- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: There is purpose in the play There is purpose in the play There is purpose in my life I mean I know it all But I know that is on my side So I'll get on here
- 0:32[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome back to purpose in the blue podcast.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: I am your host, Sherele Evans, and today, we are going to be talking about when you're tired of being the strong one.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_03]: Now, don't get me wrong.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_03]: Being the strong one is a good thing.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_03]: But sometimes we become so accustomed to take care of everybody else that we forget that we need love supporting and understanding the two and the situations.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_03]: I know I have been there recently,
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: In the past where everything was happening around me and I was being there for everyone else but when it was time for me to need some help, nobody knew that I was struggling.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody said, hey, I haven't heard from so and so and while they meet, ring her, different ring and see if she's okay, you know, it was one of those situations.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: you were always this independent person and you had to figure everything out on your own mean they'd life make you that way.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_03]: When you were growing up, did you have to take on responsibilities early?
- 1:46[SPEAKER_03]: I know for me, I had a child at 18 years old.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_03]: So I had to be a dependable person.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_03]: And my family, my mom was there.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_03]: My dad was there, my sister's blood.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_03]: my mom told me when I got pregnant she said, I'm not watching your child for you to go out and party and have a good time.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: I watch your child when you go to work for a school because I was still in school when I had my baby.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: That's all I tell my mom and would watch my child.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_03]: So that made me be more responsible and dependable.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, what are you doing those situations?
- 2:26[SPEAKER_03]: There's being strong because something people expect instead of appreciated and know when you become this strong person all the time and things happen.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_03]: People are like, oh, she got it under control.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: He got it under control because we make it look so easier.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: They make it look so easy to wear.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_03]: And we always have this smile on our face like everything's good.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_03]: And then we also not tell in the truth of how we actually are feeling like you know that you are struggling and you're hurting in certain areas, but sometimes you don't say that you just say, I'm okay, everything's good.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'm blessed and highly favored if that's your thing.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: Like everything's working.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_03]: No one deep down inside you are struggling and you're hurting.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_03]: and you need some help, some prayer, something from somebody.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_03]: You get a little bit too much, say anything because you're the strong person.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and then people just expect you to always know what to do in certain situations.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_03]: So they call on you.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, your strength can develop for necessity, but it's
- 3:42[SPEAKER_03]: It's not your personality.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: It should not be your personality because it could be a hindrance towards you and being independent may help you survive difficult situations.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_03]: But at the same time, sometimes you need help.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes you can't figure it out.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_03]: You need somebody to guide you.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_03]: what protect you protected you in one season, make your eight challenges and another.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_03]: So when you're being in this independent person and in this strong person and you come up on a challenge and it's not a usual one that you're used to, you can use those same independent strong characters to get you through this situation.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_03]: So you might need somebody,
- 4:33[SPEAKER_03]: to pray for you, you might need to call somebody in X for some financial help.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_03]: This is some things that we need to recognize because it's a habit you've developed.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_03]: And you're used to it.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_03]: You become this person.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_03]: And it's, it's good to be strong.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm telling you, this is for me and when it is good, to be strong, but you also need to recognize
- 5:04[SPEAKER_03]: OK, so when everybody depends on you, what does that look like?
- 5:10[SPEAKER_03]: Is everybody calling you?
- 5:12[SPEAKER_03]: When there's a problem, is it financially?
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: Are you either the money earned or in the family?
- 5:19[SPEAKER_03]: So everybody know, hey, so I've got it.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_03]: I could just ask her or him or so.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_03]: So I know how to do this.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_03]: I just ask him or her, that can be draining sometimes.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_03]: like you can't always be the strong person, like people assuming you're okay because you always handle things and that's okay but not okay especially when it's hard times and the thing that gets me is people know what you're going through some time to have hard times but
- 6:03[SPEAKER_03]: You don't need anybody else.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_03]: You got it all on a control.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: You good?
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's natural.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, do you have anybody in your life in your life?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: On both questions, I'm anxious.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_03]: Do you have anybody in your life at will check on you?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_03]: that has checked on you.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have people in your life that depend on you that will say, so as I could do this for me, not where to put that.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_03]: And then they depend on you so much that when you can't do it, there's a whole issue.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_03]: When you can't provide what they need.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_03]: Now,
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: That's wrong.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: That's wrong.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_03]: And this always creates it to me because people will always forget the many times that you have said yes to something or help them with something.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_03]: But the one time as you say, no, they are all up in arms and just all distraught and you're just this terrible person and you selfish and everything, all kinds of things come out and come to mind.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: And it's just
- 7:27[SPEAKER_03]: how that happens, but another question I wanted to ask you also, being surrounded by people doesn't automatically mean you feel supported.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_03]: So when you're around people, do you feel supported?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: Are those people supporting you because they're actually caring?
- 7:47[SPEAKER_03]: Love you?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: Are they supporting you?
- 7:49[SPEAKER_03]: Because they can get something from you in the end or in the big towards the end.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you may not realize you need help if you've never communicated this, but if you never expressed that you need help at least once or twice in your life, nobody is going to know they're going to think you got it all on control.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_03]: So I want you to use your voice and start asking for help that you need it, not just help
- 8:24[SPEAKER_03]: I need some, I need you, I need you right now.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_03]: I need some assistance.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_03]: Last sister, I love her down, okay?
- 8:32[SPEAKER_03]: I say I love her.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_03]: I hope she don't mind me saying her name, but she has brought me help me through a lot of things.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_03]: My sister, precious.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_03]: G is her name fits her to a T because she is so precious to me and such a blessing in so many ways.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: whenever I am going through anything, even if I'm not going through anything, I can say that she will reach out to me.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_03]: If she ain't hired for me in a couple of days or there's been no communication, it seems like, hey, what are you doing?
- 9:09[SPEAKER_03]: How are you doing?
- 9:11[SPEAKER_03]: And it was just I think maybe a month or two ago, I was on my way to my office and I was thinking about her and I was like,
- 9:18[SPEAKER_03]: she has been such a wonderful sister, friend, supporter, like in everything through all my years so that I was like Lord I pray that I am that for her what she is to me.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_03]: Even if it's just a little bit of what she gives to me that I can get back to her, it would make me feel better to know
- 9:49[SPEAKER_03]: So I just want to drop that out in there too.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_03]: If she listens and she sees this, I hope she knows how much she's loved and cared about.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_03]: But on another note, I hope you have someone in your corner that is there for you, no matter what.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_03]: I do have a few other people in my life that have been there for me as well too.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_03]: But she has been a,
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: a main consistent light, no matter where I go, she's there.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_03]: I moved to South Carolina, she moved into South Carolina like this is, it's so funny.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, I could talk about her for hours, but we're not going to do that, so I wanted to actually
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: Do people love you for who you are and what you do?
- 10:54[SPEAKER_03]: That brings exactly about my sister.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_03]: Like, do people love you for who you are, or for what you do?
- 11:02[SPEAKER_03]: I truly believe that my sister and a few others love me for who I am and for what I do, but they don't think it vanished up it.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes,
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: Being in need it can make you feel important.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_03]: I know sometimes, I've seen some people that where they need validation, they need to be needed.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what happens when they don't have anything to give?
- 11:36[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll give you this example.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't that I needed it to be needed in this situation.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: But I got so accustomed to it.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I got so accustomed to taking care of her and being there for her that I, when she passed away, and I didn't have to do that anymore.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_03]: I was like, what am I supposed to be doing here?
- 12:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like, what am I doing now?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, how I'm how I'm, what is life?
- 12:13[SPEAKER_03]: You know, what is my purpose now?
- 12:20[SPEAKER_03]: To me, was taking care of my mother and making sure she was okay and had everything she need.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_03]: But now that she's not hearing me more, I was at a loss in my life.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_02]: And that was me.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: I guess you could say needing to be needed because I was so used to doing stuff for someone else.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I had to,
- 12:49[SPEAKER_03]: come to terms with okay you can't be there all the time you have to do something and it also made me realize that I think my family may have thought that I was the strong one or one of the strong ones because it was quiet except for precious precious was
- 13:16[SPEAKER_03]: Honey, she was checking out everybody.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_03]: She's super hero, super, super family, super every day.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_03]: But it was quiet in some instances and I felt like, where is everybody?
- 13:29[SPEAKER_03]: Like, and then I went to thinking, you know how we are when we're this dependent person and we're there for everyone else and not, no one's there for us.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_03]: We're like,
- 13:44[SPEAKER_03]: or understand what I went through when it came to me taking care of my mom.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_03]: Let me have them to clean her up and change her and take her, give her showers and be there, try to give her CPR and try to keep her from leaving in the old moment, like, didn't anybody ask me if I was okay?
- 14:14[SPEAKER_03]: If it was okay, but when you're in that space, it's like, um, they're asking, but do they truly care?
- 14:24[SPEAKER_03]: That's one of the things that we may struggle with when it comes to being independent, like, giving up.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_03]: Being independent sometimes or being the strong one, it's like we don't want to necessarily feel weak.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_03]: but also at the same time, we're home, human, and we have these feelings.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's natural, it's natural, and I just want people to understand that the strong people need help too.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_03]: Excuse me, the strong people need help too, and you don't always wanna assume that someone is strong.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, just send a prayer,
- 15:11[SPEAKER_03]: for something.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_03]: It helps.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_03]: Um, that brings me to why is asking for help so difficult for us.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_03]: The strong ones to independent ones.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_03]: I know it can be uncomfortable.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_03]: I don't like asking for help.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be honest.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_03]: I really don't.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes we may be afraid of the disappointment if they say no.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_03]: And then we get disappointed because we got to think it.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_03]: Oh,
- 15:39[SPEAKER_03]: I was there for them for this and this, this, this, this, and then you go to feeling like you old someone when they help.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_03]: I don't like feeling like I old somebody because they did something for me.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_03]: This is me being honest.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_03]: Now, no, I'm not alone when it comes to this.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: It's being honest.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, saying what you want, saying that you need support, but struggling to accept it, is really a mind-boggling.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_03]: It gives you headaches, I'm telling you.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that sometimes as there's been a strong wind and independent, we feel more safe when we're in control of things.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_03]: We feel like, okay, I can do this by myself, I don't need help,
- 16:30[SPEAKER_03]: And then especially if it comes to like business stuff or anything like that, if it's your baby or business, you have this issue with asking for help because you want it done in certain way.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_03]: And then sometimes people can't do it the way that you want it done.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_03]: So now you're in this place where I just have to do about myself.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
- 16:52[SPEAKER_03]: You have to think about those things.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_03]: In that same moment, if you do get the help that you need, it feels so much better when somebody is there and they actually care.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_03]: Can you maybe feel like you're protecting your independence or protecting yourself from being disappointed again?
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: But you're just making it harder for yourself sometimes.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_03]: Now, it's a difference if you ask for help and they can't do it, you need to be okay with that.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_03]: especially if they genuinely can't do it.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_03]: And then sometimes people just don't wanna do it if they don't, if they don't, they have their own lives.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_03]: This is one thing that I always try to remember.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_03]: People have their own lives too.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_03]: And they are going through things as well, like Francis, when my mom passed away.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_03]: I couldn't fault my family for not checking on me and being providing for me and being there as much as I would have liked.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_03]: I also have to understand, they just lost their mom, they just lost their wife, their sister, their cousin, their, you know, they just lost someone too.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_03]: So they're trying to figure out their own stuff.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_03]: And me, having to be strong, it's like, this when you go have to work out with yourself and God, honey, he's fine, you have to be okay with it.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_03]: they say no.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: So now I want to ask you what happens when you start saying no?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_03]: You're the strong person.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_03]: You're always the giver of the helper.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_03]: You know, what happens when you start saying no?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_03]: Are you going to feel guilty for us that in boundaries?
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's natural.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_03]: But you feel better
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: People are going to be surprised when you stop saying yes to everything and it's okay, they'll be all right They'll figure it out You have to know the difference between helping someone in rescue and someone this brings me to the certain person Whatever she needed whenever she needed it, it was always provided She never really had to work for anything
- 19:26[SPEAKER_03]: And when they started saying no to her, it was like, she felt like the world was against her.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_03]: Like nobody cares, nobody wants to help me.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: This isn't fair.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_03]: So it was just like a whole bunch of different things, but if you keep helping people, keep helping people and being a strong one and being a strong one.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_03]: going to help them all the time.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_03]: It enables them to where they feel like, oh, so I want to take care of it.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_03]: So I was so glad it.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_03]: I don't got to worry about that.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_03]: And then they have to figure it out.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: So people need to know being in the strong when you're going to have to say no.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: Some people, they're going to be upset about it.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: when you say no.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_03]: It means that at this particular time, season in your life, you may have to say no for you.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_03]: You can't push yourself and push yourself and be here and be here, be strong, be strong, keep going, keep going, and you're not there for yourself.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a strong believer on
- 20:56[SPEAKER_03]: I'm learning this.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_03]: It's still a process sometimes.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes it gives me a trouble.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_03]: Who can I not just be in there for myself?
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, we all work in progress, y'all.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is life, you've gotta do it, you know.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_03]: I just want you guys to not let it be your identity
- 21:27[SPEAKER_03]: being known as a strong mother friend, caregiver, business owners.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's all good and dandy, but you need some help.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_03]: You can't do anything alone.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_03]: Even God placed Eve on the earth for Adam, because he said, it's not good for me to be alone.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think that was just in the physical stance.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_03]: I think that means in the mental and spiritual sense, if I natural spin, then you need some help.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody needs help.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_03]: don't throw some stuff to where you're going to need some assistance and I don't want you to not know where you are outside your responsibility.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_03]: Saying no doesn't mean that you won't do it eventually or you just will stop all together.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: Some people you may need to stop all together though.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_02]: We want everything you got to be okay with receiving and be okay with saying, no, you know.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: And be okay with somebody taking care of you.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's all funny to me that when me and get sick, they turn into these big babies.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: They're these strong, strong men can fix the car or change the transmission or
- 22:51[SPEAKER_03]: be whatever else to be in fights and brawls and everything, but soon as they get sick, they turn it to a baby and they need somebody.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_03]: They need some help, okay, it's okay, be there, say, hey, help me, I am struggling, I need some help, it's okay to be vulnerable, me and too, it's okay to be vulnerable, they don't have
- 23:19[SPEAKER_03]: we need some help when we start going with something, okay, I want you to also ask yourself this question, is your relationship one side?
- 23:28[SPEAKER_03]: This is where we have to actually evaluate our relationships.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_03]: So the people in your circle, I want you to go think about them one by one, you know, is this person truly for me or do they only call me when they need something?
- 23:42[SPEAKER_03]: Is this person truly
- 23:46[SPEAKER_03]: They just stick around because of my status or what I can do.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I want you to think about this in every aspect.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_03]: So where do people fit in when it comes to being strong?
- 23:59[SPEAKER_03]: Are you that person that always calls and depends on somebody to fix something for you?
- 24:04[SPEAKER_03]: Because I mean, this could go both ways when it comes to being a strong person.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_03]: So you have to recognize your general friendships versus convenience.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_03]: and you need to understand difference in seasons require different levels of support.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, sometimes you may have season where everybody is around, do everybody supported, and then you have a season where everybody is going.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_03]: That just means that they're not a part of your continuous.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: And that's totally okay.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: So, I want you to think about Galatians 6 and 2.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_03]: Be one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_03]: So, God does call us to take care of one another.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_03]: That means
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: It should be an equal taking care of someone.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_03]: It shouldn't be one-sided.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_03]: Why are we sometimes more comfortable helping when receiving help?
- 25:20[SPEAKER_03]: It's easier to help some more.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_03]: Because if you think of added when you have to ask for help, you don't want to be looked at as, I'll see, see you, he can't get this again.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: They need to be, you know, you don't want the,
- 25:35[SPEAKER_03]: but gossiping to started.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_03]: You don't want people to look at you a certain way.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_03]: You may have pride of fear sometimes that interfere with accepting support.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_03]: And I've been there, I don't wanna ask for help because I don't wanna feel like that I don't got what I need and I can do something.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_03]: That's a natural human response.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_03]: But we need to get over it.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, and also I want you to think about
- 26:05[SPEAKER_03]: What's the difference between supporting someone and taking responsibility for their entire life?
- 26:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like, do you do everything for somebody?
- 26:17[SPEAKER_03]: Has they been able to handle things on their own without your assistance?
- 26:30[SPEAKER_03]: You can't carry everybody's burdens.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_03]: It's okay to help some people out help here and there.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_03]: But you can't carry everybody's burdens.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: Don't make somebody else's issues become your issues because you're the strong one.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_03]: I remember that movie in Canthel, sister, she had that song, the strong one, because she was the strong one.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_03]: She could lift everything.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_03]: But if you pay attention to that song, she had some fears, she had some weaknesses too.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_03]: So I want to talk to think about these certain things.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, mutual care is a part of a healthy Christian relationship.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_03]: As him for help is necessarily a lack of faith.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_02]: That just means that you believe that God gonces and body to help you.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_03]: I can work with people in offer encouragement and support.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: This is another example from my wonderful sister pressure.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_03]: offering encouragement and support in so many ways, even some of my friends that are here, but not here at the same time, support is wonderful, even if it's from afar.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_03]: You may not know that people are supporting you or praying for you, but I don't want you to always feel like you have to do everything on your own, either.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: So I want you to learn to do things a little differently.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_03]: Like communicating your needs instead and expecting others to know.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_03]: People don't know.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: People are not mind readers.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: I've said this multiple times.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not a moderator.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what's going on.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_03]: People don't know what's going on with me.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_03]: If I don't say anything, you need to allow people the opportunity to help you.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_03]: If you don't say anything, they can't help you.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_03]: You also need to be more intentional about where you put your energy because some people you probably shouldn't be helping all the time or they don't need help, they just don't want to do it themselves.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you need to recognize when you're overextending yourself as well too.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_03]: So just think about those things, okay?
- 29:00[SPEAKER_03]: I won't try to think about that.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_03]: I don't want you to think about
- 29:04[SPEAKER_03]: Are you the son, person in your family, your relationships or any of your relationships?
- 29:10[SPEAKER_03]: And if you are, how did you get that role?
- 29:13[SPEAKER_03]: How did you get it?
- 29:15[SPEAKER_03]: Did you choose it?
- 29:17[SPEAKER_03]: Did life put you there as that strong person?
- 29:22[SPEAKER_03]: Did you become a custom to be a needed and did know how to step away from it?
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: because you've forgotten to use your voice and you're so used to doing everything.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_03]: If we don't open our mouths and say anything, whether it's a yes or no, or I need help, nobody is going to listen.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_03]: So these are some questions I want you to think about.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_03]: Do people value me for who my am or mainly for what I do?
- 30:08[SPEAKER_02]: Think about that.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_03]: Am I allowing people to help me when I need help?
- 30:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know you need help, but you won't say nothing.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_03]: And if you do, if they do offer help, I've been here before.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_03]: I've had off people offer me help and I say no.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_03]: Because I feel like it was too much for them.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't want them to feel
- 30:31[SPEAKER_03]: Like they had like whatever they were offering me was more than what I would be okay with them doing for me.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: You know what I'm saying?
- 30:40[SPEAKER_03]: Have I maybe needed a part of my identity?
- 30:44[SPEAKER_03]: Have you made it to where this is a part of your identity?
- 30:47[SPEAKER_03]: You need somebody to need you.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_03]: I want you all to think about that.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_03]: What in my life need to more honest communication?
- 30:57[SPEAKER_03]: What areas?
- 30:59[SPEAKER_03]: Do I need to be more honest than I need help?
- 31:01[SPEAKER_03]: Do I need to be more honest, that no, I'm not the strong one?
- 31:05[SPEAKER_03]: No, I can't help you.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_03]: And then I want to ask this up this question.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_03]: What would happen if you stop trying to solve everybody's problems?
- 31:15[SPEAKER_03]: You can still be strong and need somebody.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_03]: You can be independent and still accept support.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_03]: And you can love people without taking responsibility for everything that happens in their life.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_03]: I won't try to be honest, answer those questions, get back with me, and let me know.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, I remember there's purpose in the blood.
- 31:40[UNKNOWN]: There is purpose in the blood.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: There is purpose in the pain There is purpose in my life I may not know it all But I know God is on my side So I will focus on him
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: blood.
