- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:04Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Now those people have a louder void the
- 0:16Speaker 1: kind I have to change the name from Flying Jade
- 0:18Speaker 1: and the Flying fs. Yeah good, Yeah, that that deserved shot.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Try to throw it out there. People need to know
- 0:27Speaker 1: that's the name of the company, hasn't the Flying Jade.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I was trying to let it die. Yeah, they had
- 0:34Speaker 1: benches back cold and metal. I took us. Was almost
- 0:39Speaker 1: anyone who sat in those stands and remembers watching miserable
- 0:41Speaker 1: football games like you just even help pop it bag
- 0:44Speaker 1: nahn toronce Mitchell's on defense again, not young says, yeah
- 0:50Speaker 1: you did, said twice. You're in a Toronts Josh does win.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Stay away from the buses. That's all I ask. Fred
- 0:57Speaker 1: was upset after that game because I can remember in
- 1:00Speaker 1: any non playoff blah. He was so mad that Josh
- 1:02Speaker 1: McDaniels was in our area, you know, with a goodbye
- 1:06Speaker 1: to people. Everybody. You know, they just saw you like
- 1:09Speaker 1: four months ago. It's not like you've been gone for years,
- 1:11Speaker 1: you know, I know, right open that one so mad.
- 1:16Speaker 1: It was just this is Patriots Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan.
- 1:23Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It's a new week.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's Tuesday here at Chilette Stadium, and uh wow, the
- 1:31Speaker 1: news kept coming. Huh. We thought Phillips was a big
- 1:35Speaker 1: one or Jabril whatever his name is, peppers, he was
- 1:38Speaker 1: so big. We don't know his name. Yeah, but Adrian
- 1:40Speaker 1: Phillips was two years ago. But you know, a move
- 1:43Speaker 1: that I think was a good move for both teams.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Davante Parker is a New England Patriot. Yeah, yeah, I
- 1:50Speaker 1: would agree with that assessment. Yeah, I like it, you guys,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I think they needed it. Um. I think there are
- 1:54Speaker 1: some questions, certainly his health, but big in the biggest one.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I think it gives them, you know, a potential big
- 2:01Speaker 1: downfield threat. And I mean he's he's had some good
- 2:03Speaker 1: games against the Patriots. We've seen him at his best.
- 2:05Speaker 1: But I think his availability is certain certainly something to consider.
- 2:10Speaker 1: But I'll be curious two years, he's got two years
- 2:12Speaker 1: left on his deal. I wonder if that kind of
- 2:14Speaker 1: plays out or if you know, if they make a
- 2:16Speaker 1: move to to maybe I don't know, restructure structure. You
- 2:22Speaker 1: want to make that longer. Yeah, I don't know, I
- 2:24Speaker 1: just not yet. I think you get two years out
- 2:27Speaker 1: of him. You Well, I'd be curious here of picking
- 2:28Speaker 1: Paul because I think you have a good nose for
- 2:30Speaker 1: like when guys come in and yeah, they got two
- 2:32Speaker 1: years left on your deal. But sometimes you kin are like,
- 2:34Speaker 1: he's only here for this year. My guess is that's
- 2:36Speaker 1: probably probably, But it's I think, um, the way Fred
- 2:42Speaker 1: put it, I think is really the way I look
- 2:44Speaker 1: at it. I think because of the Patriots situation at
- 2:47Speaker 1: wide receiver, you needed to find some help. I don't
- 2:50Speaker 1: think this is the ideal help, but I think it's
- 2:52Speaker 1: better than what they have if he's right, yep. And
- 2:56Speaker 1: I think that people kind of get this impression of
- 3:00Speaker 1: the player based on what Mike is talking about. You know,
- 3:03Speaker 1: like that last game of the nineteen season when the
- 3:05Speaker 1: Patriots lost the buy largely because of DeVante Parker, who
- 3:10Speaker 1: completely dominated Gilmour that day. I don't think that's what
- 3:14Speaker 1: he's been throughout his career. No, that was his big
- 3:17Speaker 1: year he had, and that was the one year he
- 3:19Speaker 1: played the whole season, right, And that's that's the key.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Like everybody's like, oh, he played for chat O'Shea that year.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It was a similar offensive the Patriots run. You know,
- 3:28Speaker 1: it was this that he played sixteen games, Yeah, once
- 3:33Speaker 1: in seven years. That's you know, if you could sign
- 3:35Speaker 1: me up and tell me he'll play sixteen game or
- 3:38Speaker 1: seventeen games, you know, this year, I think you're probably
- 3:41Speaker 1: gonna be pretty happy. I think he'll he'll have a
- 3:43Speaker 1: pretty good year. I think he'll give you another competent
- 3:47Speaker 1: receiver on the outside, which I think they need. I
- 3:49Speaker 1: know a lot of people love the idea of adding
- 3:52Speaker 1: a slot guy, but I think they really need somebody
- 3:54Speaker 1: outside the numbers. I don't want to scare people with
- 3:57Speaker 1: this because I don't mean it negatively. Okay, here we go.
- 4:02Speaker 1: He's what we hoped nikkil Harry would be. He's a big,
- 4:06Speaker 1: strong guy who can make contested catches outside the numbers.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Harry hasn't been able to do it. Yeah, Parker at
- 4:13Speaker 1: least has been able to do it occasionally. He hasn't
- 4:18Speaker 1: been able to do it consistently because of health. And
- 4:20Speaker 1: I worry about the you know, the hamstrings and things
- 4:23Speaker 1: like that, because receivers obviously need their legs. But he's
- 4:27Speaker 1: been able to be productive the way that I think
- 4:30Speaker 1: we all hoped that Harry would be. I don't again,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I don't mean that to scare people say, well, he's
- 4:35Speaker 1: he's a rich man's Nikhil Harry. No, He's been far
- 4:38Speaker 1: better than anything Nikkil Harry's ever been able to see
- 4:40Speaker 1: it go ahead. I was just gonna say that when
- 4:42Speaker 1: I heard it, it struck me as a typical Patriots
- 4:46Speaker 1: doing business kind of move. You know, an older guy,
- 4:49Speaker 1: somewhat proven, somewhat hurt, relatively affordable position of need makes sense.
- 4:55Speaker 1: A little surprising had happened within the division, but other
- 4:59Speaker 1: than that, it made perfect sense. I was listening on
- 5:02Speaker 1: over the weekend when it happened on you know, and uh, boy,
- 5:07Speaker 1: the you know, the narrative about Miami doesn't They're not
- 5:12Speaker 1: worried about you anymore, you know, they don't care that
- 5:14Speaker 1: this is a show of disrespect that they would do
- 5:16Speaker 1: this within division. They're not worried about you whatsoever. You know.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think. I mean, there is an
- 5:23Speaker 1: element of true. I mean, they have beaten you most
- 5:25Speaker 1: of the times they played you, But I also think
- 5:26Speaker 1: that they're not in a place where they're like, no problem,
- 5:28Speaker 1: but it's how they've constructed their team, and I think
- 5:30Speaker 1: he was an extra piece. I'd be curious. I just
- 5:32Speaker 1: think that the Patriots gave the most that any other body,
- 5:35Speaker 1: anybody else would give Bingo, And if there was any
- 5:38Speaker 1: other reason or rationale from Miami trading him to the Patriots,
- 5:41Speaker 1: they all should be fired, right, if it was anything
- 5:44Speaker 1: other than the Patriots offered the most, just like Buffalo
- 5:49Speaker 1: when they traded for Bloodstone. Right, you don't not do
- 5:51Speaker 1: it because it's in the division. Buffalo offered a first
- 5:54Speaker 1: round pick, That's right, and no one else probably did,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, I mean I like the idea as
- 6:00Speaker 1: Paul described it, because I think there are some of
- 6:01Speaker 1: those guys in the draft, but like as we saw
- 6:04Speaker 1: with Harry, there's a lot of unknown and at least
- 6:06Speaker 1: certainly Parker has some questions about him. But if healthy,
- 6:11Speaker 1: you think he can be that guy, you know, he's
- 6:13Speaker 1: been that guy before, you don't have to worry about. Right,
- 6:16Speaker 1: We're gonna reach at one and hope that you know,
- 6:18Speaker 1: Traylan Burks can figure it out, you know, and that
- 6:21Speaker 1: role it gives you a little more flexibility a little bit.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I still think it's a big need though. I mean
- 6:24Speaker 1: this is you know, long term, that's a position. Now
- 6:26Speaker 1: that's interesting. We'll save that for the second half of
- 6:28Speaker 1: the show because you know I love those like either oars. Right,
- 6:32Speaker 1: would you rather have Traylan Burks with the first pick
- 6:37Speaker 1: or that's tough you can but I could just asking
- 6:43Speaker 1: if you had but right, we'll get to that later.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Um So, now the trickle down effect. People assume this
- 6:51Speaker 1: is it for Nikkil Harry. I'm not so sure. What
- 6:55Speaker 1: if it's this is it for Nelson Algore. Now I
- 6:58Speaker 1: know there's money, uh that you lose if you do that,
- 7:01Speaker 1: but what if he's the guy that I'm not really
- 7:03Speaker 1: happy with this? Yeah? Well, I mean, no, Nelson ken
- 7:08Speaker 1: catch the football. I know we make fun of him,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and I know the Philly people made fun of him
- 7:12Speaker 1: for you know, his propensity for drops. But he was
- 7:16Speaker 1: a productive wide receiver way more so than Nikkil Harry
- 7:19Speaker 1: has ever been in this offense in a very different way. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I would say Agilore and Parker are kind of similar.
- 7:25Speaker 1: They've had good careers, Like they haven't been standouts, they
- 7:30Speaker 1: haven't maybe been what they was supposed to be quote
- 7:32Speaker 1: unquote as highly touted guys coming out of the draft,
- 7:36Speaker 1: first round picks. But I think Aglare has been reasonably good,
- 7:42Speaker 1: much like Parker, he had one really good year. Yeah,
- 7:46Speaker 1: but Nikkil Harry isn't there anything? Like I don't want
- 7:49Speaker 1: to trade Nikil Harry for one of them, Like Harry's
- 7:52Speaker 1: gotta go, Harry's gotta go. I just want something for him. See,
- 7:55Speaker 1: that's the thing. Somebody gonna give you anything. I mean,
- 7:58Speaker 1: he was seventh round pick or something, you know, just
- 8:00Speaker 1: something that you'll feel feel good if you get a
- 8:01Speaker 1: seventh round pick as opposed to just releasing him. But
- 8:05Speaker 1: but what if? But I just wished, I just wish
- 8:08Speaker 1: that I could be as positive in life. Hold on now,
- 8:12Speaker 1: but what if it's a galore and you get a
- 8:15Speaker 1: fifth round pick for him and you draft receiver in
- 8:19Speaker 1: the first round. Man, So now I'm paying ten million
- 8:22Speaker 1: on my cap. No, but I'm just saying it's still money.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I still money that I paid the guy. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 1: I keep Aggalore. I think this feeds into what I
- 8:33Speaker 1: want even this day. Two receivers get somebody to work.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I just think now your leverage for trading Harry is
- 8:41Speaker 1: even less. So why you have no leverage trading hat No,
- 8:44Speaker 1: but why why have you already been gone? Is what might?
- 8:47Speaker 1: Because nobody wants him? Okay, so what's the difference. You're
- 8:50Speaker 1: gonna just release him? You might? I would say you
- 8:53Speaker 1: probably if you can get all the way to training
- 8:55Speaker 1: camp and you haven't been able to find someone yet.
- 8:57Speaker 1: That's my guess is how it ends he doesn't make
- 8:59Speaker 1: the team. Yeah, But what I think you do if
- 9:03Speaker 1: you're the Patriots, is you just you just keep waiting
- 9:06Speaker 1: it out and like let it play out. Maybe something
- 9:09Speaker 1: happens and it makes the decision for you, and it's unfortunate.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You don't want to think about injuries or whatnot. But
- 9:15Speaker 1: seventh round pick, you know, like that done? Guess right?
- 9:18Speaker 1: I mean, maybe the only way you're going to even
- 9:21Speaker 1: get the sixth or seventh round pick for him is
- 9:24Speaker 1: if someone just says, you know, like Atlanta has no
- 9:28Speaker 1: receivers at all. Atlanta is one of the few teams
- 9:30Speaker 1: in the league that has like just nothing at the position.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Maybe they say I'll take I'll take a crack at him,
- 9:38Speaker 1: but I'm not going to wait for him to get released,
- 9:40Speaker 1: because then they have to fight potentially everybody else to
- 9:43Speaker 1: sign them to a minimum contract. If I give him
- 9:47Speaker 1: a seventh round pick, at least, I'm sure that I
- 9:49Speaker 1: have them. Yeah, And I feel like if he gets
- 9:50Speaker 1: to the team, and if he gets to the summer,
- 9:52Speaker 1: he's kind of a lame duck receiver that's not really
- 9:55Speaker 1: going to have a future here, and he's probably eating
- 9:57Speaker 1: up a spot maybe of somebody like you know, Rookie
- 10:00Speaker 1: that you develop, that you know that that that might
- 10:02Speaker 1: have a few See. I think the Patriots want more
- 10:05Speaker 1: picks this year. I do. And I think that was
- 10:08Speaker 1: clear by the fact that they traded the third rounder
- 10:11Speaker 1: for next year. Yeah. Right, I think the Patriots want
- 10:13Speaker 1: more picks this year. And I think that Agalore could
- 10:17Speaker 1: get you a mid round pick. I just think I
- 10:19Speaker 1: think Nick for you and now you can do that.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I just think that there's I don't know why you can.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I don't there's so much uncertainty with that whole group
- 10:28Speaker 1: still as it is now with Parker, he's got injury concerns.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Agalore had an okay year last year. It wasn't enough,
- 10:34Speaker 1: you know. So I'm hoping that you keep all those
- 10:37Speaker 1: guys and that somehow all right. It's either going to
- 10:40Speaker 1: potentially maybe click a little more for Agalore or Parker's
- 10:42Speaker 1: gonna stay healthy, you know, like you're you're kind of
- 10:44Speaker 1: mitigating risk a little bit with some guys who are
- 10:47Speaker 1: okay NFL receivers. I'm not ready to move on. I'd
- 10:49Speaker 1: rather than new guys. I want young. I think there's
- 10:52Speaker 1: a better chance that Agalore contributes more in in twenty
- 10:57Speaker 1: twenty two than could be. But looking at the numbers,
- 11:01Speaker 1: and I do think that they're gonna pick a wide
- 11:03Speaker 1: receiver either first or second round. I don't think they're
- 11:06Speaker 1: gonna take one in the first round, but I haven't thought.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I haven't thought they were gonna take one in the
- 11:10Speaker 1: first less likely now, yeah, second round maybe, okay, but
- 11:14Speaker 1: you're gonna want that person on the field, right if
- 11:17Speaker 1: you don't play. Yeah, right, I didn't like Harry on
- 11:20Speaker 1: the field. Yeah, that's it. Took him in the first round.
- 11:23Speaker 1: So someone more than probably one person's gonna have to go. Yeah,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I mean, well you already lost Gunner, so I mean
- 11:29Speaker 1: there's a spot. Plus you're gonna have. Myers is going
- 11:33Speaker 1: to be becoming a free agent. Agalore. It's going to
- 11:36Speaker 1: be a free agent. So you can draft a you
- 11:38Speaker 1: could draft a wide receiver, do the Belichick thing and
- 11:41Speaker 1: play him ten snaps, and then in year two he
- 11:44Speaker 1: takes over for these guys. Yeah, yeah, I like it.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I mean, and I think a lot of as good
- 11:48Speaker 1: as the top of that class is. We've talked about it,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and I'm looking forward to doing a receiver draft podcast
- 11:53Speaker 1: because there's so much to talk about there. But there's
- 11:55Speaker 1: a lot of guys that, you know, just be intriguing.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You know, some speed, I mean, you got some size
- 11:59Speaker 1: on the outsid I with Parker, find some speed, find
- 12:02Speaker 1: some you know, next level guys that can that can
- 12:04Speaker 1: take it and run with it. I think that's still
- 12:06Speaker 1: what that is missing from the offense, that you know,
- 12:09Speaker 1: run catch, take it to the house kind of kind
- 12:11Speaker 1: of expl But as of today, even with Parker, they
- 12:14Speaker 1: haven't found what Dante Scarneki says is Max Binky yet, right,
- 12:18Speaker 1: would you say that that person is still not on
- 12:22Speaker 1: the team. I still think that's Myers, But you know,
- 12:26Speaker 1: everybody wants to get rid of Myers, so I don't know,
- 12:28Speaker 1: not the Patriots, Yeah, I think they'll that'll happen sooner
- 12:32Speaker 1: than I think this will be it for him too.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I think I don't think people like him as much
- 12:38Speaker 1: as we do. I don't know just how you like him,
- 12:43Speaker 1: because I don't think they think he's fast enough. Okay,
- 12:46Speaker 1: but think of him as your fourth receiver. What's not
- 12:51Speaker 1: to like? Well, he was their first receiver last year,
- 12:54Speaker 1: I know, but think of him as your fourth receiver. Okay, Well,
- 12:57Speaker 1: then tell me who the first three are and I'll
- 12:58Speaker 1: feel better about I'm thinking was not ahead of Myers
- 13:05Speaker 1: last I said, should be? Should be? I mean you
- 13:08Speaker 1: could you could make an argument that by the end
- 13:09Speaker 1: of the year, Born became the number one guy. Okay,
- 13:13Speaker 1: you can't make an argument for Parker or Agalore. Yeah yet,
- 13:16Speaker 1: certainly not Aggalore. He was here, but if he could,
- 13:18Speaker 1: let's just say that you got Born, you got Parker,
- 13:22Speaker 1: You draft a receiver first or second round, and now
- 13:25Speaker 1: Myers is your fourth receiver. It's not terrible like it,
- 13:29Speaker 1: but I feel a little safer as is right now,
- 13:32Speaker 1: a little safer. And you know, the ability to manage
- 13:36Speaker 1: the rookie depending on how they do. I mean, I'd
- 13:37Speaker 1: love to have somebody who comes in and seizes it
- 13:39Speaker 1: and takes a role right away and is able to contribute.
- 13:42Speaker 1: But I mean, I feel better if he's able to
- 13:44Speaker 1: eat into snaps of of Agalore rather than we just
- 13:48Speaker 1: got to put him out. You know, it's it's it's
- 13:50Speaker 1: more competitive that he's got to walk in and there's
- 13:52Speaker 1: a room with you know, four established receivers that have
- 13:55Speaker 1: played a bunch of NFL snaps. You know. Um, but
- 13:59Speaker 1: you know, just but I am with Mike. I wish
- 14:01Speaker 1: they had a little bit more explosiveness and youth to it.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And that's why I'm not against the day two draft
- 14:06Speaker 1: of the wide receiver. And that's what you say, Mac Binkie.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It's four year contract. You know, he's want him and
- 14:12Speaker 1: they're you know, get to get them handcuffs and you know,
- 14:14Speaker 1: stay together. And like if Harker works out, so he's
- 14:19Speaker 1: going to be he's twenty nine, which somehow he became,
- 14:22Speaker 1: uh some somehow on Twitter he was deemed to be
- 14:26Speaker 1: younger than Robert Woods, who was two months younger than that.
- 14:30Speaker 1: If you go by age right now, I mean that's
- 14:32Speaker 1: that's if you go by the calendar. Yeah, um, so
- 14:35Speaker 1: he's not a young guy. He's twenty nine. So if
- 14:38Speaker 1: it works, you get a year or two out of him.
- 14:40Speaker 1: And now he's thirty one, right, probably not going to
- 14:44Speaker 1: continue that, right, He's not that kind of player that
- 14:47Speaker 1: you know, you think he's going to be dynamic, you
- 14:50Speaker 1: know into his mid to late thirties. Yeah, the just
- 14:54Speaker 1: the piggyback off of this. The thing they made me
- 14:55Speaker 1: lost lose my mind yesterday was was Florio's tweet of
- 15:00Speaker 1: and I had to write it down because because I
- 15:01Speaker 1: try to recall it to scale, I couldn't remember it.
- 15:03Speaker 1: It's time to admit. It's time for the Patriots to
- 15:05Speaker 1: admit a hard truth that they can't draft and develop
- 15:09Speaker 1: wide receivers. And I just like and and unfortunately it's
- 15:12Speaker 1: spirals because then the people that Paul hate have to
- 15:15Speaker 1: like respond to him with like, well, what about all
- 15:17Speaker 1: these guys. Aren't we all adults? Aren't we all adults? Like,
- 15:22Speaker 1: can't we say yes, yes, they have, they have had
- 15:24Speaker 1: struggles getting wide receiver abs rafting, Yes, can we move
- 15:27Speaker 1: on from like like it's just because it was a
- 15:30Speaker 1: stupid thing, Like it's a dead horse that they beat
- 15:33Speaker 1: over and over again. And then you flip on the news.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'm not gonna call him Pau shows because they're on TV.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Use not a shot, I mean, but it's just what
- 15:43Speaker 1: they hammer It's like the only thing you need to
- 15:45Speaker 1: know if you're going to talk about the Patriots on
- 15:46Speaker 1: TV right now, is really struggle with wide receivers, like
- 15:49Speaker 1: like that is like the biggest story as to why
- 15:53Speaker 1: they haven't had a playoff win in three years because
- 15:55Speaker 1: they hadn't drafted wives here certainly maybe part of it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: It just doesn't make any sense to me that you
- 16:00Speaker 1: would bring like it's been for like ten years people
- 16:02Speaker 1: have been talking about issues truth, like why Florio would
- 16:06Speaker 1: choose now to to like this makes it apparent the
- 16:09Speaker 1: nikkil that that when they went and got Parker and
- 16:11Speaker 1: that I know how those Boston writists are and they're
- 16:16Speaker 1: so soft, like they don't tell the hard truth. But
- 16:18Speaker 1: I'm here to tell you they have a hard time
- 16:21Speaker 1: developing me, no kidding. Yeah, it's just it's a kid
- 16:24Speaker 1: an annoying spiral, and it annoys all of us for
- 16:27Speaker 1: for different reasons. But man, well and then, and I'm
- 16:29Speaker 1: totally one hundred percent with deuced on the Florio thing
- 16:31Speaker 1: because I saw the same thing last night and I
- 16:34Speaker 1: was like, where's this coming from? You know what, what
- 16:37Speaker 1: is what? What is the point of this? And why?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Now you know? Then I start like reading like people
- 16:43Speaker 1: commenting on it, and I'm like, again, you know, I
- 16:47Speaker 1: said this to you off air, the greatest coach in
- 16:49Speaker 1: the NFL. I think that if you asked a hundred
- 16:52Speaker 1: people watching the NFL, ninety eight of them would say
- 16:54Speaker 1: Bill Belichick is the best coach in the NFL and
- 16:57Speaker 1: the other two would well, like would be like guys
- 16:59Speaker 1: like Bart Scott who just hate him. Right, so he's
- 17:02Speaker 1: widely considered the best. Does he have to be perfect
- 17:05Speaker 1: at absolutely everything? Right? He has a blind spot for
- 17:09Speaker 1: wide receivers. They've had a really hard time drafting and
- 17:12Speaker 1: developing wide receivers. Not according to some I don't know
- 17:17Speaker 1: if you know, but twenty five percent of the wide
- 17:19Speaker 1: receivers who have ever won MVP in the Super Bowl
- 17:22Speaker 1: were drafted by the Patriots. Yeah, then they started thinking
- 17:24Speaker 1: about other positions that I'm like, I just want to
- 17:26Speaker 1: counter with like him, that's what that's stats. That's well.
- 17:30Speaker 1: One of them is Julian Edelman, who wasn't even receiver.
- 17:33Speaker 1: That's a great example of how you can manipulate stats
- 17:36Speaker 1: to make any point, right, you know another guy, one
- 17:39Speaker 1: of Mike's boys, included Matthew Slater. Seriously, I mean, Lawrence Taylor,
- 17:47Speaker 1: Tom Brady, Matthew Slater, special teams, offensive special teams. I
- 17:51Speaker 1: don't know if you know, Mike, but I know how
- 17:53Speaker 1: to coach greatness. I started thinking about other positions that
- 17:56Speaker 1: I was like, what would they say, We're like, but
- 17:58Speaker 1: he's really good at drafted right tackles though right right,
- 18:01Speaker 1: Like like does anyone else like ever talk about another position?
- 18:04Speaker 1: Like what does he say? Is Bill Belichick Jeff really
- 18:06Speaker 1: well off? I would say offensive line is absolutely the
- 18:10Speaker 1: position he drafts really well? Right? How many? How many,
- 18:12Speaker 1: like real missus has he had over the years an
- 18:16Speaker 1: offensive line? And then not all early picks. Yeah, I'm
- 18:20Speaker 1: just gonna name some some good ones. Tuny, Uh, Shack Mason,
- 18:25Speaker 1: Stephen Neil Marcus Cannon and draft Stephen but he developed no,
- 18:29Speaker 1: But I'm just going But you go by like Light sorry,
- 18:32Speaker 1: Paul Matt Light, Logan Mankins, so Nate's Solder, And then
- 18:39Speaker 1: you go to like Shack Mason, Joe Tuney, sure, Dan Copen,
- 18:44Speaker 1: even like Brian Stork, which talent was not Brian Steark's issue.
- 18:47Speaker 1: He was at jerky um and the list goes onre't
- 18:51Speaker 1: even guys like Trey Jackson who had a bad knee problem,
- 18:54Speaker 1: who was pretty productive early on. Yeah, Russ Hochstein again,
- 18:58Speaker 1: not Steven Neil, not even playing offensive line, and they
- 19:01Speaker 1: not drafted, but they made him. My point about that's
- 19:05Speaker 1: a position that he is consistently right down to Michael
- 19:08Speaker 1: Nio and Justin We forgot about Sebastian Vomer second round
- 19:12Speaker 1: perfect Freddy. Yeah, he has drafted a lot of offensive
- 19:15Speaker 1: linemen over the years, and almost none of them couldn't play.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I mean everybody, like listen, not every fifth, sixth, seventh
- 19:22Speaker 1: round guy works out. Yeah, like Corey Hilliard, the guy
- 19:25Speaker 1: who couldn't make it through Remember he couldn't take it
- 19:27Speaker 1: through practice without pulling a Paul f him yesterday. Um,
- 19:31Speaker 1: he got he was one. Clint Oldenberg another one didn't
- 19:37Speaker 1: really pan out. But I mean he probably has drafted
- 19:41Speaker 1: fifteen to twenty offensive linemen that have at least even
- 19:45Speaker 1: guys that didn't play for the Patriots. Ted Larson ended
- 19:48Speaker 1: up daughter he was like a starter in Tampa Bay.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Where would you put Adrian Clint I mean, I'm I'm
- 19:57Speaker 1: gonna say that's that's a bust. Yeah, but it was
- 19:59Speaker 1: also a Bobby Greer pick. Yeah, so why why can
- 20:04Speaker 1: we can we talk about why? Because I think it's
- 20:07Speaker 1: easy to just say they can't do it? Why why
- 20:10Speaker 1: can't they do it? Why did they get the wrong guys?
- 20:12Speaker 1: And and I'm gonna throw this out there, and I
- 20:13Speaker 1: don't want to make this sound like I'm blaming anybody.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I know what you're gonna say, but I'm say no, no no, no, no,
- 20:18Speaker 1: no, no no, no, I want to hear this. Yeah, I'm interested.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I know it might light a fuse. Yeah yeah, no,
- 20:23Speaker 1: well I'll should I just say it in a way
- 20:25Speaker 1: that will light a fuse. No no, no, no no, don't
- 20:27Speaker 1: do that. Don't light the witness. But but there's a reason, right, Like,
- 20:30Speaker 1: I mean, there has to be, and then it could
- 20:32Speaker 1: be a bunch of reasons that there are. But I mean,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I think it's it's worth a conversation of asking why
- 20:36Speaker 1: can't they do it? Why are they drafting the wrong guys?
- 20:38Speaker 1: Does it have to do with their offense and what
- 20:40Speaker 1: they ask guys to do? Does it have to do
- 20:41Speaker 1: with who their offensive coordinators were and what part they
- 20:44Speaker 1: had in it? Um? You know, And I'm not like,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I don't want to say this like absolved Bill and
- 20:48Speaker 1: be like you know it was all Josh McDaniel's fault.
- 20:50Speaker 1: He was the one. But I think that it's part
- 20:52Speaker 1: of the convers I knew it, Um, But I think
- 20:56Speaker 1: it's a real conversation, and I think that everybody, you
- 20:58Speaker 1: know Florio, it's just like they just can't do it. Well,
- 21:01Speaker 1: why why do you think that they they don't know
- 21:03Speaker 1: what they need or are they failing to, uh, you know,
- 21:07Speaker 1: pick guys that can understand what they're going to ask.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I have a theory that's close to that. And by
- 21:11Speaker 1: the way, that didn't light a few, but it wasn't.
- 21:13Speaker 1: It wasn't the dumbest thing I could. But seem like
- 21:15Speaker 1: it's like the scales of justice when you take the
- 21:17Speaker 1: Florial quote, Okay, true, absolutely true, But then you look
- 21:21Speaker 1: at the offensive production over the years, and it's like,
- 21:24Speaker 1: well Brady had to be thrown as somebody, somebody was
- 21:27Speaker 1: catching those balls, and when they had certain receivers here,
- 21:30Speaker 1: albeit not through the draft, yeah, they sword, they absolutely soared. Right.
- 21:36Speaker 1: That's why I don't blame the offense. The offense is
- 21:38Speaker 1: consistently for twenty years been among the league's best. Right, Um,
- 21:42Speaker 1: But I understand what what Mike is talking about. I
- 21:44Speaker 1: think it's more. I think there's something to what Mike's saying. Yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 1: that's why I just said. I I think that they
- 21:56Speaker 1: ask too much of what they're looking for in a
- 21:58Speaker 1: draft pick, Like how many times you you know, well
- 22:02Speaker 1: he blocks, well he runs this four down? Four down?
- 22:07Speaker 1: Got like can we just find a guy with an
- 22:09Speaker 1: elite skill set and find a way to use that
- 22:11Speaker 1: elite skill set and then with a brain and then
- 22:15Speaker 1: once that happens, find other things for him to do, like,
- 22:19Speaker 1: you know, see if he can do X, Y and Z.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I just think that the reason that they had more
- 22:25Speaker 1: luck with free agents is because they're already in the
- 22:28Speaker 1: league and they already have a base knowledge of what
- 22:31Speaker 1: it takes to be an NFL receiver. Right, But I
- 22:34Speaker 1: think that they look for too much and I did,
- 22:37Speaker 1: and I think I think there, you know, and I'll
- 22:39Speaker 1: put Brady in this equation. I think there was an
- 22:42Speaker 1: impatience with young people. But that was late. No, no,
- 22:45Speaker 1: but it was late. But you know that's not why
- 22:46Speaker 1: Chad Jackson didn't panic. No I know, no, no, not
- 22:49Speaker 1: not everybody. But you don't get it right away. And okay,
- 22:54Speaker 1: you know we're gonna put you in the backshelf and
- 22:56Speaker 1: we're gonna work. You know, there wasn't that leniency for
- 23:00Speaker 1: FA think that Bill has And this is more anecdotal,
- 23:04Speaker 1: This might not be fact. This is just my opinion
- 23:07Speaker 1: from Afar. I think Bill has sort of an aversion
- 23:10Speaker 1: to that, like diva star kind of no doubt. Yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 1: And those are the best receivers that right, quarterbacks, And
- 23:18Speaker 1: I think he looks for the guy like, you know, yeah,
- 23:20Speaker 1: it's great. You got Dion Branch who was like just
- 23:23Speaker 1: a great team player, team oriented guy that was willing
- 23:26Speaker 1: to sacrifice Super Bowl, right, he was willing to sacrifice
- 23:30Speaker 1: his stats for the better of the team. And David
- 23:32Speaker 1: Gibbons was the same kind of guy. Right, that's great.
- 23:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry those are rarities of that position. Most of
- 23:39Speaker 1: the guys at that position want theirs. Yeah, I want
- 23:42Speaker 1: my touches. I also think duced to your point that
- 23:46Speaker 1: there was a time when they had a problem drafting linebackers,
- 23:52Speaker 1: time when they had problem drafting tight ends. It seems
- 23:54Speaker 1: like cornerbacks, especially in the second round, it seems like
- 23:57Speaker 1: these things are kind of like almost cyclical in that, like,
- 24:01Speaker 1: and I wonder if they're related, Like, are they scouting
- 24:05Speaker 1: that those types of warner and wide receiver is definitely
- 24:07Speaker 1: related for the same reason I said they look for
- 24:09Speaker 1: too much. Ye can't just be a guy who just
- 24:12Speaker 1: stays on the outside and Dion Sanders and just shuts
- 24:15Speaker 1: down the guy. No, no, no, you gotta play in
- 24:17Speaker 1: the kicking game. You gotta come up and support the run.
- 24:19Speaker 1: You gotta be you gotta do this, you gotta do that.
- 24:21Speaker 1: And I think that's why the undrafted guys have been better,
- 24:24Speaker 1: because they don't have the ego to say I'm not
- 24:27Speaker 1: doing now right, I'm not sticking my nose in and
- 24:29Speaker 1: stopping the run. Yeah, but it's one thing to have
- 24:32Speaker 1: a high bar, but then there's another reason for the
- 24:35Speaker 1: guys that get over that bar that don't succeed, you know.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Like so I get like you're asking a lot, but
- 24:41Speaker 1: they still must have thought enough of some of these
- 24:44Speaker 1: guys to take them. So then why can't the guys
- 24:47Speaker 1: that they do deem good enough to take Why can't
- 24:50Speaker 1: they figure because it's not good enough, it's well rounded enough,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and they made me do not have the requisite skill
- 24:56Speaker 1: set to actually cover the guy again and total, I
- 25:00Speaker 1: don't know that that's true, but I just look at
- 25:02Speaker 1: it and and it's like, Yeah, I have a guy like
- 25:06Speaker 1: Duke Dawson. He does everything well, man, he plays on
- 25:09Speaker 1: special teams, he does can he can he cover Fred
- 25:12Speaker 1: Kersh in the slot right, because I'm not sure he
- 25:15Speaker 1: can so if he can't, If he can't do that
- 25:19Speaker 1: all the other stuff Like Jowan Williams has great, great
- 25:22Speaker 1: length and he has the ability, but if he can't
- 25:25Speaker 1: cover a guy, I don't need to take him in
- 25:28Speaker 1: the second round. Now, I'm not telling you that every
- 25:30Speaker 1: single guy is like that. I don't know, but I
- 25:33Speaker 1: just wonder if the search for always looking for someone
- 25:37Speaker 1: that can do a lot of different things well, pushes
- 25:39Speaker 1: them up their boards, pushes them up the board for them,
- 25:43Speaker 1: but they lack that basic quality that everybody at a
- 25:46Speaker 1: position needs to have. Wide receiver, you need to be
- 25:49Speaker 1: fast enough to get open, yeah, on a consistent basis.
- 25:53Speaker 1: So whether or not you can block on the edge
- 25:55Speaker 1: and maybe cover a punt iff I need you to
- 25:57Speaker 1: is largely irrelevant if you can't get open the ball.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Which are the things that Belichick tells me. He always
- 26:02Speaker 1: looks more at his receivers, and that's why I the
- 26:05Speaker 1: pick of Barmore kind of sticks out to me because
- 26:07Speaker 1: I feel like he is one of a little bit
- 26:09Speaker 1: of those anti guys, like he's a guy that can
- 26:12Speaker 1: just go and get the quarterback and get up field.
- 26:14Speaker 1: And you know, I don't know how much truth there
- 26:17Speaker 1: was to all, like you know, the pre draft concerns
- 26:19Speaker 1: with him and you know, all that stuff that was
- 26:21Speaker 1: kind of talked about, but at least enough there too
- 26:24Speaker 1: weig that you would think that they he wasn't checking
- 26:27Speaker 1: all of those boxes, perhaps, um, and they trade it
- 26:30Speaker 1: up to get him. So I don't know, maybe maybe
- 26:33Speaker 1: there needs to be a little bit more of that
- 26:35Speaker 1: where we saw him come in and he can play football,
- 26:38Speaker 1: he can go get the quarterback, he can make an
- 26:39Speaker 1: impact instantly, and I'd like to say that maybe that's
- 26:43Speaker 1: a sign that they're looking for for more elite talent
- 26:47Speaker 1: like that. Um. But my guess is that Barmore is
- 26:52Speaker 1: better at other things than you think and that's why
- 26:55Speaker 1: he was and that's I think that that's that should
- 26:58Speaker 1: be an open door because all that's stuff that set
- 27:00Speaker 1: I don't you know that that all felt like rumors
- 27:03Speaker 1: and if oh no, no, I worry about that, I
- 27:06Speaker 1: worry about that stuff. I mean, the guy I mean
- 27:08Speaker 1: he tried, he contemplating quitting. I mean, I don't think
- 27:11Speaker 1: that was made up. I mean that was Saban has
- 27:13Speaker 1: talked about that. Um. But I'm saying just his purability. Yeah,
- 27:17Speaker 1: what stands out to me is his ability to collapse
- 27:19Speaker 1: the pocket. But I don't think he's a bad run
- 27:21Speaker 1: player like I think he. I think he takes up
- 27:24Speaker 1: space and in the run and doesn't get pushed around
- 27:27Speaker 1: and yeah, and does what he's supposed to do. If
- 27:28Speaker 1: he couldn't do that, I don't think Bill would be
- 27:30Speaker 1: interested in him, even if he's great at the other thing. Yeah. Yeah,
- 27:34Speaker 1: and that I think sometimes. Listen, I'm not telling you
- 27:37Speaker 1: that Bill, you know, doesn't know what he's looking forward,
- 27:41Speaker 1: doesn't know what he's looking I mean, obviously he's gonna
- 27:44Speaker 1: set the all time wins record in three years, so
- 27:47Speaker 1: the guy obviously knows what he's doing. What do the sharps?
- 27:50Speaker 1: What do the sharps know? Freddy Sharp Football Analytics, nobody
- 27:53Speaker 1: knows what you're talking about, Warren Sharp Football Analytics. I
- 27:56Speaker 1: don't know if you follow that. I'm not. I'm sure him.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Mike does, UM and I follow. It's a good follow
- 28:01Speaker 1: on Twitter. I never ever have been on the site
- 28:03Speaker 1: because it would make my eyes bleed. But they walked
- 28:06Speaker 1: here at work. Is it really Probably it's an analytics
- 28:10Speaker 1: not a gamble. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it's they have
- 28:13Speaker 1: the over under at eight point seven. No, they have
- 28:16Speaker 1: the set at eight point seven wins. Yeah, the overunder
- 28:18Speaker 1: for Vegas. I believe it is eight eight and a half.
- 28:21Speaker 1: That makes sense, that's right, we're yeah, right, we're all.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I like that side. He seems to take himself very
- 28:25Speaker 1: seriously though, and that doesn't everybody who take who covers
- 28:29Speaker 1: football take themselves very seriously. Um. Another thing I was
- 28:32Speaker 1: listening to over the weekend on one of Paul shows,
- 28:35Speaker 1: the producers, they had Dante Scarneckia. I guess he's kind
- 28:39Speaker 1: of a regular guest. Yes, he's making and he's good. Um.
- 28:42Speaker 1: But he said, you know, they would talking about the offense,
- 28:45Speaker 1: and you know, he's not gonna say anything bad about
- 28:48Speaker 1: Joe Judge or Matt Patricia or you know, and he says,
- 28:51Speaker 1: you know, they're all gonna work the tail off and
- 28:54Speaker 1: he thinks they're all good coaches. He doesn't know, he
- 28:56Speaker 1: has no idea who's going to be calling the plays? Um,
- 29:00Speaker 1: no idea huh, Yeah, he has no idea. But then
- 29:03Speaker 1: he he was talking about, like, you know, some other things,
- 29:05Speaker 1: and he believes, you know, Shaq Mason was a cap casualty,
- 29:09Speaker 1: you know, and uh he said if he if he
- 29:13Speaker 1: was there, you know, when that happened, you know, he
- 29:16Speaker 1: would have been problem. He would have pushed back, he would. Yeah.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I think that's probably largely true, the cap casualty part.
- 29:23Speaker 1: But I think if they felt like he was worth
- 29:26Speaker 1: the salary, they would have found other ways to do
- 29:29Speaker 1: it right. Somebody else would have been the cap casualty
- 29:31Speaker 1: or whatever. Do you think it's a contrast between what
- 29:33Speaker 1: they did with Tuney and the franchise tagging what they
- 29:35Speaker 1: did with Mason, where it seems like they were kind
- 29:37Speaker 1: of willing to overpay Tuney for a year almost and
- 29:40Speaker 1: then and then get rid of the not even you know, well,
- 29:44Speaker 1: I think the same position. Yeah, I think that they
- 29:48Speaker 1: This is another one of my you know, anecdotal things.
- 29:51Speaker 1: I think it's a I think they mismanaged both of
- 29:53Speaker 1: them because I don't think you need to pay guards
- 29:55Speaker 1: that kind of money. Like Mason made a lot of
- 29:58Speaker 1: money too. He didn't get the fifty for one year
- 30:01Speaker 1: but he got more than Tony. They extended him. I
- 30:05Speaker 1: think they were both really good players, and I think
- 30:07Speaker 1: you can make an argument that Mason was one of
- 30:09Speaker 1: their best players last year, so he was playing at
- 30:12Speaker 1: a high level. And my point is, if playing at
- 30:16Speaker 1: a high level doesn't make you worth your contract, then
- 30:18Speaker 1: why are you give him the guy the contract? Because
- 30:20Speaker 1: I think everybody would agree that Jack Mason played well
- 30:23Speaker 1: last year. Yeah, yeah, So if he's not worth the contract,
- 30:26Speaker 1: then you gave him a bad contract. But when you
- 30:28Speaker 1: give him a contract, isn't it really about the initial years?
- 30:32Speaker 1: Is the last year really the contract? I mean, I
- 30:34Speaker 1: don't know. I feel like when you sign a contract,
- 30:36Speaker 1: especially a big, long term deal with a team, it's
- 30:39Speaker 1: probably a little bit I think. I don't think his
- 30:42Speaker 1: play was of the standard it was like two years ago.
- 30:45Speaker 1: I think he had diminished a little bit. Well not
- 30:47Speaker 1: according to the analytics sites. Now again, I don't know.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Before you yell at me, I do not think that
- 30:54Speaker 1: those analytics sites are the Bible. Yeah, I think there's
- 30:57Speaker 1: plenty of things that I would question about those sights.
- 31:00Speaker 1: But according to the PFF's of the world, he was
- 31:03Speaker 1: outstanding last year. Yeah right, Yeah, you know, but I don't.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I don't. I know, you're right. I was just thinking
- 31:10Speaker 1: it's it's always funny when it hits your sweet spot
- 31:12Speaker 1: when one of the analytics sites you don't agree with
- 31:15Speaker 1: backs up your point, and so I'm very fair about it.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't pay attention to any of it.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I don't whether it supports my argument or not. I'm
- 31:23Speaker 1: just looking at what I see. Yeah, all right, what
- 31:26Speaker 1: you saw was solid. I mean, Shack Mason had a
- 31:29Speaker 1: good year last year like that. I'm just going by
- 31:32Speaker 1: the eyeball test. No kurse, not convinced. Uh. You know
- 31:36Speaker 1: what I did get to see in my my foggy
- 31:39Speaker 1: haze yesterday a little bit was what you were talking about.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Um the playoff game against Buffalo, and you know who
- 31:46Speaker 1: did not play that well that well that night, anybody
- 31:49Speaker 1: on the offensive line, justin Haran, Trenton Brown. Yeah, yeah, no,
- 31:55Speaker 1: wonder why Paul was sick yesterday. That was actually it
- 31:59Speaker 1: might have been Sunday. I saw, but they gotta putting
- 32:03Speaker 1: that thing up. That's remember that fake spike play they
- 32:06Speaker 1: tried to run at the end of the first half.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Trent Brown let Jerry Hughes run around on like a turnstile.
- 32:11Speaker 1: It was unreal how badly he got beat on that
- 32:13Speaker 1: play Bury the football. I get him, put that one
- 32:16Speaker 1: in the hole and forget about Bury that month, the
- 32:20Speaker 1: whole month. Yeah, can I make one more one more
- 32:23Speaker 1: observation discussion. I just thought it was interesting, Um that
- 32:28Speaker 1: nothing nothing too crazy. Um, but the only position they
- 32:31Speaker 1: haven't really touched at all is along the defensive line
- 32:34Speaker 1: or on the edges of the defense at all. They
- 32:36Speaker 1: haven't touched those positions at all. So that's where you're
- 32:38Speaker 1: looking in the draft. I mean, well, yes, but I
- 32:42Speaker 1: also you just got run over. It was this really
- 32:46Speaker 1: are we are we really gonna I mean I guess
- 32:48Speaker 1: I know, and we beat like we gotta get younger,
- 32:49Speaker 1: and then you're like, we're gonna just really are we
- 32:52Speaker 1: really gonna do it? Based on how bad it looked?
- 32:54Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. I just I and and
- 32:57Speaker 1: Parker isn't like a you know, a team redefining kind
- 33:00Speaker 1: of player, but at least you makes it feel like, okay,
- 33:03Speaker 1: he can come in and maybe give you something that
- 33:04Speaker 1: he didn't have last year. And I just think I
- 33:08Speaker 1: saw them get pushed around on the line of scrimmage
- 33:10Speaker 1: a little bit too much last year, and and it's
- 33:13Speaker 1: impossible to say that they've gotten better. And so meanwhile,
- 33:16Speaker 1: everybody just wants to continue to beat the dead horse
- 33:19Speaker 1: of drafting receivers when you know you might not be
- 33:22Speaker 1: able to stop anybody up front or disrupt the quarterback
- 33:25Speaker 1: unless guys take really huge leads forward or you nail
- 33:27Speaker 1: it in the drag. The other one along those lines
- 33:30Speaker 1: that I've seen is, you know, you signed to Malcolm Butler,
- 33:32Speaker 1: so cornerback is no longer. And I've heard I've heard
- 33:35Speaker 1: a lot of people say this, and I'm like, so
- 33:39Speaker 1: a cornerback depth chart includes a guy who's coming out
- 33:42Speaker 1: of retirement, a guy who's coming off a major injury
- 33:44Speaker 1: in Jalen Mills. That's the quarter that's the cornerback depth chart.
- 33:49Speaker 1: And I think people look at it it's like, well,
- 33:51Speaker 1: you know, they they brought in Jabril Peppers, like you
- 33:54Speaker 1: can have as many safeties as you want. Who's covering
- 33:57Speaker 1: the guys outside the numbers? Right? Yeah? They those those moves,
- 34:01Speaker 1: don't I mean I think that they're what they usually do,
- 34:03Speaker 1: which is you put a veteran stop gap in and
- 34:05Speaker 1: and if maybe it works out he plays and if not,
- 34:08Speaker 1: maybe we get somebody in the draft it replaces him.
- 34:10Speaker 1: And you're totally right, like, I'm you know, I'm not
- 34:12Speaker 1: gonna sit here and be like, well, we're gonna be
- 34:13Speaker 1: better next year with Malcolm Butler and Terrence Mitchell and
- 34:16Speaker 1: Jalen Mills as the corners. Um. But at least there's
- 34:20Speaker 1: a little bit of like intrigue that maybe one of
- 34:23Speaker 1: those guys might have something in the tank or might
- 34:25Speaker 1: have a good season. And right now it's just you, you, you,
- 34:29Speaker 1: and and you know, not to put anything on Carl Davis,
- 34:31Speaker 1: but you know he lost Carl Davis. He lost a
- 34:32Speaker 1: guy that you know, played a little football for you
- 34:34Speaker 1: last year. And you know that's the only no one
- 34:37Speaker 1: you're still out there. Um, you know, and I know
- 34:40Speaker 1: that there are still guys out there that you know,
- 34:42Speaker 1: could potentially move the needle a little bit. I just
- 34:44Speaker 1: wonder if they're done because of the compis until that time,
- 34:48Speaker 1: I did forget about Terrence Mitchell, um, and he's another
- 34:51Speaker 1: depth piece. I think he can kind of think in fairness,
- 34:53Speaker 1: I forgot about him. But you know, I just I
- 34:56Speaker 1: think when you look at it and say it's it's
- 34:59Speaker 1: it's the same group up front along the line of
- 35:01Speaker 1: scrimmage that that we last saw in Buffalo, Like, you know,
- 35:04Speaker 1: am I waiting for an hour rookie to come? Yeah?
- 35:06Speaker 1: You know when you look at the you know, the
- 35:08Speaker 1: front on defense, was it the fact that they were
- 35:12Speaker 1: being pushed around or were they just wrong like you
- 35:15Speaker 1: just like a sink And yeah, no, And I think
- 35:18Speaker 1: that there's something too that I would also say that. Yeah,
- 35:23Speaker 1: I don't know if it's gone on for three years, yeah, yeah, right,
- 35:26Speaker 1: it's hard to forget that Tennessee playoff game. But it's
- 35:29Speaker 1: just you know, I mean, I kind of I just
- 35:32Speaker 1: think setting the edge of the setting the edge of
- 35:33Speaker 1: the defense is a is an important thing. And I think,
- 35:36Speaker 1: you know, Matthew Judean is at least an NFL player
- 35:38Speaker 1: that after that, I don't know who's setting the edge
- 35:40Speaker 1: on the other side. Game to me late last year
- 35:42Speaker 1: was the Colts game. Another one that was on this
- 35:46Speaker 1: week's Like, you know, they have a quarterback that they
- 35:49Speaker 1: clearly decided we're not going to let him throw the
- 35:51Speaker 1: ball tonight. I think he threw twelve passes in the
- 35:53Speaker 1: game something like that. And the whole thing is right
- 35:57Speaker 1: there it's number twenty eight. That's the only thing they're
- 35:59Speaker 1: going to do. They couldn't stop him. I mean they
- 36:02Speaker 1: stopped him periodically, but they couldn't stop him early when
- 36:05Speaker 1: the Colts built the lead, and they couldn't stop him
- 36:07Speaker 1: late when the Colts ran the clock out when you
- 36:09Speaker 1: had to you couldn't. Like that's to me getting pushed around. Yeah,
- 36:13Speaker 1: so I don't know. That was just my my thing
- 36:15Speaker 1: of wondering. You know, we're spending so much time, like
- 36:18Speaker 1: on a receiver, that is your defense going to be
- 36:22Speaker 1: really take a step. That's the bottom line for me
- 36:25Speaker 1: is whatever position they go in the first round, I
- 36:27Speaker 1: think could be almost impossible to say. I can't believe
- 36:29Speaker 1: they took X safety. Yeah, I think that safety and quarterback.
- 36:34Speaker 1: I mean if they took a quarterback, I'd be like, what, like,
- 36:37Speaker 1: what are we doing? And based on the draft class,
- 36:39Speaker 1: running back, tight end, you know, I think guard would
- 36:42Speaker 1: be the one that that they kind of need, but
- 36:44Speaker 1: that you'd be like, you need they need something offensive line,
- 36:49Speaker 1: defensive line, you know, just a pure linebacker like a
- 36:53Speaker 1: guy that might be able to play you know, off
- 36:55Speaker 1: the line line. The potential corner like a corner cornerback,
- 37:00Speaker 1: a wide receiver. I wouldn't be disappointed with any of
- 37:02Speaker 1: those positions. Yeah, all right, what I do with you
- 37:05Speaker 1: wide receiver? A little bit more down the list now,
- 37:08Speaker 1: five five past five hundred is the eight stick of
- 37:10Speaker 1: outline web radio at Patriots dot com is the email address?
- 37:14Speaker 1: All right, let's uh, let's open it up. See what
- 37:16Speaker 1: everyone has to say. We'll start with Christian in LA.
- 37:19Speaker 1: What's up? Christian here? You guys. Good to hear from
- 37:22Speaker 1: you again, La, you called us? Yeah, I do say
- 37:28Speaker 1: what everybody's saying about the defense needed to get younger
- 37:31Speaker 1: and in faster. However, I think the league has made
- 37:36Speaker 1: it super difficult for defense to be ultra competitive because
- 37:41Speaker 1: of the way it's the way a league is built.
- 37:43Speaker 1: It seems like we're going to have to be able
- 37:46Speaker 1: to score more point and it is more than needed
- 37:49Speaker 1: to be with the stop teams from scoring more point.
- 37:52Speaker 1: What I mean by that, it seems like we're gonna
- 37:55Speaker 1: have to get to a point where we say, and
- 37:57Speaker 1: I'll ask to save a question to you guys, our
- 37:59Speaker 1: off they to be just to make a real move
- 38:02Speaker 1: forward our offense after David is score over what and
- 38:07Speaker 1: our defense have to be able to keep teams thunder
- 38:10Speaker 1: what I think in one year's draft, it's more difficult
- 38:13Speaker 1: to build or add to a defense to keep teams
- 38:17Speaker 1: under that certain number the way the league is built,
- 38:20Speaker 1: as opposed to putting a couple of people of offense
- 38:23Speaker 1: and webermy together to be able to get up and
- 38:26Speaker 1: back that. So the third points that it seemed to
- 38:28Speaker 1: league and dictate you have to be in the score
- 38:30Speaker 1: to be competitive in this league. What do you guys think?
- 38:33Speaker 1: Why does it all have to be done in one year?
- 38:37Speaker 1: I don't think it's right. I don't think it's gonna
- 38:38Speaker 1: be done on yet. That's my point. We can't get
- 38:41Speaker 1: the defense in one year's draft. You can't get the
- 38:43Speaker 1: offensive one year's draft either. But what I don't understand
- 38:45Speaker 1: why we have a one year timetable, Like if you
- 38:48Speaker 1: think that the best players are defensive players, but it's
- 38:51Speaker 1: not going to give me an E league defense in
- 38:53Speaker 1: year one, that shouldn't, you know, dissuade you from taking
- 38:56Speaker 1: the best players. Like if you thought that Devin Lloyd
- 38:59Speaker 1: or one of those guys is a guy that you
- 39:01Speaker 1: can draft and plug into your defense for the next
- 39:04Speaker 1: eight to ten years, But just because it doesn't mean
- 39:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna have a great defense in twenty twenty two. Yeah,
- 39:10Speaker 1: I still I gotta take them. You can pull that
- 39:13Speaker 1: rip chord anytime. Christian, I mean also too, I mean
- 39:16Speaker 1: I think along those lines. This year, Saban said something
- 39:19Speaker 1: in the effect of you can't really play defense anymore. Yeah,
- 39:22Speaker 1: And I get Christian kind of away from it a
- 39:25Speaker 1: little bit. I do. And I get that it's harder
- 39:27Speaker 1: to stop teams than it is to school. I see
- 39:29Speaker 1: this thirty twenty score. Thirty twenty four to me is
- 39:33Speaker 1: if you're over twenty four, you should win, and if
- 39:37Speaker 1: you keep a team under twenty four, you should have
- 39:39Speaker 1: a chance to win. I think it's closer to thirty
- 39:40Speaker 1: though I agree with you the way that some of
- 39:43Speaker 1: these offenses are designed. Now you're gonna get in a
- 39:45Speaker 1: lot of shootouts. I think you need to be in
- 39:46Speaker 1: trouble then. I think I think you need if you're
- 39:49Speaker 1: giving up thirty points a game average you're at, you're
- 39:52Speaker 1: you're the worst team in the league, and you're gonna
- 39:54Speaker 1: need to get help to score thirty. Yeah, Like you're
- 39:57Speaker 1: not scoring thirty every game with with what they have. No,
- 40:01Speaker 1: that's what you're gonna have to do I think to
- 40:04Speaker 1: keep up. I think you're gonna have to score more
- 40:05Speaker 1: than twenty four day. You really think the defense is
- 40:09Speaker 1: going to be bad, Yeah, I don't. I don't know
- 40:12Speaker 1: if it's gonna be bad, but I think just you
- 40:14Speaker 1: have to keep pace. I know, but some of these
- 40:16Speaker 1: offenses are so good. Oh, I know that it's not
- 40:18Speaker 1: necessarily that your your defense is bad. I don't think
- 40:20Speaker 1: the defense is great right now, but I just think
- 40:24Speaker 1: that other teams, if they can still push you around,
- 40:26Speaker 1: the teams that get a lead and can run, are
- 40:30Speaker 1: going to start doing that to try to limit the
- 40:32Speaker 1: time you have to hold the ball too. So it's
- 40:34Speaker 1: points are gonna be at a premium. You're gonna have
- 40:36Speaker 1: to be able to score quickly and at will. Yeah,
- 40:39Speaker 1: I just I don't know if they can do that.
- 40:41Speaker 1: I mean, I just I think the offense is a
- 40:42Speaker 1: little bit farther ahead of the defense right now, and
- 40:45Speaker 1: I just I think they need I like Barmore. I
- 40:47Speaker 1: think he's a you know, modern real impact player. But
- 40:51Speaker 1: after that, after him, I mean, and I'll and I'll
- 40:54Speaker 1: say dugger I think is probably trending okay and upward,
- 40:58Speaker 1: and it's going to be a solid NFL player. And
- 41:00Speaker 1: I like Phillips too, but you know, it's just they
- 41:03Speaker 1: need a lot. I think they need a lot. I
- 41:04Speaker 1: got another one that I'll tease for later in the show.
- 41:06Speaker 1: I see we got full phone lines there, so we'll
- 41:09Speaker 1: get to this. But someone asked this week how many
- 41:13Speaker 1: blue chip players you think the Patriots currently have? Oh,
- 41:16Speaker 1: and I had a hard time answering that not any Huh.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I think Barmoor can be one. Barmore is the one
- 41:24Speaker 1: I picked. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean first half Jewton,
- 41:27Speaker 1: but not second half, right right? Yeah, only one of
- 41:32Speaker 1: them red sleeves made it. Yeah, let's go to Eldred
- 41:35Speaker 1: in North Carolina. What's up, Eldred? Hey, y'all doing good?
- 41:40Speaker 1: What up? Megan? Don't like trade? Bro Oh? Something told me,
- 41:47Speaker 1: something told me that you wouldn't like this trade. No,
- 41:50Speaker 1: because you gave up a third to get a field.
- 41:52Speaker 1: But you had but you had a guard, a Pro
- 41:55Speaker 1: Bowl guard, and you gave up you know, to me,
- 41:58Speaker 1: that's that's not good business. Yeah, but you can't comp
- 42:01Speaker 1: that way that you know. Okay, don't count it. Okay,
- 42:04Speaker 1: I'm not gonna count their way for fall. How about
- 42:06Speaker 1: this fall I didn't said, Yeah, I think the trade
- 42:10Speaker 1: was perfectly fair trade, completely separate for this with a
- 42:13Speaker 1: different team. The Patriots didn't give up too much in Miami,
- 42:17Speaker 1: didn't give them away. I have no problem with the
- 42:18Speaker 1: trade whatsoever, No problems. No, I think it was fair value.
- 42:23Speaker 1: To me is uh, he's just he's another aggalog. I
- 42:27Speaker 1: know you guys got a little more speed. I agree.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I think they're very similar players, think you at that
- 42:32Speaker 1: point in their styles that are not similar, but their
- 42:36Speaker 1: production has been similar. But but I'm with do newsdue.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I think they're not gonna get uh, They're not gonna
- 42:42Speaker 1: go after a receiver in the first round. I ruther
- 42:45Speaker 1: get Max Spinky. I ruther for them to go ahead
- 42:48Speaker 1: and get one, you know, I mean like William Dotson
- 42:53Speaker 1: or maybe I've late. But but then again, you know,
- 42:57Speaker 1: like I said, I don't think they're gonna do that
- 42:58Speaker 1: because they made this move right here. And to answer
- 43:01Speaker 1: your question Duce about why they can't see to make
- 43:04Speaker 1: it work with receivers. Yeah, I think Bill thinks like, well,
- 43:09Speaker 1: this guy didn't wanted and it's raided. Uh, first round,
- 43:12Speaker 1: this guy rated the fourth, third round, You're bout the
- 43:14Speaker 1: same guy about the same talent, but it's not you
- 43:17Speaker 1: your first round draft, uh, your big boy read and
- 43:21Speaker 1: your fourth round draft, big four read or Day three guy.
- 43:24Speaker 1: And I think you think you can get the same
- 43:25Speaker 1: out of out of the other guy instead of getting
- 43:27Speaker 1: the right one, you know, the one he hit on
- 43:29Speaker 1: with Mitchell. But Mitchell State hurt. Yeah, Mitchell State hurt.
- 43:33Speaker 1: But that's still that's classic round a guy with injury
- 43:36Speaker 1: issues that made his value drop a little bit. And
- 43:39Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I'm here. I mean, I I love
- 43:42Speaker 1: a lot of these SoRs in this class. I mean,
- 43:45Speaker 1: there's there's a lot of intriguing guys and I'm gonna
- 43:49Speaker 1: be But that was another one myself. I had no
- 43:51Speaker 1: problem to Mitchell because you didn't trade it. You didn't
- 43:54Speaker 1: draft him in the first round like you took a
- 43:55Speaker 1: ship like Bill a long time ago. Explain that to us.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Like the third round, the fourth round, like those kinds
- 44:02Speaker 1: of rounds. Third round, especially for the value is no.
- 44:05Speaker 1: He said, there were a lot of guys that get
- 44:07Speaker 1: drafted in the third round that have first round talent
- 44:10Speaker 1: but for whatever reason the third rounds. Reasons can be injuries,
- 44:14Speaker 1: character issues, you know, stuff like that. Yeah, So I
- 44:19Speaker 1: think Malcolm Mitchell showed you that he had the ability
- 44:21Speaker 1: to play at the NFL level. Yeah, he didn't have
- 44:24Speaker 1: the body to play at the NFL level, and it
- 44:26Speaker 1: let him down. You took you took a shot on him,
- 44:30Speaker 1: you know, with a mid round pick, and there was
- 44:33Speaker 1: a flash, but he couldn't do it. Yeah. I have
- 44:35Speaker 1: no problem with that pick, but it is another one
- 44:38Speaker 1: of those examples of we're just a little bit smarter
- 44:40Speaker 1: than everybody else and no one's gonna take this guy
- 44:43Speaker 1: because he has a bad knee. We're gonna take him.
- 44:45Speaker 1: His knee will be okay, isn't He wasn't okay? Ronk
- 44:48Speaker 1: it worked. Aaron's in Flint, Michigan. What's up? Aaron sounded like,
- 44:54Speaker 1: guys doing pretty good day. We're doing okay. Uh, I'll
- 44:59Speaker 1: call it talk get you guys professional opinion about something.
- 45:02Speaker 1: But first, can I just throw in there real quick
- 45:04Speaker 1: that you guys gave Bill Belichick a lot of praise,
- 45:07Speaker 1: but drafting Lineman, I think Dante Scarniki had a little
- 45:10Speaker 1: bit to do with that too. I mean, sure, they're
- 45:12Speaker 1: the whole time, fair enough. I was thinking that he
- 45:15Speaker 1: absolutely deserves a lot of that credit and especially for
- 45:18Speaker 1: a guy like Steven Neil. Yeah yeah, like Bill Belichick
- 45:21Speaker 1: didn't develop Steven Neil, Dante Scarniki Yeah yeah, good point yep,
- 45:25Speaker 1: all right, all right, So this is my thing. I mean,
- 45:28Speaker 1: it goes along with what people have been saying all
- 45:30Speaker 1: week about us not having a blue chip player or
- 45:34Speaker 1: no standout player. And I think that it goes back
- 45:38Speaker 1: to Devin mccordy and Matthew Slater last season where they
- 45:44Speaker 1: touched on the practice and I think that we just
- 45:47Speaker 1: don't have enough talent either on the Scout defense or
- 45:49Speaker 1: the Scout offense to really challenge our number one offense
- 45:55Speaker 1: and number one defense that and practice it. I mean,
- 45:58Speaker 1: we only as good as we practice. Again, so when
- 46:00Speaker 1: we get there doin some real team with real talent,
- 46:03Speaker 1: we looked like we looked against bum That's now you're
- 46:06Speaker 1: really in the weeds, Aaron. I mean you're saying now
- 46:08Speaker 1: that our scout team is an up to par Like
- 46:12Speaker 1: which team has like this outstanding scout team that you
- 46:15Speaker 1: know of? Well, well, Belichick gave a lot of high
- 46:18Speaker 1: praise too. For instance. This is just one example, but
- 46:22Speaker 1: for m Patrick charm how whenever something needed to be
- 46:26Speaker 1: done or emulated player. He's first to do it and
- 46:29Speaker 1: do this. Matthew Slayter was another one. All of these
- 46:32Speaker 1: free agents that we signed, you know, I know they
- 46:36Speaker 1: were supposed to be good receivers. But with with Mac
- 46:42Speaker 1: Jones being a rookie, I just don't think he had
- 46:44Speaker 1: the command to say, hey, guys, we've been to staff
- 46:48Speaker 1: at practice, we're gonna we're gonna practice these players John Usnup,
- 46:51Speaker 1: I think he would get out of there. Uh now,
- 46:54Speaker 1: I got lor I think he got out of there.
- 46:55Speaker 1: People like Hunter Henry might have stayed around Jakobeus. Wait wait,
- 46:59Speaker 1: whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa? What are we basing this on.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I'm basing this on the fact man that Hunter Henry
- 47:06Speaker 1: produced in the red zone and John H. Smith didn't.
- 47:08Speaker 1: So that meant that he stayed at late at practice. No,
- 47:11Speaker 1: not necessarily. I'm just saying he just didn't look like
- 47:14Speaker 1: they care enough to say, hey, we're gonna be crisp
- 47:18Speaker 1: out here, we're gonna Could it just be that they
- 47:21Speaker 1: weren't that good? Well, it is a fact that John H.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Smith did not take part in the offseason and Henry did,
- 47:26Speaker 1: and now this year Smith is taking part yeah, and
- 47:30Speaker 1: I look forward to Do you want the rest of
- 47:31Speaker 1: the list of the guys that weren't at the off
- 47:33Speaker 1: season programs? Okay, some people need it more than others. Okay,
- 47:36Speaker 1: does that mean he didn't care? I didn't say that
- 47:39Speaker 1: he did. I didn't say that he did. Yeah, yeah,
- 47:42Speaker 1: Aaron did. Yeah. I can't get in his mind. I'm
- 47:45Speaker 1: just thinking, like, just what the product that was on
- 47:48Speaker 1: the field made it look like he didn't participate? Yeah, okay, Yeah,
- 47:53Speaker 1: well there we go. Yeah, it's it's a complicated chemistry.
- 47:56Speaker 1: And thanks Aaron. I believe he might right a part
- 47:59Speaker 1: of the problem that he was dealing with injuries and
- 48:01Speaker 1: was off the field for much of the summer in
- 48:03Speaker 1: training camp. Yeah it in OTAs hit a baby tea.
- 48:07Speaker 1: I believe he had a child and was still like
- 48:09Speaker 1: leary about some of the COVID restriction issues about his
- 48:12Speaker 1: child than producing patriots, like listen up sometime. This This
- 48:17Speaker 1: is the part of this that that bugs me is
- 48:21Speaker 1: when they sign a bunch of free agents, we all
- 48:25Speaker 1: say some of them will pan out, some of them won't.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Then some of them pan out, some of them don't,
- 48:29Speaker 1: and we're up in arms about it, like everybody at
- 48:32Speaker 1: this time last year was like, yeah, they got like,
- 48:34Speaker 1: you know, eight ten guys that are coming in. A
- 48:36Speaker 1: few of them will probably work in, a few of
- 48:38Speaker 1: them probably won't. And that's exactly what happened. And now
- 48:41Speaker 1: it's because well, you know, they didn't care. They didn't
- 48:45Speaker 1: stay at practice, Like well, if you isn't a little
- 48:49Speaker 1: convenient to say that Hunter Henry stayed at practice and
- 48:52Speaker 1: Jonah Smith didn't. Yeah, yeah, and they're a little convenient
- 48:56Speaker 1: for anybody. Typically, the guys on the on the on
- 49:00Speaker 1: the scout team are not the starters, like guys like
- 49:02Speaker 1: that that he mentioned that they're guys who were third
- 49:06Speaker 1: string practice squad at some backups. I mean, it's not
- 49:11Speaker 1: to say that they weren't practicing against like well, if
- 49:14Speaker 1: you believe it, this is what's scaring me, because those
- 49:16Speaker 1: are your guys who are starters on defense right now,
- 49:18Speaker 1: as as far the backups who couldn't you know, give
- 49:21Speaker 1: give enough challenge for the offense to make them better
- 49:23Speaker 1: that those are the guys that top the death right. Now,
- 49:25Speaker 1: let's go to Rashad in Baltimore, sut Hey, they I
- 49:32Speaker 1: will say, it does it does stuck not having like
- 49:35Speaker 1: a like a like a superstar player on the Patriots.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I did want to direct a wide receiver, but I've
- 49:42Speaker 1: moved on to I just wanted to get an impact
- 49:45Speaker 1: player where it is while the mine who can literally
- 49:49Speaker 1: just come in and start. They don't even have to
- 49:52Speaker 1: be great. You want to foundation piece. I'm with you. Yeah,
- 49:55Speaker 1: they need a good young guy that could be part
- 49:57Speaker 1: of their team for the next five plus years. Yeah, yeah,
- 50:01Speaker 1: but I had I had a little like a little
- 50:03Speaker 1: gang for y'all. It's like a would you rather? We
- 50:06Speaker 1: like games? All right, So the first one is would
- 50:09Speaker 1: you rather have Mac Jones? Would you rad to have
- 50:12Speaker 1: the first overall pick this year? Mac Jones, Matt Jones
- 50:17Speaker 1: this year, even me this year? Matt Jones? Yeah, yeah,
- 50:20Speaker 1: Matt Jones. Would you rather have Robert Graft or Bill Blichick?
- 50:26Speaker 1: Robert Cracraft? Yeah, you're asking the wrong people that question.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Would you rather have your boss or the guy that
- 50:33Speaker 1: you spent half your time? In fairness the shot, that's
- 50:35Speaker 1: that's not a very fair question to ask. Okay, okay,
- 50:39Speaker 1: there's a little lower right hand corner attached to that.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Would you rather have the nineteen and old seasons? But
- 50:46Speaker 1: you would had to give up the last three? Pup
- 50:48Speaker 1: of boldly won the last three? Three? No, I give
- 50:52Speaker 1: up the last two. I'll give up the last two.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Would you as long as I can have fourteen? Three
- 50:56Speaker 1: is a lot? You would give up two? I would
- 50:58Speaker 1: give up sixteen and eighteen? I wouldn't. I wouldn't give
- 51:00Speaker 1: up fourteen. I want the I want the bulk. I
- 51:04Speaker 1: mean I think six is more impressive. Yeah. Would you
- 51:07Speaker 1: run the hand for one game at the Patriots thought
- 51:10Speaker 1: in quarterback Ryan Mallett or Jared did him? Jarretts did
- 51:15Speaker 1: him the game? Ryan Mallett, I think Malachi just because
- 51:17Speaker 1: it would be kind of scary to see his like
- 51:20Speaker 1: arrant throws going on. I think I saw I saw
- 51:22Speaker 1: more flashes out of Jarretts Diidham in training camp than
- 51:25Speaker 1: I've ever saw out of Ryan Malley. And yet Ryan
- 51:28Speaker 1: Mallett has been able to play in the league and
- 51:29Speaker 1: Jarrett Stidham hasn't don't play, But if he started games
- 51:35Speaker 1: for Stidham, for Houston, for Baltimore, what's his face? Can't
- 51:40Speaker 1: even get in the uniform Stidham. I'll take Stidham. He
- 51:42Speaker 1: can run. Stid him had some other issues. What would
- 51:45Speaker 1: that in the last one. Would you rather have the Patriots? Yes,
- 51:50Speaker 1: all blue jerseys red all the way depends which red
- 51:55Speaker 1: ones we're talking about. I mean the current all blue
- 51:57Speaker 1: or throwback red. Well, I don't I'd rather take we.
- 52:02Speaker 1: I'd rather take the throwback red, but with a white
- 52:05Speaker 1: helmet in the current logo. I like that Fred wants. Yeah.
- 52:10Speaker 1: I like the white with the Elvis on. I like
- 52:12Speaker 1: the seventies, the red with the white, the white home
- 52:15Speaker 1: guys with that old Elvis logo. Hated it when it
- 52:18Speaker 1: was our lobody nobody, no, no, we love I'm saying
- 52:21Speaker 1: the Elvis. I was saying, the white helmet, but current Elvis.
- 52:23Speaker 1: That's what I like. Yeah, that's what I like that.
- 52:27Speaker 1: But I hate both logos, alright. I love I loved, loved,
- 52:32Speaker 1: loved uniforms. Paul was a fan of the Tricorn hat
- 52:35Speaker 1: the same thing, bring back the Tricorn had. At least
- 52:39Speaker 1: that was the worst out of no surprise that lasted
- 52:42Speaker 1: a year. Yeah, all right. Uh, web radio at Patriots
- 52:46Speaker 1: dot com is our email address. Addison from Fresno kicks
- 52:50Speaker 1: it off. I was wondering if you guys thought there
- 52:52Speaker 1: could be a broader plan for the DeVante Parker trade,
- 52:55Speaker 1: other than he's a pretty good player and the price
- 52:58Speaker 1: wasn't bad. I believe the now bolsters the wide receiver
- 53:01Speaker 1: corps enough to draft Jamison Williams in the first round
- 53:05Speaker 1: because his absence won't be felt as much. I don't
- 53:08Speaker 1: think they're gonna draft Jamison Williams in the first round.
- 53:11Speaker 1: I don't either. I don't really get the premise, like,
- 53:16Speaker 1: don't they still need players? Well, yeah they do. But
- 53:20Speaker 1: that's that works great for the wide receiver position because
- 53:23Speaker 1: you don't need Jamison Williams as much as you would, right,
- 53:26Speaker 1: but you still need players, yeah, as much as you would.
- 53:30Speaker 1: I think it helps you. But you know, to have
- 53:32Speaker 1: Parker and gives you something. But we need help with
- 53:36Speaker 1: wide receiver. Where's that help coming from? Okay, we got
- 53:38Speaker 1: a little bit from Davante Parker, you know, but Jamieson
- 53:42Speaker 1: Williams is right there for us. Do we take him
- 53:46Speaker 1: knowing that he's not going to help our wide receiving
- 53:48Speaker 1: corps this year? Can we afford to do that? Yeah?
- 53:51Speaker 1: Well yeah you can. I mean I think I don't.
- 53:54Speaker 1: If you think he's Randy Moss and you think he's
- 53:55Speaker 1: worth the weight, and you think he's a sure thing,
- 53:58Speaker 1: then then yeah, I mean, if it's like Gronk, would
- 54:01Speaker 1: anybody be upset if he wasn't really able to go
- 54:04Speaker 1: right at the start of the season and then all
- 54:05Speaker 1: of a sudden had like twenty touchdowns and yeah, right, um,
- 54:10Speaker 1: because there was a chance that Gronk wasn't going to
- 54:12Speaker 1: be right. Let's face it. I mean, the guy didn't
- 54:14Speaker 1: play his last year with the back surgeries. But our
- 54:18Speaker 1: mindset was different. Then it was the urgency to get
- 54:21Speaker 1: that's true, to get relevant again. Wasn't that's true? You
- 54:24Speaker 1: know that's true. You were you were just reloading. Yeah,
- 54:27Speaker 1: big big difference, Sam and Toronto. Question for the crew
- 54:30Speaker 1: who misses more games this year? Isaiah Winn, Trent Brown,
- 54:34Speaker 1: to kill Harry, Davante Parker or whoever the Patriots pick
- 54:37Speaker 1: in the first draft. I'm gonna say Harry. I think
- 54:40Speaker 1: he might be missing. That's a fantastic question. I don't
- 54:46Speaker 1: like the premises. Yeah, I hate predicting injury surprised, but
- 54:49Speaker 1: I don't think Harry needs an injury though, no he's
- 54:51Speaker 1: played any team. Um, Okay, I would eliminate Harry because
- 54:57Speaker 1: I don't think he'll be here, But so it's Trent Brown,
- 55:00Speaker 1: Isaiah Wynn or DeVante Parker who misses the most games.
- 55:04Speaker 1: I don't like doing that. Those are three guys that
- 55:08Speaker 1: you can almost bank on will not play seventeen games.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Selman has a game, but we'll probably we'll play it later.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, is it complicated a little bit? A little bit.
- 55:19Speaker 1: It's like Tony writes in Tony says he's hopeful about
- 55:27Speaker 1: the Parker acquisition, but he's twenty nine, has only had
- 55:31Speaker 1: one very good year, and has had an injury history.
- 55:34Speaker 1: But hey, anyone who can make Harry just a camp
- 55:36Speaker 1: body to discard in late August is fine with me.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Get another wide receiver early in the draft and go
- 55:42Speaker 1: from there. I know everyone says you can always get
- 55:45Speaker 1: a wide receiver in the middle rounds, but this year
- 55:47Speaker 1: I think there is such a market for wide receivers
- 55:50Speaker 1: that if the Patriots don't get one by round three
- 55:53Speaker 1: at the latest, any impact player will be gone. Oh yeah,
- 55:58Speaker 1: round three, yes, like anything after that is a is
- 56:03Speaker 1: a crapshoot. Flyer. Oh take it a flyer. Language of
- 56:09Speaker 1: origin is yeah. I mean you're not You're not taking
- 56:11Speaker 1: a wide receiver in the fourth, fifth round, saying we're
- 56:14Speaker 1: gonna plug him in and he's gonna be He's gonna
- 56:16Speaker 1: be a big part about I'm not saying that that
- 56:18Speaker 1: never happens, but you're not drafting a guy in the
- 56:21Speaker 1: fifth to your point earlier, they got a thing that
- 56:23Speaker 1: they gotta get around if they're going in the fourth round.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Whatever that thing is, be its speed, be it injury history, something.
- 56:30Speaker 1: At that point, there's a there's a big thing probably
- 56:32Speaker 1: with them, lack of competition or yeah, right, like like
- 56:35Speaker 1: a D three kind of a guy. I gotta make
- 56:37Speaker 1: a jump. But but I'm with the general premise of
- 56:41Speaker 1: there's just there's just too many good players, and I
- 56:43Speaker 1: think it's too important a position long term, and you're
- 56:46Speaker 1: just in that sweet spot now with with Mac probably
- 56:48Speaker 1: here for four more years, to draft a receiver and
- 56:51Speaker 1: have him for four four more years. Wow, interesting interesting admission. Yeah,
- 56:57Speaker 1: col and Eugene Oregon. I'm not thrilled with the Parker
- 57:00Speaker 1: trade because he can't stay healthy and despite being our
- 57:03Speaker 1: number one wide receiver, he's not very dynamic. I feel
- 57:06Speaker 1: discouraged because now it's hard for me to believe that
- 57:09Speaker 1: Bill will use a draft pick from the first four
- 57:12Speaker 1: rounds on a wide receiver, feel will be disappointed when
- 57:15Speaker 1: I feel we should be building the receiving core of
- 57:18Speaker 1: the future. And I think Mike said it perfectly earlier
- 57:21Speaker 1: in the show. It's just like, the reason I want
- 57:23Speaker 1: a wide receiver on day two so bad is I
- 57:26Speaker 1: want a guy that can get better and develop with
- 57:29Speaker 1: Mac Jones. And thirty year old receivers aren't going to
- 57:35Speaker 1: do that. If they pan out, great, He'll help them now,
- 57:38Speaker 1: but then they'll be gone. Yeah, so there's a chance
- 57:41Speaker 1: that in twenty twenty three you could have no Aggalore,
- 57:47Speaker 1: no Myers. I'm going to say, no Parker, there's a chance,
- 57:51Speaker 1: and then you're left with Kendrick Bourne if you can
- 57:54Speaker 1: sort of extend him, you know, beyond that, I think
- 57:57Speaker 1: he has three years another year on his contract, so
- 58:02Speaker 1: I would like to add a guy who is going
- 58:04Speaker 1: to have four years minimum on his contract to develop
- 58:07Speaker 1: with Mac Jones. And I think that that speaks a
- 58:09Speaker 1: little bit. It might have been Willie and Philly last
- 58:11Speaker 1: week that kind of called in with m I'm sorry
- 58:16Speaker 1: if I'm wrong about that, but he said something along
- 58:17Speaker 1: the lines of just you know, not having players to
- 58:19Speaker 1: kind of latch onto and you know these are the
- 58:21Speaker 1: Patriots guys and buy a jersey of these kind of guys.
- 58:24Speaker 1: And you know, I think that's something that you could
- 58:26Speaker 1: have with a receiver that all right, he's here. I mean,
- 58:29Speaker 1: it's a little bit like Terry Glenn when they got
- 58:31Speaker 1: Terry Glenn and you felt like, all right, this is
- 58:34Speaker 1: you know, Bledsoe's guy. Maybe you felt differently at that time, Paul,
- 58:36Speaker 1: don't the Bledsoe guy. But you know, it's just it
- 58:39Speaker 1: felt like they got him a guy. They got him
- 58:40Speaker 1: a guy. And I mean, and even listening to the
- 58:42Speaker 1: Drews pass from the past, he felt like, we got
- 58:45Speaker 1: a guy. You know that this guy can help us. Yeah,
- 58:49Speaker 1: you know. So, I mean, I don't think it's totally
- 58:52Speaker 1: an app comparison. But one other thing I will say
- 58:55Speaker 1: is like, you know, Agalore and Parker, they're outside guys,
- 58:59Speaker 1: and I think that they have They have an impact
- 59:01Speaker 1: on the game at certain points, no question, and they
- 59:03Speaker 1: can certainly affect the offense. But I think when you
- 59:06Speaker 1: look at the guys that you might look at Day
- 59:08Speaker 1: two of the draft that can be on the inside,
- 59:10Speaker 1: that can be dynamic, that as you was saying earlier,
- 59:12Speaker 1: that can catch it and take it to the house
- 59:14Speaker 1: and are you know a little bit more involved in
- 59:16Speaker 1: the offense in terms of how they manipulate things and
- 59:19Speaker 1: how they you know, I just I feel like part
- 59:21Speaker 1: of the reason Agilor didn't really shine last year is
- 59:24Speaker 1: because he's kind of in that role that they put
- 59:26Speaker 1: Cooks in, that they put Mitchell into an extent where
- 59:29Speaker 1: you're just kind of running goes and comebacks on the
- 59:31Speaker 1: outside and it's meant to take the top off the
- 59:34Speaker 1: Sometimes it's there, and we saw, you know, mac able
- 59:36Speaker 1: to hit him down the sidelines a couple of times
- 59:38Speaker 1: in camp and a couple of times during the season.
- 59:40Speaker 1: But you know, I want the high volume third down binky.
- 59:44Speaker 1: And when you say when Dante Scornekia says binky, that's
- 59:47Speaker 1: what I think of. I don't think of a DeVante
- 59:49Speaker 1: Parker type being a binky. I don't think of dk
- 59:52Speaker 1: metcalf as being a binky. They're great players. They affect
- 59:55Speaker 1: the offense, no questioning, you'd love to have them. But
- 59:57Speaker 1: I think what this offense needs right now more guys
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: in the middle, get open, quick, get the ball, keep
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: the offense on time. And if you have a guy
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: outside that can threaten deep and you can connect on
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: a couple of those, then then you're really cooking with something. Yeah,
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: and I like the idea of moving Aglare around a
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: little bit more. But I also think that Mac Jones
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: has to throw the ball to him more like they
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: were to take advantage of him. He missed. And I'm
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: not trying to tell you that Agalore is perfect, because
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: I think he's an average player, but I don't feel
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: like that they they were in position to utilize him
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: as much as maybe they could. And part of that
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: was probably Josh, you know, making sure that's fault together.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: He's gone now so we can make fun of him. Um.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: But I think, you know, you know, keeping the restrictor
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: played on Mac a little bit, you know, don't push
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: it too much and let's not turn it over. I
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: think that's what since he's interesting too. About Agalore was
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: just that he was kind of a slodt receiver in
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Philip on the bomb on the first drive of the
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: playoff game. That yes was ye, like that might be
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: one of the things like Josh is thinking, like, yeah,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: he doesn't quite have it yet to do that consistently,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: because that play was there, Yeah, and the throw was
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: a little bit late and a little bit short Zack
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: and Brighton. First, I just want to give my two
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: cents that nobody asked for on the Parker trade. Like most,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: I like the move, but the consistent injury history concerns me.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: But weirdly I find soulis in that he has at
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: least played double digit games in every season he's played.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: For the price, I'd much rather deal with Parker's injuries than,
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: for example, Obj's recent injuries. And no, I won't retract
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: this if we still somehow sign Odell. Secondly, I was
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: hoping you each could give me your opinion on Belichick.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: I'm a twenty seven year old and my earliest football
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: memory is the Colts game Week three, right after that
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Jets game. Talk about perfect timing. My grandfather baby sat
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: me a lot that year, and he lives for the Patriots,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: so that really launched my football interest. As far as coaching,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: all I know he's the embody to what I make
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: fun YEA. As far as coaching perspective is Belichick, could
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: you each tell me if there was a moment in
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: the two thousands where you first realize Bill was consistently
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: cut above the competition from a coaching standpoint, was it
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: the first Super Bowl or did it come later. Hm,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna let you think go first on this. I
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: got nothing. When did you realize that he was a
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: cut above the other coaches? Yeah? I think after he
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: won three? Yeah, I think. I I mean ninety six
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: for me. What about the twenty in a row, twenty
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: emergence for me, twenty one in a row? Something in
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: there maybe, I mean, I guess it's the body of
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: the work, Like, anybody can win one Super Bowl, any
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: coach can win one super Bowl. After he won three
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: and the two back to back, I started thinking, well,
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: he's he's a pretty damn good coach now, because I was,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: it's probably that's probably the right. I was originally four. Yeah,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: I was originally the not sold on the higher when
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: I heard about it. But and there was I mean,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: the evidence initially was not good, the returns were not good.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: And then even going into the third week of the
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: two thousand and one season, there were some people thinking, oh,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: this could be it if he doesn't have a good season, right,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: But he turned it around. I'd have to say after
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: the third Super Bowl, Joey and al Paso, I liked
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: the acquisition of Parker and really do feel he'll contribute
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: to the offense right off the bat. Is it feasible
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: to get rid of Nikil Harry for a fifth or six?
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Or do you guys feel he isn't even worth that?
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: I get whatever you can get from Wait, what do
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: we want to do? Get rid of Nikil Harry for
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: a fifth or six? Yeah, if somebody will offer, I
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: would drive him to the airport or someone off at
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: a fifth round pick for him. Is it possible the
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Patriots will reevaluate both current offense and defense and try
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: to trade players for draft capital or maybe trade player
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: for player. What are your thoughts? I do I don't
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: think they're done um with act was you know, trading?
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: But it takes two you know, seventy seventy on the
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: roster right now, so they got twenty roster spots as
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: of now, eight draft picks so you know, five six.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I mean I think there will be I'm not sure
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: exactly what the date is when you can start signing
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: free agents that it doesn't affect the compensatory formula. Oh,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I love me some compass. I think they I think
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: they play that game. I think that they absolutely do
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: you know they currently have seventy. You said, right, yeah,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: so let's say the twelve undrafted free agents. If you
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: wanted it, it stayed the same. If it's that everything
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: stayed the same, that's kind of But Mike is absolutely right.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: They'll they'll wait till I think it's in May. I
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: want to say May. Yeah, Um, there's a date that
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: you sign. Even a guy who's an unrestricted free agent,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: not a street free agent, Um, he doesn't count. He
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: no longer counts to that. Yeah, and all pretty much
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: all of the deals that they've signed guys too don't
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: count to the package. And that's intentional as well. It's
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: also white. I have enough good players. But that's the
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: bill and Vista California. With the Parker trade, where do
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: you guys want to go with the number twenty one pick,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Trade down for more picks or get a defensive playmaker.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: I personally would love to pick up Jamison now if
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: available and let him red shirt most of the year,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: especially with how the wide receiver group is looking. Come
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, Thanks crew and ripped a Stell, rip
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: a Stell aka George's mom from Seinfeld. That's right, she
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: just died. I didn't hear about that treating his body
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: like an amusement. I want the defensive player. Oh man,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: everybody's obsessed with Jamison Williams and and I can't help
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: but go in because you didn't like the cut of
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: how many times has that happened over the years, Mike,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I have a litany of guys but I crossed off
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: my board because I didn't like the way they looked.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: And but then you get pushed further into that position
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: when every calls could mean we're gonna get we got
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: get James, and like, I just and it's funny because
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: then you go in and you're like, you know, I'm
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: trying to really be through this year and look at
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: everybody a couple of times and you know, am I
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: being stupid? And I'm like, he's a very good player,
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: but I don't think he's Randy Moss. And people are like,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I mean, if he wasn't hurt, he'd be going in
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: the top five, Like really, like, there's a lot of
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: guys that I like that ten. I don't know about
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: top five, but there's a lot also a bad draft
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: class it is, and I mean, you know, like a
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: guy like Christian Watson who you know, a little bigger size,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: like you know, just and I know, you kind of
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: get to the point where, all right, you got to
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: get the really talented guys up at the top, and
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: you know, a comp that's an early day two pick
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: might not be the same guy. But I don't know.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: I just for me, I think they're in a different
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: place right now. I think where he's gonna go does
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: not match up what they need. And I'm not completely
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: sold that that he's the next superstar of the league.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: No questions asked. I have a question for you that
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: was sparked by a couple of emails ago. Yeah, who
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: do you think will play more games in twenty twenty two?
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Davante Parker, Odell Beckham, park Parker. I mean, I'd probably
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: say Parker just because he's tore it like two to
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: three months before, right and they need him. Look at Paul,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: he's just I don't know what you're getting at. No.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I just I think they probably will end up playing
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: around the same amount of games, just judging by history.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: That's a wise it's a wise guy question. No, because
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: he had said if they signed Odell Beckham, I know
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: I'm not going to retract it right. I think there's
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: probably a better chance that they play roughly the same
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: amount of games. I don't I'd pencilimen for ten or
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: eleven games each because that's what they generally don't think
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Beckham is going to be available till November. November, Yeah, okay,
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: see where he ends up? I mean I also, I mean,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: like the funny part of it is like, well Parker
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: comes back and then he's out again like that, you
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: know that part of it, Like you're assuming that they
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: both come back and they both play all the games. No,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: I'm assuming Parker never plays the games. That's all I'm doing.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: I don't know what he's what his current situation is
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: right now. Yeah, I'm saying he's he doesn't play in
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: the games, like throughout his career, he doesn't play. But
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: if he's able to, I think the Patriots need need him,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: you know. And so Beckham there's still some where's he
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: gonna go our medical No im. If he doesn't sign
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: with anybody who doesn't play, that's I mean, that's a
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: different story. I'm assuming he's going to sign with somebody,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: assuming he's on a team. Yeah, Oka writes, take him.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: So I've heard people ask would you trade Mac for Trevor?
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Got me thinking. Try to answer this as truthfully as
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: you can. Would you have traded Peyton for Tom straight
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: up after the O two season? And would you have
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: traded Tom for Peyton after the O six season? Again,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: thanks for all that you do, and if you get
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: a chance to watch the Lakers Show on HBO, it's
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: a good watch. I have watched the Lakers Show, although
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I haven't seen the most recent effort good It's okay. Yeah,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: I think it takes too many liberties with the truth.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Would have been better with Will Ferrell. Yes. Um, so
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: the question would you trade Peyton Manning straight up for
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I'm Brady after the O two or the O six season?
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: I would definitely have done it after the O two season.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Oh six would have been a much tougher one, but
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I think you can make an argument. Yes, I wonder
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: how many Super Bowls Bill might have been able to
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: win with Peyton Manning. Yeah. Yeah, I wouldn't have done
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: it after six. I just be doing it retroactively because
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: I don't feel like I was that invested in Tom
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Brady at the end of the O two season to
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: really have a feeling about it. At that point. I'm
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: just trying to be honest with myself. After they won
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: the Super Bowl in oh one, I still wasn't convinced
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: that Brady was great. I have to be I have
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: to be honest, like that's I mean, I'm not telling
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: you I thought he sucks because I never thought he sucked,
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: and you were convinced that Manning was Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: that's that he was going to be great. Yeah, okay.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: I also just always hated Peyton Manning's look. I thought
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Brady he's always it's just the perfect looking. Yeah, no
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: need alarm penis head. Yeah, oh the pH Yes, NAF Yes,

- 1:19:46Speaker 1: the marketplace. At Dean College, our students don't just play games,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: We run them. Visit us at Dean dot edu and
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: now great moments in history. Our lads have mac Herron. Yeah,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: they don't do the proper resorts either. I like how
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Paul says, our lads what is it called. It's called
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: our lad our lads, not our lads. I thought it
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: was our lads, our hour. You are our lads? Oh
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: you are? Oh you are? Is one silla owned o. No,
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: it's our No, it's not our hour. It's like yours,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: mine and our R. Yes, it's mine and ours. Yes,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: this this is the kind of nonsense we're gonna get.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: It's our lads. How do you say a R A correct?
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: How do you say are not? You say it's the same,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Oh you are? No, it's not as it is, Oh
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: you are, it's not ours. Not looking up in the dictionary.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: It's not too syllable, you've been Our is not two
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: syllables R and R and not the same thing R
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: and it's pronounced r. It's not our God. That's another
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: great moment, went from all right, welcome back to Patriots unfiltered.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: Those are some of the things you can look forward
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: to day one of the drafts. So I will say
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: this what I like most about the little recaps that
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: matted us as I always hear something that I don't
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: really remember at the time. Yeah, and this time it
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: was deuced in the background. Oh, it was all for
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: you and heard, no one ever heard it. And every
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: time I hear that clip now I'm like, I'm such
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: an idiot just making that joke over and over again.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: And finally like that they're time fall. It's like, oh no,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: I I got it. I got it all right. So
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: like time, time of day, like second minute hour? Oh
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: is the agent that word silent? It is? They alsound
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: the same to me. Yeah, that's that's the that's how
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: that's a difference our You are correct, Mike, how to
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: most of us? Is our house or our house? Our house?
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: Isn't it in the middle of the street. Eric, you
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: you know what a dictionary? You just look it up?
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: You just completely butchered the name of of a town
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: in Massachusetts on a call earlier this morning. Syllable you
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: should easily know. Look it up, Eric, Gloucester, don't take
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: my wooden. I live in Gloucester. Eric, don't take my
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: word for it. Glocester. Eric, do not take my word
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: for it. I don't look I don't take your word
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: for anything. Look it up. How many syllables does ou
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: are have? Look it up. I don't have a dictionary
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: in front of me, I've one upstairs. One print it out.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: We have this thing called the internet. You know, look
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: it up. Don't take my word for it, Matt, go ahead,
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: look it up. How many syllables in the word, oh
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: you are? And what are you saying? One? One? One?
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: He's saying that the word are and oh you are
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: are pronounced exactly the same our one one? There you go,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: and there it is our Paul, and there it is Paul.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: He's trying to he's trying to technology right now, our power.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: Who's saying that's somebody from China? The dictionary, the dictionary pronunciation.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: You told me to look it up. I looked it
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: up in the dictionary, and it has the pronunciation how
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: many audible our? He just said one? Well, I just
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: I'm just playing. I'm not listening to the pronuciation. Let
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: me see that hour, let me see it. So Fred's
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: picking up the phone. Now it has the little it
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: has the little pronunciation. You guys, how you pronounce it?
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Do you hear how it was pronounced? It's one. I
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: don't know how many syllables it is. It's pronounced hour, yeah, hour,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: It is not our. I can't believe we're still arguing this. God,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: never has somebody been wrong the dictionary is wrong. No,
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: the dictionary is not wrong. Hour did you hear how
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: she pronounced one? So it has the pronunciation right here.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: I clicked on it several times. She says. Oh, I
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: don't care about her. I care about what the dictionary says. Yeah,
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: that's the diction. That was the dictionary. It's more of
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: a robot exactly. Oh my god. Anyway, where's Andy? By
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: the way, I put out the call if if he's
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: available day one of the draft. I wanted to respond
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: to that with the eyeballs, but I didn't. Yeah, so
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: if he's available, we'll take it. Do you think I
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: don't know? Why do we want him? About a curiosity?
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: It's like everybody wants Oh do you love the sitcoms
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: when they bring all characters back. How about if we
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: have him for day two of the draft or day three? No,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: day two and that's the day I don't come. I
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: have a thing that nice, what I'll be here? David
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: Wisconsin writes in I apologize if this was brought up already.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Do you think Bill was comfortable trading a third round
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: pick for next season because he'll receive a third round
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: compensatory pick for the Jackson signing. That's the narrative. Assuming
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: the Patriots do get that third round com pick. Yeah,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: I mean I do. I think I think it all
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: feeds into what they do. I think they have it
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: all lined up and and I'm not saying that they're
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: not giving up anything because they'd have three, but I
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: think it's part of their So if it was a
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: third round pick this year, they wouldn't have done it.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: I probably hope not. I would say I hope not.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: I would say no. I just no answer to the question,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: because I don't know what's in builds obviously. I don't
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: think they can't imagine that the determining factor whether or
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: not the trade was made was no, no no, No, it's
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: a third rounder in twenty three. I think I have
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: a compick next year. No, not because of the compick,
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: but I think they want more picks this year, so
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: I don't think they give them a third this year.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: I think they do want more picks this year, and
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: I think that's probably why they asked the fund. It
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: probably went down like, do you mind. I think if
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Miami insisted that the third rounder had to be this year,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: I think the Patriots would have said no. What if
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: it was a fourth rounder this year, maybe because that's
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: the way it works, right, Well, but it's still a
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: pick this year. It's still a pick this year. Yeah.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: I don't think they want to give up picks. I
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: don't think they wanted to either. But I don't think
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: that would have been a deal breaker, that's all. You
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: don't think the player, the veteran player was would be
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: more important. So you think Miami fleece the Patriots. No,
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: it was a good trade for both It was a
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: good trade. Yeah. I think it was a good trade
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: for both sides. I do too, well do I think
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: they're probably trying to work out a number of probably
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: different deals, and I think this was one of the
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: parameters that they wanted to try to stick to, you know,
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: and this was one of the deals that that worked out.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: Like this is a guy that wasn't factoring into what
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: Miami was doing this year, who's been on the trading
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: block for two years. Yeah. No, they did the Tyree
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: Hill now, you know, well among other things. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: they they're loaded. They had to get rid of somebody.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: Do you think I'd love to talk to somebody from
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: Miami to see if there was any kind of impression
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: of how DeVante Parker meshed with Tua and what Tua does. Well.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: I can give you Fitzpatrick, I know the numbers. I
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: could give you a string of emails by a psychotic
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: Miami fan. Oh who emails me all the time. You
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: could not hate DeVante Parker enough and had nothing to
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: do with Two Way at all. Although he thinks two
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: was trash. He's kind of one of those. Yeah, it's
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: kind of one of those negative fans. But I can
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: I'll give you you can read. David also says that
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: the Patriots not made the playoffs this past season, would
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: that have made them eligible for hard knocks in twenty
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: twenty two? I think it much, Oh, because you have
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: to have missed the playoffs for I think that's one
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: of the criteria. I think, Yeah, who is it this year? Due?
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Did they pick Detroit? All right? Right, I'd probably be
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: good with Dan Campbell. Oh yeah, he'll be how he
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: was on with the Rams and now the second time?
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: Didn't the Rams do twice? Miss? I don't know. I
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: think so the Cowboys have done it more than once.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: I think I said it before. There was one thing
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: on on Jared Goff on hard knocks where he wasn't
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: sure what side, what direction the sun came up east
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: or west, Like he couldn't quite figure it out, and
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: like it was like a just kind of a throwaway
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: conversation that they were having a plane and he didn't know,
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: uh yeah, and that kind of that kind of rubbed
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: me the wrong way. I'm like, man, how do you
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: I guess you just got to be I'm a quarterback.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: That's all I really have to do. You know, that's
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: my life. I don't really have to pay attention to
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: things like that. But he didn't know that that was
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: he serious. He seems serious. He doesn't seem like a
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: kind of joker guy that is trying to Bill and DC.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: Paul said he thought ob J and Parker would play
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: about the same number of games this coming season. The
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: actual stats say no. Parker has played almost eighty six
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: percent of his games over the course of his career.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Ob J has played seventy four percent. If you want
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: to bet who plays the most games, it's not even
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: close by the way. It's not close by the way.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Davante Adams has played in a little over eighty nine
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: percent of his games, just a few percentage points better
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: than Parker, and I don't see anyone calling him questionable
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: because of potential injuries. That sounds really high. He's packed
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: because because it's wrong, and I will find out right,
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: thumbs are furiously play eight games last year. I mean,
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: I don't know who Parker pause on it. Yeah, he'll
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: find it. DeVante Adams has never played less than double
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: digit games in his career ever, sixteen games, thirteen games,
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: sixteen games, fourteen games, fifteen games, twelve games, fourteen games,
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: sixteen games like that? Who's that? That's Adams? That's Adams.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: Do another What is the average wind velocity of a
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: davante um? So that's that's he's looking up at the
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: other one now, but that's you know, yeah, that's a
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: formatting issues. Has played fourteen games, fifteen games, thirteen games,
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: eleven games, sixteen once fourteen and then ten, so he's
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: always always miss games and then games like games started
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: even more so, like if you look at it, that's
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: not fair, No, it is fair. First started, Yeah, four games,
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: eight games, seven games and eight games. That means there
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: was games that he played in that he wasn't healthy
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: enough to play, not necessarily, yes, it does not well, no,
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: it couldn't. He's the first round pick. Fred. I know, yeah,
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: But I know what you're saying too, Fred, Like, there's
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: a lot of times, like Crandon Bolden is the starting
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: running back, he goes and that's not the same thing.
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: That's I mean, you get credit for a start if
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: you're on the it's not the same thing when that
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: happened maybe once in Brandon Boldens, but you come out
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: like a two tight ends set with running you know, like,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: so you're taking your back and then and then and
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: then then the second play he goes in. So you're
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: telling me a significant amount of time DeVante Parker just
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: didn't play the first play of the game. It could
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: happen a significant amount of time, some of it that
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: maybe happened once. Oh come on, I'm telling you a
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: guy with that injury history is not starting four out
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: of sixteen games because they went with a three tight
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: end package on the first play of the game and
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: he really played ninety percent of the snaps. It happens.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: The guy's got an injury problem. I mean, I mean,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: it's what any problem. But and so does OBJ. By
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: the way, I'm not suggesting OBJ as an iron man,
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: but I mean seventy something percent to eighty percent. Come on,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: that's a huge difference. They both missed. They both miss
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: a lot of games starts get one miss one misses
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: a little over seven out of ten games, and the
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: other misses a little over six I'm sorry, ten games.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: They're both coming off injuries. It's a worthwhile debate. I
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: asked you this after the year. What injury is Parker
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: coming on? Sorry, no injury. I'm wondering. I don't I
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: haven't heard of anything. I think we would have known.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: My ankles and it seemed like ankles and hamstrings were
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: kind of his. They know miss currently with a blown
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: out knee, right, bowl right, and Parker. My only reason
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: thinking that Parker will play more, it's just because of
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: the two of the injury that ob J. I just
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: don't think he's going to be available. That's the logical
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: answer is I know that OBJ is going to miss
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: a couple of games. But all has a wise guy answer. No,
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: I called it a wise guy. I just don't think
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: that Parker will will hold up. And I'll tell you
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: a few other things about him. He's not a deep threat,
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: he can't run, and he's a contested catch. Guy for
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: the Pots because they don't have anything. That's why it's
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: a good move for the Patriots. If they had, they
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: still don't. According to Miami had a wide receiver corps
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: and they decided it wasn't good enough and got rid
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: of that guy and got Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, right,
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: the guys they wil Yeah, so they now have guys
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: that are better than him. Right, you didn't have that,
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: so you had to acquire that guy. Right. Good, So
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: it is a good move for the Patriots because now
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: you have a guy that's better than what you had. Right,
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: just might not be as good moves, it's not he's Mike.
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: I don't that. I don't think that's a hard thing
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: to differentiate. I think it is a good move for
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: the Patriots. I said this deduce on Saturday. We were
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: you know, I was trying to celebrate my anniversary, right, Paul,
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: I don't care. I had I had to pump the
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: brakes on the anniversary. Nonsense anniversary respect to Lane. I mean,
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: we have to go and get a nice steak. This trade.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: You know, he's a deep threat, who can't get open,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: who's always hurt, so he's not a deep threat. This
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: is what I'm saying. You missed the whole point. People.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: That's another good. That's another misperception. He's not a deep threat.
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: That's I know, that's what Jesus. It was igniting a fire. Right,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: that was good. That was that was good anymore he
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: was was turned in. Christopher walk Brown eggs Uggs Sean
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: from Georgia. Questions from Mike. Question from Mike, when you
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: speak of the offensive needs and how it should function,
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: are you still envisioning Brady's offense for mac Jones. Intermediate
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: passes may not necessarily be his strong points. Just sounds
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: like you're wanting a Brady offensive style. Embrace the new mic.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: It's exciting, remember what Well, so what what is mac
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: Jones's strength? Then? Accuracy? Right? I agree? So he can't
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: throw the intermediate passes. He can no, I mean, get
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: the ball out quick. I mean, I think that's that's
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: the philosophy of the Patriots offense. I mean, you know,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: I think that's what you know. I don't think the
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: offense was Brady like and they're like, oh, here's what
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: we do. You know, I think they had a philosophy
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: that they've stuck to. I just think it's the it's
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: the quick, open, get the ball out, move it run
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: when you have to play action that those are the
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: things that you know, the shots that they take to
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: the you know, to the X with Brandon Cook's play action,
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: you know, pass interferences to those kind of things. But
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: I I'm not sure what you mean. I'm not sure
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: what you mean. What do you what do you we
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: have to read find we have to create a whole
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: new offense now around Mac Jones for what, Like, I
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: think he's played his strengths. Get the ball into guy's
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: hands that can make plays with it. You know, I
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: don't think they have a lot of those guys right now.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: I like some of the what Kendrick Bourne did. But yeah,
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: you know, to Paul's point, I don't. I don't think
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: DeVante Parker is going to be one hundred catch guy
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: here in any sense of the equation. You know, at
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: his best, he's a fifty fifty catches. You know, he's
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: a field stretcher, those kind of things. So I don't know,
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: I look at I look at the offense similar I
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: don't think I look at that month that much different
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: if you were if you were somewhere else unless you've
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: got like twa and you're talking about urpo heavy offenses
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: or you know, then you're really getting into something completely different.
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: But I just think who doesn't look at mac Jones
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: and see some similarities and how they kind of play
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: the game to what Tom did. Uh Still in Seattle
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: in twenty nineteen, we could have had Deebo, Samuel J.
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: Brown or DK Metcalf, any two of the three on
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: the same team, but instead we went Juwan Williams and
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: possibly the worst wide receiver of the top wide receivers drafted.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: So I feel Bill is just not capable of figuring
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: the position. For whatever reason, he had the guys there
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: and chose the wrong player. Now we have a quarterback
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: that has to be carried by elite talent in order
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: to get the most out of his ability. Bill knows
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: more about football than me. Fact, but does he know
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: that his quarterback needs top end talent to be effective?
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: I I mean that's the time. I mean, because they
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: they went out and got a lot of top as
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: much top end talent as they could last offseason, but
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: that was before they got the guy. I mean. It's
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: but they also well I think they did what they could. Yeah,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: Like I don't think they got top end talent. That's
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: why as much as they could. The other part is,
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: you know, and I this is going to sound like
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: I'm kind of waffling, which I hate to do. You
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: guys know, I like to take a stand. Yeah, like pancakes,
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: not with us, but I'll take you the one. On
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: one hand, it's like you gotta get you gotta get
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: him some weapons. You gotta get mac Jones and weapons. Well,
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: was he any good? Like do we have to have
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: a standout player or every position in order to him
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: to be good? Right now? Because we clink. I saw
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: Tom Brady get by with similar cast of characters as
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: this shoemakers and dominate and absolutely dominate. Now, I'm not
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: suggesting that mac Jones should be Tom Brady. That's not
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: fair at all. But yeah, I think that they could
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: use more talent at the receiver positions. But I also
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: think mac Jones has to do more to take advantage.
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: We talked about Aglare earlier. Um, I think Aglau is
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: an NFL player. I think, like Parker, these two guys
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: should help him. Yeah, but he's got to be able
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: to get the ball to them if they don't pan out.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: I don't want it to be like these guys are busts.
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: They're gotta get Max some help, right. I hate that
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: point of view of like, you're great, you got a
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: starting quarterback that you're saddled with now and you have
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: to somehow make it work with him. Like it's just
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: you know, and I said her elier on purpose, like
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: I think he's the quarterback for the next four years.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: I'm not, you know, I'm not convinced that he's here
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: for the next decade yet. But I also feel like
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: I'm not putting him in a box that he's the
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: same guy that walked out last spring, Like he has
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: to be better, he has to improve. And I think
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: if you're coming going into his third or fourth season
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: thinking well, he can't do it alone, then then he's
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: not the guy. Like he has to be able to
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: do something. He has to be able to, you know,
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: get defenses on their heels in a way that we
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: saw very limited last year, but you know, which was
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: still impressive for rookie to do. But he was a rookie.
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: I just haven't I haven't bought in either way that
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: he's stuck and going to be what he is forever
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: or that he's the savior. And I think these next
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: two years are what it's all about. And you want
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: to give him as much chance for success as you can.
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: You want to give him pieces that you know he
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: can instantly have a connection with. I know that's why
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: a lot of the Alabama guys like like Metchi that
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: is appealing, but you know it's you gotta give him
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: some room. I don't think you can judge him. And
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: I just don't like the thought of like, great, we
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: got the guy, but too bad he stinks and he's
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: gonna need like seven superstars around him to be able
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: to be good. Like right, I have higher hopes for
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: I hope that's not the case. Yeah, um Burton Burton
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: Island says, now I've heard it all. Lady Gaga should
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: get an Academy Award because Fred Kirsch didn't know it
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: was Lady Gaga. That was a good one. When you
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: put it like that, she was unrecognizable even look like
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: her hair gift the Oscar to the makeup artist. No,
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: you know what I mean, No, not really, she was
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: immersed in the in the character. I didn't realize it
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: was her, Yeah, what's uh what Phillipan he was a
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: good one where yeah, he's the same guy, but it
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: just it rolled brought something kind of different to it
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: that just it never took me out of it. But
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: he was never astar worthy because I always knew it
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: was Philip Smore. I mean, I was in the business
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: these rooms over here. No, just said made made perfect
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: sense with your experience on the stage. I would assume
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: you would. You would know what I'm talking about. I
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: do know what you're talking about. But I was just
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: surprised that you you went in watching a movie and
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: didn't know who the main characters were. I did I
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: do that all the time. I did, really all the time. No.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: It was like my wife said, oh, let's watch this movie,
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: and I was like, all right, Oh you hadn't heard
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: about it before? No, oh okay, But I go I
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: watch a movie all the time and I don't realize
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: who the actors are. Sometimes you know, and then I
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: sometimes I'll look at the info on TV. It did
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: you recognize de Niro? Oh? Absolutely, because he looked he
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: looked a little bit different too. He's now, but it's
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: den It was just a part like you would I
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: understand what your point is. Adam and the other one
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: driver and you know what's Adam driver? People can't see you,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: uh prominent, but I someone sometimes they could do such
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: a good job with the character and it's it's a
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: different thing than you're used to seeing that. Yeah, And
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: that's what I think Mike's point about Philip Seymour Hoffman
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: is you see him as what's his face? And they
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: call it range Scotty right right, right? I mean they
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: call it range. How different was he in that than
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: you know, thousands of what did you What did you
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: think of the accent that Jared Leto put on, the
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: Italian accent Jared Leto which he played he played the
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: cousin Paul. Oh yeah, he must seem like it was
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: really like over the top done. Yeah. I don't know
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: if that really help the Oscar Fred still didn't know
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: which one Jared Leto was. If you showed me him
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: now out of character, I wouldn't know who he is.
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: I don't know who Jared Leto is. Oh really yeah,
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: as a joker in the suicide Squad. Oh get well,
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: now that's not like I would know who was. But
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: he looks like from that I do know that character.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: He normally look he has like long dark hair that's
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: kind of like. Yeah, I don't know from him. I
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: know the name, but yeah, I don't know what he
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: looks like. That's because he's one of those actors. Yeah
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: that makes himself look completely has ranged, right. Yeah, you
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: know who he was? He was um in fight club,
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: the guy that they just absolutely beat the living hell
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: out of the fights and just pounded his face into oblivion. Okay, oh,
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: what's he in fight club? Yeah? Oh wow, you might
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: not recognizing I did not recognize him after they punched
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: him into oblivion. Yeah, but we're not gonna talk. There's
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: another lost oscar h Let's go another snub? I mean, yeah,
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: snub snub. Yes, it's correct. Um, let's go back to
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: the phones. Five five past five hundred A ticket outline.
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: Ben's in Pittsfield. What's up Ben? Some guys? Hey Ben? Um?
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: How you been? Give me one second? Oh? Never better? Man? Um?
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: Just one thing? Um after UM. I know everyone's saying
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: like um oh, like they're not going to get a
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: receiver in the first round anymore. Is this that I
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: think this could be like an indicator that they will
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: like what how like this could kind of I mean
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: like you guys are just saying, like, Defanza, Parker's nowhere,
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: Like he's not like he's good, like he's better than
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: what we have, but he's not like he's not a
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: Jamar Chase. He's not gonna gonna bring the energy be one.
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: But with him on the roster, now, why can't we
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: if he's there, I wouldn't be surprised if they pick
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: a wide receiver. I would rather have a defensive player
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: at this point. But yeah, I'm not going to be
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: surprised with almost anything they do. A lot of people
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: rule out like the wide receiver a one hundred percent now,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: but I think like if if they were to draft
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: like even John Metchi or Jameson Williams, it's like now
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: they have kind of a safety net to, you know,
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: let them say, it's not as much of a rush
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: to get them up. What I agree with ben On
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: is I don't think Parker is going to have a
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: huge impact on Yeah the pick right, No, I still
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: feel the same, but i'd like get a day two guys.
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: I felt like that before they got him. I feel
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: like this now, Um, I just if they don't if
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: they don't get a receiver, I'll be I'll be I'll
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: be disappointed, be hurt because and any and any of them,
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: I mean, and there are certain ones that I like
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: more than others, and you know all that, but I'm
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: not gonna look a gift receiver in the mouth. Thanks, Ben,
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: appreciate the call. Let's move to Oregon where Brandon's calling
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: in from? What's up? Brandon? It was up, guys, how
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: y'all doing today? Good? All right? Hey, good man? Hey, um,
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: you guys might have already touched on this and are
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: you're just talking about receivers. But I was wondering, out
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: of the current guys on the roster U with a
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: Parker pick up, do you think that pushes somebody out?
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: Like you guys think Harry. Harry's days might be a
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: little number now at this point. I thought they were
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: even before they got Parker. But yeah, probably that's another one.
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: I don't think the Parker has anything to do with
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: the draft, and I don't think Parker has a lot
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: to do with Harry. I think they they're ready to
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: move on. Yeah, yeah, and uh, I kind of t
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: about this the last time I pulled in, But do
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: you guys think that there is any chance, like, what
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: do you guys think the most likely that we moved down,
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: move up, or stay right where we're at at twenty one?
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: Most likely move down? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think I
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: would say moved down, But I mean, I also think
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: there's always an argument to be made to stay put
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: and get an impact talented guy that you know, when
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: you get lower down there's more and more questions. But
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: I would just say messing around with mock drafts and
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: stuff like that the ones I feel best about, or
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: when I have three day two picks and I feel
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: like I checked the most boxes, then I think they
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: need a lot and i'd love to you know, they
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: picked up another pick with Parker, and I think that
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: they have some ability to move around the board a
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: little bit. I just hope they're you know, a nice
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: mix of strategic and not moving all over the place
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: just to move all over the place, but but filling
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: needs and getting and getting talent that that you look
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: at and you say, this is a guy who could
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: come in and do something in a position and need
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: right away. Thanks Brandon, appreciate the call. Careful backing up there. Um,
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: Aaron is in Chicago, He says, am I the only
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: one annoyed by Judean's new position recruiting assistant. Yeah, we haven't.
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: You are not. We haven't hit on anyone noticeable this offseason,
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: and I feel it's not a good look when he's
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: campaigning for anybody and everybody on the market and then
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: they don't come here. Have the Patriots lost their aura
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: to attract notable free agents or is it just an
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: issue with where they are financially? At first, I thought
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: it was funny, but then he kept it kind of going,
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: and then it started to get bad because they weren't
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: signing anybody, you know. And then and that's like, all right,
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: jude On, you know, like we're kind of past the
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: part now where it's exciting for people like these guys.
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: It's it's we're kind of at a point now where,
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: you know, and and it's just there's no way to
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: him to be like Terrence Mitchell, Like no offense of
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: Terrence Mitchell, but like he's you know, recruiting. I would
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: agree with Mike and that, you know, the first one
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: or two was kind of funny, but more so than
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: the fact that they haven't signed any of the guys
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: like Tim. It's almost like it's not a good look
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: to have a player on your team wanting everybody. Yeah,
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: like what is he saying about what you have? Yeah,
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: that's that's like I need some help. These guys around
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: aren't good enough. I need some help. And I know
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: that's probably not what he's saying, but I think that's right, right,
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: So like like like Mike, Mike said, like one or two, Okay,
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: that's that's kind of funny. Since then, it's been virtually
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: everybody like back at it today, back in my computer turner,
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: like you know, and too much. Yeah. And I think
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: it's compounded by the fact that they didn't get any
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: of the guys that he and now he's kind of
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: doing the last one he even I thought, didn't you
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: think the Bobby Wagner one was kind of like he
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: was saying that they signed him. Yep, Like I thought, yeah, again,
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: I think it went from kind of funny to kind
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: of sad. Yeah, And I don't think it's a great
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: look for the team. What the coaches think of that?
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: I wonder that a lot. That a lot, But you
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: know what my point is, you know, why why do
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: we have a player openly, like like one or two
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: guys like you know, like Matt Matt Judon. Say, let's
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: just say for im, he played for Baltimore for all
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: those years. Let's say Marlon Humphrey was available, right, and
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: you know what's up? You don't we love it here?
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: You know? Yeah, Okay, it's a connection there, I get it.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: It's been virtually every prominent free agent, right, and now
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: it's like, what about you? You want to play for
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: the page? H Sulman sending your game again? I lost
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: anyone in a Oh, I can't believe you did that.
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: I can't The Spinner and everything UM. And in the meantime,
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: Andrew and La writes in UM about Davante, I mean
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: about Parker and Adams. They may have started a similar
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: amount of games percentage wise, but Parker would check out
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: of the game pretty frequently. Thank you. Adams looks like
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: an iron man in comparison, because the Parker's flurry of
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: lower body injuries, especially in his feet and ankles, is
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: that like check out? Yeahysic physical, Like That's what I'm saying. Like,
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: I know you guys don't agree with he plays, but
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: then he stops playing. No, I think those games that
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: he's not starting, he's not really playing it. This is
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: what like, I don't have it in front of me,
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: I don't you. You probably have an easy way of
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: lookout percentage of snaps played and stuff like that. But yeah,
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: I know you don't want to look it up because
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: you know what will probably show anybody. Anybody that watches
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: DeVante Adams play and DeVante Parker play and thinks that
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: they're similar in terms of their durability is wrong. You
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: have a similar name. Um, this is the game because
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: the gumailed about, he says, or any of you playing wordle? Yeah,
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: I play? Do you play? Eric? Why not use? But
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: well the way you answered it? No, that's not isn't
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: that how he just said it? Yes, absolutely not. You
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: were very not how I said it in my head.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: I never tell you how I read it. I read
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: it that I have no time for that. No, no, no,
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: he has plenty of time for it. He plays a
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: bunch of other games like that. Okay, but everybody else
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: is doing that one, right all right? Yeah, so you
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: don't like why I read it? You don't like word
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: all Eric, I don't know. I've never done it, So
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: then why are you so dismissive. I'm not so dismissive. No, Mike,
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: you play world. He does, Yes, you do? W I
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: do excitedly. I don't do it. But I start off
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: my morning by doing work. I do a cross word,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: and then I email what I did to my mother
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: in lawn. She emails or text me back what she did.
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: So we have a little competition going how always competing
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: most of the time. She's very good. Like scrabble player,
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: what's your what's your first word? I don't have a
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: set first word. No, No, I try to guess what
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: the creators are doing. Oh, you just try to get
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: into bring it into the from the universe. Although I
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: like to get rid of s first, so that I
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: get rid of any plural chance you know. Yep, yeah,
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: I am. I got a pretty good method. Um. I
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: like it. I feel like I'm on a good run
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: right now. But I always start with with swear. Swear,
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: and I like it. And you're supposed to use you
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: know something with all the vowels. I'm like, but then
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: you just know what vowels you got. I don't know
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: how are my brain works. I like to start with
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: all right, and then I try to work with Team Next.
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: So I've never played. Yep, I am aware of the
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: game because I don't live under a rock, and it's
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: flooded into my Twitter timeline because evidently all of you
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: people have to tell everybody people just the way that
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: might just explained it to me. Will that will forever?
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: I mean, I will never play it like this because
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: like it's not just fun. You have to have like
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: a system. You don't know, I don't that's how I work,
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: but that's I mean, if you if you want to
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: be good, like you have to words, you know. Yeah,
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: and Eric, Eric's the word game. I don't need. I
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: don't know. I play another games. What would good for you?
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: And by the way, I am by no means above it.
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: I do a crossword puzzle, which he does eighty five
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: years old. He's kicked us out of his office. Many
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: do a crossword puzzle every morning. I know you do.
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: I just like you can only do one. It's a
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: good way to start the day. You're not going to
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: get wrapped up. And I played World like you got one.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: It gets your brain kind of thinking words and then
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: you know you're out. But no, I would like it
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: if it was just like sort of you know, let's
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: see if he can guess the stupidest things and how
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: but like there's a set first word you used to
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: some people. Fred tries to get inside the head of
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: his creator, of the creator. Yeah, why do you think
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: they chose five letter words? That's the most common number
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: of I don't English language, I don't know, don't know,
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: but it's uh, that would be. It's always maddening when
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: they use a letter twice, which I don't like that.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: I don't like that. I think they did did that
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: today they did well, like if you pick a letter
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: you also you can't. I going to explain all the rules.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: If you're interested, go find out, Like if it was
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: because you were so dismissive, I wasn't. Now you want
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: to know about it. We're a little bit dismissive, just
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: a little bit, just a little bit. You can actually
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: print it out and then you're mailing each guess and
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: then they mail it back to you. All right. Anyway.
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: The only thing that annoys me, we're gonna run out
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: of time for sulman. Oh we haven't say yes. Yes,
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: I thought I thought we were missing. I thought we
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: were riffing, all right, And the reason I brought up
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: word or any of you play mutual. This weekend I
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: found out there's any NFL version called Wettle where you
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: need to guess the player. I've gotten addicted to playing
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: Wordle and now Wettle Eric. I thought, I try to
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: make a similar game for you based on Patriots player.
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: They can be current or former. First read off the year,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: which indicates the first season this person played on the Patriots.
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: Then read hint too, which is position. Third hint indicates
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: how the player got onto the team, fourth is college,
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: and the last hint is his initials. Ead off one
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: at a time to allow for guesses. Best of luck.
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: All right, ready, and these aren't five letter names right now,
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: just names in general. No, um two thousand and five,
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: so that's his first year he was on the team.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: That's not Oh, yes, that's correct. Tackle is this position?
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: Logan Mankins, No, you're out drafted in the third round.
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: I could add another one in here, but Ellis Hobbs,
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: I know you're out, So it's just Paul Toledo, Nick
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: Casure right, Oh he did say tackle, right, yeah? Yeah.
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: Nineteen nine very impressive on my part. I needed the
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: four clues. Nineteen ninety two oh boy, he's a fullback.
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: Sam Gash. Sam Gash is correct? Now? Is that that's good?
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: Right too? Yeah? Now you would you would share that?
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: Do you know what round? He was drafted in? Tough
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: one eighth. That's right, Paul got it. That's almost a
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: trick question, right right. Two thousand and three, he's a
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: safety you ge Wilson? Nope? Free agent Rodney Harrison right?
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: Drafted all right? Um? Three more? Two thousand and fourteen,
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: he's a wide receiver, yes, say that, but wow, we
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: could call that poodle p Paul is won by default.
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: But we'll keep going. Two thousand and seventeen, but not
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: our home runs. Two seventeen defensive tackle. He was a
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: free agent out of Arizona. Arry Larry guy, that's right, Larry,
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: I was like two thousand one. Two thousand and one,
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: he's a linebacker. Two thousand and one linebacker, free agent
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: mikeble No, no, uh uh, we're out. Uh. Why can't
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: I think of his name? He tackled Jerome Paython, No,
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: the big hit on Jerome Paton. Why can't I think
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: of his quote? Big hips, Yes, I'll give you. I
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: have other guests. He went to Rice. Thanks, Sulman especially, Yeah,
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: a little. It was a little twist on the game.
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: My game the other guy does right right, Ye, I
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: like it. Great job with the game, Great job right there,
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: especially because I dominated, dominate, dominate. Do you guys see Megan?

- 1:56:49Speaker 1: for for some time together. No, I'm always happy for
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: her when she's all like I did. I was dress.
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: Friday night, they had one of like the pre shows
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: for WrestleMania, and my brother texts me out of know where.
