- 0:36Speaker 3: I help out a lot of our dealers, so Shields
- 0:40Speaker 3: and some of the mom and pops. But a big
- 0:42Speaker 3: part of my job right now is rolling up the
- 0:44Speaker 3: new store in a Dinah or Minneapolis location. And I
- 0:48Speaker 3: get the other locations dialed in for the Meat Eater store.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Very excited that one's going to open in August. August
- 0:54Speaker 2: August fifteenth, Great State of Man Party. What are your
- 0:59Speaker 2: strengths and weak is when it comes to Meat Eater Trivia, Hunting, fishing, conservation, cooking.
- 1:03Speaker 4: I think uh, I think huntings.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Hunting is good, conservation strong depending on where you steer
- 1:09Speaker 3: the ship, though, if you get too deep into fishing
- 1:11Speaker 3: or somewhere else.
- 1:12Speaker 4: It's gonna be It's gonna be rough.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Okay, you and Nat'll get along, Jarryes. This is a
- 1:17Speaker 2: ten round quizz show with questions for meat Eater's four verticals,
- 1:20Speaker 2: which again are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking. There is
- 1:23Speaker 2: a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred dollars to
- 1:25Speaker 2: the conservation organization of the winners choosing and meat Eater
- 1:29Speaker 2: Trivia is brought to you by one of my favorite beers,
- 1:31Speaker 2: bush Light bush Light Head for the Mountains. All right,
- 1:34Speaker 2: we have a mail bag question today. If you have
- 1:36Speaker 2: a question you want the crew to answer, send your
- 1:39Speaker 2: question to Trivia at the meadeater dot com with the
- 1:41Speaker 2: subject line mail bag. This is from Andrew Robinson. What's
- 1:46Speaker 2: the most unique or gross wild game that you've eaten?
- 1:50Speaker 4: What do we got? I got one?
- 1:53Speaker 5: I shot a I gut shot at a dough one
- 1:55Speaker 5: time and found it the next morning, super sad. But
- 1:58Speaker 5: we skinned it out. And when we're pulling the back,
- 2:00Speaker 5: like the skin off the back, that silver skin on
- 2:03Speaker 5: the backstrap just came right off and I touched it
- 2:06Speaker 5: and my finger just went through the backstrap.
- 2:09Speaker 4: And so we tried to eat it.
- 2:11Speaker 2: You can imagine its What did it taste? I just
- 2:13Speaker 2: just meat?
- 2:14Speaker 4: Yeah, just like that. I mean imagine like licking the
- 2:16Speaker 4: inside of your stomach.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Okay, that's what it tastes, all right, I'll think about
- 2:21Speaker 2: that other unique or gross wild game in the room.
- 2:24Speaker 2: What do we got?
- 2:24Speaker 6: I got a long list of unique shit.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Mm hmmm.
- 2:27Speaker 6: Uh so part of my plate.
- 2:30Speaker 2: March is there for all the episodes.
- 2:32Speaker 6: So Bobcat, coote, crow, coyote, skunk also had alligator here,
- 2:39Speaker 6: I've had walrus and I've had seal.
- 2:41Speaker 2: That's a unique list. It's gonna be hard to beat, Marge.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I think alligators definitely. It's a finicky one. I shot
- 2:48Speaker 3: like a ten foot a couple of years ago.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Cool.
- 2:50Speaker 4: We tried like everything to make that thing taste good.
- 2:53Speaker 3: And there's a reason why they fry it, like, yeah,
- 2:56Speaker 3: you gotta grind it, put it in chilly or give
- 2:58Speaker 3: a little.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Love for shure. I'ned off by the taste of alligator.
- 3:01Speaker 2: But the textures always pretty pretty tough.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Yeah, And if you get away from the tail, like
- 3:05Speaker 3: the front legs and the back legs, it's uh, it's.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Grainy to see anything else jake, besides gator that has
- 3:11Speaker 2: been hard to swallow.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Try to eat starlings once starlings.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah, my father in law has a giant mulberry tree,
- 3:19Speaker 3: and so I'd go under there and shoot them with
- 3:20Speaker 3: the twenty two and felt guilty for my pile and
- 3:24Speaker 3: gave it a try and it. There's a reason. There's
- 3:27Speaker 3: a reason why there's a billion of those things going around.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Other other answers.
- 3:32Speaker 7: We had some grossing clients last year and they wanted
- 3:36Speaker 7: to make like their traditional Russian like fish head soup.
- 3:39Speaker 8: Oh and the lady, like the head lady. Apparently she
- 3:42Speaker 8: was like the bill Dance of Russia.
- 3:44Speaker 6: She was like, pro.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Fisherman falls off. I love that.
- 3:47Speaker 8: No, no, no, that never fell out. But she's like, nope,
- 3:49Speaker 8: I don't need any help. I don't. She's breaked up
- 3:51Speaker 8: all her own stuff.
- 3:53Speaker 7: Anyway, they'd make this suit by like boiling fish heads,
- 3:56Speaker 7: whole salmon carcasses in there, just pick all the meat off.
- 4:00Speaker 7: But she would eat the boiled heads after they've cooled off,
- 4:04Speaker 7: and they're just all freaking coagulated. Man, if you can
- 4:07Speaker 7: imagine the head of a buck's silver salmon, just.
- 4:10Speaker 8: With a big type and all pulvus. Yeah. She just
- 4:13Speaker 8: start the nose and work her way back and just cartilage, teeth, everything.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Did you take a bite?
- 4:19Speaker 7: I got suckered into it. Okay, She's like everyone in
- 4:22Speaker 7: Russia does it. And I was like, oh, well, you know,
- 4:24Speaker 7: just being polite. Took a big old chomp and everyone
- 4:26Speaker 7: started laughing. I was like, all right, just got suckered
- 4:29Speaker 7: into that.
- 4:29Speaker 8: Even the other guides were in on it.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It's no good. As Marge said, during the part of
- 4:33Speaker 2: my plate days, we had a lot of unique things.
- 4:35Speaker 2: The two worst, though, were the skunk and the goldfish.
- 4:37Speaker 2: And you might be like, well, goldfish, it's not wild game.
- 4:40Speaker 2: They're now found in forty nine to fifty states, like
- 4:42Speaker 2: you know, they're more widespread than the white tailed deer.
- 4:45Speaker 2: But the skunk and goldfish, there's no needy, no reason
- 4:48Speaker 2: to try to eat one of those.
- 4:49Speaker 6: Skunk was so bad.
- 4:50Speaker 2: It was bad, tasted like it like.
- 4:52Speaker 6: It smelled yeah, and it was so dark.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah. So if you got a nose, you don't need
- 4:57Speaker 2: to try skunk. Any other answers for an drew before
- 5:00Speaker 2: we move on.
- 5:01Speaker 4: I had some Carl Carl it's uh futrefied shark and Iceland.
- 5:09Speaker 9: Oh gross, ye Microphonalista.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Please sorry, I forgot uh.
- 5:17Speaker 6: We had a podcast guest in the old office. We
- 5:20Speaker 6: had the whale. I forget about that.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what was your review of the fermented whale
- 5:26Speaker 2: was not my favorite.
- 5:28Speaker 6: Yeah, it was a little hard to to get down,
- 5:31Speaker 6: but fever. I don't know how unique that is, but
- 5:35Speaker 6: in this.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Office it's not unique. But you know, globally, there's not
- 5:39Speaker 2: a lot of folks eating that, So that that's that
- 5:41Speaker 2: one works all right for housekeeping. Today, we've had a
- 5:45Speaker 2: few listeners tell us that their podcasts are cutting out
- 5:47Speaker 2: part way through meat Eater shows. Phil is here to help. Phil,
- 5:51Speaker 2: what you got?
- 5:52Speaker 9: I hope, I'm here to help.
- 5:53Speaker 10: So you may have heard that podcasts are TV shows now,
- 5:57Speaker 10: and in the spirit of that, Apple has a video
- 6:00Speaker 10: feature on there on their app, and we started putting
- 6:03Speaker 10: our meti Eater shows on.
- 6:06Speaker 9: Apple Podcasts as video.
- 6:07Speaker 10: But the thing that happens when we do that is
- 6:09Speaker 10: that the file sizes are twenty times larger than the
- 6:12Speaker 10: MP three's that we used to do. If you're on
- 6:15Speaker 10: Spotify or a different platform, you're probably not running into
- 6:18Speaker 10: this issue because you're still only downloading the audio file.
- 6:21Speaker 10: But if you are on Apple podcasts and either have
- 6:24Speaker 10: bad cell service or not enough room on your phone,
- 6:27Speaker 10: or your just the show is skipping around. There is
- 6:30Speaker 10: a really annoying solution that will remain annoying until some
- 6:34Speaker 10: iOS update in the future. You can download audio only
- 6:38Speaker 10: on Apple podcasts, but you can only do it if
- 6:42Speaker 10: automatic downloads are turned on. I'm a manual downloader, and
- 6:47Speaker 10: I'm a lot of you are as well.
- 6:48Speaker 9: But if to.
- 6:50Speaker 10: Reduce the file size, the only way to change that
- 6:52Speaker 10: is to go to the show setting. So if you
- 6:54Speaker 10: go to the met eater podcast like podcast page in
- 6:57Speaker 10: your podcast app, you go to the upper right hand corner,
- 7:00Speaker 10: there's an ellipses. There three dots to click on that
- 7:02Speaker 10: go to show settings, scroll down to automatic downloads and
- 7:06Speaker 10: you can turn that on. And there's some you can
- 7:09Speaker 10: turn it on, like to only download the most recent
- 7:11Speaker 10: episode or the most recent five, or whatever however you
- 7:14Speaker 10: want to do it. And then right below that it'll
- 7:16Speaker 10: say download audio only or it'll say download video, and
- 7:20Speaker 10: that's set to off. I don't know why it only
- 7:24Speaker 10: works with automatic downloads on Apple podcasts. That seems like
- 7:27Speaker 10: an insane oversight. Send your complaints. To at Tim Cook.
- 7:31Speaker 10: But until if there's a future iOS update, the only
- 7:34Speaker 10: way to download audio only and reduce those file sizes
- 7:37Speaker 10: is to turn on automatic downloads and set download video
- 7:40Speaker 10: to off. And if that changes in the future, we'll
- 7:43Speaker 10: update you here.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I guess okay, fill to the rescue. Thank you Phil.
- 7:47Speaker 2: The Shelby Index for today is a five, putting us
- 7:50Speaker 2: some perfect score. Alert. With that, we're on at the
- 7:52Speaker 2: game of trivia. Play the drop fill no.
- 7:58Speaker 9: Signs.
- 7:58Speaker 6: Wow, you just tend to win everything.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Question one the topic is cooking. This first great question
- 8:16Speaker 2: is via Brian Purcer. Which of these is not considered
- 8:21Speaker 2: one of the Big six food born illnesses? Is it botulism,
- 8:27Speaker 2: Salmonila e coli or neurovirus? This is from the USDA.
- 8:36Speaker 2: They have compiled what they call the Big six food
- 8:40Speaker 2: born illnesses, So it's three of these a part of
- 8:43Speaker 2: the Big six. One of them is not. Is it botulism,
- 8:47Speaker 2: salmonilla e coli or neurovirus?
- 8:51Speaker 4: Wait to stick with some current events, Yes, and.
- 8:55Speaker 10: Just I want to add one more thing onto the last.
- 8:57Speaker 10: Sorry to change topics here, Spencer, but just to add
- 8:59Speaker 10: one more thing. I'm sure a lot of people are
- 9:01Speaker 10: like well, why are you doing this if there's so
- 9:02Speaker 10: many tech issues and it's not working, and just to
- 9:04Speaker 10: be a transparent company. Man here, it's honestly, it's been
- 9:07Speaker 10: good for our shows so a lot. We have new
- 9:11Speaker 10: audiences that are fighting the shows because Apple is pushing
- 9:15Speaker 10: their video stuff more.
- 9:16Speaker 9: So.
- 9:18Speaker 10: You know, I don't know if you've heard. It's hard
- 9:19Speaker 10: to run a media company in the year twenty twenty six.
- 9:21Speaker 2: And we we gotta do what we gotta do. And
- 9:24Speaker 2: as a consumer, I like having the video feed in
- 9:27Speaker 2: the podcast option. We're gonna get it figured out again.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Which of these is not considered one of the Big
- 9:33Speaker 2: six food borne illnesses botulism, sealmonilla coli, neuro virus. Is
- 9:39Speaker 2: everybody ready, let's do it. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Corey and Alyssa and Sarah and Cade say neurovirus, Marge says,
- 9:50Speaker 2: what's it say March norovirus, Nate, Nora virus, Jake, no revirus.
- 9:57Speaker 2: The whole room got it a wrong. The correct answer
- 10:02Speaker 2: is due.
- 10:06Speaker 4: That's a classic right there.
- 10:09Speaker 2: According to the USDA, the Big six, the food born
- 10:13Speaker 2: illnesses are selmonilla, typhoid, Shigella E. Coli, norovirus and hepatitis A.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Only about one hundred and fifty Americans get botulism each year,
- 10:25Speaker 2: with a quarter of those being from contaminated food. The
- 10:29Speaker 2: most common way to get botulism is from food. From
- 10:32Speaker 2: food is by eating canned goods that were improperly preserved.
- 10:36Speaker 4: But don't you die if you get botulism?
- 10:38Speaker 2: I think it's a serious uh thing to get, but
- 10:42Speaker 2: it's just not common. Again, only one hundred and fifty
- 10:43Speaker 2: people get it, and only about a quarter of those
- 10:46Speaker 2: are from food.
- 10:47Speaker 5: So it's like a it's an occurrence thing, not a
- 10:49Speaker 5: like serious thing.
- 10:50Speaker 2: I think it's in our universe a lot more because
- 10:52Speaker 2: we just work a lot with preserving meat. It's most
- 10:55Speaker 2: common when you're trying to preserve meat because it doesn't
- 10:57Speaker 2: have acid, so you need to use a pressure canner.
- 11:00Speaker 2: That's why everyone thought that had to be one of
- 11:02Speaker 2: the Big six question too. The topic is hunting. This
- 11:07Speaker 2: term is defined as quote a psychological and neurological condition
- 11:12Speaker 2: in archery where anxiety over hitting the bullseye causes a
- 11:17Speaker 2: breakdown in the shot process.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Dude, I got it bad.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Okay, we'll hear more from Nate, I thought after the
- 11:24Speaker 2: answer is revealed. Maybe that's how you fix it.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Yeah, no, there's a different reason I got shot.
- 11:31Speaker 2: This term is defined as a psychological and neurological condition
- 11:35Speaker 2: in archery, where anxiety over hitting the bullseye causes a
- 11:39Speaker 2: breakdown in the shot process.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Is it are you doing? Are you throwing us? Easy
- 11:43Speaker 4: to Broni questions.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I tried to get the Shelby index to a five,
- 11:47Speaker 2: and we achieved that so that our Jabroni's can have
- 11:50Speaker 2: a fun, high scoring game on.
- 11:53Speaker 4: My wife will not You can't hear me because of that.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But you tell you that stat only one hundred and
- 11:59Speaker 2: fifty people in order of those are from.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Foods, she will think that she will undoubtedly be one
- 12:03Speaker 3: of the one hundred and fifty people.
- 12:06Speaker 2: When we're on question to the topic is hunting. This
- 12:09Speaker 2: term is defined as a psychological and neurological condition in
- 12:12Speaker 2: archery word anxiety over hitting the bullseye causes a breakdown
- 12:16Speaker 2: in the shot process. Is everybody ready? Go ahead and
- 12:20Speaker 2: reveal your answers? Corey says buck fever, Alyssa says trigger finger,
- 12:26Speaker 2: Sarah target paralysis, Caade, target panic, Marge Buck Fever, Nate
- 12:33Speaker 2: target panic, Jake target panic, the correct answer is target panic. Oh,
- 12:39Speaker 2: I think we had three of arge Broni's get that
- 12:42Speaker 2: one right. Target panic can cause flinching, freezing, or misfiring.
- 12:47Speaker 2: It's estimated that ninety percent of archers have experienced it
- 12:51Speaker 2: at some point. For tips on dealing with this issue,
- 12:53Speaker 2: go read Mark Kenyon's article on the medeater dot com
- 12:56Speaker 2: called how to Fix target panic in three Steps.
- 13:00Speaker 7: I shot four eh archery grown up my instructor, so
- 13:05Speaker 7: we shot the Vegas three spot targets and if we
- 13:08Speaker 7: would if we flinched at all when we were shooting
- 13:10Speaker 7: our bow hunter with the mechanical releases, he would hit
- 13:13Speaker 7: us in the back of the thighs with an arrow.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Hey, what does target panic look like for you?
- 13:24Speaker 8: Oh?
- 13:24Speaker 4: Just absolute sadness, terrible.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Yeah. The most common way I would experience is just
- 13:31Speaker 2: like you kind of don't even know what's gonna happen,
- 13:33Speaker 2: but like you just like flinch, like or Cade was describing,
- 13:38Speaker 2: and they're like, what's going on? My brain wasn't communicating
- 13:40Speaker 2: with my body. It's weird to sage.
- 13:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I need you to come by my house and
- 13:43Speaker 4: whip me in the morning.
- 13:45Speaker 8: He's aluminum arrows too, not the carbons some.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Old school learning question three. The topic is outdoors. This
- 13:53Speaker 2: next great question is via Nolan plok check what month
- 13:57Speaker 2: does daylight savings time end? Oh?
- 14:01Speaker 4: Very topical, very.
- 14:03Speaker 2: What month does daylight savings time end? This is not
- 14:12Speaker 2: a trick question. The answer isn't like no month, it's
- 14:16Speaker 2: when it ends. It's one of our twelve months? What
- 14:18Speaker 2: month does daylight savings time?
- 14:21Speaker 4: And I'm from Arizona?
- 14:27Speaker 2: Is anybody confident in this one? Corey?
- 14:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I finally got one right.
- 14:31Speaker 5: Okay, I'm sugging when it starts?
- 14:35Speaker 2: And what month does daylight savings time end? Alyssa? Do
- 14:43Speaker 2: you have this one right?
- 14:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:46Speaker 8: I'm struggling.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I know that.
- 14:49Speaker 9: I think I know that too much.
- 14:51Speaker 2: The room is waffling. Does anybody know they have this one?
- 14:56Speaker 8: No?
- 14:57Speaker 2: A lot of maybes in the room. What month does
- 15:00Speaker 2: a light savings time?
- 15:01Speaker 5: And I can't remember when it starts? Or I mean,
- 15:06Speaker 5: I don't know which one is with ye? And I'm
- 15:09Speaker 5: confused on the months and.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Your phone just switches for you. What do you gotta
- 15:12Speaker 4: worry about anymore?
- 15:13Speaker 8: Dude?
- 15:13Speaker 4: I'm just trying to think.
- 15:14Speaker 5: M Yeah, when I'm deer hunting and like it's cool
- 15:18Speaker 5: and you can get out out and work, and then
- 15:20Speaker 5: it's not relating to that thing I can't remember. Everybody ready,
- 15:25Speaker 5: lots of hints today.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Corey says November, Alyssa October,
- 15:33Speaker 2: Sarah April, Cad March, March, December, Nate September, Jake November.
- 15:43Speaker 2: There is a correct answer in the room. It's November.
- 15:47Speaker 2: We had Cory and Jake. It's that one right, and
- 15:51Speaker 2: Kate if he wouldn't have crossed it out because I
- 15:52Speaker 2: keep thinking like Daylight Savings Time begins on the second
- 15:56Speaker 2: Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.
- 16:00Speaker 2: This year, those dates fall on March eighth and November first.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Earlier this month, the House of Representatives past the Sunshine
- 16:07Speaker 2: Protection Act, which would make daylight Savings Time permanent. Next
- 16:12Speaker 2: it will head to the Senate and then to President Trump.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Trump has signaled that he will sign the bill if
- 16:17Speaker 2: it makes it to his desk, calling the act a
- 16:20Speaker 2: quote very nice win for the Republican Party. And as
- 16:24Speaker 2: Nate talked about, it affects your deer hunting. In fall,
- 16:26Speaker 2: there was one thing I cared about in college as
- 16:29Speaker 2: far as like getting me to write an email to
- 16:31Speaker 2: a politician, and it was to get them to end
- 16:34Speaker 2: daylight savings or keep it so that the sun was
- 16:37Speaker 2: rising later because the bars stay open the same amount,
- 16:40Speaker 2: So when the bar is open till two am, I'm
- 16:42Speaker 2: gonna be there till two am, but now I have
- 16:44Speaker 2: to get up an hour earlier when the clocks change.
- 16:47Speaker 2: That got me to write some emails, and here we are,
- 16:50Speaker 2: like thirteen years later. Maybe it's going to pay off.
- 16:52Speaker 11: I read something where they tried it in a couple
- 16:54Speaker 11: stay like northern States, and they ended up rolling it
- 16:57Speaker 11: back because like kids walking to school, they were like
- 17:01Speaker 11: incidents with cars and kids we're having to like use
- 17:04Speaker 11: flashlights to get to school in the morning.
- 17:06Speaker 2: If you've seen some of the maps, we're gonna be
- 17:07Speaker 2: like in the most affected area, we're gonna have sunrises
- 17:10Speaker 2: after nine am for a period. Not a lot of
- 17:12Speaker 2: the country will experience that, but will be in like
- 17:14Speaker 2: this small minority.
- 17:14Speaker 6: Of Arizona never has adopted Arizona.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I think the Navajo Nation does. It can get very
- 17:22Speaker 2: confusing over there, but yeah, I think Arizona doesn't participate
- 17:25Speaker 2: at all. Question for the topic is woodsmanship. This ten
- 17:30Speaker 2: letter word is defined as quote a trail with a

- 18:14Speaker 11: May and is all just like not not one of them.

- 18:29Speaker 2: is defined as a trail with a sharp zigzagging route

- 19:04Speaker 2: trails in Canyonlands National Park and the Columbia River Gorge
- 19:07Speaker 2: that featured dozens of switchbacks follow historical travel routes that
- 19:12Speaker 2: Native Americans used. First Question five, the topic is fishing.
- 19:17Speaker 2: This next great question is via Clayton Hines. This man,
- 19:22Speaker 2: who has hosted an ABC talk show since two thousand
- 19:25Speaker 2: and three, owns a luxury fly fishing lodge in Idaho.
- 19:32Speaker 4: Great.
- 19:33Speaker 2: The room is stumped. This man, who has hosted an
- 19:37Speaker 2: ABC talk show since two thousand and three, owns a
- 19:40Speaker 2: luxury fly fishing lodge in Idaho. This is question five.
- 19:45Speaker 2: We'll get a scoreboard update from Filled the engineer after this.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Spencer. I was at a wedding recently, and you know,
- 19:53Speaker 6: it was later in the nights. People had some drinks
- 19:56Speaker 6: and this guy walked up to me. I think he
- 19:58Speaker 6: finally like had the cur ridge to come talk to
- 20:01Speaker 6: me because he recognized me for meat eater. And you're

- 22:15Speaker 2: Tom Brokaw, Jake, Brian Gumbel. The correct answer is Jimmy
- 22:21Speaker 2: Kimmel and March got that one right.
- 22:28Speaker 11: I didn't notice.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Kimmel bought the South Fork Lodge near Swan Valley, Idaho,
- 22:33Speaker 2: in twenty twenty for an estimated eight million dollars. Their
- 22:37Speaker 2: website brags of quote, top notch service, unmatched amenities, and

- 22:53Speaker 2: twenty eighteen. He said he caught that cutthroat thirty miles
- 22:56Speaker 2: deep into Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana. That could have
- 22:59Speaker 2: been with you, Corey. It could have been you holding
- 23:01Speaker 2: that camera. Dink hm hm, Phil. Halfway through the game

- 23:27Speaker 9: Oh terrible?
- 23:29Speaker 4: Nobody calls a target panic.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Question six. The topic is conservation. The conservation group dedicated
- 23:40Speaker 2: to this eight hundred and forty three acre park calls it,
- 23:43Speaker 2: quote one of the most iconic green spaces in the world,
- 23:48Speaker 2: featuring a zoo, museum and carousel. Marge and Nate and

- 24:05Speaker 2: one of the most iconic green spaces in the world,
- 24:08Speaker 2: featuring a zoo, museum and carousel. Are we naming the
- 24:13Speaker 2: park or the park named the park, not the conservation.
- 24:17Speaker 2: That's why I was kind of Marge did that fan

- 24:23Speaker 9: You know, no, he must not be watching the show.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Yeah, just a listener.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Otherwise he would know the beautiful artwork you'd come up
- 24:29Speaker 2: with a chance.
- 24:31Speaker 4: It's a great opener.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Hi, nice to meet you meet.
- 24:36Speaker 4: It was straight the throat.
- 24:40Speaker 2: The conservation group dedicated to this eight hundred and forty
- 24:43Speaker 2: three acre park calls it one of the most iconic
- 24:46Speaker 2: green spaces in the world, featuring a zoo, museum and carousel.

- 24:55Speaker 2: We have been on a long drought here at meat
- 24:59Speaker 2: Eater trip for tiebreakers, but today could be the day. Okay,
- 25:05Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 25:07Speaker 8: I'm pretty confident.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Have you been to this place? Okay? Nate, do you
- 25:11Speaker 2: like your answer? Have you been to this March? Do
- 25:14Speaker 2: you like your answer? Have you been to this eight
- 25:17Speaker 2: hundred and forty three acre park? No, Okay, there's some
- 25:21Speaker 2: helping out the rest of the room. If you know
- 25:23Speaker 2: the travels of cad Nate and March. Is everybody ready
- 25:31Speaker 2: gonna wait for Sarah. Put that marker down and we'll
- 25:34Speaker 2: flip over the whiteboards. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Corey says Jurassic Park, Central Park, Part Sarah Lincoln Cad
- 25:49Speaker 2: Central Park, Marge, Central Park, Nate, Central Park, Jake Central Park.
- 25:55Speaker 2: The correct answer is Central Park.
- 25:58Speaker 4: That dark those two.
- 26:03Speaker 6: While people are surprised.
- 26:04Speaker 2: More than four thousand species of plants and animals called
- 26:08Speaker 2: Central Park home, including a new type of centipede that
- 26:11Speaker 2: was discovered there in two thousand and three. The park
- 26:14Speaker 2: allows catch and release fishing with rods that you can
- 26:17Speaker 2: rent for free at the Discovery Center. The only fish
- 26:19Speaker 2: you're not supposed to release is the northern snakehead, which
- 26:22Speaker 2: was first detected there in twenty thirteen. Question seven, the
- 26:27Speaker 2: topic is wildlife. Ricky Ticky Tavvy is this type of
- 26:31Speaker 2: animal which also happens to be a bicycle brand? Wait,
- 26:37Speaker 2: Ricky Ticky Tavy rick Tavvy is this type of animal,
- 26:43Speaker 2: so that this type of animal also happens to be
- 26:46Speaker 2: a bicycle brand. Kate, what were you doing in Central Park?
- 26:51Speaker 7: Uh?
- 26:51Speaker 8: Just see it taken in the grand sites of New
- 26:54Speaker 8: York City.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Just visit being a well rounded person.
- 26:57Speaker 8: That's right, Okay, I went to that toy store from
- 26:59Speaker 8: the movie bit.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Ricky Ticky Tabby is this type of animal which also
- 27:07Speaker 2: happens to be a bicycle brand. Does anybody know who
- 27:10Speaker 2: Ricky Ticky Tabby is? Yes? Okay, Sarah, do you have
- 27:14Speaker 2: this one right? Marge? Do you have this one right?
- 27:17Speaker 4: I got.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Nate now has got it. I think now you know
- 27:23Speaker 2: who Ricky Ticky Tabby.
- 27:24Speaker 5: No idea, but I pulled out a bicycle brand that
- 27:27Speaker 5: is an animal.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Okay, I think that's good.
- 27:32Speaker 8: I know.
- 27:33Speaker 6: Now I'm like, is this a Marge?
- 27:36Speaker 2: Are you using the clue about the bike brand or
- 27:39Speaker 2: Ricky Ticky Tabby the bike brand?
- 27:42Speaker 6: I know Ricky Ticky Tabby, I just can't picture.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Like a children's book. I'm not going to tell you
- 27:49Speaker 2: right now? Is this type of animal which also happens
- 27:55Speaker 2: to be a bicycle brand? My flavorite tech doesn't have
- 28:00Speaker 2: anything about Ricky Ticky Tabby, but I doesn't that Phil
- 28:04Speaker 2: could tell us all about.
- 28:05Speaker 9: Ricky Ticky Tell you a tiny bit.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Okay? Is everybody ready?
- 28:11Speaker 4: Does I have something to do with Halo?
- 28:13Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. Cory says, mongoose. I'll
- 28:18Speaker 2: listen without an answer. Sarah and Kaid and Marge and
- 28:22Speaker 2: Nate and Jake say Mongoose, they got it. The correct
- 28:25Speaker 2: answer is mongoose monkeys. Phil Please tell us about Ricky
- 28:30Speaker 2: Ticky tab Oh.
- 28:30Speaker 10: I don't know a lot about him, but he's I mean,
- 28:32Speaker 10: I think the character is like one hundred years old.
- 28:33Speaker 10: But it's a mongoose that was created by the same
- 28:36Speaker 10: guy he wrote the Jungle Book and is this from
- 28:38Speaker 10: a collection of short stories? But I couldn't tell you
- 28:40Speaker 10: anything about the stories or about Ricky Ticky Tabby.
- 28:43Speaker 2: There are about thirty species of mongoose that are found
- 28:46Speaker 2: across Africa, Asia, and Europe. They are most famous for
- 28:50Speaker 2: their audacious attacks on cobras, which they eat. Mongoose is
- 28:54Speaker 2: They're not entirely immune to snake venom, but they are
- 28:57Speaker 2: highly resistant to it. Question eight, what do you.
- 29:01Speaker 5: Got modified alterrained vehicles in the Halo series?
- 29:05Speaker 2: Okay, Bail, you certainly knew that one, all right, yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 2: mong guy. Question The topic is hunting. This next great
- 29:15Speaker 2: question is our Listener Question of the Week, which was
- 29:18Speaker 2: won by Truman Danielson for sending this great question. Truman
- 29:22Speaker 2: is going to get a one hundred and fifty dollars
- 29:24Speaker 2: First Slight gift card if you want a chance to
- 29:26Speaker 2: win the Listener Question of the Week. Then send your
- 29:27Speaker 2: question to Trivia at the meat Eater dot com. According
- 29:31Speaker 2: to hunter ed dot com, the five basic parts of
- 29:35Speaker 2: a shotgun shell are the case, pellets, blank, gunpowder, and primer.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Throwing a bone to a shotgun guy over there, Well,
- 29:47Speaker 5: Sarah's not too shabby over there.
- 29:48Speaker 4: She was done, but she also wasn't a professional shotgun shooter.
- 29:54Speaker 2: According to hunter ed dot com, the five basic parts
- 29:57Speaker 2: of a shotgun shell or the case, pellets, blank, gunpowder,
- 30:02Speaker 2: and primer.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Truman Danielson sounds like a rich guy already. You shouldn't
- 30:06Speaker 5: send him in the gift carden.
- 30:07Speaker 11: He sounds like someone that knows.
- 30:08Speaker 2: A whole lot of that's kind of an old one
- 30:11Speaker 2: of those fancy ones. And yeah, and then he's sending
- 30:13Speaker 2: us something that's you know, like skeet adjacent. Also, yeah, okay, Truman,
- 30:19Speaker 2: I have two of them. Yeah, but they came through him.
- 30:23Speaker 4: But that guy fish is.
- 30:26Speaker 10: Jake is your first time And I'm sorry I have
- 30:27Speaker 10: to tell you this on camera, but you get your
- 30:29Speaker 10: cell phone right under the mic there and we're getting
- 30:31Speaker 10: some interference.
- 30:32Speaker 8: Sorry.
- 30:33Speaker 2: The first time it happens, it's just a warning. The
- 30:35Speaker 2: second time you get fired. Take away one point well.
- 30:41Speaker 6: Years ago.
- 30:43Speaker 2: According to huntered dot com, the five base shotgun are
- 30:48Speaker 2: the case, pellets, blank, gunpowder, and primer.
- 30:53Speaker 10: Nate, are you aware that in a week the remastered
- 30:57Speaker 10: Halo campaign comes out?
- 30:59Speaker 7: There?
- 30:59Speaker 10: They remade the first Halo with all new graphics and
- 31:01Speaker 10: modern stuff.
- 31:02Speaker 4: I had no idea.
- 31:03Speaker 9: Are we gonna play a legendary run together?
- 31:05Speaker 4: I would love to, I have it. I've been Battlefield.
- 31:07Speaker 4: What was the most recent on six?
- 31:09Speaker 7: Which is it?
- 31:10Speaker 5: Got me so close to buying I've impulse bought three
- 31:14Speaker 5: video game systems in my life, and I almost did
- 31:16Speaker 5: it a fourth time.
- 31:17Speaker 2: I recently got served a video of the Halo like
- 31:21Speaker 2: sound effects. Guys making those sound effects back in the day,
- 31:24Speaker 2: and the the war Hog was just like the one
- 31:27Speaker 2: guy's Honda Civic. They had a bad muffler on it,
- 31:29Speaker 2: and they're like, yeah, that sounds kind of like, you know,
- 31:32Speaker 2: a badass vehicle from another planet? Running riot? Does everybody
- 31:39Speaker 2: have an answer for the five basic parts of the
- 31:41Speaker 2: shock case, Pellett's blank, gunpowder, primer? Go ahead and reveal
- 31:47Speaker 2: your answers. Corey says, wa alyssa steal, Sarah and Cade
- 31:53Speaker 2: and Marge and Nate and Jake say.
- 31:56Speaker 6: What on the episode.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I know the answer is wad. The wad separates the
- 32:03Speaker 2: shot from the powder. The job of the wad is
- 32:06Speaker 2: to create a gas seal to propel the shot down
- 32:08Speaker 2: the barrel, protect the inside of the barrel from damage,
- 32:11Speaker 2: and shape the shot pattern after leaving the muzzle. The
- 32:14Speaker 2: vast majority of wads are made of plastic, but traditional
- 32:17Speaker 2: materials include fiber, felt paper, and cardboard.
- 32:21Speaker 4: It's the most important.
- 32:23Speaker 2: It did our modern one. Yes, I had a pretty
- 32:26Speaker 2: traditional wad in it, but we had found out that,
- 32:29Speaker 2: like the og shell that it came with, that wad
- 32:32Speaker 2: was probably made of cardboard, which is a little terrifying
- 32:34Speaker 2: because holding one of those things is like a stick
- 32:37Speaker 2: of dynamite in your hand, and that their cardboard is inside.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Like doing a very important job.
- 32:41Speaker 6: I mean, the first time we fired that thing, I
- 32:43Speaker 6: think we all like stood very far away.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Then we got brave. All right, Well, we got two
- 32:49Speaker 2: questions left. Give us a scoreboard update. Oh, that looks
- 32:53Speaker 2: like overtime.
- 32:54Speaker 9: We'll see.
- 32:57Speaker 10: Alissa with two, Sarah has three four way tie for
- 33:01Speaker 10: I guess second, I don't, I don't know. I've messed
- 33:04Speaker 10: up all the time. Cory Caide Maggie and Nate all
- 33:07Speaker 10: have five points, and then Jake is one point ahead
- 33:09Speaker 10: with six.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Maybe after all that on me, Spencer put that on me.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Question nine, the topic is fishing. Who wrote moby Dick? Oh, fish,
- 33:27Speaker 2: looks like Nate could tie him up?
- 33:28Speaker 4: Here?
- 33:29Speaker 2: Ayo, who wrote moby Dick? Big reader, It's just a
- 33:33Speaker 2: last name. Okay, last name will work. I respect the
- 33:38Speaker 2: jeopardy rules if you can come up with the last name.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Saw my shelf is the one I'm reading next.
- 33:45Speaker 2: I have. I have not read this book, but I
- 33:48Speaker 2: looked at the audio book and it's like twenty four
- 33:50Speaker 2: hours long. My goodness. Who wrote moby Dick? Sarah, you
- 33:58Speaker 2: got the last name of this person?
- 33:59Speaker 4: I think so?
- 34:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I could have arable three? Uh tie. Going into
- 34:06Speaker 2: question ten, bad language. Has anybody read this book?
- 34:16Speaker 4: No, read a few chapters.
- 34:19Speaker 2: It's terrible, and then stopped.
- 34:20Speaker 9: Yeah, it's a long one.
- 34:23Speaker 11: Well that was enough of that.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Who wrote moby Dick?
- 34:27Speaker 6: That's how I felt about the Audist.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Fishing, one of the most famous fishing books of all time.
- 34:32Speaker 6: Yea in the Aliad, I was like, I think, is.
- 34:35Speaker 5: A moby Dick a whale?
- 34:36Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 34:37Speaker 4: Are we fishing?
- 34:38Speaker 2: I mean they used to fish. Fish for it, They're
- 34:40Speaker 2: not fish.
- 34:41Speaker 8: It's whaling.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Like you there, you go talk about fishing after this.
- 34:49Speaker 4: I'm just excited to get.
- 34:50Speaker 9: About what type of whale?
- 34:51Speaker 2: Double stop double double points aren't going to points aren't
- 34:57Speaker 2: gonna happen?
- 34:59Speaker 4: Man, I got a Halo reference and a reference in
- 35:02Speaker 4: this episode.
- 35:04Speaker 2: It's everybody ready, it's gonna be so upsetting. Go ahead
- 35:08Speaker 2: and reveal your answers. Corey says williams Alyssa without an answer,
- 35:13Speaker 2: Sarah says Melville, Cade Dickens, Marge Hemingway, Nate Herman Melville,
- 35:20Speaker 2: and Jake says Dickinson. The correct answer is Herman Melville,
- 35:25Speaker 2: Heyoby for there, Yeah. Herman Melville wrote Moby Dick in
- 35:33Speaker 2: eighteen fifty one. The book took him eighteen months to complete.
- 35:37Speaker 2: He relied on his experience as a sailor and whaler,
- 35:40Speaker 2: of which he spent three years doing. Melville said his
- 35:44Speaker 2: literary influences were Shakespeare and the Bible, and that Moby
- 35:48Speaker 2: Dick's ending is based on the real life whaleship Essex. Right,
- 35:52Speaker 2: here's a correct answer. Review so far one was botulism
- 35:56Speaker 2: two target panic three November four, switchback five Jimmy Kimmel six,
- 36:02Speaker 2: Central Park seven, Mongoose eight, Wad nine Herman Melville phil
- 36:08Speaker 2: scoreboard update.
- 36:10Speaker 10: Mr Nate busted out the library card and tied it up.
- 36:15Speaker 9: He's tied up with Jake.
- 36:16Speaker 10: They both have six points behind them are Maggie, Kid
- 36:20Speaker 10: and Corey with five?
- 36:22Speaker 2: Here is question ten. The topic is natural history great.
- 36:26Speaker 2: This ten letter word is defined as quote, a hard
- 36:30Speaker 2: fired clay brownish red in color when unglazed, that is
- 36:34Speaker 2: used for pottery and as a material for sculpture. Sarah,
