- 0:00For those individuals called to take up the integral Yoga, there
- 0:05is a unique opportunity and a unique set of concerns that
- 0:09arise. Those paths of yoga which aim at
- 0:13liberation have their own difficulties.
- 0:16It is not simple to escape the lures of the external life or
- 0:20even to undertake 1 pointed concentration to the exclusion
- 0:25of anything else. Yet there are methods and there
- 0:29are defined results, and at the end, with sufficient
- 0:33determination and practice, the seeker in the traditional paths
- 0:37of yoga can reach his objective. The integral yoga, however, does
- 0:43not seek escape from the external world, but rather the
- 0:47integration of new powers of consciousness that are involved
- 0:51but not yet expressed in order to uplift and transform the
- 0:56outer existence. This implies that escape from
- 1:00that existence, avoidance of its various pressures, is not the
- 1:05method for this yoga. When an individual chooses the
- 1:10solitary path of focusing on liberation from the world, he
- 1:14does not present a risk or challenge to the established
- 1:17order, the powers that be, in terms of the physical, vital and
- 1:22mental forces and their objectives at work in the world.
- 1:27Things go on as normal. When an individual accepts the
- 1:32idea that the entire current existence needs to be observed,
- 1:37changed, and infused with a new force that will change the
- 1:40status quo, he is suddenly confronted with the opposition,
- 1:45internally and externally to everything he is attempting to
- 1:50do. Even without active opposition,
- 1:55any attempt to address embedded instincts, habits, and trained
- 1:59responses is a complex and extraordinarily difficult
- 2:04endeavour. When the conscious forces behind
- 2:07the existing organization of life are brought into the
- 2:10picture, they add active opposition to the issues.
- 2:14They raise up desires. They push to expose flaws.
- 2:19They raise up doubts about the objective, the path, the
- 2:24guidance and the individual's own capacity.
- 2:28The integral Yoga is this one that requires an extraordinary
- 2:31measure of persistence, an incredible amount of patience,
- 2:36and an immovable faith and willingness to work for long
- 2:39periods of time without even in many cases any clear sign of
- 2:45forward movement and a devotion to the long term objective that
- 2:50will only be fully realized by humanity many generations in the
- 2:55future, Sri Aurobindo observes. Quote Whatever method is used,
- 3:02persistence and perseverance are essential.
- 3:06For whatever method is used, the complexity of the natural
- 3:10resistance will be there to combat it.
- 3:14The difficulties have to be faced, and the more cheerfully
- 3:17they are faced, the sooner they will be overcome.
- 3:22The one thing to do is to keep the mantra of success, the
- 3:26determination of victory, the fixed resolve.
- 3:30Have it I must, and have it I will.
- 3:34Impossible. There is no such thing as
- 3:37impossibility. There are difficulties and
- 3:41things of Long Alain, but no impossibilities.
- 3:47What 1 is determined fixedly to do will get done now or later.
- 3:52It becomes possible. Drive out dark despair and go
- 3:56bravely on with your yoga. As the darkness disappears, the
- 4:02inner doors will open. End Quote Reference.
