What Do We Really Know About Trauma and Substance Use?
In this episode of One in Ten, host Teresa Huizar speaks with clinical psychologist and researcher Dr. Nick Morelli about the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and substance use in young adulthood. Drawing on data from LongSCAN, a 30-year longitudinal study of child abuse and neglect, Morrelli describes four distinct patterns of substance use identified among young adults at age 24: abstainers, smokers, depressant users, and poly users.
