- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, the podcast part of the Volume Network.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We're back with another Thursday Thunderdome addition where guests compete
- 0:20Speaker 1: alongside my co host, Professional Sports better Simon Hunter, who
- 0:26Speaker 1: I will no doubt be rooting for and tipping the
- 0:29Speaker 1: scales because he is my companion, my bff. This is
- 0:34Speaker 1: an epic test of mental fortitude that makes West Point
- 0:39Speaker 1: look like Arizona State. Simon, how are you, buddy? I'm
- 0:44Speaker 1: good man. I'm I went three in this contest. So
- 0:46Speaker 1: as much as you've tried to cheat and help me out,
- 0:48Speaker 1: I'm Everyone can know I'm terrible at this, but we're
- 0:51Speaker 1: back again. I know I got two really smart women
- 0:53Speaker 1: here who are probably gonna dominate me, but I don't know.
- 0:56Speaker 1: It's it's a little bit of lux. Hopefully Chat skews
- 0:58Speaker 1: a little my way so I can be to get
- 1:00Speaker 1: a w Finally, you're listen. You're not bad at this.
- 1:03Speaker 1: You're actually incredibly thoughtful and creative, and you have found
- 1:06Speaker 1: the best angles in on a lot of the answers.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Challenge for you has been and maybe you'll learn you
- 1:12Speaker 1: tend to as is your want given a given the
- 1:16Speaker 1: fact your professional gambler you tend to go all in
- 1:18Speaker 1: on the last question and bet everything and then always
- 1:21Speaker 1: lose the last question. But today you are facing two
- 1:25Speaker 1: guest challengers. Our first guest a long time w w
- 1:30Speaker 1: E personality, the host of the Ordal Sessions podcast on
- 1:33Speaker 1: the Volume Network. Our friend and colleague, the most effervescent
- 1:38Speaker 1: Canadian ever found in the city of Las Vegas, Renee Piquett. Wow.
- 1:43Speaker 1: First of all, great use of the word effervescent. Hell, yes,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I will take that. I'm really excited to be here
- 1:50Speaker 1: with you guys today. UM. I will preface this by
- 1:53Speaker 1: saying that I am on a back to back losing
- 1:55Speaker 1: streak on my bets that I've been placing on the
- 1:57Speaker 1: Action Network because I'm a homer and I keep just
- 2:01Speaker 1: putting money on the Golden Nights and they lost to
- 2:04Speaker 1: the Blues. Last night. They lost to the Blues. I
- 2:08Speaker 1: thought that was a surefire bet, and now here I
- 2:10Speaker 1: am licking my wounds with these losers. They can't get
- 2:14Speaker 1: their shipped together. I don't think you'll find anybody else
- 2:17Speaker 1: other than people of the Action Network who know how
- 2:19Speaker 1: miserable betting hockey really is. You you have found your people.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Our second guest is Fox sports personality, writer video or tweeter,
- 2:31Speaker 1: host of The People's Sports Podcast. Somehow she is friends
- 2:35Speaker 1: with every single person I like the most in all
- 2:37Speaker 1: of media. She has refused to apologize for shoplifting from
- 2:41Speaker 1: The Bath and Body Works in two thousand one. Charlotte Wilder,
- 2:44Speaker 1: I am just really flattered. I think that having um
- 2:47Speaker 1: tweeter in your bio is like the most humbling thing
- 2:51Speaker 1: that can happen to a person. For the record, I
- 2:54Speaker 1: add live that solid improv. That was because I'm in
- 2:58Speaker 1: a piggyback on that. Because Charlotte, you got a killer
- 3:01Speaker 1: Twitter game, got a lot of your tweets. I just
- 3:04Speaker 1: hit that heart button often. I've got to tell you, Renee,
- 3:06Speaker 1: there are certain people who when when they like my tweets,
- 3:09Speaker 1: I'm I immediately feel comforted and I'm like, oh, okay,
- 3:13Speaker 1: that one can have been trash if Rene liked it,
- 3:15Speaker 1: because being like an anxious person whose job is to
- 3:19Speaker 1: um sort of publicly be an idiot on the Internet
- 3:22Speaker 1: is like it's like being definitely afraid of snakes, but
- 3:25Speaker 1: owning a snake store and you just go into work
- 3:27Speaker 1: every day and you're like, okay, here we gone like
- 3:30Speaker 1: you know, a little bit of help from your fellow
- 3:32Speaker 1: handlers is um is always encouraged, So that is that's
- 3:35Speaker 1: very high praise and just popping out of it and
- 3:38Speaker 1: let those Twitter fingers go after it. You'll be fine.
- 3:41Speaker 1: All right. Here's how our game is played today. The
- 3:44Speaker 1: three of you will answer two kinds of questions. First
- 3:48Speaker 1: is the traditional trivia questions about sports, sports betting the
- 3:52Speaker 1: world at large, but also secondarily a completely subjective and
- 3:57Speaker 1: totally asinine, open and did prompt that I alone will
- 4:02Speaker 1: judge and in all likelihood try to make sure Simon
- 4:06Speaker 1: Hunter wins. To accumulate points, you must answer the trivia
- 4:10Speaker 1: questions correctly and also convince me that your responses to
- 4:14Speaker 1: those open ended prompts are better than your opponents, because
- 4:19Speaker 1: just like sports betting, you can't get them. All right.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I really appreciate how upfront you're being about the favoritism here.
- 4:26Speaker 1: That is the best way to approach things, to be like,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I am going to try to rig this and I
- 4:31Speaker 1: just want you guys all to know honestly, I'm kind
- 4:34Speaker 1: of swaying it towards Simon as well. I mean, we
- 4:37Speaker 1: all want the best first signing. I'm like the I'm
- 4:39Speaker 1: the wounded puppy. Right now, I feel so wounded. So
- 4:42Speaker 1: you guys are so sweet. Thank you. You know what
- 4:45Speaker 1: that was? You kind of buttered us up before we started.
- 4:47Speaker 1: We all came in here feeling bad for you. After that,
- 4:50Speaker 1: Let's break his ass over the cold. That was a
- 4:53Speaker 1: real hell turner. All right, here we go first part
- 4:58Speaker 1: of our journey called mastering the Masters. This weekend features
- 5:03Speaker 1: two of the greatest spectacles on the American sports calendar.
- 5:06Speaker 1: In Tampa, we've got WrestleMania thirty seven, and in Augusta, Georgia,
- 5:11Speaker 1: we have the Masters, often referred to as the wrestle
- 5:15Speaker 1: Mania of golf. For now, let's stick with the golf, Charlotte.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Our first question is for you. The Masters began in
- 5:23Speaker 1: nineteen thirty four, but they didn't give winners green jackets
- 5:27Speaker 1: for fifteen years till Ninette. That same weekend in Ninette
- 5:35Speaker 1: was also the first time one of these was broadcast
- 5:39Speaker 1: on television. It was hosted by Uncle Milty Milton Borough
- 5:43Speaker 1: and benefit a cancer research fund. What kind of show
- 5:49Speaker 1: was it? Okay, well, it wasn't a podcast. I know
- 5:53Speaker 1: that much um process of elimination. Here, I'm gonna say
- 5:58Speaker 1: it was a variety show. That's incorrect. It was a
- 6:04Speaker 1: tele telephone that I was going to say, Well, you
- 6:08Speaker 1: should have gone with that one. In this game, I
- 6:10Speaker 1: will say, it's always better not to trust your instincts.
- 6:13Speaker 1: How can you make money off a variety show? You
- 6:15Speaker 1: can't really write? Was really a silly, really bad Okay,
- 6:20Speaker 1: good humble me from the beginning. That's good Simon. At
- 6:23Speaker 1: a hundred to one odds two thousand nine Masters winner
- 6:28Speaker 1: fell Cabrera was one of the biggest long shots in
- 6:31Speaker 1: tournament history. He is also the only Master champion from
- 6:35Speaker 1: this South American country by size, the largest Spanish speaking
- 6:41Speaker 1: country in the world. K So this is a trick question.
- 6:44Speaker 1: This is why I hate you, Chad. I guess Argentina. Argentina. Yes,
- 6:53Speaker 1: I'm in you got it. Good on you for recognizing
- 6:57Speaker 1: the Brazil The native language is Portuguese. Al Right, Renee,
- 7:02Speaker 1: you're up, of course. This is this is right up
- 7:05Speaker 1: your alley. Of course. At the Masters is becoming longer
- 7:08Speaker 1: and longer. This year it will play at a lengthy
- 7:12Speaker 1: seven thousand, four hundred and seventy five yards. Matt Mitchell.
- 7:17Speaker 1: This is also the exact distance between two casinos on
- 7:22Speaker 1: opposite ends of the Las Vegas strip. The Strat hotel
- 7:27Speaker 1: and casino on the north end, and this casino on
- 7:31Speaker 1: the south end named after a Rudyard Kipling poem, um
- 7:40Speaker 1: very close to the airport, and GM Mandalay Bay mandalais
- 7:45Speaker 1: based son of a damn Damn Damn. DM doesn't apply
- 7:50Speaker 1: to that. I was just trying to think logistically of
- 7:52Speaker 1: the strip of what is near the end, and I
- 7:54Speaker 1: picked MGM. Of course it's Mandalais Bay wowsers the MGMO
- 8:00Speaker 1: and for us, I would love to hear that there
- 8:02Speaker 1: must be one that exists, some kind of anagram, poem
- 8:05Speaker 1: or something. I don't know, but yeah, well, okay, I
- 8:09Speaker 1: was told there'd be no math on this podcast, so
- 8:12Speaker 1: there's always a chance something strange is going to pop up.
- 8:15Speaker 1: When Matt Mitchell is sitting in his basement in Milwaukee
- 8:19Speaker 1: with no lights kind of figure out what questions he
- 8:22Speaker 1: is going to answer and ignoring the children under five
- 8:27Speaker 1: in his house so he can do his best to
- 8:29Speaker 1: serve this podcast. Oh that was smoothing. Are we ready
- 8:34Speaker 1: for the next section. The Master's iconic green jacket is
- 8:37Speaker 1: a beloved tradition, as the previous Masters winner places one
- 8:41Speaker 1: on the new champion, but fans demand more clothing based
- 8:46Speaker 1: sports traditions. Choose another sporting event and article of clothing
- 8:51Speaker 1: and pitch me on a new beloved spectacle. For example,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I'd like to see the previous day Tone of five
- 8:57Speaker 1: winner helped the new champion slip on his pair of
- 9:01Speaker 1: Daytona Diamond shorts Jean shorts with the winners car number
- 9:07Speaker 1: be dazzled onto the back pockets. Simon, this is where
- 9:11Speaker 1: you usually thrive, and right now you've got to lead.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Let's see what you can do to separate yourself now,
- 9:19Speaker 1: you know, I like to go outside the box, so
- 9:20Speaker 1: of course I kind of ignore Man Mitchell's requirements. I
- 9:24Speaker 1: thought to myself, what what would be great for hockey
- 9:27Speaker 1: and the guys grow their hair out all playoffs. I
- 9:30Speaker 1: would love if the winners got now, I looked it up.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I want to make sure because I know there might
- 9:34Speaker 1: be a double meeting. A Canadian tuxedo. Get a mullet
- 9:37Speaker 1: for the winners, so the guys all have to do
- 9:39Speaker 1: their hair in mullets after they win the championship. But
- 9:41Speaker 1: I don't want to say Canadian tuxedo because I looked
- 9:43Speaker 1: it up and there is another meeting for it. So
- 9:45Speaker 1: it's like, I can't really use it here, but give
- 9:47Speaker 1: it some some name other than mullet for the champions
- 9:50Speaker 1: of the n HL stanlet top something that some a
- 9:52Speaker 1: little flare for the end of the day. You're saying
- 9:55Speaker 1: you want the Stanley Cup champions to get mullets. Yeah,
- 9:59Speaker 1: I mean I think that's kind of standard fair already.
- 10:02Speaker 1: That is a fucking terrible answer, Simon normally nail these things.
- 10:07Speaker 1: This was the most unimaginative boring down there, possibly already existing.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I can only chut this up to heartache and despair
- 10:17Speaker 1: and the fact that you are not focus on anything else. Renee,
- 10:21Speaker 1: and don't be switched. The Canadian tuxedo, by the way,
- 10:24Speaker 1: it's a hell of a look and I highly encourage it. Guys.
- 10:27Speaker 1: An actual Canadian tuxedo is denom on denim. It has
- 10:30Speaker 1: absolutely nothing to do with the mullet. It is a
- 10:32Speaker 1: full denom get up. I thought it was denim denom
- 10:35Speaker 1: with a mullet. No, it's just it's it's just a
- 10:37Speaker 1: denom on denim is a Canadian tuxedo. A mullet is
- 10:40Speaker 1: just an added bonus. I'm British. Please don't judge me. Hey,
- 10:43Speaker 1: it's okay, I mean common you are to be a
- 10:45Speaker 1: little bit more in the bandwagon. I'm full on British.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I could sit here for this whole episode and talk
- 10:49Speaker 1: like this if you guys want to. But I think
- 10:51Speaker 1: Chad gets a little jealous if I talk like this,
- 10:53Speaker 1: because everyone just wants to hearing me talk and not
- 10:55Speaker 1: hear Chad talk. So if I talk this for the
- 10:57Speaker 1: whole show, people are going to be pretty pretty thrown
- 11:00Speaker 1: enough about it. Shut the funk up signon partie track.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Oh you're like, you're like sexy meter just shot through
- 11:07Speaker 1: the roof, Simon, keep it up. I know I do
- 11:10Speaker 1: it at bars and as soon as I get a
- 11:12Speaker 1: little drunk, I slip up there like what the hell?
- 11:14Speaker 1: I'm just like, Oh, don't marry about that nothing. I'm
- 11:19Speaker 1: a big fan of the mullet. How do you hate that?
- 11:21Speaker 1: Answer that? Have you ever seen twenty mullets skating on
- 11:23Speaker 1: the ice together? Chat? It's a Canada, you see a
- 11:28Speaker 1: lot of things be it's not original, and I feel
- 11:30Speaker 1: like a mullet in hockey has been the cliche since Slapstick.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I just want to say that recently, um Miley Cyrus
- 11:38Speaker 1: had a mullet when she performed at the n C
- 11:41Speaker 1: Double A Tournament, and I loved it. And then my
- 11:44Speaker 1: friend asked, Jessica Smittana was like, you you're gonna need
- 11:47Speaker 1: to have a mullet before you die. And I was like,
- 11:49Speaker 1: oh my god, that is so true. That would be
- 11:52Speaker 1: I feel that would be like my final form of
- 11:54Speaker 1: dirt bag Wilder. So about this very hot fashion Charlotte,
- 11:59Speaker 1: will you commit right now? If you don't win the
- 12:02Speaker 1: Thursday Thunderdome, the punishment is you're going mullet? Absolutely not.
- 12:08Speaker 1: You could pay me a lot of money and I'd
- 12:10Speaker 1: get a mullet, but I'm not. I'm not doing that
- 12:12Speaker 1: because I lost something. What would it take in cash
- 12:17Speaker 1: for you to get a mullet? I do it for
- 12:19Speaker 1: six Oh. I feel like we can raise that. I mean,
- 12:24Speaker 1: I was gonna say a million, but like if someone
- 12:27Speaker 1: was like, hey, you can have six hundred fifty grand
- 12:29Speaker 1: if you that's where my that's where my threshold went.
- 12:32Speaker 1: You know. I was like, if someone said, here's this money,
- 12:33Speaker 1: but you have to cut your hair. If it was
- 12:35Speaker 1: less than that, I'd be like, I really don't know
- 12:37Speaker 1: that I can do that. But that's sort of a
- 12:39Speaker 1: number where I'd be like, I could do a lot
- 12:40Speaker 1: with this. I think you're under selling. I think you
- 12:43Speaker 1: should go for the million, but I still feel like
- 12:46Speaker 1: we could probably find a way to raise that either through.
- 12:49Speaker 1: If someone wants to get me that much money, I'll
- 12:52Speaker 1: do it. Simon's rich, He'll He'll give it to you. Renee,
- 12:56Speaker 1: it's your turn. Please please come up with a better
- 12:59Speaker 1: answer than give a hockey player and mullet. Of course,
- 13:02Speaker 1: my my answer is much better than that. Um. I
- 13:04Speaker 1: I wrote down two different answers on this that I
- 13:07Speaker 1: was kind of like leaning towards. But I'm gonna go
- 13:09Speaker 1: with my gut instinct on this and I'm gonna go
- 13:11Speaker 1: figure skating. Um you know, I come from the world
- 13:14Speaker 1: of w W. I appreciate the pageantry, the flare, uh
- 13:19Speaker 1: the showmanship that comes with with figure skating, and I
- 13:22Speaker 1: think that they should be bestowed a bedazzled razzle jazzle
- 13:28Speaker 1: skating boot after winning their performance. Also to go with
- 13:32Speaker 1: that is a tassel jacket, because I think you can
- 13:36Speaker 1: never have enough tassels, never enough sequence. If I've learned
- 13:39Speaker 1: one thing during my time with w W is always
- 13:42Speaker 1: go with the sequence. So I think a bedazzled figure
- 13:46Speaker 1: skate to then be able to perform all of the
- 13:49Speaker 1: rest of the year in is the move the rest
- 13:52Speaker 1: of the year. Okay, you you wear it for the
- 13:54Speaker 1: rest of the year. Like that means like you are
- 13:56Speaker 1: the top tier, You've achieved all accomplishment, You've got the fancy.
- 14:01Speaker 1: But because a lot of time you just see like
- 14:02Speaker 1: the white skate, a black skate, sometimes their tights are
- 14:05Speaker 1: pulled over the skate. I don't want that. I want
- 14:08Speaker 1: more showmanship and pageantry, and figure skating knows how to
- 14:11Speaker 1: do that. So I think it's time that they step
- 14:13Speaker 1: it up. I like the addition of a jacket. I
- 14:16Speaker 1: think that really rounds out the ensemble at the very
- 14:19Speaker 1: least better than what Simon did. I mean, it'll look nice.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Arenas are cold, you need an extra jacket. Let's give
- 14:25Speaker 1: them another layer. Because they're often out there in very
- 14:27Speaker 1: minimal outfits. So uh yeah, jacket is very welcomed. Well
- 14:32Speaker 1: as someone who is off in chilly, I can appreciate that. Charlotte,
- 14:35Speaker 1: what would you like to say here? So I was
- 14:37Speaker 1: saying about this, and I was like, what would be
- 14:39Speaker 1: the funniest possible situation, which is sort of how I
- 14:42Speaker 1: generally approach my life. And I was like, you know,
- 14:46Speaker 1: I think it would be fantastic if the America's Cup
- 14:49Speaker 1: winner from the previous America's Cup had to put a
- 14:53Speaker 1: full on a khaki suit, like a full and khaki
- 14:56Speaker 1: suit with tiny little embroidered anchors on it and boat
- 14:59Speaker 1: shoes the next year's winner. It's sort of humiliating, but
- 15:03Speaker 1: also you just won, so it's it's like a it's
- 15:05Speaker 1: the worst possible outfit and also very fitting because come on,
- 15:10Speaker 1: you know, you guys are sailing. Can I uh compel
- 15:14Speaker 1: you to up the antie and say that this person
- 15:17Speaker 1: then has to wear that suit for a week straight.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And anytime they introduced themselves, say you could put like
- 15:25Speaker 1: a Caddie Shack quote in there, like they have to
- 15:27Speaker 1: every time they walk into a room, they have to
- 15:29Speaker 1: say like spald and get your foot off the boat,
- 15:31Speaker 1: or you know, something like really that makes no sense.
- 15:34Speaker 1: So so people are sort of thrown off and then
- 15:36Speaker 1: they can't explain it. They can't tell anyone why they're
- 15:38Speaker 1: wearing this khaki embroidered suit, but they just have to
- 15:42Speaker 1: roll with it. Listen, nobody loves bedazzled extra outerwear more
- 15:47Speaker 1: than me. But I do feel like Charlotte, you just
- 15:50Speaker 1: won that round with what could be just comically funny
- 15:54Speaker 1: experiences where a sailor has to walk in anywhere and
- 15:58Speaker 1: be spouting off some things silly while wearing a full
- 16:02Speaker 1: on sailor suit. That this is unfair. I would like
- 16:05Speaker 1: to because I feel like Charlotte got an insist on
- 16:08Speaker 1: that you really jumped in and completed the answer. Up
- 16:13Speaker 1: the answer, but then I let her win based on
- 16:15Speaker 1: the answer I gave her. Okay, wins a win? All right?
- 16:19Speaker 1: Part two, Let's make an entrance. As I mentioned before,
- 16:23Speaker 1: WrestleMania thirty seven is this weekend, and I should mention,
- 16:27Speaker 1: by the way, if you have not listened, our friend
- 16:29Speaker 1: cow Heard did a podcast with Nick Kahn, the president
- 16:33Speaker 1: of w w E. It was amazing and so fun
- 16:37Speaker 1: and such a great insight into media and life and
- 16:40Speaker 1: culture at w w E. Highly highly recommended. Um it
- 16:45Speaker 1: is this weekend in WrestleMania thirty seven. One of my
- 16:47Speaker 1: favorite parts about pro wrestling is the entrance music, So
- 16:50Speaker 1: let's talk about it. Charlotte. Platinum record producer and guitarist
- 16:54Speaker 1: Rick Derringer was the producer behind Real American legendary and
- 17:00Speaker 1: music of Hoke Hogan. I am a real American. Fight
- 17:07Speaker 1: the right, so every man. I am a Realmmerican what's right?
- 17:20Speaker 1: But Derringer was also a founding member of the McCoys,
- 17:25Speaker 1: whose number one hit in n became one of the
- 17:30Speaker 1: most indelible oldies of all time. The name of that
- 17:34Speaker 1: song was and I'll give you a little bit of
- 17:36Speaker 1: a hint, heng on, hang on blank? What's the next word?
- 17:45Speaker 1: I will give you a hint. Oftentimes it is confused
- 17:50Speaker 1: with the name of a very famous cartoon dog, hang
- 17:56Speaker 1: On Lucy. The name of the dog is be What
- 18:01Speaker 1: name would rhyme with snoopy sloopy sid? What the heck?
- 18:10Speaker 1: Hang on sloopy home? That's his song? Did you know that? No,
- 18:14Speaker 1: of course not. I don't think anybody knew that. Sloopy,
- 18:20Speaker 1: sloopy hang on. What a bad song that is. I'm
- 18:24Speaker 1: like mad about that. Simon Invasion was the title of
- 18:30Speaker 1: Bill Goldberg's entrance music. But before he was a celebrated wrestler,
- 18:35Speaker 1: he was a star defensive lineman for this SEC football
- 18:38Speaker 1: team who play their home games at Sanford Stadium. No idea,
- 18:43Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go with let me give you a hint.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Like the question before, it does live in the canine space.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I think I know it because I've been there, because
- 18:54Speaker 1: I know the Bulldogs played like Athens. But it Georgia.
- 18:58Speaker 1: It's Georgia. You're right. But we're also going to give
- 19:00Speaker 1: half a point to Charlotte because she knew the answer
- 19:03Speaker 1: because she's been there, went to the Notre Dame Georgia game. Thanks,
- 19:06Speaker 1: that's really kind of your chat. I have a bulldog
- 19:09Speaker 1: in this room with me. Can I have half a
- 19:10Speaker 1: point for that? Yes, you can, thank you. Would you
- 19:13Speaker 1: like to see him? Yes? Oh? What's his name? Blue?
- 19:20Speaker 1: He is the star of the family. He's a good guy.
- 19:23Speaker 1: You know what. Everyone's getting a point for that. Everyone
- 19:25Speaker 1: gets a point. Renee. The theme song of this two
- 19:29Speaker 1: thousand ten w w E Hall of Famer is a
- 19:32Speaker 1: favorite among sports gamblers. He name checks himself in the
- 19:37Speaker 1: lyrics with the line everybody's got a price, everybody's gonna
- 19:41Speaker 1: pay because Blank always gets his way. Million dollar man, everybody,
- 19:55Speaker 1: everybody is gonna pay million dollars always there we go. Wow,
- 20:10Speaker 1: that is a huge, huge round for Renee, racking up
- 20:15Speaker 1: two points. Shout out to my dog. I needed that
- 20:18Speaker 1: all right. Part two here's the prompt, Ring Ring Ring.
- 20:21Speaker 1: You're getting a call on the old fashioned rotary telephone
- 20:25Speaker 1: in your kitchen. It's w w E Boss Vince McMahon.
- 20:29Speaker 1: He's decided to make you a rich and famous professional
- 20:32Speaker 1: wrestler if and only if you can select the worst
- 20:36Speaker 1: entrance music in wrestling history. What do you choose? For example,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I can sing it for you if ever You're in
- 20:47Speaker 1: My Arms again by p Bo Bryson would make for
- 20:52Speaker 1: terrible entrance music. I'm getting the sense that this podcast
- 20:56Speaker 1: is just Chad's little karaoke fix because you can't go
- 21:00Speaker 1: to karaoke bars at the moment. I love karaoke to
- 21:04Speaker 1: so bad at it that a bartender at a bar
- 21:07Speaker 1: once asked someone in my group to ask me not
- 21:09Speaker 1: to do it anymore. Wow, what are like your go
- 21:14Speaker 1: to songs? Well, you know what, I happen to have
- 21:17Speaker 1: a list. I call it karaoke. Go to Living on
- 21:21Speaker 1: a Prayer, Don't Stop Believing xs and os It's the
- 21:25Speaker 1: End of the World by r M, which is incredibly
- 21:27Speaker 1: hard to do. Call me maybe Canadian singer Friends in
- 21:32Speaker 1: low Places. Everybody was kung fu fighting. I want to
- 21:36Speaker 1: be sedated islands in the stream. I can get behind
- 21:39Speaker 1: one by the way, don't don't you forget about me,
- 21:43Speaker 1: you know, from the Breakfast Club. And then Miles I
- 21:48Speaker 1: need Renee. They give me the worst entrance song of
- 21:50Speaker 1: all the time. Okay. So I put a lot of
- 21:52Speaker 1: thought into this, and it's hard because, like, you know,
- 21:55Speaker 1: trying to get a song, because the thing is, if
- 21:58Speaker 1: you have a really bad entrance song in w W E,
- 22:02Speaker 1: sometimes it accidentally gets over with the crowd and then
- 22:06Speaker 1: you just become the ultimate baby face and you end
- 22:09Speaker 1: up just on top, you know, you end up top guy.
- 22:12Speaker 1: So I went with my Canadian Breathrea and Nickelback because
- 22:15Speaker 1: they have terrible songs, and I went with the song
- 22:18Speaker 1: rock Star. This la even cut my change my name
- 22:34Speaker 1: because it seems so like almost on the nose of
- 22:38Speaker 1: what you would anticipate from like wrestling, of like just
- 22:41Speaker 1: really cheesy lyrics and like trying to be cooler than
- 22:45Speaker 1: you actually are. Uh see. I went Nickelback, And I
- 22:49Speaker 1: also feel like, I don't know if this works in
- 22:51Speaker 1: my favor or against the entire precipice of what this
- 22:54Speaker 1: question is. But Vince is a big Nickelback guy. So
- 22:58Speaker 1: he might not know that you're pull ling the wolf
- 23:00Speaker 1: over his eyes and being like I'm gonna go nickel Back,
- 23:02Speaker 1: and you go, oh my god, of course you should
- 23:03Speaker 1: have nickel Back, but really everyone absolutely loads it. So
- 23:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna go rock star Nickelback. Fucking love that. Yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 1: I love that answer. It encapsulates so much. That's a
- 23:15Speaker 1: hard one to follow, because Renee, you really just I mean,
- 23:18Speaker 1: this is your realm though, right, Like that's like asking
- 23:21Speaker 1: that's like, you know, if Wolfgang Puck invites you over
- 23:24Speaker 1: and asks you to make dinner for him. Like, I
- 23:26Speaker 1: don't really know how to follow that. But the ones
- 23:28Speaker 1: that I came up with were because I agree, Renee,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I think that they're you know, at first, I was
- 23:32Speaker 1: thinking like some obscure classical like string quartet, and then
- 23:36Speaker 1: I was like, I think fans would get into that,
- 23:38Speaker 1: Like I think that that would end up being some
- 23:40Speaker 1: many people. Like I was also thinking, um, I will
- 23:43Speaker 1: Remember You by Sarah McLaughlin because it's just so sad
- 23:54Speaker 1: um exactly, and people would just picture like dead dogs,
- 23:57Speaker 1: which nobody ever wants to think about. But I ended
- 24:00Speaker 1: up with, um, I'm gonna go with Skinny Love by
- 24:03Speaker 1: Bonnie There, because it is a really sad song. It's
- 24:13Speaker 1: not obscure, but it's not like at super meat, like
- 24:17Speaker 1: not enough people would know it to be like, oh
- 24:20Speaker 1: like that, I will remember you. People could also kind
- 24:22Speaker 1: of get into that skinny love is people be like okay,
- 24:25Speaker 1: what like it's really hard to get pumped up listening
- 24:28Speaker 1: to that song. I feel like I could see somebody
- 24:30Speaker 1: like Aiden English when he was still a w W E.
- 24:32Speaker 1: He's very like thespian artiste. I could see him coming
- 24:36Speaker 1: out to some Bonnie there and that really working for him. Okay,
- 24:40Speaker 1: that's a good that's a good point. I guess. I
- 24:41Speaker 1: guess it could work, But I just feel like it
- 24:43Speaker 1: would be a little too much away. I think you're
- 24:45Speaker 1: on the right track. You know. It'd be like, what
- 24:47Speaker 1: like we kind of hate this, Like okay, it's too
- 24:50Speaker 1: high brow. Yeah, they wouldn't like it, and it could
- 24:53Speaker 1: be pretentious. It could come across as pretentious. Anybody who
- 24:57Speaker 1: knows how to say Bonnie There already is a level
- 25:00Speaker 1: of pretension that goes beyond sorry that I'm I'm I'm
- 25:06Speaker 1: a cultural you know, I'm I'm clued in Chad, honest
- 25:10Speaker 1: to God, sign then high brower Chad, these women didn't
- 25:15Speaker 1: make funny I for your music list. I can't stand
- 25:17Speaker 1: by here and let you write it off all those
- 25:19Speaker 1: songs you said, and not just take a little shot
- 25:21Speaker 1: at you. I hate you, Chad. You're choicing music is terrible.
- 25:24Speaker 1: You're just an old man. They're meant to sort of
- 25:27Speaker 1: beating on cheesy, get the crowd going songs. So I
- 25:30Speaker 1: can see what the guy was like. Don't let your
- 25:31Speaker 1: friend up on there again, you know what I mean?
- 25:33Speaker 1: So this, this song gets close to home. This is
- 25:35Speaker 1: the first song. Everyone has a song that one night
- 25:37Speaker 1: they're puking out a friend's window, And this is the
- 25:39Speaker 1: song that I was playing. And you can every time
- 25:41Speaker 1: you hear your skin crows, that's Mambo number five. A
- 25:45Speaker 1: little bit mom outside, I hear Mambo number five. That
- 25:54Speaker 1: opening beat, Dude, like there's something like I shivered down
- 25:57Speaker 1: my spine. So I would love to come out to
- 25:59Speaker 1: that because people would be in do it for like
- 26:00Speaker 1: two seconds, and then like after ten seconds to be like,
- 26:02Speaker 1: oh my god, please make this song stop. So I
- 26:05Speaker 1: would love to do Mambo number five. Oh yes, am
- 26:11Speaker 1: I pulling into the lead. Dare we say right now?
- 26:15Speaker 1: Heading into Part three, Renee has three points. Charlotte and
- 26:18Speaker 1: Simon each have two points. Friendly Fire is the name
- 26:22Speaker 1: of the next segment. We here at the favorites Love Canada,
- 26:25Speaker 1: are Beloved Northern Neighbors, also known as America's hat and
- 26:30Speaker 1: in honor of guests Renee Piquette's Canadian roots, we now
- 26:35Speaker 1: look back at great moments in America Versus Canada sports history. Simon.
- 26:41Speaker 1: One of the pivotal moments of the two thousand seven
- 26:43Speaker 1: Western Conference Semifinals was a technical foul body check by
- 26:47Speaker 1: the Spurs Robert ory On. This Phoenix Suns m VP
- 26:50Speaker 1: the greatest Canadian basketball player of all time. The only
- 26:53Speaker 1: reason I know this is because he played soccer as well.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Steve Nash correct, here's your next. In two thousand ten,
- 27:02Speaker 1: Canada defeated the US and the Olympic ice hockey finals
- 27:05Speaker 1: thanks to a golden goal by this NHL MVP. Oh,
- 27:11Speaker 1: Sidney Crosby, Sidney Crosby, the kid babe, that's right, Charlotte,
- 27:17Speaker 1: who was the first Canadian team to win an NBA title?
- 27:21Speaker 1: And what was the American team? They defeated Raptors and
- 27:27Speaker 1: and they beat Oh my god, it's like a year ago.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Hold on, hold on, Honestly, I'm drawing a blank too
- 27:34Speaker 1: when I was there. Wait wait, don't please, don't tell me, please,
- 27:36Speaker 1: don't tell me. Okay, So they beat the Sixers to
- 27:39Speaker 1: get to the finals, and then in the finals they
- 27:42Speaker 1: played the Warriors. Yes, okay, wow, wow, okay Simon. Despite
- 27:49Speaker 1: hailing from Oklahoma, this Toronto Blue Jay's player became an
- 27:53Speaker 1: instant Canadian folk hero for his World Series winning home
- 27:57Speaker 1: run in Oh My, I should know this because it
- 28:01Speaker 1: was against my team, the Phillies. This is so painful.
- 28:04Speaker 1: I've seen this clip a million times. I'll have to pass.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I don't know. Joe Carter Joe Carter Man Rene centered
- 28:13Speaker 1: on the intense rivalry between the American and Canadian national
- 28:16Speaker 1: wheelchair rugby teams. This film won the Oscar for Best
- 28:21Speaker 1: Documentary in two thousand five. Oh gosh, I have no
- 28:25Speaker 1: idea murder ball. I've never seen that. It's quite good.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I mean, I bet they won an Oscar. I'm gonna
- 28:35Speaker 1: add it to my list. Okay. Charlotte traded to the
- 28:38Speaker 1: Yankees this week. Former Texas ranger Rugged Odor became an
- 28:45Speaker 1: overnight celebrity for punching this Toronto Blue Jay Star square
- 28:51Speaker 1: in the jaw in two thousand sixteen. This is one
- 28:53Speaker 1: of my favorite videos of all time. The chain flips
- 28:57Speaker 1: around his neck and I am blanking on his name,
- 29:02Speaker 1: Battista Batista. He may follow you on Twitter because he
- 29:06Speaker 1: follows about eight million people, doesn't follow me? What the hell, Batista?
- 29:11Speaker 1: Let's go Joey bats baby there. You can't believe that
- 29:15Speaker 1: I forgot that. That is truly like, that is one
- 29:17Speaker 1: of I think about that like once a week. That
- 29:20Speaker 1: was like, that was like unreal. How clean of a
- 29:23Speaker 1: punch he got? The answer is Jose Bautista or the
- 29:26Speaker 1: official record keeping. Okay, here we go. Imagine you've bet
- 29:32Speaker 1: everything you have on a game between America and Canada.
- 29:35Speaker 1: In order to inspire your team captain, you must become
- 29:40Speaker 1: the most patriotic fan in attendance, to inspire your fellow
- 29:46Speaker 1: countrymen and women. What are you wearing? What are you eating?
- 29:50Speaker 1: What are you drinking? Who is the ideal team captain?
- 29:55Speaker 1: You are inspiring? Simon, you go first. That's a lot
- 30:00Speaker 1: lot there. Uh. When I think of America, I think
- 30:03Speaker 1: of the naked cowboy. There's just something American about a
- 30:07Speaker 1: guy being half naked and cowboy boots, an American flag
- 30:10Speaker 1: covering his crotch, and a cowboy hat playing a guitar.
- 30:12Speaker 1: So I would have him eating a burger called a
- 30:15Speaker 1: heart attack, which is like exactly what the name sounds like,
- 30:18Speaker 1: because that's super American as well. And I don't know
- 30:20Speaker 1: if if we're talking to America, I feel like I
- 30:23Speaker 1: guess Budweiser. I mean, it's there's a lot of different
- 30:26Speaker 1: choices there for drinking. We could pick as America, but
- 30:29Speaker 1: I feel like that would be it. And who's my
- 30:30Speaker 1: ideal captain for America. It's got to be Captain America. Right,
- 30:34Speaker 1: He's the Captain of America. I mean, that's hard to argue.
- 30:39Speaker 1: He is the Captain of America. Those are very good, Simon,
- 30:44Speaker 1: very very good, Charlotte, your next, Okay, So the captain
- 30:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna start with this. The captain is Michael Jordan's
- 30:52Speaker 1: and I am wearing to Michael Jordan's jerseys over each other,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and I am drinking a Gator Ray Aid, and I
- 31:00Speaker 1: have a hat on that says um Horrorce Grant is
- 31:05Speaker 1: a snitch. I'm eating Chicago Deep Dish pizza because to me,
- 31:12Speaker 1: m j is like the American icon and he is.
- 31:16Speaker 1: He doesn't care what anybody thinks except that he needs
- 31:20Speaker 1: everybody to think he's the best. So I would I
- 31:23Speaker 1: feel like that's the most American thing, is to be
- 31:25Speaker 1: very competitive and out for yourself, and he embodies that,
- 31:30Speaker 1: and I would just pander directly to him. Charlotte. I
- 31:35Speaker 1: feel like, on multiple levels, that is one of the
- 31:39Speaker 1: most brilliant answers we've had in the month long history
- 31:44Speaker 1: of the Thunderdome, because it went to crass commercialization, it
- 31:51Speaker 1: went to competition, it went to selfishness. It was brilliant.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Thank you, absolutely stone brilliant. You're gonna maybe blush chat.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You gotta stop, you gotta stop. So many levels of brilliant.
- 32:09Speaker 1: There's a lot of depth to that answer. Good luck,
- 32:12Speaker 1: thank you, honestly, I know. Yikes, alright, my team captain
- 32:16Speaker 1: is obviously Wayne Gretzky. I mean, he is Mr Canada.
- 32:20Speaker 1: We've got to put him at the pinnacle, the very
- 32:21Speaker 1: tippy top. I'm gonna bring things back. I'm gonna do
- 32:24Speaker 1: a little call back here to the Canadian tuxedo, of course,
- 32:27Speaker 1: So you're gonna wearing full denim, and I would like
- 32:30Speaker 1: to maybe layer up the denim in the sense of
- 32:32Speaker 1: like the button down denim shirt, the denim jeans like
- 32:35Speaker 1: a classic Levi five oh ones, a denim jacket over
- 32:39Speaker 1: the denim shirt, followed by wearing muck lucks, which are
- 32:44Speaker 1: like furry indigenous boots of Canada. Got to have those
- 32:48Speaker 1: on a hand knit tuk, which is a beanie to
- 32:51Speaker 1: everybody here in America. Um. And then over top of
- 32:54Speaker 1: these as well, there is a Wayne Gretzky jersey with
- 32:57Speaker 1: the half tuck done as well, just so that he
- 33:00Speaker 1: knows that you get his fashion sense. While on the ice, Um,
- 33:04Speaker 1: what you're eating is for sure a poutine with a
- 33:06Speaker 1: side of ketchup chips, and you are chasing it with
- 33:10Speaker 1: a Caesar which is like our bloody Mary, but it's
- 33:12Speaker 1: made with clamato juice. It is a superior product. It's delicious.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I'm very hungry right now. I'm realizing I want to
- 33:19Speaker 1: go to this party me too. Yeah. Whatever, it's MJ
- 33:23Speaker 1: so nice job. That was really good. Thank you, Thank
- 33:27Speaker 1: you and Renee. I thought your answers were amazing. But
- 33:30Speaker 1: at the end of the day, I'm from like I've
- 33:33Speaker 1: been discriminated against, and I understand it, and I see
- 33:36Speaker 1: it and it's it's okay. I understand. I would like
- 33:38Speaker 1: to say that I am actually an official American now.
- 33:41Speaker 1: So I saw that I wanted to congratulate you. I
- 33:44Speaker 1: saw on Instagram. Thank you. But you know, it's still
- 33:47Speaker 1: a Canadian. Blood courses through these veins, so I still
- 33:49Speaker 1: stick with Gretzky is still my guy. As Americans, we
- 33:53Speaker 1: love it. We get you, we get Jim Carrey, we
- 33:54Speaker 1: get Seth Rogan. It's all good. Everything come from Canada.
- 33:57Speaker 1: America's good girl. Just hopping the boarder, hoping for the last,
- 34:00Speaker 1: hoping a dream. Let's get done. All right, here we
- 34:04Speaker 1: go Part four. It's called the Main Thing. The Main Thing.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Our guest, Charlotte Wilder went to a school in the
- 34:13Speaker 1: great State of Maine and is now an even more
- 34:15Speaker 1: famous Colby College alam than Union General Benjamin F. Butler
- 34:20Speaker 1: was during the Civil War. In honor of Charlotte's formative
- 34:24Speaker 1: years in the Pine Tree State, will quickly examine Maine's
- 34:27Speaker 1: rich sports history Renee. The University of Maine Black Bears
- 34:31Speaker 1: football team has played in just one now defunct Bowl
- 34:34Speaker 1: game back in It was named after this citrus fruit,
- 34:38Speaker 1: which our guests, Charlotte Wilders summarized as quote, in a
- 34:43Speaker 1: world with oranges in it, there's no reason for this
- 34:46Speaker 1: fruit to exist. Grape fruit, grapefruit, terrible tangerine. Sometimes I
- 34:53Speaker 1: sometimes people say things to me that I like, say
- 34:56Speaker 1: back to me things that I said, and I'm either
- 34:58Speaker 1: like I'm an idiot, I'm like, you're an asshole, Charlotte.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Sometimes all things can be true. Simon Portland, Maine is
- 35:05Speaker 1: home to the Sea Dogs, the Double A affiliate for
- 35:07Speaker 1: this Northeastern baseball team. I'll guess Boston Boston Red Sox.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Simon Mark Plumber is a ten time Maine and two
- 35:19Speaker 1: time New England amateur golf champion. He lost on the
- 35:23Speaker 1: eighteenth toll of the US Amateur Semifinals to this legendary
- 35:26Speaker 1: golfer in Phil Nicholson. I don't have the answer in
- 35:31Speaker 1: front of me, but I'm thinking it's Tiger Woods. As
- 35:34Speaker 1: we head into the final prompt, everybody has four points.
- 35:39Speaker 1: This is the closest game we've ever had in the Baltimore.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Orioles signed Winterport native and former University of Maine shortstop
- 35:48Speaker 1: Mike Bordick so they could finally and mercifully move rapidly.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Aging legend Cal Ripken Jr. To third base. Baltimore's infield
- 35:56Speaker 1: defense immediately improved from nineteen to third to the delight
- 36:01Speaker 1: of Orioles fans and Orioles betters everywhere. Please provide a
- 36:04Speaker 1: current sports figure who needs to take a queue from
- 36:07Speaker 1: Merkin and assume a new role for the sake of
- 36:10Speaker 1: fans and gamblers everywhere. Charlotte, your first, Well, I said
- 36:14Speaker 1: this before I even remember that you were a Chicago guy,
- 36:16Speaker 1: and I'm looking over your shoulder and I realized I
- 36:18Speaker 1: might have played this absolutely perfectly. I'm gonna say that
- 36:21Speaker 1: minch Ter Biski needs to move to tight end. That
- 36:24Speaker 1: would be great, but he's no longer on the Bears.
- 36:26Speaker 1: He is now the backup for the Buffalo Bills. I know,
- 36:29Speaker 1: but I'm saying that years of trade you traded up
- 36:33Speaker 1: to get him. I just think like maybe there would
- 36:35Speaker 1: be some poetic justice. I'm gonna speak. I'm gonna consider
- 36:38Speaker 1: it only because you don't love it. I can tell
- 36:40Speaker 1: I already know I'm gonna lose. But you know I
- 36:42Speaker 1: had this answer, and then I saw the Bears thing
- 36:44Speaker 1: behind you, and I was like, maybe it could still play.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I don't love it. Rene, Your next Okay, so hear
- 36:51Speaker 1: me out on this one. I know it's gonna ruffle
- 36:52Speaker 1: some feathers, it's gonna upset a lot of people. Please
- 36:55Speaker 1: do not mention me on Twitter. Um. Okay. So this
- 37:00Speaker 1: this kind of boils down to what quarantine has done
- 37:03Speaker 1: to me and Jeopardy has taken over my life recently,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and I think it's time that Aaron Rodgers takes his
- 37:09Speaker 1: queue and he exits the NFL. Listen. I know he's
- 37:13Speaker 1: still got prime Yeers. I know he's got a lot
- 37:15Speaker 1: of good ship going on, he's in a happy relationship.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Things are going smooth for Mr Rogers. But for somebody
- 37:21Speaker 1: to come in and replace the phenomen that is Alex Trebek.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I wanted to be the one to pass along this information.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Will win, We'll get it done. I think it's Aaron Rodgers.
- 37:32Speaker 1: I think he's got this gig in the bag, and
- 37:35Speaker 1: I think that the people of Jeopardy need Aaron Rodgers
- 37:39Speaker 1: more than the NFL does. There, Okay, I said it. Okay,
- 37:42Speaker 1: that's it my answer. Wow. I like that a lot.
- 37:46Speaker 1: I've also become obsessed with with Aaron Rodgers and Shanlen
- 37:49Speaker 1: Woodley's relationship. It's great. I used to have the biggest
- 37:52Speaker 1: crush on Aaron Rodgers too, so I'm just I'm happy
- 37:54Speaker 1: to see him happy, you know. Yep, I also got
- 37:57Speaker 1: I also started watching um the entire seventeen season of
- 38:01Speaker 1: Jeopardy and Quarantine, so I feel you. Oh my god's fascinating.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I can't believe how good my husband is at it.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Pisces me off, Simon. Can you top Aaron Rodgers exiting
- 38:11Speaker 1: the NFL? I really can. I mean, he's so easy
- 38:14Speaker 1: on the eyes, even his voice is nice, he really is.
- 38:17Speaker 1: It's I hope he does that, but for me, it's
- 38:20Speaker 1: gonna be James Dolan just shut up. James Dolan, shut up.
- 38:23Speaker 1: I would love it. James Dolan just faded away, go
- 38:26Speaker 1: to old Private Island. Fade away. Because I can't stand
- 38:29Speaker 1: the Knick fans just talking about how great they would
- 38:31Speaker 1: be if he wasn't there. I wanted to leave so
- 38:33Speaker 1: we can see what the Knicks could do, because it's
- 38:35Speaker 1: literally my whole life. All I've heard about is how
- 38:37Speaker 1: the great the Knicks are going to be, and they've
- 38:38Speaker 1: never been great in my lifetime. So I'm ready for
- 38:40Speaker 1: him to leave and then Knicks can finally be good
- 38:42Speaker 1: he's like not getting forced out, but he's one of
- 38:45Speaker 1: those guys where all the Knick fans just hate him.
- 38:46Speaker 1: At this point, I just think everyone would be happy
- 38:48Speaker 1: if you just took a queue and just took a
- 38:50Speaker 1: step back. That's amazing. That's an amazing answer. I thought
- 38:54Speaker 1: it was gonna be hard to top Aaron Rodgers, and
- 38:56Speaker 1: you did it. Because I agree, James Dolan needs to
- 39:00Speaker 1: go away. He just is is the epitome of what
- 39:03Speaker 1: bad ownership, bad connection to the fans. Uh, not having
- 39:08Speaker 1: the loyalty that he should have, to um the players
- 39:12Speaker 1: that have been at the Knicks. Everything about him has
- 39:15Speaker 1: been just completely distasteful as an owner. Get out, sell
- 39:18Speaker 1: the team, grab your billions, find someone who can do
- 39:21Speaker 1: it better. Be gone, Simon. You in that round? Oh
- 39:25Speaker 1: my god. The score as we head into the Grand
- 39:27Speaker 1: Finaley Simon has five. This is where he tends to
- 39:30Speaker 1: lose it. Charlotte has four. Renee has four. The topic
- 39:34Speaker 1: is WrestleMania one. How much would you like to risk?
- 39:38Speaker 1: Please close your eyes. Everyone, close your eyes, Hold up
- 39:41Speaker 1: your fingers with your wager amount. Okay, Simon, Renee, Charlotte.
- 39:47Speaker 1: The first WrestleMania was held marche at Madison Square Guarden.
- 39:54Speaker 1: The opening theme was an instrumental version easy Lover, which
- 39:59Speaker 1: was or the top of the Billboard charts at the time.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Easy Lover was a collaboration between Earth Wind and Fires,
- 40:07Speaker 1: Philip Bailey and this artist, a massively successful drummer singer
- 40:14Speaker 1: named that artist classic song confidence at an all time medium. Simon,
- 40:30Speaker 1: please give us your wager and your answer. I gave
- 40:33Speaker 1: all five because I'm an idiot and I'm gonna lose again,
- 40:35Speaker 1: and my answer is Paul Simon, the answer is incorrect,
- 40:40Speaker 1: and you are down to zero. Charlotte, please give me
- 40:43Speaker 1: your wager and your answer. I wagered four and I
- 40:47Speaker 1: said Ringo Starr, also incorrect, but a very good guest,
- 40:52Speaker 1: much much better than Simmon's, because Paul Simon was, you know,
- 40:56Speaker 1: not a drummer. Renee. Give me your wager, give me
- 40:59Speaker 1: your answer. So I waged three. And while I know
- 41:03Speaker 1: my answer is wrong, just time period, it just does
- 41:06Speaker 1: not sync up, it doesn't work. But he happens to
- 41:08Speaker 1: be the best drummer singer that I could think of,
- 41:10Speaker 1: and I went with Dave Grohl excellent answer. I'm also
- 41:14Speaker 1: a huge, huge fan of Dave Grohl. The answer is
- 41:17Speaker 1: Phil Collins. I was in Phil Collins. Good, that's my wheelhouse. Oh,
- 41:25Speaker 1: I'm just I'm embarrassed. I'm ashamed. I just watched four
- 41:31Speaker 1: Old virgin I can't believe I didn't know that. My
- 41:33Speaker 1: gut instinct was to just blurt out Phil Collins at
- 41:37Speaker 1: the very beginning of the answer. And my number one
- 41:40Speaker 1: most listened to song in Phil Collins. So well, listen,
- 41:45Speaker 1: Phil Collins was the answer. Uh, and guess what, folks,
- 41:48Speaker 1: Simon is down to zero, Charlotte is down to zero. Renee,
- 41:54Speaker 1: using brilliant game theory, is at one point that makes
- 42:00Speaker 1: Renee Piquette, our friend from Canada who was also an
- 42:03Speaker 1: American citizen living in Las Vegas, hosting the podcast Oral
- 42:07Speaker 1: Sessions on the Volume Network. She is our winner today, relentless,

- 42:18Speaker 1: figure skating boot? Let's be bedazzled figure skating boot? That
- 42:22Speaker 1: says the favorites in uh jewels across the laces any moment,
- 42:29Speaker 1: it should just say the favorite. It should just say
- 42:32Speaker 1: the favorite. You're so right, Renee. I think you deserve
- 42:36Speaker 1: the wind for getting up earlier than planned and being
- 42:39Speaker 1: on the West coast and also being just weeks away
- 42:42Speaker 1: from giving birth, everybody who was about to give birth
- 42:45Speaker 1: should win prizes. I could not agree more. Yeah, me
- 42:49Speaker 1: and my feet fully agree to that. We are big,
- 42:53Speaker 1: big fans of it, all right. For Simon Hunter, for
