- 0:10Speaker 3: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 0:51Speaker 2: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Roger is here.
- 0:55Speaker 5: This is Misty.
- 0:56Speaker 3: This is Jay.
- 0:57Speaker 6: Marlena.
- 0:59Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Round out the crew. So I guess we can roll
- 1:04Speaker 2: on into the geek activities this week.
- 1:06Speaker 6: Sure.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Shoot.
- 1:09Speaker 4: You first, sir.
- 1:09Speaker 3: What did you do?
- 1:10Speaker 4: What was geeky in activities? Not much.
- 1:14Speaker 2: There wasn't a whole lot of activities, period. The thing
- 1:17Speaker 2: I did that I hated was painting more on this room,
- 1:20Speaker 2: which you can't tell. Which is what angers me, is
- 1:24Speaker 2: that I did it for like a whole morning and
- 1:26Speaker 2: worked on it for hours, and yeah, you can't really tell.
- 1:28Speaker 2: So it's really annoying, and I just hate household painting
- 1:31Speaker 2: at this point. Yeah, so. Other than that, I re-watched
- 1:38Speaker 2: in preparation for today's show that we'll get in later,
- 1:42Speaker 2: Nightmare on Elm Street.
- 1:42Speaker 4: The original.
- 1:43Speaker 2: So, yeah, I guess I'll use it to my advantage later.
- 1:48Speaker 2: We can compare and contrast or whatever the hell we're
- 1:50Speaker 2: going to do. Other than that, the only thing close
- 1:54Speaker 2: to watching I did was yesterday as I had my
- 1:56Speaker 2: morning coffee. I sat down, and I was like, okay,
- 1:59Speaker 2: I'm just going to watch something, whatever the hell's on,
- 2:01Speaker 2: and yeah, What a Girl Wants was on.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 2:04Speaker 5: I do miss Amanda Bynes. She was delightful.
- 2:07Speaker 7: Amanda.
- 2:07Speaker 2: So yeah, I just kind of watched about 20 minutes
- 2:09Speaker 2: as I sat there, prolonging the fact that I didn't
- 2:11Speaker 2: want to start painting.
- 2:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 2: So I was just, yeah, kind of chilling out, having
- 2:15Speaker 2: coffee with Amanda Bynes.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Before her head got freakishly large and then evened back out.
- 2:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 2: So yeah, I guess she went through that awkward stage
- 2:21Speaker 2: a little late, because yeah, she was cute as a kid,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and she got kind of weird for a while there.
- 2:25Speaker 5: She did the wiggly dance a lot.
- 2:27Speaker 2: So, yeah, it was, as I remembered, kind of predictable
- 2:31Speaker 2: and dorky, but that's pretty much it for my boring
- 2:35Speaker 2: week this week.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Anyone else? God, I think yours is pretty much the
- 2:38Speaker 4: same as mine.
- 2:39Speaker 5: You watch What a Girl Wants To?
- 2:41Speaker 2: No. Lucky bastard.
- 2:43Speaker 4: I went and bought the plush toys for the movie,
- 2:45Speaker 4: from the movie. But since it's Derby Week, everybody here
- 2:49Speaker 4: in Louisville knows, I was working and working and working
- 2:53Speaker 4: and working and going in early and working, getting my
- 2:55Speaker 4: ass kicked and working. So I didn't really have that
- 2:58Speaker 4: much time to do anything when I was off hours,
- 3:03Speaker 4: rather than go home and go to sleep and wake
- 3:05Speaker 4: up and get ready to do the same thing the
- 3:07Speaker 4: next day. So I think the one thing I did
- 3:10Speaker 4: do was I watched, I finally checked out Miyazaki's latest movie, Ponyo,
- 3:15Speaker 4: which is kind of like a loose adaptation of The
- 3:18Speaker 4: Little Mermaid, where It's like a goldfish that dreams about
- 3:21Speaker 4: being a human and can will itself into a human.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Is there singing involved.
- 3:30Speaker 4: At any point? There is no singing, thank God. But
- 3:32Speaker 4: there's one point where she's just like, teeth! And her
- 3:36Speaker 4: teeth pop out.
- 3:37Speaker 9: And I'm like, yes!
- 3:39Speaker 4: That's awesome. It's really cute. It's one of his more
- 3:42Speaker 4: children-oriented movies, but the animation is awesome, really fluid, and
- 3:49Speaker 4: I think that's the only geeky, geeky thing that I did.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I've heard it's pretty good. No, it is good.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I love it.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Yeah, we were pretty much slackers too. I think we
- 3:58Speaker 5: all pretty much slacked this week on geek activities. Last
- 4:02Speaker 5: night we settled down and watched Boondock Saints 2. Did
- 4:08Speaker 5: you like the first one?
- 4:09Speaker 4: The first one was, it's mindless gunplay and it was alright.
- 4:12Speaker 5: The second one doesn't even have as much bile. It's
- 4:15Speaker 5: just pointless.
- 4:15Speaker 4: For some reason, a lot of people I've talked to
- 4:18Speaker 4: love the characters and are like, this is one of
- 4:20Speaker 4: the baddest movies ever.
- 4:22Speaker 5: And I'm like, really? I hated Julie Benz in this movie.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Her over the top. I couldn't decide if it was
- 4:27Speaker 5: Texan or Southern accent because it seemed to switch back
- 4:30Speaker 5: and forth. She was just incredibly obnoxious throughout the thing.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Oh my god, I'm pretty sure Sean Patrick Flannery ate
- 4:36Speaker 5: a former version of himself.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Oh my god.
- 4:40Speaker 5: In some angles, he looks like he's turning into Alan Rickman.
- 4:43Speaker 5: I'm not sure how you even do this. It's like
- 4:50Speaker 5: at first, like when I was first watching, I'm like,
- 4:52Speaker 5: all right, I know who that is. I know that.
- 4:54Speaker 5: I know who that is. Who is this guy?
- 4:56Speaker 2: He's this portly gentleman.
- 4:58Speaker 5: At the beginning, they all have these beards. You're used
- 5:01Speaker 5: to Billy Connolly's character having a beard. And then, uh,
- 5:04Speaker 5: The other guy whose name just completely flew out of
- 5:06Speaker 5: my head, the less attractive brother.
- 5:08Speaker 2: I don't think anybody knows his name.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Who's now become the more attractive brother.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Which is sad.
- 5:11Speaker 7: Oh, really?
- 5:12Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 5:13Speaker 5: It is pretty sad because back in the day, Sean
- 5:15Speaker 5: Patrick Flannery, he was gorgeous.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Back when he was young Indy.
- 5:18Speaker 5: Before he got all... Now his face is all just
- 5:21Speaker 5: puffy and just like... They all have their shirt off
- 5:24Speaker 5: at some point. This is the first time I've ever said, oh,
- 5:26Speaker 5: for the love of God, man, just put your shirt
- 5:28Speaker 5: back on.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Maybe he's actually turning into Harrison Ford at this point.
- 5:32Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 5:34Speaker 5: At this point, I might rather see Harrison Ford with
- 5:36Speaker 5: his shirt off.
- 5:37Speaker 2: He's still hot.
- 5:38Speaker 5: What are you talking about? Yeah, it wasn't good. But
- 5:41Speaker 5: other than that, there's a few points in dialogue where
- 5:45Speaker 5: I was just like, oh, for the love of God,
- 5:46Speaker 5: are you serious? Somebody wrote this?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Some of the dialogue sucked.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Most of the dialogue sucked. There were very few lines
- 5:52Speaker 5: that you could actually... Oh, that was witty. That was funny.
- 5:55Speaker 5: And they were all said by the brothers because the
- 5:57Speaker 5: rest of it just sucked.
- 5:58Speaker 3: But yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 10: Billy Benz's character seemed like it was trying to outdo
- 6:01Speaker 10: the William Dafoe character.
- 6:04Speaker 5: You can't.
- 6:04Speaker 3: You can't.
- 6:05Speaker 5: William Dafoe was a genius in that role. And just
- 6:08Speaker 5: absolute weirdness.
- 6:09Speaker 4: But she was just.
- 6:10Speaker 10: Yeah, it was like they were like, okay, we're going
- 6:11Speaker 10: to have to bring in a weird character. This other
- 6:13Speaker 10: person that can kind of be like him. That'll be
- 6:15Speaker 10: quirky and weird and... Yeah, she just turned out to
- 6:18Speaker 10: be more annoying than anything else.
- 6:22Speaker 5: So yeah, it just... I'm glad I don't own the
- 6:25Speaker 5: second movie. I will never see it again, and I'm
- 6:26Speaker 5: okay with it. Wow. Other than the Saturday morning, I
- 6:30Speaker 5: sat down and watched the... I'm pretty sure it was almost...
- 6:33Speaker 5: direct ripoff from fright night i watched uh never cry
- 6:37Speaker 5: werewolf it's yet you replace the vampire with a werewolf
- 6:42Speaker 5: and the boy with a girl and there you go.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah i'd never heard of this before but as you
- 6:47Speaker 2: reported it to me yeah it's almost uh line for
- 6:50Speaker 2: line note for note kind.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Of like i'll break it down for you well there's
- 6:53Speaker 5: because it's a girl she lives in an old neighborhood
- 6:55Speaker 5: and of course the new mysterious neighbor shows up And
- 6:59Speaker 5: that's his dog. He had a dog for some reason.
- 7:01Speaker 2: As opposed to a secretly gay best friend.
- 7:04Speaker 5: But yeah, then she's watching him through the window and
- 7:07Speaker 5: she sees him bring home a prostitute and kill her.
- 7:11Speaker 5: She calls the police and nobody believes her. And then
- 7:14Speaker 5: she watches a lot of late night television because apparently
- 7:16Speaker 5: girls don't get out. And then she's watching this apparently
- 7:18Speaker 5: instead of a vampire hunter show, she's watching a hunter show.
- 7:22Speaker 5: It's Kevin Sorbo as a wilderness hunter. Shooting big game.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Oh, shit.
- 7:28Speaker 5: He's hunting big game and shit. So she goes to
- 7:30Speaker 5: recruit his help, and he has to break it to her. Like, honey, no,
- 7:32Speaker 5: this is all fake. I'm not really a hunter. And
- 7:35Speaker 5: then he gets to eventually, he feels bad that she's
- 7:38Speaker 5: going to go die on her own.
- 7:40Speaker 2: So he goes after her and helps.
- 7:42Speaker 5: So yay, it all ends happily and funnily.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Chivalry.
- 7:44Speaker 5: But yeah, it's just pretty much scene for scene, character
- 7:47Speaker 5: for character ripoff of Fright Night. But it still has
- 7:49Speaker 5: its moments of entertainment, but by no means great. So
- 7:52Speaker 5: yay for sci-fi.
- 7:54Speaker 3: On Saturday morning, I watched Robot vs. Aztec Mummy.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Nice.
- 7:59Speaker 3: That sounds awesome.
- 8:00Speaker 5: The MFT3K.
- 8:00Speaker 10: Yeah, the Mystery Science Theater version, which was an earlier
- 8:04Speaker 10: Mystery Science Theater.
- 8:05Speaker 3: It was fun. okay. Wasn't that great?
- 8:08Speaker 2: They didn't talk as much in the early days. That
- 8:10Speaker 2: first season or two is pretty lackluster as things go.
- 8:14Speaker 3: The movie was pretty crappy. I remember that. Some of
- 8:16Speaker 3: the special effects were pretty bad.
- 8:17Speaker 5: Did they ever have really good movies on there? No.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Usually not.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Mitchell was awesome.
- 8:25Speaker 10: Izzy wanted to watch Werewolf again and I was like,
- 8:27Speaker 10: let's not watch the same movie.
- 8:28Speaker 2: The werewolves?
- 8:29Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, he's a wereworm.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Mitchell.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Which is what she does.
- 8:34Speaker 10: She watches the same one over and over and over
- 8:36Speaker 10: again until she memorizes the dialogue.
- 8:38Speaker 5: And then spouts it out at a very inappropriate time.
- 8:40Speaker 10: Usually at the dinner table with my parents.
- 8:44Speaker 3: She has no idea what's going on. Nobody else knows
- 8:47Speaker 3: what's going on.
- 8:48Speaker 11: So, yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 3: She's like that.
- 8:50Speaker 6: I think you're going to have to give an example
- 8:51Speaker 6: of this because.
- 8:53Speaker 10: Uh, we're just sitting at the dinner table and she
- 8:55Speaker 10: could be like, Maddox, extra large!
- 8:58Speaker 3: You know, and people are like, what?
- 9:01Speaker 5: What?
- 9:02Speaker 2: Does that mean you want extra mashed potatoes? Does she
- 9:04Speaker 2: have code that we don't understand?
- 9:06Speaker 10: Or we'll just be sitting there and she'll be like, uh, oh, geez, like,
- 9:11Speaker 10: like Ego is her favorite one.
- 9:12Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 9:14Speaker 3: She loves Ego, so she'll just be like.
- 9:16Speaker 4: How long have I been oily?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Yeah, stuff like that.
- 9:19Speaker 2: That's inappropriate. Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 5: Or she does the one, she's like, sex appeal, ding.
- 9:25Speaker 5: And I was like, you don't.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Need to be saying that, okay?
- 9:27Speaker 4: Quit saying that.
- 9:30Speaker 6: Wow.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Wacky fun.
- 9:31Speaker 3: We watched another movie.
- 9:32Speaker 5: Did we?
- 9:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 4: No, we didn't.
- 9:34Speaker 5: We didn't?
- 9:34Speaker 4: No.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Are you sure?
- 9:36Speaker 5: Yeah, we sent back JCVD without finishing watching it.
- 9:38Speaker 2: We didn't watch any other movies by ourselves?
- 9:40Speaker 5: I thought we did.
- 9:41Speaker 6: No.
- 9:41Speaker 11: No?
- 9:42Speaker 4: Okay, well.
- 9:42Speaker 3: The only other thing, yeah, like this one we did,
- 9:46Speaker 3: but I guess we didn't. The only other super.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I watched.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Whatchamacallit? Ungbok.
- 9:54Speaker 4: The second one?
- 9:56Speaker 3: No, the first one.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Have you never seen it?
- 9:58Speaker 3: No, I kind of stayed away.
- 10:00Speaker 10: From it good i mean well you know a lot
- 10:04Speaker 10: of my friends are.
- 10:05Speaker 12: Like oh time boxing you'll love this movie blah blah
- 10:08Speaker 12: it's all it's all sham yeah it's all it's all
- 10:12Speaker 12: uh act fighting and stuff like that so That's why
- 10:14Speaker 12: I'd stayed away from it for a long time.
- 10:16Speaker 3: But he does pretty good acrobatics and stuff.
- 10:17Speaker 4: But when he, like, jumps and, like, grabs his ankles
- 10:20Speaker 4: and pulls his legs behind him and, like, the double
- 10:22Speaker 4: knee torpedo onto the guy's chest through the— that was awesome.
- 10:26Speaker 3: There's a lot of acrobatics.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:28Speaker 10: So it's kind of funny. I do like that he
- 10:30Speaker 10: uses some of the old Thai weaponry.
- 10:32Speaker 3: And stuff like that. But, you know, as far as
- 10:34Speaker 3: real Thai boxing, it's.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Not real Thai boxing. don't listen to the people yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 5: I gave up i watched about five minutes of it in.
- 10:41Speaker 10: One yeah she quit her i am like other than
- 10:44Speaker 10: that what was your big geek purchase.
- 10:46Speaker 5: Of the week i did buy a star trek watch
- 10:49Speaker 5: with a little enterprise that goes around as the second
- 10:52Speaker 5: i forgot to wear it super geek wow i was
- 10:56Speaker 5: pretty upset that the sound button didn't work because it's
- 10:57Speaker 5: supposed to play i got it at the flea market
- 11:00Speaker 5: oh okay okay it's seven dollars This.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Is the same flea market you got my book at?
- 11:05Speaker 5: Yes.
- 11:06Speaker 2: She did bring me a divine book, by the way.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Written by his mother.
- 11:10Speaker 5: Not divine as in godly in any way.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I have one of those, too. Because I remember somebody
- 11:15Speaker 2: was let down when they saw the divine images and
- 11:17Speaker 2: it didn't have divine in it. It was actually about
- 11:19Speaker 2: films about Jesus. Now I can balance it out with
- 11:23Speaker 2: an actual book about divine.
- 11:25Speaker 5: Written by, allegedly, his mother?
- 11:29Speaker 6: Legend mother? You'd think she would know.
- 11:32Speaker 2: His legendary mother.
- 11:34Speaker 5: I just flipped through. I didn't actually read any of
- 11:36Speaker 5: the words.
- 11:36Speaker 12: Words.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I don't want to look at words.
- 11:38Speaker 5: The lady at the counter, she was confused.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 3: What is this? That's an ugly looking woman.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Holy shit.
- 11:45Speaker 5: She flipped through. She's like, well, it looks interesting.
- 11:49Speaker 2: That means we don't like your kind around here.
- 11:52Speaker 5: What are you buying weird books like this for at
- 11:54Speaker 5: our bookstore?
- 11:55Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 11:58Speaker 5: What about you, Marlena? Did you do anything geeky this week?
- 12:01Speaker 4: Lay it on us.
- 12:03Speaker 6: Sadly, I didn't really do much. I bought a movie
- 12:06Speaker 6: at A.J. Wright, which is kind of like an urban
- 12:08Speaker 6: Big Lots for people who don't have A.J. Wrights in
- 12:11Speaker 6: their area.
- 12:12Speaker 5: I bought me some DVDs at A.J.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Wright, too.
- 12:13Speaker 5: I bought some of the Hitcher on DVDs. I thought
- 12:16Speaker 5: about that when I did it.
- 12:17Speaker 6: But I bought this movie called The Off Season and
- 12:21Speaker 6: only watched half of it, but it seemed pretty good
- 12:23Speaker 6: it's like a serious B movie that I've never heard
- 12:25Speaker 6: of and never seen anyone.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Does it have anybody in it that you would know no.
- 12:29Speaker 6: I mean it's definitely a B movie but it's pretty
- 12:31Speaker 6: eerie from what I've seen I don't know how it
- 12:34Speaker 6: ends but what.
- 12:36Speaker 5: You've seen what would it how would you describe it as.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Well basically these people this couple moved to a vacation
- 12:43Speaker 6: town during the off season and they live in a
- 12:45Speaker 6: hotel and weird things start happening and uh the girl
- 12:49Speaker 6: her mother had died recently and uh Every time the
- 12:53Speaker 6: guy picks up the phone or something like that, it's
- 12:56Speaker 6: her mother calling.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Is it a recent movie?
- 13:00Speaker 6: Probably in the last few years.
- 13:01Speaker 5: It sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't actually picture it
- 13:04Speaker 5: in my head.
- 13:05Speaker 6: And the guy's acting is sometimes off, but the girl's
- 13:10Speaker 6: acting is like for a B-movie. I'm pretty impressed with
- 13:13Speaker 6: her acting so far, but I'm going to have to
- 13:15Speaker 6: finish it.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Sorry i don't know you still did something exceptionally geeky.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Yeah definitely i failed no.
- 13:24Speaker 2: You did you did an entirely different geeky thing you
- 13:27Speaker 2: did get inked i mean there's nothing geekier than having
- 13:30Speaker 2: something permanently put upon.
- 13:32Speaker 6: Yourself i think last week we were talking about boob
- 13:34Speaker 6: quake day yes we were monday was boob quake day.
- 13:37Speaker 5: And you celebrate it in what.
- 13:39Speaker 6: Way uh chess piece tattoo.
- 13:43Speaker 5: No, what you needed to do was get a tattoo
- 13:44Speaker 5: of a boob, of a boob, on your boob. That's
- 13:47Speaker 5: a great idea.
- 13:48Speaker 3: She's got a tattoo of Cameo.
- 13:51Speaker 5: Not a cod.
- 13:52Speaker 4: Not a cod.
- 13:54Speaker 3: The lead singer from Cameo.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Just big words that say Wordo.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:59Speaker 2: But no, it's not that Cameo at all.
- 14:01Speaker 5: And it's pretty fantastic, though.
- 14:04Speaker 2: It's a cameo sort of kind of old school style,
- 14:07Speaker 2: which actually is very fitting for you. Once you said it,
- 14:09Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I can see that.
- 14:11Speaker 6: Well, see, now I don't know if I can wear
- 14:13Speaker 6: all my necklaces and stuff. I keep wanting to buy
- 14:15Speaker 6: necklaces just because I'm a compulsive shopper, but I don't
- 14:19Speaker 6: know if they're going to clash or what.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Yeah, cameo necklaces.
- 14:23Speaker 6: I figure if it covers it exactly, it's fine.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Otherwise, it might hold it there with tape.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it will cancel itself out.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Any other acting?
- 14:37Speaker 6: I watched Nightmare on Elm Street, the first one with
- 14:39Speaker 6: you yesterday.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. We were catching up, trying to do research.
- 14:44Speaker 5: I didn't do no research. I'm one of them non-researchers.
- 14:47Speaker 6: You know, I was thinking about it as I watched it,
- 14:49Speaker 6: because I was thinking I hadn't seen it for a
- 14:51Speaker 6: really long time, but I remembered that I started watching
- 14:54Speaker 6: it a few months ago and fell asleep.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Don't fall asleep.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Don't you listen to the instructions in this movie?
- 15:01Speaker 6: I mean, the only time I have to really watch
- 15:03Speaker 6: movies is like right before bed and I fall asleep.
- 15:07Speaker 2: That's why I don't watch it the rest of the week.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I'm lucky to get one in because I just go
- 15:11Speaker 2: to sleep.
- 15:11Speaker 6: Yeah. But it just made me think about all the
- 15:15Speaker 6: other bad Freddy versions that I've watched. Most recently, Freddy vs.
- 15:20Speaker 4: Jason.
- 15:21Speaker 2: The last and worst example of such bad Freddies.
- 15:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Well, that's sort of rounding it out. I thought I
- 15:30Speaker 2: would just throw that out there. I saw this earlier today, actually,
- 15:33Speaker 2: and I thought I would let at least you, Roger, know,
- 15:35Speaker 2: but maybe all of us, because we all seem slightly
- 15:38Speaker 2: obsessed with teenage girls.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Miranda Cosgrove's new album dropped this week.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Hi, Curly.
- 15:44Speaker 5: How are you?
- 15:46Speaker 4: She has an album now?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah, she has an album now.
- 15:49Speaker 4: She's so cute.
- 15:50Speaker 2: It's out as of this week. She's crossing over into
- 15:52Speaker 2: rock star.
- 15:53Speaker 5: She's way cuter and way better.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Who's the chick that plays Sam on? I love Sam.
- 15:59Speaker 6: She's snarky.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I think she's a lot cooler than.
- 16:03Speaker 6: I really like Miranda Cosgrove's character on Drake and Josh
- 16:05Speaker 6: a lot better than I like.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Because she was evil.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Team Selena Gomez.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Now I don't know what y'all are talking about. That's
- 16:12Speaker 2: in its own little category. I just think it's funny
- 16:15Speaker 2: that they're all moving into that. Every one of them
- 16:18Speaker 2: on these shows has their own album at this point.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Jenny McCurdy.
- 16:21Speaker 5: That's Sam from my car.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Oh God, you're such a dork.
- 16:26Speaker 10: At this point, I'm out in the garage working on
- 16:28Speaker 10: the bike.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Yeah, really, doing man things.
- 16:32Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm going to go out in the garage.
- 16:34Speaker 3: She's like, I'm going to watch a lot of whatever
- 16:36Speaker 3: you're watching.
- 16:36Speaker 4: We should have done Waverly Place.
- 16:40Speaker 2: There's nothing manlier than looking at young girls.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yeah, although this is true.
- 16:44Speaker 2: All right, so on that note, we will round out
- 16:48Speaker 2: the Geek Week and take a break. At the speed
- 16:54Speaker 2: of light But the exit sign's always on my mind
- 16:57Speaker 2: Always in.
- 16:57Speaker 1: My sight I could say that I Really want to
- 17:02Speaker 1: stay But the devil inside always wins the fight Always.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Gets his way Jump out the window Gotta.
- 17:09Speaker 11: Get out on the highway.
- 17:11Speaker 1: When things are getting too attached I need an escape
- 17:16Speaker 1: I'm seeing stars And there is.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Nothing more that I hate Baby.
- 17:19Speaker 3: There's something that I hate.
- 17:23Speaker 5: And I gotta say, it's disgusting how I love you.
- 17:26Speaker 3: I can't take it.
- 17:27Speaker 5: I should hate you.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Cause you're messing up my name.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Gotta walk my talk, my fame.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But I just wanna touch your face.
- 17:37Speaker 6: It's disgusting.
- 17:39Speaker 2: It's disgusting. Golden, pure, creamery butter. Rich, flavorful, satisfying. That's
- 17:46Speaker 2: what it takes for the finest buttered popcorn, and that's
- 17:49Speaker 2: what we use. See for yourself why there's no showtime
- 17:52Speaker 2: treat to equal the crisp, delicious flavor of hot popcorn
- 17:55Speaker 2: that's bathed in real melted butter.
- 17:58Speaker 8: It's at the concession stand now.
- 18:00Speaker 7: Prepare to scream. The creeping, crawling flesh eaters cover the
- 18:04Speaker 7: body in the most vile experiment ever devised.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Flesh feast. Morbid horror in shock-throbbing color.
- 18:12Speaker 7: Plus, on the same program, a ghastly tale drenched in
- 18:17Speaker 7: clots of blood, a taste of blood, and teenage strangler.
- 18:23Speaker 7: A new bluebird preying on budding teenyboppers. Don't miss them.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Rated PG.
- 18:26Speaker 11: We are family.
- 18:26Speaker 3: We are the family.
- 18:27Speaker 6: Give everybody a sing.
- 18:28Speaker 10: Sing it to me, girls.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Hello.
- 18:38Speaker 9: Are you looking for reviews of the minute details of
- 18:42Speaker 9: fine cinema?
- 18:43Speaker 4: What does that mean, Daddy?
- 18:45Speaker 9: Are you looking for knowledgeable discussions of directorial decisions?
- 18:49Speaker 6: We don't do that.
- 18:50Speaker 9: Are you looking for profound and deeply insightful critique of
- 18:54Speaker 9: film as an art form?
- 18:55Speaker 6: Dad, I don't even know what you're talking about.
- 18:57Speaker 9: Then hello, everyone. I'm Dr. J, and this is my daughter.
- 19:00Speaker 7: KK!
- 19:01Speaker 9: And we're here to bring you Family Movie Night. No,
- 19:04Speaker 9: we don't offer you all that. But what we will
- 19:06Speaker 9: offer is movie reviews that will help you to make
- 19:09Speaker 9: viewing choices for what to watch with your children.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Nephews and nieces.
- 19:13Speaker 9: Or the kid down the street you have to babysit
- 19:16Speaker 9: for the weekend. Are you tired of endless reruns of
- 19:18Speaker 9: Hannah Montana?
- 19:19Speaker 2: Hey, I like Hannah Montana.
- 19:21Speaker 9: Then join us for Family Movie Night. You can find
- 19:23Speaker 9: us on iTunes or at our website.

- 19:41Speaker 2: I trust you've got credit cards to pay for all
- 19:44Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 19:46Speaker 4: Hi, this is Captain Mary Stewart, and you're listening to
- 19:49Speaker 4: Movie Meltdown. Get her, boys!
- 20:03Speaker 2: It's disgusting! All right, we're back with What's the Buzz? Groovy.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Tell me what's happening.
- 20:13Speaker 11: What's the buzz?
- 20:14Speaker 2: Tell me what's happening.
- 20:16Speaker 13: What's the buzz?
- 20:17Speaker 4: Tell me what's happening.
- 20:19Speaker 2: What's the buzz?
- 20:23Speaker 3: Tell me what's happening.
- 20:25Speaker 4: What's the buzz?
- 20:25Speaker 2: It was better that time you did the 2001, you know.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I think I just left that one in that week.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I was like, I was so amused by it. I
- 20:33Speaker 2: was like, what the hell is he doing?
- 20:34Speaker 4: Just, just, just. i'll bring it back at one point
- 20:38Speaker 4: keep everybody guessing yeah i'll surprise you sneak.
- 20:41Speaker 5: It in their own ninja leg yes.
- 20:43Speaker 2: All right well this wasn't even a totally a story
- 20:46Speaker 2: i actually meant to bring this up last week and
- 20:48Speaker 2: i forgot so i just wanted to see if you
- 20:49Speaker 2: guys knew it or cared but i do now i
- 20:52Speaker 2: actually knew uh about this and i don't think i
- 20:56Speaker 2: put it into context until about two weeks ago I
- 20:59Speaker 2: said a while back they were doing that Americanized remake
- 21:01Speaker 2: of Let the Right One In, which is a bad idea.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I've been sort of against that since the beginning just
- 21:06Speaker 2: because we're too lazy as a country to go see
- 21:10Speaker 2: another movie that might be different. We're involved for eating.
- 21:13Speaker 5: If it helps, I won't watch that one either.
- 21:14Speaker 2: No, but that's the thing. I didn't like that idea,
- 21:18Speaker 2: and now you might change your vote, because I think
- 21:19Speaker 2: I have now. Yeah, I think I remember hearing the
- 21:23Speaker 2: casting a couple months ago, but I didn't know who
- 21:26Speaker 2: it was. This week, I heard it again and went,
- 21:28Speaker 2: holy shit, Chloe Moretz.
- 21:30Speaker 5: She's the chick from Kick-Ass?
- 21:31Speaker 2: Yeah. She's going to be the main girl, like the
- 21:36Speaker 2: girl the whole movie centers around.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Sweet.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Okay, shit, now I'm going to have to go see
- 21:39Speaker 2: this thing because she's awesome.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Is she going to curse and say bad words? Probably.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Like a sailor.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 2: So, yeah, it's coming out this October. So now, damn it,
- 21:52Speaker 2: they've sort of swayed me on that one as much
- 21:54Speaker 2: as I didn't like them doing a remake. I will
- 21:56Speaker 2: go see Chloe because she's pretty fucking awesome.
- 21:58Speaker 6: I don't know. I loved the original.
- 22:00Speaker 5: The right one is.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Going to be really good. And I'm afraid they're going
- 22:03Speaker 2: to change the story. And I'm afraid they're going to
- 22:05Speaker 2: go more with the book. Because as much as people
- 22:07Speaker 2: are always like, oh, the book's better.
- 22:08Speaker 4: I love the book.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I've heard the story of the book and I don't
- 22:10Speaker 2: like the story in the book. It takes a weird
- 22:13Speaker 2: turn that I think would really kind of cheapen the story.
- 22:17Speaker 2: It makes it not really... There's something nice about the
- 22:20Speaker 2: story in that movie. And I think if they go
- 22:22Speaker 2: with the book, it sort of fucks up the niceness of...
- 22:24Speaker 2: that it sort of balances out the horror that's going
- 22:27Speaker 2: on in that story. And I'm afraid they're going to
- 22:28Speaker 2: fuck that up because we're Americanizing it and that's what
- 22:31Speaker 2: we do. I agree.
- 22:33Speaker 6: Really, I like the setting for the movie and the
- 22:37Speaker 6: way it was maybe set in the 70s, maybe. I
- 22:41Speaker 6: like the ambiguous timeline.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Which you can do that off in the middle of nowhere.
- 22:45Speaker 6: And I also like the boy who's so pale and so... Oscar.
- 22:50Speaker 5: Oscar.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Which I think they're changing their names. They have
- 22:54Speaker 2: to have Americanized names now. It's going to be like
- 22:56Speaker 2: Sally and Johnny.
- 22:57Speaker 5: We don't like the funny names.
- 23:00Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 23:01Speaker 2: We don't like you little foreign kids.
- 23:03Speaker 6: Where was that movie set? I can't remember. Was it Norway?
- 23:06Speaker 2: Was it Norway? I think it's Norway.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so.
- 23:09Speaker 2: Another one of those.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Somewhere like that.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Scandinavian horror movies.
- 23:13Speaker 6: It confuses me.
- 23:17Speaker 2: So, anyway, I was just, yeah, I heard that this
- 23:19Speaker 2: past week, and I was like, holy shit. Again, I
- 23:22Speaker 2: don't think I put it in context, because I hadn't
- 23:24Speaker 2: seen Kick-Ass, so.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Is there any other cast-y news on this one?
- 23:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it's the guy who's kind of her
- 23:31Speaker 2: caretaker is recognizable, but not really a big name. The boy,
- 23:34Speaker 2: I think, is kind of a new actor. So, I mean,
- 23:36Speaker 2: there's not really a whole lot of names otherwise, but,
- 23:38Speaker 2: I mean, for me, that one kind of won me over.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I was like, damn it. I hope they don't fuck
- 23:42Speaker 2: up the story, because now I'm going to have to
- 23:44Speaker 2: go see it.
- 23:45Speaker 6: But.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I don't know. We'll have to see what they do
- 23:47Speaker 2: with it. Okay, moving on to real stories. Do we
- 23:51Speaker 2: have real stories? Well, not really, but as much as
- 23:54Speaker 2: we ever do. Are we on MTV? Okay, so J.J.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Abrams is, of course, working on his next big post-loss project,
- 24:06Speaker 2: and for quite a while he was considering adapting Stephen
- 24:09Speaker 2: King's The Dark Tower series of seven novels. But obviously,
- 24:13Speaker 2: it became too complicated along the way because he eventually
- 24:16Speaker 2: gave up on the project. So now, this week, we
- 24:19Speaker 2: found out that Wade Wade for Ron Howard, who is
- 24:22Speaker 2: now in discussions with Universal Pictures to adapt King's big
- 24:25Speaker 2: fantasy opus of seven freaking books.
- 24:27Speaker 5: But why? Does anybody really care? Has anybody cared about
- 24:31Speaker 5: a Stephen King movie in how long?
- 24:33Speaker 2: They like to complain about them when they make really
- 24:36Speaker 2: bad ones.
- 24:37Speaker 5: When's the last really good Stephen King movie that came out,
- 24:40Speaker 5: other than The Mist?
- 24:41Speaker 2: The Mist was awesome.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Other than that, nobody cares about Stephen King stuff.
- 24:46Speaker 2: He's still a name, though.
- 24:47Speaker 4: I think they've just.
- 24:48Speaker 6: Run out of ideas. They've remade every classic horror movie
- 24:52Speaker 6: there is. They're just going to have to start making
- 24:54Speaker 6: Stephen King movies again. I guess.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Let's find one that has seven books in it.
- 25:00Speaker 2: That was a very... late 80s, early 90s thing. Like,
- 25:03Speaker 2: every two weeks a new Stephen King something would come out.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:07Speaker 5: And only a handful of them were watchable.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, the early ones. And it was the ones
- 25:11Speaker 2: when they had good directors. And you'd go back and look,
- 25:13Speaker 2: and they brought in real names on a lot of
- 25:15Speaker 2: these projects. And then you get to, like, the mid-90s,
- 25:18Speaker 2: and they start just doing crappy straight-to-DVD. Straight-to, yeah, TV stuff.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Sometimes they come back again and again and again.
- 25:25Speaker 5: The first one kicked ass.
- 25:26Speaker 4: The first one was okay, but.
- 25:28Speaker 6: I mean, if you think about it, some of... The
- 25:30Speaker 6: early Stephen King adaptations were some of the best horror
- 25:34Speaker 6: movies ever made. The Shining and Carrie.
- 25:37Speaker 3: The Shining was good. Carrie was good. Christine.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Stand By Me is still one of my favorites. It
- 25:42Speaker 5: stands out as not being... It doesn't seem like a
- 25:45Speaker 5: Stephen King. Aside from there being a dead body at
- 25:47Speaker 5: the end, it doesn't really come across as a Stephen King,
- 25:50Speaker 5: which is why it's one of my favorites.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Look at all those we mentioned. Kubrick, John Carpenter, Rob Reiner.
- 25:56Speaker 2: These were all directors at the top of their game
- 25:58Speaker 2: at that point.
- 25:59Speaker 1: So, I mean, that.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I think is the big difference is when they gave
- 26:01Speaker 2: it to people who were just there for a job,
- 26:04Speaker 2: they were just, you know, Hey, let's make a buck.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Stephen King's name will sell.
- 26:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 26:07Speaker 2: You get to the Langdell years.
- 26:08Speaker 3: You're fucked.
- 26:09Speaker 12: So go on now that had, what's his name?
- 26:12Speaker 4: No, no, no, no.
- 26:15Speaker 3: The other guy, uh, uh, God, I can't think of
- 26:18Speaker 3: his name. He was in Quantum Leap.
- 26:21Speaker 5: Scott Bakula?
- 26:21Speaker 2: Scott Bakula. No, not him.
- 26:25Speaker 4: He was also in.
- 26:27Speaker 5: Shit, what is it?
- 26:27Speaker 2: Dean Stockwell.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Dean Stockwell, yeah. He played the crazy guy.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Al says this movie's going to suck.
- 26:37Speaker 3: What the hell was that other movie he was in?
- 26:39Speaker 5: Was it Blue something another?
- 26:41Speaker 3: Sure.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Blue Velvet?
- 26:43Speaker 3: Blue Velvet, yeah.
- 26:44Speaker 2: He's phenomenal in Blue Velvet. He's fucked up in Blue Velvet.
- 26:47Speaker 2: He is awesome in Blue Velvet. Blue Velvet.
- 26:49Speaker 4: I don't even remember.
- 26:51Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 4: He's not Dean's dog. It's been a long time since
- 26:53Speaker 4: I've seen Blue Velvet. Oh, yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 2: We need to add that to the list.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Yeah, we do.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Really, does anybody care about Stephen King enough to... want
- 27:02Speaker 5: to see this much of a project involving him.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I think he's still got such name recognition. His books
- 27:10Speaker 2: still sell. He's still pretty popular in the author world.
- 27:15Speaker 2: It's just he kind of lost that edge that he
- 27:17Speaker 2: used to have on the transferring stuff over to film.
- 27:20Speaker 5: I'm still mad at him for that last movie I
- 27:21Speaker 5: watched of his, the one with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Fuck you, Stephen King, for that movie.
- 27:27Speaker 6: What was that?
- 27:28Speaker 5: I was mad.
- 27:28Speaker 2: 1408? Yeah, that was.
- 27:30Speaker 6: A terrible movie.
- 27:31Speaker 4: That was such a letdown.
- 27:33Speaker 6: I didn't realize it was Stephen King.
- 27:35Speaker 2: To me, it feels like it, because it starts off
- 27:38Speaker 2: with a good idea, and then it just all goes
- 27:39Speaker 2: to hell. So a lot of the Stephen King adaptions
- 27:43Speaker 2: end up doing that.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it was kind of a lame movie, wasn't it?
- 27:46Speaker 5: He's putting it mildly and nicely.
- 27:48Speaker 2: There's a lot more in that than I realize. Like,
- 27:51Speaker 2: if you go back, there's all kinds of weird stuff
- 27:53Speaker 2: sort of hidden in that, to me, I'm surprised. Like,
- 27:56Speaker 2: to watch it, you're just kind of like, eh, they
- 27:58Speaker 2: just kind of knocked this thing out in a weekend, but...
- 28:00Speaker 2: if you go back and like, there's all this weird
- 28:02Speaker 2: stuff that actually factors into the number 1408. Like it's
- 28:06Speaker 2: got that number worked in mathematically and they've got it on.
- 28:10Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. It's like they, but I'm like,
- 28:12Speaker 5: who put that much time into this movie?
- 28:13Speaker 2: Because it goes, there are 14 glasses.
- 28:17Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Whatever.
- 28:19Speaker 5: It's like all that kind of stuff. It's like, and
- 28:20Speaker 5: that's cool.
- 28:21Speaker 2: I like when they do that in movies, but why
- 28:23Speaker 2: do it in a movie that falls apart halfway through,
- 28:25Speaker 2: you know.
- 28:25Speaker 6: Didn't wasn't Stephen King responsible for secret window. I really
- 28:29Speaker 6: liked that one.
- 28:30Speaker 5: I think it was this.
- 28:31Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 28:33Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Something to do with it.
- 28:35Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure it could be.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Look it up.
- 28:36Speaker 5: The Johnny Depp movie, Secret Window?
- 28:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:39Speaker 3: I didn't like that movie either.
- 28:40Speaker 6: I liked that one a lot.
- 28:42Speaker 3: It even had Johnny Depp in it.
- 28:43Speaker 6: It was a psychological thriller. I'm sure.
- 28:45Speaker 3: But I already knew what was going on. So it sucked.
- 28:49Speaker 5: It wanted to be a Stephen King book.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it definitely seemed like it wanted to be.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Novel by Stephen King. Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Wow.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I liked that one. I really think, I mean...
- 29:00Speaker 6: People might not care, but if you... do you have
- 29:02Speaker 6: the right director and the right actors pulling it together?
- 29:05Speaker 6: I think it could be, I mean, fuck, what else.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Are we doing nowadays with horror movies? That's always the case.
- 29:11Speaker 2: But again, we're going back to at least who at
- 29:14Speaker 2: one time was a really good director, Ron Howard.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Granted, you look at some of his more recent stuff
- 29:18Speaker 2: and it makes me want to stab myself in the eye, Grinch. But, but,
- 29:24Speaker 2: I mean, at one time he was an awesome director. So,
- 29:26Speaker 2: I mean, he's, he's actually not even looking at it
- 29:28Speaker 2: to make a film. He's envisioned it as a trilogy. Oh, Which,
- 29:32Speaker 2: I mean, you know, they're running out of trilogies.
- 29:34Speaker 5: I'm not familiar enough with the story as it is,
- 29:36Speaker 5: so I don't know what it would consist of.
- 29:39Speaker 6: I tried to read the books when I was like
- 29:41Speaker 6: 12 or 13 and I just lost interest.
- 29:44Speaker 5: I mean, is there a basic premise for it or
- 29:46Speaker 5: is there a.
- 29:47Speaker 6: It has a lot to do with time travel and stuff,
- 29:49Speaker 6: doesn't it?
- 29:50Speaker 2: It's such a huge thing. I mean, it's... Let's see.
- 29:53Speaker 2: They're saying it follows the adventures of the last remaining
- 29:55Speaker 2: member of an order of gunslingers in an alternate reality
- 29:58Speaker 2: that combines magic and elements of the Old West. And
- 30:02Speaker 2: it is... I think, Roger, you mentioned this. It crosses
- 30:04Speaker 2: over into all these other ones. It, like, crosses into, like,
- 30:08Speaker 2: The Stand, Insomnia, Eyes of the Dragon. So, like, all
- 30:11Speaker 2: these other... sort of things are tied into the dark
- 30:14Speaker 2: tower somehow which.
- 30:16Speaker 4: Is cool i thought that was a cool that's a
- 30:17Speaker 4: cool idea.
- 30:18Speaker 6: You said the guy who did lost picked it up.
- 30:21Speaker 2: And jj abrams was for a long time supposedly working
- 30:25Speaker 2: on a version of it and has now just moved
- 30:27Speaker 2: on to other stuff.
- 30:28Speaker 6: Because he thought it was too confusing probably the guy
- 30:30Speaker 6: from lost what does that tell.
- 30:31Speaker 3: You Oh, Lord.
- 30:37Speaker 2: So, yeah, they're envisioning it as a film trilogy because,
- 30:41Speaker 2: you know, the Tolkien stuff ran out.
- 30:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 2: The Hobbit still weighs off, so they've got to find
- 30:45Speaker 2: new trilogies to do. And then later, a television series.
- 30:49Speaker 2: So there's obviously a lot of material to fight your
- 30:52Speaker 2: way through in this story.
- 30:53Speaker 5: What's a seven-book series?
- 30:55Speaker 2: Seriously.
- 30:57Speaker 5: I don't see that one going over well.
- 30:58Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Again, I liked some of the elements I knew of
- 31:02Speaker 2: that story, and then Ron Howard used to be a
- 31:04Speaker 2: good director, so if they can pull all that shit
- 31:06Speaker 2: together right, it could be kind of cool, but it's
- 31:09Speaker 2: also an uphill battle from what it sounds like.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Is he going to put his daughter in it? Because
- 31:13Speaker 5: then Roger might not want to.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Oh, that's true. We were complaining about Bryce earlier.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Bryce.
- 31:18Speaker 6: Bryce.
- 31:18Speaker 5: It's a dumb name.
- 31:21Speaker 6: I think it's a fine name for boys.
- 31:23Speaker 4: I wanted it for a girl, though. All right.
- 31:28Speaker 2: This week, director Ridley Scott did the press rounds in
- 31:31Speaker 2: advance of the May 12th release of Robin Hood. This
- 31:36Speaker 2: was the... Don't you want to see Gladiator in the woods?
- 31:41Speaker 5: Not in tights, not anymore.
- 31:43Speaker 2: You just don't like him because he got old and fat, too.
- 31:48Speaker 6: I just don't like Russell Crowe at all. He reminds
- 31:50Speaker 6: me of this crazy guy that walks up and down
- 31:52Speaker 6: the street by where I work, and he'll come in
- 31:54Speaker 6: and he'll corner me and be like, you know what, Marlena?
- 31:58Speaker 6: You know politicians? And he just has this weird joke
- 32:00Speaker 6: that's not a joke, it's just him rambling. in this
- 32:03Speaker 6: weird schizophrenic.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Mania creepy ass cloud.
- 32:10Speaker 6: I'm like good good one michael i love i loved
- 32:15Speaker 6: russell crowe when gladiator came out i don't do it
- 32:17Speaker 6: i ain't gonna lie.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I went to a big face i remember you were
- 32:20Speaker 2: out of control i was i.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Got a cd where he's rapping.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Oh i remember You, if I remember, special ordered the
- 32:28Speaker 2: shirt from his band from Australia.
- 32:31Speaker 5: Which I still have.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Which I would hope you still have, because that thing
- 32:33Speaker 2: cost a fortune.
- 32:34Speaker 4: I got it.
- 32:35Speaker 5: But yeah, I love me some Russell Crowe, but now
- 32:37Speaker 5: he just seems like such a douche.
- 32:39Speaker 4: And you just.
- 32:40Speaker 5: That thing on his head seems to have gotten bigger.
- 32:43Speaker 5: That weird spot, that weird lump.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Is he also turning into Alan Rickman?
- 32:49Speaker 1: No.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Because if so, we've already seen him in Robin Hood,
- 32:51Speaker 2: so maybe it's coming full circle.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I just got burned out. I still love Russell
- 32:55Speaker 5: Crowe in Gladiator.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Gladiator is a good movie.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Why does he need to do Robin Hood again?
- 33:01Speaker 5: Why does anybody need to do Robin Hood?
- 33:04Speaker 2: It's been 10 years. Every 10 years we have to
- 33:05Speaker 2: redo all these same movies.
- 33:07Speaker 10: Is that so kids will know who the hell Robin
- 33:09Speaker 10: Hood is because they're not smart enough to pick up
- 33:11Speaker 10: a book and read?
- 33:12Speaker 4: You gotta spoon feed it to them in a movie?
- 33:15Speaker 2: If it's the kids at this table.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Here's Robin Hood, little Johnny. Now watch it and learn.
- 33:20Speaker 2: That's how I learned everything.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Seriously?
- 33:25Speaker 2: So what's funny is this isn't even about Robin Hood.
- 33:28Speaker 2: So while they were talking about Robin Hood, they were
- 33:31Speaker 2: using that opportunity to grill Ridley Scott for his plans
- 33:34Speaker 2: on Alien.
- 33:35Speaker 11: Oh boy.
- 33:36Speaker 2: So the movie that launched his career, now he's gone
- 33:40Speaker 2: on to explain what he has in store for us
- 33:42Speaker 2: in the future. It's not just for a single Alien prequel,
- 33:46Speaker 2: but actually two prequels. Because, God forbid, you do one
- 33:50Speaker 2: movie anymore. You've got to make it a... I'm surprised
- 33:53Speaker 2: it's not a full trilogy.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Pre-prequel?
- 33:55Speaker 2: He's pre-prequeling. So, yeah, it would actually make the original
- 33:58Speaker 2: Alien the third movie in the original trilogy, I guess,
- 34:02Speaker 2: or whatever.
- 34:03Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 34:03Speaker 2: This is becoming confusing, too.
- 34:05Speaker 6: J.J.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Abrams is going to step in. So.
- 34:08Speaker 10: You've got Alien, and you've got Aliens.
- 34:11Speaker 2: How do you go before Alien?
- 34:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 2: It's just and then by the second one it's ow
- 34:18Speaker 2: they just focus on a guy named ow So the
- 34:24Speaker 2: first Alien prequel will, of course, be in 3D, which
- 34:27Speaker 2: that's a quote Ridley Scott said, of course it will
- 34:30Speaker 2: be in 3D.
- 34:31Speaker 5: Can it just be called Facehugger?
- 34:33Speaker 2: I would go see that.
- 34:34Speaker 4: That'd be great.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 34:36Speaker 10: It's a movie about a cuddly little facehugger.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Like the movie that we saw for Splice.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Yeah, Splice looks like a very Alien ripoff, and then
- 34:46Speaker 2: it becomes more of a species ripoff.
- 34:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 3: It does.
- 34:49Speaker 2: But I'm still on board because it's got, what's her face?
- 34:51Speaker 5: Sarah Pauly.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Sarah Pauly's fucking awesome.
- 34:53Speaker 6: And Adrian Brody.
- 34:54Speaker 5: And his nose.
- 34:55Speaker 2: See, I'll trade you. You can have Adrian Brody. I'll
- 34:56Speaker 2: take Sarah Pauly. We're all good.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Adrian Brody was in half the damn trailer.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Yeah, he was. He's a popular dude. Or he's just poor.
- 35:03Speaker 5: He's got Predators.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Predators was right before that.
- 35:07Speaker 4: I got there late.
- 35:09Speaker 5: I know, I heard you coming in. I was like, oh,
- 35:10Speaker 5: we're in this thing.
- 35:12Speaker 6: Did you hear my keys?
- 35:12Speaker 5: Yes.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Your dog tags. You're going to get shot because of
- 35:16Speaker 2: the dog tags.
- 35:18Speaker 5: You could never be a ninja.
- 35:21Speaker 4: That's true.
- 35:22Speaker 2: You were like 40 yards away. She was like, not
- 35:25Speaker 2: my answer.
- 35:27Speaker 6: Maybe Misty's the ninja.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Oh, Lord. So, aside from being in 3D, the first
- 35:36Speaker 2: prequel in this little run here will be set in
- 35:38Speaker 2: the year 2085, which is 30 years before the events
- 35:41Speaker 2: of Alien. The focus of the prequel may be, well,
- 35:45Speaker 2: to me it isn't a surprise, because this is the
- 35:47Speaker 2: only thing we've talked about since they started talking about this.
- 35:49Speaker 2: It's going to be about the space jockey.
- 35:51Speaker 11: Duh.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Well, you know, that's the only thing geeks have been
- 35:53Speaker 2: talking about since they brought up this idea that everybody's against,
- 35:56Speaker 2: but they're like, well, if you're going to do it,
- 35:58Speaker 2: You've got the setup. I mean, there's this huge thing
- 36:00Speaker 2: sitting there in the first movie, and they don't go
- 36:02Speaker 2: into it at all. So if you're going to do
- 36:05Speaker 2: some sort of backstory, so that is what it's supposed
- 36:07Speaker 2: to be about. We get this, you know, if you've
- 36:09Speaker 2: seen Alien, I'm sure everybody knows what the space jockey is.
- 36:12Speaker 2: But for the two people that don't, you get the ship,
- 36:14Speaker 2: and there's that giant skeleton, more or less, in the
- 36:18Speaker 2: pilot seat that brought the ship there and then unleashed
- 36:21Speaker 2: the aliens onto this planet. And we're assuming tried to
- 36:24Speaker 2: get them the hell away from wherever they were before this.
- 36:27Speaker 1: So.
- 36:28Speaker 2: There's obviously a big story there that was meant to
- 36:30Speaker 2: be there. Maybe it wasn't meant to be elaborated on
- 36:33Speaker 2: is what I'm wondering. I always liked that it was
- 36:35Speaker 2: kind of this cool thing and it was just there.
- 36:38Speaker 2: It was sort of a mysterious backstory. And once again,
- 36:41Speaker 2: like we like to do, we have to pin everything
- 36:43Speaker 2: down and elaborate so much on our villains, even if
- 36:46Speaker 2: it's a whole species of villains, that we kind of
- 36:49Speaker 2: take all the life out of it.
- 36:50Speaker 6: Yeah, I think Hollywood has just become obsessed with giving
- 36:55Speaker 6: a backstory to villains and making them plus I think
- 36:59Speaker 6: we already had this conversation but they can't just leave
- 37:01Speaker 6: it alone like there's wicked and then there's.
- 37:04Speaker 5: They have to have motivation why they are the way
- 37:07Speaker 5: they are why are they so evil because you can't
- 37:09Speaker 5: just be inherently bad you have to have somebody kicked
- 37:11Speaker 5: your puppy when you were a kid and not.
- 37:13Speaker 10: Be evil damn it and then you can have the
- 37:15Speaker 10: back story on the guy who kicked your.
- 37:17Speaker 5: Puppy and the back story of the puppy and the
- 37:20Speaker 5: dogs who had the puppy the whole line of breeders.
- 37:25Speaker 3: This is what it's going to be for more movies.
- 37:27Speaker 6: Yeah I really think it's just because I've run out
- 37:30Speaker 6: of ideas.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Well, we know that. But yeah, so Ridley is not
- 37:35Speaker 2: expecting Sigourney Weaver to be involved, which would be a
- 37:38Speaker 2: surprise because she's in every other damn one. Even when
- 37:40Speaker 2: they kill her off, she's still in them.
- 37:43Speaker 3: What about Winona Ryder? Will she be in it?
- 37:44Speaker 2: I hope so. She could be. She doesn't have to
- 37:47Speaker 2: worry about not being alive yet. Because that's what they're saying.
- 37:50Speaker 2: You know, Sigourney shouldn't be in this one because it's
- 37:52Speaker 2: set before her character is born. So it would be
- 37:55Speaker 2: kind of difficult. But they are saying the lead character
- 37:58Speaker 2: will be female. So can't argue with that. He does
- 38:01Speaker 2: put some kick-ass females in there.
- 38:03Speaker 5: Are there any more birds?
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yep. So as I was sort of bitching about earlier
- 38:10Speaker 2: about the English language remakes, we go through these little
- 38:13Speaker 2: waves of us not being able to handle watching a
- 38:16Speaker 2: foreign movie. So we have to remake them. And we
- 38:18Speaker 2: had the big run in the early part of this
- 38:20Speaker 2: past decade of the Asian horror remakes, starting with the
- 38:23Speaker 2: 2002 release of The Ring with Naomi Watts.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Which is still the best remake that I've seen so far.
- 38:29Speaker 2: It's actually good. I was surprised, even at the time,
- 38:32Speaker 2: how well they kind of put that together. But they
- 38:35Speaker 2: followed it up in 2005 with The Ring 2, and
- 38:37Speaker 2: the box office success was, eh, you know. It did okay.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Fans didn't really care. Critics really didn't like it. But
- 38:45Speaker 2: it's a sequel. What do you want?
- 38:46Speaker 9: So.
- 38:47Speaker 2: The Ring and Ring 2 were, you know, I guess
- 38:49Speaker 2: we all know about a spooky VHS tape. Which to me,
- 38:52Speaker 2: I'm like, what the hell's a VHS tape?
- 38:54Speaker 5: They have a spooky DVD in it.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Yeah, every kid in America just went, what is that
- 38:58Speaker 2: black box she's holding? And why is she shoving it
- 39:00Speaker 2: in that other black box? So, yeah, I guess, you know,
- 39:04Speaker 2: it's already going to confuse the kids if we try
- 39:05Speaker 2: to roll it out now. So now Paramount has the
- 39:08Speaker 2: rights to the property of the Ring 2. And I
- 39:13Speaker 2: guess they noticed that they hadn't made the third one
- 39:15Speaker 2: in the trilogy, because you've got to have a trilogy.
- 39:18Speaker 5: Are they going to do the original trilogy? Are they
- 39:20Speaker 5: going to do Ring O?
- 39:22Speaker 2: Well, no. It doesn't matter. All that involves story and plot.
- 39:26Speaker 2: They don't care about that. What they want is Ring 3D.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Oh.
- 39:30Speaker 3: No you knew it was.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Coming you knew it was coming yes.
- 39:36Speaker 2: And uh to well to go with sort of what
- 39:39Speaker 2: you were asking it probably won't be good because they're
- 39:41Speaker 2: saying they're thinking naomi watts probably won't be involved because
- 39:45Speaker 2: and this is what scares me the most out of
- 39:46Speaker 2: the whole little rundown here is they're fashioning the third
- 39:49Speaker 2: movie to be more teen-centric. That's frightening.
- 39:52Speaker 4: Is that like teen-tastic?
- 39:54Speaker 2: I guess.
- 39:55Speaker 6: When is California just going to fall into the ocean
- 39:58Speaker 6: so this will be over?
- 39:59Speaker 5: They find a new center to do it.
- 40:01Speaker 2: As soon as Lex nukes the... All you've.
- 40:04Speaker 5: Got to get a hold of is a couple of
- 40:05Speaker 5: nuclear warheads. Fire them off at California.
- 40:08Speaker 6: Needed to happen.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Nuclear, if you're doing this.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Nuclear.
- 40:13Speaker 5: See, I would have tolerated the next Ring movie if
- 40:15Speaker 5: they'd done the original and gone back and done the prequel.
- 40:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 5: Ring O was actually a really sad movie because it
- 40:21Speaker 5: went back to the little girl and her life before
- 40:23Speaker 5: she ended up in a well. Yeah, I wouldn't ruin
- 40:26Speaker 5: it for anybody out there.
- 40:27Speaker 2: That actually fits with what they usually do. It's weird.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I mean, that's what we were just saying. They've got
- 40:31Speaker 2: to go with the villain. They've got to do the backstories.
- 40:33Speaker 2: I mean, that might actually fit with how Hollywood operates.
- 40:36Speaker 2: So why they're not doing that.
- 40:38Speaker 5: Because it's 3D and you can't have Ringo in 3D.
- 40:41Speaker 3: You don't want depressing in 3D.
- 40:43Speaker 2: As good as... ring three ring.
- 40:47Speaker 5: 3d she can climb out of the tv as you
- 40:49Speaker 5: in 3d that would be really.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Creepy yeah the first time i saw that was fucking
- 40:54Speaker 2: frightening i didn't expect that.
- 40:57Speaker 5: I did not i saw the japanese version before i
- 40:59Speaker 5: remember doing the remake and i saw that and i
- 41:01Speaker 5: was like holy shit.
- 41:03Speaker 2: I watched that bootleg too i was like holy shit Oh,
- 41:07Speaker 2: that was frightening. That was scary to watch. And I'm
- 41:10Speaker 2: assuming this is going to be crap because, again, it's
- 41:12Speaker 2: catering to, and that's what they're doing. It's like that's
- 41:15Speaker 2: the reason they're not going to go with the villain
- 41:16Speaker 2: story is they're going the other way Hollywood goes with
- 41:18Speaker 2: horror movies is making it teens. It's got to be
- 41:21Speaker 2: around a group of teens, and it's got to be
- 41:23Speaker 2: crappy more than likely.
- 41:25Speaker 6: When is Hollywood going to pick up the Tomy movies?
- 41:27Speaker 6: That would be really weird.
- 41:29Speaker 3: The witch movies?
- 41:30Speaker 2: You saw that, didn't you, Roger?
- 41:31Speaker 11: What's up?
- 41:32Speaker 2: Didn't you see Tomy?
- 41:33Speaker 4: Yeah, it's awesome. Tomie is like, there's I think six
- 41:38Speaker 4: of them now. The one that I have is like
- 41:40Speaker 4: the first, the second, the third, and it's like a
- 41:43Speaker 4: made-for-TV where there are like three different short stories about
- 41:46Speaker 4: Tomie on it. And I'm in love with them. I like,
- 41:50Speaker 4: of course, the first one's the best. Second one's okay.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Third one, it just starts to get kind of cheesy.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:57Speaker 5: So why haven't they got around to that one yet?
- 41:58Speaker 5: They got around to everything else.
- 42:00Speaker 2: It's pretty twisted, though. I mean, there's so many of them.
- 42:03Speaker 2: I don't know. Americans are so straight-laced in the way
- 42:06Speaker 2: they look at their stuff. To me, what little I
- 42:08Speaker 2: know of, it sounds like a hard sell to... an
- 42:11Speaker 2: american guy sitting behind a desk.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Yeah well the thing that i really liked about it
- 42:15Speaker 4: is it's it's something you don't really think about initially
- 42:18Speaker 4: but you know this tomie creature whatever is basically reborn
- 42:24Speaker 4: uh from you know just a piece of itself whether
- 42:26Speaker 4: you kill it or chop it up or whatever and
- 42:29Speaker 4: but it's perpetually a 17 year old girl so the
- 42:33Speaker 4: problems inherent with that is She wants to be it
- 42:37Speaker 4: wants to be loved. It wants to, you know, and
- 42:39Speaker 4: it's jealous of the human race. But in that comes out,
- 42:42Speaker 4: you know, she hates the human race or whatnot, but
- 42:45Speaker 4: is always kind of still in a way like looking
- 42:47Speaker 4: for love. And I found myself kind of almost like
- 42:49Speaker 4: feeling bad for Tomie, you know, this creature or whatever
- 42:53Speaker 4: it towards the end, because I'm like, that would kind
- 42:55Speaker 4: of suck. not to be able to die and throughout
- 42:58Speaker 4: all of eternity never being able to have a friend.
- 43:02Speaker 2: This is why vampires are so emo yeah.
- 43:05Speaker 5: Yeah exactly fucking sparkly emo vampire.
- 43:08Speaker 4: That's probably like werewolf huh cause werewolf you know you
- 43:10Speaker 4: just you live hard you rock hard you stink you
- 43:13Speaker 4: smell you're hairy and you die Yes.
- 43:16Speaker 5: Not according to the werewolf movie I watched yesterday. According
- 43:19Speaker 5: to that, werewolves never age. Yeah, I didn't like that.
- 43:22Speaker 4: I was pissed.
- 43:23Speaker 5: Never cry, werewolf. Fucking get it right. Werewolves age. Fuckers.
- 43:28Speaker 4: Boo.
- 43:29Speaker 5: I was mad.
- 43:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 43:32Speaker 2: So, yeah, you might be right, Marlena, that they may
- 43:35Speaker 2: very well be out of ideas for movies because I
- 43:37Speaker 2: never thought they would come to the point where they
- 43:39Speaker 2: would need to do A Hatfields and McCoy movie.
- 43:43Speaker 6: Are you kidding me?
- 43:44Speaker 3: What?
- 43:45Speaker 4: Is it going to be starked?
- 43:47Speaker 2: They've got real names, too. Well, first of all, all
- 43:50Speaker 2: I remember about it is the old Warner Brothers cartoons
- 43:53Speaker 2: where all the guys with the long beards used to
- 43:54Speaker 2: just hit each other with shit. That, in my mind,
- 43:57Speaker 2: is all it'll ever be.
- 43:58Speaker 5: At least that's still a step above doing movies based
- 44:00Speaker 5: on board games.
- 44:01Speaker 2: That's true. Which, live in fear, there's more bad stuff coming.
- 44:05Speaker 2: Isn't he in everything?
- 44:06Speaker 3: Is there no Stratego?
- 44:08Speaker 5: Him and Jesse Edinburgh?
- 44:10Speaker 6: Eisenberg?
- 44:11Speaker 5: Whatever the hell.
- 44:12Speaker 6: His name is.
- 44:12Speaker 4: Don't wake Daddy.
- 44:13Speaker 6: I feel like the Jesse guy better. Yeah, he's more attractive,
- 44:16Speaker 6: but I mean, I kind of have deep love for
- 44:19Speaker 6: Michael Cera because of Arrested Development.
- 44:21Speaker 2: George Michael was cool, and since then he's gone kind
- 44:24Speaker 2: of downhill.
- 44:25Speaker 6: I really liked Youth and Revolt.
- 44:28Speaker 2: I never read.
- 44:29Speaker 6: The book, so I think that's why I was able
- 44:31Speaker 6: to like it.
- 44:33Speaker 5: I'm still mad at him for Superbad, but that's just me. Why?
- 44:35Speaker 4: Superbad was so funny. It was not.
- 44:37Speaker 6: I loved Superbad.
- 44:38Speaker 5: We had to turn it off after like ten minutes,
- 44:39Speaker 5: and I was worried I'd hit something. I thought it
- 44:41Speaker 5: was awesome.
- 44:42Speaker 3: I was thoroughly annoyed at it.
- 44:45Speaker 5: All right, back to the buzz.
- 44:47Speaker 2: It was, yeah, just the fact that they've gotten to
- 44:50Speaker 2: the point of Hatfields and McCoys. It's funny in and
- 44:52Speaker 2: of itself. But then Robert Duvall is going to be
- 44:55Speaker 2: in it. He was doing press for a new movie,
- 44:58Speaker 2: and he started talking about who they're trying to get
- 44:59Speaker 2: co-starring with him in the Hatfields and the McCoys.
- 45:02Speaker 5: Is he hard up for cash?
- 45:04Speaker 2: Isn't everybody these days?
- 45:05Speaker 7: Yeah, really.
- 45:06Speaker 5: Still.
- 45:07Speaker 2: So, the movie's director, Scott Cooper, who just did Crazy Heart,
- 45:11Speaker 2: once again, they're bringing in Oscar caliber names here, has
- 45:14Speaker 2: reportedly met with Brad Pitt about starring in the movie.
- 45:18Speaker 6: Yay, I love redneck Brad Pitt. He's my favorite.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Is he going to be like California Brad Pitt? Yeah,
- 45:23Speaker 2: California Brad Pitt. That's what I'm picturing, the big nappy
- 45:25Speaker 2: beard and the crazy hair.
- 45:26Speaker 4: He was awesome in California. He's got a chair.
- 45:32Speaker 2: He is awesome in that. So, yeah, T-Bone Burnett, who
- 45:36Speaker 2: is the composer of Crazy Heart, will also be composing
- 45:38Speaker 2: the score for the Hatfields and the McCoys. And, yeah,
- 45:42Speaker 2: the only reason I really wanted to talk about this
- 45:44Speaker 2: is I want to go and make a prediction.
- 45:45Speaker 4: Okay.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Because I want to know if they're going to change
- 45:49Speaker 2: it so that it fits this. Because it's really just
- 45:51Speaker 2: about this feud between two families. And about the only
- 45:53Speaker 2: thing they had to fight about is half of them
- 45:55Speaker 2: fought for the Union side, half of them fought for the,
- 45:58Speaker 2: you know, rebels. Whatever, that's half the country at that point.
- 46:01Speaker 2: No big deal.
- 46:01Speaker 3: I thought the whole argument.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Started over chickens.
- 46:06Speaker 3: Or cows.
- 46:07Speaker 4: See?
- 46:07Speaker 2: Once again, these are all ridiculous things that they probably
- 46:10Speaker 2: did start over. What I'm waiting for is, are they
- 46:13Speaker 2: going to make it Romeo and Juliet? Are they going
- 46:15Speaker 2: to go West Side Story?
- 46:16Speaker 5: You know they're going to.
- 46:17Speaker 2: They're going to have to do it. To me, it's
- 46:20Speaker 2: like if I were writing the script, shit, that's what
- 46:21Speaker 2: I would do. It adds a whole other level to
- 46:23Speaker 2: the whole drama of it.
- 46:24Speaker 6: Every movie pretty much has a romantic subplot.
- 46:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:27Speaker 4: Every movie.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Especially when you've got two sides that can't get along. Well,
- 46:31Speaker 2: let's take the youth of each and make them fall
- 46:33Speaker 2: in love. Yeah, so.
- 46:35Speaker 6: Curious as to how they're going to glamorize some, like,
- 46:39Speaker 6: backwoods hillbillies fighting over God knows what. I think that's
- 46:42Speaker 6: the point of they don't remember what they're fighting about.
- 46:45Speaker 6: That's why it's so funny.
- 46:47Speaker 2: It goes on for generations and nobody knows why.
- 46:49Speaker 10: Well, they quit fighting for a small period of time,
- 46:52Speaker 10: what I read, and then they just started up again.
- 46:55Speaker 6: Oh, they still exist?
- 46:57Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 46:57Speaker 3: That's still going on.
- 46:58Speaker 2: God help us.
- 47:00Speaker 4: But, I mean.
- 47:01Speaker 6: It seems like such a humorous situation. I'm kind of
- 47:04Speaker 6: curious as to what angle they're going to work with
- 47:06Speaker 6: this movie, I guess.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Is it going to be comedy?
- 47:08Speaker 6: Is it going to be serious?
- 47:09Speaker 2: No, I'm sure they'll go serious. I mean, they've got
- 47:11Speaker 2: Robert Duvall and Brad Pitt. I mean, they're probably going
- 47:14Speaker 2: serious and Oscar-style, but I mean... Again, I think that's
- 47:17Speaker 2: the only way they could get something out of it
- 47:19Speaker 2: to really make a real story. Because other than that,
- 47:21Speaker 2: they're just going to be a lot of fighting. But
- 47:23Speaker 2: the only thing that would give it some sort of
- 47:25Speaker 2: heart was if they have this little sappy romance in
- 47:27Speaker 2: the middle of it where they're torn by the two
- 47:29Speaker 2: families and they're on opposite sides and they're sneaking around. Yeah,
- 47:33Speaker 2: it's totally going to be a West Side Story thing.
- 47:35Speaker 2: That's my prediction.
- 47:36Speaker 4: I could be wrong.
- 47:37Speaker 5: Is it going to be singing a whole lot?
- 47:38Speaker 2: Let's hope so. That'd be pretty awesome. Brad Pitt knocking
- 47:41Speaker 2: it out.
- 47:42Speaker 11: No.
- 47:44Speaker 2: So, yeah, I don't know. That was half my reasoning.
- 47:47Speaker 2: And if they're not going to go that way, but
- 47:49Speaker 2: they're thinking about it, if, you know, producers are listening,
- 47:51Speaker 2: if you want me to work on a treatment of
- 47:52Speaker 2: the script, hey, send it over. I'll take the check.
- 47:55Speaker 2: I'm fine with that.
- 47:55Speaker 3: That won't happen. They'll steal your idea.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. That is how Hollywood operates. I think
- 48:01Speaker 2: they do just steal all the things we say. For
- 48:03Speaker 2: God's sakes, don't do that. That's what they do the
- 48:05Speaker 2: next week. There's a meeting the next Monday and that. Alright,
- 48:08Speaker 2: so this goes back to what you were just complaining
- 48:11Speaker 2: about a minute ago. And we get it so often,
- 48:14Speaker 2: I think I'm just going to have to go ahead
- 48:15Speaker 2: and name the segment or play the theme song.
- 48:18Speaker 5: Because every couple of weeks we have to talk.
- 48:21Speaker 2: About what board game they're doing or what toy they're
- 48:25Speaker 2: turning into a fucking movie. This week one-ups the love
- 48:29Speaker 2: that Hollywood seems to have with toy movies. Paramount and
- 48:33Speaker 2: Mattel are teaming up for the Magic 8-Ball movie.
- 48:36Speaker 6: What?
- 48:37Speaker 10: How the fuck do you have a movie about the
- 48:39Speaker 10: damn magic eight ball?
- 48:41Speaker 5: Ask again later.
- 48:42Speaker 3: What would that have?
- 48:43Speaker 2: I like that Roger just started hitting himself in the head.
- 48:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:48Speaker 2: That's what all of us are doing. Thank you. Are
- 48:50Speaker 2: they going to have a movie?
- 48:51Speaker 6: This is going to be interesting. I mean... Are they
- 48:53Speaker 6: going to have, like, the backstory of the Slinky?
- 48:56Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, the Rubik's Cube movie.
- 48:58Speaker 6: Are they going to, like, personify these things? Are they
- 49:00Speaker 6: going to personify the eight balls?
- 49:01Speaker 2: Is the eight ball going to talk? I hope so.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Maybe it'll be, like, a weird puppet.
- 49:04Speaker 3: It'll have Jim Carrey.
- 49:05Speaker 5: I don't want to say, like, eight things, though.
- 49:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 49:10Speaker 11: Oh, wow.
- 49:11Speaker 2: I don't know. I just thought that was taking it
- 49:13Speaker 2: to a whole new level.
- 49:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 49:14Speaker 4: That's dumb.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, there's no story on it. I can
- 49:20Speaker 2: tell you who's making it, but we're not going to
- 49:21Speaker 2: like them. It's people doing, like, Transformers and G.I.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Joe.
- 49:24Speaker 2: So, I mean, it's not like it's going to be good,
- 49:26Speaker 2: but what the hell are they thinking?
- 49:28Speaker 6: But, I mean, Transformers and G.I. Joe, those are, like.
- 49:31Speaker 3: They had cartoons.
- 49:32Speaker 6: They have cartoons. They have personalities.
- 49:34Speaker 3: They have stories.
- 49:36Speaker 6: A magic eight ball is a fucking magic eight ball.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 49:38Speaker 4: No matter what way you put it.
- 49:40Speaker 6: It's kind of longer than like 45 seconds and they're
- 49:43Speaker 6: just like, oh, it says eight things. Like you said,
- 49:45Speaker 6: what am I going to do with it?
- 49:46Speaker 5: And if you let it sit for too long, God
- 49:48Speaker 5: forbid the fucking goo inside dries out. And then you
- 49:51Speaker 5: got nothing.
- 49:51Speaker 6: I mean, maybe if it's like magic Jesus like I have,
- 49:54Speaker 6: you know, you could like.
- 49:55Speaker 5: That one is pretty fantastic.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Magic Jesus ball.
- 49:58Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 49:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:00Speaker 5: I can't think of anything possibly lamer unless they're doing
- 50:03Speaker 5: like a building blocks or like you said, a sling.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Yeah, connect for me.
- 50:06Speaker 4: Lincoln Logs, the movie.
- 50:08Speaker 6: Did you know Lincoln Logs were actually invented by Frank
- 50:10Speaker 6: Lloyd Wright's son?
- 50:12Speaker 10: Yeah, they were invented by frontiersmen that were out trying
- 50:16Speaker 10: to build houses.
- 50:17Speaker 5: I thought Abraham Lincoln made them.
- 50:18Speaker 2: There you go. Lincoln invented everything.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I wanted to call it Frank Lloyd Wright Logs.
- 50:23Speaker 2: That's probably why they're called Lincoln Logs because Illinois, Frank
- 50:29Speaker 2: Lloyd Wright.
- 50:30Speaker 4: from.
- 50:31Speaker 8: Illinois i don't i don't know i have no idea
- 50:35Speaker 8: you're gonna have to wikipedia that shit i love me
- 50:39Speaker 8: some wiki oh lord so yeah that was it we
- 50:42Speaker 8: we're going.
- 50:43Speaker 5: To wiki movie that's what i want i want a
- 50:44Speaker 5: movie it's gonna happen it will that's a facebook.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Movie yeah i mean we got the facebook movie i.
- 50:51Speaker 6: Mean there's a facebook movie oh yeah how is this
- 50:54Speaker 6: gonna go Jeez.
- 50:57Speaker 2: And it's Fincher. Fincher's directing it. David Fincher.
- 51:01Speaker 5: Yeah. He was asleep during that episode too?
- 51:03Speaker 2: I think so, because we have talked.
- 51:04Speaker 4: About that before.
- 51:05Speaker 6: I don't think I was here.
- 51:07Speaker 2: No, this was a while ago. But yeah, David Fincher
- 51:09Speaker 2: is directing the Facebook movie.
- 51:11Speaker 6: Is it going to be like... People playing Farmville.
- 51:15Speaker 5: The dramas of being unfriended.
- 51:16Speaker 6: Maybe they're going to make a Farmville movie next. That'd
- 51:19Speaker 6: be kind of funny.
- 51:19Speaker 2: They probably will. Don't invite it. Once again, the meeting
- 51:22Speaker 2: is next week.
- 51:23Speaker 6: Don't mention it.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Too late now. It's already gone.
- 51:26Speaker 6: There's probably going to be a... What's that game that
- 51:28Speaker 6: everybody plays? Mafia or whatever.
- 51:30Speaker 5: Or Vampire the Max Green.
- 51:32Speaker 6: Yep, there's going to be those movies.
- 51:33Speaker 2: I ignore all of those things.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Block all that shit.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Me too. It's a bunch of crap.
- 51:38Speaker 4: I play Zombie Farm.
- 51:39Speaker 3: It's like every time I block one, a new one
- 51:41Speaker 3: comes up.
- 51:42Speaker 5: I play Solitaire. What's next? It's going to be a
- 51:46Speaker 5: Solitaire movie.
- 51:47Speaker 4: Solitaire, the movie.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Snake, the movie.
- 51:50Speaker 5: Spider Solitaire.
- 51:51Speaker 6: Hey.
- 51:57Speaker 4: All right, any more?
- 51:58Speaker 2: No, we're going out on the Magic 8-Ball, so there
- 52:00Speaker 2: you go.
- 52:01Speaker 5: That's our big finale.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Yes, the Magic 8-Ball.
- 52:03Speaker 3: You guys are going to have to fill.
- 52:05Speaker 4: Me in later on that. We'll let down.
- 52:06Speaker 5: You'll be disappointed.
- 52:08Speaker 6: Probably.
- 52:09Speaker 4: Oh, Lord.
- 52:09Speaker 2: So, yeah, on the Magic 8-Ball, we'll go out and
- 52:12Speaker 2: invite you to come back and join us for our
- 52:14Speaker 2: Out of the Town feature this week, Nightmare on Elm Street.
- 52:17Speaker 2: We're back with the music.
- 52:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:22Speaker 5: She woke up long enough to do the music.
- 52:24Speaker 2: That's not even Freddie.
- 52:27Speaker 4: No, it's fine. I don't even.
- 52:28Speaker 6: Remember what the Nightmare Island Street music is.
- 52:31Speaker 5: I was going to do the other one, but I
- 52:33Speaker 5: figured out if I did the 13th.
- 52:35Speaker 10: Music, that would just be it.
- 52:36Speaker 1: That's wrong.
- 52:37Speaker 13: I've got a horseshoe hanging right.
- 52:41Speaker 5: Above my door.
- 52:43Speaker 13: I had a black cat, but she doesn't live here anymore.
- 52:47Speaker 11: I look through.
- 53:02Speaker 13: Time that you are fine. I put unwinding on you with.
- 53:08Speaker 1: My hypnotic guide. But you're oblivious. Don't take me serious.
- 53:15Speaker 1: So now there's one last thing that I can try.
- 53:20Speaker 1: My magic eight-ball tells me just what I should do.
- 53:27Speaker 13: I Will it tell me yes or no?
- 53:34Speaker 11: Will it tell me stop or go?
- 53:36Speaker 1: I close my eyes and hold my breath and it says, yeah,
- 53:41Speaker 1: decidedly so, decidedly so, decidedly so.
- 54:28Speaker 13: I was going right into the trash. My rabbits put
- 54:34Speaker 13: my food on a follow pass. I'll step on every crack.
- 54:39Speaker 11: You know I.
- 54:39Speaker 13: Won't look back. Cause now my lucky streak is gonna last.
- 54:50Speaker 3: My magic game.
- 54:51Speaker 13: Ball tells me just.
- 54:52Speaker 11: What I should do I always ask it whether I
- 54:57Speaker 11: should be in love with you Will it tell me
- 55:01Speaker 11: yes or no?
- 55:02Speaker 13: Will it tell.
- 55:05Speaker 11: Me stop or go?
- 55:05Speaker 1: I close my eyes, I hold my breath and it's
- 55:08Speaker 1: saying Beside of me so Beside of me so Beside
- 55:14Speaker 1: of me so Beside of me so Side of the soul,
- 55:18Speaker 1: side of the.
- 55:19Speaker 11: Soul Side of the soul, side of the soul Side
- 55:24Speaker 11: of the soul, side.
- 55:27Speaker 5: Of the soul Side of the soul.
- 55:29Speaker 11: Side of the soul.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Who is this mysterious wizard? What new villainy.
- 55:41Speaker 5: Are his men up to?
- 55:42Speaker 2: Don't miss Tunnel of Terror, the second exciting chapter of
