Transcript
- 0:07Let me you hear i got something you need to hear turn the volume up so it's
- 0:12loud and clear a podcast where we talk about politics and culture has stupid
- 0:16no limits like a 504 soldier we're not pretenders ain't no agendas our only
- 0:21plan is to keep it 100 and do it for the fam yeah.
- 0:28What up, what up, what up? What's going on? Same old same. I'm Six Mill,
- 0:33keeping it true. It's your boy KG.
- 0:36Welcome to episode 17 for the FAM Podcast. Yes, sir.
- 0:42What's up with you, brother? How you been? You all right? Yeah, man, I can't complain.
- 0:46You know, I've been fighting off a cold all week, but I think I was successful, knock on wood.
- 0:52Cool, cool, cool. Man, it's so crazy, man. You know that old saying,
- 0:59what a difference a day makes.
- 1:00Oh, man. I mean, we didn't record last week.
- 1:04So in these two weeks, the news, the headlines, everything has been just crazy,
- 1:11which is why we say we're not going to try and chase headlines.
- 1:15I mean, it's just too much to keep up with. Yeah.
- 1:20Just nuts, man. But with all of that being said, what are we going to get into today?
- 1:26So today we want to talk about AI and education. So basically the impact,
- 1:30overall impact on on teaching and and learning for the children.
- 1:36OK, cool. Cool. Sounds good. You want me to start? You want to start? Take it away, brother.
- 1:41All right, cool. Let me let me just start by saying that we are not anti-AI.
- 1:49We are not anti-technology.
- 1:53We are, I guess, coming at this from.
- 1:58From the perspective of AI being used as a tool and not as replacement.
- 2:07So as we journey through this conversation, through this topic,
- 2:11keep in mind, we're always looking at AI to be used as a tool.
- 2:16And if you use a tool properly, it can be very useful, very helpful.
- 2:23And if you use it erroneously, you know, bad things can happen.
- 2:30So so that's that's sort of how we want to approach this conversation.
- 2:35And I guess I'm going to start by by giving a few pros as to what AI can can, I guess, be useful.
- 2:47And I guess I'm coming at this as a replacement for a teacher, not the tool aspect.
- 2:56Like I said, we have no issue with the tool aspect of it.
- 3:00So I'm coming at this from a form of replacement.
- 3:05And if you think that that's far-fetched, if you think that AI would not replace
- 3:12teachers, maybe not in classrooms, that threat may not be imminent.
- 3:19But what about for online courses?
- 3:22I mean, how easy would it be for AI to run an online course?
- 3:28So, I mean, when you look at it like that, it doesn't seem that far fetched or that far off.
- 3:35In fact, someone is probably already trying to use it. Right.
- 3:41So so so so anyway, I'm doing I'm doing rambling a few a few pros as far as A.I., I think.
- 3:52It would be very efficient as far as like creating a syllabus or a lesson plan for a six-week course.
- 4:01I think that would be, you know, something where the efficiency of it would be excellent.
- 4:08I think the ability to detect when a student is struggling.
- 4:18But also on the flip side of that, everyone doesn't learn at the same rate.
- 4:24So I think while that could be an advantage, it could also be a disadvantage
- 4:29because I think a teacher would be able to pick up on, hey, this kid isn't dumb.
- 4:35Maybe I just need to explain it a different way where AI would just stick to
- 4:39here's the explanation, here's the rules and let's get with it.
- 4:45One of the things I heard from a teacher was that kids between kindergarten
- 4:49and eighth grade don't understand. They're not always media literate,
- 4:52so they don't always understand that AI.
- 4:55You and I have had this conversation when you first started with Gemini,
- 4:58how confidently wrong AI can be.
- 5:04So if you're a teacher, you're at home with your family and this child is at
- 5:08home trying to stay a day ahead with homework or research. and they don't understand
- 5:13that what they might be writing down is completely wrong.
- 5:17But that's also one of the pros, while you just stated, while that could be
- 5:21a con, that can also be one of the pros is the 24-7 access.
- 5:26You know, they don't have a life.
- 5:29Yeah, somebody from, you know, and I hate to say small town,
- 5:33but we know there's a lot of small towns in Indiana.
- 5:36Small town Indiana has access to the same knowledge. And I know that we've always
- 5:40had access with the internet.
- 5:41But if you have a specific topic that you want to research, you just ask AI
- 5:48and it just reads it out to you.
- 5:54Also, I think where where AI would excel in the classroom is grading papers
- 6:01and all of that kind of stuff. I mean, it would probably run through.
- 6:06Not just like lessons, but term papers and everything. It'd just be burning through them quickly.
- 6:13Copy, paste. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So there are some advantages for AI being in classrooms.
- 6:22Now let's give a few cons. And we've both already given a few,
- 6:26but let's get into some more cons.
- 6:30I got one, a good one. Okay, cool.
- 6:33Cognitive atrophy. Oh, for sure. I was about to say the exact same thing, bro.
- 6:38It is something where, and you've mentioned this not with AI,
- 6:43but with other things that you and I have talked about. Correct.
- 6:47If they're doing all the thinking for you, you're not getting that workout upstairs.
- 6:52Nope. You become reliant on AI to solve every issue for you.
- 6:57That's absolutely one of the cons.
- 7:00Another kind of, which I guess, let me go back and say,
- 7:05the classes where I think, or the subjects where I think AI would be beneficial.
- 7:12Math, science, English, as far as grammar, I think it would be useful if you're
- 7:19learning a foreign language.
- 7:21I think AI would be great for that.
- 7:25Where I think it would struggle is like you were saying with the cognitive portion of it.
- 7:31And like if you're teaching something like history that that requires context,
- 7:36I think AI would struggle with with anything where you have to do some type of critical thinking.
- 7:42If you're doing an ethics class, follow up questions, if you don't ask the follow
- 7:46up question, it won't dig deeper into that specific time. Right.
- 7:50Right. And because it's based on a system where everything is basically black
- 7:54and white, I think where and we know life is lived in the gray for the most part.
- 8:01I think it would struggle tremendously.
- 8:04Algorithmic bias. Exactly. Exactly.
- 8:08I also think it would create a learning gap for schools that were more affluent
- 8:17or got more funding versus schools that didn't get the funding because they
- 8:21would get better computers or
- 8:23have access to more computers composed to schools who don't get funding.
- 8:27So, I mean, you can't you can't utilize it if you don't have it,
- 8:32especially without kind of adding to that.
- 8:35You know, it's 1999 to get full scope of most AI to be Chad GPT or Gemini.
- 8:41Those affluent schools may pay for it.
- 8:45Like you said, some of the inner city schools might not have the finances to
- 8:49pay for. So you're getting the full scope. Correct.
- 8:53You know, hey, can you create this this picture for me? Here's what I'm thinking.
- 8:58Just a basic, you know, seven day trial. You're not getting the option. Correct. Correct.
- 9:04Which is why we're going to do a part two to this.
- 9:08And we're going to get into the cost of education.
- 9:13That'll be the next podcast. And we're going to touch on how basically everyone
- 9:20is not getting the same education that, you know,
- 9:25they claim is required for success. But I digress.
- 9:30So, yeah, those are a few of the pros and cons that I have. Thank you.
- 9:35Anything you want to add to this, bro? Let me see. I think I had a couple of
- 9:39more. Oh, Jesus. A couple of more. It's all good.
- 9:44A few more. So pros, like workforce readiness, learning how to use AI.
- 9:50Sure. You know, for going forward.
- 9:54Creative inspiration. You know, breaking the ice. And like if you have writer's
- 9:58block, for example. Hey, this is what I've written so far.
- 10:01I need your help progressing to the next step.
- 10:05What should I talk about? You know, whatever the case may be. I think I have one more.
- 10:10Tutoring, 24-7 tutoring. Correct. So if the kid can't stay behind the school
- 10:15because the parents, you know, can't pick them up at a certain time, there's no more excuse.
- 10:20Correct. Excuses. You can sit in front of there and, you know,
- 10:23the teacher or the parent can put together a bunch of questions.
- 10:26You enter those questions into whatever AI platform you use and it helps you.
- 10:31The foreign language. Yeah, you could drive down the road and do the live in
- 10:37Gemini and just have a conversation.
- 10:39There was another with Khan.
- 10:43Nah, I already brought that one up. Basically, the digital divide. Sure, sure.
- 10:47And I also think and we sort of, you know, glossed over this one,
- 10:52but I do think it's important. So I'm going to revisit it.
- 10:56The cognitive decline. I think it would be way too easy to just have AI write
- 11:05your term paper or write you a thesis and you don't do any real research.
- 11:10You just say, hey, I'm doing a paper on XYZ topic and it spits you out something. And I think.
- 11:17A person, a human would be able to tell you didn't write this paper versus AI
- 11:23would just go, oh, yeah, this is great. I, yeah, A plus.
- 11:28I agree with everything you said. Well, yeah, because basically you wrote it.
- 11:31No. So I think that would also be, you know,
- 11:35one of the cons is I don't know if AI would be
- 11:37able to differentiate between an
- 11:40AI written paper and someone actually doing research
- 11:44like we had to go to the library and check
- 11:47out books and give sources and actually
- 11:50learn how to do research the dewey
- 11:53decimal system which i know all that stuff is obviously not man i'm dating myself
- 11:57damn index cards yep sitting at the library downtown yeah index card yep yep
- 12:03yep but it again it taught us how to think it taught us how to do research it
- 12:09did that Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:12And as and I think those are tools that we still apply in our everyday life,
- 12:19even to this day. I agree.
- 12:21Where, like you were saying, they become relying on it and they don't know how
- 12:26to think or go do real research.
- 12:29And I guess it's kind of the issue we have now with everyone just getting their
- 12:33information off the Internet with so much misinformation out there is why so much just bad.
- 12:43I don't know how it would. False. I don't even know what to call it. Wrong.
- 12:48Things are things are out there in the atmosphere. Well, it's like you said,
- 12:51with context, you know, if you don't you don't ask follow up questions,
- 12:54it's just going to spit out an answer.
- 12:56You're going to be like, see, I told you you were wrong. And it's like, OK, well, ask it this.
- 12:59And it digs deeper for sure and realize that you only know half of the story for sure.
- 13:04And and and you are I agree. It does 100 percent rely on the questions being
- 13:11asked the right way. The right way. Right.
- 13:14Because if you just tell, hey, whatever, do this for me, they'll do it.
- 13:20And then you'll read it and go, well, no, I need you to change this.
- 13:24No, I need you to change this again.
- 13:26That's why you just ask it what you want it to do.
- 13:29You know, specifically. That's it. That's the word right there.
- 13:33The more specific, the better response you're going to get.
- 13:37And that's something that I guess you just learn from trial and error. Right.
- 13:43I don't know bro anything else you want to talk about
- 13:46with this you know there was I had
- 13:49my notes y'all forgive me I was trying to find
- 13:52the breakdown I think I mentioned it
- 13:55to you the other day generations how they had one generation was was this then
- 14:04you know basically our parents generation then our siblings generation because
- 14:08you have older siblings that's do as do I and I I can't find it on my notes,
- 14:13but it was basically breaking down.
- 14:18How our parents were taught to, they were prepared for the real world.
- 14:24And then our siblings, that was the first time that calculator was introduced into the classroom.
- 14:29And there was this whole cheating panic across the country. Well,
- 14:34people are going to cheat because they have calculators. You remember we.
- 14:37Oh, no, we weren't allowed to use. Hell no.
- 14:40And if you got caught with one, it was almost like you got into a fight with
- 14:43somebody and were ready to suspend you.
- 14:44Yeah, for real. And then with us, when we had the computers,
- 14:48Oregon Trail, so on and so forth, I remember they were like,
- 14:51well, that's going to be too much time in front of a computer.
- 14:54That's going to rock their brains. Right. And now AI has replaced all of those things.
- 14:59Right. But I think that using the wrong way, this can be extremely dangerous.
- 15:05That's the key. Playing Oregon Trail was just playing Oregon Trail, being on a computer.
- 15:10They limited our time. And most homes didn't have a computer.
- 15:13I didn't grow up with a computer in the house.
- 15:15I think the first time I had a computer in the house consistently,
- 15:18I was already in my 20s. So was I.
- 15:21So I didn't grow up with it where it was taking all of my time every single day.
- 15:27So, but with AI, everybody has a phone.
- 15:31Everybody has access to it. Correct. Because it doesn't matter your poor kids
- 15:36have phone. Correct. It doesn't matter.
- 15:39So it can be a hindrance if you don't use it properly. Yeah,
- 15:43and since we're on the hindrance, the other thing I think we did not mention
- 15:50is the data privacy risk.
- 15:55All of your information, all of your educational history would be out there
- 16:00for someone with bad intentions to steal.
- 16:02And maybe even go in and manipulate grades if they got the password,
- 16:08if they got the firewall and go in and manipulate grades, whatever, whatever,
- 16:13where I think a teacher would be able to go, hey, this isn't my grading book.
- 16:18This person didn't have an A, where AI would just, oh, now you get an A,
- 16:24without any recollection of what had happened before a data breach, so to speak.
- 16:30So, sleeper topic with AI that I think is the most dangerous or could be.
- 16:38They say every AI conversation is the equivalent to one of these. The water usage.
- 16:45So a bottle of water, one conversation.
- 16:49Think about how many people across this world, not this country, across this world.
- 16:54It would have to be a data center damn near next to the school.
- 16:58Having a conversation, like right now as we talk, there's millions and millions
- 17:02of people having conversations with AI or using it in some way, shape, or form. Mm hmm.
- 17:07So that's that's another reason why, you know, like those data centers here,
- 17:12especially over there by where I live, when all those people came together. No, no, thanks.
- 17:17No, which we talked about in an earlier episode, which I think they're going
- 17:21to end up putting that one in Shelbyville, by the way. Yeah.
- 17:26So to give it a daily breakdown.
- 17:30Global AI industry could be responsible for withdrawing 4.2 to 6.6 billion cubic
- 17:38meters of water annually.
- 17:4111 to 18 million cubic meters per day.
- 17:45That is enough to fill thousands of Olympic-sized swimming pools. Wow.
- 17:52Yeah. Yeah. And again, we'll get into the cost aspect of education in the next,
- 18:00episode, the next podcast.
- 18:03But yeah, I mean, just think about what that would do for the cost.
- 18:07I mean, we had book rental to pay.
- 18:10Imagine with this. I mean, if every kid had to have a computer to take home
- 18:15or whatever, whatever, how expensive now would school be?
- 18:20But we'll get into that on the next episode.
- 18:23Anything else you want to add to this, brother? No, I think I think we pretty
- 18:26much cover what we wanted to today.
- 18:28All right, cool, cool, cool. All right, with that being said,
- 18:31y'all, we're going to run right into our next segment, which is current events.
- 18:39There are so many, so, so, so many things that has happened since we last recorded.
- 18:51But I want to briefly touch on Venezuela.
- 18:58Now that Maduro has been captured.
- 19:03Now that the smoke kidnapped. Now that the smoke is cleared.
- 19:10Do we still think that this was about drugs? Do we still think that those fishermen
- 19:17who were getting killed in the ocean were transporting drugs?
- 19:23This is about oil.
- 19:26It's always been about oil. I think just yesterday,
- 19:31he had a meeting in the White House with the top oil execs discussing how they
- 19:39were going to divvy up Venezuela.
- 19:43We've been duped. We've been had.
- 19:46We've been bamboozled, run amok, let us stray.
- 19:52Hood winked. Hood winked. It was never about drugs. And the reason why I know
- 19:58that is because he pardoned the Honduras.
- 20:04He pardoned the Honduras leader who was convicted by the Biden administration. He pardoned him.
- 20:14Maduro has not been convicted of anything.
- 20:18I'm just saying, y'all, once a colonizer, always a colonizer.
- 20:23And in my opinion, that's all that's happening here is we're about to colonize Venezuela.
- 20:32And just to add something to the end of that, we both think that Maduro is a piece of shit. Correct.
- 20:38So we don't want y'all to think that we're defending it. No, no, no.
- 20:42And speaking of colonization, let's talk about Graylin. Yeah.
- 20:50So, I feel like the Trump administration is playing a game of monopoly.
- 20:56It seems like it. Global monopoly is what we're playing.
- 20:59Now, this isn't new. We've been trying to take Greenland for 160 years. The difference is that,
- 21:07I forget the guys, and his last name was Seward way back in 1867.
- 21:12President Taft in 1910 tried to
- 21:15do a proposal for the Philippines and Greenland, you know, doing a trade.
- 21:21Truman offered 100 million bucks
- 21:23for it. Trump said, well, we're going to take it one way or the other.
- 21:29Well, there's also a rumor, rumor, rumor. I want to emphasize that this is a
- 21:35rumor that the people of Greenland could possibly get $100,000 each.
- 21:42Yeah, I saw them posting that as a bride. As a bride, yeah.
- 21:45Trying to bribe. Yeah, yeah. So the difference between all of these previous
- 21:49attempts is I'm not saying that the people of Greenland weren't worried because
- 21:54we've been a superpower for a long time.
- 21:56But I think that now it is a situation where you hear someone say,
- 22:03well, military options are on the table.
- 22:05You imagine how terrifying that is. Not to mention, if we go after Greenland, NATO's done.
- 22:13NATO will probably attack us. I don't think so.
- 22:16I think they'll all lay down and fold, with the exception of maybe one or two
- 22:21countries who won't. But what's the point of NATO if we take over Greenland? There is no point.
- 22:29So I don't really have much more to add to that other than I think I told you
- 22:35on the phone the other day. I'm tired.
- 22:38Yes. It's a lot.
- 22:41And you can't avoid it in this world. No. I mean, you turn the TV on if you
- 22:45watch, you know, YouTube or if you're on social media.
- 22:49You're going to get some whiff of it. you're going to get something.
- 22:53And when I pulled up here,
- 22:56There was a report that he has in the last hour enacted a national emergency
- 23:03to sell off the oil that we've seized.
- 23:06So he's declaring. Yeah. Yeah. He's declaring an emergency under I forget which act it was.
- 23:13Yeah. But it's it's still raw.
- 23:17It's it's it hasn't been refined. It hasn't been I mean, it's useless until
- 23:22you do something. Well, I won't say useless, but.
- 23:26Here's what's what's irritating. These these executives said at that office
- 23:31yesterday and smiled, knowing damn well that they're not going back to Venezuela. Why would they? Right.
- 23:39They've they've state claims in other places. Why would they?
- 23:43Anything involving Venezuela is a long term thing. Correct.
- 23:48Nothing. These executives probably
- 23:51left there going, man, I'm so tired of this idiot because it won't.
- 23:56It'll it'll take years before that oil can be used as gasoline year.
- 24:02And I don't mean like 2028.
- 24:05It will take years before we see any type of decrease in gasoline.
- 24:12So, yeah, all of it is I won't say far fetched, but it is not imminent.
- 24:19No. Yeah. Like you said, we're talking. Yeah. Yeah.
- 24:22Yeah. Yeah. So I don't even understand why trying to sell the oil.
- 24:26Right now is like for what?
- 24:30Wine is not yours to sell, but for what?
- 24:34It's just crazy to me how they take control of their oil fields,
- 24:39kick everybody out. I forget the exact year.
- 24:42And that's why we're back. Because remember, he said, well, we're going to go
- 24:45back and take what they took from us. Which is not our oil.
- 24:48It's not our oil. Yeah, it's not our oil. We told them, all right.
- 24:51I mean, Venezuela told us, all right, y'all can get out. We're going to start
- 24:55making our money off of off of our old. Yeah.
- 24:57And he doesn't like that. Correct. Oh, I'm sorry. Because he had no idea about
- 25:02that. So whoever's putting the information into his head.
- 25:06Steven. Yeah, that dude. Which, by the way, did you see that video of him when
- 25:10he was in high school? No. And I don't want to.
- 25:14So he did a, he got uncovered, I think yesterday, the day before,
- 25:19you know, he got the beard, He got the hair, real scrawny, complaining that
- 25:24they can't just throw their trash on the ground because that's what we pay the janitors to do.
- 25:29Why do we have to throw away our own trash?
- 25:33You can't be serious. In high school. I think it was one of his family members
- 25:37that posted it. That was his argument. Yeah.
- 25:42Lord have mercy. That got to be the most privileged mess I've ever heard.
- 25:47Wow. So someone should just walk behind you and just pick up behind you all
- 25:51day, every day, you know.
- 25:56Whatever what whatever what whatever that's
- 25:58what i did i saw the video i was like man whatever and i just closed yeah yeah
- 26:02what whatever that's just so ridiculous on his face that's that's all i got
- 26:07for a current event bro everybody stay stay tuned i mean just stay tuned all
- 26:13right something happen by the time we finish yes stay tuned and as hard as it
- 26:18may be don't get discouraged,
- 26:21we just got to keep fighting i think
- 26:25flooding the zone with all of this nonsense is
- 26:29a tactic to get people to feel discouraged and give up and then feel like there's
- 26:35nothing that we can do so we got to stay in the fight we got to be hopeful that
- 26:43eventually things are going to turn The tide is going to turn.
- 26:48And then what they do is when you have this situation like you have now,
- 26:53then they'll give you, they'll feed you something that gives you hope.
- 26:56You're like, oh, okay, well, cool. We're doing that now.
- 26:59All right. That's what's up. So it makes you feel like they're solving problems.
- 27:04But the problem is you created the problem.
- 27:07All the time. You can't create the problem. All the time. And then solve it.
- 27:11All the time. That's what he did with TikTok.
- 27:14Right. You created the thing. Yeah. I'm going to ban TikTok And then you want
- 27:18to praise for saying I'm not going to ban TikTok now I'm going to give you 30 more days Yeah.
- 27:26I mean talk about people falling for the okie-dok Bro It's just nuts It's 100% nuts But,
- 27:36Again, we got to stay in the fight, y'all. That's why we do this podcast so we can inform people.
- 27:42You know what I'm saying? All hope is not lost. There are many other podcasts out here.
- 27:47Pay attention. That's all I can ask is just pay attention. All right.
- 27:55There are a lot of people who are exposing the fallacies and the foolishness
- 28:00and all of the illegalities of this administration.
- 28:06Pay attention y'all we in this fight and
- 28:09it is a fight believe you me it's a
- 28:12fight you got it you got a current event bro or we
- 28:15gonna we gonna move on to our work i did agree oh okay
- 28:18my bad my bad i thought i thought that was all part of the same conversation
- 28:22no i did i did kind of just yeah yeah yeah okay okay okay cool i mean hey no
- 28:27that's that's great that's how we wanted to flow just like a conversation all
- 28:31right you know we're gonna move into our uh our work y'all or a rant about a random topic,
- 28:37everybody's favorite segment, including mine. You got it right, bro?
- 28:43Man, I got a bunch, but...
- 28:46One that really irritates me, and it involves Minnesota as well. Oh, yeah. Go for it.
- 28:55So, which another thing, too, I got to stop saying so, so damn much. So?
- 29:03Hey, somebody listening just said, yeah, you do.
- 29:06Because when I listen back to them, I go, man, I said that like 12 times?
- 29:11No, it's all good. I want to talk about the freezing of the funds in Minnesota.
- 29:20So $130 million, it's a USDA freeze, basically what they call it.
- 29:26It targets funding for SNAP and other USDA things that they take care of in Minnesota.
- 29:36The reasoning behind it is supposedly to stop fraud. Apparently,
- 29:41there's fraud in Minnesota, which it's funny how he just randomly attacks. First, it was Somalia.
- 29:48Then it's something else. Then it's something else. So it's going to be something new.
- 29:52So the impact of it, it doesn't necessarily stop EBT cards from working immediately.
- 29:57So if you have money on the card, it'll still work. The difference is people seeking renewals.
- 30:04They don't have the funding for new applicants at all if they cut it off.
- 30:08So then they would have to use state
- 30:10funding, which would take away from infrastructure and everything else.
- 30:14So you start to see collapses.
- 30:17And it's all planned out.
- 30:19This is all part of Project 2025.
- 30:22It's all planned out. Now, I'm sure that they can do...
- 30:26They can go to court, which I'm sure a federal judge will definitely stop it.
- 30:31It's just the constant bullshit.
- 30:36You know that I can go to court and get this stopped, but you just want to put me through it.
- 30:43Distractions. You just want to put with him, though. I don't even think it's
- 30:47a distraction. It's more or less like I don't like you and I'm going to inconvenience you.
- 30:52I see that. I see that. One, it is definitely going to get challenged in court
- 30:58because the largest fraud happening right now is in Mississippi.
- 31:04But you have only targeted the Democrat states. Five of them. Five. Correct.
- 31:12Which, again, shows that this is all political and partisan based.
- 31:19But here's here's my issue with all of it. Right.
- 31:24So you're going to punish everyone in all five of those states.
- 31:31You're going to punish all of those people who depend on that money.
- 31:36They depend on that help.
- 31:38The actions of a few this this this
- 31:42isn't about the minnesota somali
- 31:45daycare fraud that's irrelevant first of
- 31:48all that case is old that hell
- 31:51yeah yeah 92 people have already been convicted that case really doesn't even
- 31:58matter and and to be quite honest that dude who made the video trying to go
- 32:03to the daycare he should have been in jail i was waiting on somebody to just
- 32:08show up and knock his ass out.
- 32:09He should have gotten knocked out, but he should be in jail.
- 32:12And it's funny when they did the when the news people were out there and they
- 32:15were talking to him and the lady from the local broadcast he said, so it's business hours.
- 32:21And the lady said so what?
- 32:24Every daycare door is locked. Every. He said, well where's the receptionist?
- 32:28And the lady says, this is a privately owned.
- 32:31Maybe they don't have the money for a receptionist. Right. You can't just walk into a daycare.
- 32:37Small kids. man get get real
- 32:40get real such an idiot such an
- 32:43idiot but you know what'll happen going back
- 32:46to what you and i talk about all the time somebody will write him a check he'll
- 32:50have the number three podcast in the country by next week for sure he'll be
- 32:54loaded for sure all day every day 100 but yeah it's just i i i i just like you can't.
- 33:06Validate any of this you can't say it's not
- 33:09political yeah when it's when
- 33:12it like i said it's five democratic states that
- 33:15you're freezing the funding on but also
- 33:18the fact that how many innocent people who don't have anything to do with fraud
- 33:24don't even pay attention to politics right is getting caught up in the fray
- 33:28that's my problem with these broad general punishments is target your attack, bro.
- 33:36If you really want to solve a problem, an issue, target it towards that.
- 33:44Don't do these broad general claims because too many people are going to get
- 33:50hurt. And people are going to get hurt.
- 33:53And believe you me, when people don't have enough to eat, they're going to start
- 33:59stealing is just inevitable because
- 34:03I would, or even worse, resorting to violence. Resorting to violence.
- 34:08So, yeah, again, creating a problem and then we're probably trying, hey, look, I fixed it.
- 34:17No, it's your fault to begin with, asshole.
- 34:21I don't know, man. You good on your work, bro? Yeah.
- 34:25Alright, I'm gonna lighten things up, y'all. I mean, because like I said,
- 34:29in these last two weeks, it's just been so much thrown at us that,
- 34:35just need a moment of laughter. So I'm going to try and provide that right now.
- 34:41So I was flipping through the channels one day because it hasn't been much on.
- 34:46And I just happened to stop on Celebrity Jeopardy because I seen Neil deGrasse Tyson.
- 34:53For those of you who don't know, Neil deGrasse Tyson is a world renowned astrophysicist
- 35:01and regularly regarded,
- 35:03I mean, regarded as one of
- 35:05the smartest people or most intelligent people on
- 35:08the planet so i'm like
- 35:11oh i'm gonna watch this because he's gonna like wipe the floor with everyone
- 35:18and i'm watching and you know he's running down the category and i'm like all
- 35:22right neil i see you and then something strange happened neil started getting a lot of answers wrong.
- 35:34And I'm like hey hey what's happening
- 35:38here so now I'm watching like the entire I never watched Jeopardy I'm watching
- 35:43the entire episode spoiler alert y'all Neil lost not to another scientist he lost to an actress,
- 35:56and I'm just like looking at Neil kind of sussing now because I'm like hey hey
- 36:02hey what what's going on bro are you only an expert when it comes to astrophysics and.
- 36:10We should strip your title with being one of the smartest people in the world
- 36:14because maybe it just relates to your particular field.
- 36:19Now, every category was about astrophysics. He'd probably wipe the floor with
- 36:23them. Well, they don't pay attention to a lot of the other things. Yeah.
- 36:26Yeah. So I was like shocked that I'm like, we just got his ass kicked on celebrity television.
- 36:34This is totally not what I was expecting. Yeah. It was just kind of shocking to me, bro.
- 36:41Yeah it's uh i know mina kimes from
- 36:44espn she talked about when she was on there and how because i
- 36:47mean she's obviously she's intelligent as hell too and there
- 36:51were things that she missed and the pod you know i was listening to a podcast
- 36:54and they were all laughing and making fun of her about it and she goes it's
- 36:58different when you i bet it is though i bet i bet that that pressure gets on
- 37:03you and you probably just have kind of like and she's she's an ivy league grad yeah yeah Yeah,
- 37:08brain, a brain freeze and all of that kind of stuff. So, yeah.
- 37:12Yeah, I bet. Like, just like the what's the what's the family feud when they
- 37:15do it at the end of the show, whatever they call it, fast money or whatever.
- 37:19Oh, yeah. Yeah. Some of those questions are very easy. But you see some people
- 37:23sometimes sit there and they get froze and they go blank and it just like you
- 37:29didn't know that. And you sitting at home screaming at the TV.
- 37:32Exactly. Exactly. And I'm like, yeah, I bet, you know, when you're standing up there is different.
- 37:37And as soon as he Sing you back to your family You go man I can't believe I
- 37:42got that answer wrong The second person Is the one where Give me an animal With three letters,
- 37:51Everybody's going to say cat immediately And then you forget Dog Yeah.
- 37:58I feel you I just thought that was funny That Neil lost on Celebrity Jeopardy
- 38:03And like I said maybe that was just my own bias and expectations,
- 38:07but yeah, that was just, you know, ironic.
- 38:11Something I definitely did not expect.
- 38:15Everybody likes him, too. That's one thing about him. You don't hear many people
- 38:19say anything bad about him. No, no, no.
- 38:21And I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm not taking shots at Neil.
- 38:25I'm saying this for a laugh.
- 38:28I know Neil is crazy intelligent. And I've seen him speak on topics outside of astrophysics.
- 38:36We're just like, this dude is mega smart.
- 38:40You're asking about football, though. He'll probably be like, uh, I have no idea.
- 38:46Yeah, he'd probably start telling you why a helmet, you know,
- 38:49functions the way it does.
- 38:51Yeah, I can't tell you about Walter Payton, but I can tell you about the helmet
- 38:53he used to wear. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:56Yeah, all right, cool, cool, cool. So, now, and I just said so twice,
- 39:01we're going to move on to our next segment, Five on the Blackhand Side, and we got an O.D.,
- 39:11just leave it at that we got an od today that we're gonna
- 39:14we're gonna talk about and we're gonna talk about a movie called the last dragon
- 39:20no no let me let me let me stop there barry gordy's the last dragon take it
- 39:28away my brother so damn it i just said so again.
- 39:33The last dragon was released 85 85
- 39:37we were nine years old when this movie was released michael schultz directed
- 39:43it yep barry gordy yep the executive producer yeah was a producer here's what's
- 39:50crazy so the genre that it's listed under what would you list it i would call it a.
- 39:59Kung Fu flick? It is a martial arts action comedy musical.
- 40:05That's a lot. Yeah. Wow. And the musical part, we'll talk about that. Yes.
- 40:11Which all these years later, although we love Elder Barge, just made no damn sense.
- 40:16Yeah. And let's have an impromptu video. Yeah. The whole goddamn song. Yeah. Excuse me. Yeah.
- 40:21In the middle of the movie. In the middle of the damn movie.
- 40:24Yeah. And let's stop for a concert. Yeah. Yeah.
- 40:27Yeah. Because most people don't understand. And of course, I mean,
- 40:30at that time, the barge was.
- 40:34They were big. They were the replacements for the Jackson, for the Jackson. Correct.
- 40:39Wait, and this this isn't like Purple Rain, Purple Rain.
- 40:44Yes, there were a lot of like music videos in Purple Rain, but that's because
- 40:50it was sort of a documentary, so to speak. But I don't think this movie knew
- 40:55if it wanted to be The Karate Kid or Purple Rain. Correct.
- 40:59That is correct. It was almost like Barry Gordy was just watching it on two
- 41:03different TVs going, let's just make this.
- 41:06One movie. We're going to turn Karate Kid and Purple Rain into one movie.
- 41:12I don't know what the hell Barry Gordy was thinking. I'm going to just be honest, bro.
- 41:17This is a way for me to promote my artist.
- 41:21Okay. Which he did. Yes. I'm going to produce it.
- 41:25I'm going to find a 19-year-old non-trained actor to play the starring role of the movie.
- 41:34I'm going to put him in a movie theater, watching a Bruce Lee flick.
- 41:38And as you mentioned the other day that I completely forgot about eating popcorn with chopsticks.
- 41:46Some damn chopsticks. Then I'm going to send a dude in by 6263 into a movie theater.
- 42:01And I'm going to have him beat everybody up because Bruce Leroy ignored yes.
- 42:08Now, at nine, this was the best movie ever. Correct. We loved it. The glow. The glow.
- 42:15And it had vanity in it. Correct. That right there was enough for me.
- 42:20Yes. But when you get older and you realize that Shonuf was walking around Harlem in the 80s.
- 42:26I don't even know how to describe his gear, bro. He was dressed like Shredder.
- 42:33Yeah. Without the helmet. Yeah. And a different color. What is that,
- 42:36like a 1940s Japanese samurai type did-up or something?
- 42:42I would even give it 1940s. I would say 1840s.
- 42:45Oh, yeah. It was crazy.
- 42:49But yeah, then having the full-length concert with DeBarge in the middle of the movie.
- 42:56I'm even sure DeBarge and the crew were like, you want us to do what?
- 43:00Yeah, yeah, this is a way for us to promote you. It's basically a concert.
- 43:06So this was like a musical. I know you don't like musicals, but it was kind of like a musical.
- 43:15With some iconic lines by the way that's true that's true I don't so,
- 43:23I don't even know I don't like I said I don't know what Barry Gordy was thinking
- 43:28when he made this movie bro I don't,
- 43:32it's just so.
- 43:35Mismatched but I guess we should give some plot so I did kind of get off yeah yeah yeah yeah Yeah.
- 43:45Bruce Leroy, who is the star, the main character, is a martial artist who is
- 43:56looking to reach peak level,
- 44:00peak level being the glow.
- 44:03And Bruce Lee is his idol and
- 44:07and he tells this story about how Bruce Lee
- 44:10when he was in top form his body would
- 44:13get this magical glow and it
- 44:16almost meant that he was invincible and this is what Bruce Leroy is chasing
- 44:23the entire movie so he's one of the toughest guys in Harlem when it comes to
- 44:31Kung Fu and his nemesis is Shonuf,
- 44:35who had the worst skills ever.
- 44:39So the entire movie is Shonuf trying to pick a fight.
- 44:47This guy and Bruce Leroy keeps running.
- 44:52Not running in a punk way, just like I'm a peaceful man and I don't want to fight you.
- 45:01Sure enough was more like a pest. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:05So that's one plot because again, let's get to the musical aspect of it, right?
- 45:12So we got the villain, Eddie Arcadia. Eddie Arcadia. Thank you.
- 45:19Who he wants Vanity, who's the top video jock like VJ, like he used to have. Yeah.
- 45:28He wants Vanity to play his girlfriend's single video, whatever, on her show.
- 45:37And Vanity's like no it kind
- 45:40of sucks so I'm not playing that on
- 45:42my show so he tries
- 45:46to kidnap Vanity or he does kidnap Vanity basically
- 45:49and try and force her to play
- 45:53the lady's music where Bruce Leroy saves
- 45:56Vanity so now he's mad at Bruce
- 45:59Leroy so now he enlists
- 46:03show enough to deal with Bruce Leroy to get rid of Bruce Leroy so he can kidnap
- 46:10Vanity again to make her put the video on the show yes it doesn't make sense
- 46:18we completely understand.
- 46:22Bro listen to you explain that.
- 46:26Hearing you explain it that way I'm sitting there thinking what? yes what happened?
- 46:32Yes it's so crazy and it's,
- 46:39so like we were saying show enough is dressed in like this old Japanese samurai
- 46:45get up for the entire movie this is how he walks around all day Bruce Leroy
- 46:51walks around dressed like Bruce Lee,
- 46:56Here's how ridiculous it is when they go to the Asian guys.
- 47:02Even the Asian guys are like, why are you dressed like that,
- 47:06dude? They like get the hell out of here.
- 47:10Oh, man. I mean, just. So anyway, to get to the finale.
- 47:16Well, hold up. I had to bring up something. OK.
- 47:20We got to bring up his father's slogan. just directed your pizza to Daddy Green's Pizza.
- 47:30Director D-I-R-E-C-T-A. Yeah. Director. Yeah.
- 47:36Which sure enough and his buddies go in and like totally vandalize and harass
- 47:42his family trying to pick a fight with Bruce Leroy. Nobody calls the police.
- 47:47You know what I'm saying? They just let this dude bust the windows and break
- 47:51all kind of the counters and all kind of stuff.
- 47:54Yeah, nobody thought to call the police and the little brother who I wanted to smack.
- 48:01He was always messing with him. You're a coward.
- 48:05You kissed his feet and everything.
- 48:09Oh, man. Just. Now, before you get to the final scene, we want y'all to remember,
- 48:16all Shonuf did was belittle Bruce Leroy through the whole movie.
- 48:20The entire movie about focusing on his art yeah and trying to become better
- 48:25yeah and achieve that glow and what happens brother at the end so they finally
- 48:32meet up where they have to fight it's unavoidable.
- 48:38Starts to fight Shonuf and Shonuf got the glow, the red glow. His hands are glowing.
- 48:47Which means he's been practicing his craft. He's been practicing his craft.
- 48:53And he's beating up Bruce Leroy. He's dunking his head in the water.
- 48:59Who is the master?
- 49:02With the worst uppercuts.
- 49:06I can't hear you Leroy he should
- 49:11have drowned but anyway so while
- 49:15all of this dunking his head in the water and trying to drown him eventually
- 49:20Leroy gets the confidence he stopped being scared and realizes what I've been
- 49:28searching for the entire movie I've had all along.
- 49:35So finally he goes, I am.
- 49:38And Shodanuf tries to still on him, but Leroy catches his hand.
- 49:43I'm the master. And he starts this whole glow when his arms are moving super
- 49:50fast, and now his whole body is glowing.
- 49:53He beats up Shodanuf. He gets the, uh, saves Vanity, and then Eddie Arcadian
- 50:01comes up with probably like the realest line in the whole movie.
- 50:08You know where to stop all that kung fu shit? A .45 bullet.
- 50:14Until you realize that the glow apparently gives you strong teeth. Not strong teeth, bro.
- 50:22Not strong teeth. Teflon teeth. Ha ha ha ha ha.
- 50:29So he tries to shoot Bruce Leroy in the face and Bruce Leroy catches the bullet with his teeth.
- 50:42I also think it needs to be stated that Roger Ebert, out of all the nonsense
- 50:48that we talked about in this movie, Eddie Arcadian was the only thing about
- 50:52this movie he absolutely hated.
- 50:55Not give this a high rating no no no no no no oh okay but
- 50:58he was talking about how if anything in
- 51:01the movie where he felt was like yo what was eddie arcadia yeah yeah the the
- 51:08the and and like you said we were we were young we were kids we love this and
- 51:13and and listen i think this might still have like a cult following.
- 51:19Oh yeah. But not because it's good.
- 51:23It's actually terrible. We haven't even mentioned the name of the fortune cookie factory yet.
- 51:30Go ahead bro. Some dumb guy.
- 51:36How offensive that shit is?
- 51:40Oh man. I mean like this whole.
- 51:44Like Barry Goyt didn't have nobody Asian on the squad saying,
- 51:48hey, Barry, you probably nah, that's offensive.
- 51:53Just the whole cultural appropriation of
- 51:57it with show enough and Bruce Leroy like you were saying on the phone running
- 52:04around Harlem dressed like they came straight out of an old Samurai Sunday Kung
- 52:09Fu flick and it's just like they go Harlem in the 80s as we know it. Right.
- 52:15Man, that sure enough would have lasted one day. Right. He would have got killed. Right. Beat up.
- 52:21And it's just like to me it's like you don't need to dress like that to be a kung fu master. No.
- 52:32Even get like the purpose and and they're like the only
- 52:35two in the movie that are dressed like that no one else
- 52:38and even show enough homies didn't dress like that yeah they would dress like
- 52:42typical 80s army fatigues basically yeah and oh man yeah it is this movie is
- 52:50is is is just not good y'all here here's i and and i guess i don't know for sure but.
- 52:59Why didn't old boy blow up after this time
- 53:02act i mean because this was the height
- 53:05of the kung fu movies so why didn't
- 53:08he blow up like billy blanks would you know got to got to go be in a lot of
- 53:13kung fu movies what's my man steve james got to do some kung fu flicks if y'all
- 53:21don't know who steve james is that's well what was his name i'm gonna get you
- 53:24sucker kung fu joe oh yeah yeah
- 53:27yeah yeah yeah yeah why wasn't
- 53:30he and i'm gonna get you suck it right i
- 53:34don't i don't know if michael jai white was around back then but i mean i know
- 53:39he was in a lot of kung fu flicks yeah he would have been a teenager during
- 53:43that time yeah so i'm just like why why why didn't this guy career like but
- 53:49the thing is with him is he was a true martial artist so he was like,
- 53:54trained so maybe he didn't want to do it yeah maybe it was kind of like well
- 53:59shoot being a movie with Barry Gordy and of course Vanity I mean who didn't love Vanity back there,
- 54:04maybe he just went back to training yeah it may and I meant to look up like
- 54:09his resume and see if like he got some actual championships.
- 54:13Behind his name or whatever I mean because I know Don the Dragon Wilson was
- 54:17also like a a pro fighter but he still did his movies in between,
- 54:23his uh kickboxing championships and whatnot so
- 54:26while you were talking i pulled it up so he was actually janet jackson's love
- 54:31interest and let's wait a while the video and then while i'm thinking about
- 54:35it it sure that sure in hell was him i didn't pay attention to that bro um and
- 54:39he was a martial arts choreographer for madonna in her 2001 tour.
- 54:45Was working more behind the scenes yeah and i know he
- 54:48had like a little cameo appearance on a different world
- 54:51beverly hills 90210 and third watch oh so he had he had cameo appearances okay
- 54:58so he got a little bit more work than i realize or recognize but yeah it says
- 55:03that he in the early days of ufc he was a referee and an official for preliminary bouts
- 55:10and he did a lot of fitness culture okay all right that that makes sense and
- 55:15i'm not saying stay working stay yeah yeah yeah and i'm not i'm not saying like
- 55:18the guy was a great actor or anything like that he was pretty bad no he was
- 55:22he was bad i'm just saying you know you would think that he would just show
- 55:25up in some of those martial arts movies where,
- 55:28you're not here to act you're here to fight you know so with bolo right right right right right.
- 55:35Bro and i mean we we did have i guess this was our first introduction to ernie
- 55:40reyes yeah yeah and i mean that was that was that was cool looking back at it i would say if we were,
- 55:48judging this movie at age nine this would be like fives all the way around yeah
- 55:55but looking back at like if we're looking at it for nostalgia i'd watch it again
- 56:00for nostalgia reasons and critique the hell out of it just because I don't know.
- 56:06And as we get older, we critique things a little more than we used to,
- 56:08but it's a pretty awful movie. It is an awful movie, bro.
- 56:12And I'm sorry, but I mentioned vanity was in it. You didn't need to.
- 56:19Also some terrible acting from her. It's like everybody just phoned.
- 56:25It almost felt like the director was just like, man, let's just get through this.
- 56:31I know Barry is my friend, but I'm not just Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:35Let's just let's just get through it.
- 56:37I can't. I just can't do it. Let's just let's just hurry up,
- 56:42guys. Cut. Great. That's a tape. It's a wrap.
- 56:45No, no type of direction. No. Give me give me some more emotion.
- 56:49Just yeah, just just just just terrible. But I will say this.
- 56:54Not I guess a little to do with Last Dragon you know sure enough was Murphy
- 57:00Brown's boyfriend for like a season or two.
- 57:05Mm-hmm. Yep. I used to like that show. Hey, that show was hilarious,
- 57:09man. Yeah, I like it. That show was low-key hilarious.
- 57:11Yeah, I think for like a season or two, he was Murphy Brown's boyfriend.
- 57:16Really? Yep. Yep. And I just happened to be watching some old episodes,
- 57:20and I was like, hey, that's show enough.
- 57:23It's just so hard for me to picture him without that curl and stupid glasses that look like blinds.
- 57:30Yeah. I had a pair, though.
- 57:32Dude, they didn't keep the sun out of your eyes. I used to wear them things
- 57:35all the time. Yeah, the breakdancing glasses. Yeah, they were horrible.
- 57:39They were horrible. So I guess we let the cat out of the bag that we don't like this movie.
- 57:44So what, we're going to give this zero high fives on the black hand side?
- 57:47It doesn't even deserve half of a high five.
- 57:50Yeah. Not now. Not now.
- 57:54Back in the day, we would have been all over it. For sure.
- 57:59For sure. But there's a lot of movies that when we were kids, we loved.
- 58:04And if we go back and watch them now, we'd be like. But there was some that
- 58:08we look at and they, although they might not be as great, we still love them. Like the Golden Child.
- 58:15Golden Child is hilarious, though. Yeah. Yeah. That movie is hilarious.
- 58:20Eddie is so inappropriate, but the movie is hilarious. Yeah. Oh, my goodness.
- 58:25All right, y'all. So we're going to leave it there. We cannot.
- 58:28Okay, listen, if you want to laugh, watch it. Watch it. Yeah. Yeah, watch it.
- 58:36Just know, going into it, that it's bad. Yeah. Okay?
- 58:42That's what we'll say about Barry Gordy's The Last Dragon. If you're out of
- 58:48NyQuil and you need to go to sleep.
- 58:50Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 58:55Oh, man. All right. Cool. Well, this week, y'all, we're going to do something
- 59:01a little different with our closing monologue.
- 59:04Instead of my brother, I'm actually going to do the closing monologue.
- 59:09And this is this is some will say that I'm probably off base,
- 59:15but I think that this is 100 percent on point. So with that being said,
- 59:22I'm going to jump right into it.
- 59:24And I want to start by stating for the record that I am unapologetically black
- 59:33is one of the few labels that I will not reject.
- 59:39With that being said, this is not intended to trigger or offend or anger anyone.
- 59:48And if it does, that says more about you than it does about me.
- 59:55This is a call for unity to black people and more specifically, black Americans.
- 1:00:04I have spoken about this extensively and I just want to say that this is a call to action,
- 1:00:13a request, a demand if I have the cachet to make one, which I don't.
- 1:00:21But we need to hold every office seeking politician accountable.
- 1:00:29I know what you're saying. We already do that. Thank you.
- 1:00:34Not when it comes to this issue. And that issue is reparations.
- 1:00:40I don't care if they have an R or a D next to their name.
- 1:00:47I don't care if they are black, white, Asian or Hispanic or anything in between.
- 1:00:55If reparations is not part of their agenda, then you cannot have our vote.
- 1:01:04The wealth gap that exists between black and white families can be directly traced back to slavery.
- 1:01:13Other mechanisms, such as redlining, biozoning laws, have reduced the property
- 1:01:21value of black neighborhoods, which can be attributed to generational wealth.
- 1:01:29There are many other systemic injustices that have occurred which negatively
- 1:01:37impacted our financial stability.
- 1:01:41To make a long story short, this isn't about a handout.
- 1:01:46This is about rectifying an unforgivable offense that no other community has faced in this country.
- 1:01:55Don't tell us now isn't the time when the government seems to have funds for
- 1:02:02Argentina and Ukraine and Israel and possibly Venezuela and possibly Greenland.
- 1:02:11Don't ask us where would the U.S.
- 1:02:15Get the funds because that question is never asked except when reparations is the topic.
- 1:02:24Online services have been rendered and the bill is way past due.
- 1:02:31Going forward, no politician should receive our support unless they are willing to support.
- 1:02:42It's time to get on cold. Period.
- 1:02:47Well said. Cool. All right.
