- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean here. And it's Yvonne 2.
- 0:15It's a Friday. The final Friday.
- 0:18In January. It is the final Friday and it's
- 0:21your first day back at work. It's my first day yet, boy.
- 0:25Sorry about that. No, I'm excited.
- 0:27How wonderful. How good are you being excited
- 0:30about going back to work after this length of holiday?
- 0:33That's like a major character. Victory or I think I'm pretty
- 0:37spoilt to have had such a great break and come.
- 0:39Back refreshed. Isn't summer the best?
- 0:42Summer is the best, And look at you pointing at the proverb.
- 0:45That's enough preamble, she says.
- 0:47Let's get down enough from us. Let's get into the Bible.
- 0:50OK, done. We are reading the last handful
- 0:55of Proverbs from Proverbs chapter 20 today.
- 0:58These beautiful little moments of wisdom that we can reflect on
- 1:03and see how we can make the most of them in our lives today.
- 1:07So how about we read the mate? Excellent.
- 1:09Let's read together Proverbs 2024 to 30.
- 1:24The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything
- 1:28along the way? Don't trap yourself by making a
- 1:33rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.
- 1:39A wise king scatters the wicked like wheat, then runs his
- 1:43threshing wheel over them. The Lord's light penetrates the
- 1:48human spirit, exposing every hidden motive.
- 1:54Unfailing love and faithfulness protect the King.
- 1:58His throne is made secure through love.
- 2:02The glory of the young is their strength, the grey hair of
- 2:06experience is the splendour of the old.
- 2:11Physical punishment cleanses away evil.
- 2:14Such discipline purifies the heart.
- 2:19And again. The Lord directs our steps, so
- 2:23why try to understand everything along the way?
- 2:28Don't trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only
- 2:32later counting the cost. A wise king scatters the wicked
- 2:38like wheat, then runs his threshing wheel over them.
- 2:43The Lord's light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every
- 2:47hidden motive. Unfailing love and faithfulness
- 2:53protect the King. His throne is made secure
- 2:56through love. The glory of the young is their
- 3:01strength, the grey hair of experience is the splendour of
- 3:06the old. Physical punishment cleanses
- 3:10away evil. Such discipline purifies the
- 3:13heart. I feel like I could talk about
- 3:27each one of those. There's so much in there.
- 3:31And I feel like there's a few that are a little bit.
- 3:32Confusing that. Just kind of gel with my ears.
- 3:35Just a. Little bit.
- 3:37I really love the the first one the Lord directs our steps.
- 3:40So why try to understand everything along the way?
- 3:44You know, God saying I've got your back, I've got your back.
- 3:46You don't need to stress about the details.
- 3:48And then that kind of reflects here in the the love and
- 3:51faithfulness protects a king and the throne is made secure
- 3:55through love. And, and I would see that as you
- 3:57know, God's love and faithfulness is the thing that
- 4:00enables the kings to rule and us to do what we need to do on a
- 4:04daily basis. So we can just let go and say,
- 4:06hey, God, you've got this and you love us.
- 4:07So we can be confident in that. I like thinking that God has the
- 4:13whole big picture, and if we can trust the big picture to God,
- 4:16then maybe every tiny minutiae is not as important.
- 4:20Yeah, Lord, thank you that you do hold the totality of life in
- 4:27your hands, and these are hands of love and faithfulness that
- 4:33kings can rest in and that we can rest in.
- 4:38Well, thank You that when we rely on You and we love you day
- 4:43to day that that we don't need to be anxious about the small
- 4:47details of our life, but we can just trust them to you and not
- 4:51sit back and do nothing but not let them get the better of our
- 4:54hearts with anxiety. So Lord, we place our lives in
- 4:58your hands. Well, they were already there in
- 5:00the 1st place. We acknowledge that you hold our
- 5:03lives and we commit them to You. And thank You that You have our
- 5:09back and you see it all, You know it all, You care for it
- 5:12all, and you lead us through every day.
- 5:15And we pray this in the name of your Son Jesus, Amen.
