- 1:02Speaker 1: It's the greatest thing since an early morning walk on
- 1:06Speaker 1: a beach. I had the opportunity to go on my
- 1:09Speaker 1: favorite type of morning walk on Sunday before the game.
- 1:13Speaker 1: On a beach, coffee cup in hand, where the tide
- 1:17Speaker 1: rolls up against the sand. The sand is wet and firm,
- 1:21Speaker 1: so it's easy to walk because your feet don't sink
- 1:24Speaker 1: too far in. The tide cascades up over your ankles,
- 1:28Speaker 1: at times up to the knees. and feels great, but
- 1:31Speaker 1: you don't get soaking wet. And the sound of the
- 1:34Speaker 1: ocean completely relaxes you and puts you in a great
- 1:38Speaker 1: frame of mind to start the day. My favorite version
- 1:42Speaker 1: of that walk is in Maine, when it's a little chilly,
- 1:45Speaker 1: you're wearing a hoodie and shorts, and that morning cup
- 1:48Speaker 1: of coffee hits just right. But the Fort Lauderdale beach
- 1:52Speaker 1: walk before heading to Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday was
- 1:56Speaker 1: absolutely glorious. Now, Time for radio replays from Sunday's seven-point
- 2:02Speaker 1: win in Miami. The Cincinnati Bengals started the season 2-0
- 2:07Speaker 1: and could easily be 4-0. A fumble with 44 seconds
- 2:11Speaker 1: left ended their bid for a game-winning drive in Pittsburgh.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And they got stopped a half yard short of a
- 2:17Speaker 1: first down at the 11-yard line with 50 seconds to
- 2:20Speaker 1: go last week versus Cincinnati. Jacksonville. Today they look to
- 2:23Speaker 1: get back on track as they face the winless Dolphins
- 2:27Speaker 1: here in Miami and it is time for the pigskin
- 2:30Speaker 1: to fly at Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins won the
- 2:34Speaker 1: toss and elected to defer. A decision they might have regretted.
- 2:38Speaker 1: when they kicked off to Dante Myers. This kick headed
- 2:41Speaker 1: toward the pylon to our right. It'll be caught near
- 2:44Speaker 1: the 10 by Dante Myers. Sprints toward the middle of
- 2:47Speaker 1: the field. Breaks past the pack. He's off to the races.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Myers at the 30, the 20, the 10, and he
- 2:54Speaker 1: gets tackled around the 10-yard line. Dante Myers brought down
- 3:00Speaker 1: by Jalen Simpson, who at least temporarily saves the touchdown
- 3:05Speaker 1: for Miami. It was an 81-yard run back by number 81,
- 3:10Speaker 1: and it helped the Bengals take the lead less than
- 3:12Speaker 1: a minute into the game. Burrow looking left, scans the field, throws.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Back of the end zone and caught by Mike Gesicki. Touchdown, Bengals,
- 3:22Speaker 1: as Gesicki goes into the gritty with his fourth touchdown
- 3:26Speaker 1: catch in the first five weeks. The Dolphins answered with
- 3:30Speaker 1: a drive that consisted of nine runs and two incomplete passes.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It looked like it would only result in a field
- 3:36Speaker 1: goal but Dexter Lawrence got called for roughing the snapper.
- 3:40Speaker 1: That extended the drive, and Ollie Gordon scored on a
- 3:43Speaker 1: one-yard run to tie the game. The Bengals pulled back
- 3:47Speaker 1: in front early in the second quarter on third and
- 3:50Speaker 1: goal from the six. Samadjay Pirine in the backfield. Shotgun
- 3:54Speaker 1: snap to Burrow. Joe throws. Samadjay Pirine juggled it, caught it. Touchdown, Bengals!
- 4:04Speaker 1: On the Dolphins' next possession, Jordan Battle intercepted a tipped
- 4:07Speaker 1: pass to give Cincinnati the ball at the 50. Unfortunately,
- 4:12Speaker 1: Chase Brown fumbled inside the 10, and Miami recovered. But
- 4:17Speaker 1: three plays later, it was deja vu. Catches the shotgun snap, looking,
- 4:22Speaker 1: scrambling right, being chased, throws, intercepted! Jordan Battle with his
- 4:26Speaker 1: second of the day, and he'll be tackled at the
- 4:29Speaker 1: 37 of Miami.
- 4:33Speaker 2: How about that?
- 4:34Speaker 1: This is interesting. Jordan Battle got in a little bit
- 4:37Speaker 1: of hot water with some fans this week when he
- 4:39Speaker 1: said Malik Willis has a tell. He pats the ball
- 4:42Speaker 1: before he throws. Jordan Battle has two interceptions.
- 4:46Speaker 2: In the half.
- 4:47Speaker 1: And INT number two led to touchdown pass number three.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Three receivers out to the left, one out to the right.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Burrow drops back to throw, looking right, throws right. A
- 4:56Speaker 1: diving attempt near the pylon. And a touchdown for Tanner Hudson.
- 5:02Speaker 1: He went airborne, came away with a football, and came
- 5:06Speaker 1: down in the end zone near the forward pylon. That
- 5:09Speaker 1: gave the Bengals a 21-7 lead at the half. In
- 5:12Speaker 1: the third quarter, it looked like the Dolphins would cut
- 5:15Speaker 1: it to seven. on first and goal at the one.
- 5:18Speaker 1: But Demetrius Knight tackled Ollie Gordon for a two-yard loss
- 5:21Speaker 1: on a run, and Knight's tag team partner, Barrett Carter,
- 5:25Speaker 1: came through next. Willis rolls right, looking to throw, being chased,
- 5:29Speaker 1: pump fakes. Now he gets grabbed and sacked at the
- 5:33Speaker 1: 11-yard line by Barrett Carter. Barrett Carter was like his shadow,
- 5:40Speaker 1: me and my shadow. It forced the Dolphins to settle
- 5:43Speaker 1: for a field goal that made it 21-10. Last year
- 5:46Speaker 1: in Miami, Joe Burrow threw four touchdown passes with no
- 5:50Speaker 1: interceptions in a Cincinnati win. He did it again this
- 5:54Speaker 1: year on second and seven in Dolphins territory. Myers goes
- 5:59Speaker 1: in motion from right to left. Burrow fakes to Pirine,
- 6:02Speaker 1: steps up in the pocket, flings it deep downfield for Chase.
- 6:06Speaker 1: He goes airborne.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Near the goal line and comes down with a one-handed,
- 6:11Speaker 3: right-handed touchdown catch. Jamar Chase with an incredible grab for
- 6:17Speaker 3: a Bengals touchdown.
- 6:20Speaker 1: After suffering a concussion last week, Jamar finished with six
- 6:23Speaker 1: catches for 77 yards, including eight. that remarkable 45-yard score.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Tee Higgins, dealing with groin and neck pain, added two
- 6:33Speaker 1: catches for 22 yards. It was 28-10 going to the
- 6:37Speaker 1: fourth quarter. A 39-yard run by Miami quarterback Malik Willis
- 6:42Speaker 1: on third and 13 was the key play on a
- 6:45Speaker 1: Miami touchdown drive, and a two-point conversion made it 28-18
- 6:50Speaker 1: with seven minutes to go. Just before the two-minute warning,
- 6:54Speaker 1: the Bengals called on Money Mac, for a little breathing room.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Trying to make it a 13-point lead with 2.13 to go.
- 7:00Speaker 1: The snap is perfect. The kick is up, and it
- 7:03Speaker 1: is good. And with that kick, Money Mac takes over
- 7:08Speaker 1: as the Bengals' all-time leader in consecutive field goals, tries
- 7:12Speaker 1: without a miss, 22 in a row. Going back to
- 7:16Speaker 1: November of last year, he has passed Shane Graham on
- 7:20Speaker 1: the Bengals' all-time list. and he's given Cincinnati a 31-18
- 7:25Speaker 1: lead with 2.09 to go. The Dolphins scored a touchdown
- 7:28Speaker 1: on a one-yard sneak by Willis with 45 seconds to
- 7:31Speaker 1: go to make it a seven-point game. But Miami's subsequent
- 7:36Speaker 1: onside kick went out of bounds without being touched, allowing
- 7:40Speaker 1: the Bengals to run out the clock. They're lined up
- 7:43Speaker 1: in the victory formation. Burrow puts his knee on the ground,
- 7:46Speaker 1: and that is the final snap of the game. On
- 7:51Speaker 1: a sweltering day here in Miami, it wasn't a no-sweat
- 7:54Speaker 1: day for the Cincinnati Bengals, but the end result is
- 7:57Speaker 1: a win. They will beat the Dolphins by the final
- 7:59Speaker 1: score of 31-24. The Bengals are 3-2 for the first
- 8:05Speaker 1: time since going to the Super Bowl in 2021. Now,
- 8:09Speaker 1: time for my one-on-one conversation with Zach Taylor. Zach, you
- 8:13Speaker 1: get to the bye. 3-2. It wasn't easy. It rarely is.
- 8:17Speaker 1: What's your bottom line thought on today's win?
- 8:19Speaker 4: Bottom line, happy to get a win. You've got to
- 8:22Speaker 4: fight and claw for everything you get in this league.
- 8:25Speaker 4: They all count the same. And so happy our guys
- 8:27Speaker 4: found a way to get a win in a hot
- 8:30Speaker 4: environment down here versus a team that's fighting like crazy.
- 8:33Speaker 4: But there's a lot of things that we need to
- 8:34Speaker 4: clean up. I think the spy comes at the right time.
- 8:36Speaker 4: The players understand that and accept that. And so we've
- 8:38Speaker 4: got two weeks to get some stuff cleaned up before
- 8:40Speaker 4: we go to division.
- 8:41Speaker 1: You got something out of your running game today, particularly
- 8:43Speaker 1: some IJP, Ryan. How critical was that to get something
- 8:47Speaker 1: done in that area? It was good.
- 8:49Speaker 4: It made them come downhill a little bit more. They
- 8:50Speaker 4: play a little softer, so then it opens up a
- 8:53Speaker 4: shot for Jamar where you get a big play like that.
- 8:55Speaker 4: So it all ties together, and so when you're running
- 8:57Speaker 4: the ball well, it does open up some of those
- 8:58Speaker 4: big play opportunities in the play-action game.
- 9:01Speaker 1: I can't say it's the best catch Jamar's ever had,
- 9:03Speaker 1: maybe not even this year, but to go up in
- 9:05Speaker 1: traffic and come down with the ball pinned against his bicep,
- 9:08Speaker 1: special stuff yet again. Yeah, he's unbelievable.
- 9:10Speaker 4: You just stop being so amazed, but it's hard too
- 9:14Speaker 4: because each one is seemingly more amazing than the previous one,
- 9:17Speaker 4: but for him to be contested like that, come down
- 9:18Speaker 4: with the ball, again, he's a big.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Playmaker for us.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Jordan battled this week, said something about the quarterback that
- 9:26Speaker 1: you would prefer he didn't say, giving away maybe a
- 9:28Speaker 1: little bit of a coaching point, but when you do
- 9:30Speaker 1: that and you can back it up by coming away
- 9:32Speaker 1: with two picks and That makes everything a little bit better.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I honestly hadn't thought about that until you just said it.
- 9:37Speaker 4: So good for him for coming up with the ball.
- 9:39Speaker 4: You know, as defensive backs, they're known to drop some
- 9:42Speaker 4: just in general, all defensive backs. So when they throw
- 9:45Speaker 4: a take, catch them. And Jordan did a great job
- 9:46Speaker 4: coming down with both those and gave us great field
- 9:49Speaker 4: position and great opportunities to go turn the game.
- 9:51Speaker 1: How big was the 81-yard kick returned by Dante Myers
- 9:53Speaker 1: to begin the day? Set the tone.
- 9:55Speaker 4: You know, you're coming to the locker room hot. You're
- 9:58Speaker 4: hoping the guys come out there and respond the right
- 10:00Speaker 4: way to the heat. And so for him to set
- 10:02Speaker 4: us up like that and then the offense to punch
- 10:04Speaker 4: it in is a great start for our team.
- 10:07Speaker 1: It was 90 degrees today. That's the hottest kickoff temperature
- 10:10Speaker 1: ever in an October game here in Miami. How rough
- 10:13Speaker 1: was it out there for the guys today? It wore
- 10:15Speaker 1: me out.
- 10:15Speaker 4: And so I can't imagine running around there. But they
- 10:18Speaker 4: handled it the right way. It's a good thing we
- 10:20Speaker 4: got the bye. Guys are going to be able to
- 10:21Speaker 4: get healthy. Guys are going to be able to get
- 10:22Speaker 4: their legs back and then come back for a big
- 10:25Speaker 4: Division I next week.
- 10:26Speaker 1: You mentioned clean some things up during the bye week.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Anything in particular, penalties or anything that really stands out?
- 10:32Speaker 4: There are some decisions, you know, just overall. When you
- 10:34Speaker 4: get two personal fouls, when you catch a kickoff on
- 10:38Speaker 4: the four-yard line, you give them four points on a
- 10:40Speaker 4: field goal, turn it into a touchdown.
- 10:43Speaker 5: They know that.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Like our guys, they're not. But when you do it
- 10:47Speaker 4: all the time with a bunch of different guys– it's
- 10:50Speaker 4: something we have to address and make sure these guys understand,
- 10:53Speaker 4: you know, it kept them in the game. We had
- 10:54Speaker 4: a chance to break that thing open early and kind
- 10:56Speaker 4: of shot ourselves a foot in a couple of ways.
- 10:58Speaker 1: What did it mean that Jamar and T played today?
- 11:00Speaker 4: It's not surprising to me because that's just how they're
- 11:04Speaker 4: built to help this team win by any means necessary,
- 11:07Speaker 4: whether they're a hundred percent or not. But it's, it does,
- 11:11Speaker 4: it is appreciated like for them to come out there,
- 11:13Speaker 4: they change the game for you. They, They concern the defense, obviously.
- 11:16Speaker 4: They're big lifts for us, and so very thankful that
- 11:19Speaker 4: those guys came out there and made some plays for
- 11:20Speaker 4: us today.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Congrats on the win. Yep, thank you. A week after
- 11:24Speaker 1: throwing 54 passes, Joe Burrow only threw 32 times in Miami,
- 11:29Speaker 1: and the Bengals ran it 31 times for 117 yards.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Samadjay Pirine was their most effective runner as he battering
- 11:38Speaker 1: rammed his way to 68 yards on 14 carries. an
- 11:43Speaker 1: average of 4.9 per attempt. He talked to Tony Pike
- 11:47Speaker 1: after the game.
- 11:49Speaker 6: Samaj, on a hot day like today, as a running
- 11:52Speaker 6: back position, how gratifying does it become as that physical
- 11:55Speaker 6: runner to start to wear down a defense as you go?
- 11:58Speaker 1: It was great, you know.
- 11:59Speaker 5: The guys up front took the challenge that the coaches
- 12:04Speaker 5: gave them personal, and we came out and had an
- 12:06Speaker 5: effective run day. So it was a good day on
- 12:08Speaker 5: the ground.
- 12:09Speaker 6: Talk me through the touchdown catch. You know Jamar is
- 12:11Speaker 6: going to attend the safety out wide, so you've got
- 12:14Speaker 6: to beat a linebacker. What goes through your mind pre-snap
- 12:17Speaker 6: when you know the ball could be coming to you?
- 12:20Speaker 5: I just do what the quarterback told me. The quarterback
- 12:22Speaker 5: told me to run something, I ran it, and touchdown.
- 12:25Speaker 1: As simple as that.
- 12:27Speaker 6: How important does balance become in the National Football League?
- 12:30Speaker 6: Every week is not going to be perfectly balanced, but
- 12:32Speaker 6: when you have the opportunity to play complimentary football with
- 12:35Speaker 6: the running pass, how much does that help in offensive rhythms?
- 12:38Speaker 5: Oh, it helps tremendously. It slows down the game. It
- 12:42Speaker 5: becomes less predictable. And I feel like overall, obviously there's
- 12:47Speaker 5: stuff that we can fix and clean up. But overall,
- 12:51Speaker 5: I feel like we had a decent day.
- 12:54Speaker 6: On the offensive side of the ball, when you turn
- 12:56Speaker 6: a ball over or something happens momentum-wise and you see
- 12:58Speaker 6: the defense go out and get the ball back like
- 13:00Speaker 6: they did today, forcing multiple turnovers, talk about the complementary
- 13:04Speaker 6: style that this other side of the ball gives you.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it was great.
- 13:07Speaker 5: It was a great feeling. That wasn't up to our standard,
- 13:11Speaker 5: turning the ball over. But when you have a defense
- 13:13Speaker 5: that you can rely on and that you know will
- 13:16Speaker 5: go back out and get the ball back for you,
- 13:19Speaker 5: it gives you a certain peace of mind that no
- 13:22Speaker 5: matter the situation, we're going to get the ball back
- 13:24Speaker 5: because our defense is going to step up.
- 13:26Speaker 6: You mentioned a decent day on the offensive side of
- 13:28Speaker 6: the ball. Is it a little gratifying to know that
- 13:30Speaker 6: you're not playing the A game offensively and you're still
- 13:33Speaker 6: getting wins with so much room to grow?
- 13:36Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, I guess. But, you know, the way
- 13:40Speaker 5: we want to operate, we don't ever want to leave
- 13:43Speaker 5: anything out there. But, yeah, like you said, it's still
- 13:46Speaker 5: gratifying to get some wins when we know we have
- 13:48Speaker 5: an opportunity to grow. But, you know, we have to
- 13:51Speaker 5: get on the gas because two weeks we have a
- 13:53Speaker 5: big game against a rivalry and another great team. So
- 13:56Speaker 5: we have to come out with all cylinders fine.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Wrap up with that.
- 13:59Speaker 6: You know Baltimore's on the other side of the bye,
- 14:01Speaker 6: but just talk now mindset three and two. going into
- 14:04Speaker 6: a bye what's the biggest goal in the national football
- 14:06Speaker 6: league of going into a bye and then coming out
- 14:09Speaker 6: knowing you got to be ready.
- 14:09Speaker 5: To go uh just getting everyone healthy you know we
- 14:12Speaker 5: have people banged up um it's an early bye but
- 14:15Speaker 5: it came at a at a at a pretty good
- 14:17Speaker 5: time uh right now with uh with some people banged
- 14:20Speaker 5: up we get people healthy and um you know we
- 14:22Speaker 5: know what's on the other side of it so we
- 14:25Speaker 5: just have to come out all seven years firing.
- 14:26Speaker 6: Congrats on the win we appreciate your time thank.
- 14:28Speaker 1: You absolutely The Bengals' defense held Miami to 137 passing yards,
- 14:34Speaker 1: but gave up six runs of 15 or more that
- 14:38Speaker 1: helped the Dolphins stay in the game. But after getting
- 14:41Speaker 1: no takeaways last week, the Bengals got three on Sunday,
- 14:44Speaker 1: including a pair of INTs by Jordan Battle. How do
- 14:50Speaker 1: you sum up this win? It wasn't easy, but you
- 14:52Speaker 1: guys came down here and got the job done.
- 14:54Speaker 7: Yeah, we put in the work through the week.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Trust it.
- 14:57Speaker 7: The plan going into the game, and, you know, you've
- 14:59Speaker 7: seen it out there. You know, guys, you know, flying around,
- 15:01Speaker 7: getting to the ball, swarming. And I'm just happy we
- 15:04Speaker 7: came out with the win. You know, it's hard to
- 15:05Speaker 7: win in this league.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Let's talk about interception number one. Jonathan Allen gets a piece,
- 15:09Speaker 1: and you're ready to grab the ricochet.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 7: Tips and over throws, got to get those, man. You know,
- 15:14Speaker 7: it's a different break when you see the ball in
- 15:15Speaker 7: the air tipped up. You know, it's a little different version.
- 15:18Speaker 7: You know, when you get it, you know, you got
- 15:19Speaker 7: to secure just for the team. You know, we always
- 15:21Speaker 7: want to get the.
- 15:21Speaker 6: Ball to Joe.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Second one, you looked like a wide receiver. You jumped it.
- 15:25Speaker 1: You got your hands out there, made the catch. It
- 15:27Speaker 1: was pretty.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 15:28Speaker 7: I mean, next step, just try to get in that
- 15:30Speaker 7: end zone. That's the next step.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I've got to ask you, did you see him at
- 15:35Speaker 1: the ball? You talked about that before the game. Was
- 15:38Speaker 1: it a factor?
- 15:40Speaker 7: Nah, man, I just trusted the plan going in, man.
- 15:42Speaker 7: You know, just practice. Practice makes perfect. You know, you're
- 15:45Speaker 7: going to make plays and practice, and then you'll have
- 15:47Speaker 7: chances in the game.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Fort Lauderdale is home. You picked one off here last year.
- 15:51Speaker 1: You picked off two today. Who is here to see it?
- 15:55Speaker 2: Uh, a lot of people.
- 15:55Speaker 7: I know, uh, the first one I gave to my mom,
- 15:58Speaker 7: second one I gave to my dad, you know, they
- 16:00Speaker 7: were up in the stands over there in like section one,
- 16:01Speaker 7: 20 something. But, uh, yeah, it's just, just cool to,
- 16:04Speaker 7: you know, come back home. You know, when you step
- 16:06Speaker 7: foot out here, you know, it's a different, different air
- 16:07Speaker 7: you breathe. And, uh, it's, it's just fun to get
- 16:09Speaker 7: out here and play.
- 16:10Speaker 1: So you went over there after the interceptions and handed
- 16:12Speaker 1: the ball into the stands? Of course. Of course.
- 16:14Speaker 7: You know, I got to always think back to who
- 16:16Speaker 7: got me here. You know, uh, great support cast. You know,
- 16:18Speaker 7: they come to almost every game. So, you know, uh,
- 16:21Speaker 7: I just thank him for that, and I'm blessed.
- 16:22Speaker 1: It was 90 degrees at kickoff. That's a record for
- 16:24Speaker 1: an October game here in Miami. How tough was it
- 16:27Speaker 1: out there?
- 16:28Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, it felt like it. Like Coach said, that's crazy.
- 16:31Speaker 7: He said, you feel tired, you were tired. You feel hot,
- 16:34Speaker 7: you was hot. It felt hot out there. It was
- 16:37Speaker 7: very hot. Obviously, planning is much different than just sitting
- 16:41Speaker 7: in it, but it's bad either way.
- 16:44Speaker 1: How critical was it to get to 3-2 going into
- 16:46Speaker 1: the bye?
- 16:47Speaker 2: Real critical.
- 16:47Speaker 7: Obviously, you've got an AFC North opponent next after the bye.
- 16:52Speaker 7: So going three and two, it's perfect. It's where we
- 16:56Speaker 7: need to be. It's where we needed to be going
- 16:57Speaker 7: into this game.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Three interceptions in five weeks. Not bad.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Not bad at all.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Congrats on the win.
- 17:02Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 17:03Speaker 1: One quick correction. On battle's first INT, the pass was
- 17:07Speaker 1: tipped by Boye Mafe, not Jonathan Allen. In the AFC North,
- 17:12Speaker 1: Pittsburgh beat Indianapolis to improve to 3-2. The Browns lost
- 17:17Speaker 1: to the New York Jets to fall to 3-2. And
- 17:20Speaker 1: the Ravens moved into sole possession of first place in
- 17:23Speaker 1: the division at 4-1 with a 30-23 overtime win in
- 17:28Speaker 1: Atlanta on Sunday night. The Bengals head to Baltimore after
- 17:31Speaker 1: the bye, and the Ravens don't have a bye. They'll
- 17:35Speaker 1: be on the road at Cleveland. Now, time for postgame
- 17:39Speaker 1: analysis with Tony Pike. Tony, we are standing just outside
- 17:44Speaker 1: the Bengals' locker room after a seven-point win here in Miami.
- 17:47Speaker 1: The overwhelming vibe that I got was, that was sloppy,
- 17:52Speaker 1: but a win is a win. Let's clean things up
- 17:55Speaker 1: during the bye and see what we can get done
- 17:56Speaker 1: after it.
- 17:57Speaker 6: As Lap said in the fourth quarter, there's still a
- 17:59Speaker 6: little meat on the bone. You feel like that, but
- 18:02Speaker 6: the consensus in this locker room, you're grateful because winning
- 18:05Speaker 6: in the NFL is hard to do, and you see
- 18:07Speaker 6: that every week. You know, ask the Dallas Cowboys who
- 18:10Speaker 6: lost to the Bucs on Thursday night football. It just happens.
- 18:13Speaker 6: So you can't just show up in the NFL and
- 18:15Speaker 6: expect a result. You've got to make enough plays. They
- 18:18Speaker 6: did that. But I think there's twofold here. One, the
- 18:20Speaker 6: understanding of you've not yet reached the ceiling. There's a
- 18:24Speaker 6: lot of room to go. And I think Baltimore being
- 18:26Speaker 6: on the other side of the bye has an opportunity
- 18:28Speaker 6: to reset the focus and understand how much needs to
- 18:32Speaker 6: get done between now and two weeks from now when
- 18:34Speaker 6: you're in Baltimore.
- 18:35Speaker 1: You talked to Samadjay Pirine after the game. He was
- 18:38Speaker 1: a big part of an improved running game today. I wonder,
- 18:42Speaker 1: with the Bengals' offensive line, if making it more of
- 18:45Speaker 1: an even split with Samadjay might be the best thing
- 18:48Speaker 1: to do going forward.
- 18:50Speaker 6: At least for now, because it still feels like they're
- 18:52Speaker 6: trying to find their footing. But at the same time,
- 18:56Speaker 6: Samadjay Pirine doesn't want to make every play into an
- 18:59Speaker 6: 80-yard touchdown run. There was a prime example of that
- 19:03Speaker 6: early in the game. He got a swing pass out
- 19:05Speaker 6: to the right And there's like a split second where
- 19:07Speaker 6: you think he's going to try to outrun someone to
- 19:08Speaker 6: the sideline. And then he turns it up and he
- 19:10Speaker 6: runs a defender over. Defender actually had to leave the
- 19:12Speaker 6: game on that play. He's just a bruiser. And he
- 19:16Speaker 6: runs a physical style. And I think that plays into
- 19:19Speaker 6: this offensive line.
- 19:20Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 19:20Speaker 6: Because more so than anything, there's only so many different
- 19:23Speaker 6: schemes you can run. It's a mentality and a physicality
- 19:26Speaker 6: on the offensive line. And I feel like he, just
- 19:29Speaker 6: in his style of running, gives you that. You still
- 19:32Speaker 6: want to feature Chase Brown because he's that big of
- 19:34Speaker 6: a talent. But I like the 50-50 split right now
- 19:38Speaker 6: because of the physical nature that Piran gives you.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Jamar Chase came out of concussion protocol to haul in
- 19:43Speaker 1: a 45-yard touchdown pass, essentially with his bicep. Tee Higgins
- 19:48Speaker 1: had a few big catches today. You could tell Zach
- 19:50Speaker 1: Taylor was appreciative that those guys really wanted to be
- 19:54Speaker 1: out there when the Bengals needed to get a W.
- 19:56Speaker 6: I think it says a lot about the makeup of
- 19:59Speaker 6: the team. Because you're playing in Miami, you've got to
- 20:01Speaker 6: buy on the other side. You could think to yourself, okay,
- 20:03Speaker 6: let's squeak by this and then go. They made Jamar
- 20:06Speaker 6: a feature. Ten targets today. He had the unbelievable catch.
- 20:10Speaker 6: It feels like we've seen multiple catches this year that
- 20:14Speaker 6: you feel like you're only going to see once a year.
- 20:16Speaker 6: The Jamar catch against the Texans, the Tee Higgins catch
- 20:19Speaker 6: from his backside against the Steelers, and now this from
- 20:22Speaker 6: Jamar again.
- 20:23Speaker 1: They're just so dynamic. Tee didn't have the.
- 20:26Speaker 6: Huge statistical day, but I like that Joe gave him
- 20:28Speaker 6: a shot early on in a one-on-one. They'll start to
- 20:31Speaker 6: hit those more, but you have to keep a defense honest.
- 20:34Speaker 6: Defenses are still putting two high safeties back, but to
- 20:36Speaker 6: see the impact... and the willingness of those guys to
- 20:39Speaker 6: want to be out here and understand how important it
- 20:41Speaker 6: was to get win number three going into the bye.
- 20:44Speaker 1: You made a great point late in the broadcast that
- 20:46Speaker 1: it feels right now like the Bengals are playing offenses
- 20:49Speaker 1: made up 10 players because whoever DJ Turner is covering,
- 20:54Speaker 1: they're not even thinking about trying to throw him the ball.
- 20:57Speaker 6: Yeah, if you look at the stat sheet, all you
- 20:59Speaker 6: see from DJ Turner today is one pass defended. And
- 21:02Speaker 6: if you ask DJ Turner, it should have been an interception.
- 21:05Speaker 6: He's going to want that one back. But you almost
- 21:09Speaker 6: ignore the fact of how good he is because you
- 21:11Speaker 6: don't call his name a ton because he's not making
- 21:13Speaker 6: tackles because no one's throwing at him. He completely erases
- 21:17Speaker 6: whoever he's going against right now, and that's such a
- 21:19Speaker 6: luxury for a defensive coordinator to know if you're Al
- 21:22Speaker 6: Golden going in to say, okay, I know where zero
- 21:24Speaker 6: is going to be, and I know that I don't
- 21:26Speaker 6: have to worry about that. I don't have to send
- 21:28Speaker 6: safety help over the top. I can focus on the
- 21:30Speaker 6: other ten in play, and when you take out the quarterback,
- 21:33Speaker 6: it just evens up your numbers game so much. You're
- 21:35Speaker 6: playing ten on nine. almost now because you take DJ
- 21:38Speaker 6: Turner and whoever he's guarding out of the equation.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Interesting day for Jordan Battle after maybe saying a little
- 21:44Speaker 1: bit more than he was supposed to in the days
- 21:46Speaker 1: leading up to the game. He comes away with his
- 21:48Speaker 1: first career game with two interceptions. He's up to three
- 21:51Speaker 1: now in five weeks. Obviously his game has not been perfect,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but at least he is getting takeaways.
- 21:57Speaker 6: I also thought he came up and filled at the
- 21:59Speaker 6: line of scrimmage a couple times today. You saw him
- 22:01Speaker 6: and Brian Cook actively from the safety position playing aggressively.
- 22:05Speaker 6: The first, I think, great play by Boyd Moffitt to
- 22:07Speaker 6: get a hand on the ball. He's right place, right time.
- 22:10Speaker 6: The second interception, I legitimately think there was part of
- 22:14Speaker 6: Malik Willis patting the ball as he was on the
- 22:15Speaker 6: run that allowed Jordan Battle that split-second opportunity to cut
- 22:19Speaker 6: in front and intercept the pass. It's crazy to think
- 22:22Speaker 6: about because he just talked about it, but he actually
- 22:25Speaker 6: put it into context today on the field. I also
- 22:27Speaker 6: think that his uptick in play today correlates with the
- 22:32Speaker 6: guy being back next to him, Brian Cook. Not a
- 22:35Speaker 6: huge stat day for Brian Cook, but I think just
- 22:37Speaker 6: him being there helps Jordan battle so much.
- 22:41Speaker 1: There are things to work on during the bye. What's
- 22:43Speaker 1: at the top of the list? Consistency.
- 22:45Speaker 6: They're making too many plays that are shooting themselves in
- 22:49Speaker 6: the foot on the offensive side of the ball. The
- 22:50Speaker 6: fumble in the red zone. Offensive efficiency. I know Joe
- 22:53Speaker 6: Burrow's completing a high percent of his passes. It just
- 22:56Speaker 6: feels like there's more there for the taking. They spread
- 22:58Speaker 6: the ball out better today, but I think the uptick
- 23:00Speaker 6: in the running game will help that. Defensively, They play
- 23:04Speaker 6: so well in spurts, and then there's that time where
- 23:07Speaker 6: they give up a long run to the quarterback or
- 23:10Speaker 6: they switch up and they're a little bit more passive
- 23:13Speaker 6: on the defensive side. I just think a complete game
- 23:16Speaker 6: is what we're still looking for for this team. But
- 23:19Speaker 6: talking to B.J. Hill after the game, this is really
- 23:21Speaker 6: the first chance we've gotten to see the defense as
- 23:24Speaker 6: close to a hole since the season started. He hasn't
- 23:27Speaker 6: been in there. Brian Cook missed some time. As these
- 23:30Speaker 6: guys all get back together and start playing next to
- 23:32Speaker 6: each other, The depth starts to showcase a little bit.
- 23:35Speaker 6: You flex your muscles on the back end. You're going
- 23:37Speaker 6: to have to get it all together because you know
- 23:39Speaker 6: the test coming out in the AFC North, what that's
- 23:41Speaker 6: going to be. But I thought a good step forward,
- 23:43Speaker 6: but a lot of teaching Tate going into a bye.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I feel like the Dolphins are going to get their
- 23:48Speaker 1: first win as soon as Malik Willis says, you know what,
- 23:50Speaker 1: I'm not going to slide. I'm going to try to
- 23:52Speaker 1: run as far as the defense will allow me to
- 23:55Speaker 1: run because he's capable of it. And there were a
- 23:57Speaker 1: couple of instances today where he slid really early. There
- 24:01Speaker 1: was one long run where it felt like If he
- 24:03Speaker 1: just keeps running down the middle of the field, he
- 24:05Speaker 1: might take it to the house. That's one of his
- 24:07Speaker 1: biggest strengths, and it feels like he's not using it
- 24:10Speaker 1: to its full extent.
- 24:11Speaker 6: He's a great athlete, but you don't get that. That
- 24:15Speaker 6: correlates to his game. Until the fourth quarter, where you
- 24:18Speaker 6: saw him make a play with his legs, then he
- 24:20Speaker 6: got out of the pocket to extend to make a
- 24:22Speaker 6: throw for the touchdown late in the game. If Miami
- 24:25Speaker 6: is going to win it all, it's going to be
- 24:27Speaker 6: on Malik Willis to make plays with his legs and
- 24:30Speaker 6: become more of a run-pass option when he gets out
- 24:33Speaker 6: of the pocket. Too many times that it felt like
- 24:35Speaker 6: there was a little lane, but he was hesitant. If
- 24:37Speaker 6: you hesitate in the NFL, you're not going to have
- 24:39Speaker 6: prolonged success. That's a team that is full of young
- 24:42Speaker 6: talent that is currently in a complete rebuild, but there's
- 24:46Speaker 6: enough young talent that if Malik Willis ups his game,
- 24:49Speaker 6: those others around him are going to start believing. They
- 24:51Speaker 6: have the pieces on defense. Offense has a little bit
- 24:54Speaker 6: of a ways to go, but it starts with the quarterback.
- 24:56Speaker 1: This game is not going to be placed in a
- 24:58Speaker 1: time capsule. It wasn't beautiful, but as we said going
- 25:01Speaker 1: into it, one point blowout is fine. They won by seven.
- 25:05Speaker 1: They got what they came here to get.
- 25:06Speaker 6: You and I talked having dinner last night that it's
- 25:09Speaker 6: one of those games that it doesn't matter how you
- 25:12Speaker 6: do it. You just have to have it because now
- 25:14Speaker 6: the discourse going into this bye week is how can
- 25:17Speaker 6: they get better? What do they need to improve upon
- 25:20Speaker 6: in the Baltimore Ravens instead of a lot of other
- 25:23Speaker 6: conversation if you go into the bye at two and three.
- 25:25Speaker 6: So it didn't matter how it happened today to see
- 25:28Speaker 6: the W, to snap the two-game losing streak, and now
- 25:31Speaker 6: get the confidence going forward. I think it's a blessing
- 25:35Speaker 6: at times on the football side of it when you
- 25:38Speaker 6: win without playing near your best. I think that just
- 25:40Speaker 6: gives you a little bit of a mental clarity and
- 25:43Speaker 6: understanding that, all right, we did this today, but, man,
- 25:45Speaker 6: we can be so much better. And I think on offense, defense,
- 25:48Speaker 6: and special teams today, you have that. and now you
- 25:51Speaker 6: get to build on that. It's a coach's dream. Okay,
- 25:54Speaker 6: we've got to win, but look at all these things,
- 25:56Speaker 6: because now you have the attention fully. If going out
- 25:58Speaker 6: of the bye and going to Baltimore didn't get it enough,
- 26:00Speaker 6: you're going to have their attention when you watch this
- 26:02Speaker 6: film and see all the stuff you've still got to correct.
- 26:05Speaker 1: So, it's off to Baltimore a week from Sunday at
- 26:08Speaker 1: 1 o'clock. Yes, 1 o'clock. Remarkably, it's the first time
- 26:14Speaker 1: in five years that the Bengals don't have to play
- 26:17Speaker 1: a primetime road game in Baltimore. The Bengals Booth Podcast
- 26:22Speaker 1: is brought to you by Paycor, proud to be the Bengals'
- 26:25Speaker 1: official HR software provider. By AltaFiber, future-proof fiber internet designed
- 26:31Speaker 1: to elevate your home, business, and community to a new level.
- 26:34Speaker 1: And by Kettering Health, the best care for the best fans.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Kettering Health is the official healthcare provider.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Of the Bengals.
- 26:42Speaker 1: When the Bengals signed Jonathan Allen to a two-year contract
- 26:45Speaker 1: in the offseason, a few people suggested that there wasn't
- 26:49Speaker 1: much left in the tank at age 31. Well, Jonathan
- 26:53Speaker 1: Allen got his third sack on Sunday to tie Dexter
- 26:56Speaker 1: Lawrence and Boye Mafe for the team lead. He added
- 26:59Speaker 1: a forced fumble, which he recovered, and deflected a pass.
- 27:04Speaker 1: In this week's fun facts segment, we meet the person
- 27:08Speaker 1: under the pads. Time for some fun facts with two-time
- 27:12Speaker 1: pro bowler and 10-year NFL vet Jonathan Allen, your hometown
- 27:17Speaker 1: is listed as Ashland, Virginia, which is in between Richmond
- 27:20Speaker 1: and Washington, D.C. But for those who don't know, you
- 27:24Speaker 1: spent significant amounts of time in Cincinnati growing up. Explain why.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Yeah, no, my whole family's from Cincinnati. My dad went
- 27:33Speaker 2: to Mount Healthy. So growing up every summer from probably
- 27:36Speaker 2: like third grade to high school, I would come up
- 27:39Speaker 2: and spend a lot of time in Cincinnati. I'm going
- 27:41Speaker 2: to Kings Island. I'm enjoying the local restaurant, Schlossky's. Gold
- 27:45Speaker 2: Star Skyline, so pretty familiar with the area.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Who's still here?
- 27:49Speaker 2: Oh, wow, who's still here? My uncle, my aunt, my
- 27:52Speaker 2: other aunt, my other aunt. I'd probably say about 10
- 27:55Speaker 2: to 15 aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
- 27:59Speaker 1: When somebody asks your dad, where are you from, does
- 28:02Speaker 1: he say Cincinnati?
- 28:04Speaker 2: They ask where he's from, he says Cincinnati. But where
- 28:06Speaker 2: I'm from, I say Virginia just because I was in
- 28:08Speaker 2: Virginia from third grade to high school. So that's the
- 28:10Speaker 2: majority of my life.
- 28:12Speaker 1: So your parents split up when you were very young.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Your dad was stationed overseas in the Army, and for
- 28:18Speaker 1: a while you and your brother were in the foster
- 28:21Speaker 1: care system. How traumatic was that?
- 28:26Speaker 2: Traumatic is probably not how I would describe it, maybe
- 28:29Speaker 2: more so for my older brother. Since I always had him,
- 28:32Speaker 2: he was seven years older than me, I was never
- 28:34Speaker 2: suffering as bad as people might think. Just because, I mean,
- 28:38Speaker 2: I pretty much had my parental figure, my rock, and
- 28:41Speaker 2: my brother.
- 28:43Speaker 1: When your dad returned home to the U.S., he fought
- 28:46Speaker 1: to make sure he got custody. How difficult was that fight?
- 28:50Speaker 2: Again, I was really young when a lot of this
- 28:52Speaker 2: stuff happened. So for me, my perspective of it probably
- 28:55Speaker 2: isn't even close to what it was really like. But
- 28:58Speaker 2: for my dad, I can only imagine how hard it
- 28:59Speaker 2: was for him.
- 29:00Speaker 1: In your bio, your father's job was listed as nuclear
- 29:04Speaker 1: biological chemical warfare specialist, which obviously sounds very serious. Is
- 29:11Speaker 1: he a no-nonsense person?
- 29:13Speaker 2: Yes and no. Now that he's older, he's a lot
- 29:15Speaker 2: more laid back and relaxed and easygoing. But growing up, yeah,
- 29:19Speaker 2: he didn't play at all.
- 29:21Speaker 1: How did that impact you?
- 29:23Speaker 2: I think it's important, especially for boys, to have that figure.
- 29:28Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I think sometimes you've got
- 29:30Speaker 2: to smack a boy upside his head and get him
- 29:32Speaker 2: back on track. The world's not easy on undisciplined and
- 29:37Speaker 2: weak men. So I thank him every day for all
- 29:39Speaker 2: the discipline. and humbleness that he installed in me and
- 29:42Speaker 2: made me who I am today.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Based on all I've read, he really pushed you to
- 29:46Speaker 1: be great. Not good, great.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's funny. When people realize what it
- 29:52Speaker 2: takes to be great, most people don't want it. So
- 29:56Speaker 2: growing up, he was definitely the crazy parent. People didn't
- 29:58Speaker 2: understand why he made me do the things that he
- 30:00Speaker 2: made me do, why he pushed me so hard. But
- 30:03Speaker 2: if you want to be successful in anything you do,
- 30:05Speaker 2: you're going to have to do a lot of things
- 30:07Speaker 2: that most people wouldn't even dream of doing.
- 30:09Speaker 1: Will you be that way as a dad?
- 30:11Speaker 2: Yes. Now, whatever my kids want to play, they can
- 30:15Speaker 2: play whatever, they can do whatever. But whatever we do
- 30:17Speaker 2: decide to play or do or participate in, we're going
- 30:19Speaker 2: to go full go in it.
- 30:21Speaker 1: We're visiting with Jonathan Allen. Let's move to your football career.
- 30:24Speaker 1: You had a tremendous high school football career, first team
- 30:27Speaker 1: parade All-American. Was the recruiting process nuts?
- 30:32Speaker 2: Yes and no. I kind of shut it down early.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Once I started getting some of the bigger schools and
- 30:37Speaker 2: once I finally decided I was going to go to Alabama,
- 30:39Speaker 2: I think it was the middle of my junior year,
- 30:41Speaker 2: I was like, I just don't want to deal with
- 30:42Speaker 2: it anymore. It was just too much. So for me,
- 30:45Speaker 2: I kind of shut it down a little bit earlier.
- 30:46Speaker 2: But yeah, it gets pretty crazy.
- 30:49Speaker 1: You had a great career at Alabama. You played on
- 30:51Speaker 1: a national championship team your junior year, the fifth of
- 30:54Speaker 1: seven national championships for Nick Saban. Explain to us how
- 30:59Speaker 1: that's possible. How can one man win seven national championships?
- 31:04Speaker 2: When you look at Coach Saban, if you were blessed
- 31:06Speaker 2: enough to spend time with him, the level of obsession
- 31:10Speaker 2: with the process that he had was almost like you
- 31:14Speaker 2: had to have a couple of screws loose to be that, like,
- 31:17Speaker 2: particular and, like, Just no nonsense. And that's why he's special.
- 31:22Speaker 2: And I truly believe that most people who do incredible things,
- 31:25Speaker 2: they're a little messed up in the head, but in
- 31:27Speaker 2: a good way. It's one of those things where if
- 31:30Speaker 2: you saw how hard he worked, you wouldn't be surprised
- 31:33Speaker 2: he's as successful as he is.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Following your great four-year career at Alabama, you were the
- 31:39Speaker 1: 17th overall pick in the NFL draft by essentially your
- 31:42Speaker 1: hometown team, Washington. Describe your draft experience.
- 31:46Speaker 2: It was fun. It was fun not knowing where you're
- 31:48Speaker 2: going that ended up being able to go home, be
- 31:50Speaker 2: where the family's at. It was such a surreal moment
- 31:52Speaker 2: for me.
- 31:54Speaker 1: In 2020, you made the hit that caused Joe Burrow's
- 31:59Speaker 1: knee injury. It was a clean play. There was nothing
- 32:02Speaker 1: dirty about it. It was football. Has it ever come
- 32:05Speaker 1: up now that you're here, even in a joking way
- 32:07Speaker 1: between you and Joe?
- 32:10Speaker 2: There was one practice, I think it was like the
- 32:12Speaker 2: first part of practice where And Olaman kind of fell
- 32:14Speaker 2: by his feet, and he came over and asked who
- 32:16Speaker 2: it was, and he looked at me, and I was like,
- 32:17Speaker 2: it wasn't me this time. So besides that, no, not
- 32:20Speaker 2: too often.
- 32:23Speaker 1: You've had tremendous individual success in the NFL. Unfortunately, the
- 32:26Speaker 1: team's success has not been as high. You got to
- 32:29Speaker 1: an NFC championship game with Washington a few years back.
- 32:33Speaker 1: Is that the biggest thing that you are striving for now?
- 32:36Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. I think you can have high success.
- 32:40Speaker 2: personal accolades and achievements and team success. I don't think
- 32:43Speaker 2: those have to be separate. But for me, at this
- 32:45Speaker 2: point in my career, I just want to win and
- 32:47Speaker 2: I want to play on a winning team and I
- 32:49Speaker 2: want to play meaningful football in December and January. And
- 32:52Speaker 2: I want to have a chance to win a Super Bowl.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Seems like you could keep doing this for a long time.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Is that your goal?
- 32:58Speaker 2: It changes every day. One day is I want to
- 33:00Speaker 2: play for another five, ten years. Next year, next day
- 33:04Speaker 2: is day by day. So I think it's just one
- 33:07Speaker 2: of the things where every year you evaluate your situation
- 33:10Speaker 2: and Play as long as the good Lord allows me
- 33:12Speaker 2: to play.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Time for some wild card topics now with Jonathan Allen.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Who is your all-time favorite athlete in any sport and why?
- 33:21Speaker 2: Marshall Falk. I was a big St. Louis Rams fan,
- 33:23Speaker 2: the greatest show on turf. Kurt Warner, Torrey Holt, Isaac Bruce,
- 33:27Speaker 2: Marshall Falk. Yeah, that was a fun team to watch.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Have you had a chance to meet him?
- 33:32Speaker 2: No, I've never met him. But funny enough, Jeff Scanina,
- 33:35Speaker 2: my D-line coach, was actually on that team. So that
- 33:37Speaker 2: was cool hearing some of the stories that he would
- 33:39Speaker 2: tell me.
- 33:40Speaker 1: What do you like to splurge on? Me, I'm a.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Big collector, so I collect cards and I golf. So
- 33:48Speaker 2: those two things.
- 33:50Speaker 1: All right, well, this might feed into my next question.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Do you swap jerseys after games? And if so, who
- 33:56Speaker 1: are some of the best guys in your collection?
- 33:58Speaker 2: I swapped a lot more when I was younger. After
- 34:01Speaker 2: being in the league for a long time, you kind
- 34:03Speaker 2: of collect a lot of jerseys. I'll probably say I
- 34:05Speaker 2: swap like two or three a year. As far as
- 34:08Speaker 2: some of the biggest names, like Calais Campbell, was a
- 34:11Speaker 2: huge one for me. Fletcher Cox, I mean, that was
- 34:14Speaker 2: a guy that when I got drafted, he was the
- 34:15Speaker 2: guy in my position. So those are definitely some of
- 34:18Speaker 2: the guys that I swapped with. That meant a lot
- 34:19Speaker 2: to me.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Circling back to collecting cards, sports cards, other cards, baseball, football,
- 34:26Speaker 1: what kind of cards?
- 34:27Speaker 2: I'm big into Pokemon cards. That's kind of what I collect.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I think you and Joe Burrow have a topic to discuss.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Exactly, exactly.
- 34:34Speaker 1: All right, final fun fact for Jonathan Allen. This one
- 34:37Speaker 1: is kind of deep. If you could meet Anybody in history,
- 34:41Speaker 1: living or deceased, who would that person be?
- 34:45Speaker 2: I think the easy answer is Jesus. I would love
- 34:47Speaker 2: to meet him in person. After that, I'll probably say
- 34:51Speaker 2: my grandfather. I never got a chance to meet him.
- 34:53Speaker 2: My dad's dad. So I would love to see the
- 34:55Speaker 2: guy that raised the beast who made my dad.
- 34:59Speaker 1: And was your grandfather a Cincinnati guy as well?
- 35:01Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. They all lived here.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I'm sure he'd be very proud of what you've accomplished.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I appreciate your time. Best of luck the rest of
- 35:08Speaker 1: the year.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
