  [SPEAKER_00]: Once celebrated as the first long American mayor of a major U.S. city is now facing federal bribery, conspiracy, and honest services fraud charges that could put her behind bars for get this up to 95 years.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Duong family run California waste solutions and control Oakland's massive recycling contract, allegedly poured $95,000 into attack maillers against Taos opponents all in exchange for promises that Tao would extend their recycling contract by housing units from their shipping container company and even install a city official of their own choosing and it gets worse.

  [SPEAKER_00]: prosecutors alleged the whole scheme fabricated a fake $150,000 job at a cannabis consulting business run by Tao's own sister.

  [SPEAKER_00]: This is the same rot we've seen play out again, and again, in one party Democrat strongholds in California, in Minnesota, in Illinois, in New York states and cities where accountability disappeared decades ago and Democrat machine politics filled the vacuum.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Federal prosecutors walked into court with tons of evidence.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We're talking more than 1700 proposed exhibits, secret cell phone recordings, sprawling text threads, financial records, and enough documentation to bury a jury alive, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: The judge in this case looked at the mountain of evidence

  [SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna have to get rid of some of that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Prosecutors had so much dirt on these people that a federal judge had to tell them that they would end up drowning the jury in all the evidence.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So the judge actually ordered prosecutors initially to slash the list down to just 300 exhibits from 1700 to 300 and then she finally eased up and settled around 500 exhibits.

  [SPEAKER_00]: court filings alleged that Andy Duong, one of those recycling executives, he was secretly recording and photographing local politicians all Democrats in compromising positions.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Quote on quote, allegedly to use as leverage if he ever needed to.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So investigators say they found dozens of these recordings on his phone, including footage tied to a 2023 Duong sponsored

  [SPEAKER_00]: The judge is already ruled that some of the more shall we say salacious footage, which obviously involved alleged sexual activity will not be shown to the jury, but the fact that this stuff exists at all tells you everything about the culture inside this network of California Democrat power brokers.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Now, the government's central witness against this former Oakland mayor is a man by the name of Mario Juarez.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We're not just talking to Rankin Files, he served as a coacher for the Alameda County Democrat party.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a delegate member of the California Democrat party.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And as you may have guessed, he is certainly not some clean cut whistleblower.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So for over a year, Tao's defense attorneys have been hammering Juarez's Juarez's credibility, arguing that the entire FBI investigation was built on the world of a man who couldn't be trusted because he was so corrupt.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then the story flip completely, who are as ended up pleading guilty to conspiring to commit bribery himself.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So the supposed informant is now a convicted co-conspirator who's cutting a deal, to testify against the very people he wants informed on.

  [SPEAKER_00]: to block defense attorneys from cross-examining, Quarra is about certain parts of this checkered past, including a shooting that happened outside his own home, just days after he first talked to federal investigators.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And as a veto allegedly accepted a $2,000 bribe and set up a hit and hit an LLC in his wife's name to funnel payments tied to selling shipping container homeless units to San Leandro.

  [SPEAKER_00]: defender of fraud charges after a trusted ally secretly wore an FBI wire recording conversations inside Newsom's political orbit starting all the way back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think it was in June of 2024 under Biden's Justice Department ironically, not Trump's.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Newsom is separately under federal investigation for allegedly pressuring state-regulated companies to find a funnel money and it was twice-non-profit and exchanged for hundreds of millions of dollars in state contracts we've talked about that before.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So Sacramento, Oakland, yeah, different zip codes, but the same playbook.

  [SPEAKER_00]: career democratic officials building networks where campaign fair favors, no show jobs, secret recordings, all substitute for actual governance.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And every single time, the first reaction from these politicians is to claim victimhood and blame Republicans, even when it has in both the the towel and new some cases, the investigations started

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, with jury selection set for October 13th and opening arguments expected shortly thereafter, the next few weeks are going to be critical.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The judge still has to rule and whether Juarez's credibility problems get exposed to the jury.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Prosecutors have to prove that Tau knowingly participated in a corrupt agreement, not just that shady things happened around her.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and the defense is clearly building toward one argument and that's we don't care how much evidence you have a mountain of messy contradictory evidence from criminal cooperators.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It does an equal proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But regardless of the eventual verdict in all of this, the damage to the clean government image that Shung Tao and Franklin, the entire Bay Area Democrat establishment has tried to project, that's completely imploded.
