- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garren. All right, Well, to begin
- 0:07Speaker 1: Holy Week, I published a article on WordPress called Through Him, Jesus,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Christ and Moses, All Things Are Possible. Talk about the
- 0:19Speaker 1: connectedness this Holy Week, not only the physical Passover and Easter,
- 0:24Speaker 1: but the biblical connection between Christ and Moses through God,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and how both of those men were a Jewish and
- 0:33Speaker 1: be were chosen by God really to deliver his word.
- 0:38Speaker 1: And as they both say, his laws, his commandments, and
- 0:42Speaker 1: I want you to read that.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I'll link that up in the description below. But that
- 0:46Speaker 2: is how I honor Holy Week. It was one of
- 0:48Speaker 2: my dad's favorite weeks. I mean, he loved Palm Sunday.
- 0:51Speaker 1: He loved our Easter Sunday tradition as well as Saint
- 0:54Speaker 1: John the Divine. So I miss him. This week marks
- 0:58Speaker 1: two years since we lost my dad, and it comes
- 1:02Speaker 1: at Holy Week, and it was one of his favorite
- 1:04Speaker 1: weeks of the year. I would say, between Palm Sunday and.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Easter. And once you know it, we were not able
- 1:11Speaker 2: to go to.
- 1:12Speaker 1: A physical church yesterday, but but on Palm Sunday twenty
- 1:16Speaker 1: twenty five, after we came back from the Yankee Gabe
- 1:19Speaker 1: on the Metro North there were two palms tied together,
- 1:23Speaker 1: almost like I tied the palms together on his hospital
- 1:27Speaker 1: bed two years ago for Palm Sunday. There they were
- 1:32Speaker 1: retied for us, and I do believe that was my
- 1:34Speaker 1: dad and God say, hey, you need to sell honor
- 1:37Speaker 1: Palm Sunday, and here's how we're going to do it.
- 1:39Speaker 2: So we got palms. Yeah, anyhow, and I.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Do believe they were blessed before being tied up at
- 1:45Speaker 1: the Metro North station.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So there you go. Your dad is finding ways to
- 1:49Speaker 2: have a sign. And I love it. I love it
- 1:51Speaker 2: to know that he's here with us two years later.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You know what he would not love.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And you know what I'm feeling today, a little little
- 2:04Speaker 1: shock for those New Jersey teachers who may not know
- 2:10Speaker 1: that Sean Spiller is a Democratic governor, a candidate for governor.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And Okay, so.
- 2:20Speaker 1: He's Democratic governor candidate for governor, so what he's the
- 2:23Speaker 1: former Montclaim mayor, so what?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Well? He is.
- 2:31Speaker 1: By the way, the njea New Jersey Education Associations Teachers'
- 2:38Speaker 1: union leader that Spiller has led as his president since
- 2:41Speaker 1: twenty twenty two. The union in fact endorses candidacy last August,
- 2:47Speaker 1: but do you know how much they're dropping into his campaign,
- 2:53Speaker 1: maybe through.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Pensions. I got this email today.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Thirty five million dollars. And you know, I love labor
- 3:04Speaker 1: press and I love unions, but sometimes the union leaders
- 3:08Speaker 1: make me shake my head because it looks like he's
- 3:13Speaker 1: raising money through the union, through the backs of the
- 3:21Speaker 1: hardworking members of the union that might be paying into
- 3:25Speaker 1: his campaign without even knowing it. Because the union itself
- 3:34Speaker 1: is spending the millions. The union's pack, i should say,
- 3:38Speaker 1: is prepared to spend thirty five million dollars.
- 3:45Speaker 2: To get him elected.
- 3:53Speaker 1: In fact, the NNGAA NJEA has had some teachers quit
- 3:58Speaker 1: the union because they are using the union dues to
- 4:02Speaker 1: fund this campaign.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Is that ethical?
- 4:04Speaker 1: I don't think so, and I would hope that more
- 4:10Speaker 1: teachers would do the same and say, look, I'm not
- 4:13Speaker 1: funding this campaign.
- 4:14Speaker 2: That's not why I'm here.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Because when you realize, if you haven't already, that your
- 4:26Speaker 1: union is using its dues to fund a political campaign,
- 4:32Speaker 1: a political campaign. I really want to get Harry Hurley
- 4:41Speaker 1: on from Atlantic City to talk about this, because this
- 4:43Speaker 1: is outrageous. An anonymous nj teacher said, I quit the
- 4:47Speaker 1: NJEA because I don't support their agenda. And when the
- 4:55Speaker 1: union themselves says they're going to fund this, it's not right.
- 5:02Speaker 2: It's not.
- 5:04Speaker 1: How unions should be spending teacher's dues without the approval
- 5:10Speaker 1: of the union members. This is probably done without the
- 5:14Speaker 1: approval of the union members. He recently announced he has
- 5:21Speaker 1: not raised enough money to qualify for matching funds. However,
- 5:24Speaker 1: unlike all their candidates, he has not dropped out of
- 5:27Speaker 1: the race. His own union is funneling tens of million
- 5:31Speaker 1: dollars through Working New Jersey. The group is packed with
- 5:35Speaker 1: former NJEA executives. So you can't tell me that there
- 5:40Speaker 1: is no ties to this union and this run. And
- 5:43Speaker 1: if I'm a New Jersey residence, if I'm a New
- 5:45Speaker 1: Jersey teacher today, I would be outraged that my money
- 5:50Speaker 1: that I spend on union dues to be protected in
- 5:52Speaker 1: the classroom.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Is being spent on this tomfoolery.
- 6:01Speaker 1: They want an arm of the NJA in Trenton, There's
- 6:04Speaker 1: no doubt about it, but they shouldn't be doing it
- 6:08Speaker 1: on the backs of hardworking teachers of New Jersey. That's
- 6:15Speaker 1: my one leg up on news today. New Jerseyans are
- 6:22Speaker 1: fed up enough with the democratic stuff going on.
- 6:25Speaker 2: There. I mean, look, Trump almost won.
- 6:27Speaker 1: By in a difference of five points in Jersey in November.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I think a Republican governor candidate like Jack Chiarelli has
- 6:36Speaker 1: a real chance.
- 6:38Speaker 2: I really do. And that's not an endorsement. I'm just
- 6:40Speaker 2: saying my thoughts.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But you're gonna sit here and tell me that you,
- 6:48Speaker 1: as a taxpayer, as someone who might even support the unions,
- 6:54Speaker 1: and probably as a teacher in the family, are okay
- 6:58Speaker 1: with your family member or even your money going to
- 7:01Speaker 1: a political campaign.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Which you may even want to be part of.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Remember, unions are filled with different ideas, different people with
- 7:08Speaker 1: different backgrounds.
- 7:09Speaker 2: They're not all.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Going to be.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Getting in line if you will with this certain union.
- 7:20Speaker 2: That's why I say I love unions.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I love the union members, I love the hard working
- 7:24Speaker 1: union members, and most leaders are good.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Most leaders are good.
- 7:29Speaker 1: But when you have this kind of corruption, that's the
- 7:33Speaker 1: black eye on unions. That's where they do not have
- 7:36Speaker 1: one leg up for the union members. You want to
- 7:38Speaker 1: have one leg up for union members, you ask them
- 7:41Speaker 1: first if they would support this kind of political action,
- 7:48Speaker 1: not the other way around. You shouldn't have to force
- 7:51Speaker 1: your union members to jump in line for thirty five
- 7:54Speaker 1: million dollars because this guy can't even get his own
- 7:58Speaker 1: funding together. If you can't get your own funding together,
- 8:01Speaker 1: trop battle the race, Sean Spiller, trop bat of the race.
- 8:06Speaker 2: It's corruption to.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Let your NJEA pals and colleagues and even former executives
- 8:14Speaker 1: decide this for you funnel money into this. If you
- 8:18Speaker 1: can't fund it yourself, get out of the race. You're
- 8:22Speaker 1: not a serious contender if you can't fund it yourself.
- 8:28Speaker 1: And the NNGAA, how despicable is it that you would
- 8:34Speaker 1: go round your members.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I'd do this without their approval.
- 8:42Speaker 1: So Sean Spiller, get out of the race today. If
- 8:45Speaker 1: you cannot fund your own campaign, do not use your
- 8:49Speaker 1: loyal UNI members as dues to fund a thirty five
- 8:53Speaker 1: million dollar campaign. And you know the TWU here Richard
- 9:00Speaker 1: Davis resigned because of misconducts, you know, sexual allegation, whatnot.
- 9:06Speaker 1: This guy should not even be able to run the
- 9:08Speaker 1: njAA EA with the abusive power we're seeing right now.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Sean Spiller, thirty five million dollars funded by some or
- 9:19Speaker 1: more or majority of the NJAEA.
- 9:25Speaker 2: And I hope it doesn't work out. I hope it
- 9:29Speaker 2: doesn't work out.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Because if he truly had the power of the popularity
- 9:35Speaker 1: to get his own funding, he would have. But if
- 9:38Speaker 1: he doesn't have his own funding, then get out the race.
- 9:42Speaker 1: You know the old saying, lead follower, Get the hell
- 9:44Speaker 1: out of the way.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Get the hell out of.
- 9:45Speaker 1: The way, Sean Speller, you can't even fund your own campaign.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Thirty five million dollars contributing contributed by the NJA through
- 9:58Speaker 1: a pack corruption and as a New Jersey tired of corruption.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Isn't this what we're.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Voting against entirely across the country, the corrupt nature.
- 10:13Speaker 2: I hear Andrew Cuomo, you're in New York. Didn't want
- 10:15Speaker 2: to do debates, didn't want to do debates. You're running
- 10:20Speaker 2: for me, you don't want to do the debates.
- 10:22Speaker 1: We have to vote against corruption in New Jersey, New York,
- 10:25Speaker 1: or any other place.
- 10:33Speaker 2: And so this is not a heroic move.
- 10:36Speaker 1: This is not Cory Booker standing in the Senate well
- 10:40Speaker 1: for twenty five hours to fight for what he believes
- 10:44Speaker 1: in on behalf of New Jerseyans and Americans.
- 10:49Speaker 2: This is corruption. This is not some heroic move. Oh,
- 10:55Speaker 2: Sean Miller.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Sean Spiller can't make his own fun, so he's gotta
- 11:00Speaker 1: go No, that's not heroic.
- 11:01Speaker 2: That's coward, that's corruption.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Got out of the race now, Sean Spiller, for the
- 11:07Speaker 1: good of the teachers who don't want to fund the
- 11:11Speaker 1: campaign and are dropping out, And for the good of.
- 11:18Speaker 2: The education system in.
- 11:21Speaker 1: New Jersey, because I think the kids will be impacted
- 11:25Speaker 1: by this too, because you might have teachers that are
- 11:30Speaker 1: so dismayed at this that they they might not be
- 11:34Speaker 1: able to teach as well, because their focus isn't on this,
- 11:37Speaker 1: it's on the fact that their money is going to
- 11:38Speaker 1: a campaign they don't even want to fund. And at
- 11:44Speaker 1: the end of all this, I hope Sean Spiller resigns
- 11:47Speaker 1: from the NJAEA for the good of New Jersey, for
- 11:52Speaker 1: the good of education, for the good of the kids.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Of New Jersey.
- 11:57Speaker 1: We have corruption New Jersey education in New York education
- 12:01Speaker 1: is steep enough. This union's gotta get back on track.
- 12:07Speaker 2: And not think about Trenton, but think about the kids
- 12:12Speaker 2: and the future.
- 12:15Speaker 1: And clearly New Jersey doesn't want Sean Spiller as its
- 12:17Speaker 1: future if they're not even funding his campaign publicly, So
- 12:23Speaker 1: I'm publicly saying Sean Spiller drop out of the race
- 12:27Speaker 1: right now, for the good of election integrity, for the
- 12:31Speaker 1: good of the kids, for the good of the teachers.
- 12:36Speaker 2: And for the good of ethics as well.
- 12:44Speaker 1: And maybe this political influence will teach the nga EA
- 12:53Speaker 1: a lesson and that they can have one leg up
- 12:58Speaker 1: for the kids, not for Trenton.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Once again,
