- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back! Ready for another episode of Learn Dutch with Fexingo? Luna: Yeah, I'm so ready! What are we learning today? I hope it's something I can use right away. Lucas: Absolutely. Today we're diving into adjectives — describing words. In Dutch, we have three common ones: groot, klein, and mooi. Luna: Groot, klein, mooi... I think I've heard those before! What do they mean? Lucas: Groot means big. Klein means small. And mooi means beautiful or nice. Let's start with groot. Can you repeat after me? Groot. Luna: Groot. Lucas: Perfect! Now klein. Luna: Klein. Lucas: Yes! And mooi. Luna: Mooi. Lucas: You sound great, Luna. Now let's put them in sentences. Remember in episode 35 we learned de tafel? The table. So we can say: De tafel is groot. Luna: De tafel is groot. The table is big. That's easy! Lucas: Exactly! Now try with klein. Remember de stoel? The chair. De stoel is klein. Luna: De stoel is klein. The chair is small. Got it. Lucas: And from episode 44, we have de bloem — the flower. De bloem is mooi. Luna: De bloem is mooi. The flower is beautiful. Aww, I love that. Lucas: Me too! Now let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're at a garden. You see a big tree and a small flower. How would you say that? Luna: Uhh... De boom is groot? And de bloem is klein? Lucas: Exactly! And if the flower is beautiful, you'd say... Luna: De bloem is mooi! Lucas: Nailed it. Let's do one more. We also learned de jas from episode 54. If your coat is big, you say... Luna: De jas is groot! Lucas: Wonderful! So groot, klein, mooi — three adjectives you can use right away. Let's say them all one more time together: groot. Luna: Groot. Lucas: Klein. Luna: Klein. Lucas: Mooi. Luna: Mooi. Lucas: And remember: De tafel is groot, de stoel is klein, de bloem is mooi. Practice these and you'll be describing things in no time! Luna: That was so helpful! I'm going to look around my room and describe everything. This lamp is klein! Wait, is lamp de or het? Lucas: De lamp — from episode 36. So de lamp is klein. Perfect example! Luna: Yes!
