one,
- 14:28Speaker 1: Mob Deep Infinite. During the whole mass appeal rollout, there
- 14:35Speaker 1: were a couple of albums I like, right. I like
- 14:38Speaker 1: Ray Kwan's Joint a lot. I liked Dayla Soul a lot.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I feel like, you know, day I Soul album was extraordinary,
- 14:47Speaker 1: but I kept going back to mom D. I just
- 14:51Speaker 1: couldn't believe what Havoc and Alchemists were able to accomplish
- 14:57Speaker 1: with vocals from Prodigy rest in p to make it
- 15:01Speaker 1: sound like he was a part of the creation of
- 15:05Speaker 1: this album, and he also sounds it's almost like he's
- 15:12Speaker 1: still here in a lot of ways, not just the
- 15:15Speaker 1: verses and bars, but things that he says right, And
- 15:19Speaker 1: I just feel like this doesn't feel like a posthumous album.
- 15:23Speaker 1: This just feels like another mob D, a new Mob
- 15:26Speaker 1: Deep album. That's how it feels. Beats a crazy features
- 15:30Speaker 1: like Nas does his thing on there, like having in
- 15:34Speaker 1: Pee sound like Having and Pee still, So it just
- 15:38Speaker 1: stays in my rotation, you know what I'm saying, And
- 15:42Speaker 1: it's hard to not keep listening, you know, because again,
- 15:45Speaker 1: I don't feel like I should just move on because
- 15:47Speaker 1: all that was last year and this new stuff, Like
- 15:49Speaker 1: I'm listening to new stuff I like, but that one
- 15:52Speaker 1: stays in rotation. Another one from last year, wilet everything
- 15:56Speaker 1: is a lot. This is my favorite. And I say
- 16:02Speaker 1: that as a person that doesn't usually like Wallet's albums,
- 16:07Speaker 1: and I'm talking about the albums. I like songs. I
- 16:10Speaker 1: like a lot of songs, and I really like his
- 16:12Speaker 1: mixtape days like back in the Day or whatever, but
- 16:16Speaker 1: this one was perfect, like for me considering I'm a
- 16:20Speaker 1: nineties cat, right, I grew up in the nineties. I
- 16:23Speaker 1: grew up in the eighties, but you know, I was
- 16:26Speaker 1: college years, you know what I'm saying in high school
- 16:29Speaker 1: early nineties. Saw a lot of those familiar samples because
- 16:33Speaker 1: he has a lot of them R and B samples.
- 16:36Speaker 1: But also you know how he was writing and how
- 16:40Speaker 1: it all ties together. It just was a dope album
- 16:44Speaker 1: for him. Did it deserve to Grammy over the clips? No?
- 16:47Speaker 1: It did not. Okay, stop yourself because with the clips,
- 16:51Speaker 1: I never skip a song like none Well wile a
- 16:57Speaker 1: the one joint that kind of sounded like a Rick
- 16:59Speaker 1: Ross staff out beat from back in the days. That one.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I'm just like, I don't need that one, because I
- 17:04Speaker 1: feel like the vibe when you hear the first three
- 17:07Speaker 1: records on Wallet's album, but to me, that should have
- 17:11Speaker 1: been a whole vibe. And it continues later on. But
- 17:14Speaker 1: there are songs that kind of like afrobeat records. They're
- 17:19Speaker 1: not too bad, but they kind of change it, switch
- 17:21Speaker 1: up the tone of the album. I think those fit
- 17:24Speaker 1: a little bit better than the one I was talking
- 17:26Speaker 1: about that kind of sounds like a Rickross joint, but
- 17:29Speaker 1: nevertheless doesn't stop me from listening. I'm still running this
- 17:35Speaker 1: wald At album like it dropped yesterday, like somebody has
- 17:39Speaker 1: to drop something to replace it. It sounds too good,
- 17:45Speaker 1: So I'm gonna just keep running it until that happens.
- 17:49Speaker 1: Next one, Nipsey Hustle Victory Lab. This one, I don't
- 17:55Speaker 1: always listen, but I feel like every couple of months
- 18:01Speaker 1: or so, there's like a mandatory listen. Like there was
- 18:04Speaker 1: something about Nipsy, how he approached hip hop, how he
- 18:09Speaker 1: talked about things, and this album in particular, this moment
- 18:13Speaker 1: in time that I always feel like after listening to
- 18:17Speaker 1: all this hip hop old and new, you know, I
- 18:21Speaker 1: like to revisit, and I do it quite often. It
- 18:25Speaker 1: reminds me a lot of reasonable doubt. Right. You feel
- 18:30Speaker 1: like you're hearing from a hustler who has a lot
- 18:34Speaker 1: of wisdom and some bars and some dope beats and
- 18:38Speaker 1: some dope features, and it's just a different listen, you
- 18:42Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, than just listening to any hip
- 18:44Speaker 1: hop album that kind of has those same qualities. So
- 18:47Speaker 1: I always go back to Victory Lap, you know, I
- 18:50Speaker 1: have mixtapes and other Nipsey Hustle albums. But also it
- 18:56Speaker 1: just reminds me of a time before, you know, he
- 18:58Speaker 1: was murdered where I was kind of proud of Nipsy
- 19:03Speaker 1: for like taking that next step with his music, you know,
- 19:06Speaker 1: being at the Grammys and all of that. You know,
- 19:09Speaker 1: unfortunately what happened happened, But I never think about that.
- 19:13Speaker 1: It always makes me think about him rising at that
- 19:17Speaker 1: point in time in his career. So and lastly, it
- 19:21Speaker 1: was an album I just mentioned jay Z Reasonable Doubt.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I listened to this album at least once a year,
- 19:30Speaker 1: but lately, you know, as jay Z started making announcements
- 19:35Speaker 1: and you know, shout out to my man Jay. We
- 19:37Speaker 1: did the thirty years of reasonable doubt. I used to
- 19:42Speaker 1: listen to this album religiously at one point in the
- 19:47Speaker 1: late nineties early two thousands, Like I might have did
- 19:50Speaker 1: that for like ten years. It was it was just
- 19:52Speaker 1: like again, like I said with Nipsey, I want to
- 19:56Speaker 1: be in this hustler mode. These are the beats that
- 20:00Speaker 1: go exactly with what jay Z's talking about. It just
- 20:04Speaker 1: feels like grown man rap before a grown man rap,
- 20:08Speaker 1: and I never get tired of it, to be honest,
- 20:12Speaker 1: I never feel like, nah, let me go listen to
- 20:15Speaker 1: something news like nah, man, this is still this is
- 20:20Speaker 1: this is aged like fine wine period. That's how it feels.
- 20:26Speaker 1: So those are my heavy rotation albums that aren't new albums,
- 20:32Speaker 1: but they kind of just you know, they get a
- 20:34Speaker 1: lot of play from me here and there. What are
- 20:37Speaker 1: your five? You know what I'm saying. And it doesn't
- 20:39Speaker 1: have to be all hip hop. You know, maybe you
- 20:41Speaker 1: got a rotation that you never really plan to rotate,
- 20:45Speaker 1: but they're kind of your go tos. These your Thomas
- 20:48Speaker 1: in a common section Blow. I'd love to see what
- 20:51Speaker 1: you have following on social media anywhere at Vegas World.
