- 0:03This is Living Waters of Grace, the teaching ministry of Clark
- 0:08Wofford, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel of Westmoreland,
- 0:12County of Greensburg, PA. Now here's Pastor Clark as he
- 0:16continues teaching through God's Word.
- 0:37Consequences of believing a lie. That's why the apostle Paul
- 0:40every time we take the Lord's Supper, he says to examine
- 0:44yourself, whether you're in the faith every time that supper
- 0:48goes around, would the God, if any of us here are posers and
- 0:52we're not Christians, that we would take that we would examine
- 0:55ourselves and we'd hear the Spirit of God say you're still
- 0:58lost, you're phony, you need to get saved.
- 1:01And if you hear that, be thankful that he's shown you
- 1:06that you are in delusion. It's not enough to speak
- 1:08spiritually or to fill your head with knowledge of the Lord and
- 1:12just His Word. Being a believer, true in faith
- 1:15is something that we feel in our hearts.
- 1:17It's the difference between merely performing outward
- 1:20displays of what we think a Christian should look like and
- 1:24walking in close, continual relationship with the Lord.
- 1:29Today, Pastor Clark teaches us that true faith is what changes
- 1:33us from the inside out, molding us and shaping us into the
- 1:37people God intended us to be. Now here's Pastor Clark in
- 1:41Revelation Chapter 19 with today's edition of Living Waters
- 1:45of Grace. Revelation 19, Verse 11.
- 1:49Now I saw heaven opened, and behold a White Horse.
- 1:52And he who sat on him was called faithful and true, and in
- 1:57righteousness he judges and makes war.
- 1:59His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on his head were many
- 2:03crowns. He had a name written that no
- 2:06one knew except himself. He was clothed with a robe
- 2:10dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God.
- 2:13And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and
- 2:17clean, followed him on white horses.
- 2:20Now out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he
- 2:24should strike the nations, and he himself will roll them with
- 2:28the rod of iron. He himself treads the winepress
- 2:32of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God, And he has on his
- 2:37robe and on his sigh a name written King of kings and Lord
- 2:42of Lords. Now if you look in Revelation
- 2:44chapter 19 and you see in verse 8, and this is referring to the
- 2:50marriage supper of the Lamb that we studied about several weeks
- 2:52ago. And This Is Us who are in heaven
- 2:55at this particular time, the wonderful time where he says I
- 2:58so long to eat of this bread and drink this cup, but I won't do
- 3:03it again until we're all together in heaven.
- 3:05And so the celebration of the marriage supper of the Lamb is
- 3:08the first time in history after Christ's ascension that he'll
- 3:13partake of this supper with his bride.
- 3:16What a glorious day that'll be. We're all going to have that
- 3:19privilege to be there if we're believers and celebrate that
- 3:22time. And not only will we have this
- 3:23privilege of celebrating this wonderful, glorious supper, but
- 3:27he says it'll be granted to us. It will be arrayed in fine
- 3:30linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts
- 3:34of the Saints. And so the Lord will cover us
- 3:37with his glory, with his brightness, with his
- 3:40righteousness. And we'll all be sitting around
- 3:42white as snow, pure, no sin, no problems anymore, no difficulty
- 3:48with struggles in this world because we'll be in His
- 3:51presence. And the righteousness that we
- 3:53have is this righteousness of Jesus Christ, because none of us
- 3:57are righteous in and of ourselves, are we?
- 3:59We can't stand before God and this act like we have it
- 4:02together, because we don't. We only have it together because
- 4:05of what Jesus has done for us. And so he allows us to wear
- 4:09these robes of righteousness, these pure white robes and the
- 4:14robes tied together in the fact that it says these righteous
- 4:18acts of his Saints. Now everything we do in this
- 4:21earth in the name of Jesus and by His Spirit is recorded in a
- 4:26book. And when God opens those books
- 4:30at the judgement seat of Christ for the body, for the believers,
- 4:33for the church, he'll judge out of that book the things we did
- 4:37in the body, whether they're good or evil.
- 4:40And I would trust that you and myself, we want to have as much
- 4:43possible written in that book that is good.
- 4:46Amen. Not evil, because what is
- 4:49goodwill come out as gold, silver, and precious stone.
- 4:52What is evil will be burned and it'll be destroyed in the fire.
- 4:56So keep in mind that we're saved by grace through faith in Christ
- 5:00alone. But at the same time there is
- 5:02this responsibility for us to do the things that He told us to
- 5:06do. For it says in Ephesians 210 For
- 5:08we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus.
- 5:11Unto what good works which God hath before ordained, that we
- 5:15should walk in them. And at that final day, the Lord
- 5:18says, Well, why call you me Lord, Lord, and do not the
- 5:20things which I say. So the Lord ties a very strong
- 5:24emphasis on the fact that if we have true faith, it's going to
- 5:28be seen by what we do right. It's going to be seen by how we
- 5:32live, how we follow his word, how we listen to what he says.
- 5:36Now when we look at 19, it says about the Lord Himself when he's
- 5:42coming with us in 13, it says he's clothed with a robe dipped
- 5:46in blood, and his name is called the word of God in 14.
- 5:49And the armies in heaven clothed in fine linen.
- 5:52That's the same group that we just looked at in verse 8.
- 5:56That's us. The armies clothed in fine
- 5:59linen, white and clean, followed him on white horses.
- 6:03So we see the distinction here between, as I read earlier, the
- 6:07rapture of the Church one event, and the second coming of Christ,
- 6:13which occurs at the end of the tribulation.
- 6:15Now I'm going to give you a couple parallels here so you can
- 6:18keep in your mind the distinction between the rapture
- 6:22and the second coming of Christ. First of all, as I said, the
- 6:26rapture is the catching away of all believers, those who are
- 6:29presently alive on the earth at the time of the trumpet sound,
- 6:33and those who are in the graves, their bodies will be actually
- 6:36literally resurrected out of the graves, and their spirits who
- 6:39are with the Lord will meet together with the body.
- 6:42And then the Lord will give us these new bodies which are going
- 6:46to be glorious without corruption in the second coming.
- 6:49There is no lifting up of believers from the face of the
- 6:53earth to meet the Lord. We're coming back with the Lord,
- 6:55right? It's a separate event #2 the
- 7:00raptured Saints. We go to be with the Lord, the
- 7:05second coming. We're coming back, as I said, to
- 7:08the earth. Now in the rapture, the earth is
- 7:11not judged yet, but in the second coming of Christ, the
- 7:15earth will be judged. The rapture is imminent.
- 7:18As I said earlier, any moment it could happen.
- 7:20Today I was watching a video, pretty cool, this pastors
- 7:23preaching about the rapture and people were sitting out there
- 7:26with their Bibles and all this. And he said, and it could happen
- 7:29right now. And all of a sudden, like
- 7:31there's all these people disappear and then there's like
- 7:33a few people sitting there looking around like what
- 7:36happened? You know, what about me, you
- 7:38know? And they realized they weren't
- 7:39true believers. They saw on the ground and got
- 7:42on their knees. Now the good news is even after
- 7:44the rapture, people will still have an opportunity to get
- 7:46saved. The Lord will still be saving
- 7:49people, but they'll have to go through the tribulation.
- 7:52The second coming of Christ follows definite predicted signs
- 7:57that we see throughout the tribulation.
- 8:00And 1st Thessalonians chapter 5 talks about the Day of the Lord,
- 8:03which is a period of time from the beginning of the rapture,
- 8:07when we're taken out to the end of time, through the Millennium,
- 8:10through the tribulation, to the end of time when the Lord
- 8:13creates the new heavens and the new earth.
- 8:15So it's a completely different time segment.
- 8:18The rapture effects believers only.
- 8:20The second coming effects all people.
- 8:23Those of us who come back with Christ to the earth and all
- 8:26those who are in the earth will start to battle against the Lord
- 8:29and His army. The rapture happens before the
- 8:33tribulation, before God's wrath. The second coming concludes at
- 8:39the end of the tribulation in regard to Satan.
- 8:45When the rapture occurs, there's no reference to what happens to
- 8:48Satan at the second coming of Christ.
- 8:51We see that Christ binds Satan for 1000 years during the
- 8:55millennial reign. The rapture Christ comes for his
- 8:59own and the second coming. Christ is coming with his own
- 9:03and the rapture. Christ comes in the air.
- 9:06In the second coming He comes to the earth and the rapture Christ
- 9:10claims His bride. In the second coming He comes to
- 9:14the earth with his bride in the rapture.
- 9:18Only his own will see him in the second coming.
- 9:21The Bible says every eye shall see him in the rapture.
- 9:26The tribulation begins right after we are taken out, and the
- 9:30millennial Kingdom begins at the second coming.
- 9:36There's enough information in the scriptures to make it clear
- 9:40that the raptures are quite different event than the second
- 9:44coming of Jesus Christ. And the reason I bring this up,
- 9:47there's a lot of confusion regarding these things in the
- 9:50body of Christ today. You have people who are pre
- 9:53Trib, mid Trib, post Trib, all millennial, post millennial, all
- 9:56these different end time views, eschatological end time views.
- 10:00We Calvary Chapel are historic pre mill, pre Trib in the sense
- 10:06of our eschatology and we're not alone.
- 10:08Good Bible teachers that you listen to in a radio like John
- 10:11MacArthur or Charles Lindahl, Charles Stanley, a lot of you
- 10:15guys listen, I know to some of these people there, they take
- 10:18the same position we do. So we're in good company with
- 10:21credible Bible scholars. However, I said this isn't
- 10:24anything to divide on with people who have different
- 10:27positions. The good news is whenever the
- 10:30Lord comes back to all realize we're right and they were wrong,
- 10:33but if they're in Christ, we're all going to love each other
- 10:35anyway and it's not going to matter.
- 10:37But it is important in regard to how we're preparing for the
- 10:42Lord's return and how we live in light of that return.
- 10:45So let's look at the section that we're going to spend some
- 10:48time on Revelation chapter 19. As we see in verse 11, the
- 10:53heaven is open and behold a White Horse, a physical animal,
- 10:58a horse. We're all going to be riding
- 10:59horses when we come back with the Lord at the second coming.
- 11:02Now I don't like riding horses. I'm afraid of getting on them
- 11:05because they can go out of control, you know, and unless
- 11:07you're are really trained to tell it what to do, it just has
- 11:10a mind of its own. But the good news is when we
- 11:12come back with the Lord, don't worry about that.
- 11:13We're going to get on the horse. The horse is going to know
- 11:16exactly where it's going, what it's supposed to do.
- 11:18We're just going to have to hold on.
- 11:20That's all we're going to have to do.
- 11:21But Christ is going to come back on this beautiful White Horse
- 11:24and we're all going to ride with him.
- 11:26And it says he who sat on him was called faithful and true
- 11:30capital F capital T in your Bibles and righteousness.
- 11:34He judges and makes war. Now, this is a time that I think
- 11:37every one of us should be looking forward to.
- 11:40I was thinking about the world the way it is today and the
- 11:43complete ignorance that it has toward the things of God, this
- 11:47independence of a Creator. Sometimes you wish you had this
- 11:51power in you, and we do. We have the Holy Spirit's power
- 11:53in us, but we don't have the power to bring forth judgment,
- 11:56do we? Only Christ has that power and
- 11:58authority. Sometimes you just long for
- 12:01certain people you know that will realize that God is the
- 12:05Lord. Amen.
- 12:06People that scoff and ridicule and laugh at you and reject you
- 12:10and think you're nuts. You just can't wait for the day
- 12:14that they realize how real God is and how holy is and how just
- 12:18and how glorious he is. But this is the day that we have
- 12:22to wait for when Christ comes and the liberal thought the day
- 12:25is I'm not a Sinner. Why would he be talking about
- 12:28sin? I'm a good person and how
- 12:31there's no such place as hell. I would not even acknowledge
- 12:35that a place like that exists, some might say.
- 12:38Someone told me recently that a relative went to a neighbor and
- 12:41was telling the neighbor boy about the importance of knowing
- 12:44Jesus Christ and accepting Him as your Savior.
- 12:47Because if you don't have him as your Savior and you're Lord,
- 12:50you'll suffer the consequences one day of eternal hell.
- 12:53And the mother came over very angry and very disturbed that
- 12:58this young man had told her son about hell.
- 13:02And she said, we don't believe in such a place.
- 13:05That's morbid. We would never accept anything
- 13:08like that. Well, her authority certainly
- 13:10isn't the word of God, is it? And sometimes it's difficult for
- 13:14us because if we are Christians, we have to proclaim everything
- 13:18that this Bible teaches, even when it makes people disturbed
- 13:22and when it makes them uncomfortable.
- 13:25And that's the difference between churches in these last
- 13:27days that are proclaiming the truth and churches that are
- 13:31proclaiming the lie. But there is this liberal
- 13:34thought today. There is no place in this world
- 13:36today for any idea of judgment. There's no consequences for sin.
- 13:42We make up God in our own image and and how we want to think
- 13:45about him. That's what's called
- 13:47universalism. This pretense and delusion today
- 13:50that people have will one day be very, very costly.
- 13:54If you look at Matthew Chapter 7 for a moment, the slip in your
- 13:57Bible over to the left Matthew Chapter 7, it says in verse 21
- 14:03of Matthew 7, not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord shall
- 14:08enter into the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will
- 14:10of my Father in heaven. You want to underline it in your
- 14:13Bible. It isn't enough this to say you
- 14:14believe in Christ, but you need to be doing his will like Jesus
- 14:20when he was on earth. He's perfect God, perfect man.
- 14:22He says my will is to do the will of the Father and if we're
- 14:27his offspring, then we should have the same desire in our
- 14:30hearts to do the will of the Father.
- 14:32He said, many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we
- 14:35not prophesized in your name, cast out demons in your name and
- 14:39done many wonders in your name? And then I will declare to them,
- 14:42I never knew you. Depart from me, you who practice
- 14:46lawlessness. And won't that be a shock to
- 14:48your whole life, thinking you're on the right track and you're
- 14:51doing the right things? But meanwhile, your heart is
- 14:53just not pure because you haven't allowed Christ to save
- 14:57you. And so you're trying to be a
- 14:59religious person. I think of all the institutions
- 15:02on the face of the earth today, many churches are very
- 15:04religious. They have statues, they have
- 15:07crosses, they have icons, They have all kind of spiritual
- 15:10atmosphere. And yet Jesus would say many
- 15:14times he could say to us today, just because we have a dove that
- 15:17represents the Holy Spirit of the cross here, He could say
- 15:20these people worship me with their lips, but their heart is
- 15:24far from me. And so the consequences of
- 15:27believing a lie. That's why the apostle Paul
- 15:30every time we take the Lord's Supper, he says to examine
- 15:34yourself, whether you're in the faith every time that supper
- 15:38goes around. Would the God, if any of us here
- 15:40are posers and we're not Christians that we would take
- 15:43that we would examine ourselves and we'd hear the Spirit of God
- 15:46say you're still lost, you're phony, you need to get saved.
- 15:51And if you hear that, be thankful that he's shown you
- 15:55that you are in delusion. But if we can take that supper
- 15:59and we allow the Spirit to examine us and we have that
- 16:02assurance, blessed assurance, Jesus is mine.
- 16:06Oh, by the foretaste of glory, define air salvation purchased
- 16:10of blood, born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.
- 16:14We can know that for sure, can't we?
- 16:17We have that assurance in us or our heart does not condemn us.
- 16:21God, the Lord Jesus Christ comes with crowns of triumph and glory
- 16:27and deity as we see here in this section of Revelation.
- 16:30He's all knowing. He has flaming eyes.
- 16:33His eyes and verse 12 are like a flame of fire, a holy judgement.
- 16:38Christ, as He looks upon you and me.
- 16:41His Word, the Word of God, is the instrument of His righteous
- 16:45judgement. Look at Hebrews chapter 4.
- 16:47Just move over to the left there a little bit a few books.
- 16:50Hebrews chapter 4 verse 11 through 13.
- 16:57It says. Let us therefore be diligent to
- 16:59enter that rest lest anyone fall according to the same example of
- 17:05disobedience. For the word of God and the
- 17:08Bible declares Christ as the Word.
- 17:10In the beginning was the Word and the word was with God and
- 17:14the Word was God. John chapter one verse one.
- 17:17Not like the Jehovah witnesses would say in the beginning was
- 17:20the Word and the word was with God and the Word was a God.
- 17:24No, Jesus Christ is God, not a created being.
- 17:28He's the second person of the Trinity, God the Father, God the
- 17:32Son, God the Holy Spirit, self existent, always existing of 1
- 17:37essence with the Father. It says the word of God is
- 17:40living and powerful and sharper than any 2 edged sword, piercing
- 17:44even the division of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow.
- 17:48And as a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
- 17:50heart. You know, when we sit here and
- 17:52we examine ourselves in the Lord's Supper, I can just
- 17:54picture like the sword picking away at my heart, pulling stuff
- 17:58back. Clark, I want you to see this.
- 18:00I want you to acknowledge this. I want you to recognize this.
- 18:02I want you to let this go. Let me purify you, let me
- 18:08carterize these places of bankruptcy in your heart, and
- 18:12let my spirit make your heart dislike mine.
- 18:16He's a discerner. He knows every thought and
- 18:19intent of our heart. He knows every motive.
- 18:21And verse 13, it says there's no creature hidden from his sight.
- 18:25God sees the whole earth. He sees the whole world.
- 18:28He sees every human being, all things are naked and open to the
- 18:32eyes of him with whom we must give an account.
- 18:35There's nothing I can hide. I can hide things from you, You
- 18:38can hide things from me, but we can't hide anything from the
- 18:42Lord God. In verse 13, it says he was
- 18:45clothed with a robe dipped in blood and his name is called the
- 18:49Word of God, the judgement that confronts God's enemies in
- 18:55Isaiah chapter 63. If you flip over there in the
- 18:58Old Testament, Isaiah chapter 63, this talks about this
- 19:03Armageddon, this final battle, one day that will come upon this
- 19:07earth and his second coming, the consequences of those who are
- 19:12going to fight against the Lord. Who is this who comes from Edom
- 19:18with dyed garments from Borzraw? This one who is glorious in his
- 19:21apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength?
- 19:25And this is what we see depicted in Revelation 19.
- 19:28I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
- 19:31Why is your apparel read in your garments?
- 19:34Like one who treads in the winepress?
- 19:36Again, the same verbiage that's used in Revelation.
- 19:39I've trodden the winepress alone and from the people.
- 19:42No one was with me, for I've trodden them in my anger, and I
- 19:45trampled them in my fury. Their blood is sprinkled upon my
- 19:49garments. So what we see represented by
- 19:51Christ is this battle that will ensue when He comes back.
- 19:56For the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my
- 20:00redeem has come. I look, but there was no one to
- 20:02help, and I wondered that there was no one to uphold.
- 20:05Therefore my arm brought salvation for me and my own
- 20:09fury. It sustained me.
- 20:11I've trodden down the people in my anger, made them drunk in my
- 20:14fury, and brought down their strength to the earth.
- 20:19His name is called the Word of God.
- 20:23Jesus is a visible word of the unseen God.
- 20:27I love what it says in Hebrews regarding Christ himself.
- 20:31In Hebrews chapter one verse 3, Hebrews chapter one verse 3, it
- 20:36says about Christ, who being the brightness of his glory in the
- 20:40express image of His person, on upholding all things by the word
- 20:44of his power. When he sat down by himself, He
- 20:47purged or cleanse us from our sins.
- 20:49He sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high, sat down on
- 20:53the right hand of the Father. He's the express image of his
- 20:58Father. And so as we look at this
- 21:01section of revelation, we understand that we're going to
- 21:06be with the Lord when he comes back.
- 21:09And as I described the difference between the rapture
- 21:12of the church and the second coming Christ, when he comes
- 21:15back and the second coming, his role will be absolute and
- 21:19authoritative. It'll be seen as an iron roll,
- 21:23invincible in this world. When he's rolling and reigning
- 21:27on this earth, there will be no more corrupt governments.
- 21:30There will be no immorality rolling and raging on the
- 21:34televisions and on the Internet, in the airwaves.
- 21:37It'll be a time of purity and righteousness, and nothing will
- 21:42be dealt with like it has been in that time compared to the way
- 21:47it is right now. Sometimes we wonder, why do the
- 21:50wicked rage, as the psalmist said, and the people imagine a
- 21:53vain thing? Why is it that people refuse to
- 21:56see their need of a Savior? Why is it that they refuse to
- 22:00repent? Christ has given Himself
- 22:02everything on behalf of the human race upon the lost, upon
- 22:06the Sinner, and the world keeps pushing their hands away from
- 22:09Him. During this time in the
- 22:11millennial Kingdom, when Christ rules with an iron hand for 1000
- 22:15years, there'll still be people born on the face of the earth.
- 22:19During that thousand years, there'll be sinners that will be
- 22:21born that will one day once again rise up at the end of that
- 22:25thousand years in anarchy, at the final battle of Gog and
- 22:28Magog. And that's right prior to the
- 22:31destruction of the earth, when the Bible says there will be a
- 22:34new heaven and a new earth that will be created.
- 22:39So his role will be unlike anything that we're experiencing
- 22:43today. Now, we have to keep in mind
- 22:45though, that God's hand is still on the universe.
- 22:48That never was off of it. Sometimes we wonder though,
- 22:51don't we, God, how could you let this happen?
- 22:53Why did this go on? There's a purpose and a reason
- 22:56for everything that happens in human history.
- 22:59God's never sleeping. He's never ignoring the
- 23:02heartache and the pain of his people.
- 23:05Israel had to cry out for many hundreds of years before God
- 23:08sent a deliverer, didn't they? Before God sent Moses to pull
- 23:12them out of the bondage and horror?
- 23:15Living under Pharaoh's regime, I think about the Jews and the
- 23:19Holocaust and those who cried out for help and for mercy.
- 23:22God was not silent in that time where He had many Christians
- 23:28helping the Jews find a place of safety and to get out of the
- 23:32country. So they weren't killed in the
- 23:35ovens, but many were. But God was there, as He will be
- 23:38even during the Tribulation when people were going through
- 23:42tremendous horror and heartache and heartbreak.
- 23:44And yet he'll have still on the earth a remnant, 144,000 people
- 23:49who will be going around sharing the good news of Jesus Christ,
- 23:53saying it isn't too late. Repent.
- 23:57Thanks for being with us today here on Living Waters of Grace.
- 24:01We're in the Book of Revelation, and we find it fascinating how
- 24:04influential and involved the angels are in this book.
- 24:09They bring about whatever it is that God has instructed them to
- 24:13do, but it's through their actions that much of the
- 24:17judgements come on the earth. The angels are in submission to
- 24:20God as their authority, but He utilizes them in unique ways
- 24:25throughout this book. Like angels have a specific
- 24:28purpose from God, you have a unique purpose and plan too.
- 24:32God wants to use you in your life as a testimony to others
- 24:36and to bring others who are currently lost into the fold of
- 24:39God. God would love more than
- 24:42anything for all who are willing to come to Him for salvation,
- 24:46but He wants it to be their choice, not a forced situation.
- 24:51This is the way God works, not forcing himself on anyone, but
- 24:55giving each person free will. If you're interested in learning
- 24:59about this choice that's free and that it's a gift, go to
