- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys, welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm your host, Coleen Witt, and today we have very
- 0:05Speaker 1: special guest, comedian Daphnique Springs is in the building.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hey, what's up. I'm happy to be here.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Yes, I'm happy to have you cooking for me. Of course,
- 0:15Speaker 1: what are you going to be having us eat today?
- 0:18Speaker 3: Today we are gonna eat chicken top Roman noodles mixed
- 0:23Speaker 3: with boiled eggs.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Boiled eggs.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Yeah, cut it in half, you drop it in the water.
- 0:53Speaker 1: With it boiled, so there's cooked.
- 0:55Speaker 2: We put the boiled egg in here.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Oh okay, Yeah, I've seen different ramen with eggs. I
- 1:00Speaker 1: don't know if I've seen it with the fully cooked
- 1:02Speaker 1: egg in it. So yay for you for giving it
- 1:05Speaker 1: something different. I was telling your publicists, like, you know,
- 1:08Speaker 1: can she come with something different? But while you go
- 1:11Speaker 1: ahead and start cooking the noodles and eggs or do you?
- 1:15Speaker 1: Or I guess you could put the eggs in hun.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Now, yeah, I can put the eggs in first. You
- 1:18Speaker 3: gotta take them eggs, just drop them in there.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Just make sure that water ain't too hot? Now is
- 1:23Speaker 1: it hot? Is it warm? Ah?
- 1:28Speaker 2: Not a water cool? Is hell, why want to crak
- 1:31Speaker 2: that bad boy up a little bit?
- 1:33Speaker 1: So take me back to what was going on in
- 1:35Speaker 1: the era of ramen and egg.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Rawmen and egg started off, or when I was in college.
- 1:41Speaker 3: I went to Eastern Michigan University, Okay, and you know
- 1:45Speaker 3: back in the day, you just bad a budgeting money. Yeah,
- 1:50Speaker 3: and then also rawmen noodles was popular. Just it was
- 1:54Speaker 3: like the era of Roman noodles for us, you think.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So, I feel like everyone at some point has the era.
- 2:01Speaker 1: When you go through the phase of ramen noodles, you've
- 2:04Speaker 1: come up with every hack on how to make it
- 2:06Speaker 1: creatively your own ramen noodle.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, And I feel like back when I was
- 2:11Speaker 3: eating it in college that was two thousand and five
- 2:15Speaker 3: to two thousand and eight, I was eating ramen noodles.
- 2:17Speaker 3: It was it was it was a trendy. It was trendy.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Everybody was eating ramen noodles. We didn't care about nutritional facts.
- 2:24Speaker 3: See all of that vegan stuff and that's new stuff.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Yeah, people don't.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Understand that being vegan and vegetarian. You heard of people
- 2:32Speaker 3: that did it. But back in the day, if somebody
- 2:34Speaker 3: was vegan, you was like, oh, they just gay.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Oh, I'm just.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Joking, but but it just wasn't popular.
- 2:41Speaker 3: So now back in the day, people just ate ramen
- 2:43Speaker 3: noodles and stuff like that. And it was just like
- 2:45Speaker 3: the thing you went to when you were in college, boy,
- 2:48Speaker 3: because what happened is that you would get your college
- 2:52Speaker 3: card and on that card, once you run up that money,
- 2:56Speaker 3: you had to learn how to survive past that. Because
- 3:00Speaker 3: when you first get your money, you going, you eating
- 3:02Speaker 3: that pizza, You going to Buffalo Wild Wings, you getting, oh,
- 3:05Speaker 3: you want some wings?
- 3:06Speaker 2: I get get fifty wings on my car.
- 3:09Speaker 3: And then it comes three four months later you realize
- 3:12Speaker 3: you swiped that card and it's like decline, You like,
- 3:15Speaker 3: let me go on over to the store and get
- 3:16Speaker 3: some raw men nodles exactly.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I still I hate to admit this, but I make
- 3:19Speaker 1: jokes with my girlfriends. I'm like, you catch me at
- 3:21Speaker 1: the top of the month, I'm breaded up. By the
- 3:23Speaker 1: end of the month, I don't know. We can't do
- 3:26Speaker 1: nothing yet, go nowhere. By the end that count was solo.
- 3:30Speaker 1: But did you know when you were in college that
- 3:33Speaker 1: you were gonna do comedy? Like? What were you in
- 3:35Speaker 1: college for?
- 3:35Speaker 3: I went to college college for a chemistry degree and chemistry.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yeah, chemistry, yep, that's a farm.
- 3:43Speaker 3: I'm good at math and science. Those are my my
- 3:45Speaker 3: things that I'm good at. So you know, I'm more
- 3:47Speaker 3: left brain, business savvy and stuff like that. So I
- 3:51Speaker 3: went to college for chemistry and then I dropped out
- 3:55Speaker 3: ten credits short of a chemistry degree, and I worked
- 3:59Speaker 3: at a pharmaceutical company internship, and then I didn't like it.
- 4:05Speaker 3: So I was like, let me go ahead and move
- 4:06Speaker 3: to LA and become actress.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Now you come from two parent household, single parent, can
- 4:11Speaker 1: you give me a little backrou.
- 4:12Speaker 2: So my parents were teenage parents.
- 4:15Speaker 3: My mother got pregnant at sixteen, had me a week
- 4:17Speaker 3: after her seventeen birthday. My dad was nineteen, and I
- 4:20Speaker 3: was like, well, that don't make it. My mom was like,
- 4:22Speaker 3: I was like, that sound a little statutory rape. And
- 4:25Speaker 3: she's like, don't talk about your daddy like that. She
- 4:27Speaker 3: was like, back in the day, it was something called
- 4:28Speaker 3: the Romeo and Juliet law.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So long as they will. She had three years, she
- 4:33Speaker 2: had three years. Okay, you no, she still got his
- 4:36Speaker 2: last name.
- 4:36Speaker 1: They've been divorced over twenty years, but they're still tight.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Yeah, they still cool. We all went on vacation to
- 4:42Speaker 3: Columbia last year. My mom still has the last name.
- 4:45Speaker 3: She said she just liked it better. It had a
- 4:47Speaker 3: better rein to it. Springs. And so my parents were,
- 4:53Speaker 3: you know, together for some years, and I think when
- 4:55Speaker 3: I was probably like three, they got married, stay married
- 4:59Speaker 3: for about three years, maybe four, and then they divorced
- 5:03Speaker 3: and I stayed with my dad for a while for
- 5:06Speaker 3: some years, and then I went to go live with
- 5:08Speaker 3: my mother. As I got a little older, because my
- 5:10Speaker 3: dad had more kids, I was like, I don't I
- 5:13Speaker 3: don't feel like sharing with all these kids. My mama
- 5:15Speaker 3: just had me. So oh you like, yeah, I like
- 5:17Speaker 3: living a good life.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I don't like.
- 5:19Speaker 3: I don't like when they started when you the more
- 5:22Speaker 3: kids you have, the more you have the budget.
- 5:23Speaker 2: When when my daddy was like, it's time to budget.
- 5:26Speaker 3: We can't eat steak no more at home, I was like,
- 5:28Speaker 3: I think I go live with my mama, could.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Go back to living the regular life that I like
- 5:32Speaker 2: to live.
- 5:32Speaker 1: So from like three or four, you lived with him
- 5:35Speaker 1: till like seven.
- 5:36Speaker 3: No, No, my parents were married and then once they divorced,
- 5:39Speaker 3: I live with my father.
- 5:40Speaker 2: So did you run from seven?
- 5:41Speaker 1: Actually? Consciously say, hey, Mom, I'm gonna go with daddy.
- 5:44Speaker 2: No.
- 5:44Speaker 3: My mom said that she was like she was trying
- 5:47Speaker 3: to find settle herself and work and stuff like that,
- 5:49Speaker 3: and she said she didn't want to leave me with anybody,
- 5:52Speaker 3: and my dad was responsible enough to keep me, you know,
- 5:54Speaker 3: because my dad was there to take me to school,
- 5:56Speaker 3: to pick me up from school. We went fishing every day,
- 5:59Speaker 3: so deep fishing, so we were fishing there.
- 6:01Speaker 1: We have such a really good background that I don't
- 6:04Speaker 1: think if we were just standing on the outside, we
- 6:07Speaker 1: would never know, like chemis street fishing.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I was on the golf team in high school.
- 6:10Speaker 3: A lot of people would never know these things about me.
- 6:13Speaker 3: But yeah, I came from a family of love too.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I didn't realize that until I became an adult and
- 6:20Speaker 3: realized being around other people. Is that a lot of people,
- 6:23Speaker 3: not a lot of people, but some people are raised
- 6:25Speaker 3: up on survival. And when you raised up with parents
- 6:27Speaker 3: that love you and always there with you and stuff
- 6:29Speaker 3: like that and spend time with you, Like me and
- 6:31Speaker 3: my mom used to go to piston games.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You know.
- 6:34Speaker 3: We were always going to taste festival and festivals and
- 6:36Speaker 3: stuff like that. Like my mom said, anybody that her
- 6:39Speaker 3: friends knew. If I couldn't come along, she wasn't going.
- 6:41Speaker 3: So yeah, my mom didn't work, no two or three jobs.
- 6:45Speaker 3: She had one job back in the day, and she
- 6:47Speaker 3: spent time with me when she was, you know, in
- 6:49Speaker 3: between works.
- 6:50Speaker 2: She worked while I was like in school. Basically, so, yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Okay, I like to hear that. Yeah, so you go
- 6:57Speaker 1: to school, you decide to leave school and trek it
- 7:00Speaker 1: to la. How do your parents receive the news of
- 7:03Speaker 1: you saying no to chemistry and science and math.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Well, my dad is a chemist, so he was just like,
- 7:07Speaker 3: he said, you you only live once, he said, basically said,
- 7:11Speaker 3: you know, college will never go anywhere. He said, It'll
- 7:13Speaker 3: still be there. Said, if you go out there for
- 7:14Speaker 3: a year or two and don't like it, I'll still
- 7:16Speaker 3: be here. You can always come back, he said. But
- 7:18Speaker 3: what happens if you stay here end up meeting somebody
- 7:22Speaker 3: having kids, and you just getting farther and farther away
- 7:24Speaker 3: from your dreams. And my mom's supportive. You know, I've
- 7:27Speaker 3: never been the type to make bad decisions or be
- 7:30Speaker 3: like a child that you had to worry about a lot.
- 7:33Speaker 3: So when I say I want to do something and
- 7:35Speaker 3: my family rallies around it. So when I moved to
- 7:37Speaker 3: la I moved with my grandmother in Inglewood. She had
- 7:40Speaker 3: a two bedroom. My little cousin had just went back
- 7:42Speaker 3: to go live with her mama. So my grandma said,
- 7:45Speaker 3: it's a twin size bed in there, and she said,
- 7:48Speaker 3: you just need to get a little TV. So I
- 7:49Speaker 3: got a little TV, moved in with her and her
- 7:51Speaker 3: husband Inglewood.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And I'm sure that made your parents feel a lot
- 7:55Speaker 1: more better about you.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Yeah, because I wasn't here by myself. My mother said
- 7:58Speaker 3: she was glad I wasn't by myself. So being in
- 8:01Speaker 3: I'm going back to her home, you know, California, I'm
- 8:04Speaker 3: not by myself. So I don't know if I could
- 8:07Speaker 3: have moved to California just by myself.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Well, you were still how old were you that night?
- 8:11Speaker 3: Twenty When I moved here, I was twenty one and
- 8:14Speaker 3: I moved with ten thousand dollars?
- 8:16Speaker 1: Wow?
- 8:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I was working at the casino in Englewood.
- 8:20Speaker 3: No, I was working at the casino in Florida in
- 8:23Speaker 3: Coconut Creek, and it was a casino there, and this
- 8:27Speaker 3: older Jewish guy used to come in there and he
- 8:29Speaker 3: would give me five hundred dollars for a cup of coffee. Oh,
- 8:32Speaker 3: just to talk to him for a few minutes, just
- 8:34Speaker 3: regular conversation. It was a lot of regulars in there
- 8:37Speaker 3: that were wealthy people, and they would they had certain
- 8:39Speaker 3: girls that they liked and just wanted the company, you know.
- 8:42Speaker 3: But this man was about in his fifties and he
- 8:46Speaker 3: would just give me five hundred dollars for a cup
- 8:47Speaker 3: of coffee. In three weeks, I say, five thousand dollars.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Wow.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And then I was just like I had a little
- 8:52Speaker 2: extra other money.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Somebody here, you were already good with money. You make
- 8:58Speaker 1: this move and you decide you want to get into
- 9:00Speaker 1: you said acting.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Or I wanted to move here to get into the industry. Okay,
- 9:04Speaker 3: you know how you just don't know. I was like,
- 9:06Speaker 3: let me go out there and just see whatever I
- 9:08Speaker 3: get drawn into. And ten months later I got drawn
- 9:11Speaker 3: into stand.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Up within ten months yeah, and ten October. Yeah, so
- 9:18Speaker 1: you could drop the ram and if you want.
- 9:20Speaker 2: So, Am I making enough for two or just one? No?
- 9:23Speaker 3: Two?
- 9:23Speaker 1: You're feeding both of us, Okay, But luckily I ate
- 9:26Speaker 1: before we started taping, so I'm not gonna be as
- 9:30Speaker 1: hard pressed. I'm really excited to hear your story. Oh
- 9:32Speaker 1: you're gonna drop that packet in there.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Forgot about the pack I didn't forget about the See,
- 9:38Speaker 3: that's why we need you here.
- 9:41Speaker 1: So here, I'll take that. Everyone can hit a crunching
- 9:45Speaker 1: on theh.
- 9:46Speaker 3: And you see how see how people like I'm not
- 9:48Speaker 3: touching the actual roman because some of y'all don't be.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Washing y'all hands. Oh yeah, y'all here just touching stuff.
- 9:54Speaker 1: That's why we keep the sanitizer on the on the sea.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Wonder why everybody got a colim h.
- 10:00Speaker 1: So you're out here? What springs the ten month? Oh
- 10:05Speaker 1: my gosh, I have an epiphany. This is what I
- 10:07Speaker 1: want to do. What happens?
- 10:08Speaker 2: So it was my ex boyfriend.
- 10:10Speaker 3: So my boyfriend in college was like, hey, I have
- 10:13Speaker 3: a friend out there, LeVar. He said, why don't you
- 10:15Speaker 3: connect with him? Is somebody else we knew in college
- 10:17Speaker 3: but they were a little bit older than me.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So I hit up LeVar.
- 10:20Speaker 3: LeVar was a school teacher out here, and I would
- 10:24Speaker 3: hang out with LeVar and LeVar had a friend, and
- 10:26Speaker 3: it wasn't all the time, but it was just somebody I.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Could hang out with.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Have a friend out here, buddy, you know, very safe,
- 10:32Speaker 3: not trying to hit on me or try to you
- 10:34Speaker 3: know whatever, just that he's looking out for his friend's friend,
- 10:39Speaker 3: right because that's my ex boyfriend, but looking out for me.
- 10:42Speaker 3: So he had a friend that came over there, this
- 10:44Speaker 3: guy named Elijah that was from Detroit as well, or
- 10:47Speaker 3: probably Ohio one of those states. I'm not for sure,
- 10:49Speaker 3: because when you go to college in Michigan, it could
- 10:51Speaker 3: be people from anywhere in that Midwest area. So you know,
- 10:55Speaker 3: Elijah was coming over and he was doing a Brager
- 10:58Speaker 3: show and the Bringer show.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Acting.
- 11:00Speaker 3: When you first started comedy, you do a lot of
- 11:01Speaker 3: breaker shows. That's where you have to bring ten ten
- 11:04Speaker 3: people to get stage time. So I was like, yeah,
- 11:10Speaker 3: that's for me. That looked good, you know. I said,
- 11:11Speaker 3: can I go up? He said yeah, if you can
- 11:13Speaker 3: bring some people here, you go up. I said, all right,
- 11:16Speaker 3: and I gathered my My grandmother used to come to
- 11:17Speaker 3: all my shows. She's eighty now, so that had to
- 11:20Speaker 3: be she had to be like in her sixties.
- 11:22Speaker 2: She would come with her little my girlma got to shake.
- 11:24Speaker 3: So yeah, she come with her wig child and she'll
- 11:28Speaker 3: sit in the front row get roasted. And but she
- 11:31Speaker 3: she was as long as I pay for a little
- 11:33Speaker 3: two drank minimums. She give her a little two SIPs
- 11:35Speaker 3: of drinks and she'll be fine, and she would come
- 11:37Speaker 3: to the shows. That was one person down, so I
- 11:40Speaker 3: had to get other people, you know. But you know,
- 11:42Speaker 3: I just started from there and I did comedy for
- 11:45Speaker 3: maybe like a year and a half, and then after
- 11:47Speaker 3: that I quit for I think about two years, maybe.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Two to three years. Why did you quit because it
- 11:52Speaker 2: was tough.
- 11:53Speaker 3: I think, especially like being a female comic, when you
- 11:56Speaker 3: first get started, it can be a little rough in
- 12:00Speaker 3: the man's world, and then you're kind of dealing with
- 12:02Speaker 3: low tier comedians when you first get started, like people
- 12:06Speaker 3: who have no common courtesy and respect, think they can
- 12:09Speaker 3: say whatever the people or joke any type of way.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I think that as you go up in the game,
- 12:14Speaker 3: you develop a little more hopefully professionalism.
- 12:18Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yeah, so now you're spending times in the bars, the bars,
- 12:23Speaker 3: the bars, the bars, that's where you're gonna do stand
- 12:24Speaker 3: up at when you first get started. Then you develop
- 12:27Speaker 3: to the clubs. With the clubs, the clubs have certain
- 12:30Speaker 3: type of people get etiquette, people get a little more
- 12:34Speaker 3: a little more professional. People can still be unprofessional at
- 12:37Speaker 3: every level. But the more you move up, hopefully the
- 12:39Speaker 3: more professionalism, and I think the funnier you get, the
- 12:42Speaker 3: more you get with.
- 12:43Speaker 2: People just respect.
- 12:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, did you have to deal with, like, I know,
- 12:48Speaker 1: different aspects of the industry women have to deal with,
- 12:51Speaker 1: like guys constantly trying to get with them and all that.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Did you have to deal with a lot of that?
- 12:55Speaker 2: Yeah? I deal with a little bit of it, but
- 12:57Speaker 2: you know, I can.
- 12:59Speaker 3: I had a boyfriend ex boyfriend, like he'll fight anybody.
- 13:03Speaker 3: But you know, but you also don't want to be
- 13:05Speaker 3: known as a person that's going around starting ship. But
- 13:07Speaker 3: it's just some people that could be really on some bullshit.
- 13:10Speaker 3: It's a lot of lower back touching, long creepy hugs.
- 13:14Speaker 3: It's like, yo, chill out, brot high.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Yeah, come up from it.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Don't do that from a distance.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I think you guys were messing around just from the distance,
- 13:27Speaker 3: and people don't understand how things look in.
- 13:28Speaker 2: The distance, right.
- 13:30Speaker 3: It even feels sometimes inappropriate while you in the in
- 13:33Speaker 3: the moment, but even from the distance, it looks like
- 13:37Speaker 3: people are putting claims on you.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And I didn't like that.
- 13:39Speaker 1: No, I wouldn't like that. We may have to check
- 13:42Speaker 1: on the ramen before it becomes mashed potato.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Sound like you cook?
- 13:47Speaker 1: I do cook. I'm like, yo, that ramen is definitely
- 13:49Speaker 1: gonna be muss. You may want to turn it off, you.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Know what, I'm gonna turn it down because it's still
- 13:54Speaker 3: you know, you got to change it up.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I think how often do you cook?
- 14:01Speaker 2: Probably like three four times a year.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I thought you were gonna say, a week, how are
- 14:09Speaker 1: you eating?
- 14:10Speaker 2: I'm on the road, I'm out, I'm eating out.
- 14:13Speaker 1: But that's it's nowadays. It's a lot.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's to the point people know me from
- 14:18Speaker 3: restaurants and know my order already.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Like you'll pull up, you'll be like, it's dam neat
- 14:21Speaker 1: and they got your order done in twenty minute.
- 14:23Speaker 2: To see you.
- 14:24Speaker 3: That's what they say, so you want to it's bad
- 14:27Speaker 3: when they be like, you don't even have to say
- 14:29Speaker 3: your order. Because I'm the habit of creature, a creature.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I eat the same thing all the time, so I
- 14:36Speaker 3: ain't changing up too much. So when I like to
- 14:39Speaker 3: eat good this week so far, I've ate eating at Boa.
- 14:43Speaker 1: BoA's expensive three.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Hundred dollars I spent there and then last night I
- 14:48Speaker 3: was at Kazana, so I like to eat out. People
- 14:50Speaker 3: say what your little vices is? You may not see
- 14:52Speaker 3: it on me, but because it's in my stomach.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You're hilarious. My only vice is expensive cars, oh for real?
- 15:00Speaker 1: But how I literally know? I just switch up like
- 15:03Speaker 1: every two or three years. I'm not one of those
- 15:05Speaker 1: people that own multiple cars at one time, but you know,
- 15:08Speaker 1: if my bank account grows up, don't ever think I
- 15:10Speaker 1: won't be that girl that has the Lamborghini yours and
- 15:13Speaker 1: you know, escalate or something. I have to have an
- 15:15Speaker 1: expensive one car. It's just my cars. I can't do
- 15:19Speaker 1: like it doesn't make any sense. But like I would
- 15:22Speaker 1: never do like a Ford or Toyota, Honda, I don't
- 15:25Speaker 1: care how sexy those cars look. At times they put
- 15:28Speaker 1: out some sexy cars, I'll be like, what is it
- 15:30Speaker 1: is a Honda? No, no, sorry, and I don't care.
- 15:33Speaker 1: And they've been improving their looks. Nissan at one point
- 15:36Speaker 1: had some nice looking cars. I said, but it's a Nissan,
- 15:38Speaker 1: so no thank you.
- 15:40Speaker 2: See.
- 15:41Speaker 3: I like to be like, okay, what can I afford here? Okay,
- 15:43Speaker 3: I can afford that, go down the level?
- 15:46Speaker 1: No see, And I always do the top of the model.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Like when I got my new car, I called them
- 15:51Speaker 1: and I said, where's the massagers in this? In the
- 15:54Speaker 1: the car seat had massages and the massagers weren't massaging.
- 15:58Speaker 1: And the guys were like, well, when you ordered it,
- 16:00Speaker 1: it didn't have it on the order, And I said, bullshit.
- 16:03Speaker 1: This is the top model. And I was like, is
- 16:05Speaker 1: there a topper model than this? And they're like no,
- 16:08Speaker 1: and I was like, so then the massagers go in
- 16:11Speaker 1: the seats. Nonetheless, I am that person like it has
- 16:13Speaker 1: to be the time.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I just have to have seat warmers.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I also have to have the steering reel warmer.
- 16:18Speaker 1: I also have to have the little alert on the mirrors,
- 16:21Speaker 1: the little you know, blind side alert.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Do you like the thing where they put the speed
- 16:25Speaker 3: of the car in the windshield?
- 16:27Speaker 1: I don't.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I hate it.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I don't like that.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Even if it is on my car, I would take
- 16:30Speaker 2: it off.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't like that. I also don't like the
- 16:33Speaker 1: lane control. I don't like that. I always turn that off.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Some features are too much.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Even though you could turn that off, you can.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Yes, sometimes I've almost got an accident because I don't
- 16:41Speaker 3: hate well in case progressive it's watching. It's always used
- 16:45Speaker 3: by signal, but if you don't use your signal for
- 16:47Speaker 3: the people out there who don't use their signal that
- 16:49Speaker 3: I've driven in the car with that was the passenger. Yeah,
- 16:52Speaker 3: I don't like how the car would jerk you back
- 16:54Speaker 3: into your lane. I've already made a decision. Bro, we ride,
- 16:57Speaker 3: you don't drive me.
- 16:58Speaker 2: I drive you.
- 16:58Speaker 1: No, you could definitely tout it off. Anytime I feel
- 17:01Speaker 1: my car do that, I'm like, I'm someone must have
- 17:03Speaker 1: hit it. But yeah, I turn that. That is an
- 17:05Speaker 1: ultimate get off my car thing.
- 17:08Speaker 3: In New York, people ran into the back of my
- 17:11Speaker 3: car a total of four times.
- 17:16Speaker 2: No, they just riding. They always trying.
- 17:19Speaker 1: To get too close to you. Okay, my twin, I
- 17:21Speaker 1: don't know. My twin has like, yes, I have a
- 17:25Speaker 1: fraternal oh yeah, so, but my twin in the last
- 17:29Speaker 1: year has gotten in quite a couple of accidents, and
- 17:32Speaker 1: I'm starting to.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Think I accident.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it because she's never the causer. But
- 17:38Speaker 1: I'm like, girl, like, what's going on? Like do they
- 17:41Speaker 1: need to put like, you know, orange caution around your car?
- 17:45Speaker 1: I don't understand how sound I definitely, I just don't
- 17:49Speaker 1: get it. So anyways, going back to what made you
- 17:53Speaker 1: actually take the step back, Uh, just.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Just it was somebody I was a manager I wanted
- 18:03Speaker 3: to sign when he was like, well, have you ever
- 18:04Speaker 3: thought about stand up? Because I swear back in the day,
- 18:07Speaker 3: when you were an actor and people would see you,
- 18:10Speaker 3: they'd be like, well, do you know, stand up seems
- 18:12Speaker 3: like a faster track into acting. And so I tried
- 18:15Speaker 3: that and I got ended up getting back into it
- 18:19Speaker 3: and just just building some thicker skin.
- 18:21Speaker 1: And were you working jobs while you were doing comedy?
- 18:25Speaker 2: I would say.
- 18:26Speaker 3: When I first moved here, I immediately joined sag After
- 18:30Speaker 3: within the first month.
- 18:32Speaker 2: And then I was.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Well, I thought you have to earn it.
- 18:36Speaker 2: You know, back in the day you could just buy
- 18:37Speaker 2: your way into After.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Oh okay, So I immediately joined after within the first month.
- 18:42Speaker 3: So I would do background on sets. And when you
- 18:44Speaker 3: were background on the set, if you were after, you
- 18:46Speaker 3: made a minimum of twenty dollars an hour.
- 18:49Speaker 2: So I would do that.
- 18:50Speaker 3: And it's like when I first within the first year
- 18:52Speaker 3: I came out here, I had built myself up by
- 18:54Speaker 3: the end of the year to like, you know, four
- 18:56Speaker 3: or five thousand a months just in background working. Because
- 18:58Speaker 3: back in the day, you know, years before the pandemic,
- 19:01Speaker 3: you would be on set for twelve hours, maybe sixteen hours,
- 19:04Speaker 3: and once it was over eight hours, it went into
- 19:07Speaker 3: time and a half. And then after twelve hours of
- 19:09Speaker 3: winning to double So we would be on set all day,
- 19:11Speaker 3: just sitting around, talking whatever, playing cards, reading books, being
- 19:15Speaker 3: on your phone. Then you go on set and you
- 19:17Speaker 3: work a little bit, you come back and then I
- 19:19Speaker 3: got into the commercial world, and commercials were paying like
- 19:22Speaker 3: three twenty three for eight hours, and then you would
- 19:25Speaker 3: get the overtime and all the smoke bumps and stuff,
- 19:27Speaker 3: so it paid up. And so how I ended up
- 19:30Speaker 3: becoming SAG is because SAG you had to get three
- 19:32Speaker 3: vouchers to get into that, and I ended up being
- 19:35Speaker 3: an extra on House.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I don't know if you remember that show.
- 19:38Speaker 1: First.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I loved House.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Shoutouts.
- 19:41Speaker 3: House was so good that show, Yeah, okay, And the
- 19:45Speaker 3: guy asked me the ad was like, hey, are you
- 19:49Speaker 3: are you SAG?
- 19:49Speaker 2: I said no.
- 19:50Speaker 3: He said I'll bring you back every day until you are,
- 19:52Speaker 3: and he gave me three vouchers and then I joined
- 19:55Speaker 3: SAG because I had the money, and so yeah, I
- 19:58Speaker 3: would just always earn money back and forth. With that,
- 20:00Speaker 3: and that was for maybe like the first I would say,
- 20:02Speaker 3: three and a half years.
- 20:04Speaker 1: And then you're also doing you after you get through
- 20:18Speaker 1: the sag after and you get fired from is it
- 20:20Speaker 1: House Central Casting? Central?
- 20:23Speaker 3: Oh?
- 20:23Speaker 1: Central Casting?
- 20:24Speaker 2: And yet you know that that's the mecca out in
- 20:26Speaker 2: Los Angeles.
- 20:27Speaker 1: A baby can fire you.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought it was submits you for jobs, so
- 20:32Speaker 3: they can just tell you they're no longer submitted.
- 20:34Speaker 2: But I believe Tiffany Haatis got fired from there, too,
- 20:36Speaker 2: didn't she.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 20:38Speaker 3: So I was like, it could be a good thing
- 20:40Speaker 3: that they fire in certain people. They fire Brad Pitt too,
- 20:43Speaker 3: if I'm not mistaken.
- 20:44Speaker 1: If that's the case.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Stars that they got rid of, and it's just like, yeah.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Well that's good. So you get let go and you
- 20:53Speaker 1: see it as a blessing in disguise, Yeah, of course,
- 20:56Speaker 1: and then what's your next move?
- 20:58Speaker 3: Next move is say, you know what, I'm going to
- 21:01Speaker 3: Vegas work the casinos during the summer, come back, and
- 21:04Speaker 3: now I have money to actually I started back doing
- 21:07Speaker 3: stand up, so now I have money to actually be
- 21:11Speaker 3: able to submit to like colleges and stuff. Because when
- 21:14Speaker 3: you do colleges, you go there and you perform in
- 21:17Speaker 3: front of the students, but you have to pay you
- 21:19Speaker 3: how to get your flight, your hotel, and then it's
- 21:21Speaker 3: like a little small fee or whatever to actually showcase.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I didn't I thought the colleges paid, you pay the college.
- 21:28Speaker 3: No, the colleges pay you once you get the gig.
- 21:31Speaker 3: But they have showcases. It's called you know, I can't
- 21:35Speaker 3: remember what it's called, Naka Naka.
- 21:38Speaker 1: That's what you do, the showcase and then the pick
- 21:40Speaker 1: and then they start.
- 21:42Speaker 3: So it's a feat to do the showcase, and then
- 21:44Speaker 3: colleges from all over are there, depending on the region.
- 21:49Speaker 3: So if you make it into Naka Naka Midwest, then
- 21:52Speaker 3: all the Midwest colleges will be there and you perform
- 21:55Speaker 3: in front of the showcase and then the college you
- 21:57Speaker 3: booked you. So then I started doing that and then
- 22:00Speaker 3: twenty fourteen I called my mom.
- 22:02Speaker 2: She said, what you got going on? I said, you know,
- 22:04Speaker 2: I don't know. She was like, do you have a
- 22:06Speaker 2: plan B. I said no, I don't have no plan B.
- 22:08Speaker 2: This's it.
- 22:09Speaker 3: This gotta work. We all in I like. She said, okay,
- 22:12Speaker 3: well you got to be more aggressive.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I said.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Yeah, she said, she said, I know you you timid.
- 22:18Speaker 3: You not talking to people, you're not networking whatever. So
- 22:21Speaker 3: I'm at the laugh Factory Ian Wass Cat Williams. Oh good, yeah.
- 22:28Speaker 3: And so he was up he was upstairs, and it's
- 22:31Speaker 3: this guy who was on the road with him, Big Wheezy.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Big Wheezy is probably six hundred pounds.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Oh big, he's big.
- 22:38Speaker 3: He got the stairs and it was like no way
- 22:42Speaker 3: to get around him. But I found this tiniest spot
- 22:46Speaker 3: and squeezed around him because he always make jokes of
- 22:48Speaker 3: this story because his big ass walking upstairs, taking up
- 22:51Speaker 3: the whole steps in the back of the Laugh Factory,
- 22:54Speaker 3: going up the steps, there wasn't no two people. Two
- 22:56Speaker 3: people could normally go up and down there. Not with
- 22:58Speaker 3: Big Wheezy.
- 22:59Speaker 2: It's just him.
- 23:00Speaker 3: So he going up the steps and I find a
- 23:02Speaker 3: little spot, squeeze in front of him, run over the cass,
- 23:05Speaker 3: like hey can I can I get some shows on
- 23:06Speaker 3: the road with you? He said, are you funny? I said,
- 23:09Speaker 3: I said, yeah, yeah, I am lying.
- 23:11Speaker 2: I was lying.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You didn't think you were funny at the time. I
- 23:14Speaker 1: was okay, okay, yeah, But that's what anybody would say,
- 23:18Speaker 1: was okay, I would have money to get booted said,
- 23:20Speaker 1: can I get some shows with you?
- 23:21Speaker 2: He said yeah, he said yes, Big Wheezy, give him
- 23:24Speaker 2: your number. I said, okay, so I gave Big Weezy.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I yeah, his voice a little bit.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Okay, So you gave him the number. And did they
- 23:32Speaker 1: follow up?
- 23:33Speaker 2: Big Wheezy follow up? Because Big Weezy had knew me.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Big Wheezy is a really great person, a really great person,
- 23:39Speaker 3: and so he followed up, and you know, he said, hey,
- 23:42Speaker 3: you come around, we're doing this. And then I got
- 23:43Speaker 3: tour days with him?
- 23:45Speaker 1: Right? And did you have to audition for him or
- 23:47Speaker 1: did he see you to days or he went based
- 23:49Speaker 1: on your word?
- 23:50Speaker 2: Oh, I got to give you a chance like that,
- 23:52Speaker 2: just based on.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Just okay, I like that.
- 23:55Speaker 2: If you think you if you think you funny, I
- 23:57Speaker 2: give you a shot.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Okay, Well I'm glad you and to that question the
- 24:00Speaker 1: way you did. Yeah, yeah, I'm funny.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Of course.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Stay confident, Yeah, stay confident. So you do the show dates,
- 24:06Speaker 1: How does it go?
- 24:07Speaker 3: They went really good, you know, and I was able
- 24:10Speaker 3: to do quite a bit of shows or whatever. So yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 3: so that was cool, and then you know, went back
- 24:15Speaker 3: to the colleges and then right after that, I ended
- 24:18Speaker 3: up winning ABFF. What's that American Black Film Festival used
- 24:23Speaker 3: to do a comedy winnings competition and you win five
- 24:25Speaker 3: thousand dollars and get a showcase with HBO.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Okay and you won it.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I won.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Okay, yep, Okay, that's a big deal, big deal. Okay.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Mom is definitely proud. She like, okay, I'm on my
- 24:34Speaker 1: way up. Okay. Now do you think that mom conversation
- 24:37Speaker 1: is what made you push to the cat Williams?
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yeah, because you see people around all the time. But
- 24:42Speaker 3: I've never been the type.
- 24:44Speaker 2: You know.
- 24:45Speaker 3: I went and saw it's the casting director headed casting
- 24:49Speaker 3: at BT plus, Robbie reed. She does this thing with
- 24:53Speaker 3: Devin Franklin and I went recently and he said something
- 24:57Speaker 3: that really stuck with me. He said, most of us
- 25:00Speaker 3: are sitting on yess, but we're too afraid to ask.
- 25:04Speaker 3: I agree, And I'm one of those type of people.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I don't ask people for help. If you offer me help,
- 25:09Speaker 3: I'll take it. Or if you offer me an opportunity,
- 25:11Speaker 3: I would love it, but I'm not gonna be like, hey,
- 25:13Speaker 3: what up man, just checking in what you're seeing, what
- 25:16Speaker 3: you got like.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I don't do that. But I know people that do
- 25:18Speaker 2: that and their career be moving.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 3: So because I'm not like that, It's just like, am
- 25:23Speaker 3: I missing out on certain things because I don't ask
- 25:25Speaker 3: such and such can I get on this show? I
- 25:27Speaker 3: just truly work off of just being talented enough to
- 25:31Speaker 3: where people see me.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And then think of it.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yeah. My dad growing up, he used to always do
- 25:36Speaker 1: this thing. He used to get on my nerves as
- 25:38Speaker 1: a kid. He'd always be like, if like, say we
- 25:41Speaker 1: want a candy or something, We'd be like, oh, we
- 25:42Speaker 1: want to ask you something, be like ask you never
- 25:44Speaker 1: know if I'm gonna say no, then we'd always ask it.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Of course he'd always say no and be like, man,
- 25:48Speaker 1: this is stupid. But as I got older, I started
- 25:51Speaker 1: to say, like, I never take no from people that
- 25:53Speaker 1: don't have the ability to say yes. That's like something
- 25:56Speaker 1: I stand on. So like the other day, I wanted
- 25:58Speaker 1: Trevor Noah and I knew someone that knew him and
- 26:02Speaker 1: I sent I was like, hey, man, he's in town.
- 26:04Speaker 1: His publicist is blocking. No disrespect to his publicists, you know.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I was like, yo, just I just need the proposal
- 26:11Speaker 1: in front of him to say yes, yes, that's it.
- 26:14Speaker 1: And if you're not comfortable doing it. It's cool, but
- 26:16Speaker 1: I just need him to be the one to say no,
- 26:17Speaker 1: I can have his publicist, canvas, manager, canvas homie. It
- 26:20Speaker 1: needs to be him otherwise no, It's like, Okay, maybe
- 26:24Speaker 1: I'm not going through you, you know. But whenever I
- 26:27Speaker 1: feel like someone doesn't put that, And that's another thing
- 26:29Speaker 1: I think people also need to consider is like sometimes
- 26:33Speaker 1: when you have managers and agents, they say some managers
- 26:36Speaker 1: and exactly that happens a lot. It happens a lot
- 26:41Speaker 1: more than you think. So whenever I see like a
- 26:43Speaker 1: lot of people are always shooting for the top publicist
- 26:46Speaker 1: that reps everybody, or the top manager that reps everybody,
- 26:50Speaker 1: you guys are all signed to that same person. I'll
- 26:51Speaker 1: tell you right now. There was recently someone that we
- 26:55Speaker 1: wanted on the show. The didn't put it in front
- 26:58Speaker 1: of him went direct. He was like, hell, yeah see
- 27:01Speaker 1: see yeah, but go back to your story.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:05Speaker 3: But so you know, I just did that, and you
- 27:07Speaker 3: just constantly just keep going, keep going. How I just
- 27:10Speaker 3: success out here because people, you know, the haters in
- 27:13Speaker 3: the comments be like, you ain't this, you ain't that,
- 27:15Speaker 3: But I just success? Is am I doing better this
- 27:18Speaker 3: year than I did last year? Did I accomplish more
- 27:21Speaker 3: goals and more things this year that I set forth
- 27:24Speaker 3: than I did last year? And if I'm doing that,
- 27:27Speaker 3: then I'm doing good.
- 27:28Speaker 1: So you do like a comparison to your previous year.
- 27:31Speaker 3: I write down, like I like to write down all
- 27:33Speaker 3: my goals for the year, and then I like to
- 27:35Speaker 3: write down at the top of the your also write
- 27:37Speaker 3: down all the things I achieved for the previous year.
- 27:39Speaker 3: I like that because that teaches you just to be grateful.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Sometimes when we in it, it feel like you're going stagnant.
- 27:46Speaker 3: But you ever had somebody be like, yo, your podcast
- 27:49Speaker 3: killing it?
- 27:50Speaker 1: But then you be like, yo, it don't feel that way.
- 27:52Speaker 3: It don't feel like that way in the moment, like
- 27:55Speaker 3: it's like shut up, are you?
- 27:56Speaker 2: Are you? Are you trying to play with me because
- 27:57Speaker 2: I'm talking to be like no.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I used to work with Nick Cannon, and he used
- 28:02Speaker 1: to always tell me, like, take time to take it
- 28:04Speaker 1: all in, Like you're running, you're running, but you're not
- 28:06Speaker 1: taking time to take it in.
- 28:08Speaker 2: We living for the future to pass.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Most of us are not. We're not. And it got
- 28:12Speaker 1: to a point where I would get so depressed over like, oh,
- 28:15Speaker 1: I fucked up here or I messed up here, and
- 28:17Speaker 1: my dad would say, like, Okay, that's it. You're gonna
- 28:19Speaker 1: start having to hang this stuff on your walls, like
- 28:21Speaker 1: you gotta go. This is what you call hang that
- 28:23Speaker 1: ship on the wall. And I started putting up like
- 28:26Speaker 1: posters in my house. And now I have, like I
- 28:27Speaker 1: call it the hall of fame of just shit that
- 28:29Speaker 1: I accomplished, and I put on the walls grants and
- 28:31Speaker 1: now I'm like, go, someone, that ship's old. That shit
- 28:33Speaker 1: need to come down.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Okay, we got we got better goals.
- 28:37Speaker 1: But the truth of the matter is I like that
- 28:39Speaker 1: because I do goal boards every year, but I've never
- 28:41Speaker 1: thought about putting the stuff that I previously accomplished. I
- 28:44Speaker 1: like taking a picture and go, damn, okay, that was
- 28:46Speaker 1: on the list. I didn't realize that, you.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Know, But but I think, don't even realize that you
- 28:50Speaker 2: accomplished so much.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you really don't, especially if you're a go getter
- 28:53Speaker 1: and you're consistently moving that goal post. That's a great
- 28:56Speaker 1: way to do it. So after you've accomplished like winning
- 29:02Speaker 1: the festival festal, now you're doing these tour dates. You
- 29:07Speaker 1: do the Cat Williams thing, what's the next play?
- 29:10Speaker 3: The next play was okay, so years ago, this had
- 29:13Speaker 3: to be two thousand and twelve, And.
- 29:16Speaker 1: I want everybody to pay attention to how much time
- 29:19Speaker 1: and consistency his story is taking twenty twelve.
- 29:23Speaker 3: I used to And you know what I love about
- 29:26Speaker 3: this city is you can meet some time hearted people
- 29:29Speaker 3: that will make you feel comfortable.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I love people who don't chase you away from your dreams.
- 29:34Speaker 3: And I say that because you could be in situations
- 29:38Speaker 3: that make you not feel good, and it can kind
- 29:41Speaker 3: of deter you from achieving your goals because you revert
- 29:44Speaker 3: to this depressed person or this hermit or whatever, and
- 29:48Speaker 3: it pushes you farther away from your dreams. But shout
- 29:50Speaker 3: out to all the people out there that make you
- 29:52Speaker 3: feel comfortable, that may uplift you, that don't try to
- 29:56Speaker 3: be sexual with you or anything like that just make
- 29:58Speaker 3: you just really.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Allow you to exist. It was this guy.
- 30:02Speaker 3: His name is Billy Williams. He used to be on
- 30:04Speaker 3: The Martin Show. He's really good friends with Martin Lawrence.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Billy Williams. Okay, okay, so yeah, so he so one night,
- 30:13Speaker 3: me and we used to always go. I used to
- 30:15Speaker 3: go meet him outside of his apartment. You know, never
- 30:18Speaker 3: went in. Always just meet him outside pick him up.
- 30:20Speaker 3: We would go hiking and we would just talk talk talk.
- 30:23Speaker 3: So one night he was like, hey, meet me, meet me,
- 30:25Speaker 3: Come pick me up. He said, he said, not come
- 30:27Speaker 3: pick me up. He said, meet me at Red Lobster.
- 30:30Speaker 3: I said, okay, Billy, I'm about to go to this party.
- 30:32Speaker 3: He said, stop by. He said, please just stop by
- 30:34Speaker 3: for me. Stop by Red Lobster.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I stopped by. It's him, a girl and Martin Lawrence.
- 30:39Speaker 2: He introduces me.
- 30:40Speaker 1: He didn't tell you that that was coming up.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Tall introduced me to Martin Lawrence.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Fast forward a few years later, Martin Lawrence allowed me
- 30:47Speaker 3: to feature all of his shows at the Comedy Store.
- 30:50Speaker 2: And then starting in July, be on tour with him
- 30:55Speaker 2: on twelve cities.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it's amazing how everything starts to work and full
- 31:00Speaker 3: circle of moments and stuff that you experienced in the
- 31:03Speaker 3: past and then it comes.
- 31:05Speaker 2: To fuition in the future. You see what I'm saying.
- 31:07Speaker 2: So you just never know.
- 31:09Speaker 3: That's another reason why I like to just stay out
- 31:11Speaker 3: of stuff and drama and stuff, because you just never
- 31:13Speaker 3: know where things will end up and how people try
- 31:15Speaker 3: to treat people good, you know, yeah, but I will
- 31:17Speaker 3: get with your.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Ass if I have to.
- 31:19Speaker 1: You're hilarious because you know some of.
- 31:20Speaker 2: These people will try you out here.
- 31:22Speaker 1: So how so you're now going on the tour with
- 31:25Speaker 1: Martin Lawrence. I literally just saw that. Yeah, yeah, I
- 31:30Speaker 1: was like wait, wait what of course, my head was like, oh,
- 31:33Speaker 1: we gotta get Yeah, he's headlined, and I saw that
- 31:36Speaker 1: was a lot of good names on it is DC
- 31:38Speaker 1: Young Fly, Chico Bean. There's a bunch of people, Yeah,
- 31:41Speaker 1: Dion Cole, Dion Cole, and you are awesome, Benji Brown.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah, we're from Florida.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're gonna be on all the twelve dates.
- 31:49Speaker 2: I'm gonna be on twelve days. But it's a lot of.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Dates, Okay, yeah, awesome and your special? Are we getting
- 31:55Speaker 1: inching closer to your special now?
- 31:57Speaker 2: Yes? So that we got to just go back a
- 31:59Speaker 2: little bit.
- 31:59Speaker 3: So so in two thousand and twenty twenty one, I remember,
- 32:06Speaker 3: I believe it might have been twenty twenty one.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Like yeah, after COVID, right right on the ending of COVID, Yeah, COVID. Okay, Okay,
- 32:13Speaker 1: so you know Houston never closed. I didn't know, so, yeah,
- 32:16Speaker 1: they never closed.
- 32:18Speaker 2: So I was talking to.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Keith no to Dave Chappelle one night, this rapper Trade
- 32:26Speaker 3: of Truth had had a comedy night at the House
- 32:30Speaker 3: of Blues in Houston. He's a rapper, he does a
- 32:32Speaker 3: celebrity weekend whatever.
- 32:34Speaker 1: So were you out there for that.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 3: He flies us out and everything and take care of
- 32:38Speaker 3: us and we experienced the whole weekend people that he like,
- 32:41Speaker 3: and we perform on Sunday. He had Dave Chappelle as well.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Dave Chappelle was talking to me, just like me and
- 32:46Speaker 3: you talking. He was like, hey, every comic. He didn't
- 32:49Speaker 3: touch me.
- 32:49Speaker 2: He was like, every comic should live in New York
- 32:52Speaker 2: for at least two years. So I kind of took
- 32:53Speaker 2: that to heart. I was like, well, shit, you know,
- 32:55Speaker 2: it's the pandemic.
- 32:56Speaker 3: I don't feel like nothing really popping in LA and
- 32:58Speaker 3: all the auditions is self tape now you no longer
- 33:01Speaker 3: have to be here to audition.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:03Speaker 3: I just had an audition today and it was just
- 33:05Speaker 3: self tape, and it's here, it's gonna shoot in LA.
- 33:07Speaker 3: So everything's self taped now, so you could basically live
- 33:10Speaker 3: anywhere else.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Oh I don't know that.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know, only commercial auditions are still doing
- 33:14Speaker 3: some some of them are still in person. So so
- 33:18Speaker 3: I was like, all right, cool, I thought about it.
- 33:19Speaker 3: So I hit Keith Robinson. I said, hey, man, what
- 33:22Speaker 3: do you think about me move? He's like, I think
- 33:23Speaker 3: you'll do good at out here, he said. I said,
- 33:26Speaker 3: I'm gonna come visit first. So I went out there
- 33:28Speaker 3: in September. He got me an audition at the Comedy
- 33:30Speaker 3: Seller and st passed me.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Wow on the first one, on the first audition. Yeah,
- 33:35Speaker 1: that's a that's a big feat for New York. Yes,
- 33:38Speaker 1: because I'm familiar with the New York landscape and the
- 33:40Speaker 1: Seller is one of the harder Yeah, like literally the
- 33:43Speaker 1: hardest club. Like I know Eagles in that circuit, Eagle
- 33:45Speaker 1: past every single club. The Seller was the last one.
- 33:49Speaker 2: It was my first.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a huge accomplishment. Okay, So so he.
- 33:54Speaker 3: Got me the audition, st passed me in September. I
- 33:56Speaker 3: moved out there in November. Oh shoot, yeah, something happened.
- 34:00Speaker 3: I got a booking in with some good money. So
- 34:02Speaker 3: I was supposed to move November, be in my apartment
- 34:03Speaker 3: in November first, but I kind of ended up moving
- 34:05Speaker 3: towards like the middle or the end of November twenty
- 34:08Speaker 3: twenty one, and then I stayed out there for two years,
- 34:10Speaker 3: and then I moved back here in January Los Angeles
- 34:15Speaker 3: January twenty twenty four.
- 34:17Speaker 1: And you weren't just doing the October, No, you were
- 34:20Speaker 1: doing it all the different.
- 34:21Speaker 3: The Seller, the Stand, and New York Comedy Club with
- 34:25Speaker 3: my three main clubs, which you were doing really good.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I did.
- 34:29Speaker 2: I was lucky enough to be able to work those
- 34:31Speaker 2: top clubs like that.
- 34:32Speaker 1: And I also like this consistency is very, very prevalent
- 34:37Speaker 1: in your whole story. It's like you heard Chappelle say, hey,
- 34:40Speaker 1: you need to do two years you didn't play. You
- 34:43Speaker 1: were like, oh, you need to do two years there.
- 34:44Speaker 3: I was like, boom, the industry already set up for
- 34:46Speaker 3: me to do two years there. So that that works
- 34:48Speaker 3: because if I had to audition all the time, I
- 34:50Speaker 3: don't know if I would have just if the pandemic
- 34:52Speaker 3: didn't happen, I would have just moved out there and
- 34:54Speaker 3: then you just go dead for like two years of
- 34:56Speaker 3: auditioning and stuff.
- 34:57Speaker 2: But you know, I was like, all right, boom, everything's
- 35:00Speaker 2: a lining.
- 35:00Speaker 1: But now, but this is the end of COVID Because
- 35:02Speaker 1: New York was like Darth Vader during I remember.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Cold in November, but they still were having shown. But
- 35:08Speaker 2: this is twenty one or twenty two, well twenty one
- 35:11Speaker 2: November twenty twenty.
- 35:12Speaker 3: One, okay, okay, so you're out there basically, you know,
- 35:14Speaker 3: a year and a half outside of the actual first shutdown,
- 35:17Speaker 3: which this March twenty twenty, so it was still a
- 35:20Speaker 3: little like inching, but come twenty twenty two it started boom.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Twenty twenty three, it was no and then I left
- 35:26Speaker 2: January twenty.
- 35:27Speaker 1: So much respect to you for how serious you're taking this,
- 35:31Speaker 1: yeah dream like I mean, well it's not a dream
- 35:33Speaker 1: because it's happening. But I'm saying, like, I love how
- 35:37Speaker 1: driven you are in this whole story. You're yeah, like
- 35:40Speaker 1: you have to be made like there's no distractions, there's
- 35:43Speaker 1: no I see nothing but focus.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 35:46Speaker 1: It's really really beautiful.
- 35:47Speaker 3: And so October thirtieth, my mother said that was her
- 35:51Speaker 3: birthday gift to me to shoot her special, and I'm like,
- 35:53Speaker 3: shut up, no one, but yeah, October thirtieth, twenty twenty three,
- 35:59Speaker 3: I shot my special at the.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Sellar. Yeah, and I love it because the seller is
- 36:05Speaker 2: just so willing to help. Shout out to Liz.
- 36:07Speaker 1: You know, she came in.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I just had say, hey, Les, can I shoot my special? Hair?
- 36:11Speaker 3: Seeing a couple other people had shot their specials there,
- 36:14Speaker 3: and you know, I talked to them. They gave me
- 36:16Speaker 3: options for a camera crew. She gave me options. She said,
- 36:18Speaker 3: it's totally up to you who you want to choose.
- 36:21Speaker 3: She said, we are here to help there, to help
- 36:23Speaker 3: the comic. And I shot my special there and I
- 36:26Speaker 3: shot my special A left child.
- 36:28Speaker 1: What did you say?
- 36:29Speaker 2: I shot my special and left?
- 36:31Speaker 1: Oh for real?
- 36:32Speaker 2: Yeah, move back?
- 36:33Speaker 1: Well, you know what I wanted to know. Why did
- 36:36Speaker 1: you feel it was so important for you to shoot
- 36:38Speaker 1: the special at the cellar?
- 36:42Speaker 3: I felt like it was just a great venue. And
- 36:44Speaker 3: also like to watch the trajectory of people around me.
- 36:47Speaker 3: That's what I look at.
- 36:49Speaker 1: What do you mean by that?
- 36:51Speaker 3: Just I can map out sometimes off of IMDb, off
- 36:55Speaker 3: a social media post, I can map people's trajectory, so
- 36:59Speaker 3: like where their career kind of started to start to
- 37:03Speaker 3: get like a little leg up, and then where it
- 37:05Speaker 3: went fast.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Like the tipping point. Like you can you can see
- 37:08Speaker 1: the tipping point.
- 37:10Speaker 2: You can see the growth.
- 37:11Speaker 3: You can see like the beginning stages when they were
- 37:13Speaker 3: still looking raggedy, and then they went up and they
- 37:15Speaker 3: was able to get a.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Nice pair of shoes and one good suit.
- 37:18Speaker 3: And then you started to see that their videos started
- 37:20Speaker 3: to go viral here and then they put they shot
- 37:22Speaker 3: the special here.
- 37:23Speaker 2: So I'll watch other people how they move, you know.
- 37:27Speaker 1: I like that. Yeah, you have to.
- 37:29Speaker 3: You have to be aware of everybody that is around you,
- 37:33Speaker 3: because I didn't know about entering comedy festivals until I
- 37:35Speaker 3: saw other comedians in comedy festivals posting their stuff like, hey, y'all,
- 37:40Speaker 3: I'm in this comedy festival posting it up. I got
- 37:43Speaker 3: accepted in on their uh Instagram, so I would write
- 37:46Speaker 3: down the comedy festival. I'll go to the website research it,
- 37:49Speaker 3: look at the date that they were taking submissions.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Be ready for the next year.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I love it.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm watching everything.
- 37:55Speaker 1: You do well since you watched, and I'm about to
- 37:57Speaker 1: learn how we take what is this a hard boiled egg?
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't have no salt though.
- 38:05Speaker 1: It's in the back. It's like you might not.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Season your food.
- 38:08Speaker 1: It's in the back. If you go in the back.
- 38:11Speaker 1: You know, when you walked in, you were all nice, Oh,
- 38:13Speaker 1: look how nice it is in that back kitchen.
- 38:15Speaker 2: This egg might be deformed. What happened to the front
- 38:18Speaker 2: half of it?
- 38:20Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 38:20Speaker 2: You done gave me all eggs.
- 38:22Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know.
- 38:23Speaker 2: If I.
- 38:25Speaker 1: I don't know, I never do that, or maybe you
- 38:28Speaker 1: boil it the.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Way it could be because it was it was only
- 38:31Speaker 3: a small pot and it wasn't fully emerging water, so
- 38:34Speaker 3: the yolk kind of went to one side.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so we do we need salt because I could
- 38:38Speaker 1: call cup but I feel like ramen is already salty.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Did you put all those seasoning packets in it? Just
- 38:47Speaker 1: too Yeah? Yeah, nah, that's salty. That's salty. I don't
- 38:51Speaker 1: season my food. So when I go in your house,
- 38:55Speaker 1: if I were to go in your fridge right now, you.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Ain't gonna see no season So I don't even know
- 38:59Speaker 2: why I'm over.
- 39:00Speaker 1: You're talking, but I'm saying, like when you go in
- 39:01Speaker 1: your if I was like, hey, I'm gonna swing by
- 39:03Speaker 1: the house. The first thing I like to do when
- 39:05Speaker 1: I go to people fruit. Oh it's fruit, So there's
- 39:08Speaker 1: something in there.
- 39:08Speaker 2: So you are going and a lot of green juices?
- 39:12Speaker 2: Why because you know what you mean?
- 39:15Speaker 1: You buy the document.
- 39:16Speaker 3: It's like the average person isn't getting enough vegetable intakes
- 39:20Speaker 3: because even when we do eat vegetables nowadays, we're putting
- 39:23Speaker 3: so much salt and seasoning and boiling them all the way,
- 39:26Speaker 3: he says, So it's better. It's really good to juice.
- 39:28Speaker 3: So then I just buy the juices instead of using
- 39:31Speaker 3: my juice machine.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Where do you buy your juices at?
- 39:33Speaker 3: I like to get mine at Trader Show Trader joels, Yeah,
- 39:37Speaker 3: I try to drink one a day. It's thirty days,
- 39:39Speaker 3: so ninety dollars a month because they about three dollars.
- 39:42Speaker 3: Walmart is another good places to get them too.
- 39:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna go do that.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Yeah, So I juice every day.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Your say you say you juice every day like you're
- 39:51Speaker 1: the one making it.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I'm Barney. Well.
- 39:55Speaker 1: First of all, I will say this, I just discovered
- 39:57Speaker 1: Trader Joe's recently, and it in the.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Last couple of years.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Mine was like the last three months. But I will
- 40:04Speaker 1: say this, Trader Joe's makes it so easy if you
- 40:07Speaker 1: don't know how to cook. Have you walked through their
- 40:10Speaker 1: frozen food sex show?
- 40:11Speaker 2: But this guy was telling me you need to get
- 40:13Speaker 2: their orange chicken.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Bro I just made that orange chicken last night.
- 40:16Speaker 2: How was it? It was delicious, So I say, it's
- 40:18Speaker 2: like prebade and everything.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's literally like even their karaoke chicken, like you
- 40:23Speaker 1: could buy their stuff. And I get a rice maker,
- 40:27Speaker 1: which I used to like, always buy rice about.
- 40:30Speaker 2: The inciant rice. Nowadays I used to do that.
- 40:33Speaker 1: But if you the cheapness or the frugal part of me,
- 40:37Speaker 1: or the becoming a mom part of me, I decided
- 40:39Speaker 1: to go to Target. They sell the mini rice maker
- 40:41Speaker 1: for twenty bucks. I promise you you get one bag
- 40:44Speaker 1: of bassetti or jasmine rice. However you like your rice.
- 40:47Speaker 1: It takes like thirty minutes.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Because I don't know how to cook. Rice is hard
- 40:51Speaker 2: to cook.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I promise you this rice cooker will change the game.
- 40:56Speaker 1: It's twenty bucks. You go on the Target. You get
- 40:58Speaker 1: your little twenty dollar rice cooker. It comes with the
- 41:00Speaker 1: little measuring cup. You put a cup of water, two
- 41:02Speaker 1: cups of water, a cup of rice. You have the
- 41:05Speaker 1: best tasting rice. And the cool thing is that ain't
- 41:08Speaker 1: nothing with the devil if you if you leave, you
- 41:11Speaker 1: can come home and the rice is so warm and
- 41:13Speaker 1: the cooker mm, so you have fresh rice.
- 41:15Speaker 2: So why even go out?
- 41:16Speaker 1: Yeah? And then Trader Joe's, you could get the orange chicken,
- 41:19Speaker 1: get a bag of broccoli, put it in the stove.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Within ten fifteen minutes, you have a whole meal with
- 41:23Speaker 1: a leftover. Now I'm Chinese, yep, I promise you, because
- 41:27Speaker 1: I used to spend so much on Chinese food, like
- 41:29Speaker 1: once or twice a week. But Trader Joe's has the
- 41:30Speaker 1: ultimate hack.
- 41:31Speaker 2: I'm a transracial cooker.
- 41:33Speaker 1: You're I'm telling you. I promise you if you just
- 41:35Speaker 1: take another look at that Trader Joe's frozen aile, you
- 41:38Speaker 1: won't have to eat out as much.
- 41:40Speaker 3: And Trader Joe's damn ploys always got a good attitude.
- 41:44Speaker 3: And they be like, you want us to help you
- 41:46Speaker 3: to your car? And I'd be like, come on, strong man, shit,
- 41:49Speaker 3: that's all I need is a Trader Joe man in
- 41:51Speaker 3: my life.
- 41:51Speaker 1: And the U And they give like your kid a
- 41:54Speaker 1: bunch of stickers, And I don't really like that because
- 41:57Speaker 1: you know, my house will be covered in stickers that
- 41:59Speaker 1: I can't get. OK, But my daughter likes it.
- 42:02Speaker 2: She'd be like, where's my stickers? Oh? So she come
- 42:04Speaker 2: to expect it.
- 42:17Speaker 1: So this is a good dish. But I mean, I
- 42:20Speaker 1: probably would never do this again. I like the Ramen
- 42:23Speaker 1: without the egg.
- 42:24Speaker 2: I'll never do it again either.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Who would have ever thought, because when we grew up,
- 42:30Speaker 3: ramen was like a struggle meal. Now they selling rawmen
- 42:34Speaker 3: in restaurants and naming the restaurant Ramen, and then they're
- 42:38Speaker 3: selling these dishes for twenty twenty five dollars.
- 42:41Speaker 1: I will. I'll say this though, I've never gone to
- 42:44Speaker 1: Ramen place and actually spend No, I'm lying, I took.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I did buy one Ramen dish once, but yeah, I
- 42:50Speaker 1: can't my brain in my brain, I can't do it.
- 42:53Speaker 1: But anywhere you eat now it's expensive. You could go
- 42:56Speaker 1: to McDonald's and it's like seven dollars fry.
- 43:00Speaker 2: I like to get a coke and a small fried
- 43:02Speaker 2: and that'd be seven dollars.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Okay, I gotta tell you this quick little half that
- 43:07Speaker 1: I just discovered the other day, and my homie was
- 43:08Speaker 1: laughing at me. I don't know that this is every
- 43:12Speaker 1: Taco Bell, but Taco Bell released like a frozen slurpy. Ooh,
- 43:17Speaker 1: and they have like a dragon fruits frozen slurpy. Okay,
- 43:21Speaker 1: I'm forty Okay. Little stupid things like really excite me. Yeah,
- 43:25Speaker 1: and I call my homie and I was like, yo,
- 43:26Speaker 1: treat yourself today. He's like, what you're talking about? I said,
- 43:28Speaker 1: Taco Bell has a happy hour. I didn't even know about.
- 43:31Speaker 1: From two to five hour, they got a happy hour
- 43:33Speaker 1: and you could get these slurpees for a dollar thirty.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I was calling him, like, yo, this is the best
- 43:39Speaker 1: day ever to keep dragon bro.
- 43:41Speaker 3: He was.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I was like, yo, I just finished the surpee and
- 43:44Speaker 1: he's like. I was like, but I want another one.
- 43:46Speaker 1: He's like, turn around. I say, you know it. I
- 43:47Speaker 1: turned around, went back and the guy at the Taco
- 43:50Speaker 1: Bell was laughing at me. He was like, a Taco
- 43:52Speaker 1: Bell and get one, yo, I promise you that dragon fruit.
- 43:57Speaker 2: You know what. I like.
- 43:58Speaker 1: It's better than the seven day beer.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Are you cherry lemonade from Chick fil A? No, it's seasonal.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Oh my god, a real piece of crack heaven?
- 44:07Speaker 1: Really, but is it unhappy hour? Do they give a
- 44:09Speaker 1: happy yes? I think the happy hour makes it seem
- 44:14Speaker 1: like a little bit more like riskale, like oh my god,
- 44:18Speaker 1: I'm really coming up.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but uh, I will say, shot gotta be flirted with. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 3: somebody gonna come in there flirting.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but yeah, no I promise you it is
- 44:29Speaker 1: the best slurpye And I don't know if they do
- 44:31Speaker 1: it with every Taco Bell, but I just recently was
- 44:33Speaker 1: at a Taco Bell and they were like happy hour
- 44:35Speaker 1: two to five, and I was like what, and I
- 44:37Speaker 1: loved it even more. But it is the best slurpee.
- 44:40Speaker 1: It is by far trump's all the other slurpees. I
- 44:42Speaker 1: love it. But in another hack, I learned.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Fruit too, but that wasn't popular when we were dragging
- 44:48Speaker 2: fruit no fruit when we were kids.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Have you actually eaten it though?
- 44:53Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 44:54Speaker 1: I've never had one, oh for real yellow.
- 44:56Speaker 2: And pink one.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't get it from a not Trader Joe's.
- 45:01Speaker 3: I never seen it in there, Whole foods, whole foods.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I I have eating one broke. You think I'm ever
- 45:07Speaker 1: in whole foods?
- 45:09Speaker 2: Yo, you gotta try that dragon fruit though I don't.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I don't even know, Like if you showed me a
- 45:13Speaker 1: dragon fruit, I wouldn't even know what it looks like.
- 45:16Speaker 1: It has like porcupines on them a little bit. Okay, Yeah,
- 45:20Speaker 1: I don't know. I like the slurpee.
- 45:22Speaker 2: I like exotic fruits.
- 45:23Speaker 1: That's my little vice, exotic fruits. Yeah, yeah, No, I'll
- 45:29Speaker 1: stick to the I just never know what parts to
- 45:32Speaker 1: eat and what parts not to or what have you.
- 45:35Speaker 1: So take me through the special, you release its anticipate, like,
- 45:38Speaker 1: bring me to the anticipation of like you get it back.
- 45:43Speaker 1: How you feel watching it? Did you watch it? It
- 45:45Speaker 1: took me.
- 45:46Speaker 2: I swear to god, it took me three weeks to
- 45:48Speaker 2: watch it.
- 45:48Speaker 1: What do you mean three weeks?
- 45:50Speaker 2: They sent it to me and then they was like, hey,
- 45:52Speaker 2: did you get it. I couldn't stomach watch it myself.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Have you not watched yourself before?
- 45:58Speaker 2: Watched it before?
- 45:59Speaker 1: No, just other stuff you've watched, But when you watch
- 46:03Speaker 1: your special.
- 46:04Speaker 3: I couldn't stomach watching it. It took me three weeks
- 46:06Speaker 3: to ask you. And I had talk called Keith Robertson.
- 46:08Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, man, it took me three weeks,
- 46:10Speaker 3: and he was like, he was like, he said it
- 46:12Speaker 3: took me. He said it took him a month on
- 46:14Speaker 3: his first one.
- 46:15Speaker 1: So you mean like you would you would want to
- 46:17Speaker 1: click it and you just didn't click it.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 3: I would say every day I would get up and
- 46:20Speaker 3: watch it, because you gotta go over and watch it.
- 46:21Speaker 3: You gotta send them back.
- 46:23Speaker 1: Yeah, And then you paid for the production, right, do it?
- 46:26Speaker 2: Yep?
- 46:26Speaker 1: And oh my man.
- 46:28Speaker 2: For three weeks.
- 46:29Speaker 3: My team was That's another reason it came out so
- 46:30Speaker 3: late after Like, it didn't come out so late, but
- 46:33Speaker 3: it came out like five man months after I shot it.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Because it took me.
- 46:37Speaker 1: It was five months later.
- 46:38Speaker 2: It took me a month.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I know if it was my team, I would have
- 46:41Speaker 1: gotten phone calls, text messages, emails. They'll find a way
- 46:44Speaker 1: to be like, hey, what what what did you watch it?
- 46:47Speaker 1: You watched it? No, I'm saying. The production side, they
- 46:49Speaker 1: weren't like, hey, what's going on?
- 46:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 46:51Speaker 3: I mean, but they also have other people that they're
- 46:53Speaker 3: working with, so they were just waiting for me to
- 46:55Speaker 3: They didn't hit me.
- 46:56Speaker 2: After three it's like, hey, is everything okay? Did you
- 46:58Speaker 2: get it?
- 46:58Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, I'm watch it tomorrow. Then that's what
- 47:01Speaker 3: made me really double down.
- 47:02Speaker 1: To watch it. Did you Did you watch it with
- 47:04Speaker 1: anybody else? It was really good? It was really good.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Was really good.
- 47:08Speaker 2: I feel like you got to say it.
- 47:10Speaker 1: No, I don't have to say it. First of all,
- 47:12Speaker 1: I have too much history when it comes to comments.
- 47:15Speaker 1: I liked it. I thought it was very relatable as
- 47:18Speaker 1: a female dating Scenkle like everything. I was also like
- 47:22Speaker 1: cruising the comments. Of course you have to cruise the
- 47:24Speaker 1: comments to see what they're saying. Everybody was so excited
- 47:26Speaker 1: about you in a cat suit.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I had a little cameltoe. I didn't realize I had.
- 47:31Speaker 1: I wasn't even looking at that. Well.
- 47:33Speaker 2: The man said it, and I was like, oh, that's
- 47:35Speaker 2: a baby, I said, But you gotta be hard.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Some people appressed nah, I just I have two.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Like really negative comments, and I blocked those people from
- 47:43Speaker 3: the YouTube, so they're not showing up on the special.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Not because I don't I don't want anybody to see
- 47:49Speaker 3: a negative comment about it. It's because people choose to
- 47:52Speaker 3: attack you. And it's like, yo, I hate women like this,
- 47:56Speaker 3: What does it have to do with the special?
- 47:58Speaker 1: Bro?
- 47:58Speaker 2: What did I do to you?
- 48:00Speaker 3: It's like some people in the world wide of it.
- 48:04Speaker 3: See that's what I remember. I had a show in
- 48:06Speaker 3: New York and this guy was like, I don't think
- 48:09Speaker 3: you're funny. I said, I grew up in the era
- 48:12Speaker 3: where you can't just say that to people. If you
- 48:15Speaker 3: don't like something, just wait till you leave say it
- 48:17Speaker 3: to your friend.
- 48:18Speaker 1: You know what I mean. I think when it comes
- 48:20Speaker 1: to comedy, it's what I think, it's not.
- 48:22Speaker 3: It's not just about comedy in society. People feel like,
- 48:25Speaker 3: even I just saw something with Raven Simone and her
- 48:27Speaker 3: wife and she's like, hey guy. Her wife had said
- 48:30Speaker 3: she had never seen the That's So Raven show prior
- 48:33Speaker 3: to being in a relationship with Raven Simon, which nobody
- 48:36Speaker 3: that meets me isn't obligated to see all about your
- 48:39Speaker 3: show and all of my work, and you know what
- 48:41Speaker 3: I mean. So it's like people were giving this woman
- 48:44Speaker 3: death threats. But see, we live in a world now
- 48:46Speaker 3: where people can just type whatever they want and it's
- 48:49Speaker 3: no accountability. Back in the day when I went to school,
- 48:52Speaker 3: you talk bad about somebody, you're liable to meet them
- 48:54Speaker 3: on to meet them after school at three o'clock and
- 48:57Speaker 3: get your ass beat or get in the fire.
- 48:58Speaker 1: But I also don't think we were in like our
- 49:01Speaker 1: era is probably the Aol Instant Messenger era. It wasn't
- 49:04Speaker 1: as no, none of that. Facebook came out.
- 49:07Speaker 3: Facebook came out when I was in college and I'm
- 49:08Speaker 3: thirty seven. Yeah, so Facebook didn't come out till I
- 49:11Speaker 3: was in college. Because when I first went to college,
- 49:14Speaker 3: you had to have a die edu. When I first
- 49:16Speaker 3: joined Facebook, I had to have a die edu and
- 49:19Speaker 3: because I heard about it in two thousand and four
- 49:22Speaker 3: when I graduated high school. But I couldn't join because
- 49:24Speaker 3: I didn't have a die edu. You had to be
- 49:26Speaker 3: at the university, and that was when they first first Yeah,
- 49:28Speaker 3: when you went to community college, they don't still don't
- 49:30Speaker 3: give you an email do edu at most community colleges.
- 49:33Speaker 3: So I had to be at the because I didn't
- 49:35Speaker 3: go straight to college.
- 49:36Speaker 1: But I'm saying that I think the social media error
- 49:39Speaker 1: gave people a lot of confidences to.
- 49:41Speaker 3: Say whatever they want to people with no accountability and
- 49:45Speaker 3: so with that, So that's the reason why I deleted
- 49:48Speaker 3: two comments, because it's like, Yo, what does this have
- 49:50Speaker 3: to do with anything? You're just attacking me because you
- 49:53Speaker 3: woke up and decided you hate me. This has nothing
- 49:55Speaker 3: to do with the special, has nothing to do with anything.
- 49:58Speaker 3: You're just a miserable person and I think you can
- 50:00Speaker 3: run into that on the internet. Yeah, yeah, and you
- 50:03Speaker 3: attack me every day every day.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I black people.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I always say this too, like every day every comedian
- 50:08Speaker 1: has their audience, but I think most people laugh at
- 50:11Speaker 1: what they can relate to. So if I don't think
- 50:14Speaker 1: a comedian is funny. Like I tell people all the time,
- 50:17Speaker 1: I like people that have like childhood trauma, like the Sebastians,
- 50:21Speaker 1: the bill Birds, Like if your mom and your parents
- 50:24Speaker 1: were terrible, y'all give me that comedian John Wasamo, give
- 50:28Speaker 1: me all those motherfuckers, and I'm like, gonna have fun
- 50:30Speaker 1: all day. I enjoyed your special because I could relate
- 50:34Speaker 1: to it, and that's what makes it funny. So it's
- 50:36Speaker 1: very terrible when people can say to a comedy or
- 50:39Speaker 1: I don't think that comedian is funny. It's really subjective
- 50:43Speaker 1: to what you can relate to.
- 50:44Speaker 3: Like I can't say somebody successful is not funny. Yeah,
- 50:47Speaker 3: you can't say that somebody that's really building up in
- 50:50Speaker 3: upcoming isn't funny, you know what I mean.
- 50:52Speaker 2: It's just like they're just not funny to you.
- 50:54Speaker 3: But you get people that go in and if this
- 50:57Speaker 3: person's not funny, they're there, they look like this, and
- 51:00Speaker 3: they look, what does that have to do with anything?
- 51:02Speaker 1: You're just that's called bullying. Cyber go to these.
- 51:05Speaker 2: Pages and these people are just yeah, No.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I've had people comment on our show because I usually
- 51:10Speaker 1: wear like a backwards hast I've heard people go into
- 51:13Speaker 1: comments like why is this fifty year old wearing backwards?
- 51:16Speaker 1: I'm like you, I'll go to their page like I
- 51:21Speaker 1: know you ain't talking ship.
- 51:24Speaker 3: And then I have God tell me recently, that's why
- 51:26Speaker 3: you old and you and don't nobody want you? And
- 51:29Speaker 3: I was like, do you really actually looking at me, sir?
- 51:32Speaker 3: Do you actually think nobody wants me? My face looked
- 51:35Speaker 3: the same with or without makeup on. Do you really
- 51:37Speaker 3: think I'm walking in the world and every man is like,
- 51:40Speaker 3: forget her, we don't want her.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Like no, But I do think that the people do
- 51:46Speaker 1: need to address like the insensitivity, because I will say, sick,
- 51:49Speaker 1: a sick part of me, Like, I'll scroll through all
- 51:52Speaker 1: the comments and the ones that are negative are the
- 51:54Speaker 1: ones that get my attention. I do a little chuckle.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Sometimes I'll be like you want to respond to though,
- 51:59Speaker 3: why I don't The positive ones you'd be like, Then
- 52:04Speaker 3: a negative one you'd be like, you.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Know what you go to they paid you look at them,
- 52:08Speaker 2: but it's always.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Whoever you, whoever's dissing you. When you look them up,
- 52:11Speaker 1: you'd be like, come on, man.
- 52:14Speaker 3: And I was like, that's why you got buck teeth
- 52:15Speaker 3: I said, ma'am, do you know what buck teeth are?
- 52:18Speaker 3: Buck teeth is on your two front teeper.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Did you respond to her?
- 52:22Speaker 2: She had a gap this big?
- 52:24Speaker 1: Did you respond on? Did you respond?
- 52:26Speaker 3: I don't remember, Okay, sometimes I respond to people sometime
- 52:30Speaker 3: like this one girl recently, she was like, y'all look
- 52:32Speaker 3: old for millennials. Y'all really baby boomers? You know, baby
- 52:35Speaker 3: boomers will be like sixty.
- 52:37Speaker 1: And stuff like that.
- 52:38Speaker 3: And I was like, girl, I said she and she
- 52:41Speaker 3: I went to her page. She had a you know,
- 52:42Speaker 3: little light bo in a BBL that didn't match. I said, girl,
- 52:46Speaker 3: you talking. I said, you went to the Dominican Republic
- 52:49Speaker 3: and got all that surgery and they could unbig your back.
- 52:51Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 52:52Speaker 2: I said, your back is huge. And she was like, oh,
- 52:55Speaker 2: you just mas.
- 52:56Speaker 3: She been arguing for the last I stopped responding after
- 52:58Speaker 3: like two comments she been arguing with because people keep
- 53:01Speaker 3: finding stuff.
- 53:02Speaker 2: She been arguing with people in those comments for the
- 53:06Speaker 2: last two months.
- 53:08Speaker 1: That's funny. I think, yeah, I think there's a space
- 53:11Speaker 1: for people that are over opinionated on the Internet, and
- 53:14Speaker 1: again it's just to bring people down. I can't understand
- 53:17Speaker 1: what it's rooted in I've never really been. I'm one
- 53:20Speaker 1: of those type of people though, Yeah, but I'm more
- 53:23Speaker 1: like I like reading through comments. I just like reading
- 53:26Speaker 1: through comments, skimming to see what the gist of what
- 53:29Speaker 1: people's opinions are. But I don't know, I think I
- 53:32Speaker 1: think the whole comment thing is just.
- 53:34Speaker 2: I think blocking hurts them the most.
- 53:36Speaker 1: Blocking and people you go to their page.
- 53:38Speaker 2: They aren't even following you, or some people was like
- 53:41Speaker 2: they follow you.
- 53:42Speaker 3: And what I don't like about it is that some
- 53:45Speaker 3: people get mad at you for having an opinion, but
- 53:48Speaker 3: they have an opinion about you having an opinion.
- 53:50Speaker 2: So why is it okay for you to have an
- 53:51Speaker 2: opinion but not me to have an opinion?
- 53:53Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 53:54Speaker 2: Does that make sense?
- 53:55Speaker 1: No, it doesn't, it doesn't. I just think that there's
- 53:57Speaker 1: certain people that live for that. I'll go back to
- 54:00Speaker 1: my twin. My twin doesn't really attack people online, but
- 54:03Speaker 1: I will say, like, she'll literally lose sleepover fights on
- 54:07Speaker 1: social media, and I'll be like, she'll call me. She'll
- 54:10Speaker 1: start with I know you don't care, and I'm like, yeah, yeah,
- 54:13Speaker 1: I listen, but she'll she knows that whatever she's about
- 54:16Speaker 1: to tell me, I'm really not gonna give a fuck
- 54:19Speaker 1: about like or she'll like going on a rat with
- 54:21Speaker 1: like Beyonce and some ship and she just yeah, yeah,
- 54:29Speaker 1: I'll be like, I don't get it.
- 54:32Speaker 3: You know.
- 54:33Speaker 1: But there's a certain type of people that are really invested,
- 54:35Speaker 1: like they will lose sleep, they will get upset, they
- 54:37Speaker 1: will and I.
- 54:39Speaker 3: Promise little Uzzi Bert had a purse. I was like,
- 54:43Speaker 3: look at him with that perse on. Do you know
- 54:44Speaker 3: I got death threats for that? They said they was gonna.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Kill me, girl, I don't know. They're crazy, un alive me.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Are you able to make money off your socials now?
- 54:52Speaker 3: So I don't attack people, I just block them. So
- 54:55Speaker 3: I'm I'm pretty good at roasting.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Really good.
- 54:58Speaker 1: I could read you for filth on there, okay.
- 55:00Speaker 3: Like a housewife mixed with your your comedian nightmare of roasting.
- 55:06Speaker 3: But it's like you can't respond to people back in
- 55:09Speaker 3: that way because if they started to report me, and
- 55:11Speaker 3: people started to report me, they can.
- 55:12Speaker 2: Demonetize my page. So I just block them.
- 55:14Speaker 3: I just non no longer argue with them or if
- 55:16Speaker 3: I say something. It's just it's very common things that
- 55:19Speaker 3: it's like your back is big, that's not nothing triggering,
- 55:22Speaker 3: but if I was like, you ugly fat bitch, that
- 55:25Speaker 3: those are stuff that they can demonetize your page or actually,
- 55:29Speaker 3: you know, get you your page taken out, taken off. Yeah,
- 55:32Speaker 3: I've seen that happen to a comedian recently. He was
- 55:35Speaker 3: going in on people that was seeing stuff about how
- 55:38Speaker 3: he looked, and he went back and they took his
- 55:40Speaker 3: whole page.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Oh shoot, well, going back to your special, I did
- 55:45Speaker 1: your grandma watch it? And no, I don't know.
- 55:48Speaker 2: I don't. Sometimes don't want my family watching my stuff.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Well that's what I want watch it, but you know,
- 55:54Speaker 1: I don't just be like.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Hey, grandma, I watched a special, you know, but.
- 56:00Speaker 1: No, they like your mom she knows, yeah, because she's
- 56:03Speaker 1: all on.
- 56:03Speaker 2: My social media. But my family do. But I don't.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Also, not my grandparents. They would need help setting it up.
- 56:09Speaker 3: You have to go over there, put it, put YouTube
- 56:11Speaker 3: on the screen, set it up.
- 56:13Speaker 2: They can't. They can't asset stuff like that on their own.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Okay, okay, yeah, yeah, it's just that I know, since
- 56:19Speaker 1: you talked about I wonder I understand being related to
- 56:22Speaker 1: a comedian, like you're not going to always keep up
- 56:24Speaker 1: with everything they do. But I was just curious when
- 56:27Speaker 1: they do watch your stuff? Do they are they like
- 56:29Speaker 1: letting you do you? Or do they try to get
- 56:31Speaker 1: in the weeds and say, like, why was she performing
- 56:33Speaker 1: like that? Okay, perfect, because I'm not.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Doing anything derogatory. I'm just telling the stories that you
- 56:39Speaker 2: told me.
- 56:39Speaker 3: That's it.
- 56:39Speaker 1: Yeah, you're telling well, you're telling your truth. But I'm
- 56:43Speaker 1: I'm curious if there's anyone in your group that does
- 56:46Speaker 1: do that. Okay, cool, and you prefer.
- 56:48Speaker 3: That way, right, because they want to ask me for
- 56:50Speaker 3: money here and there, so they ain't gonna really rock
- 56:52Speaker 3: the boat. Yeah, And I'm not going on there saying
- 56:54Speaker 3: you dumb and you stupid. I'm attacking anybody. I'm just
- 56:58Speaker 3: basically saying, my grandma got the shakes, and I do
- 57:00Speaker 3: talk to my grandma. People like you don't talk to
- 57:02Speaker 3: your I'm like, I do joke with my grandma like that.
- 57:05Speaker 2: She like it. My grandma like it. I love this
- 57:07Speaker 2: favorite word is nigga your grandma's.
- 57:10Speaker 3: Favorite word, and the family has asked her to stop
- 57:13Speaker 3: saying it. My mother hates it, and my mother has
- 57:17Speaker 3: asked it. So I said, hey, so sometimes I call it.
- 57:19Speaker 3: I say hey, Grandma. I was like, look at that
- 57:21Speaker 3: nigga over there. She said, yeah, I don't like that nigga.
- 57:23Speaker 3: So we joke like that because that's her favorite word,
- 57:26Speaker 3: but she don't like She don't like to say it
- 57:27Speaker 3: around the rest of the family, so we joke with
- 57:30Speaker 3: it together.
- 57:31Speaker 2: That's your favorite word. Atactor for saying it.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Your special looks like you and your grandma have a
- 57:36Speaker 1: good relationship. You guys have a very cute, flirty, like
- 57:41Speaker 1: fun relationship.
- 57:42Speaker 2: Yo.
- 57:42Speaker 3: The craziest thing happened. So I took my grandparents at
- 57:45Speaker 3: the other day. I like, I told her they'd be
- 57:46Speaker 3: in Inglewood, so I took them about this something to eat.
- 57:49Speaker 3: So my grandma husband, he gonna say. The guy came
- 57:52Speaker 3: over as Hispanic guy helping us at the table.
- 57:55Speaker 2: He gonna say. He said to the guy, Tim, you
- 57:58Speaker 2: speak good English. I said, you can't say that to him.
- 58:02Speaker 2: He said what he said? He don't got no accent.
- 58:06Speaker 3: So the guy laughed because he wasn't offended. I said,
- 58:09Speaker 3: I said, grand daddy, he's American. People are from other places,
- 58:14Speaker 3: are born in America. I said, you were born in America.
- 58:17Speaker 3: He said, yes, I was, But he just laughed because
- 58:19Speaker 3: you can't how would you get mad at somebody that
- 58:21Speaker 3: this man is eighty nine years old. But when he
- 58:23Speaker 3: said it, I was like, yo, you just saying whatever
- 58:26Speaker 3: you wanted to this guy. I mean he was in awe,
- 58:29Speaker 3: like really wanting an answer.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:31Speaker 2: No, my grandparents are characters like what the Yeah.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I could see that. I just think watching the special,
- 58:40Speaker 1: I definitely could see that you guys have a good relationship.
- 58:43Speaker 1: How did how was the receiving of the special and like,
- 58:46Speaker 1: did you accomplish everything you wanted to in regards to
- 58:49Speaker 1: the special?
- 58:50Speaker 3: Yes, I feel like as far as everything I wanted
- 58:52Speaker 3: to put out in a special, you know, and then
- 58:54Speaker 3: just starting prepare for the next one.
- 58:56Speaker 1: That was my next year. Are you starting already to prepare?
- 58:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 59:00Speaker 1: You gotta write new jokes and then don't you have
- 59:02Speaker 1: to practice on the road for a while. Yeah.
- 59:04Speaker 3: So what I like to do is because everybody in
- 59:06Speaker 3: the world hasn't seen the special, and everybody that come
- 59:08Speaker 3: out the shows haven't seen the special, is just to
- 59:11Speaker 3: start to weaving new material in between.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:14Speaker 3: So you don't go up there just doing because to me,
- 59:17Speaker 3: when people come to come buy tickets, they bought tickets,
- 59:20Speaker 3: some hire a babysitter, some actually bought a new outfit,
- 59:25Speaker 3: buying drinks, They're going to go out to eat maybe
- 59:27Speaker 3: before and after, or.
- 59:28Speaker 2: They're gonna eat there. They're spending money.
- 59:30Speaker 3: So I don't think you should allow someone to spend
- 59:32Speaker 3: money and you just doing all new stuff that you
- 59:35Speaker 3: don't know whether or.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Not it works.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I agree with that. I agree with that.
- 59:38Speaker 1: So what if people when people come out to see
- 59:41Speaker 1: you on the road now they can expect a mix
- 59:43Speaker 1: of the new and.
- 59:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's other stuff I have that didn't make
- 59:47Speaker 2: the special as well.
- 59:48Speaker 1: So yeah, awesome. And now where does the transition for
- 59:52Speaker 1: podcasting come in?
- 59:53Speaker 2: Oh?
- 59:54Speaker 3: I had started podcasting years ago, but I stopped Okay, Yeah,
- 59:57Speaker 3: so I feel like you gotta let show people know
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: your personality.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that. Now, how how much? So you've
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: been doing it for how many years? You took a break?
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Took a break for two years?
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Okay? Is that the two years you did in New York?
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: Yeah? Ok it was just harder for me to get
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: resources and stuff out there, just because I lived in
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: New Jersey. I didn't live in New York.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Okay, so you did. You didn't know New Jersey City,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: You did New Jersey, New Jersey.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: I did a city, you know where Edge Order, New
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: Jersey is no so edge Order, so all the New
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: York sees.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: We see all of New York.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Soon as you look out my window, you can see
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: all the skylines to the buildings in the water in
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: New York. So we live right there. I live by
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: the water, so we can see New York. So I
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: lived over there, and it wasn't It wasn't an area
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: where the transit weren't very well New York, New Jersey.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: New Jersey City has good transit, you know, but not
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: out there. So it was hard for a lot of comedians.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: And some of them was like, oh, Uber over there.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: And somebody one day was like, yo, it's one eighty
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: one way to get to you.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: I said, yeah, I think who was it?
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I think Safe the Sounds lives over there.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Oh I didn't know that.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I think he did, because I think he said that
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Jour on the interview when he's talking about Brooklyn.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: Oh, for Brooklyn was like an hour and fifteen to
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: thirty minutes away with me.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he was talking about Brooklyn.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: And then I didn't even go over there, even though
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: I loved it as much because it was so far.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like a three hour shits in the car
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: well from Jersey. Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: But see the seller and all that stuff was only
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: like twenty It would take me about twenty four minutes
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: to get home and it would take me about thirty
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: five minutes to get to the city.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Okay, that's not bad. That's not a bad trade off.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: All right. So how can your fans keep up with you? Now?
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: Yeah, make sure you always follow me on social media.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: But to find everything about me, you can go to
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: my website www dot iamdsprings dot com.

- 1:01:50Speaker 1: trying to follow in your footsteps before we close out, I.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Would just stay stay consistent. I think that's the biggest thing.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I think that's definitely consistency. Consistent as much as you can. Yeah,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: and then that other thing that you mentioned earlier in
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: the interview about asking.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but sometimes don't ask when you're before you're ready.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: You think, so, I do thinks. So I think you
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: can like blow that one shot yeah okay, yeah.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Or you could just get a bad rip.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Just think, be consistent and do the work, the foundational
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: work first, and then once you get to a certain
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: place where people are like walking up to be like Yo,
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: that was really good, Like I like that, then you're
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: ready to maybe start asking people, oh, can I do
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: your show at the end. Prov But don't just say, Hey,
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: I'm starting comedy, can I do your show at the Yeah?
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: You know, so you gotta be specific when you talk
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: to people, because they'd be like, oh, yeah, That's all
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: I needed to know was go up and ask for opportunities.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: It's like, now you don't want to pre prematurely.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: To do the foundational work first. All right, guys, thank
