- Shaun: Back, I am Sean Tucker, human performance scientist and authority architect. We are here in the Living Lab documenting the science, the struggle, and the shift for every high performance dad and founder who is ready to bridge the gap between their ambition and their presence. Today I'm going to read a quote from the great Alan Watts, and it is a long one, but I promise you it is very good to the point where maybe your perspective on your life will shift. Are you ready? Let's go. If you awaken from this illusion and you understand that black implies white, self implies other, life implies death. Or shall I say death implies life? You can feel yourself not as a stranger in the world, not as something here on probation, not as something that has arrived here by fluke, but you can begin to feel your own existence is absolutely fundamental. I'm not trying to sell you on this idea in the sense of converting you to it. I want you to play with it. I want you to think of its possibilities. I'm not trying to prove it. I'm just putting it forward as a possibility of life to think about. So then let's suppose that you were able to that you were able every night to dream any dream you wanted to dream. And that you could, for example, have the power within one night to dream seventy five years of time, or any length of time you wanted to have. And you would, naturally, as you began on this adventure of dreams, you would fulfill all your wishes. You would have all every single kind of pleasure you could conceive. And after several nights of seventy five years of total pleasure each, you would say, Well, that was pretty great. But now let's have a surprise. Let's have a dream which isn't under control. Where something is gonna happen to me and I don't know what it is gonna be. And you would dig and you would dig that and would come out of that and you would say, Wow, that was a close shave, wasn't it? Then you would get more and more adventurous and you would make further and further out gambles what you would dream. And finally you would dream where you are now. You would dream the dream of living the life that you are actually living today. That would be within the infinite multiplicity of choices you would have, of playing that you weren't God, because the whole nature of the Godhead, according to this idea, is to play that he is not. So is so in this idea then, everybody is fundamentally the ultimate reality. Not God in a politically kingly sense, but God in the sense of being the self, the deep down basic whatever there is. And you are all that only you are pretending that you are not. So imagine that. You are living that right now. Every little surprise, every little challenge, every little triumph This is you playing a game where you don't know what's gonna happen next. And as you sit there, you have the choice. You sit in the passenger seat and you let it happen to you, or you take control of the steering wheel. And you respond. And this road is not any road. This is the road known as life. And you are a player in this life. You are this life. What is so interesting about it is the character you play, depending on the level at which you want to play, be it fully involved or partially involved, that is all your choice. You are the conscious creator of your life. This is both liberating and also requires a a large level of responsibility. And I'm not talking about social responsibility that you have this body, you have your children, you have your wife to take care of. No, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking it's your ability to respond. So everything is your responsibility. No matter what's happening in the world, no matter what's happening inside of you, you are responding either unconsciously or you're responding consciously. So when those surprises come along, when those triumphs come along, Do you allow yourself to respond consciously? Or is it that you don't? Do you choose to respond? Or does it become too much for you? There's no right or wrong way to play the game. There's only how much of the game are you really playing? That becomes the question. If you're fully involved, it means you're one hundred percent playing the game. If you're not fully involved, it means you're not playing one hundred percent. You're not all in. You're the only one with the controller. So that brings us to the end of this episode of the reset. If you found this style of this episode helpful or if you want to see more of these kind of episodes in the future, make sure you let me know in the comment section. And also, if you want to stop being a passenger in your own life and start being the architect of your legacy, make sure you comment the word reset and I'll send you the seven day integrity reset. Remember that most people wait for their life to change. We are the ones who architect our choices. Change your state, choose how you show up. I am Sean Tucker, I will see you in the next one.
